The shipping wars, the anti Aarmau community, that one time Jason called out the Anti Aarmau community which quite literally caused it to be quite literally under siege, the role plays( which were my favorite part), that crazy lowkey p*rn*graphic aphmau pictures ( usually of Garroth and Laurence or Zane and Travis) that I’m pretty sure was floating around in a fandom full of young minors and the overall toxicity (It was to the point were we had a to have a peace group “The Peace Between Aarmau And Anti-Aarmau” I think). Google + was a wild place to be

Im not gonna talk about the Jason stuff, really. Mostly just that I’m happy that things weren’t how they were assumed to be, and that she’s safe. I know a lot of people did worry about her. But, her personal life is her personal life, and now it’s just not something I concern myself with. I do think PDH should’ve portrayed the age gap differently, if it was intended to be based off of their relationship, but no one ever claimed that PDH was a masterpiece of writing.

And, focusing instead on the rest of the tiktok.

Jess has spoken before (on a livestream, I think) about how shippers made her make a big change in MCD that she didn’t like, which lead to her eventually dropping the series, so that wasn’t particularly new information. There was speculation about whether this meant that the whole aarmau storyline was a result of shippers driving her crazy, or if Aaron’s death was, and of course now I’m inclined to believe it was Aaron’s death due to the specification that it was Garmau shippers in particular.

Jess has mentioned struggles with shippers a lot, and whilst the stalking situation is newly mentioned, I really hope that her and Jason are safe, and comfortable, and so are their kids.

I see even in her comments that people are still going on that they ‘Will never forgive her for not having Garmau endgame’ which feels so insensitive considering the topic of the tiktok? I think a lot of people in the fandom, from the roleplay era specifically, are actually kind of weird with Jess when it comes to these things, and I think we need to learn a lot more sensitivity.

I’m not acting like I’m morally superior, I know I’ve been an ass in the past, but I just think, from here on out, we should probably be a bit more considerate about the things we say to Jess and the context in which we say them. Because our response to ‘Garmau shippers pressured me into doing something I didn’t like with my series so I ended it’ shouldn’t be ‘but garmau should be endgame tho 😡😡’

In mystreet I don’t mind them but I think that’s mostly because I haven’t watched mystreet is literal years so I don’t really care what goes on over there.

MCD however is a MUCH different story..

To put it frank, I hate Aarmau.

I personally am a Laurmau shipper forever and always BUT I actually started as a Garrmau shipper, not really sure when that changed it just kinda did. But yk what I’ve always despised? Aarmau. Even as a kid I found him boring and off putting, and when he and Aphmau got together it came absolutely out of nowhere. I was devastated. Still am.

Aaron was just kinda shoehorned in and I feel like Jess literally just could have used Vylad as the nameless, mildly OP, strong silent guy. But no. Jason felt threatened by these silly lil block guys hitting on the silly lil block girl his wife played. And yes, Aphmau is essentially just Jess’s Y/N, but they are not the same person. Aphmau is not Jessica and Jessica is not Aphmau. But Jason needed his OC to end up with miss Mary Sue and so we got Aarmau endgame..

I’m sorry that probably sounded really snarky but honestly I don’t think I’ve ever hated a character more. Little 10 y/o me CHEERED when Aaron died.

I'm going to write down all the headcanons I remember from when I watched Phoenix drop high (which was like 7-8 years ago.) I want to preface this with that I did not and still have not gotten past Diaries season one and this series is what brought back my maladaptive daydreaming which is why these headcanons are whack and why I almost became a super senior (But I didn't 🤩)

I was so against Aarmau at the time and so deluded into Larmau that I headcanoned Aaron and Aph as step siblings, which devolved into me making Jeffory and Zenix also their siblings via adoption because they were all my fav characters during PDH. I think this was before Aaron's dad even existed directly in the plot. But I vibe with most ships now besides a few.

Dante and Gene being two of Katelyn's like 8 brothers, so I guess I was thinking Eric/Maria (this was way before the Sylvanna/Eric came into mystreet I believe). Katelyn's mom just never existed in my delulu, just Maria.

Sasha and Travis related. Yes, I only do this based on hair color. I guess little me didn't understand that siblings can have different hair or something whilst my IRL brother and I have different hair, different hair type, different eyes, he has no freckles/I have freckles.

Honestly though, I think Travis would have benefitted from Sasha as an older sibling. He would definitely still be friends with Dante, but at least Travis would be less... Travis-y... I just really hate mystreet Travis after he got out of his awkward freshman phase and I don't like Dante a whole lot if I think about his canon personality. But, I will admit, I have not watched the series in it's entirety for a while, I didn't even finish the most recent season. Maybe I will go back to revise my dislike of Travis, or to rant about him even more.

I was and still am a heavy Jefflyn shipper, but what brought me to Jefflyn was not that Aph Laurence Katelyn Jeffory prop hunt minigame that I have watched a hundred times, it was Aaron/Nicole. I don't even know how I explain that. But there was an edit I found years ago of them, so I wasn't the only crack shipper I guess (I couldn't find it 🙁). I can't even remember Nicole besides her being mentioned in a paint minigame and that mystreet date episode. But I don't know, I like fiery personality + chill personality that would go ape shit for their close peoples.

