Rating the Kommissar Rex/Il Commissario Rex/Hudson and Rex human partners for funsies, in chronological order. Contains spoilers, some bias, and opinions based on superficial characteristics. I will take the blame for any distorted memories I have of the shows, although I did a full rewatch last summer. (Rewatch refers to Kommissar Rex and Hudson and Rex. I could only watch Il Commissario Rex once. Well, 0.75 times. I couldn’t find some of the episodes.)

Kommissar Rex

Richard Moser: The blueprint. Not necessarily the best one in my opinion (although if you ask kid me, yes), but they modeled at least two other characters after him in the reboots. Pretty nice (although a product of his time), street smart, recently divorced, and the first few episodes where he and Rex are getting used to living together are hilarious. Moser’s dry humor was good too, also his whump scenes where great. And I appreciated the nude scenes a lot (thanks, German tv of the 90s). 8/10

Alex Brandtner: The hot one. Also, more of a “new age” cop (new age here means post 90s, don’t get confused). Kid me didn’t appreciate the hotness but I watched it in my teen years, and oh boy. And the action scenes, while sometimes ridiculous and making you wonder why???, really showed the actor’s training in physical scenes too. I always liked the way Brandtner immediately bonded with Rex and then we learn of the tragedy with his own dog. Too bad his love life was even more non-existent than Moser’s. 9/10

Marc Hoffmann: I’ll be honest, I just didn’t care for him for the most part, but I did like the fact that for the first time there was a ship with him and Nikki. They went for a different style with this one and it shows. Marc is less type A than the previous two, not a bad thing, but by that point, it was clear that Kommissar Rex as a show was nearing its end and I think it sometimes showed. 7/10

Il Commissario Rex (At this point, let me just say that I don’t associate the two shows with each other. And whoever has watched both, would probably agree with me. It hardly matters that the Italian show starts as a spinoff.)

Lorenzo Fabbri: Ugh, I don’t know what it is with this guy but I didn’t like him much. His style was a lot like Moser at first (adopting Rex, saving him from a miserable fate, learning to live with him, etc.). I absolutely hated the storyline with the forensics scientist throwing herself at him every chance she got and him trying to avoid her instead of flat out telling her he’s not interested, and then at some point they slept together??? Anyway, did not like. 6/10

Davide Rivera: I liked that guy but sadly we didn’t have that many episodes with him. He could have had more to offer as a character. More quiet than the sometimes too loud Lorenzo, and took some time to warm up to Rex if I recall. I liked that he took no flack from his boss (Sidenote: the boss didn’t like Rex at first and kept wanting to get rid of him, and I wanted to rip him to shreds). 7/10

Marco Terzani: I literally found one season of his episodes, so I’ll reserve judgment (if anyone has his second and third season, please give it to me lol or point to the right direction). He seems kinda reckless? He’s definitely attractive. ?/10, more research needed.

Hudson and Rex

Charlie Hudson: Started off as kind of mediocre for me, then he made me change my mind. When I started watching, I was hellbent on comparing every single thing of this show to the characters of the original at first, so I’m partially to blame for my initial perception of him. However, I won’t blame myself for the bad writing, pacing, and overall mediocrity of S1 that contributed to a big part of it. Anyway, they used some of Moser’s backstory (divorced, adopts Rex after his K-9 partner tragically dies) and expanded on it. Charlie has had the most development as a character than any of the others, which makes sense since he’s the first of Rex’s partners to live that long or not get rebooted lol. He definitely gets bonus points for having a love life too. And for not dying, despite all the whump situations he gets himself into. Definitely falls under the reckless category too. 70% himbo, 100% whump magnet. 9/10

I woke up, gasping for air, sweat making my shirt cling to my body like a second skin. I must look downright crazy, with flushed cheeks, hair a wild mess, and rubbing my thighs together without a stop. My mind drifted back to the dream that caused the state of my reaction.

His hands were roaming my body like I was the only thing he had ever wanted. And finally gripping my hips and making them move backwards until they hit his, and he was balls deep inside of me. Again. And again. And again.

The dream itself wasn't the problem. Sure, a sex dream wasn't that bad, and she had several over the years, but what she moaned and who was supposedly giving her all that pleasure was. Remus.

How? How had this happened to her? Not him. Not the one boy she never got along with. Not the one person who drove her up against the wall. Not the one that-

No, it actually made perfect sense. He was the only one who made her feel something. Sure, said "something" was regularly negative feelings. Like irritation, deep-rooted hate. How was she supposed to pull herself together after that? It was going to be a long day.

She dressed in her uniform, only leaving her blue-silver striped tie, loosely knotted around her neck, her top two buttons open, exposing her collarbones. Her trousers, replacing the usual skirt, hugged her waist and hips nicely. Thank God, if there is one, but she had single-handedly managed to convince the professors in the monthly Perfects meeting, that the female population of this school, formal and fancy vocabulary had definitely been a strong part of her remarks, should be allowed to wear trousers whenever they wanted and felt like it.

She walked towards the Ravenclaw table and quickly filled her plate with pancakes doused in chocolate because well… who doesn't love chocolate? Her eyes roamed the blurry Dining Hall. Man, she really should start using her wire-framed glasses, the ones that were an identical pair to his. They had bought them so as to match when they were still friends. Before he ruined everything.

