“Hey babe, you home?” Kelly called for you as he opened the apartment door.
“Hey I’m here,” you sighed as you chuckled softly.
“How are my two favourite girls doing?” He asked, setting his duffel bag on the floor before coming to snuggle up with you on the couch.
“We’re ok, feeling like a beached whale though, baby.”
“We are in the home stretch. Take it easy these last few weeks.”
“Oh we’re taking it easy all right. I sat on this couch all day and did nothing, but watch The Bachelor,” you laughed, “how was shift?”
“A car wreck, nothing major. Then I came home early for you,” he leaned over and gave you a peck on the lips before getting up from the couch.
“Where are you going?” You gave Kelly your best puppy dog eyes.
“Well I thought I was going to shower,” he chuckled.
“Can you get me some water and a snack?”
“What about water and some breakfast?”
“Oh, the baby could really use some of your bacon and french toast.”
“You sit here, I’ll make us some french toast.”
“Don’t forget the bacon,” you teased as he went to the kitchen to start preparing your feast.
“Breakfast on the couch or the table?” Kelly called, plates clanging in the background.
“How about from our bed?” You laughed back, “I’ve had a long day.”
“You’re growing an entire human, that’s a long enough day as it is without you having to work from home too,” he brought the plates to your night stands and came back for you.
You got up from the couch with his help and started to waddle over to the bed.
“Hopefully only another few hours of working from home,” you sighed, getting under the quilt your mom made you as a wedding gift.
“Heard from the doctor yet?” He asked, sliding into the bed with a coffee in his hand.
“Called this morning. She got a cancellation for this afternoon at 3 to do another ultrasound and checkup so I don’t have go by myself,” you replied, digging into your stack of french toast.
“Our daughter is the luckiest,” he leaned down to kiss your belly.
“With your as her daddy, I have no doubt,” you moved your plate to your night stand and rested your head on his shoulder.
“As of now, I’ll only be away for one more shift before she’s born.”
“How long is Boden giving you for paternity leave?”
“I’m only going to take six weeks. Then I’m gonna use up some furlough, so I’ll be off with you for about eight weeks.”
“I thought you had more time saved up.”
“I get 12 weeks every two years. If we have more kids, I want to have the time to be off both times, baby.”
“I don’t know if I want them that close together though,” you laughed.
“Never know. We didn’t expect this one.”
“That’s true I guess. Hey, what time is it?”
“1:28, why?”
“I have a call at 1:30.”
“What do you need for it?”
“Just my laptop and AirPods.”
“I’ll grab them for you quick.”
He walked across the bedroom to the desk and brought you your things to start your call. He wondered out of the room so you could present in peace.
Kelly walked back into your bedroom near the end of your call. You were just saying goodbye to some coworkers since your maternity leave officially started as soon as your call was finished. You closed your laptop and put it to the side.
“Ready to go?” He asked.
“One thing first,” you smiled.
“Which is…?”
“Can you tie my shoes please?” You laughed.
“Of course, but let’s get going. I haven’t seen the baby in a couple months.”
“I know, I know, my shoes are on the floor by the door.”
“Let’s get you up then, we’ve got to go.”
As you pulled up to the doctor’s office, a flutter of excitement filled your heart. Walking into the office, you always dreaded that the OB’s office was on the second floor. You had a seat and waited your turn. Kelly always made sure you were there early after all.
“Mrs Severide?” A nurse called.
You stood up and Kelly held your hand into the exam room.
“There’s a gown on the bed with a blanket. Please put the gown on, the doctor will be in soon,”
“Thank you,” Kelly smiled.
The nurse left the room and you stood by the bed. Kelly sitting in the chair by your side. You started to change and your husband tied the sides of your gown together for you. He helped you onto the bed, draping the blanket over your legs and belly.
There was a knock on the door, “Hi, it’s Dr Calhoun.”
“Come in,” you answered.
Dr. Calhoun closed the door behind her as she came into the exam room.
“How are the parents-to-be feeling today?” She asked.
“A little wobbly, but happy to finally be on maternity leave,” you laughed.
“And how are you feeling, Kelly?”
“A little nervous, but excited,” he replied.
“Any concerns with the pregnancy since we last saw you? From either of you?” Dr Calhoun asked, pulling up your chart on the computer.
“Nothing that I’ve noticed. Just really tired,” you replied.
“That is to be expected, you’re in the home stretch.”
“Kelly said the same thing,” you laughed, “it does help my case of getting him to cook for me when he’s not on shift though.”
“Sounds like you’re doing well then,” she laughed, “let’s take a look at this baby girl.”
She pulled the ultrasound wand and gel out. Kelly held your hand.
“It’s gonna be a little cold, I’m sorry,” she announced.
She squirted the gel onto your belly and flicked the machine on. Swirling the wand around your belly, she turned the screen so you could see the image.
“She’s bigger than the last time I’ve seen her,” Kelly laughed, kissing your hand.
“She has grown a lot in the last month or two,” you smiled, “how’s she looking?”
“Active and growing well. Do you mind if I ask you guys something?” Dr Calhoun asked.
“Sure, is something wrong?” Kelly asked.
“Not at all. How big were you both when you were born?” She replied.
“I believe I was just under seven pounds, and I think Kelly’s mom said he was over 9 pounds. Why?” You replied.
“Your daughter is measuring larger than what we had originally thought. Almost nine and a half pounds. I’m worried about the risk of shoulder dystocia, and I’m thinking it may be easier on you and your baby if you opted for a c-section in the next week or two. A c-section isn’t an easier way out though and the recovery may be difficult.”
“But I’m only 36 weeks, shouldn’t we let her mature a little more?”
“Given her size already, she should be okay to deliver even tomorrow.”
“Kelly still has another shift left before he’s on leave. I don’t think I’m-“ you were starting to shift around on the bed.
“Babe, I’ll take some more furlough. It’ll be okay. Let’s just focus on you and the baby right now,” Kelly stroked your hair, “we’ll be okay.”
“Your baby has grown very well. I am not as worried about her progression as I am about your ability to recover and your baby’s risk of complications. I’ll give you a minute,” Dr Calhoun replied, walking towards the door, “I’ll be back in a few minutes.”
She closed the door behind her and tears filled your eyes.
“What do you think we should do?” Kelly asked.
“If the doctor thinks this is what’s best, I think we should do it,” you wiped the tears from your eyes.
“I’m sorry I make such big babies,” he laughed, rubbing your belly.
“Just means we get to meet her sooner. I think we should do this.”
“When do you want to schedule it?”
“After your next shift. Make sure you don’t have to take any more time off.”
“I would happily take more time off for you and our little girl.”
“Thank you,” your eyes started to swell with tears of joy.
“Knock knock,” Dr Calhoun said, entering the exam room, “have you made a decision or would you like more time?”
“I think we’ve made a decision,” you smiled, “let’s do this as soon as possible.”
“Okay, I’ll leave some paperwork with the nurse at the desk. She’ll get you booked in and give you some instructions. See you both soon. Rest up. Oh and, as always, give us a call if something happens or if you have questions.”
“Thank you Doctor Calhoun.”
Dr Calhoun left the exam room and Kelly helped you change. You made your way to the front desk and booked your c-section. Saturday at 11:30am. Two days away.
Leaving the office, you felt excited. As Kelly started to drive you home, you noticed he seemed excited, but nervous.
“Hey, do you want to stop by 51 on our way home?” You asked, “to tell them the news?”
“Do you mind?”
“Not at all. Then it gives you a chance to talk to Boden.”
Kelly made a u-turn back in the direction of the firehouse. You were only a few minutes away. He smiled from ear to ear as you pulled up.

Mommy? My Daddy Doesn't Love You.
Just a little something, I was feeling rusty so it isn't the best.
--
Nothing your 3 year old said ever shocked you, she had such an incredible vocabulary and her constant chatter had left you totally un-phased by anything she said. You often put her chatty-ness down to the fact she was constantly around different people, listening in on adults talking and picking up on words and phrases here and there. You often had to remind Jack and his friends to watch what they were saying around her, you'd caught her telling her aunts dog off once by calling it a 'bad bitch'. Jack found it hilarious how much she spoke, facetime calls lasting hours sometimes as she gave him and full detailed report on everything you'd done that day, who she'd spent time with and how many naps she'd had.
So as you're walking to the car after collecting her from pre-school, her words don't really phase you at first, a hum escapes your lips as you lift her into her car seat and start buckling her in.
'Mommy, my daddy doesn't love you' she repeats, looking up at you.
You watch her face, noticing how she is dead-serious and normally a statement as random as that would have you both laughing, but she seems almost concerned and it fills you with the same feeling.
'What do you mean baby? Of course daddy loves me' you finish buckling her in but stand at the car door, waiting her response.
'Brandon told me today that 'cause daddy is away all of the time, it must mean he doesn't love you. His daddy left him and his mommy because he doesn't love them anymore, that's what his mommy told him' her eyes never leave yours as she spoke, her fingers playing with the zipper on her jacket.
'Baby' your voice catches and tears fill your eyes for a moment before you swallow, leaning in and pushing some hair out of her face.
'Daddy loves me so much, and he loves you so much and we love him, right?' you wait for her to nod before continuing 'and daddy has to work away sometimes and we don't see him around the house but, that doesn't for a second mean he's left us and he doesn't love us' you watch as she nods, her face showing that her brain is working to think of a response.
'So daddy isn't going to leave us like Brandon's daddy did?' her little face makes your heart melt as you lean in and press a kiss to her forehead.
'No baby, daddy isnt going to leave us. I promise'
After being content with how she felt, you shut the car door and got in the drivers side. You started the car and began your drive home, eager to tell Jack about the conversation you'd had.
-
'Hi daddy!' your daughter ran through to the living room, diving on her dads lap and hugging him tight.
'Hi bug! How was school?' he pressed a kiss to her head before setting her down, her little legs running out to the kitchen where she knew you'd left a snack on her table.
'Glad it was a good day' he called after her, moving into the entryway where he found you taking off your shoes and putting your daughters book bag down.
'Hi babe' Jack's hands slid across your hips and to your stomach, resting there as he pressed soft kisses to your shoulder and neck, you sighed at the feeling and melted back into him
'Hi gorgeous' you turned in his arms, you both met in a soft and breif kiss before you pulled back.
'You'll never guess what she said to me when she got out today'
-
Jack went through a range of emotions, at first he was mad at this kid for telling his daughter that he didn't love her mom, then he was angry at the parents for telling their kid that in the first place, and now he was upset. Upset that your daughter had possibly accepted the fact that her parents didn't love each other, would she be questioning if her dad was coming home everytime he left for tour or for work? Would she spend her childhood worrying about her parents?
You both agreed to sit her down and talk to her. You'd spoken to her before about how Jack works away and sometimes you can both go with him but other times you both had to stay, but she was older now and maybe she'd understand it better.
'So you do love mommy?' she asked Jack after you'd both finished talking.
'So much' Jack smiled down at her.
Your daughter climbed up onto his lap, her tiny hands cupping his ear as she spoke in a whisper to him.
'More than you love me?' her brows furrowed slightly.
'Hmm not as much as I love you, no. But almost, don't tell her' he whispered back, causing a giggle to erupt from the small girl, the two sharing a pinky promise as you looked on in amusment.

broken beyond repair?
Summary:
It had been 65 years since you died and six months earlier you'd killed your husband. About 67 years ago you'd married the man who'd come to be known as Vox.
Notes:
Okay a few things: It has a slow intro but I promise it get's good. Not historically accurate also it takes place 2022 (Hazbin Hotel I'll say takes place 2024)
Cw: Abusive relationships, older man/younger woman, misogyny (well, it is from the 50s), pre canon, Vox’s (theorized) human name, also Valentino is mentioned.
Your parents smile at you as you look over the ticket to the set of JacxBox News. JaxcBox has several different television/radio shows but your favorite by far was the news channel. Now, don't get it twisted, the news is boring as hell (even back then (Back now?)); But the host has a sexy voice and the pictures of him in the newspaper made him look like an Adonis.
"Thank you Mama! Thank you Daddy!" You hug you parents (specifically your father).
"Molly Mayberry's parents had the idea to send you two girls to the see the live show." Your mother explains to you. Molly Mayberry; heiress to the Mayberry country club. She's been your best friend since you were five.
Your parents both worked to be able to afford the private school you went to, raising scorn and mockery from the rest of the community. See, you weren't rich but you were determined to change that. Someday you were going to marry a banker or a stock broker and you'd be able to set your parents up in a nice home maybe somewhere on the coast, and when they'd grow old you'd get them the nicest nurse your future husband's money could pay for.
"You mind if I call Molls? She's gonna be so jazzed." They nod and you flop down into the couch. You dial her number on the rotary, and hear it ring. "Hey! My parents just told me! So what are we gonna wear? Are we gonna match?"
