It's not something he thinks about terribly often - no real reason to, until this moment, with an arm slung over Evan's waist and a pair of eyes blinking at him out of the darkness.
Maddie and Howie are significantly smaller than Buck and Tommy. They are. There's no denying it. The bed that probably fits the two of them neatly with plenty of room to spare is just no match for Evan's mile-long legs, their broad chests and wide shoulders. Evan's tendency to kick one leg out from under the duvet and Tommy's habit of sprawling are just no match for this perfectly normal sized bed.
He'd said so even as they were turning out lights, voices low as they bypassed the frankly laughable double in the spare room in favor of the master, and Evan had joked that it wasn't like they didn't end most nights practically on top of one another, anyway, so what did it matter if they were a little cramped?
And he'd been right - at the time. In a California king they barely used half the bed - some combination of torsos and limbs always sliding together, heads tucked under chins and legs tangled together, arms slung over waists and pillows shared between them. Six months past the argument that had tipped them straight out of the honeymoon phase and firmly into 'actually we're just like this and that's clearly not going to change' and Tommy can't think of a single night they've actually laid down to sleep and not ended up a sprawl of interconnected pieces.
And they'd made it work, even though Maddie and Howie's bed is not large enough for two 6'2" men.
It wouldn't be a problem, except for the shadow hovering just a few feet in front of a softly snoring Evan - wet eyes and messy hair and a trembling bottom lip that Tommy is sure other people also find as devastating as he does, in this moment. "I sleep with you?" Jee Yun murmurs, wiping at her snotty nose and blinking her eyes like she doesn't already know Tommy would do pretty much anything to wipe the sad little frown off her face.
It's just.
There's no fucking room in this bed. Sure, if she'd had a bad dream and gone to seek comfort from her parents, there'd have been room, but, as Tommy has come to understand, her parents are significantly smaller than he and Evan and if Tommy shifts his weight in the wrong direction the both of them are tumbling off one end of this bed.
Jee's lip trembles.
"Did you have a nightmare, bug?" Tommy asks softly, and Jee shakes her head fiercely, tucking her chin towards her chest, a hand reaching out to dig tiny hands into the duvet. Stubborn, like the rest of her family, a refusal to admit weakness he's been in an uphill battle to stomp out of her uncle for going on a year now. Evan mumbles incomprehensibly in his sleep, and Jee turns still-wet eyes on Tommy.
"I sleep here with Uncle Tommy?"
Which is not playing fair at all.
When they'd all but shoved Maddie and Howie out the door to go enjoy a long weekend, insistent that it would be easier on Jee if they watched her in her own home, Jee had been ecstatic. She'd bounced off the walls for hours, dragged Tommy around with all the resolve of a child aware she had him wrapped both figuratively and literally around her tiny little fingers (her whole hand could wrap around two of his fingers at a time), insisted on piggy back rides when it became clear that riding on either of their shoulders was just a recipe for bonked heads. She'd tired herself out before the sun had even set, and passed out with her head pillowed on Evan's thigh and one foot tucked in Tommy's armpit, the other shoved under his knee on the couch.
She'd barely stirred when Tommy swung her up into his arms and tucked her into bed, and Tommy had spent a good twenty minutes after the fact furiously reminding Evan that they were not having sex in his sisters bed.
("The biological impossibility of knocking me up aside, you know what it does to me when I see you with kids, Tommy."
"Yeah, well, let your non-existent ovaries quiver with excitement for a few more days and I'll make it up to you.")
The Uncle Tommy thing is new. As in, she's never used it before this evening, nodding off in her seat while she picked at her chicken nuggets, and maybe Tommy had gone so still when she'd murmured it that Evan had actually been a little concerned, and maybe he'd indulged her request for a third episode of Bluey because of it, but he's a grown ass man who can surely let her down gently - sweep her off her feet and tuck her back in to her own bed and sit with her until she passes out again.
Or Jee can employ an absolutely deadly combo of trembling lip and tears at the corner of her eyes and Tommy can cave like the idiot he is.
Tommy assesses the scant space on Evan's side of the bed - knee curled up towards his torso and ankle dangling off the side of the bed, a hand under his cheek as he continues to snuffle in his sleep. No go there. Tommy's flush against him, knees tucked behind Evan's, arm still settled against his waist, and at his back there's plenty of space but if Tommy rolls sideways he's got maybe six inches of leeway between himself and the end of the mattress.
Tommy sighs and rolls. Jee's face lights up. Evan snorts awake and grunts in pain as he gets an elbow to the sternum and a knobbly knee to the give of his stomach when Jee climbs right up over him to shove into the newly opened space between them.
"Jee?" comes the tired voice as Evan shuffles onto his left side to face Tommy and their new company, rubbing at his eyes and smacking his lips like he's thirsty.
"Bad dream," Tommy intones softly even as Jee settles herself between them. There's a sharp knee dangerously close to his groin and a tiny little hand fisted in his sleep shirt and a face shoved into his rib cage, and Evan is giving him that look again.
Evan rests a hand against Jee's back, fingers shifting back and forth across her shoulders while she shifts her weight to find the optimal position. Jee sighs into Tommy's shirt, hot wet breath fanning out over the little spot, and kicks a leg back at an angle that must just miss something soft of Evan's, if the look in his face is anything to go by.
She's asleep before Tommy can count to ten - out like a fucking light in the space between them.
Evan's eyes meet his. It's a conversation they've had in fits and starts for months, now - since the first time he caught sight of Evan holding a baby and nearly had a meltdown in aisle three of Trader Joe's because he'd tucked that idea away years ago.
It's one they really need to have in full. Soon.
Evan's hand shifts, fingers reaching for the bolt of Tommy's jaw, thumb pressing into his cleft and then shifting sideways. "She played you like a fiddle," Evan says, voice soft, grin going wide, and Tommy glances down at the shock of dark hair tucked between them with the sudden realization that of the two of them, Evan is gonna end up being the disciplinarian.
Christ, they're fucking screwed.
He breathes, rubs his face into the pillow, reaches up to cup Evan's hand in his palm, enjoying the stretch of heat across his cheek and jaw.
"Go back to sleep," Tommy tells him, and doesn't fight the pull of a few more hours for himself when Evan sighs and lets his eyes drift closed.