I always like childhood friends trope when it's done well. Aarmau did it well imo, and if Katelyn didn't give the most bs reason for breaking up with an SS tier man they could have been perfect.

I despised Garmau so much that I never rewatched the kiss episode after I watched it the first time, but surprisingly enough, the first fanfic I ever read on wattpad was Travmau. Like I can't explain why I hated Garroth over that 😭, he is my now type (not his mystreet voice). I can't remember if I shipped anyone with him, Lucinda, Cadenza, or pink cat girl that I can't remember the name of and I refuse to use the obvious name. Why don’t you ship it?

Where do I fucking start? There is literally so many reasons. For starters, it’s so badly written. Aaron pops in, exists for a bit, shares a sad backstory, does something nice for Aphmau, dies for Aphmau, and then Aphmau is pregnant. What the fuck. Like. Sometimes I think about him and think even Jessica hated him. I mean she killed him off before she could make her so called OTP canon? The relationship was SO tell don’t show. I remember everyone was so baffled when Aphmau started having pregnancy symptoms people tried writing it off as depression because it made no sense. Aarmau’s shippers only evidence of it being canon in MCD before the pregnancy reveal was the fact their Minecraft beds were together, and that Aarmau had just become canon in MyStreet.

And that’s just a TIP of the iceberg. Wanna get into how it’s only canon cause Jason chose that random ass character who appeared for two fucking minutes in ONE EPISODE to voice? Wanna talk about how when season 3 was in production Jason said he was in the charge of the writing and tried assuring the masses that Aaron wouldn’t return and him and Aphmau weren’t really romantic? Wanna talk about how it was the start of the Block Men being boiled down to their attraction to Block Women?

And wanna know the worst part? This fucker could’ve been interesting. He had an interesting background and personally ties to Zane Ro’Meave. The ship could’ve even been DECENT. There were DOZENS OF EPISODES BEFORE HE DIED! DOZENS OF EPISODES WHERE THEY FAILED TO BUILD ANY CHEMISTRY!

If Aaron and Aarmau has a hundred thousand haters, I’m one. If they have ten haters I’m one. If they have one hater I’m it. If there’s no haters then my anger about it caused me to have a fucking heart attack. He did one largely impactful thing to the story, and it was save garroth. And in doing that he fucking ruined that arc.

I know this turned into a fuck Aaron rant but I can’t ship something when I fucking HATE HALF OF THE SHIP! Ugh.

Literally just. Write some fucking chemistry instead of backdooring it in through a pregnancy the show did not need. Give even the shippers more to cling to than the fact it’s canon in a fucking separate universe.

So it turns out that people are actually active her in Tumblr when it comes to the Aphmau fandom so wassup okay here's the thing.

I'm a veteran aarmau shipper. I know he messed shit up in MCD but I think that's the writers doing shit not Aaron's fault specific so uhhh hmu in the asks if y'all wanna hear my headcannons or rewrite or whatever. I've seen a few people around doing little rewrites and whatnot so I figured I'd do mine while staying true to the aarmau aspect. As much as I can anyway.

So yeah rewrite aspect 1: Aaron's cold and quiet and snappish because he's greiving, not because it's his personality. Give him a healing arc. THEN have him catch feelings. He's upset he's caught feelings. Wow, being in love is shit, fuck this.

Denial. Heavy denial. I'm not in love. Nope. I'm just learning how to feel emotion's again, yeah that's totally it lol haha

Anger. Wow I'm such a shitty person. My wife and son are dead while I'm over here pining over this random really pretty and smart and intelligent and of equal status to me girl who's a lord and understands my struggles. I'm such a bad person. Fuck me.

Bargening. It's fine! I can be a little in love, I just won't say anything! It'll go away if I avoid her. If I push Laurance and Garroth her way, she'll choose one eventually and I won't be in love anymore!

Aphmau herself is less passive than in the series. She's serious and stands up for herself more, less of a damsel in distress, and he makes her laugh with sarcastic quips and quiet jokes.

Aaron knows how to knit and tailor. He used to in his spare time before everything went to shit, so he starts making Lilith Garnet clothes. He makes Aphmau a beautiful flowing dress for every day wear with leather accents to add on as armor and Aphmau treasures it greatly.

He can't cook for shit.

He only builds half their house because he's stupid and has no self preservation and almost breaks his back when he falls of the roof like a dumbass.

He finally wears a shirt after soneome gifts him one, having realized he doesn't wear one for the asthetic✨, it's because he's poor af and lost his mind to the lust for revenge and wasnt thinking of functioning for a while there.

He actually gets help when he breaks Garroth out of the Irene dimension and doesn't sacrifice himself for no fucking reason.

Garroth is salty but they learn to get along.

One day Garroth is like at least you treat her like a queen and Aaron is like wym and Garroth is like bro y'all are dating wym wym and Aaron is like we are. What.