"Who cares about that! My daddy says we can use his new blue fliptop! Hummy and Angie are going to be so jealous when we see them at tennis." Angie "Hummy" Drew and Eliana Pheen make up the rest of your little clique. Hummy is a sweet girl but she isn't very bright (at least that's what everyone else says); she's often humming to herself as a way to calm herself or focus her mind on the task at hand. Her parents have tried everything they can to "fix" her, with no shortage of funds coming from her fathers jewelry company. Eliana on the other hand is the strongest and tallest girl in the graduating class of '53; her dad was a world-famous tennis player for the national Spain tennis team in his youth and won gold for them in the 1936 Olympics. Her dad had to take her mom’s last name when he came over to live here.
"Sounds like a jam."
"I know! I'm gonna meet Vincent Audire! Now don't be jealous when he absolutely falls for me." Molly giggles. She was the leader of your guys little clique and if she liked a boy the other girls weren't allowed to pursue him. Your pretty sure that every time you liked a guy she tried to snatch him away. Your not sure why you were friends.
"He'll just adore you." You say supportively, despite the fact that it breaks your heart.
"Duh! Who wouldn't."
////////////////////////////////////////
It was a few days later and You and Molly sit in the audience and watch as the news is being recorded both on film and over the radio.
Vincent was a handsome man with dark, almost jet black, hair. He had there piercing blue eyes and a stunningly white smile. Your heart skips a beat every time he looks over at you two. Before the show he even winked in your direction. Of course Molly's sure it's for her. Why wouldn't it be. She's the one dressed to the nines in jewelry and a nice cherry red wiggle dress. She lent you some accessories to go with the dress you'd converted from an old poodle skirt Molly gave you into a petticoat.
After the show was over Molly sent you away to "get her something from the snack table in the lounge" so she could go cozy up to Vincent.
It didn't work apparently because he shows up in the lounge 50 seconds after you finish scooping something up for Molly.
"Hello sir." You smile at him.
"Hey doll. You come with that lady in the slim red dress? You two are rather young aren't you?"
"I don't s'pose so sir. We graduated just last week. Neither of us really fancy College. Molly's father prolly' gonna make her go to Radcliffe to meet one of those Harvard men. She's far more interested in you though sir."
"Oh really? What about you doll?"
"Me?" You ask surprised. "Well I s'pose I won't gonna go to college. I'll just marry one of Molly's father's friend's sons. Be a cute lil housewife, for a handsome rich man." You bat your lashes at him.
"Well that's probable for the best. Being a trophy wife suits someone of your skillset better than a housewife."
"And what do you mean by that sir?" You hesitate to ask. Oh if Molly saw you now she'd rip your head off.
"No one's being fooled by the botch job done on your dress. An old poodle skirt to a petticoat? You'd be better off using that pretty face of yours to please your husband." He ran one of his warm pale hands against your cheek. His knuckle feels alien yet comforting against you. "Doll. You wouldn't happen to be free tomorrow night would you?"
"I am."
"Would you want to go to my favorite restaurant with me? We could meet earlier and go get you something presentable."
"I'd love that, sir."
"Please Doll. Call me Vincent." He kisses your knuckles and walks off. "I'll meet you on boardwalk by the pier at noon." he says looking back. You nod and rush back to Molly with her snack.
////////////////////////////////////////
The next day he brought you around to a few fancy shops and bought you a tiki dress for dinner. He brought you out to this cute little Hawaiian Restaurant.
Later that night as he was walking you back to your front door he leaned down and kissed you straight on the lips.
"How forward of you Vincent!" You blush. He chuckles and hands you the bags from the shopping trip.
"Here's my number. Call me tomorrow to set up our next date doll." He kisses your cheek and walks back to his car.
"Okay. Have a good night Vincent."
After your second date he asked you to go steady. He takes you out every weekend. This went on for a while and your friend noticed.
"Alright, what's going on?" Molly asks almost annoyed.
"I'm going steady with a boy." You smiled dreamily.
"Hm? What's he like?" Hummy bounces her leg as she asks interested.
"Get your head out of la la land and focus on the game!" Eliana shouts from across the court.
"Don't see why you're upset. You two are winning." Molly snarks. "She's right though. I wanna win this game."
"Molly, no one's ever won against Eliana." You point out.
"Papa has!" Eliana exclaims.
"Oh thank you Eliana, for correcting me that the only person who's ever beaten you is the world famous tennis champion who taught you." You roll your eyes.
////////////////////////////////////////
It had been about six months of going steady and no one has been aware of it. But one day he went on the news channel, his smile slightly forced as he announced that in about two months he'd be taking two weeks off to go on his honeymoon. He called you onto the set with him and introduced you to the world.
You don't fail to notice the tight grip he kept around your shoulder. You don't think that he's all to pleased about what you told him just the night before.
Neither was Molly when she saw you on the news channel that evening. She was screaming, throwing things around her room, and according to Hummy she even assaulted one of the help.
You haven't seen Molly since you went on TV, but that wouldn't last long. She found you when you were out one day with Vincent.
"HOW COULD YOU!!" She charges at you and your Fiancé's bodyguard, Parker, steps in to protect you.
"Go back to the car Vincent I'll be there in a moment." He rolls his eyes but does as you say.
"You tramp! You knew how much I loved him!" Molly cries as tears stream down her face.
"I'm sorry Molly, but Vincent wants me."
"You... you really are dense! He doesn't want you! He wants an easy girl. He'll have his fun with you but in the end rich men will marry the daughters of other rich men."
"That's where you're wrong. I'm having his baby, that's why he put this rock on my hand."
She screams. She goes to pull on your hair but Parker steps up and in between the two of you. He escorts you back to the unpleased man in the black car.
////////////////////////////////////////
A year later you were living with a baby boy who absolutely adores you; and a husband how tosses you around like a used sock.
So here you sit. In the kitchen of your husband's mansion, feeding your beautiful baby; seeing as the help having the day off.
Your husband Vincent isn't exactly the nicest man. You have no idea what happened to him. The day before you told him you were pregnant he was buying you flowers and dresses, taking you out for dinner and spoon feeding you 100 dollar parfaits. then the second you told him his mood shifted.
Molly was right, you know that now. Vincent wasn't the marrying type. However, if you'd gone public with the news of your pregnancy his carrier would be over. He had no choice but the marry you.
"Hello Junior, how's my big man today?" Vincent asks, ruffling the boys black locks. As much as he now hates you you're glad to see he holds no resentment towards his son. It almost made up for the times he'd get drunk and throw things, complaining how you'd ruined his life (though thankfully there were no mentions of his son in those arguments), or all the nights he'd leave you cold and alone in bed, coming home with tacky shades of lipstick all over him. Yes he loves his son, but his wife on the other hand...
"Doll. Where's my drink? I told you I wanted one an hour ago." His demanding voice cut you out of your thoughts.
"You're not getting a drink. I'm done being your servant." You mumble, gritting your teeth.
He rolls his eyes and snorts, "Okay. Doll get me my-" He cut himself off as he felt a searing blinding pain in his side. He looks back at you, the silver knife in your hands now stained with crimson. He pushed you to the floor and headed into the living room. He tripped as you locked the door to the patio and closed the blinds.
"Honey... let's..." he pants, "lets talk about this, okay? You don't have to do this. I'm... I'm so sorry. Look love, you don't have to worry... I won't tell anyone. We'll say a tripped and fell onto a blade in the garage. I still love you, doll."
You grab the whisky from the drink you were supposed to fix him and splash it all over him.
"For what it's worth, I'll always love you Vincent." You tip the TV over on him and watch as it shorted out and caught fire. You quickly grabbed your son and the two emergency bags you'd packed the night before for the two of you and snag the keys to the car. You'll get the hell out of dodge, wait for the fire to spread and come back to put on the helpless wife routine.
////////////////////////////////////////
You s'pose karma has a was of coming back to bite you in in the ass.
Only six month after you'd killed your husband your old friend Molly broke in and stabs you. Luckily Junior was away with your parents for the weekend.
////////////////////////////////////////
When you awoke in hell you woke up to simple jabbing pain in your arm. "Ow." You see a few kids poking at you with forks. they had gray skin and black eyes.
Instinctually you pulled a needle out of your hair and pointed it at them. You hit it straight into the ground which caught the attention of some adults.
Some of them came up to you and you grab one and held the needle to their neck. "Everyone stay back, or the creepo gets it!" About five minutes later of you holding this man hostage and demanding safe passage to a safe haven a tall woman popped through the small crowd that formed.
"What's going on here?" She asks clearly unpleased.
"Where am I? Who are you? What's going on?" You ask voice breaking as you speak, from fear or frustrated tears you're not sure.
"Shouldn't I be the one asking that? You come to my town and start making demands like this, threatening my people."
"I don't want to! Those kids were poking me with a fork! I just... fear and adrenaline overtook me and now we're here. I just want to go home! I just want to see my baby boy again." Tears flowed from your eyes.
"Tina, Tommy! We do not play with or pick at our food. And we also do not eat living people. 'Kay darlin', just let Frankie go and we can talk." You did as the taller woman asks.
You still held the needle out just in case. "Darlin' I'm an overlord. A measly needle won't do you much good. The names Rosie. From what my people told me you got fast reflexes, and an itchin' to stab. We could use someone like that here." She wraps her arm around you. "You poor, poor thing. It's gonna be okay. Let Aunty Rosie take care of this mess. I'll explain everything to you but you gotta come with me. There are eyes and ears everywhere."
"You can say that again." She giggles at your little comment.
"Alastor will just adored you."
////////////////////////////////////////
It had been 65 years since you died and you'd been working for Rosie every day. You'd met Alastor on a handful of occasions and only briefly had conversations with him when you saw him. He was a nice enough fellow, albeit a bit spooky. Anyway back to your job for Rosie. You'd get requests from the cannibals and you'd go out and get them the meats they requested. Your Demonic power allowed you enhanced battle reflexes and speed as well as seeing where to get tools for different modes of murder and the steps to kill in different ways. Yes it was morbid but it kept a roof over your head and the sinners always grew back so it's not like it was really hurting anyone. While you hadn't sold your soul to her she basically owned you and protected you. It was nice to have someone who actually cared for you.
But that all came to a stop when you saw an add one day while walking back with your freshest orders. VoxTek with their signature slogan "Trust us... with your safety." The man on the screen, the voice telling you to trust him...
"Oh Vincent, what happened to you?" You stood there almost entranced as a voice called out form behind you.
"You happened to me." He placed his hands on your shoulders and you spun around and elbowed him in the stomach. "Oof! Okay doll, I see you wanna play rough." He hoisted you over his shoulder and Teleported you both through a street camera to a nice looking building.
"Valentino and Velvette are gonna kill me. Val especially."
"Let go of me!" You squirm and tried to hit him with your needles in your hair but neither make a dent.
He threw you onto a bed and paced back and forth in the room. The bed itself was nice. Prussian blue silk sheets and rose red and royal blue comforters sat on top of the bed.
"This is bad." Vincent, no, Vox paces back and forth. "This is really bad."
'You can say that again.' You think as you look around the room to see if anything can help you escape. You could take the comforters and sheets and wrap them around his head or his neck. You could...
"This is all your fault!" He shouted at you.
"My fault?! How is this my fault?!"
"You just had to stab me and end up down here didn't you!"
"Are you seriously going to blame me? Firstly We got together when I was 18 and you were 33 the blame should not be on me in that situation, and secondly You were the one who plopped down and took me back here!"
"You could have refused!" He defended.
"I did! I said I didn’t want to go with you when you kidnapped me!" You retorted.
"I meant every time we had sex! Every time we kissed! You weren’t complaining when you got a nice dress out of it! What, you think I wanted you to stab me? I begged you not to, I said we could talk, I told you I still loved you and would forgive you!" He grabbed your arm.
"Oh you loved me? Did you love me when you hit me? Did you think of me when you were fucking those prostitutes with that tacky orange lipstick? Were you jumping for joy on the inside while scowling at me when I told you I was pregnant? Did you ever love me or did you just love my holes? Huh? Did you?" You push and hit his chest.
He grasps both of your hands. "Of course I did! But you just made it so hard!"
"Oh did I?" You asked sarcastically.
"Yes, you did! If you hated it so much why didn’t you leave?"
"It was the 50's Vox! If I asked you for a divorce I'd never be able to see my son again, I wasn't willing to lose him!" Tears form in your eyes.
"But you were willing to loose me?"
"I really don't believe you were ever mine." Tears fully streamed down your cheeks.
"Oh and you're such a saint? The woman who said she'd always love me turned her back on me and tried to flee to live with the best friend of my greatest enemy."
"I said that I'd always love Vincent, not Vox."
"Are you Fucking kidding me? We're literally the same person!"
"Oh really? Vincent wouldn't hurt others to get what he wants."
"It's Hell babe." He rolls his eyes.
"Vincent wouldn't have kidnapped me." You point out.
"Vincent also wouldn't want his ex-wife to be able to spread rumors about him and ruin his image. Neither does Vox."
