Oct 21st: Day 1 - Colours

We made sure to include a few vaguer prompts for a wider range of creative ideas!! Colours could really be anything: Niko while she's possessed by the sprites, a different character having a run-in with a similarly colourful creature, or even something that just uses colour connotations or symbolism!! Get creative!

Oct 22nd: Day 2 - Comfort

One of the non-spooky prompts for day 2. It could be the boys comforting each other after a particularly difficult case, or a character study about something they find comfort in, or even just characters having a well-deserved day off from the Horrors

Oct 23rd: Day 3 - Disguise

The obvious one here would be Charles and Edwin's human disguises, but there's so much to play with. Works could perhaps feature the group going undercover on a case, or maybe the Cat King causing mischief again with his shapeshifting

Oct 24th: Day 4 - Orbs

Okay, you just know we had to put this one in there, everyone needs more Orbwin and Chorb content in their life right? What are our favourite glowing balls of light up to now? Why are they orb-ed? Is it a willing transformation or a result of exhaustion?

Oct 25th: Day 5 - Family

Family can mean a lot of things. Blood family? Could be an introspection into Charles's family back when he was alive, or Crystal trying to reconcile with her parents, Niko's grief, Monty's relationship with Esther... Or could be found family: the group choosing one another over everyone else, forming their own bonds more important than blood. Works can encompass many different character dynamics so go crazy!

Oct 26th: Day 6 - Casefic

The group are on a case!! Works could be a retelling of one of the show cases, or maybe one from the comics, or an entirely original one. It could be a simple run-of the-mill haunting or perhaps one that runs deeper, one that affects one or more members of the agency in some way

Oct 27th: Day 7 - The Endless

In the show we meet Death and Despair, but this prompt could feature one of the Dead Boy Detectives characters meeting one or more of the Siblings. Maybe they visit the Dreaming, or have a run in with Desire

Oct 28th: Day 8 - Free Day

No prompt for this day!! Works can be anything you like, unconnected to any of the suggested themes!!

Oct 29th: Day 9 - Myths / Legends

Charles referenced Orpheus and Eurydice in episode 7 but there's so much to work with with mythology from all over the world. These works could be a retelling of a story from an ancient mythology, or imagining the characters meeting a creature from a legend

Oct 30th: Day 10 - Hell

Really getting into the Horrors of the event now. Hell is such an important part of the series, especially for Edwin. These works must simply incorporate Hell in some way. Perhaps it's set during Edwin's 73 years in Hell, or maybe another character has an experience in the place, or with one of its many creatures. Really looking forward to seeing the potential body horror with this one

Oct 31st: Day 11 - Halloween

Day 11 is the main event. For such a spooky show, there's got to be a lot of Halloween inspiration. What do ghosts even do on Halloween? Do they dress up? Party? Haunt the living? It's entirely up to you!

Nov 1st: Day 12 - Psychic

These works must involve something psychic. Whether it be Crystal and her powers, another person with similar abilities, or any other creature that really gets in the head of the characters

Nov 2nd: Day 13 - Pre-Canon

There's so much to work with before the 2023 setting of the show. Over 30 years of the Dead Boy Detective Agency, the ghosts' lives, Edwin's Hell. Even for other characters: what happened during the Cat King's first two lives? What has Esther been up to for the last several hundred years? What's the Night Nurse's job like when she hasn't got two tricky ghost detectives to deal with?

Nov 3rd: Day 14 - AU

The only rule is: put those characters somewhere else. It could be a different time period, or characters could be different in some way. What if the Alive Girls were the Dead Girls? Or Charles and Edwin were Charlie and Edith? So excited to see everyone's ideas for every prompt, but especially this one, this fandom is so creative when it comes to AUs!!

(Oct 27) Day 1: what if we were extras and we kissed?

Starting off this event, we have non-main cast ships! These ships include the characters that we barely knew. Small role? Big ship! Do they even have names? Who cares, they're literally holding hands!

(Oct 28) Day 2: passing the bechdel test

Day two is your haven for sapphic ships! Canon girls, trans girls, genderbent girls, big girls, small girls, girls that aren't girls? Yes to all of them!

(Oct 29) Day 3: ... and they were roommates

Day three is focused on alternative universes, canon divergences, and what ifs. Get creative!

(Oct 30) Day 4: that doesn't seem physically possible

Day four is for ships who've never met. Canon? What canon? These two were probably never on the same planet, but they are in love.

(Oct 31) Day 5: monster mash

Day five is all about Halloween and general spooky vibes. Costumes, candy, ghosts, and monsters! Get down with the ooky spooky with your favorite rarepairs!

