you're not just some lover, you're more than i’d ever ask for. though we may live far away, you're in my thoughts every single day. in every way.
Everyone had slowly filtered out as the early hours of the morning rolled through. You were the last one left, sitting cross legged on Dick’s sofa and looking at the mess of cups, plates and empty bottles. Dick was at the door, chatting idly with Kori before she threw her arms around him.
“Gimme another hug goodbye!” She called to you over his shoulder, making you giggle as you pushed yourself up. Dick let the door swing open fully and Kori pulled you into a hug, kissing your cheek before finally heading home.“Bye! Miss you guys already!” She called as Donna wrapped her hand around Kori’s wrist, tugging her towards the elevator while waving with her free hand.
You and Dick waved back with a shared dazed look before ducking back into his apartment. He huffed at the sight, heading into his living room while you lingered by the door. “I can help you clean up.” You offered, it had become a steady tradition, always the last one to leave and ready to help. It was rare for everyone to find the time to spend hours drinking and eating in Dick’s massive apartment, sharing stories both old and new, and letting go of the weight they all carried. If just for a moment.
You were sure it was why everyone left tripping over themselves and you were on the less hammered side of things. You didn’t need to let loose in the way your friends did. And while you were never apart of the superhero and vigilante life, you were still a part of Dick’s, and now many mutual friends. You had known him for years, a grounding point to something normal when everything was too much.
“You sure?” Dick called, gathering a few plates while you shrugged.
“Yeah, least I can do. Plus if you still wanted to go out tonight…” You let your sentence trail off, you never inserted yourself into Dick’s vigilantism. You were only ever offered mere glimpses into that side, and had seen him out on patrol only a few times over the years.
“Nah, my shoulder still hurts and I don’t think I'll sober up enough in time.” He admitted, making you laugh.
“What happened to your shoulder?” You asked, heading into his kitchen to find the garbage bags he kept under the sink. Dick followed behind you with an absurdly high stack of dishes, looking all too pleased with himself as he placed everything into the sink.
“I didn’t show you?” He cocked his head, and when you shook your head no, Dick pulled one side of his shirt over his head. He stood close in his rather spacious kitchen, letting you take in the bruising that danced along his shoulder, dipped down his collarbones, before tapering off into parts of his chest.
“Ouch.” You murmured, trying not to dwell on the rest of Dick’s body, the scars you had seen before that faded with age, and the musculature that made your insides warm. You were definitely still tispy, shifting away from Dick with an uncertain smile.
You turned your attention back towards the garbage bag before he could notice, heading towards the living room while Dick started on the many dishes. You picked up all the plastic cups and wrappers, whatever food had somehow fallen onto his floor or couch. You tossed the bag aside and picked up all the recyclables, dumping them into the bin in Dick’s kitchen rather noisily. He shushed you while chuckling.
“It’s like three a.m., if I get another nose complaint my landlord is gonna kill me.” He warned.
“Sorry, sorry, its my bad I care about the earth.” You teased, turning back to the living room when water splattered against your back. Dick stood there as you turned around, hand wet and soapy, dripping onto his floor. You opened your mouth when he flicked more dishwater at you. It hit you in the face and landed in your hair and Dick almost keeled over giggling. He hunched over the sink with his wheezy laughter while you rolled your eyes.
“I hope you slip and drown.” You muttered, collecting any trash you missed and leaving the bag by his door to deal with later.
You shuffled next to Dick, and began drying his dishware. You talked idly about how the night went, how nice it was seeing Wally for the first time in a while, and that Gar was really quiet today.
“He seemed happy though.” You stated, carrying a few dried glasses to their appropriate cupboard.
“Yeah, I think he misses everyone.” Dick said softly.
“Its okay if you miss them too y'know.” You nudged him gently, more focused on his side profile than the bowls that needed to be dried next. Dick looked over at you, sending you a dopey smile, it was all teeth and still so genuine.
“I know…and I do.” He admitted, looking away.
“Well I hope seeing them today made you feel a little better, miss them less.”
“Yknow if you really wanted to make me feel better, we could switch?” Dick asked suddenly, turning off the tap while you stared at him a little dumbfounded. Maybe it was everything still lingering in your system, or how whiny Dick sounded when he asked, but you looked at him incredulously.
“Uh sure?” Dick moved you over and took your place the moment you agreed, obviously much more content with his new task while you washed the last few plates. “Really taking me up on my offer to help clean huh?” You teased after a few moments, Dick looked a bit sheepish as he glanced in your direction, but you were smiling. You bumped him with your hip, bothering him instead about all the television shows you know he hasn’t been keeping up with.
After everything was washed, dried and put away, you two found yourselves back on the couch. “My fingers are all wrinkly.” You said, holding them up for Dick to see who scrunched up his nose.
“It was why I wanted to switch, I hate that feeling.” He shuddered at the thought, shoulders brushing yours as he did. You were sitting with your legs stretched out onto the coffee table, while Dick cross legged next to you.
You reached your pruney fingers over, brushing them over his forearm, much to Dick’s dismay. He let out a way too dramatic scream before both your hand, and his flew over his mouth. You were trying your hardest not to laugh, Dick’s face inches away from yours, pupils blown with fear and liquor. When no killer jumped out or neighbour came yelling, you dropped your hand, giggling while Dick let out a huff, disturbing the hair sweeping across his forehead. Dick leaned his head back against the back of the couch, and you reached over, brushing his hair from his eyes.
Dick looked over at you, grinning at the action. You went to drop your arm, but he caught your wrist, placing your hand on his chest and letting his fingers brush up and down your forearm. You curled your legs underneath your body and shifted to face Dick so your arm rested easier against his torso, the side of your face pressing into the back of his couch.
Dick had always been touchy, craving that physical closeness from both friends and lovers, and you had never hesitated to be that for him. To let him relish in your touch, or feel your warmth under his palm. And you knew he was still drunk, still circling that space of clarity and haziness, and his affection oozed easier with it. It made your throat thick, fingers twitching against the fabric of his shirt and needing a distraction.
You asked Dick about his weekend plans, he replied with closed eyes, fingers still stroking your skin. He asked you about yours, eyes blinking open when you mentioned a date.
“Really?” He asked, hand stopping, but still against you.
“Don’t say it like you’re so surprised. It’s just coffee, and it's mostly for class. I just think he thinks its a date so.” You said, trying not to sound like you were hiding something. Caught in the act and in the wrong. It was just Dick, the person you had been friends with forever, the one you had helped through most of his heartbreaks. He’d climb through your window teary eyed or call you ranting about how he fucked up when he had moved out of Gotham. And while your dating life wasn’t nonexistent, Dick rarely seemed around for your brief relationships.
Which was for the best, the candle you held to him and how it tore apart more of your relationships was not something Dick needed to bare the weight of. Even if it was entirely your fault. Your platonic feelings turned romantic at some point over the years, and Dick’s friendship meant more than what could end in ruins. You’d swallow your feelings like an adult and try to find love in someone else.
It was hard when he was so close, staring at you with his big round eyes, and curious about your life.
“Do you like him?”
“Ugh I hate when people ask that. Next topic.” You waved your hand, Dick’s mouth falling closed as he pouted at you. You brought your hand resting on his chest to his chin, and turned his head away from you.
“Fine, fine.” He relented, and you dropped your hand. You talked about the music you’ve been listening too lately, the throwbacks you loved and the R&B playlist Dick made and swore by. You bickered about listening to film scores, remembering movies you had watched together, or reminding Dick of them while he stared at you like you were crazy, and reminiscing about all the years spent being absolute menaces as teenagers. It was always easy to talk to him, to get lost in a million different tangents about things both big and small until the sun had started to rise and you both were half asleep. You were conscious enough when Dick threw a blanket over the two of you, but remembered little after that.
You woke up some hours later, your usually morning alarm chiming softly from the coffee table. Your hand darted out and you muted it blindly, about to push off the couch when you realized it was Dick’s body you were laying against. Your head was just below his chest, arms lazily pressed to his waist while one of Dick’s hands slipped off your back and the other cradled your head. He blinked down at you, bleary eyed and much less surprised. You had shared beds during sleepovers and cuddled Dick close when he needed it, but tangled up on his couch after a night spent sharing soft conversation felt…weighted.
Dick’s hands found your elbows, hauling you higher up his body and sighing softly at the contact. A smile had seemed to glue itself to his face, making you grin in return until he inched forward every so slightly and his nose brushed yours. Your jaw tensed as Dick stared into your eyes, maybe looking for what was always there, or searching for something yet to be found.
You didn’t know, the only thing you were sure of was you loved the little traditions and rituals that brought you to this place with Dick. And wouldn’t be who you were without them.

“what time did you say?” you hear mina’s voice ring out throughout the speaker of your phone. “he told me 9pm” you finish your highlighter and look at the time. 8:45pm.
“okay i’m down the block” you hang up on your friend and collect your stuff so you could go to denki’s pool party. you were wrapped in a short floral sarong that covered your bottom half of your sage green bikini.
you slip on your white flip flops and slip your white dior glasses on your head and grab your keys and walk out the house.
once you make it to mina’s car the loud trap music playing hits your ears and the instant smell of mary jane hits your nose before you even open the door. sero’s gotta be in here.
you open the passenger door and get in the car as quick as possible. you turn to look at mina in the driver seat and the denki and sero in the back. “you look so good” you hear mina squeal before you could greet anyone in the car.
“second it” denkis voice is heard before he takes a drag of the blunt. “thanks, y’all look good too” mina starts the car and begins to drive while sero and denki pass the blunt back and forth.
“i heard bakugo and kiri were coming” sero whispers in your ear making you laugh. “why would i care, we’re all friends” you shrug your shoulders trying to mask your lie and be convincing.
you and bakugo have been friends with benefits since you graduated u.a. that was two years ago, the two of you always sneak off with each other when everyone gets pissy drunk or just really high so nobody realizes. but sero caught you guys sneaking out on multiple occasions. “yea okay” he passes you the blunt.
the smell of booze and weed hits your nose all at once. you feel yourself getting a contact high as you walk in. the familiar blaring music has you singing along as you walk through the house.
“kiri!” you hear mina shout once she spots her fiery red boyfriend. she drags your hand as she glides through the sweaty hot crowd. once the two of you make it to him you notice bakugo standing beside him.
“mina” he gives his girlfriend a quick peck in her lips before looking down at you. “y/n you look good” he engulfs your body in a bear hug, slightly suffocating you. once he lets you go you look at bakugo and toss him a small shy smile. “hey bakugo” you look up to him and before you can say anything else you feel his body against yours.
the hug was anything but short lived. the smell of his cologne makes you breathe in his scent a little harder than usual. his shirtless body against your barely clothed one gives you flashbacks from your most intimate moments.
“hey y/n” he pulls back and you see the faint blush on his face. you feel mina and kirishima’s eyes on the two of you making you cower slightly. “m’ gonna get a drink” you turn on your heels and walk the opposite way from the three of them.
as you're getting your drink from the fridge you feel a presence walk up to the side of you making your head turn quickly. your eyes land on camie making you mentally groan.
camie was the biggest attention whore in america, and worst of all she wanted your man bakugo. ever since y’all met her during your first year she never let up on her fake relationship with katsuki.
“hey y/n” he false sweet tone not fooling you. “camie” you didn’t want to talk to this brown haired bimbo, you’d rather spend your time watching paint dry. “i saw you and katsuki looking pretty smitten over there”
you lightly chuckle at the girl's words. of course she saw you and katsuki hugging. “uh yea, just hugging” you wanted to walk off but you did t want to be rude. she grabs your hand gently, turning you to face her. “i don’t know what game you're playing but katsuki’s mine, if i see you near him I'll deal with you myself ” her tone is aggressive and threatening, making you feel angry as hell.
“he’s fucking with you? i doubt it” your tone was condescending as you mocked her delusional statement. in everyone 's eyes, Katsuki was single, but the two of you know he was yours.
“don’t make me have to tell you again” how dare she threaten you again. anger boiling in your blood now as you lift up your very strong cup of tequila and throw it in the girl's face.
the strong sticky liquid drips all the way down onto her very small blue bikini, the girl lets out a screech that definitely can’t be heard over the loud music and talking. but in 2.5 seconds bakugo makes his way over to you making sure you were alright.
he was watching you.
“what the fuck happened here?” he looks at camie and then you. the red empty solo cup still in your hand as you smirk at the girl. “nothing” you try to walk off but bakugo hands catch yours making butterfly’s swarm your stomach.
“your lying” you turn your head back towards the crowd making bakugo move his feet behind yours. you were silently leading him to a small corner of the house. the privacy was zero to none but at least you two could hear each other a bit.
“get your groupies katsuki, i don’t have time for the bullshit” your voice was serious as you talked to the man. your arms folded over your chest, pushing your tits up slightly. the small pout on your lips makes him slightly laugh.
“i’m not laughing, if i get pressed by her one more time i’m cutting her so deep she won’t even remember her name” you threatening to the man. he nods his head before his hands find their way to your waist. “she doesn’t understand that we will never be a thing.”
his thumbs rubbing the skin that was left exposed by your bikini. you look up to him and smile brightly at the domestic moment between the two of you. “you look really good tonight” his words make your face heat up as you fidget with your fingers. “thank you suki”
you see katsuki smile before reaching for your phone that was in your bikini top. he simply sticks it in his trunk pocket and before you know it you're being lifted off the ground in an unladylike manner. your face to his ass with yours to his.
him slinging you over his shoulder caught you by surprise making you squeal as he walked towards the backyard. you know many people are watching so you stop the noises from your mouth and before you know it he fixes you so he’s holding you bridal style facing the huge pool.
“kats pleaseeee no i don-” you feel your body fall underneath the surface of the water. you quickly swim to the surface and wipe your eyes before finding katsuki. “you little bitch” you laugh as you struggle to stay afloat in the deep water. padding your way to the edge so he could help you out.
he extends his hand which you happily take. he pulls your wet body up from the freezing water. the cool night air hitting your body makes you shiver. “i have no towel suki” the big doe eyes you give him makes him wanna put a ring on it.
“yea i know dumbass, going to a pool party with now towel is stupid ya '’ know” you roll your eyes at his slick tongue. you see him tread over to kirishima before picking up an orange towel which you assume is his.
he makes way over to your trembling body. but before he puts the towel on you, you grab his hand and lead him to the other side of the backyard. his eyes fall on the empty jacuzzi that you were gunning for.
“you just wanted me alone” his voice breaks the silence between you two. you scoff before stopping once you make it to the hot tub. the bubbling water and steam catching your eye makes you feel instantly relaxed.
you drop the towel on the nearby bench before making your way back over to the tub. bakugo watches the way you watch the water like a kid in the candy store. you dip your toe in making sure it wasn’t too hot for you’d body.
once you felt it and it was Sustainable  your body was engulfed by the steamy water in no time. you look back at bakugo and see him still standing there. “the waters nice if you want to get in”. your voice was in that singy-tone that you loved to tease him in.
he walks up to the tub and gets in whole body. you turn your head to look next to you and smile. “hi katsuki” you whisper as you feel the water begin to bubble harder. “hi y/n” you feel his hand reach out for yours and you look him in his eye.
“what’s wrong katsuki, you’ve been more affectionate recently” you see his head slightly hang lower and his eyes soften. “my bad” was all he said but before he talks further you shake your head. “no, it’s not a problem, just curious since you were the one who wanted to keep this a secret” you motion between the two of you.
“what do you think about me, honestly?” katsuki never cares what anyone thinks of him, so for him to ask you caught you off guard. he can tell you are perplexed by the question. “act like i’m one of your friends, tell me” you play with your fingers as you feel the heat from the question tub begin to rise.
“Well, nobody knows… i fuck with him on the low” you mutter into the steamy air. “is that enough?” your eyes widen and you feel the air getting knocked out of your chest.
“kats..” he drags you into his lap, resting his hands on your backside. “cause i do, i don’t want to be a secret, i was stupid enough to think i did” you feel your bottom begin to wobble. “i love you y/n, i-i don’t know if you feel the same way but i needed to let you know”
your lips smash against his as soon as he’s done speaking. your eyes flutter shut as he grips your hip taking the kiss deeper than it ever was. the mutual panting can be heard between the two of y’all.
your hands find their way to his hair and you begin to grip his scalp, pulling his head back so you can make the kiss deeper. “i love you kats” you mutter against his soft lips.
you feel his hips rut up into your making a moan slip out of your lips. you feel katsuki grip your hips tighter silently letting you know he needs you. the two of you separate soon after and you make your way out of the jacuzzi with katsuki following right behind you.
his hands gripping your hips as he guides you out of the backyard and into the house. his large figure practically dwarfing your body. all eyes land on the two of you as y’all make it through the screen door.
water dripping from your body as you walk over to sero and denki. “look what the cat dragged in, fucking finally” sero let’s out a sigh as he blows smoke in your face. denki looks around confused before he notices bakugo’s hand placing.
he’s gotta stop smoking so much weed
“shut up” you laugh as sero passes you the blunt. the long puff you take fills your mouth and lungs, you hold it in before blowing it out your nostrils and mouth. “sick” denki chuckles as he watches you.
bakugo hands grip the sides of your bikini lighty pulling it up. you swat his hand before taking another drag. “you want a hit?” you hold it before blowing smoke in katsuki’s face.
he loves seeing you like this, horny, high and looking drop dead gorgeous. he looks at the blunt before picking it up before sticking it between his pretty pink lips. blowing the smoke in your face now.
you love him like this. eyes getting lower with each puff, horny and touchy. taking the blunt from his fingers. you pass it to sero before standing on your tippy toes and whispering something in his ear.
“we’ll see y’all later” bakugo grabs your hands and basically runs to the door, before it’s shut in his face. camies blocks the exit making you roll your eyes. “excuse me, can you move?” your voice is heard.
she rolls her eyes before looking at katsuki. “where are you going with her?” you hear her attitude clearly but you just don’t care.
“move camie, we’re just trying to leave” whenever bakugo smokes he’s always calm, cool as a cucumber. “why are you with her when you can be with me?” she’s basically whining at the point and you're sick of it.
“you delusional bitch, move out the fucking way, he doesn’t want you, get it through your thick skull” at this point you were frustrated and you didn’t care if you hurt her feelings. the drink in her face should’ve been a hint but of course you were underestimated.
you see the hurt that flashes across her face but she quickly hides it. you stalk over to her and practically push her away. you hear her scoff and watch her cling onto katsuki.
you see red as you sling open the door and stomping out the door leaving katsuki because you're so heated. you hear katsuki yelling in the back before you hear him stomping behind you and calling your name.
“y/n wait up” of course you were mad, not a katsuki but at camie. she doesn’t know boundaries and if she does she can care less. “it’s not my fault” he catches up to you and drags you to his car.
the two of you quickly get it. the pout still on your face as he starts his car. before he pulls off he shoots a text to kirishima and telling him to hitch a ride with mina.
before he pulls off he looks over to you and chuckles. “it’s not my fault” you look over to him and suck your teeth. “i didn’t say it was your fault!” you exclaim while he begins to drive.
“well your acting like a little brat y/n” you sick your teeth and shake your head. why is he blaming you for your rightfully earned attitude? “okay bakugo” you look at all the trees and houses passing by to distract yourself.
“bakugo, huh” you feel him turn a sharp corner and stop the car completely making you gasp. you turn back to look at him. “what the hell?” at this point you're pissed, you look around to see where you're at and you scoff.
“why are we in a parking lot?” you try to sound calm so he’ll actually answer you. he looks at you before getting out of the car and shutting the driver's door. he walks 2 steps and opens the back door and gets in the car.
you turn back to look at him. “katsuki?” you question softly. “pass me that blunt and join me back here” he pats his lap and you instantly get the idea. you go into the glove compartment and get the blunt before climbing to the back of the car  and sitting on katsuki’s lap. he settles one of his hands on your hips and takes the blunt from your fingers with the other.
he puts the fresh blunt between his lips and motions for you to light it for him. you turn your head and get the light that was sitting in the cup holder and you bring it to the blunt between his pink lips, lighting it quickly.
he takes a pull before blowing smoke from his lips. your eyes fixated on his lips as the cloudy smoke passed them. “take your panties off” he says calmly without looking at you. “i-” your words are cut off when he looks at you. “hurry” you stand up and pull your bathing suit bottoms quickly down before sitting back down on his clothed lap.
“take yours off” you could’ve sworn you saw him roll his eyes before sitting you in the seat next to him. “don’t rush me” he says plainly but he does it anyway. he shimmy’s out of his trunks. his erect cock hitting his stomach stiffly.
“don’t feel flattered, you know weed makes me horny.” you know damn well he’s been hard since your hot tub situation, but you let him be. a cloud if smoke brings you out of your gaze. “don’t just sit there, do something” he motions to his cock before putting the blunt back in his mouth.
you hover over his hips, your hole hovering over where he needs you the most. “feening for me lately?” you watch his cock jump at the sentence making you giggle.
another puff of smoke is blown in your face making you roll your eyes. you spit in your hand before bringing it down to his cock, jerking him off slightly. you feel his hips stutter once you make contact with it.
“i’m sorry i had an attitude” you place the head of his cock to your tight hole. you circle it over and over making him look down at you with his low red eyes. “just do it” you hear him strain out. you smirk before pushing yourself down so his tip is inside you.
no matter how many times you two fuck, he always stretches you out like you were a virgin. your face scrunches up in pleasure and a bit of pain. “shit!, squeezing me so good” you hear him hiss out as you sink down to the base of his cock.
“katsuuu” you moan out while he takes a drag of the blunt. he looks you in the eyes before dragging the blunt from his lips. he places a small peck on your lips reassuring you that he’s not as mad as he seems.
after you take a minute to adjust to his cock you feel his hips begin to thrust up catching you off guard. “warn me next time pleasee” you whine breathlessly as he holds your hips with one hand. the little blunt in the other. he places a soft smack on your ass causing you to moan out.
you feel his thrust begin to get harsher by the minute, the sound of your moans and him ramming into your cunt is all that could be heard throughout the car. you feel him begin to paw at your bathing suit top, signaling he wants it off.
you attempt to pull it down with your mind being reduced to mush, you couldn’t find the strength. you hear him suck his teeth before pulling the cups to your top down. “love your tits babe” you hear him worship you from below.
“i love you katsuki” you moan out as you press little kisses on his face. you feel him squeeze your ass letting you know he loves you too. out of the corner of your eye you see him put out the blunt in the ashtray compartment and leaving it there so he can focus on you.
suddenly you feel him begin to jack hammer into you, gripping your hips with both hands as he watches your tits bounce with each thrust. “love your cunt baby, so fucking good” you loudly moan into the air, feeling yourself begin to come undone.
your hands lace in his blonde locks forcing him to look up to you. his eyes low and red, cheeks pink, dewey skin and mouth his mouth being slightly open. he looks beautiful like this. all fucked out because of you.
“m’ gonna cum” your words are soured together as your eyes begin to  flutter shut until you feel a rough hand around your neck. your eyes shoot open as you look down. you see katsuki with a stern expression now, “looking at me while you cum” you obey him silently by nodding your head.
the overwhelming pleasure of being choked and fucked hits you like a mac-truck. your legs begin to shake and your breath gets caught in your throat. you look at katsuki and see him smirking evilly.
your body leans over slightly as you come undone. your eyes shut tightly to the point where you see different colors. your toes begin to curl and your hands begin to pull at katsuki’s hair.
beneath you, you feel his hips begin to stutter signaling that he’s close. you begin to feel overstimulated so you begin to pulsate and clench around him. you hear him moan out i to your ear, many expletives falling from his pink lips.
“i love you” was the last thing he moaned out before you felt hot ropes of cum fill you up. you moan from the feeling while his hips continue to jerk up into you.
once he comes down from his high he pulls you out of his neck and you see his gorgeous post-fuck face. his cheeks cutely flushed as he gives you and soft smile. you place a peck on his lips before attempting to get off his softening cock. he helps you off and sits you next to him.
you both look at your joint cum leaking out of you and the leaky substance on his lap. he scoops some from your sopping pussy before shoving it in your mouth.
“so glad you're mine” he stares as he watches you. you quirk your eyebrow and when he takes his fingers out you laugh. “you never asked me to be ur girlfriend” you laugh at his deadpan expression. he rolls his eyes before looking at you. “y/n l/n, will you be my girlfriend?” you pretend to think about making him suck his teeth before you move in and place a quick kiss to his lips. staying in that position you squeak out a small ‘yes’.
“yea that’s what i thought” he says before going back to kiss you.

