One of the benefits of having purchased a long charger is that I don’t have to hang off my bed folded at a 90 degree angle when my phone’s battery is low but on the flip side it’s almost 3am and I lay here comfortable and unfolded with my phone on low power mode at 17% and charging I can’t help feeling like it enables my screen addiction a bit

... a neurodivergent and possibly disabled high schooler who's desperately trying to make any friends or get any support from her rich neglectful family - while everyone in her school is jealous of their own imagined version of a privileged asshole version of her they made up - who deeply and platonically loves and supports the one new kid who agreed to take the time to get to know and respect her and her special interest without having to hold back her true self

unlike her, it's not great!

Be honest please, I am LITERALLY NOT OFFENDED, I know I write a lot - I just don't know when to stop. I know some of you have been suffering just because you like my writing even though it's long 🥹

I wanted to write something that would be short, quick updates but the prologue is already out of control and I don't know what to do with this now since THERE WASN'T A PLAN. Ya'll pick my fate for me this time, I can move things around as there is no outline yet we're just writing from the heart here.

you know what, I actually will talk about this because it's bothering me. The issue with focussing so heavily on syd and carmy's potential for a romantic relationship isn't that there's something inherently unintellectual about romance or whatever, it's that a lot of people seem incapable of doing that without immediately flattening the story and ignoring or intentionally misreading any and all nuance for the sake of that romance. Every scene suddenly becomes about how it impacts their relationship, every analysis is done through a romantic lens, every frame or line of dialogue becomes about finding some easter egg or hint that "proves" these people should start dating. Their dynamic is absolutely a fundamental part of this show, but if you can only see it as a will-they-won't-they, you miss so much of what the story is actually trying to say with these two.

There are good versions of this story where their relationship is romantic and there are good versions of this story where it isn't, but as soon as you decide them being together is "the point," you lose the ability to actually judge the story for what it is, not what you want it to be.

technology was just kinda overlapping you know, you didn't really stop using one kind only because there was a newer one. i used both my walkman and discman for years depending on what i wanted to listen to. some stuff was on cassette and some stuff was on cd.

that said the invention of mp3 players was a blessing. no more tangled tape. no more audio hickups on bumpy roads. the only enemy was the 256mb storage limit

I was solidly in the "when in rome, do as the romans do" camp about ascension until the paper people and Ruby committed very blatant acts of suicide. Who gives a shit about the politics surrounding ascension when characters are drowning themselves and drinking poisoned tea on screen? You cannot "um actually" your way past the fact that these are real life things people do to die, and the fact that so many people are shoving their heads up RTs ass to ignore the real world implications are disgusting
