ohoho you thought I was done with tweet threads? think again
more reimob
thinkin abt that one reimob fic where mob absorbs a lust curse and the only way for him to survive is to have sex w whoever he saw first (reigen), yknow, the fic which seems to be abandoned
it leaves off with reigen convincing himself its gonna be ok, mob will (probably) be ok, and the worst thing that will happen is mob hating him and reigen accepts that as a possibility bc hey, at least he'll live?
mob is laying on the floor, writhing, grabbing at his pajamas
desperate and fully consumed by heat and desire that he doesn't know how to satiate
reigen leans over him, brushes a hand through his bangs so he can get a good look at mob
he looks like agony, desperation overflowing from him
reigen tells mob "it's going to be okay, mob"
"you're going to be okay"
he's still convincing himself with the words
the "please don't hate me" goes unsaid
he reaches down to unbutton mobs shirt, revealing smooth, pale skin with hardly any hair still. he ignores the discomfort he feels, focusing on mobs safety
mob whines as reigen slides his fingers down his abdomen, lingering just above the waistband of mobs pants, and reigen wishes the sound didn't stir something in him, deep and locked away
he keeps his eyes on mobs face as he pulls down his pants and boxers, not daring to look between the boys legs
reigen whispers again, "it's going to be okay," mostly to himself this time
he's surprised when mob responds between huffs, "you... don't. have to... shishou,"
reigen just stares at him, amazed. mob is so kind, so considerate. he knows mob heard what would happen if he didn't. mob knows this is life or death.
he takes a deep breath, "I know, mob, but I'm going to," he pauses, "I can't lose you"
mob flushes even more, somehow, and reigen pushes away the knowledge that mob definitely has feelings for him, that's a topic for some other day, when mob isn't.
dying.
he mentally waves away the word
mob will be okay
he's going through with this
he draws a breath and reaches down to grab mobs erection, ignoring the sirens in his brain, and mob lets out a sharp moan, almost painful sounding
reigen cradles his face with his other hand, "is it too much?" he asks
mobs eyes are closed tight, hands gripping at the futon. he shakes his head, though, breath leveling as he works to calm himself down
reigen nods, begins to stroke him slowly, carefully
he desperately hopes that this will be enough, but deep down he knows it won't be
(and even deeper, a tiny part of him that he refuses to acknowledge doesn't want it to be)
he shushes and whispers soft placations to mob as he works him to orgasm, mobs unfiltered groans and moans of pain and pleasure unceasing until finally, mob comes. his whole body clenches tight, curling inward
for a moment, mob simply breathes rapidly, and reigen thinks it might have worked
but another long groan leaves mob, and reigen knows it wasn't enough
picky fuckin ghost, he thinks
he doesn't want to, but he calls "ekubo, are you here"
he appears moments afterward, "I don't really want to be"
reigen only acknowledges that by nodding, "can you. find something I can use for... lubricant?" the last word a struggle to get out
ekubo grimaces, but nods
reigen wipes the sweat from mobs forehead, repeating that "its going to be okay," and "I've got you,"
ekubo returns fairly quickly with a bottle of actual lube he found in the drawers of one of the hotel rooms, and reigen thanks him, "you can leave now. I'd prefer you do"
ekubo responds in kind, giving reigen a sympathetic look before disappearing
reigen looks down at mob, still not daring to let his eyes travel downward
he uncaps the lube, making a quick decision
he squeezes some onto his fingers, bringing them around his body to his own hole
he hasn't done this (any of this, really) in a very long time, now, so he should go slow
however, mob is again writhing in pain, so he works himself open quickly. just enough. mob isn't very big anyway
he closes his eyes as he draws one leg over to the other side of mobs body, straddling him
he takes a deep breath and opens his eyes
mob is staring up at him, expression still pained, but now with a front of awe in it
part of him is relieved that mob isn't disgusted by him
he reaches down to grab mobs erection again, this time to hold it in place against him
mob shudders
reigen shudders
he slowly lowers his hips, feeling mob breach him
mob moans again, and reigen wishes that the sound didnt ring down to his groin
reigen is soon seated in mobs lap, mobs hips twitching and bucking upward erratically, chasing the heat of reigens insides
reigen lets him, trying to move in tandem with mob
it feels good, part of reigen acknowledges
another part of him shoves that part away
mob doesnt last long, even though he just came
he spills inside reigen, crying out, tensing again
this time reigen notices a nearby light flicker off and back on again
right.
he lifts himself off of mob, settling to one side again
he watches as mob calms, hoping desperately that this was it, this was enough
but sure enough, after a few moments of harsh breathing, mob whines again, clutching at his abdomen for something reigen definitely wanted to avoid
reigen sighs, drawing up the will for this
he's already done so much, but this. this he feels is different, somehow
worse
this is what would make him the monster he keeps telling himself he isn't already
the tiny part of him he doesn't want to acknowledge supplies "mob wants you, wants this" as if reigen had any inclination that the latter was true
he waved those thoughts away, focusing on the "mob will only be safe if this happens" part
he let out a long breath, grabbing again for the lube
the sound of the cap opening caused another sharp gasp from mob, who evidently knew what it meant
"it's going to be okay, mob" he repeated as he drew his slick fingers toward mobs ass, using his other hand to gently usher mob to spread his legs
mob obliged, though tense, and reigen finally failed to avoid looking down at his groin, getting a full view of mobs spread legs, his bare thighs, and, regrettably, his dick
he slowly brought his fingers to mobs ass, rubbing the muscle in small circles
mob started letting out a stream of small moans, only increasing in volume as he gently pressed his first finger in, slowly until it was all the way inside
he felt himself hardening at the sounds and the feeling of mobs insides
he gently thrusted the finger in and out of mob, until he was relaxed enough for him to add another
mobs voice only grew louder, more desperate as reigen continued carefully working mob open
reigen knew that he was objectively not particularly well endowed, but compared to mob, he definitely felt larger than usual, so he was extra diligent with this
mob was growing more desperate, though, and the words "please," "shishou," and, "inside," worked their way into his moaning
the last word in particular doing horrible things to reigens self control
he pulled his fingers free from mob, who whined from the loss of stimulation, and reached for his own dick, stroking himself until he was fully hard
the sirens in his brain grew louder, faster as he shuffled into position between mobs legs
"this should be it, mob, you'll feel better soon" he cooed at mob, cradling his face with his free hand, surprised to find tears along mobs cheeks
"mob? are you okay?" he asked, wondering if he'd gone too far
mob could hardly form words at this point, "need... shishou... hurts" were the only words reigen managed to hear
"should I stop?" reigen asked, even though he was fairly certain of the answer
mob shook his head quickly, "nnNo... please... please... inside," mob whined
reigen leaned down to press his lips to mobs temple, "okay... okay. you're gonna be okay. I'm gonna make you feel better, now"
mob groaned as reigen pressed his dick to mobs ass
"try to relax," reigen whispered as he pushed forward, sliding slowly inside of mob
it felt so fucking good, the press of mobs insides against him, the warmth radiating from him. he couldn't hold back a moan at the sensation
it really had been a long while
similarly, mob's stream of noises grew louder still, moans becoming more drawn out, more pleasured than pained
reigen pushed inside until his hips were pressed against mob, letting out another unrestrained moan
reigen gave mob a moment to adjust to him, before slowly drawing his hips back out and pressing forward again
a stream of "ohhh"s left mob at the sensation, and finally, finally mob was starting to feel the tension leaving his body
"m... more" he groaned, the word igniting the part of reigen he so desperately wanted to ignore, causing him to pull out and back in again, faster this time
he began thrusting into mob, rotating his hips in small circles as his body took over for him, reason and guilt leaving in favor of chasing the tight grip of mobs ass, the sounds he was drawing from the boy
"sh.. shishou, shishou... more" mob cried out, desperate for more stimulation
reigen obliged, speeding up, drawing further out of mob before slamming back into him, wet smacking sounds joining the streams of moans
reigen reached underneath mobs ass, lifting him slightly for a better angle, better leverage, causing a loud cry from mob
mobs hands eventually found their way to reigens back, fingernails drawing hidden red stripes along reigens clothed back, drawing the man closer to him,
"reigen... shishou... I need..." mob cut off, not really knowing what he needed
but reigen knew
reigen drew one hand back to mobs front, grabbing his dick and beginning to stroke it in time with his thrusts
mobs back arched off the bed with a loud moan, furniture clattering around them as mob started losing control, reigen unbothered by the prospect
he was focused on chasing the good feelings right now
"mob... oh, mob" he moaned, restraint leaving him, "you feel so good inside" he was starting to lose his rhythm, thrusts becoming more erratic as he chased their collective orgasms
mob groaned, "shishou, too... feels good. so good, reigen,"
mob was first, overcome with pleasure, coming again, small amounts of liquid squirting onto his stomach
reigen didn't last too much longer, not with mob clenching so tight around him. he pulled out as soon as he could, not wanting to spill inside of mob
reigen collapsed, angling himself to fall beside mob
both of them trying to catch their breath, reigen impatiently waiting for any sign that mob would be okay now
when, finally, mob moaned quietly, and reigen momentarily feared the worst, but mob was starting to breathe more evenly, stopped shaking, stopped tensing, and it was clear that it was finally done
mob was finally going to be okay
reigen felt relief wash over him, temporarily outweighing the guilt creeping back in
"oh thank god," he whispered, pulling mob into a hug, "I'm so sorry, mob, I'm-"
a snore interrupted him. mob was fast asleep
that made sense, reigen supposed, considering what mob had just endured
he could feel sleep pulling him in as well, and he figured he could properly apologize after sleeping
they slept there, still tangled in each other, uncertainty and anxieties temporarily forgotten

Otomedia Autumn 2022 - Mob Psycho 100 III Interviews [Translation]
Tumblr media
Otomedia Autumn 2022 contains three interviews with Mob Psycho 100 staff - one with Character Designer Kameda Yoshimichi, one with the voice actors of Mob and Reigen (Itou Setsuo & Sakurai Takahiro), and one with the new director Hasui Takahiro. The interviews contain information regarding season 3 and what we should look forward to seeing.
