yeeted a lot of drafts, a lot of asks. not all of them by any means, i've got quite a hoard, but i think it's enough for me to feel better, more clear of head. little further update under cut.

i've had a lot of thoughts recently, a lot of really bad confidence issues especially :') i just wanna say i appreciate everyone who still wants to write with me and continues to stick around, especially given i really haven't been here on this blog a lot as of late. i'm excited to come back and write more, silva's a big comfort muse of mine and one i've grown to really care about, especially in the last year or so. i'm probably going to only be active on silva and lysandre's blogs for a little while, pokemon blog wise, and probably even separate myself from my lysandre muse a bit more. not only have the migraines i get from writing him come back, but i've also just felt ... weird. i put a majority of my effort into my ocs, they have the majority of my brain whenever i get onto this site because they're the ones i really care about. yes, i love writing the canon muses i have, but the ones that really carry my motivation are my ocs. people putting interest in them is what makes me excited to write, and allows me the space to be able to even think about the canons.

recently i've just felt like people aren't even interested in writing with silva anymore. that i'm basically just putting her as a front so that people can write with my other muses. i don't think that's really true, but my brain's :') really stupid, and puts it at the forefront a ton of the time. it sucks and it kills my motivation to write everyone. i want to write here, i want to be happy writing here, but i log on and immediately feel like i can't really . do much . i look at my drafts and i fizzle.

i guess this is just means to say that i'm putting priority on silva when i fully come back. right now, it's split, but when i fully come back she will be my priority. she's the one i want to be writing the majority of the time. because frankly i'm getting frustrated because i feel like everything on this blog gets ignored but the second i post on lysandre, or even the multi it immediately gets attention. i understand she's not an easy muse to interact with; but that's why plotting exists, it's why my dms/discord is always open to people. i want to be able to write her with people but sometimes i just feel like i'm pulling teeth.

honestly i think i just. needed to get all this out. i'm tired and frankly i'm frustrated. i love this character, i love this rpc, but i'm at a stage where i'm about to implement a if you won't have me at my oc you can't have me as my canon because it just feels . like i'm being used for my other characters.

anway, idk. i've been brewing on this for a while; i hope it doesn't come off as demanding or rude jfiosdjfois i'm just tired, and i'm tired of feeling like i'm constantly doing something wrong, especially on a site where i REALLY shouldn't be stressing over when i'm doing things like college and all that. anyway. that's it. thank you for reading this, it means a lot if you did. i hope this makes sense.

I think I'm going to start doing the same thing here that I'm doing on my other blog, and start focusing more on being more comic book-inclined or at least a lot more mixed rather than focusing on the mcu.

It's not that I like the mcu, but I feel like it limits me and Logan a lot, and forces me to be stuck with some stuff that I don't really like. There are a lot more things to explore using the comic book world, a lot more characters to use and things like that so… yeah. It’s a change I’d like to make. Some differences I’d be implementing in my replies/threads right away would be:

Tony's alive.

The avengers are still a thing ( it could be the mcu team with the original six and some others or the current one from the comics that i really like )

The x-men/fantastic four/all the other heroes exist, and Logan knows ( at least by reputation ) all of them.

Logan grew up alongside the Avengers and is friends with other young heroes/other children of the Avengers ( say Frank & Valeria Richards, Katie Barton, Gerry Drew, Mayday Parker & some ocs too bc why not. Also Riri, Harley, Kate, Cassie, Billy & Tommy & more ! )

SHIELD still exists too

And some other things that i’ll be implementing with time ( bc I can't remember everything right now ).

I’ll still be exploring the mcu timeline and some points that i find interesting too but it’s just not gonna be set in stone you know ? If we write together and you prefer to strictly follow the mcu timeline that's okay, you can let me know and we're doing this. Hi i just wanted to pop in to enumerate of the 74 custom items i went thru and tried my best to ascertain the overall situation with custom clothing.

13.% custom owners have Quit/ Abandoned the account for a good while +1 Banned owner in this percentage of 'null owners'

any sales or auction of these items is no longer reflective of the owner bc they are 2nd hand market.