(Nov 1) Day 6: the more the merrier

Day six is for polyam ships. That character has two hands and the characters holding their hands also have two hands! This days theme is the only exception for "banned" ships. If your polyam ship involves a popular ship, then you can post it today!

HAUNTED HOUSE 👻 ( OCT. 16 - OCT. 23 )

it appears you’ve been separated from your peers the second you enter the house of the wicked, green hands breaking through the wooden tiles - reaching for your ankles as a form of sabotage. you will be placed into groups in order to collaborate on content that represents your organization’s (ex. house of the hearth, stellaron hunters, ten stonehearts, etc.) experience inside of a haunted house.

do not spoil any part of your writing/art with any other groups.

if by chance there is an artist in an all writers group - the artist is tasked to create a non-colored sketch based on the 400 wc (or more) drabble.

if the group is all writers, the wc limit of your fic will be extended to 800. you can exceed this limit if you wish to.

if your group is all artists, you’re all required to collaborate on a colored art piece (does not require complicated detailing / background due to the timeframe + does not have to include every member of the organization your group is assigned, just 1!) as long as it sticks with the theme. you are not required to post these.

MURDER MYSTERY 🐺 ( OCT. 25 - 31 )

the finish stretch … you have entered a game of Werewolves which includes: a medic who can save the other players, the Werewolves who can kill the players, and the rest are bystanders who have to try and figure out who the Werewolves are. when ‘night’ falls, the players then all close their eyes and the Hostess asks the Werewolves who they want to kill. then, the doctor is asked who they want to save. the players all open their eyes as ‘day’ breaks, and the Hostess announces whether someone died that night. If the Werewolves kills the same person as the doctor saved, they live, otherwise they die. the players then discuss who they think the Werewolves are and vote to lynch someone. It then repeats until the Werewolves are the only ones left, or are killed.

you are NOT allowed to expose your role, werewolves can pretend to be citizens and even vice versa to throw bystanders off.

the number of rounds played will extend until the date reaches October 31st.

⩨͢ Halloween Event!

Duration: 24th Oct. - 4th Nov.

I LOVE autumn and Halloween, and to add to my already massive workload, I’ve decided to bring back last years Halloween event! Below are some autumn/Halloween themed prompts. Under the title there is a short description (?) That doesn't really make sense but pretend it does. You can send as many requests as you like, but each request has a max of 2 characters. If you ask for 2 characters the scenario will be shorter than if you ask for just 1.

Examples:

1) pumpkin carving!!

~ carving pumpkins with your s/o! Will you go to a pumpkin patch, or buy from the store?

~ going to an apple orchard and picking apples with your s/o!What are you going to do with all the apples? Bake them into a pie? Or maybe for some apple bobbing?

3) baking Halloween treats

~ baking with your s/o!! Who are you baking the treats for? Will it burn, or be perfectly golden?

~ It's October, so it's time for some spooky decor!!! Will your s/o be a stubborn perfectionist, or completly chaotic?

5) Scary movies!!

~ is your s/o able to handle a few horror movies? Or, are YOU able to handle them?

6) autumn walks!!

~ walking along a tree lined street, with the crisp golden autumn leaves dancing around your heads. Where will you and your s/o go? Who will you meet?

7) reading together!

~ sitting beneath a tree, both of you reading in comfortable silence. Is your so quiet, or trying to distract you? Will you get your book finished or end up distracted?

8) meeting trick or treaters!!

~ domestic fluff!! You and your s/o are getting ready for the arrival of trick or treaters!

9) Costumes!!

~ what is your so dressing up as? Matching costumes? Or do they not even want to dress up??

10) Bonfires!!

~ going to a bonfire with your s/o? Perfect! A cosy way to spend the night . Are you with friends, family or just the two of you?

11) Fireworks!!

~ You and your s/o going to see the fireworks light up the night sky. The colourful bursts contrasting against the dark sky is perfect for a late night picnic

12) Visiting a haunted house / amusement park

~ will your s/o get scared, or will they put on a brave face? Find out in the house of horrors!

13) Going to see the fnaf movie !!

~ self explanatory…

14) Ghost Hunting!!

~ Will you and your s/o catch some paranormal activity? Will it spook you, or make you laugh? Will your s/o faint at the sight of a ghost, or will they stay strong?

The only changes to last years one is the fandom list is considerably reduced, and there are two new prompts. Same rules as for a normal request applies!

Celebrating Halloween <<<< Making Halloween themed Fanart.

