it's kind of weird to me that they didn't bother releasing sushi and tempura internationally at all but at the same time i'm kinda glad they didn't cuz like. yo-kai watch was financially failing in the west by the time 3 released. i feel like if they had released sushi and tempura the franchise would've completely tanked before we got sukiyaki which would've sucked. honestly if anything i feel like it's more surprising that we got all three versions of 2 instead of them just releasing psychic specters but tbf i think yo-kai watch was doing well in the west when 2 released. 2 is just inexplicably what killed the franchise despite being a masterpiece-

As a bit of a Retro Throwback Shooter Shitter myself, I have some Thoughts. Read on if you're interested.

So, first of all I like the premise of exploring the time the Doom Slayer spent fighting demons alongside the warriors of Argent D'Nur. It's a time period that was purposefully left pretty damn vague in Doom Eternal, and the Slayer's lore before waking up again wasn't even really talked about much - if at all - in Doom 2016 from what I remember, since they were trying to play it a little safe due to Doom 2016 being a soft reboot of a series that hadn't gotten a new game in 12 years at that point, with the last title (Doom 3 and its various editions that attempted to improve it a bit) being a pretty big departure that had a wealth of issues, such as it being a Doom game with one of the worst shotguns ever put into a shooter. So it's a cool idea to explore this time frame of the Doom Slayer's history, and possibly show the events leading to the Slayer's imprisonment in Hell before he was rediscovered and subsequently awoken by Samuel Hayden in Doom 2016, including the Makyrs' fall from grace.

Second, I'm actually kinda hyped to see id Software still working on making retro throwback shooters. I was worried they'd get shuttered and their IP sold off after Rage was such a flop back in 2011, and they didn't make anything after it for 5 years until Doom 2016 came out, so it's nice to see they've found their groove again - making some of the best examples of the retro throwback shooter subgenre. Doom 2016 started the BoomShoot Renaissance, and Doom Eternal is still one of the best examples of the genre, mechanically. They are masterclasses in using an old formula while keeping the level design and visuals fresh with modern game design principles that have improved a lot since the 90s, along with new game mechanics to keep the moment-to-moment gameplay feeling fresh as well (such as the weapon / stat upgrade systems, the movement abilities you get in Doom Eternal, etc.). Seeing them pushing that even further is a treat to behold, and I'm confident it's going to be a pretty damn fun game, as long as it doesn't get forced into being $70.

Final point, though, is a bit of a downer for me personally. Why in the fuck are they making a game in the Doom series that's going for a more medieval-ish feel, when the Quake franchise is right fucking there and begging for a better modern entry than goddamn Quake Champions?? Seriously, making a Quake game calling back to the first game in the franchise - with the Lovecraftian inspirations, the more medieval-ish setting, the unique monsters like the Shambler you didn't see much of past Quake 1 - would be a fucking money printer. But no, Microsoft wants them to play it safe so they can get a guaranteed blockbuster because Quake Champions hasn't done very well since it came out of early access in 2022, which is definitely a fault of the Quake franchise not having any consumer interest and 100% for sure not because Quake Champions pivoted into being a fucking hero shooter trying to emulate the feel of old arena shooter deathmatching!! It's not like a soft reboot wouldn't be sorely needed after the goddamn disaster of a story that was the Quake 4 campaign! It's not like a modern Quake game that actually relies on having a fun weapon sandbox instead of relying on taking your opponents off guard with fucking superpowers on cooldowns is something the fanbase they're trying to pander to would nut in our fucking pants over or anything!!!!

TL;DR: This game looks really good and fun, and I like to see id is still making banger games, but I'm actually kinda angry that they'd rather make a Doom game with medieval vibes rather than using that other fantastic retro shooter IP they own to make something that kind of vibe would actually fit into better.

havent decided on colors completely yet and these arent technically final either i just needed to force the idea out of my brain BUT i imagine the outfits are mostly black/gray and silver with some accents of each member's color. the jackets are like vinyl?? textured on the torso part but the sleeves and hood are more like a windbreaker. i think. im not a fashion designer yet

i want the stage to be like dark and blacklit, and the paint glows, and their outfits are reflective in places. the stage decoration looks like an alley in one of those “neon tokyo at night” images. and their eyes glow because thats sick as hell

i have like no story ideas for this i just thought i was cool and i want the amagis to hang out thank you verymuch. i think rinne does like spraypaint street art stuff in craftmonster and theres no way to prove me wrong because they dont have their own story yet L

im kind of tempted to give them like. cool respirator masks. maybe they can be off and worn around the neck during the song but some of them wear it in the card art. actually im definitely doing that

I sometimes feel really alone. My interests are on the more obscure side (to the point that I don't think I've seen anyone online talk about a some of them in years...), and although a couple of my friends have adjacent interests, it's just not the same. It's akin to us liking movies in the same genre but not the same movies besides a couple, I'd say, except I've watched most of the movies they've watched but they haven't done the same with what I have, and that's why. They tend to focus on a couple at a time while I go for everything at once. And because of that, it's just...I feel like the most annoying person ever when I bring things from other "movies" up because I know they're not interested in them. Anything they share is from a movie that I've also watched and had interest in, but a lot of what I think about isn't something they have, so I know they won't feel any connection to it, hence feeling annoying. I know I probably should just talk about it and hope that they'll end up being interested, but at the same time, I also don't want to. Part of it is that the things they aren't interested in feel like a bit of a safe haven to me. It's not that they annoy me, nothing like that. I love them; they're my friends. But they tend to have a lot more to say than me, and even though I often know things about the content that they don't, almost every time I've told them of something I found interested turned out to be a mistake. They sometimes gain misconceptions, and when I say something that contradicts them, a lot of em take it harder than they should since they write fanfics and it means details were wrong. I feel awful every time. So even mutual interests leave me a bit unable to properly talk about them, although I guess it's better than nothing.

I miss when I was at least interested in things that had fanfiction written about them. At least that was some comfort that others cared just as me.

I do have this pal who is a genuine lifesaver though. They don't even have an interest in anything adjacent, but they've asked me questions and encouraged me to talk about them. I don't think anyone else ever has. (It just sucks that I'm hesitant to talk unless they prompt me with a question about what I've been thinking of. I don't want to overwhelm them and make them stop. We also don't talk as much as I do with some others, so...)