22.% sell for 10kp-399kp (most 300kp or less)

07.% sell for 399-999

17.% sell for a million++

++ - if someone trades for chests, chests are reliably mills+ so those owners are in this percentage by my count, and for reference just to highlight a spider georg of owners h3ll has over a 5th of the ++ category themselves.

41.% are private *

For private there were many motivations,  it's for their OC, not enough energy to dist

free quests/seasonal events as to not charge

personal use for personal reasons, which closely mirrors the original function and intent of customs-

This leads me to believe it is the manual communication nature of custom ownership that leads to this great gap in how things are done and user exp overall.  I think a market of some kind would help a lot, both is user exp improvement and moderation bc i think that will come with an automated market.

The secret custom economy is not real, and even most other custom owner's aren't welcome in  that "clique" bubble other players feel, bc the reality is that most custom owners don't know each other, never talk, had to hype themselves up to get their c4c trade turned down bc that user isn't interested in fem/masc items ect.  and the "clique" is really like, 6 players that looked around and realized no one invented the ceiling yet so they are gonna take it to the moon ASAP

Also vu3h, a custom owner did implement a price structure where so far they ask that custom owners pay them what they charge others, and instead M4hogi took advantage of the free distribution event.  Even tho M4hogi sells their sphinx lion for a mill a pop, noticed ig there were no rules against it.  Idk, what you described is basically there and those same few players are always gonna push the envelope/press their advantage.....

1. When did raph find out he was trans? Pretty early in life, so much that Mikey and Leo don't remember ever calling Raph a sister. He still uses his birth name, Aka (Red in japanese), and chose Raphael when he was around 9 with his siblings.

April is a childhood friend of the turts like in Rise, but I'm still planning how they met. Casey is more undercooked than April, cuz I want to do some Jonatello like in TMNT12 but I LOVE Rise Cassandra. I'll probally split Casey in a pair of siblings. I plan to make 'em latino because yes, love latinoamerica 'till I die.

Splinter already has some good backstory thought out for him, but I crave to redesign him. I tried drawing him twice, but he looks too much like a mix of Lou Jitsu and 12!Splinter and I wanted to give him a more,, monstruos look? I don't know if that's the right term, but I'm looking for a bigger "rattier" mutant look for him. He's a very affectionate and autistic dad that loves his turtle children very much.

4. Is there any sort of plot you have 👀? Yes I have! :] I'm kinda bad at writing and explaining my ideas, but I can try to give a tiny sumary- Splinter is the reincarnated soul of Hamato Yoshi mixed with one of his decents, that was being kept in a lab for some good years having her DNA used to make tests. He "possesed" his current body while the original soul basically died in the process of getting mutated after the lab where she was being kept exploded. Thanks to various injuries he remembers little to nothing about none of his lives besides fighting and few other stuff. He almost completely forgot how to speak english and spent good years only speaking japanese with the turtles, that until they met April. In the current time (?) they're in, he can remember his former names and has memory lapses here and there.

The turtles and Splints will have family mystics abilities like in Rise, but I'm still thinking of how to implement it without being a straight up copy Shreder is still in the corner not being thought about, just like Draxum, Karai, Big Mama, Usagi, the Mutanimals, etc. Not very sure if I'm going to use all of them too-

As for mystical weapons, wich is a concept i LOVE, the only explanation I have for how this kids got them is: They stole it.