There he was. The beautiful, arrogant blurry bastard. She would recognise his curly hair and mischievous dark green eyes paired with his scarred face glory. Damn him and his annoying good looks. And when the hell did her eyesight get that bad? Maybe it was the sleep deprivation, which was again his fault. She could proudly say, though, that she was still squinting and glaring at the world as she always did. And everything was right. Until…

"My God, you are so tight. And so perfectly marked up. Everyone should know who you belong to, don't you think?" He said as his hand travelled upwards, one of her thighs. Moving easily as all her previous orgasms slid down her legs. All courtesy of his mouth, of course. "I love seeing you like this. I never thought that fucking your brains out until you are senseless would be such an easy way to shut you up."

"Well, well, the she-devil just choked on her hot chocolate? Is it because your body detests anything sweet? " his voice called out. That deep, still slightly raspy and sleepy voice that made his Welsh accent stand out more prominently. She hated that voice, she thought, yet her body betrayed her and shivered, as if it was somehow remembering all that fantastic, imaginary, things it supposedly whispered in her skin.

Oohs and aahs echoed in the room, accompanied by chuckles and whispers, praising his "sick burn."

"You know what, Lupin? I always thought you were a pretentious piece of shit, but I never thought you were so self-centered to actually call yourself indirectly sweet. Is it one of those days of the month where you need a little confidence boost?", I called back as I finished eating and stood up from my seat.

A fuming Remus was the last thing I saw as I exited the room. Now, every member of the school faculty was laughing because of my comeback.

Lost in thought I walked towards the Ravenclaw Tower, and then felt an arm grasping my wrist and pining me into the wall, despite driving my elbow into said attacker in his nose, stomach (were those abs? Who was she kidding of course her attacker would have abs) and well … dick. But they didn't react at all as if those blows, who should have winded the air out of someone. Except- right lycanthropy super strength bullshit.

"You think that was funny?" He said in a deathly quiet tone, as if he wanted to murder me on the spot… or fuck me against the wall? Okay, now she was just self projecting.

"I think it was hilarious."

"Sometime you are going to learn to respect me, foxy?"

"Sure, when Hell freezes over."

"You know, you remind me of those foxes and black cats. They consider themselves so smart and mean, yet they are unaware of the danger they will face because of it. "

Branching off of my RoP rant, I am completely unsurprised to find out that the showrunners and entire writing team are six white men and two white women after feeling the whole season that the women were underwritten and the POC felt token-ey.

I’m getting serious deja vu to the Star Wars Sequels from this whole situation. J.J. Abrams giving lip service about making something inclusive and everyone getting excited about the diverse casting and then we find out it was all calculated and performative, Finn becomes a joke and Poe becomes a stereotype and Rey is a Strong Female Character who doesn't need narrative consistency she just needs a damaged white boy foil and a male relative to make her whole story about. The way everyone who criticizes it gets lumped in with bigots, which makes it super easy for them to be ~progressive~ without actually doing anything.

Seriously though:

- The obscene budget and corporate overlords looking to leverage it into merchandising/franchising.

- Comments about being super diverse but then the ~diverse casting~ is mostly side characters who aren’t given nearly as much narrative weight as the white characters.

- The Strong Female Lead who was clearly designed by white men, too busy punching her way through problems to listen to anyone or communicate effectively.

- The dark ~bad boy~ narrative foil who forms a ~connection~ with her and whose storyline somehow seems to have both the most time and least thought put into it of everything. (Sure dude, you were on that raft in the middle of of the sea on purpose. That makes total sense.)

- The shallow and unsatisfying writing. Scenes and dialogue written to make good trailers or twists but don’t make any sense when you’re actually watching them.

- A convenient shield for all criticism in the form of a large contingent of bigots who make it really hard to have legitimate conversations about its massive flaws, with the fans and the (reminder, white and male) creators being way too quick to let everyone know that if you don’t like it, it’s because You’re One Of Those.

The one difference is that we made fun of the Star Wars sequels for crashing and burning because they didn’t even bother to have an outline before they took off. Meanwhile RoP has actual cliffs notes to reference and they managed to make the same soulless mess of things. I’m not sure if that’s more impressive or less.

The thing that gets me about the mess with Kevin and Gwen in the third season of AF could have been a lot lesser if Gwen had just fucking communicated. And I don't hold it against her because she's just 15 and fuckers back then were not going around going 'and if your partner has a sever downward mental health spiral this is what you do', she was trying to help in the same way her family was trying to help in Verdona's premiere, the best way she could figure. It happens.

But it's played up like Kevin is the only one at fault for the rift there, because he didn't just pull from the aether the knowledge that this girl he's been seeing a few months and who suddenly started spending less time with him after the chimera dealie started is spending all her free time trying to fix him and not, in fact, just not comfortable dumping a guy having a crisis. And it would have to be pulling from the aether because Gwen wasn't communicating.

"But Achi, Kevin could have asked!" He could have, but there's two things there-

1) He's the guy having the crisis. The show is crap with this shit but it still manages to be blatant that he is having A Bad Time- he teamed up with Morningstar over it for fuck's sake. People can sit there and go 'well Gwen's struggling too' but even 'I'm hurting because you're hurting' is only a fraction of the shit the person who's actually hurting is dealing with. He could have asked, not doing so is a failure on his part, but also he's got a lot going on and a shitload of mental crap acting against him. Especially in a situation like this, where asking questions risks confirming the fears his brain is canonically throwing in the forefront.

2) She could manage to tell Ben. He knows what she's up to, explicitly he knows. Not 'I think this is what Gwen's doing' but downright knows. So we know it's not some big secret, she's telling people. She's just not telling Kevin. And again I'm sure in her head she had perfectly good reasons not to, probably didn't want to give him false hope or something, but she's got the easier end of it and is already telling people what she's up to. It's not hard to let him in on the situation. Doubly so when you know he's running around half-expecting you to dump him.

