TW Human trafficking discussions of injury
Steve feels like shit. He looks like shit. He’s pretty sure something might have straight up died in his mouth when he got that forty five minutes of sleep.
Everything looks good though. The fact that everyone else sprawled around the boardroom also looks like shit makes him feel a little better about himself. Well. Everyone but Nancy, obviously, who could probably walk out of a tornado and still look put together.
Steve only knows it’s morning because Carol just brought them all coffee. Carol does not come in out of hours. Steve learned that very, very early on. It was uncharacteristically nice of Carol to turn up with the little trolley from downstairs; it had a bunch of fruit and breakfast pastries on it, plus coffee.
She then proceeded to explain to Steve at great length how he looked and smelled like he’d been shit out by a bear, so, maybe she had motive. And that motive was being a bitch.
“Happy now, Steve?”
Steve’s got like, a whole bag of sand in each eye. Coarse, if they grade that kind of thing. Coarse sand. “Do you think we got everything?”
“I am confident that the team have done their utmost to pursue every avenue.”
“Nance, stop being a politician. That’s not a yes.”
She purses her lips at him in the way that she has, “can I have a word with you?” She scans the board room, “privately?”
Steve drags himself out of the chair, balancing one croissant on top of his coffee cup and grabbing a bear claw too, and then follows Nancy out and into a nearby office.
She doesn’t pull any punches, “I need to know how you know.”
Steve takes a big bite, then speaks with his mouthful, “can’t. NDA.”
She pinches the bridge of her nose, “and who, exactly, did you sign an NDA for?”
“The FBI.”
Nancy brings up her phone, showing Steve the screen. More precisely the headline on the screen, and Steve is thrilled that the picture they’ve used of Hagan is, objectively, fucking awful, “so Tommy Hagan was arrested last night, for Omega trafficking. When you walked into the office yesterday, oh so confident that everything relating to Hagan was going to tank…it was nearly ten full hours before this hit the news.”
Steve shrugs again, “N...D...A.”
They stare at each other for a long moment.
The door opens, Henderson’s baby face poking through. You would not in a million years think they guy was in his twenties, “Steve, morning! Sorry, I know it’s early…” Henderson seems to take in the state of Steve. Shirt rumpled, tie hanging loose, starting in on his second pastry, “but I kind of need to know why over a quarter of a million dollars was moved on Saturday, and where it went since it seemed to just...disappear?”
It takes, probably, less than a second for Nancy to leap to a conclusion like an Olympic fucking vaulter, and half a second longer for her to hit Steve with the file she’s holding.
“Er...not now, Dustin okay?” Steve manages to say, trying to shield his pastry and his coffee while Nancy gets it out of her system.
Dustin’s a smart kid, he watches Nancy slapping Steve with the papers...and just leaves.
She finally stops, pinching the bridge of her nose, and says very evenly, very quietly, “Steven Harrington, look me in the eye and tell me you didn’t buy an Omega.”
“NDA?” Steve replies quietly, uncertain, and then flinching when Nancy raises the folder again, “okay okay! Yes, yes I did. But! Under the FBI’s kind of...you know, instruction? I was evidence gathering! He’s at mine but I’m figuring out where his family are and I’ll take him back! It’s fine!”
“Why is he at yours?”
“They didn’t have anywhere for him, short notice, plus his feet are kind of messed up, from them like, hurting him. He’s been there a couple of years so doesn’t have anything, so I’ve ordered him some clothes and stuff. He’s fine.”
Nancy tilts her head, like a predator working out the distance they need to strike, “he’s...fine?”
Steve knows he’s fucked up. Nancy is using that tone. It’s...a very specific tone. “Err...yes?”
“You have an injured Omega, who has been held against his will, abused enough to be, at the very least, physically injured, never mind the emotional toll this whole thing may have taken...and he’s fine?”
Oh, no. She’s raised her eyebrow in that way she has. “I mean...yeah?” Nancy glares, and Steve backtracks, “I mean. Obviously he’s not...you know, perfectly okay, I guess. He’s been through a lot. But I made sure I fed him plenty, and he’s got some clean clothes on the bed. The bed in the room...I never actually...got around to showing him to...because I got, distracted. And it’s upstairs…” Steve can feel his insides sinking, “his feet are hurt. Shit.” Well fuck. Steve's...fucked up, probably quite badly now that he actually stops for thirty seconds to think about it.
Nancy sighs aggressively out her nose in that way she has, “Steve your security system is like fort fucking Knox, did you at least…”
But Steve’s already shaking his head, because he didn’t do that, either. He’s just...locked Eddie into a new prison. Shit.
He scrambles, feeling guilty, “I’ll give him some of the money. A lot of the money. Hagan’s...stuff. He can have the ranch?”
Nancy’s eyebrows shoot up into her hairline, “why on earth would he want the place he’s been kept prisoner for-”
Steve shrugs, “whatever he wants. He can bun it down if he likes, I’ll help. It’ll be like, therapy?”
Oh no, she gone from pinching her nose to rubbing that spot on her forehead, but then she seems to...deflate. Grasping Steve’s arm to hold him close, she actually speaks gently to him, which is, quite frankly, a million times more terrifying, “Steve. We’ve known each other a long time, now, so I say this with love. Money, wealth...is not the most important thing in life.” Steve opens his mouth to protest, but she shushes him, “I know. Alright, I know it can help, and it makes life a lot better for a lot of people...but giving people things does not...fix anything. Money is not an apology. Gifts are not an apology. And I know it’s hard for you to...see it differently, okay? Because you’ve always been very...driven, and that’s a good thing! I know how you grew up and how your father was with you and I know you feel you have...something to prove, okay, so I understand, I do. But...a lot of people put higher value on...just. I mean, maybe just go home. Say that you're sorry. Look after the Omega for a couple of days, make sure he gets home, okay? Maybe prioritize that, for a moment. You know the office will be fine...and maybe you’ll see that other things in life can have value, hmm?”

———————————————————————
A couple weeks ago the team got a new member. His name is Jaime and the poor kid has some alien embedded in his back. He's a bit of a mess which leads to a lot of mishaps and a lot of him getting yelled at. It's okay though, entering the hero life is a lot to deal with.
"Jaime!" M'gann yells from the living room.
Everyone in the training room turns towards Jaime to see how he'll react. He pales and his eyes go big.
I roll my eyes before walking towards the bug boy. "What are you doing?" Tim hisses at me, grabbing my arm to pull me back.
"I'm going help Jaime get out of trouble. I'm tired of hearing him get yelled at," I answer, shrugging Rob off of me before continuing my walk.
"Jaime!" M'gann yells again as I get in front of the new member.
"What did you do?" I whisper to him as I glance up and down his body. I haven't gotten the chance to really know Jaime yet. Conner is always super protective when new people join the team. Especially new people that can't control their abilities yet.
"Um..." He says, glancing down at me before looking back towards the kitchen. "I was rushing to make a mac n cheese cup before practice and forgot to add water. I was going to clean it up but Kaldur started before I could."
"Jaime! What did you do to my microwave?" M'gann asks, floating into the training room. Her eyes are hard and her hands are balled up on her hips.
"I-"
"I'm sorry M'g," I say, interrupting Jaime. "I ask Jaime to make me something to eat before sparring which ate up his prep time. I made him feel rushed, I'm sorry," I say again, softening my eyes and sending her a soft smile.
"Oh! It's okay Y/N. I'll go make you something to eat, yes?" M'gann says, all her anger instantly washing from her face before she leaves the room.
Jaime glances between M'gann and me a few times before speaking. "What the hell was that?"
"The baby Crock effect," Robin says, dramatically rolling his eyes to make sure we can see it even with his mask on.
"What's the 'baby Crock effect'?" Jaime asks, glancing at me again before turning back to Tim.
"The 'baby Crock effect' is pretty much that Y/N can do no wrong in the eyes of the OGs."
"I can do wrong! I've gotten in trouble before! I just got yelled at by Nightwing yesterday!" I peep up, crossing my arms and glaring at Batman's mini-me.
"You compromised a mission cause you slipped off a tree branch and gave up our spot. And what did Nightwing do?" Robin bites back, trying to look intimidating.
"He yelled at me, telling me I'm reckless and need to work on my eligibility."
"Exactly! Exactly! He yelled at you and then apologized for raising his voice. If anyone else would have done that, they would have been benched for at least a week and had double training and-" Robin says, but gets cut off from Nightwing slapping him upside the head.
"Stop picking on Y/N," Our leader says before sending me a smile. "Hello Princess."
"Hey Wing-man," I say back, waving at him with a big smile.
"See? Baby Crock effect," Rob says, rubbing the back of his head.
————————————
After sparring practice we all decided to chill out in Jaime's room and play some video games. I don't really know what video game they're playing nor do I care. I'm just here to support and talk with Cassy. She has a crush on Robin - for god knows why - and wanted uninterrupted goggly eye time.
"I am going to kill you, bug boy!" Wally yells as he paces the hallway, slamming open bedroom doors. So much for uninterrupted, I guess.
Everyone in the room sighs and glares at Jaime, who's sat next to Garfield, waiting for his turn on the game. "Now what did you do?" Gar asks, turning towards his friend.
"Artemis asked me to pop into her room earlier to grab her arrows," Jaime answers, the blue of his armor slowly enveloping him as Wally gets closer.
     "And?" Beast Boy pushes.
"And I may have stopped to look at Wally's collection and maybe accidentally broke an arrow he had on the shelf."
"You are so dead," Cass says between laughs.
"It's just an arrow. It shouldn't be that big of a deal," Jaime huffs up, trying - but failing - to hide his nervous.
"Ya, just the arrow from the first time my sister and him crossed paths," I mumble, sitting up in Jaime's bed.
"Start your prayers, Reyes," Wally says, slamming open the door. He is pissed. The broken arrow is clenched in his hand, eyebrows pushed so far together that they look like a unibrow, and face so red it matches his hair.
"I'm sorry," I whisper, trying to make my eyes watery to really sell my act. "I didn't mean to break your arrow, Walls."
Just like M'gann, Wally softens when he looks at me. "Don't cry N/N. It's just an object," He says, walking up to the bed to cup my face.
"I'll ask Batman to use my allowance to get it fixed. I promise," I say, forcing out a hick up as I bury my head into Wally's neck.
Wally runs his fingers through my hair and places soft kisses against my head. "Don't worry about it. I'll get it fixed." He smoothers me in more kisses before pulling me off of him. "You're the prettiest little lady," He tells me, kissing my forehead before walking out of the room.
Once the door is closed, Cassy busts out laughing. "Fucking faker," she says between laughs. "It's almost terrifying how easy you play the OGs."
"It's cause she's the baby. 'The prettiest little lady'," Robin says sarcastically.
"Don't be mad that I'm liked more than you, third place," I mumble, sliding off the bed and crawling over to Jaime. "Would you stop getting in trouble today? I can only dig you out so many times before they catch on that I'm covering for you."
"I'll try my best," Jaime says, followed by a nervous laugh.
I look at him for a second, debating if he'll actually stay out of trouble or not. Probably not. "Whatever," I mumble, crawling back into the bed and stretching out next to Cassy again.
"Lucky you, Jaime. Seems like you got adopted by the team sweet heart," Gar teases, handing the game controller to him.
————————————
The past couple days have been pretty peaceful. All the missions have gone smooth, Nightwing - and Batman - have been pretty calm lately, and most importantly Jaime has stayed out of trouble which means the yelling in the mountain has gone down.
In the past week or so, Jaime has started cuddling up to me. I've enjoyed it. He's a funny and sweet guy. That, and it's just nice to know the people you're working with. Apparently he's from Texas and personally, I like myself a cowboy.
Thoughts of Jaime fill my head a bit more than I'd like as I walk through the hallway, heading towards the living area.
Bart - our newest addition - is talking with Jaime and Tim in the living room. Supposedly, Bart is Barry's grandson. Richard tested his DNA and said it's true but I still have a weird feeling about the new speedster. Given, he is a time travel that just appeared in our training room like two days ago so the feeling might be because of that.
"I don't think your mom is going to flip, Dude," Bart says as I stroll through the room.
"I burnt a hole through my Jordans! My Jordans! Do you know how expensive they are? Almost two hundred dollars! How do I even explain how I did it? If I go up and say 'hey mama I've been sneaking around to be a hero and on patrol today I recked my Jordan's, my bad' she'll flip!" Jaime says, looking over his shoes as he panics.
I sit on the couch, listening to the two boys bicker back and forth for awhile. Soon, Nightwing's voice starts filling the room as he walks through. "One second Bats," He says, beelining for me instead of just walking through the room. "Hey princess, you need anything before I pop out to Gotham?" He asks, bending down to kiss my check.
"Hey Wing-man! Hey Batty!" I add, propping up some to get closer to Richard's phone. "Can I have $400?" I ask, plopping back down on the couch.
Nightwing takes out his wallet and starts counting twenties as he continues his conversation with Bruce. "I'll call you before you go to bed, ya?" Richie asks, leaning down to hand me the money and kiss me again but this time he kisses the crown of my head.
"I'll talk to you tonight," I answer, propping up some to give him a side hug before he walks out. I count out the money, splitting it in half. "Here you go," I say, leaning towards Jaime.
"What am I supposed to do with this?" He asks, eyeing me and the stack of cash.
"Buy new Jordan's? Duh," I answer, shoving the money in his hand before getting up to leave.
"How?" Beetle boy asks, looking at me in disbelief. "How did you just... get that much money? From Nightwing of all people?"
I giggle a little at his disbelief. "Nightwing is like filthy rich. Well, Batman is filthy rich but Nightwing gets to enjoy that money too."
"That doesn't really answer my question," Jaime says, feeling the money like he doesn't believe it's real.
"I don't know... Nightwing has just always given me money when I ask. He blows like a shit ton of money on me at all the parties we go to so four hundred isn't really that big of a deal."
Jaime looks at me in disbelief, his mouth moving like a fish as he struggles to get words out. "Thank you?" He finally says, but he words it more of a question than a statement.
"You're welcome! Make sure you get your sneakers," I say before heading towards Conner's room. I have shopping to do now!
————————————
"You are ground! Grounded from patrol, grounded from going out during team times, grounded from everything, you hear me?!" Kaldur yells, filling the mountain with his voice.
I sit up in my favorite fluffy chair in the library. Perking up at the sound of drama. I know drama can be pretty messy when you're in it but just observing it is pretty fun.
I sneak through the hallways, trying not to make a noise as I snoop out where Kaldur is. I want to know what's going on and who's getting yelled at. Most importantly, I want to know how said person fucked up.
I round the corner into the training room. M'gann's ship is back and surprisingly Batman is here. That means someone really fucked up.
"I'm sorry! I didn't mean too!" A voice says. A voice with a certain Hispanic accent.
What trouble did Jaime get himself into this time? Most he something big of the Bat is here to deal with it too.
"I don't care if you meant too or not, you endangered the team. We can't have that happening so until further notice, as soon as you step foot into this mountain you are not leaving unless it's to go home. Am I-"
"Kaldur!" I chirp running into the room. I wiggle my way past Conner, Bart, Richard, and Lagoon to jump on the fish boy. Kaldur catches me, holding me against his torso with his arms wrapped around me. "You didn't tell me you were going on the mission with Conner," I say, running my hands over his buzz cut.
"I'm sorry. It was a last minute decision."
"Still, I like to know you're okay," I say, laying my head on top of the older boy's head.
"Well, I am okay," He says, setting my back down on my feet. "What have you been up to today?" He asks, moving the hair out of my face.
"Well the big bad detective over there was suppose to take me shopping and to get my gala dress yesterday," I say, poking some fun at Bruce. "But he had a meeting so Jaime said he'd take me to pick it up today."
"I already apologized," Bruce teases back, walking up behind me. His cape envelopes me a bit, filling me with the familiar warmth.
"Jaime has been grounded to the mountain," Kaldur says, glancing between Bruce and me.
"But Jaime promised," I pout, feeling Batman shift behind me.
Kaldur sighs through his nose, taking a glance at Jaime before turning toward me again. "Fine, he won't be grounded to the mountain. That doesn't mean you're off the hook though." Kaldur says, turning towards Jaime during the last part.
"Do you have money to go shopping with?" Batman asks, already counting out some cash.
"I have some allowance stored up that I was going to use," I say, a smile playing on my lips as I watch Conner and Richard both pull out their wallets as well. Maybe I am a bit favorited.
"Absolutely not," Bruce says, handing me some cash as he continues to go through his wallet.
It doesn't take long for Richard to add to the cash pile. "Wing-man, take your money back. You already gave me money this week," I say, trying to give him back the cash he handed to me.
"Nope," he answers, walking out of the room before I can give it back to him.
"Have her back before dark," Conner starts, focusing his attention to Jaime as he adds to the stock pile. "And don't be touchy cause I will find out and I will kill you."
"Uhhh... yes sir," Jaime says, his eyes widening a bit at Conner's threat.
"Take my credit card too," Bruce says, stepping in front of Sups to add the black rectangle to the pile.
"I have more than enough, Bats. I don't need your credit card too."
"Maybe you will. You never know," he says, patting my head before rubbing it, messing my hair up some. "Plus, I have more money than I know what to do with. Might as well spend it."
"You are all fucking crazy," Jaime mumbles, walking out of the room to change out of his uniform.
————————————
"So... your family is like crazy rich," Jaime says as we walk down the Happy Harbor strip mall.
"My family lived in the Gotham ghetto. Well, all of Gotham is pretty much the ghetto but you get the vibe I'm going for," I correct Jaime, stopping outside a store to admire the dress in the window.
"Don't seem like it. You just got handed what? Seven hundred dollars?"
"Well if you want to get technical, Batman has a hundred thousand dollar limit on his credit card so I got handed hundred thousand nine hundred dollars," I say, pushing up the store door, causing the bell above it to jingle.
"And you want me to believe you live in the ghetto?" He asks, looking around at the different displays as I snoop around for something Conner might like.
"Lived," I correct again, stopping to smell some of the candles. "After Wally and Artemis got a place together Artemis insisted that I moved out of Gotham and either stayed with them in Central City or lived at the mountain with the other members."
Jaime watches me as a check out the candles. I'm thinking the rose one for M'gann and the cinnamon one for Barbra. "So what's the deal with everyone just handing you money then?"
I hand the candles to Jaime to hold before heading down the next aisle. "Well Batman is a billionaire because of some technology company he inherited from his parents. Then Conner is inheriting Lex Corporation whenever Luther rolls over and dies. So I'm not rich but Nightwing and Conner are."
"Oh," Jaime says, brushing against me as he shifts out of the way for someone to pass. His skin feels warm against my own. "So like I get the whole OGs having a soft spot for you thing cause of Artemis but how'd you manage to soften up Batman?"
I hum a bit, looming through clothes racks. "Before moving into the mountain to stay with Conner I use to live with Arty and Wally. When they were away on missions I would stay with Nightwing. Aka I use to stay with Batman when they were away."
"Oh," Jaime says, taking some of the clothes I've picked up out of my arms. "Does that mean one day you'll inherit Lex Corporation?"
"Hmm... I never thought about that. I mean if Conner never has kids of his own I guess so."
————————————
"Did you have fun?" I ask Jaime as he helps carry my bags to my room.
"I mean I wouldn't willingly spend my whole day shopping but it wasn't as terrible as I thought it would be," he answers, setting my bags on the floor before flopping on my bed.
I do mostly the same; taking the time to hang up my gala dress before joining Jaime on my bed.  "So you got to know all about my gold digging ways today, what do I get to know about you in return?" I ask, rolling to my side to look at the boy in my bed. Save a horse, ride a cow- nope. There will be no cowboy riding today.
"What do you want to know?" He asks, turning his head towards me. It takes me a second to get my thoughts straight, shifting around for basic things I want to know about Jaime while trying to push down the thoughts of kissing him.
“Where are you from?” I ask, wiggling closer to him to test the waters.
“Texas,” He answers, not so secretly glancing down my body.
“Well ya I know that. Where in Texas?” I push, shifting so close that our noses are almost rubbing.
“El Paso,” he whispers as his eyes lock on my lips. Jaime shifts his head up as his hands wrap around my hips. He softly pulls me towards him. I oblige, sliding myself on to his lap. “You know, I usually don’t take a liking to people swooping in to save me,” he says, our lips barely brushing against each others as he talks.
“Ya?” I ask, placing my hands above each of his shoulders to steady myself. Maybe I will be saving a horse tonight.
“Ya, but being saved by a pretty girl like you has been nice,” Jaime says, sliding his hands down to cup my ass.
I close the gap between us, finally pushing my lips against Jaime’s. The kiss is cut short though, by my bedroom door slamming open. “I told you not to be touchy!” Conner yells as he storms into the room.
“Hate to break it to you Reyes but I can’t save you from this one,” I whisper against his lips, teasing the boy under me.

Warnings- Sweet, sweet fluff, some pain, and a few curse words
A/N- Thank you for being patient with me the whole of January, lovelies. Here's the first fic of 2023, hope you enjoy it! <333
Y/n lets her head fall onto Harry's chest, eyes shutting down as he lightly massages her belly. She jerks her head up when she hears him hiss, realizing that her bun had been too tight to not poke his chest.
"I'm sorry," he mumbled sheepishly before using his elbow to push down her bun a bit, loosening it up in the process. Breathing slowly and deeply to rock her soothingly as she's practically laying on his chest, his mind drifts off to what's inside her belly- eyes fixated on the white bubbles that cover their bodies from his wandering eyes.
She's humming a tune he is familiar with, but never remembers the name of- and suddenly, he isn't sure if he should interrupt her with his weird question. "Is carrying a baby even slightly fun?" He babbles out, his hands still massaging her colossal bump.
"Sure, carrying babies is fun. Why don't you try it?" She looks at him with a pointed look but a smirk on her lips.
For once, he had forgotten how much sarcastic she had grown over the last seven months. Although, his train of next words is soon interrupted and his jaw falls to an abrupt fall. "... Wait- did u just say, babies? Plural??"
His back no longer rests on the cold bathtub. Hands seeing to have come to a halt, he looks at her with a deep frown between his brows and a mouth open too wide. "Answer me!" He shrieks when he catches a sight of her lips curving up after being still for too long.
Her expressions were as if she hadn't planned on telling him this, at least not right now. "Y/n... are you sure you're not fucking with me?" He questions, remembering all the times she has pranked him since the test showed up positive.
"...I-I'm not," she breaks eye contact as a smile stretches out on her lips. Her teeth come out to bite on her slightly chapped lips before she twists a little so she's properly facing him. But, suddenly too cold, she brings his arms up with rest on her shoulders. "We're having twins," she grins, looking at him with wide-excited eyes.
Gasping, his jaw stretches out even more- to the point that it's now starting to hurt. "Are you kidding me?! Oh my god- oh my dear god!" He finally breaks out a huge open-mouthed grin, face leaking with shock and excitement, and eyes starting to glisten a little.
"There are two in there?!" He questions again, pointing at her belly with his eyes shifting their gaze between y/n's face and the huge belly. "When did you get to know this? Why didn't you tell me?!"
"I just found out yesterday, after the cityscan! I was planning on telling you in the studio but there we got engaged in some other conversation and I never found the right moment to tell you. Then I planned on telling you this on your birthday," she sighed, looking down at the water and realizing that it wasn't so hot anymore.
Eyes softening at the corners, he raised her chin up so that she'll look at him. "You don't need to be such a perfectionist for these things too baby. You could tell me this while shitting and I'd still cry and remember that time and day forever." He chuckled, pecking her lips when her mouth also pulls up in a grin.
"God, I can't believe there's more than one. Two?! We're literally having twins! Could you believe it when she told it to you?" He asked eagerly, laughing when she says that she straight up denied pushing two babies out of her vagina consecutively.
"As much as I want this moment to go on forever, I think we really need to get out of the bath now. Or else you're gonna catch a cold no doubt." Harry grunts, getting up before helping y/n up.
Washing away the bubbles and slipperiness of the soap from both of their bodies, he continued smiling and talking about his shock at the fact that they were going to have twins running around in the house. Also feeling the gushiness inside of her, she couldn't help but moan when the contractions hit again while she was stepping out of the bathtub.
"Oh- oh fuckin' shit," she gritted out when they grew more intense while she tried to ignore them and continue her movement.
A little alarmed, Harry soon realized that the contractions were back again. Without much panic, he sat her down in his lap which was now wrapped in a pink towel, and supported himself by leaning on the bathroom door.
Patiently, he massaged her bump in a different manner this time- all while reminding her that she knows how to deal with contractions now. He encouraged her as she tilted her body to her left, moving his hands from her back to her shoulder before wiping the newly formed sweat off her face. "Just a few weeks, my love, my super-woman," he said, cleaning his voice just when he heard his gruff voice.
He knew she was starting to ease when he noticed her hand falling on their sides from where she was trying to calm the baby down. "Oh god," she breathed out at last, getting herself up before waiting for Harry to help her the rest of the way.
After providing her with water and making sure she was fine, he rubbed his towel against his hair while she brushed her teeth as fast as she could- eager to get in bed.
"Slow down there, love. You're gonna hurt yourself if you keep going that fast," he cautioned her, looking at her sideways while the blow-dryer pushed his hair in his face. The warmth of it felt nice on his face and neck and shoulder.
"I'm done, H. Hurry up," she announced before walking out of the bathroom obviously to steal one of his shirts again.
Once in bed, she breathed in and out slowly and deeply as Harry brushed his hands through her hair, a book about pregnancy in his hands. When she started pushing her face further into his side, he took off his reading glasses, put the book on the table beside his side of the bed, and switched off the lamp, slipping down into the warmth she was radiating.
His hands found their way back to her bump, now with the realization that there were not one but two babies in there. Pressing a kiss on her hairline, then forehead, then cheekbones, cheeks, jawline, and finally, chin, he snuck his head inside the blanket to press four kisses onto the thin skin of her bump- two for each.
Once he had plopped his head on his pillow again, she pressed a deep kiss on his lips. "I love you and appreciate you very much, Harry. And, I'm pretty sure they do too," she mumbled softly, pulling at his hands.
"See?" She said in a questioning tone but took his hands and slid them down her belly till he felt something tight. "That--" she weighs on his palms, "-is baby A. And," she dragged his other palm up, to a feisty little one, "this is baby B." She smiled widely and even in the darkness, she could see his grin and tell it was a bright one.

