Thank you for the answer! I think another question I have is about the bands on the character's arms. Are they tattoos or something else?

Sure! So right off the bat - yes, they are tattoos. And they signify the highest rank an Ulven has achieved within any given pack. Here's what I have notes for, so far:

Greta and Stig both have one band on each arm, signifying they have both achieved Beta class. Beta is the standard "warrior class" of Ulven groups. Greta, however, is second-in-command of Blaidfästt's pack, so she outranks the Betas. She does have face tattoos, and I think this is a choice one can make once they rank as an Alpha (a position reserved for second-in-command and commanders, only), but I also think it isn't necessariy a signifier of that status (I think Stig's too full of himself to tattoo his face if he ever became an Alpha, for example).

Kjell has two bands on each arm (and a face tattoo), and this marks him as leader of the pack -- a commander. Or at least, it would if he was still with his old pack. Typically, Ulven family units tend to stay together, but since the Blaidfästt pack is made up of individuals who were previously separated from other packs for one reason or another, Kjell is technically a Beta, as Ragna and Greta held the Alpha ranks before he joined. It's very rare that a leader ever leaves a pack they are in (or at least... it's rare they leave it, alive). And yes -- I am keeping the story behind Kjell's leadership and what happened to his old pack, a well-guarded secret. :)

Kit and Ragna have no tattoos. Kit's lack of such things is easy to explain, as he is still a "rookie werewolf" having just joined the Blaidfästt pack. This makes him a Delta -- the "catch-all" term for warriors in-training or Ulven who do not come to earn Beta rank within a pack. Ragna, however, is a bit more interesting. She's an Alpha, and commander of Blaidfästt's pack, so she should have the same type of tattoos Kjell has. The reason she doesn't is because she's half-troll, and the dyes used in human tattooing wouldn't permeate her skin the same way. Do I think she still got the tattoos? Of course! But they probably faded out within a few months.

Excellent question, bud. I love it when people ask me things I have only touched on in the story and the Wiki. Helps me to think them through and this actually solidified a few ideas for me. :) Cheers to that.

Fire Emblem Siblings Week 2023- Lucina & Morgan (4/7)

When they arrive at the ruins in Northeastern Ferox, in search of Naga’s Tear, they aren’t expecting it to be full of Risen.

“I suppose we're just gonna have to earn this treasure the old-fashioned way,” 

Lucina sighs, recalling her father’s words. If only things were that simple.

Their group splits off into two different parts of the ruins. Her parents and a few of the Shepherds take to the west side of the ruins. Lucina, along with Owain, Gerome, Severa, Inigo, and Kjelle go along the east side.

Lucina and her group enter a large room, and on the other side, atop a flight of stairs, she sees a figure firing spells off at a Risen general. Their coat is all too similar to her mother’s, and when they shoot off a blast of wind, sending the Risen into the wall, their hood is blown off, revealing familiar short blue hair, brown eyes, and a triumphant smile.

Next to her, Severa gasps. “Is that-?!”

“Cover me!” Lucina shouts, and she fights her way through the group of Risen occupying the room, with her friends making sure she isn’t attacked from behind. 

She ends up only a few feet away from the bottom of the stairs, Falchion severing a Risen’s head from its body when she looks up frantically at the boy.

Nine, covered in leaves and dirt, trudging mud into the study, a worm wiggling in his hands. “I found a worm Luci! I- hey, why are you hiding behind Father?”

Thirteen, face smudged with soot, smelling of smoke and firewood. “Hey Luci, hypothetically speaking, how mad would you be if I accidentally set all the training dummies on fire?”

Fifteen, eyes sullen, a faraway look in his eyes, on their mother’s birthday. “Lucina do you think… is it possible she might be-”

“...They’re gone, Morgan.”

“Morgan!?”

At the shout of the name, Morgan turns his head to look at her, his face twisting into confusion when they lock eyes.

He looks just like how she remembers him.

A mix of emotions fills her. Relief, that he’s alive, then anger. Anger that he disappeared without a goodbye, that he never once let her know, in the years he was gone, that he was still alive.

Then the realization that he’s fighting off a Risen general by himself hits her.

Idiot!

“You-” She starts, but she’s cut off when the Risen General roars behind Morgan. Three more Risen stand in Lucina’s way, and she glances behind herself. Her friends have picked off the rest of the Risen, and they continue to make quick work of the remaining three.

