jeepers, sending this ask on the eve of the 4.2 stream and trailer ! do you have any thoughts on how genshin will approach tying up childe's storyline in the fontaine quest next update? if smfwtwd manages to predict something again, apollo's dodgeball of prophecy has a 2 for 2 streak lol

You don't want to know how long this response took pfft. I uh, had too many thoughts. Also, don't take this as spoilers for my fic, this is mostly stuff based on the Fontaine stuff. (also there is no leak stuff here because I haven't looked at any in relation to this haha, and uh, pls don't tell me any story leaks everyone)

But yes, now that's out of the way! So since 4.0 I've been convinced Childe's whale/the thing that Skirk saw in him is some manifestation (or something) of the primordial sea (will be refereed to as PS from now on). Or maybe an abyssal taint within it. Not sure on the specifics, but the reason Childe was deemed 'guilty' was because the PS was the source of the disappearances, and well he is part of that sea.

Going to talk about Furina for a hot minute (it's relevant), and uh spoilers for my Furina fic so beware. I still stand by my theory from that fic that Furina is also connected to the PS and in fact in some manner the cause of the prophecy/PS being fucked up/is the reason everyone in Fontaine will be dissolved. A bunch of canon evidence about Remuria implies that Remus fucking around with PS is the cause of the current dissolve the fake french waters and I believe Furina is a product of those experiments, a literal false god made by a mad king.

And to throw a bit of a crazy theory out there, I think she specifically is the reason the big old abyss rift opened up in the middle of Remuria back then, and as we know from Skirk/the whale showing up in the present day, history is repeating itself as the Abyss is back here again.

And Furina knows that (or sometimes knows that, I'm in the boat that her mind is fractured, and she only sometimes is aware of certain things) and that's why she took Neuvillette under her wing. Because to her, he is the only one who can judge her and carry out the punishment. Basically, I think Neuvi is effectively her method of suicide, a punishment for her sins against Remuria and now Fontaine.

Okay, so the whale (and Skirk). To get this out of the way, I can see Skirk literally being the whale, or I can see her being someone keeping an eye on the whale for a variety of reasons. I'll be honest I'm not sure what is up with her (I still want to say she is Khaenri'ahn, but tbh I've just believed that for so long I'm a bit biased on that front lol). I'm thinking the latter is more likely, but honestly it can go either way.

But back to the whale, as I mentioned up top, it's very likely a manifestation of some kind of the PS. My speculation is that it's Furina's Abyssal counterpart. Whether it's literally Furina or parallel creature to her, idk (Furina's gameplay literally has her controlling little sea creatures...). But I would lean on the latter, I think the whale is like the 'natural' manifestation of it, while Furina is the man made one. Furina exists in the human world, while the whale is in the Abyss (Furina has a lot of duology in her design, her eyes, the flip-flopping of her personality, her gameplay modes, her con is half greek half latin, etc).

And finally I'm returning to Ajax, he is a child of two worlds. He crossed the borders between the human world and the Abyss and came out changed (but unlike many, he was able to leave with his mind mostly intact) He is named after a Greek hero (which side note, Enkanomiya, aka lots of Greek stuff, is where the prophecy about the Dragon of Water being reborn is from) and currently going to be facing a Roman goddess.

He, much like Furina is a nest of contradictions. His title Tartaglia, the old stutterer, doesn't suit him at all. His disconnect from the rest of the Harbingers (He is arguably the most sane of the bunch yet is a nexus of chaos), his obsession with childhood innocence despite his path covered in blood. He is human, yet can turn into a big old monster.

And while this is more generally a Harbinger trait, he much like Furina is a big old performer (The Harbingers are named after a French/Italian form of theater, and Furina is Roman goddess who rules a sort of French nation). And with that a massive liar to those closest to him (for Ajax it's his younger siblings and for Furina its Neuvillette). Not to get literary on us, but the two of them are foils to each other. The lying Celestial goddess and the child who fell into the Abyss.

He walks the line between the human world and Abyss (and is a representative of the divine via the Tsaritsa), and I think he's going to be the bridge between Furina and the Whale, and the means of which both will be saved from the corruption that has been eating them alive for thousands of years.

While I'm not sure what exactly will go down, we've been a bit spoiled by Furina's gameplay, which shows that she has gained control of the 2 sides of her. I believe the Furina that we've met so far is only part of a whole (possibly the other half is the Oratrice or maybe the Abyss as a big whale, maybe both maybe neither lol), and her story will be reuniting those pieces. And she'll be able to do that by seeing Ajax and his own contradictory pieces that are still a whole despite the disconnect. And maybe on Ajax's part, he too can learn to make peace with the contradictions within him, and he'll be able to turn into Foul Legacy without hurting himself (and maybe that Legacy will stop being so foul).

Um that was very rambly and got very esoteric near the end and probably didn't make a lot of sense. I'm likely super wrong, but it's fun to wildly speculate sometimes haha. Thank u for giving me the excuse, though I don't know if this is what u wanted when u asked me this pffft.

**Curse of Strahd spoilers**

Absolutely tearing my hair out trying to rationalize the attacks on Ireena’s home and the feast of St. Andral. I’ve been working on getting to know CoS and tweaking it to my liking for over a year now. I’ve got most things settled, but for the life of me I cannot figure out Strahd blatantly trying to burn down Ireena’s world around her.

If he didn’t care about actually making her love him, just getting her to give up and say “ugh fine” he could just keep grabbing her and taking her back to the castle every time she ran off, or outright imprisoning her there, which is boring.

I **cannot** reconcile a 20 int supposed strategic mastermind who’s had 400 god damn years sitting up in his sad boy tower with nothing to do but watch fucked up adventurer TV and imagine scenarios of how to get his waifu to notice him wouldn’t have figured out by now that that fear=/=love. It just does not make sense and I do not have interest in playing a character with that gaping of a logic/plot hole front and center! I can’t do it!

But. Then I moved on and when I came back to St. Andral’s I found myself going down the same logic path again. But by that point Strahd just looks like a sorry excuse for an omnipotent dark lord, and even if I did try to rationalize it as him turning a blind eye and reaping the benefits of Ireena having no safe zones, he’d either successfully convince everyone he truly did have no idea as a master manipulator would, resulting in the players feeling more “cmon man get it together” rather than the smorgasbord of mortal dread horror and terror that they deserve, or he’d make it obvious he did know and defeat the point of not having him be the one wreaking unholy havoc varg vikernes style in the first place.

I’m not under the impression that these are the only opportunities available for him to go ape shit and strike appropriate amounts of fear into the hearts of sensible PCs, but defanging him and removing his direct connections to these events seem just as bad for the narrative and gameplay as doing the opposite.

If you do have advice that keeps with a more phantom of the opera toxic but fun and hot and goth about it very unrealistically rather than a Too Real “I’ll leak your nudes then you’ll get back with me right that’s how this works” pathetic ex vibe, I would happily accept, but right right now I’m mainly just screeching into the void.

Something about Ace Attorney

I love Ace Attorney. But to be honest, I don’t like where the main series is heading.

Plot-wise:

Case in point: Spirit of Justice. We’ve got three main characters (Phoenix, Apollo, Athena) all crammed in together in one game that attempts to juggle their storylines (in Athena’s case, it’s nonexistent here, in Apollo’s case, the backstory feels shoehorned) and eventually fails at what it set out to do ( (example being Athena’s case in Spirit of Justice which was not only completely irrelevant to the main plot but also very short)).

The way I see it Capcom should either split the games between the characters (dual versions like in Pokémon, maybe with loosely related plots), or cut out some of the already matured characters (like Phoenix and Maya). For Phoenix, his story ended with Trials and Tribulations, but they just had to turn him into a hobo for Apollo Justice (which ironically focused more on Phoenix rather than Apollo, not that the hobo gig sold much in Japan).

Gameplay-wise:

Gameplay-wise, I feel like Ace Attorney is stuck in its past. I mean, sure, each main character’s got their own ‘special ability’ (Maya’s Phoenix’s Magatama, Apollo’s Bracelet, Athena’s Mood Matrix), and Spirit of Justice had the Divination Séance thing going on, but I still think that they’re a bit hesitant from changing up the core gameplay like cross-examinations and investigations and stuff.

For the investigation part, The Great Ace Attorney introduced the Joint Reasoning feature, where you nitpick Sherlock Holmes’ (mostly irrational) conclusions and try to find out what really happened. I really liked this feature, and I feel like it added more content to the otherwise tedious point-and-click parts of the investigation segments, but also gave us an insight into how this version of Sherlock Holmes’ comes to his conclusions, therefore building upon an already astounding character through gameplay.

For the trials, we’ve already seen things changed up in PL vs AA’s witch trials, where you can cross-examine multiple witnesses at the same time. You have to keep an eye on the other witnesses and wait for their reactions to the testimony you’re currently reading. This makes the cross-examination session flow much more smoothly, and is a good way to introduce plot twists.

The Great Ace Attorney’s jury system? Easily one of the best additions to the court segments so far, in my opinion. You’ve got a judge and six jurors, the latter of which you need to convince to get your not-guilty verdict. If all jurors vote guilty, you have a chance to overturn their verdicts by conducting a ‘jury examination’, where instead of examining the witnesses, you’re examining the jurors themselves, trying to find contradictions among their statements, and help them realize the faults in their collective reasoning. If most of the jurors change their vote, you win and the trial continues as usual.