Neither one of 'em is perfectly rosey on this- Kevin didn't look into shit and just wallowed in doubts and fears, but it's because he's got a whole hell of a lot going on that's not actually being dealt with in any way, Gwen completely dropped the ball on communicating why she'd cut back the time she was spending hanging out after the accident which fed into the doubts and fears, but it was because she was trying to help and just falling into what seems to be a Tennyson trap of focusing so hard on what you think being helpful and supportive looks like you rocket right passed what would actually be helpful and supportive.

And it is a Tennyson thing, I'm fairly certain. We see it in Verdona's premiere, where Gwen's parents and Ben are so focused on being supportive that they don't realize that if anything they're making the whole situation harder on her. We see it in Clyde Fife, where Vera is putting so much attention into helping out at the base and sprucing it up that it doesn't register that she's hurting and making trouble for the people there. And we see it here, where Gwen is so caught up in trying to help Kevin that she doesn't realize she adding weight to his fears.

Just, if you actually sit back and look at it there's a lot going on there from both sides and so often it just gets shoved down into a 'Gwen is a saint and Kevin is flawed' hole when it's a 'Gwen is flawed and Kevin has issues' shape, which by the by is a lot more interesting as far as story and characters as well. It's the writing's fault, at heart, I know, because for some reason we weren't allowed to acknowledge any flaws Gwen might have (most likely due to the Strong Female Character problem- 'nobody can accuse us of not being able to write women if we make the woman the smartest and most right character with the fewest flaws and avoid actually focusing on her as much as possible') and Kevin always has to be the whole of the issue if there's a conflict between them, but gods there is so much room for depth there.

Some time ago I created five biological sisters for Magnai Oronir. I decided to also add three brothers but recently decided to reduce that to just two brothers. Here are my Oronir OC and a little bit about them. Later I'll make a post specifically for Magnai to show some things I've noticed about his character as well as some of my own headcanon. From oldest to youngest:

Temujin - 38 Years

Temujin is Magnai's oldest brother. He specializes in archery, but is also skilled with a spear. He's the tactician of the family and is considered incredibly intelligent when it comes to war. He and Magnai get along well for the most part. They often argue about the intensity of Magnai's desire to find his Nhaama. "It will come in time, brother, if you are patient first."

Temujin is married with three children. He can be a bit of a hopeless romantic at times and loves his family dearly. This causes Magnai to become jealous of his brother's good fortune. This may be one reason why he sometimes avoids the happy-go-lucky Temujin.

He leads a band of archers that scout around the Steppe to find the best places to hunt, gather, or to provide surveillance against the threat of hostile tribes.

Khorijin - 35 Years

The oldest of Magnai's sisters, Khorijin doesn't mess around. She's taken up the axe just like her father and knows how to swing it. Quick to anger, Khorijin is a hot-head, but she's equally just as loving... she just prefers to show it in the form of a wedgie or something.

She is married and takes great pride in her young son. She primarily leads war parties with her brothers and protects the clan as they move about the Steppe. Khorijin also leads a small band of female Oronir warriors that she fondly refers to as Daughters of Azim.

Khorijin is the hardest of all on Magnai. They tend to butt heads the most and often argue loudly about everything and anything, but mostly about who is more fit to lead the Oronir.

Yesui - 33 Years

Yesui is the third oldest of Magnai's sisters. She shares a close bond with her twin brother, Tagai. Yesu was the second to marry behind Temujin and has two daughters. She is probably considered the most mature out of the bunch! Yesui is considered a second mother to most of her siblings. A bit of a mother hen at times, Magnai gets along best with Yesui despite her constant nitpicking.

Yesui's job is sheep herding. She gets up before the sun rises to give all of the other herders their assignments for the day. Yesui is very organized and managed to find a way to herd the sheep in the most efficient way possible! "Xaela are only as strong as their herd."

While she is rarely quick to anger and is less eccentric than her other sisters, Yesui still finds a way to get under Magnai's skin at times. She's also the only one to really encourage his hopeless romantic tendencies.

Tagai - 33 Years

Tagai is probably one of the quieter members of the family as well as Yesui's twin. Most aren't even quite sure how Tagai met his husband. "You never speak," they cry. Tagai may be a man of few words, but they are generally filled with wisdom and thoughtfulness. Although he can be a bit on the shy side.

He and Magnai enjoy a comfortable silence when they hunt or spar together. Tagai tries to give Magnai advice on how to find his Nhaama, but often finds that his words fall on deaf ears.

Tagai doesn't enjoy unnecessary conflict. He is happy to defend their tribe, fight in the annual Naadam, and hunt. Anything else just seems like a waste of strength to him because he deems anything else as trivial. He rolls his eyes at his siblings petty bickering.

Narengawa - 30 Years

Narengawa spends most of her mornings praying to Azim and Nhaama. She's also a skilled weaver and can be found in the markets of Reunion selling clothing and other useful items.

Narengawa is the tallest among her sisters and considered very beautiful by others in the tribe. She is happily married and has three children that she adores. Sometimes she can be a little vain and often wears brightly colored clothing she adorns with various chains and colorful stones her husband brings her.

Magnai doesn't generally get along with Narengawa. She's constantly critiquing his attire, his posture, his overall appearance, and just about anything else she can find that isn't quite up to her standards.

Chambui - 25 Years

Chambui dabbles with various different mediums and excells at magic. She takes the politics of the clan very seriously. She's generally the one who's the best with words. Reading and writing is something she is very skilled at which does tend to set her apart from her brethren.

Other than Magnai, Chambui is the most passionate about preserving their way of life. Everything she does is for the good of the Oronir. She currently is not spoken for but has several suitors waiting and willing to pledge their lives (and their blood) to her.