Okay, but like. Is it bad that I'm kinda glad you ended up not going through with the book and instead put them into your game?? Because man. Their original fate is so fucking sad, it genuinely has full potential to make me bawl my eyes out if I think too much about it. Granted, I am a very emotional idiot, but still!! I really want Killian and Wolf to be happy, I ended up getting attached to them pretty much immediately lol. I love the "pining but too proud to admit it" trope and they seem like such interesting characters to learn about... Actually, all of your ocs do! to make matters worse for you, killian originally died in wolfs arms. i had a scene in mind for the originally planned novel where it would be the first time killian actually tried in a mission with wolf, after secretly picking up on all the old man rambles wolf had given him over the years working together. and the first time he tried to implement his superiors teachings, killian dies for it. literally being held by wolf, a small smile on killians face with a final thanks old man or something without ever gaining the courage to confess. wolf never stops blaming himself.

wolf would eventually return back to work after being forced to take time off (which he hated by the way, being alone with his thoughts). he would never quite get over his first love, and would go on to throw himself even harder into his line of work, but he'd get a little more dangerous with it. a bit of killian rubbing off on him. something about wanting to meet him again, maybe by then he'd have the courage to hold him a bit more tenderly, and a little less bloody.

or something like that anyway, idk, i started writing a new novel that interested me more (that's still in progress lol)

favorite fic you wrote this year

Unfortunately, I didn't really write and post anything new this year. I had an epiphany at the beginning of summer that I didn't like how The Paradox in the Prophecy was turning out, so I went back to the very beginning to revise things. I've only accomplished this for two of four fics so far. My favorite would have to be Etro's Blessing: Andromeda. Easily most improved fic after revisions. I'm happiest with how that turned out.

favorite character to write about this year

Honestly, I've been unhappy with how all of my FFXV fics were turning out. I've pulled most of them down. @groovytimetravelflower has helped me a lot in reworking my newer OC, Harlow, and her story. I finished writing her backstory last weekend, which will be implemented into the actual story when I get around to it. Most of my writing for Harlow is still in the planning stages.

Harlow is my most improved character. I've been writing Andromeda's story for five/six years now, and at times she's really intense or pathetic and I get tired of it. Harlow's a nice break. She has problems too, but hers are more realistic.

favorite writing song/artist/album for the year

I've calmed down a little bit on it now, but I'd have to say In This Moment's albums Ritual and Mother became very influential on The Paradox and the Prophecy. I've warmed up to their Blood album as well, although there's one track where the devil breaks up with the singer and she just sobs for three minutes. There's a line between being experimental and being obnoxious. I do have to mention the album for the song Comache. It's brutal and chaotic and maddening, and it fits a few violent scenes in the series. I don't really care for In This Moment's other stuff.

favorite fic you've read this year

I don't give myself a lot of time to read fics. I'm only reading a couple at any time. I learned this year that I have to be really careful and selective about the fics I read.

I love @groovytimetravelflower's Not Just a Feeling on AO3. This is the first fic I've read that delves into the Imperial court and its customs. It's also fun to spot the references she makes to other FF games. Iedolas is not insane (well, maybe a little), so he's the cunning and brutal conqueror of his empire. Ardyn is much the same, but this time he has something to ground him. It puts him into an interesting dilemma.

I also have to mention Poor Wayfaring Stranger because every single chapter wrecks me. I wish I could write every sentence as well as the author does to hook readers. I know it's popular in the fandom, but I've only started reading it this month. I'm a little behind.

@undead-potatoes aaaaaa thanks so much for the ask!!! i don't love doing self reflection (i have a hard time in identifying things about myself and often rely on other people to Tell Me Who I Am) but i love talkin about my ocs so this ended up really big

ill pop the majority of this under the cut but here take an unfinished doodle of my first attempt at a fursona in this the year 2023 bc i finally had some insight into What That Might Be for me its a leafy sea dragon bc as a kid i loved dragons and also leafy sea dragons specifically and as an adult i love fish and plants and the colour green ok basics covered here we go

its a really tough one, especially since all my characters have huge parts of me in them (u point to one of my guys and there's a 99% chance they're queer and a 95% chance they're autistic), and the majority of my characters infect me with Their personalities and traits (speech mannerisms especially... i went about 3 years peppering the word gotcha into every other sentence bc of ollwyn. in terms of it being intentional, usually only one or two bits with each character. i try my best to give characters personality traits and interests that differ from my own, or at the very least mix and match bits and pieces.

