"Psychotic people would be terrified of or completely confused/fooled by their hallucinations" Yeah I spent years terrified of them... because I had a terrible shrink. Then I got a better one. Now, (when they do happen, because I'm fucking medicated,) I'm just annoyed.
"Psychotic people would never admit to or mention their hallucinations" Actually I've figured out that the only way to make them as not-scary to other people as they've become to me has got to be to talk about them as casually as they occur. God knows nothing else has helped.
ive found that partially treated mental illness can sometimes look to uninvolved onlookers like faked mental illness.
#my family will inquire about my health at functions#because of my me/cfs#and the constantly evolving understanding of ot#and lately I've included#“yeah it makes my breakthrough hallucinations more frequent”#because that is legit what has happened as my physical health has decreased#and i describe them and what living with them is like#and i get confused or alarmed looks sometimes m#because i never talked about the mechanics of the disease before#and I've discovered my family has collective cptsd#because my oldest uncle died of it before i was born#so this is radical healing in action right here

The Little Engine that COuld: A Cinematic Trilogy of Train Madness (Commission for Lachey V
Happy new year all you happy people!
This year was rough and i'll get into it more in my best of the year lists but for now let's talk about Trains again. Once again Lachey has asked me to cover trains. Unlike Thomas though this one did have a part in my childhood, it's the Little Engine That Could.
The Little Engine that Could, for those who didn't grow up with this one, is a story that had been passed around some time, evolving and even getting a book in the 20's that didn't stand well as a folk tale about a little engine who thinks she can , she thinks she can.. and she's right. The story got popularized by a 1950 version that's been the standard since by publisher Arnold Munk, who wrote a bunch of stories under the pseudonym Walty Piper, one of many. It's a book I cherished as a kid, an inspiring story of not giving up and trains and the cover always stuck out ot me
So when Lachey asked me to cover the various adaptations of it, I was all aboard. So today we're covering the 1963 short, the 1991 tv special and the 2011 Movie. So get aboard for film strips, murder mountains, and nightmare trains, this is The Little Engine that Could
The 1963 Short
Our first is also our shortest with each version ramping up in length and rediculouness. The initial short is just a 1:1 adaptation of the book, which was a nice refresher for me. The story is simple: An engine gets derailed while trying to deliver the birthday train, a train filled with sentient toys for the children
None of the other trains will help him either because their too old or because if they were an ice cream flavor they'd be pralines and dick, the latter being consistent across all three versions. Thankfully a little engine happens by and thinks she can and despite her size and struggles she perseveres. I'ts a good story about overcoming your limitations. I could pick apart this aseop.. but I won't. While perseverance can be a BAD thing sometimes, see our current political state, it's not a bad thing to teach childern especially onces who might have confidence issues. It's a solid short with a good message and nice narration. Not much to say on it but a good time nonetheless.
The 1991 VHS Special:
The 1991 version is Lachey's faviorite, even having a cell from it and i'm happy to say out of the three it's mine too. This special oozes with charm, having a nice soothing tone to it, bright vibrant animation and and starring voice acting legend Kathie Sourcie as the titular engine, named tilly, a child train whose constantly told no to actually getting to haul cargo by the dickish water tower what runs the train yard.
This one nicely expands things, introducing the other engines first so we meet the one whose old, now cartoonishly sputtering and the one whose an asshole who refuses to help because it's beneath them who looks a LOT like a certain other asshole
It's a nice bit of expansion and needed in a half hour specail without overdoing it. It simply gives the trains more fleshed out versions of thir persionalities; the train carrying the birthday train whose name i'd forgotten is kind, motherly and supportive to Tillie, the train whose too old is a milk train, and the train whose an asshole is a bully to tillie.
The entire world hates tillie in this one. That's not an exageration: the tower screams in a child's face no at her desires, and when she does finally sneak out to think she can, the entire world is determined to stop her. That's not hyperbole. A random eagle screechs at her ot turn back. The winds turn against her. A fucking mountain bellows at her TURN BACK TURN BACK. The entire world wants to make sure she can't.. and she proves them wrong. We even get a jaunty musical number that slaps
youtube
Also Frank Welker can fucking belt.. I do not understand why they didn't have him sing for the Scooby Doo Musical. But Nothing Can Stop Me Now is a belter, an adorable song that gets the message acrossed amazingly, written by the same chaps what made the ducktales theme. It's a fucking triumphant song.
And naturally after all the trials it plays again when our heroine wins the day, delvering the birthday train to a kid. As you can see not only are the toys fleshed out a bit, but we actually get a story behind the train: it's a train that delivers a ton of toys and good times to someone on their birthday as before but we now get a kid waiting for it while his sister mocks him because older siblings be dicks sometimes. I have a teenagerdom of being called stalin to prove it.
The 1991 special is a great adaptation, taking the general outline of the book and beefing it up into a charming little specail. 30 minutes is just about the right runtime: enough to flesh out the story but not so much you have to add a lot of weird shit to make this a full movie. I mean there is the eagle telling a child train to go back, but it's the normal amount of nuts. For our next one though....
The DTV Full Length Movie (2011)
So in 2011 unviersal studios said "Quick we need a film to put out on dvd grandparents will buy for their kids not knowing better!' and thus the Little Engine that Could 2011 was spat into the world out of a stygian hole in the sky.
The Little Engine that Could has a BAFFLING array of talent behind it. The cast includes Phineas and Ferb's Alyson Stoner , Whoppi Goldberg, Patrick Warburton, Brenda Song, Jim Cummings, Charlie Schlatter and all around legend Jamie Lee Curtis. All fantastic actors who badly needed a paycheck.
LETC takes the bare bones of the main idea, an engine hauling a cart of toys, and makes it the story of Dream Haulers, trains who deliver dreams to children. A concept that could make a good show for younger children, have trains help solve their problems and such, but here is just a backdrop for a very by the numbers plot: A quirky determined underdog wants to live their dream but THE MAN won't let them, meanwhile a child is bullied and needs to learn a lessson or something so he ends up in a fantasy world but it's a BIIIIGGGGGGGG disaster for that world, so our plucky underdog takes him on a journey home with the help of a bunch of oddballs she picks up along the way. She looses faith after the villian tricks her but finds her courage again after a pep talk and everything's fine.
This film felt weirder watching it: you have big names doing this thing, a weird concept that's vaugely defined, usual so bad it's good stuff.. but the film is so bland. Looking back on it for this review it just.. exists. It was a slog to get through and the more I think about it the less it appears. The voice performances are good for the most part: Allyson Stoner, a veteran from Phineas and Ferb at this point, does a fantastic job, using a similar voice to isabella and giving the train a lot more character than the script, Whoopie Goldberg does her best as the stern yet well meaning control tower.. thing, Jamie Lee Curtis is a clown toy, one of may toys the engine fines because THE BOOK DID IT and has a lot of fun and Patrick Warburton is his usual fantastic self as the train's car/sidekick. He dosen't get to do much but that's more because the film is so paper thin. Every character is just... a bland description. The plucky hero, the snooty bully, the valley girl bully, the strict but well meaning boss, the worn out mentor who causes this whole mess and needs to be saved, the villian, the secondary mentor you find on the quest, the comic relief.
The exception to this.. is the most obnoxious character in the movie and sadly our Co-Lead, Richard. Richard is memorable.. because he won't shut the fuck up and won't stop complaning the entire film. He starts out being bullied, with the film giving the old cliche you should stand up to your bullies. That always ends well and surely dosen't still get you a cup of punch in the face. I'm not saying don't stand up, but the film treats it as a weakness of richards for not going back to get his grandpa's pocket watch they take. That he's cowardly. Him avoiding telling his grandpap is a bit but in fairness Richard probably dosen't want to have to bury the bodies. So he hops on a train which rusty, little engine's mentor played by Jim Cummings who tries his best, who taking a nap doesn't notice a child on the train which shatters the barrier between worlds and forces the little engine to take the long way. Just as a quick aside before I gripe about a fictional child... Rusty himself.. is a weak character. We're supposed to WANT him to get his job back, as little engine does.. but he's tired, falling asleep on the job and his negligience causes their tunnel to collapse. All the control tower does is demote him to moving shit around. She doesn't even fire him... if i'ts possible. It's sad.. but even Rusty admits this was his fault. Granted everyone ignoring his backup plan to go over the mountain as an ass saving lie is stupid, and they shoudl've at lest sent someone to scout to see if it was possible. But i'm giving too much credit to a film that is trying for the youngest audience possible as an excuse to fart out crap.. whcih it isn't. I mean i've reviewed 5 seasons of Thomas and Friends at this point: it may be bonkers due to things they didn't think through, but boy you can just feel the love and effort squeezed into every frame, the creativity, the pomp.
Here it's just a lifeless film that plops a troubled boy into it because ad executive law states if you make something with a girl protaganist kids won't love it.. which makes me giggle uncontrollably when I think the most popular younger ages show today not only has a female lead, but actually you know tries. But back in 2011 you had to staple a penis onto a project to get it made, and thus we have Richie who just whines the whole journey. now granted he is right to be a little sore, he's in another universe because he went in a train car to mope. No one would handle that well. But the way he just complains or whinges about the dreamland they pass through being "girly" and asks where all the superheroes are. Richard spends the whole film just not shutting up and only occasionaly lightneing up and is only really useful when there's either no other choice or it's the climax so he has to be. His character development is also weak as he just .. grows a spine because he went on a life threatning adventure?
It may also be because he threw pies at nightmarish simulcra of his bullies. Yeah this film suddenly takes a turn in the last act as for no decsrinble reason we get a proper antagonist. The bullies are just the setup and normally it'd just be the other trains and the tower doubting the engein..which really is enough. When she goes for their help they mocker her like assholes. The only notable one is Brenda Songs, who dosen't have a name, and even then she's just a typical airhead/brat character way bellow her va's paygrade and talents. Song hadn't done amphibia yet but she'd done enough suite life to show she had comedic chops that are never left out to thaw here.
Instead we get THE NIGHTMARE TRAIN, an evil train that tricks the engine into giving her it's cargo and plans to uh.. run around with it, do stuff. He delivers nightmares and.. is never brought up before this. He is intresting, the idea of this oppisite numbers, his plan to only deliver nightmares, he's a little creepy.. but like the rest they just don't do much. We just get the bully hullcinations because it's all production could afford and a chase scene once the little engine is encouraged by patrick warburton to go kick this man's ass.
So everything wraps up okay and this film... it.. sure did happen. That's about it. This film is bonkers but not enough to be so bad it's good, has a cast way too good for it. It exists and that's about all it does and it's questionable if it even does that well. Thankfully the perfect adaptation had only been made and as ravenous for IP hollywood is, this mess hasn't been attempted again. Maybe some day we'll get a tv show, a thomas and friends like affair. But for now i'm glad we got the terrible dtv half assed phase of adapting this joyous book out of our system. Remember i'm pulling for ya, we're all in this together.