Knowing someone since they were a child and then watching them have a child is, above all, extremely funny because you start to see the parallels between the way they were when they were young and the way their kid behaves

omg i just saw you have requests open 👀 if you wouldn’t mind writing something for timothee, maybe visiting his family? first time or not you may decide :))
hello!! thank you so much for requesting this is such a cute idea, i hope this is okay!!!
“are you serious?” timothée laughs, one hand over his face in disbelief.
“what? too much?” you ask as you proudly turn the cake to display every angle.
“you know my cousin is three, right?”
your stomach drops. the icing is all wrong. there’s one too many buttercream teddy bears atop the cake and far too many balloons iced around its circumference. plus, all this sugar — for a baby?! a baby. a three year old baby.
“you’re kidding. you have to be kidding?” with each word your voice raises in pitch, sheer panic infiltrating.
he rounds the hood of the car, because of course you were just about to set off when he dropped this bombshell on you. it’s charlie chalamet’s third birthday and you’ve ruined it before even arriving.
“he’s really three?” you question, shoulders sinking. timothée places his hands over yours to help you hold the cake, which suddenly feels a lot heavier.
“he’s really three,” he affirms, inching closer to kiss your cheek and calm you down.
you sigh. he bites back another laugh, prying the monstrosity from your hands.
“but, babe, as he’s three—” he begins and you glare at him, taking the cake back.
“and as you’re telling me just now—”
“let me finish!” he yelps, “as he's three, he will lose his mind over this incredible cake, wrong age or not. besides, he’s not so good with numbers yet.”
“thank you,” you bite your lip, looking down at the perfectly iced happy fourth birthday! in the middle of the cake. “but, tim, your family, they’ll all see and think i don’t care or—what are you doing?!”
there’s icing around his mouth. one teddy bear is suddenly gone. three teddy bears remain, and there’s a glaring gap between the words happy and birthday! that almost makes you want to shove the whole thing in his face.
he rearranges the teddys to fill the gap, then looks through his lashes at you.
“better or no?” he smiles smugly, tongue darting out to lick the icing on his lip. you step forwards, balancing the cake between your bodies to wipe the rest away.
“don’t be so full of it,” you say, struggling to fight your smirk. he sees right through you, taking the cake from you and opening the passenger side for you to slide in.
***
“you’re here!” the chalamets cheer the minute you’re pulled into his parents’ house. the pair of you are engulfed in hugs and offers of drinks and snacks. you hoist your cake into the air to applause and timothée beams at the way they look at you.
his cousin, charlie, screams in delight when you crouch down to show him his birthday cake and he makes a grab at one of the teddy bears in a way that is so strikingly similar to timothée that your heart twists for a reason you can't quite place.
***
“i can’t believe he’s three already!” you say to timothée’s sister, pauline, sitting beside her as you watch timothée’s cousin and his toddler friends dancing during musical statues.
timothée is in charge of the music, dramatically freezing along with the kids when he pauses the stereo.
“who, timmy?” pauline grins as she watches him and you laugh.
“he may as well be,” you chuckle and she laughs. “but seriously, how has it been three years since this little cutie was born?!”
“don’t get me started, it feels like just yesterday tim finally let us meet you! time is moving so fast. how long has it been?”
“scarily fast, and we’re coming up on six years,” you agree, resting your head on her shoulder for a minute as you watch the party.
the music starts up again before stopping almost immediately. you watch as two kids topple over each other, and charlie quivers with determination as he holds his tiny arms and legs in suspension, last kid standing.
“oh my — are you an actual statue?!” timothée gasps as he moves about the space. he walks around him, incredulous, exaggerating every movement he makes as he pretends to trip, so close to knocking them both over.
“timothée!” charlie shouts, his giggles almost breaking his resolve.
“ahhh!” timothée screams, hand over his chest, reeling backwards. “i thought you were a statue!”
you crack up alongside pauline and the kids, mesmerised by his humour, his light.
***
“do you ever think about it?”
“about what?” he asks softly, watching you rocking the sleepy three year old sat on your lap. charlie, mid sugar crash from all the cake, had clambered onto your lap.
you hesitate to answer but you needn't have worried: the way timothée strokes through charlie’s hair is so kind your heart aches.
“about having kids?” you whisper, watching his hand as it rustles through charlie’s curls. you can’t meet his eyes, so he ducks his head to look at you instead.
“i’m still a kid myself,” he says after a quiet minute. it’s a gentle no, a tiny hint that he’s not ready yet. “so are you.”
you nod, eyes looking anywhere else but him and he sees right through you when he moves to maintain eye contact.
“but that’s why i think we’d be great at it,” he continues quietly, small smile tilting his pink lips.
you bite down on your own smile, joy and warmth spreading through your chest like a warm hug, like steady arms pulling you in, oh, wait, those are timothée’s arms.
he’s hugging you close, careful not to disturb charlie, and you blink away tears you didn’t even know had fallen.
“we’d be incredible at it,” he repeats, placing a kiss in your hair.
“you really think so? because, babe, there’s so much to learn and so much to screw up.”
“and there’s so much to celebrate and get right,” he counters. ever the optimist. “take today — you screwed up the cake—”
you pull away and balk at him.
“and we fixed it, no problem!” he carries on hastily at the look in your eyes.
“that was nothing. that was you eating one of my teddy bears.”
“we’re a team,” he says simply, reaching for your hand. “and if ever you wanna add any more team members, we’ll do it together.”
it’s all you needed to hear.

w/c : ~4k
Tumblr media
you realize it now.
after living side by side with mr. choi soobin and his son, beomgyu, for a couple of weeks, you’ve started to realize something quite interesting.
1. your mother has a liking for tall lean men.
2. she also has a liking for trying to set you up with the tall lean mens’ son.
now, you wouldn't say you're exactly opposed to getting close to beomgyu. he's conventionally attractive and he seems like a nice boy but you're very much more attracted to the one who created him. it made sense after all.
"give these to mr. choi for me?" your mother all but shoves the roses and chocolates in your arms. you look down quizzically at such gifts. "it's not valentine's day.." you trail off.
you have a strange feeling that soobin would be put off by such acts, not seeming to be as out there as your mother. she doesn't care.
"it's fathers day..well it was...yesterday," she shrugs, fixing her bombshell red lipstick. why was she doing herself up? well a certain mr. choi was coming over.
despite the fact that your own father was out of the picture, that didn't stop your mom from wanting to celebrate every holiday in existence. unfortunately, the only willing father in town to partake in your mother's antics was mr. choi.
he liked to rile her up, you notice. soobin liked to toy with your mother's clear affection towards him, just as he did you. he also liked to throw it in your face sometimes. you didn't say what you observed but you knew he liked to make her feel wanted by a much younger, much more handsome man.
without another word, you decide to give the outlandish gifts to your neighbor. you sigh, looking down at the gifts. some assorted chocolates, nice flower arrangements, and what seems to be a sealed note? you want to roll your eyes but a part of you wonders if soobin would really like these kinds of things.
when you get to the door and ring the bell, the door swings open and there's stands the man himself. he's more put together than you at the moment so you feel out of place even at the front step of his house.
"always a pleasant surprise~" he smiles. his eyes trail down to the gifts in your arms. "for me?" his eyes grow wide and his pouty lips, the ones which you suddenly can't stop staring at since they seemed to be stained cherry red, lay slightly agape.
"from my mom," you deadpan, holding the gifts out. "she's generous~" "overbearing," you correct. "we seem to have different views then," he shrugs. "where's my gift from you though? this can't be all," he ponders in faux thought.
you smile shyly, looking down in embarrassment. "what did you get me baby?" he teasingly leans down closer to you to properly see your face. "could it be perhaps-"
before soobin can place a hand on you, beomgyu comes from downstairs. he's looking sharp, which suits him a lot, you admit. his hair is parted, giving you a teasing view of his forehead. regardless of the fact that he's wearing casual clothes, a stark contrast from his father who dawns an all black attire, beomgyu still manages to make it work for him.
"we'll be seeing you at the dinner," soobin clears his throat, noticing your apparent staring at his son. you can tell that he feels off put by your slight attraction to beomgyu. however small or minuscule it may be its still there to him.
the dinner goes almost exactly how you thought it would. soobin and your mother hit it off, talking about whatever they could to distract themselves from their children for a while. to your surprise soobin barely interacts with you. he seems too occupied with entertaining your mom to pay you any mind.
you're not sure why but this bothers you. beomgyu is occupied in the bathroom at the moment so you can't help but glance in their direction every couple of seconds. your mom is currently leaning against soobin's broad shoulder, laughing at something he's previously said. so he’s a comedian.
you watch as he looks down at her with a satisfied smile on his face. you bite the inside on your cheek and as if on cue, soobin looks up in your direction and smirks. it's almost as if he's taunting you. you bite down harder until you taste something metallic in your mouth.
you're not sure where this feeling of jealously is coming from and you know it's not healthy but you can't help it. maybe you've gotten too attached to your older neighbor in these past couple of weeks.
beomgyu comes out of the restroom with a sigh, walking back into the living room where you are. he can feel a weird tension in your general area but decides not to comment on it. suddenly you stand up, catching beomgyu off guard.
"come on beomgyu!" you say loud enough for everyone to hear especially soobin. the man in question practically pauses in speech midway to look over at you and his son. he eyes you both, mainly giving you a glare that will be engraved in your mind but you don't care. he needs a taste of his own medicine.
"come on let's go to my room, i need to show you something~" you urge him along. meanwhile, you say those words while staring straight at soobin. you hear your mom assure him that it's ok, "the kids are doing their own thing." you knew you were being childish and petty but if soobin wanted to fuck around with you this is what he would have to deal with as well.
you drag beomgyu along to your room who seems quite eager to be in this position. all he knows is that there's a weird tension between you and his father but that's as far as his knowledge goes.
when you both arrive at your room you close the door behind you and lean back on it. "is everything alright?" beomgyu hesitantly asks. you sigh, ushering him along to sit on the bed with you. he looks around subtly at all the little items in your room. everything seems to reflect you well, in his opinion. "well.." you try to stall.
you look up at him through your lashes. "you like me right?" beomgyu stares at you with wide eyes, "i-i mean yeah?" he stutters at your boldness.
"then lets try something," you smile at him, casually pulling your shirt over your head. "let's see how long it takes for your dad to come see us in this position," you say to yourself.
soobin doesn't need to be a rocket scientist to know what's going on here. he knows you're being a brat on purpose but he doesn't care because it makes it all the more fun. he will say he's surprised that you're using beomgyu, his own son, to get to him.
at first, he was getting annoyed with how you seemed to take a liking for his son which is why he wanted to rile you up by seeming extra interested in whatever your mom had to say. now, however, he knew he had a plan for that. you were not going to outsmart him, he wouldn't allow it and he would just have to put you in your place.
"excuse me but i need to use your restroom," soobin makes up a bullshit excuse to get to where you are. "oh of course!" your mom nods at him, instructing him towards the one upstairs. perfect.
"ill just finish up the dinner then!" your mother offers. "great that's enough time to put this slut in her place," he thinks. he smiles at your mom heading for upstairs.
"beomgyu you look like you just saw a ghost," you chuckle lightly, looking down at him. "y/n," he groans at the sight of only seeing you in your bra. he reaches up to grab your breasts, fondling them as delicately as possible. "you can be rough," you offer.
without even bothering to knock on the door, soobin opens it to see you both on the bed in a lewd position. you shirtless on top of beomgyu. he sucks his teeth when you both look back in alarm at the door being burst open. "y/n," he chuckles, almost sadistically.
you can already see the look in his eyes and suddenly you feel bad for not only yourself but beomgyu as well. you try to subtly grab your shirt again in shame but soobin's glare stops you. "what do you think you're doing little slut?" he folds his arms over his chest. not even caring that beomgyu is in the room, he walks over to you and grabs your hair causing you to yelp in surprise.
"s-sir.." soobin narrows his eyes at you then they flit over to beomgyu. "sit over there," he motions to the beanbag in the corner of the room. "i want you to learn something from this." without another word, beomgyu scrambles over to the seat, his heart beating in fear and excitement strangely.
you feel heat rising up your neck and to your cheeks as well as your dripping pussy. "don't be embarrassed, im sure this was your plan all along," soobin tsks, shoving your face down into the sheets. you breathe out when he rips the skirt and underwear from your body without a second thought. the racy thong that was supposed to be his surprise for father's day discarded in a second.
"soobin-" a smack to your ass. "that's not my name."
he doesn't even give you a chance to correct yourself, messing with your sticky juices before entering his cold fingers into your hole. you try to stifle your moan by burying your head further into the sheets.
"god you're so wet," soobin comments. he slowly moves his finger in and out for a while, practically torturing you with how meticulous and slow he's being. "please," you whine pathetically. "please what?" he slows his movements to stare at you with a raised eyebrow.
"please f-fuck me, please, i need your cock," you beg shamelessly. beomgyu breathes heavily, trying to forget about his growing boner but not being able to ignore it. he painfully wants to do something about it but he's not sure if he's allowed to touch himself.
he opts for subtly dragging his hand to his clothed crotch and palming himself through his pants, as uncomfortable as it is. in the meantime, soobin rids himself of his own pants, shaking his head.
he lightly smacks your throbbing pussy and you jolt. "do you seriously think you deserve it? fuck, look at you, can’t wait to be fucked like a bitch in heat~" you whine, wiggling your ass wordlessly in his face to hopefully get what you want.
soobin rubs your clit with narrowed eyes, making sure beomgyu is watching. he could care less that beomgyu is touching himself. he drags some of your cum from your hole to your clit and sighs. "alright then.."
he aligns himself with your hole and without another word slips his cock in with ease, completely bottoming out.
you want to scream at how big he is but you're only left with ragged pants as you know you're unable to make any loud noises. it seriously feels like you could be torn apart at any minute but you love the feeling of soobin’s cock filling you out.
"you're so tight seriously," soobin breathes. he can barely move at first. the way his dick fits inside of your pussy perfectly. he almost wants to comment about how you were practically made for him. he's sure if he flips you over right now, he would see the outline of his cock in your womb.
after waiting a bit for you to adjust to his length he finally starts moving. "shit-" he breathes. you have to grip the sheets to stop yourself from yelling. soobin's hands find their way to your waist and when you look to the side just for a split second you can see beomgyu fighting for his life to not moan out loud.
"look beomgyu-" soobin says in between jagged breaths. "if you wanna fuck around with his pathetic slut this is how you treat her." a moan gets caught in your throat when soobin pounds into you at once. "ah- i-" a part of you wants to apologize and is trying to but he won't give you a chance to speak.
"isn't that right my slutpuppy? did you have something to add?" at the sound of the nickname your walls tighten around him and he sends a harsh smack to your ass. "you're enjoying this aren't you?" he rolls his eyes and sighs heavily.
soobin thrusts start getting faster and faster, beomgyu watching with his mouth agape at his father kissing and sucking at your neck to muffle his own moans. beomgyu can only bite his lip and noises from his throat barely pass his lips as he reaches his high.
soobin growls at seeing your eyes focus on beomgyu so he starts slamming his cock into you at an animalistic pace and you think you might break.
beomgyu bucks into his hand as he cums from the sound and sight of skin slapping added with the tiny noises you'd make. not too long after you feel yourself shudder, unable to warn soobin that you had come you squeeze your eyes shut and let out a whine instead.
"fuck- ok baby," soobin understands as soon as your walls squeeze around him. he pants a couple a times and as soon as he reaches his high he pulls out, pumping his cock to let his cum shoot out on your ass.
"s-sir," you moan. "shhh it's ok." soobin sighs heavily, coming down from his own high to tend to your broken state. he looks over at beomgyu, who's head is lulled to the side as he gazes at your sweat and semen covered body.
soobin sucks his teeth deciding not to say anything to the boy and let him chill for a minute. he shrugs his pants back on and carries you in his arms to the nearest bathroom.
you cozy up to his warm embrace, letting out a sigh. "baby we need to clean you off.." you hear him whisper. you almost completely forget that there's a dinner that's supposed to be happening and you cant just go to sleep with soobin like you'd want.
a sudden coldness hits your body and you shiver. "ok," you agree. his cum is already starting to dry on you and you want nothing more than to be cleaned like he offers. you're not sure how you'll explain your change of clothes to your mom but you're sure you'll come up with something later.
no words need to be spoken after what happened and you're glad because you're not sure what to say. soobin doesn't seem keen on talking at the moment either, too focused on cleaning you off, so you decide to stay quiet.
it's silent in the bathroom until you both hear your mother all out. "dinner's ready!"
you chuckle, breaking the silence as soobin looks up at you with a questioning eyebrow. “happy father’s day.”

Hi Mah, could you write something about Jily in a world where Voldemort doesn't exist? Or, Jily + baby Harry.
If you don't want to, it's okay! Thanks ❤️
Sorry for taking so long! Hope this brightens your day with Lily watching Harry growing up and so not ready for it (no Voldemort mentioned as requested). Based on a real conversation I heard yesterday!
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
The first time she hears it, Lily thinks she was mistaken.
“What, Harry?” she asks, feeling a strange weight on her chest.
He turns to her again, an innocent smile on his lips. “Can I have another cup of chocolate, Mum?”
Yeah, she heard it right the first time. And it’s as bad as she thought. Mum.
She looks at her son, really stares at him trying to understand what’s prompting this difference in his treatment of her. It doesn’t look as if anything has changed from yesterday. Harry still looks like her six-year-old son, a few weeks away from turning seven, average height for his age, with a face that’s becoming more and more like his father everyday, shining green eyes behind the round-glasses he wears.
He doesn’t look any older than he is, no sudden spurge, no change at all, and yet he has called her Mum.
Not Mama.
“Sure, Harry,” she says slowly. “Mama will prepare for you, okay?”
“Thanks, Mum.”
Mum. Well, she reasons to herself as she warms the milk, it’s better than “mother”, that exaggerated formality that she has heard in other circles and that’s not at all how she and James wanted to raise Harry.
And, well, she couldn’t expect that Harry would call her “Mama” all his life. It is a childish call and Harry is not… is not a child anymore?
No, he is just six. Not her baby anymore, she can accept that. After all, Harry already manages most of his routine by himself; he wakes up alone to go to school—he goes to school—, he remembers to brush his teeth at night, he helps her take care of their garden and all. He is a fine little kid.
Not so little anymore. Soon not even a kid. Merlin, how fast has he grown up?
“Mum?”
Lily blinks, turning off the stove in time to just avoid the milk to spill. Her hands are shaking as she finishes the chocolate, offering it to him. Harry smiles at her in thanks, drinking the chocolate despite the warmth—like her, he prefers his food always hot—and giving himself a mustache in the process.
“Hey.” She grins at him, using the back of her hand to clean his face before he can use a napkin. Lily doesn’t think she is ready for that display of maturity from her son.
“It’s good,” he says gladly, swinging his feet in the chair, still unable to reach the ground. Then he jumps out of the chair. “Can I play outside now?”
“Sure,” she says and, for good measure, she messes with his hair. Harry giggles, but a part of Lily just waits for the day her son will go all teenager and complain about this caring gesture, will move away from her touch. “Leave the cup in the sink.”
Harry nods. He has to stay on his tiptoe to reach the stove and this also warms Lily a little. He isn’t that old yet.
She watches him play outside all day, debating with herself when he will stop having patience to play with his figure toys, his imagination. When he will ask for a real professional broomstick, or when he will be able to actually ride it; when he won’t have time anymore for his old mum, so grown-up and unlikely that baby she held in her arms, that reached for her with plump arms crying happily for his “Mama”...
“What is bugging you?” James asks, coming to her side and placing his arm around her waist. Lily lays her head over his shoulder.
“Harry is growing up.”
“Well, fawns grow into stags,” he says reasonably. “But there is still time.”
Lily sighs. She supposes James is right, but then she thinks she barely saw the last seven years going by. What if she blinks and then he is taller, no baby fatness in him anymore, having no time for his mum?
“He is just so cute like this,” she whispers. She still can hold him in his arms after all. There is a strange desire to freeze him as he is. “But soon he will be going to Hogwarts—we’ll have to go to Diagon Alley and buy his stuff and he’ll already be old enough to have a wand—”
“Oh, I can’t wait for all the Hogwarts letters telling me about his detentions,” James says, grinning. “Hope it’s big enough for a Howler, my parents never send me one.”
“That’s because Monty and Mia pampered you.”
“Well, there’s that.” He laughs. “Or maybe he will be a good student like you. No detention. Prefect even.”
“Nah, Sirius influences him too much.” She bites her lip. “We raised him well, right?”
“We still do,” James notes. “What has caused this?”
Lily flushes. “He called me ‘Mum’”.
James blinks. “You wanted him to call you ‘Lily’?”
“No, it’s just… he used to call me Mama. You know.”
“He calls me Dad,” James shrugs, unconcerned. “I think it’s normal? The other kids in school call for their mum, not mama. He is just trying to not sound too childish.”
“I know.” Lily sighs heavily. “It doesn’t make it any easier.”
James kisses her forehead tenderly.
Later that night, Lily goes to Harry’s room to tuck him in for the night. Harry accepts it without complaint, but when she looks around, she realizes his plushies aren’t there anymore.
“Where’s Godric, Harry?” she asks, thinking of the old lion plush that was his favourite. Harry shrugs.
“In the trunk.”
“Oh.” She pauses, collecting her thoughts. “You used to love sleeping with him.”
“I can sleep alone, Mum,” he answers as if she is being silly. Oh, dear.
“Yeah, you can.” She kisses his cheek and is glad when Harry doesn’t grimace; Lily doesn’t think she is ready for her son to reject a bit of motherly attention. “You are my brave cub lion on your own.”
He giggles. It’s a pure sound, happy and so childish, that she feels a strange relief with it. He is growing up, but maybe this will be slow. She hopes she can enjoy every second of it.
Lily caresses his hair until Harry’s eyes start to close, his expression easing even more, then she stands up.
“Goodnight, Harry.”
He rolls in the bed, almost sleeping already. “Goodnight, Mama.”
She pretends his slip doesn’t make her beam all night.