"I had a good thing going "Vox"! I had a job and I haven't thought of you once!" You screamed at him.
"Yeah well I'm more well off than you could ever imagine. I have a wonderful Boyfriend and we have a wonderful platonic friend who lives with us!"
" Okay, we worked out our problems, I won't spread any rumors about you and your harem or whatever. Can you please let me go now? I really don't care who you're fucking. It was till death do us part remember?"
"I can't let you go. What if you tell someone. I'll need some insurance."
"What do you want then?"
"I want your soul." He grins sinisterly.
"What...?"
"Think about it. You could continue to hunt people. Do whatever you want. Go wherever you want. Fuck whoever you want. Of course you wouldn't be allowed to live with any other Overlord especially not one that's so close to Alastor, but I'd let you live as far away from me as possible (I'd probably prefer that in all honesty). You could even continue to work for your little girlfriend. I'll get you all set up on the other side of Pentagram City and protect you should anything bad happen. After all, I am far more powerful than your little girlfriend. All this and all you have to do is keep your mouth shut and give me your pretty little soul." He circles you like a shark looking to attack it's prey. "And should you refuse. I'll throw you from the balcony and have someone pick up your splattered remains off of the ground to do it over and over again."
"I can have freedom and ALL you ask is to have me soul in you possession and for me to never speak of you again?"
"Correct... Doll." He chuckles darkly, holding out his hand.
"Deal."

Katsuki was pacing back and forth in his living room after he read the last text you sent.
What kind of news do you mean? Good news? Bad news? Fuck, were you planning to tell him you’re staying there permanently? His hands have been clammy ever since and he thought to ask you but he decided against it in case you were busy finalizing anything before leaving.
“Katsuki, settle down. (Y/n)’s gonna get here when they get here, Honey.” his mom’s voice called out from where she was sitting on the couch. He gave a small huff before plopping down right next to her. Though she seemed calm on the outside, Katsuki could see the slight bouncing of her leg as she was reading the newspaper.
Mitsuki Bakugou wasn’t stupid, she could tell something happened between the two of you. Her son has been calmer in the past two years than he ever has in his life. She’s noticed how he always casts a glance at his phone, a sparkle erupting from his eyes when he reads a message from you. She wanted to ask about it but chose not to because watching her son fumble while typing was kind of endearing.
Though she didn’t talk to Katsuki about it, she did gossip with Masaru when the two were in their shared bed for the night.
“Our Katsuki has grown up a lot, hasn’t he?” she sighed, glancing over at her husband. He let out a chuckle, removing his glasses and resting it on the bedside table.
“He sure has, I know you’ve been enjoying seeing him all flustered, but imagine what he’s going to be like when (Y/n) does come back.” and the two started giggling with each other.
“Oh lord, I hope we get a video of it. (Y/n)’s done a number on him, haven’t they.” She agreed.
“Dude what does (Y/n) mean by ‘news’?? Do they not know how rude it is to just leave someone on a cliff hanger like that?! And then we have to wait a whole day to find out the answer?! This is a sick game.” Denki whined from the other couch across from them. Him and the rest of the group were in his house just waiting around.
“You know what can get your mind off of it?” Mitsuki laughed, looking up from the papers in her hand. Denki looked at her with hope dancing his eyes. “You kids can go do your jobs as heroes.” she stated and the way Denki’s face dropped at her answer made her stand up with a chuckle.
“Honestly, their flight is 10 hours. Instead of waiting in my house and torturing yourselves, go and find some criminals and stop eating my food!” she exclaimed before making her way to the kitchen.
“That’s cold Mrs. Katsuki’s Mom! But I mean if the city really needs me or whatever I guess I’ll go.” Denki playfully rolled his eyes before getting off the sofa. The rest of them followed suit and before they could make their way towards the door, “Yeah yeah, here are some snacks for the road! Be safe!” they all took the cookies from her hands and waved thanks before leaving.
It was an excruciating 10 hours, not only for Katsuki with the waiting around while he got bored fighting criminals, but also for you, who’s ass was feeling numb due to sitting for so long. The little ‘ding dong’ from the pilot’s intercom rang.
“Good evening ladies and gentlemen, we have at last reached our destination here at Air Japan, we now ask that you put on your seat belts and give us a few moments to get everyone landed safely.” and with that, the sound of everyone’s seat belts clicked into place as the plane began its descent.
“Welcome to Tokyo International Airport, our flight attendants will help with carry-ons, all luggage can be found at baggage claim on the lower floor, thank you for flying with Air Japan.” and everyone was bumbling to get their stuff to get off the plane.
It wasn’t until you were walking through the exit tunnel that your heart started palpitating, you could feel it in your palms as you were gripping your bag. The deep breath that filled your lungs did little to help with the nervousness in your steps as you got closer to the entrance.
What am I so worried about? I saw these guys on Katsuki’s birthday when they all flew over. Why am I nervous to see them all again now?
You made your way down a level to get the large suitcase that arrived separately before looking around for your large group of friends. You thought you should call one of them but then a flash of blond hair caught your eye.
Through the other side of the glass wall was Katsuki, just Katsuki, staring back at you with a faint smile resting on his face. You took another deep breath before making your way towards him, but you barely got three steps outside before he threw himself onto you. His arms wrapped itself around you, pulling you into his embrace. His nose took in your scent as if it was the one thing keeping him from falling.
“You’re here, finally.” he grumbled into your hair and that was all it took for you to wrap your arms around him too. The two of you stood there for a good minute, arms not wanting to let the other go. He reluctantly did when the sound of a honking taxi ruined the moment.
“It’s good to be back..” you let out a breath you didn’t know you were holding, and the next inhale you took in was filled with his intoxicating cologne.
“Come on, you must be tired, let’s get you back home.” he brought you to his car and when the passenger’s door was open, there was a gift bag resting on the seat. You made eye contact with him as he went around to the driver’s side.
“It was supposed to be the gift for you when you left. I told you I’d keep it until you came back.” he smirked before you both settled into the car. He motioned for you to take the gift out and you took no time reaching in.
The soft fabric made contact with your fingertips before you pulled it out. In your hands rested a vermilion knitted scarf. On both ends of it were embroidered the explosion flares that matched the ones on the back of his hero mask. You couldn’t help the grin that came to your face when you saw it.
“You did this?” and you knew the answer before that question left your mouth.
“Yeah…it took a bit longer than I’d like to admit. I wanted you to have it since Canada tends to be colder than here. It killed me when I couldn’t give it to you before you left.” he explained before starting the car.
“Well, lucky I came back when it’s starting to get cold again huh?” The smile you sent him eased his worries as the car started taking off.
The two of you were silent for a few minutes, only the soft music playing was heard.
“So- where is everyone else? From your messages I thought everyone was coming?” you broke the silence.
“Oh, they figured you’d be exhausted from the new time adjustment so they’ll let you rest until tomorrow,” he answered.
“By the way, Izuku thought since I was the one picking you up, that you should stay with us? We have your guest bedroom all set up if you’re okay with it..” he added, his eyes not wanting to meet yours in case you rejected the offer.
“That sounds good. I really need to sleep in a familiar place tonight.” you didn’t know how tired you were until a yawn escaped you, and the soft music wasn’t helping at keeping you awake. Before you knew it, you were passed out in Katsuki’s car to the feeling of his steady driving and the passing road signs.
When he parked, Katsuki knew he had to be gentle, let you get as much rest as you could. He went over to the passenger’s side and hooked his arms under you to carry you out. His dad opened the front door for him (he heard the car pull in and the driver’s doors shutting) and went to help bring your stuff inside.
Katsuki brought you to the guest room and settled you down on the bed. Your unconscious self immediately wiggled further into the soft pillows as soon as he draped the blankets over you. Masaru left your bags on the floor at the end of the bed for you and the two left you alone to rest for the night.
When the next morning came around, you were disturbed from your sleep by the sound of loud yelling from the other side of the guest door.
“-Come on! It’s 1 in the afternoon! They’ve been asleep for 14 hours straight! I wanna see them!” that was Denki’s voice.
“Okay, just for that, you’ll be the last to see them. Leave my house.” Katsuki’s voice rang out. Denki laughed at his stern voice knowing he wasn’t serious. You mustered up the energy to get up, taking a moment to stretch, and going to open the door.
“(Y/N)!” Denki yelled before glomping you into a hug. You hugged back before meeting eyes with the rest of the group. Izuku was the next one to be hugged.
“I’m glad you got back alright.” Shinsou grinned before going in for his hug. One by one, everyone else got a hug too and they all let you freshen up before you met them all downstairs, meeting Mitsuki and Masaru’s hugs on the way.
“So! What’s the big news that you wanted to tell us? I’ve been on the edge all day.” Denki asks as soon as you sit down in between Shoto and Katsuki on the big couch.
“Well, I got promoted at my firm! They want me to supervise the junior designers!” you exclaimed, but the grin on your face slowly disappeared when their faces didn’t show any excitement as you’d hoped. Bakugou could feel his heart steeling up to hear you say what he dreaded.
“Does that mean…you’ll be there permanently?” Shoto asked, the frown on his face only making his puppy eyes more heartbreaking.
“That’s the best part! They’re transferring me to their newest branch right here in Japan! I’m staying here!” and that was when they roared to life with cheers. Bakugou felt his heart settle down with joy.
“WHY DIDN’T YOU START WITH THAT! I WAS ABOUT TO CRY!” Izuku yelled from his seat. And for the next several hours, you all spent the time talking to each other about everything that’s happened in the past two years. Katsuki couldn’t get the smile off his face, not that he wanted to in the first place.
When the evening came, you all separated ways, making sure to make plans to hang out soon to make up for lost time.
“Want to take a walk with me?” Katsuki asked, his hand holding the scarf he made you. You nodded before going to put on your shoes. He gently wrapped the scarf around your neck before you two went to take in the November air.
The sound of wind whistling through the autumn leaves accompanied you two for a few minutes.
“Hey, do you mind if I read you something? I don’t think there’s a better time than now…” he trailed off, fumbling with something from his pocket. You nodded, watching him pull out a small envelope with a card inside, and you swore you could hear him taking deep breaths to calm himself.
“Racking my brain for many days and many nights, For the right words to describe the way you make me feel. Like the fireplace warmth on a cold winter night, Like the first bite of food after starving for a meal,
Like discovering a new bloom On a long lasting plant. If I don’t say it now,  I might lose the chance.
(Y/n), I’m in love with you, I’ll say it a million times over if I must, I’ll wait forever if that’s what it takes, For me to gain back your trust.”
His voice wavered as he read over what he wrote for you two years ago. And the two of you stopped walking as he finished. His stomach was on fire and it shows through the heavy blush on his face (He blames the cold weather).
“Did you write that?” you asked, not looking over to him, your breathing was stilled, not wanting to believe your ears.
“I did. I meant to give it to you with the scarf.” he cast his eyes down at his shoes. He prayed to anything that was holy that you still had some feelings for him, that he still had a chance to make it right, that he hadn’t lost you.
“Do you mean it?” your voice was so quiet, he almost missed the question.
“Every word.” was his immediate answer.
He was done being stupid. He was done denying his feelings for you. He was done with his massive ego that almost cost your friendship.
“(Y/n), if you don’t feel the same way for me anymore, I completely understand. I royally messed up and I hurt you. But if some part of you still feels the same way, please give me the chance to show you how much you mean to me.” he stumbled and walked to stand in front of you. His movement had you looking up and making contact with his red eyes that had determination written all over.
“I just, don’t want to risk getting hurt again if this is a spur of the moment thing.” you explained to him and he was quick to shake his head.
“No, I promise you I’d sooner allow Shinsou to use his quirk on me than to ever hurt you again. It’s not a spur of the moment, I’ve waited two years for you and I’ll wait even more if you need time.” His eyes were begging you to believe him, and you’d never seen him like this before.
It tugged at your heartstrings, it nipped at your fingertips, it engulfed you whole; how much you loved him.
“One date.” you held up a finger to him to indicate your point. And his eyes lit up. His heartbeat raced.
“One date. Okay, okay good, great. Thank you!” he nodded and before he knew it, he planted a kiss on your cheek when he came in for a hug. It took the both of you by surprise, but it wasn’t unwelcome, indicated by the blushes on your cheeks.
Although he didn’t have a day in mind yet, Katsuki was planning to make you feel special whenever the day may be, and all the days after that. Yes, Shoto has called him whipped at least 6 times already, but he didn’t care (because, yes, he is.) There’s not a chance in hell he’s messing this up, he’s completely and hopelessly enamored of you, it’s about time he expressed it don’t you think?

