The rain beat down on the glass windows of your apartment. It was currently 2:33 am and you were sound asleep, softly breathing in the tranquil of deep slumber.

Between the pitter patter of the rain hitting the windows, and the soft and gentle vrring of the air conditioning, you couldn’t help the calming sounds that kept you in a deep state of sleep.

However, the man beside you couldn’t fare the same.

Armando had been tossing and turning all night.

At one point he woke up in a cold sweat. He looked over at your sleeping form, softly snoring away and he didn’t want to bother you because he’s hates the feeling of vulnerability in any situation. So he sucked it up and tried to go back to sleep.

By now another 2 hours have passed and it’s by now you’re beginning to stir in bed. You felt the bed dip beside you but thought nothing of it, thinking Armando was just doing something, or simply sitting up in bed so you tried shifting in bed and going back to sleep.

That was until you felt a sudden dip in the bed right next to you, and then a sudden weight on your body. Your eyes shot open and you look down to see a little mop of hair in your face. It wasn’t the weight of his body on top of yours that startled you, it was the fact that your shirt was dampening as he was hiding is face in your chest.

He was crying. And he never cries.

Immediately you began to worry and sat up as he was holding onto you, following your body up. He was holding onto you so tightly that his grip was threatening to pull you back down.

“Baby..? Are you okay?” You caress his head softly as the worry in your voice was evident. He didn’t answer, opting to hold onto you tighter. “Baby please talk to me.. what’s wrong?” You scrape your fingers through his hair gently in order to calm him down.

Finally he looks up at you and you see his red watery eyes and dried tears in his cheeks, with more tears threatening to spill down them. Immediately your hands shoot up to his face and caresses his cheeks.

“Dime qué pasa bebé. Estoy aquí y te escucho.”

Finally he looks at you and holds onto you tighter. You feel his body slightly shaking and your worry continues to grow.

“..had a dream you got shot.. took a bullet for me and i just kinda.. stood there and let it happen… I didn’t react fast enough and you just dropped and I..—“ he starts and then chokes up.

“Shh baby I’m here.. I’m here with you.. I didn’t go anywhere, I didn’t die”

You caress his head and pulls him impossibly closer to you, comforting him the best you can by reassuring words and kisses, littering them all over his face. He just surrenders to your actions, wanting nothing more than just being close to you in this moment.

“Did the nightmare just happen?” You ask him. Wordlessly, he nods his head no and you can feel his body convulsing, as to hold back his tears. You gently rub his back, and proceeds to slide back down into a laying position with his head still on your chest.

Your heart ached seeing him like this.

“Should’ve woken me up babe.. you know I’d help you” you say softly into his hair, simultaneously kissing the top of his head.

“..didn’t wanna bother you” he says back.

You furrow your eyebrows at this. “You’ve never bothered me baby.. if it happens again, wake me up okay?”

He nods and hugs around your waist tighter.

This went on for a couple more minutes and you could tell it was extremely painful for him to talk about.

Everytime he’d try to explain in detail what happened in his dream, he’d get choked up again and you couldn’t stand to see him hurt so much anymore.

“You don’t have to say anything else okay? Nothing at all.. I won’t leave you by yourself.. I won’t die on you.. te prometo que” you say softly, pulling his head up from your chest with both of your hands then plants a kiss on his lips, using your thumbs to wipe away the tears escaping his eyes.

He leans into the kiss, closing his eyes and the furrowing his eyebrows, a tendency he has a lot. You pull away and he stares into your eyes.

“No puedes volver con eso mamà.. you promised”

You smile at him and then kiss him again. “I’m not going anywhere babe.. I promise.. hasta el fuego”

He finally cracks a small smile at your words, a little bit of peace comes with what you just said to him.

He rests his head back into your chest.. mimicking the same words back to you.

“Así es mamá.. hasta el fuego”

The rest of the night is filled with the same pitter pattering of the rain hitting the windows, and the gentle sound of the AC filling the space, except this time, the man you love so deeply is resting on your chest, the steady beating of your heart reassuring him that you are here, and still with him.

