I'm still kind of half-convinced they are gonna use the windmill to reverse the entire timeline of the show so that none of this shit happens. I think this based on 2 things I've seen so far:

1) Sesshomaru looks like he's gonna die, and I bet if that happens, they're gonna make it to where the Tensaiga can't bring him back, so they're gonna make it to where the girls have to change the timeline so that doesn't happen, and by extension, maybe even all the other stuff.

I just don't see Shitrise killing off their "favorite" character and leaving him dead permanently.

2) that one moment in I believe the new ED where the girls are in kimonos (where we see Moroha in miko garb and just looking so precious before she jumps back into her usual robes).

I just have a theory that that little moment w/ the girls is after they could've erased the current timeline and where they all (in the new timeline) grow up together and w/ their parents.

I also found out sometime ago that the screenwriter also worked on Sailor Moon, which was an anime that also had a history for changing/altering/erasing timelines or dimensions. And apparently YH has a history of ripping off or straight-up stealing stuff and plot from SM and other anime.

I'm just saying I feel like this could very well be a possibility.

Personally a very very small part of me (the part that still somewhat cares about what happens in this series) kind of wants that to be the case ONLY because InuKag and Moroha should never have been seperated, even if YH is a bad, non-canon, what-if fanfic.

Everything else can go burn in a ditch for all I care, but Inukag and Moroha really should get a do-over, even if the universe they were seperated in was an alternate universe (like YH).

That's the small of me though. The rest of me just wants this shitshow to preferably be cancelled, but if we have to see this crap to the end, the small part of me hope's for that ending solely for inukag and Moroha's benefit.

Oh definitely if Sesshomaru dies there's no way that will be permanent, people would be showing up at their offices with pitchforks lmao.

I've been wondering why they keep showing the girls in modern outfits too. They said before that time travel was going to be an important element but they literally haven't talked about it again since they arrived in the feudal era, lol. I STILL think the show would have been a lot more fun if it was a "reverse Inuyasha" where Moroha falls down the well and ends up stuck in the modern era and she has to go back.....

I haven't watched Sailor Moon myself but yes Sumisawa worked on it, and from what I heard the rainbow pearls plot is essentially copied from something he and/or the other writers added in the SM anime (x). If erasing timelines is something that also happened in Sailor Moon, then it's definitely possible they will do the same in Yashahime.

I don't know if I really care personally.... I just wanted a bit of serotonin from the inukagmor reunion (and potentially more interactions) but I know I will go back to pretending none of this ever happened afterwards lol. A time reset would make discussions easier with "casual fans" (and I know people will call me a gatekeeper again but by that I mean people who consider everything anime-only canon). But I never really talk about Inuyasha with anyone outside of tumblr so... it's not that big of a deal? Idk, it would definitely be better with a time reset for sure tho.

That anaversary aizen looks absolutely fabulous, he looks like a figure skater xd.

I heard along time ago the last arc of the anime was being animated finally bc they pulled a 90s sailor moon were the last season was not either animated or dubbed untill decades later.

I recall near the end of the current 366 episodes there was an episode were the creapy demon ppl woke up in hell and we're all bitter, and there was the other guy who was like, iM cOmEiNg FoR u IChIgO, but then is never mentioned again after and I'm like,why? Why is lt there just plopted randomly into a different arc that seams unrelated.

And locking aizen up underground seems ok, but It deff won't hold, and he will. Escape, and he will kill, you either need that one spell from star, dubbed, the darkest spell of moon the undaunted, a powerfull dark spell that killed immortal beings, that came from best character, eclipsa, the queen of darkness.

We need that.

Or stick him I'm crystal like eclipsa was in star. Is there no one who could trap him in ice or crystal for all eternity.

Yes, I love anniversary Aizen. His original octopus-butterfly hollow design was ugly so I'm glad he's back to being the fashion icon he is.

Locking Aizen up underground once is one thing, doing it twice after saying he got more powerful by just sitting there, and he escaped to battle the Quincy Soul King God... is another. I think he should have escaped at the end of the Quincy arc. That is the only feasibility.

I heard the anime is coming back for the Quincy arc as well, but because of COVID its probably going to be delayed. (I'm not gonna watch it until the Rain section of the arc then I'm dipping out. I'm only here for Zangetsu)

And my friend and I were laughing because out of ALL the things. Kubo could do in this anniversary. He gave Syazel his dick back after going to hell. That is iconic. (that's where his hole was located, and now that its not on his body ... well...) This is the funniest thing Kubo has EVER pulled. Kudos to you, sir.

The entire internet is freaking out over Ukitake being in hell. Honestly Kubo has done far worse, and we've established that Soul Society is a corrupt system that hasn't changed, so I'm not surprised he would pull something like this.

At the same time, Kubo 1. cheated his audience. 2. continues to prove me right that he cannot bring himself to kill his characters

1. Hollows who have commit murder in their human life are sent to hell. Syazel and Aaorniero are two of these hollows, and yet, when they are killed, there is NO gates of hell scene. We see them there later in the hell chapter (which was more of a promotion for the fourth movie and I didn't believe it would hold any merit)

But the same goes for Ukitake. We never see the gates of hell take him. What, was hell late? Did hell's gates get lost like an uber before picking him up? It's bull. Withholding such vital information from your audience, not showing the gates of hell when they should pick up this soul IMMEDIATELY is ... I mean its a lie. Kubo lied to his audience.

2. Now we are told powerful shinigami are sent to hell when they die. First of all that sounds like a security threat. Wouldn't shinigami want revenge for that? Or attempt to escape? Why would they still hold loyalty after being sent to a prison of eternal suffering?

Also "Yhwach and Aizen" were the only ones keeping Hell's gates closed is way too convenient and doesn't really make any sense. I feel like Aizen should have deliberately gone to hell to retrieve powerful shinigami / hollows for his army instead of keeping it /closed/.

This is definitely a Kubo-doesn't-know-what-he's-doing-and-is -making- stuff-up-as-he-goes, but it might have a pinch of merit because of previous plot lines.... but either way, there's some big plot holes here, but again, its Kubo, so I expected nothing less.