"Oh come on." Eddie whined playfully. A smirk tugged his lips as his hands danced around your waist. His chin rested on top of your shoulder as he peppered your neck in soft short kisses.
It was a beautiful summer evening and to celebrate the warm weather Maddie and Chimney invited everyone over for drinks and BBQ. The atmosphere was peaceful and everyone felt so relaxed. Kids ran around the yard as adults indulged in laughter and conversation. Moments like these you cherished with all your heart.
You noticed Eddie's eyes on you from across the table as you helped Jee-Yun with cutting up her food. Your smile unintentionally grew wider with every laugh and babble she blurted out to you.
After dinner, while everyone was still chatting away but the sun disappeared more and more in darkness, the garden was lit by beautiful garden lights and candles. Jee-Yun's head rested against your chest as you indulged further in conversation. Her eyelids became heavier as she tightly grabbed the plushie you gifted her earlier closer to her body. As you were chatting with your friends you looked up at Eddie who was talking with Buck and Chimney. He paid no mind to their conversation, only having eyes on you. He took a chug from his beer before giving you a soft smile. He was standing next to the fire pit, the sparks made his eyes shimmer.
All these years you convinced yourself and others you were terrible with kids. But now you felt caught, by your own actions, as the toddler on your lap softly snored away.
As the evening continued and it was getting more late, children were safely tucked away in bed and everyone snuggled closer to the warmth of the fire pit with beers in hand, you and Eddie managed to escape the coziness just for a second. You found each other in the kitchen, getting more drinks to continue the party outside.
As soon as you entered the dimly lit house his hands were all over you. You were both pretty drunk and you knew Eddie long enough to know he could get very touchy when intoxicated. And that's what brought you here. To this moment and conversation.
"Eddie, we talked about this." You giggled as his stubble tickled your neck. "I'm not good with kids."
"Come on baby, we both know that's a lie." He said, slightly tilting his head to prove his point. His hand still rested on your hip as the other one traced his fingers over your jaw. "You are honestly, and I mean honestly," He cupped your face, gently tilting your head so you could look at him. "One of the most beautiful and kindest people I have ever met. And I am sure that every kid will agree." Eddie smiled softly, his eyes filled with love as he looked at you.
Your eyes felt glossy after his words. No one has ever shown you so much love as him. You closed your eyes before taking a deep breath, a loving smile appearing on your lips. "I really love you Diaz, you know that right?"
"Hmh, I had a suspicion." He joked before pulling you in for a kiss.
My requests are open! :)

Sorry I need to rant for a tiny, little bit, because...
You know what I find particularly funny?
Their version of Buddie simply does not exist.
And I am not talking about how it is not canon, that is a given. But their version of it. The things they've claimed they do, or feel about each other, or think of each other.
(Disclaimer: I have my own opinion of their friendship and I do believe there are way better friendships within the show, including for Buck. But I do acknowledge they do love each other as friends and deeply care about one another. And that Chris is important for Buck. That is not up to discussion here. Okay, we can go on)
They have this whole "Buckley-Diaz is a family" that consists of Buck spending 99% of his free time at the Diaz house, of them having weekly movie nights, and of Buck taking Chris to school almost as much as Eddie does. And this is simply not true.
We do see Buck spending time at the Diaz house, of course. When he's hanging out with the Diazes (something that, might I point out, has not really happened since Season 4, as the few scenes we got of them hanging out since have been at Buck's loft - correct me if I'm wrong), helping Eddie out, in a group setting, and hiding from his sister and her helicopter babysitting. Movie nights- when is it even mentioned this is something they do weekly? Not once. And please correct me if I am wrong. Buck does not take Chris to school almost daily, not because he did after Eddie's breakdown does it mean this is a normal and usual occurrence. It doesn't mean it isn't, to be fair, but nothing in canon tells us otherwise. I will give them the zoo, however, because in canon we do have Eddie saying Buck takes Chris there all of the time.
What we got, however, was scenes showing how Buck has his own independent life. He has lots of scenes in his loft, as much as Buddies hate it, as we have never gotten an off-handed comment on how little he's spending there because he's at the Diazes all the time. We've gotten scenes of Buck reaching out to people who are not Eddie for help. And oh, of course - we have gotten scenes of his family (whether you like the Buckleys or not) having a family dinner. And guess who was not invited? Oh, right.
(We have, also, gotten enough scenes with Tommy that we know post-going official, they spend most of their free time with each other. Thank you to Bobby for also confirming this. We love you, king)
With the Diazes, we got scenes that showed how Eddie and Chris exist on their own, without needing Buck there to complete their family. We got a whole ep where Eddie was dealing with Chris's new crush, and instead of making that be a Buckley-Diaz 'family' storyline, Carla was the one accompanying Eddie and being the other adult in the situation. We can say whatever we want about the dating debacle at the end of Season 6 (I also think it was a mess, but for the way they rushed it), but Eddie did not say: oh, Chris and I are fine, we have Buck. And he did not say it because it simply would not have made sense.
And oh, I could go on and on on how the Eddie they have in Fanon is also not the one we have, but this is way too long already. Do let me know if anyone wants to hear it though. Although I will probably write it down whenever I am bored enough.
Short story very long: Buck and Eddie are good friends. They respect each other and clearly enjoy each other's company. And the show has definitely played with the concept of family for them (looking directly at the elf from season 2 here), but never too serious. Never in canon. Outside of the 118 being a family (which I am not denying), at least for me, it has always been obvious how Eddie and Chris were very valued by Buck, but his close-knit family (nuclear family, if you will) is and has always been Maddie (now extended to Jee-Yun and Chim as well), and Bobby (something he's admitted in canon, before someone comes at me for this).
Now, thankfully, we have Tommy to join in in there as well ☺️