sometimes i'll try and make characters that are so so different from me but then it backfires because it means that im far more likely to pick up that character's traits (i didn't swear at All in my whole life until i tried making a character outside my comfort zone who Did swear a lot and now fucking look at me). i also don't like doing my Research so going for interests that i don't know a lot about means i don't. know anything about them lmao.

i think it's impossible to have a character that isn't at least Somewhat like you, we draw from our own experiences and ways of seeing the world, after all. i know i put little pieces of myself into every character and it's hard to say if there's any One character that embodies me most.

almost none of my characters really look like me tho

all that being said i've narrowed down my entire list to three of note. all three are dnd or other ttrpg characters bc they're the ones that i find myself having to think most about in terms of how they Think and Feel in any given situation and over time would notice stuff about myself or about them that i didn't realise were related.

i think these days ollwyn wins out personality wise goofy, indignant, lonely, desperate for approval, and loud. they're stubborn and enthusiastic, needs to be centre of attention but doesn't want to take the lead. they don't have many friends but latch onto those they do make. i re-realised my rat dreams because of them. i made em a bard bc i was obsessed with music as an aesthetic.

i made em a half-elf because i didn't wanna be Too out there with character creation (back when i was a terrified lil new rp-er who hadn't touched dnd before and felt i hadn't Earned anything more interesting yet). then magic and stuff happened and they got all the over-the-top design elements i was too nervous to implement initially and even that feels representative of my Own growth in being more Out There with my aesthetics and personality (i.e. completely shutting off my social filter, not toning shit down so much anymore)

oh i know i said none of my characters really look like me but i almost never draw ollwyn with their mouth fully closed and i only realised like years later that it may have been just a mild lil projection of a habit. i got big front teeth and breathing issues and i find it uncomfortable to close my lips Most of the time lmao

my poor unfortunately named aasimar (it was 2018........ i promise...............) takes the cake when it comes to suffering the brunt of my neurodivergence and sensory issues, and represents a significant portion of the judgy parts of myself that i try not to let myself be. strong opinions, blunt, tone issues, big issues with food and touch. comes across as, and often is, very critical. the biggest difference between me and them is that they don't feel bad about those aspects of themself lol

where i spend every moment of my life either desperately concentrating on my wording so as not to come across as rude, or feeling shitty for coming across as blunt/aggressive in tone or phrasing (where 99% of the time i absolutely don't mean it that way im autistic pls im autistic if i wanna be able to get the Right words out the tone doesn't match and vice versa), corona just says what they want or what they think, and if people get offended, that's People's fault for not trying to make more of an effort to understand the way they talk.

sal is my Top Oc Of All Time and as such takes on a lot of random aspects of myself (skin picking, fidgeting, latent anxiety, All of the visual aesthetics i Wish i could pull off, my love of birds, my tendency to Mr Burns Posture my way through life. she's also very very australian), while also inflicting things on me lmao ive learned more about my gender from the years of playing her in her rp campaign than in the rest of my entire life. a lot of her experiences and dynamics with her friends and family reflect a lot of aspects of my own

i only want good things for her and constantly put her through fucking hell

anyway they're all So Much Weirder as people than I can really put on paper and in (relatively) different ways but i just know it all stems from the Who I Am of it all

Sometimes I try to give my ocs interests that aren't ones I'm into so they're more their own person rather than a self insert. Do any of your characters have interests in things you'd never really be super into?

So the short answer is: not exactly. For one thing, I'm a very curious person and I like to gather skills. There are very few things that I'd be genuinely uninterested in learning more about. And second, I absolutely get the idea of giving an OC an alternate interest so they'll be less like a self-insert, but I find for myself that introducing one of my own interests/passions can make the character more passionate and motivated, and therefore more lifelike. I don't include all of my interests, but I implement them in bits and pieces

That being said, I have two characters who are mechanics (AJ and Indigo), but I don't have much interest in mechanics past being able to fix up my own vehicle for the basic things when needed. I can change a tire and jump an engine, but it's not a major passion of mine.