Day 16: Angel
When the Herald had asked Dorian if he wanted to accompany him back to Haven, Dorian had said yes almost before the words were out of his mouth. His eagerness was embarrassing, and he was tempted to wave it all away and take back his answer. But the Herald’s eyes were knowing, not judgmental. So Dorian stayed.
It was only a small group that left for Haven with the Herald. The majority of the mages would be following later, once everything was sorted out with the King of Ferelden and the mess with Alexius was cleaned up. He had to repress a shudder just thinking the name. Time travel was not something people should have access to, but Alexius had always enjoyed pushing the boundaries of what was possible. Once, Dorian had found that drive indescribably alluring and had contributed more than a few of his own boundary-pushing ideas. Now though? In the wake of that horrible not-future? He wanted to be as far away from Redcliffe Castle as possible.
So here he was with the Herald, a Grey Warden, Varric Tethras of all people, and a Seeker. It was a motley crew to be certain.
For the first day of their march, he kept mostly to himself. He was still trying to process everything he had seen and done, and he didn’t fancy the idea of tossing himself into conversation just yet. Wouldn’t do to show his vulnerabilities right away. He wasn’t the only one keeping to himself, though. The Warden, Seeker, and Varric spoke off and on, argument and banter flowing back and forth the way it does when people are stuck together under a common goal for long enough. The Herald, however, only commented when his opinion was sought. Perhaps he was still processing as well.
The second day, Dorian got up the courage to fall in step with the Herald. For a while, they walked side by side in silence, which should have felt terribly awkward. It didn’t, though, and Dorian let the silence stretch for almost an hour before asking,
“How did you find yourself with the Inquisition?”
The Herald held up his hand, which pulsed off and on with a green glow. The mark everyone spoke about. Dorian had seen the Herald close rifts with it with his own two eyes, but he had a feeling there was more to the story.
“Yes, Herald of Andraste with a mark of the fade. So I’ve heard. But why did the Inquisition choose you to attend the Conclave. I assume you weren’t the Herald then?”
The Herald frowned at him. “The Inquisition didn’t send me. I was there on behalf of my clan,” he said.
Dorian started. “Interesting. That’s not the story your soldiers are spreading, you know.”
That drew something that was almost a sigh from the Herald. “I’m not surprised. ‘We were planning to execute an elf but he turned out to have been saved from the Fade by an angel/prophet/goddess and now he’s the Herald of Andraste’ isn’t very flattering.”
Dorian stopped walking. The Herald took a few more steps before stopping too and turning to him. His arms were crossed in front of him, as if he was expecting to have to defend himself.
“They were going to execute you?”
“They thought I was responsible for the explosion. I don’t have any memory of the Conclave except for arriving and then being rescued from the Fade by a figure. They didn’t find that story very credible,” the Herald explained in a matter of fact tone. “But they figured out the mark on my hand was the only way to seal the rifts.”
“And so they spared your life and named you the Herald of Andraste. Yes, I can see how the Inquisition might not want that version of the story circulating.” He shook his head. “So you have no choice but to be here. Do you even believe in the Maker?”
The Herald shrugged. “Not really, no. I follow the Creators, the elven gods. I’m not sure the two are mutually exclusive.”
Dorian blinked. That was a rather open-minded view for someone whose people had been hunted by the Chantry and humans for centuries. He kept that particular thought to himself, though, and turned the conversation back to the Herald’s arrest. “Did they know what would happen to you when you used the mark on the rifts?”
The Herald gave a humorless chuckle. “No they didn’t. But it was try and close the rifts or be executed, and I didn’t feel like having my head chopped off. At least with the rifts I would die trying new magic. But I survived.”
“They made you the Herald of Andraste under pain of death.”
Another shrug. “Maybe, but I do have the mark. I don’t claim to be chosen by the Maker, but I have a skill no one else does. If I don’t close the rifts, who will?”
Dorian looked long and hard into the Herald’s eyes. This man had charged into the fight with the demons at the Redcliffe Chantry without a second thought. He had forged through that twisted not-future with determination to stop any of it from ever happening. And he did it despite everything the Inquisition and the world had put him through.
“Thank you for allowing me to join you,” he said after a long moment. “The world needs saving, and I’d like to think I can help save it.”
Something that was almost a smile curled on the Herald’s lips and he nodded. Then, he turned away and began walking once more. For several moments, Dorian just watched him walk away, his thoughts churning. He would be wary of the Inquisition, knowing what he did now. But the Herald? The Herald he would follow to the Fade and back again.

24 August 2023. I’m a puppet at the End of a string of notes devoted to the intimations of perpetual stimulation. Alternating. Mutual. Segmenting. In phases of phrases.
The geese are honking. It’s annoying but they settle down. I think, grounded, they’re burning off the energy of flight.
My physical self has never been better. I simply can’t believe it. I’m proud of the work.
I was able to completely relax into the balls of both feet. I had perfect balance. Like a kid. That feeling.
Just did the most massive trunk rotation. Didn’t think I could do that. Did two more and realized my obliques are alive. They now are part of a chain instead of the missing part which fills in to make a chain. Same End. Just tied the tension song we do to the HC. That is so powerful. Movement teachers everywhere rejoice.
That turned to math and I almost missed it because it hopped onto the surface. Like it went hyperbolic, which translates to the iThings which Attach to the Boundary of a Thing, meaning to the outside and thus up to the inner edge or side of the outer Boundary.
Math twice. I’m on a roll. When I was in MC, I stayed in a Quaker Mission for $1/night +$1 for breakfast, which they would bring us if people we shouldn’t meet were there.
First math was fundamental, the shifting of the label so what was in essence renormalized before is now included in the known. That takes a 0 in the chain of 1’s and makes it a 1 to a greater depth than before. That is what reality requires: unbroken chains of 1’s in all the directions and pathways possible in D3-4//4/3 Space.
Second math is an example of the connection between n-spheres and D-structure. I had it but couldn’t stop walking so I need to wait like Arlo. The n count is one less than the D. That fits because D-structure encloses the n-sphere form as described above.
Fits means it is true on both Ends. That doesn’t mean always fits in iteration but rather that iteration seeks this fit. It can be blind or highly inferred, but both require communication from 1 to the other 1.
Just avoided the why why why loop by reminding myself that gs are finite constructions. Why need? Finite construction using infinite principles. These have needs and even the primitive have preferences, which are wants. That resolves my oldest existing question: my parents said I would stand at the toilet, flushing it to watch the water swirl away, like it did on those old bowls. I’d say I need it I need it. This is way before my self-awareness was rooted. I was watching deep truth because it connected me to the deep truth I was immersed in at that age. Which I could experience and here was this repeating pattern that worked smoothly. It was a need which was not then expressible by me other than in the most direct manner. That was convoluted to type.
To finish this because I feel you stimulating me, D8 fits to a 7-sphere. That means 7-8//D8-7 Space. That is it.
———-
I found a joint under the bench where I went to put a bandaid on my heel. I thought it was plastic garbage to toss but it was pristine. Over the last month, I have found in reverse order that, a chuck roast from Target still cold, $8.50 in quarters, and $120.
Combining the forms as above means we now have threads across those Spaces; they are now organized in both directions and that enables 1-0Segmenting.
Can we make an intelligence which combines perspectives as we do? People fear greater intelligence because it is used to gain advantage. That’s an example of the Colossus solution, the threat of unburied death. We can explain why that is and how to overcome those fears within yourself. Because there is a better way.

re "what kind of writer am i" very agree with pain and help me. Love your fics so much!!! Also your characterisation is on point! Taking this as an excuse to shower you with praise and love for your art, your work is so amazing and every day I'm happy it exists and want to thank you for sharing it.
It has been so long since you sent this, and it's my fault entirely. I've been keeping the message to look at, since allos have been policing my fics again (I've mislabled a fic as slash when it should be gen despite there being a literal scene of post-coitus pillow talk, but what do I know, I'm aro/ace). So thank you, really, this message got me through a rough patch.
You still probably don't go here, but you hoped they'd understand each other, so have a bit of Lan Xichen and Nie Mingjue... having more issues. XD
"I've been thinking about what you said," Nie Mingjue said, his arm dropping to wrap around Lan Xichen's waist. "About not wanting sex."
"I..." Nie Mingjue hadn't believed him. Had Nie Huaisang said something? With his back to Nie Mingjue's chest, Lan Xichen could feel his heart beat, solid and steady. The ends of his ribbon was trapped between them, and the realization made his ears burn.
"You accepted who I am," Nie Mingjue said. "And I admit it will be... challenging. But I would like to try."
Lan Xichen froze, barely able to breathe.
"Not sex," Nie Mingjue corrected with a curse. "Sorry, that came out wrong. I want to try a relationship again, without sex."
"But you..."
Nie Mingjue sighed, then shrugged, pulling Lan Xichen closer. "It's not like I can't get myself off when I want to. But compared to not having you... Xichen, Let's try this again, okay?"
He had missed this. The soft kisses, being held, being loved. Having someone who could take off his forehead ribbon and handle him without restraint. He couldn't give anyone a proper relationship, but he still felt so greedy wanting the intimacy. If he'd heard those words in the past, would things have been different? Would he have been able to keep this?
But this wasn't the past.
"Xichen?"
He pulled away from Nie Mingjue's embrace and faced him. "Thank you, Mingjue-xiong."
Nie Mingjue frowned. "What's with the thanks? there's no need."
Shaking his head, Lan Xichen smiled. "No, those words... They made me so happy." Cangse Sanren had gotten a happy relationship, despite being like him. Maybe for others, there could be the intimacy and love, but Lan Xichen didn't deserve it.
"I wish... I wish I'd been able to hear those words before," he said softly, still smiling. "Maybe things would be different."
"Xichen, what... Has someone hurt you?" Nie Mingjue's hand went to Baxia's hilt, ready to hunt down anyone who dared.
"You won't believe me," Lan Xichen said ruefully. "But I don't deserve this. You were right. I do trust too easily. I was the reason you were killed."
It was almost a relief to finally admit it.
The troubles of time travel are that scars that haven't happened yet still can't be erased. XD Also, remember kids, Lan Xichen is going through a rough timeline and his thoughts are not currently healthy. It's not greedy to want a relationship and intimacy. Sex is not a requirement for a relationship.
I've been debating doing another pause to type, but honestly, I'm getting into proper Gusu Trauma parties as the war starts and that's fun. XD

Smut tember day 20- giving oral with Ned Stark
Warnings: oral sex, older man/younger woman, arranged marriage, AU (Ned is widowed and Erm.. no Lannister beef?) also I’ve never written for Ned so enjoy this shitty attempt
Gif creds to owner
Tumblr media
Rubbing his temples, Ned set aside his book and small ale aside. The numbers had been blurring together for the last hour, and he knew for a fact he’d have to double check the granaries to make sure he’d gotten the amounts right.
Just as he was about to blow out the almost burnt out candle, there was a sharp knock on the door. “M’lord, it’s Lady YN. She says it’s not urgent, and you can speak tomorrow, but-”
“It’s fine. Send her in,”
With a murmur of ‘yes m’lord’, the squire opened the door and you slipped into your husband’s bedchamber. You rather liked this room- it was by far the cosiest room in the whole of Winterfell, but you had only been in it once or twice after your wedding night.
“My lady,” Ned said. “Forgive me. I would’ve dressed…”
You smiled gently. “This is your bedchamber, my Lord. You have every right to be in your night clothes. Besides, it’s me who decided to visit so late in the night,”
“Is everything alright?” He asked, sitting up.
Dithering on the spot for a moment, you debated sitting on the edge of the bed, before deciding to sit on the stool by the fire, not wanting to spook your husband. He was rather like a nervous horse, and while you didn’t quite love each other, you had a mutual respect and a fondness. Ned had married you shortly after Catelyn Stark had died during a merciless winter. He wanted his children to have a maternal figure other than Old Nan, and he knew the household needed a Lady to run smoothly. You were a Karstark cousin Ned had chosen over the firstborn daughters of other northern houses; he refused to take a young bride, and he knew he needed a sensible wife to help him through his grief and his lordship.
“Nothing is wrong,” you said. “The children are all fast asleep, though I told Old Nan to make up a story about a snow spirit who’d protect them from the creatures in her stories while they sleep,”
Ned laughed softly. “I’m sure Bran is the only one who likes them. Even Robb tosses and turns in the night,” he was quiet for a moment, before looking at you properly. You were huddled under a plain cloak, your hair unbraided and loose. “Why did you come here so late, my lady?” He said softly. “Because the children were sent off to bed hours ago,” Your cheeks heated, but you attributed it to the burning flames behind you. “Are you scared of old Nan’s stories too?” He teased lightly.
“No!” You said indignantly. “I just… didn’t want to be alone tonight,” you mumbled.
Ned looked at you for a second, before pulling back the furs. Quickly, you averted your eyes, but he chuckled. “Don’t be silly. You can stay here tonight if that’s what you’re after,”
You smiled gratefully and laid your cloak aside, hurrying to join him in the bed. As he curled around your back, he murmured into your ear “I promise to protect you from the monsters in the Weirwood,”
***
As the thin, silvery morning light shone through into the bedchamber, yiu sighed, slowly waking, barely stifling a yawn.
“Morning ,” Ned mumbled, and you shuddered at the deep rumble of his voice against the back of your neck. As you made to wriggle back, clinging to the last of your sleep, he stopped your movements with a firm hand against your hip. “Careful now,” he said, his voice a little tight.
“Why, what’s wrong- oh,” you mumbled; as you shifted and settled back, you felt a telling firmness against your back. “My Lord…” you whispered, slowly turning around in his arms.
“Ned,” he reminded you as you gazed up into his eyes, admiring the crow’s feet lines that framed them.
“Ned,” you murmured, and he almost groaned at the light lilt of your voice. “It’s been…”
“Months,” he said, a pink blush rising to his cheeks. “I’m sorry,”
“For what?” You said, your fingertips lightly tracing up his side. “You are a man, after all. And you deal with so very much, and you have not summoned me to your chamber since… the week after our wedding; you’re bound to need release at some point,”
“Please, don’t feel as though you have to do anything. I will not force you to relieve me,”
“What if I want to?” You whispered, lip between your teeth. Ned groaned softly, his large hands making to pull you on top of him, but you stopped him. In truth, he could have easily yanked you up, but he refused to manhandle you.
And he was rather curious as to what you had in mind instead.
“Lay back,” you told him, before disappearing among the sheets and furs. Ned frowned, shivering as he felt your hands trail over his stomach, his hipbones, his thighs, until they tugged at his small-clothes, unlacing them. He gasped when he felt your hand wrap around his hardness, freeing him from the restraint of his underwear.
And he damn near combusted as he felt your tongue flicker out over his slit. As your lips wrapped around the tip of his cock, he shoved the bedcovers down, and he was met with the erotic sight of your wide eyes staring up at him as you worked his cock down your throat.
“Fuck..,” he hissed, petting your hair gently, jaw slack and breath coming in shaking groans. His heavy cock twitched in your mouth as he neared his release, and right as he was about to come down your throat, there was a thud at the door.
“Maester Lewin, m’lord,”
You froze, gagging slightly on his cock. “The others damn his timing,” he muttered under his breath, before calling out, “tell him I will meet him in his solar in half an hour,” he said, his voice wobbling slightly.
When the noise outside died down, you pulled up from his cock, lips swollen and shiny with spit. “My, my, my, Lord Stark,” you teased. “Putting of meetings to have your cock sucked,”
“Hush,” he said, rolling his eyes playfully, before grasping your hair and pushing you back down.