I feel like the jury system is an extension of the witch trials (it probably is, since DGS began development straight after PL vs AA), but with more stakes: the final verdict of the court depends on this examination. The jurors are switched up between cases (although some of them come back), but you get a feel for their personalities through this neat new feature.

I can understand why the developers might hesitate to bring these changes to the main series, since both PL vs AA and DGS1&2 sold poorly. It’s a shame since both of these games brought new ideas to the table, only for poor sales driving them back into the tried-and-true formula of the main series.

Any game in the series is better than no game at all, and the recent leaks are making me hopeful that DGS isn’t completely dead, and that AA7 is on the way. I just hope they try and spice things up for the new game, and maybe build off of the ideas the spinoffs introduced.

“So, Brody,” Mason asks, stepping closer to the table. One of the other trainers had to insert the iv. Needles were just not his thing, but he could handle this part. “I heard that you were touching things that you shouldn’t. Video games, I nearly can’t believe it. You know those aren’t for you. They’re expensive. You could break them.”

Brody whined, fingers twitching like he wanted to pull at the restraints but was resisting. He couldn’t remember a time where there was something in his arm like this. He had seen it on tv, but he had never felt it.

“Video games are for people, Brody. Are you a person?”

“No, Trainer,” Brody said immediately, barely waiting for him to finish the last word.

Mason grinned sickly, and Brody closed his eyes to keep from seeing it.

“What did you like about them? It couldn’t have been the stories or the gameplay. No, you wouldn’t have been able to understand that. So what then? What was it that made you do something that you knew you weren’t supposed to do?”

Mason snorted as a thought came to him. “Was it the buttons? Did you just like pressing the buttons?”

Brody was trembling. Had, had that been it? Had he just liked to press the buttons? He could feel his face burn as it flushed red. He was so stupid. So simple. He never should have thought anything else.

Mason laughed at his blush. “Oh god, it was. How cute. Little pet just wanted to press buttons. Well, here’s a button for you.”

Something small and rectangular was pressed into his hand. Brody opened eyes to see a small remote of some sort.

“If you like pressing buttons so much, then do it.”

Brody’s eyes searched his face trying to understand what was going on. But he didn’t need to understand. He just needed to obey.

He pressed it.

Brody jolted as he felt something leaking into his arm where the small tube was attached. Oh, he did not like this. For a moment, the site was cold, and he could feel it under his skin. He stared at his arm, shocked that he could see it. He could feel it so clearly, why couldn’t he see it?

Then it burned.

Brody jolted again with a cry, dropping the remote he had been given. It hurt. It hurt and it was under his skin. In his skin. It burned. It was like there was fire inside his arm that was hurting him. He looked over to Mason frantically, eyes pleading for help.

Mason picked up the remote from the floor and folded it back in Brody’s hand. “Did you like this button?”

Brody shook his head and whined, noticing that the burning was starting to subside, if only just a little. Just barely better. He nearly breathed a sigh of relief. It would go away.

“Press it again.”

Brody whimpered loudly. He very much learned his lesson. No touching people things. No pretending his was a person. No more buttons or video games.

Mason raised and eyebrow and curled Brody’s fingers around the white rectangle. “Brody,” he prompted.

Against his better judgment, Brody shook his head. Mason pulled the other remote from his pocket and hit it.

Brody’s back arched against the bed, wrists pulling painfully as the shock seemed to tense every muscle in his body. He gasped for breath when it finally stopped, but that almost didn’t feel good enough. It felt like he still couldn’t breathe.

“So-o-rry, Sorry, T-trai-n-er,” Brody managed. He knew better than that. He should have known better.

“Press the button, Brody. Either you press that one, or I press this one.”

Brody sobbed, head lulling side to side on the table. He just wanted to go home. He wanted this nightmare to be over. But there was only one way to make it end.

He pressed the button again.

For just a second, he could almost convince himself that it was nice. The cold felt nice on the burn from the previous dose and the tension from the shock. But only for a second. It warmed quickly, until Brody was squirming on the table, desperate to get away.

When the warmth finally ebbed to almost nothing, Mason carded a gloved hand through Brody’s sweaty hair, pushing it out of his eyes.

“Is this fun, Brody? Do you like this game?”

Brody whined and shook his head. Mason smiled.

“Press it again.”

A sob broke through when he hadn’t meant for it to. He had been so stupid. He should have known. They seemed like they were nice, but everything that they had done just made this worse. He had so much that he had to relearn because of them.

If she had just brought him to the shelter.

If they had just never made him hot chocolate.

If the two of them hadn’t given him blankets and clothes and stopped when he asked and all the things he thought were good, none of this would be happening.

He, he hated them. He loved them, but he hated what they had done.

So, I have a very good idea as to what happened. Karen thought they were the one to go with their score, and successfully convinced everyone else to get rid of me. Either to get the gold or to get rid of me, I'm not sure. But I'm on to them. Make no mistake.

Well, to recap past round, Ben ended up winning the gold medal and returning to the game, which I really appreciate, so he'll be immune next tribal he attends, which am sure he is happy with. That led to Nik W being the next person eliminated. Then, as well at the arena, Stoner won the silver medal for his tribe, I won the Bronze medal for my tribe, then Pete won nothing. Today's immunity challenge was a maze, went into the maze thinking I should get a decent time, as I did mazes a bit as a kid, but then my dumb self didn't save the maze properly so had to redo it, then my internet decided to act up so had to refigure out lightshot which cost me more time. So I ended up with a really rough score, thankfully the 40% bonus will help a little, but I just feel bad and embarrassed by the time I got, and feel like if my tribe loses, it's going to be because of me. I can't even be too active tomorrow to discuss vote with people if my tribe loses as I am going back home tomorrow, which just makes matters even worse. So, at the moment, I don't feel too hot, but at the same time, I shouldn't let one bad round set me back either.

first loss as a new tribe, rip. I don’t know how this vote may go because i’ve chatted and bonded with everyone on this tribe, well except kevin and kinda nicole, and no one is really sticking out like an asshole. The new mari-whatever tribe has been just chill vibes which is nice but makes strategy much harder cus like what if they’re all secretly just agreed in getting me out? Who knows. I did talk with Landen and we agreed we wanna work together, he threw out the idea that he may be leaning towards voting out an old Shosha member and he hasn’t talked with Kevin or Nicole at all. I’m talking to Eve, Sammy, and Jacob C as well, maybe we could be a voting block...? We’ll see.

Sarah felt she’s in danger because of Billy trying to get her out last tribal. I can’t have Sarah out because her and I trust each other so then I think of this idea. Nik just got voted out, Billy is targeting Sarah now... what if I spread a rumor that Billy has a plan to pick off all the yujo members and has a hit list and is playing way too hard now? So basically i tell all my allies that eve and I are really scared because someone told us that Billy wants to pick off the yujo people for an easy vote these next few rounds in the hopes that people won’t trust him if he’s playing too hard like that and hopefully the word gets back to the sonkei tribe members.

So we have a problem, Eve and I are sticking together as former yujo so we let each other know what the other person has found out. So anyways I talk with Landen for a little while, I trust him, and he proposes this plan to vote out a former Shosha tribe member which i’m not against. He says he’s talked a little with Sammy and Jacob C too. So I let Eve know and she says interestingly enough she’s been talking to Nicole and Nicole proposed that her, Eve, Kevin, and myself all vote together and Eve says maybe against Landen. Eve also let’s me know that Nicole and Jacob C are very very close. So now Eve and I are split, I want to vote with Landen and get a Shosha tribe member out, she doesn’t wanna go against Nicole and wants to vote Landen out. We’re kinda the swing vote here and I want us to make the right decision.

tribal is getting closer and closer and nobody wants to make a decision! They’re ALL asking ME what to do which i guess is nice but i don’t want them all thinking of me as the decision maker this early. Right now it’s between landen or kevin going so i’m doing what i can to make sure everyone’s fine with writing Kevin’s name down.

Let's make this quick because I am obviously stressed as fuck and I just had the most whack ass dream about this game. In it, half this cast got kicked out of the game for being minors and it was actually a Facebook game, then we appealed it and held a whole trial bc some chick compared us to South African famous wanted murderers and we were offended so we held a trial and won the appeal and all the minors got back in the game but then there was instant tribal council and it was a live tribal and we were all whispering to send home someone named Charlotte who isn't even in this cast I... Yeah. So you can tell THAT'S how paranoid I am about this tribal council, my brain is driving me insane. We going in a million different directions!!! Anyway here's what happened last night. As SOON as I sent in my video confessional saying things are going to be fine, Pete messaged me (hilariously enough, he literally just messaged me with news AGAIN, but we'll get to that later.. it wasn't big enough to change the whole confessional) and said that things had blown up. Essentially what he told me was that Nicole is very close with Eve, but she's also very close with Jacob. Because of this those three kind of took control, and essentially Nicole wants to work with Eve/Pete/Kevin/Jacob. That would leave me and Sammy on the bottom. I knew as soon as I heard that, that Nicole's plan was to vote me out tonight. Jacob loves Sammy, so if they're working together closely, I'm the target, that much is obvious. So basically this entire day would be a race to make sure that we can sway Eve and/or Jacob and make sure the votes are on KEVIN, not on me. Because he doesn't talk to anyone. I gave my best pitch to Eve, but I don't think it worked that much, she doesn't like being in the middle. Nicole/Sammy/Jacob were all like "I'm at work" "i'm driving somewhere" "i'm at a party" lol we love excuses. I'm not buying your fake shit, you just don't want to talk to me. Notice how I said would be though.... Teehee! Well, turns out, I told Juls about all this madness, and my hero, the light of my life, has decided to help me out by giving me a Sit-out-at-tribal advantage! Not 100% sure how it works yet, I REALLY hope I get to make some dramatic play with it at tribal and actually talk about using it... But if not, I'm just glad for the safety. While I'm not 100% sure if it would be me or Kevin going home and if we could sway the votes, I'm not willing to risk my safety at the arena. It's just not going to happen. And I want to see how interesting things get when I return! So when it comes to this tribal, that's honestly my main plan. Sit out with Juls' advantage. Laugh as the fireworks play... Hope to GOD that Kevin, who probably gets sent home, dies in the Arena too. Gotta have faith he can be beat. I'm not amazing at challenges, good, but not confident enough that I'm willing to risk my spot in the Arena now that it's gotten down to all active people who are giving it their 100%. So, Darcy could prove to be a useful asset to bring close to the end. He voted for me last round, and he said he figured that'd reduce trust between us. Honestly, he's absolutely right, I want very little to do with him now, but I'm just "playing nice" until it's time to cut him out.

