This might be controversial to say(I’m looking at all you c!emeraldduo enjoyers)but i rather dislike c!techno and c!phil’s characters, and with that, I rather dislike the syndicate.

Listen, i like c!niki and c!ranboo, but the c!emeraldduo part of the syndicate was not fun nor joyous to watch. C!emeraldduo’s presence really dampens the syndicate for me. Is that just me? Does anyone else share the same opinion?

once the leaves started to fall your mood did the opposite, haunting month passing by in an instant.

calender flipping to november, the days went by agonizingly slow, this being one of your least favorite months of the season.

thanksgiving was soon approaching and your family always wanted to make it this huge get together. no being anti-social and locking yourself away, wishing you could every year. atleast they allowed you to bring a friend from work, if you could call him that.

the chicago native was more than a friend to you, he stayed up with you through your worst nights, steeping you both fresh cups of tea and/or coffee even if it meant catching up on sleep the next day, as long as he knew you were okay.

ever since he laid eyes on you, he made a best friend with just a simple hello and allowing you to pet his dog, larry. restless nights sharing deep dish pizza and mindy's eventually lead to cuddling, his inked arms wrapped around you, placing a kiss to his scruffy cheek.

the alarm clock chirping as sun peaked through your blackout curtains, neither of you wanted to get up for the morning - well afternoon.

you were the first to wake up, groggy eyed with phil having his arms snug around your waist, sleeping soundly except for his snoring which could wake up the entire neighborhood. larry decided to seek slumber at the foot of your bed, his head propped up on the chicago native's leg.

managing to shift away from his grasp, you hit the alarm clock with a clenched hand in hopes it would stop the commotion.

"rise and shine sleeping beauty, one hour 'til we meet my family. much as i don't wanna' go.. you promised to tag along for the torture."

phil didn't budge until you deciding to smack him with a pillow, "i'm up! i'm up!" he half-yelled, removing his hands from under the warm covers in an attempt to shield his face.

"a simple g'mornin' kiss would've woken me up too, y'know."

yawning and stretching his arms out, phil took his sweet old time getting ready while you on the other hand began to brush your hair out. bristles making contact with the h/c strands, they untangled after a few more brushes, setting it to the side and entering your closet.

luckily, you prepared your ensemble a night beforehand, slipping out of your clothing from the previous evening and stepping into a pair of black underwear with white polka-dots.

lifting your arms up to put on a shirt, you were met with a firm pair of arms which wrapped around your curvy frame, his lips placing gentle kisses along your neckline.

"mm, phil- could stay like this forever but we gotta' finish getting ready." you informed and looked up into his light brown hues with a playful smile.

"not complaining but i'm more ready than you are- atleast i have pants." shaking your head at the chicago native who indeed had pants on, but no shirt.

you raised an arm up to trace his pepsi tattoo, almost lost in a trance - simply enjoying the moment and his warm embrace as you remained standing still, being held close.

glancing over at your alarm clock, ten minutes seemed to pass by swiftly. spending all day in with your love would usually be no issue, but today you both had plans.

pouting softly and burying your head into the crook of his neck, you debated staying in and bailing on family dinner.

"so cozy.. don't wanna' move." you peeked up at phil, removing your head from his shoulder as he kept his arms securely around your waist, giving your hips a slight squeeze.

tongue darting out between his lips, the chicago native licked them, "i know babygirl... but think of all the cuddles we can get in afterwards. you're my favorite little spoon."

"i better be your only-" before having the chance to finish your sentence, phil captured your lips in a deep kiss one which you returned happily, "you're the only person i want to wake up next to every morning, binge watch horror movies with and much more. i'm so fuckin' lucky to have you in my life, y/n - but we truly should get goin' soon if we don't want to be late." he spoke sincerely although a half-chuckle escaped his lips, a few noticeable smile lines showing.

nodding, you captured his gaze only looking away when blinking - "you mean so much to me, phil. i felt as if there was a missing puzzle piece in my life.. and no matter how hard i tried nothing seemed to fit until you came along. we're the perfect match." placing your forehead against his, the two of you nuzzled noses briefly prior to pulling away from one another.

phil finished getting ready by throwing on his t-shirt which read i'm a collision girl in white letters across the back, tying up his sneakers. you did the same, sporting combat boots and a pair of black pants.

it was a miracle you and phil managed to make it out of the door in time, grabbing your keys and starting the engine up as larry sat buckled in the backseat pampered with dog treats.

