Referring to an older post of mine, this is the specific fanfic I was talking about. This was not a commission, I just wanted to write the gay so I chose one of my favorite fan ships, Tamarin the Rainwing x Anemone the Seawing, and chose to roll with it Tamarin woke, hearing a small disturbance to the leaves at the front of her home. Perking her ears, she was able to derive a familiar speaking pattern of someone very close to her. “I’m home!” The voice called in, causing Tamarin to walk out to greet the dragon whose arrival was eagerly waited for. Tamarin met Anemone at the door, and the two shared a hug. “Welcome home, how was your day?” Tamarin asked, her scales unknowingly shifting to a deep pink. With a gentle chuckle, Anemone responded, “Just the same as always, some boring meeting and patiently waiting for the time to come home.” Tamarin smiled, leading Anemone farther inside the den they shared. “C’mon! I missed you!” Tamarin spoke excitedly, the most energetic she’s been in a while. Anemone wasn’t really resisting the sudden yanking, which was fine. Tamarin only wanted to lay in the sunlight in their room. She laid down, and Anemone gently settled into the sun next to Tamarin. “I missed you too.” The SeaWing said, placing a kiss gently on the RainWing’s cheek.

Tamarin felt a burst of emotions, cuddling Anemone under the sunlight the way she was. She was so happy being able to do this after being apart for so long. Anemone seemed happy as well, staying close under Tamarin’s wing as the two cuddled and Anemone watched the clouds. No words needed to be said as the two gently settled in, ready to spend time together after a while of being apart. I love this… Tamarin thought, there is love outside my own tribe for me, and I’m so lucky to have found her. Tamarin knew there was no real point to moving, and so she just decided to stay with the SeaWing in the sun-lit room and happily enjoyed her time with Anemone.

Anemone looked over and stared into Tamarin’s clouded eyes, knowing that Tamarin couldn’t stare back, so she kept holding these moments, at least hoping Tamarin could feel the closeness between the two. She grabbed a blanket off the bed and wrapped it over the both of them.

blacier: it's kind of cute (well, the fandom version is; canon is more toxic and that's less of my thing. good for you if you like that though). no strong opinions.

quinter: i normally love these types of dynamics, but i'm not interested in quinter? no idea why. i guess like them more platonically.

sunnyflight: uhhh no. don't like this one. i think sunny kindly shutting starflight down and him being okay with that is very refreshing.

whiteout x thoughtful: i feel like people forget about them a lot..... and i can see why. i really think it's cute how they're both artists, but they just don't have much momentum.

glacier x boa: i find this one is more compelling than blacier. glacier crying when she heard boa's backstory... girl me too.

anemone x pike: i DO like the bodyguard trope... but anemone x tamarin has more potential in my eyes.

umber x qibli: sounds cute. i like the idea of umber crushing on qibli and then finding someone else though.

Thoughts about Tamarin x Anemone?

Here my somewhat ranty thoughts and/or on it: I honestly dislike it. With one of the reasons being that scene in Talons of Power, Part one, Page 63. Because in that scene, when Darkstalker tells Anemone that Starflight would be reluctant to have a ‘cure’ for his disability, Anemone’s reaction was…this: ““Reluctant? Why?” Anemone demanded. “We can fix everybody now!””

Which may possibly imply that Anemone is ignorant to the fact that there are disabled dragons are hesitant to get rid of their disability, let alone don’t want to be ‘fixed’ of it. I may even go as far to say that she may possibly see disabled dragons as ‘broken’ because of their disability, and would be happier being ‘fixed’ from it, although I maybe going to far thinking that.

And the fact that Tui chose Anemone to have a crush on Anemone, actually wrote her to attempt to ‘cure’ her of her blindness, and mentioned them dating in the guide book - I think? - without anyone negativity pointing out Anemone’s viewpoints of disabled dragons as negative or even bad feels…quite icky to me.

Also, please note although while I am Neurodivergent, I’m not physically disabled, so please politely correct if I got or said anything wrong and/or incorrect about this. I’m also sorry if I overreacted about any content within this post as well.

Anyways, sorry for the long rant lol. So…yeah. Any thoughts about this and/or Tamarin x Anemone? Sorry if this posted disturbed you at all and feel free to process it as much as you need to.

Mate I don't even have anything to add. You just said everything I could've possibly said about them. Yeah. It's a ship that COULD'VE worked, but it's really awkward and the casual ableism written into it is. uh. not good.

Nobody asked but I’m bored!! So here’s all my ship ramblings for Wings of Fire

WORD HEAVY

a quick disclaimer that, no, I do not support ships that put the DoD together, it’s really weird to me personally because their relationship is very adopted sibling esq.

Some kinda hot takes:

I don’t like Sundew x Willow, I think their chemistry is bad. They’re very polar opposites and Sundew feels too hostile when put with Willow’s nature.

Glory x Deathbringer is weird, even if their age was writing mistake due to old plans changing.

ANYWAY onto ships I care about

Winter x Moonwatcher x Qibli

These three are polyamorous, full stop, just a big ol love circle. I like to imagine it all came together in some bundle of conflicted feelings especially with Moon and Qibli.

Qibli and Winter have always been strained but even in canon we know Qibli cared about Winter and the two are close despite a generally strained at first relationship. Moonwatcher is sort of the strong bond between the two of them herself, being a middle-ground of sorts where all three are able to come together regardless a situation.

Kinkajou x Turtle

I like to think Kinkajou manages to work through Anemone’s enchantment and finds her feelings despite the conflict inside herself, I’d imagine Turtle would be there for her all the same as well.

Just the two of them helping one another and Kinkajou overcoming a genuine roadblock of “are these my feelings or is it the enchantment” and realizing that yes, those are her feelings, and Turtle’s help establishes it.

Clay x Peril

biased as a Peril enjoyer but I genuinely do believe they could work, Peril needs to work on herself but I don’t blame her actions due to her very blatant trauma and isolation from much of any real friendships. (The one dragon that initially cared for her was literally murdered.)

Clay was the first dragon she could physically touch without fear, a dragon who showed her kindness (although, its clay, thats just how he is). She views Clay closely and doesn’t know how to really manage herself and her thoughts, but she’s learning, and she wants to be better and be able to manage herself without fear.

Blaze x Glacier

I don’t have much to say for these girlies I just think they’re cute and Blaze is one if my favorite characters oopsies