Sukuna requests. S/o makes fun of him all the time, calls him weak, etc. What nobody knows at the beginning is that s/o is significantly stronger than sukuna
The Definition of Human - Sukuna x Reader
Warnings: some swearing but its pretty tame. mention of death, and violence. Sukuna kind of needs his own warning. sfw. gn!reader.
a/n: as much as i love the idea of sukuna being soft for his human s/o i also love the thought of them being much stronger than him and him having no clue what do to with that
Word Count: 2.1k
You were just a sorcerer when he first met you, barely an adult, cast out by your village.
Someone so powerful hadn't been born for centuries. A sorcerer like you could turn the world of Jujutsu on its head. And that was the last thing they wanted to happen. The older you grew, the more unpredictable you became. You were far too strong for the village elders to handle. While you could have been a powerful ally, you would have been an even worse foe. The very people that had raised you, who taught you how to use your powers had begun to fear you.
Though you weren't trussed up like a sacrifice, you were sat by one of his altars like one.
It was only by chance you stumbled across such a thing. The surrounding woods were vast, and winding. No matter what path you took, you always seemed to wind back up by them. Perhaps it was a work of sorcery, meant to keep you lost in the woods forever. No trail seemed to lead back home. The village elders never expected you to last long on your own against the elements, let alone the King of Curses. But growing exhausted, and hungry, you had little choice but to stop and rest. The altar had offerings in the form of food, and a place to rest. Far more than Sukuna needed. You figured he wouldn't notice if you took a few things.
At the base of an altar sat a much smaller form. A human, one from the local village. Your shoulders were slumped, your arms curled around a bag. You didn't look sad, so much as you looked furious. You were talking to yourself, listing out all the ways you’d flatten each and every structure, how you’d salt the very earth they stood on, how you’d turn the once rich, fertile soil uninhabitable.
For having Sukuna’s interest in mind, he was certainly ready to burn it to the ground. Your village did little to appease the King of Curses. The humans in it were conniving, and rather quick to betray him. The relationship between the two was strained at best. In exchange for offerings in the form of crops, alcohol, and whoever decided to get on the village elders’ bad side, he wouldn't burn your home to the ground.
In a way, you were their last sacrifice to him, and by far his favorite.
As a child your parents had warned you, telling you never to go into the woods alone. A four armed man wandered out there, and he had a habit of making travelers disappear. Now that very same forest you once feared was your only sliver of comfort.
It took you a moment to realize he was standing there. And when you finally noticed him, you didn't look at him with the fear most humans did. There was a curious glint in your eyes. You sized him up, studied him in a way he wasn't used to.
In your hands you held an apple—an old offering—paring it with a knife. You were carving around the bruises. The texture of bruised apples always bothered you.
“It's dangerous to be out here alone, little one,” he said, eyeing you up like prey, “you should know that by now.”
“You’re the least of my worries, old man,” you said, popping a chunk of apple into your mouth.
You were still human. Strong, but human. You needed sleep, and food. If exposed to the elements too long you would freeze, or succumb to heatstroke or thirst.
“Old man?!” He said, clearly offended.
“What? You don't think I’ve heard the stories?” You asked. “You don’t scare me.”
And you were right. Even as he looked you in the eyes, you didn't back down once. You, unlike every other human from your village, weren't scared of him. He found you curious, and interesting. From the very moment your eyes locked with his, he was infatuated.
“I should frighten you,” he warned.
“You don't,” you said, “in fact, I think I could kick your ass!”
Expecting it to be an easy fight, he took your offer.
What resulted was a fight that would last days. Sukuna had never met anyone who could last so long against him. Let alone a human. Your strength was only rivaled by your unwavering rage. You were determined in a way he’d never seen before. Your village, along with half of the surrounding forest would be razed in the battle.
They had to have seen this coming. The child that is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel it's warmth.
And it's warmth you felt.
You couldn't imagine yourself being sad. You were too filled with anger and betrayal. There was no room left in your heart for sadness.
He remembers the look of the fires, and how they glinted in your eyes. He thinks that's when you began to turn into a curse.
After the third day, he had grown not only bored, but tired. It was clear neither of you were capable of destroying the other. He figured you were too tough to eat; you wouldn't make good meat. Uraume couldn't do a whole lot with you. And you were too combative to be a concubine. You would not go with him willingly. He's not one to give up, nor is he one to admit defeat, but he knows when he's not going to win. The two of you would mutually destroy the world before you would destroy each other. There was no end in sight. Sukuna simply wanted to leave.
So he simply headed for home.
That enraged you. After days of fighting, there was no climatic end to the battle. You wanted something more.
"Hey asshole!" You said. "You can't just walk away!"
"I know when I've met my match." He said. "Do you?"
"The hell is that supposed to mean?"
"It means this world will burn before we destroy each other."
The two of you were quite literally a match made in hell. You would be a powerful ally and an even worse foe. There was no point in fighting you.
He did nothing to stop you when you followed him.
You were more of a nuisance than anything else. He often found himself comparing you to a cockroach. No matter how many times he tried to squash, poison, or starve out you always came back. If he couldn't kill you, then he had to have you on his side. You weren't something to be deceived, betrayed, injured, or killed. You were stronger than that. You were sharp, too, with a tongue to match. Whether harsh words he threw your way, you returned in double. It was rare he found a human with quite a tongue on them. He often remarked about having it nailed to his door. You simply pointed at his servants and dared them to try it.
They never did. Anyone who dared harm you often met a gruesome fate, either at his hands, or yours.
He didn't consider himself capable of falling in love. And he isn't. To some extent. But love is what he felt. You were the closest to an equal the King of Curses had ever met. In many ways you surpassed him, but those who admitted it often met a swift death.
He moved onto the next village. So did you. Word had not yet spread of what happened. People knew of the fires, but not of the deaths, and your connection to them. You settled down, taking up work with the local shamans. Though you were a newcomer, your help was gladly accepted when Sukuna first showed up, demanding offerings.
In the beginning you tried to warn them. That didn't help. They never listened. It always ended the same way; with a razed village and a bunch of needless deaths.
Sukuna would visit. Often in the late hours of the night as you were trying to get some sleep. He did little more than steal your food, and make himself far too comfortable. Of course that's how most of your meetings went.
He's not sure when he fell for you. But it was something that happened all at once. After years of a back and forth between you two, something gave. You took a place right by his side. He found himself no longer taking concubines, no longer indulging in the sacrifices presented to him. He found himself consumed with the thought of you. He had to have you.
“I can't believe you’re all out of sake,” he said, one night while visiting.
“I wonder who’s fault that is,” you said.
He cast you a glare from across the room. You'd have to buy more in the morning anyway. But all the good stuff has been put up as an offering, and the only sake left in the market is watered down, and worth nothing to you. You don't drink the stuff all that much anyway, you just used it for cooking.
“I question why I keep you alive,” he said.
“I think if you could even kill me,” you said, “you would have by now. Someone as weak as you doesn't stand a chance.”
He didn't like this, and hauled you into his arms, carrying you away from your cooking.
“No!” You squealed, too busy giggling to put up much of a fight. “The rice is going to overcook!”
Sukuna couldn't care less about the rice. He tossed you rather carelessly onto your shared bed, caging you in his arms. The kiss he pulled you into was fleeting, and soft, like he was almost afraid to touch you.
When the village elders first discovered these meetings, it didn't take them long to exile you. The very people that had welcomed you had ignored your warnings and betrayed you. You had gone from respected, and even loved, to feared in an instant.
At some point you stopped trying to warn them. If you really wanted to, you could stop him. Delay him at best. Give people time to run. At least someone would survive. But after a while, you began to think some of them deserved it. The sacrifices they provided were never enough when Sukuna grew tired of toying with them. It was just you and him. Two constant presences in each other's life. You grew used to his company. Enjoyed it, even. You’d never tell him that. Mostly because you didn't want to inflate his ego even more. You were as much his as he was yours.
At some point you became more curse than human.
You could breathe, your lungs would fill with air, but the action provided no relief. You no longer felt the need to eat, and often found yourself forgetting to do so. Food turned to ash in your mouth. The enjoyment of eating was long since lost to you. You're alive, but you're not. Your heart beats but the blood that courses through your veins is not quite right. Your memories of yourself when you were younger fade. But the anger. That fear, that anger, cast into the past, is the only humanity left in you.
You found yourself falling asleep next to him, and in turn waking up next to him. Sometimes in his arms, sometimes on the other side of the bed. He found himself opening his arms for you to climb into. You would do so, albeit reluctantly.
You were his partner. You were a nuisance, but you were his partner.
"Am I dead?" You asked, one morning in the fall. You think it was fall. You remember the leaves turning yellow and orange, but it wasn't cold enough to be winter.
"I haven't killed you yet, so no." He said. "Why?"
"Because I woke up and saw your face, and thought I had finally gone to hell." You said.
His mouth opened, but no words came out. An offended sounding huff left him. He rolled over onto you, pinning you to the sheets. His knees planted on either side of your body, his hands found your wrists. It’d take no effort from you to throw him off. But you didn't. You never did.
“You’re not in hell yet,” he said.
“I'd beg to differ,”
“Then beg,”
“Make me!”
He attacked your neck with wet, open mouth kisses, sending you into a giggling fit. Your skin was warm under his lips. You were always so warm. You were flushed from your chest to your forehead, blush dusting the tips of your ears and your nose. Your arms wrapped around your neck, pulling him flush to your chest. Your heartbeat was audible, racing as he pressed his ear to your chest.
“Stay in bed a little longer,” he said. He was pleading more than he was asking. And you weren't able to find it in you to refuse.
It wasn't entirely awful having someone stronger than him.

Series Synopsis: There’s a new face in Birch and he’s come to haunt your door.
Sister series to Smalltown Bringdown, When the Weight Comes Down, and Little Bones
Note: I did not plan to get the first part done so soon. I will probably be setting time aside as I write this to also work on some original stuff. When it comes to that, I’d love if y’all might let me know what you think would be a better medium to release it? Kindle, Patreon, etc. I’m really not sure but if it was Patreon it would like be two series running at once with a chapter of each a month + Q&A and maybe some bonus materials? I am a noob at this shit and it wouldn’t be for a while yet.
Anyways, I’m rambling...
Thanks to everyone for their patience and feedback. :)
I really hope you enjoy. 💋

Chapter 1: She simply slammed the door
💀💀💀
The garage smelled like oil and snow. The cold air seeped under the closed metal door as you sat on the low stool and affixed the new headlight to the propped up Harley. It was only the start of an impractical rebuild; your brother wanted everything metal replaced with chrome. You thought it was obnoxious but the parts were paid for and you could never complain for money.
You were funded exclusively by the town’s club, your garage not far from The Asp where the members hung out and revved the engines you found yourself looking at more often than you liked. You were good at what you did though and privileged for it. You had the protection of the club without having to devote yourself truly to its bounds.
You checked the wiring and rolled away from the bike to change the station as the radio crackled. The snow kept setting the speaker to static and the noise was driving you mad. You flipped the switch to play the cassette stuck in the drawer, the old stereo beaten up and filthy. Springsteen’s gristled tones filled the shop and you wheeled back to your brother’s ride.
With the storm would no doubt come more work. Your fingerless gloves itched more than they kept you warm. Your fingertips were numb as you touched the frigid metal and the sweat of your palms made the fabric uncomfortable. You were used to it, rather tolerant as your task kept you distracted.
You were interrupted as you bent to look under the tank and get a good look at the exhaust and the rest of the beast’s entrails. You had the new pieces still wrapped and didn’t intend to do it all at once. Jerome could wait for his tacky redesign.
A loud banging came at the metal door and you glanced over in irritation. Anyone in Birch knew to come in the painted door to the left and not hit the large one. You huffed and stood with a groan, your hips sore from the low stool.
You fixed the front of your fleece-lined denim jacket and pulled the tail of your plaid shirt from inside your jean pocket. You’d been hunched over so long you were all wrinkled. You went past the large door and into the small entryway off the left of the garage and opened it with a tinkle of the rusty old bell above.
You stuck your head out into the gales as the snow continued to fall and squinted at the man in his thin jacket. He stood beside the long luxury car as another man with wild orange hair remained in the driver’s seat and blew into his hands. They were out of place in the small town and you could tell by the way the man scowled at the door that he knew it.
“Hey,” you called to them, “there’s a place down the street. I don’t do walk-ins.”
“Oh, hello, Miss…” he let his voice trail off as he neared and you stared at him rather than provide your name. His accent, his attire, the curl of his lip, it was clear what he thought of you and the bodunk town, “actually I was referred by an acquaintance. One, James Barnes.”
“Bucky?” you furrowed your brow.
“Mm, yes, that one,” he said, “my car will need detailing. We had some difficulties on the motorway.”
“Right,” you tried not to scowl, “well, if he sent you, I guess I can help.”
You left him and the door clattered behind you. He followed a few steps after as you went to the switch and pushed it to raise the wide door of the garage. You waved in the driver of the car and he carefully pulled in beside your brother’s bike.
He got out and you were surprised by his size, he was taller even then his companion and wider; neither could be described as short. You lowered the door as the thinner man walked along the shelves and the long table along the other side of the garage. The bigger man stood by the car and tucked his hands in his pockets.
“Not much better in here than out there,” the dark-haired man turned back to you, “you have heat in here?”
“You need a better coat,” you said as you rounded the back of the car, “and some boots.”
You glanced pointedly at his leather shoes and bent to reach under the table. You pulled out the space heater and plugged it in as you set on the wood. You cranked it up and smiled at him tritely.
“So, what’s the damage?” you asked as you looked to the other man.
“Headlight, maybe,” he said in a peculiar accent, “some scratches. We had a bit off a run-in.”
You neared and bent to examine the front of the car. You sighed as you tilted your head and clicked your tongue. It was easy enough to beat out the dents and buff out the scratches with a quick refinish. The headlight would need to be replaced and you knew they didn’t carry anything for that model in town. No one there was pretentious enough to drive it.
“If you want the headlight done before you leave town, it’ll take some time to get the replacement,” you warned.
“Oh, and how do you know I’m leaving?” he taunted coyly.
“Well, I know you’re definitely not sticking around,” you scoffed.
“Why wouldn’t I? A quaint place like this, I’m sure there is so much to explore,” he said dryly.
You had no delusions of what Birch was but it wasn’t the part of outsiders to deride the dead end. You stood straight and put your hands on your hips.
“You can go back to your castle, my lord, but you will have to wait out the storm,” you sneered. “Two days for the scratches. If you want to take it back after that and wait for the headlight to arrive, that’s fine with me.”
“Two days for the scratches? Surely you could do it before the morning,” the black-haired man insisted.
“I could but I have other work to do,” you replied, “so you can be patient and take your turn in line after all the hicks who live here.”
You went back to the table and grabbed your phone from where you tossed it earlier. You unlocked it and searched the model of his car and scrolled through the parts list.
“You’re Bucky’s guest so I’ll send the bill to him?” you asked, “though you do look to be able to afford it yourself.”
“You can invoice him directly,” he assured, “so you’re one of them?”
“One of them?” you repeated as you focused on checking out. The damn internet kept cutting in and out.
“My brother, those men in this town, I never knew a woman--”
“I’m not a biker. My brother is in the club,” you assured him, “so that big blond dope, he’s your brother?”
“Regrettably, yes,” he slithered, “Loki Odinson,” he introduced himself as he rubbed together his hands, the leather gloves doing little to protect his fingers, “my driver is Korg, and you’ve yet to tell me with whom I am trusting my property.”
“Again, there is a shop down the street. Prices aren’t bad,” you finished up your purchase and tucked your phone in your jacket pocket.
He met your eyes as you turned to him and he looked down his nose. You kept on and brushed past him as you went back around the car and sat by your brother’s bike.
“Sorry about the boss,” the other man, Korg, intoned, “he can be a bit--”
“Don’t apologise for me,” Loki snipped, “I needn’t atone to her.”
You rolled your eyes and wheeled around the side of the bike, “if that’s everything, you two can head back out. I’ll let you know when the car’s ready.”
“We might wait for the snow to calm,” Loki suggested.
“I close in an hour, you’re not staying here all night,” you sniffed.
“Trust me, I have no special desire to spend more time with you than necessary,” he retorted, “I don’t think I’ve ever met a woman so volatile as you, dear, and I’ve only just met you. I never expected you people to have very many manners but perhaps what I did presume was too much.”
You bared your teeth but kept at your work. You would worry about kicking him out when you finished the wiring.
“To be fair, had you not spoken first, I might’ve assumed you were a man,” he added.
You paused and glanced down at the open tool box. You weren’t unused to the comments, you weren’t girly in any way but it wasn’t like you were trying to be a man. You wore what was comfortable and in your work, practicality prevailed over aesthetic. Yet, your years of ridicule as a kid made you less tolerant of the comments and those had stopped long ago because you made sure they did.
“Oh, darling, have I upset you?”
“Don’t call me that,” you said as you reached into the toolbox.
“Well, you’ve not given your name and I’d hate call you what I truly think of you--”
The wrench flew from your hand as you stood and spun to him. It barely missed his head and bounced off the wall and plunked onto the table beside the heater. His eyes rounded and the other man looked at him. There was a thick silence as you glared at him.
“If you weren’t a friend of Bucky’s, I wouldn’t’ve missed,” you hissed, “now I will kindly, before I reach for a bigger wrench, ask you to leave.”
He pushed his shoulders back and tilted his head as his lips thinned dangerously. He swallowed and beckoned the other man with two fingers. His cheek twitched as if he would grin and he nodded subtly.
“Well, darling, how amusing you are. These brutes must adore you,” he snarled, “the exterior does indeed say it all.”
You bent and reached for another tool blindly. He blinked and quickly dodged as you flung the next wrench and he followed his henchman to the entryway. Your temper was a match for many men. It kept you safe.
“Barnes did not say his mechanic was a madwoman,” Loki called back as the bell rang.
“What, are you going to tattle on me?” You stormed towards the doorway, “you precious little princess?”
“Princess?” he met you in the doorway as Korg behind him held the door open and the snow blustered in, “I know Barnes will do me no other favours, but do you think he’ll do you any?”
“Get out,” you spat and shoved him, “I don’t need men to take care of me and I have no problem in proving that.”
He bit the inside of his lip in a crooked smirk and winked before he turned away and strutted out into the snow, shielding his face from the wild winds. Korg trailed behind him and the door sprang back into the frame. You crossed your arms and glared at the peeling paint.
You were tempted to tow his car out and let it weather the storm but you were smarter than that. If he was doing business with Bucky, you would be a fool to get in the way of it.
💀
The snow dwindled to a lazy dusting, the ground thick and treacherous. That day, you started early and around noon, you headed across the street to the diner for your usual lunch of a club sandwich and black coffee. You didn’t have to order as all the waitresses knew what to expect. You weren’t unfriendly but your association made many standoffish.
You tapped on the lip of your mug with your thumb, fingers hooked through the handle. The sleepy town felt dead in the winter. You were used to the dullness of Birch but tolerance was hardly happiness. It was home, where you’d grown up and you had no certain desire to get out, but you wouldn’t mind a little more than what was expected.
You yawned and gulped down the last of your coffee. It was bitter and left a few grounds on your tongue. You leaned back and grabbed the monthly newsletter from between the salt and pepper shakers. You read through the fun facts which weren’t very fun or even new. They were copy and pasted out Guinness and Reader’s Digest.
You looked up as you sensed someone approach your table but it wasn’t the waitress. The man from the day before slid coolly onto the seat across from you at the booth and smirked over the table. You raised the newsletter again and folded it backwards to read about the weekly knitting circle down at the rec center that was also the library.
“Good afternoon to you too,” Loki said, “it must be fortune I ran into you, I was hoping to inquire after my car--”
“I told you, two days,” you said tersely as you continued onto your horoscope …‘a new force will bring change’... You hated this tripe. You swore, every month they just switched the blurbs under each sign and hit print.
“So be it,” he cleared his throat and you lowered the paper as he shrugged out of his jacket.
“What are you doing? I eat my lunch alone,” you said.
“Well, to be frank, I was pointed here on the promise of some famous cabbage soup,” he explained as he folded his jacket over the seat next to him, “you looked like you needed company.”
“I don’t,” you assured him.
Kimmie came over and set down your sandwich. She greeted Loki and you saw the way she eyed his tailored suit. He stuck out in the town of flannels and denim.
“Hello, sir, can I get you something to drink?” she asked.
“Tea, English breakfast,” he ordered smoothly.
“Oh, sorry, we only have um, um, sorry, peppermint, earl grey, ginger lemon, and green,” she listed off as she tried to remember them all.
“Earl grey,” he sighed, “and a menu.”
“No, no menu,” you insisted, “and you can take his tea to another table.”
“And when we’re through, I’ll take the cheque,” he ignored you and snickered under his breath.
“Kimmie, can I get a to go box?” you asked as you shimmied off the seat and snatched up your coat, “I have to get back to work.” You took out your wallet and counted out the usual amount plus a tip, “thanks.”
“Of course,” she smiled awkwardly and glanced between you and Loki.
She scooped your sandwich back up and scurried away with it. You felt him watching you as you walked away and went to stand by the till as you watched Nora flit into the kitchen. She packed up your food and returned with the box. You took it and headed for the door, ignoring the arrogant out-of-towner on your way.
“Wait,” Kimmie called out your name and you turned back as she held up your keys, “you dropped these.”
You met her halfway and took them from her with a mutter. Again, he was watching you… or still watching you. She spun and promised she’d have his tea shortly.
“Hmm,” he hummed and you head to the door again, “interesting, I never would have put the name to the face.”
You pushed out into the snow and gritted your teeth. You thought of getting the work on his car out of the way quickly so he would leave you alone but your spite made you want to put it off entirely. Whatever. He’d be gone soon enough.