She hears Morgan yell out two spells in succession, and a flash of lightning followed by an explosion reverberates throughout the chamber. She looks up in time to see Morgan thrown back by the explosion, and Lucina dashes forward, dropping Falchion as she rushes up the stairs. She manages to catch Morgan halfway, and they’re sent flying, tumbling down the staircase.

Her body aches from the fall, and she manages to catch her breath. Gerome helps her stand up, handing Falchion to her, which she takes.

“Is everyone okay?” Lucina asks, and they all answer varying degrees of ‘yes’. She wipes the blood on Falchion with her cape and sheathes the sword. “Morgan?” she reaches a hand out, and he stares at her, brow furrowed, before deciding to accept her hand, helping him onto his feet.

“I’m okay. Err… thanks,” he says awkwardly.

“Morgan, how did you get here?” she asks, “You disappeared and I thought-” I thought you were dead. She bites back the words. “Where have you been?”

“I-” Morgan hesitates, “Sorry I don’t- Who are you?”

Lucina stares at him in disbelief. “Morgan if this is your way of joking-”

“I’m sorry, I really don’t know who any of you are.” Morgan shakes his head. “I woke up… sprawled in a field, and wandered here. I can’t recall anything before that. The only memories I have are of my mother.”

Lucina feels her blood run cold. She wishes this was a cruel joke. Morgan had disappeared nearly half a year before Lucina and their friends had traveled to the past, making it almost three years since she’s last seen him.

But she knows Morgan. Knows that he wouldn’t play such a cruel joke on her and that his words and expressions are honest, not displaying a hint of malice or trickery.

What other choice does she have but to believe him?

“So you know who Robin is?”

“Yes, I know her! She’s my mother!” he smiles, and Lucina’s heart aches.

“Morgan- this may be hard to believe, but I need you to stay calm and listen to me.” there isn’t a delicate way for her to tell him when he seems to have amnesia, so she decides to be blunt. “I’m your older sister, Lucina, and our mother is Robin. Like me and our friends here, you come from the future.”

“...What?! But I... The future?!” he stares at her in bewilderment, “Is... Is that why I have no memory? But wait, I remember Mother. So why don't I remember you?” 

“I wish I knew the answer to that.” she says, “Do you remember our father, Chrom?”

“No, nothing like that.”

“Well… at least you remember Mother.” she sighs, “Maybe you’ll remember something when you meet her and Father. You should come with us till then. I don’t want you pulling another stunt like you just did with that Risen general.”

“Heh.” despite the strange circumstances, Morgan laughs easily. “Thank you, Lucina. Just lead the way.”

- I have to pair Chrom!Morgan with Kjelle because they both walk in on their girlfriends in the shower lol. Otherwise Morgan/Nah.

- Stahl/Sumia, RIP my hopes and dreams (I’ll pair her with either Frederick or m!Robin in game)

- Other m!Robin goodies include Olivia (yes, my very first m!Robin playthrough resulted in him becoming Lucina’s FIL lol), Cordelia, and Miriel (have you seen f!Morgan with Miriel’s hair color because you should, it’s gorgeous).

- Gaius/Cordelia, partly because of funny Revelation family tree shenanigans. Stahl is a good match too.

I still disagree on the part of banning individual characters for a ship poll (I'm not trying to be wanky, I've genuinely just seen people ship IkeSoren without even knowing who Ranulf is) but I also want to point out that the wording of the rules is just blatantly wrong; Lucina's potential siblings are Cynthia, Kjelle, Brady, Inigo, and Morgan, not "any male kid". She physically can't even be Gerome's sister, because Cherche isn't recruited until after baby Lucina's born.

I feel like you are just trying to argue with me, so far you are really the only person to be “mad” for this. which yes I know Chrom can’t get with certain female characters, trust me I’m not stupid.

I know people ship Lucina x Inigo but they could also be siblings if Chrom marries Olivia I believe. That’s why I put that there.

Okay okay okay I wanna hear all about that next gen thing bc that is crazy dude how did that even happen omg

OH YES alright! This is gonna be another full-on Mona-rants-moment so strap in bestie!

I don’t know exactly when I started thinking about a HTTYD next gen, but it must’ve been somewhere around 2014, after I had watched both movies almost right after each other. Gotta confess, before watching HTTYD1 on a vacation to Germany as a little 10-almost-11-year-old, I thought it was a horror movie. Oops. I thought the same about Shrek, but now I unapologetically adore both of them.