Again, he can't kill off his characters. He introduced zombification, he introduced immortality through the hougyoku, he has Orihime and Hachigen's reversal / rejection abilities. He brought back Luppi, friggen.... a character who's entire upper half of his body was incinerated. Like.... come on. No. He's dead, you can't bring him back like that. That's a cop out and just weird. You're taking away consequences and grief.

(Also Yamamoto and Unohana deserve to be in hell far over Ukitake, they've done some fcked up stuff in their pasts unlike him)

Also Kubo's favorite character is Mayuri, which.... you're allowed to have a favorite problematic character. But Keeping said character alive and bared from the consequences of abusing his daughter, murdering innocents, and experimenting on your own squad members? Nah. Nope. Kill him, Kubo. Kill this dude.

(his weird attachment to Mayuri is probably why he keeps bringing Syazel back, since Syazel is Mayuri 2.0, but Syazel is the bad guy who does face consequences for his actions while Mayuri is not)

Also, I'm certain Kazui and Orihime are going to be THRILLED that their precious husband/dad is going to hell when he dies :)

(I just... Rukia teased Ichigo about leaving Orihime at home. She teased him about having a house wife who he leaves all the chores to. Orihime had two panels. She checks on her son who promised he would be at home and sleep. Kazui fcking breaks his promise like it never mattered to him and JUMPS out the window after pretending to sleep in front of his mother. ... An 8 year old... alone... in the middle of the night.)

Orihime is abandoned. She is not invited to SS, she is not informed of what is going on, her son leaves her.... I...

Orihime is a side character. She doesn't matter anymore. She hasn't mattered for a long, long time.

A part of me is glad she had little screen time, since she tends to waste it, but another part of me is embroiled with rage.

I've even see people try to defend this. "Orihime and Ichigo can't be together ALL the time, that's an unhealthy relationship!" and I'm like guys... that's not the point. The point is Orihime is not part of Ichigo's other life. Any shinigami stuff from now on is none of her business. She's going to stay at home while Kazui and Ichigo go off and save the world. Ichigo is going to be fighting by Rukia and Renji while Orihime watches from the sidelines, or worse, doesn't even know what is going on with her husband and son. Orihime is going to be uninformed and abandoned, because she has not proven she is capable of fighting by their sides(go on, @ me. I will fight this. She's a failure.), and also because she prefers a human life over a dead one. Which is ironic, because she married a dead man. Ichigo is a shinigami, and he will be one forever. god forbid she ever meets his Zanpaktou. She would tremble in fear at the monsters her husband harbors in his soul, especially when she realizes they don't care about her and would rather see her dead. (Zangetsu would absolutely kill Orihime. Not sure about Kazui, but Orihime has not accepted Zangetsu, she does not like either of them, and the feeling is assuredly mutual.) frick now I want to make a comic about this

Also still frustrated over Zangetsu's shikai / bankai regression. Kubo once again lied to his audience. Ichigo has no bankai. How ridiculous is that? The main character of BLEACH doesn't have a bankai. Insulting.

(RIP to Chad. He doesn't exist anymore. He's just gone. No mention, no cameo. Gone.)

Kazui is a demon child. That character from the novels? Hikone? They're the same character. Literally same personality, same power level. Its worse because Kazui is a liar. He constantly goes behind his parents' backs. He can summon creepy fish and creepy eyeballs and open portals like is ANYONE aware of this? How has SS not kidnapped Ichigo's son and experimented on him / locked away his powers yet? All substitute shinigami require a reiatsu controlling / spy badge to keep them in line. Where is Kazui's? Or is he just a weird fullbringer?

I was worried Kubo was gonna try and pull a knock off Boruto but luckily he kept the focus on Ichigo and the others. But that being said, Ichika and Kazui are now just... sort of there? Kazui was kinda just.... having his own adventure that doesn't matter to the plot at hand, and Ichika had some nice characterization at first but she just hid behind her dad the whole time.

I have a feeling Kazui is gonna step in at the last minute or do some major behind the scenes thing that indirectly interferes with the main plot so no one will realize how powerful and dangerous he actually is. Its sad because Ichika is the superior character in personality and likability, but she clearly is not going to have a bigger part in this.

Ichigo having a normal life after everything still feels extremely boring and uncomfortable to me. Everyone's like 'I'm still bLEACH!" but.... BLEACH just... doesn't feel like BLEACH anymore. It hasn't for a while now.

There's two new shinigami characters. Didn't care for the girl, but the Sign Language kid who talks to animals is adorable ... however... he just reminds me of Chad, and I just... it hurts knowing Chad has essentially been deleted. Chad and Orihime are officially benched. They have chosen the human world, and Orihime has given Ichigo his spawn so she has no more use/purpose to him anymore... ////sigh

Also. This is claimed to be a new "arc". So is the BLEACH manga coming back? What is happening. I thought Kubo was tired and didn't want to do BLEACH anymore. I thought Shounen Jump cut him off. People made so many excuses for Kubo and why the past two arcs have been so badly written the past 6 years and now almost everything they've attempted to defend him with has been revoked.

BLEACH is going to continue to screw up its plot lines and characters, so Its probably best for it to stay dead but I've seen a lot of Kubo stans drooling over this content, they're desperate for BLEACH's return, but its already given out all its possible revelations. There's really nothing else to top here. It's just going to make things up as it goes along ,and I'm not really here for half-assed writing like that, especially since the damage of rushing the previous manga has already been done. Kubo and Shounen Jump are riding off a money nostalgia. None of this was planned.

Honestly though.... overall feeling of this chapter, not as bad as it could have been.

Syazel stole the spotlight, and he's my friend's favorite character, so that's all that really matters.