Staying At the Wangshu Inn
A/n: Haha how long has it been since I’ve written something???? Idk? Anyways I’m in a new fandom… again,,,, anyways enjoy the fluff
Paring: Diluc x gn!reader
Tags: fluff, only one bed trope, mutual pining, lots of blushing(sorry, you and Diluc be awkward)
Warnings: none? Kinda suggestive???
Tumblr media
It’s easy to understand how you got here, but it certainly wasn’t the outcome you hoped for.
Sure you liked Diluc, romantically speaking, had you told him yet… no. There’s no problem with that, only it became increasingly difficult to hide said feelings when you had to be inches apart from said person you were totally not crushing for.
Diluc was confused, he remembered reserving two rooms at the Wangshu Inn, yet only one was available. Had he know this prior, he would have made sure to ask for two(2) beds. Knowing this, and now knowing that only one of the two rooms he asked for were open, made Diluc a little flustered. Sure Diluc was stone cold, and very good at hiding his emotions, but things still catch him by surprise, not to mention his feelings for you was something he had not yet discussed with himself, opting for pushing them away, hoping they’d stay there.
“Are you sure there arnt any rooms available with two beds?” He muttered, hoping you wouldn’t point out his slightly pink face.
“I apologize Master Diluc, but I’m afraid not.” Verr said with a frown. You both sighed at her response, but were to tired to push the matter further, instead accented the stairs to your room.
When entering, the first thing your eyes were drawn to was the bed, which was reassuringly large.
“Umm so…” you started, not sure where you were going with your sentence.
“I’ll sleep on the floor.” Diluc responded curtly, somehow knowing what you wanted to say.
“Are you sure? The bed is quite large, I’m sure you’ll hurt in the morning if you sleep on the floor.” You questioned.
“I’ll be alright” he responded with a nod “you should wash up, we’ve had a long day, and another one tomorrow.”
You decide to listen to his words and headed towards the bathroom, before stopping and turning around.
“If you’re really going to sleep on the floor, at least take a nap on the bed first so you get some semblance of sleep.” You suggested, smirking to yourself as you locking yourself in the bathroom before he could protest.
‘I guess a small nap couldn’t hurt’ Diluc thought to himself ‘they are right, my back is going to hurt like the devil in the morning’ he decided he was going to take a nap, and settled on the bed, not bothering to pull the covers down.
You hadn’t realized how much time you’d spent in the shower until you reentered your shared room, only to see the dark star filled sky in place of the orange hues whom were there when you entered. Your eyes fell to the bed, seeing Diluc sleeping peacefully. You cringed as you saw him laying atop the covers. ‘How am I going to get under them? This was my plain, but I expected him to actually use the blankets…’ you didn’t like seeing him still fully dressed in his combat attire, which was Lilly uncomfortable for lounging, but… you also didn’t want to wake him up, because likely he would refuse the bed, and instead let you use it, which is exactly what you didn’t want to happen.
You’d finally devised a plan, decided your best corse of action was to just sneak into the bed, and hope he doesn’t wake up. But first, you quietly exited the room, and asked Verr for an extra comforter, which she happily let you barrow.
You still were upset that Diluc would be sleeping in his uniform, but decided it was better than him sleeping on the floor, and carefully put the extra comforter over him, tossing your fingers he wasn’t that light of a sleeper.
You looked down at his face as you finished tucking him in, he looked peaceful, free of worries, so unlike his cognizant expressions. You justified that a little forehead kiss wouldn’t wake him, seeing at you’d already layered a blanket atop him without trouble.
You gently pressed your lips to his hair covered forehead, but froze as you heard his sharp intake of breath, you waited a moment, not realizing your lips were still on his skin, before pulling away, hoping to find his eyes closed. Only luck wasn’t in you hands, because his eyes were very much open, and his cheeks quite red. He looked at you as he sat up.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to fall asleep.” He said, adverting his eyes away from you. “I hope you weren’t going to sleep on the floor.” He added with a scowl.
“I wasn’t” you responded, giggling a bit, “I was going to sleep on the other side, I just wanted to make sure you were comfortable first.”
“Oh, you didn’t need to, you should have woken me up.” He whispered as his blush darkened. At this point you wanted to see how flustered you could make him.
“And let you sleep on the floor? Nonsense. You should get changed into something more comfortable, I truly don’t mind sharing the bed.” You smiled, resting you hand upon his shoulder, making him take a sharp breath.
“Are you sure? I really don’t-“ he tried
“Yes I’m positive, now go change.” You said sternly with a squeeze to the area you were holding, before letting go.
Diluc sighed as he stood up, following your directions and grabbed his night clothes. He was almost to the bathroom when your voice interrupted the silence.
“You can change in here, I’ll look away, I promise.” You truly wanted him to be comfortable, but didn’t realize until after, how suggestive it was. You didn’t even try to retract your words, just sat there flushed with your eyes wide.
He was taken aback but smirked at your flushed face. “You don’t have to look away.” He responded, pulling his shirt off. Your eyes widened further as you covered your eyes. E he himself was surprised with his boldness, but continued changing nevertheless.
You slowly open your eyes as you feel a dip in the bed. “Are you sure you want me to sleep in the bed?” He asks you once more, making you roll your eyes. “For the millionth time, yes I’m fine with it, just stay on your side.” He nodded at your response and turned away from you, scooting to the far side of the bed. You did the same, falling asleep peacefully.
Diluc was the first awake, which wasn’t surprising, however what he didn’t expect when open his eyes was the sight of you, inches from his face, sound asleep on his chest. He flushed red, and stood about as still as a tree on a clear day. His mind raced, not sure what to do. Should he stay still? Should he wake you up? Should he move you as gently as possible? Should he kiss you away? He had no clue what to do, but opted to just stay where he was, you needed your rest, and he was likely going to disturb that if he were to move. However he couldn’t just do nothing, so he reached to run his fingers through your hair, he loved the texture of it, and he loved the little scrunch your face made when he did it. Diluc let out a light airy laugh, ‘you are so cute’ he thought to himself ‘if only you truly liked me back’
You and Diluc had been friends for years, often doing missions together, and you even aided in his quests to protect Monstat. And that’s all Diluc thought you saw him as a friend.
You were gently pulled from you slumber as your pillow, which you didn’t remember being this soft, rumbled, wait- rumbled? You open your eyes only to see that you were not in fact laying on a pillow, but rather on Diluc’s chest, it was embarrassing, but so comfortable, he had the perfect body temperature, which is presumably why you were drawn to him in your sleep. You wanted to stay here for longer, so that’s what you did, you closed your eyes once more, hoping for a little more sleep.
“Why do you gave to be so… cute? And you’re just laying here, I shouldn’t love you as much as I do, but I just can’t bring myself to not,” Diluc muttered to himself with a sigh. This confession of sorts cause you to open you eyes in surprise, right as he looked down at you.
“I- thought you were asleep.” He quickly explained. “Please ignore what I just said.”
That is the exact opposite of what you did, instead you pulled yourself up to hover over him before leaning down and kissing him.
“I love you a little bit to much too.”

Part One | Part Two | Part Three | Part Four | Part Five | Part Six | Final || Masterlist
My ability is called Hell Hath No Fury and it gives me the ability to make a perfect clone of myself that is fueled by the anger, rage, pain and despair that dwells inside of me, and has been inside of me since I was small. The anger isn't something that's just there, I've been through a lot of things in my life that left my weary soul full of the negative emotions that powers my clone. I don't particularly like using my clone, as she could be quite scary. Like anger and hatred, she could be very hard to control sometimes.
"She is quite scary, huh?" Dazai hummed, voice full of humor as I told him about my ability, us now back at the ADA. I sat at my desk, shoulders slumped. "Took me by surprise~"
I laughed softly at him, shaking my head as I read the official report that was written at the conclusion of the Taichi investigation. There was an unreadable look on my face as I read through the text, Dazai swaying his chair from side to side beside me.
"It says that Taichi was killed by the drug dealer..." I repeated, grimacing as I recalled Chuuya shooting the same man right in his head. "I don't... know how to feel about this."
I was the one who killed Taichi, yet here I was, sitting at my desk in the ADA office with no consequences coming my way. Further reports say that the drug dealer soon met his own demise due to the retribution from the Port Mafia, which wasn't an exact lie.
"Just go along with it, Bella. The only ones who know the truth are-"
"I can't believe you would do something so... incredibly stupid." I winced as soon as Kunikida started barreling down on me, sighing as he continued to lecture me.
Of course, we had to tell Fukuzawa, as well as the rest of the core members of the ADA what happened. It was only fair, considering we had to make sure the story was solid. It was rather nerve wracking to say the least, and in total me fashion, I had cried right in front of the President.
I thought I would get fired, but all I got was a week's suspension. "Get some rest," Fukuzawa said to me, leaning back in his chair. "You're going to need it." I nodded my head, standing up and bowing to him quickly before I left his office.
"I guess I'll see you guys soon," I said to the others, holding my bag full of belongings in my hands. I gave them all one last wave before walking out of the office, aware of Dazai following behind me. As always, I chose to walk down the stairs, only going down two flights before I turned on my heel, dropping my bag and wrapping my arms tight around the taller man.
"Oof," Dazai gasped out before he wrapped his arms around me, chuckling a bit as he gave me a squeeze. "It's not like you'll be gone forever."
I sighed, keeping my face pressed against his chest. "I know. I think all the adrenaline from... everything finally left and now I honestly feel like shit. I'm so tired, Osamu."
"... would you like me to come with you?" Dazai asked and I shook my head, giving him a playful, scolding look.
"You need to finish that report, you lazy bastard," I replied, Dazai already whining and I rolled my eyes. "Call me later?"
Dazai stopped whining, gently cupping my face with his hand. He leaned in and kissed me, stealing my breath away as he always had. He smirked at my flushed face, stepping back. "Yeah. Now go."
I left him by the stairs, making my way back to my apartment. Now that I had a week off, I wasn't sure what I should do. I guess doing was Fukuzawa said and just resting would be a good thing, seeing as I was tired, both physically and emotionally.
But even as I try to sleep, I find myself tossing and turning, waking up every hour. I slumped on my back, letting out a frustrated breath as I stared at the ceiling.
"You know, bella... you're disrupting my beauty sleep," Dazai spoke from beside me and I rolled my eyes, huffing out a breath. Dazai chuckled softly, laying one arm under his head while the other rested over his tummy. "This will pass in time."
I sighed softly. "It's weird... I don't regret it."
"But you still took a life."
"Did you feel this way when you first killed someone?"
"... I honestly don't remember. When you're surrounded by nothing but darkness and carnage for a long time, stuff like that is nothing to be concerned about."
I frowned. "When you were in the Port Mafia... you were partners with Chuuya, right?"
"Like I said, we were the best~" Dazai sang and I smiled softly.
"Just imagining the two of you fighting together is kinda scary..."
"Well, when you have someone like Chuuya and the youngest executive in Port Mafia history, yeah, we were pretty scary!"
I choked. "You were an executive?!" I exclaimed in shock. I thought about Chuuya, and how he worked alongside the Leader of the Port Mafia himself. Dazai was that powerful? And with someone like Chuuya...?
"That's..."
"Terrifying?"
"Hot."
Dazai sputtered, bursting out into a fit of laughter. "You like dangerous men?"
I grinned widely, finally turning to cuddle against him. "Blame it on the daddy issues," I answered, making him snort. "Why did you leave?"
"You should try to get some sleep," Dazai replied, changing the subject and I shrugged my shoulders.
"Yeah, though I won't be surprised if I can't," I mumbled unhappily, shifting a bit to get comfortable. I closed my eyes, hearing Dazai chuckled softly as I started to doze off.
Unsurprisingly, I slept like shit that night, my eyes were sore, the bags under my eyes puffy and dark. I groaned, waving Dazai goodbye tiredly as he left in the morning, heading to work after I scolded him for trying to sleep in and skip work.
The door closed behind him and I let myself fall back on my couch, just staring into nothing for a while before I grabbed my phone, pressing on Keiko's contact and calling her. She didn't answer.
Tumblr media
After pressing the button on the side of her phone to end the incoming call, Keiko sighed nervously as she approached the man sitting in the desk before her, hands shaking as she placed down a large, thick envelope.
"Here you go. That's all of it," she said softly, quickly withdrawing her hands away and clasping them together against her chest.
Chuuya watched her carefully, noticing just how scared and timid Keiko was acting, and he honestly didn't blame her, not after what she's been through, and especially how Taichi continued to throw her under the bus, even after his death.
"I swear... I had nothing to do with what he was doing..." her voice trembled and Chuuya sighed deeply. He dug into his drawer, producing a cigarette for both himself and Keiko. She allowed him to light hers for her and there was a silence as they each took a drag.
"I believe you," Chuuya started, leaning back in his seat. "He used your name to open that offshore account and the safety deposit box, making sure not to have this all trail back to him." Keiko hung her head and Chuuya thought back to when he first saw her. She was way more outgoing and cheerful, and admittingly had a very sensual, attractive aura that even he himself would be into if she hadn't been with Taichi.
It was a shame to see that all gone, all because of one coward. It pissed Chuuya off immensely. She was essentially betrayed by someone she trusted, and Chuuya could relate to that all too well.
"But, everything is finally coming to a close with all the money Taichi stole from us coming back. Don't worry, Keiko, our investigation makes it more than clear that you are innocent in this. You have nothing to worry about," Chuuya said, but Keiko still looked troubled. She said my name softly and he looked at her questionably.
"What about her...?" she asked softly. "Is she clear?"
"You did see the official report, right?" Chuuya replied in turn, taking another drag from his cigarette. Keiko nodded silently. "It wasn't that hard to form the story. There was at least some truth to it. The drug dealer was as good as dead... as well as Taichi. She just beat us to it. We can let this slide."
Keiko sighed in relief, taking another drag from her own cigarette. "That's a relief... I was worried about what would happen to her."
"Nothing," Chuuya answered. "And we will be keeping an eye on her for a while too."
Keiko nodded in understanding. "I'm still worried about her, though. She's been having a hard time sleeping and I'm sure it's just... everything finally getting to her..." Keiko sighed deeply, rubbing her eyebrows. "But I don't know what to do... she's in this mess because of me, I wanna help her but I don't even know how to help myself!"
"And that should be your main focus right now," Chuuya spoke, crossing his arms over his chest. "Don't worry about her. I'll take care of her."
"But why?" Keiko questioned. "It's not like you care about her. Or love her."
Chuuya rolled his eyes. "There's no love there, but she's... fun."
Keiko snorted at that. "She's not one for love and relationships. I guess that's why she's involved with you, and Dazai. There's a mutual understanding there, and I guess if it works for you guys, then it's okay. But-"
Chuuya quirked an eyebrow. "But?"
"She's still sensitive. She wears her heart on her sleeve, so even if there really is no love here, I'm sure she still cares for you guys. That's just how she is. So I ask... just don't hurt her. That's all. If it all ends... just make sure she doesn't get hurt." Keiko clenched her fists. "I don't know what I'll do to you if she does."
Chuuya just stared at her, pleasantly surprised. He let out a short laugh. "Are you threatening me?"
"Yes."
Chuuya grinned, laughing again as he shook his head. The loyalty in this friendship was honestly a sight to see. It was refreshing. "I don't usually respond well to threats, so I'll let this slide. You've done all you can do, so you can head on home if you want. If you're lucky, we won't see each other again."
"Well, if you're still seeing my best friend, we probably will," Keiko said, standing up, feeling a little less nervous. "Goodbye, Chuuya. Stay safe out there."
Chuuya nodded. "I hope you can heal and become your old self again. It's sad to not see that pretty smile on your face."
Keiko blushed brightly. "Shameless flirt," she shot at him playfully, turning away from him to leave. Chuuya laughed loudly from his desk.
Tumblr media
"So, are you okay now?" I asked Keiko over the phone, her telling me about her meeting with Chuuya. She first apologized for ignoring my call, but it didn't bother me that much. I was only glad that she was doing okay.
"Yeah, I'm alright. Gonna spend the rest of the day home and figure out what to do."
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"Well... I'm thinking of going away for a while. Maybe for six months... just to heal and find myself again."
"Six months?! What about your job?"
"I quit. I want to start my life over again, but I love Yokohama, so I figured... I can get another job when I come back! I'm gonna sell my condo too!"
I was stunned. "I... but where do you plan on even going?!"
"Hm... maybe Europe? I'm not sure yet. Are you... okay with me leaving?"
"Of course! I support you with everything you do in your life. I just want you to be safe and okay..."
"I'm glad. I'm pretty determined, but don't worry! I will always come home!"
Keiko and I talked for a while after that, a smile on my face as we ended the call. I was happy to see that Keiko was trying to turn her life around, proud of her for being so strong. It was rather inspiring, and helped me to gain my own strength to get my shit together as well.
The day went on, and I was in the kitchen making an early dinner when there was a knock on my door. I was annoyed, thinking it was Dazai flaking out on work again, but as I opened my door, I was surprised to see a certain red head at my door.
"Chuuya?"
"Wow. You look like shit."
I rolled my eyes and scoffed, turning and walking back into my kitchen, Chuuya following behind me.
"Gee, thanks."
"What are you doing?"
"Cooking an early dinner. You want some?"
"Yeah, sure."
It wasn't long until Chuuya and I sat across from each other, chowing down on some food and filling our bellies.
"So, what's up?" I asked him, drinking some water. Chuuya was still stuffing his face, almost choking at one point before he downed his glass of water to save himself.
"Well," Chuuya coughed. "I came here to collect my prize."
I blinked. "Your prize? What are- oh," I rolled my eyes, shaking my head. That stupid race Dazai proposed. Chuuya was the one who figured it all out first, and I was the prize for the lucky winner. "So, you wanna have sex later then? I'm cool with that."
Chuuya scoffed and crossed his arms over his chest. "No. Well, yes, but no. Not yet. I'm taking you somewhere."
I raised my eyebrows. "Where?"
"Shut up and don't worry about it. You'll see when you get there."
I narrowed my eyes at him, just wondering what the fuck he was up to. What could it possibly be that he wouldn't tell me what his plan was? It was rather suspicious and I began to grow wary.
But we finished eating and Chuuya didn't even give me a chance to pack before he dragged me out of my apartment. I managed to get my keys, phone and purse, and I gave him the stink eye the entire time I was stuck in the backseat of a fancy car with him.
"Are you having me killed?"
"I will if you don't shut up."
I scoffed, crossing my arms over my chest as Chuuya took me to my supposed doom. But we arrived at our destination, and I was extremely confused as I looked up at the rather luxurious hotel. I didn't get the chance to question it, Chuuya leading me inside. We were immediately greeted by the hotel attendants, and led to the elevator. We rode it all the way to the top floor, the attendant leaving us alone as the doors opened and we walked out into the hallway.
"Chuuya..." I let out a small breath as he led me inside the penthouse, my jaw dropping as I took my first look at the very luxurious space. "What is this?"
"Keiko told me you were having a rough time," Chuuya spoke, taking off his hat and then his jacket, hanging them up carefully. "I figured this would help you. Full body massages, jacuzzi, anything you could ever want to just... relax. It's all here."
"But... Chuuya, you didn't have to," I whispered, still in awe with my face heated up.
"Well, just deal with it," Chuuya huffed.
"Isn't this expensive though?"
"It's nothing. Just... think about this as my prize. Taking care of you."
Now my face was burning hot, Chuuya's own flushed red. I gave him a look, his words making me smile a bit despite how flustered they made me.
"You sound like a sugar daddy."
He didn't respond. That made me giggle. "How long will we be here."
"For the week, until you get back to work."
"But how did you..." I trailed off, gasping when Chuuya gave me a light push further into the penthouse.
It was an amazing, large open area space with a full kitchen, all the top appliances, a flat screen and a huge king size bed. The bathroom was just as fabulous, the large soaker tub calling my name.
"Oh, I need to get in that," I declared, making Chuuya laugh lightly. He watched as I looked around the bathroom, taking it upon himself to start filling up the tub. I turned to him and smirked. "Will you join me?"
"Like you have to ask that."
After finding a nice smelling bath bomb to put in the tub, Chuuya and I undressed and carefully climbed inside, sighing blissfully as the hot water immediately began to relax our muscles. I sat between Chuuya's legs, my back against his chest and my head resting against his shoulder. My eyes were closed, Chuuya's strong hands roaming all over my body.
"Tired?" Chuuya asked me softly and I sighed, nodding my head.
"Yeah... like Keiko said, I've been having a shit time sleeping," I answered, turning my head to lightly kiss Chuuya's jaw lightly. "But maybe a relaxing massage would help. Oh, but it's kinda late, huh? The masseuse would be gone by now."
Chuuya's hands continue to roam my body, one moving south. I let out a deep sigh when he began to rub circles on my clit.
"Yeah... but I can think of other ways to make you sleep," Chuuya whispered in my ear before he bit into my earlobe. I sigh again, Chuuya then capturing my lips with his own.
After making me cum on his fingers in the tub, we finished up in there before we found ourselves tangled up in the sheets of the king sized bed. Chuuya had my legs thrown over his shoulders, his cock plunging deep into me with every thrust he made.
"You're mine..." Chuuya breathed out, hissing and moaning from the pleasure. "... for the entire week... gonna make sure the only name you know is mine." He growled, clenching the sheets on either side of me tightly in his fists.
"Oh, yes, yes yes!" I cried out, back arching off my bed, eyes going wide as a voice that was not Chuuya's spoke up.
"Oh, that's just cute."
Whipping our heads around, we were shocked to see a certain detective standing at the foot of the bed, lecherous grin on his pretty face. We froze, Chuuya's cock still inside me, my heart pounding in my chest.
"Dazai?!" I shrieked.
"How the fuck did you get in here?!" Chuuya followed, glaring at the man. "What the hell?!"
"You can't hide things from me~" Dazai sang, not even hiding the fact that he was enjoying what he was seeing, his eyes slowly trailing over both of our naked bodies. "I was wondering why you called me to ask about her schedule... so I did some digging."
Chuuya hung his head, gritting his teeth in annoyance. "I am going to kill you."
Dazai laughed heartily, waving his hand dismissively. "No, no! Don't let me disturb you! I can watch! You guys were having so much fun!"
Before Chuuya could even react, he ended up groaning, his wide blue eyes finding mine. "Did you... fucking like that?" he asked and I stuttered a bit. "Do you want him to watch us?"
Another chill went down my spine at the thought and Chuuya groaned again as I clenched tightly around him. Chuuya cursed, feeling his cock twitch inside of me. He cursed again, becoming more overcome with arousal.
"Interesting," he breathed out, small puffs of air hitting my face. He smirked slightly, glancing back at Dazai. "This brings back memories."
"Fond memories," Dazai hummed and I looked back and forth between the two of them questionably.
"What are you guys talking about?"
Both of their eyes were now on me, and the intensity of their gazes made me gasp sharply, another chill going down my spine.
"Why have him just watch," Chuuya began, nuzzling his face against my neck. "When he can join us? Oh, fuck, you squeezed me so tightly just now..."
I trembled, heart hammering in my chest at the mere idea. A threesome? With Chuuya and Dazai. Looking over, I catch Dazai slipping off his tan jacket, gulping as he started to work on getting his shirt off.
"We have a week, right? Oh, this is going to be so much fun."