His favorite little farmer// Bull!hybrid Shigaraki x Reader
-> You work as a care keeper in a farm specializing in caws and bulls hybrids. You love all of them but you just can’t help but caring a little bit more for your little Tomura, who in your eyes look so helpless. What you don’t know is that you’re not the only one having not so professional thoughts. So what happened when your favorite hybrid tells you he wants a mate.
Tags: Lot of smut and it’s intense. Bull hybrid Shigaraki. Mention of mating, of knotting. Anal, milking, prostate stimulation, use of toys, sub Shigaraki. Lot of cum. Dacryphylia. Jealous reader and possessive Tomura. Lot of fluff, they just love each other very much. Reader is gender neutral.
I’ve red @hanji-is-life post on bull Bakugou and Deku and I just got a huge brain rot :((
Tumblr media
Shigaraki could spend hours just looking at you. From his stable, he loved watching you work, you were so pretty. You were working so hard in the farm, always carrying something and taking good care of the cows. He loved you so much, and that meant a lot because you were the only farm keeper that he allowed to get close to him. None of the others could approach him without getting nasty bites and all. Every bull had their favorite keeper. Bakugou, Kirishima and even Midoriya had their favorite but in the end they all took turn to take care of the bulls. But not you. You were his one and only. No one was mad at him for that, not even you. They all understood. He wasn’t like the others, as he arrived in the farm in a pitiful shape. He was deadly skinny, hurt, and traumatized, unable to let a human near him. Mistreatments towards hybrid were current even more in farms. But farms like he was right now was the proof that it was possible to met good people. You had been the one to take care of him when he arrived, you fed him, washed him, made sure he wasn’t cold. You even slept in the stale next to him to make sure he was okay during the night. Slowly he had warm up to you, as he was becoming a bit more healthy every day. He was still not the biggest bull of the farm but he looked so much better. All because you took care of him. And you were so understanding, taking his defense and never pressuring him into having interaction with others. The only person he needed was you anyway.
“Hi Tomu, how are you today?
-I’m fine... And you?
-I am doing great! The weather is perfect today!”
He smiled slightly, so happy you were here with him.
“Do you want to go outside for a bit? I’ll clean your stable as you go outside.
-Can’t I just stay here with you?
-Tomu, you need to go outside a bit.”
But he really wanted to stay with you. He knew you needed space to work and that he’ll be able to see you soon but he couldn’t help it.
“If you’re nice after you’re time outside I’ll groom you!”
He finally nodded, excited to come back so you can take care of him. You lead him to the outside field, choosing one that was empty, knowing he preferred to be alone. You waved at him goodbye, your hand brushing his shoulder. His ears fluttered and he blushed slightly. He watched you go back inside, noticing how your hips sway from right to left. He couldn’t take his eyes away from your ass until you disappeared behind a wall.
“So you gonna do something about that little farmer or?”
He turned around seeing Bakugou, Midoriya, and Kirishima, in the field next to his. He looked at the wood barrier that separated them from him.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.
-Oh so she isn’t yours? You’re not interested?
-I didn’t say that”, he said firmly.
Of course you were his.
“Bakugou is right Shigaraki, look it worked out for us! I have no idea how, but somehow it worked out.
-It’s literally so easy for you, she is basically caring about you all the time.
Yeah! She is your personal keeper!”
He couldn’t deny the fact that he wanted you. So bad it sometimes kept him awake at night. Even more when he was seeing how the others all had their little mate for themselves. He was even more jealous when the rut season was coming in and that they all had their personal keeper to take care of it. That was maybe because they all were part of the breeder program. Maybe if he agreed to it, you would let him breed you. Just thinking about made him excited.
“You know how some of us had to battled to get them to let us claim them like that. Bakugou literally had to fight.
-Hey!
-It’s true, they had to put you in an isolated stable just because of it.
-He was in time out. Just like a little kid.
Do you want to die?”
Shigaraki stopped listening. But they were right. He needed to act up.
“Oi Tomu! Ready to go back ?” He turned toward your voice, to see you wave at him. He ran toward you, ready to go back.
“Guys, do y’all want to go back inside ?
-No thanks Y/n!
-Ok, be nice then”
You walked in front of him, and he realized how much you were swinging your hips. Maybe he was just noticing it now? Or maybe you were doing it on purpose? What if you were gonna go into heat soon?! No, humans did not have heat. Not that he knew about. He came back to a clean stable, a lot of food, and he even saw a few treats that were not supposed to be here.
“Shhh, don’t say anything. I don’t need to be accused of doing favoritism.”
He chuckled, getting ready for the grooming session. He couldn’t wait. And god he did not regret anything. Your gentle fingers were playing in his fur, detangling everything, you even braided the hair on his head , taking them away from his face. It felt so good. You applied the cream he needed for his skin condition around his eyes, smiling proudly. Your dropped to your knees in front of him suddenly, your face inches of his crotch. You were just checking his hooves, but fuck, he could feel himself get hard. It didn’t help that you started touching his thighs, squeezing them amazed.
“You become so strong Tomu, look at you”
Yeah he had become strong, for you, so you could be proud of him and proud to be his mate.
“Y/n?
-Yes?
-I would like to become a breeder.”
You stopped your movement, staying silent.
“Y/n?
-Y-eah sorry. Hm of course you can. It’s normal. You need a mate after all.”
Ah. There has been a misunderstanding.
“I have to go. I’ll let you know when we’ll start the program okay?”
You almost ran out of the stable, leaving him alone and sad. Fuck, why didn’t he simply told you he needed you. He didn’t need a mate, he needed you to be his mate. He felt like breaking the door and running after you. Maybe he should have followed Bakugou’s method and just tell you right up that he needed to knot you. No definitely no... He really hoped he didn’t made you sad, or that you were mad at him. It would kill him.
Your heart was clenching in your chest. What was even that pain? Why did you felt like someone had stabbed you. It was stupid, you knew that day would come. It was selfish of you to react like this. It was in his nature, he needed a mate. You already had blocked him enough. You still cried under the shower this same night. The next day you found yourself talking with your colleagues about it. Most of the bull who were used for reproduction, didn’t have any contacts with the cows. They often were violent and cows were too precious for this. But the softer ones had the chance to chose a mate and actually have a physical relationship with them. That would probably be the case for Shigaraki you thought. You needed to ask him what he thought of it. You arrived at his stable, surprised not to see him look at you. He was always up at this hour normally. You called his name, but he didn’t answer. Worried you opened his stable, just to find him laying down on the hay.
“Tomura is everything okay?”
You looked around, noticing he had not eat any of the thing you had gave him yesterday. Worried you kneeled next to him, touching his shoulder gently. He did not react, but you still heated a little noise. A sob.
“Tomu, love, tell me what’s wrong, please I’m so worried...”
He turned around a bit and you could see he had cried, his pretty red eyes puffy. You even noticed how his neck and under eyes seemed to be red, like he scratched it.
“I’m sorry Y/n. I made you sad.
-No, Tomu, you didn’t. What are you talking about.
-Yesterday. You left upset with me. I hate it. I can’t live with you being upset.
-I was not upset baby. It’s all my fault. I was selfish by reacting like this. But it’s totally normal to want a mate. Tomu, baby, you don’t have to care about me.
-But I don’t want a cow, I want you.
-What?”
He sat down, looking at you in the eyes.
“If I told you I wanted to be a part of the program it just because I wanted you to help me. Like the others are doing. I don’t want to breed anyone. Just you.”
Your heart was going to explode. He wanted you, you thought. You heart was swelling from happiness.
“Y/n, don’t cry please” he cried out panicking.
“No baby it’s fine. I’m just happy. Fuck, I would love to help you.”
He took you in his arms, almost tackling you to the ground. All you could hear was little “don’t cry” coming from him.
You ended up leaving him alone, as you still made sure he was eating correctly. He suddenly seemed way more relaxed, even though you could see a deep blush on his cheeks. His little ears were fluttering and his tail was moving from right to left excitedly. You busied yourself all day, not seeing Shigaraki much. Bakugo and Midoriya had break into a fight and you and an other helper had to take them away from each other. Midoriya told you that his rut was going to come soon and that he couldn’t stand when Bakugou came too close from one of your colleagues. The worst was that Bakugou had no interest in them, he had his own favorite keeper, he just liked to mess with Deku. You decided that those two won’t be having any contacts until their rut had passed. You reassured Deku that his s/o was fine and that they’ll come see him soon. You put him in a stable far away from the others, where he would be in a calm environment. You finally finished your day way later than usual. You were exhausted and felt like you needed a thousand showers. But you still decided to go and see how Shigaraki was doing before going to sleep. When you arrived he was already looking for you, his eyes shining as he saw you getting closer.
“Oi Y/n! You look tired .... What happened
- We had to separate Midoriya and Bakugou earlier, they are going into rut. So I had a lot of work. It was a long day.”
You saw him look at you with more attention, his eyebrows knitted tightly. He looked a bit mad when he approached his head from you, his little nose pressed against your neck, you jolt in surprise when you felt the metal of his septum piercing against your neck.
“You smell like him....
-Like who?
-Deku...
-Well I worked with him so...
-I don’t like it. Normally you smell more like me...”
He never acted territorial toward you before. Maybe it was because of your new arrangement. You would need to talk to him about it, even if you new it was probably useless. None of the other bulls had been reasonable till now. You doubted he would be an exception. You finally left him, promising him to take a shower as soon as you were home and to come back the day after smelling all clean. You’ve never been that happy to leave in the house near the farm. A bunch of other keepers had decided to leave here together as it was cheaper and so close from work. You took a shower like promised and ate something before going to bed. Before going to sleep, you decided to do a bit of research. You knew how breeding worked. You had to supervise the thing a few time which had mortified you at first. Now you learned how to get detached and let the hybrids do their things while you were working somewhere else. But the “milking” part of the process kinda made you worried. You never had that much intimacy with an hybrid. You knew some of your colleagues had and that they even went further than just the milking. There was nothing wrong with that. It was actually pretty common between hybrids and humans. But you were a shy person, in that area at least. Thinking about just touching Shigaraki like that made a wave of arousal travel through your body. You didn’t know if you were supposed to feel like this. Maybe he wasn’t asking for this. He just wanted you to do this as a professional. And you were here, thinking about it as if you were talking about your boyfriend. After re reading the method a few time, the last thing you wanted was to hurt him in some way, you went to sleep, head full of a certain hybrid.
Shigaraki slept way better than the night before, but he was still annoyed about the smell situation. Maybe he should start senting you. After all you were his. He knew he was starting to get into his rut too. Soon every bull around here would be in the same situation. It was spring so it was expected. But this time he would spend it with you and fuck he couldn’t help but be happy about it. He woke a bit early so he would clean his stable, he didn’t want to make it look messy for when you’ll come. He knew it was ridiculous but he couldn’t help it. He even cleaned himself, making sure nothing was caught in his fur. He felt suddenly so hot, he couldn’t wait for you to come. Maybe it was the general tension in the air. Knowing that there was other bull in rut around here. It made him crazy. Why couldn’t you just hurry? Maybe you weren’t even gonna do anything today. What if he got his hopes up and you weren’t planning on doing anything today? He looked at how hard he was becoming, kinda embarrassed.
“Hey Tomu!”
He jumped at the sound of your voice. You looked so pretty today. You looked pretty every day but he couldn’t point his finger on what made you look so beautiful today. Maybe it was the way you styled your hair, the makeup you wore when you usually didn’t.
“Sorry I didn’t mean to scare you. Didn’t you hear me come your way?” You chuckled.
He had to have you, he thought.
“So Tomu, I wanted to ask you when you wanted to start the breeding program. Bakugou and Midoriya are already in rut, normally yours start soon after, doesn’t it?
-It’s starting I think...”
His voice was quiet and you could see the blush on his cheeks and how he seemed more tense than usual.
“Oh okay... I’m gonna take your temperature and I’ll see from there.”
You placed the little tube on his tongue, waiting a minute before looking back. Yeah he was definitely entering his rut.
“ Ok Tomu, I’m gonna get ready and I’ll be back. We should wait till you’re completely in heat to start. Do you need me to explain how the procedure work?”
You were speaking so much words and he wasn’t even listening to them. He could only concentrate on your face, watching your lips move. He took a deep breath and he could smell you. So strong. You smelled so good.
“Don’t leave now, fuck, I need you”
You seemed conflicted for a bit.
“Ok I’ll be back in a minute, I swear it’ll be quick but I need to get something”
You didn’t let him answer as you were already leaving. He was gonna die if you didn’t come back quickly. None of his rut had been that hard on him before. It generally was longer than it was intense and it took a all day to settle down. But today his entire body was on fire and he was already so hard. You ran as fast as you could toward the office. You had let everything you needed there. You never grabbed a bag so fast, the other hybrids were looking at you weirdly when they saw you running through the farm. You came back to Tomura’s stable finding him on his knees, his cock in his hand .
“Y/n... fuck please”
He looked so gorgeous. His cock was an angry red, leaking precum like crazy. You dropped to your knees, next to him trying to comfort him a bit. You needed to get him in position so you could prep him, but he didn’t look like he wanted to move. He couldn’t stop pumping his length, not being able to cum.
“Ok I need you to get on your knees baby, you can do this for me?”
He whined but still did what you told him. He was arching his back, his cute little ears were flat against his hair. His tail was swiping in the air almost hitting you. You took the bottle of lube, squirting some on your gloved hands. He was too far gone to see anything at this point but you still wanted him to know what was going to happen. You lubbed the the upper part of what looked like a suction cup, making sure the milking tool won’t hurt him. You touch his shoulder making him look at you. You almost moan when you saw his red cheeks, teary eyes, drool almost dripping out of his mouth.
“I’m gonna put this on you baby, are you ready?
-No I want you. Not that please Y/n!
-This first, I promise I’m gonna touch you, I’ll make you feel really good.”
He didn’t say anything, you were already grabbing him in your hand. He was so heavy, throbbing against your palm. Fuck he would feel so good inside you. You stroked him a few times not being able to resist seeing him cry and buck his hips in your hand. You placed the lubbed part against his tip, his eyes falling on your hand.
“What is it?” He asked his voice quiet.
“It will help you... stay stimulated...It’s the same process we used for the cows”
It indeed looked the devices that were used to milk the cows. You pushed it down his length, watching it get swallowed. You watched Tomura, watching his eyes rolled in his head, tongue out of his mouth. Fuck you wish that was you. You wish you were the one making him feel this good.
“Ok baby, now I’m gonna touch you ok?
-Yes more !”
He threw his ass in the air, his hooves hitting the ground hard. You touched his fur, silky against your palm. Your hand caress the curve of his ass, gently spreading his cheeks.
“Y/n!
-Yes?
-W- why are you touching me there?
He didn’t had the time to answer before you push one finger inside. He gasped, throwing his head back.
« Y/n ! F-fuck »
You forgot everything when you saw him starting to rock his hips, your finger getting deeper inside him. You slowly put another finger in, his flesh already so tender you did not met any resistance. You crooked you fingers inside, your finger tips digging into his flesh’ hitting his sweet spot hard. He screamed, arching his back cumming so hard it made his entire body shake. He kept cumming as you didn’t stop moving your fingers.
« More! Please more! »
You added a new finger, the third one stretching him wide.
« Fuck, Tomura, you came so hard you’re so good. Your little hole is swallowing my fingers »
He moaned, clenching more and you looked at the tube seeing more and more cum dripping inside.
«  I’m gonna milk you hard love, you’re so pretty like this fuck »
The words were just coming out of your mouth shamelessly at this point. You knew it was not professional, but you couldn’t help it. He was driving you crazy, his pretty face was flushed, his eyes full of tears, lips bitten red and all wet with drool.
« I can’t stop! It feels too good, can’t stop- »
His voice was broken, and he was trusting his hips, making harder and harder for you to hold him down.
« I want to be inside you, please Y/n! Please! I want to cum inside- »
You wanted that to, so bad, but you knew you couldn’t right now.
« A little more love »
He was shaking from all his limbs. Your fingers started to get tired from all this, but with a final twist of your wrist, you pressed three fingers hard against his flesh, making him collapsed from pleasure.
« Too much, it hurts, please »
He was shaking on the ground, his eyes rolling in the back of his head. You stopped the movement with your fingers. You let him go of the equipment, finally freeing his cock. You looked at the machine, impressed by the amount of cum.
« Tomu are you okay? »
He nodded slowly, smiling as he felt your hand on his hair.
“It still feels good...
-I didn’t hurt you right?
-No...”
You took him in you arms, laying in the hay with him, murmuring in his ear how much you loved him. He looked so vulnerable right now, but here he was, his face pressed against your chest, breathing calmly. You kissed the top of his head, smiling as well.
“I love you, my mate” he said, pressing his lips against his neck.
“I love you too.”
You looked down at him, seeing his eyes closed, his breathing study. You needed to take the material back and to start cleaning, but you felt so good right now. Maybe it could wait a little bit more.

Peter Parker was the kind of guy who would get easily flustered if he was to talk to a girl, or any human as a matter of fact.
So it came off as a big shock to the Avengers when they found out that he, the shy nerdy Peter Parker, had a girlfriend at all.
They were all having a family dinner (something about bonding, Tony had said), when you called him, interrupting him from some Spidey adventure story he was reciting.
"Sorry guys, gotta take this," He said, phone smushed between his cheek and shoulder, fork halfway through his mouth, "uh, hey babe, what happened? Everything okay?"
Bucky and Steve were the first one to break out of their shocked stares as Peter called someone "babe" on the phone.
Surely you don't call your friend babe, right?
"Peter! Thank God you picked up, can you come over right now?" You said on the phone.
"Uh actually, I'm having dinner, is it okay if I come over in an hour or so?" He said, ignoring the shouted whispers about a brewing conspiracy of who could it be on the phone in the background.
"Okay, but don't forget like last time! I'm actually calling you to help me out with our chem lab manual-"
"-didn't we do it during homeroom yesterday?"
"Yeah but I need help with this one experiment, please Petey? I really need your help with this." You whine, hoping that he would catch your drift. But he didn't apparently, because he sighed, looking over his shoulders to see the Avengers with perked up ears, and replied;
"Okay fine. I'll be there in an hour Okay? Bye." He said and hung up, pocketing his phone and making his way to the dining room, only to be assaulted by a hundred and one questions.
"Peter who was that-"
"You've been keeping secrets from your father figure now-"
"Hope you're being safe, if you know what I mean-"
"Kids these days." (That was from Steve)
"Guys stop! One by one please!" Peter shouted, holding his hands to his ears, frowning as he glared at them, "why are you all asking these questions?"
"Because kid, if I'm being honest, we don't believe that you have a girlfriend, so spill the beans." Tony sighed, holding his cheek with his elbow on the table.
"Okay ouch. Why is it so hard to believe have a girlfriend?! I'm hot." Peter pouted, crossing his arms to try and look intimidating.
"Because you're you! You're shy nerdy Peter!" Tony said, gesturing at others to back him up.
"I mean, he's not that bad. Quite a charmer." Natasha smirked, sending him a look, which quite frankly, terrified and impressed Peter at the same time.
"Yeah, yeah totally."
"I believe you kid. Are we gonna meet her soon?" Tony rolled his eyes, smiling when he blushed red.
"If she's okay with it." He said, intertwining his fingers.
"Well I hope she is, cause I want to meet the girl who stole my kid's heart."
"Mr. Staaaark!"

Leaving the tower had been a difficult feat, with the constant questions and a snarky comment or two, especially when they found out that you were a cheerleader.
Rapping his knuckles on your apartment door, he smiled as you greeted him with an excited hug. He couldn't help but look at your skirt, the way it enhanced your waistline, and how it fit just right on your thighs, its frills swaying with the sway of your hips-
"Pete? You coming or what?" You laughed, a hand on your room's door as you look over your shoulder with glinting eyes.
"Uh- uh yeah just a minute. Are your parents home?" He asked casually, following you to your room.
"Nah, they're out for tonight." You said, closing the door behind him.
"Oh that's good, which experiment were you- Uh, what are you doing?" He asked, his voice rising an octave as he saw you unbuttoning your shirt, moving your fingers in slow motion as if to tease him.
"I finished my homework yesterday Petey, that's not why I called you." You whispered, straddling his lap as you hold his face, eyes shining with mischief. He instantly felt his dick harden as you rubbed against him, face burning when you traced his cheekbones, kissing his nose and then his lips.
"What, Uh, what did you call me for then?" He stuttered, holding your waist through the skirt's thin material, fingers itching to tear it off you. His heart was racing and he wondered if you could hear it doing so.
"You know why, it's been so long and I miss you baby." You whined, pouting as he unzips your skirt, watching it slide down your thighs in rivulets. You clench your thighs against his waist, intertwining your toes as you felt the space between your legs starting to wet.
"You met me in school yesterday." He mumbled, puffing his cheeks as he strained to keep a straight face, not with you looking so pretty in just your bra and skirt.
You had been overwhelmingly horny the past few hours, craving for your boyfriend's touch, imagining the way he fucked you against your bed frame as it shook with his strength.
"You miss me huh?" He smirked, catching you off guard when he flipped you over, holding you down as he rocked his hips against yours, leaving sloppy, wet kisses down your neck, reaching between your breasts and stopping a moment enough to hear you whine.
"I missed you so much and I want to fuck you now." You said, sucking a breath when he all but tore your bra, arching your back to let his fingers linger on you.
"Missed you too, missed all of you, missed your wet pussy. Wanna show my pretty girl how much I missed her." He growled, sucking on the sensitive skin of your nipple as he massaged your breasts.
"Already wet for me eh?" He whispered, nibbling at your ear as he slid his length into You, "Fuck baby such a tight pussy."
Quickly undressing himself, you openly drooled at how packed your boyfriend was. It was not the first time you would be doing… it together since your six month long relationship, but it was the first time you got to see his dominant side, and it turned you on.
"Mmhmm yeah, only cause your dick is practically blue." You moaned, hissing when he hit a sensitive spot.
"Fuck, oh shit go faster Peter- oh!" You hissed, your skin slapping with his as he thrusts into you with a gusto.
"You like that babygirl?" He asked, eyes scrunching as he threw his head back, feeling your walls clench against his dick as you moved with him.
"Yes! You're so good oh- I'm gonna cum Peter!" You panted, chest heaving as your stamina decreases with every push and pull, your hands fisted on your sheets hard enough for them to pull out of your mattress.
You saw him flush red, confusion showing on your face as you tilted your head, your  almost orgasm forgotten as you held his cheek, "what happened?"
"I- you've never um, org-orgasmed before on me." He muttered, his pupils blown wide as he looks at you with the most innocent look ever, and you would have laughed had his dick still not been inside you, midway in the air, his butt held high above.
"Peter… are You, we've literally fucked so many times and you're getting flustered over me orgasming?" You chuckled, wiping away the sweat forming on his forehead.
"Yeah but you've never come on my bare dick before!" He countered, gulping as he saw you smirk.
"Everything has a first time doesn't it?" You say, picking yourself upright so that you were chest to chest now, your nipples hardening against his bare chest as you rubbed against him, "Wanna try something?"
Your hand slides down to his dick as he nodded a yes, slowly pumping his balls as you kiss his lips. You hear him moan tour name, the sounds sending wetness dripping down your thighs again. Ignoring your thighs, you bent down to lick the tip of his dick, slick with pre cum and bright pink.
"Is this okay?" You ask, swirling your tongue teasingly, wetting his already wet dick with your mouth as you sucked at it with a pop.
"This is amazing baby, keep going." He threw his head back, a growl emitting from deep inside his throat, "wow uhhh."
"Wow what Petey?"
"Wow you're- you're amazing. God I've- I understand why people like being on the receiving end of the job right now."
"Job?" You laughed, "hun this isn't a Job."
"You- you know what I mean!" He chuckled, shaking his head as you continued to suck on it.
"No I don't. Please enlighten me." You smiled, peeping from under your lashes as your tongue works through his hard member.
"I know you know." He whimpered, hands creeping up to his balls as he tried to take care of his blues.
"No. Lemme do it." You slapped his hands, snickering when he whined.
"Oh Tony wants to meet you by the way." He said suddenly, making you groan and fall back dramatically.
"You know I don't do family members Petey." You mumbled, pulling him down, his mouth immediately latching onto the underside of your breasts.
"But why? Am I- aren't we serious enough now?" He asked.
Your heart stuttered at the thought of meeting one of the most important people in his life other than May. You and May had already met (post an unfortunate...accident), not to mention he was freaking Iron Man!
"It's not that. It's just, what if he doesn't like me? Or black widow. I'm not your normal nerdy girl with A grades, what if they think I'm not good enough for you? Or that I'm violating you for Spider-Man? What if-"
"- baby I swear they'll love You! And if they don't then it's their loss, because no matter what you are, who you are friends with, how many A's you get or don't, you'll always be my girl." His voice was soft as his hands moved with featherlight movements, rubbing light circles on your waist, instantly relaxing you.
"Are you sure?" You said, biting your lips and fiddling with his hair. He gave another moan as your fingers played with his hair, scratching slightly behind his ear.
"Yes bub, they will love you. You're very important to me, you know that right?" He said.
"Even if I wear short skirts and hang out with jocks?" You giggled, resting your forehead on his toned chest, playing with his skin.
"Especially if you wear those short skirts." He smirked, making you roll your eyes as you slapped his chest slightly. Sighing, you kissed him again, rolling over so you were laid on top of him.
Wrapping your arms around him, you let yourself fall asleep, with his clothes in your room and hand in your hair.