Chambui can normally be found performing strange rituals and occasionally commits to animal sacrifices for good harvests or to bring rain. Magnai often runs the other way when he sees Chambui coming (especially if she has a small blade)! She's always trying to cast different spells on him or get him to ingest strange things, especially before the Naadam, to "aid" him in battle.

Yisu - 23 Years

Finally, the youngest of the Oronir siblings. Yisu is the smallest and considered more soft-spoken than even Tagai. She tends to keep to herself and enjoys her solitude.

She is unwed and single as far as the tribe knows despite recent rumors spreading around Reunion of a budding friendship between herself and Sadu Dotharl.

Yisu may be considered the most mild-mannered of the sisters, but that doesn't mean she gives Magnai a pass. She does her best to give him her best courting tips, but they often backfire on Magnai, which in turn causes them to argue. "You have to try, brother!"

Yisu is an amazing cook and helps Narengawa with her weaving. Occasionally she may assist Yesui with her herding duties, but mostly she is closest to Narengawa. Yisu's sense of family is very strong and she is considered the peacekeeper of the Oronir siblings.

Pride Month - Sexuality Headcanons

Hi!!! This blog isn't dead I just am incapable of writing consistently or even like. Ever. Muse comes and goes. And I've been thinking some so I wanted to say; I ship with chemistry. Which means that if characters have a good dynamic, I'll probably ship them. However, with that being said, they obviously have their preferences! There can be exceptions because I'm here to have fun and am also very into romance but here we go.

Under a read more cause its a lot.

Basil is gay. Attracted to men. But does he really fully grasp that? Absolutely not. He's a gay mess. (It takes a specific kind of woman to catch his attention if any.) But he is very much male leaning. And he's not picky, he just has little to no clue how to showcase affection beyond bullying/bantering with them until he wants to kiss them so bad it makes him look stupid. Any time Basil manages to be smooth or charismatic, he's actually just imitating what he's read in books that he thinks someone would enjoy. Any true attempts at romance will be awkward and very fumble-ly at first until well into the relationship.

Dawson leans towards females, but he doesn't mind men. He's a soft guy and just wants to be doted on some. It's easier for women to catch his eye, but considering the way he was raised he does have a hard time accepting that he can like men. It's just a product of his time. He's a lot older than most of the cast in the movie after all, but after coming to terms with it he shares it privately among his closet peers and Basil accepts him with open arms. Yes his only friend is Basil don't judge him.

Miss Kitty is big into sexual expression. She doesn't really have a preference between men and women, its just men seem to be more interested in her. She's a hopeless romantic and it's gotten her hurt many times, so she's much more reserved while not performing. But she's tougher than she looks so don't worry about it so much.

The man you've been waiting for, Ratigan. He's bisexual! Very much male leaning, but he can honestly charm anyone he sees fit. It's a part of his excellent manipulation skills. And if he can tell you're into him, you're fucked. Because he's not the healthiest partner to have. He will use your own feelings against you to twist you around his little finger. Actually getting him to like you back means you... Have to not like him. Stay strong and pretend to be uninterested so he'll be interested. If you seem different, that's what is going to catch his attention. He's definitely the most difficult of the group to actually write shipping wise, but that also makes him the most fun. He knows the effect he has on people and that's why he takes such a keen interest in Basil; even if not romantically, he is the most different man he's ever met. And he offers the challenge that he doesn't know he even seeks out...

12. the unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them

uhhh... no one in my particular circle of people with Taste, but Jyn. not even in terms of immediate fandom disk horse, but that in the wider-off tumblr star wars cultural reception, I think that even if rogue one is remembered as that That Time SW managed to Make Another Film That Was Good, the individual characters have been kind of... swallowed up. and that's why i love her. she's such a fucking mess. she's kind of petty and mean but in the space of things feels really human and fragile and somewhere outside the sw Strong Female Character Warrior Queen thing. her introduction scene as an adult where she takes the fucking shovel and just starts swinging is one of my favorite things in sw.

i think the same could be said of a bunch of the individual characters in andor, who i deeply adore, especially cinta, vel, bix, and kleya. not that they're unpopular in the I Hate These Women Way fandom sometimes does but that you just don't really see much... about them. (i do wish things about bix's writing were different, but i am fascinated by her as a CHARACTER and the fact that not only was she part of the extremely nascent rebellion before cassian, before almost everyone we know, if you draw the lines she's probably REALLY central to the axis circuit which is.. fascinating. like because she has no reason to tell Anyone the Truth of her secret dealings, we actually know extremely little about her, and that fascinates me. also she's this woman stuck in a small town she's tied into the fabric of and that's this source of complex ennui and pain i really love seeing in genre fiction and would love to root around in some more.)

Anything which recognises the Real Fact that Rogue One AU's should be set in the 1970's and everyone should be wearing 70's fashions and there should be way more oblique mentions of bellbottoms and paisley. except arguably andor might be set in the 60's. in which case they should be wearing 60's fashions.