Ok, so i watched th new sailor moon movie and boy do i have some thoughts

Note: if you, by any means, want to talk about sailor moon lore, theories, or just fan over the show, send me a message i am in dying need of someone to talk to about this

So, i...i don't know how to feel about the way the movie just changed the dream arc plotline, i watched the 90s show, and i really adored how the whole motive of queen Negerelia was...ultimately, loneliness, as she was always praised as a queen yet never loved as a person, she has a truly beautiful resolution when she reverses into her childhood and seeks out for genuine human care...the movie kicks that and reduces her to "bad scary girl craving darkness" ...which is just a shame, i understand this, along so many other changes were made so the arc could fit a summarized movie format...but it still such a loss...also, this twisted plotline gave a reason to the down fall of the platinum millennium...which is...not great?

I also don't understand why they kind of merged the argument of the stars arc with the dream arc? Like, the whole " crystal inside you" thing is supposed to be the big deal during the stars arc but they just kind of..borrowed it so that the resolution made more sense... but ok? Furthermore, the whole "little princess guardian inside the girls" deal was weird, like, it kind of made sense? But it was weird, that, along with the "we have castles in our planets thing" just...opens so much possibilities, are the sailor scouts rulers of their planets? Do they have duties over there, if so, that applies to ALL scouts? Even the asteroid amazons? And that's another thing, the movie implies the Amazon quartet are going to be the protector sailor scouts for chibi moon? As the Senshi are to sailor moon? How does that work? Are the sailor tittles inheritable? Like, is chibiusa eventually going to be sailor moon when her mother becomes the queen, likewise, the other scouts are ever going to step down as scouts to assume other roles while other girls become new sailor Mercury, Mars and the others? Or...no? How does any of that work?

Another thing is..as much as I love Helios and chibiusa's relationship, as they said Mamoru, Helios, the earth and helisium are all connected and "the same" doesn't imply that somehow chibiusa is dating her father? What? Like, in the show it wasn't portraited that way, it was said that Helios worked under Mamoru as the guardian of helisium, and his relationship with chibiusa made sense because this two share a confidant dynamic, chibiusa told him her woes and he offered advice, building up to mutual trust on one another, and even if i crave more of this two, i don't like how the movie is like " oh yes she is my damsel, she has always been and always will be"... pleaseee i need actual romance for this two lovebirds...

Last of my complaints would be the way they treated Haruka...i absolutely adored the three parent dynamic the outer senshi have with Hotaru, it was lovely seeing them raising her! Yet, i feel they made this lesbians so, so, dirty...this movie stayed true to sailor moon's iconic gender ambiguity with the Amazon trio, going as far as to openly address the crow guy as a man as he wore a beautiful dress, putting the queerness in front of everyone's eyes..

Yet, Haruka and Michiru, both who are confirmed lesbians, where just left there...in both the gender ambiguity of our favorite tomboy Haruka and her relationship with Michiru, first, we all now that Haruka has no problem being addressed as a man, in one panel of the manga she even says it's funny, however, the movie lack the " oh she is actually a girl (or at the very least not a full on guy) , just loves manly things" moment, which i believe it's crucial to the character, with that in mind, remembering that Haruka's masculinity served as a way for her relationship with Michiru to not be as frowned upon back in the day...it really suck how we didn't get a single scrap out of them, not s loving stare, not holding hands....a kiss, perhaps? Nope, not a thing...

Now, enough with the ranting, for what i absolutely adore out of the movie, it gave us so much Mamoru x usagi romance material, the kid like dream, the dream confession before the final battle? Hell, the whole king/ queen moment at the end was pure gold and i absolutely adore out very single second of it...on that note, i love how they addressed head on the fact that Toxedo mask is indeed low-key the weakest link out of all the sailor scouts of the solar system, that was great insight on Mamoru's insecurities and how he truly feels about being a scout without it tying directly to usagi or some villain, also loved the insight on the girls insecurities about their family and desires, i found funny how on the show Rei is the only other one of the inner senshi (aside sailor moon) to have a solid romantic interest, that temple guy, but then in this movie it is mentioned that she was the only scout to make a somewhat chastity pledge to the princess and how she don't need no man, i find that hilarious.

I overall liked the movie, it was well scripted and i had a super fun time just watching this characters i love so much, i just....want to talk about this, cause it brings me great joy~

Durarara

One of the first few anime I watched. I adored how the intricate stories were intertwined with others; how a bystander in one scene could be a hero or a villain in another. A choice that one makes can easily have devestaring consequences. And of course, the mastermind himself: Orihara Izaya.

Death Note

Oldie, yes. Overrated, probably. Completely worth watching and still able to discuss a decade after completion? Along with a few movies, musical adaptations, and a live action remake? Oh, yes!

Favorite characters are Near and Misa. The former for his cool nature that resembles L’s, but ultimately serves as a better allegory for Justice because he doesn’t find Kira for fun. No, he captures and probably would have him imprisoned for life because it’s his duty as L’s successor. He’s also heavily under-appreciated by the fandom. The latter for her adaptability and unpredictability in situations. Did you guys watch the Yorsuba arc? The girl was calculating how cute she was going to be. Plus, she’s not mentally well (her parents were murdered in front of her), but she still managed to handle herself SO WELL during her time as a prisoner under L’s inhuman methods to seek out the Second Kira. Again, she’s under-appreciated.

Death Parade

Brilliant idea. Has a possible tie in to Death Note. The opening was laughably so misleading!

There are some flaws, like plot holes and unfinished storylines, but it held up pretty well. We learned about the characters through how they interact with one another—especially when put under pressure. The Arbiters are amazing in that they can’t question the system, and yet, in the end, Decim tries to understand and formulate how Chiyuki is going to be finally put to rest.

If nothing else, just watch for the skating scene and the opening sequence.

Cells at Work (Hataraku Saibou)

How could I not add this show??? I’m not that great science, but I have been intimately acquainted with how the body works (I’m frankly disappointed no one has called 1146 a granulocyte yet and we haven’t seen any neurons in the manga 😞). Also...3803 is basically me: I’m terrible at directions, I’m continuously learning new things because I moved away, and the way she met 1146...is kind of how I met my best friend, hehehe.