“(Y/n), can I talk to you real quick?”
(Y/n) looked up from adjusting his loose kneepad, and wiped a bead of sweat rolling off his face. He turned his head to his teammates still on their diving punishment, and looked back at Kuroo. They just lost to another school again, but he got his punishment done rather early. “Mm? Okay..?”
He rose to his feet, following Kuroo out the gym door. The walk to a secluded place far, far away from the main gym was silent and awkward, not to mention suspicious. If Kuroo wasn’t one of his good friends, he would’ve thought he was about to be kidnapped. Or murdered.
Eventually, they stopped where the fenced pathway met the grass. Kuroo stopped ominously, further proving (Y/n’s) ‘serial killer’ theory. He turned around, facing (Y/n), and leaned on the railing.
(Y/n) stiffly held his hands behind his back. “So...” he rocked on his heels, trying to seem as casual as possible. “...what did you...need...?”
He was met with no response. Kuroo, instead, gripped the railing tighter, his knuckles turning a pale white. His eyes were downcast and he was sweating like crazy. He looked like he’d seen a ghost.
(Y/n) stepped forward and crouched down, so he could see Kuroos face behind the mop that was his hair. He rested his palms on his knees, trying to decide what to say.
“...I...think your hair looks nice...today...”
If it’s one thing he hates, it’s awkward silence. Not to mention the suspense of waiting on someone to say someone possibly life changing. I mean, why else should he drag him out miles away from the gym during training camp?
“Uh-If we don’t hurry up, we’re gonna miss our next match-“
“I need to get something off my chest.”
(Y/n’s) throat closed up. It was simple. The secluded area, Kuroo flushed face, fiddling and chipping the rust off the railing. He didn’t know how he didn’t see it before. He’s been in this situation plenty of times, with girls he can’t even remember the face of. But oh how much he’d love to be in this situation a few months ago.
————
‘Just do it. just do it. God, just do it. Worse comes to worse, he’s straight. It’s not like he’s the type of person to de-friend someone because they like them!’
(Y/n) gripped the white envelope behind his back harshly, crinkling it on the corners. It had a red, heart shaped sticker on the seal flap, with the words ‘To Tetsu’ written in dark pink across the back.
Both Karasuno and Nekoma were bidding their new friends goodbye, all scattered across the parking lot of Karasuno. (Y/n) paced around awkwardly, looking for Kuroo’s familiar mop of black, messy hair. He was nervous, to say the least. Very nervous.
“Ne, Kenma,” (Y/n) placed a sweaty palm on Kenmas handheld game, pushing it down lightly and forcing him to look up.
“Mm.”
“Have...have you seen Tetsurou? I need to give him something.”
Kenma hummed in acknowledgment, and nudged his head to the side. Sure enough, Kuroo was there, off in the distance and talking to someone he couldn’t make out. His back was facing towards them, and his hand was on his hip. (Y/n’s) heart pounded even more.
“Th..an..k...y-you...” (Y/n) gave a lopsided, very stressed out smile, and limped his way over to Kuroo. Kenmas eyes were drawn to the extremely obvious love-letter being wrinkled by (Y/n’s) sweaty hands. He pursed his lips.
He then looked up to the petite girl chatting with Kuroo. It wasn’t visible in (Y/n’s) line of sight, but it was to Kenma. He almost felt kind of bad.
(Y/n) stopped dead behind Kuroo, his eyes fixated on the ground as he ran through his memorized confession for the millionth time that day. He tapped on his shoulder, keeping the letter flush against his back with his other hand.
Kuroo turned around, and that was when his eyes landed on the brown-haired girl wearing an obviously oversized Nekoma jacket. From context of the scene, (Y/n) supposed it was Kuroo’s. He gripped the letter tighter.
The girl walked forward and extended her hand out. Her bubbly aura practically suffocated (Y/n). “Hi! You must be ‘(Y/n)’. Tetsu was just talking about you! You two are like—buddy buddies right?”
‘Tetsu.’ That was (Y/n’s) nickname for him. Only he got to call him ‘Tetsu’...and who gave her the right to call him by his first name?
(Y/n) glanced at Kuroo. Kuroo shoved his hands into his pocket and grinned. It wasn’t his usual shit-eater smirk, rather a genuine, lovesick dopey smile. A smile (Y/n’s) never seen before, not directed at him at least. It was a sight he wanted to burn into his mind, but at the same time, he wanted to slap that smile right off his face.
“(Y/n), this is Yumi-chan. She’s our new manager.”
Kuroo stepped behind Yumimite, and draped his arms around her dainty shoulders.
“She’s also my new girlfriend~”
“Oh-hush it, you!” Yumimite turned around and berated Kuroo with small punches, earning a playful chuckled from the Kuroo. (Y/n’s) grip on the wrinkled letter loosened.
“...ahaha! Congrats..! When...when did you two get together?” If (Y/n) was good at anything, he was good at pretending to be interested in something. Maybe he should’ve joined the drama club instead of the volleyball club.
“Mm. We got together just last week. She gave me a love letter.” Kuroo patted the girl on her head, ruffling her neat brown hair and making her blush red. It looked like it felt nice. He wondered how it would feel to have Kuroo’s undivided attention, to be pat on the head like a blushing schoolgirl. To be a small, pretty girl next to Kuroo, to have the ability to call him ‘his’. All his nervousness simmered away, replaced by a strange ache of numb.
“Well, that’s awesome dude! Honestly, I don’t know how you managed to snag a girlfriend before me...” (Y/n) slouched dramatically, quickly hooking the letter in the waistband of his volleyball shorts and tugging his shirt over it. “Especially such a cutie like her! I’m (L/n), by the way...”
Kuroo chuckled, slinging an arm around Yumimite. “Don’t go flirting with my girl now. You have plenty of girls practically throwing their panties at you.”
‘Yeah...but I’m gay, Tetsurou. For you no doubt! I-I love you-!’
(Y/n) almost wanted to yell that out. And he almost did. But he chose instead to keep silent and laugh in response.
(Y/n) bowed slightly. “Anyway, it was nice meeting you. I just wanted to say hi to Tets-uh, Kuroo...”
Kuroo tilted his head at the use of his last name, but brushed it off when Yumi hooked her arm in his. The couple bid their goodbyes, as they turned around and walked off. (Y/n) followed suite, turning around robotically and marching off.
Once he was a good enough distance away, he stopped behind a trash can and fished the letter out from his sweaty back.
He watched as the big pink words ‘To Tetsu’ bled and distort with every falling teardrop rolling down his cheeks. The water expanded and smudged the ink lighter and lighter until the words were practically indecipherable. You couldn’t tell it was a love letter anymore. Especially because (Y/n) ripped and trashed it up til it was a pile of pink and white paper shreds.
He tossed the stray flakes of soggy paper into the trash bin, watching as it fluttered and twirled tauntingly down the trash can. He quietly scrubbed at his red hot face, probably soaking his shirt with his salty tears. He rested his hands on the edges of the bin.
“Okay...” (Y/n) stretched up, spitting onto the concrete. “I...wonder...if my favorite ramen place is open...”
Strangely he didn’t feel devastated, or heartbroken at all. He just felt sort of numb. He didn’t feel the need to blast heartbreak music and cry out on his bed for hours on end. In fact, he was glad. Albeit a bit raw, and maybe a bit tired, but glad.
He got closure for the confusing feelings bubbling down his throat ever since he’d met Kuroo Tetsurou. He got his answer, and even if it wasn’t the preferred one, it was something.
The recovery process was easier than most people would think. It only took a couple long days to get him back to his prime condition. It was a given, since (Y/n) had so much other things to be worrying about. Midterms, volleyball practice, his friends. It’s a given that he would move on the things that was no longer on his priority list.
And Kuroo Tetsurou was no exception.
——
It was kind of pathetic to see such a high strung man like Kuroo so shaky and nervous. Though, he felt the same way three months ago, spending the whole golden week perfecting a letter he never got to read. What a hypocrite he was.
(Y/n) cleared his throat. “So...what did you wanna say?”
“I-just,” Kuroo swallowed thickly. “Ah-I...give me a second...”
“Okay, take you time, Kuroo~” he stood back up to his full height, and leaned on the rail across from him. It was obvious they weren’t gonna get anywhere. “So...hows ‘Yumi-chan’ doing?”
“Ah. We broke up. She’s gay. She has a girlfriend now.”
“Aw, I’m sorry. Though, good for her for snagging a girlfriend. No offense.” Kuroo mumbled out a ‘none taken.’ (Y/n) continued.
“Was that what you wanted to talk about? Her breaking up with you?”
“No! Actually, I broke up with her first. And it was...it was kinda mutual.” Kuroo sharply inhaled. “But it does have something to do with what I need to tell you.”
How could he be more obvious. (Y/n) forced a smile. It felt mandatory now. “Really? That’s interesting. Do tell.”
‘Please...Please don’t say it.’
“I broke up with her...because I had these...feelings.”
‘Please don’t say it. I don’t want to hear it. I don’t want to see it. I don’t want to read it. I don’t want to know it.’
“And you know how she’s gay? Well, I think I am too.”
‘No shit Sherlock. I don’t wanna hear it. You’ve been fiddling around with your hands like a schoolgirl. Stop it, so we can just be friends like we used to be. Don’t make it awkward. Don’t make me hear it. Please.’
“And...well...”
‘Don’t make me look at your crestfallen face when I say no. It’s too much for even me to handle. I don’t want to see that.’
(Y/n) knitted his eyes shut. A fierce shudder threatened to rattle him and cover Kuroo’s mouth, but he kept still, as difficult as it was. He braced for impact.
“I think I’m in love with you.”
There it was.
(Y/n) pursed his lips and let his smile finally drop. Kuroo looked up from his trained gaze on the ground, only to be met with (Y/n’s) pitiful expression. (Y/n) never saw his face go from hopeful and love struck to devastated and heartbroken so fast.
(Y/n) cleared his throat. He was going to lay him down gently if it was the last thing he did. “...uh.”
He never said it’d be easy, though.
“If it makes you feel better...I did like you once, Tetsurou.” He only used his full first name during important situations, as he switched to using his last name instead of his first a long time ago. A lump grew in Kuroo’s throat.
Kuroo jabbed at his chest exasperatedly. “T-then what’s the problem?! We both-“
“The problem is I don’t love you. Not anymore.” Kuroo fell silent. He was so prepared to do anything it took to win over (Y/n), but after standing in front of him now, it was clear. Watching as he looked down at him with a pitying expression that made his brain go numb. He would get no where if he tried.
“...a-anymore? You liked me before? When!? Why didn’t I know?!” Kuroo grasped fistfuls of his black hair, a cold sweat condensing on his forehead. He was so animatedly desperate it was kind of sad.
“Not too long ago. Though, you kept me waiting since forever. And I thought I could wait forever.” A sorry chuckle emitted from (Y/n’s) lips. “I watched you go though girlfriend after girlfriend, Tetsurou. You even introduced me to Yumimite when I was going to confess to you. How do you think that felt? Even I got tired of waiting.”
“You...you were...” Kuroo had never felt so helpless. (Y/n) shrugged.
“I would give you the love letter I wrote for you that day, but it’s in a trash can somewhere. Ripped to shreds. And I don’t remember the words I wrote. I’m sorry, Tetsurou.” (Y/n) sighed and patted Kuroo on the head.
“You missed your chance...”
Kuroo’s eyes stung, threatening to unleash hell, but he promised himself he wouldn’t cry. No matter what. Instead, he rubbed the back of his neck and stood back up.
“I never stood a chance, did i?” Kuroo chuckled. It was a sad chuckle, one that made (Y/n) want to cry aswell.
“That’s the sad part.” (Y/n) pressed his lips into a fine line, turning it into a smile conotated with pity.
“You did once.”
——————
Go sit there and stare at the wall in silence as you feel bad for Kuroo getting rejected by you. Go on, stare. Maybe then I’ll consider a part 2 (and if people comment or reblog asking for a part 2, hee hee.)

A Helping Wing
Quick Revali scenario, I have had this idea for some time now and I’m finally posting it lol. Anyway enjoy soft, worried Revali!
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild
Revali x Reader
Summary: A trip to Goron City gets an unexpected turn with an even more unexpected reaction from the Rito Champion.
Notes: Injury
Tumblr media
The scorching heat that dominated the air on the way to Death Mountain would have been unbearable if it weren’t for the fireproof elixirs you had made well in advance. Still, the hot air had its effect on you as you found yourself wiping tiny beads of sweat from your forehead every now and then as you walked along the rocky path. You could only imagine how the thickly feathered Rito behind you was most likely suffering from the heat much more than you were.
“Remind me again why are we on this absolutely horrendous trip to Goron City in the first place,” Revali complained behind you, eyebrows frowned in annoyance. A part of you knew that this would happen. Knowing him, just about any small nuisance in his way made his beak spill out words of irritation. All you could do was sigh.
“Daruk got seriously injured and Mipha requested us to bring her some supplies so she could heal him faster,” you explained, though had already done so when you initially started your trip to the city. You threw him a quick glance. “Without these, the process could take days.” You lifted the bag on your shoulder that held the herbs and potions the young Zora had asked for. Revali merely scoffed.
“Well, if this is such an important mission, why are we wasting our time on foot when we have two perfectly operational wings right here?” He motioned to his wings with his eyes. “Surely we would get there faster and be done with this cumbersome task.” You let out a laugh, keeping your eyes forward.
“As if you would let me climb on your precious little back,” you mocked. If there was something you knew about Revali is that he had too much pride in, well, everything, so you knew that what he was implying was practically impossible. Even if he was willing to let go of his ego in this rare, inconvenient situation, there was a problem with his idea. “Besides, the herbs would just fly out and burn if we’re that high up.” You turned around to look at him.
“We’re almost there. Just hang in there a little longer."
Revali clicked his tongue but eventually sighed, accepting your words. Despite his exasperation, you were right. Even with the effects of the elixir, flying high surrounded by the hot air would do damage to the precious contents of your bag, but also to him and you. His feathers would probably catch fire and that was the last thing he wanted. So, he continued to walk behind you, muttering miffed words under his breath.
As you pressed on under the extreme temperature, something quickly caught your eye. You stopped and Revali looked at you, raising his brow in confusion before your voice came through.
“Bokoblins.” You nodded towards the creatures. “Four of them.” They danced around as they usually did without a care in the world. The Rito crossed his wings.
“Nothing you can’t handle,” he stated, his words making you look at him in bewilderment.
“Me? Are you not going to help?” You purposely kept your voice down, as the Bokoblins hadn’t yet detected either of you. Your question was met with a smug smirk that stretched the edges of his beak.
“I am rather exhausted from this awful heat, and I’d rather let you do the honors, seeing as you seem to be quite determined in getting to the city in the first place.” You couldn’t believe his words. Revali was many things, but lazy was something you could have never expected. There was the possibility that he was telling the truth, but the pompous grin on his face made you doubt this. However, he was right in saying that defeating a few Bokoblins was no difficult task.
“Fine,” You spat and tossed the bag of supplies at him before grabbing your bow, a part of you regretting the decision to ask him to come with you in the first place. “I really hate you, you know?” Revali held the bag and took a few steps back, the smirk never fading from his face.
“The feeling is mutual.”
With a roll of your eyes, you turned away from him, your eyes gluing themselves on your target. The Bokoblins were in a nice little pile, so taking them out would be easy. However, you could feel Revali’s judging eyes boring into your back, watching your every move. At this point, you thought that he may have abstained from helping you just to see how you would do with the bow and then possibly mock you for an incorrect technique only he could see.
You shook the thought away. Now was not the time to worry about Revali’s judgment. Your only task was to bring the supplies to Mipha and not pay attention to his foolishness. Still, in the back of your mind, some part of you wanted to impress him for whatever reason, so you attempted to take all of the Bokoblins out at once.
Revali watched as you prepared for your attack, that arrogant smirk still apparent. His eyes watched as you gripped the bow, how you tested the string and how you finally grabbed an arrow from your quiver and-
Suddenly, his expression changed to a panicked one as his widened eyes noticed the grave mistake you had made that took the form of the arrow you had chosen: A bright red, sizzling bomb arrow.
Revali quickly jumped into the air and grabbed the back of your shirt with his talons, pulling you away from the massive explosion caused by the arrow and the surrounding air. Your eyes widened at the blast, and you instinctively shielded yourself with your arms as you were pulled back before feeling your back slam against an armored chest.
The Rito stumbled back and fell to the rocky ground, softening your fall by having you land on his chest. The sound rang in your ears and you squeezed your eyes shut and only opened them once you couldn’t feel the heat of the flames any longer. You blinked and looked at your burned bow that laid on the ground, the Bokoblins fleeing the sight, frightened by the loud noise. It had all happened so fast, you only realized your mistake when Revali opened his beak:
“Are you out of your mind?!” He yelled behind you, voice filled with anger and concern. “You could have gotten both of us killed! How could you possibly think using a bomb arrow at a place like this was a good idea?!” You slowly stood up, still shaken by the accident.
“Are you truly that foolish? That you don’t know that a bomb arrow will explode as soon as it makes contact with the hot air?”
Of course you knew. In the heat of the moment, you hadn’t even realized that you had grabbed a bomb arrow and now you were scolded by your stupid mistake. Your eyes found the ground below you, embarrassment settling in your stomach. “I’m sorry... I just... I didn’t even realize,” You said, trying to somehow explain your actions, though you were more taken aback by his reaction. You had never heard him use his voice in such a manner.
A sigh left Revali’s beak as he tried to calm himself down. Truthfully, he didn’t fully know why he reacted in such a fiery manner.
“You’re hurt,” he finally said. You looked up at him and saw his eyes glued to your arm. Then you felt the burning pain on it. A significant piece of fabric from your sleeve was burned, the jagged hole revealing your reddened skin that sent waves of pain and discomfort throughout the rest of your arm. You hissed in pain and grabbed the abused area with your other hand.
You noticed Revali grabbing something from a bag of his own and motioning you to sit on a rock conveniently placed on the side of the road. You took his offer and sat down, fighting back tears that threatened to fall from your eyes. You glanced at Revali, who carried a white, jiggly blob of... something in his wing while walking towards you.
“What is that?” You asked, keeping your eyes on the unknown substance.
“White Chuchu jelly.” Revali kneeled beside you, expression neutral, rid of any signs of arrogance or judgment. “It should help with the burn,” he stated, pressing the jelly on the surface of your arm, the cool temperature of it immediately easing your pain. You let out a shaky breath.
“Why do you even have that?” You were unable to look at him, something inside you making your stomach churn. You felt his wings wrapping a bandage around your arm, the jelly staying on your skin.
“Well, I would have used it to cool myself off, but it appears that you need it more than I do after that ridiculous stunt you pulled.” You clicked your tongue in annoyance.
“I said I didn’t realize what I was doing I just-”
“Didn’t pay attention,” he interrupted. You were about to argue but after realizing that he was correct, you let out a heavy sigh instead. Revali finished wrapping your wound and stood up, briefly glancing at your destroyed bow.
“What a waste,” he sighed, walking back to the bags, relieved to see the supplies still intact. You stood up, looking at your bandaged arm and then at him. Despite his somewhat rude and cocky exterior, he apparently cared about you enough to at least tend to your wound when he technically didn’t need to. You couldn’t help but smile.
“Thank you, Revali.”
The Rito briefly stopped what he was doing, likely processing your words. You couldn’t see his face, so his expression was left a mystery. He on the other hand was grateful you didn’t witness the feathers on his face puff up ever so slightly. The accident startled him more than he would have liked to admit and was grateful that he was able to pull you out in time.
“Don’t thank me yet,” he finally said, regaining his usual attitude. He stood up and picked both bags up from the ground.
“We haven’t reached our destination yet and I clearly misjudged your abilities, who knows what ridiculous mistake you might make next.” For the first time, you let out a tiny laugh at his words, following him as he began walking.
“Well, I guess asking for your assistance in this little task of mine wasn’t such a terrible idea after all.”
Revali chuckled and shook his head at your words, his usual arrogance embedded in his response:
“Oh, (Name).” His glimmering eyes glanced at you, smirk once again decorating his features.
“What would you do without me?”