This might be summoning snakes into my house but... you know all the stuff i said about kidfic aus? turns out what i really dislike are bad kidfic aus! because they thing is is that i think jyn and cassian's narratives are profoundly focused on the question of What It Is to be Someone's Child, and sw in general is really interested in the questions about what it is to be someone's parent and someoen's child in extremity (how well they carry this out ESPECIALLy with women is debatable) and there's a lot of room to do some seriously interesting character study work and post-war How Do We Break These Cycles work if it's something aside from the kind of bioessentialist hey guys woman's purpose Fulfilled because she's had biological children/ narrative OR the you can tell how Healed jyn and cassian are and how Over the War is cause they have two (2) biological children in space!suburbia called lyra and galen scenario, which proliferates in fandom. basically what i'm saying is there's no weird indie movie about rey climbing into cassian's car at the Jack-Q service station to steal his potato chips and him being like WHOSE KID IS THIS i have to RETURN you so this isn't KIDNAPPING [terrible flashbacks] and rey being like nooo mister and then they go on a loopy roadtrip to find her parents when of course the answer is in the journey. also nobody's written the scenario of Ye Classic Space!Road Trip to The Beach and the kids in the back seat are like BISCUIT BARON BISCUIT BARON and cassian is squinting over the top of the steering wheel because he thinks he missed the turnoff and pulling ye old Hay Comida En La Casaaaaa but Jyn's just like actually every single Biscuit Baron in the galaxy is closed, just for today, and the only thing they sell is black coffee.

Decided to make a list of all the k-dramas I've seen (I'll probably forget a few of them) with a note, because why not?

I'M NOT A ROBOT: 4/10. First drama I ever watched, which is why it gets a higher note than 2/10. Never managed to finish it.

PINOCCHIO: 7/10, really liked it on the first watch, impossible to get through afterwards. Main lead was charming until I realised he wasn't that charming.

W: 6/10. I loved the idea and plot and drawings, but I got very lost towards the end. The main couple had potential but then what.

GOBLIN: 5/10. Never was able to finish it. Age gap made me uncomfy. The only reason I pushed through for a while was the side couple.

EXTRAORDINARY YOU: 9/10. Favorite drama, except for the last episode, and the fact that every male character except for Haru and Donghwa was pretty much despicable. I do recommend watching to see the mess the extras are up to (most scenes have the extras being so damn amazing). The main couple was cute.

MY ID IS GANGNAM BEAUTY: 9,5/10, has a very special place in my heart. It had important subjects and finally a female lead that feels more or less realistic. Also nasty misoginistic guys get knocked out or shamed so that's a plus.

LAWLESS LAWYERS: 10/10. Can do no wrong in my mind. It's fun, it has action, it has drama, it's nice -I probably idealize it thanks to it being the first drama I ever finished-.

MY NAME: 10/10. Yes. Exactly. Everything about it is a work of art. Strong subjects but it's handled well, in my opinion, and having a female lead in such an action-filled serie was so fucking good.

STRONG WOMAN DO BONG SOON: 8/10, very fun to watch (even with the dark parts). The main couple is cute, and even if some of the humor makes me go "eh?", most of it is nice.

WEIGHTLIFTING FAIRY: 8/10, way funnier and better than I expected, and I love the friendships in it, very light hearted overall.

OH MY VENUS: 0/10. Trash.

THE LEGEND OF THE BLUE SEA: 6/10, it almost got me screaming out of frustration. It's fun but also CAN SHE PLEASE USE HER BRAINCELLS FOR ONCE?

MY LOVE FROM THE STARS: 8/10, I keep going back to it. Comfort show so I am VERY biased. I do like to deny the last episode existed and live in a comfortable state of denial.

DESCENDANTS OF THE SUN: 6/10. Got stuck halfway, ended up watching the chinese counterpart instead.

LOVERS OF THE RED SKY: 9/10. It looked stunning, the storyline was addicting, I would sell my soul for the main lead.

HEALER: 8/10, better than I expected.

ZOMBIE DETECTIVE: 9,5/10, mindless fun, easy to watch.

RUGAL: 7/10, not bad.

LOVE WITH FLAWS: 3/10. Only watched for some representation. The main couple gave me headaches, I hated everyone except for a total of three characters. Not worth it.

WHEN THE CAMELLIA BLOOMS: 8/10, I don't really get the mystery part but the romance was cute and I really liked the main dude.

ITAEWON CLASS: 8/10, finally some representation! Plot was kind of messy but the women in it were badass and I liked the overall show.

WHERE STARS LAND: 5/10. Meh.

I REMEMBER YOU: 4/10, only watched for the brothers.

LET'S FIGHT GHOST: 8/10, fun to watch, light hearted, overall nice. The main couple was great to see interract and all.

ARE YOU HUMAN: 2/10, the relationship felt creepy.

HOTEL DEL LUNA: 9/10, this drama took my heart and smashed it like a piñata.

ANGEL'S LAST MISSION: LOVE: 6/10, I don't remember much from it, so it was quite forgettable.

THIRTY BUT SEVENTEEN: 8/10. Actually pretty good? The survivor's guilt in it was interesting to see, and I love found families. Some things did make me a bit uncomfortable (since you know... she still feels like she's seventeen).

WHERE YOUR EYES LINGER: 4/10. Not even fun to watch, honestly. Mention of the classic "who's the bottom" and shit like that made me want to disappear from existence.

K2: 7/10. Lots of Snow White references.

COLOR RUSH: 5/10. They had a light hearted (more or less) start and then... it went super angsty all of a sudden? Wtf?

DEVILISH CHARM: 5/10. Forgettable. Lol.

WATCHER: 9/10, interesting characters and plot, kept me captivated the whole time.

UNCONTROLLABLY FOND: 0/10. No.

GRACEFUL FAMILY: 4/10. Yes... but no.

JUST BETWEEN LOVERS: 9,5/10, very sweet, very comfortable in a way? It deals with trauma and family and relationships in such a way, it's pretty much an unforgettable drama for me. Loved it, loved the couple, loved the characters.

SELL YOUR HAUNTED HOUSE: 4/10. I forgot to care after the second episode.

TELL ME WHAT YOU SAW: 8/10, captivating, very much one of the mystery cops series where you know what it's going to be before you watch it, but still keeps you interested.