The second time Tommy meets Philip and Margaret is not under the best of circumstances.
Maddie is wrecked with worry, Jee is confused about why her daddy can't sleep at home and why her Uncle Buck isn't here, and Tommy himself is approximately three broken Kit-Kat bars from completely snapping.
So when the Buckley parents show up at the hospital, Tommy is not in the best of moods.
"Why are you here?" Margaret says when she sees him, instead of asking "How's my son?"
"Because I'm waiting for the outcome of the surgery," Tommy says, pretty curtly, but after fourteen hours following a full shift he is about to keel over. He's seated right now, having no further energy to pace, with his elbows on his knees, his head aching from the fluorescent lights and endless activity all around him, and his heart steeled against the worst possible outcome. "I mean, it's certainly not for the ambience."
"Maddie called and told us that Howard and Evan were in the building when it collapsed," Philip says before Margaret can react to the sarcasm. "We wanted to be here for Maddie."
"For Maddie, of course it's for her," Tommy says, and he is so beyond sick with worry that he can't force aside the irritation nor hide it with civility. "She's gone home with Jee-yun. I promised to keep her updated. If you're looking for her, I suggest doing so tomorrow morning when she's had hopefully at least an hour of sleep."
Margaret glances at the light above the operating theater doors and wrings her hands. "How long has it been? I can't bear this."
Tommy doesn't even look at his watch anymore. "Fourteen hours, thereabouts. Howie's just come out two hours ago."
A whole building. A three-storey building. Howie was on the top floor, so he was freed from the rubble first. Evan was on the ground floor. The 217 and the 124 had been on the scene, Tommy flying five casualties from the wreck directly to hospital, one of whom was his friend. All the while he had to internally battle the screaming need to claw apart the debris, with his bare hands if necessary, to get his Evan out of there.
Philip hugs Margaret. "He'll survive. He's always done so, since he was a kid. You know how it is with him. Scrapes and cuts and falls. He'll come out of this without trouble."
"I can't bear waiting here," Margaret whispers again. "You know I don't like..." She shuts her eyes and shakes her head.
"I know, I know it feels like it's Daniel inside, but it isn't."
And Tommy loses it.
Logically, he knows that Philip is merely trying to reassure his wife. Logically, he knows that they are trying; the mere fact that they are in hospital to check on Evan and Howie is a statement that they are trying.
Every other part of Tommy, however, explodes with incandescent rage.
"Daniel? Daniel?! Evan's in there, fighting for his life, and you can't even focus on that?" he spits out. "The only reason why I am even talking to you is because you made Evan. You brought him to this world. And you don't deserve him. Every day I see how much he loves, how openly and how bravely he loves, and to know that you both treated him the way you did... And now you come here, to the hospital, and you talk about being here for Maddie and, and thinking about Daniel, instead of your son who could've died today!"
Taking a deep, shuddering breath, Tommy realizes that he's on his feet, his fists clenched, towering over two older persons who are shrinking away from his six foot two frame. Suddenly drained, Tommy licks his dry lips.
"Go see Howie," he says in a low voice. "You probably can't go in yet, but find out what you can to tell Maddie."
Philip clears his throat. "You'll let us know when Evan is out?"
"I'll call Maddie." Tommy sits again and stares at the wall opposite. Green. Dull, lifeless, bland hospital green. He hears the Buckleys walk away. "Philip, wait."
"Yes?"
"Sorry about the outburst. Also, you're supposed to call him Buck. Remember that."
Philip sighs again. "Of course. We'll see you later, when Ev- Buck is out of surgery."

have some of my 911 Once Upon a Time AU
* * *
"Uncle Buck-" Jee says and Buck looks down at her lap, but she wasn't looking up at him, instead her finger was pointed to the page of her storybook where a beautiful woman was laying amongst a field of flowers.
"I don't know bunny," Buck says amused. "I don't think I can fit in that dress."
"No that's you," Jee insists and she looks up at Buck then. "You but diff- differ-"
"Different?" Buck prompts and Jee nods her head smiling.
"You think I'm Beauty? And not the Beast?" Buck asks, curious now and Jee nods her head and she turns the page.
The beast in this storybook is massive. A tall creature that stands on it's hind legs. His paws are large, ending in wicked looking claws and his teeth are just as sharp. He's terrifying at first glance, but Buck has read this book with Jee before and he knows that the terrifying expression on the Beast's face softens as he finds love with Beauty.
His blue eyes, the same color as twilight, seem to shine when he looks at Beauty.
He should have wings. Buck thinks as his finger traces the illustration. It's wrong somehow, but Buck has never thought that before. The features are different, the color of his fur should be darker-
Buck shakes away the suddenly strange thoughts and Jee turns the page again.
"I've never been Beauty before?" Buck asks. In the dozens of times they've read this fairytale, Buck has been many things in their world of pretend. Dragons and Princes and Knights. He's even been Alice and everytime Jee-Yun has laughed and gone with their make believe.
She sounds so serious now.
Buck wants to ask know, he wants to know who the Beast could be - when Chimney comes in, a grim look on his face.
"Sorry Buck," Chim says as he comes into the room, wiping the grease from his forehead with a frown. "You need more than just my knowledge for the jeep. You need a proffesional."
Buck sighs, letting his head fall ontop of Jee's which makes her giggle and tell Buck that he had a heavy head. It was a little bit of a balm to the dissapointment he had in Chim not being able to get her to start.
"Is there even a mechanic in Storybrooke?" Buck asks. He's had his Jeep for years, and he's never needed help with it before, Buck can't even think of the last time he needed an oil change.
"There's one on the outskirts of town, right next to the lake. It's called Harbor," Chimney says. "Guy who runs it, he doesn't really come into town that much."
"You know him?" Buck asks and Chimney's brows furrow his gaze going distant for a moment-
"I've seen him in town," Chimney says finally, his voice more monotone then before, almost rehearsed.
Buck has a moment of thinking it strange-
"I think your jeep has enough life in her to make it out that way," Chimney explains as he goes to the kitchen to clean up. Buck kisses Jee's head before setting her down on the couch by herself and goes to follow his brother in law.
"Do you want us to come with?" Chimney asks and Buck shakes his head.
"Nah," He smiles. "Jee missed her Dad, you to should snuggle up with her," Buck suggests with a grin. "Maybe watch a movie with her."
"Yeah," Chimney says and his eyes glance over to where Jee was arranging her stuffed animals carefully by her tea set. She was quietly singing to herself in one of the many songs she would make up on the spot.
Chimney's smile turns sad and Buck follows his eyes to the picture of Maddie that hung on the wall.
Buck feels something tighten in his chest, and he reaches out and puts an arm around Chimney, hugging him close.
They don't talk about Maddie outside of telling Jee about her memory.
"Get out of here before Jee asks you to stay," Chimney jokes, pushing playfully at Buck. "I don't want to lose my snuggle bunny for the night."
Buck goes to say his goodbyes, giving Jee an extra big hug and promising to see her soon.
The drive there is miserable. The jeep sputters and groans on the way there and Buck repeatedly pets the dashboard and begs it to make it just a little bit further.
It's not a long drive, Storybrooke is a small town, but it's the furthest he had to drive in -
He can't remember how long.
The shop itself is unassuming, more of a large garage connected to a small house than anything else. Next to it is a small junkyard, filled with rusting cars, broken appliances and a small biplane that surprises Buck to see. He doesn't remember ever seeing a plane fly over Storybrooke.
Shaking his head away from the strange thought, Buck moves to go into the shop.
There's a thick metal door up front, and Buck would think it looked unwelcoming if it werent for the crooked open sign. He pushes at it, and the hinges move smoothly despite the weight. It's well taken care of.
Despite how the outside looks, the inside feels more welcoming. There's a small couch next to a desk that sits at the corner of the garage. The couch is well loved but clean, and Buck can imagine sitting comfortably in it, maybe even reading from one of the many books that are crammed into the book case next to the couch.
A sign says to ring the bell for service and Buck does so, tapping it three times.
He rocks on his heels, turning to look at the shelf with his hands in the pockets of his jacket, pulling the fabric in front of him.
Buck reaches out again and taps the bell.
"I heard you," A gruff voice says and Buck turns to look at the owner of the voice.
He's a tall man, as tall as Buck is himself and broad.
The man steps from the shadows, and Buck's eyes widen.
There are scars on the man's face that span further down, hidden by the collar of the man's jumper. One of them pulls at his mouth, making it look like he was frowning.
Beyond the scars though are a pair of blue eyes.
The same color as twilight.