I also have a couple characters who pickpocket (Quinn as her main shtick, Robin as a spare skill that Peter taught her), but my only interest in that would be just to say I know how to do it, not for any serious thing. I do know how to pick locks, though - I had a friend teach me how, again just to say that I know how.

There are definitely some pastimes that I don't have passion for, but those are pretty few and far between. I'm a hoarder of random skills, if I can learn how to do something I absolutely will.

Spent the last hour playing around with @speyerboot's Epithet Erased picrew, and oh boy did I have fun making my OC's look good for once. I'm so happy I could put my best three on the internet and pretend I won't feel my soul crushed as they are slowly torn apart by people with artistic talent!

It's me! Or at least the oc I themed this blog around, I don't really like to think of him as a self insert oc because I feel like that would hold him back. The leader of team Flashdark himself is simultaneously my dumbest and favorite OC just for all of the Saturday morning cartoon villain energy I poured into his tiny robot brain. He is most well known for implementing a strict minions first policy, which has both made working with team Flashdark a popular job and resulted in some of the most effective minions in the business.

Britney Dusk, formally known as the famous world champion boxer "Killer Queen", seen as a hero by many for defying seemingly endless bigotry by doing so. That only ended when police 'accidently' raided her home instead of a criminal that didn't even live in the same city as her, who mortally wounded her tho the point that she couldn't survive without most of her body being replaced with cybernetic augmentations- which disqualified her from future matches. Just to rub it in, the officers responsible were pardoned by the government, which was the last straw. If these were the 'heroes' that her country supported, she would become a villain. She now works as Gray's bodyguard, which naturally would spark some rumors, but nothing has come of it yet.

(well one thing has come of it: once a princess made fun of one of their minions for not having a nose, so she punched her nose off. Gray has held a crush on her ever since)

And finally, team Flashdark's second in command and head mechanic, Tech Stunbolt! A rouge force user and high level gadgeteer who has modified most of her equipment so that she can recharge and overcharge it with her own force lightning. She is also the only one Gray trusts with his upgrades outside of his own mother. She has an adopted daughter outside of work that seems to take after her in many ways, with the small exception of being much more interested in hero work. Tech intends to be supportive regardless.

Regarding Snaxter

i feel like making a somewhat important post. tbh this is sort of just me looking back on the entire au and remembering all story stuff with it that i feel like sharing and also wanting to answer question that nobody asked. sorry for any spelling issues, im pretty sleepy rn.

so i think its best to start this post off with just detailing what the story of snaxter was going to be through four different remakes of the drafts.

Original Story

original snaxter story was going to be a murder mystery arg blog where it was the readers job to figure out who killed filbo fiddlepie. scrapped due to me not being able to keep up the drawings for the blog. also because i couldn't think of a way to implement it correctly. this version also was why i made Zylrr because he was meant to be an antagonist. really disliked him when i first made him to a point i made an alt version of him for just normal bugsnax.

hell here's his first designs because im feeling nice today.

Second version of the story

was going to make it centered around a cult, scrapped due to lack of creativity. also when looking back on both the original and this version of the story there was a lot of ablest story telling that i was unaware of (going off of old chats with an ex bc those are the only source of info i still have on old snaxter)

i think this was also when i started adding other people's oc's. i don't remember that much tho.

Third version of the story

a deep dive into the mental state of kerleb and his entire family. pretty much just a therapy session with body horror much like the original story of bugsnax. scrapped because of said similarity.

also when i chose to make Eggabell somewhat of a mysterious character in the story as she would be just a voice from kerlebs phone for the most part.

Fourth and last version of the story

???? i don't know what was happening at this point, i was so focused on character design and world building that i completely forgot about the story.

i do remember that the ending did involve kerleb's actual dad being the heart of the island. that was honestly the only coherent part of the story.

so i also wanted to give some more context to what will actually be happening to Snaxter as a whole.