That you go won’t anywhere.

And you in turn use your fingers to comb through his hair, scratching his scalp gently and playing with his hair, occasionally kissing his head and caressing his body to soothe him back to sleep.

You had already made up your mind that you wouldn’t sleep until he fell asleep.

Between the beating of your heart, your touches and the rain outside, it didn’t take long for the man resting on your chest to drift away into slumber.

And you in turn smiled, happy that he can now get the rest he deserves, knowing that you won’t be going anywhere, unless it’s with him.

The sounds of shouts, strikes and falls were muffled and masked by the 80s rock music playlist that could be heard from outside. Your eyes widened and you nearly dropped the cake you were holding when you opened the dojo's door.

Just in time to watch when Hyunjin spun and struck another boy with a kick that sent him sprawling onto the tatami.

2 years of dating and a few competitions later and you still couldn’t say you were used to it. Even if he was the winner of most of them.

But you wouldn't lie, it had its perks too, like how gorgeous he looked all focused, sweaty and in his uniform. Or like he already taught you: his karategi.

It was all black and with no sleeves, so if there was a real champion here, it was you for not pouncing on him everytime he appeared dressed like that.

The boys clapped, cheering him and Hyunjin shook his head, looking down and chuckling. He was so adorable when he got all flustered like that.

You took your shoes off and kicked them behind as you stepped into the tatami, his eyes sparkled when he saw you there and he dashed in your direction. His face lit up, noticing the details of the cake.

“Ohh, look he has a buzz cut too” Felix pointed out when Hyunjin brought the cake to his friends to see. It was a square, with a little karate Hyunjin doll on top in a fighting pose.

“Thanks doll, I love it” Hyunjin smiled, handing the cake to Felix so he could hug and kiss you.

“I'm glad” You smiled at your boyfriend and then pulled away, pointing at him and the boys “Now, go clean up while I set it up”

The boys rushed to the locker room and you got yourself busy arranging everything you brought along with his cake. It didn’t take long until they came back, all freshened up but still wearing their training clothes.

Hyunjin pulled you to sit on his lap after you all sang Happy Birthday to him, and let you feed him bites of the cake. Stealing kisses between savoring the chocolate sweetness.

Some chat and lots of cake later, you offered to clean up while the boys went to change, it was pretty late already and the dojo would close soon.

You were walking out of the kitchen when Hyunjin abruptly blocked the way with his arm on the door when you were about to pass, it made you jolt in surprise.

“Jeez, jagi… you startled me” You sighed, placing a hand over your fast beating heart and he laughed.

He found it cute how easily you were startled, Hyunjin held you by your waist and leaned in to give you a little kiss, murmuring a sorry against your lips.

“I finished cleaning, we can leave now and…” You noticed everything was quiet, too quiet.

“Where are the boys? I thought they would wait for us to go celebrate” You looked over his shoulder, the dojo lights were dimmed and there was no sight of his friends. You gazed back at him and there it was… the grin.

Your heart skipped a beat instantly.

“We’ll meet them later” Hyunjin grabbed your hand, interwinning your fingers, he brought your hand to his lips, giving it a kiss and smirking.

“Right…” You murmured, letting him pull you back to the tatami.

“Now, guard up. We are gonna practice” He grinned again and totally caught you by surprise, you were expecting a kiss, but got a strike in the air instead.

“Jagiya!!” You whined after you jolted, stepping back “You almost hit me!”

"okay. what about the one where jessica rabbit has her tits out?" you shoot him a look and hit the back of his neck. "you have a shirt with jessica and her tits out?!?!" "no! I was kidding!" he kisses you. then he texts his brother: do you want the jessica rabbit shirt? (lol. no. imagine getting caught u loser.) sam responds.

two years passed. your little family was happy and "normal" (enough) scott officially OFFICIALLY moved in the year before. (started sleeping on the same bed and you shared the closet.)

a cute family photo hung above the couch. junior was on your lap and cassy was on Scotts. here and there, scott will get up in the middle of the night to admire it. he was so proud that he was able to prove himself to you. (fr this time cause #damnhewasabitch) little ho actually cries sometimes staring at the photo.. as he should.