Translation below!
Short interview with Character Designer Kameda Yoshimichi
Tumblr media
Q: The key visual for season 3 is quite drastically different to those of seasons past, isn’t it.
“The order I received was, ‘just Mob-kun this time around.’ I wanted to make it a piece filled with the vibe of season 3’s climax… as a result there’s meaning to be found throughout it (laughs).”
The focus point of the piece is that flipping it 180 tells another story.
Plenty for people who have already read the manga to read into.
Q: How do you feel the response to season 3 will be?
“It’s a serious story, I feel like the atmosphere is a little different to what we’ve seen up to this point. We’ll be revisiting some of the deeper themes touched upon earlier, so I implore those of you new to the world of Mob Psycho 100 to watch seasons 1 and 2 before getting into this season! Season 3 is less about ‘fighting with the enemy’, and more about the relationships between characters, ie. ‘How have the people around me changed and how will they continue to?’ I think it’s the kind of story that will impact just about anyone.”
“A review thus far of Shishou and Deshi” Itou Setsuo (Mob) x Sakurai Takahiro (Reigen)
Q: After 3.5 years, Mob Psycho 100 is back! Please tell us how you felt when you knew the third season was greenlit.
Itou; “For me it felt like ‘thank you for waiting!’, even though I was waiting too (laughs)”
Returning for season 3 felt completely natural to both Itou and Sakurai. It didn’t feel like years had passed, and since there was no huge change in who was primarily working on the show, the atmosphere was as if they had just recorded last week.
Q: Did you feel any change when you were recording your lines?
A big change for season 3 was that the cast were not able to record together thanks to COVID. Since the cast were unable to play off one another’s performances in a natural way, Sakurai worried about what this would do to the quality of the voicework.
Q: In season 3, Serizawa is added to the ‘Spirits & Such’ team.
Sakurai considers that Serizawa has become a bit of a mascot for Spirits & Such, alongside Mob. He then states they’re all kind of mascots.
He states how difficult a thing it is for someone to now be the boss of two people instead of one, and though you might have to squint, you can definitely see this as a visible culmination of Reigen’s growth. “He’s changed a bit. It’s difficult for me to put into words.”
Regarding Serizawa, Mob gets to experience exorcism ‘together’ thanks to him in season 3. In an upcoming scene where the two of them do perform an exorcism together, it’s a nice way to give tangible evidence that Mob’s group of allies has grown.
Itou describes season 2’s Serizawa as having “a low centre of gravity”, and follows this up by saying season 3’s Serizawa has lightened up.
With Serizawa’s arrival, Spirit’s & Such is now home to the strongest espers in the story (Mob and Serizawa given as the visual example).
Q: Please tell us more about the changes that the characters go through in season 3.
The changes the characters go through is said to be subtle, and this is where the story sources drama from this time around. On a total rewatch it’ll be clearer.
Q: Tell us what we should look forward to seeing in season 3 (mid-way only).
Season 3 will begin with a ‘slice of life’ vibe for Mob before delving into something deeper. Season 3’s overall atmosphere is described as “incredibly intense”.
A particular back and forth that Mob and Dimple have in season 3 is Sakurai’s favourite part of the series. “ONE-sensei really knows how to pierce you.”
Hasui Takahiro’s Directorial Recipe
Q: You’re the director now for season 3, how was this for you in practice?
More difficult than he thought it would be - lots of back and forths with Tachikawa Yuzuru.
One idea that Tachikawa came up with regards Serizawa. “At the start of the season there are some episodes that feature Serizawa and some action scenes that the manga isn’t explicit in showing us, so Tachikawa-san came up with the idea that Serizawa should utilise a particular item from the OVA in these scenes. This became a key item, and is Serizawa’s new ‘weapon’.”
Q: Tell us what we should look forward to seeing in episode 1.
“As it’s been a while since season 2, episode 1 of the new season acts as a kind of refresher/reintroduction to the world of Mob Psycho 100. [...] As in, an evil spirit appears, it gets exorcised, Reigen gets in a scuffle, then there’s the appeal of the crazy strong characters (laughs). Tachikawa-san is very good at understanding these crazy strong characters and making them even stronger.”
Q: Please tell us something you were picky about with season 3.
Seasons 1 & 2 are very important for season 3, so callbacks were necessary. You see it with the OP, and you’ll see it with the ED which is very reminiscent of season 1’s ED.
“Up until now huge-scale action scenes have been a selling point of the show, but season 3’s focus is on ‘Kageyama Shigeo’. Season 3 progresses with Mob as a person.”
“As the season progresses you’ll see that Mob hasn’t decided what path exactly he wants to take. How will he choose his path, and finally what perspective will he have? It’s the kind of story that’ll show you this.”
(A huge thank you to @noloryno for being so quick with the magazine scans <3)

Hi, @thousand-winters!! I'm your Secret Spirit! I apologize for posting this late, but I hope it's worth the wait! I combined your prompts of Mob and Tsubomi hanging out and Mob and Reigen hanging out because I couldn't pick between the two, so here's some photo booth shenanigans with the three of them!
Thank you @mp100secretspirit for hosting this and for also being accommodating with me!
All the drawings in a photostrip and a fic to go with this under the cut:
“Shishou! Tsubomi-chan!”
Mob lifts his hand up, pointing to the photo booth some ways away. His eyes shine with excitement, a small smile on his face.
Tsubomi grins widely, her hands clasped together. “That’s the perfect way to end the day! Come on!”
She rushes ahead, Mob just behind her. Reigen tails behind, his hands full as he carries various shopping bags from the goodies Mob and Tsubomi wanted to buy: a small teddy bear Mob said reminded him of Reigen, a Hagemon shirt on sale that unfortunately looks just like Mob’s… interesting monkey shirt so Tsubomi can match with him, a couple of cat plushies Reigen won for both of them at a claw machine, among other things.
It’s winter break for Mob, meaning he’s been able to stop by the Spirits and Such Consultation Office after cram school more often, something not required of him, but Reigen appreciates it all the same. It feels like old times, just the two of them (and Serizawa and Tome) doing exorcisms together and solving customers’ problems.
Today, Mob had decided to bring his friend to join him, the girl who had rejected him earlier that year. Yet despite her rejection, it didn’t stop them from reconciling their friendship. From what Mob had told Reigen, Tsubomi’s family didn’t move too far away, just to the other side of Seasoning City, so the two of them were able to meet up in person once winter break had started.
Tsubomi had only been in the Office for about half an hour when Tome declared that the three of them (Reigen, Mob, and Tsubomi) should spend the rest of the day hanging out together.
(“Wait, why me?! I have an office to run!”
“Because you and Mob-kun haven’t spent any time together lately aside from work, and I know you want to again! And I know he does too, as much as he wants to spend time with Takane-san! Besides, Serizawa-san and I got the office covered!”)
Tsubomi and Mob agreed that the three of them spending time together was a good idea, and Serizawa agreed that he and Tome could handle the Spirits and Such Consultation Office on their own, and after a lot of insistence and maybe some pleading puppy eyes, Reigen finally relented.
Of course, before leaving the office, he forgot to ask Tome where they should spend the rest of their day— it was her idea for them to do this, she could’ve at the very least suggested something. But he figured the Seasoning City Mall was a good spot; if they didn’t know what to do, they could find something to do here. It’s a pretty big mall, after all.
At least Mob and Tsubomi are following the “no more than a total of ¥4000 a store” rule that Reigen established when they arrived, deciding he’ll pay for anything they do since he’s the adult, but also there’s just so much that they seem to want. He’s kind of regretting saying that he’ll pay for everything they do or want at the mall with how much his hands hurt from all the shopping bags. They haven’t even seen a quarter of the stores here. (How many stores can one mall have?!)
Reigen’s just glad the photo booth is pretty cheap.
“Shishou, join us!” Mob says with a smile, halfway into the photo booth.
Reigen puts all the bags on the floor— almost drops them really, but he’s pretty sure there might be something fragile in one of them. He shakes his hands and stretches out his fingers, holding back a grimace. God, those bags were heavy. “You kids go on ahead, I’ll watch over our things.”
“But it’s more fun with more people, Reigen-san!” Tsubomi insists, picking out a winter theme on the screen in front of her for their photos. “Come on!”
“No, seriously, I—”
Something tugs at his arm, but there’s nothing there. It doesn’t take long for him to figure out it’s the work of psychic powers, and one look at Mob’s face and the way he lifts up one hand confirms it.
Reigen yelps as he ends up stumbling into the photo booth, landing very ungracefully onto the seat while Mob and Tsubomi laugh.
Click!
“What the hell was that for?!” Reigen exclaims, pushing himself back up.
He’s only met with laughter.
“You didn’t have to do that, I could’ve just–”
“Quick! Smile!” Tsubomi says between giggles before he can lecture about how rude pulling him into the booth was.
There’s a few seconds left on the timer, and admittedly Reigen feels a little bad about wanting to just leave the two of them and not join in for the rest of the photos. So he leans an arm on Mob’s shoulder and smiles at the camera, Tsubomi on the other side of Mob holding up a peace sign.
Click!
“What next?” Mob asks as the next countdown begins, still smiling.
“Silly faces,” Reigen immediately suggests. “You always gotta do the silly photo when you do these things!”
And so they do. Tsubomi squishes her cheeks with her hands, sticking out her tongue. Mob puffs out his cheeks, crossing his eyes. Reigen just smirks, holding up bunny ears behind Mob’s head.
Click!
The countdown begins one more time.