"Naturally gravitating closer together" for buddie 🥰
hello and thank you! this sort of turned into a bobby POV ficlet and i'm not sure why?? anyway, here you go! (can be but doesn't have to be read as a continuation of this ficlet)
-
Bobby's not even sure they notice they're doing it. It's like watching a slow-motion dance across his backyard, the way they keep drifting back toward each other like celestial objects caught up in each other's gravity. Buck goes to get a pair of beers from the cooler and hands one to Eddie, who takes it and leans into his shoulder. Then they're off again, Eddie wandering over to talk to Christopher and Buck darting in to help Maddie catch Jee-Yun's party balloon before it floats off. A few minutes later, Eddie slips back into Buck's space, bumping shoulders and sipping his beer.
It's not that different from how they've always been. Bobby's not even sure he can put his finger on what's changed, only that there's an awareness to them now, an intentionality that wasn't there before.
"You've got your thinking face on," Athena remarks, slipping an arm around his waist and leaning into him. Bobby smiles and leans back.
"Just watching the party."
"Mmhm." She's quiet for a minute, sipping her drink. Bobby's quiet too, savoring the moment: the light breeze shifting the trees, the happy family gathered in his home, the familiar way his wife fits against him. Then Athena says, "You think they finally got it together? Buck and Eddie, I mean."
Bobby glances down at her. "What do you mean?"
"Bobby," she says, a fond, indulgent eye-roll in her voice.
"It's not my business."
"Mmhm. Could be your business, seeing as how they work together on your team."
He laughs, looping an arm around her hips. On the other side of the yard, Christopher has abandoned his barbeque wings for some kind of card game with Harry and Denny on the patio, and Buck and Eddie have closed the distance on the bench where he was sitting, pressed together shoulder to hip as they talk. And the thing is, Athena's not wrong. If he's seeing what he thinks he's seeing, it'll have to be his business, at least as far as HR forms go. But he remembers those early, heady days of sneaking around with Athena—kissing her behind the firetrucks, thrilling at every casual touch, drawn irresistibly into her orbit and the delight of something tender and new growing in the scorched wreckage of his personal life—and he can't quite bring himself to be a responsible fire captain about this just yet.
"I think I'm going to give them a minute," he says. "They deserve that."
Over at the bench, Buck says something that makes Eddie laugh and ruffle his hair. He leaves his hand on Buck's nape once he's done, the sort of half-casual plausibly-deniable touch that Bobby remembers pulling as a teenager in the back row of movie theaters. He doesn't mean to snort, but he can't quite help it.
"Oh, they're really not slick, are they," Athena observes mildly.
Bobby laughs. "It's new. It's exciting. I remember how that feels."
"Mm. You do, do you?"
"Yeah." He turns away from Buck and Eddie, and smiles down at his wife. "I really do."

meeting friends and family @bucktommypositivityweek
a bit of bucktommy fluff that unfolded as i wrote it
--
putting the car in park, buck checked his watch. shit, he was late. he was so late. he eyed the bags on the seat next to him and wondered if he should have bought the other two types of muffin as well. but he was so late, and today of all days, that he seriously doubted if tommy's love of cake might work in bribing his forgiveness.
but it hadn't been his fault! he couldn't just stand by when kathy went into labor right there next to the chicken nuggets! or it might have been kate, buck wasn't sure he heard her equally pregnant friend (mallory?) right the first time she'd moaned their names at him before thrusting two shopping carts containing two toddlers into buck's free hand once he'd introduced himself as a firefighter and dialed 911. then she proceeded to lean against the walgreens freezer and talk both herself and her friend through lamaze breathing, while buck clutched his phone with his shoulder and gave directions to sue blevins and at the same time tried to keep the toddler in the green bear tshirt from biting the toddler in pink, taking turns smiling encouragingly into their crying faces and the equally distressed but less snotty face of the walgreens manager.
and once he'd calmed the kids down a bit and nowak and wyatt from the 127 arrived, he couldn't just leave them to go to the hospital on their own. luckily, it didn't take very long for melanie's (?) partner to arrive, but still.
so now buck was late, by about two hours, on the evening that he and tommy had offered to babysit jee for the first time together.
remembering his own complete exhaustion after he'd spent an afternoon running around his niece that first time maddie had him watch her, buck was sure he should have bought those extra muffins.
buck didn't really know what he expected to find when he opened the door to his loft, but it definitely wasn't his niece sitting in her high chair at the kitchen island, quietly nibbling a carrot stick and staring at his boyfriend as though he was a new paw patrol character.
at a second glance, buck closed the door behind him and felt a bit like doing the same.
because tommy was holding a large piece of cucumber and two leaves of ice berg lettuce on the other side of the kitchen island and...
"...and like we said, because newton's third law of motion says that any action has an equal and opposite reaction, like when-"
"when i jump on the trampoline!" jee pulled the carrot out of her mouth to yell in excitement as tommy grinned at her in approval. buck felt a little faint.
"exactly, princess! and when the airfoil here," tommy shook the lettuce, "splits the air, the air pressure on top is smaller than on the bottom, that makes the air move faster downward and that generates lift!"
"lift!" jee yun cheered and danced in her chair, and buck had no idea whether she actually understood the lesson in beginner aviation just now, or if she just liked how tommy nodded approvingly at her as he handed her a wedge of cucumber. buck watched in disbelief as she rammed it into her mouth like a little chipmunk and grinned wide and green at his boyfriend, who couldn't possibly appreciate it for the miracle it was.
buck had been forced to pinky promise her never to include cucumbers in any of her snacks, "not even hided in yummy dip!", because they were "wet and ew".
although buck had to admit, he too would do (and had done) a lot of crazy things in order to get tommy to look and smile at him, so he couldn't blame jee yun too much for her change of heart.
he must have make some sort of a sound, because in the next instant jee was wriggling on her chair so much it was a wonder it didn't topple with her in it, and tommy was throwing his vegetable airplane model back into the salad bowl as though he'd been caught with his hand in the cookie jar.
"uncle buck! uncle buck!" jee yun yelled, interrupting his stunned staring. "this is uncle tommy!" she added when he came up to her and at her request, lifted her into his arms.
"yeah?" was the only thing buck could think to say, as he pressed a scratchy kiss against her cheek, and turned to stare some more at his gorgeous boyfriend the tips of whose ears were turning a lovely shade of pink.
"he's a pilot!" jee yun continued to cheerfully shout in his ear.
"no way!" buck gasped.
"way way!" she yelled, and then went on to explain very seriously that she shouldn't jump on the bed because she didn't have a "jet-gin" or an airfoil and so she wouldn't fly because she couldn't "genate lift". buck nodded, also very seriously, and agreed that uncle tommy was "so cool!"
"the coolest," he said as he watched tommy start to put away the groceries.
buck had a feeling that the title of the favorite uncle that he had won from albert by knowing which brand of dino chicken nuggets to buy had just been stolen but he couldn't say he minded very much.

