#ask to tag #unreality #flash warning #art #gif #photomanipulation #ganbreeder #<- for the creatures in the first 2 gifs #horror #surrealism #liminal spaces #weirdcore #creatures #i ended up using the non-lossy versions bc they were better for the effect i wanted #+ i wanted the last one specifically to look like it was corrupting the camera kinda like radiation #but thought id still include the lossy versions cuz theyre neat #the third gif is based off a reoccuring thing from my dreams #some sort of bright white object usually a big orb or disk #that you cant look at directly bc its so bright. its like a welding arc #you can usually touch or move it #it doesnt turn red like that in the dream or glitch out the camera tho thats just for the spooky #well the glitchyness is more bc the non-lossy version compressed the gif badly #so i figured id just play into the compression effect and make it fit the mood better #honestly turned out much cooler. limitations in art etc etc

Was pondering how Mark’s rigid ass mask/lens is prob a Budget Thing (since squishy, bendy lens are pretty much a mandate for all hero animated series, like JL, BTAS, TNBA, Spider-Man, etc), and then I was slapped with a vision of Mark in a more JL/BTAS-ish style and I had to see it through. I am a genius btw.

#i had MANY thoughts while drawing my brain melted while posting so if ya have questions send 'em / ask 'em #but rapid fire: leans more into nightwing's look b/c bro's name is legit grayson + moves away from his father's sidekick/protege +#and legit has a blue and black outfit. that is soooo winking at robin (dick grayson specifically)#mark has a more casual / athletic fit and tried to keep his usual kicked puppy expression / mood #which then contrasts his more emotional (hero) side he acts upon when he's suited up as ANOTHER wink to the whole dual persona #mark does it unintentionally as he's eager to prove himself as invincible and thus more emotional/confidential/eager + feels lackluster #as just mark grayson.#but it's such a comic book trope it's interesting el show ignores the potential stakes for that + prob cause they dont focus on #villains #mark has debbie's cheek bones + pearls both so he skip the whole copy paste design tactic cartoons annoyingly use + wink at batman w/ pearl #nolan wears pink and debbie wears green b/c they have conflicting views on raising Mark but (used to?) stand on a somewhat #united front by having same collared shirt. but mark leans more on debbie's stuff visually w/ cooler colors + white shirt underneath #mark keeps his cape as another wink/nod at robins (tim drake TNBS specifically) which mimics his Dad + kid-like eagerness for hero stuff #which he gets rid off when he goes blue/black suit arc (cough cough nightwing looking ass) so just leaned MORE into it #mark has a heart on his chest because he's TRYING to do what he think he's best + emotional asf #lens/goggles are diff to keep the audiences' eye back at HIS eyes + look more ominous and predatory which the black/blue combo #already COULD do in canon but in show its just pallete swapped which ruins the more ominious look it probably intended #and doesnt really scream “OH NO! THERE'S NO GOLD! WHICH could be a marker of mark's joy vanishing!!!”#but i hope it does now but ALSO having design changes #the brainrotsreal's art tag ✧˖°:*♡#invincible rotating in my mind #mark grayson #invincible fanart #invincible #fanart #digital art #procreate art #i wish the style leaned more this way since it is messing with or TRYING to mess with some superhero tropes before it does its own thing #just straight up use nostalgia bait while it has his JL knock off #artists on tumblr

WAUGH its scary i need to do anatomy studies in general maybe #uhh havent commented on the gigi one. he was really easy to draw though lol. weirdly enough gigis style was close enough to my current one-#-that i didnt have any trouble whatsoever? and i think its the most accurate too but only because of the lineart styles being similar lol #ALSO NOT TO PLAY FAVORITES BUT FOOP ODYSSEUS IS MY FAVORITE #I LOVE HIMMM I LOVE HIS SILLY SHAPES HE LOOKS LIKE A WEIRD CAT KINDA. ayo new theory just dropped and bad news! the implications are cosmically horrifying

in the bulletin from time baby in book of bill, he says bill is a “danger to narrativity”, and that he risks the fourth wall. this kept bothering me. why reference the fourth wall here? why have time baby reference it? yeah the heaven page and shit is a bit meta, but thats just how bill talks, right? Well i was a fool

when you put “seven eyes” into the lost files site, this warning pops up from the oracle question mark? from journal three:

the therapese at the bottom translates to “set coords for dimension: r34lity”.

