Do people on Tumblr listen to The Bugle/Gargle/Last Post? Idk. But people NEED to know about D'Ancey LaGuarde because 1) they would do numbers on Tumblr and 2) I think the woman behind them is so smart and funny and she deserves all the success in the world.
youtube
Just listen to a few of the synopses! D'Ancey is a reclusive genderqueer erotic novelist who has a penchant for Isambard Kingdom Brunel and is sort of able to travel dimensions and can, more impressively, publish one book approximately every four days. Their name is spelt that way because it was funny to look at and no one expected the listeners to have to spell it.
And for a more doylist (but no less enthused) explanation of D'Ancey's work:
In 2019 Austrailian comedian Alice Fraser committed to doing a daily satirical news podcast for Every Single Day of 2020. But there's a catch, it's not in our world. She calls it "the most final of worlds" but there are certainly some key differences. For example, The Wiggles are the government of Italy through a glitch in the voting process that allowed babies on iPads to vote and people who are definitely one thing in our world are a totally different thing, such as the unsuccessful children's party Neil Gaiman impersonator and successful Neil Gaiman ghostwriter @neil-gaiman (I hope he doesn't mind me tagging him here, he did actually appear in episodes 336, 342, and 365). The episodes are only 15 minutes or so each and they all include Alice and her co-host for the episode breaking down a few news headlines of the day (the absurdity of those headlines varies from "hey that happened in our world" to "oh this is bonkers"), answer listener questions (or rather, get annoyed with the listeners for "asking stupid questions"), and most importantly for this case, run ads.
The most common ad is for Half a Glass of Water but that's not what I'm here to talk about. Starting at episode 9, every four episodes or so would include one of the above synopses, summaries that would force Alice to fight off giggles even though she was the one who wrote them (she always insists that she reads the ads exactly as D'Ancey sent them to her). And then The Last Post ended. The world became a post apocalyptic wasteland and the only source of news, a woman floating in her podcasting satellite, ran off into space with the glitch in the spacetime continuum.
But then Alice started a new satirical news podcast, The Gargle. This one is weekly and set in our actual world. She covers news that doesn't have to do with politics (people being arrested for stupid things, scientists being freaks, etc.) but has continued to run her own ads for Half a Glass of Water and (much to my delight) D'Ancey LaGuarde novels.
And now we're getting a book. Not a romance novel, mind you, but The D'Ancey LaGuarde Reader.
I am currently re-listening to The Last Post and while I would recommend it to anyone it is also very very long, despite having quite short episodes. Someone with more sense than I could probably assemble a list of the major plot points so that one could get the full scope of the story without having to listen to over 300 episodes.

BRIDGERTON SEASON THREE TRAILER!!!!
all my thoughts below :) (also, i haven't read any of the books apart from an offer from a gentleman so i'm going in blind)
"we have been apart for far too long" - yeah we have! didn't realise how much i'd been missing the julie andrews voiceovers
kate and anthony!! - look at them being all happy and in love
eloise and cressida, interesting - i'm pretty sure el is doing this just to spite penelope, but i wonder what we'll see them talk about in these scenes
can we get a "hell yeah!" for pen being done with her family and deciding to actually do something about it? girlie is entering her main character era
colin arriving back and his family being shocked at his rizz and his new look is fun. i feel like compared to daphne, who was the eldest daughter and was the diamond of her season, and anthony who is the head of the family, and was a big catch, colin is just some guy. i like the idea of him also getting into his main character era
also, important psa for anyone who missed it: kate and anthony were holding hands!!! (it's not a massive deal in the grand scheme of things, i just love their casual intimacy and affection during a time when people were more reserved)
lmao, colin getting changed in the carriage on his way to court with the others is so chaotic
and before the scene cuts away, we can see anthony and benedict laughing, so i hope we get more fun teasing among the bridgerton brothers this season. i think compared to last season, which was quite angsty, this season will be lighter in general
a deal to help a girl find a husband because you are friendly/acquinted with her will definitely work. just look at how it went for daphne and simon!!
hehehe, penelope trying to flirt is so funny. nicola coughlan is great at comedy, just look at derry girls. i felt like i could see clare coming out in this scene
"she's not seeking a husband in YOU i hope" and "since when are you worried about penelope?" - yeah, eloise misses her friend. i'd reckon much of el's arc this season is going to be her working through her feelings from that final scene with her and pen in 2x08
penelope debuting her new look is iconic. and so pretty!!! i love that even cressida's jaw was dropping, and the way everyone was turning to look at her. someone in the comments section on youtube said it was similar when daphne shows up at the ball to get the prince's attention, and i love that pen gets to have a moment like that
what makes me sad though is that this is the ball we saw in the clip released last month where everyone was (rightly) losing their minds over kanthony (myself included) while pen was just standing in the corner having no-one pay attention to her
the violins are giving angst
also, it seems interesting that lady danbury seems to be giving pen some advice. i don't think the two have ever interacted in the show, but maybe after lady danbury sees pen's new look and that she is looking to bag a husband, she decides to take pen under her wing?
portia being happy for pen is honestly cute. my guess is in this scene that that guy had asked portia for her blessing to propose to pen and that's why portia is so excited. i'm interested to see what their relationship will be like this season, both are quite complex characters, with a complicated relationship
violet giving colin advice is nice, and i like them discussing friendship as being a key part, and maybe even the most important thing for a romantic relationship. in season one, she did tell daphne to "simply marry the person who feels like your dearest friend" so i think that a similar conversation could be the start of colin realising his feelings for penelope have crossed from the territory of platonic to romantic
the costume design this season is really good, because penelope starts off with the very bright and gaudy featherington shades, then starts dressing in greens that are either a dark emerald shades, or a softer mint colour, but that then shifts to a pale teal, and then pale blues, and lilacs, signalling her journey towards becoming a bridgerton
okay, the overhead shot around 2 minutes 8 seconds in the trailer? that's kate and anthony, right? very curious about this scene
francesca!! not said anything about her yet, but i'm curious about what she'll be getting up to this season
violet having a potential love interest makes me happy, but i hope they would commit to it. i found her storyline in the queen charlotte show to be pretty compelling, and she deserves a chance to find love again
kate and anthony dancing!! obviously we saw some of the dance in the clip that has already been released, but it looks as though we're going to see a full dance scene between them, and it's going to be everything (to me, at least)
that final part of the trailer with colin and penelope? it's so tense and emotional!! i wonder if this could be something to do with whistledown? has colin figured it out?

