Wiggy Wednesday🧠🪱 - A Robin (Buckley) Hood au
tagged by @just-my-latest-hyperfixation @shares-a-vest and @hotluncheddie Thanks guys!!! 💕🫂💝
continue-the-game tags at the bottom, you guys absolutely don't have to read this whole thing for it, it won't hurt my feelings cause this thing got long sgnxgnxnh
💚>> EDIT: @carolperkinsexgirlfriend expanded on the aro robin thing and its literal perfection!! <<💚
tbh the past few days ive felt like i was loosing my spark a bit (could be a medication thing now that i think about it) so the plans for today are to rewatch some really damn good motion pictures, feel some emotions probably, and go from there.
having said that, i was able to put together a fun little idea about Robin Stranger Things as Robin Hood, Steve and Little John, either Vickie or Chrissy as Maid Marian. Chrissy would fit the secretly badass princess type very well, thinking princess peach in the mario movie, while vickie would be slightyyy more tough girl princess, thinking fiona from the first shrek. I'm not like a huge fan of slapping character names into roles just because, so i think most antagonists would be of the robin-hood-world and some might get left out. Dustin and Erica would be there, possibly as merry men, or i also think itd be cool to mix another vaguely-medieval story that fits the kids group better, have it be something in the backstory or future or something like a story living in the edges of this one. Eddies also an easy fit as the minstrel and could be tied to chrissy's story too if you want
im not planning on writing anything for it, but the story ideas that are jumping out to me rn are mostly characters meeting/origin stories. Steve and Robin meet early on in her outcastery, Robin in jail for stealing and Steve also locked up close by either for something outrageously stupid or something definitely illegal but for the sake of his little brother and friends. They swap stories and then swap even more jokes and fun banter. Either Robin loops him in on her plan to break out, or Dustin and Erica come to break Steve out during her escape and they all team up. Maybe a little part where they visit Dustin and friends, let him know Steve's fine even tho him and Robin are fugitives, maybe Dustin tries to follow them but they have to send him back until he's old enough to move out, an emotional "we're not gone forever" talk, concluding with Robin and Steve heading off to camp in the woods and figure out what's next. maybe robin comes out here, maybe steve had confessed and whatnot similar to the show, maybe robin just needed to establish that she's not into him before they started adventuring just the two of them. Maybe she mentions her future plans, to stay firmly on the laws bad side, maybe to reunite with the lady she found at the edge of palace gardens, something that would make the road alongside her rougher than his already will be, and Steve chooses to join her anyway.
also a romantic subplot with Chrissy or Vickie.
if its chrissy, i think itd go similarly to the disney movie (relative to vickie's anyway), chrissy has her princessy life and through circumstance (maybe an archery contest, maybe they run into each other, probably a combination of run-ins) they meet and are into each other, maybe Robin crossdresses and after she's revealed to be a girl Chrissy's head over heels, maybe Chrissy runs away, maybe robin wins her favor, lots of fun princess tropes to play with.
with vickie, i keep leaning into the Fiona-style angle where she very much doesn't care to be in a royal setting, not rejecting femininity just spinning the princess archetype on its head. So maybe she's a runaway, maybe she rescued herself, or maybe she faked her death or something extreme, and she runs into robin (maybe robins disguised and she looks extra rougish, maybe vickie had only heard bad stories about her) and they fight. if vickie wins she notices in her victory robins actual personality, realizes shes not aggressive like expected and they talk, and if robin wins she does a mercy thing, maybe disarms her to get enough time to run off and vickies like 🤨mysterious🤨 or they spark up conversation. Maybe part of Robins group comes in either ready to defend her or diffuse the situation and their appearance soon splits the fight. lots and lots to play with. one way or another vickie tags along or joins the group, she and robin fall in love, yippee
aaaand third option: polyarmory, where chrissy joins the group first, they run into vickie second, and the three of them fall in love.
fourth option: aro robin (lol get it. cause. arrows.) who picks up princesses (plus steve too) like its her job and those princesses fall in love
r*nance (* for search because this isn't exactly abt them, NOT to be a dick about it) could work too ig but its not my jam so im not diving into that angle
i also love the idea of expanding robins relationship with any of the kids (Dustin and especially Erica, because scoops troop has solid character dynamic potential thats barely touched. Robin and Max too, and it'd make sense to bring in Lucas too with his ties to both Erica and Max)
if this gives anyone else brainworms and you want to write it, absolutely go for it, i know im definitely not going to sit down and write scenes or anything for it, and if you're comfortable tag me so i can read it!!

BOOM PART 2 OF MY LAVELLAN ALREADY BECAUSE I AM UNWELL
I took a lotta screenshots of her, but I don't have access to that computer rn, so take one of my old playthroughs of her before I changed her a little bit
Tumblr media
So, Lavellan basically already learned how to deal with people depending on her and looking to her for everything from being The First, so the Herald of Andraste gig is still incredibly stressful, but she's used to it
I think inherently, she's a very goofy and sarcastic person, but she has just molded herself into being very diplomatic, so that mask slowly comes off as she becomes friends with everyone
She's 25-26 at the beginning of the game
Her eyes glow green anytime she uses the mark, which I really think adds to Trespasser with the anchor freaking out so much and there just being points where her eyes are green for minutes at a time and fully green by the end before her arm gets cut off
She never had alcohol before the Inquisition so she gets drunk very fast
Whenever she is blackout drunk, she gets really good at building or fixing things. Like, she could build accessories to Bianca levels of good. But only when she's blackout drunk.
Once, when drunk, she said that running her fingers through Cullen's hair felt like petting a baby Halla's fur, something which no one has ever let her or Cullen live down
Varric is the first one to make Lavellan laugh, Sera is the first one to make her snort laugh
Immediately after becoming Inquisitor, Lavellan asks Josephine and Vivienne to teach her about The Game and Fereldan politics
Sera is the first person Lavellan tells about not believing in the Elven gods
Lavellan had a panic attack during Wicked Hearts and Wicked Minds
I like to think that, since my Lavellan is scared of fire, whenever she defeats her first dragon, Iron Bull takes her out drinking not only to celebrate defeating a dragon, but to facing a really big phobia of hers and coming out alive
I purposely have Morrigan be the one to drink from the Well of Sorrows because my Inky has enough religious trauma. Can you imagine having heavy religious guilt over never believing in your religion and then having a bunch of old dead priests from that religion in your head constantly?
Lavellan's best friends are probably Cassandra, Dorian, Cole, and Josephine (Sera and Solas are close seconds)
Cassandra because Lavellan had a big gay crush on her originally which led her to get to know Cassandra better and become very close to her, of course not in the way she originally wanted, but still. They bond out of duty to the people and raise each other up to think about their own happiness for once. Also trashy romance books.
She knows Dorian's gay from minute one and the fact that he's so unwaveringly himself really makes her admire him for being something she could never manage to be. In Dorian's personal quest, there's an option to say that Dorian was very brave for being himself and taking no shit and I really think my Lavellan means that. She hid who she was for so long and being friends with Dorian really helped her walls go down and build her self-confidence. Like, early in the game when you recruit Dorian, I like to think that with everyone else she's very nice and mild-mannered, but whenever she's around Dorian, her real personality comes out which I think confuses some of the companions at first on why she's so different with him, and some see it as them being 'together' but really they both just get each other and their struggles implicitly
(also I love the head canon that Cullen purposely plays chess with Dorian to see what his and the Inquisitor's relationship is, it's so funny to imagine)
With Lavellan being very "I need to put everyone above me and never complain", I think having Cole around would stress her out because he can feel all her hurt she tries so desperately to hide, but she learns that he just wants to help and she often joins him or helps him help others. She eventually gets comfortable enough around him to open up, but I do think she makes him promise to never make her forget anything. Then of course, since I always make Cole human, I like to think she starts playing a more active role in helping him help others since he can no longer make people forget him.
I feel like Josie and Lavellan would just vent to each other a lot. They both need to vent so much and they both have had obligations pushed on them since they were young. Josephine's side quest really pulls them together
And then of course there's Cullen and Solas. So, I romance Cullen every time. I just like him a lot. But I started thinking narratively, and now I flirt with Solas for a bit, then immediately end it after Skyhold and go full in with Cullen. The reason I do it is all very soap-opera-y
So, my thinking is that Lavellan is so conditioned to do whatever her clan wants of her. She needs their approval. Solas is a male Elven mage who she really likes and gets along well with. On the surface level, he is exactly who her clan would want her to pursue. Elven. Male. So, she convinces herself that because she enjoys his company, she must like him because that's who her clan would want her to be with. And he likes her, so, she goes along with it.
And then there's Cullen. A human templar. Just like the rogue templars who killed her lover. Cruel and malicious and evil. But he's not. He's awkward and sweet and yes he's headstrong, but he genuinely wants to reform the Templar order and he's trying to better himself. She tries so goddamn hard not to like him because liking him would be saying no to her clan and she can't. Liking him would be moving past her trauma and looking forward and thinking about herself and her wants and she can't. But she also can't help herself from spending time with him and laughing at his jokes and getting flustered when he laughs at hers.
But as time goes on she feels so bad for flirting with Solas when she doesn't feel that way about him but she HAS to feel that way about him, doesn't she? Because just like with the Elven gods, something must be wrong with her if she doesn't like Solas. So after they find Skyhold and she's in the Fade with Solas. She has to test it. She has to kiss him to see if her feelings are real. So she does. And he kisses back. And it's a good kiss. But it's not right. It doesn't feel right. Then Solas also apparently says this isn't right, so once she wakes up and goes back to talk to him, they agree to end it (She tells him later of course why she flirted with him and apologizes profusely for it, she feels horrible about it for the rest of time, but they stay good friends because they genuinely enjoy each other's company).
But with Solas gone, that means that nothing except her own insecurities are holding her back from being with Cullen. And she is shaking when she asks Cullen to go on a walk with her and she is TERRIFIED when she admits how much she likes him, but god, nothing will ever compare to how she feels after he tells her he likes her too and they kiss. And she feels so...free. She made a decision for herself that wasn't tied to her clan's wants for once. They were 100% completely her own. And she loves it. And she loves him.
Anyway, that got a little fanficy. Basically once the Inquisition ends and she's with Cullen, she is the happiest she's ever been because she doesn't have to deal with politics anymore. She definitely gets stressed introducing Cullen to her clan, but if they don't accept him, they don't accept her, and she learns to be fine with that.
Also she has four kids and a dog with him. One warrior, two rogues (one who specializes in making prosthetics), and one mage, thank you and good night!