“What should we do for our last photo?” Tsubomi asks, watching the timer go down.
“I know what I want to do!” Mob says after a moment, immediately wrapping one arm around Tsubomi and one around Reigen, pulling them closer to himself. Seeing the smile on Mob’s face as he hugs them close, grinning so wide and bright, Reigen can’t stop himself from smiling back.
Click!
Once the last photo is taken, Reigen feels himself practically being shoved out from behind, Mob and Tsubomi eager to see how the photos turned out.
“H-Hey, give me a second! You don’t need to push!”
There are four photo strips that are produced from the photo booth, all of them decorated with a cute winter theme.
Tumblr media
Tsubomi hands them all out, Reigen taking two of them and saying something about being able to pin one onto his client satisfaction board. He tries to act like he doesn’t care to do it, but the looks in their eyes let him know they know better.
Reigen takes a moment to look at the photos, finding himself smiling softly.
Seeing Mob smiling so wide and being so expressive, it’s still taking some time to get used to, but Reigen can feel a sense of pride welling in his chest. This kid, who once held back his emotions so desperately, now allowing himself to smile and laugh and have fun just like any kid his age should, having touched the lives of so many and made so many friends of his own…
Reigen looks back up, seeing how Tsubomi and Mob happily talk about the photos with each other, Mob pointing to one of them before the two of them laugh a moment later.
Reigen pockets his photo strips.
Mob really has grown so much.
“All right, kids, you ready to head back?” Reigen asks, ruffling Mob’s hair.
With a nod, the three of them pick up their shopping bags (which Reigen is thankful for because he was not excited about carrying all of that back to the office) and start heading out of the mall. Tsubomi and Mob just continue to talk along the way, Reigen on his phone calling a taxi to take them back, the same taxi service they used to get here.
“Reigen-san,” Tsubomi speaks up once they’re outside, waiting for the taxi, “I’d like to keep visiting the office over the break and see you and Mob-kun more often, if that’s all right with you.”
“Tome-san says she and her friends from school hang out in Shishou’s office all the time!” Mob answers before Reigen can even open his mouth. “I’m sure it’s fine for you to come over, too!”
“My office is not a teen hangout spot!” Reigen immediately retorts, before clearing his throat and turning back to Tsubomi. “But yes, I… suppose I wouldn’t mind you visiting the office again…”
He tries to act like he could care less whether Tsubomi decides to stop by again, but something must give him away because she’s beaming wide, her eyes shining at his answer. She bows slightly, her hands gripping tighter onto the shopping bags she carries in front of her. “Thank you so much, Reigen-san!”
Mob bows slightly as well, holding his shopping bags at his sides. “And thank you for taking us to the mall, Shishou! I had a lot of fun!”
Reigen just turns away from them, pretending to cough into his fist. “Yeah, well, winter break is for having fun, you know? Just enjoy yourselves.”
But even if he acts like he doesn’t care, he can’t deny that he had fun with them as well. They should really do this more often.

In honor of Reigen's birthday, I offer this : Sneak Peeks to some mp100 WiPs featuring Reigen!
From Chapped Lips : Was he making healthier choices? Was he being ‘An Adult’. What a word. So easily said in front of Mob and his friends, but if he got right down to it, if Reigen allowed himself to think about it - he didn’t feel like an adult at all.
Most people his age already had a steady income, a house with more than one room, married, and even - which always made him feel shocked - had kids!!!
But how, he’d often think while scrolling through mobbook to really wallow in his self pity mud pile, how did these people have kids When it felt like just last week they were all complaining about exams, gossiping over who cheated on who (and really some of them really shouldn’t be having kids).
Or was that not right either?
Reigen leaned back in his chair, idly playing with the little matchbox. People changed. People grew. Was he?
Reigen looked down at the little matchbook, pulled out a match and struck it, watching the flame bloom.
Had he changed?
He didn’t feel all that different. Same old same old. Or was that thought also a disservice to those around him.
Hypnotized by his thoughts and the how the flame slowly consumed more and more of the match - Reigen didn’t snap out of it until his fingers burned.
Damn. He really should get out more.
~
On the third ring, Mob answered.
"Hey Mob," went Reigen, then quickly added, before Mob could say anything, "no don’t worry this isn’t for anything short notice.”
He heard Mob settle. "Hello Shishou."
"You, uh, you doing good?"
"Yes, thank you."
"Good! good..."
"Shishou?"
“Just wanted to hear how uh,” why was he having such a hard time spitting it out? Four days in advance isn't short notice! "What's up?" Reigen rubbed his mouth and chin, as if swiping the phantom feeling of threads.
There was a pause on Mob's end, then he said "well the ceiling, perhaps a few pencils that won't fall anytime soon."
Reigen snorted. "Glad to hear you're mastering the art of comedy more and more."
"Thank you, Shishou. But I've always been funny."
"You know what?" Said Reigen, smile in his voice. "You got me there."
"Was there anything else, Shishou? Or did you call only to hear about the ceiling?" Said Mob, though not unkindly.
"Well, next week," started Reigen. There was the sound of commotion from Mob’s end, then laughter. Mob was with his friends.
"Sorry, what was that Shishou?"
Reigen lowered his forehead into his hand, and made his voice sound chipper. “Mind sending Dimple over next chance you get?” Gosh this really could have been a text.
"Oh," said Mob, voice tinted with surprise, "alright. I'll do that."
"Cool beans. Thank you. Have fun Mob!"
"Thank you Shishou, I will."
~
“Look, don’t tell Serizawa alright?”
Dimple zipped around, demanding an answer as he got more and more in Reigen's face. “Why not?!”
“He’s having fun right now!" Reigen, despite knowing his hands would just pass through Dimple, raised his hands and gently attempted to push Dimple away. Leaning back in the process. "And I don’t want to- look," Reigen ran a hand through his hair, and sighed, "I’d hate for him to think every time he goes off to have fun with his friends or something to worry about me. This isn’t like the train, this isn’t like Roshiuuto.”
“But we don’t know what. this. is!”
“So far? Chapped lips." Reigen shrugged, and gave a crooked smile, "And I’ll figure something out. I always seem to."
Dimple made a face, which was quite easy when usually all he was, was a floating face, but this had a High Def Sneer to it that only Dimple could master. “You are such an idiot. I look forward to seeing you haunt this place when you die.”
“Thank you for your concern. Touching as ever.”
From Refrigerator Problems (a yet to be published fic about Reigen and Teruki) : Teruki looked at him, incredulous to his hairline. “I thought you said you had too much food to deal with? Where did all the food go?!"
“Hm…” Reigen opened the refrigerator, and was greeted by the white/egg shell yellow void of the refrigerator interior, a half empty take out box, and a single light bulb that flickered pathetically to stay on. There was nothing to eat, “rats.”
“Rats?!”
“…yeah" Reigen drawled through his lie, though was it really a lie if someone mistook a dry remark literally? "Big ones."
From Glow Worms or rather: In the Depths of the Safflower Hills :
Serizawa staggered, hand resting against his head. Perhaps he should have accepted the offer of water after all.
Then, quick as the thought, a glass of cold water was was being pressed into his hand. And he was looking up into Reigen’s worried face. And, this Serizawa realized distantly, he was…raising the glass to his lips, the ice clinking over itself in the liquid, cold…very cold - all at once Serizawa’s nostrils flared. The harsh chill of snow and ice. It came clear to his mind. Just as the mental image of blood splattered over fresh snow invaded itself in his mind.
Someone had died. But how long ago?
Last winter?
Or a hundred winters since?
Painted over sliding door depicting a great estate. The Lord and Lady of the estate beneath a paper umbrella, while hunters on horse back fight a pack of wolves.
It hurt Serizawa’s eyes to see. As if the colors were off, or perhaps the brush strokes too…too something he could not quite pin. Not mesmerizing, that wasn’t the word. But something else. It made his headache breach migraine levels.
“You’re not looking so good, big guy,” said Reigen.
Serizawa winced, it was said in Reigen’s usual easy tone, and yet, it felt like a rail spike to his head.
“sorry,” whispered Reigen.
Serizawa managed to mutter a sound that could have been an, ‘it’s okay’. Then he gasped at the feeling of warmth blooming at the base of his neck. It was Reigen’s hand. If he peeked through one eye, he could make out Reigen’s face all the closer.
All the easier for Reigen to gently whisper, “seri, i think you need a break.”
Serizawa shook his head. He tried to unstick his mouth, and, after what felt like eons, Serizawa managed to say, “something is…I think, the entity, or…I don’t know. I feel like, I’m close to…maybe a clue…”
Reigen’s face drew to a hard line, “don’t push yourself.”
“I won’t.”
“You’ll tell me if-”
“yes.” Serizawa gave a weak little smile, “promise.”
Reigen didn’t look happy at all. “All right. I trust your judgment. I’ll…ask the Takeda’s if there’s a room you can lay in? For a little while? Would that help?”
Serizawa nodded, grateful. “Yes.”
~
A truck horn pulled Reigen from his time on memory lane. Opening his eyes with a gasp, sweating. Reigen grabbed at the handlebars, overcorrecting, and just barely managing to not fall to one side. He skidded the bicycle to a stop. Breath heavy with effort, and panicked surprise.
A lumber truck passed. Driver yelling words Reigen couldn’t process. It took him a while to even process his own hands on the handlebars.
Reigen pinched the bridge of his nose, gathering himself. Grounded himself. He leaned over the handlebars, head hung low. Small before the tall trees, the stones, the stream, and the mountain itself. A Datsueba statue on the side of the road grinned at him.
Why did he feel like crying? Was he crying without realizing? Reigen scrubbed his face with his hand, unsure if the moisture he felt was sweat, or tears, or both. He desperately wanted a cigarette. He wanted to fight someone til exhaustion took him. Or punch something till his knuckles bled.