Peter woke up the next morning, the incessant ringing of his phone working as an alarm.
Groaning he rolled over, careful as to not wake you up, squinting at the bright screen of his phone. Before he could cut the ringer though, it cut off on its own, only to be taken over by a text.
You didn't come home last night kiddo 😏
Shit.

Chapter 1
summery: after training to inherit the female titan you decided to go through with running away from Malrey but when Reiner wont go with you you decide to go alone.
You never thought about leaving Marley, at least not by yourself. Reiner was supposed to go with you; that was always the plan until now.
As the rain picked up, so did your sobs. "Reiner please you promised me you'd go with me" you cried holding on to both his hands. He was so cold but not from the rain that you both were standing in but he was simply a cold person at the moment.
"Stop being like this Y/n.. you know I can't go with you" he pulled his cold hands out of your small warm ones. If you were near any house he knew your sobs could be heard by everyone.
You couldn't understand why he was being like this. He promised so long ago that you'd go together. "You promised!" You shouted at him as you wiped away your tears. "You said you'd go with me, Reiner what changed?!"
The silence that followed your question was so beyond painful. You knew why he wouldn’t go right? “Y/n'' he paused for a moment as he questioned how to say this without hurting you any further. “I’m inheriting the armored titan, that's a really big deal. I can’t go with you, I need to be here with my family” He said as he turned and began to walk away. “Even though I want to I can’t” you couldn’t hear the last part even if he wanted you to.
Your tears began to stream down your cold cheeks again. “Renier please I’m supposed to get the female titan. Why does it matter if you get the armored!!” you paused to see if he'd respond. “Reiner please..We're supposed to go together..” you choked out as you tried to stop the tears. You only began to cry harder when he kept walking. “Fine!! I’ll go alone then!” You screamed at him before running back to your home.
He didn’t believe you’d actually run away but you did. A week later when Reiner was walking past your home to go see Annie and Bertholdt he heard your mother screaming your name and a young Colt Grice trying to help find you. “Colt what’s going on?” he asked the small boy.
The young boy looked up to the taller boy with tears running down his cheeks “They haven’t been able to find Y/n since yesterday” he cooked out between sobs.  Colt loved you. You always babysat him so in his eyes you were like a sister.
Reiner pulled the young boy into a tight hug. “Hey hey it’s okay they’ll find her she’ll be alright” he whispered to the boy as he carried him to your mother. You actually left Marley. God he hoped you’d be okay. “Hey what’s going on?” he asked your mother.
“She’s gone Reiner! My daughters gone tell me you know where she is” your mother wished he knew or that he would tell her. “One of our Warriors is gone, one that you love, tell me where she is please.” She broke down in tears as she held on tightly to one of your coats.
“I don’t know where she is, I'm sorry…” he said as he dried colt tears trying to ignore his own that were starting to slip. He did know he just couldn’t tell anyone that's the least he could do after not going with you. If they found out you snuck on a Marley ship they might have killed you. He didn’t even know if you were alive.
A few days later the Marley ship you had snuck on landed and you found your way to the walls. Having grown up in Marley and trained to be a titan shifter you knew how to survive in the unfamiliar land. It took you three days to reach the walls. You were dehydrated, starving and hurt when you collapsed outside the walls. to your luck you collapsed when titans were not active and the survey corp was getting back from an expedition.
“Erwin Levi come here!” You heard a voice call from beside you. You were too weak to open your eyes or move much but you could tell it was a woman's voice.“Look, a kid made it outside the walls!”
You heard the sound of two people landing close to you. “She's extremely hurt. We should take her to Grisha and look for her family.” said one of the men. He sounded older than the women and much more serious. “Levi come here” he said as you forced yourself to open your eyes just a little all you could see were the wings on their backs. Those wings brought you hope and made you feel safe. Maybe it was those three voices as well but the sight of the wings brought you hope.
“Lets just take her to Grisha. I doubt she has parents considering she's outside the walls. We would have been told if any parent lost their child that knew how to escape.” the other man said. You felt thick arms pick up your small body “she's probably really young maybe 10” that was the last thing you heard before pain and tiredness took over you.
Hours later you began to wake up slowly. When you had been brought to Grisha Yeager you had a lot of injuries. You were dehydrated, had a sprained ankle, a broken rib and a few cuts that needed stitches. As you began to wake up you felt the pain from the rib that you had broken but also how dizzy you were from the dehydration and hunger.
“Y/N don’t” a voice said from across the room. It was a familiar voice but one you haven't heard in years. The man brought over a bowl and a glass of water for you. “What were you thinking coming here”
You opened your eyes slowly. You didn't recognize the dimly lit room you found yourself in. you looked around for a moment before your eyes settled on the man that was standing a little far from you. It took a moment for your vision to focus but as it did you were able to make out the features of the man “doctor Yeager?” your voice was weak and scratchy. You were very little when you met the doctor but your home back in Marley had many photos in it and a few were of you and Grisha when you were a baby. You had few memories of him but knew his voice.
He helped you sit up and handed you the cup of water. “I'm surprised you know who I am. What are you doing here? Do you have the other shifters with you?’ he asked, trying not to overwhelm you with questions but god he had so many. He knew you, Reiner, Bertholdt and Marcel were going to be inheriting titans so he was confused as to why only one of you was there and why so early.
You looked away and stared at your bruised hands “it's just me. I don't have a titan either. I ran away but no one would go with me.” the thought if Reiner betraying you like he did hurt so much. It felt like having your heart ripped out.
Grisha sighed and handed you the bowl “here eat something. Well you didn't surfer anything too bad. You'll be all healed up in a month or so. Did you bring anything with you?” you shook your head no “okay that's fine i'll get you some clothes from Mikasa. Why'd you leave marley though”
You couldn't remember why you wanted to run away but you knew you did want to. “I didn't want to be some weapon to the people who turned my dad into a titan. I didn't want to die young” you felt tears fall down your cheeks and whipped them away. You took a bite of the food he had given you in hopes of it preventing your sobs from slipping past your lips. You missed your friends and your mom so much now.
“Do you know who saved you today?”
You paused for a moment and started to remember those blue and white wings. “The people with the blue and white wings on their backs right?” the wings on the back of the capes they wore was the only thing you really remembered about them but those wings saved you.
“Yes, the wings of freedom. They are part of the survey corps. If you stay here, I want you to join them” he said as he put away bandages and everything he used to heal you. “Those wings are something i hope to see on your back soon to”
“Dad, the scouts are back!” a young boy yelled down to his father.
Grisha wrapped a blanket around your shoulders “okay thank you Eren will you and Mikasa come keep her company while i speak to them? And have her bring some spare cloths”  he said walking to the door and letting the two children in to the room “i'll be back”
After he walked away a young girl with long black hair handed you a neatly folded stack of clothes. “Here” she said as she walked to the young boy with brown hair. You said thank you quietly and changed when they walked out of the room to let you change.
Upstairs grisha greeted the three scouts who brought you to him. “Is there any chance you can water her doctor Yeager? '' Erwin asked. They didn't know anyone who wanted a child. It was another mouth to feed and most of the people around Shiganshina didn't want to deal with that.
“I can't take her. I'm sorry Erwin but can i in trust her to the scouts? She's a strong child who obviously spent days beyond the walls and only the four of us know that but she's clearly very smart and she could be a good scout.” Grisha asked the three in front of him.
Levi sighed, shaking his head “We're soldiers not babysitters. How are we going to care for a child?” he asked. He was already annoyed that this was happening; he didn't want to care for a child. No one in the scouts did.
“I'll do what I can to care for her and I'll even pay for her food for a while but my condition is that she joins the scouts early. She could be a good asset.” Grisha said looking at Hange and Erwin hoping they'd agree with him.
“Well I think we should do it not any child can survive beyond the walls. She's obviously a strong child. She can help me study titans!” Hange said and Erwin and Levi knew that sparkle she had in her eyes. There was no backing out now. They four agreed that by the time you were 12 that you'd be joining the scouts way earlier than anyone.
When you came from the room you were met by three soldiers, two men and one woman. “Hello Y/n I'm Hange Zoe, these are my friends Erwin and Levi!” she chirped pointing to the blonde and then then the shorter man with black hair. “Um hi” you said to the three. “So tell me Y/n how'd you get out of the walls?” Hange asked as she walked with you to their horses.
What were you supposed to tell her? That you're from another island and get yourself killed? “I don't really remember it's all foggy.” you said not making eye contact so none of them knew the truth. “I only remember the three of you saving me”
“That's alright you were very weak when we found you.” the tall blonde said giving you a soft smile. His voice and smile brought you a lot of comfort as well.
All the way back to headquarters you talked Hange and rode on the back of her horse. Every Once in a while Erwin would chime in and talk to you as well. He was surprised you survived so long beyond the walls after a while you looked over  to the shorter man and whisper to Hange “is he okay he seems mad” you asked tightening your hold on her waist. “Oh he's fine, that's just his face” she said trying not to laugh “watch it four eyes” Levi said shooting her a mean scare. You couldn't really tell if they were friends or enemies.
A few months later you were at the scout headquarters training when wall Maria fell. When you were told the news it felt like your heart had dropped to your stomach. You hoped Eren, Mikasa and Carla were alright. They were your dearest friends.  The scouts had just returned from outside the walls. You weren't allowed to go with them so you were stuck at headquarters wondering if your beloved friends were alright. Erwin seemed so distant that day but he was like that anytime they had lost that many scouts but the fact he couldn't help those beyond wall rose hurt as well.
That night you overheard someone from the garrison describing what the titans looked like and how strong they were.  It wasn't hard for you to figure out it was your dear friends Annie, Reiner, Bertholdt and Marcel. It made you sick thinking you were supposed  to be part of that mission. You tried to hide your sobs as you walked back to your room but Hange heard you like she always did and brought in hers and tried to comfort you the best she could without asking questions. It was easier not to ask sometimes when it came to you.
You got persimmon from the commander to go look for your friends the next day and when you did you soon learned that Carla was eaten by a titan and Eren watched. Armin and Mikasa had survived with very minor injuries. You couldn't imagine that but at the same time you could. Your father was turned into a titan when you were a baby but you couldn't remember that. Your pain wasn't like the pain Eren was feeling; it was very different.
Over the next two years you finished training, went on missions with the scouts, and helped Hange study titans. She and Erwin kept you by their sides constantly. You helped Erwin with plans quite a lot and you helped Hange do research. When it came to Levi most of the time you two spent around one another was training, helping him clean or trying to assist with plans. The three of them were like your parents. You had thought that you'd have to actively try to avoid those you knew from Marley but you found yourself busy enough that you didn't need to actively avoid them.
It had been two years since the fall of Wall Maria and it was Eren, Mikasa, and Armin's first day in training. “Shatas is just going to try and intimidate you so don't take it personally okay guys?” you said fixing your jacket and shirt. “He won't intimate me. I doubt he's that scary.” `Eren said. “Oh Eren, you're in for a treat”you said. You heard Shatas yell your name and you waved goodbye to your three friends and ran off to him. Erwin asked you to help with training today since he and Hange didn't have anything for you to do.
“Why'd she get to join early? Isn't she the same age as us?” Armin asked as he walked beside his two friends. “I know she's told me before but I still don't understand.”
“I think she said it was special orders from commander Erwin, '' Mikasa said, moving her hair behind her. You were the youngest scout out there and one of the strongest too. The three of them took their spaces in the line up as did everyone else. You and shatas walked over to the group as he began his grilling introductions of everyone. He really was rough on the recruits. You winced a little when he headbutted Jeans and when you saw Connie salute wrong.  Shatas shouted your name “what did Springer do wrong?” he asked loudly. You fixed your poster and did the same salute “he did the salute on the wrong side sir your heart isn't on your right side” you said before looking over to some of the recruits. “Be more like that young scout Springer” he said walking to the next person.”
A familiar pair of brown eyes found their way where you stood. You had gotten taller since the last time he had seen you your hair had changed quite a bit too. All he could think about was how beautiful you looked. You could feel the pair of eyes staring daggers into you and looked over to where it felt like the person was. Your eyes meet his brown ones. Reiner was the last person you wanted to see. He shouldn't even be standing in those spots. Annine and Bertholdt shouldn't be with him either yet here they are. One staring at you and the other two looking straight ahead at Shatas.  You looked away from Reiner as fast as possible. You felt like your heart was about to jump out of your chest from how anxious you were.
“Y/n make sure that Kirstein and Springer aren't hurt”
“Yes sir”  You walked over to the two boys as he began to grill a girl who was eating a potato. You'd find out that night her name was Sasha. You helped Jean up first “is your head okay?” you asked as you checked the small lump that was now growing on his head. Jean nodded and tried not to stare at you as you helped Connie up. “What about you are you okay?” Connie nodded “yeah i'm good that just hurt a little.”
“I'm Y/n. I'm in the scout regiment. If you have any questions or anything, ask me. I'm a lot nicer than Shatas'' you whispered the last part to the two boys and walked back to your spot after you checked on Armin.
After Shatas had pretty much grilled everyone Reiner had realized he finally had the chance to talk to you after these past few years. He began to walk towards you. Bertholdt had tried to tell him not to, Annie wanted to try and stop him but it wasn't her business but she had to admit she missed you too so maybe it wasn't that bad of an idea to let Reiner talk to you. As he began to approach you a woman called out your name “Y/n!! I've come to steal you back for a little while”
You laughed a little, “Hi Hange, does the commander need me?” you asked as you walked to her, completely passing Reiner not giving him a chance to speak to you. You didn't want to talk anyways, you were still processing that he was there and that those three killed half of humanity. After you had seen them you had guessed Marcel didn't make it.
“Actually both me and the commander need you for a moment” Hange said as you waved goodbye to Eren and Armin. You walked with Hange and said goodbye to Shatas. She sure did seem to have good timing. You didn't know if you would be able to keep your cool with Reiner. You had spotted him out of the corner of your eye.
You did the best you could to avoid him after he joined the cadets. Being a scout you didn't really have to try all that hard you were either on expeditions or you were helping the captains or the commander. When you had free time you were with your friends. You'd cut Mikasa's hair for her, do what you could to help Eren get stronger and sometimes you could be found reading with Armin. Being friends with those three meant you made friends with some of the other cadets like Connie, Sasha, Jean and Marco. Sometimes you'd cut Connie's hair or you'd train with Jean and show him some really beautiful spots. When you were found with Jean Marco was there too.
After about six months Bertholdt tried to talk to you again when he found you walking around one day with someone from the scouts. “You should talk to him, maybe you guys could patch things up” Bertholdt said as he handed you some of an apple he cut up. The two of you were sitting somewhere out of sight but not too far away so that you could watch the sunset.
You shrugged a little and took the apple slices “I don't want to talk to him right now. I still can't forgive him” you said, looking up at the sky. You always loved the sun sets in Paradis. They were far more beautiful than the ones in marley. “Talking to you is hard to but him it seems impossible to talk to him.”
Berhtoldt knew you didn't forgive Reiner. You made that very clear by how you acted when you ran into the cadets and ignored the three of them. It was just better that way for now. You still loved the tall blonde deeply but how can you forgive someone for what he did? As a child you always held promises close to your heart so when reiner refused to go with you that was one of the worst acts of betrayal.
“At least keep talking to me okay.”
You nodded, taking another apple slice from the boy “okay but don't tell Reiner I'm not ready for that yet.”

Fake Marriage
(A/N): It's me, finally writing again! This was requested by an anon, I hope you enjoy it!
Summary: Spencer's oldest daughter's boyfriend marries the younger one jokingly. But what happens, when they notice that she didn't get the joking part?
Warnings: Sad toddler (lmk if there is something else)
Wordcount: 1.1k
✨Masterlist✨ _________________________________
(Y/N)’s greatest role model is her older sister, Mireya. Even though they have a huge age gap of twelve years between them, they are inseparable. That’s why the four year old is pretty upset when the teenager is out with her boyfriend.
“Daddy, when will Mireya come home? I have to show her the picture I drew of her and me in kindergarten.” Spencer watches the toddler climbing onto the chair next to him, making sure she doesn’t fall off. Quickly he shuffles all the crime scene photos and reports into the case file he has to finish in order to get the day of Halloween off.
The father can only hope he was fast enough, ever since (Y/N) started reading on an advanced level no written word is safe from her, even though some meanings are too dark for her innocent soul.
“After dinner, when you are already asleep, Honey. Do you want to give it to her yourself tomorrow morning or should I do it?” The girl huffed at that answer. It takes everything in Spencer to stop himself from smiling. After all, her ‘mad’ face looks more like an angry puppy.
She crosses her arms over her chest. “I’ll do it tomorrow. It is so unfair, now that she has that stupid boy I don’t see her anymore. Can you make them break up, Daddy?”
Spencer smiles at her proposal. “You know, Honey, I’m also bummed out that Mireya is not home as much as she used to”, he starts to explain the situation to her, “But we have to accept that she is growing up. And you already met Joshua, he is really nice to your sister. You even told me that you liked him as her boyfriend.” The father picks her up from her seat and places the child into his own lap.
She cuddles into his chest. “Boys are still dumb.” Silently the father hopes that (Y/N) is going to keep that opinion for a few years longer. Or better forever.
It is a week now until Halloween and Mireya has Joshua over for dinner. “Sweetheart, do you know what you want to dress up as?” Spencer asks the toddler as he puts veggies onto her plate. (Y/N) looks a little weary of it before answering.
“I wanna be the same Reya will be!” She says excitedly. Every year since she was born, the sisters had matching costumes. One time the girl was dressed as a koala baby and the teenager was the matching koala mother. It’s kind of needless to say that (Y/N) sat the whole night on her back.
Mireya glances at her boyfriend. “Uhm, actually Joshua and I wanted to dress as an old married couple, you know. I didn’t really plan on us matching again”, she explains while biting her lip, afraid of her sister’s reaction.
(Y/N) visibly shrunks at that. “Oh, I-I uhm. OK.” Silence falls upon the table, everyone is a little unsure on how to approach the toddler. “Are you really married?” She asks suddenly.
Her sister chokes on the sip of water she just took while Joshua tries to not turn beet red. “I- We aren’t, Peanut. Why do you wanna know?” He answers. “Because I wanna marry someone too!” The toddler says with such confidence, it’s adorable.
Now it’s Spencer’s turn to choke on his food. “Uhm, I can marry you, if you want me to? But you have to finish your green veggies in return, they are good for you.” (Y/N) seems to debate with herself over the options before nodding and wolfing everything on her plate down.
The next day the toddler is only seen with a wide smile on her face. “Oh, what got Baby Wonder 2.0 so happy today?” Derek asks as soon as he spots her when Mireya walks in with her after school and kindergarten have ended.
“I am married!” She sings. Her sister looks a little uncomfortable at that. “Oh, and to who? You know, I have to meet them to know if they are good enough for you”, the agent teases back, while shooting a questioning look towards the older sister.
“You know him already, Uncle Derek. It’s Joshua!” Now the puzzle pieces fall for him together. “Oh. Cupcake, I think your Auntie Penny has a cookie jar with your name on it. Anderson, can you bring her down?” Happily the other agent takes the toddler’s hand, ready to skip next to her.
“So, Joshua just couldn’t decide between you two or what happened?” He asks the older Reid. Mireya sighs desperately. “No, it’s just that he is an only child and doesn’t know that kids can’t grasp the concept of jokes yet. Now he has to break up with her tonight. This will be a fun evening.”
They talk a bit of different strategies on how to tell (Y/N) the truth without hurting her feelings too bad until Spencer comes along, done with paperwork for the day. They decided to eat at the toddler’s favorite restaurant in order for her to get easily distracted.
But what really happens is the whole opposite.
“Uhm, (Y/N), do you remember how I told you yesterday we can get married, if you eat your veggies?” She nods at her sister’s boyfriend while munching contently on a fry. Spencer excused himself to the bathroom a few minutes prior.
“So uhm. We can’t do that. We can’t get married. But I’m so proud of you for eating your greens.” He smiles awkwardly, which turns quickly into a frown as tears begin to run down (Y/N)’s cheeks. Mireya sends him a death glare while pulling her onto her lap. “Shhh, I know. I know it’s not what you wanted. It hurts. But you have to accept it, Little One”, she tries to console her, to no avail.
Luckily their father finally steps back next to them and takes her over. It takes the whole night and nearly the next morning to calm her down.
“You know what?” Spencer asks her, as he drops her off at kindergarten. “I try to get off earlier today and then we look for matching outfits for Halloween. Just you and I, your sister and her boyfriend can do the old couple thing and we do our own theme. We can be Peter Pan and Tinkerbell, Ariel and Poseidon or” “Elsa and Olaf!” (Y/N) scream excitedly.
“Or Elsa and Olaf”, he murmurs defeatedly, even though the father is happy to do anything to see that smile on his daughter’s face again.

