GX 79->80 (WIP #2): Enter Despairland

Following up on this post, I wanted to drop a quick update now that I’ve been editing this for about 2-3 weeks so far with Sony Vegas and Photoshop. (Original video here for comparison.) Off the top, because of how hard it seemed to me to try and edit the sides of Alice’s hair in the later panning shot at the window to remove the blue sidebars (her hair blends too much into the night sky behind her given the video quality), I opted to just focus on the TV sponsor text in the middle; may as well keep the sidebars for the Japanese-text clip I’ll include with 79′s DVDRip upon release, while I’ve added these solid sidebars so I could add the English text for the final product.  Special thanks to @popflythesky who very graciously offered to help with this (🙏🏽🙂)--more on that down below.

Being a mostly still shot, the first shot of Misawa at his desk was probably the easiest to work on--since only his head and the upper part of his jacket collar move, I was able to mask in his torso and the curtain behind him from the first video frame (before the text appears) using Vegas, while I used Photoshop to lightly redraw his hair in the three frames he moves in.

The shot of Alice’s card on his monitor took a bit more editing, but was essentially just one frame of it--I used the Clone Tool in Photoshop to replicate the Watapon background, touching it up as needed, while using a render/touchup of this Alice’s card artwork (credit to Hit-hitsu-suji for theirs; I’ll be shouting them out in 79′s Wake Up Your Heart Special Thanks credits) and the Effect Monster frame from the card template I use to make proxies for my card fixes to cover up the text there, while also re-typing the “UNKNOWN” on the effect box.  The Japanese version of the clip will still use the Japanese name and rarity text, of course.

The panning shot up Alice’s artwork uses the same render from above, which I re-panned in Vegas.

The panning shot of Alice by the window was probably the first thing I actually tackled, if not second after the initial Misawa clip, and what came in handy was picking up that Alice looped through 6-7 movement frames.  This meant that I could take the latter loop, place it over the first loop, mask out the parts on her that were textless and just move them into place--then once I exported that first loop, I could place it over the latter loop and sort of repeat that process.  I then just masked in her lip flaps, along with the sides of her hair on either side of the text to restore the moving sky behind her a bit, and boom.

Misawa’s gasp as he panics is the more recent part I just finished editing--since it’s a zooming-out shot and Misawa has 6-7 frames of movement during it, each lasting for three or so frames, I worked by editing the last frame and then re-rotating/re-zooming as needed in Vegas (except in one case where I accidentally saved the first of the three frames and started editing it before noticing lol).  In Photoshop, I cleaned Misawa up in those 6-7 movement frames by repainting his eyebrows, sideburn, eyes, skin, mouth/teeth, and left ear (removing a lot of the noise on him due to the video quality in the process), and then editing them into the video in Vegas.  I did have to sorta guess where to place his sweatdrop, since the text was covering 99% of it in most of the frames, so I had to squint to make out an approximate spot, but once I re-drew most of it in a later frame, I edited it back into the earlier ones so it was consistent.  Hopefully not too noticeable.

So, progress!

I’m now working on the last close-up of Alice, editing her hair and face/eyes as needed in 14 movement frames (though it might be fewer since the latter half of those are once she raises her head, and I can probably work with the last textless frame of the video for them), while @popflythesky has been graciously working on the 20-ish frames for the shot of Misawa as it pans to Alice at the window 🙏🏽 Depending on the timing, if I’m able to finish with Alice’s closeup and throw my edits in before they’re finished, I’ll probably start editing 77′s script to get that going, and then work those cleaned frames into the video once done--we’ll see.  But this is coming along nicely, and I’m looking forward to preserving this odd bit of history for my subs, lol.  Stay tuned!

also wooyoung's wings are literally amazing. him cradling her with them almost unconsciously when they come out and them coming out when he came I WAS SCREECHING OMG

and the thing about how joong doesn't understand human idioms, he's literally so cute, like the bit where reader is like 'only god knows' and he's like 'yes i do know, anyways - '

also, i know they have their human forms but joong is mentioned to have green hair and woo to have orange, can they change the appearance of their human form's hair to be natural colours or is it just like that?