Dec. 2nd: A Metal Christmas Concert
Day 2: Helping each other with Chores/Going to a concert or a play together
Here is day two of @comp-lady’s December writing challenge! It’s the farthest I have ever gotten on a writing prompt challenge so this is a very exciting time. I’m feeling very inspired right now! :) Please leave any critique (in a nice way because I'm sensitive) but I would love feedback to become a better writer. <3
Warnings: Swearing (I think that’s it for this one, if not, let me know?) Word Counts: 1.6k+ Words Pairings: Eddie Munson x Reader
“What do you say about accompanying me to a special event tonight?” Y/n asked as she stopped in front of a certain curly-headed boy’s locker.
“I would love to accompany you to a special event tonight, what’s the occasion?” Eddie responded as he opened his locker to grab his English notebook.
“I have these tickets to a concert tonight for an artist that I know you’d love to see,” Y/n responded to not give any important information away. She reached down, intertwining her hands with Eddie’s pulling him towards Mrs. O’Donnell’s class.
“Fuck yeah baby, do I know them?”
“You definitely know them,” Y/n said, standing on her tiptoes to press a kiss to Eddie’s cheek before finding her desk. “And I think they’re pretty metal.”
“Yeah?” Eddie questioned, his mind feeling fuzzy and his cheeks warming up at her touch. “I can’t wait to see this concert then, baby.”
“Quiet down, students,” Mrs. O’Donnell interrupted. “Take a seat, Mr. Munson, we do not have all day.”
“You got it,” Eddie grumbled before sitting down as y/n giggled beside him.
As the school day finished, Y/n gave Eddie a quick kiss before quickly walking out of the school to get into her car. “Please be at my house by 6, Eds! I just need to get ready!”
“I’ll be there at 5:50, sweets!” Eddie responded as Y/n closed her car door to drive off.
As soon as she got home, Y/n ran up to her bedroom to change for the concert. “Sissy, which dress am I supposed to wear?” A soft voice said from her doorway.
“Give me one second, sweet girl! Let me finish getting dressed and I’ll meet you in your room to help you get your special dress on !”
Y/n dressed quickly and went into the restroom to quickly refresh her makeup from the day. Tonight was her five-year-old sister, Macy’s, Christmas recital. They had been learning Christmas carols and jingles for the past few weeks at school and she knew how excited her sister was for this performance.
“Okay, love bug! Let’s get you dressed,” Y/n said, clapping her hands as she walked into her sister’s room. “Mom is going to meet us at the school so we need to get dressed and eat a snack before we go. And I might also have one surprise for you too if you’re really good!”
“A surprise?! What is it sissy?!”
“Let’s get dressed first! I can’t tell you the surprise because it’s supposed to be a secret, silly goose!”
Y/n walked to her sister’s closet, pulling out a red and green sparkly dress that her Mom bought specifically for this occasion, and Christmas of course. Then, she reached into her sister’s sock drawer to grab the frilly socks to wear under her adorable Mary Jane’s.
“Here you go love bug,” Y/n said, spinning around to her sister. “Let’s get you all dressed up and fed so we can go to your concert!”
“Do you think I could be famous for my concerts one day?” Macy asked. “I want to be a rockstar like Eddie!”
“Macy Mace, I’m sure if you ask the rockstar himself, he might tell you all of his secrets so that you can be a rockstar just like him,” Y/n assured her sister as she got a PB&J ready for her. She was so happy with the fact that her Mom and sister got along with Eddie and they loved him almost as much as she did. As Macy began to munch on her sandwich, they were interrupted by a knock at the door.
“Oh Macy girl, you better get the door, I think it might be your surprise!”
The little girl squealed before dropping her sandwich down on the table and running towards the front door. “Eddieeeee!” She yelled when the door was opened.
“Macy girl!” Eddie responded back just as enthusiastically.
“I missed you so much, do you like my pretty Christmas dress?” Macy asked Eddie as she twirled in front of him.
“You look like a sugarplum fairy, love bug,” Eddie said, his eyes crinkling with a smile as he repeated Y/n’s nickname for her sister.
“Macy Mace, let’s go finish your sandwich so we can go,” Y/n said, leaning on the doorway of the kitchen to watch the interaction unfold.
“Hey baby,” Eddie said, walking towards Y/n as Macy ran back into the kitchen.
“Hi,” Y/n whispered, reaching out to wrap her arms around Eddie before leaning up and giving him a kiss.
“Mm,” Eddie groaned, before breaking the kiss. “Are we dropping your sister off before the show tonight?”
“No baby, she’s coming with us! Ready to head out, love bug?”
“Yes, sissy!”
“Then let’s go, my loves!” Y/n yelled, grabbing her sister’s coat to help her put it on. After Macy was dressed, Y/n put on her own coat and grabbed Eddie’s hand. “Eds, we have to take my car so that Macy has her car seat. I’ll drive there if you drive us back?”
“Of course, baby,” Eddie mumbled, placing a quick peck on Y/n’s lips as he opened her door for her. “I’ll help Mace into her seat if you want to get the car started and warm?”
“Sounds like a plan,” Y/n said, sitting down in the driver’s seat. After Macy was situated and Eddie was in the passenger seat and buckled, Y/n took off down the road towards Hawkins Elementary School where the kindergarten class was set to perform with the rest of the grade school children. Once they were parked, Y/n looked over at Eddie to find a confused look in his eye.
“Why are we at the Elementary School?”
“To see my concert, duh,” Macy responded as she quickly unbuckled herself to get out of the car. “Sissy, let’s go, I have to make it to my classroom right now!”
“Okay, sweetie, let’s go,” Y/n said, unbuckling herself and getting out of the car. “Eds, can you go find three seats? My mom is supposed to meet us here so I promised to save her a seat.”
“Yeah, of course,” Eddie responded, still looking confused.
After dropping Macy off at her class, Y/n walked towards the auditorium to find Eddie. Due to the fact that he was wearing his normal attire of jeans, a Black Sabbath tee, and his Hellfire Club jean jacket, Y/n spotted him right away. “So the metal concert you wanted to take me to is your five-year-old sister’s Christmas program.”
“She promised me that it was a metal performance,” Y/n said, smiling as Eddie wrapped his arm around her.
“I was prepared for some Dio cover band outside of Hawkins, I’m sorry I’m dressed like a freak for this. If I had known, I would dressed more appropriately,” Eddie whispered, his insecurities oozing off of him.
“Baby, no,” Y/n said, turning to look at Eddie. “We don’t want you to change how you look. Macy was so excited for you to be here today. Do you know what she told me before she even knew you were coming? She asked me if I thought she could be famous for her concerts one day like you, Eds. We love you. You’re not a freak, these people just suck. I want you here just the way you are.”
“I love you,” Eddie said, putting his face in the crook of y/n’s neck and holding her tight.
“And I love you,” Y/n echoed, tightening her grip around Eddie.  Before long, Y/n's mom showed up and the lights darkened as the kids walked out on stage to begin singing. 45 minutes later, after each class sang a couple of Christmas carols, the students were escorted off the stage. “Please pick up your students at the classrooms. That ends our Annual Christmas Recital, thank you for coming and please get home safely!”
“Honey, can you and Eddie bring Macy home? I need to go back to the hospital and finish my shift, I should be home around 10 o’clock tonight,” Y/n’s mom said as she began to pass out hugs.
“Of course, Mom,” Y/n responded, grabbing Eddie’s hand as they walked out of the auditorium. Together, they walked down the school’s hallways to Macy’s classroom. As soon as they spotted the door, they could hear the five-year-old shouting.
“No! I’m telling you, it was a metal performance!”
“No, it wasn’t,” One of her classmates responded. “Christmas songs are not metal.”
“Well they won’t be with that attitude,” Macy responded, as she looked over, she spotted her sister and Eddie in the doorway, her eyes lighting up. “Eddie, do you think Christmas songs can be metal?”
“When you perform them, love bug? They’re the most metal songs I’ve ever heard,” Eddie responded as he walked over to Macy and picked her up.
“See, Clara, I told you so,” Macy remarked. “See you later!”
Eddie, with Macy in his arms, walked over to Y/n before putting an arm around her shoulders and leading the crew out of the school and towards Y/n’s car.
“You did an incredible job tonight, little Miss,” Y/n said as she sat in the passenger seat and Edie buckled Macy in.
“Thank you sissy,” Macy said. “Eddie, how many times do I have to perform a concert before I am a rockstar like you?”
“Oh Mace,” Eddie said, his eyes becoming misty as he smiled. “You are already a rockstar, you’re probably a bigger rocker than I am!”
You think so?” Macy squealed. “Do you think I can perform with you, then?”
“I think that can be arranged,” Eddie responded as Y/n took his hand in hers and squeezed it.
“I love you,” Y/n whispered to the boy with shaky breaths beside her his emotions becoming too much.
“And I love you, baby.”
“What about me? I love you sissy and I love you Eddie,” Macy responded, feeling left out as they turned onto Y/n’s driveway.
“And I love you too, Macy girl,” Eddie responded, putting the car in park and turning to look at the five-year-old with soft eyes. “I love you guys so much.”

I don't know where else to put this so I'm putting it here because no one here knows me IRL. So I was raised in an abusive home. Neglect was part of that abuse and part of that neglect was dental care. I didn't go to the dentist; there wasn't a bedtime routine beyond getting the hell out of sight and staying that way. You weren't called for dinner, and if you didn't show up, you didn't eat and it was your fault. So I had a real thing for snacks, usually the cheap sugary crap, wherever and whenever I could get it. A bag of Cheetos could be lunch. I could have popcorn for dinner if I didn't get to the table in time. It was super easy to scrounge change from around the house and hit up a convenience store. Sometimes, my mom would give me money to go get her a coffee, and I'd get a bagel. Anyway, a bunch of my childhood teeth rotted out. Parent's didn't care because I would just get my adult teeth in most of their places. But by the time I was 12, I had this horrible toothache. My parents are divorced. I told my mom about my toothache, and she told me I had to ask my dad for insurance paperwork. I only saw my dad every other two weeks, for the weekend, so two weeks later, I'd go ask my dad. Nope, your mom has the paperwork. Essentially, they were using me to try to make one another look bad. Meanwhile, the toothache got worse. I was in so much pain I was in tears all the time.
I can't remember how many times they sent me back and forth, only that my step mom started getting involved and getting really upset. I think my children's lawyer appointed by the courts got involved. Honestly, I can't really remember after the pain and crying and begging for someone to do something. Finally, mom was court ordered to take me to the dentist. They filled in a lot of my teeth. One of them they could just barely save. I didn't have much of a concept of what was happening at the time, only that I was in pain.
When I looked in my mouth for the first time and saw all the silver-black fillings I sobbed. I asked my mom, how could you let this happen? Why didn't you just take me to the dentist? She said, "I told you to brush your teeth." After that I had extreme dental anxiety. I mean, again, not that we fucking went. The next time I went to the dentist, I was in college having my impacted wisdom teeth taken out. My sister worked as a dental hygienist and I got the work for free because her boss loved her. The dentist told me I would lose my teeth if I didn't start taking care of them. It was the first time in my life I was starting to have control.
So I started flossing. I started putting money aside to go to the dentist, even if it meant not eating. I'd be the one college kid in the shroom trip excusing themselves to brush their teeth at 4AM.
I'm 30 now but the trauma is not gone.
This year I realized I had pain when biting down. I went for a check-up. Apparently, these fillings expand and contract and over time, because they were so big, caused a fracture on one of my teeth. I needed a root canal. At first, I was horrified. I'm self employed, don't have insurance, and just had a fucking root canal a couple years ago.
The financial aspect had me asking, how long am I going to suffer from their abuse? How long is the trauma going to take from me?
I booked my surgery. I paid out of my credit card. I cried as I was sitting in the seat before they put the needle in and could barely make myself talk when the nurse pinned it on the head, asking if I had anxiety, then gave me a shoulder hug that I honestly really appreciated. I calmed myself down and we did the surgery.
When I opened my mouth after paying the 1.2k just for the root canal (Which may not actually help, the fracture was quite deep and if the pain continues they may suggest just pulling it) I looked and saw that white composite filling, right next to my other new white composite filling.
Two of my old fillings are now white. I have two white teeth. And I hate to say it, but I did cry again. I cried because I was happy.
It feels like I'm rebuilding what they tore down. I'm taking back what they took away. I'm the adult now and I can take myself to the dentist and I can make sure I eat and I can look in my mouth and see that I am doing all of the things that they were supposed to. I wasn't my fault; because if I had have been in control, and been the adult, this wouldn't have happened. I know, because I won't let it happen to myself now - no matter how dire the straits, the circumstances. I needed the surgery, I got it. And now I have my tooth back. Literally, this dentist changed my whole tooth. It looks so normal.
Yes I will struggle to pay it off - but I will pay it off. Yes it hurts that something so simple has made my life so difficult and painful and expensive when it didn't have to be. And it hurts that to this day, I can't bring up my teeth without my parents simply blaming the other, blaming me, and putting it to bed.
It hurts that I will always have bad anxiety when it comes to dental work.