LIVE ON: 9/10, better than expected, sweet relationship.

THE GIRL WHO SAW SMELLS: 7/10. Never finished it. Plot made me confused and for what.

MY FELLOW CITIZENS: 4/10. Eh.

MEMORIST: 8/10. Once I got into it, it was very fun to watch.

KILL IT: 10/10, all time favorite, I really liked the vibe, the themes, the characters, the twists.

A PIECE OF YOUR MIND: 5/10. Really liked it at first (the main lead is freaking awesome) but then got more and more uncomfortable as it went.

THE TALE OF NODKU: 6/10. I remember it more fondly than it actually was.

HOMETOWN CHA-CHA: 5/10. I don't even know whether I liked it or not.

BEAUTY INSIDE: 7/10, I guess the message is good? I didn't get so attached to the romance, but it was okay to watch. And it introduced me to Lee Da Hee, so that's pretty nice.

EXTRAORDINARY ATTORNEY WOO: 8/10, likeable characters!

VINCENZO: 7/10, some of the moments were very fun to watch and some... meh. Way more brutal than I expected.

100 DAYS MY PRINCE: 4/10. Nearly unwatchable. The showrunners saw "hate at first sight" and ran with it.

SEARCH WWW: 7/10, main couple was so boring I skipped most of their scenes. Only watch for women supporting women and secondary couple.

CHOCOLATE: 3/10. Bo-ring.

EXTRACURRICULAR: 5/10, it felt like a fever dream.

BUSINESS PROPOSAL: 5/10. Not as fun as I was told it'd be. Cliché defying? Yeah right.

STRANGERS FROM HELL: 8/10. I like to forget it exists. I'm still scared of this drama after more than two years.

Thank You, Dana Terrace and the TOH Cast and Crew for “The Owl House”

1. For being an original story - For so many reboots, remakes, and sequels (many of them blatant cash grabs), you were a breath of fresh of air.

2. For the animation - Enough said. You had GREAT animated sequences. And you used it effectively.

3. For the characters - All of them complex, dynamic, and well-rounded. Each one getting a moment to shine. And the character development of many of them was well-handled. And the character designs were great as well.

4. For making actual strong female characters - Tying into the above, the female characters of the story were each given depth and flaws just as much as their male counterparts. And they were interesting because of that! You made them strong not by having them win ALL  the time; but by making them vulnerable, relatable, and struggling...and then overcoming it. And not being afraid to ask for help or learning that doing that wasn’t weakness. And when they messed up, they were properly called out.

5. For the casual representation - Either through LGBT, racial, disability, gender, etc. You (not Disney execs, and I still say fuck them). You weren’t afraid or deterred. And you didn’t make it their whole personality. Yes, it’s a part of them but not all of them.

6. For the lessons - Value in friendship/family, choosing your own path, fighting unfair systems, unlearning toxic attitudes, apologizing for wrongdoing, gaining loved one not through changing yourself or by force but by simply being yourself; things won’t just come to you, you have to work on it; while there are people worth befriending there are some who won’t change their cruel ways and you shouldn’t bother with them; forgiving yourself for your mistakes; finding something that you are truly passionate about, not something you were forced to like. I can go on and on.

7. For the three specials - You were screwed over by Disney (again, fuck them) and yet you were able to make it work. You managed to give a great and widely acclaimed ending despite the unfairness. And while you couldn’t do all the subplots you wanted, that’s not you fault (again, fuck Disney). And even you pulled it off beautifully.

8. For the music - Just that. You had great music

9. For the humor - I can’t keep track of the MANY funny moments from the show I loved.

10. For the worldbuilding - Consistent. A simple magic system. All of it was good.

11. For the maturity- You didn’t coddle your audience. You respected them. You managed to tell a story dealing with numerous and heavy themes without being edgelord dark. And no matter what some idiot exec or hypocritical parent said, the fact that you didn’t dumb it down, makes it even more memorable.

12. For avoiding these tropes - The Chosen One, the disabled get rid of their disability, the MC turns out to be secretly from royal whatever, the bad guy gets a sob story that magically excuses their behavior, the magic system is broken despite clearly stating the rules at the start, etc. Now while I don’t have a problem with SOME of these tropes (that being The Chosen One, MC secretly from royalty), you avoiding them made TOH more interesting and subversive.

And just thank you in general for you hard work, sacrifice, love of the show, and putting up with bullshit from Disney and homophobic “fans”. I truly hope you and the crew do something else you love in the near future.

• Origin story: She moved away from Australia to Megapolis to have a fresh start later she began being mentored by Macaque at first she was a test for his plan against Mk but he ended up taking it seriously and officially began trained her and building a bond (slowly) after the fight with Mk Macaque tasked her to “befriend” Mk to spy on him she was worried she might get to attached to Mk but Macaque told her to ditch of she felt like she was getting any feelings.

So around season 2 Vick befriended Mk and Mei she mostly stood in the background and didn’t mess with the adventures she ended up getting a long with Pigsy and while that was happening she updated Macaque on what’s happening with Mk at the shadow play episode is where Macaque revealed to Mk that Vick was spying on him and the three fought a little.

Outside Macaque told Vick to head home and rest up and he went to get the lantern (we all know what happened there)

But skip to season 3 and Vick teamed with Mk to defeat Lady bone demon while it took a while they soon got along again after a deep talk and apologies Vick mostly keeping her interactions with Wukong very short during the journey but they get on good terms later mostly just annoying eachother.

First Impression: Tomo-chan is a Girl!