Anyway more funny about this is that Exp showed up nonchalantly the next day at school with his hand all bandaged and asked his classmates if they wanted to see the bloody stitches because he thought they were soo cool

His psychiatrist also wasn't thrilled to hear about how this little accident was only making this little guy's not-yet-god complex worse than before, and that he kinda liked seeing the blood and the little of bone that got exposed when the finger blew off

UGHHH I TYPED OUT SO MUCH AND THEN TUMBLR JUSY RANDOMLY CLOSED AND IT ALL GOT DELETED😭😭😭 so im too lazy now to do all of it again sorry. heres the gist (i promise i condensed it as much as i could; i left out a lot) (its really quite an interesting case)

basically he used to be a vegan and a talented violin player. he was a normal healthy weight, around 146 pounds i think? somewhere there. he even made a violin cover of a trisha paytas song which was his first instance of contact between them (more on that later). he made modest vegan mukbangs with his pet parrot on his shoulder, which gained him an audience among other mukbang youtubers. he made videos about veganism but he always expressed his disdain for the community, saying that they had a superiority complex and felt as if they were better than non vegans.

he later stopped being vegan and continued mukbang videos, now with meat. his portion sizes grew and grew with his audience. he had notably feigned ignorance toward his weight gain, saying it was stress, water weight, and genetics, so he ate more and more without worry. he had a boyfriend named orlin, and. get this. in a vlog they stated that nikocado had slept with several men and cheated on orlin, and then slept with orlin and gave him an std. at the time he was worried about his weight gain and worried about the effects on his health, but…. he never did anything to stop it, so. he just kept gaining weight

he got into many controversies with other mukbang channels, but i dont know too much about those. im going to talk about his two biggest controversies: with trisha paytas, and stephanie soo.

trisha and nikocado had started chatting and nikocado brought up the idea of a collab. at the time trisha seemed amiable to this idea, and nikocado hurriedly bought a plane ticket and flew out to meet trisha. when he arrived, he texted her repeatedly, but she had ghosted him. nikocado felt hurt, and then started slandering trisha on the internet repeatedly. most notably he edited a clip of trisha on younow with another youtuber, and made it seem as if trisha was making a fatphobic remark on his weight. if you watch the whole younow stream, she was actually defending him against the other youtuber. trisha has maintained that she never actually agreed to the collab and nikocado just got over-excited. things between trisha and nikocado never got resolved… they just kind of died down over time.

stephanie soo was the end of nikocado’s reputation. at the time she had moved into a million dollar apartment and invited nikocado over to check it out. while she was in the bathroom, nikocado took photos of intimate parts of her home without consent. stephanie also said that nikocado made her feel pressured and unsafe in his vicinity, but she didnt bring it up because she was scared of what reaction she would get. during their mukbang videos together, stephanie said she felt pressured and scared of nikocado. stephanie was a victim of sa and other various terrible experiences and she felt that being with nikocado had made her feel similar to her experiences in the past.

prior to this, nikocado had a reputation of being someone who was skilled at taking down his opponents in these internet fights. OH i forgot to mention that he was also in a fight with mukbang youtuber veronica wang, and just know that he was in the wrong. i forgot most of the context. but now, stephanie had released a video titled “Why I’m Scared of Nikocado Avocado” and he had tried to once again skillfully take her down, but he failed because he had zero evidence and all the evidence was pointing towards stephanie being correct. the internet turned on him, and just as recently as 12 days ago, hes trying to hit 400 pounds. god bless

If someone were to tell you today that you would find yourself in a compromising and much less than innocent position with the King of Erebor and his oldest nephew, you would probably laugh it off and subtly call for help since there is something wrong with that person- but apparently it's not quite as farfetched as you thought it would be. 