But the feeling of taking back my life is indescribable. I feel like I'm taking 12 year old me by the hand, rolling my eyes, and saying, "Come on, kid. These people are fucking nuts. Call them once at Christmas, and let's go have a good time while we can."

The poll
Ficlet based off this poll
The moment he walked into his home's living room after a long, daunting day of lessons, the last thing Jin Ling had expected was to find his dad sitting on their couch, elbows on his knees, a fornlorn stare directed towards his work macbook on the glass coffee table. His eyebrows were furrowed in anger, one of his hands covering his mouth in disbelief.
It wasn't often Jin Ling saw his father like this - last time it happened, there was a stock market crash that almost sent their company reeling and that had Jin Zixuan work overtime for three months to deal with the fallout.
But Jin Ling had checked the stock market forecast for that day already and nothing else notable happened to put the company in jeopardy - so something else must have happened to have his dad stare at his laptop like it owed him money.
"Everything okay, dad?"
Without taking his eyes off the screen, Jin Zixuan huffed a disapproving "Hm."
"Where's mom?"
"Here, A-Ling." Yanli replied, emerging from the kitchen with two cups of steamy herbal tea. She set them onto the table and left a kiss on her son's forehead.
"What's going on?" He insisted, "You can tell me, I won't freak out or anything, I can take it. Did something happen with the company? Did a deal fall through or something?"
Yanli gave a long, tired sigh. "Come look, A-Ling."
Joining his father on the couch, he glanced at the laptop screen and frowned. Somebody had made a poll listing out various names (of Jin Ling's uncles, uncles-in-law and uncles-in-spirit) and asking which of them was the hottest cultivator.
Wei Wuxian was clearly in the lead, with over half of the votes, followed by Lan Wangji, uncle Jiang, Nie Mingjue, Lan Xichen... and far down the list, with a percentage switching between 0 and 1%, his dad and uncle Jin Guangyao.
"....Why are you on tumblr, first of all? And second, is this why you're so upset?!"
"This is terrible, A-Ling!" Jin Zixuan wailed, Yanli sitting beside him to rub his back comfortingly. She appeared absolutely done with the situation, however she still tried to be kind and supportive of her husband.
"It's a tumblr poll, dad." Jin Ling rolled his eyes. "Is it that important?"
"Of course it is! People don't find me attractive anymore! I used to be the third hottest after the Twin Jades! Now look at this! Lan Wangji I get, but - Wei Wuxian?! Are you serious?!"
"He is pretty hot, objectively speaking."
Jin Zixuan gasped, scandalized. "Jin Rulan! How dare you?!"
His father's outburst didn't sway Jin Ling. "What, don't you have eyes?! It's true! Do you think Hanguang-Jun would marry someone ugly?!"
Jin Zixuan huffed an annoyed breath at that, glaring even further at his laptop for a few seconds, begrudgingly seeming to agree... before his rant resumed. "And what about Jiang Wanyin then?! How is he hotter than me?! He's angry all the time! He never even had a girlfriend! Or a boyfriend! I know he's your brother, A-Li, but, he's just some guy that needs therapy! What does he have that I don't?!"
"Zidian." Both Jin Ling and Jiang Yanli responded in unison.
Jin Zixuan paused for a few more seconds, before angrily throwing his hands up. "I guess!"
Jin Ling was quite sure that if he rolled his eyes again, they'd get stuck in the back of his head. "This is so dumb."
"To you! It matters to me! I thought I was a DILF! I'm rich, I have a 6 pack, I'm a CEO - but no, everyone is wet for the fucking grandmaster of demonic cultivation for some reason!"
"I'm going to my room. I've had enough dumbassery dealing with Jingyi today, I don't need my own father agonizing over a fucking tumblr poll!"
"I made you a snack, A-Ling. It's on your desk." Yanli said, momentarily distracting her husband by giving him tea. "We are having a family dinner at the Four Seasons later, so it's just something to tide you over, okay?"
"Dinner!" Zixuan suddenly exclaimed again, beyond scandalized. "That bastard Wei Wuxian is going to be so fucking smug about this! I'd rather be fucking eviscerated than have to deal with him!"
Jin Ling sighed and dragged himself up the stairs. "You're so dramatic for no reason! That's why people don't find you hot!"

Y/N POV
It was summer and Nate was outside playing with the kids as I was inside, making a snack for them. “Mommy!” NJ runs inside, his hair was wet and droplets of water fell down his face. “Don’t fall.” I warned him as he hides behind me. “What going on?” He giggles softly. “We have a water fight with daddy.” I smiled and cut his fruit down in smaller pieces. “Is he in here?” Nate says as he stands in the door opening, his shirt wet and so was his face. “What happened?” I said out laughing. “Water fight, is he in here?” I shook my head and continued with the preparing the snacks. “You sure?” “I’m sure, he’s probably hiding in the shed.” He hums and runs off. “You should run NJ, he will come back if he doesn’t find you in there.” “Okay, thank you.” NJ walks to the door and sprints off. “Idiots.”
I walked outside with NJ and Nikayla’s snack and something to eat for Nate and I. “Guys! I have some snacks.” I sat the tray down on the table and took a seat, waiting for them. Nikayla was the first one who showed up at the table. “Hi sweetie.” “Hi mommy.” She was wet as well and was a bit shivering. “Are you cold sweetie.” She shook her head and sat down on her chair. “No.” ‘Okay…if you say so.’ I gave her, her bowl with some fruit and poured in some lemonade for her. “Guys!” I yelled again and gave her, her cup. “There you go.” She immediately starts to drink her lemonade. NJ runs up, completely soaked in water. “I’m hungry.” He sits down and immediately digs into his fruit bowl. “NJ, we normally wait for each other.” “Yes NJ.” Nikayla says right after me as she crosses her arms. “Sorry.” I gave him his lemonade and Nate walks up, also soaked in water. “Hi baby.” He smiles and leans over to me. “No! Stay there, you’re wet.” He chuckles and throws his shirt off, revealing his muscular upper body. “Better?” I nodded and he gave me a small kiss on my cheek. “Daddy, mommy made us some food.” Nikayla says as she was still waiting for the signal that she can eat. “I see.” He sits down and I nodded at her, she immediately starts to eat. I gave Nate a wink and he laughs as he eats his sandwich.
The kids were tired after a whole day spending with their dad. I was currently upstairs, putting Nikayla to bed after her bath. “Now it’s time to sleep, here is bubbles.” I gave her, her stuffed animal named bubbles and tucked her in. “I love you mommy.” My heart swelled up and kissed her forehead. “I love you too sweetheart.” She softly yawns and closes her eyes. “Tell daddy I love him too.” “I will.” I turned off her lights and closed her door. Nate was downstairs with NJ, watching some old fights. “Okay, you have 30 min left and then it’s bedtime for you as well.” I said to NJ who was trying to be invisible next to Nate. “Sorry buddy, your mom is right.” Nate says and shot me a wink. I shook my head and grabbed myself a glass of wine and disappeared outside to our jacuzzi. I sat my glass down and slowly peeled my clothes off till I was left in my bikini. “Some me time.”
45 mins later Nate walked up, leaning against the doorpost. “Hey baby.” He says with a sly smile on his face. “Hi daddy.” I say teasingly as I subtly stretch my arms to show my cleavage. He shook his head and walks over to the tub. “I know what you’re doing.” I innocently shook my head. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” He smiles and got in the tub as well, as he was wearing his swim shorts the whole day. I stretched my legs and lay my feet on his lap, he took the hint and started to rubbed them, I let out a small sigh and lay my head back. “Are they asleep?” “Ni is asleep but jay isn’t asleep yet.” I nodded and started to tease him with my other foot, moving my toes against his stomach. “Baby…stop teasing me.”
Nate POV
She was the whole day teasing me, looking so good and acting so innocent with me that I couldn’t take it anymore. “I’m not doing anything wrong.” Her foot started to move again and I grabbed it as well, holding both of her feet now. “Baby stop.” She pouts and I rolled my eyes at her. “You are no fun.” She says and took a sip from her wine. “Baby we can’t, Jay is not asleep yet.” “He won’t come down, he will probably play in his room.” She gently pulls her legs back and moved closer to me, straddling my legs as she sits down on my lap. Her arms were wrapped around my shoulders and I held her by her waist. “Come on daddy, let’s have some fun with me.” She ducked her head down to my neck and started to kiss me there. “You want some fun?” She hums and nibbles on my skin. My hands went down to her ass and I squeezed in them. “You sure?” She looks up and nods. “I’m sure.” I started to kiss her and untied her bikini top. My hands roamed around her back as she started to move her hips against me.
I gently pushed myself in her as she softly moans against my shoulder. She starts to move up and down slowly as I played with her tits. “Fuck…you’re so beautiful.” She shyly smiles and grabs my shoulders for stability and moves a bit faster. The water started to hit the sides of the tub and I held her firmly, not waiting her to stop. “So good for me baby.” As I was complementing her I heard a small sound coming out from the kitchen. I stopped her and looked behind me. “Shit.” I mumbled and saw the staircase door was open. “Stay here.” She got off me and I pulled my pants up and got out of the water. “Jay? Is that you?” I walked inside and saw Ni sitting on the sofa with her stuffed animal in her hands. “No daddy it’s me.” “Hi princess, why are you not sleeping?” “Bubbles couldn’t sleep.” ‘Oh fuck that guy.’ “Really?” She nods and walks over. “Why are you covered in water?” “Me and mommy are swimming.” She nods and smiles. “Can you tell bubbles a bedtime story?” ‘No I can’t, your mom is waiting for me.’ “Sure, come let’s go upstairs.”
After a solid 10 minutes of telling her a made up story she fell asleep, I silently checked on Jay but he was surprisingly asleep. I walked quietly downstairs and saw she was still waiting for me. ‘Thank god.’ I closed the door behind me and got back in the tub. “Sorry, almost got caught by our own daughter.” She giggles and moves on top of me. “Why was she awake.” She asks as she kisses my neck, getting me hard again. “Stupid little animal couldn’t sleep.” “Bubbles?” “Yeah that guy.” She smiles and straks to move her hips again. I got hard again and grabbed her waist. “Let’s finish what we started baby.” I whispered in her ear.
She was riding me so fucking good that I almost nutted in her 10 times before she even got her first orgasm. “Fuck babe, if you keep doing this I’m cumin inside of you.” She moves her hands down my chest and keeps softly moaning my name. “Nate…” my name rolls so beautifully over her tongue, her eyes closed and she was biting down on her lips. “Come on baby, come for me, make daddy proud.” I encouraged her as I couldn’t wait anymore. My hands went down and rubbed her clit. “Come on baby, I feel you…” she was squeezing me the whole time and I started to come. She was close as she hide her face against my neck and scratched my back. “Daddy!” She moans against my neck and I immediately came inside of her as I groaned against her shoulder. “Fuck…” I grabbed her face and she smiles. “Did you…?” She nods and kissed me. “Really?” “Really.”
I cleaned up our mess in the jacuzzi as she went upstairs to make herself ready for going to bed. As I walked down the hallway I saw a picture of our family, smiling happily towards the camera. A proud feeling filled my heart and I smiled at it. “Fuck I’m so lucky.” I went upstairs and checked on the kids, both sleeping peacefully. I walked to our bedroom and saw she was also already asleep, looking so beautiful. I quickly changed my clothes and joined her, pulling her close to me. She whines as I pulled her close to my chest. “It’s okay baby, it’s me.” She immediately relaxes and nuzzles her head against my chest. “I love you Nathan.” “I love you baby.” I kissed her head and she peacefully fell asleep against my chest as I stayed awake for a bit, to admire her beauty.

Dad Duty
Tumblr media
A/n: I finally got some inspiration back and decided to write a flashback fic from the younger days😂
Tumblr media
You were exhausted, plain and simple. You had woken up with not only a migraine but your monthly visit as well. Chris could see that as you stood in the kitchen with Dani resting on your hip, rubbing your eyes in frustration as Ryan and Brayden fought over who gets the prize in the cereal box and little Brandon waiting patiently for his brothers to hand over the box. You were just not having it today. Chris came right over and scooped Danica right out of your arms “go lay down and get some rest”
You sighed “Chris I can’t, I have to much to do today” he nodded his head “okay so I’ll do it. I’ll take care of everything that needs to be done” you raised a brow “the laundry?” “Done.” You crossed your arms “Dusting and vacuuming the house?” “Done and done” you narrowed your eyes “taking the kids to their play group at the park?” “Totally on it. I’ll even go grocery shopping with the kids” you laughed and saw he wasn’t kidding “oh you’re actually serious? You think you can go grocery shopping by yourself with four kids under the age of ten?” He nodded and shrugged his shoulders “yeah, I don’t see the problem?” You snorted “yeah okay. Can’t wait to see how that’s gonna go”
“Have a little faith pretty bird” you looked at the boys who were watching you and Chris intently “I don’t know Chris..” He shifted Danica to his other hip and leaned in to kiss the side of your head “I’m their father sweetheart, I can take care of our kids. They’ll be fine” you nodded “alright fine but if anything happens and you need me just tell me” he nodded “you got it pretty bird”. With that you walked over to the boys and gave them each a kiss and walked away to get some much needed rest.