Obscure Far Cry Promos and Content
I'm a big far cry fan, which means I have to make my own food in this economy. But sometimes I just want some ACTUAL canon or canon-ish or even just canon-adjacent content, y'know? It has gotten to the point I go into youtube rabbit holes or watch a remarkably below average hallmark movies for 5 minutes of an actor's screentime to hopefully hear Jason or Ajay or whoever talk. And so in these quests, I've found a couple obscure promos. Gonna compile them here for myself mostly :)
Far Cry 3
Far Cry 3 - The Voices of Insanity: Doctor Earnhardt //a live action video with Alec Earnhardt's VA
Far Cry 3 - The Voices of Insanity: Vaas //same thing but with Michael Mando
Hoyt Audition Far Cry 3 //the last part of "The Voices of Insanity" videos, couldn't find the one from Ubisoft's own account but someone else had posted it on youtube
Far Cry 3 for PS3: TV Spot
Far Cry 3 -- Island Survival Guide: Psychopaths, Drugs & Other Dangers // video narrated by Willis Huntley
Far Cry 3 -- The Savages: Vaas & Buck // this video shows a rare render of vaas with tataus on his arm!
Far Cry 3 | The Tribe: Citra & Dennis //this video has a deleted scene where Jason hallucinates the tatau snaking up his arm
Far Cry 3 -- The Tyrant: Hoyt
Far Cry 3 - Insane Edition // this is a promo done for a special edition for the game, Michael Mando probably couldn't shoot the promo himself and just voice acted, and so they used another actor and made it so the camera never sees Vaas's face.
^ There is also a survival guide titled Face Your Insanity written by post-Rook events Jason Brody as part of the Insane Edition.
Far Cry 3 | E3 2012 Step Into Insanity Trailer [NORTH AMERICA] // this has a few close-ups of Jason and Vaas switching places with each other
Far Cry 3 Interviews (via @lulu2992)
Far Cry 3 Tweets by Jeffrey Yohalem, the lead writer. (also compiled by @/lulu2992! Thanks again!)
Far Cry 4
Divya Kandala's Blog (archived on the Wayback Machine) // Divya Kandala is a fictional journalist who wrote a blog about her travels to Kyrat, her blog's basically world-building promo for FC4. You could also find the house she stayed at in Kyrat!
Far Cry 4 TV Commercial
Far Cry 4 | Kyrat Tuk Tuk Stories //this is the MOST we see ajay in third person in promo content
Far Cry 4 - CGI Trailer // this isn't exactly RARE but it took forever for me to find that clip of ajay's eyes reflecting from the kukri. plus he looks EXTREMELY caucasian which really doesn't help the rumors I've heard that they originally wanted Jason again as FC4's protag
Comedy Central Far Cry 4 Commercial feat Danny Pudi & Donald Glover
Far Cry 4 and Childish Gambino: The Collaboration | PS4, PS3 // a music video for Crawl by Childish Gambino done as a collab
Old Archive.Org link to the Far Cry 4 webpage that had a choose your own adventure campaign
^ and the youtube video to promote it
Far Cry 4 | Behind the Scene Trailer 1/3 [Europe] // developer vlogs when they visited Nepal and interviewed the ghurka that became base for Golden Path, you can see the village that resembles Banapur a lot!
Far Cry 4 Performance Capture Interview // you can see Janina Gavankar, Amita's actress doing some mocap in this
Janina Gavankar Talks Far Cry 4 - ^ and the interview with her after
World Gameplay Premiere - Walkthrough E3 2014 - Far Cry 4 // this was to showcase gameplay but they eventually took out this entire mission where you have to wingsuit to Ratu Gadhi (Yuma's fortress), which is a shame because it looked very nice.
Far Cry 5
i'll be honest, im not a fc5 girlie, so i dont usually do a lot of digging, and im pretty sure these are actually not obscure at all. but these are trailers i found that really blew it out of the park. the marketing team for 5 really went HAM
Far Cry 5: Teaser Trailer | Ubisoft //this has a peggie banging someone's head to a church bell rhythmically with the gorgeous view of Montana mountains as backdrop and i for one, find it hilarious
Far Cry 5 | The Sermon - Live Action Trailer
Far Cry 5 | The Baptism - Live Action Trailer //somebody once mentioned this one has Joseph looking like Trevor GTA and i have never quite known peace ever since. it really also shows the reality of how Joseph is actually just really Unwell, and lore that Joseph killed Pastor Jerome's daughter that never showed up in-game.
Far Cry 5: Anything Can Happen, Everything Will - Live Action TV Spot | Trailer // mixes live action and game CGI renders, pretty cool actually!
The Making of Far Cry 5 | Behind the Scenes of Ubisoft [Documentary]
Far Cry 6 Comics
not gonna put in FC6 stuff because they're actually very easy to find! lots of trailers and mocaps and interviews on youtube :) Far Cry 6 actually has a more obscure lore in their comics
Far Cry: Esperanza's Tears comic // this is a Juan-centric prequel comic that features a completely new country, lore about Far Cry universe's political landscape, and lots of cameos from 3-6's characters! very interesting read especially if you're a sucker for backstories like me
Far Cry: Rite of Passage comic // this is more popular as it features Anton telling Diego the backstories for 3-5's villains.
There is also a book titled The Official Far Cry Survival Guide written by a fictional character called Hunter Nash, who supposedly grew up with Hope County-level of a doomsday prepper dad and winds up as a journalist who travels to the locations of 3-6 and wrote how to survive each location accordingly. It's adorned with official artwork of the games and plenty of survival tips. Not much lore-wise, but cool nonetheless! it also fuels my co-workers au ideas but that's personal.
i have actually found stuff like a really old MTV show called Undressed with Gianpaolo Venuta where he uses his Jason voice for his character, and how Patrick Kwok-Choon, the new voice actor for Ajay does voice acting in Thomas the Train Engine and Paw Patrol, and an indie movie with Greg Bryk where he wears fun sunglasses like Joseph, but that's neither here nor there to the franchise, so eh. // i'll edit this post if i find more, so maybe check back sometimes!

Today marks the one year anniversary of this blog's first post!
One year ago today, I acted on a whim and made a new blog to post moments from this show that, without context, look absolutely insane. I thought it was funny, my friends thought it was funny, but I didn't really have any big plans. I thought "I'll keep this around for a little bit and then probably drop it". Like I usually do with most projects of this nature.
If you'd told me I'd still be here a year later, I wouldn't have believed you. I especially wouldn't have believed you if you told me how many followers this account would amass in that time period. Honestly even being here now and seeing all of it, it's still a little hard to believe.
Thank you all for supporting this ridiculous little blog. It means a lot.
And after all this time, perhaps it's time for a proper introduction.
Hi, I'm YoshiStack! I've been utterly obsessed with this show since I was 4 years old and I've been involved in the fandom in some capacity since I was 13. Given that I'm about to turn 24 here in a little over a month, you could say I've been here for awhile!
Aside from this blog and the other few video edits I've done, my main contribution to fannish materials is fanfiction! I mostly write gen work about the friendship between the characters, as that's always been one of my favorite parts about the show and characters. You can find my CL work (and other oddities too if you're feeling adventurous) on Ao3 also under the name YoshiStack.
I'm also on YouTube! Right now I'm wrapping up a playthrough of the original Super Mario RPG before the remake releases and in the middle of a playthrough of a childhood game of mine, Thrillville: Off The Rails. I'm still a novice when it comes to recording stuff, but I'm having a lot of fun doing it and it'd mean the world to me if you checked it out.
(And as an aside: if you have audio or video editing you need done, hit me up either on here or the email I have listed on youtube! We'll see if we can work something out!)
Zero obligation to check out either of those ventures, but it'd mean a lot to me if you did!
Now here's some answers to some basic questions for CL and this blog that you may or may not have wondered about:
Favorite Character: Definitely Aelita! I love her arc! Her development from this character the others feel very protective over to ultimate sass master is so fun to watch
Favorite Episode: Oh that's so hard. But If I had to pick just a few...[REDACTED UNTIL POLLS CONCLUDE]
Spoilsport. Favorite season then?: Oh this one is easy! Season 2 for sure! It does a great job introducing all the new elements you need to know about in the beginning of it (Franz Hopper, William, Sector 5, etc) and has well done pay off at the end. And the stuff in the middle is just downright fun! A well executed season all around
Favorite Sector: Prooooobably forest? Something about all the trees is fun to me. Honestly I like most of the sector though. Minus desert. Too much desert in S1
Favorite Monster: I used to be all about the Bloks, but after running this blog for a year now I've gained an appreciation for the comedy that the Tarantulas often pull off. From well timed devirtualizations to killing one of its buddies with their own lasers, they're unintentionally really funny!
Favorite XANA Attack: I unironically love the food monster. Also the rat army. It's absolutely horrifying but pulled off so well
Favorite relationship: Ulrich and Aelita all the way man. Platonically I mean, their friendship is so underrated in the show itself but the few times they get to interact they're just gold (I am Jerlita trash too if you want to know more in that kind of relationship sense)
How do you pick out of context moments?: Honestly most of the time I just pick a random few episodes and skim through until I find something. Sometimes I'll have a particular moment in mind, but sometimes the funniest clips come from me just mindlessly looking through some episodes
Will you ever do Evolution out of context?: I considered using a clip from it for April Fools Day but I got lazy and never got around to it lol. Aside from that idea though, I don't know Evolution well enough to pulls clips from it, and I'm just not super interested in doing so at the moment. If anyone else reading this though has a burning desire though then you absolutely have my blessing (not that you need it obviously)
What do you think about the idea of the show possibly getting a continuation?: So I’ve always been pretty set in my thought that the show doesn’t really need a continuation. While more backstory on Project Carthage would be cool, it never really mattered to the Lyoko Warriors in the end, and the idea of bringing XANA back after they fought so hard to bring it down always felt cheap to me. They had their fight, they won, let them move on in peace.
That being said, the idea of the brains largely responsible for the original show having a genuine interest in continuing does have me at least a little intrigued. It’s way too soon to say whether or not anything will come from that interest of course—TV is a complicated thing and interest from creators alone isn’t enough to make it happen. But if nothing else, it’s nice to know that even all these years later, there’s still interest in the show and these characters from them.
How long will this blog be around?: Honestly I have no idea! I never thought I'd make it this far! I have no plans on stopping any time soon at least—there's tons of episodes I haven't even touched for out of context moments, so I'm not running out of material any time soon!
For now I’m just going to letting things run their course naturally and enjoy the ride.
That’s all I can think of to put here, but my askbox is always open for more questions!
Thank you all once again for your support for this year. I hope you'll join me going into our next one and beyond.
Here's to another year out of context!