I love how we got a second batch of Halloween outfits this year, and I simply adore them! Lucifer looks so cute as Vampire…! My MC goes as a witch this year, and the outfit is basically F!Corrin’s Harvest Festival Costume from Fire Emblem Heroes. (Of course, the OG Witch Design is from FE Fates hehe…). You know….since my MC is also my Fatesona and all hohoh…Also for a strange reason, the other demons were transformed into tiny ghosts! (°ロ°) !

It’s still a little early for Halloween, but Oct. 31st is Diavolo’s Birthday, and I’ve got something up my sleeve.

Day four of halloweek Oct 27: Masochist - ghostface!bucky x Korean!reader

Warnings: ghostface typa shit from Bucky. Also his dialogue is all famous ghostface quotes so I can’t take credit for those nuggets of geniusness.

“You should never say 'Who's There?’ when you answer the phone. Don’t you watch scary movies? It’s a death wish.”

I scoff into the phone, “excuse me? Isn’t that how you, I don’t know, figure out who’s calling you?”

The voice on the other end lets out a breathy laugh as I crane my head to look around the empty house. There’s no one but me here. I know that for a fact but something is making the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

“You might as well just come out here to investigate if you’re so curious.”

Come out here?

What the fuck does that mean?

“Let me guess; you’re inside the house,” I throw back, half hoping that I’m wrong.

The man doesn’t say anything but in his absence, I hear a strange noise from upstairs. It’s sounds like something or someone fell.

“Aren’t you going to see what that was?” He asks as I take small steps towards the staircase. I know better than to grab a knife from the kitchen but I’m also not about to be unarmed. Instead I grab the sword that the dad I’m house sitting for keeps tucked between the fridge and the wall.

“That’s cute,” the man teases me and I’m now convinced that this freak is either inside, watching from a window, or is just really good at guessing my next move.

I’m going to go with the first option given that I hear another thud from upstairs.

“Who are you?” I ask when I come to the foot of the stairs. All of the lights are off on the second floor making it so that I can’t see beyond the first few feet anyways.

A chuckle rings out at my question. I can’t tell if it’s coming from my phone or from above me. I slowly begin to climb upstairs and the line goes dead. With the sword in one hand and the flat lining phone in the other, I hesitate as I reach the top step.

There’s movement to my left and I sweep the sword towards it. This freak is smarter than that though and his voice cuts through the thick air to my right, “The question isn’t, who am I? The question is where am I?”

Spinning to face him, I’m met with the sight of a towering man wearing a ghost mask and a black cloak.

“Fuck,” I whisper.

“Hello, Y/N, it’s an honor,” Ghostface smirks down at me from behind his mask.

𝔱𝔥𝔦𝔰, 𝔬𝔲𝔯 𝔱𝔬𝔴𝔫 𝔬𝔣 𝔥𝔞𝔩𝔩𝔬𝔴𝔢𝔢𝔫 . . .

spooky season is right around the corner and rock bottom headquarters are happy to announce that they'll be treating everyone signed to the agency to a trip to california to partake in a week of theme parks and haunted houses to celebrate properly—all expenses paid. friends and family are more than welcome to tag along as well.

the trip will span between october 8th and october 15th. accommodations have been booked at disney's grand californian hotel and spa and hotel amarano. you have your choice of where you want to stay and you're more than welcome to pick roommates of your choice. luxury company vehicles will act as shuttles and will be available at each hotel to transport you to and from each event throughout the week.

leading up to the trip, select musical acts will be chosen to play gigs at some of our favorite venues across los angeles—you didn't expect this to be all play and no work, did you? the show schedule will be released shortly, but in the meantime, here's a breakdown of what the week will look like.

oct 8: arrive in los angeles oct 9: free day oct 10: oogie boogie bash at disney california adventure oct 11: haunted horror nights at universal studios hollywood oct 12: haunted hayride at griffith park oct 13 free day until 9pm, then halloween party oct 14: free day oct 15: check out, head home

for each free day on the itinerary, the agency has booked several different things to participate in. tickets to various guided haunted ghost and paranormal tours, several haunted houses, and pumpkin patches will be available each free day. we'll also have passes available to disneyland, disney california adventure, and universal studios available for those who would like to attend the parks on their free days, as well as the days rock bottom has set aside for everyone to attend at the same time. for those who might want a more relaxed free day, premium spa services will be available at disney's grand californian hotel and both hotels will have unlimited access to various pools, hot tubs, and on location dining experiences.

a separate post will be made with all of the details for the halloween party at the end of the week, but trust us: you don't want to miss that.