The Datsueba statue kept grinning. Reigen rested his chin in his arms, looking at it.
When his breathing felt more leveled he said to the Datsueba statue, “please be kind to me in the afterlife.”
Datsueba grinned on.
Then, after convincing himself it was the lack of sleep, the location, the influence of the case, Reigen refilled with determination. He had a schedule to keep, and, if he could help it, wanted to be back at the Gotou house before Serizawa woke up.
With another lollypop, Reigen sped off once more.

Wanted to copy my twt thread here, since tumblr is much better for long form content.
Here are some thoughts on one of my most favorite moments of the series – Reigen’s press-conference, specifically Mob’s reaction to it.
Tumblr media
So the common wisdom (and some comments from ONE) says that Mob rushed over there and, after Reigen’s apology, used his powers to make Reigen seem like a real psychic.
But! I always had a different take. First of, Mob gets there before Reigen even apologizes, but doesn’t do anything straight away. I don’t think he’s so callous as to come to watch in person as his shishou gets humiliated in front of a crowd.
I think he came already with the intention to help, regardless of if Reigen apologizes or not, but then just didn’t know how to help him, so he just stood there helplessly.
Secondly, and this was my biggest impression from watching this moment in the anime (specifically the sub, I think the dub mutes it a bit) – when Mob uses his powers, it plays almost like a disaster movie.
Tumblr media
The building is shaking, cameras are flying and people are *screaming*, it’s almost similar to what we saw in the latest episode with ???% You have to imagine, for the journos in there it must have been terrifying.
And again, I don’t think that Mob is cruel enough to do something like this on purpose. He spends the whole story trying not to hurt people with his powers, and now he suddenly does it just because?
If he was just trying to help Reigen fool the public, wouldn’t it have been enough to just levitate one or two random things?
I also don’t believe that Mob is duplicitous enough to come up with something like this. He doesn’t show any inclination to lying before or after that scene, and he continues to believe that Reigen has special powers.
So, here’s what I think happened in this thing (and shh, I know I have shipping goggles glued to my face): Mob showed up, wanting to help, but not knowing how. He stood there for a bit, getting more and more upset as reporters were being mean to Reigen. Then Reigen said his wonderfully touching line, speaking directly to him – and Mob lost control of his powers because he was so emotional about it. The person he cares for very deeply acknowledged his growth and improvement, spoke to him like it was the most important thing at that moment, and Mob just lost it. That’s why it was so violent, so terrifying.
Tumblr media
Reigen, of course, didn’t flinch, just took this display of power in stride as usual, turned it to his advantage. (Actually, he may have thought that Mob did it because he was angry at *him*, given that he expected Mob to reject him afterwards. But, bless his lying little heart, he didn’t let it show in front of the cameras.)
Anyways, I don’t know if this is actually a widely accepted view, and I just wasted all of your time, but I didn’t see it discussed before and wanted to share. Thank you ♥️

Under The Mistletoe
Pairing: Serizawa Katsuya x GN!reader
Rating: Teen (16+)
Summary: Spirits & Such is decorating for the holiday season! You and Serizawa still have a newly-blooming relationship and you try to be smooth with mistletoe.
Word Count: 2.6K+
Contains: Fluff, awkward early relationship tension, the S&S family, rushed writing, I did Not Check this I'm sorry :'))
A/N: I really wanted to write something sweet and short with Serizawa so it's a little silly. Especially toward the end. Hope you still enjoy!
Tumblr media
It was a short walk from the train station to Spirits & Such. Mornings during the weekends weren’t usually too busy in Seasoning City. You and Serizawa commuted to work together that morning like you would any other day. It was how you grew so close and eventually formed the early phases of your relationship in the first place.
When it was your stop, you and Serizawa left with clasped hands. One of your latest intimate gestures… You quickly learned that Serizawa was a very affectionate person. It would take a bit of patience and reassurance at first, but he loved being physically close to you. Even if the hand-holding still made you blush like kids.
It always flustered you knowing Serizawa’s hands are fuzzy and much larger than yours in size. His soft palms feel therapeutically warm against your frigid fingers. He silently rubbed his thumb in small circles on the back of your hand in hopes of transferring some warmth to you. It was a small wordless gesture that you appreciated.
“Did you get home safely last night?” Serizawa asked, matching your pace despite his long legs on the wintery sidewalks. Recently, he started initiating the conversations first. He was quick at adjusting to your relationship. It was endearing.
“Ah, yeah! Thank you but you didn’t have to stay with me on the train… I’m sure you’re tired from classes,” you said remorsefully, noting the dark blotches under his eyes. Serizawa only offered a small smile and shook his head.
“It’s okay… I wanted to spend more time with you,” he admitted softly and squeezed your hand. Whether or not he meant to say those words so casually, your warm cheeks tingled and your heart fluttered in your chest. You lowered your head to hide your wobbly smile.
Christmas was still weeks away. But once the clock struck the first of December, Reigen was enthusiastically raiding the office early the next day wrapped in green tinsel with dusty brown boxes in his arms, red and gold glimmers shining through its worn lid. Evil and seasonal spirits are a must at Spirits & Such.
He wanted to have the office fully-decorated and bedazzled over the weekend to really wow the clients on Monday. Friday night, he rang up the S&S company for decoration committee help. Not because he couldn’t handle it himself but… Well, the holidays are no fun without the family.
You reached the office building and went inside, sighing at the warmer interior that welcomed you. The two of you exchanged simple small talk, talking about school, the snow lately, weekend plans. But as you got closer to the second floor, you could hear the recognizably clear drawl of your boss shouting through the walls.
“Mob! Bring it a little to the left!”
You and Serizawa stopped by the doorway, suddenly dropping whatever conversation you were having at the sight of a pink floating Christmas tree bumping the back corner of the office, scraping the entire wall. Their youngest employee with the bowl cut, Mob, stood near the entrance of the room in his blue turtleneck, using two hands as he relocated the bare tree with his powers. His eyes flicked between the tree and his mentor with concern.
“Shishou… I think this tree is too big.” A growing wooden crackle and snap attested to his hunch. The broken top of the giant tree hung sadly, quivering as the kid esper attempted to fit it into the gray corner.
“Ah, that’s just because my powers were so crazy strong the whole thing over grew when I touched it!! If someone else were bringing it up here, it would have stayed small!” Reigen barked dramatically, crossing his arms. Rubbing the bottom half of his face, he scanned the dangling snapped half of the winter tree wearily, trying to find a solution.
“Can you cut it in half with your powers?”
Mob threw his master a pointed look with hooded eyes and a flat frown that suggested: No, Reigen. He could not, in fact, cut the tree in half with his ESP.
Serizawa announced both your presences by clearing his throat next to you. Your coworkers all turned their heads and greeted you.
“Good morning, Serizawa-san, L/n-san,” Mob smiled over his shoulder, his attitude immediately changing when he saw you. Reigen switched right into boss mode, even without his coat on. He fixed his tie to his neck and waved the two of you over.
“Oh, perfect! Glad you’re here! We’ve just started decorating!”
“... Is that so?” You remarked, both you and Serizawa’s eyes lingering on Shigeo who was still trying to use his powers to cram whatever was left of the withering tree under their tiny roof. Your resident evil spirit, Dimple, flew into view, rolling his eyes.
“He’s trying so hard to make this work because he got this tree for free off the side of the road.” The blonde swatted the spirit away with an obnoxious fake cough.
“Hey! They were gonna dump the thing anyway! What a waste — I mean, look at the size of that thing!” Reigen whispered in a hushed tone.
“Did you look at the size of that thing before bringing it inside?” The green ghost retorted. Right on cue, a loud scraping noise tore through the room. Everyone turned to the tree, the jagged wood of the broken trunk top pierced through the ceiling to the upper floor. Various white dust particles and tile pieces fluttered from above their heads, ceiling lights flickering faintly. But most importantly, the tree stayed.
The middle schooler covered his mouth as he coughed, turning to the adults before giving a proud thumbs up. Reigen coughed quietly into his elbow, his eyebrows raised as he blinked in surprise, “...Well, I guess that works, too.”
Reigen divided the room in half. Mob and Dimple were on tree-decorating duty, Reigen would focus on his desk-area, and you and Serizawa would fancy up the rest of the office. Your boss would often jump sides bickering, getting distracted by the little things he found in his old Christmas decorations.
“Oh, these are nice!” he cheered, holding two jingling reindeer antler head pieces in his hands. “Mob!” He dashed over and subjected the boy to his accessorizing. But not before joining in with his own matching set of antlers.
“Haha! We look great! Ooh, I should get a picture. Hey- Stop that, you’re gonna get motion sick.” You laughed, watching Mob shake his head quickly to jingle the colorful bells on his headpiece.
You worked on untangling a roll of red tinsel for the walls, raising a quisitive brow at your boss. “What, you think this’ll bring in more business?” you joked. Reigen pointed at you and snapped excitedly.
“Yes, exactly! C’mon, who doesn’t love the holiday spirit? Here — hold these,” he explained as he handed two plastic candy cane props to Mob, sparing another two for himself. Where did he even get those?
“Well… not everyone celebrates Christmas, you know.”
“Pssh, I mean — Okay, sure, fine but- Look!” The blonde pawed at his deshi’s faux antlers, ringing the jingle bells and pointed at them.
“Jingle bells! They’re fun!”
“What are you, a cat?” Dimple commented while the man posed Mob for the photo like an action figure. You heard Serizawa’s warm bubbly laugh behind you as he passed by, carrying a box of little paper decorations for the entrance. You made eye contact, beaming at each other. Your eyes fell lower to the soft green collared sweater he was wearing.
“You look cute like that, Seri.” The words just slipped out. Your boyfriend made a tiny yelp and froze completely, staring at you wide-eyed. His entire face got hotter.