The bedroom was bathed in soft, sunrise light. You and Austin lay side by side on the bed, your newborn twins, Layla and Leo, nestled between you. Both babies are swaddled in pastel blankets—one pink, one blue, and their tiny faces are a mirror image of Austin. The same strong jawline, the same nose, even the same beautiful blue eyes.

"I still can't believe it," you whisper, your voice filled with awe. Your hand rests gently on Layla’s head, thumb softly brushing over the silky tufts of her blonde hair. “How did we go from just the two of us to… four of us?” you let out a soft laugh, gaze brimming with tears as you look over at Austin.

He chuckles, his own hand cradling Leo. “I don’t know,” he says in his deep but also soft voice. “One moment it was just the two of us, and now…” He trails off, his eyes traveling over the two perfect little faces. "Two babies. At the same time. And they look just like me! I’m not sure if I should be flattered or scared." he jokes.

You laugh softly, nudging his shoulder. “Flattered. Definitely flattered," you look at your babies. "They’re gorgeous thanks to you.”

“And you,” he added firmly, leaning over to kiss you. "I just can’t believe it! Twins, babe. A boy and a girl. How lucky are we?"

Your smile widens. “So lucky. I mean… look at them. Look at their little noses and their tiny fingers.” You reach out to trace Leo's hand, admiring how his fingers curled instinctively around yours. “They’re so small.”

Austin nods, his voice dropping to a whisper. “They’re so perfect, Y/n.” You turn your head to meet his gaze, heart swelling at the love in his eyes. “I’m so glad we’re doing this together, Aus. I can’t imagine a better dad for these two.”

He leans closer, resting his forehead against yours. “And I can’t imagine a better mom.” His eyes flicked back to the twins. “Though I’m still wrapping my head around the fact that they look exactly like me. You might get tired of having me and two mini me's.” Austin teases. You roll your eyes playfully. “Oh, shush. I gave them the eyelashes. And probably the attitude they’ll have in a few years.”

His laugh fills the room. “Fair enough. But I already know we’re going to have our hands full with both of them.”

You two fall into a comfortable silence, the only sounds in the room are the soft breaths of Layla and Leo, and the occasional coo as one of them shifted. For a moment, you looked at Austin, who watched the babies in admiration. He fell in love with them just like you did.

Yours and Austin's heart beat in unison, filled with gratitude, love, and the feeling that this—right here—is everything you ever wanted . As Leo let out a tiny yawn, his sister wiggled closer, and both, you and Austin exchanged a look of pure joy.

“This,” Austin murmured, wrapping an arm around his wife and pulling her close, “is the best thing we’ve ever done.” You rested your head on his shoulder, gazing at your babies. “The best. And all of this is just start, Aus.”

Why do i feel like she'd be very involved during mc's whole pregnancy too, she'd want to say good morning, good bye when she has to go to preschool, good night and spending time with the babies like reading her favourite book for her brothers and feeling their movement and being so fascinated when they move and then asking a lot of questions hahaha (i mean she's zayne's child so..)

On another note do you think between the three kids, would there be any of them that would lean towards one of the parent more? A small weight climbs onto the bed and crawls toward your middle, careful and quiet. Then her voice—soft and warm with sleep—murmurs right against your belly.

“Good morning, babies.”

You open your eyes just enough to catch the top of Serena’s head as she presses her cheek gently against your bump, her fingers fanned out across the curve. Her breath is a little uneven, still waking up, and she doesn’t speak again right away. Just listens.

“I think they’re still sleeping,” she whispers after a while. “Or maybe listening.”

You smile and brush a hand through her messy hair, tucking one loose strand behind her ear. “Maybe both.”

She tilts her face like she’s giving your belly a second kiss, and then leans back to study it with that quiet reverence only she can give. Her eyes flick between your bump and your face.

“They’re getting big,” she declares with a nod, “but not too big yet.”