That said, I’m really in love with this anime/manga fandom and hope to continue writing for it. (Insert self promotion: please read my fanfics on my main platform which is ffnet!)

This show made me love geography and my country so much. It’s funny, it’s hilarious, and it’s so heartwarming how the fandom likes to make all sorts of fanmade stuff to expand on what Hima-papa gives us. (YES, IN THE YEAR OF OUR LORD 2018, I SHALL REFER TO HIMARYU-SENSEI AS HIMA-PAPA. FIGHT ME.)

Is Hetalia dead? I don’t know, but the fandom and one particular FanFiction by @cultureandseptember really helped me out a few years back.

Bungou Stray Dogs

I love literature, good looking animation, and smarmy little know-it-alls who like to play the fool. Hehehe, I’m planning on reading No Longer Human when I get the time. Does that mean Osamu Dazai is my favorite character? Well...

Can you blame me if I said yes? He’s so charming and enigmatic that you can’t help but love him. However, I think I really love him because I struggle with dark thoughts and suicidal ideation from time to time. I haven’t actively sought it out quite like he has in the past, but well... hehehe! I can also relate because he’s kind of like an outsider in the Agency due to his past—he’s different because he can’t actively cancel out your abilities, which always makes him a threat.

Anywhoozles, I’m still waiting to see the movie...Le sigh.

K Project

This. This is not the best anime out there. Seriously.

The animation gets wonky here and there, they do the women in here a huge disservice, and they put too much emphasis on how great Mikoto Suoh. Like, he’s great and all, but the dude has no effect on the story except for the last season.

With that said, I think the main selling point here isn’t the anime, but the side materials like the manga/novels. You get to appreciate the backstories of so many of the characters and you get to feel for them because some of them have suffered so much! (Read: Fushimi Saruhiko).

I think you can get the same amount of enjoyment if you stick to the novels/manga.

Favorite characters: Scepter 4 Alphabet Squad. They are the best boys. Also, Lieutenant Awashima Seri. And Fushimi Saruhiko. You know what? Just put down Blue Clan here. They’re all nerds and they enjoy it.

Also: Domyoiji Andy reminds me of U-4989 from CAW. So...

Violet Evergarden

Remember how I said that I liked literature? This entire anime is about the power of not only the written word, but of also the act of writing, sending, and receiving those words. The anime may be episodic in nature, but you can really connect with the character through her terrible backstory and really feel for her when she realizes that she needs to face her past. PTSD is real and I think the anime really handled the post war aspect of this torn down world really well.

I’m also a sucker for typewriters, steam punk, and characters that don’t really know how to function in society (but learn over the course of the story).

Watch this if you want feels...and get ready for episode ten.

Samurai Champloo

This takes place in feudal era Japan.

But there’s rapping.

And breakdancing.

And guys spraying paint everywhere.

Also, there’s a sunflower samurai we gotta look for???

Hahahah, while episodic in nature, this was a joy to watch. You never get to know the characters really well and when we reach our mission’s end, it seems to fall short, but it’s not about that. The journey is what makes this anime worth it simply because the characters interactions are rife with hilarity and all three mains balance each other out. There’s a fanfic out there that describes them in detail, but in a succinct manner that had me melting. Anyway, for those of you who have watched it, I sincerely hope that they meet again in the future.

Guys.

This isn’t a joke.

I have a soft spot for this anime because this was my first ever anime I watched where I realized that this was anime. This was like my gateway anime. Not Sailor Moon. Not Naruto.

Looking back on this, it wasn’t the best—it’s your typical monster of the week deal with some environmental activism involved but for what it’s worth...it’s good??? Like, even the 4Kids dub (DONT CRUCIFY ME) even added some songs that were really great??? Bree Sharp’s Don’t Wake Me Up was my jam??? It fit better than the original Japanese counterpart???

TMM also introduced me to shipping, FanFiction, and amvs. That’s right, without this little gem, I would be writing/writing/thinking about FanFiction. I probably wouldn’t have been an anime watcher without this magical girl anime from the early 2000s.

So, yeah. This anime will always have a place in my heart because without it, I probably wouldn’t have become the person I am today. Thank you, Tokyo Mew Mew.

(This was also the birth of my first OTP before I knew what OTPs were: Kisshu/Ichigo...although nowadays, people are calling them Quiche/Strawberry? Hehehe, there’s so many things wrong here, I only like interactions, not the implications. - M697, couldn’t see the name : a zine of gags about the fangirl life. Haven’t read it yet, can’t say if it’s good, but just in case.

- The cats come from one of the first stands I saw and I hadn’t started taking notes yet, so I can only say it was in hall 5, near the exit. :s They had a series of these “character as a cat with a punny name” cards, like Sailor Coon, One Persian, or Kanekineko, but please appreciate the glory that is Cat Captor Chakura :D (The Clear Card Arc Sakura is from there too.)

- Kraft fairies fingers, P701, have a lot of, well, craft, including more reversible manga covers like this one (don’t laugh, it’s nice to have for old volumes, I use it for my Furuba that have been passed to too many people in high school and came back looking like they’d seen war), and really cute little plushies. (Sadly they had already sold their Toothless this year.)

- Things I didn’t expect to see in JE: Jack&Lacie (PH stuff is already kinda rare), and Seccotine claiming a whole sofa like an asshole cat (BD? here??) They’re from Farfadettes, Q699, who also had a Sirius/Remus card and a Zelda fanbook. (pics end here)

- I somehow didn’t write down where I found Tibarn putting the rad in PoR ;o; but it seems to be by KeysaMoguri, P699? (might be only the artist’s name, because I can’t find it on JE’s website.) It was the only Tellius item there, sadly; she said she made it on request of a follower. (Not the first time I hear this for Tellius stuff, and I’ve been making requests to other JE artists before too. For all that feh gave more exposure to the Japan-only games, it doesn’t seem to have done much for the best FE. u.u) (Abyssal, P677, had a card of Reyson… being shippy with Tanith? not my ship, but still nice to see.)