“S-Sorry?” You pursed your lips and tried not to make it obvious how hard you were staring at him.
“The sweater. I think you look nice in it,” you said quietly, holding back on your praise. Serizawa stood there opening and closing his mouth a little before he cleared his throat and awkwardly pulled his collar from his neck.
“O-Oh! Ahem! I-I see…! Yes, it’s new. My mom got it for me,” he smiled, rubbing the back of his neck as he explained. “...Thank you. I like it too.” You bit your lip. God, he was so cute without even trying.
You covered your mouth and turned your head, doing any random gesture to shake the embarrassed tingles out of your cheeks. “Are… you starting on the doorway now?” You hinted. Serizawa’s brows jumped and he looked between the doorframe and you.
“Um, y-yes! Yes, I am. I… Would you like to help?” You smiled and nodded, getting up to join his side. The two of you dug through Reigen’s old cardboard boxes, finding paper snowflakes, icicle cut-outs, reindeer, and candy cane decorations to stick on the walls.
Serizawa’s height was put to good use between the two of you. You handed him the tinsels and strings, leaving it to him to pin to the corners of the ceiling or wrap around the doorframe. All the while you stood beside him and appreciated the view.
“L/n?” You blinked back into the present.
“Yes?”
“Are there any white Christmas lights in those boxes? It might look nice for the door, don’t you think?” Serizawa wondered, leaning back and taking in the look of the entryway so far. You had to give it to him, he had quite an eye for these kinds of details.
“Let me see…” you checked each box, rustling loose leaves around, broken christmas lights, crumpled decorations… And then your eyes fell on something familiar.
“Oh!” Serizawa turned to see what you were exclaiming about. He startled at first, not expecting you to be standing right next to him. You pointed above your head. Puzzled, he followed with his eyes and they widened at the green and white bundle in your hands. He looked back at the plotting look in your eyes.
“Ahh, what are the chances? Looks like we have to kiss now. It’s tradition, you know?” The taller man blinked a few times before breaking into a blush, scratching the side of his face shyly.
“Isn’t it supposed to be when we’re standing under it?” You stiffened and scrunched your face quickly, searching for an excuse.
“Mmm, well yes! But you see, I’m having a little trouble getting this over your head. You’re too tall for your own good.” Serizawa only stood over you, tilting his head blankly like a puppy as he looked down at you.
You squirmed uncomfortably in this position, especially since it seemed like he was expecting you to make the first move. Maybe it wasn’t the right moment. Dumb joke.
You waved the mistletoe in your hand as you spoke, “Bahahaaah, kidding! Just- Just joking! I mean- Mistletoe under the entryway would… probably be a bad idea. Anyway. Um. Ahem! Sorry, let me find those lights.”
You moved to turn away from your boyfriend out of utter humiliation but felt the ground disappear from under your feet. Your eyes widened and you noticed the thin layer of deep purple energy coating your arms and legs. The ceiling felt a little closer than before.
“U-Um, Serizawa??” You chuckled nervously, hovering idly over him. He cupped his big warm hands around your face, pulling you a little closer to him.
“What, um…?” You swallowed shakily, your eyes unable to choose one place on his face to focus on… He was so close. You could see every wonderful detail in clarity. Had you never noticed the faint mole above his eyebrow? Or how long his lashes were? And the way his hair was starting to curl in again now that it was a little longer?
“…Does this help?” He asked you. You blinked. Your boyfriend smiled and pointed at the plant in your hand. You gasped and fumbled on your words excitedly, nearly dropping the mistletoe out of surprise.
“Oh! Oh, uh- y-yeah, sure! Um, yes, it’s… definitely higher now,” you stammered, shaking the plant in your hand. You looked back at him, finding a rosy smile on his face. Oh. No, wait that’s really cute. Your confidence came back.
“N-No choice! You have to kiss me now.” That familiar, deep, warm laugh of his met your ears again. He wrinkled his eyes, gaze lowering to your unkissed lips. He placed a warm thumb against the bottom one, parting it carefully.
“I guess I do,” Serizawa whispered closely. He leaned in gently and fit his plush lips between yours. His soft hands traveled to your shoulders, easing you back to earth. The weight slowly returned to your body and you sighed into the kiss you so wanted. His fingers danced behind your neck, other hand pressing you close against him. You tilted your head in an angle that allowed you to deepen the kiss more easily. Serizawa smiled against your lips, pulling you closer as he breathed in deeply. You ran your fingers through his curls and he caressed your cheek, kissing you one last time.
He pulled away first to your disappointment, resting his forehead against yours and looking down at you, catching his breath.
“This is new,” he hummed, pushing your hair from your eyes with two fingers. The soft pads brushing across your skin, making you shiver. “It’s cute when you’re the one embarrassed.” You gasped in surprise, your cheeks darkening upon seeing the teasing glint that appeared in his brown eyes.
This was new, indeed.
“Did I… do that right?” He asked, a hint of fear in the way his voice cracked. You couldn’t help but sigh, and stroke the curve of his cheek.
“You were just perfect, Seri,” Your boyfriend smiled but still looked worries. You leaned back and pretended to ponder.
“But you know… I think that traditionally, you actually need to kiss the other person twice under the mistletoe,” you said flatly, giving him a serious look. Serizawa snorted at this, losing composure and laughing into your shoulder. Your poker face threatened to crack as you wrapped your arms tighter around him. You smiled, watching any lingering traces of doubt slip away.
“AAAHHHHH! Serizawa-san!!” You quickly broke apart from each other and snapped your heads around, looking for the trouble. It didn’t take too long to notice. The two of you froze, eyes wide and jaws dropped. The office walls around you cracked and groaned as the Christmas tree slowly expanded outward, all of its leaves basked in a deep, glittery, purple haze.
“N-Not good!” Serizawa cried, running towards the tree, attempting to push everything back into place. Handfuls of mistletoe erupted from the cracks in the wall and base of the tree, crawling across the expanse of the walls and floor. Mob frantically concentrated his powers on the tree, willing it to stop growing. But if anything, the addition of ESP only quickened the rate of the tree. His hand trembled violently as he lowered it, swallowing harshly. A single bead of sweat dripped down his face.
“I...I can’t stop it…!” Reigen whipped his head to the boy then back at the massive tree with disbelief.
“YOU’VE GOTTA BE KIDDING ME!” The ornaments fell off their hooks and exploded, more ceiling tiles crumbling down to the floor. The sprinkler system triggered and soaked the office, pipes and internal structures bursting at the seams.
You could do nothing but stand back and watch, powerless, mistletoe in hand, knowing you were the reasons for the third renovation of Spirits & Such.

2, 3, 13, and 18 (for Mob) for the MP100 ask game? :D
2: Who’s your favorite character out of the cast?
It used to be Toichiro for a long time (I like to give a villain a chance at being just some normal guy), but recently it's Mob (and Reigen somehow too because I can't just separate them).
3: Who’s your favorite esper kid?
Ritsu! He's trying so hard to better his powers and be a good brother to Shigeo, it's heartwarming.. I like that his actions are sometimes silly and petty despite his efforts to be mature and serious. I was very confused with his actions when I first watched the show, because of how nice and caring he was to Shigeo, only for him to reveal having insecurities about not having powers and not being able to stand up to his brother (in a possible fight?). And yet Mob was so happy for him, he didn't ever intend to hurt him or fight with him. He is like a feral kitten to me.....
13: Are there any specific MP 100 artists/writers you admire?
As for artists, I really like the work of Haaagea on twitter, the cutest mobfurry I ever seen! I'm not even a furry and they're not typical furries when it comes to artstyle, but very adorable! Other than that also RAM on twitter as well, this person has the most gorgeous colours in their art that I want to dissect and study under a microscope. Recommend the art very much! As for writers... there are some that I like but I'm a little embarassed to post their @'s on here and I'm not always familliar with more than 1 or 2 of their stories, even if they wrote some of my most beloved fics.
Definitely snowtears on ao3, because I accidentally read so many of their mp100 fics........ They are like a deity to me, kinda mysterious, I don't know who they are of if they have social media but the fics, the writing style is really lovely.
May I also mention Phantomrose96 for the whole ABoT fic that drives me insane with how it's written and how the plot keeps you biting your nails because of the tension.
18: What headcanons do you have for Mob?
Okay so I'm maybe not gonna be very creative because I adapted some headcanons from fics and fan art, and some from other people... >_<
Mob gets his ears pierced as convinced by Teru. He grows taller than Reigen but just a bit, 2cm maybe but Reigen can't take it, complaining constantly that his neck hurts from having to look up all the time, all dramatic. Mob goes to the gym, does gain some muscle while still looking pretty average, not really like a bodybuilder. Works a few shitty jobs (like in food delivery or package delivery) after finishing his studies and helps out at Spirits and Such when he misses Shishou. I think he might improve a bit with talkativeness although if he uses humour, he says it in a completely serious tone, only to "break character" a moment later.
Thank you for the asks! ^^

teru week day seven: birthday
Teru wished he could say he had totally forgotten it was his birthday. He wished he could have gone about his morning as normal, nonchalantly checked the date, and realized oh! He was fifteen years old today!
Instead he lay in bed, sleepless, watching the sunrise through his blinds, shivering, waiting for his phone to go off.
He had told himself last night he had to get to bed early. If they called while he was asleep they called while he was asleep, he could just call back in the morning, no big deal. Nevermind that they always seemed to be too busy to pick up the phone. Nevermind that their voicemail inbox had been full for six months.
He heard his phone buzz and sat up in bed, staring at the light illuminating his nightstand. He waited until the light dimmed before he worked up the courage to reach for it.
“Hey! Wanted to know if you’d be available to swing by the office later today, just got a big assignment and could REALLY use the help. Thank you!”
Oh. It was just Reigen.