So as little kids, me and my twin brother (let the record state, he’s younger than me. By four minutes. It’s a real thing) were absolutely obsessed with HTTYD. So much, that we would roleplay as dragons and – wheeze – HiccStrid’s potential twin kids. Oh, yeah, we were deep into it. We were so deep. We played out adventures and pretended to fly on our pretend dragons, whom we named Fly Fly and Toe Toe and they were, you are allowed to laugh, the kids of Toothless and a Whispering Death. My brother’s favorite dragons were the Whispering Deaths, and we were great at biology. Nope.

After that whole shabang, we went to middle/high school, my brother grew past his Dragons-phase, I stayed right where I was cuz ofc I did, and after meeting some new friends who were just as much into HTTYD as I was (one of them was the friend who gave my the nickname Mona and helped me with Of Thrones and Heirs!), we kinda created a new next gen based of what we thought was cool lmao. I couldn’t find a lot of information on that on my laptop, since most of it was handwritten or only spoken to each other – and tbh, I’m not really feeling up to checking my chats about it with one of those friends cuz I’m not friends with them anymore. But that’s okay, we have a lot more information for what came next!

I developed the next gen a bit on my own, I remember, still with some influences from the friends I had created the last version with. And for this one I still got a lot of details, so let me grab them for ya.

In this next gen, HiccStrid had five kids. Yeah, they be being busy. Zephyr and Nuffink got added a bit later, after I had seen THW, before that they only had the oc children I created as a lil 14-year-old. They had, in order, Zephyr Stormfly (20 y.o.), Nuffink Toothless (18 y.o.), Alischa Valka (14 y.o., aka, the main character), Stoick Finn (13 y.o.) and Lunette Ansfrid (3 y.o.). Oh yeah, that’s a mouthful.

Next to HiccStrid, back then I also shipped Heather and Fishlegs. Not sure if I still do now, but back then they had the following kids; Helen Windshear (19 y.o., she was Zephyr’s best friend), Fay Heather (16 y.o.), Veena Astrid (16 y.o., she and her twin sister were created by my friend I think), Beril/Hugo Oswald (13 y.o., not sure which of the two names. All I know is that he was Stoick’s bestie).

To the more… complicated part, young me put some drama into this next gen by making a divorce plot. So what I thought was cool (and because I didn’t really like Snotlout back then. Very stupid, he’s the kingest of kings), was the idea that Snotlout and Ruffnut had a son right after THW after a one-night-stand (Thorvald Hookfang, 21 y.o., all I know is that he had a huge crush on Zephyr). After that, they tried to make things work, but they didn’t, and they did a divorce thing. After that, Ruff went with Eret and had twins, Audun Eret (19 y.o., he’s the guy I wrote down as the Gustav of the next gen lmao) and Hialti Ruffnut (19 y.o., I don’t think she had a very good life). Meanwhile, Snotlout had a daughter with Minden, Ylva (13 y.o., she had a crush on Stoick).

Tuffnut had two kids with some chick, Annika Macey (19 y.o., she and Nuffink were in love or something) and Kjell Lloyd (19 y.o., I don’t know shit about him).

For the rest, I only had kids for Dagur and Mala cuz oh yeah they were a thing. Don’t think I really shipped them, but they were fun to include. Their kids were Ingrid Heather (16 y.o., I literally don’t know anything about her), Oswald Dagur (5 y.o.) and Siri Mala (3 y.o., the first Siri! I don’t know anything about her).

So that was that next gen. Alischa was the main character, she later got a whole fledged out story involving Grimmel’s grandkid, Arcum (who she got a crush on ofc, I basically redid the whole “enemies to lovers” thing I loved doing in Of Thrones and Heirs), while trying to prove herself to her overprotective dad Hiccup, finding the Hidden World and the Night Lights in the process. She bonded with Toothless’ daughter, Safire, which would’ve been pretty cute.