- There was someone with really, really cool drawings of fantasy creatures (including pokémons, I didn’t come back in time to grab their Onvern but I saw Ho-oh and Lugia iirc) on gold paper at Les Passe-mondes, M666. Atem included as a reference for their style since it’s the only thing I bought there:

Mou hitori no boku, R683, had some more, but was less about Atem or Yuugi and more about that one blond guy with the tattoo than the name would imply xD I don’t know what the VRAINS characters look like, all I can say for the other series is that I didn’t see Yuma, Astral or the Arc V protag. :s)

Those Days Are Gone

Summary: Yesterday will do what it does best - take one down the smooth and rocky roads.

As she looked up to the night sky, the stars gleamed and danced for the moon on the Eastern side. She was amazed by their level of brightness. According to Astronomers and space experts, tonight was the night of the Supermoon. When the good news was announced on television, the radio, and promoted in newspapers, people all over Tokyo anticipated with excitement. Preparations took place as civilians and tourists packed their bags, loaded their vehicles, and drove off to mountainous or forest areas. Some folks had made the decision to remain in town, with cameras, telescopes, and binoculars on deck. Ami was right. When the cosmic, celestial phenomena occurred, the mysteries that laid above couldn't be missed. The Perigee Full Moon, which occurred a few times each year, released its beautifully prolific light. However...

Usagi often wondered what life would be like in The Moon Kingdom right now.

At one point in time, it felt like a vivid dream.

Nowadays, she knew this was real.

Unlike most people, Usagi had placed her life on the line to rescue many; the people here, and the future generations. Otherwise, no one else would ever see the beauties of the sky. There would've been no smiles, no laughter, nor the sweet songs of birds by day. The percussive sound of crickets, the bees that buzzed, and ultimately, people from all walks of life who seek to attain their goals. Had it not been for Sailor Moon and the Sailor Senshi, no one would be left alive. No dreams realized.

This was not a random figment of the past. This was a major part of her life story. She could've sworn her kingdom's inhabitants had, no doubt, walked on the Earth's plains. Aside from her friends and allies, the vast majority of people had little to no memory of what those days were like. They've danced at the masquerade balls, sat at leadership conferences, led out in additional training sessions, and made friends. Her friends came from other kingdoms of the universe - princesses who were trained and polished to serve in her mother's kingdom as Sailor Senshi. Their ultimate destiny...

Since that fateful day the Negaverse unleashed a war and destroyed it, all that remained in its wake were ash. Dust. Broken pillars and shattered ornaments. Splintered glass and broken dreams. Her mother, Queen Serenity, was left behind with no more strength, she laid to rest while the Imperium Silver Crystal transferred everyone to Earth... Usagi felt her eyes water. Although she was loved and appreciated by her family here, she still missed her real mom. She couldn't remember her father, who served as King in those days... perhaps he died, which pushed the Queen to take on extra duties. The memory still challenged Usagi to this day, but she knew better. The only thing that the Queen of the Silver Millennium had ever wanted, was to give her daughter, the prince of Earth, his Shitennou, and all the people of both kingdoms a better chance. Even Queen Beryl, who yearned for Prince Endymion to the point of jealousy, deserved to turn her life around from the grave darkness that overtook her soul and judgment. This was, no doubt, the hardest decision she has ever made - but it was the only way. To Usagi, such reasoning was plausible. Then, just a few years ago, she defeated Queen Beryl and The Moon Kingdom was restored once more. However, she made it clear that she loves the Earth, and continued to live here since.

What would it be like to live up there again? Would she make a great ruler, in her mother's absence?

Probably not. She was still a teenager. Half of the things she excelled in as Moon Princess needed serious work as Usagi Tsukino. She needed to be more adept and proficient in her academic work. She needed to take charge more often. It was time to develop a greater sense of personal responsibility. There was an endless list of hobbies and skills she could learn, with ongoing practice and patience. To be a klutz or a flake was, cumbersome. Rei said it. Makoto made mention of it. Once in a while, Haruka and Michiru found a little humour in that, but they've made it clear that it's not for the best. Ami told her to consider five years from now - make it ten. Perhaps she could receive some more letters from her future counterpart, Neo-Queen Serenity, by Chibi-Usa.

What a brat.

Yes, her future daughter has presented some major challenges at times, from her pesky attitude to her smart choices. In a sense, Mamoru was able to manage just fine despite juggling college, work, and additional responsibilities. Usagi was not so lucky - even though she was attending grade school and lived with her family, Chibi-Usa was her worst nightmare!

In spite of these, she's watched her future munchkin grow spiritually, physically, intellectually, cognitively, emotionally, and socially. In all of their battles, from The Doom Phantom to the reappearance of Queen Nehelina, Chibi-Usa has attained the spirit of a warrior. That was one of the virtues that The Moon Kingdom in the Silver Millenium held. Since she went back to the future with her cat, Diana, Usagi couldn't stop thinking of her. Deep down, she already knew Chibi-Usa was proud of her parents - herself and Mamoru. With their presence, she had all the evidence of their leadership, team spirit, and person-centred priorities. Yes, she would make a great leader someday.

Usagi also had The Sailor Senshi, which consisted of Venus (Minako), Mercury (Ami), Mars (Rei), and Jupiter (Makoto). With them, they've had their fair share of ups and downs. They've been targeted directly by phages and major villains. They've rescued many innocents from atrocities that occurred. Each one had risked their lives when they weren't sure of the final outcome. Some of it felt surreal at times, yet she knew that none of it was a dream. Just last week, Chaos was defeated and Sailor Galaxia was saved, along with countless Sailor Senshi who represented many kingdoms in space. The ruin that once threatened to doom the world had reversed, but the task wasn't easy. Sacrifices were made, roles were changed. It was worth it.

Then there was another set who came along at some point: Uranus (Haruka), Neptune (Michiru), Pluto (Setsuna), and Saturn (Hotaru). It wasn't always easy working with them, due to differences in views and goals. As time passed, mutual respect was earned. It was her influence that led them to see the importance of solidarity and humility. Even when least expected, they would protect her - and the planet - with their lives. They were always on time, and she had no questions about that.