He asks Aphmau and she's like Aaron you make me breakfast, do all the chores, kis my hand good night, every night, tuck in OUR daughter, make me breakfast in bed, and run our finances. I thought we were in a queer platonic relationship at least. We don't have to date if u dont want to but yeah I kind of assumed.

Aaron's like well shite. Did I accidentally seduce my crush. Wtf happened. What is happening.

They defeat Shad as a group toghether idk. Aphmau isn't Irene because that plotline and reveal was STUPID. She's a decendant of Irene and nothing more fuck all y'all.

I want your opinion on Kawaii Chan as a character (mystreet version) and her dynamic with Zane

ohhhh boy. okay so i won’t lie i don’t think my opinion is much different than a good handful of aphblr users, and that being:

now allow me to explain!

[real fast, i would like to say that i have not ever watched season 5 and i haven’t seen season 2 in years, so take this with a grain of salt. (i am aware to an extent about the character development she gets in season 5 and i will mention it, so don’t worry).]

to start it off simply, mystreet kawaii-chan is not an interesting character. she’s an annoying, obnoxious and stalker-y person, and that in itself is enough to make me want to turn off any episode with her in it. i’m not saying she doesn’t have potential to be a good character, because she… kind of does, if you really, really look hard enough, but the character she is that we’re given, in my opinion, isss shit.

not only is kawaii-chan the most annoying character i’ve ever come across (excluding kim because kim just takes the cake,) she’s actually a horrible influence in general. i’m going to speak from experience here. back in 2016/17, when i was first into mystreet, kc’s character made me genuinely think it was okay to ship friends in real life. and that i did, and it made manyyy people uncomfortable. and i look around and people are still doing this with kc’s influence, and that’s not good. her little “aarmau frenzie” thing she had going on was nothing more than to force watchers to consider aarmau and make her friends uncomfortable. (like, legit, kc was asked many times by aphmau to chill out on the whole aarmau thing and kc literally did nothing with that. it’s fucking awful.)

i think kc as a character was significantly more interesting character in mcd. but the moment she was thrown into mystreet, like many characters, she was done horribly dirty.

of course, i could also bring up the whole japanese anime girl stereotype, but that’s already been said so many times. just know that i agree with that as well. the uses of the whole ‘-chan’ and ‘-sama’ etc etc are actually rather inaccurately used on a general basis. (not saying all of them are, but… over time, yes, they’re just not right.) also back in the day that also influenced me and i was also using those terms on my friends anddd yikes… yeah please don’t do that.

and her character development. if i’m wrong about it, i apologize, because i’ve just heard things here and there about it. but from my understanding, her whole “kawaii-chan” persona was just that. a persona. something to make her stand out in her family. which — okay, yeah, i can see where her character could get better from here. she dials down how annoying she is after this i think, but i still don’t think that fully erases the three and a half seasons of her awful characterization. and i dunno, i just don’t like her so it’s hard for me to see her in a much better of a light :thumbs_up:

i feel like there’s much more to be said about her specifically, and yes there definitely is, but eh i don’t really like talking about her so i’m not going to go into major detail.

now for her and zane’s relationship and dynamic.

personally? whyyyy.

okay. look. i think their dynamic has a lot of potential. i just personally wouldn’t make it a romantic one. i feel like zane and kawaii-chan would be absolutely amazing friends given time, but the yin-yang dynamic was forced onto them and hard. i see the appeal, i do, but it seemed so sudden and it was mostly to just satisfy the zane-chan shippers (in my opinion). i love the idea of zane being able to open up around someone else, and based on interests alone kawaii-chan could have been that perfect person, but in the light it was given it falls flat. i can appreciate how zane helps her grow in s5 of course, but their relationship felt sudden and out of place. like why did zane even sneak her in anyways??

overall for their dynamic: yeah, okay, sure, but do it better at least.

good! fucking! jesus! finally someone else who is on the mystreet canon aarmau divorce. aarmau would’ve been a good couple if aphmau actually listened to aaron’s feelings like she did prior mystreet. (in PDH, FC, pretty much at the beginning of their relationship, even then honestly canon!aarmau wouldn’t work because of a lot of things, the abuse from derek, age gap exc.) because in those series she actually seemed to care??? like the christmas series pissed me off so bad that in my many, many drafts of writing are entire series of mystreet rewrites because i honestly want to challenge myself and see if i can make aarmau work 💀 fanfic writers usually make them worst tho, sorry for exploding your asks

THE CHRISTMAS SERIES IS SOOOOO BAD i’ll never get over it lol. and yeah i’ve never found a “reinterpretation” of aarmau i’ve liked them being an ultra generic lovey dovey couple is nauseatingly boring to me and i think any version of them as in canon should be horrible to each other (but of course with the undercurrent of them truly caring about each other, which only makes it more horrible) i think it’s a byproduct of terminal shipper brain that makes people think couples in fiction are at their best when they’re functional which is just not true at all to me! i can’t understand how anyone would like mystreet without enjoying how terrible every character is but i guess the answer is they shut off their brain and say “my canon now!!” instead of watching something that like, is what they want, which is baffling to me