¶ … Occupational Therapy The medical field is constantly undergoing significant changes in response to the changing health and social needs of Canadians, as well as health care delivery systems. Occupational therapy is an integral part of this process, as it has expanded from traditional hospital settings to home and community care. Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists identifies some of the existing trends as affecting occupational therapy: • an aging population • increased awareness of the needs of people with disabilities • higher survival rates from accidents and injuries • increased emphasis on health promotion and prevention to keep health care costs down • higher incidence of mental health and family problems • changes in work conditions such as job stress and early retirement • a more informed public regarding health and health concerns In my opinion one of rapidly evolving trends in occupational therapy in Ontario is its increasing role in providing care to the aging population in long-term care settings. In fact the aging population is growing rapidly, with many individuals moving to long-term care facilities each day. New retirement homes are being built all over Ontario and particularly in GTA; therefore I would say this trend is "visible." I've found out that Ontario Long-Term Care Association (OLTCA) commissioned the Conference Board of Canada to investigate the innovation potential of the Ontario residential long-term care sector. The resulting report, titled "Elements of an Effective Innovation Strategy for Long-Term Care in Ontario," highlights significant challenges and opportunities within the sector and examines possible strategies that would help make patient care in long-term care settings more effective. Some of the facts presented in the report include: • By 2035 there will be nearly 238,000 Ontarians in need of long-term care (versus about 98,000 today). • There has already been a marked increase in the number of long-term care residents with multiple diagnoses or co-morbidities, and chronic diseases will only continue to be more prevalent in future years. • Baby boomers are likely to exhibit stronger preferences for independent living arrangements, greater autonomy, and choice in services than previous generations. The report shows that occupational therapy is at the core of presenting good care within retirement home and long tem care facilities. However, the report also showed that there was a shortage in occupational therapists currently serving as staff in the many retirement homes across the country. The role of Occupational Therapist (OT) in retirement home is multi-faceted and often includes education and training. Occupational Therapist provides elderly residents with adaptations and training that will help them thrive independently for as long as possible. Occupational Therapist will outline physical risks for individual residents, environmental risks, and risky behaviors of the elderly who are mobile and who have a diagnosis such as arthritis or other medical conditions, like dementia. Occupational Therapists also help staff members learn the proper use of sit to stand lifts and ceiling lifts in order to prevent workplace injuries. Understanding the proper use of body bio-mechanics, Occupational Therapists educate staff members on how to safely transfer residents in and out of bed or in and out of wheelchairs, for example. Another trend, which I would like to mention, is the increasing role occupational therapy plays within community mental health programs, especially in supporting individuals of all ages with mental illness transitioning from correctional-based settings to the community. Here, thhe Occupational Therapist's role includes consulting of the setting staff, case managing, working with the outreach specialists, carrying out assessments, and conducting one-to-one talks with patients to develop goals and skills. OT provides therapy to patients in connection to real-life situations, which enables independence and self-determination for individuals by creating opportunities to learn and practice personal health practices and coping skills. OT also helps by creating an opportunity to develop social support networks and ensuring clients have access to necessary services. OT services for children with developmental and/or learning problems may include conducting treatment programs, providing training for teachers and parents, or consulting on designing barrier-free classrooms and ergonomic adjustments of school environment. In all their roles Occupational therapists help patients not only to improve their basic motor functions and reasoning abilities, but also to compensate for permanent loss of function in order to prevent unnecessary hospital stays or premature nursing home admissions. The future is bright!!
The future of occupational therapy (OT) is bright, full of possibilities and exciting challenges that will reshape the way we practice. As I reflect on my journey and the future that lies ahead, I find myself both eager and curious about the innovations that will define our profession. OT has always been rooted in holistic care, valuing the person as a whole and considering the full spectrum of their physical, emotional, and social needs. But as the world evolves, so must we. The question isn’t just how we adapt to these changes, but how we can actively shape the future of OT in ways that better serve our clients and our communities.
During my fieldwork, I’ve had moments where I had to stop and think differently about how I approach therapy. There were times when what I was doing just wasn’t enough to meet a client’s needs. These were challenging moments but necessary ones. They pushed me to grow as a person and as a future OT. One of the most exciting things about the future of OT is how technology is changing the field. Tools like artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality (VR), and telehealth are opening new ways to help people. AI can help track client progress more accurately, while VR allows clients to practice real-life skills in a safe, virtual environment. Telehealth, especially after the pandemic, has shown how we can connect with clients who live far away or can’t come into the clinic easily.
One client has significantly impacted how I think about therapy. He has schizophrenia and PTSD, and his symptoms started after he experienced a traumatic event during his army training. When I first began working with him, I realized that focusing solely on his mental health symptoms wasn't enough; his emotional well-being, particularly managing stress and anxiety, needed just as much attention. This led me to provide him with simple tools, like a stress ball and breathing exercises, to help him manage these challenges in his daily life. These small interventions helped me see how crucial it is to address the emotional aspects of therapy, focusing not only on what’s outwardly visible but also on the inner emotional experiences of our clients.
Looking back on my experiences, I can see how much I’ve grown, both personally and professionally. I used to think OT was mostly about applying the right techniques, but now I realize it’s much more than that. It’s about constantly reflecting on what works, being open to change, and always focusing on the unique needs of each client. This shift in how I think about OT has had a big impact on how I approach my work.
Feedback from my supervisors has played a key role in my development. It has helped me see where I can improve and has encouraged me to think more critically about my practice. Professional growth, I’ve learned, isn’t just about learning new skills—it’s about being open to feedback and being willing to change how you do things. It’s about doing what’s best for the client, even if it means stepping outside of your comfort zone.
As I look to the future of OT, I’m excited about what’s to come. The field is growing, and with it, the ways we can help people are expanding too. Whether it’s through new technology or better understanding the emotional needs of our clients, OT is moving forward in meaningful ways. But as we embrace these changes, we need to stay grounded in the values that make our work special: empathy, creativity, and a deep commitment to helping others.
The future of OT is bright, but it is also one that requires us to be proactive. We must be ready to lead the way, to embrace innovation while staying grounded in the values that define our profession. For me, that means continuing to reflect on my practice, staying curious about new developments, and always keeping the well-being of my clients at the centre of my work. How are you preparing to embrace the future of OT? What steps are you taking to ensure that your practice remains relevant and impactful in the years to come? These are the questions we must all ask ourselves as we move forward together, toward a future full of possibility.