"first time i'm officially meeting your family. do they know what to expect?" the chicago native asked, you had told your family about phil countless times.

the fact he was your boyfriend going on six months now and how he treated you perfectly. his queen who could hold a throne all on her own, independent but yearning for a partner. someone to feel safe with - who wouldn't hurt you like past partners. phil was your king - protecting you from harm, trying his best to keep the dark thoughts at bay, you doing the same for him.

"haven't shut up about you ever since we met. if my father heard the words cm punk or phil leave my mouth one more time they may have tried to disown me." you laughed, keeping your eyes on the road.

"ah, well it's a good thing we have sound proof walls - ever since the neighbors complained and when my babygirl gets needy, isn't that right?" you nodded, cheeks a bit flustered as phil placed a hand to your thigh, giving yet another squeeze, while you reached a stop light letting out a whine.

"what's the matter?" phil asked with a smug smirk along his face, causing you to roll your eyes over at him.

"best behavior, daddy-" words betrayed you while squirming under his touch, desperate for more. a loud horn halted you from any obscene thoughts running through your mind, the light turning from red to green as you began to drive again.

the ride wasn't too much longer, a brisk breeze going throughout the car as you cracked the window open for larry, he would let out the occasional bark when stopping by his favorite restaurants, one bakery in particular catching your own eye.

"want to make a quick stop for some sweets?" you asked already entering the parking lot.

"hell yeah, but won't be be late?"

"exactly my point." phil took your suggestion, wishing to spend the rest of the holiday with him only and not your family.

bell dinging as you two entered the bakery hand in hand with fingers linking together, a variety of treats on display behind glass.

"let's get some muffins to go. 'wanna spoil my queen," he leaned closer and whispered against your ear, "while you take my scepter like the good girl you are."

I remember regularly lurking around mcytblr and reading analysis and I think I only saw coherent L'Manberg nationalism analysis from, like, Xephyr and a c!Dream blogger/fan. Which is crazy in retrospect, because the ease with which most of the fandom leaned into fictional country hardcore patriotism was/is kinda insane

And the ensuing anti Doomsday stance -- like we all know that terrorism is bad and shit, but absolute refusal to acknowledge that maybe Doomsday trio and co were not punished by the narrative for having done that was because they were right was. sure something!

Because yes, xe has some of the best L'Manburg critique out there, as well as some of the best c!Wilbur critique, everybody should absolutely check it out immediately (altho frustratingly, I just tried to find some of their posts as an example but Tumblr's search function is still absolute garbage (Xeph, do you have some of your great posts at hand and if so, can you just link some of them in the reblogs or something?))

And yes. There are valid criticisms that can be made of the Doomsday Trio's tactics (which even Techno himself sort of acknowledged later), but at the end of the day, they were on the right side of history

(Well Dream's character less so, but I can't even be bothered to try to analyse him at this point because none of his plans make sense to me)

Also nobody ever seems to acknowledge that Doomsday Trio were acting in self-defence, since L'Manburg had already gone after both Techno and Phil, and was at the time trying to kill Dream as well, although he kinda beat them to the punch (possibly because he already knew they were planning to kill him? idk, I'm not sure if that was ever confirmed or not)

But yeah, the argument about them needing to be punished by the narrative was always absurd to me, and it just betrays the fandom's belief that L'Manburg was supposed to be objectively good, despite all the evidence that it very much was not, not even to its own citizens! And possibly also the unquestioned assumption of "state good, anarchy bad"

Meanwhile the actual narrative repeatedly shows that L'Manburg always ends up becoming toxic, corrupt and ultimately oppressive, even under the Good President, while on the other hand the anarchist commune eventually turns into a sanctuary for all sorts of people who need a safe place to stay (even arguably the aforementioned former Good President when he needs somewhere to hide his son from kidnappers)

And yeah, this is why I did get pretty heated about some of the debates at the time, and I kinda still do, because in the process of assuming that L'Manburg was always the good guys, they ended up repeatedly justifying just absolutely horrific state violence as well as excusing early L'Manburg's xenophobia (as comedic as it initially was), which unfortunately mirrors a lot of real world authoritarianism and xenophobia

To be fair a lot of this was probably also protagonist-centric morality, since most of these people also saw the L'Manburg side as the main characters, but then again what is nationalism if not a form of protagonist-centric morality where you see your own country as the protagonist of the world lol

I might actually need to make a proper post now since multiple people have shown interest, unfortunately I'm also very lazy and kinda made my main points in that low effort post already