You laugh softly. “Not too big yet,” you echo, and let your hand settle over hers. “You always check first thing.”

“I have to,” she says matter-of-factly. “What if they’re waiting for me to say hi? It would be rude.”

She shifts forward again and rests her lips near your navel. “I’m going to preschool soon,” she tells them. “But Mummy will be here. You’ll be fine. Okay?”

Then she sits up and looks at you seriously. “Can I come back and talk to them when I get home?”

“Always,” you say, reaching up to kiss her forehead. “They already love hearing your voice.”

Serena beams, proud and quiet, and climbs off the bed with a soft grunt, ready to start her morning now that her most important morning ritual is done.

You’re still in bed, propped up on your side now.

Serena trots back into the room with her backpack bouncing behind her. Her steps are quicker than before—morning excitement catching up with her—and Zayne’s steadier footsteps follow just a few moments later.

“She packed her lunch and double-checked it,” he says mildly as he steps into view, already dressed in his usual crisp button-down and rolled sleeves. “Also inspected mine.”

“Daddy’s sandwich has enough tomatoes now,” Serena announces, very proud of herself.

“Barely,” Zayne murmurs, but the corner of his mouth twitches like he doesn’t really mind.

Serena crosses to your side of the bed and scrambles halfway up again, planting her palms carefully to avoid your belly. She leans in and gives you a kiss on the cheek, then turns to your stomach gently.

“Bye-bye, babies,” she whispers. “Be good today, and don’t push too hard if you’re kicking. Mummy needs to rest.”

You stifle a laugh behind your hand, your eyes meeting Zayne’s over her head. It still amazes you—how naturally she slipped into this role. Like she was always meant to be someone’s big sister.

Zayne is standing at the foot of the bed now, quiet—watching—but his lips curve slightly.

“Okay,” Serena says with finality, hopping down again. She scurries over to Zayne and lifts her arms automatically.

He picks her up without hesitation, like he always does, adjusting her on his hip even though she’s getting heavier by the week.

“Say goodbye, too,” she insists, tugging on the collar of his shirt.

Zayne raises an eyebrow at her, then glances down at your belly like he’s considering the request a little too seriously. “Goodbye, little ones,” he says in that low, even voice, one hand brushing gently over your bump. “Your sister’s running on a tight schedule this morning.”

“She’s not running, she’s being carried,” you point out, amused.

“Logistics,” he says, deadpan, and kisses your forehead before straightening. “We’ll see you this evening.”

Serena leans toward you as he starts toward the door, one more wave thrown dramatically over his shoulder on her behalf. “I’ll read to them later!” she calls. “My favorite book!”

Then they’re gone—soft footsteps down the hall, the front door opening and closing—and the house feels quieter but still warm.

The afternoon light spills across the floor in golden streaks, casting warmth over the quiet living room. The soft glow makes everything feel calm and cozy.

A small plate of crackers and sliced fruit sits untouched on the coffee table, a half-finished cup of tea cooling beside it. The snack is there, but you haven’t had the chance to enjoy it yet.

You’re curled on the couch, legs stretched out and a pillow tucked behind your back, one hand resting over the familiar swell of your belly. You settle in, comfort wrapping around you as the quiet stirrings of life continue inside.

The soft hum of a farming game plays from the TV, the console in your hands guiding virtual crops to grow and animals to care for. The game moves with a soothing rhythm, offering a moment of calm.

The sound of the front door opening breaks the rhythm. Serena steps inside, quiet but quick, placing her shoes neatly by the door as she shrugs off her jacket. She doesn’t speak right away—just makes a beeline for you, her steps light and purposeful.

Zayne follows behind at an even pace, setting their coats on the rack and slipping out of his shoes. “Welcome home,” you say softly as Serena drops her school bag with a soft thud and climbs onto the couch beside you, immediately curling into your side without a word.

She rests her cheek on your belly, quiet and close., still silent, then gives a careful pat, her fingers lingering in a way that feels almost reverent.