become a family – a.beauvillier
Tumblr media
You hadn’t meant to keep Gia a secret from your childhood friend, really honestly, you two had just lost touch, and by the time you found out you were pregnant and her dad left, it felt wrong to reach out simply to tell him that. So you didn’t.
But when you found out you were relocating to New York, Long Island specifically. You knew you had no choice but to reach out, it only made sense, it felt wrong not too. “Mommy.” Gia whined, “play!” She demanded with a tilt of her chubby face, motioning to the Minnie Mouse tea set she had sprawled across your tiny unpacked apartment floor. “Just a second baby.” You assured her with a soft laugh, you read the message you had typed out, you let out a deep breath and pushed send before moving to join your daughter on the floor, forcing the thought of checking your phone to the back of your mind.
“Hey, Tito. I know we haven’t spoken in forever, but I’m moving to Long Island, with my daughter, I thought it’d be nice to meet up sometime. Hope all is well!”
When he got the notification from Instagram, both of you long having lost each other’s phone numbers, his heart stopped briefly, he scrambled to unlock his phone, Mat eyeing him suspiciously. Tito read the message at least five times before what you said had processed with him, he clicked on your profile, he hadn’t really paid much attention to your posts, and they were so far and few between, he scrolled to the first one that was baby related.
A picture of your sonogram in front of your crossed legs, your ready to pop stomach on display, “just me and you against the world baby girl.”
Tito’s heart clenched in his chest, guilt, curiosity and sadness running through him, he scrolled to the next, a simple black and white photo of Gia when she was born, the caption only being her date of birth. The next wasn’t for another six months or so, the two of you in a small apartment back home. “Gia and mommy’s first place!”
He went through them all quickly, up to the most recent, from just before you sent the message, you with Gia on your hip, the two and a half year old hanging on tightly to you with a giggle as you grinned at the camera, your keys hanging off your finger. “New beginnings…”
“Tito? Dude, you look like you’ve seen a ghost.” Mat finally spoke up, Tito nodded, “you remember, Y/N? Right?” He questioned his friend, Mat nodded, curiously. “She’s here.” Tito whispered, Mat raised an eyebrow. “What do you mean she's here?” “She moved to Long Island.”
***
You truthfully had forgotten to check your phone that night, you ended up putting Gia to bed late and you simply passed out right after. So when you woke, the memories came flooding back, you rushed to grab your phone, seeing a response on your Instagram.
“Long Island? A kid??? We definitely need to meet up, I’m dying to know everything. Missed you.”
Your heart returned to normal at his response, thankful that he was accepting and not shutting you out.
“Missed you too, you became a big shot! I’m taking Gia to a park down the street from my apartment today, I’ll send you the address if you want to come.”
That’s how you ended up here, pushing your daughter in the swing as she shrieked excitedly. Your laughter echoed through the remotely empty park, your attention solely on her as she had a nervous look on her face as the swing went a little higher, you slowed her down and she resumed her happy shouts. “Y/N.” Tito called, your head snapping in his direction, his hands shoved into his jacket pockets as he looked over at you with a grin, his eyes flickering between you and Gia. “Hi.” You grinned right back at him as he walked over to you, he wrapped his arms around you in a hug as he reached you, Gia slowly coming to a stop in the child swing. “Oh god, it’s been too long.” You spoke, voice muffled by his jacket. “Definitely.” He agreed easily, pulling away as Gia began to fuss. You pulled her out of the swing and she clung to you, eyeing him suspiciously, she was always particularly wary about men. “Hello.” He spoke softly to her, giving her a soft wave. She smiled weakly, hiding her face in your neck. “Say hi, Gia.” You whispered to her, she lifted her head, looking over at Tito who was still smiling fondly at her, “hi, Gia.” She spoke, sending you both into a fit of laughter. “We’re working on it.” You assured him through your giggles, your daughter dramatically hiding again. “That’s ok.” Tito assured you, noticing all the ways Gia resembled you.
“Lunch?” She whispered to you, wiggling to get down, “yes, let’s go.” You led her over to the covered portion of the park, where you had left your things, Tito followed behind you, holding in a chuckle at the way Gia happily ran towards the table, swinging her arms for exaggeration. You sat her up on the bench, sitting beside her and Tito sat across from the two of you, watching you silently, “how have you been?” You started speaking, feeling your skin warm up under his gaze. “Good, yeah, I’ve been good.” He answered, “what about you? Been busy I see.” He joked, Gia glanced up at him as she took a bite of her peanut butter and jelly sandwich. “Yeah, she keeps me on my toes, in the best possible way.” You smiled at your daughter, she happily minded her own business, clueless to half the stuff you two spoke about. You told him about her dad, only using his name so she wouldn’t be confused, already learning that she didn’t have the two parents that some of her other friends have.
Jesse, you never expected him to work out long term, but you never expected to get pregnant either. Long story short, you told him and you gave him the option to not be involved, but he had to be committed to being a co parent or nothing at all. He chose the latter, and never looked back.
“That’s-“ “it’s good, I think, he wouldn’t have been able to stay committed.” You cut Tito off, not needing the apology speech again. He nodded, moving past the subject, a large grin started etching across his face as Gia tugged on your sleeve. You leaned down and smiled as she whispered to the best of her ability, “share?” She asked you, Tito cocked his head to the side as you nodded and leaned away. Gia grabbed one of her fruit gummies and held it out to Tito. “Share.” She mumbled cutely, smiling shyly with her head tilted down a little, just like you do. Tito gasped dramatically, placing a hand over his heart, “thank you!” He took it from her and popped it in his mouth, earning a genuine laugh from her that made his heart sore. Already so in love with your daughter and wanting nothing but the best for both of you. She tried to offer him more but he sweetly told her no, and that she should eat her lunch, she listened and continued snacking away. “Has she been to a game?” Tito asked you with a wicked grin, “no, actually, I haven’t been to a game since I had her.” You admitted, cringing as he gaped at you, muttering in French under his breath.
“I’m getting you tickets.” He spoke, already pulling his phone out, “what? No, Tito.” You rushed feeling guilty,
“Yes.” He stuck his tongue out at you, typing away on his phone before asking for your phone number to send you the info. You gave it to him, knowing he would just be stubborn anyways. “Thank you. Really. She’ll have a blast, I’m sure.” You spoke as you opened your phone to look at what he sent you, “Anthony!” You scolded, Gia jumping in her spot next to you, “Y/N!” He mimicked, giggling at your daughter who glared at him. “That’s too much, those seats are–“ “Those seats are necessary.” He cut you off, “it’s final. No take backs.” He teased, much like he did when the two of you were younger. You sighed, shaking your head with a small smile, “fine, you better win, for her.” You told him, motioning to Gia who was getting sleepier by the second. “I should take her home.” You added as she yawned, her head resting against her arms on the table. He smiled at her eyes fluttering shut, “yeah, but I’ll see you at the game, right?” He raised an eyebrow as he stood up, you nodded, moving to give him a hug goodbye.
You watched with a bursting heart as he pushed some of Gia’s hair back, leaving a feathery light kiss to her full cheek, “bye, sweetheart.” He whispered, she whined, nestling further into herself. You wiped at your eyes once he was no longer facing you, the sight before you simply pulling on your heart strings.
***
You adjusted the jerseys on yours and Gia’s bodies, the both of you wearing jeans with them. She smiled at the excitement on your face, “do you remember mommy’s friend we met yesterday, Tito?” You questioned her as you walked hand in hand to the elevator, she looked up at you curiously, “we’re going to see him do his job, you get to watch them play hockey.” You explained to her, she simply smiled, all oblivious to what you meant, but she got excited because you were excited. “Teo.” She spoke, an attempt at his name, not very good but adorable nonetheless. You whipped your phone out, squatting down in the elevator, you started recording her, “who are we going to see?” You asked her, she shook her head happily, her pigtails bouncing around, “teo!” She said proudly, clapping for herself. “Tito, good job.” You praised her before ending the clip, you sent it to him with a thumbs up before continuing to acknowledge Gia’s babbling.
He responded quicker than you thought he would, “I guess I’ve grown on her.” He sent a heart afterwards, presumably putting his phone away for the night to prepare for the game.
Gia whined as she clung to you, terrified of all the people surrounding the both of you, “it’s alright honey.” You shushed her as you slowly inched forward in the line, she nodded against you, arms wrapped around your neck and legs trying to wrap around your waist. You thanked the person as they scanned your tickets, letting you two begin the journey to your overpriced glass side seats. You were relieved to see they had already begun warm ups so she would be distracted by them, once she adjusted to her surroundings you knew she’d be fine. “Look baby, see how fast they go.” You held her up, pointing out to the ice, she instantly became mesmerized by them whizzing by. You sighed in relief as you tried to spot the oh so familiar number 18. The two of you wearing jerseys with his name, something you knew he would get a charge out of, as long as you could remember, you would wear his number to his games. And now would be no different.
You spotted him at the same time he spotted you, a bright smile coming over his face as he flicked a puck up and caught it in his hand, skating over to you. He waved at you and Gia and she grinned, recognizing him and suddenly no longer being shy as she tapped on the glass with an amused smile. “Hi!” She shrieked, earning a laugh from him. He motioned the puck in his hand and you nodded, easily catching it as he tossed it over, handing it to Gia who stared at it in amazement, “good luck.” You mouthed, fist bumping the glass like you did as a teenager, he grinned and did the same before skating off, some of his friends nudging him and asking questions as you settled into your seat for the night.
Gia enjoyed the game and the loud sounds more than you thought she would, she adjusted quickly to the slamming of the boards, if anything, you think that may have been her favorite part.
Once the game was over, you were directed by Tito to tell one of the arena employees your name and they’d bring you down to see him. Much to your surprise, it worked, Gia was antsy to be let down to run around, and thankfully the person leading you through the huge building was a sweet young girl, probably your age, who was just absolutely loving Gia. “Just go to the right, and stop at the double doors.” She explained to you as the elevator came to a stop, “thank you.” You smiled, ushering Gia onto the concrete floor, her laughter echoing as she had some room to run around and burn up some of her energy. You were speed walking behind her just to keep up with her little legs, “baby, hang on!” You called, sighing as you rushed to grab her, just in time too as the doors opened and a couple of guys walked out, thankfully Tito was one of them. “Hey.” You breathed out, Gia looked over, “teo!” She ran over to him, putting her arms up, he looked at you for approval, “oh, of course.” You gave him a look, as if you wouldn’t trust him with your daughter. He easily lifted her up, smile widening when she wrapped her little arms around him. A stark difference to her greeting yesterday. “You must be, Y/N.” One of them spoke to you as Gia began babbling to Tito who nodded along enthusiastically. “I am.” You responded, shaking his hand, “Mat.” He grinned, you nodded knowingly, “I know, I follow the sport.” You teased him, earning a snicker from Tito as he walked over to you. “Hey.” He mumbled, giving you a one armed hug as Gia refused to leave his hold. You lightly tickled your daughter as she hid in his neck from all the other guys. “You played good.” You assured him, he smiled softly in return before introducing you to some of his teammates, laughing when you became all shy, staying close to him and your daughter. You answered all the questions they threw at you, not noticing Gia was drifting off on Tito’s shoulder until she was already out like a light.
***
It’s been about 6 weeks since that game, the season kicking into full gear, Tito traveling very often but still coming over to see you guys when he wasn’t on the road, and today, he was coming over for the first time in two weeks, and Gia had no idea. The relationship between them was more than you could ever ask for, even yours and Tito’s relationship had changed, it wasn’t even spoken, it just happened, one night as he was leaving after you put Gia down. You leaned up to kiss his cheek but he turned, not knowing what you were doing. You both jumped back, muttering apologies, but you kept your hands on his chest, slowly you inched back together, your lips coming together softly.
Then it became more often, sneaking in kisses here or there, I miss you texts, phone calls. And now, now you were bouncing with excitement just to see him.
Tito knocked on the door with a wide smile, excited to see his two favorite girls, that thought running through his head the whole trip back, in his mind, he wanted to call you his, but he knew he hadn't even spoken to you about what this was.
You rushed over to open the door, Gia only just waking from her nap, “hi.” You whispered immediately being engulfed in his arms, yours going to wrap around his neck. “I missed you.” He admitted into your hair, kissing the side of your head, “I missed you too.” You assured him, leaning away to meet his eyes, something went unspoken between you two as he pulled you in for a kiss. This one was different though, more powerful than the rest had been. You sighed against him, melting into his hold as you kissed him back slowly, not wanting to rush the moment. “Tito.” You went to speak after you pulled back to breathe, “yeah, I know.” He murmured, pecking your lips again before finally stepping all the way inside. “Is she sleeping?” He frowned, wanting to see her, “she’s starting to wake up, I heard her fussing.” You explained, neither of you making any effort to untangle yourselves. “Would you want to go out with me sometime? Like a date.” Tito asked, you nodded instantly, “can’t we just count all the times you’ve stayed over here late as dates?” You teased, instantly making him relax. “Well, then I think it’s fine if I do this, as much as I want.” He joked, kissing you again, squeezing your hips.
“I think so too.” You agreed, pulling away once you heard Gia climbing out of her bed. “Gia, I have a surprise!” You called, hearing her giggle and run down the hall, she saw you and then she saw Tito standing beside you. What neither of you expected was the word about to come out of her mouth, “daddy!” You nearly passed out right there, literally swaying and having to grip Tito for stability. She hugged his legs, looking up at him with a grin. “Tito.” He corrected her gently, lifting her up once you regained your composure. “Hi, sweet girl.” He tickled her sides as he hugged her tightly, her laughter filling the room, you smiled at the sight, hoping that one day this would become a reality.
****
“Rough day?” You questioned Gia as she dramatically huffed and sat at the kitchen counter beside her sister. “Yes.” Gia spoke with a sigh, you held back your laughter, knowing that 1st grade could just be oh so difficult, Tito walked in a moment after with her backpack and lunch box, smiling at you as you held the two month old to your chest. He walked over to the girls, laughing at the bored expression on Gia’s face as she watched her two year old sister munch away on her fruit, “hi princess.” Tito greeted Sadie with a kiss to the head, before making his way over to you, kissing your lips and whispering a hello before taking the baby from you. He smiled as Cade gripped his finger tightly, looking up at his dad with the bright blue eyes that they shared. “Daddy, can we go for ice cream tonight?” Gia pouted at him, using the look she got from you that made him cave immediately. He glanced at you, who nodded, “only because it’s friday.” He pointed an accusing finger at her, watching as her annoyed expression broke into a smile. “Thank you!” She sang happily bounding to her room upstairs. You laughed at the sigh he let out, “Aw, did you have a rough day too, honey?” You teased, resting your head on his chest as he wrapped his free arm around you, Sadie coughing for attention and succeeding as you both looked over to make sure she wasn’t choking. She only smiled, Tito’s smile as she continued to eat her blueberries slowly, you glared lightly at her as she giggled. “I did have a rough day, thanks for asking.” He mused.
“My wife didn’t text me once all day.” He pouted at you, “I’m so sorry, I assumed you would be busy working and all.” You laughed at him, cupping his stubbled jaw, “how ever did you survive?” You asked with fake concern. “I’m not really sure. But I did, and I lived long enough to pick her up from school, I’ve earned my ice cream.” He quipped.

I’m Ready - Emily Sonnett x Reader
Prompt: Where R is a single foster parent and it got me thinking.
R has not had a placement for awhile (but still has her foster license) and Sonnett planed the date to ask R to move in with her but when she ask R, R was shocked and telling Sonnett that she doesn’t think it will be a good idea because of her being a foster parent and could get a call at any given time and Sonnett telling R that she does not care and would like to help her out. Then R gets the call for a placement and has to leave the date but Sonnett get up with her and basically like I am going with you and you can’t stop me. When they get to the hospital R sees how gentle and soft Sonnett is with the baby and tells her that yes they will move in her.
Where the R is a single foster parent ( been for a while before they started to date) and while Sonnett and R is on a date and R gets a call about a foster placement (a 3 month old baby) and feels bad for leaving the date but Sonnett insist on coming her and helping her out. But when she founds out that it’s a baby sonnett gets so nervous and scared.
Note, couple prompt rolled into one here.
“She didn’t say anything when you asked?” Kelley asked from the couch, watching Sonnett pace back and forth through the living room, stopping occasionally to randomly adjust everything that was already perfectly in place.
“I didn’t even get a chance!” the blonde turned around quickly, throwing her hands up.
“What do you mean?” the defender tilted her head to the side, Emily flopping her hands back to her sides and beginning to move throughout the room, “slow down and explain what happened.”
Emily sighed, moving to perch on the edge of arm of the couch. Biting the edge of her thumb, she fidgeted with the hem of her shirt, “I don’t know,” she shrugged defeated, “we had plans last night, she seemed like she was really looking forward to it. I picked her up, she looked gorgeous,” a small smile on her face, dropping as she continued, “the night was great, dinner was romantic, we were every gross romantic cliché. Then on our walk, I got nervous, and I couldn’t get the words out.”
Kelley moved to the blonde, rubbing a soothing hand up and down her back, encouraging her to continue, tugging the thumb away from her teeth, squeezing her hand.
“And she was so sweet about it, said I could talk to her about anything, she had pulled me to the side of the path, held both my hands and just gave me the softest smile,” she paused, smiling softly while she thought about the night before, “then I don’t know what happened. I finally got the nerve to start asking and she got all weird and said she needed to go and bolted.”
Having sat long enough, the defender got up and began pacing the room again. Kelley furrowed her brow, confused at how quickly Y/N had changed on the date the night before. Y/N was always so patient with the blonde, giving her the opportunity to explain herself, reassuring her when she was anxious about how she worded things.
“Have you guys talked since?”
Sonnett shook her head sadly, “I tried to call her last night, but she didn’t answer and I sent a couple texts, nothing there either.”
Kelley got up and pulled the blonde into a hug, “I’m sorry Em.”
Emily struggled in the hold for a second before collapsing into it and allowing the hug, “maybe this means she isn’t interested in long term,” she mumbled into the brunette’s neck.
“You guys have been together for two years, she requested a trade to Washington just to be with you,” Kelley squeezed her, “do you really think she isn’t serious about this?”
She shrugged meekly in the hug.
“See if she says anything at practice this afternoon. Don’t overthink yourself too far before you know what to overthink.”
Sonnett just shrugged again, tugging herself away, fumbling around the apartment, picking up her equipment, “let’s get to training then.”
Practice was about to start, but Y/N had yet to show up.
“Sonnett, where’s Y/L/N?” Burke called, looking around the field.
“I’m not her keeper,” the blonde grunted out, before her eyes went wide, “sorry coach, I’m not sure where she is today.”
“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry!” Y/N called as she rushed out to the field, one cleat on, hoping on one foot while she struggled to pull the other on while still moving, shin guards tucked under arms, “It will never happen again, I’m so sorry Coach.”
Burke gave her a hard look, motioning for everyone to focus up and began his pre-practice talk. Y/N crashed down hard, having tripped over her untied cleat, “fuck,” she tugged the other cleat on.
Sonnett watched on as Y/N spoke with Burke after the meeting off to the side. Burke nodded along, smiling as Y/N spoke, giving her a pat on the back as the soccer player jogged away.
The rest of practice Y/N seemed distracted, constantly glancing over to the trainers on the sideline.
“You good?” Emily stood next to her at a water break, concerned for how different her girlfriend seemed during practice.
She never got a response as one of the trainers called Y/N’s name, motioning to the cell phone in her hand, and she took off. The blonde watched as Y/N answered the phone, walking away and beginning to pace the sideline, plugging a finger in her ear when the whistle blew.
“What’s that all about?” Kelley asked the blonde.
“I don’t know,” Sonnett tracked her girlfriend, noting how frustrated she was getting on the call.
Practice resumed, Y/N joining again at some point, more distracted than before.
“We’ve got to talk,” Kelley shoved the soccer player down the hall after practice, pushing her away from the change room.
“Kel, I don’t have time for this,” Y/N pulled her arm out of Kelley’s grasp, working to make her way back towards the change room.
“No, you have time,” Kelley tightened her hold, keeping Y/N in place.
Y/N released a sigh, tilting her chin to the brunette, waiting for her to continue.
“Do you love Emily, or are you just with her for the fun of it?” she began harshly.
“Fuck you Kelley,” Y/N ripped her arm out, glaring at her, “do you actually have something to say, or would you like to just belittle my relationship?”
“She was going to ask you to move in with her,” Kelley softened.
The glare immediately left Y/N’s face, “oh.”
“Yeah, oh,” now the brunette glared at her, not saying anything and just watching Y/N, waiting for her to say something else, “fix this,” Kelley pointed firmly at her before walking away.
Y/N slowly walked back to the change room, reading the new email on her phone as she went, plopping into her locker and running a hand over her face.
Emily came and sat next to her, “I saw Kelley kidnapped you,” she tried to joke.
Y/N sighed, rolling her head to look at the blonde, giving her a sad smile, “something like that. I’m sorry about last night Emily.”
“It’s alright Y/N, can you tell me what happened?”
Y/N looked away, letting out a slow controlled breath, “I need to tell you something,” she started nervously.
“Can we not do this here?” Emily whispered, nervously looking around the change room, seeing the few lingering players.
“Shit, not that Em,” Y/N quickly shook her head, “but, uhh, you’re definitely right, not here.”
The pair both nervously gathered their things, awkwardly walking next to each other out of the stadium. The awkwardness continued as they walked into Emily’s apartment, neither of them knowing how to start or what to say.
“We can’t live together,” Y/N finally cut the awkward silence.
Emily clenched her jaw and nodded her head dejectedly.
“God Emily, I’m crazy about you, for you. But I think we are better living apart, at least for a little bit,” Y/N didn’t know how to explain how much she loved Emily but why it wouldn’t be a good idea for them to live together, how unfair it be to the blonde if they lived together, “I love you.”
Now Emily scoffed at hearing that, rolling her eyes and looking to the ceiling, “what, you love me but you’re just not in love with me? It’s not you it’s me? What cliché line are you going to drop before you break up with me?”
“No, I don’t want to break up with you,” Y/N recoiled, shaking her head, not expecting the aggressiveness in the blonde’s tone.
“Then, what the fuck is going on? I was ready to ask you to move in yesterday and now you’re being all weird and saying it’s a bad idea, and saying you don’t want to break up, but very much acting how someone would before they break up.”
Emily let all her frustration out, hands firmly on her hips as she started hard at her girlfriend.
Y/N nodded along while the blonde ranted.
“There was a screw up, or not really a screw up, but my name was passed along without me knowing,” Y/N sighed, sitting hesitantly on the edge of the couch cushion, “I was a foster parent back in in Seattle, and I guess they need them here, and the social worker from there moved here and uhh added me to the list.”
“So?” the blondes anger not going anywhere, not understanding why this meant they couldn’t live together.
“They want to give me a kid, uhh a baby actually,” Y/N looked down, rubbing her hand on the back if her neck.
Emily dropped her hands, eyes shooting wide, not expecting that answer.
“I said maybe, only if they can’t find anyone else and only short term. So, I might not be getting one, but uhh, I didn’t want you to feel trapped if I did get one.”
Sonnett opened and closed her mouth, she didn’t know what to say. She didn’t know if she was ready for a baby, but she knew she was ready for Y/N, so she was probably ready to try.
Y/N’s phone began to ring on the coffee table, she glanced to the phone and to Emily, before picking up the phone when she saw the expression on the blondes face. Not able to interpret it, she picked up the phone and began to walk into the hall.
Emily nervously moved around the apartment while she waited for Y/N to come back inside. Yesterday she was going to ask Y/N to move in with her, and now she’s considering if she is ready to help take care of a kid with her. They had been together for a while now, Y/N uprooted her whole life to be near Emily, she wasn’t forcing her to help either, hadn’t asked her at all.
Did that mean Y/N didn’t think Emily was serious about them? That she didn’t think Emily could handle a baby? That she didn’t see a future with them? A future baby of their own?
She was brought out of her thoughts when Y/N slowly walked back inside, gently closing the door behind her. Y/N tapped the edge of her phone against her palm, refusing to look up.
“I have to go,” she started softly, “I’m sorry I made you think I wanted to break up, I love you, Emily.” She took a couple steps forward, kissing Emily on the cheek, nodding to herself and making her way back to the door.
“Wait!” Emily rushed forward, stopping Y/N before she could leave, “I want to come.”
“Emily,” Y/N smiled sadly at the blonde, “I’m on my way to pick up a baby right now.”
“I know, I want to come.”
Y/N watched her, determining if she was serious. Nodding, she smiled and reached out to hold the blondes hand and lead her out.
Sonnett listened as Y/N spoke to the social worker, trying to take in all the new information. That the baby had been delivered the night before, that the mom wasn’t prepared for a baby and dad wasn’t in the picture at all, no other family available to take care of the baby.
She could feel her palms sweat the more they spoke, this baby was already in a position where no one wanted it, she wasn’t prepared to be another disappointment in the small humans short life.
“You don’t have to stay Em,” Y/N leaned over and whispered after the social worker walked away, “you didn’t sign up for this, I know it’s a lot.”
“No, I’m here,” she rubbed her palms on her pants, “I’m ready,” she straightened up, giving Y/N a determined smile, “did you do this lots in Seattle?”
“This will be my second baby, but I had a few toddlers, couple children. This will be my eighth all together though,” Y/N kept her eyes down the hallway, waiting for the social worker to come back with the baby.
“How did you do it with travelling for both teams?”
“I agreed for short term ones only, and I had a few really good friends that were able to watch them during practice or the odd away game. Luckily, we always get all our schedules far enough in advance I can plan pretty far ahead,” Y/N explained, “this one is a little unexpected though, so I’ll figure it out.”
“We’ll figure it out,” Emily corrected.
“What?” Y/N looked next to her, pausing the mental planning she was doing, organizing everything she would need to get done.
“We’ll figure it out, together,” she clarified again, “I’m in this with you Y/N.”
“Really Emily, you don’t need to help, but I guess, just uhh, now you know.”
Sonnett didn’t say anything as the social worker rounder the corner with a small baby wrapped in a blanket. Y/N stepping away to meet her halfway, gently taking the baby into her arms, rocking it back and forth.
Emily couldn’t help the smile on her face, the gentle smile on Y/N’s face as she stared down at the baby pulling one of her own. She walked up behind Y/N, sliding an arm around her waist, Y/N turned and smiled at her.
“Want to hold her?” Y/N turned slightly, offering her the baby.
Sonnett nodded nervously, wiping her hands before taking the baby into her arms. Y/N mimicked Emily and wrapped an arm around her waist.
“I’m really glad you agreed to this Y/N,” the social worker cut in, interrupting their little bubble.
Y/N smiled in return, giving her a nod, looking back to Emily holding the baby.
“Do you want me to take a picture? You guys are adorable,” the social worker reached a handout for Y/N’s phone. Taking the picture, she handed the phone back, “everything is in order, I’ll check in in a couple days. You look really happy Y/N,” she patted Y/N on the arm as she walked away.
“Ready to go home?” Y/N asked, taking the baby back from Emily, sliding a hand down to hold the blondes and guide her out of the hospital.
“I’m ready,” Emily kissed Y/N on the cheek before placing a delicate one on the babies forehead.