Now, let me rewind for a second since you must be curious and probably very confused. 

It all started that day when Gandalf propositioned you and your dearest brother Bilbo to join him and some dwarves on an adventure to reclaim some mountain with a dragon or whatever in it. You, being you, really wanted to go and accepted the conditions right away, though Bilbo was much more apprehensive to go along with any of it. 

He argued and asked what you would even do, but Gandalf filled in an explanation for you. "Well, she'll be our healer of course. What else?" 

The two of you ultimately did end up going on this adventure, and you were lucky enough to become pretty close with the eldest of Thorin's two nephews. 

You're rather fond of him for your own reasons, but you keep it strictly to yourself and don't dare to let anyone else know of your less than friendly feelings that you've caught. 

And honestly, you're mostly convinced that you're not the only one to be feeling in such a way considering the way that he flirts with you so shamelessly. 

For example, night after night Fili insists that you share his sleeping area with you, and he's constantly making jokes and advancing jokes just to see you flush. 

"M-My hands are freezing..." You had stuttered one night.

Fili wasted no time in replying rather slyly, "Perhaps if I hold it then I can warm you?" 

Small things like this and not so subtle touches are what make you assume he likes you. He also insisted that he teach you how to fight himself, and it seems to you that he's only using it as an excuse to get closer to you. 

Eventually, he does build up the courage to tell you that he's interested, and quickly following that is some more than PG-13 stuff if you catch my drift. 

Little did you know at the time, though, that he isn't the only one who's had their eyes on you, for a certain King has set his sights in a very similar area, and his nephew was very aware of this fact.

They discussed it, and Thorin approached you at one point to tell you as such, and now you're caught in an odd place. Your heart is with Fili, but you can't help but to think of Thorin in a less than innocent way as well. 

You did end up kissing the to-be king a few times, and while it's not like Fili doesn't know you do still feel odd. 

You're caught between the two of them, and you feel no little amount of shame when you have a moment to think about it all.

You're absentmindedly wandering through the trees while everyone gets settled in for the night when Fili first approaches you, a bright smile on his face and determination in his eyes.

Right away you know he's going to ask to teach you some more stuff, and while you don't particularly feel up to it at the moment, you know he'll still convince you to agree.

"Y/N, here you are. I was wondering if you wanted to fight with me?" 

You look at him distrustfully and ask cooly, "Are we actually going to fight or are you just going to turn it into another one of your... inappropriate games?" 

He smiles wolfishly at the implications behind your words but doesn't deny it, "I'm not sure yet, do you want to find out?" 

The deadpan look you give him only makes him smile brighter, and, eventually, you relent and sigh wearily, "Fine, but promise to actually teach me something, this time." 

"I can certainly do that. Now, take out your sword and come stand by me." He tells you right away, drawing his own from its sheath with the usual excited glint for combat in his eyes. 

Without hesitation you draw your sword and move to stand in front of him, tapping your foot against the ground a few times while you wait. 

"Good girl." He purrs, reaching up with his free hand to tap your nose gently. 

"Ah, stop that!" You grumble, swatting his hand away before stepping away and raising your sword, getting into proper stance, "You promised to teach me, first." 

"Not first, I didn't." He challenges, raising his own with that same battle-hungry gleam sparkling in his, usually, soft blue eyes. 

You wait for him to charge you first, and when he does his movements are slower than usual (he always fights with no more than half effort since you're still just a beginner) and he's less guarded. 

As soon as he does, you raise your sword and they clash together with a loud clanking noise, and you push forward to try and knock him off balance, but he only slides his blade away and swipes at your side.

You jump away from the slow and controlled blow (he's always extremely careful to not hurt you) and just barely raise your weapon in time to block yet another slash, arms trembling under the power behind his hold on his weapon. 

He's got you in a pretty impossible position at the moment (it's only been a few seconds too), and you aren't quite sure what to do. 