Snaxter au isn't dead, i know the post i made before made it seem like that but i was having a severely bad episode at the time.

at best the au is being held off for a bit until i get a better grasp at the whole story telling thing.

knowing how messy it was before i'd DEFINITELY need to redo everything about the lore.

sadly i would have to cut a lot of other people's characters from the story. mostly due to respect of boundaries and also because i want the story to not rely on other people's characters.

i won't work on the au that much, mainly because i'm knee deep in cult of the lamb and my own personal project.

i'm not going to have anyone else work on snaxter for personal reasons as well.

TL;DR for the last bit, Snaxter AU isn't dead, its just the leg and im floofty.

i know nobody likely cares about snaxter anymore but if it pleases those who were interested thats alright with me.

38. Would you ever write commissions?

oh, that would be so fucking fun.

i am perfectly fine with writing for passion, but if i were willing and able, i would absolutely write comissions. not even comissions (though, i will admit, it would be nice to spend hours of time and effort on something that would allow me to feed myself, haha.)

the only reason a balk at this is the same reason i balk at becoming an actual published author. i am very much a perfectionist, and that becomes even more apparent when i'm writing something for someone else.

i'm working on it (i swear, i am), but old habits die hard, and people-pleasing is one that is especially pervasive.

that being said, if i ever got to a point where i felt a little more confident about my writing abilities, and where i had more of an open schedule, i would absolutely write commissions.

i've actually already considered what that would look like-- i think i'd have different categories like how artists do, seperated by things like word count or type. it might be difficult to stick to something like that (especially since i am a very detail-oriented writer), but i can image having a category like 'character creation' (i love making characters/filling out those silly little sheets and forms. i used to have this huge, uber-detailed one that i'd fill out for all my ocs, haha).

i'd probably classify them in things like, 'drabbles' and 'character studies,' vs things like whole-ass oneshots. i can't see myself doing big, multi-chapter projects, just because i'm afraid i'd never be able to finish those, but smaller works with a few chapters, or maybe a series of oneshots might be possible.

i could see myself doing poetry as well-- i don't share a lot of the poetry i write, since it's usually just something for me, but i could think of some really fun ways to implement poetry into commisions, especially since it's a lot more of a 'stricter' medium.

for the time being, i don't see myself opening up commissions like this anytime soon, but like... if there's anybody who might be interested in that, maybe let me know? really it comes down to if anybody would want to commission me to write something for them, which i'm not sure there are many in the market for haha.

40. If someone were to make fanart of your work, what fic or scene would you hope to see?

since the only fic i really have to write for at the moment is 'it was futile,' that's probably all i have to work with.

honestly, i would love any and all fanart of my works. like, if anybody ever makes anything based off of/inspired by my work, no matter if you don't like it or think it's bad, hit me up, because that is so fucking flattering to me.

like, as somebody who relies on motivation as a currency, the fact that you could be so inspired by my work that you'd whip out a comic or animatic or whatever is just like '!!!'

it's right up there with long-ass comments, because you know somebody spent time creating something like that because they really, truly did enjoy what you made. the day i get fanart for something i've written is the day that i peak.

to answer the actual question, at the moment, i... don't have anything off the top of my head? sometimes you'll read something and be like, "oh, yeah. this moment-- this moment-- is gonna be drawn." but those are often later on in stories.

i can think of some future scenes that might inspire fanart (i've shared one in particular with you over discord that i am so fucking excited to write), but as it stands, nothing really immediately comes to mind. maybe something from one of my upcoming chapters, but nothing so far.

if i had the artistic ability to do so, one scene that i always thought would be cool is from the first chapter of my fic. (spoilers from this point on, if you hadn't guessed already).

it's where leo has just defeated the kraang beast and is laying beneath it, slowly realizing what just happened while droplets of blood rain down on his face. very angsty, i know, but i feel it's a very pivotal scene for the chapter-- a turning point of sorts-- with a lot of emotions going on beneath the surface. also the image just goes really hard in my brain, haha.

some other scenes might be from chapter... seven, i think? 'the rest of us.' it's the future raph chapter, where he basically just makes the decision to (finally) create the resistance. while i was writing it, i just couldn't get the image out of my head of f!raph's hulking silhouette, standing against the backdrop of the burning city.