“Sure! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧ TERU✧゚・:*”
Teru decided to officially give up on trying to fall asleep. It was, what, 5:30 am? Perfect time to wake up on a saturday.
As he absentmindedly flipped between TV channels he heard his phone buzz again. Reigen again?
“Happy birthday Hanazawa-kun :) Do you want to hang out today?”
Teru smiled. It was pretty rare for Kageyama to text him first. He was good enough at keeping conversations going, but initiating them seemed to be a struggle for both of them.
“You remembered?”
“Yeah! We’re almost exactly a month apart haha :)”
“☆*: .。. o(≧▽≦)o .。.:*☆ I have to go to Reigen-san’s around 16:00 but before then I’m free (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧ TERU✧゚・:*”
“I just got up but meet downtown around 9?”
“╰(*°▽°*)╯ Sounds good! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧ TERU✧゚・:*”
“Okay! :) See you then!”
Teru scanned the area as he walked through the crowded streets of downtown Seasoning City. The area seemed safe enough at a glance, but he could never be too careful. The man in a blue hoodie had been walking the same path as him for a couple blocks now, maybe it was time to quicken his pace. The man didn’t speed up to match him so Teru let his shoulders relax a bit. Oh, there was Kageyama, about three blocks away. He hurried forward, careful not to lose focus on his surroundings.
“Kageyama-kun!” he called with a wave as soon as he was on the same block. Kageyama looked at him with a start and waved back.
“Oh, hi Hanazawa-kun!” he said with a slight smile. “It’s been a bit, huh? How’ve you been?”
“Ah, I’m alright,” Teru said. Should he talk about his recovery post confession-incident or would that make things weird? “School’s been alright, and my friends from the Awakening Lab have been keeping me busy outside that. How about you?”
“Ah, I’ve been so busy with school and my clubs that I haven’t really had time for anything else,” he said, “I actually haven’t really gotten to see Reigen-shishou at all since. Uh.”
He looked away uncomfortably for a moment. Teru reached out and put a hand on his shoulder with a reassuring smile. Kageyama looked back and smiled weakly.
“So! What’s the plan?” Teru asked.
“Boba?” Kageyama suggested.
“Don’t think they’re open this early, coffee maybe?” Teru said.
“Oh, I don’t like coffee that much, it’s too bitter,” Kageyama said guiltily.
“Hummingbird taste buds?” Teru giggled. Kageyama snorted and rolled his eyes. Since when did he do that? “You know most cafes serve things other than coffee, right?”
“But you said coffee,” Kageyama protested.
“I meant it as a catchall for ‘served at cafes’,” Teru explained, “Context clues.”
“Do sandwiches fall under the ‘coffee’ umbrella?” Kageyama said, thoughtfully stroking his chin and suppressing a smile.
“My friend, a coffee can be anything you want it to be,” Teru said with the intonation of a philosopher. Kageyama giggled and Teru felt his heart jump. Since when did he do that?
“I’ll take a mint matcha frappe with extra whip,” Teru said, stepping aside to let Kageyama order, then jumping back in front of him. “Two pumps of mint actually, please.”
The cashier stared at him blankly, then flickered her gaze to Kageyama.
“Uh. I’ll have a hot chocolate I guess.” he said
“Any adjustments?”
“No, thank you.”
“Okay so a mint matcha frappe with extra mint and extra whipped cream and a hot chocolate,” the cashier said. “That’ll be 1468 yen.”
Teru reached into his pocket for his wallet at the same time as Kageyama. The two of them raced to put their yen on the counter first.
“It’s your birthday,” Kageyama said, shoving Teru’s money aside, “Let me pay.”
Teru groaned and rolled his eyes, putting the 2000 yen note back in his wallet. The cashier took Kageyama’s note and handed him back his change.
“Fine,” he sighed, “But on your birthday I’m getting you the most expensive drink they’ll let us make, got it?”
“They get more expensive than yours?” Kageyama said, voice lined with disbelief.
“Oh yeah, I totally could’ve bankrupted you back there,” Teru said as they walked away, “I swear I’ve ordered 1200 yen drinks from here before with all the syrup and caramel I’ve added.”
“At that point I don’t even think that could legally be considered a drink,” Kageyama mused. Teru heard his phone buzz and his hand shot to his pocket.
Just a spam call.
He put his phone away again, trying to ignore how much he was shaking. God, why did he have to be so weird about this? It was just a phone call.
“Hanazawa-kun? Are you alright?” Kageyama asked.
“Oh, I’m fine, just waiting for a phone call,” Teru tried to say casually. Kageyama didn’t seem to believe him. Before he could press him, Teru spotted the barista putting their drinks on the counter.
“Oh! Our order’s ready!” Teru shouted before he could say anything, shouldering his way to the counter and swiping both their drinks, handing Kageyama his with a smile. To his dismay Kageyama still seemed concerned.
“What’s the phone call about? You seem kind of worried about it,” he said.
“Oh, nothing, just… uh…” Teru knew he couldn’t dodge the question a second time without making it seem more concerning than it actually was. It’s nothing, it’s not important, he shouldn’t be so anxious about it. “Uh, the last time my parents called me was on my birthday last year. So. I thought they might again, this year. Maybe. I don’t know.”
“...Since last year?” Kageyama said. Teru’s heart dropped. Why did he have to say it like that?
“Yeah, I mean, they’re pretty busy,” Teru said, “Hey, wanna go to the river? I saw ducklings there the other day.”
“Oh I, uh, yeah… sure-” Kageyama said.
“Great! Let’s go!” Teru ushered him towards the exit, hoping the conversation would die once they were outside.
“...I don’t know if they got a new phone number and didn’t tell me or just stopped checking their voicemail or what,” Teru said. The shining sun reflected off the water through the gaps in the shade of the cherry trees planted along its edge. He leaned on the railing, watching a mother duck coax her ducklings from the shore into the water. It was too nice a day for the conversation he was having.
Kageyama had barely said a word since he started talking, just…listened. It felt…nice? To be heard? To be understood? To not dedicate all his effort into throwing solutions and backup plans at a problem he didn’t know how to solve?
“I just. I feel like I should have moved on by now,” he said, “I haven’t even seen them in person since I was nine. I’ve adjusted to life without them. But…”
“It still hurts,” Kageyama mumbled gently, leaning against his arm. The two of them looked out over the water in silence for a moment. Teru could feel his heart hammering in his chest as he turned to look at him.
I guess we’re even now.
He cringed inwardly at the memory of how Kageyama’s face twisted at the comment. Why had he said that? To lighten the mood? Make himself feel less guilty? Maybe the medication they gave him at the hospital had made him delirious?
He was the first real friend he’d ever had and he felt like, with every word he said, every crossed line or potential misstep, he was closer to losing him.
How do you make someone stay?
“You think Reigen-san will be mad we’re late?” Teru asked.
“No, I think he’ll understand,” Kageyama said, looking away in a manner that suggested he was hiding something. Oh god, Reigen probably would be mad at them, wouldn’t he? He had gotten so caught up in talking that he didn’t notice the time. Teru noticed the blinds shut as they approached the building and froze.
“Hanazawa-kun?” Kageyama asked.
“Sorry, thought I saw something,” he said, eyes narrowed.  It’s probably nothing. Maybe the sun was in their eyes or it got too bright.
As they stepped into the building Teru could feel his suspicions growing. He could see that the room was dark from the hallway. Why would Reigen turn the lights off? He didn’t seem like the kind of person who would just leave without them. Had something happened to him? Kageyama didn’t seem to notice anything was off, sauntering to the door.
“Wait!” Teru said as he reached for the handle. Kageyama looked up, puzzled. “Something feels off.”
“What do you mean?” Kageyama asked.
“The lights are off, and I saw the blinds close when we were outside,” Teru said, “I think someone might be trying to ambush us.”
It was difficult to read the expression that crossed Kageyama’s face as he spoke. He stared at him for a few seconds before responding.
“Well, if something’s in there, we can probably handle it, right?” he said. Teru forced a smile. He knew he meant well, but he didn’t like being humored like this. Kageyama turned the knob and opened the door. The office was dark save for the light pouring in from the hallways. Teru could detect other espers nearby, most of them significantly weaker than himself but-
“Surprise!”
As Kageyama flicked the lights on Reigen, Hoshino, Asashi, Kurosaki, the Shiratori brothers, and Mob’s little brother emerged from the dark. Kageyama turned to him with a fond smile.
“Happy birthday, Teru,” he said.
Teru stood, unable to think of how to react. Reigen motioned to the table by the couch in the corner where a chocolate cake sat adorned with candles.
“I wasn’t sure what flavor you wanted so I made an educated guess,” Reigen said.
Teru tried not to let on how strained his voice was when he spoke.
“It’s perfect.”
“So, afternoon next Saturday works?” he asked.
“Yep! Have a nice night, Hanazawa-kun,” Kageyama said.
Teru looked back at him and gave a small wave as he walked towards his apartment. The building was stiflingly quiet as he stepped in and turned on the lights. As he slipped out of his shoes he looked at the clock. 12 am. One full day of being fifteen.
He didn’t even glance at his phone before getting into bed.

Sakura watched Naruto and Sasuke out of the corner of her eye, sitting on the grass and taking inventory of her weapons and medical kit. Sasuke stood up when he saw his brother at the entrance to the training ground.
She and the blond turned their heads in his direction and Itachi greeted them with a simple nod, which they returned.
“Tomorrow, same time?” the Uchiha asked.
“I'm always up for kicking your ass! Count me in!”
He snorted, “As if.”
“Sorry guys, I'll pass this time. Shishou gave me a mission.”
"You're leaving without us!? We're your teammates, baa-chan can't do that!"
Here we go again.
Sakura rolled her eyes.
“If you want to come with me to Kumo, you're welcome, but you'll get bored. I'm only going there to help them with their medical unit.”