Proposal
Request: Hi there! Would love to put in an eddie diaz request please! Eddie proposes to reader. Eddie knows he wants to do it and has a ring ready and a plan or he has the ring but just sees a perfect opportunity and takes it? Then they maybe celebrate after?? Thanks 😊
Pairing : Eddie Diaz x Reader
Tumblr media
It had been a horrible call, and the whole station knew about it. Everyone felt it in different ways. Many just stayed quiet, some going to the gym, but Eddie walked to his locker and stared at the little velvet box on the inside. Buck walked up behind him, placing his hands on Eddie’s shoulders.
“You’ve still got that thing?” Buck 6 over his shoulder, and Eddie nodded
“I’ve just never found the right time to do it” He sighed, sitting on the bench and shutting the door to hide the ring box again.
“Eddie. Do it now. God knows both you and Y/N, and well, everyone else in this station needs a little cheering up. You’re perfect for each other. You’ll never find a perfect time if you keep waiting” Buck shook his head, and Eddie looked over with a nod getting up.
Meanwhile, you were sitting upstairs sipping on a cup of coffee to relieve the stress from the call. Hen, Chimney, and Bobby sat off to the side. Eddie rushed up the stairs and over to you. You looked over as he took the coffee cup out of your hands, exciting a whine from your lips.
“You can get your coffee back in a minute, baby. I promise I just need to borrow you for a minute” He smiled, and you nodded, getting up and following him back down the stairs. Eddie walked you both to a hidden space behind the firetrucks where not a single person could see you no matter how busy it got.
“Why are you down here? You’re not planning on killing me, are you?” You joked, and he shook his head.
“I’ve been fighting about this for ages. Buck finally talked some sense into me, and I figured no time like the present” You frowned, looking at him
“It definitely sounds like you’re about to kill me” Eddie held your hands, looking into your eyes. He gently placed a kiss to your knuckles before getting down on one knee. Your frown deepened as he dropped one of your hands and reached into one of his many pockets and pulled out the small velvet box.
“Eddie, what are you doing?” You asked as he looked up at you, his hands shaking as he did.
“Of course I will” You smiled as he slid the ring on your finger. He stood up, hugging you tightly as your lips pressed together for a long kiss.
“I love you so much, Y/N. You’re the love of my life, and Christopher loves you, which also pushed my decision towards doing this because Christopher is everything to me. Well, joint number one because no one can ever beat Christopher. Now I’m blabbering” You smiled watching him.
“As I was saying. You’re the love of my life, and there’s no one else I would ever want to spend every day of my life with, and today after that call just helped me realise that even more. Y/N L/N I want to spend every day of my life with you, and I love you so much. Will you marry me?” He asked, and your hands covered your mouth as you started to tear up. You always proud yourself for not crying on shift
✰✰✰
Later that night, everyone was gathered into Bobby’s house. Bobby cooking on the grill, May, Harry, Denny, and Christopher running about and playing with each other as you sat on Eddie’s lap. His hand wrapped around your waist and head resting on your shoulder as everyone talked. Music quietly played in the background as everyone sat talking. Your hands played with Eddie’s hands as you spoke to Maddie, who was cuddling Jee-Yun, who was happily falling asleep in your arms.
Sat imagining how that could be you and Eddie in a few years. Christopher is off playing while you’re sitting cuddling your baby and Eddie at the same time.
“Are you okay, baby? You’ve gone quiet?” Eddie asked quietly, pressing a kiss to your neck just under your ear. You nodded quietly, turning your head to place a kiss to his lips
“Just imagining our future together” you whispered against his lips, and he smiled
“Oh yeah? What does that look like?” He asked
“Christopher off playing, us sat cuddling each other and our little baby” You smiled
“You want a baby?” He asked, and you nodded
“Of course I do. Do you?” You asked now just realising that the topic had never come up before
“I’d love to give Christopher a sibling” He smiled, pressing yet another kiss to your lips. Your hands wrapped around his neck and softly played with the hair at the nape of his neck. The perfect way to end the day.

HC:
There's an emergency with Chimney so Maddie leaves Jee Yun with Buck and Tommy early in the morning.
Buck and Tommy are having a ball with her and being the fun uncles.
They watch a movie and Buck falls asleep but Jee Yun is wired and wants to play with Uncle Tommy so he settles on playing make up artist with her.
Buck wakes up to see Jee Yun, now with bright purple fingers nails, painting his boyfriends nails lime green.
"Well that's a look." Buck smiles, looking at his niece and bf.
"Uncle Tommy has pretty nails like mine!"
Tommy looks just as excited as Jee Yun, "Princess Jee and I decided to have a spa day, right Princess Jee?"
"Right!"

One of the reasons I love BuckTommy/Tevan/Kinley is the new dynamic that we get to see in Buck's life. Sure, we've seen him have a-many relationships, but not one like this.
Everyone around him as someone or something else to care for that usually takes, for lack of a better word, priority over Buck in some way. Think about it: Maddie has Chimney and Jee-yun, Bobby has Athena, Hen has Karen and Denny (and now Mara), and Eddie has Christopher. His own parents even treated him as a second to Daniel. He's been told that he doesn't really have anyone outside the 118 and besides from Maddie that rings true. And the relationships outside the 118 (at least the romantic ones) never seem to end well. But then again, the partners that we did see a lot of had other priorities as well. Abby had her mother and Taylor had her career.
If go off of the little backstory that Lou has created for Tommy, it seems that Tommy doesn't have anyone or anything outside of his job that would take priority over a romantic partner. Buck has never been someone's priority, but he's already becoming Tommy's. Which is evident through Tommy showing up to that bachelor party despite being on call and showing up at the hospital directly after his shift. Buck has the chance to be treated right and I think that is so so so important.