something about it-- the fear and terror of the people fleeing the area, looking up to see f!raph push away some sort of debris and step out in a shower of sparks and embers-- i dunno. it just... embodies this ideal of hope that f!raph brings to the apocalypse. also just a cool visual to me.

i guess another one might be the scene where f!donnie switches their headphones. i poured a lot of my own experiences into that one, and how i wish people might have handled things like that with me in the past.

i imagine a comic, maybe just a few panels, with donnie pressing his broken headphones to his head, as the static and noise and everything just gets worse and worse around him. and it follows this progression of everything just getting worse, until suddenly he looks up and sees, y'know, f!donnie.

and then, wordlessly, he gives donnie the other pair of headphones, and then just steps back and lets him have his space. and just... the immediate relief as soon as donnie puts on the new pair of headphones.

i dunno. it's a little silly describing it, but the ideas behind the scene mean a lot to me. i wrote that chapter while i was feeling really overstimulated, and tried to base it off of what i felt might actually help me in that kind of situation. so i guess it's a bit of a personal scene, haha.

just... that idea of not having to justify why you need something, or even what you need, because there's somebody else there who knows exactly what you're going through, and just wants to help. i think it's something a lot of nd people might relate to (though, who knows? /lh)

41. Do you tend to reread fics, or are you a 'one-and-done- type of person?

do... do other people not reread fics? like, not even the really good ones? never?

ok, that's not fair. sometimes, some fics really are just meant to be enjoyed once. an ephemeral experience that's treasured more for the memory of the moment than returning to it. and that's fine, and good!

i'm also not somebody who rereads every fic. usually, especially when following along with a fic i really like, i'll go back and reread chapters while i wait for the next one to come out. then when i'm done, i like to go back and read the whole thing without any breaks, because it's a bit of a different experience.

i'll also often just return to a fic to reread certain scenes or moments that really got to me in my first read-around. there are some fics out there that i do consider good enough for me to revisit and reread in their entirety again and again, like a book.

however, like there are some fics that are best read only once, some fics are meant to be read again and again. details and foreshadowing you might not have noticed the first time will become apparent, and it can be fun looking back and finding all the little details and the 'trails of breadcrumbs,' as someone once described it to me.

HELLO i'm obsessed with your hospital dirk au i just had a brief stint in a ward so he's just like me <3 i had a question do the beta kids fit into this au at all? i know that dave is tangential to him but are any of the other betas at all important to the story

despite how much I love them, the beta kids don't really have a place in this au mostly because.... I am very picky about AUs. and I always need them to emulate canon as much as possible so it's always really hard for me to get into concepts where these characters actually grew up together or interacted with each other extensively because I think fundamental aspects of them are lost if they grow up in circumstances dissimilar to the ones they're shown in canon... e.g., dirk is who he is because he grew up entirely alone raising himself while dave is who he is because of the way bro raised him ALONE no camaraderie no irl friends or comrades just his freakish hyperaggressive guardian. vital aspects of their character are removed when you have them raised otherwise, I feel like? our childhoods shape us. so if they both grew up with bro they wouldn't be dirk and dave, they'd be, um...closer to ocs? not trying to be mean or anything. obviously this can be pulled off and there ARE exceptions...but just as a general rule this is how my brain functions and finds entertainment in aus.

sorry this answer got away from me. the point: no, they don't, at least not specifically... I kind of like to imagine dirk sequestered in a universe with only the alphaverse kids? like if the betas are there they're basically just their alpha selves. I guess? I mean... I realize I implemented Bro as a plot device which lends towards the idea of involving other beta characters as well... I'm open to ideas! but again, this really is something that's very dirk-centric just due to my undivided interest in him alone and how characters relate to him. i don't think I even intended for this to become "an au", the OG hospital dirk post was basically just me musing on how he would act in a mental hospital for idk personal fulfillment and then he kinda just became his own thing. I consider hospital dirk to be open source and so if you have ideas feel free to implement them. I love to see what you guys do!