Billy is going. Kinda hope he comes back so we can win. Even if we don't it's nice to have an easy vote. I think I need to position myself just a little bit better here. Even if i'm not near the bottom, I need to act like it. I need to have chris and jordan's loyalty over emma. And Emma's over theirs. I need to be in the power position, without being viewed that way. Me not going on skype might help that perception. I'm good at these challenges, this one not included, so I should be solid going forward.

This first part of the game for me has been some of the worst gameplay that I've ever displayed. I've received votes every single tribal, I've made no strong connections, the only guy I trusted 100% got his ass voted out, and I'm sitting in the Arena for the second time. It makes you wonder how the fuck I do this shit without breaking down. Well, that's sort of what I did. I broke down after that tribal man, hard. I fkn hate getting emotional man but it felt like complete SHIT being alone and neglected. Truth is, every way I put it, even though I don't wanna admit it, I got no one but myself to blame. What I need in this game is a reset button. When I come back, and I WILL come back from that arena, I need to start a clean slate and get all that chaos the fuck outta there...for now. Fuck I need to win that arena. So bad. When I go back to Sonkei, Imma make sure that I'm the one on top.

So for starters, my tribe won immunity the other day, so we got the tribal break we deserved! Now, waiting on arena, where Juls from my tribe, Landen from Miraitowa, and Jordan from Sonkei are competing for Silver and Bronze, then Pete and Billy are competing for the gold. In which, my ideal scenario is Billy winning the gold and coming back, as I feel like he could be a potential ally I could have come another swap or merge if him and I make it there together. Then I'd want Juls to win the silver, since it'd be helpful for next challenge for yushu, then can potentially win another immunity! Preferably in this scenario, Landen wins the Bronze, just so that one of the other tribes don't end up coming back with two medals. Anyways, this game is fun, and I made final 19, now to see if I can find anything in Olympic Village this next round, as I have still yet to find something.

I'm going to go ahead and try to improve this situation slightly. I think I have the makings of a fantsatic position, it just needs to be perfect. Billy and Emma fighting at tribal while Chris was doing his own thing pretty much sums up everything I needed. I need either Chris or Jordan to be my new #1. Jordan appears to be a paranoid nut, Chris is the opposite. I tend to have greater successes with the paranoid nut, but who knows. They need to like me back, which is easier said than done. If Billy comes back we are likely winning the challenge. We won't of course, cause that's who we are, but who knows. My semester starts up tomorrow, which is going to harm my activity a tad, and I'm already not that active, but we'll see how that influences anything.

I had a good convo with Sarah, really vibe with her. I have my alliance with Jordan, Jacob, and Em which I feel good about they’re just real quiet. Need to talk to them more 1 on 1. I have my duo with Pines that I feel real confident about. I hope that’s not my downfall this game but I think pines and I are gonna do great things.

Well baby dolls, basically eve tried to exclude me from an alliance but I beat that bitch to the punch! And my fearsome foursome played her like a fiddle while she thought I was going home unanimous in all actuality we had the upper hand and dropped the hammer on Pete 4-2, with Landen volunteering for the arena Eve was left to fend for herself for cute little 24 hours and chaos ensued when she realized what happened hopping between calls and chats to damage control for her lack of judgement in including me into things, therefore she feels on the outs and while I was a part of this scheme and to an extent playing a role of the victim who found solace in a group of three who wanted to vote for me, all of which is false, I’m still using these moments to rebuild a bridge I never knew got burned to ashes so she can potentially INCLUDE me in things going forward, after all we’re both out of the loop right? ;)

Tribal was quite spicy. Nobody reacted to Stoner rolling a blunt while em and billy were arguing and my soul left my body from trying not to laugh. Just found out Billy is not coming back, which honestly whew, because I feel like he'd come back with some vengeance. He's probably a good team player normally, but my only impression was..not great! Hopefully we can come together as a tribe now and aim to NOT go to tribal in the first place. Although I still feel like, entering into this new tribe, there are many, many layers. Salty, spicy layers. Like a delicious onion dip.

So let me backtrack to before tribal. You’re probably wondering how I got here! *record scratch* Anyway, so we constructed a tribe to have a 4-3 majority, and in doing that there was always going to come a day where when we lost we would have to choose who was going to go between Pete, Eve and Landen. I feel badly because, they’re newbies and obviously putting a reasonable effort into this game BUT, it’s the name of the game, if the returnees didn’t band together we were going to get picked off and have a hard time like Karen is on their tribe. Anyway, so the day comes and we have to go to tribal. NONE of the newbies talked to me about game before we lost. I need to point that out. As soon as we lost Eve said “what the hell are we gonna do now”....m’am! WE? WHO’S WE? anyway, I played along and was just about to tell her we were going to vote out Pete when she says she was on a tribe with Pete and could make a good number for us. She says I can pull in Jacob...Jacob can pull in Sammy...hold on a minute. Are we leaving out Kevin? WHY DOES EVERYONE HATE KEVIN? This might as well be a Home Alone sequel because they’re leaving Kevin out of EVERYTHING! or at least that’s what I’m being told (more on that later). So I don’t want any weird advantages to get pulled out of anyone’s pocket at tribal and so I obviously go along with it, I say everyone is fine, Jacob will vote with them, we hate Kevin. Basically whatever we need to do. Honestly, I don’t feel bad. You can’t not talk to people for a full two rounds and then decide when you lose you now have a majority. Anyway so, good thing we kept the Pete vote a secret! Because I feel like Eve would have been able to make whoever had the advantage (Juls, I think) use it on Pete and then we would have been REALLY screwed. Anyway, it worked out. We voted for Pete. He left. Eve yelled. The more than curious thing that happened after the vote that makes me second guess my whole alliance is the fact that Beck came out of nowhere and told me that Sammy knew about the advantage because Juls was talking about it on a call (WHICH IS AGAINST THE RULES BC SHES AT THE ARENA BUT I GUESS WE JUST FORGET THAT PART FOR NOW BECAUSE THERES A BIGGER POINT) Anyway, in short I need to focus on keeping more info for myself and not telling my alliance. I’m used to having a ride or die alliance that I can pour info into like I did with Kinky Booties in Seychelles. I knew that info was going to aid in me going forward. Here I’m not so sure. They could literally vote me out next if they want me and push Eve into my spot because she’s a newbie and in that way, less of a threat. But anyway I tell Beck, as I’m telling them, Beck keeps writing to me as if he is being instructed to tell me more info. I don’t know if it was Juls (again, against the f*ing rules, these newbies are..!!!) or if it was someone in the alliance, maybe Jacob or Kevin. I wouldn’t think Sammy but, I don’t know. Anyway I don’t feel safe, and I’ve beat my lowest placement that I’ve ever gotten BUT, that doesn’t mean I want to get out just yet. I don’t feel good about winning this game but I would like to make it onto a jury for once (I’m always at FTC if I get past premerge 🥳) That’s all I got so far, check back in for my MENTAL BREAAAAK after immunity results for next round bc if we lose, I’m gonna cry. I can’t deal with this again, especially since the whole Pete situation has been pawned off on me.

SO we ended up switching the vote within the last few hours to save Karen <3! Karen made a push to save herself by going after one of the OG Blue tribe (Ben) and I was fine with the vote since me and Beck had already been in the works to blindside him in the future and since I think Karen will be more reliable at the moment I was willing to stick my neck out if Juls and Caeleb were down for the plan. With that being said I left it in their hands to make the decision so that it feels like I'm with them and shows them as power players to Beck. As soon as they made the decision I ran to Beck with the news so that he would be in the minority and for him to tell Darcy. I ended up voting Karen because I knew she would be safe but I wanted to create doubt and paranoia in everyone's mind on who voted with Ben and I think I wouldn't be the first suspect you think of. Only a subtle move. For the arena I was rooting for Billy to win to cause chaos on the Sonkei tribe and so that Pete would go home because I think Pete might become a big threat and I rather he be out now than later. Also apparently Juls used the exile to make Landen safe from their tribal council it was obvious they were each other's #1 but now other people are starting to see it. I think that we need to put an end to it because she's telling people like Sammy about her power who she's not even on a tribe with, so it shows she's planning on jumping ship the moment she's not on this tribe. Juls NEEDS to go home. I'm gonna push for her to go home this round, next time I'm on call with Beck I'm gonna try to convince him his best move is to get rid of Juls so that way a big threat is outta the game, and it makes the game that much smoother sailing. It might upset Caeleb but honestly I find people like Darcy and Karen very easy to work with and willing to work closely with me in the long term in comparison to himself or Juls. So my plan is to try and get Beck to consider going after Juls stating how she is not going to be loyal to us come a swap unlike Karen or Darcy would be.