He's leaning over you with your blades crossed, and you know that you won't be able to keep up against him for too long in this battle of strength, so you jerk your crossed swords to the side and duck the other way, dropping your weapon in the process unfortunately. 

It clangs to the ground and the dwarf allows his to follow suit, turning on you with no weapon either. 

He then starts to chase you around the clearing, and you kinda just run around in circles, dodging and weaving between trees to keep him from grabbing you.

"Fili!" You shriek when he almost gets a hold of your arm, twirling out of the way and running around another large tree. 

"Mahal-" He huffs, panting quietly since you're much too fast for him to keep up with. 

All you really have to do is wait him out, you realize, so you continue your scampering and end up taunting him. "Am I too fast?" You call with an excited gleam in your eyes, feeling joyful when he glares at you and lunges towards you once more.

"Stay still, damn it!" He growls when he only catches air once more, frustration beginning to fuel his movements. 

You begin to giggle and titter when he becomes more competitive and determined to take you down, but unfortunately your overconfidence betrays you and makes you blind, for your foot gets caught on a root and you fall forward with flailing arms.

Mere seconds after you trip is Fili pouncing on top of you, his arms locking yours against your side while sitting on your lower back (though he does use his knees to keep most of his weight off of you). 

"Ughhh," you gripe and groan with a mixture of irritation and discomfort, but you don't bother trying to get him off you since he's so damn heavy. 

Fili leans over you, his chest pressing against your back, and slides his forearms to rest on either side of your head, his nose pressing into your hair while he chuckles lowly, "You got arrogant, love." 

A pout forms on your lips instantly at his observation of your downfall, and while he's right, it still annoys you. 

You turn your head to the side and look up at him with one eye, your cheek pressing against the grass while whine, "It's not fair!"

"Why's it not fair?" He asks with a raised eyebrow, eyeing you with amusement in his gaze.

"B-Because!" 

"Because why?" 

"Because you always win! And you know you'll always win." You grumble, shifting your arms up to rest under your head. "You also didn't teach me anything." 

A smirk slides onto his face as he sits up, relieving some of his weight off of you by lifting himself on his knees, but he doesn't get off you like you thought he would and instead only flips you over onto your back. "I taught you a lesson in humility." 

"Humility?" You snort at his words and roll your eyes, reaching up to pinch both his cheeks, "You're the most boastful and swanky fighter in this whole group! There's no way I could learn humility from the likes of you." 

When your fingers pinch and prod at his face he glowers at you, reaching up to crush both your hands in his and press them down to the grass by your head, "Awfully bold words from a hobbit who just ate dirt." 

"I'd like to see you clamber around in these big feet of mine." You shoot back, still pouting at him for rubbing salt in the wound. 

"I'm sure it's much harder that it looks." He hums, leaning over you to begin trailing kisses along your jaw. 

While it's a nice feeling that you don't much want to go away, though, you were made a promise. "Hey! I thought you said you would teach me something!" 

"I already did." He repeats in a whispers next to your ear, pressing a quick kiss to the shell of your ear before sliding his hands along your sides (thus releasing your hands). "Come on now, love, are you telling me that you're not interested in me at all right now?" 

You don't reply right away since you're kinda stuck in an internal debate. Of course, you do want him, but at the same time you want him to properly teach you something this time around. 

Eventually, your desire does win out against your interest in becoming a better fighter, so you tangle your hands up in his hair and tug his head down so your lips may meet. 

He wastes no time in claiming your lips in a heated lip-lock, his body covering your own while his hands slide up into your tunic and go straight to your chest. 

With careful movements you tug and curl your fingers into his hair, tugging at it by the roots while his tongue slides against your own. 

"Y-You better not rip my shirt." You warn muffledly into the kiss when you feel his hands begin to bunch up into the cloth of your tunic, and while he does loosen his grip he also complains. 

"You're always so touchy about the clothes." He grumbles, pulling away from you so he can discard your shirt properly. 