Tomo-chan is a girl who wastes no time. It’s her first year of high school and the cherry trees are still in full bloom when she confesses her love to Jun! Only, as it turns out, Tomo-chan has done nothing but waste time, as she’s been in love with her best friend for time immemorial. For his part, he still doesn’t see her as a girl. Just how much he doesn’t see her as a girl is up for debate during the first half of the episode, as the two’s comedic dialogue and slapstick interactions fail to clarify whether or not he realizes that she is, biologically speaking, female. It takes a hostile intervention from a third party, childhood friend Misuzu (who gives off strong evil genius vibes), to get Jun to acknowledge that he knows Tomo is a girl, but he remains committed to treating her like one of the guys, even if it does get him punched in the head every time he touches her in a “sports bros” kind of way. Meanwhile, there are a few other guys on the scene who are very aware of Tomo’s gender (she has a good, ahem, build), like the excitable Tanabe and cool pretty boy senpai Misaki, captain of the boys’ karate club to which Tomo belongs at school (she was too powerful for the girls’ club; they are now petrified of her). But Tomo has eyes only for Jun. How can she make him see her as potential girlfriend material, without compromising who she is? Let the hilarious antics and comedy of errors ensue!

That love confession did not go according to plan…

I expected this to be a hoot and boy, does it ever deliver! While the humor does rely a fair amount on gender stereotypes, it manages to do so in an affirming way, steering clear of sexist territory and crudity. Even the most uncensored character, Tanabe, is neither pervy nor disrespectful in his curiosity about Tomo and Jun’s relationship, which is a welcome change from a great deal of anime. Tomo is genuinely charming with her paradoxical self-confidence in who she is, and bashfulness around matters of the heart. A wholesome character arc in the making! Meanwhile, Jun’s apparent obliviousness to Tomo’s romantic potential (and intent) is more nuanced than first it seems, as his pally words and manner belie a hint of insecurity about losing his best friend. Here is promise of yet another rich character arc! And saving the best for last, there’s also Misuzu, the long-suffering friend of the pair, who at some point transmogrified into the mortal enemy of Jun, and has called dibs on being the only person with the right to mess with the two. And mess with them she does, to hilarious effect! She seems to be the most self-aware of the trio, and is certainly the most mysterious. The character designs are strong and the animation, appropriately full of energy. The voice acting is superlative, with special mention going to Rie Takahashi as Tomo (hard to believe she also voices Emilia in Re:Zero!) and the two gyarus who try to intimidate Tomo and learn pretty quickly to think better of it. All in all, this promises to be a delightfully entertaining series, with the potential for a lot of heart too. Sign me up!

The Lord of Stariel book review

I was really looking forward to this book as it seemed like a whimsical fae romance similar to Half A Soul. The biggest problem I have with this book is the MC. Usual MC are boring, whinny and self absorbed so I tend to over look them but it was impossible to do that with this book.

The MC is so weak and insecure but the whole novel was trying to play her off as an independent woman. Which make me feel like this book was written by a professional virgin because because the relationship just seem so swallow. Like does the author not have any real life experience to go from.

I felt I had to write this review after reading the other book review where they praised Hetta about being a good MC. Am I reading this wrong? Or is the bar that low for fictional female MC. Her actions spoke more than her words and through the author was trying to show her as the perfect woman, her actions show how insecure and weak of character she was.

Lets start at the beginning. Who the fuck thinks about what colour lipstick they should wear to their father's funeral. PERIOD. Well this vapid MC - Hetta.

Examples below of her weak character.

Says she doesn’t care what people think of her but worries about what colour lipstick to wear to her father’s FUNERAL. Mets the hot butler right after she arrived for father FUNERAL and worries her hair looks a mess. Wearing trouser to meet Angus because she wanted attention but then hiding her trousers from an aunt who opinion she didn’t care about. WTF.  She was strong and independent but she overheard her Aunt bitching about her and instead of just facing it uses magic to hide herself. Says she doesn’t care what people think but loves attention from hot men to validate her and cares about her appearance nonstop.

The books tries to show how badly she had been treated because of her profession as an Illusionist is looked down upon but then she calls other travelling fairs illusionist “minor illusionist”. Unlike her who had talent and training. If she didn’t like people looking down on her occupation why does she put down other people in the same profession? She wonders why hot butler takes a menial job the tone is very dismissive but hate it when she is looked down upon.

She hangs around with all men group after the funeral. Where the mean tell her “You’re the first female to say as much.” She wanted to invite her younger brother but didn’t mention her two sisters to invite them to her drinking party. Seems to be one of those women who like to hang with men because they are less drama but you know they are the ones always creating it. She was so happy Angus took her to a masculine pub where she ordered a beer instead of taking her to a dainty teashop to validate that she isn’t like other women. Hetta was always proving that she can do whatever a man can do and still be down to earth and beautiful while doing it.

Was flirting with August the lord of Penharrow but set boundaries for Wyn her butler and friend until she found out that he was a fae prince….

These example are just from the first ten chapters.

I feel like this book confuses valid criticism with oppression and uses Feminism to justify the push back. Honestly when she didn't even want to go after the estate manager who had been stealing money from the estate for years and from whom she could perhaps gotten information about the starstone. I was like perhap everyone was right and you are a terrible lord. I DNF it was just too cringy. It could have been good and the history could have been whimsical but it just came off as tacky and every time Wyn called Hetta My Star my eyes rolled back.

I can't believe there are four books in this series. It's incredibility slow moving book and nothing really happens and the mystery of who stole the starstone and made her her lord wasn't compelling at all. I do not recommend.

Tor, Baby Ruined Latias

Alright. I've introduced enough characters on this blog to play around with (and there's like, a few more that I hinted at). I think it's time to start dropping bios and information, right? So, let's start with the good bean.

