“You weren’t…?”

He repeated, confusion obvious. Niel’s face didn’t express many emotions, but those he did were hard to miss.

“Thank you.” He bowed lightly. “They would have sent me back with someone, don’t worry. But if you insist on helping, it’d be impolite to refuse.” At least, Niel assumed so.

“You think I’m not weird.”

It was a statement, yet the vibe of incredulity radiated from it. Again, Niel didn’t, couldn’t understand. But he accepted the fact that sometimes, humans’s actions escaped him.

“I am great in some specific fields. Less in others. Like anyone. But yes, mathematics and sciences are, expectedly enough, my strong points.”

Those were all facts. Though he had to restrict himself and his abilities - being able to calculate complexe equations in the blink of an eye was not common.

Daedra seemed serious and genuine with her offer, no matter how much it confused him. And though he had no special skill at character’s judgement, he’d say she was a nice person, with a nice pokemon…

Her being kind was still the most probable scenario.

“Friend !” chirped the ball of fuzz on his shoulder. Joltik was a better judge of character than him after all - a big help for the android.

“If you’d be so kind… I would appreciate your help greatly.”

Getting help didn’t bother him, unlike coming back without all the samples would.

“I will let you lead us, then ? And you are free to call things off at any given moment. It is nice enough of you to offer in the first place.”

After a glance at Pendra, he corrected himself. “Of both of you.”

He reached his tablet to her, face trying to be amical but not really able to be other than neutral.

“Where do you wish to start ?”

Daedra gave a simple nod when he questioned the legitimacy of her offer. While Niel found it hard to believe she'd offer such for free, the redhead felt similar to his own response. Hinted from her wide blinking eyes as she tilted her head in confusion.

"Well... I wasn't really expecting you to," Daedra explained, offering him an understanding smile. She wasn't offended at all, almost finding it amusing, but she supposed many people would be skeptical.

Daedra simply liked being helpful to others.

"You don't have to offer us anything as a payment. Pendra and I aren't doing anything, we were just enjoying the afternoon, so we wouldn't mind helping you out if we can! It might even be fun to try and find the sample you need, plus it's probably safer for you! I'd hate for you to be sent out again without help. We'll just do out best to get it while we're here!"

If anything, just for the satisfaction of a job done correctly and done well. Daedra could always appreciate that sentiment, and she had to imagine Niel did as well. He certainly seemed a .... very meticulous type. Which he seemed to unintentionally prove her point as he pulled out a tablet, before giving a thorough explanation of things.

Daedra couldn't help but look up in awe and a bit of shock. It seemed he'd gotten the wrong impression from her, which Daedra quickly hoped to rectify. Jumping up, the small woman immediately waved her hands to assure him.

"Oh, no no no!" she gently chided. "You're not weird," with additional assurance. "I don't think so in the slightest! That was just very impressive! You must be really good with numbers, but I suppose you must be: working in a lab!"

Not that getting lab work made someone a mathematical genius, but Daedra knew that such places didn't just take -anyone-.

"Well, if you think multiple spots could have the moss you need, we can just check them all," the redhead explained, as if it were the most obvious reasoning. "It's still early enough, so we should have plenty of daylight. The forest gets almost pitch black once the sun goes down! Plus, Pendra should be able to keep most Pokemon uninterested in us!"

The Scolipede in question gave an affirmative little bugle, before stepping alternatively with her front legs. Yess!! Pendra would chase away any mean Pokemon - maybe even mean peoples! But peoples usually friendly - Pendra is big and strong, she will keep everyone safe!! Yes!!

If you haven't checked it out yet then Candlelight Games held an AMA event in r/choices. While I'm still censored by the CCP there for reasons unknown to me, other people asked plenty of interesting questions that were answered. Some of my key takeaways:

CL has a "no AI" rule in the contracts with art vendors, though naturally they're unable to control and enforce it. I still suspect the artist used AI assistance when creating Bardak or whatever his name was, considering the suspicious elements both in the workflow and final outcome. Whether there is AI involved in art or not I choose to believe CL has nothing to do with it. For now.