Nineteen year old Kuroo who comes home to visit only to realize that his best friend is hot actually. He doesn't look that different from how he always did, maybe a tiny bit taller, a little bit more muscular - the things that happen when you grow up -
But for the first time in his life, Kuroo is...noticing him. His face, with it's small, pretty features, his soft hair, his slim body with pretty collarbones and slender fingers, but feels kind of strong against his when they hug. Kenma's been cooped up at home without Kuroo there to drag him places, so for once, he's the one who suggest going out. They borrow his dad's car and go to a movie theater, scrolling on their phones for the showings with the ignition off instead of walking the few hundred feet to check.
Kenma leans over from the driver's seat, "Look at this text from Tora," he says.
>> me and Lev found a kitten! [image attached]
The picture is of a tiny kitten with a collar and two hands, obviously belonging to Lev and Tora, petting it.
Kuroo laughs, "How does Lev always find cats?"
Kenma shrugs with a smile, and taps a reply back. Kuroo feels a strange pang inside when he leans away.
"So is there anything good playing?"
"Not really," Kuroo says, "Unless you want to watch a romantic comedy."
"Mm, if it's that one with the actress who cries a lot, it looks bad."
"I have no idea who you're talking about. Is it her?" They both lean in again, shoulders touching.
"Yeah," Kenma tilts his head to look at Kuroo, "Remember in that superhero movie, she kept screaming and crying?"
"No, but I believe you. What do you want to do then?"
Kenma sighs and rests his head onto Kuroo's shoulder, "Can we just hang out in here? I don't want to do anything but I also don't want to be around my parents for a little while."
Kuroo laughs, he remembers the stifling feeling of third year, "Sure. Wanna sit in the backseat?"
"Yeah," Kenma twists around and slithers through the gap to get to the back. Kuroo elects to use the doors.
When they're settled, Kenma pulls out his phone again. "Can I show you something weird?"
"Yes, please."
Kenma types into the search bar, /volleyball porn/, and clicks on the first result. There's a girl onscreen in a volleyball uniform humping a volleyball.
"Not that weird," Kuroo comments.
"Just wait."
"Yes!" she moans, way over the top, "Bokuto-san, yes!"
"What??" Kuroo half-shouts.
Kenma looks at him with wide eyes and a huge grin, "I /know/."
"She said Bokuto, right? She said that!"
Kenma turns up the volume and scoots closer to Kuroo. "Bokuto-san!" the girl wails.
"She /has/ to be talking about our Bokuto," Kuroo says, laughing.
"He's the only pro-volleyball player with that name right now," Kenma agrees.
"That's insane," Kuroo whispers.
Kenma cackles, "I haven't decided if I should send it to Akaashi yet"
"Fuck, send it to Bo too. He'll love this."
The video ends with a ridiculous whine as the girl exaggerates her orgasm, crying out Bokuto's name.
"I've never gotten the whining," Kenma says, "It's not even hot."
"Yeah, I don't want to know who it's fooling. Hey, have you ever looked up Kodzuken porn?" Kuroo asks, snickering. "There are impersonators who pretend to be youtubers getting fucked."
"My channel's not that big, so I doubt we'd find anything," Kenma says, typing it out anyways. They don't find real porn, but what they do find is a compilation on youtube titled, /Kodzuken Porn For Simps/
"Hey guys," Kenma's voice says. There's a zoom in as his tongue flicks out to lick his lips.
"Oh god," Kenma says, "I hate this already."
As they watch, there's a series of clips of Kenma smirking while playing COD, biting his lip as he concentrates, and untying his hair. Kenma cringes at each new clip, but Kuroo...
"I kinda have to admit, a little hot," he says.
Kenma rolls his eyes, "Shut up."
"I'm serious," Kuroo hesitates for a moment, but then decides /fuck it/, there's nothing he could say to Kenma that would fuck up their friendship, "You look good. Hot."
"Me? Or the video," Kenma says teasingly, turning to look at Kuroo. Kuroo ruffles a hand through his own hair, looking around the car with a smile before landing back on Kenma, "You," he admits.
Kenma grins, rolling his eyes, but his cheeks go a little pink, "You look good too," he says.
Kuroo notes the difference in his smile. Until recently, his grin still felt sort of innocent. A child's smile. Even though Kuroo knew that Kenma was far from innocent of course, evil plans lay behind that smile. This grin though...it's more confident. Sultry, in a way. Kenma clicks his phone off and sets it on the center console. He looks back at Kuroo like he's evaluating him.
"What?" Kuroo laughs.
Kenma shakes his head, "I'm just trying to decide something."
"What are you trying to decide?"
"I'm trying to decide if it would be weird for us to make out."
Kuroo laughs again, feeling his cheeks warm, "I don't think it would be weird," he shrugs one shoulder.
"If you say so," Kenma leans in close, resting a hand on Kuroo's inner thigh. His heavy eyelids and golden eyes are locked on Kuroo's. Kenma's tongue wets his still smirking lips.
Oh okay, this is actually happening.
Without closing his eyes, Kenma kisses Kuroo softly. Kuroo brings a hand to Kenma's face and pushes the loose hair away from it. Kenma's eyes close. Kuroo lets his close as well, inhaling the familiar scent of his best friend. He runs his tongue along Kenma's lips, who opens them and licks back delicately like he's tasting Kuroo, seeing if he likes it. Kuroo's heart thrums pleasantly inside his chest. He kisses back a little harder and Kenma makes a small sound. The hand he has in Kenma's hair tightens involuntarily. Kenma pulls away about half an inch and speaks.
"You're right, not weird."
Kuroo smiles and kisses him again, bringing his other hand to Kenma's waist. Kenma takes it a step further and shifts their bodies so that Kuroo is leaning back in the seat and straddles him. Kuroo doesn't know why, but he's sort of surprised to feel Kenma's length pressing against his body. It's nice though, it feels good. Kenma rolls his hips, obviously feeling Kuroo's erection underneath him as well. He tucks his feet in close to his body, hooking them on the insides of Kuroo's knees, and Kuroo feels slender fingers run into his messy hair. There's a tug at the back of Kuroo's head, Kenma wordlessly commanding Kuroo to tilt his chin up. Kuroo snickers softly against his mouth and the fingers twist in his hair sharply.
Kenma leans away, continuing to move his hips. "I was wondering if you felt similarly," he says conversationally, as though his piercing eyes and rolling hips aren't currently removing the breath from Kuroo's body.
"Similarly?" Kuroo manages.
"You went to college and you came back hot. I didn't go to college, but..."
"But you're hot now?" Kuroo laughs breathily.
"That's for you to say," Kenma says as though it has nothing to do with him.
"You're hot now," Kuroo confirms.
He slides his hands under Kenma's baggy top, exposing his stomach, and rubs his thumbs over Kenma's nipples. Kenma gasps.
Kuroo grins, "Is that your weak spot then?"
"I'm not an enemy boss," Kenma says indignantly.
Kuroo pinches lightly at one of his nipples and Kenma moans like he can't help it.
"I don't knoww, seems like I'm winning."
His grin widens at the competitive fire that lights in Kenma's eyes. He hates losing.
Kenma curls down and bites at Kuroo's neck, making his hands pause and squeeze Kenma's body. He runs his runs over the spot lightly and up to Kuroo's ear.
"Fuck," Kuroo breathes. He can practically see Kenma's smug little smirk in his mind's eye and decides to break it with some fun of his own. He takes a hand and slides it down the back of Kenma's jeans. There's a soft, shuddering breath in his ear. He squeezes, and is gifted with an involuntary sound. Kenma seems to take his own pleasure as an attack and aggressively sucks at Kuroo's earlobe, forcing a breath out of Kuroo's lungs.
He makes a sound that's half laugh, half gasp, "It's not actually a competition, Kenma."
//Brb, I'll continue this in just a few minutes ✌️
"Not that I'm complaining," Kuroo concedes.
A hand snakes down the front of his body and Kenma presses it against Kuroo's cock through his jeans. Kuroo takes a breath, the hand down Kenma's jeans squeezing again.
"You do think I'm hot," Kenma whispers in his ear. Kuroo groans, the feeling of Kenma's hand against him and his voice in his ear making him feel almost dizzy. Kenma unbuttons his jeans and lowers the zip. Kuroo feels his breath shudder. There's something sort of unbelievable about the situation, /Kenma/ is touching him right now
"Bigger than I thought, actually," he says, running his hand along Kuroo's length.
"What were you expecting?" Kuroo manages breathily.
"Something I could fit in my mouth."
Kenma says it so nonchalantly, like he didn't just make Kuroo's cock leak with words from his lips. He leans away from Kuroo's ear then and slips his hand inside of his underwear. Kuroo gasps at the skin to skin contact. Kenma smirks at whatever expression is on his face.
"Don't worry, Kuro," he says, "I'll still do my best."
Kuroo's brain isn't keeping up. His best at what?
Kenma slides off of his lap and kneels between his knees on the car floor. /Oh/.
"Scoot up," he commands.
Kuroo does. Kenma smiles sweetly and then pushes the waistband of his boxer briefs down. He grasps Kuroo in one tiny hand
He gives it a few strokes, "I'm not very good deep throating," he explains, in the same tone that he might have said /my blocking need some work/
"I have a big mouth," he continues, "But I haven't really done anything about my gag reflex."
Kuroo laughs in mild disbelief, "Kenma, trust me, I am not about to complain."
Kenma laughs, "No, you're not," he says confidently.
Oh fuck.
Kenma opens his mouth and sucks on the tip. It's hot and wet and it feel so good.
"/Kenma/," Kuroo breathes. Kenma hums. He sinks down lower and then pulls back up, keeping his lips wrapped around Kuroo's cock. He takes Kuroo's hands, which are curling on the seat beside him and places them on his own head. He hums again, the feeling reverberating inside of Kuroo. Kuroo groans and combs his fingers tightly into Kenma's hair, responding to the wordless order.
"Mm," Kenma hums again in approval.
He begins moving in earnest, sinking about halfway down each time before rising and sucking hard on the way up, making Kuroo's breath shake and groan. After a few head bobs, he sinks further than he has and gags. He doesn't lift up though, simply letting the saliva drip down Kuroo's cock and over his hand. His eyes lock with Kuroo's, they're watery and intense. "Fuck, you're so sexy Kenma," Kuroo groans.
Kenma comes off of him with a pop, "Thank you," he says with a little smile. His cheeks are pink, and if his saliva drenched hand wasn't currently stroking Kuroo's dick, he would look sweet and innocent. Regardless, it's cute. Kuroo reaches down and wipes a trail of spit running down his lip.
"You good?" he asks.
Kenma rolls his eyes and wraps his mouth back around Kuroo. He lowers his head, and when he comes back up, his cheeks hollow out as he sucks. The feeling shatters Kuroo's breath. Kenma starts to move faster, gliding down and sucking on the way back up, his golden eyes checking Kuroo's expressions.
"I'm close," Kuroo gasps suddenly.
Kenma takes his mouth off Kuroo and continues stroking, lowering himself until his face is level with Kuroo's cock.
"Come on my face, Kuro."
Kuroo does, spilling over those pretty features of Kenma's, ruining his delicate face with his sticky cum. When he's done, he leans back into his seat, panting. "That was. So good," he says, his words clipped from labored breathing.
"Good," Kenma smiles, gathering cum off of his face with a finger and licking it off. He looks absolutely obscene to Kuroo. This is the same kid who refused to eat a gummy bear that fell on the ground. He gets most of it off, leaving his face just a little sticky.
"Yummy," he grins, pleased.
Kuroo laughs, "How about you now?"
"I don't think you'll fit on the floor," Kenma says, getting a wet wipe from the seat pocket. He wipes the residue from his face. "That's true. Come up here then," Kuroo pats his lap.
Kenma does, straddling his legs once again. Kuroo undoes his jeans and takes his dick out. It's hard and the tip is red and shiny with precum.
Kenma pants as Kuroo strokes him, leaning his forehead against Kuroo's. "Kuro," he sighs, his eyes closed.
Kuroo strokes his hand through Kenma's hair as the other works over Kenma's dick.
Kenma sighs and gasps with the movement of his hand, "I'm going to be thinking about this," he breathes, "Until you visit again."
Kuroo's heart throbs at the idea.
"Me too," he says softly.
Kenma's eyes open and his breath quickens, uneven, "I'm-I-" he moans, a lewd choked sound, and then he's spilling over Kuroo's hand.
/His face is so pretty/, Kuroo thinks, watching his best friend orgasm. When he's finished, Kenma sighs again, deep and satisfied. He quickly hands Kuroo the wet wipes when he notices his mess dripping onto Kuroo's jeans.
Kuroo wipes his hands and jeans off as Kenma slides off of his lap and puts himself away. Kenma giggles a little. "What is it?" Kuroo asks with a smile.
"I just feel like such a cliché teenager right now," Kenma's eyes crinkle with amusement, "getting laid in the back of my dad's car in a movie theater parking lot.
Kuroo laughs, "You're an adult technically."
"True," Kenma settles against the seat, turned towards Kuroo, "When are you leaving?"
"Day after tomorrow," Kuroo says, balling up the wet wipes.
Kenma smiles, "Then we can do this one more time before you leave."
Kuroo grins, "Yes, we can."
------------------------------------------------------------------
Kuroo, age twenty six, calls his boyfriend, who's editing in the other room "Oy, Kenma!"
"What?" Kenma calls back.
"Come here!"
On Kuroo's laptop is a porn site. Typed into the search bar, the words "kodzuken porn"