"Well, I don't much fancy the idea of walking around the others bare-chested." You gripe, adding after, "But if you really want me to-"

He grabs your waist with slightly harsh fingers, the scowl on his face betraying his disdain for your teasing speech, "Fine, fine. I see your point." He concedes, grabbing the hem of his own shirt to pull it up over his head, reaching down with one arm to lift you up slightly so he can lay his shirt out underneath you. 

After he's got something to separate your soft skin from the harsh, dirty ground he lays you back down and removes your bindings with skilled and ever familiar movements and dips his head down to begin pressing kisses along the expanse of your chest. 

You reach up and wrap your arms around his head, keeping him pressed to your chest while he leaves open-mouthed kisses and bites on and around your collarbone, making his way down to your left breast while his hands descend upon the right.

A smile spreads across his face when you start to stutter and become more flustered, and right away he reaches down and caresses your cheek, "I'm only teasing, love, now relax." He tells you quietly, trailing his hand down from your cheek to your neck, then down to your ribs. 

"C-Can someone please tell me what's going on here?" You ask incredulously, looking between the two of them again, "I'm confused." 

The blond-haired dwarf leans down and whispers softly next to your ear, "You don't mind if my uncle joins us, do you? It's nothing he hasn't seen before." He's talking about you, and you immediately feel ashamed. 

Well that's surprising, but certainly not unwelcome at the moment despite your internal guilt. 

"U-Uh, I guess not..." You mumble apprehensively, noting the way he frowns as concern flashes across his face. 

"Nobody will be upset if you do not want to." He reminds just as sweetly. "It may seem otherwise, but you're in control here." 

"No, no I do...Maybe it'll be fun?" 

A smile spreads across his face at your admission of wanting it, and he sits up right after and looks back over at his uncle, "I told you she would be fine with it, now stop hovering- it's unnerving." He jokes, going back to kiss you while also still leaving you with another question.

Instead of harping on it you just return the kiss and run your fingers up into his wild mane of hair, listening as Thorin approaches, nerves alight with anticipation of what's going to happen next. 

Fili retracts from your lips after a moment and settles at your neck, and as soon as Fili is gone a new ever familiar pair hands cup your cheeks.

Your attention is directed to Thorin, and a smile works its way onto your face right away, "H-Hi." You stutter, pressing your forehead against his.

He returns the smile and greeting, "Hello." And then surges forward and presses his lips firmly against yours. 

No time is wasted on your part in returning the slightly harsher kiss, one of your hands flying up to bury in his dark hair while Fili's hands wander along the length of your body. 

Fili's hand finds your awaiting heat once more and right away he resumes his actions from back before Thorin interrupted him, his fingers sliding into your slick heat with little difficulty.

When all he does is watch, though, you go ahead and do as Fili urged and climb over him, settling on his chest with a nervous smile on your face.

Fili reaches up and grabs your hips, lifting you up a bit so he can slide up to a seated position while wiping his face with a big grin on his lips. 

You look at him with hot cheeks and a sheepish expression on your face, seeing right away that he's painfully hard and straining against his trousers. 

The blond dwarf leans forward and pecks your cheek, looking over at his uncle who has seated himself on the ground just a few inches away from you both with the same pleased look on his face.

So wow it has been a really long time like wow haha what has happened:

My parents found about my ed and I was terrified for them to go on my phone and to go on tumblr and find my blog so I didn’t go on it for a long time! Over summer I ate heaps but also ran like every day because of my rowing training schedule and I loved it I found a new passion for running and eating healthy! But now I have just finished term one back at school and wow it’s so weird that I can’t just wake up every morning and go running so I have been missing more breakfasts like I used to and more lunches but now that it’s the holidays and I am staying at our Bach I just can’t seem to escape food !! Ughhh so I have been doing lots and of running and unfortunately eating. Unfortunately for me I have gained 2.3 kilos scince before summer I’m at 60kgs And was at 58kgs but my goal hasn’t changed from being 50kgs and I’m starting to really work for it even with food for now by just restricting calories and LOTS of running hehe but it will go back to fasting hopefully and skipping meals when I get back to school. But yea that has what has been happening with me lately. I will try my best to blog more and post updates on this acc. Dia-Bad Ass

Series: Star Trek

Character: Leonard McCoy

A/N: So, like, this is totally self indulgent. I’m a type 1 diabetic and wanted to kinda write what I think it would be like to be a diabetic in Bone’s care. It’s not romantic in nature at all so, you won’t be finding anything like that in this fic.

