I'm procrastinating my (rigged) animation homework! And you'll never guess what with....animation studies! Throughout the past year I've been constantly reflecting, frustrated with myself for not being a good animator. Despite me now nearing the end of my first semester as a 2nd year in animation school, I still don't know a lot of the fundamental basics. So alongside the 51 exercises I'm doing (I'm doing it...I swear...exercise 3 is almost done just some volume and easing issues to be adjusted) I'm also just going to make myself pick up the pen and animate! Studies are really fun to me, it's mostly just copying instructions and provided images, then playing around with the drawings slightly.

Now that I can do this, I'll try apply this sort of wave with fabric into my own original animations >:)

Animation Exercises

Our Animation blogger, Nicola, shares some animation exercises that she completed. Although Nicola is wonderful at what she does, she shares why it’s important to master the basics, and that it’s never a bad idea to refresh your mind on the fundamentals!

These are three animation exercises I did to practice the basics. I’ve done a few of these exercises before, but it’s always a good idea to return to the foundational ideas. I think I'm going to be doing this while I figure out my art a little bit more. I do want to get better at animation, and while I can't download procreate dreams right now (apparently I have to update?) I can do some of them in normal procreate.

started making this a couple weeks ago and then learned there's an art contest for it! had a lot more in mind for this but the deadline is as good of an excuse as any to force myself to take things manageably. Hopefully will be able to get to the end of it someday it's so epic in my brain hrgrgghgh