Sasuke paused and turned to her, “Are you going to see that white-haired moron again?”
“Ewww sakura-chan! I thought you'd moved on. Did he say anything to you? Is that why you're really going? You want me to beat the shit out of him?!”
“Shut up, both of you! And Sasuke, stop it. You've never been able to stand Omoi and I've never understood why. As for you Naruto, I'm not a damsel in distress and I don't need you causing a diplomatic incident, thank you very much!” Her temper was already flaring. They could be so annoying sometimes. As if she needed someone to meddle in her life.
“He fights with a katana.”
“So?” She arched an eyebrow.
“You already have a man with a katana in your life, you don't need another,” he replied as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.
Sakura was torn between exasperation and tenderness. Sasuke had always been possessive of Team 7, even over trivial things.
“You, I swear...”
Naruto snickered beside her. “He told me something similar when I befriended Killer B.”
“I don't know what you see in those Kumo ninjas. The ones from Konoha are much better.”
Sakura and Naruto exchanged a knowing glance and turned as one to their teammate, “We love you too.”
Sasuke blushed in embarrassment, then frowned, glaring at them. “Damare, baka!”
They laughed at their friend's annoyance as he left them to join his brother. They followed his silhouette until he disappeared, then Naruto turned to her.
“Oi, when do you think Teme will realize he's in love with you?”
Sakura scoffed: “when did you realize Hinata was in love with you?”
Naruto choked: “HINATA IS WHAT?!”
Sakura's thunderous laugh was his only response.
That same day, Naruto and Sakura agreed on a plan of action; It was time for Sasuke Uchiha to claim what he wanted, and if the woman he loved had to trick him to do so, well.... She was tired of waiting, and after all, he was hers just as much as she was his.

Tumblr media
A tired sigh fell from my lips as I finally walked through our penthouse's front door; after my car breaking down, then my phone dying I was just happy to be finally home. My arms felt like they going to fall off after carrying the damn groceries throughout Tokyo because of course I couldn't even get a taxi. I groaned as I looked down at the bags regretting ever putting them down until I suddenly remembered I have a son. Like Hell I'm gonna carry these..
"Shin!" I call out expecting the rumbling foot steps soon but nothing. "Shinichiro!" I call out again and once again; silence. "I'm gonna kill him..." I mumble to myself then after kicking my boots off I head off with his room as destination in my mind. I don't even have to walk that far just our large living room where I find my son and five well dressed men, whom I known too well. "That explains why you're suddenly deaf" I sigh as I walk up to them but stop as I realize they're playing poker. "HAITANIS!" my voice makes the older Haitani jump. "He is 13 for god's sake!" I snap at the men who were just pointing at each other in a blaming manner.
"You do realize your son is skinning the Haitanis, right?" Takeomi speaks up from the sofa with a big grin on his face while the two brothers just frown and look away in shame.
"I'm down 50k..." Rin groans.
"Let's not get into how much I have lost..." Ran mumbles. I glance at Shin who just gives me the signature Sano grin as he counts his money.
"Karma is a bitch, huh? Now if you don't want to lose more money make yourselves useful and help me with groceries. Now" I point at the two brothers who are more than happy to get away from my apparently ruthless gambler of a child. "They're by the door. Thank you" I say in a more softer tone as I point towards the door and the Haitanis trot off. "Where's the main influencer?" I cock a brow as I glance at Takeomi and Koko, just noticing how our favourite drug addict is nowhere to be found either. "...and the pink one"
"They both away on business and boss told us to come check on Shin" Koko explains. "then this happened" he grins as he points at the table.
"And you two thought it was a great idea to teach a 13 year old kid how to play poker?" I cock a brow mainly glaring at the older Akashi sibling.
"It was either that or taking him out racing, your call" he shrugs with a slight grin and I just sigh.
"I swear to God..." I mumble then look at Shin, deep down I still find it sweet that Mikey sent his almost entire team to look after our son. He might be Japan's biggest criminal and the most feared man but he still always makes sure we are safe and does his duties as a father... as much as he can.
"What took you so long though?" Koko's voice wakes me up from thoughts.
"Don't even get me started..." I sigh then I just slump down on the sofa. "First my car broke down, then my phone died then I couldn't get a taxi" I list then bury my face in the pillow. "I wanna die"
"Has your car been picked up yet?" he asks to which I just let out a long muffled groan against the pillow as a reply. "Where did you leave it?" he asks as I hear him shuffle from the other sofa.
"Outside Shibuya in the underground parking lot" I sigh but before I could continue he offers me a smile.
"I'll go pick it up, don't worry. I'll  be back soon" he grins then he gives us a wave and walks off.
"Alright, we put everything away" Ran announces with a proud grin as he walks back in with his brother by his side.
"Never thought I'd ever say this but you're an angel Haitani, both of you" I mumble as I look up at them from my pillow.
"You look dead, Shishou" Rindou comments and I just flip him off.
"You'd be too if you'd have to walk from Shibuya to here carrying all those bags" I groan then I drop my head back into the pillow just wanting some peace now.
"Shin, how about we go for ride?" I hear Takeomi's voice, out of the entire A-team I trust the older Akashi the most so I don't even resist to his request which Shin immediately accepted.
"We'll be back mom!" he exclaims and just runs out.
"Haitanis, clean the table and help momma" the oldest male tells the brothers who I'm guessing silently agreed as the next thing I hear is the front door closing and shuffling around the large coffee table.
I turn my head to the side and open my eyes lazily finding the Haitanis actually cleaning the table and putting everything back to its place after their little poker party.
"Thank you" I say then I can't help but yawn as I sit up.
"It's fine" Rin shakes his head then sits down next to me. "You okay mama?" he cocks a brow as he glances down at me.
"Yeah, just tired, and missing Mikey... Today was long I want nothing more than to just be around him, I knew he was working but there was a microscopic hope inside me that he might be home when I get back" I sigh as I lean against the younger Haitani. "Naive, I know"
"It's natural, but I'm sure whatever business they're doing he should be home soon" he comforts me his voice turning soft from his usually dry tone he uses to everyone.
"You're right" I let out a small sigh then close my eyes as I rest my head on his shoulder, too tired to care about anything or to even notice how quiet is the older Haitani which normally is a very alerting sign.
3rd P.O.V
Mikey sat in his large office chair listening to some random guy giving a presentation about a new business idea which could be used to launder even more money, the idea itself wasn't bad but the over-hyped tone of the guy and the big toothy grin after each sentence made Mikey's fingers itchy to just take his gun out and shoot him. He was annoyed and bored, bad combination for the most fearful man in Japan, one wrong sentence or look and a new addition would sink to the bottom of Tokyo Harbour.
Buzz, buzz
He felt the phone in his expensive dress pants' pocket vibrate. After pulling out his phone it was a text from the older Haitani. A single sentence that made him stand up and call off the meeting in an instant, ignoring the murmuring business men -who only dared to murmur rather than to speak up to the head of Bonten and question his actions- he put on his long, thick burgundy trench coat then walked out of the meeting room followed by his most loyal man; Haruchiyo.
"Mikey?" the pink haired male asked as he cocked a brow while they waited for the elevator to arrive at their floor. His boss didn't reply just showed him his phone, on it the very text that caused his sudden departure. The younger Akashi just smiled and shook his head after reading that one single sentence that the text contained:
"Mama needs you"

"are you feeling alright?" + reigen & mob?
(Whoops this got long so the rest is under the cut)
"Shishou, are you feeling all right?"
Like every sound that's penetrated the stale office air for the past couple of hours, Mob's words pierce right through Arataka's skull and dig into the flesh of his brain.
. . . He really needs to stop reading so many horror novels. That was a gross thought.
He sighs, stopping himself before he can shake his head. It would probably explode if he didn't. "I'm fine, Mob. I've just got a bit of a headache. I've been looking at this computer screen for way too long."
"Oh." Arataka carefully cuts his eyes to Mob, who has his head cocked to one side and his hand lifted to his chin in a gesture that looks simultaneously very familiar and very wrong. It takes Arataka several seconds too long to realize that it's a gesture he's never seen Mob perform, but one that he's caught countless glimpses of when he sees his own reflection.
Huh.
Mob stands stock-still for several moments, then fixes Arataka with his signature stare, unreadable but not blank. "Should I turn off the lights and go get you some pain medication? The corner store should have some."
Arataka forgets this time to resist shaking his head and squeezes his eyes shut after doing so, hoping to crush the pain away with his face. It doesn't work all that well, but after a moment it subsides anyway. "No, Mob, I'll be fine. I just need to send a couple more emails, then I'll be done." He pauses. "Turning the lights out might help though."
Mob nods, eagerness flashing briefly across his features, and goes to get the lights. The second they shut off, Arataka feels a tension ease out of his temples. He closes his eyes and sighs.
He keeps them shut for a bit too long, he guesses, because the sound of Mob sitting back down in front of his desk startles him. "Ah. Thanks, Mob."
Mob nods, placid as ever, and does that Mob thing where he just sits there and looks at Arataka without any particular expression. An awkward silence settles over them. Arataka feels like he should say something more, but he's not sure what.
He looks at his computer screen again. It's not as painful as before, but it still stabs his eyes like blue-white knives. He grimaces.
"Y'know, I think I'll take you up on the painkillers. Here-" He rummages in his wallet for a couple of bills and passes them over the desk. "Grab whatever's cheapest, and a snack for yourself. And then once you bring them back, you can take the rest of the afternoon off. I think I could use a nap."
Mob nods and takes the money, smiling faintly as he gets up. "Yes Shishou. Don't strain your eyes on those emails."
He's gone before Arataka realizes that he just did exactly what Mob wanted.