and putting r34lity into the website gives us this image:

the text below it reads they found a new home. those are “real” fucking images. the henchmaniacs are in our “reality”. the cryptids page might not have been a goof goof bit- they were “real”. (“real” meaning our reality in the book of bill sense of it but still our reality. is that tracking.)

none of the rest of the cast actually references us as a specific audience, or the fandom, or acts like we know them at all. the cast addresses everything they write to a mystery “reader” who needs to be saved from the book’s influence.

meanwhile, in the book of bill:

because bill’s not talking to a mystery “reader” who’s reading this book.

bill fucking sees us.

bill sees reality. REALITY reality. like this earth the one with alex hirsch and gravity falls the show and tiktok and shit. book of bill is a book in our reality for us the reader. (ie. there’s a reference to “they both reached for the gun” if you put gun in the website, which would only make sense if bill was sentient in this “reality” right now.) and someone is trying to get here to hide from him. maybe they’re already here.

I really wish that more pre-reform/pre-surak fics leaned into cyberpunk instead of going for "shirtless men with spears". Like if I'm being honest, it feels like people sometimes turn vulcans into the "noble savage" trope. Which is, I cannot stress this enough, very weird. You're writing about spacemen and you're somehow managing to be racist against native people. And like. I don't think it's deliberate, and I'm aware that this conception of vulcans has been around for decades and that many people have just kind of picked it up by osmosis, but. Like. It's not great. It is, dare I say, a little bit problematic. It also isn't at all accurate to canon? People just made that up. Because Surak died in the 4th century, just about 2000 years before canon, and do you know what his cause of death was? Radiation poisoning. When they say, "vulcans were extremely violent pre-reform, and nearly wiped themselves out," they don't mean they were having tribal battles on the backs of sehlats or whatever. They mean they were having nuclear warfare.

#also if you're in a desert you're not actually going to want to be shirtless? there's a *reason* egypt et al has long loose clothing #it's way way better for temperature control to wear things that cover your skin and are flow-y #vulcan robes aren't *hot to wear*. they're the *logical choice*. YES they cover your skin. that's a *good thing*.#they keep you from getting sunburnt. keep the direct sunlight off your skin. It's hilarious to me how much the second half of the show seemed to want Lockwood specifically to suffer. Three instances come to mind in particular: at Winkman's, at the auction, and the fight with Joplin.

Winkman's in the book: Lucy and Lockwood snoop around, get caught, get thrown out

Show: Lockwood gets ELECTRIC CHAIR TORTURED

The auction in the book: Lucy and Lockwood’s plan works fairly well. They still jump into the Thames, but all in all, it goes according to plan

Show: a DEPRAC agent with a family gets MURDERED and Lockwood has a PANIC ATTACK because he feels at fault

Fight with Joplin in the book: Lockwood has a few scrapes from the fight with the thugs, comes and saves Lucy, George, and Kipps. The gun doesn't go off.

Show: SHOOT HIM AND HOIST HIS COLLAPSED BODY UP THE CATAFALQUE

#lilac rambles #lilac goes to the movies #lockwood and co #anthony lockwood #like tbf they DO give him some cooler moments as well. the necklace scene is much sweeter and he gets to do the whole 'wanna ditch this #party with me. it's dead' thing and they generally let him be a bit more swoony for the teenagers watching #but the way they beat him to a bloody pulp on this show sjdjsnsn #queue-een's thief