The current plan for the game seems to release it for free in episodes though mobile app stores and include microtransactions, which is... unfortunate. Premium choices always cut the natural flow of the story and ruin immersion. Also, Google and Apple are such puritans and gatekeepers that they don't leave a lot of creative freedom to adult game devs. I would have launched a Patreon or Subscribestar, dripfed the episodes through those platforms and finally put the finished product on sale on Steam and other stores and likely release some censored version on mobile. There's quite a few adult game devs among the top supported Patreons and if you want more male players then PC support is recommended. I even prefer to play Choices with Android emulator.

One of the female LI's nickname is "Niel" better be pronounced differently than the male name Neil. Hopefully the female LIs will get better treatment than the girls in their Choices books. The game's introduction mentioning "your infuriatingly attractive rival" isn't exactly reassuring though.

HEADCANONS: Often Jim will bring his ginger cat into the office with him when Niels is feeling particularly clingy. WHAT THEY’RE PLANNING TO DO IN DECIMATION: These memories have only become more upsetting.  Jim is convinced they’re only dreams because there’s no way that he could be an android, right?  Many hours spent looking at his hands and wondering if there’s really only a robotic structure underneath his skin. It’s true — synthetic skin covering the cybernetic parts, but Jim doesn’t believe it yet. What will happen when he finds out that he isn’t human after all and was created in a lab? Jim focuses all his time on work. He’s the deputy police chief in town. While taking the duties that come along with his role very seriously, he also has a softer side. Meaningful connections have been easily formed with all the other residents of Decimation, earning him the nickname of the town dad. It’s like his programming still remembers that he’s actually a hundred and eleven years old and he should take care of everyone around him because they’re all younger than him. Jim has one child — his son Toro, who just recently turned eighteen and moved away for college.

2. STRANGE FACT ABOUT YOURSELF:            If you were to walk into my apartment, you’d find medieval weaponry hanging up on the walls all over the place. I also was always compared to Iron Man, only because my entire left arm is almost all metal.

3. TOP THREE PHYSICAL THINGS YOU FIND ATTRACTIVE ON A PERSON:             Their eyes are the first thing I look at. When I saw my wife first, I looked at her eyes and just. Yes. The next observation I really look at is the smile. Each smile holds part of their personality. Then I tend to notice their height. Luckily for me, my wifey is taller than me. <3 

4. A FOOD YOU COULD EAT FOREVER AND NOT GET BORED OF:               Ooooof. If I had to choose just ONE dish, I would have to choose Lemon Pepper fish. While I love sushi, and Alfredo, the lemon pepper fish is absolutely amazing and I finally learned how to make it myself. So I won’t starve if my wife leaves for a night or two. xD

5. A FOOD YOU HATE:               Spinach. Just. Yuck.

6. GUILTY PLEASURE:              Okay so I have a few guilty pleasures. First and foremost is making characters with character creators in games. I just love making them. I also have a huge guilty pleasure for shipping. I’m actually going to copy a statement that someone else made because they describe it incredibly well. 

I love healthy ships and unhealthy ships (but like, don’t glorify them. Recognize they are unhealthy and should not be idealized for RL) I just love love, and I love the butterflies and coyness and excited uncertain that leads up to the very first time a ship admits their feelings most of all.

             But yeah. More guilty pleasures. I also love editing screenshots of characters. I love playing around with the colors and shadows. 

7. WHAT DO YOU SLEEP IN:           Pajama pants. It’s rare for me to sleep with a top on, only because my wife is a massive heater and I’ll overheat if I wear too much.

8. SERIOUS RELATIONSHIPS OR FLINGS:              Hah, well I’m married soooo. In October it’ll be 2 years, but we’ve been together for almost 5 years. Longest relationship I’ve ever had! <3 We have our difficulties, yes, but we work through it and keep on trucking.

IF YOU COULD GO BACK IN THE PAST AND CHANGE ONE THING ABOUT YOUR LIFE, WOULD YOU AND WHAT WOULD IT BE:               If I could go back, I’d tell my boss to fuck off and stay in Texas with my dad for an additional 3 weeks. That was really the last time I got to spend time with my dad, seeing as the next time I saw him, he passed away. 