the weird creel timelines- an initial post (if you’re wondering what all the timeline talk is about lately, read this)
Alright, so, I started this post a few weeks ago but didn’t finish it until now, and it was originally a reblog on this post from @bylerschmyler and basically this is where all the timeline stuff with the Creels that I’ve been talking about lately originated from (and what @henrysglock and I have been ranting about.)
This is not the full Creel timeline analysis, just the initial post, and because it’s fairly old at this point, there’s more I’ve come up with that adds to it. I’m currently working on putting together the full timeline analysis. But, for now, let’s get into that intial post:
So, part of this depends on whether or not you believe in the 8flix scripts (personally I think they’re completely real and that there’s firm evidence to back this up), but I still have the scripts in my email, so I went and took a look at the “Dear Billy,” script. And I found some weird things. And then I went and looked at the newspaper articles again- and I found even more weird things.
First of all, it’s weird that the Creels are said to be moving into the house in March of 1959- the exact same year and month that the Creel murders are said to have occurred in the show/in the newspaper, which makes it seem like they only lived there for a month.
Tumblr media
Second of all, in the script, Alice and Virginia are briefly swapped. We'll come back to this later. Victor puts his arm around “Alice,” rather than Virginia.
Tumblr media
As well, as mentioned earlier, the murders are listed as occurring on March 25th 1959, but as I mentioned in this post, that’s extremely different than what the Indianapolis Gazette says.
March 25th 1959 was a Wednesday. Meanwhile, in the Indianapolis Gazette, the Creel murders are said to have happened on Saturday, March 21st and the bodies were discovered on Sunday, March 22nd when Victor was found wandering along the side of the road and escorted back home by Hawkins Police officers.
So, the dates listed here are directly contradictory to some of the newspaper articles in the show, something I'm going to really dive into here in a bit.
I talked in another post about the fact that it’s extremely likely that the lab altered Victor’s memories- and now Victor’s “one month of peace,” comment is looking even more suspicious because according to the script, the Creels moved into the house in March of 1959, but then the murders, according to the script, occurred on March 25th 1959, and Victor was in prison in early April of 1959.
I think that Victor, as of 1986, might legitimately believe that they only lived there for a month. This would track with the lab having messed with his memories, and it would explain why SO many details that are in the newspapers (such as Victor calling an exorcist) are absent from his retelling. However, like I’m going to dig into, I also think that there’s timeline weirdness at play here, and I think that “timeline weirdness” and “Victor’s memories have been messed with can coexist, especially since (and this is going to make no sense rn but will later in this analysis), it Might imply that the “Dear Billy” script timeline and the Weekly Watcher timeline are the same timeline, but the Dear Billy timeline is warped by Victor’s messy memories. However, this is something I’m still not certain of, so take it with a grain of salt.
And regarding the newspapers vs the scripts, I know there’s been lots of talk of Henry’s age and Alice’s age, but what about Victor’s age?
The “Dear Billy,” script puts his age being 40 in 1959 and 67 in 1986.
Now, look at this newspaper clipping from the Indianapolis Gazette:
Tumblr media
Victor is listed as being 35 years old as of 1959.
Tumblr media
“The bodies of 3 persons have been found inside the home of a 35-year-old Town of Hawkins Roane County family man.”
This same paper also talks about Victor serving two tours in WW2.
Tumblr media
“A veteran from the second world war, Victor Creel served two tours of duty in Europe and returned home a hero.”
It’s also the same paper that talks about the Creels living in Hawkins for two years.
Tumblr media
"Here is the house in which the Creels lived for the last two years where-"
It’s ALSO  the SAME paper that mentions “Edward Creel,” and names Alice as Victor’s wife and Virginia as his daughter.
Tumblr media
“-authorities found the remains of Alice, Edward, and Virginia Creel- Victor Creel’s wife, son, and daughter.”
Virginia is also listed as one of the children earlier in the article, and there’s no Henry in this article, only Edward.
Tumblr media
"The mangled and eyeless bodies of the two young children- Virginia and Edward- laid deflated and bent on the floor of the foyer."
And this is ALSO the same paper that claims that Alice, Henry (named as Edward in this article, the name ‘Henry,’ does not appear in this article at ALL), AND Virginia were all found dead in the foyer- Virginia wasn’t at the table, according to this article.
Tumblr media
"Law enforcement officers searching Sunday Morning for signs of foul play found the bodies of Virginia Creel, Edward Creel, and Alice Creel strewn about the foyers of the house, six miles from downtown Hawkins."
However,  possibly contrary to the above, the same article lists only Henry/Edward and Virginia (who is listed as Victor's daughter) as being in the foyer, and makes no mention of where "Mrs Creel's" body was found, and instead, just talks about her body being butchered like a deer.
Tumblr media
“The eyeless, mutilated dead body of Ms Creel “butchered like you would clean a deer,” (???) to one law enforcement (???)”
So, let’s regroup- how many possible timelines do we have based on the show, the scripts, and the newspapers?  First, let's look at some key information/our sources.
Looking At Individual Sources
Tumblr media
The Indianapolis Gazette
According to the Indiapolis Gazette:
Victor was 35 in 1959. This would make him born in 1921.
The murders occured Saturday night on March 21st 1959
The Creels lived in Hawkins for two years/moved to Hawkins two years prior to 1959, putting their move-in date as 1957.
There is nobody named "Henry Creel" in this article. Only "Edward Creel."
No ages are listed for Alice, Henry/Edward, or Virginia.
Alice is listed as Victor's wife repeatedly, and Virginia is listed as his daughter repeatedly. Edward is listed as Victor's son. Henry does not exist.
Victor did two tours in Europe during the war and was a war hero. I'm not 100% sure how long a tour is, but doing a quick bit of research, a tour in WW2 seems to have been 365 days/a year, meaning that Victor was at war for 2 years. There is no return from war date listed for Victor, nor is it listed when he was at war, simply that he was at war for two years.
This newspaper is listed as being published on Thursday, March 26th, 1959.
Tumblr media
The Weekly Watcher
According to the Weekly Watcher:
Victor is listed as being 40 in 1959. This would make him born in 1919.
The Weekly Watcher makes no clear note of what date the murders happened on.
The Weekly Watcher makes no clear note of how long the Creels lived in Hawkins, and also does not make any clear note of when they moved to Hawkins. However, there's details such as the groundsperson and the gardener working at the Creel house that seem to indicate that they lived there for a fair while.
Henry is present in this article. There is no "Edward Creel" in this article.
Alice is listed as being 15 in 1959, Henry is listed as being 12 in 1959, and Virginia is listed as being 36 in 1959.
Virginia is listed as Victor's wife, and Henry and Alice are listed as Victor's two children.
There is no mention of how long Victor was in the war, nor is it mentioned when he was in the war nor is a return from war date mentioned for Victor.
This newspaper is listed as being published on March 26th, 1959.
Tumblr media
8flix Dear Billy Script
According to the Dear Billy script:
Victor is listed as being 40 in 1959 and 67 in 1986. This would make him born in 1919.
The murders occured on March 25th, 1959.
The Creels lived in Hawkins for under a month and moved into the house in March of 1959. Although there's an exact day for the murders, the exact day for the move-in is suspiciously absent.
Henry is present in the script. There is no "Edward Creel," in this script.
Alice is listed as being 15 in 1959, Henry is listed as being 12 in 1959, and Virginia is listed as being 36 in 1959.
Virginia is listed as Victor's wife and Henry and Alice are listed as Victor's two children. However, this is later contradicted when Alice is swapped for Virginia during scenes/lines during the moving in segment, but they are not swapped for the entire script.
Victor was in France in 1944 but had also been back from the war for 14 years as of 1959. This would put him as returning from the war in 1945. However, it does not mention how long Victor was at war.
This is a script and doesn't have a publication date like the newspapers do.
Tumblr media
Comparing Sources
So, what information can we pull from all this? Let's compare all of our sources and see
A.) what information do they have in common?
B.) what information is different?
C.) what information is missing entirely?
Let's start with A.)
Tumblr media

Tumblr media
Summarizing The Similarities and Differences And Doing A Category-By-Category Comparison
To summarize the similarties and differences between the sources and the missing info, let’s go category-by-category rather than source-by-source to make it clearer:
Tumblr media
Category 1: Victor’s Age and Birth Year
Indianapolis Gazette: As of 1959, Victor’s age is 35, making his birth year 1924.
Weekly Watcher: As of 1959, Victor’s Age is 40,  making his birth year 1919.
Dear Billy Script: As of 1959, Victor’s age is 40, making his birth year 1919.
TLDR: Victor’s age is the same between the Weekly Watcher and Dear Billy but confirmed to be different in the Gazette.
Tumblr media
Category 2: Date of the Creel Murders
Indianapolis Gazette: The date of the Creel murders is Saturday, March 21st, 1959.
Weekly Watcher: The date of the Creel murders is not listed, at least not from what’s visible in this article.
Dear Billy Script: The date of the Creel Murders is Wednesday, March 25th, 1959.
This isn’t technically the same between all of them, but it’s also not different between all of them because the Weekly Watcher is simply unknown, not confirmed as a separate third date.
TLDR: The date of the Creel Murders is different between the Indianapolis Gazette and Dear Billy script, and unconfirmed in the Weekly Watcher.
Tumblr media
Category 3: Creel Move-In Date
Indianapolis Gazette: The Creels moved to Hawkins in 1957, day and month unknown.
Weekly Watcher: The Creels’ move-in date is not listed, at least not from what’s visible in this article.
Dear Billy Script: The Creels moved to Hawkins in March of 1959. The exact day is not listed.
Just like the murder date, this isn’t the same between all of them, but it’s also not technically completely different between all of them because the Weekly Watcher’s date is simply unknown, not confirmed as a separate third date.  None of the sources give an exact move-in day, and only Dear Billy gives a move-in month.
TLDR: The Creels’ move-in date is different between the Indianapolis Gazette and the Dear Billy script, and unconfirmed in the Weekly Watcher.
Tumblr media
Category 4: How Long the Creels Lived in Hawkins
Indianapolis Gazette: The Creels lived in Hawkins for two years prior to 1959.
Weekly Watcher: The length of time that the Creels lived in Hawkins is not listed from what we can see in this article, however, information regarding the exorcism and the groundskeeper and gardener seems to imply that the Creels lived in Hawkins for at least some sizeable length of time.
Dear Billy Script: The Creels lived in Hawkins for under a month, moving to Hawkins in March of 1959 and the murders also occurring in March of 1959.
Just like the murder date and move-in date, this isn’t the same between all of them, but it’s also not technically completely different between all of them because the Weekly Watcher’s length of time is simply unknown, not confirmed as a separate third option.
TLDR: The length of time that the Creels lived in Hawkins is different between the Indianapolis Gazette and Dear Billy script, but unconfirmed in the Weekly Watcher.
Tumblr media
Category 5: Is Henry or Edward present
Indianapolis Gazette: Edward is mentioned. Henry is not mentioned.
Weekly Watcher: Henry is mentioned. Edward is not mentioned.
Dear Billy Script: Henry is mentioned. Edward is not mentioned.
TLDR: The presence of Henry is the same between the Weekly Watcher and the Dear Billy script. but confirmed to be different in the Indianapolis Gazette
Tumblr media
Category 6: Edward/Henry’s age and Virginia and Alice’s ages
Indianapolis Gazette: Henry’s age is not listed. Virginia’s age is not listed. Alice’s age is not listed.
Weekly Watcher: Henry is 12 as of 1959. Alice is 15 as of 1959. Virginia is 36 as of 1959.
Dear Billy Script: Henry is 12 as of 1959. Alice is 15 as of 1959. Virginia is 36 as of 1959.
This is the same between the Weekly Watcher and Dear Billy. However, because we don’t know the Weekly Watcher version of the Creels’ move-in date, specifically because we don’t know the year, we don’t know if the move-in date ages are different in the Weekly Watcher vs the Dear Billy script, as the Dear Billy script has Henry moving to Hawkins in 1959 and being 12 at the time, whereas the Indianapolis Gazette has the Creels and Edward moving to Hawkins in 1957 but lists no ages.  So, the ages as of 1959 are the same in the Weekly Watcher and Dear Billy, but the ages may not be the same for the move-in date.
TLDR: The ages of Henry, Virginia, and Alice are the same between the Weekly Watcher and Dear BIlly but unconfirmed in the Indianapolis Gazette. Edward’s age is never mentioned. Mom-Alice’s age is never mentioned. Sister-Virginia’s age is never mentioned.
Tumblr media
Category 7:  Who is Listed as Victor’s Wife vs Victor’s Daughter
Indianapolis Gazette: Alice is Victor’s wife and Virginia is Victor’s daughter.
Weekly Watcher: Alice is Victor’s daughter and Virginia is Victor’s wife.
Dear Billy Script: Alice is Victor’s daughter and Virginia is Victor’s wife.
TLDR: Victor’s wife and daughter are same between the Weekly Watcher and the Dear Billy script and confirmed to be different in the Indianapolis Gazette. HOWEVER, as mentioned earlier, the Dear Billy script also briefly swaps Virginia and Alice.
Tumblr media
Category 8: How Long Was Victor At War?
Indianapolis Gazette: Victor was at war for two tours, seemingly two years.
Weekly Watcher: The length of time that Victor was at war is not mentioned
Dear Billy Script: The length of time that Victor was at war is not mentioned.
TLDR: This is unconfirmed in the Weekly Watcher and the Dear Billy script.
Tumblr media
Category 9: When Was Victor At War?
Indianapolis Gazette: A date for Victor being at war is not outright confirmed AND Victor’s “I had been back from the war for 14 years” line is not present here (because it’s a newspaper), so, IF we apply that line here, he would’ve been at war in 1943 because in the Gazette timeline, the Creels moved to Hawkins in 1957, and 14 years prior to that would be 1943. However, because that line is not present in this source, we don’t know for sure if Victor had been home from the war for 14 years when moving to Hawkins in this timeline.
Weekly Watcher: There is no listed date for when Victor was at war.
Dear Billy Script: Victor was at war during 1944.
This is the same between the Indianapolis Gazette and the Weekly Watcher in the sense that neither has a confirmed date for when Victor was in the war, but the Gazette offers more insight than the Watcher does IF we apply info from other sources (Victor’s “14 years” line), because the Gazette gives us a move-in date whereas the Weekly Watcher does not.
However, both the Gazette and the Watcher technically don’t have confirmed dates for when Victor was in the war.
TLDR: When Victor was at war is unconfirmed in the Indianapolis Gazette and the Weekly Watcher and is confirmed in the Dear Billy script.
Tumblr media
Category 10: When Did Victor Return From War?
Indianapolis Gazette: When Victor returned from the war is much like “when was Victor at war” when it comes to this source, because  a date for Victor returning from war is not outright confirmed in the Gazette AND Victor’s “I had been back from the war for 14 years” line is not present here (because it’s a newspaper), so, IF we apply that line here, he would’ve returned from war in 1943 because in the Gazette timeline, the Creels moved to Hawkins in 1957, and 14 years prior to that would be 1943. However, because that line is not present in this source, we don’t know for sure if Victor had been home from the war for 14 years when moving to Hawkins in this timeline.
Weekly Watcher: There is no date for when Victor returned from the war.
Dear Billy Script: Victor seems to have returned from war in 1945, as in the script in 1959, he mentions being home from the war for 14 years.
This is the same between the Indianapolis Gazette and the Weekly Watcher in the sense that neither has a confirmed date for when Victor returned from the war war, but the Gazette offers more insight than the Watcher does IF we apply info from other sources (Victor’s “14 years” line), because the Gazette gives us a move-in date whereas the Weekly Watcher does not.
However, both the Gazette and the Watcher technically don’t have confirmed dates for when Victor returned from the war.
TLDR: When Victor returned from the war is unconfirmed in the Indianapolis Gazette and the Weekly Watcher but is confirmed in the Dear Billy script.