“She told Miss Lila the babies are coming soon,” Zayne mentions from the hallway, dryly amused. “And apparently gave a full report on their current bedtime story rotation.”

You lift a brow, matching his tone. “Well, someone has to keep the public informed. Our in-house PR representative is clearly taking her job seriously.”

Serena doesn’t respond to that, but she shifts slightly, casting a glance toward the shelf where her favorite picture book still sits. Her hand lingers on your belly, but her eyes are focused—hopeful.

Zayne catches the look and is already on the move, retrieving the book she left on the shelf yesterday—her current favorite, the one about the sleepy bear who can’t hibernate until he finds the perfect blanket.

“Remind me to review her press releases before she leaks anything else,” he says to you as he offers the book to Serena with a soft look.

You snort, finally pausing your game. The controller stills in your hands as Serena takes the book with both of hers.

Zayne leans in to press a kiss to your temple before quietly taking the console from your lap. He sets it aside properly, powering it down and tucking it into its charging dock. “I’ll get dinner ready,” he says softly, already heading toward the kitchen.

You put a hand to your chest, voice lilting with theatrical flair. “Oh my, thank you, good sir. However shall I repay such gallant service?”

Zayne doesn’t even look back—just rolls his eyes with a soft huff of amusement as he disappears into the kitchen, the fondness in the gesture unmistakable. Then you add, “Anything but the soup, please.”

He gives you a thumbs-up, with the most serious expression you’ve seen on him, making it all the more difficult to hold back your laugh.

Serena settles more snugly against your side as your arm curls around her, like she’s already used to the way both of you acts around each other.

“Can I read to the babies now?” she asks, her voice soft but full of that quiet determination you’ve come to recognize.

You nod, adjusting the blanket over your legs as Serena opens the book on her lap and shifts her focus to your belly. Her finger traces each word as she recites them—half reading, half reciting from memory—pausing now and then to point something out to your belly.

“That’s the bear,” she murmurs to your belly. “He’s very picky.”

From the kitchen, Zayne’s voice floats in. “Sounds like someone else we know.”

You send him a look over Serena’s head. She doesn’t react, too focused, lips moving a beat ahead of the words like she already knows what’s coming.

She pauses. Her hand stills. Then, slowly, her palm presses more firmly over your stomach

A movement. Just faint—but enough.

Her eyes widen.

“They moved,” she whispers, barely blinking. Then, to your belly: “That was you, wasn’t it?”

“They like your voice,” you say softly.

She leans in immediately, wide-eyed, both hands pressing carefully over your bump. “Was that their foot? Or their elbow?” she asks in a rush. “Can they hear me for real?”

“They can,” you say. “They probably know it’s you by now.”

Her face lights up, and leans down like she’s whispering a secret. “Hi again. I’m your sister. I’m going to read to you every day, okay?”

From the kitchen, Zayne’s voice comes lightly. “That’s a legally binding promise now.”

Serena glances up at you, then back at your belly. “Even when they’re born, I’ll still read. Even if they cry a lot.”

You blink a little harder than usual, heart tugging at the look on her face—the pure wonder, the certainty in her voice. You brush her curls back as she settles against you again. “You’re already doing a perfect job.”

She nods, content, and turns the page—soft words filling the quiet, your heartbeat steady under her cheek.

Caleb and Zayne are seated on the floor, shoulders tense and leaning forward, eyes fixed on the screen.

Zayne has a controller in hand, posture relaxed but eyes laser-focused. Caleb leans forward like the stakes are life-or-death. Between them sits Willow, eight years old and deadly serious, thumbs flying across the buttons with practiced ease.

“Papa! I told you,” she says without looking away from the screen, “I don’t need help.”

“You're welcome for the cover I gave you!” Caleb says, laughing as his character gets KO’d again.

“You ran off a cliff.”

“That was strategy.”

Normally, you’d be right there with them—controller in hand, irrationally passionate about pixels and deeply offended by Zayne’s poker-faced fighting game skills. But right now, your emotional stability is about one accidental defeat away from tears or homicide, so you’ve opted out.