10. ARE YOU AN AFFECTIONATE PERSON:             I didn’t grow up around affection. So it took a long time for me to open up and actually showcase affection to people willingly. I’m finally getting better at it though! I want to say yes, I am an affectionate person, but I still struggle at times on whether it’s appropriate or not.

11. A MOVIE YOU COULD WATCH OVER AND OVER AGAIN:             This will forever be “Sweeney Todd”. I absolutely adore that movie. Or any of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” just because of the aesthetic.

12. FAVORITE BOOK:            Oh gosh. This is extremely hard to choose, only because I love reading. Call of Cthulhu, Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones; anything from Stephen King; I read anything and everything, so choosing one as a favorite is nearly impossible.

Another good ship that I’m kinda adoring is the friendship between Shoto ( @chooseyourmuse) with Astrid. Their closeness just brings me massive feels, and I adore them. Okay, so that’s only two. Let me think. I also am really interested to see the development between Denki ( @persona-de-interes) with Astrid.

           Oh! Another super big ship of mine is Caspian with Roselyn ( @sky-gryphon) on discord. Their raw connection just. Mmph. I love it. I also am really in love with the connection between Colette and Zegnes ( @sky-gryphon) on discord as well. While she’s this big bad predator, he’s so soft towards her and I just. He makes her feel things, which results in me feeling wonderful things for them. Now another- OH MY GOSH HOW COULD I FORGET.  

           How could I ever forget Arron ( @-tiviani-)??? He with ANYONE of my kids. FUCKING ANYONE. Give me that GORY SHIP. So fricken toxic, but YESSSS. 

             EDIT: HOW COULD I FORGET THIS ADORABLE SHIP. OMG SOMEONE HIT ME FOR FORGETTING. Jupiter with Niel ( @softvorenoms). LEGIT GUYS. This ship is SO SUPER ADORABLE. Every time I think of canon relationships for Jupy, I immediately think of Niel. When I finally sit down to write the actual books for Jupiter and her siblings, Niel will either show up in it somewhere or be mentioned. Because these two. <3 <3 <3

24. WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH A MILLION DOLLARS:               I would first and foremost pay off any dept that my wife has. Then I’d put half of my cash to the side for saving. The rest would be put into paying off my wife’s vehicle (since mine is already paid off) and helping us settle down in an actual house somewhere we want to live for good. Currently we’re living in an apartment, and it’s comfortable yes, but it’s not forever.

          “Yeah, that’s a thing with you tech people a lot, isn’t it? You bond better with machines than humans. Well, if it makes you feel better, you can just think of me as a talkative machine. Might be setting my cause back a half-step, but I’ll make an exception for you.” Which Markus was perfectly willing to do for Niels, knowing that the man humanized androids more than any other human he knew. Well, there was Carl, who treated him more than a son than his own, but he was long gone. There was only hope that more people like Niels would turn out as humans were educated on Android rights.

Ghost from the Past.

It had been a long day, Himura had done more research by himself than most humans would be able to do. That's how it always had been, before androids, his co-workers had always joked he'd been a machine. Serious, never knew when to stop working, he'd been hardwired from birth to achieve great things. His parents had only encouraged such behavior, pushing him forward, having fun soon had been viewed as a waste of time. Of course, being abnormal for a child, Himura was the nail that stuck out. He'd been under repeated fire from bullying, not that Himura ever seemed to care. He never cried, never responded to the bullying like the other kids wanted. He simply picked himself back up and went about his work. Excelling in his studies had been the only thing that had ever mattered to him.

A knock on the door disturbed him from his contemplation and reminiscing. Dark eyes lifted as he debated on if he wanted to deal with the ragtag group of officers and detectives that worked at the DPD. Before he had a chance to decide, the door was already opening, a sign that whoever it was, didn't know Himura's regulations. Or maybe the other person knew him a little too well. His gaze narrowed as the man stepped in, looking like a wash out who dragged himself out of bed every morning, three hours late to his job and had black coffee running through his veins. Alejandro Warren. His former partner and mentor when he'd first joined the agency. He'd spent a good portion of his life working under the man.