idk if ive ever said this before but
The lack of audible/visible distinction between ‘Shigeo’ and ‘Mob’ arises from the lack of real distinction between them they are meant to be parts of the same person as much as they goddamn disagree with each other
so yeah i just felt like saying this bc im bored
Also Arataka Reigen dropping the act for Shigeo is so beautiful to me… He’s so fucking scared. He hates himself. Meeting Shigeo brought colour to his life and who fucking knows man admitting all of this could set his life back in grayscale. But he does it. He does it for Shigeo. He admits his flawed true self and admits that he despises it and admits that despite all that, it was what brought Shigeo into his life.
Deep down, despite knowing his master is a fraud, Shigeo still loves Reigen. Despite seeing Shigeo level a fucking city, in spite of Shigeo striking him with city rubble, Reigen still loves Shigeo. Reigen admits his true self out of love for Shigeo. And now Shigeo knows that everyone, even his beloved Shishou, have darker sides to themselves. And if he can still love his Shishou, and if Reigen can accept his Deshi like this, why shouldn’t he accept himself?
Self-acceptance is so vital and so beautiful I love Mob Psycho 100 thank you ONE

You fish a piece of candy out of your pockets and give it to the boy. He makes a noise of surprise and then smiles.
“Oh… Thank you very m—“ He begins to say, but gets interrupted by Reigen swiping the candy from him.
“Oi, Mob, you should know better than to accept candy from strangers! I’ll take it. Just to make sure it’s safe. You know.”
The boy, Mob was his name? He frowns slightly but nods.
“You’re so wise, Shishou.”
“Now,” Reigen said, his words somewhat garbled from the candy in his mouth. “Surely you couldn’t have come all this way just to give my apprentice some sweets.”
“Well, I didn’t get the sweets anyway. So I hope not,” said Mob.

After-Hours (Reigen & Mob):
“Whatever you want, Mob. You did a great job today,” Reigen says. Shigeo thinks about it for a moment, and then, “Can we get korokke?”
“Yeah,” Reigen smiles and flips open his phone, likely searching up an open stand. It’s a warm smile, filled with things like care and exhaustion and maybe a little hesitation. Shigeo knows it’s not exactly a filling meal. But it’s warm outside, and maybe some apartments have lights strung on their window sills. It’s a korokke kind of night.
“Yeah,” Reigen says again, snapping his phone closed and sighing, not offensively. Shigeo thinks he’s not just going to get korokke, but that’s alright. His master is a nice guy.
“Thank you, Reigen-shishou…” he starts once more and hears a confused hum in response. “I appreciate you a lot.”
He feels a coarse hand on his head ruffling his hair and hears rather than sees the shaky grin on Reigen’s face, the warmth in his voice as he replies, “I appreciate you too, kid.”
The train click-clacks on the rails.
It slows to a halt.
They get off at their stop.
Above their heads, a city bird in flight.
before-the-storm-bloom (Uroyuki):
Really, she could walk away. She can. She chose this life to go against every ideology she was forced to follow a thousand years ago. Rebellion. Refusal. Glory. Life. These are her desires, and she has no intention of letting go. It doesn’t seem, though, that Yuki cares. There isn’t any indication the other wants to seize those opportunities from her rather than a transaction of aid. An alliance. Not servitude. Living for herself. The taste of the rosewater sky is sweet on her tongue. “Alright,” she concedes, and the waves in her ribs calm to lapping waters as Yuki hollers in excitement. She turns and Yuki follows, chattering a mile a minute. “Hey, aren’t you cold? Take my jacket, I don’t need it. Aw, hey, it looks really good on you! What’s your favorite food? We should go eat something. I’m sure there are some shops out here that haven’t been obliterated…” Takako rolls her eyes. The jacket is warm.
oh, ashes, ashes, dust to dust (Nobamaki):
Her pocket buzzes over and over again, the uncomfortable sensation tickling her thigh. She knows the day as November 27, a kind of Friday she might've waited for eagerly a month ago, an afternoon spent doing stupid shit. The chill seeps through her shirt, relenting its force to her; it’s getting colder by the day and she doesn’t flinch. She doesn’t pick up her phone, hardly registers it over the crackle of flames and the crash of waves in her mind. Maki's bones are made of iron and her muscles of steel. They are constantly destroying and remaking themselves with every curse she exorcises, her sword heavy in her hand. She's made painfully aware of it when she feels the thrumming of blood and hears her silent breaths. It's all a reminder of the spirit resting inside her, the spirit she couldn't save. It's all a reminder of the love that she lost and things that burn.
light of a new morning (Tsumiki-centric):
But it's a nice feeling to be honest, for once. And rain would feel nice against the strange burning sensation in her hands. It would clear her disjointed thoughts as all she can seem to do is cry and cry and cry, and it would hurt after and it would hurt all the while but she's been hurting all this time, too, anyway. She was a normal person then and a sorcerer now, bearing witness to all the atrocities anyone would never hope to see. She's lost her sibling to boot. What kind of life is this? Nothing makes sense anymore. But the sun rises higher into the sky and the frost melts into gradually burning grass. Nobody can wish for something out of their control and the sun will continue to bear down on them, dispelling the clouds until nature decides to take up its cycle; evaporating, condensing, and raining down on the earth. The icy droplets will moisten the dirt and soothe the burning flora, and they will spill a slow-sinking river into the many gravestones at Jujutsu High as everything dies into the winter and comes alive again in the spring, the rain and sun and sky smiling all the while. "I'm glad you're here, Tsumiki nee-chan," the other boy whispers. "I'm glad you were born. And I think I can be glad I was born, too, if it means that we can be friends in this world. Maki-san would love to be your cousin, and Kurusu would love to meet you." In a quieter, softer voice, like Yuuji is trying to convince himself, too, "I don't think we all have to exist for a reason. I think we were all born by chance and we happened to be here at the same time, even if it was the wrong time... but if we were able to smile and laugh in this life, then maybe... maybe... it wasn't so bad."
this tired old machine is a-rumbling (Higuruma & Nanami):
The blond offered half of his casse-croûte, which Higuruma refused politely. Despite his plans for the afternoon, he trailed after the man when he turned to walk away, like a stolen habit of someone else. It almost felt natural for him to do so. "I used to frequent another bakery," the salaryman shared as he tore off a piece of his lunch. "I haven't been there in quite some time, but this one is almost as good." "I assume it is. You don't look nearly as tired as you did before." The salaryman chuckled dryly at the comment, shaking his head. "Is that so?" "Isn't it?" The younger man exhaled hard and stared at the bread between his hands. Higuruma couldn't help but notice the man hunching over slightly, his posture just one angle less than perfect. "It's like you described, Higuruma-san. We work in an endless, rotating machine that only makes us suffer to serve those at the top. I abandoned my previous job and chose the lesser of two evils. This time, though, it's a certainty I'll die in the process." "Why would you make that decision?" He smiled, a near-invisible curl of his lip. "For the same reason you chose public defense. There is a child in my care, now, and I won't allow him to suffer at the hands of the higher-ups." "That's pretty respectable, ex-salaryman." "Please don't call me that." "You never gave me a name." He paused, as if contemplating, before revealing, "My name is Nanami."
keep running for the sink but the well is dry (Maki & Mai):
And Maki wanted to apologise, in this split second stretched into time forever. She wanted to say sorry for everything, step into that ocean and wallow in its sadness, for everything she missed when Mai was alive and everything she lost. But this was a promise she would keep, no matter what. So the spirits are exorcised. So her father's skull is split in two. So Maki doesn't cry… … and sets fire to everything else.

OMG!!!!!
i just finished reading tcba and!!!! It’s so good. Absolutely amazing.
I keep imagining kakashi, once he gets over his shock, actually being really fucking proud of her for for exposing root and making all the agents confess to Tsunade. For getting rid of a system that hurt Yamato and Obito’s family when he couldn’t. For staying loyal to her team above all else and prioritizing them.
Maybe you could add an extra kick to her being right in Kakashi’s eyes by going with the whole “Danzo tried to kill off Sakumo on the mission because he started getting too respected/ close to discovering the truth of root.”
thank you so much! i'm so glad you've liked it <3
the thing w kakashi is, hmm, a little more knife-y. the hard part abt everything w danzo/the dark side of konoha is--kakashi already knows. kakashi already knows abt ROOT, he already knows abt orochimaru's experiments that the sandaime didnt chase him for/covered up, and even if the truth of the uchiha massacre was a shock to him, he definitely MUST have sussed that something was Not Right there.
kakashi isn't uncritical of the shinobi system, either! he gets very rules-focused after everything w his dad, but after obito dies? he's all teammates all the way. the entire reason that he and zabuza get along is bc they both know what it means to be used as a tool by your village. i'd say he definitely values people over the system.
however, kakashi never acts against konoha or the shinobi system in a way that meaningfully condemns them.
he critiques the system, but he never tries to actually leave it. his reasons for that are hard to parse bc we also have to contend w the fact that throughout shippuden, kishimoto has switched tracks to saying that konoha is a force for moral good. what this means is that kakashi says all the right things about not abandoning your team, and he obviously doesn't have a high opinion of the elder council or danzo specifically. but what does he do about it?
kakashi, i think, actually believes in the will of fire. he's put his bets on that horse, as it were. i'm not sure kakashi is able to separate the will of fire from konoha as an institution.
it's easy to want kakashi to support mariko and her actions bc we the audience support her! the fic is set up so that we agree we the morality she espouses! but uh, she just committed political assassination and other acts of terrorism. it's a bit yikes.
we're going to see more of how this plays out in the next chapter or two, but kakashi is definitely feeling the squeeze. after all, his direct apprentice, inheritor of his techniques and ideals--there is a whole lot more social weight to him being shishou to mariko than just training her--has just used what he taught her, and the beliefs he holds as a central, guiding truth, to commit acts that are directly in opposition to the institution that he very loyally serves.
this is not a problem with a straightforward solution.