Firewall killswitch
A firewall killswitch is a critical feature in network security that can help prevent cyber attacks and unauthorized access to sensitive data. This feature allows organizations to instantly cut off all network traffic in the event of a security breach or any suspicioսs activities.
The firewall killswitch acts as a last line of defense to protect the network from malicious threats. When activated, it can isolate the affected system or systems from the rest of the network, preventing the spread of malware and unauthorized access to other devices or servers.
One of the key benefits of a firewall killswitch is its ability to minimize the impact of a potential security incident. By quickly shutting down network traffic, organizations can limit the damage caused by cyber attacks and prevent valuable data from being compromised.
Additionally, a firewall killswitch can provide network administrators with valuable time to assess the situation, investigate the root cause of the security breach, and implement necessary measures to restore the network's integrity.
In today's increasingly interconnected world, where cyber threats are constantly evolving, having a firewall killswitch is essential for ensuring the security and privacy of sensitive information. By incorporating this feature into their network security strategy, organizations can better safeguard their data, systems, and reputation from cyber attacks.
UFW compatibility
Title: Understanding UFW Compatibility: Ensuring Smooth Firewall Integration
UFW (Uncomplicated Firewall) compatibility plays a crucial role in managing and securing network traffic efficiently. As an essential tool for firewall management on Linux systems, UFW offers simplicity and ease of use without compromising on security. However, ensuring compatibility with various systems and applications is paramount to its effectiveness.
When considering UFW compatibility, it's essential to assess its integration with different Linux distributions. While UFW is primarily designed for Ubuntu and Debian-based systems, it can also be utilized on other distributions with varying degrees of compatibility. Users should verify UFW support and functionality on their specific distribution to avoid any potential issues.
Furthermore, compatibility extends beyond the operating system to encompass applications and services running on the network. UFW must seamlessly integrate with these components to provide comprehensive protection without causing disruptions. Testing UFW compatibility with commonly used applications ensures that it can effectively control traffic flow while maintaining service availability.
Additionally, compatibility considerations extend to network configurations and protocols. UFW should support a wide range of protocols and network setups to accommodate diverse environments. Whether it's managing inbound or outbound traffic, UFW compatibility ensures consistent enforcement of firewall rules across different networking scenarios.
Regular updates and maintenance are essential to maintaining UFW compatibility. As new Linux distributions, applications, and network technologies emerge, developers continually update UFW to ensure compatibility with the latest developments. Staying informed about updates and implementing them promptly helps mitigate compatibility issues and enhances overall security posture.
In conclusion, UFW compatibility is vital for seamless firewall integration and effective network security management. By assessing compatibility with operating systems, applications, and network configurations, users can leverage UFW's capabilities to safeguard their systems and data effectively. Regular updates and proactive maintenance are key to ensuring ongoing compatibility and optimal performance of UFW in diverse environments.
Network security
Title: Safeguarding Your Digital Fortress: A Primer on Network Security
In today's interconnected world, where data flows freely and cyber threats loom large, ensuring robust network security has become paramount for individuals and organizations alike. Network security encompasses a range of measures designed to protect the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of data transmitted over computer networks.
One of the foundational elements of network security is encryption. By encrypting data, whether it's emails, files, or communications, information is transformed into an unreadable format, thereby thwarting unauthorized access. Advanced encryption standards, such as AES (Advanced Encryption Standard), are widely employed to secure sensitive information.
Firewalls serve as the gatekeepers of network traffic, filtering incoming and outgoing data based on predetermined security rules. These barriers act as a barrier against malicious actors attempting to infiltrate networks or launch cyber attacks. Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) and Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) work in tandem with firewalls to detect and mitigate suspicious activities in real-time.
Regular software updates and patches are crucial for addressing vulnerabilities that cybercriminals exploit to gain unauthorized access to networks. By promptly applying security patches provided by software vendors, organizations can bolster their defenses against emerging threats.
Implementing strong access controls, such as multi-factor authentication (MFA) and role-based access control (RBAC), helps limit access to sensitive data and resources to authorized users only. Additionally, conducting regular security audits and penetration testing enables organizations to identify and address security weaknesses before they can be exploited by malicious actors.
Educating employees about best practices in cybersecurity, such as avoiding suspicious links and attachments, practicing good password hygiene, and being vigilant against social engineering tactics, is essential in fostering a security-conscious culture within organizations.
In conclusion, network security is a multifaceted discipline aimed at safeguarding digital assets from cyber threats. By adopting a proactive approach and implementing robust security measures, individuals and organizations can mitigate risks and ensure the integrity and confidentiality of their data in an increasingly interconnected world.
Privacy protection
Privacy protection is a crucial aspect of our digital lives in the modern age. With the advancement of technology and increasing online presence, it has become more important than ever to safeguard our personal information from potential threats and breaches.
There are various ways to enhance privacy protection online. One of the most basic yet effective methods is to regularly update and strengthen passwords for all online accounts. Using unique and complex passwords across different platforms can significantly reduce the risk of unauthorized access to sensitive data.
In addition, being mindful of the information shared on social media and other online platforms is essential for maintaining privacy. Oversharing personal details or location information can make individuals more vulnerable to identity theft and other privacy infringements.
Furthermore, utilizing secure and encrypted connections, such as virtual private networks (VPNs), can help protect data transmission online. VPNs create a secure connection between the user and the internet, preventing third parties from intercepting sensitive information.
It is also important to be cautious of phishing attempts and suspicious links that may lead to malware or unauthorized access to personal data. Verifying the authenticity of websites and sources before sharing any information is crucial in preventing privacy breaches.
Overall, prioritizing privacy protection in the digital age is critical for safeguarding personal information and maintaining control over our online presence. By implementing these practices and staying informed about cybersecurity threats, individuals can proactively protect their privacy in an increasingly interconnected world.