Listen. I'm going FUCKING. INSANE. because it seems like almost no one on the internet gives a shit about Shy Baldwin/Reggie Harris from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, which boggles my mind because like ???? they're in love?????? and their relationship is so compelling??
And what we see of what becomes of Shy's story is so tragic obviously but to me it also hints at potential for him and Reggie to maybe someday get out of showbiz and be together. And from what I can tell, no one in fandom TALKED ABOUT THISSSS when season 4 came out!!! What the fuck!!!!! This is maddening!!!
So. I'm making this post mostly to get this off my chest and as a yell into the void. Because maybe somewhere, someday, someone else will ALSO be searching tumblr to see even a glimpse of content about these 2 exceedingly compelling characters, and I will write this so that I save that person the despair of coming up empty-handed like I am.
I'm also gonna drag other people down with me if anyone who hasn't seen this show happens to be curious enough to read this, so in that vein, I will cover some basics to outline this. Because I want to TALK ABOUT THEM despite most of this being obvious and no one giving a shit, Goddammit!!
(Spoilers or whatever I guess but who cares)
Tumblr media
This is Shy Baldwin. He's a singer (clearly) and canonically a Black gay man who (obviously) has to hide his sexuality because this is set in the 60s.
Tumblr media
This is Reggie Harris, Shy's manager and longtime best friend.
This is how Reggie introduces himself:
Let me tell you what kind of manager I am, Susie Myerson and Associates. I've been looking after Shy since we were kids tossing rocks in vacant lots. We was running numbers for Stephanie St. Clair before we were ten. When he found his singing, I collected the money, kept him out of trouble, kept people from bumping him. I'll be at his side when he draws his last breath unless I get there first. I would lay down my life for him. That's what's going on here. You hear me?
–3x02, "It's the Sixties, Man!"
In episode 3, they casually sing "Is You Is or Is You Ain’t My Baby" together just for fun.
Tumblr media
youtube
INSANE harmonies. And their flirty banter in this whole 1 minute long scene makes me want to eat my own arm.
Anyway... hold those thoughts.
So, Midge Maisel (the titular character) is the opener for Shy on tour with her comedy act in season 3. The show reveals in episode 3x06 that Shy is gay, in a scene where Midge finds him bruised and bleeding because he hooked up with a guy and it went sideways. Shy comes out to her as part of his explanation, and she helps cover up the bruises on his face with makeup so he can get on stage that night.
That leads to him doing a sitting "stool set" with slower songs because his ribs are fucked so he can't stand/dance, and the unsubtle song the show has him sing is "No One Has To Know."
The clip isn't even on Youtube, which is indicative of how much I'm suffering with how under-appreciated Shy's storyline is, but you can listen to the song here or on Spotify.
youtube
No one else can tell I think you're beautiful No one else can tell You're my favorite view Let the world all think what they will I'll wait until they're through 'Cause no one has to know I need you No one but you
^^^ Literally the whole song is like this / about being gay but that's a piece of it.
Shy looks at Reggie as he sings.
Thankfully Tumblr user microclown made several GIFs. Here are two.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
KILLL MEEEE
Clearly, obviously, this is deliberately not subtle. Everything telegraphs that Shy is in love with Reggie.
Now, considering wider context of Shy hooking up with a random man etc., one could be forgiven for thinking it's meant to be seen as unrequited love... but I really don't think that's the case. I think there's a delicious undercurrent of angst that ties into how Reggie tells Susie (Midge's manager) at various times throughout the season that their job is to make the hard decisions on behalf of their clients, and Reggie references making hard decisions on Shy's behalf or for Shy, because his job is to do what's best for Shy even at the times Shy doesn't like it. So... are they in love and Reggie tries to keep them from properly being Together to protect Shy? And/or does Shy think his love is unrequited at this point? Lots of room to play there.
So now comes the part that no one's talking about!
More explanation: season 3 ends with Midge being very straight and very white as she does a comedy routine in which she makes way too many cheeky references that out Shy as gay on stage if you know gay-related coding/lingo. There are Reasons why she sort of panics and does this, and the audience loves her jokes, but that is very much Not The Point. She's fired from the rest of the tour as a result–rightfully so.
In season 4, it's announced that Shy is suddenly getting married to his longtime girlfriend and it's totally a publicity stunt 🙃 Midge and Susie are invited to the wedding... but not by Shy; by the team of straight white dude management who stepped in to control Shy's every move in the name of "helping him to stay on the straight and narrow" to keep his career on the rails. Midge's fuck up gave them the opportunity they needed to control him. (Shy and Midge end up reuniting in a bathroom at the reception but we won't be unpacking that conversation and how I disagree with how Midge leaves things between them).
So the suits invite Midge and Susie to the wedding so they can escort them to a side room and have a meeting with them, and they try to pay them off to sign an NDA. (Midge declines for them both, saying she will keep her silence for the sake of Shy, not for the suits.) Come to find out that that management team also forced Shy to pay off / fire his entire band–who were shown to be like family to him throughout the tour in season 3–and also forced him to pay off / fire Reggie.
LOU: Look, he's a good guy, Reggie. I like him. But he's too close with Shy to control him. There's too much history.
...
SUSIE: Reggie got Shy to where he is now. You realize that?
LOU: Reggie's taken care of. Big severance. We threw him some publishing. He's buying a house in Westchester. Everybody's happy.
SUSIE: Oh, I bet. 'Cause when you think Reggie, you think Westchester.
–4x05, "How to Chew Quietly and Influence"
Here's the obvious thing: Shy and Reggie clearly had no choice in this matter.
There's no way in hell that Reggie would have left Shy willingly. Absolutely no Goddamn way in hell. Whether he's in love with him or not, Shy is "his boy" (his words, repeatedly) and he said "I'll be at his side when he draws his last breath unless I get there first." That was his character introduction! Holy shit!
But here's my hot take: I DO think Reggie is in love with Shy, and I do think he intends to keep that promise of being by his side as much as possible. And I'll tell you why.
At the wedding, Shy sings a short excerpt from his new single to his new wife:
Come close to me, baby Cool as the river When you're here in my arms Manhattan's getting dimmer I know it sparkles, too But city lights don't shine as bright as you
Once again the clip is not on Youtube and I am suffering.
There are a few more lines from the song in that episode referencing Paris and Rome (where Shy and Reggie and the band went on tour in season 3...), but it's a piece of a longer song. We thankfully have the song in full, here or on Spotify:
youtube
And in the episode, Shy says on stage that the song was written by Reggie.
"You just heard a little of my new single. And it's a special one because the lyrics were written by my boy Reggie Harris. Which is fitting because that man's been putting words in my mouth since we were kids begging his grandmom to buy us ice cream.
–4x05, "How to Chew Quietly and Influence"
This makes me FUCKING FERAL.
Especially because of the lyrics in the full version of the song... which, as it turns out, is all about giving up fame and the spotlight to be with the one you love.
There are hidden lyrics in the full track that are meant to actually be in between the shortened ones we hear in the episode. The lyrics from the full version that Shy doesn't sing at his wedding are as follows:
I’ve had the spotlight Been bewitched by wealth and fame But I’d give up that hot light Just to hear one special someone Call my name
...
I could search the world over Go as far as a man can roam But nothing I’d see Would mean nothing to me Like the vision of you when I’m coming back home Baby, you are my home
Buildings may rise And reach for the skies They twinkle and flash But they won’t ever last Like the beauty in your eyes
Whatever they may do Those city lights won’t shine as bright as you
Reggie wrote this song for Shy. He literally wrote this song for Shy. Shy says it himself! And Reggie's not in attendance at Shy's publicity stunt wedding because the suits are keeping them apart for now, but he's in Shy's heart, and Shy chooses to sing this song and share that backstory about the lyrics because they're each others' home in secret.
I can't handle it! I can't FUCKING handle it!!!!!
Like are you SERIOUS!!!! And in the episode where the suits say Reggie took his severance pay and went and bought a fancy house? BITCH. If he even actually did that (and didn't just claim he was doing it to fly under the radar), then he bought a house so Shy could one day join him there because ???? "You are my home." Ohhhh myyyy Goddddd ;___; A song about giving up the spotlight to be with the one you love........ I have connected the dots. Just wow.
So yeah I'm literally going insane. I LOVE them. I've been thinking about this for like 2 weeks and no one gives a shit but I love them! They are important to me and every part of their subplot is so compelling and makes me so emotional!
There is fic about all this that's in my brain and outlined in my google docs and if I ever write it I will post it on AO3 for the maybe 2 people who will care someday. But yeah.
WHERE is their spinoff!!!!!!!! Jk I don't want it because I don't trust they'd be handled properly. However, I am manifesting even a crumb of information about them in season 5 because Shy Baldwin is my son and I would like any kind of hint he and Reggie manage to eventually orchestrate their happiness <3
If you actually read this post, thank you so much for indulging me. I had to get this off my chest, okay, I'm losing it.
I love them and they're in love. That is all.