List of Current Possible Timelines
So, finally, here's a list of the initial possible timelines, based on what we know for certain from each source (again this is going to change and expand when I finish the main timeline analysis):
Tumblr media
1.) The Dear Billy Script Timeline
Victor was 40 in 1959 and 40 when they moved to Hawkins.
The Creels lived in Hawkins for a month and moved there in March of 1959.
The murders occurred on Wednesday March 25th, 1959.
Alice was 15 in 1959 and 15 when they moved to Hawkins.
Henry was 12 in 1959 and 12 when they moved to Hawkins.
Virginia was 36 in 1959 and 36 when they moved to Hawkins.
There is no mention of Edward.
Victor got home from the war in 1945.
Victor was in Normandy/at war in 1944.
We don’t know how long Victor was at war/how long he served.
Victor messed up in France/Normandy and made the mistake of bombing civillians.
Virginia is Victor’s wife and Alice is Victor’s daughter, although this briefly swaps for one scene in the script.
Alice, being 15 in 1959,  was born in 1944, a year before Victor even got home from the war. However, if Victor went to war in 1943, then Alice could’ve been conceived before he left, depending on when Victor went to war and what exact day Alice’s birthday was. However, in this source, we don’t know when Victor went to war.
Henry, being 12 in 1959, was born in 1947, two years after Victor got home from the war.
Tumblr media
2.) The Indianapolis Gazette Timeline
Victor was 35 in 1959
The Creels lived in Hawkins for two years and moved there in 1957.
The murders occurred on on Saturday, March 21st 1959.
We don’t know how old Alice was in 1959, nor how old she was when they moved to Hawkins because even though we know when they moved to Hawkins, we don’t know how old Alice was in 1959 in this source.
We don’t know how old Virginia was in 1959, nor how old she was when they moved to Hawkins because even though we know when they moved to Hawkins, we don’t know how old Virginia was in 1959 in this source.
We don’t know how old Henry/Edward was in 1959, nor how old he was when they moved to Hawkins because even though we know when they moved to Hawkins, we don’t know how old Henry/Edward was in 1959 in this source.
Henry is not mentioned at ALL in this source.
We don’t know when Victor got home from the war.
We don’t know when Victor was at war/if he was in Normandy.
Victor was at war for “two tours”/served two tours.
Victor, interestingly enough, is listed as returning home as a war hero in the Gazette, which almost seems like it may contradict his massive blunder (the farmhouse and burning baby) that’s in the Dear Billy script.
Virginia is Victor’s daughter and Alice is Victor’s wife
Because we don’t know when Edward and Daughter-Virginia/”Alice” were born, AND because we don’t know when Victor was at war or when he returned home, we can’t compare their birth years to when Victor was at war.
Tumblr media
3.) Weekly Watcher Timeline
Victor was 40 in 1959. We don’t know how old he was when they moved to Hawkins because we don’t know when they moved to Hawkins/how long they lived there.
We don’t know how long the Creels lived in Hawkins, nor do we know when they moved to Hawkins.
Alice was 15 in 1959, but we don’t know how old she was when they moved to Hawkins because we don’t know when they moved to Hawkins/how long they lived there.
Henry was 12 in 1959,  but we don’t know how old he was when they moved to Hawkins because we don’t know when they moved to Hawkins/how long they lived there.
Virginia was 36 in 1959, but we don’t know how old she was when they moved to Hawkins because we don’t know when they moved to Hawkins/how long they lived there.
Edward is not mentioned at all.
We don’t know when Victor got home from the war.
We don’t know when Victor was at war/if he was in Normandy.
We don’t know when Victor returned from war.
Victor is not listed as a war hero, but his blunder in Normandy with the farmhouse/burning baby is also not mentioned. In fact, from what we can see of this article, Victor’s time in the war is simply not mentioned at all (granted there are two intro paragraphs that are too blurry to read).
Virginia is Victor’s wife and Alice is Victor’s daughter.
We know that Alice would’ve been born in 1944 in this timeline (as she was 15 in 1959) and that Henry would’ve been born in 1947 (as he was 12 in 1959), but we can’t compare that to when Victor was at war because we don’t know when Victor was at war, how long he was at war, OR when he returned home.
Tumblr media
Normandy
This is where it ties into what bylerschmyler said in the post I linked in the very beginning, because if Victor came home from the war in 1943, how the hell was he in Normandy?
Like, Victor returning from the war in 1943 is reasonable enough on its own, as WW2 started in 1939, and so even when considering that Victor served “two tours,”/possibly two years in the war in the Indianapolis Gazette timeline, he could easily have returned home in 1943 if he went off to war in 1941.  But that doesn’t solve the Normandy problem, because a.) in the Dear Billy script, Victor’s time in Normandy is listed as 1944 and b.) that sort of conflict, as far as I can tell, wasn’t happening in Normandy with the USA in 1943.  But what if we take the idea of “Victor being at war in 1943,” and combine that with the fact that the Weekly Watcher makes no mention of Victor as a war hero, but also doesn’t mention his mistake in Normandy?  Almost like Victor wasn’t in Normandy at all, which solves the problem of Normandy and 1943.  However, it’s also worth keeping in mind that Victor’s time in the war, as far as I can tell, doesn’t seem to be mentioned in the Weekly Watcher at ALL.  So, what if there’s one timeline where Victor returned home disgraced (Dear Billy script), one where he was a war hero (Indianapolis Gazette), and one where he was never at war (Weekly Watcher)?  This would also track with the fact that the Indianapolis Gazette timeline doesn’t tell us when Victor was at war (just that he served two tours at some point)- meaning that he may not have been in Normandy in 1944, at all, meaning that his mistake with the farmhouse may not have happened, allowing him to return home a hero.  Which, that’s interesting to me, because Victor’s war trauma/mistake is implied to be something that Henry seemed rather upset about (assuming that Henry was even the one showing Victor the vision during the cradle scene, and assuming that the thing that made Victor Not a “good, normal person,” was his war mistake), so I wonder if it’s the sort of thing he’d try to erase by turning back time? By either making his father a hero or not making him go to war at all?
The Massacre at Hawkins Lab Script
Also, all of this gets even WEIRDER when we look at the “Massacre at Hawkins Lab,” script, which is NOT from 8flix and was released by ST production. It gets even weirder because there’s not a single date to be found when it comes to the Creel murders. At all. None.
There’s no move-in date.
Tumblr media
There’s no date for the murders.
Tumblr media
Nothing.
What the hell is going on here? IMO, this has Hawkins Lab and memory fuckery written all over it AND timeline fuckery most of all, especially since we still don’t know what Young Henry was doing with that clock.
And speaking of that clock scene- remember how I mentioned earlier that Alice and Virginia got swapped during part of the move-in scene in the Dear Billy script (and are also swapped in the Indianapolis Gazette article)? Well, they're not the only ones who got swapped in the script:
Tumblr media
"Young Victor" walks over to the grandfather clock in the script, despite the fact that we see Young Henry walk over to it in the show. If it was just this error,  I would dismiss it as an unintentional typo, but considering how Alice and Virginia swap places not only in the script, but also in the Indianapolis Gazette article, and how Henry isn't even present in that article, I'm not so sure about dismissing it as a simple error anymore.
Especially considering the theme of swapping places in ST with "Running Up That Hill," and also the fact that the scene of Henry staring at the clock has a really interesting shot setup. It's interesting because we never see through Nancy's eyes in this scene. They've put Nancy into this scene to give us an extra POV, and yet, we don't see through her eyes at all in this part. Was she even seeing Henry? Or was she seeing somebody else? Victor, perhaps?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don’t think it was particularly likely that she was actually seeing Victor, but it’s definitely suspicious to me that they’ve kept Nancy’s POV from us during the same scene where, in the script, Victor and Henry are swapped. We see Nancy herself in this scene, but we don’t see through her eyes. We do see through Young Henry’s eyes in this scene, but interestingly enough, we don’t see Nancy at all when we see through Young Henry’s eyes (which would make sense because she’s a ghost in these flashbacks, but also presents the idea of whether or not we’re seeing a different scene entirely when we look through Young Henry’s eyes.)  Like, look at the shot where the clock starts spinning- that’s technically not through Nancy’s eyes. That’s through Henry’s eyes. We don’t ever see the clock spinning in the same shot as Nancy.
Tumblr media
We don’t know if Nancy saw the clock spinning- so I’m not saying that Victor has powers and was spinning the clock, I’m saying that I wonder if the audience got to see the scene of Henry spinning the clock backwards, whereas Nancy was seeing something totally different (perhaps, Victor, wondering why the hell is his clock’s been turned backwards). Victor, who may have been angered that the “demon,” in his house was continuing to mess with his family by messing with the clock.
Admittedly, this last bit is more speculation than anything, but at the very least, the “Henry and Victor swapping places in the Massacre at Hawkins Lab script,” part of it is interesting considering that Alice and Virginia swapped places in the Dear Billy script, AND that Alice and Virginia swapped roles/places in the Indianapolis Gazette article.  And even though we have that Henry 1979 voiceover, it’s worth keeping in mind that the voiceover actually reinforces the idea that Nancy may be seeing something different- because the voiceover is happening in 1979 and Nancy isn’t hearing it, only the audience is, so it’s being used to manipulate the audience (likely manipulate them into believing that Nancy’s seeing what we’re seeing, despite the fact that the use of Nancy POV shots vs Nancy face shots contradicts that idea, like I talked about in this post and this post).  And there’s also the fact that there’s certain scenes and flashbacks that play during the Massacre at Hawkins Lab sequence that aren’t seeing by Nancy.  Scenes like this one (No Nancy visible And doesn’t seem to be through her eyes, And she was supposedly downstairs seeing Henry at the dinner table when this scene played):
Tumblr media
And scenes like this one, that are possibly flashbacks from Henry’s own mind/what would’ve been flashing through his mind in 1979 (this scene just shows up on screen when 1979 lab Henry is ranting about “they presented themselves as good, normal, people”:
Tumblr media
So, I wonder if some of the clock shots are the same, especially ones that are through Henry’s eyes- shots that Nancy didn’t see because they’re only being shown to the audience/possibly as part of Henry 1979 actual flashbacks that he would’ve been having in 1979 while monologuing.  And the Victor-Henry swap in the Massacre at Hawkins Lab script just generally haunts me because we also have a Alice-Virginia swap in the Indianapolis Gazette *and* in the Dear Billy script, and I’m wondering if Victor swapped with Henry, or if he swapped with Edward, and the script swap is a nod to Victor and Edward swapping places in their family dynamic like Alice and Virginia did in the Edward timeline.