🌑🦀 New Moon in Cancer at 28° ♋
Collective Energy: this is a time where perspective is essential when it comes through clarity, & this may be a quest for some of you to gain some clarity in the sense of yourself, or those around you. For some, this may be a call to taking action in the form of spending more time with family, or needing to focus more on a stable family structure/unit. For others, this is a need to study generational patterns that must be broken from within your family. There has been enough progress, or there could be, even with situations where you're being attacked at all sides, or where your hands are tied from taking any action. To what hasn't worked for someone in the past, have been more than likely inherited by experience, & someone is beginning to understand this. Old conditioning that used to trap & cripple us is starting to be recognized, & it is easy to be succeptable to the blinders of the reality regarding your situation. You have the choice free yourself from this energy or to stay entranced in the lifting veils. It may feel like a challenging time to face & conquer, & for some this can be the need to find perfection in solitude, & not to interpret it as loneliness. If you feel the universe is wanting you to (or not) spend time with certain people, then to take this opportunity into consideration; in particular, that a strong, permanent relationship that does not evolve in accordance with one's mental, spiritual, & physical growth, & if it happens to be a 'challenging' individual, in any context that needs to be addressed, it may be better to create distance. Don't allow 'the beast' to obtain you, in whatever circumstances this applies, & communicating this, or the act of acceptance will bring the outcome of that is most favored.

🔮Pick-a-Crystal for this New Moon
1️⃣. Diamond. Shine your brightest.