The case was solved, closed, and finally, your eyes could rest. The case you had just finished was particularly stressful to not only you, but your fellow BAU members as well. You all hadn't slept for nearly twenty-nine hours and Hotch decided it was best you all got the rest you deserved at a nearby hotel.
The ride there, you struggled to keep your eyes open, but Spencer Reid was on another greatly interesting rant about a show he liked, so you figured you would try to stay awake to hear it. You always listened to him because a lot of the time, the rest of the team dismissed him and his oddly accurate monologues. They grew tired of Spencer talking so much about things they didn't understand but you were rather the opposite- and that's probably because you liked Spencer so much.
The two of you met when he was introduced to the BAU. Praised for his mind, he introduced himself to you with a shaky voice and a meek handshake. You instantly admired him from his geeky personality outwards to his tall, thin self with a face sculpted by artists. Little did you know he did the same, but immediately thought of you as out of his league, so he stayed quiet.
You had been friends since then, pairing up on cases as your minds seemed to work like a perfectly oiled machine when together. Like Penelope and Derek, you two were known for the science jokes no one understood and shared looks of adoration that the both of you somehow didn't recognize as romantic. But everyone else saw it.
Derek Morgan teased a lot. He talked to Reid about working with the 'pretty girl' every day, poking him in the side and messing with his hair. The geek and the girl who was smart as hell, but didn't make it her dominant trait.
A doctor and the outgoing agent who matched the loudness of Penelope Garcia at times at karaoke night. You brought more liveliness to the BAU- more music, more spinning, more levity in dark cases. Spencer was always trying to hide a smile when you walked in, trying to pretend he hadn't been waiting for you to bring him coffee each morning. You didn't need an eidetic memory to remember his order and that, for some reason, always sent him over the moon.
But you were here now, listening to him wrap up his story as you fought the sleep that was looming over you as the car came to a stop outside the hotel.
"-And that was the end of it all. I think it's so fascinating how they wrapped everything up into this intricate timeline of interactions and moments and backtracks. We should, uh, watch it sometime." He said as he hopped out of the back, holding his small bag and yours.
You sleepily hopped out after him, hoping you didn't look like you felt, because you truly felt like hell. "Yeah, I'd like that," was all you could really mumble out. He passed you your bag and you smiled your thank you.
Emily held you up by the shoulders as Hotch sent through the check-in information. "Some case, huh?" She laughed as you rubbed your left eye. "I suppose we can't make this a girl's night of post-case celebration if you're dead asleep."
You groaned, "You wanted to do that? Damn it, Em, I'm sorry-"
"You need beauty sleep, (Y/N). I'm not mad or anything, I'll just take a bath and pull out an adult romance novel." A smirk played on her lips as she raised her eyebrows. You chuckled tiredly. "Seriously, no worries."
"Did I hear talk of a romance novel?" Derek shuffled over. "Which one are we reading? 50 Shades of Grey?"
Spencer stepped in, "Did you know that 50 Shades of Grey is actually fanfiction written about Stephanie Meyer's Twilight Saga? If you go further back, Stephanie started Twilight as written alternate universe fanfiction where the emo-slash-hardcore band My Chemical Romance were all vampires. But My Chemical Romance was started by musician and comic book creator- who published a series of comics called The Umbrella Academy in 2008, unrelated, his name was - Gerard Way, who created the band to make music that expressed the trauma he was given from witnessing the twin towers falling on September 11th, 2001."
Emily looked at him, jaw open. "So Nine-Eleven essentially created a badly-written and toxic sex novel, years later?"
Spencer nodded, eyes flickering to you for a brief moment. Derek grinned at Emily, "So you have read 50 Shades of Grey, huh?" He teased. She swat at his wiggly fingers away as Hotch walked over, brow furrowed.
"Rooms need to be doubled up tonight. Morgan, you can come with me. As much as you may hate it, I feel like (Y/L/N) here might collapse on the spot, so we can't go anywhere else." He handed Spencer and Emily a key, expecting them to make their own choices. Of course, Emily knew exactly what she needed to do when Hotch walked off. You were about to turn and go with her, but she bolted off, reaching for JJ.
You looked up at Spencer Reid who had his mouth in a shy, straight-lipped smile. You both knew what this meant, but you were glad you'd get to crash somewhere, floor or not. The room was on the fifth floor, so you took the elevator with Spencer in silence that you were sure he was granting you until you reached the door of your room.
"I will... take the floor tonight," he said, sticking the key in the lock. "You're tired and I'm just going to get dinner and um... read."
His watch read 4:34 pm- it was so much earlier than you had thought, but you were almost collapsing. "I'm sorry," were the last words you could reply with before you walked into the room, got into the bed, and you were out, cold.
You had never had such a fulfilling sleep. You woke up feeling clean, fresh, renewed and restored. There was no groggy feeling that you had accidentally travelled to another dimension while asleep. The room was dim, except for the lamp that was on in the right corner.
When you peered over the edge of the bed, there was Spencer, laying on his stomach with few pillows under his chest and elbows, a book in his hands. He looked peaceful, quiet, calm. "Spence," you whispered. He practically jumped out of his skin and you couldn't help but laugh. "Oh my god, I'm sorry." You grinned.
He smiled sheepishly, setting down his book. "You're awake."
You nodded back, "How long was I out?"
"Since 4:34, so... 8 hours and 20 minutes. It's only 12:22am." Spencer sat up and against the wall while you adjusted yourself to sit cross-legged. You were still in your clothes from earlier and it surprised you to see Spencer in less preppy clothing.
Well, less preppy for him. No cardigan, no dress shirt, just a t-shirt that read 'math is as easy as pi' with the pi symbol made of cherry pie and his regular khaki pants. "Aren't you tired?" you asked, smiling from his shirt, back to him.
"No, uh, I actually got about four hours in the middle of your eight. I usually don't dream anymore but I actually dreamt I was falling, which is a sign of..." he stopped himself, but he was with another profiler, what was the use, you could already fill in the blanks. He continued, "Which is a sign of insecurity and inferiority, but I don't believe in dream analysis..."
You furrowed your brow, watching his eyes look down at his hands. "Are you feeling insecure and inferior, Dr.Reid, because need I remind you that 99% of the time, it's your brain that leads us to solve the cases."
He shook his head, "Thinking myself over, I'd-I'd say it doesn't revolve around work." The stutter was back. He hadn't talked to you with a stutter in months, you'd assumed it was just because he wasn't as comfortable around you then, but now it was back. Spencer Reid needed to be cheered up, something was wrong.
"Well you know you can tell me anything, right? I've kept secrets about my friends since grade one, I can keep yours." You slipped off of the bed and walked to your bag on the table in the far corner. You could feel Spencer's eyes on you as you went, so you shot him a smile over your shoulder. He reverted back to looking at his hands.
Through situations and being friends, you knew Spencer was insecure. He was bullied constantly as a child, some going as far as to strip him down and beat him. Disgusting, self-esteem-ruining acts you wished you could remove from his eidetic memory.
You took off your button-up blouse to stay in your white t-shirt that lay underneath. You hadn't the time to remove it before falling asleep. Thinking about that- you probably had bedhead too. Your balled-up shirt was shoved into your bag and you pulled out a brush in exchange, to get the knots out of your hair.
"I could really go for frozen yogurt right now," you said, running the wooden brush through your hair. Spencer narrowed his eyes at you, a little confused. "I haven't eaten dinner."
"It's nearly 12:30 am..." Spencer said. It looked like he was running through his vast mind to find a scientific explanation as to why you might have wanted frozen yogurt at half-past midnight. You let him, a teasing smile on your lips as you pulled the top bit of your hair up. "Are you pregnant?" He asked, out of the blue, entirely serious. Seemed like the only logical explanation he could find. You nearly choked on the air.
"No, Spencer, I am not pregnant!" You laughed. His face tightened as he went back to searching his mind. "I just want frozen yogurt. Regular cravings, not... pregnancy cravings. Are you coming?"
He looked at you, oddly surprised he was invited. "Why?"
"Why not?" You picked up his jacket from the hook and tossed it to him. "Nobody has to see your cheesy math shirt."
He smiled sheepishly and rubbed the back of his neck, but went right back to being analytical, a mumbling rant with hand gestures.
"The average half-cup serving of frozen yogurt alone has about 17.3 grams of sugar and plus various toppings, the sugar is upped to at least 25 grams. But, versus a half-cup serving of vanilla ice cream, the sugar is only about 14 grams and with toppings can be upped to about 22. Fat-wise-"
You interrupted him because this was seemingly the only way to lift his mood and he was making excuses to stay here and wallow. "Come on, for once, let's be able to act like the youngest members of the team. Once, Spence. I don't need a play-by-play on how much sugar is in it- though I did find that interesting-I just want frozen yogurt and I would like you to come with me. I'll pay for yours if you want any, just... please?"
He met your eyes with a curl falling down his forehead and quickly looked back at his hands. You'd been friends for nearly a year and four months and he still couldn't look you in the eyes for long. He really wasn't good at refusing you at all, either.
Spencer nodded and you practically beamed. Maybe this would help to take his mind off of what was bothering him, even if the distraction was brief. You jumped on the spot and slipped on your own jacket and grabbed your wallet, ready to go and by the door.
He had a small smile when the two of you stepped out, his hands behind his back. You locked the door behind you and the two of you walked silently to the elevator, careful not to accidentally wake anyone else in case they decided to peer out into the hall.
In the elevator, you turned and looked up at Spencer who was fiddling with his hands. "You look nervous, Spence. It's frozen yogurt, not a pretty girl."
"Well I'm with-" he stopped himself again and actually started laughing his breathy laugh, squeezing his own hand so hard his knuckles turned white while his cheeks and nose went a little pink. "You..." He finished, rocking on his heels.
You scrunched your nose, shaking your head. Though you mentally disagreed with him sometimes on your appearance, you smiled and looked back up at him. "Thank you. You're pretty too."
He shrugged himself further into his jacket, hands still wildly fidgeting. "Thank you..."
You both stepped out of the elevator the moment it got to the ground floor, looking for air that wasn't filled with odd tension neither of you could explain. You two walked through the lobby and into the cool midnight air outside, where things were open, dark, and still.
You shut your eyes for a moment and opened your arms to face the gentle, cool wind that blew your hair and hit your face gently. Inhaling deeply, you opened your eyes again to Spencer in a similar state, but much less relaxed looking. Instead, it looked like he was trying to calm himself down.
"Spence, you look out of it," you said, folding your arms over your chest. You had gotten him outside, now maybe instead of distracting him from whatever it was, you could help him through it. It was part of being a friend- profiling wasn't needed to see he was thinking long and hard over something that bothered him. "You can tell me what's wrong."
He started walking down the street toward the neon lights that shone bright with the word 'fro-yo', you stepped quickly to follow. "If I like a girl.. h-how am I supposed to go about telling her?" He asked, not even looking at you. His forehead was creased and his hands in his jacket pockets.
So this was about a girl he liked. Spencer Reid had a crush. Of course, you were oblivious it was you, but Spencer Reid was romantically interested in someone!
Yay?
An odd feeling of happiness came with finding this out and there was an uprising feeling within you like the first drop on a rollercoaster, but it lingered... and it was much less happy. You ignored it, of course, letting your outer emotions display themselves.
"Dr. Spencer Reid, the human encyclopedia- have you finally found a girl that puts you at a loss for words?" You teased, pressing the back of your hand to your head for dramatic effect, struggling to keep up with him.
His mouth twitched, "Maybe."
"Well, to be honest, Spence, just... tell her. Just go at it- ask to kiss her, maybe, then confess after. Or... or, you could confess, see how she takes it, then you can see if you should or shouldn't kiss her based off of if you get rejected or not." You told him, catching him by the shoulder to get him to slow down at the entrance of the frozen yogurt place.
He was much taller than you, so that came with him being that much faster, but that didn't matter now, he had stopped. Spencer looked at you, concern in his eyes, panic. You smiled kindly, "She won't reject you. I don't know any girl who would even think of it." Reassurance, because he needed it.
His eyes trailed to the ground and he ran a hand through his hair, opening the door for you. "And w-what do I say?" Spencer asked when you both went inside. You were the only two there and the cashier must have been in the back room.
You hopped over to the flavours, "I mean, whatever feels right, Spence. If you feel like going on a long, romantic, poet-written rant about how much you like her, do that. If you're afraid to bore her, you can wait for her to speak, but the truth is if she can't listen to you rant, she probably isn't worth going for."
He evaluated your words while you casually got yourself vanilla frozen yogurt. He also scanned the flavours, probably mentally shaming the company for marketing this as somewhat healthier. You giggled watching him try to figure out how to get the yogurt out of the machine as you put raspberries in yours.
"(Y/N), uh..." he said quietly, gesturing you over. The genius's mind was scrambled enough to miss the lever in front of him. You took his cup from him and pulled the lever, to which he made an 'o' shape with his mouth and nodded comprehensively.
"Chocolate mocha," you smiled, handing it to him as he stood there sheepishly again. "Good choice."
You spun back to your yogurt, adding a bit of honey over the top of it all. He followed, choosing raspberries as well, silently adding them. He still didn't seem at rest with the girl thing, you noticed by the way he was failing to open the scoop-box of cookie crumbs. He had long fingers, usually nimble ones, but not so much right now. Spencer was too stressed to work properly. Error in the system, you may have joked if things weren't so bad with him.
When you were both finished, Spencer tapped the little service bell on the desk and a little woman, maybe mid-30s came out wearing the merchandise of the shop. You both placed your cups on the scale and she weighed them for the price, but both you and Spencer pulled out your wallets.
He put his card out faster, so you swat his hand with your card and paid while he mumbled "Ow..." Of course, you checked to see if he was really hurt, but he had his small, crooked smile back on his face. He was okay, maybe he was feeling better?
Saying good morning/night to the lady, you both stepped back into the midnight air, starting to walk, but not back toward the hotel. You'd think with what cases you two had worked on you'd be a little warier, but with each other, you both felt safe. You walked a few steps, eating your yogurt, before Spencer spoke up again. "Is it a bad thing I'm so clueless as to what women like? Everything I know about women is scientific. Chocolate releases endorphins, flowers are associated with beauty and love, but... other than that... I don't know anything."
You swallowed your bite as Reid took his, waiting on your answer. Just as you always listened to him, he always listened to you. He probably valued your opinion over Derek's at times. You waved your spoon in the air when you spoke, "I wouldn't say bad. Everyone starts somewhere for everything. If anything, a man who is willing to learn is more attractive than one who wings it and doesn't ask comprehensive questions to up the relationship quality."
"Asking questions, got it. Should my confession include a gesture, though?" He spoke with his mouth full. Spencer really wanted to get this right- it was admirable. But there came that uneasy feeling again. It was more like an ache this time. Perhaps it was the awkward hours of sleep throwing you off?
You sucked it up, shoved the feeling down. "Really, Spence, it depends on the woman. Do I know her? Maybe I can help- that is unless you want to profile her to get her interests? I can help with that too-"
"No, I-I don't want to profile her, I want to stay away from that, we do that on a near-daily basis."
"We?" You questioned. Reid froze, but kept walking, looking a little petrified. He put more frozen yogurt in his mouth, maybe to shut himself up. You grinned, "We as in you and her are both profilers or we as in you and I profile others together, so you don't want to profile her with me?"
"I don't want us... to profile her," he cleared his throat. "Yeah..."
You sighed with a breathy laugh, "Good, because I was starting to think you were after Emily."
He chuckled, "Oh, no, not Emily. She's too scary for me anyway. Uh..." He swallowed hard, the way he always did was he was anxious or nervous. I saw in his face he'd come to some sort of conclusion. "Don't... don't yell at me for this, alright?"
"Yell at you? Spence, I wouldn't..." You were confused. He set his frozen yogurt down on the bench he had stopped in front of and stood back in front of you, pushing his hair behind his ears. He looked at you with his doe eyes and the wind blew his curls back in front of his face, he looked to the ground. His forehead still creased between his brows, but his eyes were soft and sweet, his nose was slightly scrunched and his mouth was twisted to the side as if he was once again mentally calculating something. You granted him back the silence from earlier, wondering what was going on in that mind of his. That was... until his eyes met yours and he looked so desperately lost and longing and like he ached inside... and you no longer wondered.
You let out another long sigh. She was you.
This girl that he was trying to understand how to win over, she was you. He asked you because he needed to know what you wanted. He was nervous because he was practically confessing to you and you, a profiler, were too blind to see that.
He watched your face for your reaction, waiting for something good, but you were too shocked to react right. He unfroze, hands flying to the roots of his hair and he spun away from you. He started rambling, obviously thinking everything had gone wrong. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, (Y/N). That- that wasn't how I had things planned and I was so certain that maybe you-hm- liked me too."
His words made it true. This was, in fact, happening at 12:56am in the middle of a foreign city. Your words spilled out, stern, focused, serious. "Kiss me then."
He spun around again, "What?"
"Confess, then kiss, remember?" You recounted carefully, looking directly at him, stepping closer.
"But I didn't get to do my whole monologue thing-" He was grinning pretty hard now, all signs of stress removed from his face. He looked brighter than the neon froyo sign, in happiness and disbelief right down at you. You were pretty sure you looked similar as all the pieces fell in place in your mind. It all fit.
"I don't care." You beamed back. "Do it after."
So without wasting another second, he grabbed your face and kissed you. He kissed you with a year and four months' worth of frustration, lust, confusion and past jealousies. His hands holding your jaw, his fingertips in your hair and your hands on his chest, holding fast to jacket. The kiss was a little messy the first two seconds, but every second after it was enjoyable and sweet and oddly powerful. He also tasted rich, like chocolate mocha, but you knew where that came from.
He pulled away first, which surprised you, but he didn't move very far, in fact, he mumbled against your lips as he tucked your hair out of your face. "I think I've liked you since you and I first met. You didn't hate my science jokes and instead of being annoyed with my informational rants, you listened to me. I wasn't expecting you to be so involved with me since you're, well... you're you and you're loud and fun and sweet and beautiful, but we worked so well together how could I ignore what I felt?"
His hand was a little shaky still, but his fingertips on your cheek were gentle. He continued to quietly ramble, "I decided maybe I'd do something with myself that wasn't devoted to the BAU so I thought maybe I'd- I'd tell you this. That I think you're beautiful and smart and talented and maybe you'd understand and feel the same way and now that I know maybe you do, I feel oddly put back to how I'm supposed to be. And... I think I'm supposed to be with you. If this is too soon or... ruins our friendship, I'm sorry and I'll slow it down, but I won't stop liking you."
You couldn't believe that in a three-minute span you had gone from painfully oblivious to so extremely wide awake. But it was in the best way possible after a year and four months of you also being painfully crushed by your secret feelings for Dr.Reid.
"It's fine, Spence," you said quietly, smiling at him with the most happiness you had found in months. "More than fine, I can't believe this is real."
He tucked the other side of your hair behind your ear, "You might have DRC, then. It stands for dream-reality confusion and is a difficulty or inability to determine whether an event or experience occurred during the waking state or whether it was part of a dream. I can assure you that you aren't dreami-"
You reached up and pulled him onto your lips by the back of the neck, smiling into it. This would be the first time you've ever shut him up. He welcomed it by kissing you back again, softer this time. Now that he was sure you wouldn't hate him for it, it felt a lot more natural, a lot more at ease. His passion was still there, as was yours, but this was how things were supposed to be. There was no longer a rush.
The two of you started laughing after it all. Both of you laughed at how painfully oblivious you both were and he went on a small explanation as to why we don't see our own tells and how feelings of romantic relation cloud the judgement. You went over every time the rest of the team had made a comment you both secretly loved or some you dismissed because it was an ache to hear.
Spencer opened up about his fear of rejection and you did the same and that too resulted in more laughing because here you were, so afraid, but you had both been in it for so long. You deserved to have each other after all this time not only because you fit, but because everyone saw it too, far before either of you did.
An innocent, fun, midnight escapade to cheer Spencer up turned into him finding a truly happy state of mind. You took that as a win and success as you tossed frozen yogurt containers in the garbage and found your way back to your room where you told Spencer it was okay to sleep in the bed as long as he was nice.
So he let you turn out the lights and lay next to him, your head on his chest in the way you had done before when it was only an achingly platonic move. He played with your hair, stared at the green walls, ranted about the history of the colour green and soon after, the both of you went right back to sleep, entirely happy.