"I'm not The Great Ninja or anything, but one day I want to be just as strong."

Name: Tor Species: Latias Gender: Female (pronouns: she/her) Sexuality: Heterosexual / Heteroromantic Homeworld: Ruined Kingdom FC: Miku (Darling in the Franxx)

Information:

Tor was born 500 years ago as a twin (the other being her Latios brother, Hyde), roughly 500 years after Heidi's disappearance. As such, she didn't know Heidi personally, but she heard tales and stories of her as The Great Ninja: A Latias Ninja that despised humanity but was strong enough to turn the tide of the weather war.

note: ninja didn't... really exist 1,000 years ago as they're known today. Thus, while some stories were rooted in a hint of truth, much of it were sensationalized and overblown.

While Tor and her brother did not have parents to shelter them, they remained and survived within Southern Island throughout childhood, only being occasionally visited by a Legendary Pokémon or two. When the duo eventually left, however, the world was in relative peace, allowing them to integrate with and better learn from humans.

During her time with humans, Tor learned various types of magic and psychic abilities that she carried to this day. Even now, she has superior Psychic abilities on top of her light manipulation. That being said, like all Ruined Kingdom characters, Tor does not have a Latias form.

During Ragnarök, while Tor and Hyde were unable to make it to the portal to escape the world, Melony was able to shield them and others within Turnback Cave to protect them from being killed from Friede's judgement and seal Friede, Nergal and Nyx; however, after Melony died, the protection slowly withered away, forcing her and her brother to run away.

The duo managed to escape capture or death from Nyx and Nergal for many years, but one day, Nyx spotted them and chased after them. Knowing that they would not make it out of Nyx's sight, Hyde forced Tor to run while he distracted Nyx himself. He didn't last long against her, but it was long enough for Tor to lose her.

This victory was short lived, however. Nyx did eventually find Tor after more intense searching and attempted to chase Tor to kill her too.

Tor got her lucky break when Lillie and her friends momentarily appeared within the world. Tor took the chance and latched onto Tsukuyomi before the Ultra Wormhole closed to avoid being caught by Nyx. Once at Elysium, Tor followed Lillie and Lusamine before making her way within the Aether Foundation. Now, she lives in Elysium.

Tor is a little awkward and nervous. After 100 years of trauma and anxiety, it's going to take her some time to get used to relative safety.

Tor is very clever. She always tries to find the most creative ways to solve problems. However, she is sometimes prone to overthinking.

While she may seem sweet and shy at first, when you get to know her and she feels comfortable, Tor is a little bit of a prankster. She loves to go on a mischievous streak in good fun. While she won't do anything malicious or egregious, if you're not comfortable with her pranks, then she'll be more than happy to let it go.

While Heidi stresses the Dragon typing more in her species, Tor tries to break the boundary of the Psychic typing. She frequently messes with her visibility, does telekinesis, and other Psychic things. She's not particularly strong in the dragon typing though.

The Great Ninja was her biggest inspiration. She always talks about some of her escapades and wants to be as strong as her; however, she wants to be more compassionate towards humans, especially after Ragnarök.

Tor's goal is to become as strong as The Great Ninja but also eventually re-integrate herself within human society. She loves humans and human culture and wants to both be like them and defend them in any way that she can.

Top 3 Anime I Watched in 2022

3) Occultic;Nine

Episode Count: 12

Release Year: 2016

Summary: Nine strangers with wildly different views on the supernatural are brought together by a murder... and their investigations lead them to a cult testing the boundaries between life and death.

Okay, I've got to admit, this show is kind of a mess. Its pacing is ridiculously fast. There are a few things left unanswered completely, but they do (just barely) manage to cram in an ending. There are a ton of characters and not all of them are explored super well...

But I've got to say, even with its flaws, it still made the list of my favorite shows I watched this year just based on how much I enjoyed it. I love supernatural mysteries. It could be super dark and chilling. Its opening is fucking fantastic. I watched this one back in January, and it's still a song I go back to listen to just because on a regular basis. It explores a lot of interesting ideas in that realm where science and magic intersect. And rushed as it may be, it does kind of get a happy ending.

2) Monster

Release Year: 2004

Summary: A brilliant Japanese neurosurgeon working in Germany in the 1980s is caught on the wrong side of his hospital's twisted politics. He disobeys a direct order to save someone of high social standing, choosing to operate on a young boy instead. But then that young boy grows up to be a serial killer, and Dr. Tenma-- framed for his crimes-- devotes his life to tracking the boy down and putting an end to the evil he feels responsible for creating. But in the process, he learns that the boy may not be the real monster here.

Monster is simultaneously a hidden gem-- it's a little hard to get your hands on so not as many people have seen it-- and also really highly regarded. I'd heard almost nothing but praise for this tale and the way it explores good and evil.

It's a long one. And a slow one. And it could be a little dry at times. I have to admit, I didn't particularly enjoy the experience for a lot of the first 40 episodes or so. And yet it still makes my top 3 list.

It really did pick up in the latter half, which helped. But mostly... That ending was everything I'd been promised and more. And it's really stuck with me. (This is another one I watched early into the year-- right after Occultic;Nine, actually.) The story it ends up telling is very different from the story it originally seems like it's going to be. The way my opinions on just about everything changed by the end really caught me off guard. And I love a story that makes me think.

And finally...

My absolute favorite anime I watched for the first time in 2022:

This series was literally perfect as far as I'm concerned, except for the fact that it's incomplete. The manga is actually still on-going, but it makes me want to riot that a first season that was this good never got a follow-up.