When Chris looked back at the boys Ryan had a shit eating grin on his face “you’re gonna be crying to mom before you know it” Chris nodded “you’re nine years old, you don’t scare me” He and Brayden giggled. Chris walked over and took the cereal box from them “just for that, Brandon gets the prize in the box” Brandon’s face lit up “yes!”
Dani patted her fathers cheek with her little hand for his attention “down daddy” he nodded “alright piglet” he set her down and she took off. Ryan laughed “yeah by the way, she’s a runner” Chris put his hands on his hips “you were a runner too Ryan. Only we had to put a leash on you”. Ryan’s jaw dropped and Brayden started laughing
Dani ran right back and tried running past Chris but he scooped her up and tickled her tummy “gotcha little monster” she giggled and he sat her down at the table “finish eating your breakfast while I start the laundry. Then we’ll head to the park” Ryan smirked “you sure you trust us alone?” Chris shook his head “you don’t pull this on your mom so don’t think you can pull it on me Ryan”
*****
The day had been going great, Chris was able to do the laundry, vacuum the house and dust. The kids even behaved at the park while playing with their friends. Now they just had to tackle the grocery store. Chris had Danica sitting in the cart and the twins hanging off each side while Ryan walked ahead of them. They were behaving until Chris stopped in the cereal aisle. He bent down to pick up a box of cheerios. When he stood and looked at the cart, the boys were no where to be found.
His eyes widened and he looked at Dani “where’d they go piglet?” She held her hands up and shrugged “dunno daddy” He narrowed his eyes “I’ll get you ice cream on our way home if you tell me” She thought about it “two scoops?” He nodded and she nodded back “deal. They went to get snacks”
Chris took off with the cart and Dani, hitting the candy aisle first. He found the twins and Brandon’s eyes widened “uh oh” and Brayden huffed “busted”. Chris snatched them right up and put them in the cart with Dani and gave them a stern look “where’s the ring leader?” Brayden crossed his arms and pouted while Brandon kept wringing his little hands. Chris nodded “tell me now or no PlayStation for two months”. Brayden’s jaw dropped “that’s no fair!” Chris raised a brow “no? How about we make it three then?” Brayden groaned and Brandon finally caved “he went to go get the cookies that mommy gets”
Chris raced over to the bakery section of the store with the kids. He found Ryan right by the chocolate chip cookies. He walked up behind Ryan and grabbed the back of his shirt to pull him away. Ryan snapped, not realizing yet that it was his father who grabbed him “let go! My dads here and he’s the human torch! He can kick your butt!” He turned Ryan around and Ryan’s eyes went wide “aw shit” Chris nodded “yeah aw shit Ryan. What the hell were you thinking?! And don’t even try to say that mom lets you because I know that’s not true!”
He shrugged and gestured to his siblings “I’m not little like them so I thought I could” Chris took a breath “Ryan you are nine years old, you are still a little kid. Do you understand how incredibly dangerous what you just did is? Do you know how devastated your mom and I would be if we lost you?”
Ryan’s eyes watered and his bottom lip quivered “I’m sorry” Chris shook his head and pulled Ryan into a hug. “You can’t do that again Ry, it’s not safe. Do you understand that?” Ryan just nodded against Chris while hugging him. Chris rubbed his back “it’s alright buddy”. After a moment they pulled away and Chris looked at each of the kids “come on, let’s pay for this and get home”
*******
True to his word, he stopped for ice cream for Danica on the way home. Brayden grumbled the entire time that she shouldn’t have gotten ice cream since she was a tattletale but he quickly quieted down when Chris bought the boys ice cream too.
Once the got home, the kids all ran inside while Chris carried the groceries in. He saw you waiting for him in the kitchen. He put everything down and rushed over to you and picked you up to give you the biggest hug “I love you so so much pretty bird” you laughed and nodded “the kids were a nightmare weren’t they?” He nodded “big time”.

i hope y’all like reading cz it’s storytime! 🗣️
lemme tell y’all ab the time i (allegedly) got two ppl onna hitlist when i was like 10 or 11
Tumblr media
so in middle school (sixth grade i think it was) i stayed at this after school program cz my momma didn’t get off work til, like, four to five. we would eat snacks, talk shit, do hw, normal middle schooler stuff.
there was this one strange new-ish kid that just gave everyone weird vibes.. he was one of the class clowns, nd real disrespectful. he was also a lil mean so i didn’t really fw him. we gon call him jason.
one time, me n some other sixth graders were in a science classroom doing work and talking or wtv, and bro is sitting at a table by himself with a computer turned away from everyone. i’m talking those large black lab tables. i was w my friend (we gon call her lara) and she’s always been really pretty, so she was one of the girls all the guys would crush on.
including this nigga apparently.
atp, wbk that he wanted her cz he didn’t try to hide it. she js wasn’t interested 🤷‍♀️
me n lara were sitting across the room, minding our black ass business and jason started doing that thing with your eyebrows where you wiggle them up n down real fast in attempt to be “seductive.” he was smirking too. at lara.. from ACROSS THE ROOM!!
idk y.. but i came to the conclusion that bro was up to no good on that laptop. i had just learned how to check search history, so i walked my ass on over there unprovoked and pulled up his history. i cannot tell you what possessed me bc idk.
the last page he was on was youtube and ts said “sex”
like JUST sex.
i just gasp then look at him like he’s crazy and then eb starts walking over and looking while jason swears up and down it wasn’t him that looked that up. this other girl (we gon call her diana) was being loud as hell, basically indirectly snitching. the teacher that was watching us eventually caught on and came over. she was so pissed. she made us shut down all the computers and go down to the library 😭 she also said sumn ab not letting us use them again, but obv that wasn’t gna work. we needed them to do hw…
yk middle schoolers are EVIL.. so this one guy, (we gon call him ryan) and this diana were js dogging on jason’s ass like he wasn’t right there with his head hung in shame 🚶‍♀️i never liked those two. they were bullies frl
when jason’s mom came to get him, the teacher snitched ab his search history and that was the start of his villian origin story..
fast forward to idk when, i’m starting to hear that jason is gna shoot up the school and that he’s coming for ryan and diana first?? and at some point in time, he had stopped coming to school.. so we were all freaked tf out. he didn’t mention my name though, so i was like 🙆‍♀️💆‍♀️💁‍♀️ yes, i remain untouched!
n e way, word spread that bro was gna shoot up the school. nobody knew where it was coming from tho, like there was no source
i was sittin’ there like “damn, if everyone dies then it’s kinda my fault..” and diana gon agree w me.. like girl.
anyway nothing happened, thank gawd. me and jason had english class tg, but when he stopped coming to school, he never came back. my english teacher said that everyone was spreading nasty rumors about him so he had to transfer. she was like “poor kid”… GIRL.
i don’t know if he ever truly claimed to shoot up the school or if it was even him lookin up “sex” on the computer 😭 all of this is a mystery to me!
nobody ever found out that i was lowk the one that started this mess 🤫 i wasn’t “popular” unlike miss diana and ryan, so nobody was gna talk ab me. those mfs were real life bullies. this is y you be nice to everyone 🙃 there’s a reason i wasn’t a “target”
whew, anyway.
moral of the story: don’t fuck around and you won’t have to worry about finding out! 👍

my phone is being annoying but BOOK EMOJI
ahahaha omg 😂 ok so book emoji, talking about a fic i have in my head but have never written down!
stereotypical amnesia fic beneath the cut, lol
Roxanne gets into some kind of accident and hits her head. Wakes up in the hospital with her mother dozing in a chair. Mom is OVERJOYED Roxanne is awake; it's been sort of touch and go for a while as to whether she would wake up at all. She's had people working on a solution but this will be such good news, hooray, she's lucid, she's feeling mostly fine--
And then Roxanne sees the ring on her finger, and oh. Okay. She is not fine, actually. She's lost nearly all of the last three years, and several prior to that are exceptionally spotty.
Her mom is left with the unenviable position of navigating some...ah...fairly major news. Yes, you're very happy together. Three rings, right, wedding band and two engagement; you're sort of...well, also married to his best friend? What's that word your brother is...? Aromantic, queerplatonic, yes. Neither of them is anyone I would have ever picked for you, but you're happy and I do know when I'm beaten, so... well, anyway, the only reason your man isn't here is I made him go home to take a shower and a nap. And to start putting together a better MRI scanner so he would stop fretting over your charts. Yes, he's building it himself. And no I haven't said his name yet, and... yes you do probably already know him, it's just-- well, you see-- um-- tell, tell you what, let's call Wayne, shall we? I think this will probably sound a little better coming from Wayne--
So that's a thing.
Roxanne takes the news...not well, but not totally poorly either. Mostly she's just stunned. But if her mother can admit she's happy with Megamind, that says a lot. That's...promising. Reassuring. And Wayne confirms everything her mother has said, which is similarly reassuring.
Megamind, on the other hand, takes it VERY poorly. Wayne says she's awake and his heart leaps, and then Wayne says there's a slight problem, her last clear memory of you is from early 2009, and his heart sort of collapses in his chest. He's been working on his self-worth and has come a long way but he's had a long two weeks and right now, from where he's sitting, all he can think is that Roxanne was a miracle that is not going to happen twice. This is absolutely the end for them. He'll start researching divorce lawyers immediately.
(Roxanne is initially of the opinion that yes, that is probably for the best, but Wayne convinces her to at least give the little guy a chance. Come on, Roxie, for Minion’s sake. Please?)
From here it's sort of...Roxanne slowly regaining her footing. Traumatic brain injuries are a helluva drug; her mind works differently from how it used to and it's a struggle sometimes in ways she doesn't expect. And she can't remember things she wants to and it's SO disorienting, and Megamind and Minion are obviously both struggling as well for other reasons but they are being so lovely with her, and she keeps shying away and it's awful, she hates it. Megamind gave her a photo album to maybe help her put some things together, and it isn't really working yet but maybe if she just keeps at it she'll be able to remember just a little more-- okay, Wayne was right, he is worth trying, but come ON, brain, fucking WORK--
Megamind wanders down to the kitchen in the wee hours one morning a few weeks later for a snack or something and Roxanne is there with the album. She's...having a little bit of a moment. Little bit of a cry. She's sitting at the kitchen table looking at this one picture that someone took of all three of them-- Megamind and Roxanne and Minion when they were on some vacation somewhere together and Roxanne snuck up behind the other two to pounce on them and hug both of them at once. So she's in the middle with her arms around their shoulders and all three of them are laughing. And she's like, "I can't remember this and I WANT TO, we look so HAPPY and I don't know if I'll ever get any of this back-- you're so sweet to me now and your bed smells like home and I don't know why and I want to, I want to--"
He's been keeping his distance since she came home. Has been waiting and letting her initiate whatever contact between them. But he goes to her now and pulls her into a hug without thinking because he cannot fucking stand it, and she just wraps her arms around him as hard as she can.
"Okay," he says, patting her hair and trying to think of what to do and mostly just wanting to burst into tears right along with her. "Okay. It's okay."
It's not okay. It's not okay and she doesn't know how to make it be okay, but it's been a few weeks and Roxanne is tired of waiting to maybe remember and tired of hoping for something that isn't coming and tired in general, and so she asks him to come to bed with her. Just stay with her, please; she's freaking out and she wants to be held, and fuck it. Fuck it. Come to bed.
In the morning at breakfast, hearing all this, Minion says, okay. So, photo album isn't working, or if it is it's not working the way we were hoping for. New plan: let's go on another trip? Let's all go somewhere together. Traveling. Maybe go see some places we've seen already, definitely go see some places we've never seen. Maybe your old memories will come back and maybe they won't, but either way we'll make new memories and have a good time making them. Let's go.
.............And idk if that's the end of the story or if there's more story that's just them going around places. I haven't played much with the traveling itself

Pairing: (lowkey) Robert 'Bob' Floyd x Mickey 'Fanboy' Garcia
Summary: The first night at The Hard Deck Bob finds a friendly face, someone who he instantly feels comfortable around. Although Bob maybe hopes to get to be more than friends with the sweet Fanboy. (And maybe Fanboy already has a girlfriend but maybe that's not a problem to them at all... This is me setting up the scene for a possible throuple later on bc I'm self-indulgent like that)
Words: 1.3k
Warnings: none.
Notes: I realize literally no one asked for this pairing, so to those on my taglist, feel free to skip if you're not feeling it! But, well, I asked for this pairing bc I want them both? And they're very cute I think. So I hope you enjoy this silly little piece!
Massive thank you to @a-reader-and-a-writer and @lorecraft for beta and encouragement❤️ ilyily
Part 2 | MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
Bob was early. He liked to be early.