You would think that living in a time of medical enhancements, there would be no such thing as sickness. Which is true, in a way. Most of all the major  from the 21st century have been eradicated, most except Type 1 diabetes. Of course, if caught early, the autoimmune disease could be stopped and eradicated from the body. But you were not so lucky. You started showing symptoms at the age of ten, much too old to undergo the treatment. So you joined the few thousand that still lived with it, day in and day out.

Life wasn’t so bad though. Modern medicine helped lessen the burden some, although your father would always say, “Why can they just cure it. Get rid of the whole illness once and for all.” Of course, there’s always more to issue like this. But you grew up despite your malady. You grew up to be smart, so smart in fact that Starfleet wanted you to join the academy early. Saying that physicists are in high demand and that they need the best minds up in space.

After the academy, you were soon placed on the USS Enterprise. You were ecstatic. You could not wait, to go. But you’re parents didn’t hesitate to show their concern.

“You have to promise you’ll take care of yourself. We can’t lose you up there. And if we do, I don’t want it to be cause your pancreas couldn’t hold out.” Your mother hugged you as you boarded the shuttle. And then you were off.

It’s been about a year since you’ve joined the Enterprise crew and you wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. Not to mention, your diabetes never came up, which was a relief. Back on earth once someone knew, it was all you were to them, their diabetic friend. But the only one who knew was the ship’s CMO, Dr. McCoy, and even he said that as long as you did what you were supposed to, you’d be fine.

I’ll be fine. Just a few more minutes… finish this assignment for Commander Spock. I’ll be fine. You sat at your workstation, pouring over some assignment given to you by Spock. It was important and you were determined to finish. So determined, that you had neglected to eat that morning… or that afternoon. You ate a small snack sometime ago and told yourself that you’d be fine come dinner time. You continued to worked and became so focused that you didn’t hear the door open or Dr. McCoy’s footsteps as he neared you.

“(Y/L/N)?” Dr. McCoy coughed to grab your attention, but you did not look up.

“(Y/L/N)!” He raised his voice slightly this time, you and others working looked up.

“Oh, Dr. McCoy. What can I do for you?”

He held out a cup to you.

“What is it?”

“Apple juice.”

You made a face and turned back to your work, “Oh, no thanks. That stuff does me no favors.”

“Do you not feel it?” His voice was tense, laced with worry.

“Feel what?”

“Your blood sugar's been dropping for the last hour.”

When those words came out of his mouth, you realize that your hands were shaking. That would explain why I can’t focus… You thought.

“Thanks for the heads up… Hang on. How did you know?” You turned in your seat to face the doctor. The look on his face was not a happy one.

“I’ve got an alert setup that tells me when your blood sugar drops or rises beyond the set parameters. It’s all connected to your CGM and pump.”

Your hand unconsciously gripped your arm where your constant glucose monitor sat. You thought you were the only one to receive those alerts.

“That sounds like an evasion of privacy Doctor.”

“Well, when it comes to the medical conditions of the ship’s crew, there really isn’t such a thing as privacy, Ensign.”

He held the cup out once again. “Drink.”

You frowned, but took the cup. You downed it as quick as you could and handed the cup back to Leonard.

“There. Happy?”

You turned back to your work, but didn’t hear the retreating steps of the grumpy doctor.

“Is there anything else Dr. McCoy?” You looked back at him annoyed.