Sorry everyone, I didn't mean to disappear. I started to get sick monday night and went down hill on my days off🤧. I'm getting better, I lost my voice on my days off and worried I had to call in on thursday, but luckily I gained my voice back. Though it was still cutting off a bit and very off. I still have shit in my throat and a runny nose, but getting better. While I've been sick, I've been mainly playing Sims 3, 4, and the Urbz. And whenever I had the energy to draw. I was mainly drawing nonsims stuff
I also decided that I'm not going to post art everyday, it wasn't a good idea when I kept making myself try to post every day when it can easily make me get an art block. I'm just going to post art whenever I'm ready to post it
(Warning, the rest of the post is just me rambling about my sims 4 gameplay)
I made a new character in the sims 4
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The dude makes money by using his culinary skills to make ingredients or actual meals and selling them at the park on those bargain tables. Don't have the time or patience to make dough for your homemade pizza? Well Al's got you covered, for just six bucks you can have enough dough to make two pizzas
I played around in this save for a whole sims week so far, and it's already starting out wild
Tumblr media
Al became good friends with Makoa Kealoha(I redesigned a few families in 4 so far. The Kealoha family was one of them) So he let them stay at his house for a few days. But when Al came back home from the club Makoa and Lilliana were scrappin in the living room💀💀
Tumblr media
LIKE WHAT??? You have your daughter Nani chilling in the next room like this is some normal shit😨😨. After that Al ended the stay early and made them leave, then immediately drank to forget that. I didn't make him do that he just did it automatically🍹🍹. Also made friends with a few other sims like Candy Behr
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I decided on making her mostly look like her original mysims self (I'm not done with Yuki yet, otherwise I would've shown her as well on this post. I will once I'm done) . Al is like an unofficial spin master member, he's friends with all of them. But currently he has to take a break from partying for a while because he accidentally knocked up a random girl at a party. She didn't want the baby, so he's a single dad rn with a baby boy
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's so cute, I love him🥹🥹💕💕✨✨!! His name is Kasey, and he's very sweet

Let's play a game of how much Lumian lore you can dump on me so I can compile a complete post and use it for world building for a Lumian character of mine (pls give me the knowledge I crave it)
Oh god. Ok you're on
I'll do my best 😵‍💫 if you're looking for anything else / more specific, lmk!
Keep in mind my bs can and will differ from everyone else because everyone is either normal about them or is also weird about them but this time with tails instead, and also in a fundamentally unique way from my shit. And I have a LOT.
So,
Some world setup, because it matters to me; KirinDave as a concept is like 3 characters - Kirin (Craftia), Quetzal (Earth), and Chimera (Twilight). There's other deific rulers of other places but they don't matter rn. Kirin is the god of the Heart, Chimera the Mind, and Quetzal the Form. The 3 have their own backstory but I'll skip it for now.
Quetz came in contact with their people, the humans, in early historic times they were completely terrified of them. Out of shame, Quetz invented different religions to interact with them in a way they could better understand, and chose forms that were more pleasing and comprehensible. Under these guises, these personas, Quetzal fell in love with several humans and they just kinda sired a bunch of demigod children as a result.
Kinda messed up but I'm choosing to cover it up and say the humans they loved knew what they were getting into when they agreed to have sex with a god, including the whole polyamory thing. For all intents and purposes everyone was cool with it except general society who took one look at these "horrific hybrid" half-human half-animalish demigod kids and freaked out, killing nearly half of them and their parents in the process.
This didn't happen like, all at once, just over time for a while until Quetz couldn't take it anymore and decided to relocate the remaining humans, their children, and a good chunk of people who were supportive and capable of running a society successfully, and had an arsenal of angels help relocate them to a planet so far away, Quetzal's Siblings couldn't detect them easily. They kept this planet so secret that they would've loved to take this secret to the ends of the universe and with their deaths if they could've, but you see...
In no time at all, this society came together and grew into one species; The Lumians.
Lumians did not retain their Origin story and have no idea where they came from. The Guardian Angels cleared their ancestor's minds of Earth, and they simply began anew, knowing only their relationships and skills. Lumians became a race of highly scientifically progressed people whose genetics are influenced by the "throw a dart at a board to see what animal you land on" genes of their demigod ancestors, and the naturally adaptive influence of being descended from the god of Life itself.
They were born and raised on a harsh planet with a huge sun and massive insectoid monsters, so they naturally thrived in caves and darker biomes, where they quickly evolved to glow. Soon, their bodies rapidly changed to include pointed ears with sharper hearing to better listen for specific bugs, sharper teeth to cleave through incredibly tough bug meat, stronger/bigger bodies and longer lifespans to survive with, and colored blood/glow for attraction reasons bc blood color is pretty meaningless to their society and it has little to no effect on their bodies or survival.
Lumians have a superiority complex to humans, and assume that they're the result of ancient Lumians who colonized Earth and "devolved". This is a point of contention in their society and anywhere else in space that Lumians interact with humans. Funny enough, despite being smart with technology and science and weaponry, Lumian society valued art and creativity so poorly that entertainment is virtually nonexistent here. They get their kicks by starting and joining wars across space, and partaking in what human culture they can capture from lightyears away.
Their buildings and cities are very sterile-looking, and what color they do intentionally use are organized in mathematical and artificial/generated ways. Idk how to explain it because I haven't looked for architecture that displays this, but think of pretentious billionaire houses. That's kinda what we're working with. Lumians also don't have a class system, so even a lowly outback-type reclusive farmer or woodsman with a small 2x2 home has access to the same rights, funding, and technology as everyone else.
Their planet, Lumina, has a large variety of biomes with jungles, swamps, deserts, temperate zones, rocky barrens, and so on. They only have one ocean, and it's about the size of South America, and in their southern hemisphere. Everywhere else are lakes, rivers, and an incredible amount of underground pocket water and plants that retain a lot of water (like "cut the root open and drink it like a straw" amounts). They do have some mammal-like creatures, but they are usually very tiny and serve as pets.
Some dogs came with their ancestors on the trip and they've also evolved! Due to the strange food they've fed on, they've gotten sleek coats, bigger and tougher teeth, pointy tongues, bigger/wider ears, and very unusual colors and eyes. I'll have to draw them later!
They have similar careers to us, but their society celebrates joining the armada, to an even bigger extent than the US. To them, it's THE job to have, the most noble position to take, you basically become a hero to your family and town. For all interns and purposes, they absolutely are a military state. The leader of the armada is Xephos's dad and he is basically a rockstar and democratically elected emperor of the planet. Matching that, their language is also monolith, but has distinct accents and dialects. I've written the alphabet somewhere on this blog in the past. They do have actual leaders of society that lead certain areas, very much like our countries do, but they all take a backseat to Xeph's father in the end. Everyone in general follows along with him in a similar fashion to how certain white people obsess over the royal British family.
Religion can be niche and taboo depending on the region, and magic is a marginal subculture in general. Lumians don't care a whole lot about bloodlines, lineages, family cultures, so on; everyone is motivated to become independent of themselves, and visiting family is socially accepted to be a rarity. Sometimes their bodies can have more animal-like features, like colored patterns, patches of floof, different shaped pupils or more "wild" irises, sharper nails, maybe even a tail who knows - but these physical differences are as rare as unique physical differences on Earth (i imagine white and black blood could even be possible if the Lumian were albino/melanistic). They have their own spaceships, news, radio, television, school systems, so on so forth. They just don't have a lot of variety in life and it kinda sucks. they suck lmao
Quetzal's secret is now as thinly veiled as tissue paper, thanks to the Lumians' exploration and interaction with Earth and Craftia. Humanoids are very distinctly localized to our solar system, and at least two of the deities are needed to create a living/sentient creature, so a humanoid race existing outside the solar system is definitely a huge cause for suspicion.
also Xeph's dad is planning a secret invasion of Earth and enslavement of humanity and he's overall a horrible person, but only in secret. to the public he's just the bee's fuckin knees.
I hope u like ;w; search my blog for other Lumian stuff, bc I've posted quite a bit about them! ALSO TAG ME IN ANY OCs.....I LIVE FOR THAT SHIT DUDE

Okay slightly more in depth thoughts on the first few hours of FFXVI.
The game starts off with a fight between two summons (or I guess they're called Eikonics? I'll probably still call them summons), and then into the middle of a big war going on, and THEN into Clive's childhood - which goes on for EXTREMELY long for a supposed flashback scene. It reminds me of Sea of Stars, with the sense that the devs had a few ideas of how they wanted to start things off and couldn't choose just one.
I'm torn on the fact that they let you read up about the world lore. On one hand, great! I was getting confused, I'm glad I can get more details, and it's clear they really fleshed out a lot of this world. On the other hand, though, doing so takes the pressure off of the game to interestingly and cohesively at least attempt to teach the player about it. In general, this game so far almost hits me more like someone wanted to make a movie or TV series, but squenix does video games so game it is!
Building off of that, there's so many cut scenes so far. I think I've been engaged in fight, like, ten times? For how many hours (probably 2-ish) I've been 'playing' this game, it's not a lot. Again, I realize I'm pretty early in, so I'm not making any kind of too big judgements yet, but I am, you know, noting these things.
Fighting so far is pretty good. I think I'm being a little critical of it rn bc I really liked FFVIIR's system. I'm start to begin getting the hang of the different range of attacks and combos, which lends more fun to it. I'm also hoping that when I get more people on my party, I'll have some more range to do more things.
And speaking of party members, hoping we get at least six (and hoping one is not Cid. Guy looks too pretty and also too similar to Clive). I need some characters with whimsy stat.
Other Random Notes:
-Damn, Clive hearing a screeching sound and then seeing a hooded figure amongst flames? He's got Cloud syndrome
-Initially thought that Clive was Ifrit (I'm assuming that's the other fire Eikonic) and while I'm not totally unconvinced yet, disappointed that rn they're making it seem like he's not ;-;
-I also thought at first, because of how the scene was framed, that the big beefy guy was the the person who became Shiva, and fuck I wish it was, that would have been so good
-I do like that the 'summons' work like summons seemed to in the original FFVII, I think that's neat