That whole thing was pushed aside in favor of Siri in December 2019, unfortunately. While I did try to recreate the next gen several times (I am still figuring out what the actual fuck I wanna do with ships in the original cast and who would have kids and who wouldn’t. All I know is HiccStrid has Zephyr and Nuffink cuz that’s canon and Tuffnut is aroace and the cool uncle. For the rest… man, I don’t know. I love FishLout, I love RuffLegs, I love the idea of Minden and Snotlout, I wanna see Snotlout with a daughter, etc etc. I just don’t know anything lmao), things never really stuck, as I was in the height of creating Siri’s story, and in addition, Niv’s story. Now I primarily wanna think about the next gen cuz I wanna give gussiri’s kids some friends pff

Like, at some point I tried to change up the entire next gen; I paired up Tuffnut and Heather (some weird idea from the friend I’m no longer friends with. I don’t know why), they had four whole kids (Dagny, Kyll, and Lloyd, who were triplets born in 1018, and Oswald Loki Chicken Sverd, yes, who was born in 1028). It was a weird move. I also cut down on Dagur and Mala’s kids, giving them only a daughter, named Hedvig, born in 1022. Zephyr (1018) and Nuffink (1021) still existed, but they no longer had any siblings. Lloyd and Zephyr were in love and it was very cute, and Hedvig and Nuffink had a thing going on.

Next to that, I removed the whole thing with Snotlout, Ruff, Eret and Minden, now Snotlout and Minden only had twins (Vidar and Ylva, born in 1021, Vidar wanted to become a wingmaiden). Eret and Ruff had a son named Sol (1023), which is very weird now, considering one of my best friends is named Sol lmao. Fishlegs had a son from a one-night-stand (Kjott, 1019), and the only reason for that is because the friend I’m no longer friends with didn’t like Fishlegs for his “disgusting” relationship with Meatlug. Glad I’m finally allowing to love this precious boy instead of being forced to go along with their opinions.

At this point, Sunniva and Helene didn’t exist as GusSiri kids, rather being replaced by a daughter named Funnet (1025) and a son named Agnarr (1028, Aggie and Oswald had a cute thing together). Niv did exist! I created him and he never changed, he’s just too much of a baby boy for that.

So yeah, that’s how it all shifted and turned over the years! I hope I can point my vision on trying to point down some good characters to be- WAIT A FUCKING SECOND

"Hey, Ivar" it came from a boat, Ivar had just arrived at the port, he wanted to watch the ships go. His father wanted to travel to new countries again, He want to Wish him Good Luck. But now he searched the boats with his blue eyes. He had recognized his brother Sigurd's voice, but could not find him. "Here you blind cripple," Sigurd called, jumping off a small boat near the jetty. Ivar grimaced briefly when he heard the insult, but he vowed not to react to it today. He crawled over to his brother, leaned against the boat and tapped the wood. "Nice boat, where are you going?" he asked, looking at the other three boys, who were loading the boat and getting it ready. "We want to go fishing, mother said we should all learn it" - "Ah, poor Sigurd, then you can't play your instrument at all and what are women supposed to do, without your music, which sounds like you would a cat peel off the fur.”

Ivar grinned when he saw that he had hit his brother, with his words, he didn't want to do it today, yes, but he couldn't help it either, after all Sigurd had started it. Sigurd came up to him and grabbed him by the collar and pulled him closer, Ivar was pulled well away from the boat, his greaves digging slightly into the wet sand. But Ivar just laughed in his brother's face. "You'll lose your laughter, little brother," Sigurd said through clenched teeth and looked briefly at the boat before his eyes met Ivar's again. "Do you want to come with me?", he asked, happily played and let him go. Ivar knew that Sigurd was only nice to him, when he was up to something, but being on a boat, even if it was just a small fishing boat, filled him with curiosity. "You want to take me with you?" - "Of course, you're my little brother" - "That's a trick" - "Where are you thinking Ivar?" asked Sigurd and threw a fishing net into the boat. He came up to Ivar and squatted down in front of him, "Come on, or are you scared?" - "I'm not scared" Ivar said and tried as best he could to hide his fear of the water.

He was always afraid of falling in the water, he would sink like a stone, and he knew it. Sigurd grinned as Ivar averted his gaze from the gentle swell of the water and looked at him again. "Come on, I'm with you and nothing will happen to you." That's what scared Ivar, he wasn't afraid of his brother, but he also knew that Sigurd would embarrass him wherever he could. "Or are you not a real man? Can't even sit on a boat? Let alone lie with a woman and...." - "Shut up, that's a lie..." Ivar screamed, his blue eyes blazing with anger and when he looked around briefly, he noticed that many eyes were on him. Sigurd's friends just laughed and Sigurd raised his hands, "Then prove it to me, come with me." Ivar looked around again for a moment, but everyone continued on their way, nobody seemed to be surprised about the two brothers anymore.