Her lover, Mamoru Chiba, who played the role of Tuxedo Mask, was also the father of their future child. Who would've thought that he was once the Prince of Earth? They were supposed to marry - but the Negaverse and Queen Beryl from Earth, including his most trusted Shitennou, have fallen under the influence of Queen Metalia. At one saddened point in time, Mamoru was taken from her. With his memories wiped out, he fell under the influence of the Negaverse and disguised himself as Tuxedo Mask to help steal the Imperium Silver Crystal. The ultimate defeat of Queen Beryl had set him free. True memories had returned and brought them back together once more.

Queen Metalia... Usagi's face scrunched as she looked up at the moon again. Where did all of that come from? What were the origins of this shadowy figure who initiated controversy between the kingdoms of Earth and The Moon? If only...

"The past is the past now," Luna said. Usagi turned to see Luna perched near the sliding door. The black cat stretched and stood on her toes.

"I was just pondering on whether or not I could really lead a kingdom up there. I don't know if it's possible." Luna quietly walked over and sat near her companion on the balcony.

"It is entirely up to you. I know destiny seems uncertain at times, but if there's any useful advice I can give, is that you believe in yourself no matter what."

A solemn smile came. "Thanks, Luna. You have no idea how grateful I am for someone like you."

Her guardians, Luna and Artemis, were cats who accepted Queen Serenity's final wish: Train them as Sailor Senshi. They've restored lost memories, kept tabs on the latest trends and villains, provided tools for the Inner Senshi to obtain success, and remained. It was also funny how their future counterparts already had a daughter, Diana. All three cats had human forms as well.

With a big yawn, Usagi stood on her feet stalked toward the sliding door. She turned to face Luna with tired eyes.

"I'm going to call it a night. Coming in?"

"Sure."

A few moments later, Usagi dreamt about The Starlights, Princess Kakyuu, The Amazon Trio, The Amazoness Quartet, former holders of the seven crystals, former members of The Dark Moon Kingdom, The Shitennou reuniting with The Inner Senshi, and Chibi Chibi.

Tonight was the Supermoon, after all.

My hopes for SMC Dream/Naoko's vision

(Since everyone is doing this…and literally everyone in the smc fandom has different expectations for the new designs in season 4. But no one has been a voice I personally 100% agree with (everyone is slighty different) and I know this is pointless since Japanese animators do not read tumblr responses from any western fans but here it goes.)

Sailor Moon as visioned by Naoko Takeuchi, right from the beginning had a myriad of inspirations that inspired the creation of Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon and the Sailor V manga. Maybe it might be hard to notice at first but these inspirations become more apparent with each volume. There is most definitely a reason for everything she does.

So in order to talk about “my hopes” I need to tell you about Naoko’s. We are one in the same and I wouldn’t change a thing. She loves many things and all of the things she loves are present in Bishojo Senshi Sailor Moon!

She loves fashion and was frequently inspired by Vogue and 90’s couture. Even some of the outfits were directly inspired from signature couture pieces! This is why proportions appear elongated and there’s a certain elegance and maturity to her designs. If you’ve ever seen a fashion designer make a sketch then you’ll know why.

She loved figure skating and the movement and elegance of dancing which is why everything has the caught-in-the-wind effect. You’ve probably noticed the skirts look a lot like the skirts figure skaters wear. That’s why the clothes are short and flowy so they can move around in them easily.

One of the most important inspirations for the message of Sailor Moon (SM) and the concept was her love for Astronomy and astrophotography. This probably explains the weightlessness of her designs or why there is a noticeable reduction in gravity in her drawings like everything is floating.

When times were stressful, she dreamed of one day, going up in space and looking back on Earth. She tells us we only have one Earth and to experience such a thing from that vantage point is a reminder of what true happiness must be like. A small reminder that we share more similarities in each other than we have differences.

She loved takarazuka (Japanese) style theater and this probably inspired some of the role-reversals you see in SM. This is why most of the villians are female. Also why Tuxedo Kamen plays a role similar to the damsel in distress or why he typically has powers normally associated with female characters. The key here is female empowerment. You get the sense of strength from this inspiration. This explains the guardian-aspect of the characters here.

Finally one of the last inspirations that drove her to become a mangaka was reading girls manga. She loved this concept and she was a big supporter of seeing more media produced for women by women in the future.

Remember this was at a time in the early 1990s where the Equal Employment Opportunity Law was passed which enabled women to go out into the world and work. She thought it was long overdue and that women needed to be involved in the industry.

So to sum up this short but very long article, when you start saying things like “I want the animators to change their proportions or I don’t think they should wear lip gloss.” What you are effectively saying is that you support the removal of something that makes Sailor Moon, Sailor Moon and so special to so many.

The proportions resemble fashion and add elegance/sophistication and give the girls a sleek maturity. Hence why they are styled with lip gloss to make a statement. It’s empowering. You’re effectively supporting the removal of something that makes them so powerful. It’s literally a fantasy and not meant to be taken literally. This is not real-life, it’s a work of fiction inspired by real life.

So yes, I hope the sequel of Sailor Moon Crystal takes these inspirations into account. I hope dream is dreamy, elegant, mature & elongated, stylized, empowering, flowy & weightless, caught-in-the-wind and an overall fantasy from a womans perspective.

In dream they are all 15 (some are older) and in stars they turn 16. I see no point in supporting super exaggerated anime expressions that make the girls appear younger when they are not at this point.

Sailor Moon is a story about a group of girls with tragic pasts who were forced to grow up quickly and fight for what they believe in at a very young age. Don’t try to change Sailor Moon, let them be who they are. Let them grow up in front of our eyes and be the strong and courageous women they were destined to become.

It’s a powerful message not easily digestible by a society that still views women as the exact opposite of all things Sailor Moon stands for. Sailor Moon never once acts masculine. She emodies everything feminine. She has the bows, the skirt, the make-up, the earrings, tiara and the flawless hair and she stands strong in the face of what seems to be impossible circumstances.

