“Who are you texting?”

Jongho gave a small gasp before fumbling with his phone, trying to hide it from San. “It’s not important.”

He shrugged before teasing the maknae by poking his cheeks. “I think it is if you’re smiling that much. Is it a girl?”

“Jongho’s got a girlfriend?” Wooyoung piped up from the other side of the room, making Jongho’s cheeks flush a bright red. “For real? How did he manage that?”

With a scoff, he snapped, “She’s not my girlfriend!”

“So it is a girl?” Yunho continued teasing, a bright smile on his face and mischief in his eyes.

Again Jongho scoffed, trying to suppress his pout that was making its way onto his lips as he leaned back on the couch in the dorm living room. “Oh, shut up.”

“So, what is she, the girl you’re texting? A friend?” Seonghwa asked, an eyebrow raised.

He shrugged. “I guess-”

“A girl friend. See? I was right.” San nodded, earning a shove from Jongho.

“Shut up San!”

Wooyoung laughed. “I can’t believe Jongho has a friend that’s a girl! He doesn’t seem like the type to even approach a girl let alone make friends with one! How in the world did you manage that, Jongho?”

He huffed, getting defensive. “I can talk to girls, you know, and I can make friends with them just fine! Besides, I met her through mutual friends.”

“Do you like her?” Yunho questioned innocently, leaning forward in his seat on the sofa’s arm.

Jongho shrugged absent-mindedly, wishing the others would change the subject already. “Well, yeah, of course.”

“What he means is, do you like her as more than a friend?” Hongjoong clarified with a smirk.

Again, his cheeks became a bright shade of red and he looked away from the members that were laughing at the poor boy’s obvious crush. It’s bad enough he had such a huge crush on her that they just had to find out about, but he also invited her over to meet the rest of Ateez today. Maybe he should just call and cancel. That would be the smart thing to do.

And this was the exact moment you arrived. Of course, you had no idea what was going on beforehand and why everyone was laughing, so you burst into the dorm, smiling like an idiot. At least four jaws dropped and there was one cute boy blushing like a firetruck. Yep, that’s your Jongho alright.

“Hey, Jongho!” You chirped before looking around at all the others. “You must be Ateez! I’ve heard so much about you all! Jongho never stops talking about all of you! He always says-”

“Y/N!” He shouted, rushing over to slap a hand over your mouth.

The other boys started laughing again at the two of you and you pushed his hand away. “Well, it’s true. But I digress. My name is Y/n L/n, if you didn’t already know. I’m one of Jongho’s best friends.”

“Oh, so you’re his BEST friend, huh?” Wooyoung teased with a snicker.

“Of course!” You frowned, glancing at Jongho, unsure of what was going one. “Why? Did he not say we were? Jongho, are you lying to them?”

“No, I’m not lying to them!”

“Are you sure?” You narrowed your eyes at him, trying to see if he was lying to you in any way, shape, or form. “You know what I always say: lying is not attractive.”

“Y/n, will you stop, please?” He buried his face in his hands as the other members continued to laugh and tease him.

You frowned, your eyebrows furrowing in confusion. “Why? What’s wrong? Was it something I said?”

“Yes.” He mumbled into his hands.

Just as you were about to apologize to your crush for hurting his feelings and making him embarrassed, San wrapped an arm over your shoulders, shaking you gently. “So, Y/n, do you really think he’s attractive? Be honest. There is no judgement around here.”

You shrugged. “Yeah, I guess so?”

“Guess? What do you mean?” Mingi asked inquisitively.

Shrugging again, you tried to explain. “I mean, he’s far more attractive than any other guy I’ve met. Not only is he physically attractive but he’s also beautiful on the inside. Yeah, I know how cliche that sounds, but it’s true and it needs to be said. Hell, I might even be in love with him, but I mean who wouldn’t, honestly?”

“In love with me?” Jongho’s voice rang out over the overzealous shouts of the other Ateez members. You saw him peeking at you through his fingers. His eyes were wide and it looked like all the color had drained from his face.

Giving him a soft smile, you grabbed his hands and lowered them from his face slowly. Pressing a kiss to both of his cheeks, you replied, “Of course. Why wouldn’t I? You’re so sweet, strong, and compassionate. You’re also so dedicated and sensitive which are all very admirable qualities to me. There’s not a single thing about you that I don’t love.”

He bit his lip, nervously looking down. You continued smiling at him, trying to keep your rapidly beating heart from soaring out of your chest. When he didn’t say anything, Yeosang piped up. “Are you just going to leave her hanging like that? Tell her that you love her!”

Jongho cast a horrified look at him, in disbelief that he would say such a thing, especially in front of you! His reaction made Hongjoong stand up and point at him menacingly. In an authoritative tone, he stated, “As your leader, I demand you confess your love to Y/n.”

You couldn’t help but chuckle as he looked back at you with wide eyes. He took a deep breath, in a vain attempt to calm his nerves. “I-I-I love you too, Y-Y/n.”

Your smile became even bigger and you couldn’t stop yourself from planting a huge kiss on smack dab his lips. You laughed a little at his dazed look when you pulled away. The others were all shouting and whistling at the two of you, but you simply ignored them. The only thing you were worried about was the smile on your new boyfriend’s face, which was just as big as yours. Just by looking at his smile you could feel your heart filling up with love for him.

“Hey, Jongho! You got a little something-something on your cheek.” Yunho snickered, pointing to his own cheeks to show him where the stains were on his.

He practically smacked himself in the face, horrified to see his hand come away a bright magenta color. Probably not the best lipstick color for you to wear today, but you’ll admit, the color suited him absolutely perfectly. Nevertheless, he gave a terrified shriek before running to the bathroom to scrub it off. This time, you laughed along with the others at his frantic and frenzied reaction.

“Yep, that’s the boy I love.”