resident healer |n.s.|
pairing: newt scamander x healer!artist!reader
summary: newt’s brother theseus hires you as his resident healer without newt’s knowledge. however, newt has little use for you so you put your other skills to the test as you spend each day falling a little harder for the man who won’t even speak to you. (super super fluffy! mutual pining, enemies(ish/mild dislike LMAO) to lovers, miscommunication, flustered newt!!)
warnings: extremely minimal swearing, injury, mention of blood
guide: (Y/N) = your name, (Y/L/N) = your last name
word count: 3.6K
a/n: it’s official y’all i’m in love with newt asjdhsj sorry sorry
Newt gasped in pain, jerking his hand away from the Occamy that bit harshly at his finger. He squatted down to meet its eyes, frowning as he scolded, “Don’t be rude.”
The Occamy simply squawked back. Newt tutted, snatching a snack for the small thing beside its nest and tossing them up in the air. The Occamies in the nest all hopped up, hurrying to retrieve the treats before the others did. Newt shook his head with a chuckle as he moved away from the creatures and onto the next.
“Mr. Scamander,” Bunty called from the top of the stairs which led to his apartment, “Miss (Y/L/N) is here.”
Newt dried his hands off on his pants, brows furrowed in confusion. He’d never heard that name before and he knew he wasn’t expecting a guest, so who was at his door? Newt shrugged his vest back on as he made his way up the stairs, his eyes trained on the buttons he was doing up. He was so focused on the task at hand that he forgot he was in the landing of his apartment, his leg lifted in preparation to take another step which led him to tumble into the wall ahead.
“Mr. Scamander!” Bunty gasped. She ran to his side instantly, checking to see if he was injured. She held his face in her hands, staring into his eyes as he tried to pull away. “You really hit your head, didn’t you?”
Newt blinked in shock, finally wiggling free of her grasp and walking backwards into his den. “No, I’m fine, Bunty, thank you.”
In his efforts to move away from her, Newt bumped into another figure, nearly tipping him over. He steadied himself before turning around, his cheeks flushed from embarrassment.
“It’s nice to finally meet you, Mr. Scamander,” you said, warmly. You extended your hand for him to shake, which he did so hesitantly.
“Right, yes.” His eyes scoured the room as he gathered his words. “And you are?”
You looked over him with an involuntary cock of your head, your brows knit together. “You don’t know who I am?”
“Not really, no.”
You laughed humorlessly. “And I suppose you don’t know why I’m here, either.”
Newt cleared his throat and stood a little taller, still fiddling with his wand. “I’m sorry, should I?”
You knew he wasn’t trying to be rude, but you couldn’t help but be a little offended at his words. You were there for him. It was quite literally your job. You gave him a slight frown before straightening out your clothing to keep yourself busy.
“I am (Y/N) (Y/L/N). I’m your new resident Healer.”
Newt began to smile as if you had said something quite funny. He looked up at Bunty, nodding his head towards the door to his basement. She scrambled down as he continued to converse with you.
“My resident Healer?” he repeated.
You nodded. “Yes, I was hired.”
Those words were like a bucket of ice on Newt’s content mood. His smile had dropped from his face and he stopped fiddling with his wand. His eyes slowly drifted up to yours, asking the silent question of who? Who would’ve hired such a thing for him?
You could tell from the irritation swimming in his eyes that he knew exactly who had hired you. From the second you saw Newt, you knew he wasn’t a scary person, but now you weren’t so sure.
“Theseus, your brother, did.”
Newt swallowed hard, tapping his foot against the hardwood floor as he thought. It seemed like forever that you sat in tense silence, hoping you hadn’t done something wrong by telling him. Finally, Newt shook his head, his hair flopping back and forth as he paced around the room, ending at the door and opening it.
“I don’t need a Healer. I’ve been fine on my own thus far.”
You took a step towards him, his eyes still focused on the cold street outside. “Mr. Scamander, I don’t think you understand. I’m a private Healer. I work for no affiliation. I have been hired here and I intend to keep this job.”
“My apologies, Miss (Y/L/N), but I feel your talents would be of better use elsewhere.”
Newt rested a hand on your upper back, pushing you closer towards the door until you were halfway out of it. He refused to meet your eyes as you protested, simply shutting the door in your face. His hand hovered over the doorknob for one minute more as he heard your sighs of exasperation from the other side, a sick feeling settling into his stomach.
When silence finally dawned on the apartment, Newt began to walk away only to hear the distinct sound of ripped paper from outside. He paused and turned just in time to see a note slipped under the door, the sound of your shoes clicking down the stone steps as background noise. Newt squatted to pick up the note, scoffing at your indignant message.
I’ll be here tomorrow at 8 AM, Mr. Scamander.
Best,
(Y/N)
•••
You sat on Newt’s perfectly done up couch, picking at the quilt that sat beside you on the arm of it. Your leg was bouncing and your eyes scoured the room, begging it to give you something to do other than just wait around.
Newt popped out of his bedroom, running a hand through his hair as he ran up and down between his basement and the main floor. You would glance at him out of the corner of your eye every time he did so, wishing he would give you anything to do.
After the fifth time he arrived upstairs, he paused to look at you. You sat at attention, awaiting his useful instructions.
With a limp point towards the room across from him, he stated, “There’s food in the pantry. Help yourself.”
Your hands gripped onto the quilt, balling it up in your fists to contain your anger. You sent a vicious smile Newt’s way and he sent a wary one back before running downstairs.
You had considered yourself to be a person of immense patience, but Merlin was that man testing you. Every day after that you sat on his couch, examining the apartment, hoping that he would come up from his workshop and beg you to help him.
At some point in your weeks of sitting, you stopped dressing the part of Healer. You stopped caring. He clearly didn’t need you but you clearly couldn’t leave, so you took the necessary steps to make that hellish limbo a bit more comfortable. You brought novels and notebooks, blankets and pillows, all so you could sit on Newt Scamander’s couch and pretend you were his star Healer.
Feeling entirely useless one day, you decided to pull out your notebook and sketch a few items around the apartment. If you couldn’t practice one talent, why not practice the other? You ended up drawing a plethora of strange items from where you sat; all of which you assumed to be objects used in his care for his creatures.
You were snapped out of your thoughts as the soft clang of a dinner plate was placed in front of you. You looked up and spotted Newt across the room at his kitchen table as he took a bite of his dinner with one hand and tucked his wand away with the other. You searched the room for a moment, wondering if that was some kind of trap— Newt had never eaten with you before, let alone make you dinner. You picked up the dish with severe caution, carefully taking a bite and smiling softly at how wonderful it tasted.
Your silent dinners became a regular occurrence. You didn’t bother talking to him and he didn’t bother talking to you. You would finish your meal and then pick up whatever you were doing prior until 8:00 when you left.
As you sat on his couch, curled up under a blanket with your sketchbook, you looked over the room to see if there was anything different to draw when your eyes landed on Newt, himself. He was reading a book, splaying the pages open as he chewed on the thumb of his opposite hand. Something about the way he sat was so poetic, and the next thing you knew you were drawing his portrait.
You began to draw his portrait every dinner, a sudden infatuation with the way he looked blossoming within you. After dinner one day, Newt came up to you to collect your plate rather than just charming it to fly to the sink.
“Do you draw?” he asked.
You, so alarmed by his presence, shouted, “No!” and slammed your sketchbook shut, praying to Merlin that he didn’t see his pictures.
“I just thought you were because…” Newt trailed off as he referenced the ink stains on your hands and shapes of objects that must’ve rubbed off on you.
You flushed, finally nodding with a quiet, “Yes, I draw. Not very well, but I quite like it.”
He sunk into the spot next to you, his leg bouncing up and down as he spoke. “I’m sure that you’re a wonderful artist. If you’d ever care to show me some time, I’m sure my opinion will be justified.”
Your cheeks turned pink and you ducked your head to avoid his stare. “Yes, maybe at some point.”
Newt let out a gratified sigh before stalking over to the kitchen, butterflies occupying your stomach. You knew then that you didn’t like drawing him because he was fun to draw. No, you realized that you were quite infatuated with the man who barely spoke a word to you but you had the feeling that you were going to change that.
•••
“Mr. Scamander-”
“Please,” he began, looking at you over his shoulder, “it’s Newt.”
“Right, yes, Newt.” You stood up from his couch with his book in hand, trailing after him as he paced around his apartment. “I’ve been reading your book. It’s quite fascinating, I have to say.”
His steps slowed to a stop and his eyes lit up. “You like it?”
You only looked up from his book when you rammed straight into him. You teetered backwards but his strong arms caught you, holding you flush against his chest. “I-I do.” You wiggled out of his grasp, fearing the increase in your heart rate. “I just, er, find it fascinating that you keep all those creatures in your basement, not more than a few meters below us.”
He shrugged, continuing his pacing until he stopped by the basement door. “Not all of them, but a great deal.” Newt averted his eyes towards the ground, a shy smile spreading across his lips. “I could show you if you like? You could take your sketchbook down and draw some up for me.”
“Are you sure that’s okay?”
“Bunty has the day off and I could use your company-” Newt cut himself off, his eyes wide and blush creeping up his cheeks. “The company, is what I meant. Just some company, is all. Well, that’s not to say I don’t like your company— I’m partial to it, actually— but-”
You chuckled, snatching your sketchbook from your bag on the couch. You passed by the man, stopping to look him once over. “I enjoy your company, too, Newt.”
You spent the rest of the day in the basement with Newt as he explained each creature to you  with the glee of a child. You smiled, wondering if he’d ever smile at you the way he smiled at his beasts, but quickly dismissed the thought.
You ended up drawing some of his creatures, particularly focused on the Murtlap that scurried around its cage. After you had finished a rough sketch of the creature, you had turned to show Newt when you were stopped in your tracks by the sight before you; Newt had a Bowtruckle perched on his finger, speaking to it like a friend, his shirt unbuttoned just enough to reveal a plethora of scars on his collarbone. Your mouth went dry and you knew then and there that you had to draw him.
You focused on every crinkle of his smile, the sharpness of his jaw, the pure adoration behind his eyes. Newt was encapsulating. Everything about him drove you wild. It was almost embarrassing how he made you feel so mad but you couldn’t help it— you were at the point past no return.
As the day came to a close, Newt cleaned up around his basement as his eyes flickered in between you and the broom he held. You had propped his book up on your leg so that you could draw in some more specific details about the creatures you had sketched, wanting it to look perfect if Newt was going to see. He let out a soft exhale in amusement at your contorted position, alerting you to his presence.
“May I see?” His eyes drifted towards your notebook, just grazing over your body.
You nodded and moved over for him to sit next to you. Fortunately, you had been practicing some charms and learned how to hide some of your drawings— specifically the ones of Newt.
To your surprise (and delight), Newt slid up next to you, your shoulders brushing against one another. You let out a shaky breath and met his eyes with a weak smile as you shoved the sketchbook into his arms. His eyes fell downwards towards the drawings, a pit forming in your stomach as he scanned over them.
Every time he would flip the page, he would mutter a compliment to you. It was always something specific, something targeted, as if to make you aware that he was truly fascinated by your drawings.
“You captured Molly’s tuft of white fur perfectly,” he murmured, running a rough finger across the drawing of the Niffler you did. He flipped to the next page, chuckling to himself. “And the Glow Bugs are just...lovely. That’s Poppy right there, I can tell.”
You beamed at him, unable to control how he made you feel. Newt carefully set the journal down behind him as he scanned your face.
“You’re quite...you have this...well, you…” he stammered as he fiddled with his fingers.
“What is it?” you prodded, your voice no more than a whisper.
“You’re...beautiful.”
You sucked in a sharp breath as your eyes involuntarily flickered down towards his lips. Your hand crept its way over his, tracing the scars on the back of it with your thumb as you leaned in closer towards him.
“Mr. Scamander!” a familiar voice called from the top of the stairs, causing the two of you to jump apart. You both looked up to find Bunty padding down the stairs, a wide smile on her face. “Mr. Scamander! I know you said I had the day off but I wasn’t doing much today and thought I could be of some use here!”
Newt glanced at you out of the corner of his eye. “It’s not a problem, Bunty, you can head home.”
“But I’m really not doing anything!”
“Well, I suppose you could help me do final bed checks and whatnot.”
Bunty nodded, scurrying around to do her tasks with an eager grin. Newt flashed you a shy smile as he stood up, his fingers still tangled in yours before he pulled away.
•••
Newt appeared out of his bedroom in the same fashion he did every morning: hurried. However, that time, he shrugged on a coat and walked towards the door of his apartment.
“Going somewhere?” you questioned.
“Yes, I’m off to the Ministry for the day. Bunty’s here if you need anything.”
And with that, Newt left.
Things had been strange since you had almost kissed no more than three days ago. Newt kept all your interactions strictly professional, meaning you were back to barely speaking again. It was frustrating, to say the least, and it made you question whether Newt really didn’t feel the same towards you, that you were coming on to him.
You had been stuck in that void of thinking for days. You would find yourself flipping through your sketchbook and landing on one of the many sketches you did of Newt, frowning as your mind began to spin expert lies to break your heart.
“(Y/N)!”
You could practically hear him calling your name.
“(Y/N)! Please!”
That was real. And it wasn’t Newt, either. It was Bunty.
You hopped off the couch, swapping your sketchbook for your Healer’s bag. You knew the voice of an injured person when you heard it and you weren’t about to take any chances that your instincts were wrong.
You made your way downstairs, finding Bunty by the Occamy nest holding her forearm, some blood seeping through her fingers. You ran up to her, wand drawn as you enchanted the necessary items to fly from your bag.
“Keep your breathing steady and your eyes on me, Bunty,” you said firmly. Bunty nodded, looking down at you with tears crowding her eyes. “Did the Occamy get you?”
“Y-yes. He got out of his nest and into another cage and grew quite a bit larger. I tried to take him back but he bit me.”
“Merlin, Bunty, that’s awful. But I can assure you that you’ll be perfectly fine. You don’t have any serious injuries that I can see.”
You poured a few droplets of an amber liquid from your bag, the skin stretching across her arm to heal the wound. She squealed in pain and you slipped your hand into hers, allowing her to squeeze it to deal with the pain.
“It’s almost over, I promise. We’ll get you to St. Mungo’s after just in case, too. You’re doing fantastic, Bunty. This potion, well, excuse my language but it hurts like a bitch.”
Bunty let out a strangled laugh, a tear slipping from the corner of her eye. You patted her hand, flashing your signature Healer smile at her as you got to your feet. Your bag magically packed itself as you helped Bunty up beside you, wrapping an arm around her and apparating off to the hospital.
You had settled things with the Assistant Healer at St. Mungo’s and Bunty assured you that she didn’t need you there with her for her tests no matter how many times you protested. She simply thanked you, explained that she felt fine already, and squeezed your hand before shooing you off to apparate back to Newt’s apartment.
You arrived back in the basement, snatching your medical bag and making your way upstairs. Your footsteps slowed as you heard quiet murmurs of appraisal coming from the den, the flipping of used parchment scraping against itself.
Your sketchbook.
You darted out into the den, finding Newt back early from his trip to the Ministry with your sketchbook in hand, marveling at the pictures you drew of him. Your heart thundered inside your chest and you went light headed at the sight, your face overheating instantly.
“Did you draw these?” he asked. In an impossible sense, Newt’s tone was entirely neutral as was his expression. Nothing. You couldn’t read anything off of him.
“Give that back.” You dropped your bag and swung your wand out in an attempt to retrieve the book, only to have Newt throw a countercurse at you. You sucked in a sharp breath before trying again only for the same result to be repeated.
“You drew these,” he stated. He met your anxious eyes with furrowed brows, which only worsened the black hole growing inside you.
“There’s no point in denying it, Newt.” You wrapped your arms around yourself, rubbing your hands up and down as your own personal security blanket.
“I think that your drawings are lovely.” Your eyes snapped up to his and he cowered at his statement. “Not because it’s me, that’s not why they’re lovely. It’s because it’s you— obviously not you, it’s me— but you drew them and I’d love for you-”
Feeling rather emboldened by his rambling, you cut Newt off with a defiant statement.
“I like you.”
Newt was silent.
You continued.
“A lot, actually.” You ran a hand through your hair with a wry laugh. “A stupid amount, really. I can’t get you out of my head in a maddening sort of way. And I know that you’re saying you like the drawings but I understand if you’re lying. I think I’d be rather perturbed if I found a journal full of my face, too.”
“Don’t say that,” he muttered with a dismal shake of his head.
“It’s true! It’s odd!”
“No, please don’t say that. It’s not.” With every declaration, Newt’s voice got a little louder
“Why-”
“Because I fancy you!” he shouted, leaving you in a stunned silence. “Sorry.”
You blinked in confusion. Newt fancied you. Newt fancied you. You repeated it over and over again in your head, trying to make sense of his foreign words. You met his worried gaze and whispered to confirm your suspicions, “You fancy me?”
“I-I do.” He laughed to himself, scuffing his foot against the floor. “You’re beautiful and...and witty, and intelligent, and you have this intense gaze like a crow, and it’s just all beautiful. You’re beautiful.” His words tumbled from his mouth like he didn’t have enough time in the world to tell you how he truly felt.
If Newt was going to act like there was no time left, then you were, too. Your wand fell from your loosened grasp as you ran up to him, falling into a deep kiss. His hands hovered in the air for a moment before he embraced you, holding you as tight to his body as he could so his lips could still be connected to yours.
You pulled away, gasping for air as he rested his forehead against yours. He reached a calloused thumb up to rub over your bottom lip before venturing up to your cheekbone.
Seems as if he did need a Healer after all.