I, big dumb dumb, would like to retract and apologize about what I said about Beck and Juls bc when Beck told me I actually did message Juls saying I’m stressed and it didn’t occur to me that I ALSO BROKE THE RULES. I turned myself in but, yeah......it’s way harder to remember not to talk to people than I realized. Shame on me for JUDGING THEM for being newbies and not knowing how to follow the rules. This is the opposite of my proudest moment lmao

Whew what a round. BIlly is gone and honestly gonna miss the guy, I think he would have been a great shield for me at early merge, but im not too bothered by it, because Pete is somoene I think I can work with, so like good either way with this one. If we go to tribal again I am going to be in a very awkward position. Because I dont want to vote out sarah and I think the rest of the tribe does, meaning Im gonna need to make a decision if she is gonna be expendable to me or not. ideally we win until a swap but judging by our performances so far... I wouldnt count on it. I think if we did lose Id convince stoner to work with Sarah and to take out one of emma or jacob. I liek them both but at this point Im running out of options. Im sure theyd do the same in my shoes. I'd like a tribe swap, but in the same sense Im a lil scared of a tribe swap too haha.

I didn't start watching the show until after season 2 was released, so I'm wondering, how accurate did the fan theories about season 2 end up being? Was there any major theory that ended up being totally off-base, or did people manage to guess what would happen pretty accurately?

There were a LOT of wild theories tbh. There were some rlly good ones too. I remember a rlly popular one was that after someone leaked some set pictures of Millie filming the scene where El gets off the bus in Chicago, a lot of ppl started theorizing that Eleven was hiding out there with some friends Hopper had there or smth (Now we know that “the city” Hop used to live in was New York, but we didn’t know that pre-s2 so ppl figured it might be Chicago and he had an old apartment there or smth). There were also a LOT of theories centered around the tunnels, bc that was some of the only plot hints we had going in to the season. People caught on pretty quickly after the trailer came out that the drawings in the Byers house were a map of the tunnels, and stuff spiraled from there. I remember one theory I personally believed was that the tunnels were what Will used in the Upside Down to get around and hide from the Demogorgon. Another big theory was that the red cloud that the Mind Flayer appeared in in Will’s visions was going to be an actual physical storm coming to Hawkins, which came p much from the few shots of it in trailers alongside the fact that the show originally released some fake episode titles when they announced s2, and one of them was “The Storm”. The old title for “The Lost Sister” was actually “The Lost Brother” and a LOT of theories came from that, ranging from pretty accurate like it being another experiment, to completely off base, like one I remember was it being about a 4th Wheeler sibling (Mike’s twin) who died (p much just came from the fact that Mike has a bunk bed). OH and if you remember the DnD scene at the end of season 1, aka everything with the proud princess, the lost knight, and the weird flowers in the cave? Everyone was CONVINCED those were supposed to be clues for season 2. Literally 99% of s2 theories mentioned those 3 things, and in the end they were complete red herrings. I’m still bitter about that, and if u ask any blog who was here pre-s2, chances are they are too. A lot of theories also came from Dragon’s Lair, as the Duffers hinted a lot that there would be symbolism in the game. Now we know that “symbolism” was rlly nothing more than foreshadowing that Lucas would end up with Max and not Dustin (”Princess Daphne is still mine!”) but for a long time we thought it was PLOT foreshadowing. And lemme tell you anon, I personally did SO MUCH research on that game and watched the gameplay so many times making theories. The plot of the game is about a knight rescuing a missing princess from a dragon, and a lot of us thought that was going to foreshadowing for Mike saving El from whatever was the reason she was still missing. For a LONG time ppl thought El was going to be in the Upside Down for a full year. If you read any pre-s2 fics, there’s a good chance that’s going to be referenced, bc for so long we didn’t have ANY clue where she could be so we just assumed she was stuck in the Upside Down as a default. It wasn’t until a year after the show came out that it was confirmed she’d been out of the Upside Down since the beginning. So yeah for a long time there were a LOT of theories about the kids doing a rescue mission to the Upside Down. Another theory that came from Dragon’s Lair was that Dustin was going to die, bc his character dies in Dragon’s Lair and people thought that would be similar foreshadowing to how in s1 Will’s DnD character was taken by the Demogorgon, then that’s what happened in real life. Speaking of character deaths, a LOT of people thought Steve or Hopper were gonna die. There wasn’t rlly explanation behind it, but everyone kinda agreed, their character arcs as of the end of s1 were set up well if the show wanted to kill one of them off. Another big plot theory that I remember was that the Upside Down would be spreading to the real world, bc the tag line for season 2 was “The World Is Turning Upside Down” and people connected it back to Mr Clarke’s line about how the gate could swallow everyone up whole. That theory KINDA became true and the gate was spreading in s2, but it wasn’t the plot of the season or anything, and it wasn’t near as serious in reality as people theorized it to be. There were a also LOT of theories about Will too, and a lot of them were some variation of Will having powers. Oh and since one of the episode titles is “The Spy” there were a lot of theories about who the spy was, the most common ones I remember were Max, Billy, Bob, and Hopper. The first 3 bc they were the newbies (no pun intended on Bob’s end) and Hopper bc we kinda knew he had some connection going on with the lab, but didn’t know the nature or what was going on or anything. OHMYGOD and how could I forget the Thessalhydra. The FREAKING Thessalhydra. Another DnD related theory that I spent HOURS of my life dedicated to researching only for it to amount to NOTHING. The Thessalhydra is another DnD monster, and it was also mentioned in the campaign at the end of season 1, and everyone was convinced that would be the new monster from s2. There weren’t a lot of theories about the Mind Flayer going into season 2 just because we didn’t know enough to even have theories, but almost every theory that did exist assumed that the shadow monster was the Thessalhydra coming to Hawkins following the Demogorgons defeat. Another one I remember is since we got shots of Joyce, Hop, and Bob wearing scrubs in the trailer, people thought they were going undercover in a hospital to either 1) kidnap Will out of it or 2) steal medical files.

As for theories that were accurate, there was a surprising lot. Honestly in reality a LOT of stuff that happened in season 2 was stuff ppl either theorized about, but their theories went WAY more in depth & went beyond what actually happened, or it was smth ppl figured was too obvious to be true. So honestly in the end we definitely OVER-theorized a lot for s2. El and Hop was one of them. Hopper hiding El in a secret cabin in the woods was one of those things that everybody in the fandom thought about, but most of us thought it was too predictable to be true (especially because one of those original episode titles was literally “The Secret Cabin”). Everyone pretty much assumed that Dustin’s pollywog was really the slug Will threw up, and there were even a lot of theories about it being a baby Demogorgon (though I don’t think ANYONE anticipated the demodogs). Or like I mentioned before, a lot of theories about El going to Chicago, but none of them were even CLOSE to what really happened. Kali’s original name in the show was Roman, and they kept her SUPER secretive. When the final trailer of the show came out, they included a shot of the gang wearing masks, and I remember someone was able to figure out that one of them was Roman/Kali, and that’s rlly all we knew about her going in. I actually remember someone sent me an ask back then thinking that the girl next to her might be El in a mask too, and I specifically remember looking at that picture thinking “Nah that’s not her” bc I mean, no one expected anything like episode 7. They had announced there was going to be an independent episode, and I remember our theories ranged everywhere from a musical episode to flashbacks of the year between 1 and 2 to a whole episode dedicated to Terry and MKUltra. But at no point did anyone come even close to figuring out the truth. There’s a lot of smaller details ppl anticipated too, like the Stancy breakup or Bob’s death, and even a good chunk of the plot honestly, even if no one rlly theorized the exacts, the whole kinda premise and concepts we had brought up a lot before and we had loosely figured it out. But there was also so much stuff no one ever thought of before, like the Demodogs or everything with ep7 or the lab shutting down or Will getting possessed.

All in all honestly we did a pretty good job. Everything we COULD figure out based on the information we had we did for the most part, to the point where honestly this time around the show is being WAY more secretive in s3 because they don’t want us to figure stuff out again. Like I said before, honestly we over-theorized, we took all the information we had and definitely overthought everything a LOT and ended up going a lot more intense with it than what ultimately happened in the show lmao

Gotta say tho, the cutest thing I’ve seen in the Direct was a Yoshi wearing the Labo Piano. IS THERE ANYTHING CUTER?! Oh wait, there’s Kirby as Pirahna Plant.

Everything they showcased me regarding Three Houses convinced me to give it a shot. Literally everything. I might choose to join Edelgard’s house since she was the first of the three to be revealed.

Then, ladies and gentleman, came Tetris: Fortnite Edition. Seriously, that’s its true name, it’s a battle royale, come on.

After watching Dead by Daylight I thought: “What if somebody does it, but with ALL of the horror movie icons like It, Freddy Kreuger and Chucky?”

I was happy for the Deltarune chapter 1 reveal. BUT I WAS HAPPIER WHEN I FOUND OUT IT’S FREE. And then I got angry for the fact that follwing chapters won’t be free. But I know Toby’s hard at work and I will pay galleons of money to simply see where is the doggo in the game.