Ivar took a deep breath, he didn't want to, he was too scared, but he couldn't let it sit on him either. "What are we waiting for then?", he said and saw the smug grin on Sigurd's face, who now looked at his friends "Then, bring him in, my friends" he said and pointed to Ivar "I can do it alone" he said proudly, crawled to the boat and heaved himself over, he landed roughly and not really gracefully in the boat, and he got quite a bit of laughter from the other boys too. But Sigurd, Sigurd, just looked at him with a look that Ivar couldn't place. "This is Kjell, Hamar and Ole, maybe you know the three, yes," he said and picked up a fishing net and wrapped it up. Two of the boys Ivar didn't know got out and pushed the small boat onto the water. The boat rocked as it hit the water, and the two boys jumped in.

Ivar no longer paid any attention to his brother, he unconsciously clung to the wood and looked at the water crashing against the boat. "Maybe we'll catch a big fish today" - "Yes, a stinky one" the boys started talking and laughing, but Ivar was deep in his thoughts. "You are not like all Ivar, you are better" - "But I also want to explore new lands one day, with my own ships" - "You can Ivar, but remember that you will never swim, you can't learn either, you need your legs for that" His mother's face appeared on the surface of the water for a brief moment "You'll do something much bigger for that, my son" - "And what's it, mom?" - "I'll tell you, when you are bigger my little darling and now go to sleep”, the image of Aslaug disappeared, and he was startled from his thoughts, when the boat started to sway wildly and the water splashed on his face.

Ivar saw to his brother, who was standing on one side of the boat and one of his friends on the other, they were jumping up and down and rocking the boat on purpose, while looking at him and laughing nastily. "What are you doing, brother," he yelled, and now his body went into total spasm as he tried to hold on to the wood. Some water spilled over and soaked his clothes. "What is Ivar? we're just kidding, nothing can happen" Sigurd laughed and yelled at the same time. Ivar couldn't look up anymore, he only looked at his knees and hoped that it would soon be over. "Look Ivar, how far out we are, there is nobody here, nobody who can help you." Ivar took a deep breath and tried to pull himself together, not to give in to fear. "No Aslaug, no Floki, no Ubba, nobody, just me and my friends, look Ivar look."

Ivar became nauseous, his face turned pale, but he looked at his brother, with an angry look. "Let that be" he said out of breath. Sigurd approached him, but his place was taken by Hamer. "What's the matter Ivar, are you scared after all? Are you afraid of the water and that as a Viking?” Sigurd laughed and looked at his friends, Ivar gritted his teeth and now grabbed Sigurd by the collar. Both started fighting in the boat. Ivar lay on top of his brother and kept hitting him, even when blood came out of his nose, he didn't stop. But Sigurd hit too, and Ivars eyebrow split open. Ivar's blood spattered onto Sigurd's face and mixed with his. Ivar saw it very clearly, and for a moment the brothers just looked at each other. A moment of silence and as Ivar closed his eyes, he felt Sigurd pick him up and throw him overboard, the cold water enveloping him and when he opened his eyes he saw the blurred faces above him. Sigurd was standing up there on the boat, his face cold as ice, blood covering his face. The others were leaning forward and laughing as they watched as Ivar desperately tried to get to the surface of the water. But he didn't succeed, his legs were stiff and pulled him down more and more.

The air was getting tight, he put his hands around his throat and tried as best, not to breathe in. For a brief moment he saw his brothers Ubba and Hvitserk, his mother Aslaug and his father. But there were those wonderful moments, with Floki, the tree, which the stairs snaked around, or on the wing, before his vision went black, he saw the blade of grass, with a kink and no roots. He Tried to breath in and water fills His Lungs. Ivar woke up again as a deep breath drew water from his lungs and he spat it out on the boat beside him. His brother was sitting next to him, his clothes were wet. But he didn't look relieved. "Look at that, now we really caught a sticky big fish," Hamar said, and everyone laughed, even Sigurd. "Let's go home, today we're not catching anything better, and I'm cold," nodded to his friends and they headed towards the Kattegat. "You saved me," Ivar said breathlessly, the wet clothes and the cold making him shiver. "Of course, mother would kill me if something happened to her darling." He looked briefly at his friends, then he came closer to Ivar. "But I've thought about it," he whispered in his ear, grinning evilly as he walked away and helped his friends.