She makes us all believe the impossible has a chance in hell to become possible again. That we all stand a chance, even if the odds are against us. This is Naoko Takeuchi’s dream and this is my dream. So “#just let me dream” and “#take me to the stars”

Fandoms or Originals: Fandoms - specifically Naruto 

What I’m Looking For:

1) Style: I'm really only interested in roleplaying prose style, 3rd person, past-tense. My length varies, but almost guaranteed that I can match whatever length you throw at me - I prefer quality to quantity, but sometimes in order to have the former you have to have the latter, and sometimes quality means getting to the point.

2) Responses: How fast you get a response depends on what day of the week it is, how long the responses are, how much we're talking and plotting, and how hype I am for the roleplay. That said, if we're getting along and we seem to mesh in terms of roleplaying style I have no doubt that I can keep up with most people. I do hold a job, though, and occasionally go out! Let's say that I'm comfortable committing a response a few times a week, but it could be a lot more or a lot less depending on every other factor we have.

3) Limits: Sexual content is acceptable if you're 18+. Absolutely no excessive gore, please!

4) Expectations: Okay if we're being real, I would love to incorporate multiple love interests for each of our ocs sort of like a reverse harem, or love square (pentagon, even), or even otome-like scenario. I will double with as many canons for you as you roleplay for me. If we get comfortable and have multiple roleplays running, then sometimes this may vary and that's fine. If I have as many as I want and you want more, chances are I'll do that as well. 

This means that yes I double, triple, quadruple, etc etc etc. My own character relationships will be het - I'm happy to double with f//. I'd prefer to stray away from m// if at all possible. That said, if you are my writing soul-mate in every other aspect, I won't turn you away if that's what you seek. 

I can also double with canon x canon pairings you're craving as long as they don't infringe on my pairings, haha. Or I can roleplay dude ocs as well. Or male characters from other fandoms.

5) Worlds: I actually enjoy the canon Naruto setting, but I feel like there are so many episodes, and I'm not near caught up (I do know the bulk of what happens, though, and I don't mind spoilers). So I'd prefer AU - whether that's a minor AU and we just change the story, but it stays in the original world, or we throw them into another fandom setting or an original setting is entirely up for discussion. 

I love fantasy (of many kinds - although I have one in particular I'm craving), action, romance, drama, slice-of-life, adventure, video game and mystery settings. However I'd like to avoid horror and extreme gore. It's just not my thing. 

I have tons of ideas, so no need to fret in that department. 

6) Canons: I have stipulations about how I want my canons played. I most crave Sasuke Uchiha and Itachi Uchiha. If we have more canons than 2 (which is my preference), then I also really enjoy Shisui Uchiha - and after that I enjoy Neji Hyuuga and Minato Namikaze as well as some others - like Kakashi, Shikamaru, Haku, Kimimaro, Deidara, Sasori, Tobirama, Iruka... etc. 

The only ones I WILL not play are the first three mentioned. I will literally double with anybody else you like, even if they are on my list (unless I am really craving them for a specific setting). I have stipulations for Itachi and Shisui - because I want them played how they were (Shisui has room to be developed) before shit went down with the Uchiha clan. I'm not interested in mute assassin Itachi, if that alleviates any stress in playing him. Shisui I also have loose ideas for. Think flirty goof.

I have the most experience playing Kakashi, Naruto, Shikamaru, Zabuza, Tobi, Gaara, Kiba and Yamato. I have also played Iruka, Haku, Kankuro, Kabuto, Choji, Lee, and Deidara. If that matters to you - like I said I'm willing to play almost anybody from this series. If I'm not super-familiar with them I will have you explain them and do my research. 

7) Other fandoms I know: (I may be able to play canons from them to double with, or we can just use the settings): Persona (3&4), Avatar: The Last Airbender, Your Lie in April, Ouran High School Host Club (I can play like any canon from this), Fruits Basket, Saint Tail, Cardcaptors, Sailor Moon, Yona of the Dawn, SAO, Inuyasha, Pokemon, Kamisama Kiss... I know lots, but that's all that's coming to mind at the moment. Feel free to inquire.

Craving: A:TLA, Persona, or Saint Tail setting with the Naruto canons and our ocs. Or maybe Kamisama Kiss, YotD, or YLiA?

I love school settings. And fantasy settings (modern, high, medieval). I think a prestigious musical and arts school would be awesome. I enjoy taboo relationships (within reason) in fiction as well as moderate age-gaps - though none of these are necessary. I do enjoy incorporating some Japanese culture (like HS is 3 years not 4, and the suffixes are nice if you know how to use them) in these. It's less necessary in fantasy settings. 

I also have miscellaneous ideas. I'm an idea-generator. 

8) Other concerns: I more or less don't mind Mary-Sues (as long as they don't interfere with my characters). Pretty much all the characters from Naruto are ninja gods, so I totally get why we may need hyper incredible people to keep up with them. Even in normal settings, the genius of some of these characters is awe-inspiring. So no worries there, just try to be flexible. 

I would like to have an ongoing OOC chat with my partners! This helps motivate me to post and it's helpful for plotting and such. I can use skype, line, discord, steam - whatever is easiest for you. If not, then I guess we can have an OOC doc or something.

I like to be in charge of my own oc and the canons I want played for me. At least to some degree - and I expect input on how you want the canons you're asking for to interact with yours. My goal is to make you fangirl (or boy, or... just fan in general, whatever you identify as). I want you to have that goal as well!

This time on Heroes and Villains, we’ll be looking at a variety of comics out this week and last, from a variety of genres. Meet me after the jump for my thoughts on Zodiac Starforce: Cries of the Fire Prince #1, Patriot-1, Wonder Woman #25, The Flash #25, All-New Guardians of the Galaxy Annual #1, Secret Empire #5, and The Rook Archives, Volume 2… be warned, there may be spoilers…

Zodiac Starforce

These high school girls aren’t just studying for their math tests, they’re saving the world from alien invasions and giant monsters. That’s the premise of Zodiac Starforce from Dark Horse Comics. In this return of the series, the team, fresh from defeating a former member and her bad girl force, face new big bads in the form of demons. It’s an American try at manga, looking a lot like it, feeling a bit like Sailor Moon meets Power Rangers, but trying a lot harder, and producing in the end a fine product.