The things from Daemon X Machina up to Hellblade didn’t get my interest.

Although I have to say, I was surprised they revealed Unravel two for Switch. That made me happy, I can finally be a Yarny!

I knew that they would give release dates for FFVII and related games.

Astral Chain joins the Platinum family of games that look deep in terms of story and deserve to be played, along with W101 and the Bayonetta trilogy. Thank god they also gave an update on Bayo 3′s development or else someone would have gone nuts.

I prayed to god that the last reveal was Erdrick, but now I ain’t trusting leaks anymore. Gotta say tho, Link’s Awakening looks like the least noticed of the Zelda games, and I hope it gets more love when it gets released. Also, LINK Y U SO CUTE IN 3D GRAPHICS AAAA

I am really curious for all the secrets Nintendo’s hiding about Smash’s 3.0 update and Joker. Let’s hope they stop teasing us and give actual fucking gameplay for once next April.

The Direct gets a 7.5/10 for me for lack of Smash content. 8/10 if Super Mario Maker 2 has amiibo costumes like the 1st one and even more of them.

Welcome to the Award show!

Player of the Season (POTS)

First, I would like to give the award for Player of the Season. This award goes to a person who did not win, yet they still had a significant impact on the game. This award goes to two people.

This person was one of the first to go on the anti-Jodi warpath that would shape the rest of the merge. While not succeeding, their efforts made them a clear winner’s pick for multiple rounds, and they shook up the game on multiple occasions. Their first power play during the Fusion round established themselves as the Head of the other side. They also managed the feat of taking out Jodi before Jodi could take them out. Therefore, I proudly give this award to…

Colin.

He has shown what it takes to work from the top to the bottom and back to the top again. While he may have it easy for a few rounds thanks to some idols, it was his good social game and excellent jury management that managed to net him those advantages in the first place. All of Jodi’s blindspots he took advantage of, recruiting allies in Amy, Elle, and Josh who Jodi had distanced herself from. If he had played his idol during the Invisible Round, I am sure that he would be sitting in one of the FTC spots right now. Congratulations.

This person needs no introduction. Their impact on the game was tremendous. You could not go anywhere in this game without having heard their name. I am surprised they managed to make it as far as they did with such a huge target from the onset of merge. However, I could not be more proud to give them this award for all their hard effort. While they may not have won, they still showed a tremendous amount of grit that is worthy of recognition. Therefore, I proudly give this award to…

Jodi

This season could be renamed Survivor: Jodi Islands because everything in this game seemed to revolve around her. From the beginning of merge, Jodi ruled this game with an iron fist and never let go. She had one single goal in mind and while it may have caused a slight case of tunnel vision, it did help motivate her to keep pushing herself harder in this game. She definitely was the one who put the most effort and was the most visible in this game. For those efforts, I am happy to give her this award.

Fan Favorite

The spectators in the Viewing Lounge have been voting for their favorite player since the Final 4 Tribal Council. This award goes to...

Colin with 50% of the votes.

Raffy’s Favorite Player

The mysterious and elusive favorite player award. This award goes to my favorite person to watch while they were in the game. It was extremely fun to poke their game, watch them succeed, watch them make mistakes, and just listen to their train of thought. I know I have found a new ORG friend in this person. I will give this award to….

Dennis.

Despite having only been to tribal twice, Dennis made every pre-merge round very fun with his plotting. Several times in this game I desperately wanted the Phantom tribe to go to tribal because I wanted to see how Dennis’ plans would take form. When you guys voted him out, I was disappointed because he did not get to showcase his full ORG potential in this game. I would’ve loved to watch it go down more.

Villain of the Season

This is my favorite award of the night, and it only goes to the most esteemed. After all, from an iconic villain to iconic villain, right? This award goes to the person with the most backstabs and most villainous game plan. They never let up on their villainy despite knowing that it would rub people on the jury the wrong way. They made great allies, and then promptly showed them the door when it most suited them. They were able to recognize threats from a mile away and get rid of them quickly and efficiently. Their multitude of lies hardly ever, if ever, got them in trouble. As many have pointed out, their lies seemed unnecessary, yet they still worked towards their overarching goal. Somehow, lying and playing villainously always worked out for our Villain. So, without further ado, I present the Villain of the Season Award to...

Jodi.

Jodi has to be the textbook definition of a Villain. She will lie to you all day and all night until you get to believe what she is selling. She is an excellent liar and an excellent villain for reasons different from me. She masters the subterfuge and secret-keeping of a villain while negating and keeping to a minimum the chaos by planning for every scenario. It is these qualities that landed her in the Final 3 in the first place. Congratulations from a fellow villain!

Hero of the Season

The nominees for Hero of the Season go to...

Colin Elle Amy

I initially had a person in mind for this award, but this perception changed as we neared the endgame. Now, I have decided to give Hero of the Season to the person who did the least amount of lying, was playing from the bottom the whole time for a true underdog story, and kept a positive vibe throughout the entire game. They were a person incredibly easy to root for and managed to make FTC truly the apex of what this game could be. Hero of the Season goes to…

Elle.

Elle’s gameplay throughout the season has been very Hero-like. They would tell jokes to keep the mood up and were even initially targeted partly because they are likeable. Their social game was one to be feared as Elle never made any enemies even while voting someone out.

Best Alliance

The nominees for best alliance go to...

Jodi’s Lovers (Jodi, Jared, Jay) Y’all Ready for Chaos (Colin, Josh, Elle, Amy) Wingwomaning Jodi (Jodi, Anastasia, Jared)

This alliance, from its inception, was incredibly strong. They were made in the mid-game, but they all had a common goal that united them. This goal even persuaded others from outside the alliance to not target them. Afterwards, people did not realize that these three were ever in an alliance because of how well they played. Thus, best alliance goes to…

Wingmaning Jodi (Jodi, Anastasia, Jared)

While this alliance started with Jay in it, it was only until after his vote out did they earn this award. During the invisible round, Anastasia played double agent wherein she leaked all of Colin’s plans. This helped this alliance plan their move out with Josh to take out Colin. For the rest of the game, free information was funneled into that information because the other players had no idea that they were all together. In this way, this alliance impressed me the most.

Best Under the Radar Game

The nominees for Best UTR game are...

Anastasia Josh Jared Amy

This award rewards someone who played while avoiding the target for some time. People underestimated their strategic ability which came to be their downfall. In fact, while others got shit for being “backstabbers” and “liars,” this person managed to avoid such a label despite having played a very similar game. They mastered what it meant to be a floater before their untimely exit. Therefore, this award goes to…

Josh.

He definitely floated between alliances. From working with Colin against Jodi to working with Jodi against Colin. Without his information and participation, none of the moves made by the big power players could have been made. His invisible round play was by far his best as he got out Colin before Colin could get him out. He had an extraordinary ability to assess threats accurately and make efforts toward them. If he hadn’t been rocked out, I would not have been surprised to see him at Final Tribal Council being declared the winner of Survivor: Metaverse.

Best Move

The nominees for Best Move are...

Jodi’s/Josh’s Invisible Round Colin’s Chaos Idol Brayden’s Decisions Decisions Amy’s Idol Secret

And the award goes to…

Jodi’s/Josh’s Invisible Round

Both of these people had a big hand in one of the most masterful moves made this season. The Invisible Round had a 2-1-1-1-1-1 vote wherein both Josh and Jodi had a hand in making it happen. Firstly, Jodi had convinced everyone that Jared had won individual immunity when, in actuality, it was Anastasia who won. This, and the fear of Jared’s idol being used on Jodi, made it so that the alliance of Wingwomaning Jodi would not be targeted this round. Instead, people used this manufactured opportunity to target each other. Josh had made his move first and his UTR game helped establish strong trust with Jodi. His plan to get rid of the idol manifested itself when he managed to make Colin comfortable enough to not use it. Thus, Josh was able to a) get rid of an idol and b) get rid of a strong contender to win. All of this would have been impossible without his masterful maneuvering in this game that made him least likely to be targeted by others. We stan these two and one of the most flavorful moves this whole game.

Best Pre-Juror

To celebrate those that did not make it as far as I would like to have sen them go, here is the award for Best Pre-Juror. The nominees are...

Jessica Moth Danny

All of these people definitely deserved to make it much farther than they did. The Fools tribe was just a different sort of cursed. They could not catch a break. However, all these nominees would have caused some sort of destruction at the merge. This award will go to the person I feel had the most squandered potential and was eliminated from this game all too soon. This award goes to....

Danny.

I was in shock when Danny managed to keep himself and Shaad safe in that Fools tribe despite Shaad being incredibly inactive. Danny managed at 2-1-1 vote to get out Jessica, flipped Jared to take out Moth and betray Jessica, and further managed to get out Jennifer instead of Ginny (for whatever reason). He has a different sort of mastery of this game and elevated the gameplay of the pre-merge. Without him, it would have just been a slow and boring pagonging. He kept the pre-merge interesting by playing as if it were a merge. I can only imagine that kind of gameplay at the merge where it would have taken him very far, especially with the already chaotic merge we had.

The unlucky rock changed the whole game. Without that rock, Josh would have managed to play almost perfectly to the finale. Perhaps he would have been the only one capable of taking out both Amy and Jodi from the picture before FTC. I would love to see him in another game to demonstrate how much he can truly shine as a master strategist. Good luck with your game king. Don’t forget your crown.