Rose seems to understand. “Retired from violence, huh?” she asks quietly, smirking behind her tea.

“For now,” you murmur. “I’ll return when I can trust myself not to cry if someone picks my main before I do.”

Behind you, at the dining table, Jace and Serena are deep in a much calmer competition. Crayons and pencils sprawl across the surface, a small army of open marker caps forming a colorful battlefield. Jace is working on a very detailed picture of a robot wizard riding a dragon. Serena, meanwhile, is drawing your family.

She’s added you first, a very round version of you, which honestly feels accurate. Then herself—smiling and holding hands with two soft-edged baby blobs. Zayne’s tucked in the corner, inexplicably holding what looks like pancakes. You're not going to question it.

Serena hums under her breath, a soft, familiar tune. One Zayne used to sing when she was small, usually while brushing her hair or bouncing her to sleep in the middle of the night, and you pick it up from him as well.

She frowns down at her drawing and starts writing, lips moving as she sounds out the letters. She’s slow with it, careful. The words wobble across the page like tiny caterpillars, but they’re all hers.

“Go to sleep, my little star…” “Mommy’s here, not very far.” “Close your eyes and dream of light…” “I will hold you through the night.”

She pauses, then adds a bubble from one of the baby blobs:

“We love you, Big Sister Serena!”

Jace glances over at Serena’s drawing. “They look like potatoes.”

“They’re not potatoes,” Serena huffs. “They’re my baby siblings.”

“They don’t look like babies.”

“They’re in the belly! They’re not born yet! Obviously.”

You watch them bicker gently, a hand smoothing over your bump. The babies give a soft nudge in response, like they’re listening in on the gossip.

“She’s very protective,” you murmur to Rose.

“She should be,” Rose says. “She already has the attitude of a tiny bodyguard. I heard her tell a stranger at the grocery store to step back from her ‘siblings in progress.’”

“She’s serious about it,” you admit with a soft laugh, your eyes wandering as you continue.

“Every morning, she says good morning to them before brushing her teeth. And at preschool drop-off, she kisses both sides of my belly just in case they’ve moved overnight.”

“You’re not gonna survive once they’re all walking.”

“Don’t remind me.”

Across the room, Zayne lets out a rare laugh as Caleb makes some dramatic “final stand” declaration—and promptly loses. Again.

“She beat both of us,” Caleb says, defeated.

Willow beams. “Papa’s strategy is bad.”

“Yeah, yeah…”

You close your eyes for a moment and listen. Willow is joining Serena and Jace now, and the three are soon comparing crown designs for the baby blobs, Jace is adding a tiny bird in the corner of his page.

Caleb lets out a triumphant cheer as he finally wins in another rematch against Zayne, whose only response is a huff, and Rose shifts closer to bump your shoulder in a quiet gesture of companionship.

The day couldn’t end much better than this.

The day winds down slowly, like a music box running out of spin.

Caleb, Rose, and the kids leave just after dinner—hugs and waves and promises of a rematch already being made before they even reach the door. Serena looks a little reluctant to let go of Willow and Jace, but exhaustion is creeping into her every blink, so she doesn’t protest when Zayne scoops her up to carry her to bed.

Her soft voice echoes down the hallway as they disappear. “Good night, Daddy. Good night, Mummy. Good night, babies.”

The house feels quieter without the extra bodies, but not empty. Just peaceful. Settled.

Later, the lights are dim, the house finally still, and you’re lying in bed with your head sunk into the pillow, the weight of the day pressing pleasantly into your limbs. Zayne is in the shower, humming something under his breath—something soft and familiar.

Beside you, Serena stirs.

She’d come back not long after she’s gone to her room and asked to sleep with you tonight, and you hadn’t hesitated to say yes. Maybe it’s the quiet after the busy day, or the way she clung a little tighter during her goodnight hug. Either way, you couldn’t say no. Not when she whispered, “I think the babies like it when I’m close.”

Now she shifts under the covers, wriggling over until her forehead touches the curve of your belly. Her hands spread wide over the bump, as if trying to feel everything at once.