My whole renewed dive into trying to save all the John Oliver files I can get my hands on, which within a week escalated to me buying a new 1TB hard drive just to see how big a John Oliver folder I can make, started when it was noticed that this video was taken off YouTube:
I was glad I’d saved a copy of it, because I don’t trust anything to stay anywhere on the internet, if there’s something I like I immediately put it on my hard drive so it can’t disappear. I'm making this post mainly for anyone else who might not have saved this before YouTube took it down, here's where you can download it. Because no one should be denied the really fucking weird 25 minutes with baby comedians from 1997.
A few years ago I read this quote from Richard Ayoade, which I annoyingly can't find now, where he said he doesn't like this documentary, that they were just students and obviously didn't know what they were doing and some film people came in and said they wouldn't look bad in it but of course they do look bad. It was something like that, I can't find the exact quote. But I remember finding it odd, because surely no one is judging these people's actual comedic skill based on a few clips from a 25-minute video of when they were students. People just share it because it's funny to adorable little baby versions of the comedians who are famous now. Obviously they weren't doing high-quality comedy, they were like 19, no one cares.
Since then, I have learned that this is not quite true, and Richard Ayoade did, in fact, have reason to object to his weird student sketches being out there. Because apparently, some people are judging their comedic skill based on the time in 1997 when he and John Oliver did a weird sketch on a fence. My deep rabbit hole dives of about 18 months ago led me through a lot of old comedy message board threads, including one from 2006 of people absolutely ripping that video apart as a sign that comedy is well past its peak and this newfangled crop of comedians are all shit and the once-great institution of Cambridge Footlights has fallen. By 2006.
I normally don't link to things things directly from a message board on here, seems too close to that horrible thing where you take screenshots from one social media and post it on a different social media to make fun of it (so instead, I just occasionally see something I disagree with on a message board, and then write a post on here refuting it without posting the original context, to people who don't know what I'm talking about), but it feels more acceptable if it was from 2006, I think. It's not like the person who posted that in 2006 is likely to still be hanging around Britcom social media seeing who's quoting them. So I think... I think I need to quote just a little bit of it, because there was this one really long aggressive rant from this one 2006 post that was the funniest fucking thing (I won't like but it's not hard to find on Google):
I mean, I can't really communicate how bad it was, to be honest. But it was just the fact that you saw the two cunts writing the thing, sitting in a daylight-filled bar, giggling into their lager. You got the picture? Ugh. And John Oliver, who is the spitting image of David Baddiel (intentionally of course), is there with his pencil and notepad suggesting the lines with a grandiose smugness that made me really ill, and his mate (the blandest man ever) is there, with his jumper and his shoes, salivating over the comic genius he sees before him. Cunt, cunt, CUNT! They also have three girl-ones with them, all of whom have no talent whatsoever. You see one of them auditioning, where she has to do some improv, and she's shit... but the president (who looks like a fifteen year-old John Lloyd) can be heard wheezily guffawing at everything she says. And this serves only to make her improv even worse. And John Oliver is the worst. Or the one that got to me the most. With his hair.
That is, in case anyone's wondering, why my current Tumblr bio ends with the line: "John Oliver is the worst. Or the one that got to me the most. With his hair." It's a quote from a guy in 2006 who was really really mad about a 25-minute Footlights documentary.
So I would like to state, for the record, that by sharing this video, I am not endorsing the actual quality of the comedy in the few little sketches we see. I am also not endorsing the class system, the hold that a few elite institutions have over entire industries, Richard Ayoade's views on transgender people, or trivia in pubs. I just think they're adorable baby comedians as well as an interesting snapshot of comedy history. I'm pretty sure that's all it's supposed to be.
I am also not endorsing the class-based dominance of elite institutions when I say I still want that sitcom between two student comedians, Kim Tey and Wark Atson, who have to band together to get through their year-long university comedy play while hiding from everyone but each other their respective secrets of not really being a student there, and not really being Welsh. Madcap farcical hi-jinks ensue. People would watch it. I do not endorse the class-based dominance of elite institutions but I do quite enjoy Footlights stories, so I'm glad they made a really weird documentary with some of them. Also when I go to the UK this summer I've booked off one entire day to take the train to Cambridge and run around feeling like I'm in Harry Potter (Disclaimer: I also do not endorse JK Rowling's views on trans people, or at this point, on most things. Why can't we have nice things?).
I do not endorse the class-based dominance of elite institutions, but also,
Tumblr media
And that probably the only time you'll hear someone compare John Oliver to John Robins (very different comedians, really), especially on a post that started out just being a way to share a video that's been taken off YouTube. Download the Google Drive link if you want to keep it, everyone. That was supposed to be the point of this post. It's a good video. It features Richard Ayoade and Matthew Holness and either that woman from Peep Show or her sister, I get them mixed up. And also it features John Oliver with, to be fair for one moment to that guy in 2006, quite Baddiel-like hair.