Osamu's made it just in time, right as the bell tolls to signal the end of his daughter's second day in her new school year. Standing back as a swarm of kids rush out of the brick building and into the arms of their waiting parents, he takes a moment to breathe and relax. Juggling his burgeoning restaurant with being a single parent isn't an easy job, but he wouldn't trade it for anything.
He stands taller than many of the other adults around him and it's evident his little girl has no problem seeking him out as a black, red, and grey blur races towards him, a thrilled, "Papa!" reaching his ears and splitting his mouth into a wide, happy grin.
His arms are already open in a silent but enthusiastic response as he crouches down and then the bite-sized impact of his daughter is rocking him back on his heels, his reaction overly exaggerated as he pretends to almost fall over from the small force of nature that's all Miya Izumi.
Standing back up, Samu catches sight of another little girl who was trailing behind, wide eyes studying him before shifting to Zumi, his daughter turning back around to wave at her, proclaiming the girl as her 'bestest friend in the whole wide world'. The girl returns Zumi's enthusiastic wave with a quick raise of her small hand before her attention is caught by a pretty young woman, her own wide smile replacing her previously hesitant expression as she's warmly enveloped into welcoming arms with kisses peppered on her cheeks and forehead.
Her delighted giggles reach Osamu and his daughter as they turn around, hand in hand, to walk back to his car, small interaction soon forgotten as his little munchkin lists off the snacks she's looking forward to having on their return to his shop. She won't be able to finish half that list, he bets to himself with a quiet chuckle at his daughter's inherited exuberance for food as he securely buckles her into car.
It's not until they reach his second pride and joy, Onigiri Miya, that he finds the first little surprise tucked away in Izumi's not so empty lunchbox. When he inquires about the remarkably delicious looking set of biscuits he certainly didn't pack for her that morning, his daughter's response is that it's a thank you gift from her bestest friend, Reina, for the lunch she'd shared with the girl on her first day.
Well, a six year old certainly didn't bake these from the looks of it. It's only confirmed by his first taste, the texture and flavour beyond even most consistent home bakers, let alone a young child. Right? But a more pressing thought flags his attention, first.
"Did your friend not have her own lunch?"
"She did! We split because hers wasn't so good, even though her mama put so much love into it. But the treats were so much better so we decided to go halfsies and have best of both!" His daughter giggles with the oblivious sweet innocence of a child.
"And what about today?"
"Mhm. Same. But I liked the chocolate brownies yesterday much much better!"
Samu chuckles at her excitement and can't help but tease his precocious daughter, "Oh, and was it better than papa's food?"
Zumi's eyes widen as she contemplates the question with all the adorable seriousness she can muster, but loyalty must break free and run because her reply is, "Almost! So close, but I love papa's cooking more than anything in the whole wide world."
It seems the whole wide world is the current standard of measurement for first graders, but he appreciates the heartfelt sentiment behind her loving words.
After another moment of consideration, Osamu settles on the thought chewing at him and decides that tomorrow his daughter won't be giving up a portion of his food which she loves so much. No, she'll have double the amount to do with whatever she may please.
So briefly, that he doesn't even ponder on the sudden image, he's reminded of the warm reunion he witnessed between the little girl and the woman who he'd assumed was her nanny, but concludes is probably the girl's young mother. Based on the number of treats Zumi brought back, Samu's certain the woman had to have thoughtfully made extras of these baked goods for her daughter to have more than enough to share with friends and then some.
Well, it's definitely no skin off his back to make his daughter even the slightest bit happier by being able to help her share her savoury little delights with her new bestest friend.
Tumblr media
It's on the third day of your daughter's return from her new school year that you're able to confirm that something is indeed amiss. The previous two days, the small portions of her lunch left uneaten were questionable, given her voracious appetite, however, when she returns with the lunch you made for her today still sitting wholly untouched in her cute little lunchbox, you finally sit her down to ask about it.
Her response is far from what you expected, "My friend's papa made extra lunch so we could both have something yummy to eat!"
You press your lips together to hide your amusement as you teasingly inquire, "Oh? Is that so? And I guess that means mama's food isn't so yummy after all."
Her eyes widen in dismay and mouth opens in an immediate denial that you know would be a lie to soothe your feelings. Even at such a young age, your beautiful baby girl is truly a kind and compassionate soul, she would dutifully eat anything you prepared no matter how lacking the meal might be and never utter a word to tell you the obvious truth.
Before she can manage to find the right words to faithfully express how much she loves your cooking, you lean in to kiss her on the forehead and pull back with a laugh, gathering her in your arms for a warm hug. "Oh baby, I'm so sorry I can't make you the food you deserve. But please don't ever feel the need to say otherwise to spare my feeling, okay? You should always be honest about what you like or don't like."
Her little arms find their way around you as she snuggles in, voice soft and words like a wise, old soul when she denies, "But your food is made with so much love mama. Zumi says some people are just better at other things. We both think you make the best yummies."
"The best yummies, hm?" You think about the various baked goods you add in to balance out for the healthy but tasteless lunches you're able to prepare.
They are indeed good, but baking has always been something that comes more naturally to you than cooking. An interesting distinction not many people might accept, but for you the former has always been an effortless science whereas the latter is more of a difficult art.
"Well I'm really glad you like those, but we do need to figure out what to do so you're not picking at your friends' food or going hungry."
She pulls back to send a serious look your way, exclaiming, "But I'm not picking at it, I promise. Zumi said her papa made extra just for me!"
You take a moment to consider her words. She made a similar implication in her earlier statement, that her friend's dad had made extra for them both. What does that mean? Did his daughter ask him to because she was sharing her food with Reina? Or did he somehow grasp the situation and is simply being generous?
A warm burn threatens your cheeks as you consider the awkwardness of accepting such a gesture from a complete stranger. While you appreciate the kindness of Reina's friend and her dad, it still somehow feels like a terrible imposition, as if you've burdened them somehow with your lack of skills to keep your child happily fed.
It's not like you can't cook good, healthy food. You're just painfully aware how bland the food you make can be, unless you spend three times the amount of time as anyone else would need to in order to prepare similar meals. But... studying the smile that's on your daughter's face, you can't help the twinge in your heart that reminds you how much more her happiness is worth than your pride.
You won't assume this will be a daily occurrence and you'll continue to make your daughters lunches so she never goes without, however, it'll be no extra trouble for you to make double the batch of baked goods than usual. After all, you usually account for the fact that she'll be sharing with friends and classmates anyways.
However, you're now determined there will be enough delicious snacks for Reina to share not only around at school, but also some treats for her sweet friend Izumi to take home for her generous parents. Perhaps, you think, it might be prudent to include a short message, thanking the man for his thoughtful effort.
Tumblr media
Silent gratitude isn't very much to anyone ~ (So I hope you and your family will accept these.) Thank you for your kindness, Miya-san.
Osamu blinks, unaware of the small smile that curves his lips as he reads the delicate, handwritten note carefully wrapped around one of the cupcakes Izumi brought back home today. There are only three of the original twelve left, apparently, but the one he's just bitten into is as incredible as expected.
If he's correct in his assumption from the note addressed directly to him and included with today's delightful treats, then the little girl's mother has picked up on his small action and is returning the gesture to convey her thanks. The thought is confirmed by his daughter explaining that one of each of the three cupcakes is for their family.
Three for their family? Hm. Well, it's just him and Zumi, but he's sure his brother will be all over the remaining offering when he visits tonight. If there's any left for him that is. Probably won't be, it's really just that good and anyways, he doesn't need Atsumu nosing his way into this simple exchange as it is.
The following day, Friday morning, Samu pens back his own note, assuring the woman that no thanks is necessary. There's no reason for her to express her gratitude over what's really such a simple action for him.
That evening, he and Zumi enjoy some quality mochi delivered in a white, rectangular box with a pretty decently hand-drawn background scene at a spring festival on the cover. Two little girls, one that looks remarkably like his daughter and the other like her best friend, hold hands in the centre of the street dressed in traditional yukata and sharing a box of what he assumes is mochi.
As they much into the chewy treats, he watches and listens as his daughter points out the bright colours she and her friend chose to fill into what was apparently initially a blank canvas for them to colour on. Her delight at having a pink and grey yukata, even if only in a drawing, prompting him to make a mental note about looking into the clothing and any upcoming festivals.
Osamu makes a point of saving the box, childlike scribbles over the simple sketch leaving a warm feeling in his chest and a slightly wider smile gracing his mouth.
The response he receives the Monday evening (from his penned message the Friday before) is enough to prompt a full smirk that, this time, doesn't go unnoticed by him. The woman showed an interesting sense of humour and gracious acceptance with the first cupcake note. Then, a sweet and thoughtful disposition with the drawing included as part of the soft treat for the girls Friday.
But now, Samu sees a challenging firmness in her reply to his easy brush off of her thanks, delicate lines yet again adorning the small card carefully tucked into a pretty red ribbon that's tied around and decorating another white, rectangular box.
Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it ~ So please accept this gift without concern.
Sitting inside are four differently coloured, rounded treats that look familiar but he can't place off the top of his head. A quick search identifies the delicate confections as macarons, the colorful delights an absolute wonder as the airy crunch of the top and bottom shells simultaneously give way to a firm filling with the first bite, the sweet flavour almost dissolving on his tongue.
He and Zumi finish the box off in minutes, three of each flavour included to a total of four different flavours, so both he and his daughter each get seconds of their respective favourites.
The next morning, filled with anticipation at what new surprises you might include with the goods you send today, he's fully aware of the grin that stretches his face as he writes out a note of his own for you to receive later this evening.
Tumblr media
The macarons were inspiring. Izumi and I definitely won't turn away any gifts you'd like to send our way. I wonder... what other surprises do you have up your sleeve? I sent a little something your way to inspire you too. - M. Osamu
The neatly written note returned, once again, on the back of the small rectangular card you'd last sent, brings a warm smile to your face. The various onigiri that came along with it, apparently with specific instructions communicated from Izumi to Reina that today's additional quantity is set aside for you specifically, stretches the amused curl of your lips into a delighted grin.
You split each of the four different types of rice balls with your daughter, listening to her input on the delicious food as she points out her order of most to least favourite. Although there's not a single one you wouldn't eat on any given day if given the choice, the food is simply divine.
Your note the following day is a compliment to the chef, with a cheeky inquiry as to what deities one must pray to in order to make food like that. His response is a swift rebuttal asking what cruel gods bless some with the skills to cook but others with the skills to bake, ironically echoing your own thoughts from the previous week.
So goes the back and forth for weeks, notes getting cuter, sassier, and more personal as jokes, challenges, and encouragements alike are enclosed among the lunches of two excited little girls, their own bond strengthening with this unique camaraderie between their parents, until you feel the peculiar sense that you know the man on the other end, without ever even having actually met him.
Then, one day, three weeks into the first exchange, you receive a note that makes your heart beat in your throat at the unspoken challenge which raises the stakes of the now familiar routine. It's a simple response to your unassuming request for the onigiri recipes you initially received as the first returned delight, a meal you and Reina have been craving since the first taste.
I can do one better and teach you. xxx-xxx-xxxx. - Osamu
There's no reason to be shy or hesitant, is there? After all, it's a kind offer that will only serve you and Reina well with your future attempts at her lunches. You can't count on Miya Osamu's kindness forever.
Fingers still shaking, you dial the number enclosed within and find the call picked up before the first ring even finishes.
"I wasn't sure ya'd actually call."
Oh, wow, that's a voice to melt hearts alright. You're still smiling as you immediately reply in beat, with the easy familiarity of your shared repartee over the last few weeks, "With an offer like that, how could I not?"
He's quiet for a second and you start to lose your smile, suddenly worrying that perhaps you've acted too familiarly with a man that's all but a stranger and offended him. But his next words, slowly expelled in a lazy but thoughtful drawl, have your heart beating fast for an entirely different reason, "I had a feeling ya'd sound as pretty as ya write."
Now you're the one that's silent but it's entirely because you're at a loss for words, this quietly charming man having stolen them right from the tip of your tongue.
A low chuckle breaks what you realized was actually somehow still a remarkably comfortable silence and then his delicious voice reaches you again, "I hope I didn't scare ya voice away. It'd be a shame now that I've only just heard it."
Okay so he's maybe much more of a flirt than the subtle hints you'd noticed over the notes, but then again, they were delivered through your daughters as messengers so it would be reasonable he would have toned it down. Then again, what kind of man flirts with a woman he's never met previously? He doesn't even know what you look like. Have you captured his interest solely through your mutual correspondence?
You almost snort, catching your thoughts and feeling like you're the main character to some historical romance. Maybe during a world war era. Mutual correspondence. Right. What are you even thinking? He's got you flustered already.
"Funny. I would never have imagined you would sound so pretty from the way you write." You're tempted to arch an eyebrow with your audible smirk but then you remember that it's not like he can see it.
"Ya think my voice is pretty, do ya?" His tone is full with soft satisfaction, "Maybe ya can tell me if it's better in person."
"And here I thought the offer on the table was for learning a delicious recipe."
You swear you hear the smile in his response, "Sounds like yer in either way."
"Sounds like I am." You concede in mock resignation but you're painfully aware that your words and following sigh sound more like a promise.
Tumblr media
You and Reina find the charming storefront quite easily from Samu's instructions. It's finally the weekend, several days since your first call with him, and your handwritten notes have now upgraded into convenient, daily text messages.
He's definitely confident and teasing but not quite the overt flirt you briefly considered he might be from a few days ago. In fact, he's more calm and grounded, even if he can be a smooth talker, but you've quickly found that what came across as flirtatious was actually just him being honestly direct. Which is both exciting and flattering enough to make you nervous for this first real meeting today.
A soft chime sounds as you open the door to usher Reina through before following her in yourself. The first thing your eyes land on is a small girl running to your daughter like a heat seeking missile and the two collide in an adorably sweet hug, somehow understanding each other while seemingly talking simultaneously.
With a small smile on your face, you take a moment to survey your surroundings and find your bearings in this unfamiliar space. It's not an overly large area, focusing more on a cozy, comfortable atmosphere emphasized by the deliciously welcoming smell of various foods that make you feel right at home.
Your eyes run over the bar with stools lined against it before you do a double take, finally noticing the dark haired man that's leaning with his arms crossed against a door frame beyond it, watching as you examined his space.
He must be able to tell he's slightly startled you as an amused smile stretches his lips and he dips his head ever so slightly in greeting. "Welcome to Onigiri Miya."
"Thank you for inviting us, Miya-san." You bite your lip at your automatic formality, already certain what he's going to say next.
And he doesn't disappoint, eyebrow arching as he uncrosses his arms and, finally, steadily makes his way towards you, "I already told ya to call me Osamu. Or Samu."
Now you're smiling again because the situation is definitely out of the ordinary, the level of familiarity you feel with a man you're seeing for the first time can only be considered unusual. You take a moment to study him as he stops just before you, tall build with broad shoulders and a handsome face that looks like it belongs on a heartbreaker not a homemaker.
Your fingers itch to push back the locks of his hair peeking out from under his dark cap and falling over on side of his forehead, if only to have an excuse to run your hands through it. But that's definitely not appropriate no matter how comfortable you might already feel with this easygoing man.
"Right... Osamu, then. And of course, you can call me Y/n."
"Yer name and looks suit ya, just like yer voice and handwriting." He's got a small smile on his own face now and you're not sure if he's aware he basically just called you pretty. He doesn't really seem to do this on purpose, from what you've gathered.
You beam at him regardless and volley back, "Well, I can say the same for you too."
And for a brief second, that small smile splits into a quick grin that stutters the already erratic beat of your heart. Oh yes, this man is certifiably lethal in all the best ways.
"I'm happy to hear it. Now, let's sit ya down with the girls while I grab some things."
Izumi has already led Reina to a table by the window and Osamu gestures their way as he moves to lock the door behind where you came in and then moves off to the kitchen behind the bar again.
You notice with a little apprehension that the girls are sitting next to each other on one side of the booth still giddily talking together (although not over each other anymore) about friends and weekend plans and such, but you're not going to be the anxious oddball that separates them for seemingly no reason. Even if you're already sure of the overthinking you'll be doing at the thought of Samu sitting next to you in the booth.
He doesn't seem to think about it at all as he easily slides in, smoothly setting a plate and a tray with cups, glasses and a couple pitchers on the table just as you feel the left side of his body line up against your right. Okay, yeah, because this is totally normal for you. Not.
You hope neither he and especially not either of the kids can tell you're flustered, even as you feel the heat creep up your neck and flirt with your cheeks. Yup, normal day, normal day. Just a regular day with a new friend.
"Here ya go." You just hold yourself back from jumping when he hands you a cup from the tray and then leans over to pour what looks and smells like tea from one of the pitchers. If you're not going crazy, he's pressed even more against you for those long seconds, completely in your space even if it's not unwelcome.
He either knows exactly what he's doing or he's just one of those people that's never paid mind to polite social norms and rules of conduct that many prefer. While you're calming yourself down, he's already poured the girls juice from the second pitcher into their glasses and set out quarter plates in front of everyone.
You finally focus enough to take in the still steaming gyoza on the plate he'd placed down in the middle with confusion and ask, "I thought we would be making onigiri and eating it for lunch?"
"Of course, but I couldn't put ya to work on an empty stomach."
"Mhm." You give him a dubious look, you might have mentioned your early breakfast in one of your texts to him this morning, but you have a feeling that this is also an effort to make you and Reina feel comfortable in this space together instead of getting right into the cooking lessons planned for the day.
It's an incredibly thoughtful effort and that warm flush is threatening you again so you choose to tease him and deflect instead, "Somehow, I feel it's more about your empty stomach but okay, let's go with your version instead."
You lose the fight with the flush and flutters when he chuckles at your sassy retort, especially since you literally feel the vibrations melt from his body and into yours with the way he's still somewhat pressed into you. Does the man not have enough space in his own booth? Actually... you notice you can move closer to the window yourself since there's quite a bit of space on your side too but, then again, it would be a little obvious to shift now.
The girls pick up the fried dumplings by hand with happy exclamations as they bite right into theirs, you and Osamu following suit but not before placing another two on the plates in front of each of them and then splitting the remaining ones between you.
With a dip into the soy and vinegar sauce (chili excluded for the girls), you quickly bite into the first one and savour the sudden burst of flavour in your mouth. Oh wow, yes, this is exactly what your cooking is missing. This addictive, tasteful quality that makes you want multiple helpings of whatever's being served.
With a glance from the corner of your eye to the right, you meet Osamu's eyes studying your reaction and decide to ask the question on your mind, "You made these yourself right?"
"I did."
"Okay, they're hands down the best gyoza I've ever had." You compliment him genuinely before giving in to the urge to  tease him yet again because the flutters are back, if they ever even left, and you can't have him knowing just how much he affects you, "But who ever heard of serving gyoza in an onigiri shop?"
He must catch the light, teasing tone because he just smirks and throws right back, "Well if they're as good as ya say, maybe I should expand the menu."
"Oh no, don't do that!" You laugh with wide eyes, "Then Reina and I will never find space when we try to come back here during regular hours! Actually, I'm sure you're already always packed, hm?"
"Some days and times less than others, but there will always be space for the two of ya whenever ya want to visit again."
Oh yeah, it's a losing battle, the flutters are a full on tsunami of feelings now. Just push it away and chill. But then he adds, "And I can teach ya this recipe too. Anytime there's something ya like or want to try, just let me know. I'm sure we can make an amazing cook outta ya yet."
Your mouth drops open followed by your blurted question, "Why are you helping me so much? I'm sure this is a lot of time and effort for you too."
You hear the girls' conversation pause as they pick up on some subtle change in either your body language or demeanour, but Osamu's calm eyes just meet your wide ones, his lips sliding into a soft smile, as he simply answers, "Because I like ya."
You feel like you're back in grade school because you want to ask if he means that he 'like' likes you or just... likes you. But there's no way you're going to ask that question, not only because it feels a bit asinine but because that's not a conversation to start in front of both of your daughters.
You look over to the girls who are watching with beaming smiles, maybe happy their parents are good friends just like the two of them, and you return their wide grins with a reassuring one of your own before looking back into steady grey eyes. "Well, I really appreciate your help. Thank you, Osamu."
"I'd say no thanks needed, but I've been down that road before." Another quick, heart-stopping grin graces his face, this one almost as roguish as his tone is playful. He's definitely referring to your initial correspondence when you made a firm point against his initial brush off, as if his actions in making extra lunch for your daughter to enjoy wasn't incredibly thoughtful and certainly out of his way.
"Well you certainly catch on quick. Let's just hope I can say the same." Your playful smile turns into a grimace at the thought of how difficult it might be to actually improve your skills. Maybe it's just a question of talent? Maybe you're just never going to be able to reproduce food like him.
But he glances over to catch your frown just in time and reassures, "I know what I'm doing. Soon enough, you will too. Just say you'll keep supplying me and Zumi with yer baking every once in a while when ya don't need us anymore."
You know he's probably joking with the last part but you hadn't planned on stopping. You love to share the goodies you bake with the people in your and Reina's life, it makes the two of you pretty happy so you're sure Izumi and Osamu will be able continue enjoying your baked goods to their heart's content.
"Izumi will definitely get her share of sweets and snacks every day." You send a smile her way when she hears you and bounces excitedly in her seat but then you force yourself to drop it and face Osamu with a challenging look instead, "But you... well, I guess we'll have to wait and if you're as good as you say and maybe then you can get some too."
He places a closed hand to his chest as if he's been struck, the girls laughing at his overdramatic reaction, but his widening smile gives him away. You look at each other for a suspended moment, with shared amusement but also the teasing heat of something else reflected in his achromatic eyes, which makes you certain he picked up on the unintended double entendre in your words.
"Sounds like a promise." Then with an arched eyebrow at the empty plates and cups in front of everyone, Samu asks, "So shall we get started?"
You agree, helping him clean up the table and he takes the opportunity to help you and Reina familiarize yourselves with the kitchen. The rest of the afternoon is spent in an equally easy cadence as he does indeed walk you through the steps of making his recipes, flavours included.
He starts with the simplest option, yaki onigiri, which is just fried rice shaped in a triangle or oval, and then demonstrates how to make and add a few of your and Reina's favourite fillings in to change and enhance the flavour. The girls enjoy making their own mini rice balls alongside the two of you and the time flies until you're all back at the table and having the onigiri you've just made for lunch.
You can't deny there's an improvement already but your little rice balls are still nowhere near the level of skill and flavour of Osamu's, even though he and the girls all assure you that you've done a great job. You accept their compliments with a smile and the determination to keep at it on your own time until you improve even further because Reina deserves better than even this.
By the time you finish eating, the girls are unsurprisingly tired out and choose to stay at the table to watch a Disney movie with Izumi's iPad. You can't help but smile in amusement while watching Osamu grab the thing from behind the bar, tapping away on the clunky looking device which is perfect for Izumi with a thick, pink rubber cover protecting it from grade-schooler level damage.
After the movie's been set up for the two worn out little munchkins, you and Osamu head back into the kitchen for him to show you how to make the gyoza and the next hour slips away with more teasing jokes, increasingly heated looks, and slightly bolder touches.
You can close your eyes and now know the feel of Osamu's hands on yours, demonstrating how to properly fold and pleat the wrappers. You can still feel the heat of his chest brush your back from when he leaned around you to pick up an empty bowl to place in the sink, and you're pondering on what feels like a heated brand on your hip where he lightly curved one hand to shift you over.
You can't deny your attraction to the man, a slow fall that you should have seen coming from the excitement of receiving his words every day until you were eagerly expecting the notes, to this first meeting where he's everything you expected from reading between his lines and even more.
Since the girls are pretty much full, you and Osamu clean off the new batch of gyoza between the both of you - him more than you, which you tease him about again. All the while, you're panicking about this new realization of your feelings, given that you're seriously crushing on a man who might only mean to help as a newfound friend and maybe you're the one reading too much into his interactions.
It's not until you've helped him clean up, collected the girls, and are watching him lock up the shop that you get some semblance of an answer.
"Thank you again Osamu. This was not only very instructive but Reina and I had a great time today."
He's holding Izumi's small hand in his, similar to Reina's in yours, and his other hand stretches up to rub at the back of his head, his arm bent at the elbow. When he speaks, it's not a direct response to your gratitude but a question instead, sounding somewhat unsure himself for the first time today, "How about next time we have a date that's more fun than instructive?"
Your jaw almost drops in surprise but you quickly collect yourself because he's still looking a little worried, maybe because he thinks he's overstepping by calling this a date or maybe because he's not sure you'll want another one even if you do accept that.
Your smile is quick to light up your face and, with a light squeeze from Reina's hand to yours accompanied by her and Izumi's giggles, you happily reply, "Just let me know when and where, and it's a date."
He grins again, the third time today your heart stops at what you're sure is usually a rarer sight since bodies aren't always dropping to the ground around him (that you've heard of). "I think I might already have something in mind."
"Oh yeah?"
"Yeah, but let me look into it and get back to ya."
"Sounds like a promise."
With your final reply, a borrowed echo of his words to serve as a temporary goodbye, you and Reina split away from Izumi and Osamu. Heading for your car with once last look behind you, you're pleasantly unsurprised to find a flash of gunmetal grey also glancing back your way. Later that night, finished with your and Reina's joint skincare routine and having tucked her into bed, you find the expected message waiting for you.