Or maybe he was just always so anxious – anxious about meeting new people or being late or just most new situations – that he panicked and left home way too early.
But that was okay. It gave him time to take in The Hard Deck, its people, and the overall vibes of the early evening. He got himself a water and some snacks from the friendly bartender, Penny, and chatted a few moments with her until she had to go serve other customers.
Bob picked up his water and his cup of peanuts and went to sit at the high bar stools next to the pool table. It would be an excellent place to people-watch, which he liked to do. It was fun to observe people and how they behaved, what faces they made and how they moved, trying to guess what they were doing or feeling at any moment. It was interesting to him, something he had always liked to do. His mom was the same way. Quieter and liking to observe, always very aware of her surroundings.
However, it wasn’t until two guys dressed in Navy khakis – like he was – walked up to the pool table that things got truly interesting for personal reasons too.
Bob spotted their patches sporting their callsigns as well as the ribbons on their chests. Pilots, and extremely successful pilots at that. Even before Bob heard them talk about a mysterious upcoming mission, he knew they were all there for the same reason.
He could have crossed the short distance to the two pilots and introduced himself, but looking at the two men who both honestly looked like they had stepped off a fashion magazine page, and knew it, Bob knew they wouldn’t give him the time of day anyway. Unless maybe he fell onto his knees to worship the successful, handsome pilots, but he wasn’t really feeling like doing that. Bob quietly snorted to himself and continued to watch the two friends play a game of pool full of funny banter and trash talk.
The second truly interesting thing wasn’t even something he spotted at first. It was the blond pilot, Hangman, who called out, “What do we have here?”, as a dark-haired woman (Phoenix, Hangman called her) with two guys in tow stopped in front of Hangman and the other, Coyote.
Bob watched with increasing amusement as the woman introduced Hangman as Bagman to her two companions, and the duo behind her proceeded to help her roast him. Payback and Fanboy seemed like a well-oiled machine already based on this interaction, and Bob was willing to bet they were a team used to flying together.
Maybe he paid special attention to Fanboy. Maybe Bob’s gaze lingered on the other man’s gorgeous, warm eyes. And maybe he found the hard set of Fanboy’s jawline almost irresistible.
Bob realized he was staring and quickly looked down before anyone noticed.
“When did you get here?”
He lifted his head, suddenly finding all their eyes fixed on him.
“Oh, I-I’ve been here the whole time,” he smiled and nodded awkwardly. Drat, maybe they thought he was a creepy weirdo for just sitting there and watching without saying anything.
“The man’s a stealth pilot,” Hangman commented.
“Literally,” added Coyote.
As if sitting there awkwardly with peanut crumbs in his lap wasn’t enough, Bob further embarrassed himself by taking Hangman’s joke about him being a stealth pilot literally. This always happened, he didn’t realize someone was making a joke and he had to correct them and–
“And with no sense of humor.”
Hangman dismissed him, just like that.
“What do they call you?” the woman asked. She was the one who had noticed him there in the first place.
“Bob.”
“No, your callsign,” the tall one, Payback, asked with a small grin.
“Uh…” He swallowed nervously, “B-Bob.”
This was not going super well for him. People usually chuckled a little learning his callsign, but he didn’t care enough to start always explaining that it wasn’t because his name was Robert. People didn’t explain their callsigns. Of course, if you were someone cool like Coyote, you probably never had to anyway.
It turned out he was Phoenix’s new backseater, and he felt relieved that her first instinct wasn’t to dismiss him too. She did, however, give him an appraising look with her sharp eyes, but apparently, he passed the test, because she then handed him a pool cue and told him to play.
The WSO felt relief wash over him, and he even smiled as he got up and approached the table. At least it seemed he would get along well with his pilot, which was already a win.
He relaxed more as the game went on, chatting with Phoenix, and even Payback and Fanboy had joined in. Bob liked the duo right away. They were really funny and overall a good time, and they were both very kind despite their tendency to joke around and rib people.
Bob stuck close to Fanboy for the most part, immediately hitting it off with the other WSO. They found common interests even outside of their shared job, and Bob quickly learned (without asking) that Fanboy’s callsign most likely stemmed from the guy being able to rattle off all sorts of facts about the things he loved. Bob found it endearing, and even better, it allowed him to mostly listen to the shorter man talk without needing to contribute as much himself.
Bob was also like 75% sure Fanboy threw a few lightly flirty lines at him, which made his stomach flutter pleasantly, but Bob was never good at trusting those instincts (what if he read it totally wrong?!). He kept blushing a little, but Fanboy didn’t seem to mind.
It was easier to interact with the rest of the people now, too. Bob always felt like he needed one safe person, one anchor, and then he could feel a lot more comfortable. Now he had at least two anchors, in the form of his pilot and the other WSO.
Even Coyote was friendlier now. When Hangman snatched the pool cue right out of Bob’s hand (Hangman clearly had his focus only on Rooster tonight), Coyote offered Bob a beer, perhaps as an apology on behalf of his friend. But what Bob really appreciated was the pilot not questioning him at all when he declined the offered beer and stuck to his water instead. It was amazing how many people took it as a personal offense that he didn’t drink. It simply wasn’t his thing, and it was really weird having to defend that choice to grown adults. But Coyote just nodded and moved on.
Rooster was someone who Bob had met before, and he went to say a quick hello. He liked the pilot. Rooster was always friendly and took everyone into account, a trait which Bob appreciated in people, and apparently, Phoenix knew him well, which seemed like a good sign too.
And when Rooster moved to sit behind the piano and Phoenix motioned for them to follow, Fanboy actually grabbed his hand and pulled Bob with him, as if making sure they still didn’t have to be separated even for a little bit.
Bob blushed again but followed the excited aviators to see what was up.
Great balls of fire was what was up.
It was the most fun Bob had had in a good while. He was already starting to feel like he belonged, like he was making friends, and he had such a good time he forgot to feel super self-conscious and instead found himself relaxing for once.
And he let himself enjoy the feel of Fanboy’s hand brushing his. Several times. For the rest of the night.
He tried not to overthink it.
Come next morning, Bob wasn’t quite sure he was successful at that last part.
-
Stepping out to the cool(er) night air outside The Hard Deck, Fanboy immediately shot his girlfriend a text:
Babe, I met someone tonight I think I want you to meet. I think you’d like Bob.

A Not So Cold Christmas Night
(Saiki k x Reader)
School was out for winter. While others had plans for vacation with family and friends. Here I am, sitting alone on Christmas day. Mom and Dad were overseas for work. Lucky me, they sent me money to buy myself a gift.
“Usually stores are closed for the holiday, but I think I could go get something for dinner.” I’m not in the mood for anything extravagant. Maybe a nice dessert. “Why not.” Grabbing my keys, I left out the door. The cold air nipped at me as my jacket did its best to keep me warm. The cold reminded me of the days where my family would sit around the tree. Not many presents were under the tree but that was fine with me.
The cold disappeared to warmth as the doors opened to the store. The clerk waved from an empty line. Some were frantic, searching for last minute dinners to serve their families. I made my way down some halls searching for snacks and sweet desserts.
“(L/n)? What are you doing here?” The voice belonged to Mrs. Saiki. I babysat their neighbor's son from time to time. Sometimes Mrs. Saiki would invite me over when I babysat so she could help me out. I was in the same class as her son Kusuo. He’s a rather quiet guy. We worked in a group once before. The both of us got along, I gave him his space. His friends surrounded him like a swarm of bees during class. Honestly I felt jealous of him.
“Mrs. Saiki, it’s a surprise to see you here. Shouldn’t you be at home with your family?” She nodded.
“We ran out of some seasonings so I came here to pick up some more. Now why are you here? Why aren't you at home with your parents?” The floor seemed really interesting now.
“My parents are overseas for work. I’m looking for snacks and such.” The look she gave me told me how pitiful I must have looked. Placing her hand on my shoulder, she brought me in for a hug. Tears stung my eyes as I held them back. No way I’ll cry in front of another. Soon enough she let go with a smile on her face.
“Hon you should join us for Christmas at our place.” Shaking my head I declined the offer.
“I couldn’t intrude on your Christmas dinner.” She insisted I join them. Claiming I shouldn’t be alone on a night ment for family and fun. “If it’s ok with you, then I cannot decline.” Her smile reminded me of a time, where my mother would watch as I style our tree with tinsel and lights. Before we left I grabbed some snacks then we made our way back to her house. I could see the light of a Christmas tree reflecting off the windows. As we approached the front door it opened for us. Saiki was standing there.
“Kusuo help (l/n) here with the bags, she’ll be joining us tonight.” Without a word he grabbed some bags and led us into the house. It was quiet yet lively. Their tree sparkled with the multicolored lights. Setting down the food in the kitchen I offered to help with dinner. Mrs. Saiki declined, then walked to the refrigerator. She pulled out two platters of coffee jelly. I never had it before but I’ve seen the dessert on shelves. “Give one to Kusuo and enjoy the other. Sit down and relax.” I did as told and found Saiki sitting at the table.
“Here, your mom sent me to give you one.” He took the platter from me and let me sit down.
“I have something for you, stay here.” His lips didn’t move as he talked, but that was no surprise to me. I knew of his powers.
One day when Mrs. Saiki invited me over. A bug flew in the kitchen. No one knew until Yuuta found it. He brought it into the living room where Saiki and I were. Shouting about the bug he found, I expected to find a ladybug in his hand. NOPE. It was a huge ass cockroach! About as soon as both Saiki and I realized what he had, the bug flew towards us in a flash. I wasn’t sure how it happened at the time but the bug was captured in a plastic container.
Shocked, I looked at the floating container and then Saiki. Yuuta was told to go wash his hands, while he did that's when I was informed.
I watched as Saiki came back down the stairs with something in his hand.
“Here, I noticed you were running low.”
It was a fresh sketchbook with brand new erasers and pencils.
“It’s nothing crazy but I figured I’d get it for you.” I smiled at him.
“No, it’s perfect. Thank you Saiki, I appreciate it. I’ll have to get you something in return.”
“No need, I may like to be left alone. I don’t mind you being around, you're a good friend to have.” I got to see a rare smile. “Also, just call me Kusou.”
“Alright then.”

New neighbors Au - Wordgirl x Welcome home chapter 4
The group found themselves following the bird. Poppy was her name. She was very nice, she allowed them to rest at her place for a while. She lived in a refurbished red barn. Which made sense since she was a chicken and all.
Another thing they noticed about Poppy was that she was very motherly. Reminded them a bit like their mom in some ways.
Inside was cozy, like a home should be. Her front door led them directly into her living room. Soft cream colored Wallpaper adorned the walls as well as a few pictures. In a corner a small bookshelf stood, holding a couple of cookbooks and magazines. And in the middle A coffee table and couch sat.A light fragrance of something sweet was in the air.
The kids stared in awe.
"Please make yourselves comfortable." She said, gesturing to them to sit down on her couch. "I would have prepared more food if I knew I would be having guests over." She paused halfway to her kitchen. "You guys don't mind cheesecake?" Becky and Chase glanced at each other … .Well they couldn't remember the last time they ate.
"No.. cheesecake is fine" Chase said. He wasn't very fond of it considering what his father had been through. But he didn't want to be rude.
"Cheesecake!?" Blu and Squeaky said. Poppy gave them a soft smile. "I'll be right back with it." She says.
The hen came back with not only the cheesecake, but with some tea cups and a teapot. She cut each of them a slice of cake. She pours each of them a cup of tea and hands it to them. "I hope you five don't mind Mint tea."
"Not at all." Bob says, taking a sip.
"Squeaky wants more cheese!"
"Why don't you finish eating first?" Poppy said. She frowned seeing the mouse glare at her.
"Sorry about him" Becky said, sending a small death glare at Squeaky. Poppy brushed it off. "You guys are probably tired from traveling" she said, placing down her tea cup. She then paused, realizing she hadn't spotted the kids' parents with them. "Where are your parents by the way?"
"We're not actually sure."
Poppy thought for a moment. "Well if you guys are moving in, your parents are probably around here somewhere."
"They're…here?" Bob said, nearly spitting out his tea. Poppy nodded, not noticing their shocked faces. "Yes. There's a house around here that just got sold. I'm pretty sure you're moving in there."
Chase, Becky and Bob shared glances. This was strange. They didn't even know they were moving….this felt all very sudden…and a bit off. "Wouldn't mom and Dad tell us?" Becky asks. Chase nodded, agreeing. "Still doesn't explain how we're puppets now .." their voices were low talking to each other.
"I love it here!" Blu says, munching on another slice of cheesecake. "I hope we stay forever and ever!" she giggles. Bob gave a concerned look. "Erm…I don't think we could realistically…" he mutters. "Squeaky doesn't care as long as squeaky gets cheese" the mouse huffs. Bob, and the two older Boxleitner kids rolled their eyes…because of course.