what’s in the gaang’s youtube history 📺
aang likes videos of people doing impressive skateboard tricks, video game speedruns, heartwarming videos titled smth like "WATCH THIS TO HAVE YOUR FAITH IN HUMANITY RESTORED", unlikely animal friends, cats being silly, puppies running around, comedy sketches with high production value, and whatever else 12 year old boys watch on youtube (lego??? minecraft??? pokemon??? i .... don't actually know)
katara is addicted to youtube almost as much as she is addicted to twitter. she watches so many longass videos on social/political issues and then tweets the creators about how one hour and forty three minutes into the video they stated an opinion that she personally disagreed with, and she demands an apology. she also loves elaborate makeup tutorials that she would never even bother to attempt to replicate (but she likes to think that maybe one day if she gets invited to the met gala, she now has some looks to choose from)
sokka's youtube library is extremely eclectic. he can't stop clicking on videos titled shit like "intro to particle physics" just to watch the entire thing and be like "why did i watch this i knew all that already." but yknow. he just had to make sure. he's a big fan of chris fleming, and he's made all his friends watch "gigi the christmas snake" multiple times. he's gone down a lot of rabbitholes in his day, but his personal favorite side of youtube is the videos of chemical reactions, especially the ones that end in an explosion.
toph occasionally enjoys listening to longass video essays about obscure topics, but mostly she just listens to podcasts. she’s also partial to this one video that’s just the sound of a chainsaw revving on a 10 hour loop, and she plays it at just the right volume that her parents will be like “what’s that awful noise?” to which she innocently responds “i don’t hear anything” and they’re like “oh no you must be able to hear it, it’s so annoying” and toph’s like “are you sure? it sounds normal to me.” she tries this on katara once, but katara gets so frustrated that she just yells “oh wow didn’t realize you were blind AND deaf” and that leads them to get in a very violent brawl in which toph’s nose is nearly broken, so she decides to limit this particular gambit to the company of her parents only.
zuko exclusively uses youtube to watch cute animal videos. otherwise, he's terrified he'll accidentally click on something that might potentially radicalize him, since he read somewhere that the algorithm was designed to do that, or worse, direct him to one of those content farm generated animations of elsa getting a c section, which is apparently also a concern. frankly, the internet scares him, and he tries to avoid it as much as possible.
suki watches npr tiny desks, kexp live, lofi hip hop anime beats to relax/study to, and best of vine compilations. anything on youtube that isn't music or shortform comedy simply does not interest her.
to boost her platform, ty lee decides to go on a reality show. she pretends to be a vapid airhead, but is actually very subtly manipulating not only the other contestants, but also the crew. she walks away from the whole experience with double the number of instagram followers (she already had a sizable amount) and a huge bag. anyway, azula goes through a phase of obsessively watching a lot of clips from. that
mai is indebted to the guy who reuploaded all the “patti reviews exotic animals” videos after they got taken down from the original channel. her favorite youtube video of all time though is nathan fielder thin watermelon. she rewatches it at least once a week
ty lee’s youtube history is just meditation playlists and also the goriest true crime stories she can find #justgirlythings <3
yue loves the artful simplicity of those animated tedx videos. they’ve led her down a lot of really interesting research rabbitholes. she promised katara she’d stop sending them to sokka though after he spent the next month telling her about nothing but eel mating habits and lesser known facts about genghis khan
iroh only uses youtube to watch recordings of tea ceremonies and isn’t even aware that there are other types of videos on the platform. ignorance is truly bliss
jet exclusively watches videos with the word “callout” in the title. the longer and more contrived, the better

Glee Rewatch 1x15, Faberry and good lighting
Tumblr media
Becky deserves a much better haircut, what is this atrocity?
(Are you wondering what's up with this post? Here's an explanation!)
You can see Sue's obsession with Madonna in two ways: the first idea is that it's earnest. She explains it herself: Madonna is an important part of her.
Or you can go the cynical way: "oh. this show is actually popular. we need to sell music and so far we've had quite a few bad numbers for comedy and also a bunch of unremarkable ones. we need to speed up the sales. By the power of Grayskull... Madonna has the power!"
Tumblr media
Quinn seems eager to make fun of Rachel, but she also insists on drawing a lot of hearts... Yeah okay that's it, I'm convinced! Faberry shippers, rejoice! You have one more faithful in your ranks!
I completely forgot how much of a jerk Artie could be! That flashback is harrowing.
The cheerleaders's act is incredible but so outlandish that it becomes ridiculous, as I'm sure is the intended reaction. But I've never actually seen IRL cheerleading; do numbers ever get this complicated and audacious?
Tumblr media
Loving their outfits (+ Rachel and Tina's faces). Those hearts on Mercedes's shirt? Rachel's tartan and green? Puck's effortlessly fitted shirt? Artie's cardigan? Quinn's bright red with blue/purple outfit? Quinn should wear red more often (note from later: oh boy just you wait!), it fits her skintone and hair color really well I think. And Kurt's odd yet charming getup is a beast of its own.
A scene between Sue and Emma! And this time, Emma looks much more submissive and breedable gosh don't make that joke than previous times, where she seemed ready to fight her. Was it because she felt safe with Will, whereas now they're not together anymore so her insecurities are partying big time?
FINN WHY DID YOU PUSH THOSE BOOKS AND MADE THEM FALL ON THE FLOOR? I understand the Finn hate now.
"Mercedes is Black. I'm gay. We make culture." is such a fun line but I'm biased
"Vogue" is one of the multiple covers I added to my playlist after finishing the show and watching a +2hours Youtube video where somebody ranked every Glee performance. It's a strong performance and the clip is absolutely hypnotizing, very satisfying to watch. It just makes sense.
Tumblr media
"Like a Virgin" is also a nice performance and I particularly appreciate the beautiful lighting in the Finn/Santana section. The other two sections are nothing special, but this one? Hypnotizing too. I also like all the couples seem to worship each other's body. It's beautiful to look at. With that said, I find it weird how much importance is given to losing one's virginity. It's very ceremonial in the Gleeverse, apparently! I wouldn't say losing it didn't change anything for me, but it was just... something. It happened. End of story. Finn regrets that it didn't mean anything whereas I rejoyce in the fact that *it doesn't mean anything*.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile Emma keeps on cosplaying Daphne from Scooby-Doo and while it's a very fine color scheme, it perplexes me.
I also added "4 Minutes" to my playlist, but the original version. I think if Blaine had replaced Kurt in this song, it would actually be great!
...Damnit, he's still not here yet. At least Mercedes's performance is good. And visually the choreography is nice.
Tumblr media
This is a gratuitous screencap of Quinn smiling because she's a ray of sunshine.
Tumblr media
Matt's sweat refers to the fact that he only has 48 seconds of screentime left on the show.
Tina absolutely losing her cool when Artie is an asshole to her is one of her finest moments. You go, Tina!
Tumblr media
Don't you love it when the local church choir suddenly sings alongside you?
Overall I think it's one of the best episodes of S1. It's a fun watch!

Hi, I just learned a fact that I just love about Tony Stark, I don’t know if you heard it too but he goes to orphanages to hold tiny babies when he’s sad, stressed, and can’t sleep.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
OMG, I am literally crying! This is too good to be true, I never thought he would do that (especially with his attitude towards Baby Starbrand. “Aww, she’s so precious! *sniffs* Oh, gross, did you just poop? *gags* Carol, go change this!” Yep, I read that comic, he’s fine until Baby Starbrand cries, soils herself, or vomits (thankfully, not shown but we do get Tony Stark ranting on how disgusting messy diapers are while Thor calls him “crazy”) and basically having a panic attack when she starts crying. (Yep, he acts like those dads from those 80s and 90s comedy films where the dad is left with the kids and he does not know what to do and you either facepalm or laugh at how ridiculous he is (these clips on YouTube basically sum it up: https://youtu.be/FgsQDGPchGE) He eventually gives her to Captain Marvel because he can’t handle the gross parts of parenting. But he no longer has this attitude towards babies, guess Brandi helped him develop a stomach. Sorry to gross you out with that but that was big point in his character) Come to think of it, I thought it will only live in my imagination/fanart.
I draw it, a lot!

https://www.instagram.com/p/CaOokexrsGO/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
I have a soft heart and loved babies my whole life, you’d find me drawing them a lot! (I love seeing stuff like this) (Either he’s one of those people who love holding and playing with babies but when they cry or need changing, he’d hand them off to someone else because he doesn’t want to deal with it or he doesn’t mind that stuff just diapers until now)
Like, I am legit crying rn!
Tumblr media
He’s Iron Dad! He’s a surrogate father who loves kids, he has lots of surrogate children and he finds peace in holding babies!
I wonder if he can go beyond and care for babies too like the dad he is!
Tony is just wholesome!
Hi! Oh I read that comic! It was so sweet! I have read all of the main series Iron Man run from Tales of Suspense to modern day (though I don't remember every detail of every issue lol). Tony is such a soft boy!
Love all the details in your art!
I love babies and kids as well! That's why I became a teacher, so I could work with the itty bitties. My love of children is also why I have an absolute WEAKNESS for fan fiction where Tony gets de-aged and the others (namely Steve) have to look after him.
Oh yeah, Tony is such a dad. I don't even think he realizes how many kids he's basically adopted and is looking out for.