Even ten years later, Elain was still the first one awake whenever they took family vacations. She had woken up with the sun, tried — and failed, miserably — to rouse Azriel from sleep, read her devotions, gotten in some yoga, and started on breakfast, all before she heard the first footstep from anywhere in the house. But soon enough, she heard slow, sleepy steps on the stairs, though they headed towards the back of the house rather than towards the kitchen.
Ruling out Lannan and his voracious appetite, along with Thorn, Bennett, and John, Elain waited, mixing up the pancake batter after she put a large pan of bacon into the oven.
A few minutes later, Scarlett appeared, dragging a still half-asleep Cassian by the hand. He was yawning and had a hair brush, comb and two hair ties in his hand.
“Good morning, you two,” she laughed, pouring Cassian a cup of coffee, which he looked like he desperately needed.
He mumbled something that sounded like a typical morning greeting, while Scarlett gave her a sleepy smile after climbing up onto one of the barstools. “G’morning, Aunt Lainey. Are we having pancakes for breakfast?”
“And bacon,” she replied, smiling at her youngest niece. Layla and Scarlett had sleepovers all the time, being the two youngest and close in age.
Scarlett grinned and turned to Cassian. “Remember, I want two braids, daddy, not just one.”
He nodded, still drinking his coffee, but handed her the brush to start detangling her long, waist-length hair.
“Nesta not up yet?” Elain chuckled, pouring some of the batter into the hot pan.
“I like it better when daddy braids my hair. Mommy makes it too fancy,” Scarlett replied, scrunching up her nose.
“That’s right,” Cassian mumbled, running his fingers through his youngest’s hair. “Dad keeps the braids messy.”
Elain laughed quietly as she continued to make breakfast. “Well, if you have the magic touch, I may make you braid Layla’s hair. She always complains when I do it, and the art of braiding isn’t exactly one of Azriel’s many talents.”
“We don’t need to hear about Azriel’s many talents,” Cassian warned.
Elain jabbed him in the ribs, which only made Cassian laugh as he began to braid his daughter's hair.
“Is Thorn going back to jail today?” Scarlett asked.
Cassian sighed, Scarlett wincing as he made sure his braid was tight. “No, Thorn’s not going back to jail, ever.”
The ten-year-old rolled her eyes. “Never say never, daddy.”
Elain chuckled as she set a giant mountain of pancakes on the island. “Give your brother a break. He’s a good boy.”
“No, he’s not,” Scarlett said, earning a snap from Cassian for her to stay still while he worked. “He swears too much and he smells yucky.”
“All teenage boys swear too much and smell yucky,” Cassian promised. “Just wait until you’re a teenager and you like those yucky boys.”
“I’m not ever going to like boys,” Scarlett promised. “I’m going to stay single and awesome forever.”
Elain shook her head, humored, as she watched her niece.
“That would make daddy very happy and I’m holding you to it,” he replied, tying the elastic around the end of the braid and starting on the second.
“Aunt Lainey, does Luna like smelly teenage boys?” Scarlett asked, looking up at her.
Luna was Scarlett’s idol. Everything the girl did, the younger one was right behind, whether it was a trend, style or even just following her around. And Luna handled it well, for a sixteen-year-old girl. She never complained, even when her own baby sister was in tow. Cassian was sure that because she was a carbon-copy of Elain, right down to the soft, caramel colored eyes.
Elain smirked as she set a plate down in front of Scarlett, a small stack of pancakes on top of it. She pulled the bacon out of the oven before replying. “Oh, she does. And Uncle Az is not happy about it.”
“Isn’t happy about what?” The man in question asked as he rounded the corner, heading straight for the coffee pot. He paused to kiss Elain’s cheek. “Morning, beautiful.”
“Luna Bug’s boyfriend,” Cassian smirked, watching as Azriel’s good mood deflated.
“We don’t talk about him,” Azriel said, quietly, as he filled his mug. “And definitely not this early in the morning.”
“He has a name,” Elain said, simply. “And you should call him by it.”
“The name I have for him shouldn’t be said around Scar,” Azriel said, pausing as he passed her to kiss the top of his niece’s head.
“He’s a good kid,” Elain said, rolling her eyes. “And I think Luna and Lachlan are good for each other.”
“Lachlan,” Scarlett repeated. “I like that name.”
Cassian’s grin only widened as he looked up at Azriel, who sat at the table, sipping from his mug.
“Just wait until she thinks she’s old enough to date,” Azriel said, gesturing to Scarlett.
“Oh no,” Cassian said, shaking his head. “She’s already informed me that she’s staying single and awesome forever, so.”
Azriel snorted as the twins came into the room, followed by John, whose hair was sticking up in every which direction.
“Mom says she’s taking a shower then she’ll be out to help make breakfast,” John said, yawning as he flicked Olive on the back of the ear. She flipped him off, which earned a gasp from Scarlett and a laugh from Cassian.
“No need, your Aunt has been up since the crack of dawn,” Azriel said, nodding toward the food. “Eat up.”
John didn’t need to be told twice. At fourteen, he was eating more than nearly everyone else - followed closely by his older boy cousins, who were, no doubt, still sound asleep.
Lily was still mortified by her new haircut, but thanks to a French braid of some sort, it could barely be noticed. She and Olive got a couple of pancakes each and talked to each other quietly.
Once Scarlett’s hair was finished, Cassian got his own breakfast, splashing a bit of whiskey into Azriel’s coffee and his own when he thought no one was looking, and sat down at the table. Mid bite, his chewing slowed down as he looked at Olive. “Liv, I think you still have makeup from yesterday on. You’ll probably want to get that off before we go on the boat.”
She rolled her dark, lined eyes. “It’s Olive, Uncle Cass, and it’s waterproof eyeliner. I’ll be fine.”
Lily, fresh faced, shook her head. “She’s too cool to be seen without her makeup anymore.”
Elain was chuckling at the stove as the two girls quietly bickered and Cassian was immediately grateful he only had one daughter.
“What’re we doing today?” John asked, his mouth full.
“Ask when your mouth isn’t full and I’ll tell you,” Cassian said, sitting next to his middle child.
“Yeah, John, have some manners.” Thorn entered the room, grumpy as hell, the first thing out of his mouth directed at his younger brother.
“Says the asshole that spent yesterday in jail,” John muttered, mouth still full.
“Watch your mouth,” Cassian snapped, his mouth also full.
Azriel just shook his head, watching the three of them. He looked at Scarlett. “How do you and your mom handle those three?”
Scarlett shrugged as she hopped off her stool. With a piece of bacon in each hand, she said, “We stick together. Girl power.”
Elain laughed, winking at her niece as she fled from the room.
Layla appeared a minute later, on Rhysand’s back, wide-eyed and chipper. Bennett was soon behind, and Cassian snorted.
“How is it that the kids from your side are the ones still asleep when Elain is one of the first ones up?” he asked, looking at Azriel.
“Luna’s probably awake and talking to-.”
“If you say his name again, I’ll lose my appetite, then my mood will be destroyed for the rest of the day,” Azriel said, holding up his hand and looking at his wife.
“Lachlan is so sweet though,” Lily said, sighing, and Olive nodded, which earned them a look from both Rhys and Azriel.
“Teenage boys aren’t sweet,” Rhys told his daughters. “They’re crafty, lying, disgusting creatures.”
Lily and Olive looked at Thorn and Bennett, both shoveling food into their mouths. Their brother responded. “What?”
“Aren’t you going to say he’s wrong?” Olive asked, looking between them.
“No, because then I’d be lying and proving him right,” Bennett replied.
“And we’re pretty disgusting,” Thorn added, shoving an entire piece of bacon into his mouth in two bites. Bennett nodded and was getting up for seconds when Rhys stopped him.
“Save some food for your mothers, please,” he said. “After mom and Aunt Nesta eat, you can get more.”
Layla quietly approached Cassian and tapped on his shoulder, asking if he could braid her hair, too. He gave Elain a knowing look, but picked Layla up and set her in Scarlett’s vacated seat. “Only cause you’re the cutest one here,” he whispered, so only she could hear. She giggled and nodded, sitting still as he went to work.
Nesta and Feyre made their way into the kitchen soon after, with Azriel going to retrieve Lannan, who was still sleeping like the dead. Luna was the last to arrive, claiming she’d slept in, too.
“Y’all wanna make some sandwiches for the boat while we get everything ready to go?”
Cassian asked Nesta and his sister-in-laws.
“You don’t want to come back for lunch?” Nesta asked. “You want to keep nine kids on a boat all day?”
He shrugged. “They'll be swimming and wakeboarding and tubing. They’ll be busy. Plus Thorn and Bennett are taking out the jet skis.”
Thorn raised his hand.
Bennett gave him a high-five.
John frowned. “Why can’t I take one of the jet skis?”
“Because we’re older,” Thorn said, simply.
“That’s not fair,” John argued. “What kind of argument is that?”
“Thorn and Bennett are taking the jet-skis,” Cassian said, his voice holding no room for argument. “You can take one tomorrow.”
“Ooooh, me too,” Luna said. “I call one for tomorrow.”
Thorn rolled his eyes, the only sign that he was annoyed.
The second that Nesta and Feyre sat down with their breakfasts, Thorn, Bennett, and John were on their feet, fighting for what was left.
“Animals,” Lily scoffed, taking Olive by the elbow and leading her down the hall to their room to get ready.
Thirty minutes and almost just as many sandwiches later, everyone was loading onto the boat, save for Thorn and Bennett who took off towards the jet-skis as soon as they were given the okay. After strict instructions to stay within sight of the parents, they were firing them up and taking off, Cassian starting the boat and following behind.
Elain fell into the seat at the front with her oldest daughter, wrapping an arm around her as the wind whipped back their hair. “What’s Lachlan doing this weekend?”
Her knees were tucked under her chin and she looked out over the passing water. “He and his parents went to Orynth. They’re touring a college there, but he doesn’t want to be that far from home.”
“Far from home or far from you?” Elain asked, nudging her slightly.
Luna blushed. “Both.”
Lachlan was a year older than Luna, so college was much more prevalent on his mind, as a senior. Or it should have been, had Luna not already had her five-year-plan made, starting with attending the University of Velaris and ending with a degree in business and communications, an internship under her belt and an entry-level position in a company she could grow at.
“Sounds serious,” Elain said.
“Too serious,” Azriel muttered, and both of them turned around, unaware that Azriel was just on the other side. Elain lifted a brow. “What? She’s sixteen.”
“Exactly,” Luna said, crossing her arms. “I’m not a child anymore, dad.”
Azriel didn’t respond. He simply walked to the cooler, opened a beer, and sat next to Rhysand.
“Ignore him,” Elain said, her arm around Luna. “He’ll come around.”
“Doubtful,” Luna muttered.
“You’re the oldest girl in the family,” Feyre said, as she took the seat on her other side. “You finding a boyfriend is uncharted territory.”
“It’s just not fair,” she said, simply. “Thorn and Ben have had tons of girlfriends, since middle school, and no one has ever batted an eye. I get my first serious boyfriend, and dad…” She shook her head as she glanced at Azriel, who was sipping his beer with a rigid jaw. “It’s like I’m a criminal or something.”
“And you weren’t even the one in jail,” John muttered, gazing out over the water.
Cassian hit him upside the back of the head.
“Dad will come around, Elain promised again.
“Maybe we should keep the boyfriend talk to a minimum,” Luna muttered. “At least for this weekend.”
“Why?” Feyre asked, propping her feet up in the empty second chair and giving her niece a comforting smile. “He’s going to have to get used to you dating eventually. And Lachlan is very sweet. You could’ve ended up with someone like your Uncle Cassian. He’ll get used to you having a boyfriend. I promise.”
Cassian brought the boat to a stop, effectively ending the conversation and started unloading the wakeboarding equipment.
“Can we ride tubes first, Uncle Cass?” Lily asked. “Tubing always gets saved for last and we never have much time thanks to you guys wakeboarding for hours.”
He was about to protest, even though he knew she was right, even with the unnecessary eye rolling, but Nesta said, “I think starting with tubing is a good idea. Let those two expend some of their energy before they board and try to do tricks they can’t accomplish. No trips to the hospital this year.”
The year before, there had been two trips to the hospital. One for Bennett, who’d gotten a concussion, and one for Cassian…who had thrown out his back, thanks to thinking he was still youthful enough to complete some of the tricks he had attempted.
He wasn’t.
This year, they were having none of that.
“Fine,” Cassian sighed. “Get out the tubes.”
The kids let out a round of excited yells, and up ahead, Bennett and Thorn were riding circles around each other.
Cassian, Rhysand, and Azriel took turns driving, seeing which of the kids they could throw off their tubes. Even Luna almost let out a curse - almost, but not quite.
Once they were done, everyone grabbed a sandwich as the wakeboarding began. Thorn was the first to go, which meant that John got his jetski, so everyone was happy.
At least until Thorn wiped out, then he was just pissed.
When everyone was worn out, Cassian brought the boat back to the dock, and one by one, everyone got off to slowly make their way back up to the house.
Rhysand was the last to get off, carrying a sleeping Layla up the hill. He laid his niece down in her bed before fighting everyone for one of the two showers.
“So what’s on the agenda for the rest of the day?” He asked as he stepped into the kitchen, fighting off a yawn.
Nesta was doing the same and Elain chuckled. “Seems like everyone could use some downtime. Why don’t we let the kids do their thing, take naps if they want, and we’ll start dinner around five-thirty?”
“A nap sounds awesome,” Nesta said, wrapping her arms around Cassian’s waist and laying her head on his chest. From the look on his face, he didn’t think she meant it literally. From the look on hers, she did.
And so everyone went their separate ways. Most of the kids ended up in the bonus room, either playing Xbox or entertaining themselves in someway. Ironically, only Luna and Lannan decided to lay down for naps, and Nesta, of course.
Elain’s alarm on her phone went off, letting her know it was five-thirty. She and Azriel had taken advantage of their alone time and were now just laying in bed together, although Azriel it seemed was half-asleep now that it was time to get up.
She looked up at him, eyes closed and lips parted and pressed a kiss to his cheek. He responded by rolling his head to the side, looking for her lips without opening his eyes. She kissed him again, but pulled away when his tongue brushed against her bottom lip.
Laughing softly, she got out of bed and started getting dressed. Azriel watched her with sleepy eyes. “I’m going to get Feyre so we can start making tacos. Will you get the kids up around six?”
He nodded, tucking an arm behind his head and closing his eyes again. She leaned down and pressed a kiss to the end of his nose. “Don’t fall asleep.”
“That’s asking a lot,” he replied, catching her before she could stand up, twining his fingers into her hair. “You wore me out.”
“Hush,” she said, blushing, and kissed him again before slipping out the door.
He heard a knock on a door down the hall and then Feyre’s voice joined Elain’s. The word daddy was unmistakable as they walked away and he couldn’t help but chuckle even as he blushed and covered his face with Elain’s pillow.
Once the smell of delicious food cooking started wagging towards their room, he decided it was time to get up, get dressed, and wake up his kids, knowing it’d be time to eat soon.
He stopped off in the boy’s room first, knowing Lannan would be the easiest to rouse. All he had to say was tacos, and his son was up and hurrying downstairs to help in any way he could, if it meant he could eat quicker.
Layla was still fast asleep in the room she and Scarlett shared, her braid messy from sleep. Getting her up was easy enough. She didn’t require bribery or any tricks, she liked to do as she was told. He just had to tell her that mama needed help in the kitchen and she slipped off to do what she could.
Luna’s room was at the end of the hall. She shared a room with the twins, but they were upstairs and already being told to go to the kitchen, which meant she surely was sound asleep.
Azriel didn’t bother knocking before he opened the door. “Hey, dinner’s-.”
“Fuck, Luna-.”
Luna dropped her phone and looked over her shoulder. Her eyes went wide in horror. “Dad!”
Azriel quickly shut the door, his hand remaining on the knob for a moment before he dropped it, and slowly walked down the hall, toward the kitchen.
He had not seen much, considering Luna had been under the blankets, but he knew enough about technology and the teenage mind to know exactly what had been going on.
Azriel was going to be sick.
He hadn’t even noticed the chatter going on in the kitchen as he entered.
Rhysand was in the middle of a sentence, even though Azriel had no idea what he had been saying, when Azriel said, “Elain, a word.”
The tone of his voice must’ve created alarm, because the room went quiet. Without noticing if Elain was following, Azriel walked into the living room.
He sat back on the couch, nausea brewing in the pit of his stomach.
Elain timidly entered a moment later. “You okay, babe? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
“Worse,” he said, without any hesitation. “So much worse.”
He quickly and concisely explained what he’d seen, which thankfully wasn’t much, but he knew. Oh, gods, he knew.
He heard the male voice on the other side of the video call, recognized it and hated it all the same, especially the way that voice had said his daughter’s name.
“Why didn’t you knock?” Elain asked, shaking her head as she rubbed at a spot between her eyes.
“I thought she’d be asleep!” He defended, throwing his hands up.
“She’s a teenage girl, Az,” she sighed. “Regardless, you should have knocked. She could have been changing.”
“I wish she would’ve been!” His cheeks were on fire. “That would’ve been better than…that.”
Elain stood. “I’ll go get her. Why don’t you and the boys go eat on the deck? Some fresh air might help.”
He nodded, but didn’t say anything.
“Do not be mad at her,” she added before leaving the room. “It’s not her fault you didn’t knock.”
“She shouldn’t be having video sex with her boyfriend while we’re on a family vacation,” he whispered, shooting to his feet.
“At least she didn’t get arrested having sex in the back of a truck. So this isn’t the worst thing that could have happened on this vacation,” Elain replied.
“No,” he said, heading towards the kitchen to get a plate of food. “It’s the worst thing that could have happened to me, period.”
Elain rolled her eyes, watching as Azriel stormed into the kitchen and out of sight.
Calmly, she walked down to the end of the hall and knocked on the last door.
She could hear Luna sniffling. “Yeah?”
“It’s mom,” Elain said, leaning against the door. “Can I come in?”
A second passed. “Yes.”
Elain opened the door to find Luna sitting up on her bed, wearing a hoodie and wrapped in a blanket, as if she couldn’t get enough clothes onto her body. Her eyes were red and puffy.
Elain sat on the edge of the bed and looked at her daughter. “Care to tell me your side of the story?”
Luna shook her head, then looked at her hands as she said, “We were just facetime-ing. It got...slightly intimate, nothing was even really going on, and then dad walked in.” Her face fell into her hands. “Too much was going on for him to walk in on, though, I’ll tell you that. I’ve never been so embarrassed in my life. I just hung up. Lachlan probably thinks that I just lost connection.”
Elain huffed through her nose. “Look, I don’t know exactly what your father saw, he couldn’t exactly get the words out-.”
“Me, topless, showing my boyfriend my boobs,” Luna supplied, her face still in her hands. “I mean, I was mostly under the blankets, but… I think he got the point.”
Elain had to bite her tongue to keep from laughing. Usually, she wouldn’t find things so funny, but this was Luna. Luna, who never did anything wrong. The fact that she was just like every other teenage girl, that she was just like Elain and her sisters at sixteen, was…almost refreshing.
She scooted closer and wrapped her arms around her daughter. “Your dad is having a hard time processing that his little girl isn’t so little anymore.”
“That’s an understatement,” she scoffed. “This is worse than my first period, first bra and first date combined.”
Elain couldn’t stop her chuckle again. “I think we’re probably gonna spend the rest of the evening separated. We’re gonna do our thing and the boys will do theirs. Are you hungry?”
Luna shrugged, fiddling with her phone case.
“You sure? Aunt Feyre and I made tacos.”
Looking up at her, eyes still puffy and blush still on her cheeks, Luna said, “I guess I could eat.”
“Good,” Elain said, kissing her forehead and taking her daughter’s face in her hands. “I know you’re a smart girl, and I know you care about Lachlan. But if and when things move past just showing him your boobs on FaceTime, promise me you’ll be careful.”
Luna’s cheeks were blood red again and she shook her head. “I haven’t… we haven’t… I’m still a virgin, mom.”
Elain stifled her laughter again. “I know you are, sweetie. All I’m asking is that whenever the time comes, promise me you’ll use that beautiful brain of yours and don’t let hormones get in the way. And when we get home, we can talk about birth control if you want to.”
Luna’s eyes went wide. “You’d…let me get on the pill? What about dad? He’d lose it if he found out.”
“If it means you’re being smart and safe, yes.” Elain smiled, and took her daughter’s hand. “And don’t worry about your father. I can handle him.”
“He’s awfully dramatic,” Luna mumbled. “He’s just passionate,” Elain said, correcting her. “Which means he loves as fiercely as he loses it.”
Luna chuckled, and nodded. “Let me text Lachlan about why I hung up so suddenly, then I’ll be out.”
Elain kissed Luna’s forehead before hopping off of the bed. “I’ll make you a plate of tacos.”
“Thanks, mom,” Luna said, as Elain walked out, and Elain knew it was for much more than the food.
As she walked back into the kitchen, all of the boys were out on the back porch, leaving the girls inside.
“We’re thinking about having a girls night,” Feyre said, as Elain approached. “Chick flicks, painting our nails, and mud masks?”
“I’m here for it,” Elain said. “Luna will be, too.”
Quietly, Feyre asked, “Is everything okay?”
“I’ll fill you in later,” Elain promised, and went to making Luna her plate of food. She came out a minute later, and cleared her entire plate in under five minutes.
When they were done, Legally Blonde was being set up in the living room, and Nesta was carrying out a basket of nail polish.
“Looks like the boys are going for a boat ride,” Nesta said, rolling her eyes. “Hopefully Cass isn’t driving. He can’t drive in the dark. I swear he needs glasses but he’s too stubborn to go get his eyes checked.”
“He’s in denial about getting old, Rhys was the same way,” Feyre sighed, searching through the basket for a color she liked. “But I finally convinced him to go a couple months back.
Now it’s like I have a sexy Clark Kent walking around my house in the evenings.”
“How’d you do that?” Elain asking, carrying wine glasses and a chilled bottle into the room.
The girls were all focused on the huge box of makeup Lily and Olive had brought down from the bonus room, sitting around it and begging Luna to do their makeup. Even Olive was willing to remove her thick eyeliner if it meant Luna would work her magic on her eyebrows.
“I can be very…persuasive,” she replied, filling her glass and taking a sip.
Nesta reached for the remote and turned the movie up to give their conversation a semblance of privacy, turning her attention to her sister. She whispered, “Spill.”
Feyre was blushing, clearly not expecting her sisters to jump on this particular topic. She settled back into the couch cushions and took a much larger drink of her wine. “I…let him go where no man has gone before.”
“What, like, Victoria’s Secret?” Elain asked, brow furrowed in confusion, but from the smirk on Nesta’s face, she knew exactly what Feyre meant.
“No, Lainey, not like Victoria’s Secret,” Nesta said, voice low enough that the kids couldn’t hear them over the movie. “She let him get in her ass.”
Elain blinked once and said, “Oh,” before going back to looking through the nail polish basket.
Feyre and Nesta looked at each other, before looking back at Elain.
Nesta whispered, “That was a very casual Oh.”
Shrugging, Elain glanced up at them, still looking through the basket. “That’s nothing new for us.”
Feyre’s brows shot up as Nesta leaned forward. “Okay, for the two quietest and most private in this family…you two have one hell of a sex life.”
Elain laughed, quietly, as she picked out a soft lavender nail polish. “What? We’ve always liked to keep each other…intrigued…in the bedroom.”
“And was daddy the one to introduce this…act?” Feyre asked, still dumbfounded.
Elain shrugged, falling back on the couch. “We thought we’d give it a try one day, and it was…nice.”
“Nice?” Nesta repeated.
“It’s not for everyone, but…yeah, it was nice,” Elain said. “Anyway, someone paint my right hand, please. My left is too shaky.”
Nesta did as her sister asked, even though Feyre was still staring at her, minutes later. It wasn’t until halfway through the movie, when Luna excused herself to walk into the kitchen, that Nesta excused herself to follow after.
When she walked into the kitchen, Luna was staring out the back door to where the boys were tossing a football around the campfire.
“You okay, Lunabug?” Nesta asked, referring to that old nickname from her childhood that they all still used.
Luna nodded. “Yeah, just…tired, I guess. I think I may head to bed early tonight.”
“I get that, it was a big day,” Nesta smiled, and hugged her eldest niece. “Don’t worry about your dad. I’m sure Uncle Cass and Uncle Rhys have been calming him down all night.”
“I know, I know,” Luna sighed, burying her face in her aunt’s shoulder. “How am I supposed to ever look him in the eye again though? He didn’t see anything, but he knew what was happening. It’s not hard to figure out.”
“You’re almost an adult, sweet girl,” Nesta said, tipping her chin back so she kept her head high. “Sooner or later, your dad is going to have to accept that.”
Luna nodded and hugged her aunt again. Nesta hugged her tighter and said, “How do you think I feel right now? My adult son got caught having sex in public yesterday.” She felt Luna laugh and pulled back to rest her hand against her cheek. “It could be worse. I’m sure you’re embarrassed, but this will pass, okay? Your dad is overbearing because he loves you.”
Luna’s smile was small, but Nesta could tell it was genuine. “I know. Thank you, Aunt Nes.”
“You’re welcome,” she smiled. “Love you.”
“Love you, too.”
With a goodnight, Luna was off to the room, Layla and Scarlett only a few minutes behind her. The twins, stubborn as always, said they weren’t tired, yet were asleep on the floor within ten minutes.
“Another drink, ladies?” Feyre asked, bringing out a new wine glass as she fell on the couch between her sisters.
“Please,” Elain begged, holding out her glass.
Nesta didn’t protest either as the three sisters finished the movie, drinking the night away.
*
“Fuck, the twins are only two years younger.”
Rhysand, Cassian, and Azriel were lying in the grass, a beer in their hands, staring up at the stars as their boys swam in the water, the firelight the only thing allowing them any guidance.
“I just… I knew this day was coming,” Azriel said, his words slightly slurred. “I just… I don’t know. I wasn’t ready for it.”
“Can we ever be ready for it?” Cassian asked. “Boys…they’re easy. But, girls…” Cassian shook his head. “We’re never going to be ready for anything they put us through.”
“I want to find this kid… And-.”
“And what?” Rhysand asked, laughing as he cut off Azriel. “You act like you weren’t a teenager once.”
“I was,” Azriel confessed, then sighed. “But…that was me…this is…my daughter.”
“Have you met his parents yet?” Cassian asked, sitting up and bracing his elbows on his knees. “Once we met Marion’s parents, we felt way better. Mostly because we know Lorcan Salvaterre has the capability to kick Thorn’s ass, and Thorn does, too. But it also showed us Marion is a good girl. She comes from a good family, who loves and cares for her just as much as we do Thorn.”
“We’ve met his mom,” Azriel admitted, staring at stars still. “Or Lainey has, I haven’t. But she said she was sweet. Granted, she says Lachlan is sweet, too. She thinks everyone is sweet, cause she’s sweet.”
“You guys should try to all go to dinner when we get back to Velaris,” Cass suggested, finishing his beer. He tossed his empty can into the pile by the fire. “Meet his parents, get a vibe for them, shake the kid’s hand hard enough to leave an impression. I’m sure they love Luna, just like we love Marion.”
“Them loving Luna isn’t the point,” Azriel began, quietly. “Everyone loves Luna. The problem is…is that I was a teenage boy once, and I know exactly what this kid wants.”
“You also met Elain when you were a teenager,” Rhysand pointed out. “And, you started dating when you were teenagers. You’re telling me that the only reason you wanted to be with Elain was for sex?”
Azriel paused. Then answered, shortly, “No.”
“Then maybe this kid wants more than that, too,” Cassian said.
“But he wants the other thing, too,” Azriel protested, then groaned, flipping over until his face was buried in the grass.
“You can’t make her a nun,” Cassian said, Rhysand grinning on Azriel’s other side. “You can’t keep it from happening. Teach her to be safe, and she’ll be fine.”
Azriel’s voice was muffled by the ground. “Why are you being the reasonable one right now?”
“Because I’ve also been a teenage boy who loved a girl. Because I currently have a teenage boy who loves a girl, even if he makes stupid decisions with her sometimes,” he replied. “But I have to let him make those decisions on his own so he can learn. Luna is smart, Az. She’ll make good choices, you just have to let her make them.”
He grumbled something into the grass that his brothers couldn’t hear and Rhysand ruffled the back of his hair before standing.
“It’s getting late, the kids need to get to bed.”
They called the boys out of the water, handing out towels and dousing the fire as they headed up towards the house.
“Bennett and I can carry the beers out to the garage,” Thorn said, and Cassian’s eyes immediately met Rhysand’s amused state.
“Good try,” he chuckled.
Rhys added, “You can leave them on the kitchen counter.”
The boys mumbled something under their breath, but did as they were told and they all went off to get changed and get in bed.
They found their wives on the couch, wine drunk and giggly, with the twins asleep on the floor.
“Everyone else in bed?” Cassian asked, sitting on the arm of the couch by Nesta. She laid her head against his thigh and nodded.
Feyre inclined her head to her daughters on the floor in front of them. “These two insisted they weren’t tired.”
Rhysand snorted. “I see that.”
Azriel fell onto the couch by Elain while Rhys gently woke the twins and sent them to bed.
Elain looked up at him and chuckled, quietly, as she ran her fingers through his messy hair. “You’re drunk.”
“I am not,” he lied.
“Your eyes are glazed,” she whispered, “and I could barely make sense of the three words that just came out of your mouth.”
“He only had…” Cassian cocked his head to the side, counting on his fingers. “Yeah, I lost count. How many beers you have there, Az?”
Azriel mumbled something incomprehensible and sighed.
Cassian chuckled as he stood, and gathered Nesta in his arms before walking down the hall, toward their bedroom.
Feyre followed, carrying the empty wine glasses into the kitchen.
Elain shook her head as Azriel’s eyes fluttered shut, thanks to her fingertips gently rubbing at his head. A moment later, she thought he may have fallen asleep, but then he said, “I’m scared for her.”
Elain’s fingers slowed, but she nodded. “Luna’s smart-.”
“But teenage boys aren’t,” Azriel said, opening his eyes to meet his wife’s. “I know that Luna’s smart. And everyone can keep telling me how smart she is, but it doesn’t make me trust any guy that she’ll ever be with any more. Men are idiots. And the last thing I want is for my baby to be heartbroken, crying over some dick that didn’t deserve her in the first place.” Elain’s eyes softened, but Azriel went on, “And the fact that they’re getting more….intimate, only means that Luna’s starting to trust him and like him more. And that scares me.”
“I know,” Elain said, quietly, crawling onto his lap and straddling his waist. Her forehead fell against his as his eyes fell shut, once again. “She spent the entire night thinking she’d disappointed you.”
“She didn’t disappoint me,” Azriel said, quietly, and Elain knew that he meant it. And as she pulled back, she recognized the look that was creeping into his hazel eyes: guilt.
“She’s probably still awake if you want to go talk to her,” Elain said.
Azriel hesitated, then nodded. After Elain crawled off of him, he waited a moment before pushing himself up and began to amble his way down the hall, until he reached the last door on the left.
This time, he knocked.
He waited, and when there was no response, he knocked again, only to find no response. He cracked open the door and peeked inside. The lights were off, and Luna was sound asleep, the hood of her hoodie pulled over her dark hair, and the fan across the room on high, pointed right at her.
He laughed quietly at the sight.
Yeah, she was growing up, but sound asleep, she looked like she always had: mouth hanging open, one hand tossed behind her head. She used to fall asleep on him like that, and he’d have to carry her to bed and tuck her in. That’s how she would always be to him: that little girl whose only man in her life was her daddy.
Except that’s not how it was, not anymore.
Azriel walked to her bedside and leaned down to kiss her forehead before pulling her blanket up higher around her. “Night, Lunabug.”
As he headed back for her door, he heard, “Dad?”
He spun around, that alcohol catching up with him and nearly knocking himself over, thanks to the quick motion. He grabbed the doorframe to steady himself. “I…knocked this time.”
Luna rolled over and looked at him. Thanks to the light in the hallway streaming in, he could see the hurt in her light brown eyes. “I’m sorry.”
Azriel’s shoulders sagged as he made his way back into the room and sat down on the edge of her bed. He ran a hand through his hair before saying, “You don’t need to be sorry. I’m sorry. You’re growing up, and that’s exactly what you’re supposed to do, but I’m still figuring out how to raise a young woman and not a little girl.”
Luna nodded, but said nothing.
“It’s hard, though,” he began, honestly. “When I was seventeen, Luna, I had no idea how to treat girls. I went on a lot of dates, and…did a lot of things on those dates…and, if I’m being honest with you, not a lot of those things meant anything to me other than what I got out of them at that moment.” He looked at Luna. “It wasn’t until I started dating your mom that I got some sense knocked into me.”
She chuckled at that.
“But, I also know that Lachlan is not me,” Azriel continued. “I also know that I don’t know a lot about him. So, maybe next week we can have him and his parents over for dinner, and I can start to get to know him, if he means that much to you.”
He didn’t need any light in the room to see the tears lining her eyes. “I would like that.”
“Then you talk to him, I’ll talk to mom, and we’ll make it happen, okay?” She nodded, and he leaned down to press a kiss to her forehead. “Goodnight, Lunabug. I love you.”
Her arms wrapped around his shoulders and he was glad for what little balance he still had, so he didn’t topple over on her. “I love you, too, daddy.”
Wrapping an arm around her, he held her close, not letting her go until he felt her arms getting heavier. Until he carefully settled her back into the bed, tucking the covers around her, but not too tight, because she hated feeling constricted, and pushed the hoodie back just a bit to see her sleeping face.
She looked so much like her mother while she was asleep.
Quietly, carefully, he slipped out the door and closed it behind him.
He could tell the television and lights had been shut off in the living room, so he aimed for their bedroom instead, and found Elain sleepily beneath the covers herself. He stripped off his shirt and shorts, wearing just a pair of boxer-briefs and slid into bed beside her, aware that he probably smelled like a bar. Elain didn’t complain though, she just laid her head on his chest and slung an arm and leg over his body.
“How’d it go?” She asked into the darkness.
“Good. She was asleep, and I accidentally woke her up, but it’s okay. We needed to talk,” he admitted. He paused for a second before asking,
“Do you have Lachlan’s parents numbers?”
Lifting her head, Elain looked at him in the moonlight. “We are not talking to them about this at midnight, Azriel.”
“No, no,” he chuckled, rubbing a calming hand up and down her arm. “I was thinking it might be nice to have them over for dinner one night next week, all of them. Lachlan, Aelin and Rowan.”
Elain lifted a brow. “You’re serious.”
Azriel blinked. “Why wouldn’t I be serious?”
“Because you’re drunk and you just spent the entire day throwing a hissy fit,” Elain mumbled, nuzzling into his neck.
Azriel laughed, quietly. “Damn, you’re mean.”
Elain huffed then propped herself up on an elbow. “I’m serious. If they come over, you need to be nice.”
Azriel scoffed, his hand sliding down her back then up her shirt. “I’m always nice.”
“No mean-mugging the kid,” Elain went on. “You will ask him about his likes and dislikes, and you will not scare him shitless.”
Azriel sighed. “Yeah, yeah. I promise.”
“And you will offer Rowan some of your good whiskey,” Elain said.
Azriel looked pointedly at his wife. “There’s no need to get carried away.”
Elain grinned as she leaned down and pressed her mouth softly against his. “I love you.”
“I love you, too,” he whispered, and closed his eyes.
He was sound asleep before Elain could even lay back down, and snuggle up to him beneath the covers.
He was over-dramatic, and surely a pain in her ass, but by the gods, she loved that man. He had given her three beautiful, perfect children, and although, sixteen years after their first was born, they were still figuring this whole parenting ordeal out….Azriel was doing a pretty damn good job.
Which only made her love him even more.

