Shannon bounced a bit with each step as she strode through the doors of Cat's Cradle, staff twirling in her hand. The mission had been a success, people saved and demons vanquished in the sweep of an arm. They'd thought it would've been harder, so much so that she'd even been sent with Mary and Lilith. Plus, their five day mission was completed in just under two.
But that wasn't what made Shannon's heart beat strong and proud. Beatrice had lead her first mission while they were gone, and they'd made it back just in time for the post-mission debrief.
Her little sister was all grown up and she was so, so, so proud of who she'd become, blooming from the guilty anxious child who had walked through those doors the very first day they'd met.
Shannon pushed through the doors to the debrief room, a unconcealable grin splitting her face. The sisters gathered around sent her polite smiles, before settling back into their seats and resuming their conversations. Her smile quickly fell as she scanned the room, worry snaking her way into her gut at the extra empty chair. "Where's Beatrice?"
"We're just waiting on her," one of the sisters supplied amongst the chittering, "But before she arrives, we must all say she did a wonderful job leading. It was as if we hadn't been ambushed at all -- Sister Beatrice simply commanded as usual, disappeared for a second, and then the threats were neutralized."
Worry mixed with pride struck even deeper in Shannon's trunk. Beatrice was never late. Ever. "Has anyone seen Sister Beatrice since?"
"She stumbled a bit getting back after the ambush, but excused herself to change," one of the other sisters offered. Shannon was off like a rocket.
Beatrice was never late. Something was screaming in Shannon's head that something was wrong. Feet pounding against the stones. They carried her all the way to Bea's room, almost secluded at the end of the hall. The soft glow of the desk lamp shone through the open doorway, giving a false sense of comfort. Empty.
A photo of their little crew had fallen on the ground, red fingerprints brushed over the image. Her heart shot into her throat. Frantically searching for a trail, eyes catching a smear of red against one of the wall's stones. Shannon hit it with all her might, willing the ancient mechanics to work faster.
Shannon herself had shown Bea this secret corridor, a convenient way to sneak back from the infirmary after hours at another sister's bedside past curfew. Almost everyone knew that the four were inseparable, but that didn't mean that curfew didn't technically apply.
But now, Shannon ran without abandon, secrecy be damned. With each step, the faint tinge of iron in the air grew stronger. In the dark, the red was like a beacon. Heartbeat pounding in her ears, Shannon willed her legs to move faster. Something was wrong.
"Bea?!" she called, eyes prying in the black of their shared secret. "Bea!?"
She almost missed the form, sprawled face down on the stones, groaning a weak, "Shan?"
"Fuck." She scooped her baby sister into her shaky arms, watching as her head started to loll. Warm crimson dripped down her side and Shan had to suppress a grimace, whisking her down the hall.
Beatrice was already going lax in her arms. "Did I- Did I do good?" she slurred, half open eyes as her lifeblood drained out of her.
"So good, Bea, so good," Shannon promised, praising the light as they burst through the other end of the hall and into the infirmary. "Hold on Bea," she begged, as the nurses began to swarm. "I havent even told you all the things I'm proud of you for yet."

Izuku! Are you a fan of Toy Story movies? If you are, who are your favorite characters and why?
Hi! I do like Toy Story! I always liked Rex, he was really funny! The last one made me cry (I say, as if I didn’t cry after all the other ones too).

I love the "came back wrong" trope but from the opposite side.
Imagine you are dead. And then you are RIPPED from the embrace of decay into the world of the living again. Your memories are hazy and you don't recognize any of these people, but they act like they're close to you? Like they love you? So you try to get your memories back, to act like you belong here, but everybody tries to forget you died. And you can't. It is omnipresent. And just trying to grapple with that fact pushes the people who "love" you away, and they're incapable of understanding, and they're so confused, what's wrong N̶̄̀O̶͛͗T̷̉́ ̷͋͝Y̴̎̌Ȍ̴̈U̸̓R NÄM̴̃͑E̵̾̇? And you just need them to understand, you aren't that person! You aren't! You don't know who that person is! You don't know why any of this is happening, but they're unwilling to bend, they keep insisting you are that person, your memories will come back, everything will be normal again, and you want to scream and cry and claw yourself open to show them you're different. Your existence as a being wholly separate from whoever you "used to be" is a sin unto itself. All you can do is scrabble for life and to them, you're killing whoever they loved to do it.
just. lots of fun in that concept, you know?