I have to admit, I’ve fallen in love with your AU of The Bad Batch as modern YouTubers (the post about Rampart’s apology video may have gotten a few cackles out of me with the image it made in my head)
The brothers all lovingly picking on each other throughout their channel sounds like something I would watch if it were real. Could you perhaps tell us a bit more about the video where the bald trio follow Hunter’s hair tutorial?
I’m glad you like my tomfoolery! It’s been a while since I’ve thought about this AU, but I do have some slightly descriptive bullet points of the video.
The video starts out surprisingly serine. It’s just Echo, Wrecker and Crosshair sat around a small table in front of the couch. There’s probably a line such as “As you all know, you all somehow managed to get out brother to squeeze out the secret to his luscious locks, and as you can see,” They point to their own heads. “We want in.”
They purposefully got the most comical wigs they could find, and Wrecker can’t stop giggling them. His laughter ends up interrupting a few lines and becomes contagious, leading the three too be laughing for a good two minuets in the final video that may or may not have been cut from a longer period of time.
A few minuets is spent trying to get the wigs on. They don’t know if the caps are necessary or not but they spend some time behind the camera trying to figure out how to put the caps on without any prior knowledge despite Echo suggesting they just looks for a tutorial or something.
Omega ends up walking in on Wrecker with an 18th century judge wig, Echo trying to pull a rainbow clown wig out of it’s squished packaged shape with no luck, and Crosshair battling with a wig cap. Needless to say the viewers would know the exact moment she arrived with a round startled snorts turning into laughter behind the camera.
What would a CF99 video be without sibling banter? Echo gives into it a bit, but it’s mainly coursing through Crosshair and Wrecker. Omega joins in a bit too behind the camera, going about her business or eagerly watching where this goes.
This at some point evolves into a battle with one of the products at some point. Probably some hair gel or leave in conditioner. I think this would be between Crosshair, Wrecker and Omega. In case it wasn’t obvious Echo is the adult in this situation (most of the time, once a glob of gel hits his nose he’s wiping it off and aiming it at the nearest person).
Wrecker uses it as an excuse to say “Order in the court!”
They all have a snack break at some point. Crosshair is the one preparing it because he has the least amount of product in his hands at the time. He’s thoughtful enough to make some for Tech and Hunter too (doesn’t outright admit it. Wrecker just sees him make extra and goes “Aww, you do care after all!”).
There is a small twenty second clip where Crosshair finds Tech and gives him lunch, recording his brother’s reaction to his new head of violet hair.
“Good afternoon Tech.”
“Why are you wearing that?🤨”
“Are you hungry, dearest brother of mine?”
“Thank you- But what are you all doing in the other room?”
He also gives him Hunter’s lunch to pass on, as to not ruin the surprise.
This piques Tech to go and see what’s going on in the other room. He doesn’t get it at first but does find some comedy in it after it’s briefly explained to him. He does personally think they shouldn’t be wasting hair product on the wigs though.
Tech records Hunter’s reaction for them. Omega asks him to sit down on the couch for a surprise, and the brothers just enter and give Hunter very detailed reviews about his tutorial. That’s if Echo can get his out through all his laughter. He loves playful moments like this with his brothers.
Hunter looks tired and confused the entire time, but he cracks a few smiles.
At the end Crosshair doesn’t stop his mockery, and the shortest brother just snatches the wig off of his head. Wrecker then sentences him to one month without hair (Cross is already slowly growing his hair back, but it’s still barely past the buzzed stage here) before his is swiped too in response.

taissa repressed/separated the part of herself so much that its turned into a completely Other Self
DID HER SLEEPWALKING TAKE HER TO VAN?
is it just me or is it simply the link im using or does the themesong sound... more sinister...?
apex predator (survivalist cannibal) shauna shipman is HERE
once again... a comedy<3
FRODO AND MISTY BESTIE TIME?
"it's pretty rare for a friend to so relentlessly have your back" ok so i have theories. 1) he actually is just a weirdo who is also on misty's wavelength 2) fed 3) cult member (unlikely) 4) forest-sent (unlikely but it'd be interesting)
i REALLY want misty to have a fellow morally dubious and hilarious bestest best friend but i ALSO know that we are in a tv show where things have to happen. so. im enjoying it while i can.

HOWEVER. in my PERSONAL experience with depression, therapy, and medication... a lot of the times that "numb" is experiencing "stable" like you're not feeling the super highs and super lows anymore you've tapered off and entered a more... normal? ??? range of emotions im getting sleepy so i cant remember the name of it but my therapist has described tolerance and vibrations and whatever and when youre in a Downtrend you are depressed but when you're Activated (angry, worried, anxious, etc.) you're Doing things and the goal is not to seesaw as much so violently into both ends but find a safe middle ground where you're supposed to be able to manage ur emotions well. idk what's going on w lisa i cant speak to her specifics or anything but like . im fairly sure that the idea that medication "numbs" you and turns you into a zombie is not as common as media portrays? if not entirely misrepresented or a misconception? i could be totally wrong in that and am only speaking from personal experience so take that as you will
DID SHAUNA REALLY JUST ADMIT TO KILLING ADAM TO HER KID? THE SAME KID WHO SNITCHED ON HER? LMAOOOOOOOOOOO WE'VE STARTED THE COUNTDOWN BABEYYYYYY (maybe) (we'll havet o see)

Space Ghost Week
Wherein we cover an entire season of Space Ghost Coast to Coast over the course of a week
Tumblr media
Space Ghost Coast to Coast #38: “Zoltran” | August 15, 1997 | S04E05
Zoltran features Robin Leach, then host of “The Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous”, a newsmagazine show that just featured wealthy people talking about how rich they were and isn’t that nice! Things turn south when Robin Leach reveals he’s actually a scary alien called Zoltran possessing the body of Robin Leach. This gives way to the revelation that he’s Moltar’s brother-in-law, deepening the canon of him being married to a woman named Linda. Then Merrill Markoe, one of the people whom I consider to be a CERTIFIED GENIUS OF COMEDY, comes on the show and asks a rapid series of accusatory questions to our pal Ghost. She’s great! ROLL CREDITS.
Nuggets from the audio commentary: There is talk about wanting to use the original yellow Moltar from the show (he was colored yellow in his first appearance) as a Chad Ghostal type character for Moltar. It’s likely that was actually for a different episode than this one, which the participants realize when they remember that the whole “Zoltran” reveal was something Robin Leach invented for his interview.
Truth be told, this is one of my least-favorite episodes of Space Ghost, except for the end with Merrill Markoe, which is wonderful. The commentary participants agreed with me; they actually were so displeased with this episode (and considered the Robin Leach interview to be among their worst) that they threw half the show out to jam in their freshly-recorded Merrill interview; citing it as one of the quickest turnarounds from the interview being filmed to airing on the show. Merrill is also on the commentary track (it sounds like she and Keith Crawford recorded separately from the rest of the group) and she said she knew that her interview would get edited so she made a conscious decision to just go on the attack so it would be more difficult to make her look dumb. It worked, she comes off great and hilarious in this.
The main problem with the Robin interview is that he’s sorta dismissive of the whole thing. I sorta appreciated his cantankerous wit more with this particular viewing, but you can tell he’s sorta disdainful of the proceedings and the thin veil of jocular ribbing is slipping off constantly. There’s also poor joke-writing from the Space Ghost staff, including a riff that implies Space Ghost was in a looney bin (“I’m not going back there!” Space Ghost desperately gasps at the mention of men in white coats), and a non-sequitur about cheese, both areas for comedy I consider pretty trite and boring. They really don’t put much of a twist on it. Also, Robin demands his “paycheck”, a word that just rubs me as “this is comedy for children”.
This does have one memorable gag that may have been in any episode but it’s in this one. It’s a cutaway to Moltar in his booth watching a brief segment from Cartoon Planet and wondering out loud “what is this garbage? And why am I not in it?” Hilarious! At the time of me seeing this episode for the first time, I didn’t have a firm grasp of what Cartoon Planet was, and thought the half hour compilations represented what the show actually was the entire time. So I wondered “wait, how are there clips of Cartoon Planet in a Space Ghost episode from 1996? I thought Cartoon Planet started in 1997?” This was the inciting incident that lead me to finding out that Cartoon Planet was originally an hour-long classic cartoon showcase with interstitials starting in 1995.
Anyway, I think Cartoon Planet sucks. But if you have full recordings of the hour-long version of the show please send them to me. I want all of them, for some reason.
MAIL BAG
I was watching a youtube documentary about the history of Looney Tunes which, if you will indulge me, I would say at its peak was the Adult Swim of the 1940s and 50s. What do you think of them? Grew up a fan? Who's your favorite director? Freleng? Clampett? Jones?
One of the Mommentary moms said it best, that Space Ghost was the logical next step from Bugs Bunny.
THE TRUTH IS: I have never actually been too cognizant of the director’s trademark styles in classic Looney Tunes. I was watching some really early ones earlier this year and noticed that the Tex Avery ones really were a cut above the rest, though he left Warner pretty early for MGM. I would be like “gee, this one’s actually pretty good” and then I’d look it up on IMDB and see it was a Tex short.
Always really hated Chuck Jones’ later output where he made sure everyone had high cheekbones and broad shoulders. Clampett’s Beany and Cecil, for being an early TV cartoon, was better than any of the other television stuff at that time. Freleng directed Ain’t She Tweet and Cracked Quack, which are among my favs. Ain’t She Tweet has an ingenious gag where Sylvester has wooden stilts in order to traverse a yard filled with guard dogs in order to get to Tweety. The premise is absurd and has dark implications if you think of Granny as an animal hoarder. Anyway, Tweety gives the dogs an assist by dumping a box of saws and chisels to the dogs, and even though it’s a cartoon Freleng plays the action of the dogs using the tools as happening off camera below the frame, audio only, as though it’s a live-action gag involving real non-cartoon dogs. Fucking Brilliant.
Cracked Quack has Daffy posing as a stuffed duck on Porky’s mantle to escape the winter, and he torments his dog. The scenes where Porky stuffs cotton down Daffy’s throat, not realizing he’s a real duck, are fantastic. I honestly wasn’t even aware he directed those shorts until I looked them up just now. I should probably pay closer attention to that stuff.