After their snack, Poppy was ready to grab a few things from the store. "I can take you to your new home since it's not far from where I was headed." She explained. "I forgot to ask Howdy to deliver groceries today." Ah so that's where she was going before she had found them. They didn't know who Howdy was but figured it wouldn't hurt to meet the people…er puppets of this town.
"Who's howdy?" Blu asks. She was still under the impression it was all a dream. But if it was really happening she didn't mind one bit. This place was perfect and colorful.
"Well, Howdy is a friend and neighbor of mine." Poppy begins explaining a bit.
With not much to do except follow after, the other four walked along the dirt path. Becky and Chase looked around. Anxious and hopeful that when they saw their parents they could figure out what the haystack was going on.

Chapter 36. Good Talk
Steve knew that look on his mother’s face. It was time for the long overdue conversation about everything that had been going on in Hawkins. The house was finally devoid of people except for Eddie and Wayne, even Robin having gone home, and Steve wasn’t sure if Wayne and his mom had conspired, but he had spotted Wayne and Eddie sitting in the backyard looking like they were having a serious conversation.
“You want to talk,” he said.
“If that’s alright with you,” his mom replied. “I would like to understand all this from your point of view before I even attempt to explain it to your father. I still cannot believe they would not let you tell us.”
“National security I guess,” he said. “Grab a chair, this might take a while.”
His mother came over and sat down at the kitchen table next to him. He’d originally been looking for Eddie but had rerouted to having a coffee and a snack when he’d spotted his boyfriend was with his uncle.
“What do you want to know?” he asked, taking a sip of his drink to cover the nervousness that was fizzing through his stomach.
His mom frowned for a moment and then sighed quietly.
“Everything?” she asked. “How did you become involved in all this?”
Steve took a deep breath.
“Well, I found out what was going on when I went over to the Byers house to apologise,” he replied, “but it really all began for me when I invited Nancy over for a small party with Tommy and Carol when you and Dad were out of town, and she brought her friend Barb.”
“The girl killed by the chemical spill?” his mom asked.
He nodded.
“Only not a chemical spill, a Demogorgon, and she was taken from our pool,” he replied. “It took her into the Upside Down and killed her.” He paused, not sure he wanted to say what was in his head. “It’s possible it was really here for me,” he eventually admitted.
His mom put her hand to her mouth.
“Why?” she asked.
“Because of what I can do,” he replied. “We have a theory that Will was taken because of his latent abilities, so he was useful to Vecna who was controlling the hive mind. It’s possible he sent the monster for me too, but it found Barb instead.”
“Oh, darling,” his mom said, reaching out to place a hand over his on the table. “You do know it’s not your fault though?”
He gave a small sad smile at that.
“So I have been told by both Robin and Eddie,” he replied.
“Well, they are both right,” his mom told him firmly.
He nodded, because it was easier than going into the guilt he still felt. No matter what logic said he was probably always going to feel it because, whichever way he looked at it, Barb had been there because of him.
“Jonathan and Nancy worked out what had happened,” he went on, glossing over the how, “and they were trying to find Will. I went to the Byers and a Demogorgon invaded and I helped out with Jonathan’s nail studded baseball bat. After that there was no going back.”
He continued to explain everything he remembered and everything he had learned from the others as his mom put in the odd question, and he did start to feel strangely lighter for being able to tell everything from his point of view. His mom had held his hand hard when he explained about Billy Hargrove and the plate, but she didn’t stop him as he kept talking. Then they got to the part about Starcourt.
“So, you ended up in a Russian base beneath the new mall?” his mom asked, tone rather higher than her usual speaking voice.
He nodded.
“How did you get out again?” his mom said.
“Well, we found where the Russians actually were, and I managed to take out the Russian soldier with a phone. First fight with a human I have ever won. But then he got away from us,” he explained. “So, we ran and Robin and I held a door for as long as we could against a hoard of Russian soldiers so Dustin and Erica could get away.”
“You were caught?” his mom asked, her expression full of horror.
“Yeah,” he admitted. “But Dustin came back and got us out, and we got back up to the mall.”
His mother gave him a look.
“Steven,” she said, “I have known your tells since you were a toddler. What did you just miss out?”
He looked down at his fingers, picking as his nail as he took a few settling breaths. His hands were shaking ever so slightly, but he couldn’t stop it.
“They thought we were spies,” he said quietly. “They wanted to know who we worked for. I couldn’t let them hurt Robin, so I made sure they concentrated on me. I told them the truth, but they didn’t believe me.”
“Steve,” his mom said very gently, taking one of his shaking hands again, “are you telling me you were tortured? I remember the state you were in after the fire, you said something fell on you.”
“I wouldn’t call it torture exactly,” he said, trying to downplay it for her sake. “They hit me.”
“Darling,” his mom said as he looked up at her through his eyelashes. “They were demanding answers and hitting you. That is the definition of torture.”
She reached out, pulling him in and holding him close.
“How did I not see?” she asked herself as Steve did his very best to hold it together.
“I didn’t let you,” he said quietly.
“But Dustin came back and got you out?” his mom asked eventually, letting him sit back in his chair.
He bit his lip.
“Oh my god,” his mom said.
“Dustin did come back, but not until after the Russians dosed me and Robin with some kind of truth serum,” he admitted and settled in for the next part of the arduous conversation.
He didn’t try and miss anything out after that. He explained about the Mind Flayer, Billy Hargrove, what they had found out happened to Hopper, the Byers leaving, the disaster that was spring break, and the final battle they had eventually won.
“When I woke up, I had no idea I had powers,” he admitted. “I healed Robin without even realising and then El called Will and I for help, she was stuck in the Void, and I still thought it was all her. Then I thought I was dreaming once I got home, because I kept seeing Eddie when I went to sleep. But then he was whole and real, and in the pool, and it became kind of obvious something was going on with me.”
“Darling,” his mom said from where she had moved her chair about as close to him as she could get, “I think, perhaps, you have a knack for self-delusion.”
He managed to smile at that.
“Yeah,” he agreed. “Will already had it all figured out. It’s just, I’ve never been part of that side of it before. I’m the muscle. I try to make sure the kids don’t get themselves killed. I couldn’t believe I was anything more.”
“Oh, Steve,” his mom said, “you’ve always been more than just the muscle. I’ve seen how those kids look at you, Darling. You might not think you’re special, but they sure as hell do.”
“Mom, if we had a yearbook, under my picture it would say ‘least likely to have psychic powers’,” he countered.
“It’s not these new powers that make you special,” his mom said simply. “They are extraordinary, but I’ve always known that about you. They just add to a young man I could not have been prouder of anyway. And we’ll probably have to tie your father down when we explain all this to him to stop him doing something silly like trying to tell the whole world how proud he is of you. I know you two have had a bit of a rough patch over the last couple of years, but he has never stopped loving you.”
Steve blinked back the tears prickling at the back of his eyes.
“Oh crap,” he said, swiping at his cheek as he completely failed, and one rolled free.
He had promised himself he would not cry. However, apparently his emotions had not gotten the message. His mom didn’t comment and simply enfolded him in her arms again. He was taller and a lot broader than his mother these days, but as she held him, he felt like a little boy again. A part of his psyche that had been broken for a long time felt like it started to heal.
~*~
“You look kind of shellshocked.”
Eddie’s voice broke him out of his thoughts, and Steve looked up to see his boyfriend standing in his bedroom doorway. The way Eddie was standing, slightly unsure and fidgety said a lot as well.
“You too,” he observed and patted the bed next to where he was sitting.
After talking with his mom, he’d wanted some time alone to process everything. Talking about it had stirred up a lot of feelings he had thought he’d put away. He was pretty sure most of Eddie’s trauma was too new to have been packed into the back of his mind, but it was clear they were in similar boats.
“Wayne wanted to know everything,” Eddie said quietly, sitting down with something of an exhausted slump.
“Yeah, so did my mom,” Steve agreed. “Do you think they conspired?”
“Given with how scarily they seem to be getting on, probably,” Eddie replied.
“They’re trauma bonded too now,” he commented. “I mean it wasn’t Upside Down levels of fruit loop shit, but it was enough. I don’t think this town is ready for the team up that is my mom and your uncle, but they’re gonna be stuck with it.”
“Heads will literally explode and no doubt they will blame Wayne or me,” Eddie replied, leaning into him.
“Before or after my dad threatens to shoot them?” Steve said, without really meaning to.
Eddie pulled away a little and gave him a look for that.
“My mom is the level-headed member of the family and now that she is friends with Wayne, my dad will be too, and when mom tells him everything, he’s gonna get protective,” he explained. “You know how I sometimes get a little over excited?”
Eddie hadn’t been there for most of his episodes of almost losing it because of lot of that had been to do with the Upside Down, but he’d done it a couple of times at school, so he suspected Eddie might have seen those.
“Like the time the basketball team wrecked the drama room by having an impromptu party and you, a junior at the time, went ballistic on their asses?” Eddie checked, leaning back in.
“Yep,” Steve said with a nod. “Well, I get that from my dad. My mom goes cold and logical when she’s angry, my dad, not so much. There were a couple of months after I graduated where we mostly yelled at each other if we communicated at all. Mom did her best, but we’re both stubborn.”
“Well, I was impressed with your explosion that time, even though at the time I never would have admitted it,” Eddie said. "That room was spotless after they cleaned up their mess. Someone even glued the arm back on the throne, and I have it on good authority, that was dodgy for years. I thought your mom said your dad was a bad shot?”
“He is,” he replied, “but that won’t stop him from threatening, even if he doesn’t have a gun. When I was in elementary school there was this kid who tried to bully everyone and I stood up to him, gave him a black eye. His dad cornered me one day outside the school and made me cry. My mom had to hide the keys to the lock box with the rifle. I don’t actually know what happened in the end, but my dad had bruised knuckles for a while.”
Eddie was silent for some time.
“Stevie,” Eddie said eventually, “your parents are terrifying, and my dad’s in prison, so that’s saying something.”
“Yeah well, Wayne is pretty terrifying too,” he replied. “I am almost as glad I am not on his shit list as I am about not being on Joyce’s.”
“Wayne’s a pussycat,” Eddie said.
“Wayne’s your family,” Steve countered. “You didn’t see the looks he was giving me when we went to tell him about you.”
“And he is a good shot,” Eddie finally agreed. “Always been more of a dad to me than my real one. I still stand by my ‘your parents are terrifying’ though.”
Steve shrugged.
“I keep wondering what would have happened if I’d been allowed to tell them about the Upside Down mess right in the beginning,” he confessed. “My mom mentioned therapy after our talk today. Not sure how I feel about it.”
“Sorry, not my area. I met a therapist once with the single aim of making sure my dad didn’t do worse than neglect me,” Eddie said. “Could you even talk to a therapist?”
“Apparently Owens gave my mom some names of therapists with security clearance when she asked,” he revealed, “but I’m still not sure I could trust them.”
“Yeah, especially with your new powers,” Eddie agreed.
“We’ve always helped each other,” he said. “The walkies are there for more than code reds.”
“Group therapy then,” Eddie said.
“Us against the world,” Steve agreed.
“Christ, I wish we had some weed right now,” Eddie decided after a few moments silence. “If any situation called for mellowing out, this is it.”
“Wonder if weed would have any effect on my healing,” Steve mused, because it was better than thinking about the darker thoughts running through the back of his brain. “Come to think of it, wonder if I can get high anymore. I removed the painkillers from Max’s system before I healed her injuries and I seem to heal myself mostly instinctively.”
“That is … well … useful I suppose,” Eddie said, “but every man should be allowed to get high once in a while. It’s good for the soul.”
“Actually, haven’t since Starcourt,” Steve said quietly. “Kind of afraid I might flashback to Russian thugs and truth serum. Haven’t drunk more than a couple of beers either. Thought about it several times, but never done it.”
“Sweetheart,” Eddie said, wrapping an arm around him and pulling him close, “how the hell are you such a well-adjusted human being?”
He managed a small smile at that.
“It’s all a façade,” he replied. “I actually have an evil lab in the basement and am planning to take over the world to deal with my Daddy issues.”
Eddie’s mouth opened in mock shock.
“Was that a comic book reference? Oh my god, Steve ‘The Hair’ Harrington just made a comic book reference,” Eddie teased with a gasp. “Be still my beating heart. Are you a secret nerd?”
Steve gave a loud gasp, because he could be just as dramatic when he wanted to be.
“Take that back,” he demanded as if it was the worst insult on the planet.
“Oh, good sir, no offence was meant,” Eddie replied, dropping into a terribly exaggerated Southern accent. “Please forgive the impertinence.”
For good measure Eddie took his hand, kissing the back of it. Steve’s heart swelled. It was silly, but it was so damn adorable, and Eddie would probably kill him if he said that out loud. The talk he had had with Robin all about falling in love, what seemed like an age ago now, popped into his head. There was no denying it anymore, he had it bad. He was very much in love with Eddie Munson.