and you won’t let it
buddie | T | 1.4K | jealous oblivious buck, pre-relationship, pining, post-canon, minor b/t, he’s so in love with eddie it makes him look stupid
It’s a beautiful day; perfect temperature, perfect company, perfect drinks, perfect food, so really, there’s no reason at all for the tight clench of Buck’s stomach.  It’s just… he’s watching Eddie, standing near the fence, away from almost everyone, a drink in hand and a smile on his face, a beautiful, bashful smile that is directed at Marcus.  Marcus, who’s a friend of Karen. Marcus, who’s tall and smart and handsome. Marcus, who’s a goddamn rocket scientist. Marcus, who paused after hugging Karen and wishing her a happy birthday, because he spotted Eddie there by plates, having a very serious discussion about ladybugs with Jee-Yun. Marcus, who’s been talking to Eddie all day, making him smile and laugh, then dragging him away from the party, so now they’re standing alone, and Buck doesn’t know what they’re saying, what they’re talking about, but Eddie’s cheeks are flushed even more than usual, his eyes are bright and glistening even as he ducks his head, staring at the glass in his hand for a long moment, and Marcus’ eyes stay on him until he’s looking up again, shrugging, as if to say what the hell, why not.  And Buck watches in abject horror as they walk toward the dancefloor, placing their glasses down on the way, then Marcus drags Eddie by the hand, spins him around, then pulls him close, and they’re both laughing, Chim and Karen cheer, then Chim pulls Maddie and Hen pulls Karen and suddenly everyone is dancing with someone, and Marcus has an arm around Eddie.  “You’re gonna break it,” Tommy says drily.
Or, Eddie dances with a guy. Buck is very normal about it actually, thank you very much.

I wanted to collect the entirety of the Denial-Verse thus far, my canon compliant fics following Tommy and Buck’s love story throughout the show. It's a character study in loneliness, belonging, what it means to be and feel loved, and what steps it takes to finally believe one can have happiness. And while it will be coming back for Season 8 and will probably have a few short stories here and there before Season 8 begins, I wanted to highlight all four of the current fics within the series.
Tumblr media
caught in this denial (tell me the day, I’ll say no more)
| Rated: M | WC: 35K | Chapters: 7 |
Summary: Tommy Kinard's life changes for the better when his old friend Chimney calls him out of the blue for help on a rescue and he meets the adorably awkward Evan "Buck" Buckley.
Excerpt:
Was this man looking down to see the hand or – no. No. Tommy knew it couldn’t be checking out. That wasn’t happening here. The guy took Tommy’s hand and shook it. Kept shaking it as he said, “Evan! Evan Buckley. Or Buck. Whatever you, uh. Want to call me is fine.” And it wouldn’t hurt to be a little friendly, could it? Evan didn’t seem to mind as Tommy leaned only a touch closer, looking into the man’s unwavering eyes as Tommy asked, “Are you sure you don’t have a preference, Evan?” That. That wasn’t blush. That wasn’t bashfulness as Evan’s eyes turned away. This had to be what Evan always sounded like as he mumbled at the ground, still shaking Tommy’s hand, “Evan’s fine.”
Tumblr media
Muay Thai and Flying Lessons
| Rated: M | WC: 45.6K | Chapters: 10 |
Summary: Tommy Kinard is dating Evan "Buck" Buckley. They're even going to a wedding together in a few weeks. Tommy's excited about this new relationship, if a little nervous. But Tommy has a good feeling about Evan, and he wants to see this through.
Excerpt:
“Wait, so if you’re not here to hang out with Eddie, who are you hanging out with?” asked Hen. Tommy. Heard the thud of someone falling down from the firetruck. And there, on the floor, faceplanted and looking drained of all energy, was Evan Buckley. “Evan?” asked Tommy.
Tumblr media
Burnt Lasagna and Slow Dances
| Rated: M | WC: 74.4K | Chapters: 15 |
Summary: Tommy Kinard now has an adorable boyfriend - Evan "Buck" Buckley. And for the first time in Tommy's life, he feels like, maybe, just maybe, this relationship might last.
Excerpt:
And all those different conversations overlapping was overwhelming. Tommy barely knew if he could untangle them, let alone take any of them in. But through all the noise and chaos, he saw Evan’s texts. EVAN: Hey EVAN: Saw that Tay interviewed you EVAN: I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen someone trip her up because of genuine honesty haha EVAN: Today was probably rough, though EVAN: I’ll pick you up, okay? Tommy smiled at that. And Tommy texted Evan back. TOMMY: It was rough TOMMY: Thank you, I’d love for you to pick me up Tommy heard the telltale ding of a cell phone… right outside the locker room. Tommy looked to the door, seeing Evan waiting there with a bouquet of flowers. Tommy’s smile grew wider.
Tumblr media
A Surprise Visit
| Rated: T | WC: 2.4k |
Summary: Tommy goes to his first pride parade as a volunteer giving out water.
Excerpt:
“Tommy!” Tommy blinked, turning to the voice as he saw Hen, Karen, Denny, Mara, Jee-Yun, and Maddie walk over. Tommy. Kind of beamed, standing up. “Hey,” said Tommy as the all came over, “What are you all doing here?” There was something adorable to Hen and Karen’s shirts. Hen’s said “I Heart My Tungsten-Iodine-Iron” and Karen’s said “I Heart My Helium-Nitrogen”. The phrases were painted on these shirts in the colors of the lesbian flag, which made Tommy chuckle once he realized that these dorks made periodic table pride shirts. Maddie and the kids didn’t have anything on for pride, much like Tommy himself, but they seemed to find the same pride pin that Tommy was gifted. Maddie raised a hand. “I might have learned from Buck that you were at the stand today, and I thought – I have the day off. Hen and Karen have the day off. Wouldn’t hurt to offer it as an option,” explained Maddie. “We haven’t gone to Pride in a while, and we knew you were working this one,” said Karen thoughtfully, smiling, “So, we thought we’d support your free water stand.”
Tumblr media
By A Thousand Cuts
| Rated: M | WC: 11.5K | Chapters: 3/3 |
Summary: Tommy Kinard has his first big fight with his boyfriend, Evan "Buck" Buckley.
Excerpt:
“I think I just had the worst shift of my life,” Tommy said as he dropped his duffle next to the door, a little – a little shocked by what had just happened to him on that shift.
Tumblr media
The Fire is Inside the House
| Rated: M | WC: 79.1K | Chapters: 14 |
Summary: Evan "Buck" Buckley is fighting a wildfire with the 118, when he sees a helicopter crash - the helicopter of his boyfriend, Tommy Kinard. It's a race against time to find Tommy before the wildfire hits the crash site.
EXCERPT:
Buck couldn’t stop smiling at Tommy. Tommy was just. Hot. And nice. And he showed up. Always. Fuck. Buck loved this guy. “What?” asked Tommy, and there was a hint of a smile there. “Nothing. I just like you driving me,” said Buck. And Buck could see that Tommy couldn’t help it, he smiled too; not quite the scrunchy kind, but that dimpled one he did. The morning was young. Buck could get his man to that scrunch nose smile. “Oh, you like a chauffeur?” asked Tommy playfully. “Only one as hot as you.” And there was the scrunch. “I only drive the hottest myself.”