"You never change." The gruff voice broke the silence, so casual, a tone no one took with Himura. A sign of how careless and/or bold of this older male to do. Even if Alejandro had seniority, Himura looked like a man who was viciously in charge. "I know what you're doing, Chisuke and I've come here to ask you to stop."

Himura curled his fingers, causing the folder he held to dent slightly in his gloved hands. It had been so long since someone addressed him by his first name, only two people ever had and those were not his parents. "If you know that already, Alex, then you already know why I can't." Himura returned, using Alejandro's shortened name though the tone in which he said it had some conflicting emotions lying within it.

"Yeah, but can't blame a man for trying." Alex moved over, leaning against the edge of the desk, his arms folded over his chest. His white button up shirt looked like the older agent had slept in it for two days straight, there were even a few coffee stains on it. As usual, everything about Alex rubbed Himura the wrong way. Then again, it'd always been like that, ever since they were kids.Back when Himura's parents moved him to Detroit due to his father getting a better job. His neighbor ended up being the older boy named Alejandro. A crass young boy, the complete opposite of Himura. At first, Himura avoided him like the plague, wanting nothing to do with the disruptive older boy.

Alex, though, thought it was his sworn duty to protect Himura, despite how much Himura protested or ignored him. Eventually they had grown attached to each other and Alex had never grown out of his protective nature over Himura and that had become a serious issue.

"You being here is a sign that you're not going to let me do this easily." Himura tested, closing the folder and setting it down on the table. Maybe he should've taken his work home, but he knew there wasn't any way he'd be able to escape Alex. The man always had a way of haunting him.

"Where would the fun be in that. I just never thought I'd have to save your sorry ass from yourself." Alex looked around the office as if searching for something but not being able to find it. Likely alcohol, the last Himura could remember, Alex was still trying to recover from his addiction but sometimes old habits died hard. Himura couldn't blame the man, a failed marriage after what happened... Himura glance away from Alex, looking lost in thought, lost in the ghosts of his past.

"Its not your fault. Leaving her made me feel lighter. After a while. I still stand by the choice I made, so stop beating yourself up over it." Himura should've known, he could never hide from Alex, the man was too good at what he did. Especially after they'd known each other for so long. "I couldn't love her the way she wanted and pretending for so long was killin' me, you know that."

"Yes, well, she shouldn't have found out like that." Himura bit back sharply. "I shouldn't have let it get that far, at least not until you told her."

"Hey, hindsight is twenty-twenty." Alex sighed out, looking out the window behind Himura's desk at the rainy city just beyond the glass. "We were young, that's the excuse people use isn't it?"

"That does not make me feel any better about it, Alex." Himura muttered under his breath, pulling his thick rimmed glasses off so he could clean them habitually. Alex watched as if knowing the sign, the tells of when Himura was under stress.

"Some things you just have to forgive yourself for, Chisuke. All this guilt isn't good for you." Alex voice softened, but the tone was something Himura couldn't stand to hear, not now, not when he was close to accomplishing everything he worked for. He slid his newly cleaned glasses back onto his face with deliberate slowness.

"You, of all people, think I deserve forgiveness, Alex?" Himura pushed himself up to his feet, rising to the challenge. "You know everything I've done and yet you still think I can be forgiven? I have caused the death of everyone around me. No one wants to be my partner after everything I've done. They're scared of me and they have every right to be, especially after what happened with you." Himura hadn't been aware of the level of his voice rising not quite shouting but close to it as he confronted Alex. Before he could continue on though, Alex moved.

Within an instant, Himura found himself shoved against the window, to chilled glass making the cold seep through his vest and shirt. A cold reminder that he was still alive, a cruel joke almost. A rough Calloused hand gripped his jaw, forcing him to look up at the taller, older male who's gaze held a certain anger but underneath was concern, fear. For him. It had always been for him and that had been Himura's greatest mistake.

"I can't take it. First you and then Niel. I won't do it anymore. I won't simply take it and keep going, I can't." Himura seemed to plead with the older agent, trying to make him understand why he was doing this. However, Alex looked back at him with a disappointed expression, the look alone seemed to make Himura shatter on the inside, all those defenses, that structure that kept him going ruined by a single man. Himura closed his eyes, squeezing them shut as he lifted up his gloved hand, gripping the sides of his head as he tried to get a grip on himself. He breathed in and out slowly, methodically until he could no longer smell coffee and alcohol any more.