“I’m going to stay here until your sugar’s back up. It should take about 15 minutes, but if it doesn’t come up, then we have to go to medbay.”

You scoffed, “I’m not going to medbay.”

“You are if I say you are.”

“No, I’m not. It’ll come up, just leave me alone!”

“God dammit woman. I’m not going to let you sit here and pass out. If I think there’s a danger to your health, you’re going to medbay!”

“Is there a problem here Doctor?”

You jumped at the sound of Commander Spock’s voice. You hadn’t even noticed him walk in. Dr. McCoy looked toward the vulcan, “Tell your Ensign that she needs to listen to me.”

“I am listening to him Commander, I just don’t like what he’s saying.”

“Perhaps I may be of some assistance?”

Leonard looked to you, a smirk on his face, “I’m sure that would be helpful. (Y/N), would you like to disclose to Mr. Spock on the medical issue you are currently experiencing?”

Damn. Dr. McCoy knew you didn’t like telling others about your diabetes. You shook your head and scowled up at Dr. McCoy, “No, that won’t be necessary.  I’ll return shortly to finish this assignment Mr. Spock.”

Spock nodded as you followed Dr. McCoy to medbay.

You ran down the corridor, not very well, but still running. “(Y/N)! Stop!” You could hear Dr. McCoy yell after you. It’s been like this for a week, Dr. McCoy chasing you down to scold you about your diabetes so, you had made it your number one priority to avoid Dr. McCoy at all costs. But you forgot that he could still track your numbers and ignoring a low blood sugar for the second day in a row, Dr. McCoy was sure to track you down.

“(Y/L/N)!” You could still hear his shouts come after you, you rounded a corner and into an empty meeting room. You stood still as you waited for McCoy’s footsteps to pass. When they did, you let out a sigh of relief.

“Who are you hiding from?”

You jumped at the sound of the unexpected voice and turned to face Captian Kirk.

“Oh Jesus, you scared me Captain.”

“Sorry. But this is my hiding spot, but I’m willing to share. If you tell me who it is you’re hiding from.”

“I’m hiding from Dr. McCoy.”

Jim laughed. “I’m glad I’m not the only one who does that. Why? You owe him a medical examination too?”

“No, nothing like that. It’s just….um. Well, I don’t like talking about it much.”

Jim’s expression turned serious. “It’s not like a personal problem right? Like a romantic issue?”

You made a face and shook your head, “Ew, no. He’s like twice my age. Not gonna happen. Ew. He could be my dad. Omigosh, why would you say that? Ughhh. That messed up my whole day.”

Jim laughed once more and sat down at the table. “Okay, okay. I get it. Then what's the problem?”

You looked at your boots, You should let him know. He’s the captain for crying out loud. It’s not like he’ll go around and tell everyone. You sighed and said, “I’m a type 1 diabetic.”

Jim straightened in his chair at your words, ready to fully listen.

“I haven’t been doing too good lately. And apparently, Dr. McCoy’s got my pump and monitor hooked up to his own PADD, so he can track my numbers too. It’s been a rough week. I’ve been forgetting to eat and waiting till the last minute to deal with my lows. I know it’s dangerous, but I don’t want Commander Spock to lessen my workload, just because I’m diabetic. I can do the work, I just wish… I just wish-”

“Bones wouldn’t worry so much?”

“Yeah.” You sat down next to the captain and pulled out some candy from your pocket.

“Are you low right now?”

You didn’t look up at him, just chewed your candy. Jim sighed.

“(Y/N), I’m going to tell you something, but you can’t tell Bones I told you this or he’s gonna make my medical exams worse than they already are.”

“Tell me what?”

“Leonard has a daughter, Johanna. Super sweet kid. Just turned five.”

“Okay?”

“Sometime before Bones and his ex-wife split, Jo got diagnosed with type 1.”

Your breath hitched. “But she’s pretty young right? She should’ve gotten the treatment.”