I know I mostly deal in fluff but hear me out.
Imagine Tommy going down in a helicopter crash, similar in nature to the one Owen and Hen have in the crossover episode. Right down into an active forest fire, no gps, no radio, no backup. Just him and the flames and a few broken bones.
Now imagine Buck, at home, knowing Tommy is on scene at the fire upstate and keeping the news on while he does chores, cooking dinner, maybe even babysitting Jee-Yun so Maddie and Chimney can have a date night.
He has his mac and cheese half way out of the oven when the news anchor of the hour reports on the presumed death of one firefighter who went down in a helicopter just moments earlier. Ear ringing, heart racing, mind spinning as he sees the footage of the helicopter Tommy sent him a selfie in front of earlier plummeting into a flame filled valley hours away.
Before he can even stop to turn off the oven, Bobby is calling him and Hen is texting the station group chat, but all Buck can think about is his Tommy, his boyfriend dying alone in the middle of the helicopter they met inside.
And Tommy? He’s limping towards high ground, up the side of the valley away from the fire line, praying to the smoke filled sky that the casual peck he gave Evan before leaving the loft that morning wouldn’t be the last, even as the fire rages around him and his adrenaline begins to dwindle.
(Buck promptly asks Lucy a favor in getting him, Bobby, Hen, and Chim up to the fire as quick as possible and Tommy finds himself in between two boulders that shield him from the flames as the wind shifts away from him, leaving him stranded but thankfully alive for a full day before he hears the sound of some ATVs and familiar voices nearby.)

It's the jealousy fic that has no outline so it's all bits and pieces until I figure it out.
First bit here
Second bit here
--
Buck paces around his loft - well, dusting and vacuuming, but he knows what he's actually doing - until he feels like he can't be alone with his thoughts any longer. He fires a text off to his sister and she tells him to meet her outside Jee-yun's daycare, and all three of them can go to the playground for a bit for the girl to run off a little more of her energy before they go home.
Buck is happy to see his two favorite girls and Jee-yun shrieks with joy when she sees her Uncle Buck, so this is clearly a great idea. On the way to the park, Buck lets his niece ride on top of his shoulders, while Maddie strolls next to them.
At the playground there are several other kids, most of whom Jee-yun knows - Buck winces when the little girl pulled on his curls to point out her best friend - so Maddie lets her daughter play with the other children, the two Buckleys sitting on a nearby bench to watch her tear around in some incomprehensible game that seems to be tag.
"Feel better?" Maddie asks.
"Yeah," says Buck. He squeezes his sister's hand. "Thanks."
She keeps her gaze on her girl as she asks, "What's the matter?"
"Tommy and I had a fight." Buck exhales and slouches. "And it's not... It's not a small thing this time. Not like that time we were deciding between traveling for Christmas or staying here."
Maddie glances at him, her brow furrowed. "What did you fight over?"
"Eddie. Or, well, not over him. It was about the amount of time I spent with him." Buck sits up and runs a big hand through his hair, smiling when Jee-yun runs over to demand a kiss from them both, and then she sprints back to her friends. Buck's smile fades. "Tommy claims that I've spent only five hours all week with him. And, okay, I know I haven't been able to get more than a day off together with him, but that was unfair."
Always a good listener, Maddie reaches for his hand and pets it. "How was it unfair?"
"Because Eddie is alone right now and he needs me," Buck says vehemently. He blows out his cheeks and shakes his head. "He doesn't eat much, he hardly sleeps, he won't come out of his house except for work, and he refuses to go to therapy..."
Maddie squeezes his hand. "I'm sorry, Buck. I didn't know it was that bad. Did you tell anyone else?"
"About... About Eddie? Yeah, I told Frank. Because I was worried."
"Did you tell Tommy?"
Buck looks at his sister. Her big, brown eyes gaze at him, soft and nonjudgmental. Then Buck lets go of her hand so that he can bury his face in his own. "Shit. Shit shit shit shit shit."
With a long exhale, Maddie soothes down his back. "I'm guessing, from Tommy's perspective, you're spending time with Eddie because you prefer to spend time with him."
"I was so caught up with, with trying to help Eddie that I forgot... Shit. He doesn't know. He doesn't know what really happened, he just knows Chris went to stay in Texas for summer... He knows that Eddie's upset because Chris isn't around, but not all the other stuff..." Buck sits up and rubs over his mouth with his hands. "God. No wonder he's so angry and jealous."
"So what are you gonna do now?" Maddie asks.
Buck sighs. "Will I have to grovel?"
Chuckling, Maddie shakes her head. Then she waves at her daughter, who is now at the top of the slide, and claps when Jee-yun slides down without anyone having to push her. "She's so brave. And no, Buck, I don't think you'll have to grovel. But, here's the thing, go talk with Eddie, figure out how much he's okay with Tommy knowing. Then you will need to explain the situation to your boyfriend." She sighs and a wry smile crosses her face. "That's the difficult part, really."
"It is?"
"Because you know he would feel bad that he didn't understand and empathize, and you'd feel bad for making him feel bad, for burdening him with your own feelings, all while you feel responsible for Eddie and his state of mind. Which is possibly why you didn't tell Tommy in the first place, right?"
Buck shrugs. It's complicated. "Was that how you felt? When you went back to Boston?"
"That was mostly guilt, really. And I hated that I felt so bad, and I didn't want to burden Chimney with all the weight on my shoulders." She smiles at her brother. "I'm so thankful you kept checking in with me, though. Made me remember that I wasn't alone, even when I most wanted to be."
Buck hugs her and kisses the top of her head. "Thanks, Maddie. I love you."
"I love you too." She squeezes him and then lets him go. "Go see Tommy your next day off. Have a proper talk. But text something between now and then, okay? He may not acknowledge it, but I bet he is missing you."
Buck feels something stinging his eyes and he breathes in sharply, relaxing only when the feeling passes. "Yeah, I will."
Jee-yun's on the top of the slide again, so Buck takes a photo of his niece, waving and laughing, the sky a beautiful blue behind her. Then he sends it to Tommy. "Jee conquered the slide"
About ten minutes later, when Jee-yun has come back to her mother all hot and tired, Buck hears the message notification.
Tommy has replied to the photo with a ❤️.
Buck smiles to himself, and shows Maddie the text. She gives him a knowing look and tells him to carry Jee-yun on his back while she takes her daughter's school bag. It's a nice walk back to Maddie's house, and a pleasant dinner afterwards.