You may be worried by Ribbot’s decision to never carry an umbrella when it rains much like his frog companions, but the character’s rally cry of “Never rest, never rust” tells you what you need to know about his resiliency. When robots take over our world, we can only hope they have the heart and grace of Ribbot.

19. Mira

With her “big sister” personality, futuristic vibes, and recent insistence on calling everyone “cottontail,” the mysterious Mira has been stealing our hearts since she arrived in Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

Much like Cotton Eye Joe, nobody really knows where Mira comes from or where she’ll go. However, her thought bubble cry of “I want a futuristic space full of futuristic furniture!” will echo through eternity.

18. Lobo

Somewhere between Ernest Hemmingway and the grouchy old guy you lived next to growing up is Lobo: the outdoor-loving wolf with a heart of…well, certainly not gold

I don’t know what it is about this cranky purple wolf that speaks so loudly to my soul, but since Animal Crossing’s earliest days, he’s one of the wolves that I want in my village and by my side.

17. Knox

Maybe it’s because I suffer from a rare case of chicken blindness, but when I look at Knox, I don’t see a chicken; I see a noble knight.

This “Man of La Mancha’s” adventuring days may be behind him, but Knox’s ability to get medieval on the Animal Crossing series has been appreciated ever since he made his debut in Animal Crossing: City Folk

16. Lionel

Lionel’s passing resemblance to Colonel Sanders of KFC fame earns him some bonus points (as does his gentlemanly demeanor), but when I think of Lionel, I think of class.

After all, Lionel upgraded his tasteful Victorian home in Animal Crossing: New Leaf to a skyscraper penthouse in New Horizons. He’s a lion that isn’t afraid to keep up with the times, and for that, he is our cultural superior in every conceivable way.

15. Chief

With his famous saying “Don’t wish it were easier; wish you were better” and his rally cry of “harrumph,” it’s easy to assume that Chief is just the jerk that his cranky personality seems to suggest he is.

Yet, Chief’s thrift store decor in New Horizons suggests that Chief is actually an ‘80s dance movie protagonist with the fire of the streets in his soul just waiting to burn down the stuffy world he was born into.

14. Marina

Some Octopuses use their eight tentacles to take eight times more than they’ll ever need and squeeze the world. Others use them to warm society with a slightly tight and surprisingly squishy embrace.

Marina is an example of the latter. This ode to joy has been brightening up Animal Crossing village since their debut in New Leaf, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

13. Beau

Beau is an enigma. He’s a lazy villager whose famous sayings include the line “You snooze, you lose.” Is this a defeated deer on the verge of a breakdown over the paths not walked?

No, as it turns out, Beau is just a naturalist whose charming personality and looks have made it easy for him to embrace a simpler lifestyle. He also owns some truly fantastic sweaters.

12. Lucha

Coming off the top rope like the Macho Man on a vengeance quest against the dastardly Hulk Hogan is Lucha: the mysterious masked wrestler who has graced many a lucky Animal Crossing players’ villages.

We don’t know much about the bird behind the mask, but Lucha’s warm personality suggests that wrestling is just his work and he does it for pay. When it’s over, he’d just as soon go on his way.

11. Raymond

It’s tempting to hate Raymond after his explosion in popularity in New Horizons, but since I suspect that Raymond is fuelled by the cries of “haters,” I’ll counter his strategy by welcoming him into the ranks of Animal Crossing’s best villagers.

Somewhere between a business cat and a fashion cat, Raymond would devour Wall Street’s Gordon Gekko in the same way that so many cats before him have devoured so many geckos before them.

10. Zucker

As a fan of the Japanese snack “Takoyaki” from which Zucker’s original Japanese name (Takoya) and elements of the character’s look are derived, I suppose you could say that I’m a bit biased in my admiration for one of Animal Crossing’s few octopus villagers.

However, it’s really the way that Zucker’s entire demeanor flies in the face of the fact that takoyaki consists of fried dough balls stuffed with minced octopus meat that leaves me no choice to respect this king of villagers.

9. Whitney

Whitney may come across as a snooty villager with a better than you attitude, but maybe you should consider the possibility that your real problem with Whitney is that she’s a class act with style to burn.

As a wolf firmly against the idea of crying wolf, it’s clear that Whitney doesn’t play and very likely dropped out of school because of recess.

8. Fauna

Look, I’m not saying Fauna ranks this high on this list because she’s a deer who calls everyone “dearie,” but I’m also not going to insult your intelligence by sitting here and pretending that didn’t factor into this decision.

Mostly, though, it’s Fauna’s warm vibes, retro decor, and undeniably cute design that helps her stand out from some truly considerable competition.

7. Beardo

While we’re all more than a little tired of people who base their personalities on their facial hair, we’d probably all be a little more willing to put up with it if their facial hair was nearly as excellent as Beardo’s.

This ladies’ man bear doesn’t actually have a proper beard, but his mutton chops, mustache, and tweed jacket strike a figure that makes it easier than ever to overlook his smug personality and lack of namesake facial hair and just appreciate everything he is.

6. Chevre

In case you couldn’t tell from her bright big eyes that have caused lifelong enemies to end their conflicts, Chevre is a dreamer in the body of a goat.

Chevre is the kind of villager you’d do anything for. While she’d probably never ask you to do anything more than live your best life, I’d have no problem answering a 3 a.m. call from Chevre to meet her in Manhattan and help her steal some diamonds as easily as she stole our hearts.

5. Merengue

Lots of villagers make it to this prestigious list (some would say the most prestigious list) for lots of reasons, but in the case of Merengue, the reasons are almost all based on her iconic looks.

As the best “food” villager in Animal Crossing history, Merengue embraces her looks by baking up a storm whenever you visit her cafe-themed home. She’s the friend we all want in our lives if for no other reason than she’s always got a sweet roll to spare.

4. Stitches

Do I have questions about how Stitches (an apparently stuffed animal who regularly takes residency in Animal Crossing’s villages) actually came to life and gained sentience? No, I don’t, because I don’t question the good things in my life.

Stitches is one of the most visually iconic characters in Animal Crossing history as well as one of the characters that still has an element of mystery to them despite the fact that they’ve been in every AC game.

3. Marshal

This squirrel without a cause has long been one of the most desirable villagers in Animal Crossing history. Somewhere behind those “I don’t care eyes” is the insistence of millions of players everywhere who scream into the night their assurances that he does care because they care.

Marshal is one of the coolest characters in AC history as well as one of the characters that made players realize there are certain villagers they want more than any other.

2. Bob

A popular theory suggests that Bob was actually the first Animal Crossing villager the series’ developers ever created. If that is the case, then I have to commend them for having the courage to continue to create despite achieving near perfection.

Bob has long been one of the internet’s favorite Animal Crossing villagers, and the fact that so many elements of his personality seem to cater to the internet’s love for memes hardly makes his iconic status a surprise. He’s a legend that’s legacy has surpassed even his in-game attributes.

1. Lucky

If the best Animal Crossing villagers are defined by the ways they let their personality shine through relatively simple mechanics, then Lucky has to be considered one of the very best Animal Crossing villagers ever at the very least.

Hello this is my first time talking here since Nik and Nash left the game oops lmao I just have a lot of fun just ranting with Cindi. Can we flashback to my interview with Monty where Monty asked: At what twist would you excel? Which I answered: The one where you can't vote for whoever you've already voted cause Im a hated bitch. Well spoiler alert, I think nobody has ever voted for me and I am FUCKED. My social game has been ON POINT so far and I'm about to get fucked by this twist cause literally 8 people can vote for me and I'm pretty sure I'm the only one everyone can vote for (that I know of). So I've just been playing both sides all this time, I have Jared on one side, Beck and Blake on the other and Owen in the middle with me. All of them have told that they are not voting for me this round which idk if it's me being naive but I really believe that I have their backs and therefore they have mine. Truth is idc that much about them, I literally told Jared: If you wanna take Beck out, do it, just I'm not gonna vote for him. And same thing I told Blake and Beck about Jared. So whenever this war is over I'm probably sitting pretty somewhere in F6/4. If I'm able to survive this round and next round my name doesn't come up, Im going to be shook cause I'm sure they have noticed how EVERYONE has been targetted at some point in the game while I have never been (let's forget that Cycle2 mess with Nathan cause...). They can't be that stupid unless they really think they can take me out on F4 or beat me at F2 which fair I don't have the messiest/most aggresive gameplay but I think it's a risk taking a social threat too far. If this is my last confessional, ily hosts, thank you for everything.

