Sydney Adamu: the chemist of the kitchen

I keep coming back to this moment, to this second in “Brigade”, not only because is one of my favorite Sydcarmy moments but also because it could give us a clue about Sydney’s future.

So, Sydney didn’t know about this dish previously. The camera made a point on focusing her face just minutes before, to show her thinking about Carmy was saying. Why do that if not to highlight the fact that Sydney was hearing about all this for the first time? There is also the possibility that the dish Sydney ate at Carmy’s restaurant was the one they were talking about. But even that, she had to figure out, how they made that particular texture. A discovery that took a chef, with more accreditations that she has ever had, an entire year to figure out. Hence the complete and utter impression that she knowing how to do it had on Carm. He has recognized her skills before but this was some other level shit, the first time he could suspect she could get to his level. There is a motif between Syd and the Vel fat, somebody pointed out that Carmy was buying some when he met with Claire for the first time in the season, as a signal that he was thinking of Syd and doing a dish that would interest her.

Now, I want to highlight the fact that Sydney’s discovery was on a chemical process, hence why it took this other chef some much time to figure it out. For them it was likely the result of repeated experiments in order to, maybe, get the right combination out of luck. The fact that Sydney made this discovery, even if she was thinking about it for a while before, is likely the result of mental analysis, not experiments, how could she have experimented with all this fancy ingredients Carmy had, all on her own?

Some fic writers had speculated that Syd may have a stem related degree, maybe in pure chemistry, man that would be so cool. Maybe she got burned out in becoming a chemist or just recognized her true passion.

All of this to say I think it would be cool if her knowledge becomes the base for creative process in the future. Maybe experiment or analysis will help her to come with ideas. Kinda “lessons in chemistry” type of thing. It will get her a voice that is distinct from Carmy’s.

     HE  COULD  HEAR  THE  SOUND  FROM  VERY  FAR  AWAY.  The tell - tale cues of distress,  so sweet as it was.  High pitched hysteria,  really.  Was it panic?  Fear?  A result of a nightmare,  perhaps?  He followed the sound with a perked up ear  &&  eager eyes.  He spotted her quickly in the relative dark of hotel lobby.

        ❛  Oh,  my.  What seems to be the problem?  Dove,  yes?   ❜

     She was newer to the hotel,  he believed.  A lost little soul,  certainly,  sweet in looks  &&  behavior both.  A soft little sigh left him as he put a lengthy arm around around her small frame.  An attempt at comfort,  maybe.

     HAVING  HER  DAD  HERE  NOW  was new  &&  challenging in its' own right.  Mostly for the sake of its' new - ness.  She loved having him here,  she was so incredibly grateful to have his support.  It was a little more awkward,  though,  it felt like.  She wanted to curry his favor,  his approval,  always,  &&  so far  ...  well.  It hadn't been easy,  &&  she had some worries.

         ❛  Well,  I've been thinking about trying to landscape a bit,  set up a little garden space.  Studies show that spending time outside is an overall mood booster,  &&  it could be a project that everyone gets to take part in  &&  leave their own little mark,  you know?  I'm just not super sure where?  I considered doing,  like,  a rooftop addition?  Or a greenhouse off to the side,  on top of just little window boxes  &&  little things.  ❜

     It was simple,  sweet,  &&  something she hoped would promote some more easy comraderie between the others.  She wasn't the expert on shaping the land,  though,  or building new additions.  She was trying to procure the proper tools already,  but she looked to Lucifer for his opinion quickly,  waiting with bated breath.

Ngl, if Tiana doesn't wield a firearm in some way in her new series, I'm gonna be so disappointed. Firearms were already very legal and commonly used in the States by the mid-late 1920s (which is when TPATF mostly takes place), so I'd like to see her sport it at least once. She'd be the first Disney Princess to canonically wield a gun/firearm. They seriously need to make that happen. Also, why doesn't fanart of her wielding a firearm exist????

        HUSK.  The bartender of her daughter's hotel.  He used to be an Overlord,  a powerful one,  at that.  Lilith liked to keep track of the Overlords hitting the top.  But with a series of Overlord fallings for varied reasons,  it seemed like the once lucky cat was no longer quite so lucky.  She knew many Overlords had been killed by the very Radio Demon inhabiting the same hotel,  but given that Husk was alive,  the details of his power loss  &&  fall remained quite the mystery.

     But Lilith had come back to Hell,  with every intent of watching this little project of her daughter's in some way.  She had low hopes that it would work,  at least the way Charlie was currently handling it.  She had plenty of reasons to be concerned,  not only with the people that she seemed intent on inviting,  but even more so the seeming complete  &&  total trust placed in them.  As it stood,  though,  she was in no position to be making changes of her own for now.  So,  instead,  she found herself settled at the bar,  watching the winged - cat demon with interest in her eyes.

I finished Baldur's Gate 3 tonight, and I am almost completely satisfied. It was a spectacular game! A lot of thought and patience goes into it, especially when you play like I do with mods that expand the party and my insatiable need for loot. The story and the characters are all beautifully written, and I can see how there might be thousands of different ways to play it! I think the only addition I could possibly ask for is for something at the very end, one of those sequences where the narrator tells us what each character in the party goes on to do after the credits roll. Other than that, I am quite satisfied with how it turned out! I got the endings I wanted, the mods I used upped the quality of life to the max, and I had so much fun playing! If you have the time for a game as involved as this one, I absolutely 100% recommend it!

when u tell someone who hasn’t had to apply for a job in a while “the interview process is like 6 weeks atp” they don’t believe you but a lot of employers will wait like 2 weeks to follow up, and they always need to do multiple rounds of interviews which takes a week for each round, and then there’s two more weeks of dead silence before you hear back. sometimes you’ll apply for something in january and they will call you up in the summer like “hey you still want the job” it’s crazy. they’re out here putting desk clerks through two phone interviews and two in persons at two different locations. they make the pages interview TWICE and they also have to do TWO sorting tests!! that job pays well below minimum wage, it’s a job meant for retirees and high school students why do you interview them like it requires a mlis