“Are they sleeping?” she whispers.

“They might be,” you murmur back.

“They were listening earlier,” she says, confident. “When I was drawing. When I sang.”

“I know,” you smile, brushing her hair back from her forehead. “They really liked it.”

“I can sing it again.”

You nod, eyes soft, and she closes hers, voice barely above a breath.

“Go to sleep, my little star…” “Mommy’s here, not very far.” “Close your eyes and dream of light…” “I will hold you through the night…”

Her voice falters on the last line, but she hums the rest, lips pressed to your belly, lashes fluttering. And you realize she’s fighting to stay awake. Just for them.

You don’t say anything. You let the quiet stretch and hold the moment steady, your palm covering hers, your other hand stroking her hair in a rhythm so slow it could be mistaken for stillness.

You glance up as the door opens. Zayne steps inside, towel draped over his shoulders, hair damp and sticking to his forehead. He pauses when he sees the scene—Serena curled up against your bump, one hand still resting over it, eyelids fluttering.

Your eyes meet his. No words are needed.

He crosses the room slowly, quietly, bends down to press a kiss to Serena’s head, then to your lips. “Need anything?” he murmurs, voice low so he won’t disturb her.

“Just this,” you whisper.

He brushes his fingers along your arm before moving around to the other side of the bed and slipping in behind you. His arm curves around your waist, his hand overlapping yours where it rests over Serena’s.

The three of you breathe in time for a while.

The babies shift again, soft little nudges from the inside. Serena sighs, content.

“Love you, babies,” she murmurs.

And the room, just for a little while, holds all the warmth and quiet and love in the world.

You had only received the alert of the impending storm on your phone about an hour ago. After giving your weather app one last look, you sighed heavily and tossed your phone on the couch next to you.

 It wasn’t that you didn’t like the rain; you did, in fact you loved it. But, tonight was supposed to be a ladies night out with your friend. You and her had been very excited to try that new Pho place downtown and then go for drinks. You especially had been looking forward to it. 

The rain started splattering against the window, the heavy wind getting fiercer by the minute. There was no sense in getting ready for a night that wasn’t going to happen. Your friend has already canceled over an hour ago.

You thought about asking your boyfriend. He had just gotten back into town a few days ago.Jisung had been away for weeks while touring and neither of you have spent any time together. You had texted him ranting about your ruined plans and he had suggested he come over, but you would never ask him to face the storm. 

As if he knew you were thinking about him, your phone lit up with a call from ‘Sungie <3’. 

“Hey Ji, I was just thinking about you.” You answered, heart feeling heavy at having to be away from him.

“Funny enough, I’m always thinking of you, my baby.” You heard a car door slam on his end, “Your favorite kind of pho is chicken, right?” 

“Yeah, whhyyyy?” You drawled. You didn’t get an answer from him, instead you were startled when your doorbell rang. “What the fuck, you didn’t!” You hung up the phone and rushed to the door, flinging it open to find your boyfriend in all his smiling glory, with arms full with food and snacks. “Ji!” 

“Delivery for the prettiest girl in the world!” His arms were full or he would have hugged you. You took some of the stuff from his arms and stepped aside for him to enter your home. 

“What are you doing here, you crazy person?! Do you not see the insane storm that's coming in?” you chastise even though you were beaming, unable to hide your elation at seeing him in your home. You wish you knew he was coming so you could have changed out of your pjs.

“Wow there's a storm outside?” He said sarcastically, acting shocked. “I couldn’t tell.” You pushed him playfully, and he laughed. “I kinda thought that we could weather the storm together, I mean, if you want? I brought Pho from that place you wanted to try and a bunch of snacks and candy! I remember you talking about building blanket forts when you were little, so I also figured we could build one to snuggle in? I brought my string lights.” 

“Oh Ji” you wanted to cry, he was so thoughtful. He always paid the utmost attention to what you say, even absentmindedly. “This is perfect. You are perfect. Thank you my love.” You set down the bags you took from him and attacked him in a hug. 