Ivar tried to hide his angry face and pulled the hood over his head. He wrapped his wet coat around his body and hoped his feet would soon find solid ground again. From today, he will fear the water even more than before, he knew that. He just watched the water the whole trip, he didn't say anything, he didn't think anything. Ivar was just freezing, and his pale face was now also adorned with blue lips. This time, Sigurd and his friends stopped right at the jetty, and they jumped out of the boat, which made it rock again, causing Ivar to panic, but he didn't want to show anything and clawed his fingers around the wood again. When they tied the boat, they left, leaving Ivar on the boat. "Brother," Ivar shouted, raising his hands, "You made it into the boat, then you can make it out, on your own" he said, laughing, and walked away with his friends. Ivar looked after him angrily, suppressing the words he would have liked to shout out. I can do it, he thought and wanted to go to the other side of the boat, but when the boat started to sway even slightly, he was so panicked, that he couldn't move anymore.

He wrapped his cloak around himself again and looked at the house in front of him, it was evening and nobody was to be seen. The water lapped softly against the boat's timbers, driving him insane. But it also got him lost in his thoughts. "I don't trust my brother's, Floki" - "And maybe that's a good thing" - "What do you mean?" - "I've heard a lot of stories about betrayal, also between brothers" - "Yes, I have that too, but that's not what I mean" - "You think they would kill you?" - "No, not Ubba and not Hvitserk, I can't imagine that" - "And Sigurd?" - "I don't know, there's something in his eyes" - "Ivar, let me tell you something. You're only 8 years old, but it's important to be able to read people, it's true, it's not easy. And maybe you're not always right with your guess. There are people who want to harm you and would do anything for you to trust them. Always assume that even the person who loves you can cheat” - “What do you mean by that, Floki?” - “You will know one day, it will take time, and you will be cheated many times. But one day you will know it.”

The cold wind brushed Ivar's face and his whole body shook so badly, that he felt the boat shake. "Now I know it, now I know it," he said softly, and his blue eyes fixed on a black raven on the shore that was barely visible. "Now I know it" His gaze fell on a human shape slowly approaching the boat. It took a while before he recognized his brother Ubba. "Sigurd said you're probably still here. Shall I help you” Ubba said quietly and looked him up and down. "If you don't tell anyone" - "I won't." Ubba whispered and smiled sympathetically at him.

Asking Setskogen since she probably knows more than the other engines currently at the railway, How did the railway get preserved? In the sense of, who decided to preserve it, and if the job was hard.

"What makes you think I have bothered remembering the names of those humans. I was also locked away in a shed during that time, so how the heck would I know? Høland and I was only brought to Bingsfoss station once the line was re-built there. In the beginning it was just rebuilt between Bingsfoss and Fossum. Later it was extended to Sørumsand. If you want names or want to know anything about the railway history, you should ask Høland. He is the encyclopedia here. I don't give a damn as long as I get to do what I was built for: work!"