the musical voice of tiffany darwish can be heard throughout the house, muffled through the walls of five’s childhood bedroom. you stand at the window, looking out at the fire escape you used to climb up, just to hang out with him.
with a sigh, you turn around to look at the rest of the room. it’s spotless. you assume it has been for a while now. grace definitely kept up with the whole house, even with all of the kids gone. there was no layer of dust, all of the old uniforms in the closet are still ironed. it brings you back to those days, and it’s hard to believe that it’s been sixteen years since he disappeared.
you can remember that day like yesterday, yet you were only thirteen then.

you looked up at the fire escape, taking a short breath. you have done this for years, and you had perfected the technique of getting your coffee and donuts past the ladder to the first platform.
the bag of donuts is held in your teeth, freeing one of your hands. the other holds the tray of the coffees, and you carefully put a foot on the first rung of the ladder, before grabbing on to the side it and pulling yourself.
it used to be a slow process, but you have mastered it by now. slide your hand up, and step up a few more rungs. when you got close enough, you placed the tray and donuts on the platform and climbed the rest of the way. luckily, the rest of the way up was stairs.
when you got to the window and knocked on the glass a few times, you expected five to open it like always, but instead it was vanya who appeared.
your eyebrows furrowed as she pushed the window open, and you hesitantly climbed in. sitting on the sill and silently dropping to the floor, to avoid the risk of his father finding out that you were here. “vanya? where’s five?”
she seemed nervous, which you thought was weird. you slowly placed the food on his desk as she played with her fingers.
“he’s- he’s gone, y/n.”
you think you’ve heard her wrong. you had to. there was just no way.
“what?” you question in disbelief, hating the small crack in your voice. “what do you mean, ‘gone’? what do you mean?” you sound more desperate the more you speak.
“he ran out.” she explains, avoiding eye contact. “during dinner. he was arguing with dad about time travel and he just- he just left.”
you fall onto the edge of his bed, feeling the tears beginning to swell in your eyes. “no.” you whisper to yourself, “no!”
before you know it, you’re sobbing, and vanya is at your side to comfort you.
-
you bite your lip as the memory rises to the surface. sitting on the bed, you focus on the lyrics playing.
i think we’re alone now
the beating of our hearts is the only sound
the music stops as there’s a loud rumble is heard outside. the whole house feels like it’s shaking and outside, there is flashing blue light that floods into the room through the window.
you run down the stairs, and into the large courtyard. there, in the sky, is a glowing blue portal type thing.
“what is it?” you hear vanya ask.
“don’t get too close!” allison’s voice, and then,
“yeah, no shit.”
luther pushes past everyone, looking up at the thing. “looks like some sort of temporal anomaly. either that or a miniature black hole. one of the two.”
“pretty big difference there, paul bunyan.” diego tells him.
“out of the way!” klaus comes running out of the house, and you quickly step to the side as he rushes forward with a fire extinguisher, spraying at the anomaly before giving up and just throwing it in. it disappears.
“what is that gonna do?” you shout over the loud rumbling.
“i don’t know,” klaus shrugs, a whine in his tone, “do you have a better idea?”
electricity starts to crackle around the portal, and klaus is falling back behind everyone again.
“everybody get behind me.” luther commands, and you don’t mind listening to him for once, but of course diego has to step in front too.
“i vote for running, come on!” klaus yells.
you watch as you can see a person pushing through before falling onto the ground from the portal.
as if it didn’t happen, the thunder and electricity in the air disappear, and all of you step forward towards the man. your eyebrows furrow as you think you recognize him while he is standing up.
“does anyone else see...” klaus points towards him, “he looks like a grown up five.”
your eyes widen as you realize that he’s right. “oh my god.” you rush forward, grabbing him and crushing him in a hug. “oh my god, you’re back!”
“they’re totally in love with each other.” you can hear klaus say it, and your face suddenly feels hot, but you choose to ignore it.
-
you’re back in his room, and the memory of him disappearing that day is replaced by all of the good times you had together. thinking about what klaus said, you think that he just might be right. you felt it when you were younger- of course you didn’t realize what it was at the time. you felt like a kid again. heart racing at the sight of him... all grown up.
yet he still looked like your five.
“i missed you.” your voice is surprisingly quiet as you lay on your back next to him, staring up at the ceiling as you play with your fingers that rest on your stomach.
“i missed you too.” his voice is quiet as well, and you turn your head ever so slightly to catch a small glimpse at him.
biting your lip for a moment, you think about what to say. “where were you?” you decide to ask, and you can tell that the question makes him tense for a moment.
he takes a glance at you, before taking a deep breath. “i got stuck in the future.” he tells you, and your eyebrows furrow slightly.
“stuck?” you repeat.
“yeah.” he gives a small nod with the confirmation, “i overestimated myself, and the consequences were like some sort of sick punishment. i should have just listened to that old man.”
there’s quiet for a moment as you wonder what he meant by a punishment. turning on your side, you look at him. “what do you mean? was it not just… normal?”
his head turns and his eyes meet yours, and you can see some sort of pain in them. “it was an apocalypse.”
you’re stunned into silence, and your lips just hang apart as you try to process his confession. “i don’t know how it happened, but there was fire and everything was just crumbled to the ground and-” he gulps slightly, and your eyes soften, “i saw all of them. dead.”
“oh my god, five.” you know who he meant, and you can only imagine what he felt in that moment. your hand meets his and you hold it softly. “i’m so sorry.”
“it wasn’t your fault.” you can feel his grip around your hand tighten slightly. “i just wish i wasn’t stupid enough to actually try that.”
“well...” you pause for a moment, not exactly sure what to say. “you’re back now, and that’s all that matters.” of course it’s not all that matters. he must have gathered so much trauma over the sixteen years he was stuck in a literal wasteland… you couldn’t imagine having to go through that.
he’s quiet for a second, before he turns on his side as well and your eyes meet. it was like staring into the past. “it is.” his agreement is surprising, but it makes you smile softly.
a long silence falls, and it feels like you’re just staring into his eyes for what could be hours, but in reality it was only really a few minutes or even less.
you take a shaky breath. “can i kiss you?” the question slips from your mouth unexpectedly, and you nearly slap yourself in the face. “god, i’m sorry, i didn’t mean-”
you aren’t able to finish your apology for the words you blurted out because he had leaned forward and caught your lips in his.
it seemed like something you were waiting for for years. maybe you were. it felt right.
it doesn’t last long enough for you, but you feel like the oxygen has been sucked from your body as you open your eyes to look at him. a small smile spreads across your face.
“i’m glad you’re back.”
