In my excitement for A Power Unbound, I've been relistening to A Restless Truth and remembering how much I love this book, ahhhhhh.

So, the whole film of Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, and the fact that Snow is unable to erase Lucy Gray from History (as much as he tried, and he tried A LOT, twink Draco Malfoy had it bad), got me thinking: no one can erase people from history because people make echoes.

I see it in the people I love, the way they have just a tic or a way of doing things that is an echo from a dead aunt or parent, songs and films they like because of people that are no longer here, my cousin making faces in the exact way our uncle used to make because even though he was little when my uncle died, he remembers.

Because we echo through History. All of us.

Makes me wonder which of my aspects are an echo of people my parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents knew.

But coming back to the point, there's such a strength in Lucy's dubious ending because even if she is alive, it's her memory in the minds of others that makes the echo of the revolution 65 years later. It's why I love the theory that Maude Ivory is Katniss' grandmother so much: because it'd be real to assume that everything of Lucy Gray Snow sees in Katniss is an echo of Lucy's memory, stronger because we're talking about family.

Snow was delusional from the beginning. People don't fade from existence, doesn't matter how much we try to forget them. People echo.

No, you don't get it: the most tragic thing to ever happen in any of Lucy Maud Montgomery's books is that Anne would have been around 90 by the time The Lord of the Rings was published - and she would have loved it so...

And she absolutely did live to read it (look, I get to make the rules; it's canon from now on) but imagine her having access to it as a teen! Then, she definitely wasn't there to read The Silmarillion and these books were just written for her, you know...

Maude Ivory being Katniss's grandmother potentially I really enjoy. Because Katniss and her father could both sing crazy good. Just the image of the little girl Coriolanus Snow gave treats to and called sweet and they held hands walking through a meadow talking about roses and family. And Maude Ivory dedicated a special song the Ballad of Lucy Gray to him. A little girl people said he was gonna spoil her but he just wanted her to be happy. Coriolanus Snow laying down by the lake discussing colors and covey traditions while Maude Ivory sat on his stomach poking him telling him that Snow is white so he could be covey if somebody wrote him a song. That little girl whose voice got echoed by the mockingjays while Coriolanus carried her on his back to the lake ending up as the grandmother of Katniss would be so good