"Passing the question on to me, huh? Okay... It's actually a long story, which is best described in the book "Banen og bygda - Tertitten gjennom 100 år", it describes the drama with UHB being sued for "kidnapping" engines and a lot of stuff that also unfolded during the time the railway was getting preserved. So yes... the job was hard. There was a lot of resistance from those who wanted the railway dead and gone... but thankfully the railway enthusiasts that revived UHB won in the end. It was a joint effort, not ONE person who decided to preserved it. No specific people are named in the book, but among those who decided to lay down the work and preserve the line, rebuild what had been torn down were Preben T. Hysing, Alfhild Hovdan, Thorstein Diesen, Henry Danielsen, Reidar Stenbock, Halvor Andersen-Wingar, Olaf Wiegels, Carl Frederik Thorsager, Hans Petter Grøner, Gaute Narverud, Jørgen Seemann Berg, Magne Glomnes, Rolf Gillebo, Lars Liaaen, Ole Mjelva, Håvard Pedersen, Bjørn and Finn Halling, Per Ivar Michaelsen, Kjell H. Navestad, Roar Stenersen, Erik Borgersen, Per Gillebo, Eivind Robertsen, Arild Brenne, Einar Nielsen, Thor og Lars Omejer, Arne Magnus Waaler, Thor Mellin-Olsen, Fredrik Münster-Mohn, Per Tallaksen, Bjørn Næss, Stein Olav Hohle, Erik Werner Johanson and Leif Løhren. Setskogen and I had been locked in the shed at Skulerud as nobody wanted to buy us or had any interest in us, so we... were waiting to be scrapped. Luckily UHB was revived and reclaimed us. We were loaded on a trailer and taken to Sørumsand for repairs... What happened after that is rather chaotic, but UHB was sued for taking us out of the workshop... though they did win in court as they were the legal owners after all. I don't know the full story there, sorry. In the beginning they didn't have much money, so all labor had to be done by hand by volunteers... and the steam engines at the parallel Kongsvinger Line used to dump some of their coal by the tracks for us, but it had to be loaded into a shed by hand to be kept dry. A lot of backbreaking work so to say... Later we got the first diesel engine here to help us: Cumbersome. Which was a very efficient and hard worker... IF you could get him to start. But he sure did speed up the rebuilding of the line. In october 1964, I was fired up for the first time on the museum line after 4 years cold in a shed... In june 1965 I pulled the very first test train and the year after we started our first season with museum trains." Hamish: I declare, "Here is my ultimatum. You will not try to harm any humanoid creature by action or inaction, or you will suffer my penalty. You will also release the girl. You know what I am; you know I'm good for it."

Tati: *sighs*

DM: At this point the lord shows up. He looks like he hasn't been sleeping any better than the maid, and is very relieved you're here. "Have you come about the bounty poster?"

Andy (playing Una): "Er-"

DM: The girl screams, "Bounty poster? Father, what have you done?"

M (playing Kjell): "...Yep."

Hamish: I ignore them all and focus my will on the devil.

DM: It considers.

Andy: Trying to find a loophole.

Hamish: I was specific. If it begins an attempt to hurt someone - it should be stopped before it ever gets near them.

DM: Finally it says, "How about this? I will leave Wolffell and I will not harm any humanoids until I am a hundred miles from here."

Hamish: "No renegotiating. My deal or nothing." I want to make an Intimidate check. 32!

DM: You intimidate it very successfully. The 'dog' lays one of its skulls on the girl's lap and says, "You were a useful servant", then turns and leaps out of the window with a shattering of glass.

Hamish: Dammit!

What are their thoughts on marriage?

Kjell is pro-wedding. He is very much in favor of dressing up in a sleek, well fitting suit, partaking of free food and drink, and sitting around being catty and judging other people for their clothes/hair/dancing/drama/partners/whatever.

For a long time, it never really occured to him to imagine marriage might be an option for him, because he's a cliche gay 70s slut (affectionate and non-judgemental). He had his heart broken young and just kept it casual and gaurded after that.

When it gets serious with Vinzent he'll be EXTREMLELY pro-marriage. He can't wait to be the center of attention at a big beautiful party, lol. (And also he know how much it means to Vinzent, who has always been soft for a traditional happily ever after.)

What inspired you to create them?

Literally I just needed a cute tourist for a side character in fic and decided I wanted him to maybe be peak cliche Scandinavian so that he might stand out in a small town of dark-haired, well-tanned Italians. I picked the most boringly average name based on his approximate birth year. I got this guy. Readers fell in love with him, leaving me a little baffled. My friends got a little horny for him and that greatly influenced how he would grow up, lol.

Did you have trouble figuring out where they fit in their own story?

The world revolves around Kjell. He knows exactly where he fits.

NASA Spotlight: Astronaut Kjell Lindgren 

Kjell N. Lindgren was selected by NASA in 2009. Born in Taiwan while his family was stationed overseas, he spent most of his childhood abroad and returned to the U.S. to complete his education and earn a Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Colorado. He is board certified in emergency and aerospace medicine. After serving as the Deputy Crew Surgeon for Space Shuttle mission STS‐130 and Expedition 24, he was selected to join our astronaut corps. Dr. Lindgren flew on the International Space Station from July 2015 to December 2015 and logged 141 days in space. He participated in two spacewalks and in more than a hundred different scientific experiments. In his free time, Dr. Lindgren enjoys spending time with his family, running, reading, movies, photography and amateur astronomy.