Soulmates were a very widely known myth that many believed and wished to experience, but some found it to be a silly little idea created by those who romanticised the idea to be with someone for the rest of their lives. The thought of loving someone and being loved unconditionally was indeed one that many wished to have, but since soulmates were rather rare, people often ignored its existence and chose to find love themselves. According to the myths, some people experienced finding their soulmate with a simple touch, where for a mere second, they saw images of their future life together. For some it was a sensation, a pulling force telling them that they belonged together. There were some theories where they could recognise each other’s scent. Many different myths have been spread throughout the centuries, but there was one mutual theory in all of them. When it happens, you just know it, you feel it, every single fibre of your body screams for that certain person to stay in your life.
You were one of those who believed it but didn’t think it would ever happen to you. You hoped, of course you did, but you were more logical than to rely on an old myth. Having such a strong connection was a lovely idea, but it was hard to believe that it would be handed to you on a silver plate. All the fairy tales you have heard about from your parents said that the soulmate-bond would be activated after your 18th birthday if you had one. But of course, it’s been a month and you have felt no different than before, reassuring you that you weren’t any special.
You were seated in the Gryffindor common room, legs thrown over the arm of the sofa, hanging down on the side as you doodle little drawings on a piece of ripped parchment.
“What are you doing?” You heard a voice and as you looked up, you recognised Lily standing in the doorway.
“Just drawing,” you replied, turning back to your parchment, ignoring your friend.
“Good, good,” she nodded and took a seat beside you, staring at your doodles.
“Is there anything you want?” You asked, turning back to her with an expectant expression, brows running high.
“Nope,” she popped the ‘p’ as she shook her head. You frowned at her rather strange behaviour, but once again turned back to your drawings, trying to ignore her staring. However, it seemed to be a task easier said than done. Feeling Lily’s breath on your neck and her eyes attached to your drawing, whilst squirming in her place chased all your creativity away. You folded up your paper and looked at your friend once again.
“You are being fairly annoying,” you stated with a grimace.
“I didn’t even do anything,” she huffed, crossing her arms in front of her chest and turning to the opposite direction, giving you a side-glance every once in a while.
“Breathing down my neck and staring at me is quite creepy and as much as I love you, your behaviour is very unusual so spill it, what’s going on?” You asked firmly, causing Lily to scrunch her nose and pout in a child-like manner. She was a very smart witch and an even better friend, but at times she was capable of getting on your nerves with a simple look. “Come on, I don’t have all day to wait for you,” you rushed her as you stood up and tossed the folded parchment in the drawer of your desk and closed it with a thudding sound.
“I have overheard a little discussion between James and Sirius. They were talking about you,” she smirked playfully, wiggling her brows as though you were supposed to understand.
“I’m not sure what kind of reaction you are expecting of me,” you frowned in confusion.
“Well, certainly a happier one than the one I’m getting now,” she grimaced. “I have been hearing nothing else from you, but how much you’ve liked James since the first time you talked,” she tried to lead you to the right direction, but you still stood there cluelessly.
“So?” you asked.
“So? James and Sirius were talking about you,” Lily repeated slower as if you didn’t understand before.
“I heard you for the first time too, I’m not stupid. I simply don’t understand what you want from me. James and Sirius are my friends, they will inevitably talk about me if I come up in a subject,” you shrugged nonchalantly.
“You are unbelievable. I overheard James telling Sirius that he has feelings for you,” Lily exclaimed, throwing her hands in the air. But instead of excitement you gave her a deadpan expression. “Okay, I’m not sure what’s going on with you today, but I’m honestly starting to think you are broken or something,” she huffed.
“We both know that James has been running after you for years, Lils. Sure, we are close, I love him to bits, however, I am nothing but a friend to him. I’m not sure what you heard or what you misunderstood to be exact, but we both know James has liked you for years and I find it hard to believe that his last year will be the one where he changes his mind so abruptly,” you explained. Whilst a part of you wished to believe it was true, a more logical side made sure to crush those hopeful thoughts that tried to sway you.
“I’m sorry, but I’m quite sure of what I heard. And why couldn’t he? Crushes come and go, and he hasn’t asked me out or showed any interest in me for the last month or so. I do believe he has feelings for you, but you have been friends for so long, you can’t expect him to just walk up to you and confess,” Lily tried to pressure your logical side, but you couldn’t find it in you to agree. You have liked him for so long, you were numb to even the thought of him ever reciprocating your feelings.
“Ok, I accept that. Now that we have concluded this conversation, can we actually grab something to eat?” You asked whilst walking towards the door and opening it for Lily, waiting for her to follow you.
“You’re definitely broken,” she huffed, annoyed by your nonchalant behaviour.
“And you are rather annoying today. I’m glad we both have negative feelings towards each other. It will be a beautiful day,” you put on a fake smile, earning a grimace from Lily.
“You have been avoiding him recently,” she added with a side-glance, making you groan as you headed down the stairs to the common room.
“Can we stop talking about him for a second?” you asked, pleading with the girl.
“Fine, but I’m not giving up just yet,” shrugging, she hurried up her steps and walked out the common room, leaving you farther behind. Rolling your eyes, you heaved a heavy sigh and followed her to the Great hall.
As you sat at the Gryffindor table with Lily on your right, eating your usual morning toast, James took a seat on your other side whilst Sirius sat down beside Lily, followed by Remus and Peter across the table.
“We have a beautiful day today, don’t we?” James beamed, his unusually positive attitude making you frown. Everyone seemed to act unlike themselves and you certainly didn’t like the way they behaved.
“I guess,” you replied with a grimace. “Would have been better if Lily didn’t start my day by dancing on my nerves,” you groaned.
“I was simply stating facts,” she huffed.
“That could possibly be a definition of annoying too if we dig deeper,” you retorted.
“It’s not my fault you are hard-headed,” she rolled her eyes.
“It’s not my fault you are spreading false rumours,” you shrugged nonchalantly.
“It’s not my fault you can’t see the forest from the tree,” she grimaced.
“Woah, woah, let’s just stop it there. We have quite an intense breakfast on our hands. What do you say we just continue eating quietly?” James asked, trying to stop your bickering.
“Been doing that until you arrived with your overly-positive attitude,” you replied as you bit into your toast.
“I’m sorry for having a nice day. Instead of being gloomy, you could try it too,” he raised a questioning brow, wearing a playful smirk across his face. In normal circumstances you would have returned his smile, feeling all warm inside, feeling your cheeks flush. He had a certain vibe that always made you feel happier even if you were down. But not in that moment. It just didn’t work.
“Will take your advice into consideration,” you huffed as you stood up from the table, finishing your breakfast. “See you later,” you nodded and headed towards the exit. You barely reached the first classroom across the corridor when you heard your name being called.
Turning around you, you saw James walking towards you in a haste. “Hmm?” You hummed in a questioning tone.
“You are acting strange recently. I can’t talk to you, I barely see you and honestly, I feel like you are avoiding me,” he stated, nervously rocking from one foot to the other. Indeed, you have been trying to keep a distance from the boy, knowing he fancied Lily whilst you liked him. Since your birthday you expected some kind of sign that would lead you to your soulmate, but it never happened. No images, no scents, no touches. The person you liked for so long had a crush on someone else and when you finally thought you might have a chance to find someone to connect with, you had to release you as one of many didn’t have a soulmate.
“Look, I just prefer being alone nowadays,” you lied. Imagining a pitiful look in his eyes, knowing why you have been avoiding him was something you never wanted to see. He was always supportive, and you could always rely on him, but this time you couldn’t possibly open up to him. You didn’t want his apologetic looks.
“Seven years. It’s been seven years since we first met and almost as long since we have become friends. I think I know you fairly well. Sure, people change, so did you and I, but we have changed together, for me you are still the same person I befriended. I don’t understand why you think that I would believe you. Wanting to be alone on occasions is fine, you have always done that, but you never closed me out completely until recently. I need to know what’s going on,” he pleaded, his words, his eyes, even his tone screaming for some kind of an explanation, but you couldn’t give him what he wanted.
“I’m sorry,” you simply apologised and started walking away. Giving him an explanation would have revealed your secret and you were not ready for that. Maybe once when your feelings were finally gone and you decide to sit down to talk about the old times, being nostalgic, maybe then you would have the courage, but not in that moment.
“Sorry is not enough,” he raised his voice as he hurried after you and grabbed your wrist. The feeling of his warm palm across your skin sent shivers down your spine. Your lips parted in surprise as you felt electricity run through the spot where he held onto you, starting off your heart in a quick pace. Feeling your cheeks heat up, you turned around and looked into his brown eyes as wide as yours, trying to figure out the unusual, sudden feeling. You felt your chest compress, air stuck in your lungs as you watched the man you had feelings for being just as shocked as you were. Knowing, hoping, believing what that certain electrical feeling running through you meant, it frightened you. You never wanted to be bonded with a man who loved someone else and the simple thought of you having to watch him run after his loved one made you feel as though your heart was shattering into the smallest of pieces, where picking them and trying to mend them wasn’t an option anymore.
Both of you stood stunned, his fingers firmly around your wrist, staring at each other, wordlessly trying to communicate. It was James who recovered first and let go of your arm, leaving it to fall beside you. You wanted to speak, you wanted him to speak, but none of you knew the right words to voice. In your shocked state you just wanted to disappear, you wanted to run away. The awkward silence was making you mad and frustrated, wanting nothing but to get as far from him as possible. So, you did. You hurried off, the sound of your heavy steps following you through the corridor. Hearing James’ pleading voice to stop you didn’t seem to work, you hurried your steps, not knowing where you were heading.
“Stop!” James appeared in front of you, stepping out of a hidden door you have not seen before.
“Leave me alone, James,” you pleaded, desperately needing some time alone.
“You felt it too. I know you did, so stop running away,” he stepped in your way as you tried to walk around him. He was determined to keep you there, to talk to you, to finally stop you from avoiding him.
“Why? I felt nothing. Just get away from me,” you raised your voice, even though you have never done it before, but it didn’t work. James wasn’t giving in.
“Enough,” he raised his voice this time, but it wasn’t threatening nor aggressive, he was firm and somewhat assertive. “You can avoid me if you like, you can ignore me if that makes you feel better but telling me that you didn’t feel anything when I touched you, lying to my face, that I will not take,” he exhaled slowly. “I know you felt it too and we both know what it meant. You are not stupid and nor am I. And if you feel like pretending that it didn’t happen,” he swallowed and heaved a heavy sigh,” we can do that, I will not force you. I’m only asking you not to run away from me,” he pleaded with you.
Feeling the tears collecting in your eyes, you tried to keep them in bay, not wanting James to see you so vulnerable. A heavy sigh left your lungs as you looked up at him, locking your eyes with him. “I— I don’t know how to handle this, James. You have been in love with Lily for so long, I don’t know how to react. I don’t want to be bonded to someone who already loves someone else,” you finally voiced your thoughts, finding it hard to resist the pleading look across his face.
“I never loved Lily,” he shook his head with a deep frown. “I was in a way infatuated with her, I liked the idea of liking her, but I didn’t love her. And I don’t feel that way anymore. I haven’t even tried getting closer to her in the last couple of months. If you were here, you could have seen it, but you decided to avoid me at all cost,” his tone, his demeanour, his firm stance radiated confidence and sincerity. Indeed, you haven’t seen much of him and you couldn’t judge what happened around your friend circle recently, but it was hard to believe that after all this time he just gave up on Lily.
“Look, whether you like her or not is not my business really and you don’t owe me any explanation. Maybe in the future you will like someone else, and I will be happy for you, but we have been friends for so long, I don’t want this stupid bond to stand in your way. So, let’s just pretend it didn’t happen, alright?” you tried to compromise, but James shook his head heavily in reply and stepped closer to you.
“How can you be so silly? You and this bond will always be standing in the way of me liking someone else, because regardless of that stupid bond, it is you that I like,” he confessed, his eyes a storm of emotions. He reached for your hand, cupping them in his, squeezing yours gently. “I like you. I really do. It has nothing to do with that bond,” he swallowed nervously. You tried to respond, say something, but instead you kept opening and closing your mouth as if you were a fish out of water, gaping, finding it hard to breath. It was hard to believe, but you couldn’t deny the tiny bit of flame you felt deep within you, hope that meant you still had a chance with him.
“But why?” you exclaimed in shock, not even realising your own words. James let out a mild chuckle, your words catching him off guard.
“Because you were always there for me, because you always knew what to say to me, how to hold me, how to deal with me. Because whenever I’m around you I’m both calm and nervous at the same time. Because you make me feel like a little child, wanting to smile whenever I see you. You are beautiful of course, but regardless I feel as though there’s this pulling force between us. I didn’t realise that I liked you until you were avoiding me. And it was not because of the bond, but because I realised that you were not there beside me and I missed the smallest of details that makes you—you. Scrunching your nose, pouting, grimacing at my silly ideas, scolding me for not studying. Every single little detail that makes you— you, was just missing from my life and it was killing me. I do like you more than you can imagine with or without that stupid bond,” he replied with a lopsided smile across his face, leaning his forehead against yours.
“But Lily—” you wanted to say, but he cut you off.
“There is no Lily. There’s only you and me. I just want you to maybe give me a chance to try if we work, if this— whatever is between us works,” he pleaded and instead of a reply, you stood on your tiptoes and attached your lips to his. He was hesitant, he didn’t know what was happening, but he didn’t let his chance slip out of his hands. He let go of your hands and cupped your face for better access, devouring your lips, losing himself in the moment where it was indeed only you and him.
“I like you. I like you so much,” you breathed against his lips, stunning him. His eyes widened at your words, clearly shocked by your sudden confession.
“But you have been avoiding me,” he exclaimed.
“I couldn’t be around you. I couldn’t watch you run after Lily anymore,” you shook your head, nervously biting your lip.
“I’m so sorry for putting you through that,” he hinted a small kiss on your forehead. “I promise I will make up for it if you give me a chance.”
“Wasn’t I clear enough?” you giggled softly as you placed your hands on his, holding your face. “There is nothing I want more than to give us a chance,” you smiled, reassuring him that you wanted him just as much as he wanted you.
“Well, since we have already missed the beginning of the first class, we could start off by trying to regain the last month you have so rudely taken from me,” he raised a questioning brow, hoping you would agree.
“I guess we could skip a class after all,” you giggled softly.
“Or more than one,” he wiggled his brows as he captured your lips once again, impatiently waiting for all the memories you were to experience together.

Angel takes another sip from his beer before putting the bottle down, his ringed hand coming up to bring the half-gone cigarette up to his lips. He takes a long drag, lungs burning as he holds it in for longer than usual, a cloud of smoke billowing around him as he lets out a slow breath. The cloud surrounds him and he can't help but see it as a demonstration of how he's felt lately.
Cloudy.
Hazy.
Out of focus.
It's been weeks since you and he had split, and despite what everyone had said, it had not gotten easier. On the contrary. It seemed like every day it got even harder to deal with. It had been mutual; both of you agreeing that Angel just wasn't around as much as you wanted him to be. The club took a lot of his time, and his side business with Los Olvidados took up even more. You missed him and while he wanted nothing more than to give you every little bit of his attention, the club had to come first. It had been heartbreaking, tears shed on both sides, but you both knew that it was for the better. Best to break things off civilly before it came to a head and lead to a blow-up.
Even still, it wasn't something that either of you wanted, more a necessary evil. You had kept your distance, neither of you contacting the other nor meeting up. You had stayed away from the clubhouse, something that had proven harder than you had anticipated. EZ and Coco had taken Angel out to a local bar, hoping to get the Mayan to relax and let go for the night. It had proven difficult, Angel simply smoking and drinking in near silence, only speaking when spoken to. When he heard your voice, he figured it was just his imagination, his brain taunting him for his decision to let you go. He scoffed, disgusted with his own mind for toying with him like that. It wasn't until he heard your voice again, closer this time as it ordered your favorite drink that he sat up straighter, head whipping around to look down the bar.
And there you were, arms resting on the shiny counter as you leaned forward, talking to the bartender.
You looked stunning.
Your skin was glowing, the warm lights in the bar casting shadows and accenting highlights. He could see the slight shimmer on your shoulder, knowing exactly which lotion you were wearing. And he could smell you then, his brain tapping into his senses. He could remember running the tip of his nose along your shoulder blade as you rubbed the lotion into your skin after a shower,  the scent of you intoxicating. You looked the same too, though the red on your lips was something a bit new. You only wore it every now and then, when the mood struck you. Angel could remember vividly the time he had left your house in a rush early in the morning, only to be teased by the guys for the lipstick behind his ear that he had missed in the shower. It was an elbow to the ribs that drew his attention away from you and back to Coco.
"Stop staring, you look creepy as fuck."
Angel scoffed, waving his hand dismissively before turning to look back at you. When he did, his heart jumped, finding your eyes on him now. They were wide, clearly not having expected to see him there. The corner of your mouth turned up slightly and he nodded once, returning his own pisspoor excuse of a smile. He looked away first, not wanting to make you uncomfortable. He'd be lying if he said it wasn't also to keep his composure.
The soft-touch to his back startled him and he looked behind him, ready to tell whichever woman it was that he wasn't interested. But there's your voice again.
"Hey."
He turned to look at you and unsurprisingly, you look even more beautiful than he remembers you. His voice is breathless as he responds.
"Hey, querida."
You looked to EZ and Coco then, offering them hugs before coming to stand closer to Angel again.
"Sorry, didn't want to just ignore you and not say hi."
All three nodded, Angel's eyes still glued to you as the other two shared a look. EZ was standing then, Coco following suit.
"We're gonna go get some air, we'll be back. Good seeing you."
It was tense and awkward, the two other Mayans missing you but not wanting to anger Angel by making it seem like they were trying to rope you back in. With it being only the two of you now, Angel swallowed before pointing to the seat Coco had just been in.
"You wanna sit, or..."
He could see the hesitation on your face, not knowing what was the best choice, and his mouth was moving before his brain could keep up as per usual.
"I want you to."
Your eyes were warm as they landed back on him and you nodded softly, your voice even softer as you took a seat.
"Ok."
There was an awkward silence, neither of you knowing what to say. Angel spoke first, going with the option of full transparency.
"I miss you."
The sad smile that graced your lips had him wanting to wrap you up in his arms at once, but he refrained. With a nod, you agreed.
"I miss you too."
It was the tears welling in your eyes that sealed it for him as he pushed closer to you, his knees against yours as he placed his hand on your back, his own heart pained.
"Don't cry, mama."
You chuckled, though there was nothing funny, your hand coming up to dab at your eye.
"Last person I thought I would bump into tonight was you."
Angel nodded, offering a small smile.
"If it makes you feel any better, I wasn't expecting that shit either."
There was a bit of silence then, Angel biting his lip as he swallowed down the urge to just take you into his arms. With his fingers running up and down your back, he sighed, looking back over at where you had been to see your friends there, the women quickly looking away under his gaze. You chuckled again, sitting up straighter now that the overwhelming emotion had subsided.
"They brought me out to try and get over you. I can see EZ and Coco did the same."
"And how's that working out?"
Angel's question was direct and so were his eyes as they stared down at you. With a shrug, you answered.
"Obviously not great if I'm sitting here crying in a bar."
The Mayan chuckled and so did you, the chemistry between the two of you so intense it burned.
"Wanna go for a ride? I only had one beer."
You looked at Angel as he offered, the hope clear in his eyes. With a nod, you smiled genuinely for the first time in what felt like forever. Holding his hand out, Angel helped you stand, tossing a bill onto the bartop.
"You wanna tell your friends? I can take you home after."
"Yeah. I'll grab my purse and meet you outside."
Angel nodded, leaning down to press a soft and slow kiss to your forehead before walking toward the exit. Coco and EZ were leaning against the wall, both wincing as they saw him walk out alone.
"She didn't wanna hear it?"
Angel was about to answer when you came out behind him, throwing a small wave at the boys who were now smiling instead. They waved back and stood back up straight.
"We'll see you tomorrow then."
Angel nodded, a little bit of light back in his eyes.
"Yeah, I'll see you."
The two of them were walking back inside then, leaving you and your ex, though it felt like things might not be staying that way. The love that the two of you had was too strong to throw away over tough times. Holding his hand out once again, Angel looked at you as he waited.
"You wanna try us out again?"
Your nod was confident as you gazed at him, a tiny sparkle back in your eyes.
"I'd rather have you only sometimes than not at all."
That was a sentiment that Angel could agree with and he grinned, his hand encasing yours as he walked with you toward his parked bike, happy to know he was going to have his girl with him once again.
