Anakin’s support for the fascist empire comes from the fact that he feels he has no other choice but to remain loyal to the monster he’s entrapped himself too because he sacrificed and lost everything else, it doesn’t reflect his core values and beliefs in anyway. It’s why he has so much self loathing when he becomes Vader, because he doesn’t agree with any of the actions he’s made to execute. He’s all pain and suffering hurdled up in a mask helmet and carries out orders like a pawn, Anakin’s reduced to nothing but a weapon by Palpatine when the Empire rises. Don’t blame his actions as Vader on Anakin’s upbringing as a child slave because if anything that’s what formed his ideology of liberty and peace. He doesn’t want people to have their rights and freedoms destroyed or taken from them, he doesn’t agree with war and bloodshed unnecessarily and for innocent civilians. That’s why when he speaks to Padmé about a potential dictatorship working it’s only in reason for whether or not it can help maintain peace and abolish tyranny. He doesn’t actually rejoice in the suffering of others and think people should lose their freedom, he thinks if someone as kind and just as Padmé could rule the galaxy, everything would be good. Anakin’s ignorant of what a dictatorship could lead too and mean and how it would do more damage than good for civilization, but his mind and heart are in the right place when he says that.