“Just barely. Bones will tell you that that’s one of the scariest moments of his life.”

“Huh…”

“So, I mean, let him worry. He’s scared for you, probably thinks of Jo every time he looks at you.”

“Yeah…Doesn’t make it less annoying though.”

Jim smiled, “No it doesn’t. But try to be better. I’m sure if you explain to Spock why you need to take some more breaks, he’ll understand. I’ll even talk to him if you want.”

“No, that’s okay. I’ve got this.”

Just then the door open and there stood Dr. McCoy with his ever present scowl plastered on his face.

“Bones! How nice-”

“I don’t have time for you Jim.” Leonard cut him off and look to you. “How are you feeling?” He asked with an edge to his voice.

“F-fine.” You said quietly, “I ate some of that candy you gave me. I can feel it kicking in.”

“Good. Let’s get to medbay. Make sure it gets up and stays up.”

“Right.” You stood and look to Jim. He gave you a smile and a wink before you left the room. Leonard stayed behind for one second and looked at Jim, “I’ll see you tomorrow for your medical exam.” The last thing you heard before the doors closed was Jim’s loud groan.

You woke up to the sound of beeping. Well, you tried to wake up, you were awake, but your body didn’t seem to follow suit. You sat up, immediately understanding what was happening. You looked to your PADD, a message from your pump flashed on the screen: Critical: Blood Sugar Low. You tried and reached for the small bag on your bedside table. Dr. McCoy had just given you a new bag of glucose tabs to treat your lows, but your hands were so unsteady that you couldn’t get a good grip on it. You heard it tumblr to the floor. Crap. I got to… I have to get to medbay. You were too weak to do anything yourself. Dr. McCoy. I have to call Dr.McCoy… You tried to sit up and stand, but you could tell that you wouldn’t stay upright for long. You tried to type out a message to Leonard, but your PADD slipped from your fingers and crashed to the floor. You groaned to yourself, it’s not safe to go by yourself. But you had to get to medbay some how, and it’s not that far from your room. You decided that you’d try and tough it out and get to medbay. You left your room, boots over your sweatpants, down to medbay. You stayed closed to the wall, not sure when your knees would give out.

“Ensign (Y/L/N)?”

You looked up to see Commander Spock coming down the hall.

“C-commander…” You stumbled a bit as you walked forward, grateful that Spock was there to help steady you. He held you up as you looked at him.

“Are you alright (Y/L/N)?”

“Medbay… I need to get to…” You didn’t get to finish your sentence before the world went black.

You sat up abruptly, instantly regretting doing so as a headache greeted you. “Shit.” You mumbled, looking around. You made it to medbay. Good. But I don’t really remember how i got here… You were in a private exam room, and just then Dr. McCoy walked in.

“(Y/N). You’re awake. How are you feeling?” He came up to you and checked the screen next to the biobed.

“I’m fine, I think. What happened? I’m getting bits and pieces of what happened, but…”

“Your sugar was so low, that you passed out. Spock found you barely conscious walking down the hall. What happened?”

“I… I woke up late last night. My PADD was going crazy, I tried to treat it but my hands were so shaky, I couldn’t even grab the glucose tabs.”

“You went low in your sleep?”

“Yeah.”

“Well, Let’s fix your insulin intake so that doesn’t happen. You’ve been doing better these past couple days.”

“Mostly because I’m tired of you hovering over me.”

Bones laughed, “Well, I wanna make sure you’re okay darlin’.”

“Well, thanks. I probably need someone to look after me.”

“Yeah, that’s what your mom said.”

“My mother?”

“Yep. She got in contact with me your first week here on the Enterprise. Made me promise to keep an eye on you. Of course, I said I would. It’s my job.”

“Yeah, well, I don’t like it when people hover.”

“She mentioned that as well.” Dr. McCoy handed you a glass of water and moved to the door.

“Let’s try and avoid another incident like this, okay?”

“Will do Doctor.”