It may be easy to denounce any self inflicted penalties at this time as you're being prompted to establish a stable outcome for what has caused the need to hide out, or to go into seclusion. Going along simply trying to avoid the situation will only contribute in prolonging it, & this could be due to the fear of facing one's own demons. The truth cannot be hidden or detained, so the act of freeing oneself, or others, of destructive impulses needs to be taken seriously & with more discipline. Under all the pressure that may be coming with this will create a strong external form made from tough circumstances (kind of like a diamond). The answers you may be needing regarding tricky people are coming, but there is a need into tend to what is causing some form of stagnation in your life, which can also aid in your confirmation. Destruction of these negative cycles will bring brighter days, as well as clarity. Once putting these new principles into practice, your dominion & your achievements will increase. There has been those who have been dealing with dishonest or karmic cycles that has needed bravery & confidence to overcome.
2️⃣. Ametrine. Make your big dreams your big life.

There may be an instability in one's planning or thinking in regards to their commitment, for it may be getting tested in question of the growth that is being halted or stagnated by one's own self destructive behaviors or the desire to undermine others. Someone may be feeling a lot more mental strain when it comes to bringing about balance, but the end of a cycle can happen once there is the ability to let go of what has been needed for a transformation or major change, & allowing the correct diagnosis to be perpetuated. It is important to take note if there are situations where change can't happen if the growth isn't instilled. This may be a matter of establishing boundaries for those who constantly bring you trouble, or realizing that codependency can be what is creating a block for you, whether you or someone around you is being codependent. There is a need to release from codependent patterns in a healthy way & allowing yourself to move forward with a focused attitude is the goal. Someone may need to face some conflict head on, & it may have been a long time coming to completion.
3️⃣. Bismuth. Rewrite your code. With rainbows.

There is either hope needed, or needing to be worked on, when ot comes to working through one's fears, & openness to lifelong learning is someone's best bet at this time. As cycles end, there is a fast pace for the next new beginning, & there needs to be more of an intuitive approach to what has been resisting the change that has had someone waiting for some time now. There may be some discouragement or hopelessness coming from this group, where it will bring forth the need to embrace all wisdom that has become available to you. You may need to reevaluate what is safe & how to establish the protection needed from situations that are only going to bring about conflict or challenge. It may be hard to be open to certain things with the fear of failing, losing out, or even becoming succeptable to manipulation. There is an energy of being held back from putting their trust into the universe, let alone into oneself, & there is a trust that has to be built, even if the external forces or luck seems to be working against you, there is an inevitable outcome that cannot be delayed much longer, for it is liable to blow up before you even have the chance to tackle it.
*this reading is intended for entertainment purposes only, energy is fluid not linear, roles are interchangeable, this can either be happening to you directly, or someone your connecting with (family, friends, etc.) take what resonates, leave the rest*

#COVID19
I’ve been trying to put into words for a little bit now how I feel about being a frontline healthcare worker during this whole COVID-19 crisis. My feelings on the matter are mixed, but there are a few points I’d really like to make to drive home regarding what it is that, at least I, am facing everyday. Let me preface this by saying that I am a newly hired paramedic working for two really busy metropolitan services. In a 12 hour shift, I average 7-9 calls during ‘normal’ times. Often times, I work OT, pushing my shifts to 13-14 hours daily. Every call I wonder what I’m going to be going into. Sometimes it’s a nice old lady who just needs a check up for her blood pressure; other times I’m running head first into a multiple gunshot, multiple patient scenario and people’s lives are immediately affected by the care I render. Now we have this looming fear of #COVID19. I want to impress upon you that COVID19, while new, is not unlike other diseases that we, as healthcare workers, already need to be cautious of. We have patients with MRSA, VRE, C Diff, tuberculosis, pneumonia, HIV, etc, all of which are communicable that we need to wear appropriate protection for. What’s scary about COVID19 is not the fact that it’s a disease, but the fact that it’s a disease that we know very little about. It presents in so many different ways and we are still trying so hard to understand how the disease is transmitted and how it affects us. It’s our inability to know if we are prepared or not that scares me. Our protocols update so often regarding our protection and how we run our calls. The minimum PPE changes all the time. The availability of stock, what we wear, how we wear it, when we wear, and how we reverse isolate our patients changes all the time. We change our course of treatment - asthmatics now get IM epinephrine only, be cautious when you ventilate someone, don’t suction someone unless you’re wearing the appropriate PPE, what’s the appropriate PPE? All of this is stuff that is constantly evolving in the course of our care, day-to-day, and sometimes hour to hour. I’m scared for my family. I’m scared that I might bring COVID19 home to the people I love. I’m scared because I may not have donned the right PPE, or that someone may have lied to me during the screening process, or I forgot to wash my hands while doffing. I’m scared because I may be asymptomatic and bring it home to my mom, my brother, or my girlfriend. I’m scared of passing it along to the little old lady at the grocery store, or to the barista who’s trying to manage her student loans during this ‘unprecedented’ crisis. I’m frustrated. “Essential workers” are being heralded as ‘heroes.’ People are donating food and PPE, they’re buying us coffee, they’re standing in the streets and applauding us and standing on their balconies clanging their pots and pans in appreciation. In one breath, they thank us, and in the next, they tell us they don’t care. People tell us they don’t care by going out and getting their coffees, or by going to the beach to sun bath, or spread blankets in parks and have beers with their friends. We ‘heroes’ are asking you to do one thing. STAY. HOME. Don’t martyr us to make yourselves feel better about having a beer in a park. Your thank yous are empty because your actions show that you don’t appreciate the work that we are doing to keep you safe. I’m frustrated because what we are doing hasn’t changed. We have always responded to the dangerous unknowns. We have always taken care of other people. We will hold your grandmother’s hand while she dies. We will try desperately to save your little brother as he clings desperately to life just for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. We will work tirelessly to make sure you have a second chance after making a poor decision that we know you immediately regretted. That’s what we do. But it’s taken a global pandemic to realize just how thin we are being stretched and how unappreciated we are. I’m sad because this pandemic has started to expose people for what they are. Selfish. Short-sighted. Uncaring. People would rather go to the park, get laid, get a coffee, drink a beer, send their kids to school, visit their friends, and party than stay home. I understand. It’s frustrating staying inside all day. I don’t enjoy bouncing between work and home. I can’t go out. I can’t vent my frustrations about my day by doing the things I would normally do. I would love nothing more than to go to the gym, roll on the BJJ mats, or rock climb again. I would love to sit at a coffee shop with my girlfriend and just hold hands and talk about whatever dumb shit we think about. But I can’t. Because this disease is new and it’s dangerous. Because, while it may not kill me, it could kill someone I love. It could kill the very people that I go into work every day to try and save. So please, stay home. Wear a mask. Listen to what the experts are saying. Because this disease is very real. In the last month, I have fought my hardest and lost 24 people to COVID19. I have had to look spouses, children, parents, and friends in the eye and tell them that their loved one is dead or might die. And that’s just me. My brothers and sisters in healthcare and first response see hundreds everyday. And you can’t be bothered to try and home school your kids or sit home and watch Netflix. Stay. Home.