I'm staying at my parents' place right now, and this morning, I saw a package on their table. I've been ordering stuff to be delivered to their place lately, since I've been in transition with where I live and don't know where I'll be when things get delivered, but they've been in the same house since 1998. I'd already received the headphones and new laptop that I was expecting at their place this weekend, so I wondered what on Earth this new package could be.
Then I opened it up, and I remembered that time about one month ago when I couldn't sleep at 3 AM so I took out my phone and went on eBay:
Tumblr media
The reason I ordered that in the middle of the night a month ago is that before going on eBay, I went on the list of Edinburgh Award winners, which I've now looked at so often I have it just about memorized, at least from 2000 onward.
Anyway, I was thinking about my quest to be an 00s comedy historian, and thought I'd work out how many of the Perrier (or whatever it's called in a given year)-winning shows I've seen or heard.
2000 - Rich Hall, Otis Lee Crenshaw
Don't know this one. I've heard Rich Hall, of course, on various Radio 4 things (he used to do The News Quiz a lot), and QI, and things like that. Pretty sure the only times I've heard his stand-up are on a few of those old mixed-bill Radio 4 things. It's never made me interested enough to seek out any more of it, but if I wanted to engage in completism about Perrier winners, this would be a thing to look up.
2001 - Matthew Holeness + Richard Ayoade + Alice Lowe, Garth Marenghi's Netherhead
Great sitcom. Would love to see the stage show. Please let me know if anyone's aware of it having been filmed, because I've never been able to find it.
2002 - Daniel Kitson, Something
One of the very few Kitson show's I've never heard, because as far as I can tell from my extremely extensive searching, recordings of it do not exist. If anyone knows where to find a recording of this, I'll let you name my first child.
2003 - Demetri Martin, If I...
This one I have seen. It's on YouTube in full, and I highly recommend it. It's Demetri Martin's first full show, has more of a structure and narrative than his later shows, which I think makes it my favourite Demetri Martin show, even though I like all his stuff.
2004 - Will Adamsdale, Jackson's Way
I used to mix this guy up with both Wil Anderson (very different guy with a fairly similar name) and Tom Basden (fairly similar guy with a very different name). I know the difference between those guys now but still know very little about this guy. Jackson's Way does not appear to have been filmed.
2005 - Laura Solon, Kopfraper's Syndrome
I know nothing whatsoever about this person, which I find odd. I've looked her up before and haven't found a lot. This show was apparently a character/sketch thing. Doesn't seem to have been filmed.
2006 - Phil Nichol, The Naked Racist
A video of this show was released on DVD and it's also on NextUp. I watched it a while ago and it's enormous fun. I don't think I can in good conscience recommend to it to anyone. I really really enjoyed watching it and I also think no one should ever see this thing.
2007 - Brendon Burns, So I Suppose THIS Is Offensive Now
So... this is the thing I decided at 3 AM to fix. The fact that I've seen or heard a lot of the Perrier-winning shows from the few years around the late 00s, but not this one. I looked at the list, saw a gap, Googled it, found that he'd released this show on DVD, and then a month later that DVD appeared on my parents' table.
I don't know much about Brendon Burns. I know he's Australian, and shows up in the clips of those 00s Edinburgh things that brought together various comedians (We Need Answers stage show, Mark Watson's marathons, Late 'n' Live). I know there was a fairly recent Chortle article about him crowdfunding his way back to rehab, so that's a pretty unfortunate position to see anyone in and I genuinely hope he ends up okay. And I know that, based on the title and the DVD cover, his 2007 Edinburgh show looks like it's probably fucking terrible. But I ordered it anyway, because I saw a chance to fill a gap in the Perrier-winning shows that I've seen.
2008 - David O'Doherty, Let's Comedy
This is available as an album on his Bandcamp page. I don't think it's as good as things he's made in later years, but it's still quite fucking good, I highly recommend this and also everything else David O'Doherty has ever done.
2009 - Tim Key, Slutcracker
I recently got to hear a recording of this and it was really lovely. I'm pretty sure it was sort of the beginning of the thing that Tim Key has perfected over the years. I enjoyed it a lot.
Well that's all the 00s show. There's then:
2010-2016
I've only seen one winning show from this era, and it's Bridget Christie's A Bic for Her. Well, I've seen her Netflix special called Stand Up for Her, which is pretty much that show. I watched it last year with my mother, and it was very very good. I highly recommend it.
2017 - Hannah Gadsby, Nannette; and John Robins, The Darkness of Robins
Both of these were filmed, I have seen both films, they're both brilliant. Two shows that are in the top few I've ever seen, I can absolutely see why they gave out two awards that year. I especially want to say that everyone talks about the ending of Nannette, and rightly so because it was a genuinely powerful and well-written ending, I re-watched it somewhat recently and thought it's unfortunate that people forget how very funny the first 45 minutes are as well. The whole thing's great.
2018 - Rose Matafeo, Horndog
She looked at the previous year, saw that if you're in a comedian/comedian couple that breaks up at the end of 2016 you can win an award for writing a show about that, and did an absolutely fantastic job of making her own. The video of this one is out there too, and is definitely recommended. She didn't go the same direction as John Robins (it actually isn't anything like Robins' show at all, I was not genuinely suggesting she'd copied anyone, just pointing out a mildly interesting trivia fact/parallel); this one was much cheerier and had multimedia and staged breakdowns and nostalgia and a big finale all kinds of different stuff that was enormous fun. Once again, highly recommended.
2019 - Jordan Brookes, I've Got Nothing
This show was sort of a combination, a "best of" from his previous few shows. So I see how it won, as it showcased all his best stuff at once. However, I don't think it was quite as good as those previous few shows, because they all had their own structure and conceits that got a bit lost when put together. I do recommend watching this one, but I really recommend watching all his stuff. A bunch of his shows are available to stream on NextUp, they're all very good, but if you watch the others then you can pretty much skip this one since you've seen a lot of the stuff in it anyway.
2022 - Sam Campbell, Comedy Show
It's on YouTube under a different name (Companion), but it's the same show. It's very very funny. I made a post months ago recommending it highly and knowing that probably no one on Tumblr will watch it. But it seems worth recommending again, now that everyone has fallen in love with him on Taskmaster. It's very very funny. I cannot emphasize that enough.
2023 - Ahir Shah, Ends
One of my favourite stand-up shows I've ever heard. Could not have deserved the win more. Now come on Alex, put him on Taskmaster like you did with last year's winner so everyone can fall in love with him too.
Okay, that's all of it. I also have a copy of the Al Murray Pub Landlord show that won in 1999, I started watching it ages ago but it was so shit that I could not get past the first few minutes. I'll try it again at some point, just for historical interest. But first, I will watch a different show that will probably be shit, by an Australian with an extremely aggressive DVD cover that I had delivered to my parents' house.

again horror movie scared nonnie again (maybe I should find a small nickname as that is a mouthful and I am sorry but I am hear to bother you stay)
(I have read 'Rebecca', a few months ago and although I have a few... things to discuss, it was such an interesting read. I also got it for like two errors in a vintage book market, so the edition was also super cool).
still, I AM SO GLAD THAT YOU PUT DARIO ARGENT as I can totally see Aemond genuinely enjoying the aesthetic! also Almodovar! I am not an expert (my main expertise in movie is watching YouTube videos about movies I am curious about) but I can definitely see him being interesting to Aemond for the horror theme but also the whole concept of family he has often developed!
also I am very curious Agnes Varda as I have been suggested to check out some of her movies by a friend.
I think that your take is very much on point, I just wanted to add a second thought about gothic novels, but also, if you haven't read it and enjoy Jane Austen, I highly rec 'Northanger Abbey'. it's a parody on the gothic genre and IT IS HILARIOUS!
(and I can see a similar relationship between the love interest and the impressionable main character between reader and Aemond!).
alright, I'll shush
By all means don’t shush, and you’re not a bother! I love to talk about movies!! I feel like I could go on and on when someone talks to me about movies and music but then my messages get LONG lmao!
Oh gossssh YES I feel like Aemond definitely appreciates gorgeous aesthetics and cinematography in a movie, even in horror, which is why I feel like Dario Argento would he right up his alley! Also the way he uses music in his movies is just *cheff’s kiss*. His trilogy of witches is amazing, but Suspiria is my all time fave from him. And Pedro Almodovar is in my personal faves! I’ve always found his humor to be so unique lmao but also he totally builds his own Almodovar Spain in his movies with the colors and costumes and everything! (Lol no shame in the youtube game!! Seriously there are tons of movies from directors I’ve been meaning to check out that all I know about them is from analyses I’ve seen on youtube or that I’ve read about *sad sigh* I’ve really just seen clips from Agnès Varda’s movies and it’s long overdue that I see a complete one)
So tying back to Aemond, I feel like he can’t just watch a movie for its plot even if it’s a comedy or a horror. He’d be picking apart every bit, and the movies that are most beautiful looking, but also innovative and unique and with an intricate plot, are his faves.
And AHH I’ll totally check it out because I haven’t read that one! Thank you so much for mentioning it! ☺️