Blake and I rlly doing the most!!! Last two rounds I got Isaac voted out twice lmao and both times he came back which was sad bht at least this time he took out Juls who I also didn’t need in this game. My goal has been to keep bigger players like jared Raul Blake in while picking off others and this round makes it a little more complicated... Thankfully I’m basically safe unless I get dragged which I’m trying to make not happen. Blake and I rlly popped off both throwing out votes yesterday but Isaac STILL getting the four and leaving... chefs kiss. We rlly know where everyone is voting at all times and the crazy thing is nobody rlly suspects we are exchanging info??? Jared blames ryan for all the stuff getting leaked to Blake. The one problem with Blake being my closest ally rn is that he fucking leaks everything and let’s people KNOW he knows stuff. Annoying. Also I’m sure he will beat me at the end tbh which I can’t let happen but also I feel much more loyal to him than anyone else other than maybe patrick sooo idk ugh. I wouldn’t mind flushing the LOS tho. Hopefully Raul picks Blake to flush it if Raul leaves. Right now I was planning on LeaDing a push against Raul with nathan as a backup plan but jared kinda messed that up by convincing ryan and Isaac to vote Blake with him. I can’t let Blake die. But also pat can’t even vote for Blake so the max Blake can get is three and he knows myself nathan and him can all vote together for Raul.... so I don’t fuckin know anymore. I could vote Raul with Blake nathan and pat but then I risk getting dragged. I don’t wanna put myself in danger on another vote where I am 100% safe. So maybe I throw my vote and let it tie 3-3 between Blake and Raul??? But then idk what would happen. Beck would be forced to choose an ally and then I could still get dragged by Raul. Unless I throw my vote and tell Blake to play his LOS and then Raul goes with three votes and can only drag pat or nathan????? That sounds best to me but that’s clearly worse for Blake and pat who I need to consider Ugh! Idk. Right now my ideal final four is one with either jared or Blake who will Hopefully get voted out and not drag me??? I want Pat there. Sitting next to ryan or pat would be crazy. Honestly jared ryan pat and myself final four sounds best for me because we could vote jared and I don’t think he would drag me but isk. The shitty thing is that means Blake would have to go and I don’t ever wanna write his name down. I need Beck and nathan out sooooon!!!! I wish beck could go this round and then Raul next oof idk

i didn't think i'd get this far and the sequester format still stresses me out to worry too much about getting to the end but anyways i'm just trying to keep the target off of me and i'm letting blake play more boldly so that he's always a bigger threat than me. also we have 3 combined LOS's which is wild going into single digits idk we just have to be careful and play smart bc everyone is gonna try to play around them

PATRICK

So these past few rounds post jury has not been as bad as I was expecting. The twists have benefitted me greatly. Even though I had to play my LOS when isaac called me down I think I’m still good. Me and Owen are like killing it and people have no idea we’re working together. I plan to work with Owen and take him to final 2 even if I lose. Finally getting to work with him has been amazing

Episode 3 | “It does not look good for our tribe. Honestly, we suck... Really bad. ” - Duncan

The way I absolutely flopped at that puzzle… this is why I’m a Beauty cause a sis ain’t smart to complete a puzzle and I’m not brawn-y enough to do well in a challenge hgjfdk BUT that being said, Hagthor beat the thots and apiss and I couldn’t be any happier! I do wish Brawn lost over Brain but yknow, you can’t have everything go your way (‘: it’s funny how I slayed the last challenge and flopped this one tho like a bitch really lacks consistency huh ghfjndmks

Heading into a second tribal council, there is becoming less and less room to hide. I am struggling to hold my own against the other tribes when it comes to competitions, but thank goodness it's a numbers game. If everything goes accordingly, I am taking a backseat this vote and allowing a 4-2 vote out when it comes to Trace. I appreciated Duncan coming to me with the alliance chat information with him/Scott/Trace/Isaac, but didn't like how Autumn needed to tell me first. Shows that I really can't trust Scott/Duncan after a swap comes up. In regards to Scott, he outright didn't say anything. I like him and all, but it was a slimy move to say the least. He only said something because he HAD to vote out someone in one of his two alliances. This group will be dumb as hell if they let me swap. I'll flip on them as soon as possible and invite anyone into my alliance. The tribe swap is where I made my 'Slithers' game infamous last time, so I'm hoping for a similar output. Don't forget: I swapped with the minority last time in Guyana (shout out to Jess), so I'm not worried about the numbers and how its split. ALL I NEED IS A SWAP OR TWIST. GET ME OUT OF HERE.

Wow we’re really flopping this challenge huh! I really hate this as a group challenge bc we wasted so much time believing in an algorithm that doesn’t even work!

okay so i again filmed a video confessional while walking the dog which i WILL eventually upload i promise hosts BUT. this challenge was literally torture, staring at the excel spreadsheet was so draining. TJ did so much work for it so I really really hope we win he is so sweet i was real mean to him at the start for truly no reason NNN i really really want the beauty tribe to go to to tribal, or the brains lot again i guess? i dont really wanna go to tribal even though i think Liam M is the easy vote? i'd rather not. i just feel really drained after that challenge i wish this confessional was even a little bit exciting im sorry hosts

i feel like i underappreciated dan as an ally?! the more i talk to him its like hmmm we vibe and we have similar energy? like i get very different but good energies from all of dan, jake and jordan! which i love, like i feel really good about them all. like what's reassuring about dan (and this sounds weird) is he feels fine complaining about others to me in pms? like jake does the same and that makes me feel really reassured trust wise - like i would never talk negatively about another player to someone i distrusted tbh... so i feel really good about that! i feel like particularly in a maybe swap i'll really bond with whoever i get to swap with even MORE. idk i just feel good about this brawn tribe still i don't want to GOOO.

okay so yesterday was... eventful! i watched the sequester mini with jake which was super fun and then right after... he cracked the tomb and i decided to tell jake about my idol. have i had it since day two? yes. but i told him i found it during the mini so i wouldnt seem sus. i dont regret my decision (so far at least anyway JKASD) because a) he cracked the tomb and immediately told me b) i think he is loyal and particularly since i told him i can and will idol him like i dont think he has incentive to leak my idol unless it comes down to lategame and he wants to blindside me but i don't see myself being able to hold onto the idol until that stage anyway! but yeah so jake knows about my idol so i'm hoping i can use it to my benefit, or to save him because i'm really invested in his success this season. maybe we are gonna be the two brawns at the end woo and tony style even tho i think i'm probs the woo nnnnn

Trace went home and that is yet another potential connection I could’ve had in the game GONE… like the Brains really wanna see me flop huh! It’s interesting that it was 4-2 vote tho like it has my overthinking self spiraling lowkey. I do really feel for the Brains having to lose twice though like I’ve been on a flop tribe before and morale is always low so my heart goes out to them and I hope they beat Brawn xoxo

This challenge? Literal homophobia! Like I love unscrambled eggs and I want my eggs cracked by VARIOUS men but this was not what I had in mind (‘: this challenge being my alliance + AJ is interesting as well considering that AJ was the one person I haven’t established a game connection with but I do really like him. In a way, I do think him participating in this challenge is the best thing that could’ve happened to his game since it allows him to build more connections with others? That being said, Connor on the other hand… is disappointing me in a way like the king isn’t talking much or doing much. If he has personal stuff to attend to, I completely get it and he should focus on that first but I do wanna know so I don’t assume he disappeared yknow (‘: but oh well !!!

I do think me honing in on the fact that Kendall and I are two peas in a pod in this game has her really thinking that which is awesome! I do adore that girl but I gotta keep an eye out (for Selener). She did tell me that her goals this round include the following 1) Set up an alliance with us + Austin, 2) Get AJ to be our alliance’s fake 5th, and 3) Get out Adam. While I am glad she told me all of this, I’m just very cautious of her connections? Austin and I are super close and he likes her, that’s fine. My thing is with AJ because while we were calling, I did pick up on the fact that those two have played before and whatnot so who knows. I’m just a naturally stressed person so ye !!! I do really like Adam though so I hope we don’t lose at all (‘:

I hate myself for being on a call for 9 hours in this game ghjfkdls but that being said, I do genuinely love everyone on this tribe and the thought of losing makes me super emo because I feel close to every person here in one way or another. It’s a dilemma too because us winning this challenge would be ideal but if we do win and Brawn goes to tribal, the Beauty Tribe becomes public enemy number one in a swap scenario because why wouldn’t the other tribes wanna get rid of the tribe that has the most members yknow? It’s a nail-biter regardless ;-;

So I'm not surprised that we lost AGAIN! Lowkey I feel like I did everything during this challenge so not only do I feel more defeated, but I'm annoyed that not too many people contributed. Like I have to constantly ask people how they're doing in the challenge, and they provide me with NOTHING!! And I'm tired of voting people out :/ Anyways, I feel like voting out Isaac is a dumb move for my game going forward, because Duncan/Autumn are clearly a duo. Duncan even said to me that he wouldn't mind voting out Devon if we needed too. If we don't swap next round and lose again, I have the feeling Duncan and Autumn are going to try and pit Devon and I against each other. I like to think they'd choose me over Devon since I don't have any connections to anyone. The smart move would be for them to utilize Isaac and blindside me, but I like to think they wouldn't be doing that anytime soon. I feel bad voting out Isaac because I know how much he hated being booted early in Malaysia. So to do that to him again is really sad to me. I would try to convince Devon to split up Autumn/Duncan, but he's all about the 4 going forward. Everyone is and as much as I love the 4, that type of game is boring. Idk maybe my style of gameplay is different than theirs. If I see that I'm in a sinking ship, I make sure to grab a life vest and swim to another boat. I don't sit on the boat and say "okay, time to drown now". Luckily none of them know me for the numerous times that I've flipped on alliances before. If we do swap next round, my plan is to remain loyal to whichever brain is on my tribe. However, this won't stop me from trying to make connections with people from other tribes and making new alliances. If I need to ditch my brains to solidify trust with my new tribe, then that is exactly what I am going to do. In the event that I do leave tomorrow, this game was fun! After being out of the tumblr survivor community for 3 years, I don't think I'd come back for a future org/season because the amount of stress i've been in this past week is more than I've endured with online learning since corona came to town. Idk I wouldn't be surprised if a #blindside came my way.