He hugged you back just as tightly, sweeping you off the ground, “Anything for you my baby.” He set you down with a wet smooch to your forehead. You’re stuck with me until this storm is over! No girl of mine is gonna be alone with this bullshit going on outside!” You noticed he had a backpack on, those must be his clothes for a few days. As if you didn’t already have a stache of his clothes already. 

The building process was surprisingly pretty quick. Jisung had demanded you build the fort before you ate, so you can ‘eat in the ambiance and celebrate the fruits of our labor’ as he had said. You’re pretty sure the motivation came from keeping the food hot, making you both get to work. Luckily you were a blanket hoarder so you had plenty to use and pile on the floor. 

As Ji was hanging the string lights as the finishing touch you set out the food for both of you on the tray you put in the fort. He was right, it was worth the wait. It felt so magical somehow. You must have been stuck in a state of wonder for sometime because Jisung opened the side and scooted himself in, now wearing his pjs.

 “You ok there, space cadet?” He teased you, laughing when you pushed him. 

“In fact, jackass, I am more than ok.”  you set his food down in front of him while he picked something to watch on TV.  “You could even say I’m happy.” 

He chose a Ghibli movie ‘Spirited away’ (one of your favorites) then dug into his Pho. “That was my goal.” Jisung replied with his cheeks full. “I always wanna make you happy.” He said it with a shrug, as if it was no big deal. 

You were so struck with emotion at his statement, your eyes were filled with unshed tears. Here you were, with the most beautiful boy you had ever seen, sitting in a whimsical blanket fort said beautiful boy made for you, eating the food he bought and brought here for you. He braved the viscous weather for you. You couldn’t help the overflow of feelings and the tears started leaking from your eyes. What started as one tear, turned into two, turning into a full rolling stream over your cheeks. 

When you started sniffling is what finally got his attention, his head snapping over to you and he hurriedly set down his food, shuffling closer to you in panic. “What’s wrong?! Do you not like your pho?! We can switch, here take mine please don’t cry!” 

You wiped your eyes, still sniffling but smiling at his franticness, “No, it’s just that.. I love you. So much. I’m so thankful to have you. That’s all.” 

He seemed shocked at your words, his own eyes looking teary now. “Oh my baby, my lover, the apple of my eye. I love you.” He grabbed your hands in his, “ You are my inspiration. Every song I write is because of you. I see you in my dreams, and I feel you in my heart when we are apart. Every emotion I have is evoked by you. If anything, I should be thankful for you!” 

You attacked him in a tight embrace, not even trying to stop crying now. “Stooop being soooooo sappy!” you complained even though you both knew you loved it. He hugged you back just as tight, burying his face in your hair. 

It was like a release, the way both of you were able to let go of everything inside, both of you completely relaxing into each other. It was always easy to be with Jisung. You had only been together for a little over a year, but Jisung had said (you agreed) you both had to have been lovers in another life. That your fates were intertwined. He claimed it was some pact created before the dawn of time to fate you both together for eternity. Soulmates. 

You held each other until your sniffling stopped. Just taking in each other's presence. You were the first to pull away, wiping your eyes for the final tears. He gave your cheek a kiss and picked up his food, stuffing his face. You giggled at him then clicked play on the tv, and picked up your food. Thankfully it was still warm. 

The howling outside only grew stronger as the evening went on. Every so often the windows would rattle and alarm you both, but the scare only ever lasted a second. Your boyfriend had you curled into his side as you were in the middle of your second movie. The whole apartment was dark sans the string lights and the tv, it was the perfect calm to the storm outside. 

His hand was between your thighs, just keeping warm between your skin. It wasn’t a sexual act but you could feel your skin heating up at his touch anyways. In Japan, when drawing a character x OC, we sometimes use a representation without their eyes to show that the OC is a character with no particular backstory or personality (or we sometimes represent the OC as a pure white mannequin, without drawing not only the eyes but also the hair and skin colour)😌 To be honest, I've been struggling for over a year and a half now to decide whether I should or should not draw eyes on personality-less OCs 🤣🤣