Ok, so, got an opinion here that's probably gonna do numbers in the negative direction quite quickly, but I gotta get it off my chest because I'm tired of it sizzling on the proverbial back burner like it's been for the last... what, several days? Couple weeks? Don't even remember anymore...
Anywho, it'll probably deteriorate in quality over time as I write this because it'll take a bit to do so even remotely coherently and it's already sometime past midnight, so here goes possibly everything.
*inhales*
I don't understand/hold with the whole "Takanuva is trans/ a trans allegory/symbol" thing. Don't get me wrong, the LGBTQ+ community needs as many heroes, icons, symbols, allegories, etc as they can get in this hostile world, especially the trans folks, and I'm all in on supporting the whole thing.
(Hell, I've kinda been trying to take various looks at myself for a while now, trying to figure myself out, and so far I'm pretty sure I'd prefer to be slightly on the more effeminate side of androgynous if I could, but I don't exactly have the time energy, funds, or general environment to go that route rn, or anytime soon.)
And yet, even with all that, drawing a connection between Takanuva and the trans crowd throws me for a loop, because it feels off somehow. The non-binary crowd? Sure, that works, because when you get down to it, the inhabitants of the MU are canonically physically non-gendered (by which I mean, they have no physical genetalia because they don't reproduce) and anything close to "sexual dimorphism" is pretty much cosmetic, aside from some programming bullshit from before Velika turned everyone from drones into people (and maybe a bit of his meddling was added in as well, who knows). Not to mention, Takua/Takanuva already has so much hung on him that it makes no sense to add more. Let me explain...
For starters, back at the very beginning, Takua was barely even a character at all, having instead started as the physical manifestation of YOU, the "Player" as you interacted with some of the original games. I'm not just talking about MNOG here, either, though yes he was vital to that. I'm talking about the GBA game(s) and the one or two PC games that came about before that. No, I don't remember the names of the games in question, mostly because I never got the chance to play them as a kid, and it's currently so late that it's early in the morning, I'm not looking that up rn. Anyway, he was a blank slate, full stop, with no plans for character development beyond those games. This was mostly because Bionicle was only intended to run for a year, at most, before Lego wrapped everything up with the final battle against Makuta, Mata Nui's awakening (which happened in '08/9), and the reuniting of the planets.
Of course, Bionicle itself fucking EXPLODED in popularity, (which no-onw expected back then), and he himself became a popular fan favorite character as time progressed, so amidst the rush to start milking the unexpected cash cow they had on their hands in every way possible, the dev team decided to play on everything previously known about Takua and made MNOG (as well as having him start to show up in other important media, like the books), where he kind of became a vessel for everyone out there who was "the weird kid" in their social group(s), or "the hyper/ADD/ADHD kid", etc. He wandered around everywhere, got into just about everything that could get him into trouble, and all that good stuff. (Of course, we later found out he did this a lot in Metru Nui too, and he got slightly brain-fried by the Vahki because he did it so much, but that didn't exist at that point, so...)
And Lego used him to tell the story that ANYONE could be the hero, and everyone's special, and the power of friendship etc. etc, all the usual moral stuff they crammed into kids' media back then. Not to mention the fact that the Matoran, while self-sufficient and stuff, were all basically stand-ins for kids, wandering about in large groups under the watchful gaze and protective power of the taller, bigger figure(s) in their lives (parents, teachers, older siblings, other adults, etc) while the Turaga we're wrinkly, wizened old mentor/mystic/grandparent types.
And so it was, through the Bohrok arcs, up until the Mask of Light was found and the Rahkshi showed up to wreck everyone's shit. Cue THAT entire arc that we know and love, and suddenly Takua is now Takanuva, the Legendary Toa of Light, etc, and he defeats Makuta and they discover Metru Nui and blah blah blah. (Btw, I'll start referring to Takua/Takanuva as an overall character as "TK/N" from here out, while also referring to his individual Matoran/Toa stages by their individual names.) And yet, let's back up a bit.
The entire MoL arc turns Takua from the "underdog" story we knew him as before into a literal "growing up" story, where he has to face responsibilities and consequences, having greatness thrust upon him (as per the old saying), and generally acting in tandem with these six people he's only every really seen as near godly-level beings before now, because he's basically one of them now too. Of course, there's obviously some major impostor syndrome going on, because how the hell do you try to match pace with such influential figures, especially when you realize that they're each just as much a fucking weirdo screwball as you, if not moreso, and in ways beyond anything you ever got up to before? A very good metaphor for hitting adulthood, looking back.
Everyone's faking it, tbh. No-one has their life under control, adult or otherwise. Anywho, TK/N then continues to learn to use his new power and work with the rest of "the team" even though he's still very evidently the literal seventh wheel, as evidenced by the Nuva heading off to Voya Nui while he's chosen by the Turaga to stay behind and keep the Matoran from going berserk (which fails). Later he goes off with the soon-to-be Toa Ignika, gets separated from them, has a bunch of adventures where his balls finally drop and he comes into his own, then he shows up in Karda Nui having become a much better person (even if he's still half-drained of light, though that quickly gets fixed).
TL:DR, TK/N becomes a typical coming-of-age story, even if the final parts are sidelined for reasons of greater universal-scale plot events. Now, there's obviously a lot more nuance to it all than just that, as well as a few other things he dealt with (IE, confronting his inner darkness on several occasions), but that sums it up to a degree.
Now, going back to an earlier point, I mentioned that gender was basically pointless in Bionicle, at least for the Matoran and such, because in-universe, unlike humans and other organic beings, it had nothing to do with reproduction or furthering the continuation of an individual's species. If anything, it was more cosmetic than truly functional. Of course, it was added in because there was twofold interference from organic beings. One level was, of course, the Lego story writers, which wanted a bit of diversity to grab as many kids' attention as possible while also not getting shit on by parents and other folks in the industry. However, there was more direct and influential interference in-universe, thanks to the Great Beings themselves (who, in turn, were also influenced by the writers), all of which injected a very human bias into things.
The various beings inside the GSR were designed and manufactured based on the physical setup of the normal inhabitants of Spherus Magna, both in form and possibly in their original programming, as also mentioned earlier. Sure, doing so probably had uses, like the liquid-dwelling Ga-Matoran being physically feminine to allow a more hydrodynamic shape, or almost all the Psionic Matoran/Toa being feminine because that one masculine one they built turned out to be too aggressive, etc.
Meanwhile, Av-Matoran were one of the few (if only) type of Matoran with a truly split gender population (the exact percentages are unknown at this time) because they were prototypes for all the other Matoran types to come. So yeah, sure, there was a possibility that there could have been a female Av-Matoran pottering around instead of TK/N on Mata Nui, and who could have had his place as the (a?) Toa of Light in that timeline, who knows.
Sure, I'm also a believer that at least some form of love canonically exists amongst the beings of the GSR in Bionicle, even if it's not the same as what we humans have, which is driven at its core by the need for biological reproduction. You can't be a sapient functionally-immortal being that lives for literally thousands of years, if not millions/billions, and not have at least some kind of compassion and empathy for your fellow sapients around you. Hell, I've seen plenty of art and stories about two or more of the Toa being an item, or a couple of the Matoran even, and I'm all for that.
I'm all about just about EVERYTHING about Bionicle, as long as it's not gross, horrendous, illegal in any of most of the civilized nations here on earth, or anything like that. There's also apparently a decent number of long-time fans of Bionicle who followed it from a young age that also have figured out (or are still currently figuring out) in more recent times that they're trans, which is also fucking great IMHO! But the whole "TK/N=trans" thing? Well, I've seen no precedent for it in-universe (either from TK/N himself or any other characters), and I have no idea where it came from irl, so, again, it all just feels off, from my perspective. Of course, I could just be blinded by a few of the dumb things I'm dealing with in my own life rn (long story, not going into it), or because life at work dealing with dumbass customers has just left me too jaded to see it, idk. I admit that. I'm human, I have failings and biases and opinions and all that other shit. This isn't me trying to be hateful, or a terf (or whatever they're called,) I'm just confused AF about all this.
For those of you among my pitiful follower count who aren't bots, feel free to comment/reblog, or not. Roast me alive, unfollow, try to explain things so as to swing my POV around, whatever you feel like, not that you need my permission to. You're your own people, and this is the internet, so... whatever. Imma go to bed and hope my Tumblr doesn't explode because I had to try and get something that took from maybe 1am til after 3am to write out of my head and off my chest. Maybe I can stop worrying at it like a missing tooth now.

(Mostly) First Impressions of Eternal Filena
CONTEXT: Another thread repost from my twitter during my original batch of Takeshi Shudo stuff I watched while being ill in March. Of course, these are edited for any grammar and anything that didn't need to be there w/ hindsight. This time, I actually had to add stuff in the form of notes. I gotta get back on this watch, I've just been down so many rabbit holes this year. I had also watched cosmos pink shock, but never got around to talking about it despite loving it. I look forward to talking about these shows more someday. (And pretty soon for one of them...)
---
I knew getting ahold of a lot of Takeshi Shudo's early work was gonna be a challenge, but at least according to Wikipedia he did a lot of uncredited work throughout the early 70s. What a shame, even if it seems like he was just a helping hand.
Lucky for me I guess I've seen enough of the guy's work that I can usually tell what he might have written. He has a distinct style from what I've sampled so far. [NEW NOTE: This is in relation to some of the earliest shows he worked on as a writer. I had been having trouble finding his proper credit online for individual episodes he wrote. I had watched those before watching these ovas. During these shows I'd just have to watch an ep and guess if he'd pop up in the credits. I was right pretty much every time. What a nice memory.]
So far, my favs are Radio City Fantasy and Eternal Filena. Radio is a cute love story in twist with a drug trip. Filena is also a love story about two people that have to come together and make shit work.
Filena has 3 versions. The light novel (I can't read it.) the game, and the anime that was never completed. The anime is still worth watching, it has some cool visuals and frankly I love Lila and Filena a lot, so its an added bonus for me. I'm not sure which version is closer to Shudo's LN. My guess would be the anime since it seems like he had more involvement in the writing, but I'm only guessing. The game feels almost has a road trip vibe and is quicker paced compared to the anime.
I know the claim about Prof Ivy being a Lesbian was debunked recently, so its cool to be able to say Takeshi Shudo has written a lesbian couple. I know there's talk about Filena being a trans man, and I think that's valid. Though it seems like this is mostly talked about from the perspective of the game, where their character is written a bit different than the show. (Less openly affectionate, more traditionally masculine personality)
Also, if Filena is a trans the ending of the game is pretty terrible then, forcing them to wear a dress when they don't want to. (Aka forcing them to conform to women gender roles in this case.) I'm not saying that's why I think Filena isn't trans, I'm saying if they are, that's a really shitty ending for a trans guy. Epesh bc Lila, their partner, is making them wear it.
My guess is that Shudo intended them to be a lesbian couple. Rn having access to the novels would be really helpful. If you've never read a Shudo novel, at the least the Pokemon ones are written a lot different than most books. Most people would say he's a terrible writer, but I disagree. At least in those books you can feel his brain throughout the page. No one else could have written those books in that exact way. He has a voice, lets say, and I'm sure the writing style is the same in the EF LNs. Either way, I think it's so cool to have a series from the 90s that lets people speculate about queer identities and there's viable text to provoke discussion.
It's also cool to see how our main couple is treated. They live in a world where they're slaves and are only seen as entertainment. Together they see each other as loved ones, work ingas a team to create a better future for themselves. It's something you have to read/play to completely get what I mean and I think the anime is better at showing this aspect. But trust me, there's a warmth to their relationship past the romance. (no matter what type of couple they are.) With it being a romance, makes it better. Double for gay interpretation. It doesn't feel it was written to be "Lesbians be hot" but more "This is a couple". Even if in Shudo's novel they don't end up together (they do in the game.) or it goes any other way in the end, I still really respect how they're written.
MORE END OF THE GAME SPOILERS: They become queens at the end. Like Lila is on the throne with Filena. Based.
I'd love to keep talking about Filena and Lila at length bc I think they're great, but I don't want to spoil anything else. Btw the game is on the SNES and never got localized (i WoNdEr WhY?) so Filena being either a gay woman or a trans protag is pretty cool considering the era. Fuck, her being a woman protag by itself was a big deal for that era as far as I know.
*Btw not saying the Queer themes are the only reason this wasn't brought over. I could guess several like how it looks like FF or how its an adult property, and more. [NEW NOTE: I think I meant it looks enough like Final Fantasy that investors wouldn't want to risk it being in competition with those games. tbh that coulda made it a better candidate for an ENG release during certain times as well. I was just spit ballin' but it bothered me enough to add this note. While we're here, I think between it's adult and Queer themes, and also coming out in 95 is most likely why it stayed JPN excusive. I should have mentioned its late release date (for the SNES), but when you're sick and on twitter things slip through the cracks I guess.]
The game has a fan translation and there's a recent lp that shows it off. I'd say check it out if you like that era of JRPGs in general. Personally, for English speakers at least, the game then the anime is the best way to go since you'll get a full story first.
There's several reasons I like one version over the other but that's small shit and I've written enough for now. I wasn't planning on this thread becoming about Filena but I guess it is national Women's day [At time of writing] and no matter Filena's gender, Lila is a queen.
Also sorry if I get anything wrong. Espesh about Shudo's career. Info on the english web is not great. Like some websites say Radio city was his first work at 18, but it came out in 1984 and he was born in 1949. If I get anything wrong, I'll correct it.
i got a lot more Shudo stuff I've seen and want to see, so maybe next time I'll post more about Radio city. This was meant to be a small update thread lol.