He took some time from being a NASA astronaut to answer questions about his life and career! Enjoy: 

What is one thing you would take to space that would make life easier?

A real R2 unit, of course! Just kidding, but in the future…  Honestly though, life is pretty good on the International Space Station. While it is still a lot like camping (sleeping bags, no running water, rehydrated food) the space station team has really equipped us for success. As you all prepare for YOUR future spaceflight, I would say that the two most useful items I had with me on a daily basis were a pair of scissors and a spoon. The scissors were super useful for cutting plastic wrappers, tape, etc., and opening food packages (much more useful than a knife). And the spoon is the only utensil you need for eating – at least with the food system that we have right now.

Who helped get you to where you are?

Getting this opportunity, becoming an astronaut – that was a team effort for sure. I had so many people walking alongside me on this journey, helping me along the way. My parents set the bit early on – telling me that I could become whatever I wanted through hard work. They really gave me permission to dream big. Teachers and coaches, mentors, co-workers and friends all played a huge part in reaching this goal. Most of all, though, my wife, Kristi and my three kids have been an integral part of this adventure. I would not have this job, and I wouldn’t be successful in it without their love and daily support.

You and your crew mates were the first astronauts to harvest lettuce grown on orbit. How did it taste?

The lettuce tasted like…lettuce, which was a good thing, because if it hadn’t, then it meant we had made a huge mistake. It was so much fun to be a part of that experiment. The payoff, getting to eat fresh grown food on orbit was of course, a lot of fun. But just getting to take care of the lettuce plant, watch it grow in the sterile looking environment of the space station, getting to take care of this living thing on a daily basis, it was good for the soul.

How do you prepare for someone getting hurt or sick in space? 

We train at least two crew members on every expedition to be Crew Medical Officers, or CMOs. They spend about 40 – 50 hours learning how to use the medical equipment and procedures on the space station, so that they can essentially serve as an extension of the flight surgeon in mission control. We have equipment and medication to deal with most minor illnesses and injuries. But because we are in low earth orbit, we can evacuate an ill crew member back to Earth in the event of a severe medical issue. This option won’t be available as we push out further from Earth, so we’ll need more rigorous training and a more comprehensive medical system.

How many times did you apply to be an astronaut?

I was very fortunate and got selected on my first try. I have several friends in the office though, who applied 4 or 5 times before being selected. It is amazing to go through the selection process and to meet others who share your dream. Enjoy the experience and keep applying – it is worth it!

How can I improve my chances of being selected to become an astronaut?

I recommend continuing to do things that you enjoy, continue to build experience at work and maybe look for new opportunities in your job that will grow you in your career and grow you as a leader. But choose opportunities because YOU want to do them, not based on what you think NASA is looking for. There is no one path or experience that leads to becoming an astronaut. We have an amazing diversity of experience and background in the astronaut office.

What advice do you have for the newest astronauts?

Enjoy the journey! Spaceflight is amazing, but even as astronauts, most of us spend 95% of our career on the ground. Enjoy every part of the job, supporting missions as a Spacecraft Communicator (CapCom), verifying procedures for a repair or training for a spacewalk. It is amazing to be a part of the team that launches and supports humans living and working in space. It is an amazing thing.

Which is more exciting: spacewalking or skydiving?

Skydiving was pretty amazing. I got to do quite a bit of it as a member of the Air Force Academy parachute team. But there is nothing quite like doing a spacewalk. It is an indescribable experience, putting hundreds of hours of training to work, the physical and mental challenge of operating in that harsh environment. But the view outside the space station, of the Earth, the stars, the structure of the space station – it was a highlight of my time in space and something I will never forget.

What's the most interesting part about training with the Dragon capsule?

It has been awesome working with the NASA and SpaceX teams as we are preparing to launch in the Crew Dragon capsule. My favorite part of the experience has always been and continues to be the people. Safely sending humans to space and back is one of the most difficult things humanity has ever done. That challenge attracts the best and brightest people from across our country. Getting to work with those folks at NASA and at SpaceX, to experience their enthusiasm, dedication and ingenuity on a daily basis is a gift. It has also been a lot of fun seeing a different approach to human spaceflight. I’m very familiar with how NASA and the Russian Space Agency Roscosmos operate. It has been fun seeing a different perspective and approach.

Yes! This is my favorite photo of the Milky Way, with a lightning strike illuminating a solar array.
