One of great hits of Playstation. You know the main team, but also the Aeons by their side.

My notes: Doing the characters was really fun, and some Aeons were really cool to draw. And I could do different wallpapers or even stickers.

My favourites are Shiva, Ifrit and Ixion.

quick thought purging so spouse decidedly replayed ffx the remaster recently then she's in the part seymour summoned anima cutscene

and i have flashbacks about the meaning of anima and having casual jungian memory about sacrificial mothers as tropes but also catholicsm

so anyway the anima sola is a prominent catholic symbol for the devotion for those souls still in purgatory

and usually a female figure with chains and in a fiery pit of hell is depicted as the anima sola but it's not the requirement just the usual

anyway yeah so seymour has the anima as his aeon summon who is actually the soul of his mother

and reboot vergil is guided by his mother in his hell so he can resurrect

both sons have failed in their goals and as such their mothers are made to endure and be sacrificed to make up for their sons' failings

seymour's mother is a physical manifestation of his and his mother's pain for the failings of their societies, as well as seymour not fulfilling his mother's wishes and to be accepted, and instead became a twisted power hungry figure set to destroy the world

vergil's mother eva is a soul stuck in her own purgatory that coalesced with her son's own hell world, as they are mother and son, but their reunion is his rejection of his mother, out of delusional jealousy but also ultimately rejecting her ideals for his own, no longer a freedom fighter as she and his father were, and instead became a twisted power hungry figure set to destroy the world

both mothers remain in suffering and actually quite ironically not like the anima sola, as the symbolism of it means the soul is destined to become free and enter heaven

but for now both mothers suffer for their children