Robin Arellano x gn! reader! PART 1!
Tumblr media
it had always been you three, you, finney, and robin. well before finney had come into the picture, it was just you and robin. robin and you. the two of you were attached at the hip from the very beginning of time. you lived in the same neighborhood as him, just four houses down from his. your mothers were best friends and as children, you two would have play dates. because your father wasn’t exactly present in your life by choice, as a child who couldn’t be left alone when your mother went to work. you stayed the early mornings and late afternoons with either uncle arellano or ms arellano. and of course, with robin included. robin was in every class with you, from kindergarten to now. during elementary, he met a kid named ‘finney blake’ around the fourth grade. and from there on out, getting introduced to him the three of you were a trio. never to be broken or separated. you all never really seemed to clash together, finney being the peacekeeper, robin the protector, and you being a mixture of the both but mostly acting as the voice of reason between the two boys if one or both were in and out of their heads. it was 1978, the semi-end of the school year, splat in the middle of april. it was nothing but rain this month, at the time you were laying on the warm and comfortable bed. reading some novel you kept on pushing back to read for a while now. considering your bed was pushed against the wall you had the perfect view and sound of the rain doing its rhythm of pitter pattering against the sidewalk and window. it had seemed to definitely put you to a calm, curling into the knitted blanket you owned as you felt your eyes getting heavier and heavier with every breath. it was like nothing could seem to disturb the peace you ha-
“thwack!”
immediately you shot right back up from the previously relaxed state of comfort you were in. fear quickly catching inside of your heart as you hurriedly whipped your head around the room to see if anything had fallen. until another thud was heard. it had finally hit you, it was at the window. grumbling curses under your breath, you slid open the window poking your head out only to get hit with a pebble to the corner of your mouth. “oh shit-“ you heard a voice say. immediately looking down the original patience you had immediately turned to irritation. “robin?!” you practically screamed out, hand reaching over to rub the slightly stinging spot of your mouth. right there, down below the window was none other than robin arellano. he gave you a crooked smile knowing he was definitely in for a scolding. “aha…yeah..it’s me..! er…the one ‘nd only..!” he sheepishly called out. as you were about to slam the window shut on him you noticed the red stains around his hands and arms. it didn’t take you long to yell at him to go over to the front door despite his protests for you to somehow magically throw him up to your bedroom, which was on the second floor.
running down the carpeted stairs, fumbling over your feet as you did so, mother was over at work doing some double time which left you alone. either way she didn’t mind robin at all, of course she didn’t. as you swung open the door as expected, the boy in the flesh was leaning on the door frame. balance getting slightly tilted as you swung the door open. looking at him and his open wounds with a scrutinizing look. before letting out a sigh and allowing to roll your eyes at the boy. he knew how much you hated him getting hurt. often flying into a semi-rage and cussing him out like there was no tomorrow whenever he got into a fist fight for some stupid reason, finney often of times having to shut the both of you up. but this time, you were silent, silent as you could be of course. pulling him into the living room he was so familiar with as you locked the door. directing him to sit down on the sofa, you quickly placed a towel down on the furniture as he was sopping wet. grabbing the supplies you needed, you sat across from him with a visible frown. the frown that made his heart sink almost. but of course only as a friend right? friends cared about each other like this right? yeah, yeah they did. “so.” you started off, giving him a sharp glance as you tended to a ugly looking cut on his shoulder. “so.” he mumbled back, mimicking the rolling eyes, only to be cut off by you giving him a harsh shove. as he yelped out in surprise you demanded a explanation to his wounds, of course you know how he got them, you just wanted to hear the conformation from robin himself. “robin you seriously need to quit with this shit! do you not understand?? you go to me because your own mother hates seeing you beat up and two inches close to de-“
“hey-!” he quickly cut you off furrowing his brows, “i wouldn’t say two inches close to death technically moose blacked out mid way so i won.” he explained with a proud smile on his face, but seeing the expression you had on your own made it quickly wash away. with a guilty sigh he lowered his head, reaching his uninjured hand over to your arm, rubbing the side of your shoulder as if to reassure you. he wasn’t sure why he did the things he did, well his actions and the way he acted with you to be exact. whenever the two of you walked home from school he’d always shove you to the, in his words: ‘safer part of the street’ and always judged harshly at the boys you liked or the boys that liked you. or did little actions that brought him comfort, so he did the same actions to you, in hopes it’ll bring you some sort of comfort as well. and much to his luck it always did. he noticed how your shoulders slumped from the tensity you were feeling about him originally, letting the soft spot you had for the boy show. you nodded slowly, trying to wrap your head around the boy’s thought process as per usual, he allowed his hand to move upwards just the smallest bit, tucking away a stray strand of hair you had, giving a slight smile to you in return. a few minutes passed and you were almost finished up with everything he busted. the last thing was the gash on his lip. for some reason you could practically hear your heart quicken as you inched closer to get a better look, and felt relief when your heart didn’t just jump out of your chest as you tilted his head closer with a gentle nudge. when you were younger doing these up and close wounds definitely weren’t as nerve racking and panic inducing as they now are.
it seemed like the both of you felt that way. as robin tried to keep his eyes from looking anywhere else but admiring you. from the lampshade, the tv that wasn’t even turned on, the tacky rug. anything really. he had felt relief for just a moment as you announced you were finished. he let out a breathy laugh, one of nervousness as he could feel his face heat up. as the two of you semi-pulled back from the close range it suddenly went awkward and silent as if you both were waiting for something. in a way, you had come to accept the feelings you had for robin, testing the waters as you slightly shifted yourself forward, closer to him. eyes closing in anticipation. robin on the other hand..he wasn’t exactly..the most open with his feelings. part of him wanted to reel himself away from you while the other wanted to stay put. it only took a few seconds to realize nothing was going on as embarrassment tackled you like a coat. quickly opening your eyes as robin lowered his gaze, shaking his head ever so slightly. “uh…i gotta go y/n..my ma is probably wondering where i am..” he mumbled quietly. not even able to look at you in the eyes as he got up, a flash of feelings just washed over you as you quickly sprung to your feet. following him with furrowed brows. but suddenly, just the look he gave you once he saw you going after him, it just made you stop. letting out a sigh, you nodded and sat back down on the couch, already trying to block him out of your mind as you cleaned up the place. once hearing the door shut, you couldn’t help but to be overcame with emotions. he’s lead you on for a whole year now, with the stolen glances from across the room, how he would carry you place to place whenever you complained the slightest about your legs hurting, grabbing your books and holding them for you without even asking, hell he even took care of you once when you were practically on your death bed sick. even though it was a flimsy job. not to mention every friday you’d go with him to the drive in, it alternated between the two of you choosing movies. those little gestures seemed more than bittersweet now.
he’s been leading you on and on and on and all the sudden you get this? this in return? you could practically feel your heart turn more and more into shambles as you just sat there, on the couch staring blankly across the room. trying to process whatever the hell just happened. it wasn’t long before your lip started to quiver and tears threatened to spill out. you really fucked up now.
that was six months ago.
hello!!! i hope you all enjoyed this little part one of a request !! because i know i did😭 it’s definitely refreshing to write something more on the sadder side. and once again I DONT PROOFREAD! we die like men💪

hi to the new people in the les mis fandom joining bc of joseph quinn, it is lovely to have u all with us and u are more than welcome, however u should know that bbc enjolras (and the whole bbc adaptation) is nowhere close to the original character and everything he represent.
while joseph quinn did a really good job at acting enjolras, the way the writers wrote his character was bad and out of character. obviously, and it's normal, an adaptation will always have its own interpretation of a character, and that's what's make fiction so great. but i think u need to be aware of the fact that it's not a good representation of what enjolras' character is and what his character has been representing for over 150 years (i could go into details and maybe will but it's late and i'm working early tomorrow).
i also wanted to say, as a reminder that, while it's completely fine to simp for enjolras (no one is immune to him, whether he's played by aaron tveit, joseph quinn or anyone else) and find him hot (because he IS hot or because he's played by joseph quinn, again, i get it; i don't find moustachjolras hot but damn that man is find irl), u need to be aware that enjolras is a queer character. it's stated multiple times that he has no interest in women, never has and never will. his character has been an important representation for the queer community, him being compared to a lot of gay historical figures (and i'm not going to start with the enjoltaire); but also for the aromantic and asexual community and trans community. his character is very likely to be aroace; and victor hugo describe him as being very androgynous looking, looking like a young woman. and while i don't want to talk on behalf of the trans community, i've seen a lot of post and fanfictions headcanoning him as trans, and i think it's very important to have that kind of representation in such an important piece of classical literature.
so please, be aware that the y/n fanfic and nswf y/n fanfic with female character x enjolras can be really disturbing, especially for people who have been in the fandom for a long time and are really looking up to his character and kinning him. don't just reduce him to hot-man-u-wanna-do-the-dirty-with when his character carries so much importance and has for decades. and i promise, caring about a character's whole essence and personality doesn't make them any less interesting or hot (quite the contrary actually).
also, let's not forget how we collectively hated on the casting choice when it first came out and i find it a bit odd to suddenly change our mind just bc it's the same actor who plays eddie munson. i personally think we were right to complain, bc it WAS a bad casting choice considering all the physical description of enjolras we had (and yes, in les mis, his physical appearance matters of lot).
we are not trying to gatekeep our fandom. on the contrary, i think it's really pretty fucking cool to have new people finding an interest in a 160yo book ! and for me, u guys are more than welcome to join our sad silly little fandom. but we just want u to be aware of all of this (and maybe some other issues that do not cross my mind rn) and be educated so we can all be drama free.
ok i'm done now, sorry for the long post, welcome again to the fandom, and if u decide to stay be ready for the tears and the pain caused by mr victor hugo ! bye bye, with love, a little french fan

you let out a frustrated groan as you squeezed your eyes shut, opening them again. it was 2am and you could not fall asleep. you knew that you needed your sleep considering you had school in the morning and wanted to wake up early.
you shifted to lay on your side as you figured maybe just closing your eyes for a while would work? it was worth a shot.
a few moments later, you heard your door open slightly then close again. you peaked towards the door and saw your boyfriend, peter, walking towards you. last time you saw him was on the roof of some new york building doing your afternoon patrol with him before you decided to get home to sleep. he insisted on staying for a while more and you were too tired to argue.
he was still in his spiderman suit and stopped to press the spider on his chest, taking it off. you turned to lay on your back and looked up at him with a small smile.
"hi spidey. how was patrol?" you asked.
"saved a cat from a tree, beat up evil aliens, the usual." he practically whispered out the joke, evidently exhausted, causing you to laugh softly.
"bet you regret staying out so late." he nodded at your words, pulling on the pair of his sweatpants he found in your drawer. "but you're still up?" you sighed.
"i can't fall asleep." he nodded and completely pulled your covers off your now cold body. the shivers you felt soon went away as he layed himself on top of you, his head on your chest. you pulled the blanket back on the both of you, playing with his hair.
"i missed you so much." he said.
"we were only apart for like 4 hours." you laughed.
"too long." as his voice got lower and his sentences shorter you knew he'd be out very quick, but to your surprise he made an adjustment to his position.
peter moved his head up, his hand rested on your torso softly touching the bit of skin that was exposed.
"can i get closer to you?" you didn't exactly know what he meant. what was he gonna do, morph into your body or something? nevertheless, you replied with a simple, "mhm."
he kissed the tip of your nose softly before lifting the oversized t shirt you were wearing.
"this ok?" you nodded.
he laid himself under your shirt, resting his head right between your tits. his skin was warm and felt nice against yours. you closed your eyes in content, rubbing up and down his back slowly.
suddenly you felt a wet and warm sensation on your right nipple that made you gasp quietly.
"sorry, y/n/n. really need you right now."
"it's ok, petey. feels good." you could feel his smile against your skin and he continued his actions, occasionally switching, and occasionally spreading wet kisses on your chest all while you let out small noises of satisfaction.
the intimacy gave you a sense of comfort and relaxation that caused you to slowly drift asleep. peter’s own actions become lazy and slow as he lifted himself up to see your sleep face. he kissed your cheek and cuddled against you until he was asleep as well.