it's only day 7 and we havent even been to tribal yet and we STILL arent going because we won again, and im already going off the deep end like am i crackedt?? what the hell is happening on this tribe like am i the quiet one or is there just a collective quiet going on since we're just sliding through the game rn?? im not gonna lie it's kinda boring... it's getting weird.....the fact that there's an idol just looming around and someone has it and isnt telling me is making me crazy, and then to make me even more crazy i foolishly decided to sit out of the challenge today, i knew i probably wasnt gonna be good at anything with the letters all jumbled together, im just being real so i decide to spare my tribe and myself mostly the misery and sit out, i dont want to be perceived as weak completely and be voted off right now for it, but i do want to start to make sure people think im not that good at the challenges so i dont have a target going foward- also, im really just not good at the challenges. BUT apparently everyone was just like on a call together all day because of the challenge and obviously i couldnt be in it so :// my own fault! i didnt think it through completely and luckily we won, but if we hadnt, i mean... a day long on/off call is more than enough to bond over and pick a first boot from those not in it, but aj updated me on everything and at least according to him, my name wasnt mentioned and they were mostly working on the challenge and discussing white men, so that means i didnt miss much! im still working day by day on trying to water my relationships with everyone and make sure theyre ready to bloom into my little alliances once its had enough time to absorb all the sunshine i naturally radiate!! However.... others arent doing the same gorl.... like connor, literally messaged me out of the blue just to have a conversation and when i tried talking to him he stops messaging me right away ... like hello is it something i said?? i literally feel like parvati when she was going is it me?? am i being punkd??? also tried talking to kendall again today, i do enjoy her i will say she's growing on me but as of now she hasnt responded to me yet, which is ok since i never respond to anyone either oop hopefully its just not everyone vs. adam already in other news i guess a swap could be coming?? i really just dont want to be on a tribe with jakey because im not ready to dig up the hatchet from cvc lets keep it buried please!! unless he's completely forgotten that and wants to work with me and be my shield again but um... dont think he'd be up for that! im here to play a NEW game not my old one, in any case, no matter what happens i feel like as long as i have any of my fellow A name sisters- AJ, Augusto, or Amir with me, i could possibly be fine... i dont think Amir was really playing me anymore either like i did yesterday smh i think that was just a tangent of paranoia my mind created (maybe ..)

I feel like we have to be swapping tonight like this brains tribe has lost so many challenges in a rwo, that ifit wasnt planned i feel like the hosts have to be like "put it in sis they movin" Im gonna spendthe rest of the of today working on my relationships with the rest of my brawny boys, so no if we do swap, on matter what configurations it lands on I should have options. Still dont know jac shit about the tomb and that is bothering me but thats a problem for another day.

Well, thank god that we were able to pull that challenge out. I knew if we lost it that my ass could potentially be on the line given how large of a role I played in organizing that challenge, so it would have been sad (and hella scary) to have lost that. But I do think I've shown that I can be a valuable asset to this tribe now in the event that we somehow stay in tribes for another round. I'm anticipating a tribe swap here this next round, so I kind of just need to prepare to meet some new people and hope that I'm on a tribe with some people that I've gotten along with. Ideally, I'd have Jake with me and we'd act as if we weren't that close, but I'd be happy to see basically anyone but Liam there with me. He's a great guy, but I know he doesn't trust me, I know I don't trust him, so I really don't want that to be my only lifeline on a swap tribe.

okay so in the event we swap out of the brawn tribe tonight... which would be TRAGIC i wanted to do an in memoriam of apis 1.0! TJ - i was SO rude and wrong about him! he is genuinely so sweet and lovely, and super hard working. i think he would be a good one to swap with, it would build our bond and he is a challenge workhorse! i hope he isn't mad at me for my round one confessionals, just know tj that i was WRONG and that i was the clown! Lovelis - I get really good energy from him but we also... never talk so idk where I'm getting that from? I think he is definitely going to be a casualty of the swap, I see him definitely getting picked of? Which would be sad! idk we will see Liam M - He is really sweet, but we also talk super infrequently? I feel like he trusts me which is good?! But I think he is definitely gonna go premerge unfortunately just since he isnt super active? we will see ahh Jordan - I really like Jordan i think he is great! we are working together but something about his energy has seemed... off recently? and jake has noticed the same thing and idk what to do with that it just seems off? idk i feel like we potentially are gonna drift apart as allies which would be a shame! Dan - I really love Dan, he has such good energy which I really vibe with him? I think I kind of underestimated his potential as an ally which I really regret I like him a lot tbh.. I'd like to build that trust further for sure, he just gives off such good ally energy Jake - ahh yes have left my favourite for last. ugh i love jake his energy is the best and i trust him 100% unequivocally. he knows about my idol (may've kept it a secret for two rounds but i told him eventually which is what counts jasldfkas) i want him to succeed in this game so badly, im really hopeful for him to SNAP also quickly about the brain tribal, i just hope isaac/autumn/duncan are safe. those are my only preseason connections and would kinda love to see any/all of them in a swap situation tbh i think i want that devon slithers man gone he seems sneaky (is it just because slithers sounds like a snake yes)

It’s been way too quiet around here so I’ve accepted that Duncan/Autumn/Devon/Isaac are all voting me out tonight. Devon keeps talking to me about the swap and really emphasizing about it, so I get sketch vibes from that. Plus that Duncan/Autumn duo is very strong so it makes sense for them to want to vote me out. Plus apparently Isaac is writing my name down tonight so... it’s been fun! I enjoyed my 7 days that I spent here and can’t wait for the perjury trip with Trace and Bodhi 🥳🥳🥳

Lowkey kinda bummed we won this challenge. Which probably raises a few death flags but whatever. I would have liked to put our alliance to the test before a swap :/. It also would have been neat to have the fucking idiot who voted with Trace as a spare vote, now they are definitely going to get fucked. Luckily the challenge provided some new optunity for alliances. For starters we can make a natural extra alliance with AJ without drawing conclusions to a mysterious third faction. Even though Connor did jack shit... I'm not bitter just... disappointed. :/

The Brains lost and I really do feel for them but Brawn winning makes our numbers equal and the Brawns are more threatening overall so that should mean that Brains would want to work with us in a swap scenario yknow? Now that we won, I SHOULD be chilling right? Well, I hate myself so I’m not doing that one bit. I am deathly afraid of a swap next round because the makings of a swap are all there (a flop tribe that needs a swap to save them, us being at 18 people is perfect for 3 tribes of 3, etc). I’m scared I will get swap fucked in some capacity so I’m just aaaa. That being said, I do want to make sure I leave on amazing terms with everyone before we swap in case I am separated from anyone or I join some of these legends on a new tribe.

honestly, our tribe has been pretty much on a high. our most recent challenge seemed like something tailored for us to lose, and while i was nervous for a second, we were able to best the brains tribe and send them to tribal for the THIRD time. (i really thought they'd have that one in the bag!) i feel sorry for those nerds, they just can't catch a break :( but seriously, the challenge itself really opened doors of opportunity for me in the game i feel. me/kendall/amir/augusto were on call from 11AM est to the time challenge results went up.. and it was an experience. we all got along pretty well and put our braincells together to get through that challenge, but their company was what made it worthwhile! connor was also participating in the challenge, but he didn't really do anything. although i know he's been pretty busy lately so i'm not too bent about it and completely understand, just wish he said a little more in the chat other than the two messages he did! i think what i'm preparing for right now is the swap. i really wanna cement solid relationships and allegiances with the people on my tribe as we anticipate going into bigger tribes as of next round or the round after. i wouldn't mind just staying on this tribe, though. our dynamic is great, the people are great, and we're even better in competition. there's really not much of a loss there if you ask me!

So in the past 24 hours I've worked my ass off to try to get Autumn and Devon to vote with me against Scott and/or Duncan and I'm not getting my hopes up. Like everything they've given me has been so vague and I've tried to go the extra mile to try to get Autumn and Devon to trust me. I think I'm going home tonight and if I do that's tragic but not exactly a #blindside. It might be my curtain call but I hope I at least made them doubt each other.

So we won again! I felt terrible in our challenge chat because I really couldn't get my head around the patterns and shit everyone else was doing, honestly hope they don't see general weakness in me because of it.. I'm good at like, everything else, but I dunno, this season's just not been looking favourably on me yet. After the flag incident and then that challenge, I feel like I probably am in the most danger, and I still don't know what to do about it except spam everyone all the time in hopes they feel some social tie to me... I hate it here I rly do. Hopefully we'll start to get more comps I can excel in because so far it's been flop after flop and I rly hate to see it.

Okay I’m gonna say it, I love my alliance so much.I will not play with my heart and I’ll kill them if I have to but I really really really don’t want to, I obvi love my alliance with Augusto, Kendall, and Connor so much, but i will not play with my heart and ill backstab them if i have to but i really really dont want to. I would also like if adam austin and aj were safe. I really really like adam a lot. he is a fking sweetheart, and hes so funny. Austin is also great and super genuine and kind. i feel bad for calling him boring earlier, and aj is just funny and cool in general. the best case is we never have to go to tribal and i get to keep my inbred nocturnal intoxicated-at-all-times tribe members here. I am gonna need as many of these people in the game as possible for the swap and for the merge, and if we end up do having to go to tribal, I will do everything in my power to keep the tribe from getting divided, because we're gonna need each other to take down the brawn tribe.

I want to be tight with every single one of the beauties because a swap is likely coming and I need them, and the biggest issue rn I see moving foreward is if brawn and brain align, so we must snatch the brains first. every one keeps talking about being stumped about the tomb and I just keep lying DKNDKDNDD but I am lowkey scared they know I’m lying