Okay, every time I try to answer this ask it just... disappears so uh... here we go again.
I’m glad you appreciated this post, it was written out of frustration at hearing so many people claim words made for intersex people were actually made for nonbinary people.
As for your question, it’s a very complicated subject. Judaism historically was a very sex-segregated society, so knowing how to fit intersex people into that was imperative. One of the biggest reasons being intersex is so wildly different from being trans/nonbinary is that (assuming you’re actually told the correct sex at birth) you are brought up constantly knowing that you don’t fit into the sex binary. Even a baby is singled out as being intersex, in a way that doesn’t happen to trans/nonbinary people. So for ancient Jews raising children and trying to figure out which of the sex-specific laws they should be teaching their intersex children, it was important to make that kind of sex distinction.
For binary trans and cis people, it’s pretty easy to just... use the words for “male” or “female”. For nonbinary people, it’s understandably harder. There are, of course, the “im” (ים)and “ot” (וֹת) suffixes in hebrew, and the corresponding pronouns/words/etc. “Ot” being the feminine plural, and “im” being the masculine or gender-ambiguous plural. Many nonbinary Jews I know use “im” and other gender-ambiguous words in Hebrew to refer to themselves. In fact, God’s name “Elohim” uses the gender-ambiguous plural suffix. Which makes sense because what use does God have for a gender? Anyway, God’s nonbinary and you can quote me on that.
But in terms of ancient Judaism? There’s not much for trans and nonbinary people. Which is an unfortunate product of a changing and broadening understanding of sex and gender. We shouldn’t be trying to shoehorn representation into history where it wasn’t. We shouldn’t pretend the ancient rabbis were nonbinary inclusive when they didn’t have our modern understanding of nonbinary. History is more inclusive and less inclusive than we realise in many ways, because of changing language and also perceptions. A nonbinary person in a time where men and women were fully segregated would have a very different experience and idea of what it means to be included than a nonbinary person today. Instead of fooling ourselves about the past, we should just acknowledge that some parts of old Judaism don’t work for our current understanding of the world. We should acknowledge the faults and flaws, and fix them. That’s what Judaism is about.
And nonbinary people absolutely deserve to make a place for themselves in our religion and culture. But not at the expense of intersex people. Not by stealing of intersex terms and history. Instead, I think the most Jewish thing a nonbinary person can do is make new terms and rituals and meaning within Judaism. Because Judaism is all about questioning and changing and evolving. And nonbinary people absolutely can make a place for themselves without harming intersex people, they just have to make that choice.
The unfortunate reality is that the trans/nonbinary community have unbelievable issues with intersexism (I made a whole post about it here). No more than cis people, of course. But it’s still a problem. And in Judaism this is no less of an issue. Which means that nonbinary people should be extra careful about stealing history and labels from intersex people. So I would say no, there isn’t a way to really claim there’s a halachic word appropriate for use by perisex nonbinary people. But that doesn’t mean perisex nonbinary Jews can’t make their own words and labels for themselves.

Biscuit’s Favorite Games
When it comes to a great game, there are a few factors at play. “Is the gameplay good? Is the story great? What cool memories do you have associated with the game? Did the game leave an everlasting impression?” All of these I feel are what help create a favorite game for a person.
Now normally people would countdown to their number one game and although I do have a number one game. There are many other games I enjoy as well and have left impressions on me that I carry with me to this day.
With that I’m not going to do a “traditional” countdown, but rather give my favorites before going to my all-time favorite (which for some of you shouldn’t be a surprise because I’ve gone on record with it a few times already). With that, let’s go over some of my personal favorite games.

Halo: Reach
I love the Halo series. I love the setting, I love the idea of you being a badass super soldier, and I love the soundtrack. I have more memories with the Halo series playing online with my friends and Halo: Reach for me has the best memories.
We would often get large groups going into big team matches and when we couldn’t get a large group we would go into the small team games and have tons of fun with either matchmaking or custom matches. There are many times we would stay up until 5 or 6 a.m playing Reach. Reach also spawned off quite a few inside memes with my friends, memes that we still quote to this day. With Microsoft’s recent announcement of Halo: Reach being re-released on PC, we’re looking forward to remembering the good times as we exchange teabags with a new generation of Spartans.
But aside from multiplayer, Reach also had in my opinion the best campaign. It was emotional, it had some amazing epic set pieces, it was challenging, and most importantly Noble 6 was your Spartan model from multiplayer which gave a more personal attachment to the story.

Pokemon Silver/Gold/Crystal
I was on the ground floor of the Pokemon Hype in the 90s. When the follow-up to the amazing Blue/Red/Yellow came out, many of use were ready to embark on a new Pokemon adventure in a new region eager to catch the new Pokemon.
It made great improvements from the original game, adding additional Pokemon types, a story with Team Rocket trying to make a comeback, and the biggest surprise of them all, going back to Kanto and fighting the Kanto Pokemon Gym Leaders. This made the world of Pokemon feel much larger and connected. Ever since then, it’s been a highly requested feature to have a previous region in another version revisited or ot have a nice dense post game. Although, revisiting regions has yet to happen since Silver/Gold/Crystal, each Pokemon game has been released with a good sizeable post game adventure to embark on.
The remakes HeartGold and Soul Silver are just as fantastic.

Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening
There are games that we complete at 100%, then there are games we complete until there’s nothing left. Devil May Cry 3 was the first game that I ripped apart inside and out in terms of content. I completed every single difficulty as both Dante and Vergil, acquired every skill, every alternative costume, and every challenge.
I did it because I had a lot of fun with the game’s combat and it was also my first Devil May Cry game. How I got the game was interesting as well. A friend of mine had Devil May Cry 3 and a relative of theirs gifted them another copy of the game for their birthday unbeknownst to them that my friend had the game already. They asked if I wanted their extra copy and that’s how I got into the Devil May Cry series. One day Devil May Cry 5, one day.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
The Metal Gear Solid series is one of my favorite game series of all-time. The first entry of the series for the PS1 taught me so many things. In fact, the original Metal Gear Solid also greatly influenced my playstyle, which is emphasis on stealth.
Metal Gear Solid 3 was a great game that challenges your stealth skills. Not only did you have no radar, but you had to be more aware of your surroundings. Not only could you encounter guards, but you could potentially encounter wildlife in the jungle that could and will also harm you. You would also have to eat to keep your stamina up, wear the proper camouflage for the environment for optimal stealth, and you would have to heal injuries through various methods. All of these considerations added a new challenge to the stealth game to where the systems served as an extra layer rather than an annoying chore to keep up with.

Mega Man X4
This game was actually my first exposure to the Mega Man X series. I was already familiar with the classic series and I was eager to play this particular game and learning what the deal with having the X in the title was. It was then I learned that you could play as two different characters, the ever familiar blue bomber, which my 8 year old thought, “Ok, that must be a new model of Mega Man.” However, Zero was what immediately caught my eye, a robot using a lightsaber (which I would later learn it was called Z Saber) as an attack, sign me up!
The gameplay was super fun and there are slight differences in the story depending on who you play as. Granted it’s clear that this entry was catered for Zero rather than X, it’s still a really fun game no matter which character you picked. Similar to its predecessors, the game has also aged really well graphically.

Skies of Arcadia
To me, this is the perfect summer adventure in gaming. You’re a Robin Hood-esque air pirate who comes across a woman from a thought to be lost civilization. This was a turn based RPG where you had use the correct element on your weapon to effectively fight in battles. Not only that but there was also ship battles where you can engage in fighting other Airships.
It’s also a game that I feel constantly gets forgotten by Sega whenever they do Dreamcast collection releases. Skies of Arcadia is great and is one of the few games that I will 100% buy whenever it finally gets the HD remaster that it deserves.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
As far as the Legend of Zelda series goes I love every entry. There are a couple that I don’t like as much, but they still have qualities about them that I find enjoyable. Although Link to the Past was the first Zelda game I played, Ocarina of Time was the first one I would ever own and complete to 100%. At the time of its release it was a open area for you to explore with tackling temples and finding secrets. It also had a neat time travel mechanic with the story having some areas that would have effects on the future.

Telltale’s The Walking Dead Season One
This is a title that revived the the point and click adventure as well as popularize the episodic format. I got into this game during my Walking Dead craze and this game touched me in an unexpectedly emotional way. So much so I got teary eyed on the season finale and if a game manages to invoke such an emotional response within you, you know it did something right. I got attached to Lee and Clementine and the writing for the season was superb. Choices were respected and although there were many events that still happened no matter the choice, it was more reflected in the dialogue and for what Telltale was trying to accomplish, I thought it worked well.

Borderlands 2
Everyone that loves Borderlands 2, loves Handsome Jack and he’s an amazing video game villain. However, I do have a personal connection that cemented this as a favorite. This is a game that my wife and I would completely co-op with no handicap of any kind. What do I mean by a handicap. When it comes to playing co-op games on PC I am hopeless with a mouse and keyboard, where as my wife is completely running the show. Similar to consoles, my wife is hopeless with a controller and I’m taking point.
I used to not be much of a PC gamer. When I got a Windows 10 laptop my wife and I decided to get Borderlands 2 as Windows 10 allowed you to plug in a Xbox One controller without having to download any additional programs or anything. My wife was mouse and keyboard on her PC, and I was plugged in with a controller on my laptop and it changed everything. We no longer had to babysit one another, we could go into a camp of enemies and come out with barely a scratch on either of us. We even got to better understand one another’s playstyle and it complimented each other very well for an amazing co-op experience. Now I have evolved more into a PC gamer and have started playing so more co-op games with my wife.

The Witcher III: Wild Hunt
This is a game that I’ve been replaying and going back through since I played it in 2016. The detail of how character dialogue reacts to your decisions is just amazing. Also the way you go about fighting monsters is amazing as well. You have to study them, research them in your bestiary, drink the appropriate potions, apply the proper blade oil, use the propers signs and bombs in the fight. It gives you the sense that you are preparing for a fight.
CD Projekt Red used a branching story writing program called Articy Draft. It’s a program I myself actually use in my day job. I’m constantly going back to this game and studying it to try to imagine how the writers wrote certain decision points and how it branched out within Articy. Making different decisions and doing quests in a different order are just some of the things I do to further study this game in how they approach it in dialogue with Articy.

All Time Favorite - Final Fantasy X
As I mentioned in a few of my posts Final Fantasy X is my favorite game. I love everything about this game: the story, the setting, the characters, the combat system, the sphere grid progression system and the soundtrack. The way that Square had the player go through the world and learn more about it was genius and allowed for a deeper connection between Tidus and the player. There have been other games that have done this method of relaying plot information to the player, but to me Final Fantasy X was the one that got it right.
One day I will review this game, but I have no plans to review it for a good long time.
Those are my favorite games! I’d love to hear some of your favorites as well!