Anakin Assists the Jedi Council While On Medical Leave
AU brainstormed primarily by @atagotiak, @gelpenss, and myself.
Basically, a fix-it based in Anakin getting a peek into the daily life on the Council early, and accidentally Figuring Some Shit Out along the way, mostly because Palps Fucks Up.
So, Anakin gets injured in a way that limits him to Coruscant for a few weeks. He can still walk and talk, but he can't fight. The specific injury doesn't matter, just this:
Anakin runs errands on behalf of the council and sits in on meetings to take minutes as a "you're on medical leave but we need all hands on deck, congrats you get to be the secretary until we can send you on stabbing missions again" thing.
Also, there just aren't a whole lot of people with Anakin's clearance level. They had to send out Stass Allie to handle the mission that was originally next on Anakin's roster, and Anakin's the most convenient person to substitute into her position.
He's not super happy about this but he can more or less understand the point of it. Given that he gets antsy about needing to fight almost immediately, he can acknowledge the worth of having something useful to do, if only as the person who's writing down who says what and making sure everyone has the right file on hand.
(Besides, Obi-Wan jokes in a way that Anakin thinks might be encouraging, this is good practice if Anakin ever wants to be on the High Council himself!)
(This is a very helpful conversation.)
BASICALLY, Anakin is resigned to this but agrees because "Usually we have Master Allie handle this but we need her running that mission that was originally set for the 501st, so you get to fill in for her until you can switch back. Think of it as training for eventual mastery or admin or--listen, we're just really stretched thin."
Here's the key thing, though: Anakin isn't supposed to leave the Temple, for medical reasons, so Palpatine doesn't know Anakin is sitting in on Council meetings. They haven't met up since Anakin's last surgery, and because [muffled hand-wave reason] he didn't find out another way, like Anakin comming him or the Council giving him the heads-up about the change in attendance.
It's fine. He's just taking notes and doing preparatory research, he has the clearance, the Chancellor likes him anyway. Hell, they'd have had someone's Padawan doing this, before the war increased the necessary clearance levels. They'll toss in a quick message in the brief they send to Palps that he never reads anyway, and that's really all they need to do. Skywalker's getting some rounded experience and this way the medics won't be freaking out about him stressing his heart after getting electrocuted by trying to spar too early.
Palpatine doesn't talk directly to the Council, he just sends a recording the first time Anakin is there. It's a bit weird, but nothing goes wrong. Anakin's off-screen from whatever device they use to send a response, since he's not technically a member, just assisting for a bit on the part of Master Allie's duties that he's actually allowed to touch (and not the bits that are getting added to Mace, Plo, and Shaak's stuff).
The first four or so meetings are like that. Anakin starts having a bit of sympathy for the Council as he sees how many things they want to do that are hampered by the need for Senatorial approval, things that he would also want to do and didn't think required this much red tape.
About a week in, still mostly recordings with Anakin just sitting on the side playing paralegal, the wheel of fortune turns a few pegs.
Palpatine hands over a an order on the range of injury that a soldier should be treated for, "to ensure that republic resources aren't being wasted on clones that, while expensive, would actually be cheaper to replace than repair."
Oh, he dresses it up in prettier language than that. Anakin doesn't process it as such first.
The Chancellor manages to couch his phrasing in "prioritizing resources for taxpaying republic citizens and employees of the GAR," which... well.
The natborn commissioned officers pay taxes. The Jedi are employees. The clones are neither, because they're slaves.
Probably he frames it as the employees thing, very much the kinda language that sounds halfway ok unless you’re fluent in political bullshit.
And Anakin is really confused at first about why the council is upset by the order because, okay, he would PREFER to be able to use medical supplies on refugees when possible, but he understands prioritizing the soldiers?
He just looks up, totally lost, when someone groans and goes, "That's the third time this year, is he trying to get us all killed?"
And it vibes as such a genuine, aggrieved, sad reaction that Anakin is completely blindsided because it's not the sarcastic, petty resentment he kind of expected? It's just... desperate depression.
And someone gently has to explain that this is the third time they've had resources restricted to only GAR employees and that it's a polite way of saying "prioritize natborn officers, stop wasting resources on clones, we can replace them easier."
Or maybe he doesn't ask, because he's just there to take notes, not argue, and he can see the masters drawing up a response that amounts to "We would like to remind you that our soldiers do not fall into that classification, and to limit their access to our medical supplies is liable to cause a loss of life that we find unreasonably high. Please see the annotations attached to adjust wording so that the clones may receive the same level of care."
Anakin's internally just like "Yeah, that's phrased nice and addresses the main problem, Palpatine will obviously agree and change it!"
And then he comes in the next day and the response comes in and it's just dripping condescension about considering the clones actual people.
"This is why we can't use the bacta tanks on clones anymore, just the patches. We could use them at first, we had a few of the CCs get through fatal injuries with them, but they cut that off and said we could only use the tanks on Jedi and non-clone officers a few months ago. The Banking Clans keep tightening their belts on the army, and the Chancellor insists we put citizens first, and the clones aren't citizens. We've been arguing back as much as we can, but he keeps going on about the economy and we can't... we just can't, Skywalker. We're trying to save as many of our men as we can, but..."
Something like "Allocation of resources reiterated, the Kaminoans have assured the senate that the Jedi are far from exhausting the resources ordered."
And Anakin's like. He can't blame the council for lying about Palpatine's past or future actions. He just saw Palpatine's actions. Those actions were to order people under his control to throw away lives he saw as replaceable commodities.
These are his friends' lives.
His soldiers are being thrown away by a man in a tower that he trusted.
And then that man has the gall to suggest it's the council's fault.
Palpatine is good at what he does, especially in public, he dresses it up in flowery language and everything, but Anakin's just like "Those are my FRIENDS and also this is??? How slavers talked about their property on Tatooine???? FRIENDPATINE, WHAT THE FUCK."
Anakin can be passive aggressive sometimes as well as outright aggressive. So if he brings up the guidelines and why they make him upset in general terms, and Palpatine says something about how he’s sad the council doesn’t care about the clones...
Anakin, internally, having just watched the council scramble to save as many clones as possible within the guidelines that Palps handed down: Uh-huh.
(Anakin is just the gay horror teeth gif from queer eye.)
Tumblr media
Just. “Yeah, funny you say that, Palpatine! Because as I remember, you told the council not to waste more resources than necessary while Mace Windu was arguing to expand the treatment range!”
Palps doesn't even have time to salvage the situation or attack Anakin because Anakin just bulldoze rants for fifteen minutes and then storms out.
Anakin... maybe does a little treason and gets a copy of the orders so he can ask Padme "Hey, can you explain the politics of this?" and doesn't tell her who wrote it so she isn't biased (he tells her that this is why he's not sharing the author's/speaker's name), and just lets Padme pick apart all the 'this is a nice way of saying they don't view the clones as people' details.
Alternately, someone on the Council sees Anakin dithering and manages to get him to admit that he's not great at political language and wants to ask someone to help him understand the full implications. The person--Mace? let's go with Mace--is aware that Anakin is on good terms with Senator Amidala, if not necessarily aware of the depth of said relationship. Mace points out that he's probably going to be seeing her soon just because he usually does and, as a Senator, she can get easy access to these sessions since they're not about specific missions, just allocation of resources, etc. It's not an optimal solution, but she's got a bit more free time than anyone else Anakin knows with the clearance levels, like Order members that are actively involved in the war effort.
Anakin dithers and panics and Mace, trying to be helpful, tells him that plenty of Jedi have made friends among the Senate over the years, didn't you know Qui-Gon Jinn was a personal friend of Former Chancellor Valorum?
At any rate, Anakin goes to Padme and asks her to explain it to him, because she knows how to phrase things so he gets it.
Anakin has to have her pause and he goes outside and destroys some things halfway through.
(Anakin maybe thinks back to the times Padmé or Obi-Wan were really obviously frustrated and when he asked, they said stuff like “I can’t stand Palpatine rn, sorry Anakin I know he’s important to you and you don’t want to talk about politics, let’s just talk about something else.”)
(Obi-Wan: I don’t trust Palpatine Anakin: you just don’t like politicians in general Obi-Wan: yes that is also true)
(Obi-Wan does like Bail and Padme but he does also talk a bit about how politicians generally aren’t to be trusted.)

“you look good with my hands around your throat” from the subtle prompts list for Matt Murdock, but for more of an innocuous set up imagine like- how Matt hears/feels singing? Like he’d be able to feel singing technique and his partner lets him try to feel it out more but obviously he doesn’t see it, he just notices how flustered they are. He does the- the- the you know- the head tilt with that smirk and- man. This prompt list goes hard

ok i got a little carried away with this one but as a musician, i definitely felt inclined to write this and be a lil self indulgent with it LMAO
i also went ahead and closed my asks so i can answer the rest of these through out the week without spamming too much or letting my inbox get too full bc that easily overwhelms me and i think the amount i have rn is perfect!
Tumblr media
matthew was always so enamored with your voice. it was partially what drew him so close to you- that and the fact that foggy’s heart rate had never sped up so fast before. hell, even karen’s heart fluttered when you first walked into josie’s bar.
you and your band had taken your time setting up, going through a short sound check and some rearranging of the stage before you stepped up to the mic. you gathered the attention of everyone to introduce each of your band members and yourself before starting on the first song. a few covers and a few original songs were played before your set was over and matt couldnt help but feel disappointed it was over so fast.
the whole bar seemed to be in love with you and it was lucky on his part that you suddenly appeared next to him to order a cocktail. he started talking before he even realized it.
“you guys sounded great up there, especially the lead.” he grinned, turning to face you a little more comfortably.
“oh, thank you!” he could hear the flutter in your heart as you looked at him.
“are you the lead? i uh… i cant exactly tell.” he laughed, waving his hand in front of his face for emphasis.
you giggled and nodded, taking your drink and stealing the seat next to him. “yeah, thats me! most people think addison is the lead since she plays the guitar. theres not a lot of lead bassists out there.”
the conversation had flowed smoothly, leading to him buying you another cocktail- your favorite, a salty dog, one he had never heard of but was inclined to try if it meant meeting up with you again. numbers were exchanged and a date had been set for next week by the end of the night.
he replayed that night at the bar as he listened to you humming to yourself as you sat cross legged on his arm chair, plucking at the strings of your bass. his apartment was slowly taken over by your things; mainly instruments and music theory or music history books, the occasional pedal board or guitar stand. his closet was split in half and you had filled up your side. he had already tripped over a few amps on his way to the bathroom at night.
you ran through the opening riff to a song matt hadnt heard yet, muting the note a little too early and shifting in your seat. “what are you thinking about?”
“me?” matt asked, turning his head towards you.
“yeah.” you laughed, setting your bass on its stand to come sit in his lap. “you have that look on your face. your thinking face.”
matt laughed, letting you settle down in his lap as he wrapped his arms around you. “my thinking face?”
“just answer my question!” you huffed playfully, tugging his hood onto his head and pulling the strings.
he swatted your hands away with a laugh, tugging the hood back open. “i was just thinking about when we first met.”
you inwardly cringed, thinking back to six months ago. “god, i sounded awful back then.”
“you did not!” matt laughed, pinching your side as you started to protest. “yeah, you've definitely improved over the months, i can hear it, but that doesnt mean you sounded bad.”
you squinted at him playfully, swatting his hand away as he went to pinch you again. “those vocal exercises have been working like crazy.”
he nodded in agreement, his hand settling around your throat to feel the vibrations as you talk. “your voice has definitely gotten more powerful. you have more control, too.”
you hummed, cheeks flushed as his fingers twitched against your skin. “yeah.” you breathed out in agreement, ignoring your heart pounding against your chest.
“you know, your voice feels nice.”
“it feels nice?”
matt laughed slightly, shrugging. “yeah. the vibrations when you sing? i can usually feel them. through the air or the floor, either way, it feels nice.”
“i always forget my boyfriend has superpowers.”
“they're not superpowers.” he chuckled, thumb rubbing slightly against the side of your neck. “can you sing for me?”
youve sang in front of matt plenty of times. you honestly sang more than anything else, but him asking suddenly had you nervous. not only do you have to sound good, but now you have to feel good too?
“you don't have to.” he said after a beat of silence, “save your voice for your gig tomorrow, i’ll hear it then.”
“you’re coming tomorrow?”
“of course, i wouldn't miss it for the world.”
you grinned at that, leaning down to kiss him as you felt giddy with excitement. he hadnt missed a single gig since you both started seeing each other, but the excitement of him being there never left.
his fingers tightened around your throat mid-kiss, causing your cheeks to heat up again as you pulled away. matt’s face was equally as warm, his head tilting as a smirk tugged at the corners of his mouth.
“you know, you look good with my hand around your throat.” he hummed, squeezing ever so slightly for emphasis.
“how can you tell?” you teased, your own hand subconsciously coming up to rest on top of his.
“i just know.” he chuckled, pulling you back down to kiss you again. “bedroom?”