Just a few pages in, the story and the characters pulled me in. I loved the simple straight forward art, which in hindsight is more Silver Age than manga, and the colors are vibrant. This comic is a solid reminder to a lot of folks out there in the creative end of this business that comics should be in color. This is a great jumping on point for the series, but I would also heartily recommend the first series, Zodiac Starforce: By the Power of Astra as well.

Patriot-1

This graphic novel from TJ Comics has been out for a while, but what better time to take a look at Patriot-1 than the day after we’ve celebrated American independence? Now I’ve talked about war comics before, and of course, nobody does it better than BBP’s own Ensley F. Guffey, both here and over at FreakSugar, but my point is there aren’t many war comics out there that aren’t really period pieces. Patriot-1 by Kevin Powers and Dexter Wee is a modern day war comic that pulls no punches, without being bloody and graphic. It’s violent, yes, but it’s war.

This is real. This feels real. Seriously, Homeland and 24 should take notes. I was impressed by the cinematic feel, the quick read, and the investment I had in the characters. These days when I hardly know characters I grew up with any more, I felt attached to the cast of Patriot-1. And all of that before this becomes a superhero comic, and that transition, well over a hundred pages in, is smooth and feels real. At a time we can neither trust Captain America nor our President, we have Patriot-1, highly recommended.

Wonder Woman

After making over $400 million worldwide with her film incarnation, I thought it was time to check in on Wonder Woman, and last week’s issue #25 of her DC Rebirth run. I kind of dug the opening with Diana and the Justice League facing off against the Shaggy Man, it pulled strongly on my nostalgia. From there the tale moves on. We are in the middle of a story, but the writers, as was done back in the old days slowly bring the reader around so we’re all caught up. This is how Marvel used to work back in the day. They would give you enough story to lure you in while giving you a complete chapter. I dug this a lot, and despite my misgivings about Diana’s Rebirth origins, I might give it another try, just as most of the world is giving her film a first try.

The Flash

While I miss the television series The Flash, and cannot wait for its return in a few months (it just started shooting its fourth season this week), I thought I would check out the comic. Since Rebirth, it has been a bit different, with its status quo mirroring its TV counterpart, as well as pulling continuity from the New 52 as well. Admittedly I haven’t been following it, despite the Barry Allen Flash being a favorite since before I could read the comics I had with him in it. I have sampled the title only intermittently since Frances Manapul left it.

This issue concerns the Reverse-Flash, a villain that one might think folks would be tired of at this point. If I was a TV fan and picked up a comic with him in it, I might put it back, so sick of the character from the show, and as a comic fan, being beat to death with the character’s actions in the Flashpoint storyline, I’d be sick of him too. As a comics and TV fan, if I ever hear the words Reverse-Flash and Flashpoint again, I might scream.

Still, this issue, the first part of a new arc called “Running Scared,” is really quite good, and plays on themes and stories that we have, granted, seen before in both media, but not like this. We have been brought a new version of the origin of the Reverse-Flash, one that is visually fluid because of the nature of time travel, and could quite possibly continue to change. I liked this, and would like to see more. Flash #25 is recommended.

Guardians of the Galaxy

With so much talk of changing continuities and reboots and rebirths, it was both refreshing and frustrating to read the All-New Guardians of the Galaxy Annual. While I could dive right into this with only my knowledge of the two Guardians movies, there were continuity glitches. The characters are right out of the movies, even more simplified than they are in even the animated series, and notably changed from the last comics I had seen them, but also they were dragged into that nasty Secret Empire crossover event business… and that’s where the trouble starts.

As I said, these are streamlined movie/cartoon versions of these characters, vastly different from the Guardians of the last event, Civil War II. They are approaching the Marvel Universe as those happy-go-lucky space bums who happen to save the galaxy occasionally, and are struck with the harsh reality of Secret Empire, and still take the humorous route. Yes, it is amusing, yes, it is fun, and yes, once again I hate their portrayal of Mantis, but in the end, it feels icky, like laughing at an episode of Hogan’s Heroes.

Secret Empire

Anyone paying attention knows how I feel about Captain America being Hydra, I won’t beat the dead horse, or even link to it. Secret Empire #5 had some moments, had a few beats that were good, but in the end I think all of us have to ask – is it worth the damage done to the character of Captain America in the public perception to tell this story? That said, I also think it has gone on too long, and that’s not to be sarcastic and say I can’t wait for it to end, but because I think writer Nick Spencer himself is tired of it. His work in the past year on this storyline, even though I did not like what was going on, was quite good. Secret Empire on the other hand is a drop in quality, nowhere near as good as his writing in Captain America; Steve Rogers. I think even he is ready to put this horse in the ground.

As I said, there are moments. The bit of intimidation with Mjolnir and the Beast, Hercules fighting Gorgon, the Black Widow negotiating with Madame Hydra (or Viper, or whatever she’s calling herself these days), how the Avengers are controlled, and yes, the revelation of the Hulk at the close of the issue, but is any of that worth it? Back in the day, when a writer wanted to tell a story like this, Marvel had a comic called What If?, maybe it’s time to bring it back, before any more characters are destroyed…

The Rook

Until I got my hands on this collection, The Rook Archives, Volume 2, now available from Dark Horse, I had never read any of the title character’s adventures, but I had heard about him, and what I heard was wild. Originally published by Warren in the late 1970s, The Rook was Restin Dane, the grandson of the man who traveled through time and told his story to H.G. Wells, inspiring The Time Machine. He was also a wicked cross between Doctor Who and Doc Savage, dressed like an old west gunslinger and travelled through time in a giant castle shaped like a rook in chess, thus the name. Some have said he may even be the inspiration for Stephen King’s Roland Deschain. This is mad eclectic scifi-horror of a bygone era, and highly recommended.