Opening up his dark eyes he examined the empty room, Alex was gone. Himura sank down onto the floor, his muscles going lax after such tension being dissolved. It had been a while since Alex had visited him, but then again, it really wasn't Alex. The real Alex had been gone for almost five six years now, but he always came back, a ghost of a memory whenever his guilt ate away at him the most. His moral compass in the form of a dead man. However, it hadn't worked the time before and it sure as hell wouldn't work again.

It was Niels who found it. The little furry menace keptbouncing against the door, begging to be let out, and after a long day at workit took all of Jim’s self-control not to let him loose on his unsuspectingneighbors. He sighed heavily and tried to rub the exhaustion out of his eyes, which,he reminded himself, he probably shouldn’thave to do as an android. He doubted the Vision had to deal with pesky things like interrupted sleepschedules, the lucky bastard.

Thump. Thump. Thump. Witheach consecutive bounce, bursts of kinetic energy lit the room up orange.

“Alright, alright,” Jim muttered. He scooped the cat out ofthe air and — ensuring he had a tight hold on the little rascal — opened thedoor. “See, nothing out there but a boring hallway. There’s nothing to destroy.”

But that wasn’t quite correct. His eye caught on a small,cardboard box at his feet. He frowned. Any packages he received were supposedto be dropped off in the camp’s mailroom, not on his doorstep, and it lookedtoo battered to have been left by any of the reputable couriers anyway. It can’thave been there long, either; he’d only just got to his rooms when Niels haddecided to pull the furry pinball act again.

Then the package made a noise.

Instantly, Jim’s thoughts landed on worst-case-scenarios. Hespun around, clutching Niels to his chest to shield him from the blast. Truthfully,the cat’s powers could probably protect him from a bomb better than Jim’s ownlost fire powers, but he wasn’t thinking. Niels yowled and clawed at his arms.

The blast never came.

Jim cracked one eye open, then the other. Nothing. He turnedback around.

The noise continued.

Transferring Niels under one arm, he slowly crouched down. Hehooked one finger under the lid and flipped it open.

Inside the box, curled up in a ragged green blanket, was aninfant puppy. It was brown with a cream splotch on its nose and big, floppyears. Its tiny paws kneaded against the blanket, and it opened its mouth widein a silent yawn, its pink tongue curling.

Jim’s heart melted on sight.

He sat Niels down on the ground, and immediately the cattried to nose his way into the box. Jim pushed him away.

“Where did you come from, little guy?” Jim cooed. Carefully,he pulled the puppy from the box and held it up in the air, out of Niels’reach. “Or are you a girl?”

He looked. Professor Horton never taught him how to tell thesex of a dog, he realized.

Who would do this, he wondered? Who would abandon such ahelpless, adorable creature on someone’sdoorstep like this? Could they be another agent who knew of Jim’s track recordwith unwanted animals?

“How could anyone not want you?” he murmured.

Niels braced his front paws on the lid of the box andsniffed tentatively at the puppy.

“What do you think?” Jim whispered to the cat, “Do we have apuppy?”

“Mrow,” saidNiels.

Jim smiled. “I’ll take that as a yes.”

Ora che TCL non è più il licenziatario degli smartphone BlackBerry, la domanda è quale strategia seguirà OnWardMobility, sia in termini di design che di funzioni. Namor basically is a cat. Pointed ears? Check. Preening? Check. Only liking specific people? Check. General disdain for the rest of humanity? Check. Haha.

Namor loves his friend Jim Hammond. Jim Hammond loves cats. Namor will tolerate them for Jim other than that I don’t think I’ve seen him around cats. This is Jim and Namor during a time when Jim was in charge of Oracle Inc. Namor’s company when he allowed and funded the Heroes for Hire to use as a HQ. Its funny because Jim is an android who shouldn’t have a beard and when Namor asks about it Jim says he uses Minoxodil. lol. Notice the cat?

So a very long answer to your short question is basically Namor probably likes cats but would never admit it to anyone and Jim doesn’t say anything whenever Namor drops by and starts petting them.