a prelude to falling
bucktommy - rated g - 984 words - 7.06 spec
Tommy is in so much trouble.
Across the dancefloor, Evan sways with Jee-Yun in his arms, the little girl clinging to his neck, her eyes drooping like she’s fighting sleep.
It is far, far too early to be thinking about Evan dancing with their own little girl like that, so he only indulges the thought for a second before sweeping it under a rug to be brought out at a later date.
There’s going to be a later date, if he has any say in it. And if the smile that appears on Evan’s face when they make eye contact is anything to go by, it’s a sure bet.
The song ends and Evan gently removes the koala grip Jee-Yun has on his neck and hands her off to the Buckley father. That meeting had been…interesting. Tommy hadn’t known if Evan had done the business of coming out to his parents before the wedding, but he’s guessing by the twin looks of shock on their faces when Evan had said, breezy as anything, this is my date, Tommy, that he had not.
There’s a story there. Probably several stories, most of which are likely not good. He’s familiar with that—it’s not like he doesn’t have a treasure trove of shit himself.
But the part that surprises him is that he wants to learn all those stories. And all the other stories Evan could tell him. And he wants to tell Evan all his stories too.
He’s never fallen so quickly for someone before.
Evan catches his eye again as he comes across the dancefloor. He’d changed right before the impromptu hospital wedding—Chimney in a gown and suit jacket getting pumped full of fluids for his dehydration while he said his vows, Maddie looking beautiful at his side—so he’s out of the Miami Vice getup that had seen better days by the time Tommy had deposited Chimney at the hospital. Now he’s in a suit just a shade or two lighter than navy with a pale blue dress shirt underneath.
Tommy’s doing a magnificent job of not being horny in public and is only kind of thinking about taking it off him piece by piece.
Not that they’re there yet. He’s been taking it slow both because he thinks it’s probably what Evan needs and because he’s enjoying getting to know him before tumbling into bed with him. But he’s thought about it. Of course he’s thought about it.
“Hey,” Evan says when he reaches him. It’s breathy, the word escaping on an exhale and tugging the corners of his mouth up into a smile on the way out.
Tommy is quickly learning that having Evan Buckley’s attention is something special you don’t want to let go of.
“Hey,” he says back, reaching out to tug Evan into his orbit. He’d hesitated, when they’d first reconvened at the reception once Chimney’d been discharged at the hospital, not sure how much PDA was okay with Evan in general, much less right after having unceremoniously come out to his parents, but he shouldn’t have worried. The moment other people had started filtering onto the dancefloor after the newlyweds’ first dance Evan had held a hand out and said, I believe I promised dancing and had hardly stopped touching him since.
And now is no exception. Evan lets himself be tugged in close, and then leans in for a sweet, chaste yet lingering kiss.
“What do you say we get out of here?” Evan murmurs when it’s over.
“You don’t have to help with cleanup, or anything?”
“Nope,” Evan says, popping the P. “Josh got the man of honor prize, he gets the cleanup duty.”
“Okay. Need to say bye to your sister?”
“Nah,” Buck says, grinning. “She and Chim snuck out like fifteen minutes ago.”
Tommy glances around, realizing now he hadn’t seen the flash of her white gown in a while. But then, he’d been too glued to Evan dancing with Jee-Yun to have noticed if an elephant had strode in and trampled the guests.
“What do you have in mind?” He asks, indulging himself by sliding his hands under Evan’s suit jacket to rest on his waist.
“I was thinking,” Evan starts, sliding his hands up Tommy’s chest and around to the back of his neck, only stopping when his fingers are folded together there, locking them in place, “we could go back to mine?”
Tommy raises a brow. “Yeah?”
Evan lifts and drops one shoulder in a shrug. “We could just talk. Or—” he leans in again, brushing his mouth across Tommy’s, “—do some more of this?”
Tommy shivers. Fuck. He’d seen hints of what kind of flirt Evan could be when he hadn’t really understood what he was doing, and he’d known that as soon as he’d gotten his feet under him he was going to sweep Tommy off his. It just seems like that time has come a little sooner than he’d expected.
“Yeah,” he exhales. “Yeah, let’s go.”
Evan beams at him, and his heart kicks in his chest.
He lets Evan lead him from the venue, their palms fitting together so nicely. He lets Evan kiss him at their vehicles, a little hotter, a little heavier in the semi-privacy of a dark parking lot.
And as he follows Evan’s taillights to the loft, he lets himself acknowledge that he’s a goner. He’s going to fall in love with him. He thinks his fate was sealed when Chimney showed up at the hangar with Evan and Eddie in tow.
Maybe his fate was sealed years ago, when he’d left the 118 for Harbor, opening the space Evan found his way into.
He doesn’t know. But he does know it’s the path he’s on now. All he can do now is hope Evan is on the path with him.
And the thing is? He’s pretty sure he is.

Since it seems like we are gonna be starting out season 8 with some sort of Bee related emergency here are some random ideas.
Tommy’s helicopter gets surrounded by bees causing an issue with it crashing. The 118 gets called into rescue him and we get to see Buck panic as he tries to save his boyfriend. Ends with them being very sweet in the hospital, and the rest of the 118 (minus Gerard but he doesn’t count) sending him a get well soon basket with honey in it
One of those beekeepers who brings bees to agricultural fields to pollinate has a car accident sending millions of bees into downtown LA
A bee swarm attacks the fire engine (it’s not a truck it’s an engine) and Gerard is cowering inside because he is allergic. The 911 gods look favorably upon us and have Gerard get the shit stung out of him and sent to the ER
Buck and Tommy are on a date at a bee and or honey festival, and a car accident sets loose a horde of bees and people panic causing a massive incident. Buck and Tommy end up sheltering inside somewhere with a girl who is afraid of or allergic to bees, and they have to keep her calm while help arrives, and we get to see Buck and Tommy being the girl dads they are
Jee-Yun and Mara become the girl from that one news story who had 60 thousand bees in her wall, chaos ensues as now Maddie and Chimney also have to find a new place while Bobby and Athena are looking for a place
A bee gets into one of the clean rooms at Karen’s workplace and one of her coworkers gets stung. They are allergic and Karen has to sit with them while they are trapped in the clean room and Henrietta Wilson has to come save her woman whether the 118 are with her or not (Everyone but Gerard is but this is a Gerard hate account, so they all disobey him and it causes the drama for the beginning of the season)
Gerard falls off a bee themed float and dies, it’s what he deserves
A flower parade like from Bee movie occurs and a bunch of bees get loose and hang out on the parade floats, causing a riot as people panic, the bees are chilling though (This is when Gerard falls off the float)
The Oprah Bees Bees Bees meme comes true