A Reylo Parallel and Other Musings

So, something just struck me. There are things about Kylo and Rey that either mirror each other or contrast with each other
.
At the beginning of the film, when Rey finds Luke and tells him that she’s looking for someone who can show her her place in wider scheme of things. She’s spent her entire life on her own and then she discovers that she has all these powers. She’s lost. She doesn’t know what to do with her gifts. She thinks that Luke can teach her and help her figure out her place.
Then you have Kylo/Ben. He’s convinced that he chose the right side. He’s committed to the Dark side of the force and sure that his teacher, Snoke is grooming him to be a powerful user of the Force. He might be conflicted and feel the pull of the Light, but he thinks that his place is with the Dark side.
By the end of the film, they both face a bit of a rude awakening. Rey finds out that Luke is not the legend she believed him to be. He’s not interested in teaching her. Add to that, he’s not completely honest with her when he talks about how Kylo attacked him and his students. Kylo, on the other hand, learns that Snoke was just manipulating him. Using him, just as his father warned him in TFA.
By the end of the film, their positions are reversed. Rey chooses the Light side and goes to the Resistance to help save them. Kylo is left behind, having killed his master, he thinks that he can now take over the First Order and be the Supreme Leader. He think he’s found his place but finds that it offers him no peace. This is reflected in their final scene together. Rey on the Falcon, looking sure and confident. And Kylo on his knees with his father’s dice in his hands, looking defeated. I think that’s the moment that it dawns on him that he made a mistake and he may have chosen the wrong path.
At their core, they’re both looking for the same thing, a sense of belonging. And I think they felt that through the Force Bond with each other. It’s why they gradually grew closer, let their guard down when they were together. They’re two people who grew disillusioned with the people that they looked up to, Kylo with Snoke and Rey with Luke. Rey, at least, having the Light side, is better off because she’s not constantly struggling against her own nature, the way Kylo is. He feels the pull of the light and he fights it and I believe that the pull has only gotten stronger. He’s in a constant state of turmoil.
I don’t think this Star Wars is about absolutes. A Force user who’s pure Light or one who’s pure Dark. Those were the ways of the Jedi and Sith. And as Luke and Yoda told us, the Jedi are dead. That’s not how the new generation of Force users will evolve. The lesson is that there is Dark and Light in all of us. Just as there is Light in Kylo, there is Dark in Rey. Just look at her face when she’s fighting the Praetorian Guards, and compare that to Obi Wan fighting, there is a look of calm on his face, while her face displays rage. She’s not channeling the Light in her during that fight. During TFA, Snoke tells Kylo that he feels compassion for the girl. Anakin defined compassion as unconditional love. The use of the word ‘compassion’ is not accidental.
Right now, both Kylo and Rey are thinking in terms of absolutes. Rey seeks to reject the Dark parts of her while Kylo wants to purge the Light parts of him. Neither will know true peace till they accept all of themselves. And in accepting those parts of themselves, they will grow to accept each other for who they are, without one trying to turn the other.
In my opinion, this new trilogy can’t end without a redemption arc for Kylo/Ben. It would have been too soon for it to happen in TLJ. For someone who has spent so many years under Snoke, working for the Dark side, it would not have been realistic to suddenly renounce everything he believed in. I think TLJ was laying the groundwork for his redemption and we will ultimately see that in episode 9. The cracks are already there and add Rey to that mix and it’s only a matter of time.
In order for true harmony and balance, Rey and Kylo/Ben must come together. They are the ones who are going to establish balance. In the PT, Qui-Gon thought that Anakin would bring balance to the Force and in the OT, Obi-Wan thought it would be Luke. They were both wrong, even Kylo, on his own can’t bring balance. But with Rey, they create true harmony where the Dark and Light are balanced. They need each other. There are too many parallels, too many things linking them for all of it to be one big coincidence.
In TFA, Kylo tells Vader’s mask that he will finish what he started, and I think he will, it just won’t be what he thought at the time. Anakin wanted to bring balance to the Force before he got seduced to the dark side, Kylo will bring that balance with Rey by his side. Two people who understand each other like no one else in the galaxy.
P.S. - I know that Poe and Rey only said hi in TLJ but I will mad as hell if they suddenly develop feelings for each other. I hope JJ Abrams doesn’t do that.. Any thoughts fellow reylo fans?

Dead End Kids: The Suburban Job #3

Dead End Kids: The Suburban Job #3 Source Point Press 2021 Written by Frank Gogol Illustrated by Nenad Cviticanin Lettered by Sean Rinehart Three teens. One job. No hope. After the disturbing events of the last issue, Ray-Ray and his goons are closing in on the kids. Now, they need to get rid of the money... and fast. Torie has a plan. A really bad plan. Witness a heist unlike any other as the follow-up to 2019's indie hit barrels toward its final bloody chapter. I like these arcs from Frank as they demonstrate the bonds of friendship. While it’s true that friends grow apart there are some experiences that when shared will bond you for life and even if it’s too painful to see one another you still do because they are the only ones who can understand how you feel and who you are now. This is what Frank has created here with these kids, no matter where they go from here and what they do they will forever be family and there’s nothing like finding the mishpucha you’ve made compared to the one you’re born into. I am honestly impressed with the way Frank is able to do this with these characters and its why we came back this time and hopefully we’ll come back again. I like how this is being told. The story & plot development that we see through how the sequence of events unfold as well as how the reader learns information is presented in such a way that it constantly moves everything forward. Also the fact that we see the thought process behind what the kids do makes believing them and in them all that much easier. The character development never slows down for an instant. How we see the dialogue alongside how they act and react to the situations and circumstances they encounter continually help them grow and evolve as people. The pacing is superb and as it takes us through the pages revealing more and more of the story that by the end we’re left with that overwhelming desire to know what’s next. How we see this being structured and how the layers within the story continue to grow and change is some really remarkable bit of storytelling. Each of them has this little piece of them that helps them be strong and to see that reminds us all of what us strong. The way that everything works together to create the story’s ebb & flow is delightful to see. The interiors here are really nice to see. The linework is fantastic and how we see the varying weights being utilised to create some really fine attention to detail is superb. That we see backgrounds being utilised as we do not only expands and enhances the moments but it provides us with depth perception, a sense of scale and that overall sense of size and scope to the story. The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels show a very talented eye for storytelling. The colour work is phenomenal! How we see the various hues and tones within the colours being utilised ot create the shading highlights and shadow work is exceptionally well rendered. That we see colour being utilised to create definition and even musculature, in the dogs at least, and those shrubbery is out of this world in how we see the application. Source Point Press is one of my favourite publishing houses because of the diversity of what they offer and the quality of storytelling they bring to readers. What Frank and Nenad do here is extraordinary and it’s as engaging as it is entertaining to say the least. Friends are friends forever when they’ve bonded like this and I look forward to seeing how ht is concludes next issue.