I Went On A Manga Binge
So you don't have to
For those of you who have wisely avoided the shreds of it I've left around the blog thus-far, I had some weird notion to go re-experience Yu-Gi-Oh uuuuuh a week ago? We'll go with that. Time is meaningless.
I'd been able to read a good portion of the early manga at the end of highschool, and somewhere in my stacks and stacks of paper is fanart from this dark time, so you know I cared. I also still own a Dark Magician action figure somehow, so. I'd also watched a large portion of the anime with my brother because it had been laced with some kind of crack and we couldn't look away? I remember when we both were just like shit, wait, don't change the channel, I can't stop looking at it. And the next thing we knew we were waiting for new episodes and I was doing research on the Japanese original because I was that kid.
Anyway, unnecessary backstory out of the way, here are some... let's call them Observations and Consequences of having read somewhere in the neighborhood of 300 chapters (and growing) of a manga primarily hinged on card games from a spectrum of sources ranging from boringly lawful to sketchy as fuck.
Surprise actual character that develops in typical shounen fashion being Jounouchi. My limited experiences with the 4Kids dub and only early manga had not painted him in a particularly good light. I don't know if episodes were being aired out of order or if I had just missed the ones that established that he was making shit up as he was going along, but Wow I liked him a lot more going through the manga than I ever did watching the (dubbed, heavily edited and censored and thrown into a slurry machine) anime. I'd managed to come out with the impression that he was just as reasonably experienced with the game as Yugi back in the day. Wild.
I'm now reading every single comic-style post on Tumblr backwards.
Striking inverse to first point, wow, I don't like Seto Kaiba. Though he gets points for his general philosophy of the future, and the line I read in my sketchy online combo of scans and scanlations in which he said, "If God is in your way, you run him down," was Metal As Fuck. I somewhat shame-facedly admit to enjoying him a lot more as an Abridged Series character. (I watched Abridged as it came out back in the day! The experience of watching the anime with my brother had been so fresh that I got all the in jokes about the way things were edited and dubbed, it was great. Series remains influential part of my life to this day, which is hella weird.)
I almost understand how Duel Monsters works now. I don't want this.
That said, wow a lot of the decisions made in the anime made everything a lot more ridiculous than the admittedly already ridiculous original. I got the distinct feeling in the manga that the Duelist Kingdom stuff we were seeing was designed to be used and exploited in ways that don't make sense in an actual cardgame just played on a table like a normal person and this was part of testing everyone to think higher, differently. Maybe this is obvious to everyone already, I don't know. I had always liked that it was very, 'Not so fast, I'm going to blow up the moon to change the tides,' but I'm not really sure the anime gave enough explanation that this was an extra layer added to things for that event? You can see people actively getting used to it in the books, and people who aren't considering the real or 3D nature of it getting owned, but my memory of anime version is everyone just like, 'oh, shucks, fuck me, I forgot to consider the phase of the moon before i played this card, can't believe I forgot.' No one calls Yugi on any of this stuff because it's valid play in that situation. Plus Yami Yugi had mad trickster energy in the beginning and it suited him to think of ways to do things inside these little simulation boxes the way it suited him to set perverts on fire. I imagine the real card game trying to emulate this element as something that would be to its detriment, but I neither know nor particular care haha
Ryou Bakura.
Really, though. I think he became kind of casualty of 'wow, we have a lot of characters who really aren't able to do anything in this story anymore,' despite the fact that his whole inner life could have been as interesting as Yugi's. I always like thinking about the possibilities of stories in which main character falls into magical world and is given magical item and told they're the hero and then they find out they've been the bad guy the whole time. The first several volumes of manga were about the quiet weirdo kid that no one talked to who was always blacking out and turning into a fucked up version of himsef because he was so attached to his ancient Egyptian jewelry, so like, Bakura could have much the same shit going on. I want to know what's happening with him so much. He clearly doesn't love being possessed, but he's also so drawn to the ring. Despite it having stabbed him at least twice and him knowing it's a danger to him and his friends, he keeps being pulled back into it. You see so much more of him being like, 'Oooh, a creepy thing, I love that! :D' in the manga than ever in the anime, which I'm all about. Also more blood. I'm very about that as well. Though my memory of the anime also made it look very much like normal regular daily Bakura was just a weird facade in places before he ever would have been. I think that was it trying to compensate for what people didn't see from the Toei anime, but okay whatever, that I love everything about this guy is not news, I don't need to talk about Bakura excessively here, I'm pretty sure that's gonna show up on my blog by itself
On a related note though, damn, more of these people need to talk to each other. Can we have some existential crisis support clubs or something. Can we get like some apologies or something? "I respect you as a duelist." "Cool, but you literally built a tower designed to specifically assassinate me and my friends? You were supposed to get Better after I retaliated by putting you in a coma, but you kinda didn't." "Why would the coma have made it better" "I just told you it didn't" ---- "Sorry I went along with the plan of your evil parasite stabbing you, misled you, and then also jumped in and took up some real estate in your head too." "I understand, I also have an evil thing inside me that does things while I'm blacked out." "...no, I was conscious for all of that." "Oh." "..." "..." "..." "Do you like Ouija Boards?" "sure okay" ETC. Like damn we are reading shounen manga because no one is talking extensively about their feelings here and I'm tapping my foot angrily.
Holy shit there are so many mythologies happening at once. The ancient family guarding the Egyptian Pharaoh has a surname that's a Mesopotamian goddess. None of the god cards make any Egyptian sense except Ra, and just like. Baaarrrrely. Somewhere either Evil Ring Bakura or Mar/lik makes a reference to cremation and spirits being taken to heaven with smoke which several things, but definitely not Ancient Egyptian. Marik/Malik meanwhile is clearly trying to head Arabic, along with Rishid, but then, hey, our sister is just Isis. Goddess McGoddess. Sometimes they're the same goddess! Her name could be Isis Isis or Ishtar Ishtar. Meanwhile, all the obviously 'occult because Christians think it is freaky' stuff. ~ancient egyptian pentagrams~~~This isn't a complaint, I guess so much as a 'Wow, I can kind of see the cultural spot the author was coming from and where he was aiming' kind of thing.
Wonder where things would have gone if the card games had not been latched onto the way they were.
Managed to forget how gross the pre-cardgames stuff was on the sexual harassment front. I'm glad there was a sort of explanation of everyone drifting away from being dick heads and that that decision was made. It got way more comfortable to read after no one was bringing Yugi p*rn on VHS.
Yugi looks better with a nose, glad we got that upgrade.
Interesting to watch the series style shift as it goes away from being horror to being over the top cardgames and friendship (with blood!). The first picture of Mokuba is fucking Jarring. Also noticed that the nicer a character is, the less their teeth are defined.
Glad manga did not go as completely off the fucking the rails about Marik's face. I never got as far as seeing him back in the day because college occurred, but I remember seeing pictures and stuff and being like, "what in the Fuck happened to that dude, I think the house style has collapsed in on itself"
Things the author Really Likes: motorcycles, belts, SHOES, holy shit the shoes. These are some of the most lovingly rendered sneakers I've ever seen. All the detail on his characters goes straight to their feet and then it's stretched upward until it forms stiff peaks. Gently fold in 3000 years of trauma and bake face down in a crumb coat of scattered mythology. Remove when you roll two zeros.
Where the fuck am I going to put the extremely large omnibus volumes of this comic I purchased in order to balance out how much I would be reading for free on the internet. I should have grasped that a three in one edition would be Thick and yet somehow I was still :O when it arrived. Have I strategically purchased volumes that contain my favorite parts, maybe, what's it to you will i eventually get the whole thing because incomplete book series gnaw on my soul? yes
Wish the transition from "I've murdered several people in delightfully karmic ways" to "all you need is friendship in your heart and cards in your hand" Yami Yugi/Pharaoh had been discussed more/transitioned better. Buddy, where did you get this approved for television high horse? Please go back to strangling people with yo-yos or at least tell me why you stopped.
I still can't tell anything that looks like a big robotic monster apart from any other big robotic monster. My dude, I can't tell cars apart, all these monsters look the same.
Yami Yugi fascinated me way more in highschool? Maybe because it was still super early and the anime was like 'we need to torture you about his origins WeEkLy. Now I'm just like 'wait hold on, can we go back to Bakura and Marik for a minute, there's some extreme unpacking to do here?' Those two are paying so much more in baggage fees here my guy wow
Violently uninterested in any of the spinoff media

hi bubba! in english atm. ive had a morning and a half. late to school hehe. had to sign in at the office bc i saw maia with the little attendance slip that relievers have. signed in and rocked up. the reliever is nice, he is chill. nice enough yk? youre at your first placement rn! so shit you had to wake up so early for it. n you have to do it the next two days as well. like eek. but youre amazing so i trust youll be fine. or even better than fine. i believe in you. just shit that i cant text you hehe. but its okay cause i have the letters and music and fifty internals to focus on. did i tell you french was also spoken? im terrible at french pronunciation. what can you do i guess. my kiwi mouth cant get around the fact that french is just gurgling. hopefully ill be fine.
wearing your hoodie at school ^-^ its nice and big and warm. i love it so much. im wearing so many layers bc its so cold. or not even that cold. so windy. and wind makes everything cold. got my stockings on, your hoodie, the big fleece jacket, and socks >:) which i dont think you are meant to wear with stockings, but fuck it, im cold and my shoes are thin. the wind is fucking up my hair too. so dog of mother nature fr.
what else? oh! friday is matariki. or maybe its not? i dont know. friday is the public holiday for matariki, so thats good enough for me. thursday is a half day bc they are doing the celebration at school from 1-5. (however it means p3 on thursday is like a full school assembly) i think im meant to go to the celebration? i think i will from like 3-5 maybe. if you dont miss me too much. but youd probably be asleep knowing you. will see i guess heh. i just know my friends were interested in going. i still have dance though, so maybe i go and then leave at like 4:40? thats when the bus is and itll take me straight to dance. just gotta be sneakily wearing my dance clothes or take a bag. we will see! sounds like a good plan though, if i do say so myself.
i really can keep writing forever hehe! apparently always having something to say translates well into letters too! id be so good with a diary. but i think one entry would be like 40 pages long. so maybe its for the best this is online. saves me some hand cramps.
i love you! and im excited for drama! having our war piece kinda finished is good. but getting the guys to work its kinda very hard when they arent feeling it. but we definitely need to perform soon. the original plan was to have it be done at the end of term 1. its almost been like 3 months since that? thats some shit timing. but tbf im glad we have the time to work on it, i want it to look good. but i dont mind not getting an excellence, but i know leo wants it. which is fair. hoping all goes well and the boys focus up. ill let you know.
it was nice waking up to you this morning :*] wish it could be like that irl and every day yk? i dont think i was very good at conversation, i barely remember it but i remember definitely slurring my words a teeny bit. sleepy maddi things.
ive been writing this letter for like thirty minutes. crazy how the time flies when i just talk. tbf whenever i talk just about my day it takes about 3 hours to get through! and i didnt even get to tell you about yesterday and the full on day i had! and havent even mentioned watching the end of the summer i turned pretty with rem and hos and jazz or playing dnd! gosh theres so much to talk about i could go on forever. im happy you love that about me. im very lucky. youre a great listener which is perfect because im a great talker. love you bubba.
i should go i think. got other posts to make and some english to pretend i did. i love you, hope the placement is going okay and you havent fallen asleep injecting someone yet.
talk soon,
-mads<3