Which would mean that it would actually have to be a high effort post to justify its existence

How And Why We're Getting "Christian Reconstructed" Out Of Civil Society: An LGBTQ+ Activist's Guide To Action

This is based on my response to a recent Reddit post about the New Apostolic Reformation/Dominionist/Christian Reconstructionist political movement that's behind anti-trans, anti-drag, anti-LGBTQ+ laws, parental rights, systematic destruction of libraries, book bans, harassment of librarians and teachers, the "don't say gay" movement, the 303 Creative Supreme Court "right to discriminate" decision, school board takeovers, curriculum cleansing, the antics of Roger Stone and General Flynn, and every other damn thing that's making our lives hell in America. Here's how to understand the whole toxic mess so we can fight these jackals off, protect ourselves, claw back our rights, and put this movement down for good.

7 Mountains: Gotta Catch 'Em All! "There's no reasoning with these people and their cultish beliefs," many people are saying, and I think it helps to understand the source of those beliefs in order to fight effectively against the tide of hatred that is on the brink of destroying what's left of our rights and freedoms in this country.

I grew up Fundamentalist Evangelical in the 1960s and 70s. Looking back, the seeds of today's poison were being planted even then in ways that were subtly but unmistakably aligned with the New Apostolic Reformation ("NAR"), the movement based on Dominionist "7 Mountains" Christian nationalism that's the driving force behind Moms for Liberty, Gen. Flynn and Roger Stone, the Alliance Defending Freedom (the org that brought the anti-LGBTQ+ web designer to the Supreme Court), Charlie Kirk and Turning Point USA, the GOP candidate for Governor of Pennsylvania last election cycle (Mastriano), and more. (Check out Jennifer Cohn, jennycohn1 on Twitter, a journalist whose coverage of Christian Nationalism is amazing and essential.)

Evangelical involvement in politics was minimal until the rise of Ronald Reagan, Jerry Falwell, and the "Moral Majority" in 1981. In the 42 years since, it's been a steady march to bring the seeds planted in us kids in the 1970s to today's hideous bloom.

I don't adhere to those beliefs, but I have a deep native knowledge of their intent and the ways believers are impelled by them to make these laws and file these lawsuits and elect slavering semi-sane madmen to power and stoke cultural panic.

These people aren't just getting started - they've got traction, scalps on their belt already, and they're gaining steam and hungry for more.

NAR Christians (such as Ginni and Clarence Thomas, Sen. Ted Cruz' father Rafael, former Rep. Michelle Bachmann, failed GOP candidate for governor of Pennsylvania Doug Mastriano, Jan. 6 co-conspirator Phil Waldron, General Mike Flynn, insurrectionist Roger Stone, and the Moms For Liberty) believe that it's their Divine Mission to prepare the nation and the world to become the Kingdom of God.

This is called "post-millennialism" - the term for the set of beliefs upon which the NAR is based and that drives its adherents. NAR believes that we are in the End Times as foretold in Scripture, and that today's Christians are commanded by the Lord to do everything humanly possible in pursuit of one singular goal: to bring God’s kingdom to pass on Earth and prepare the way for Christ's return. Viewed for decades as a far-out fringe heretical movement populated by apostates and quacks, these zealots will stop at nothing to bring this to pass.

See all the "cleansing" that's going on now? Roe v. Wade overturned, the abortion bans, the trans bans, the anti-drag laws, books being pulled from school shelves, public libraries being shuttered and defunded, anti-immigrant laws, the Twitter takeover and its right-wing reformation - the list goes on. This is ALL a direct result of the NAR/Christian Reconstructionist influence and the untold dark-money billions and shadowed billionaires that finance it.

We're in a very dark and deep hole, as a country, as a culture. But we're not helpless. We start by arming ourselves with knowledge, by reading and heeding the reporting of Jenny Cohn and Bruce Wilson and Kira Resistance on Twitter and in the Bucks County (PA) Record reporting from the epicenter of Dominionist/NAR politics, take action online and in the places where we live. In today's world, we can be activists and influencers for good without having to leave the house, and if you want to protest in person or march in support of the cause, you won't be alone.

There are movements and organizations gathering steam in our community that have been preparing for action and are ready to launch. Some are more visible than others, but all are made up of committed activists, funders, legal advisors, and LGBTQ+ citizens who are tired of being abused by these people and the violence (literal and legislative) against us. Old-line AIDS activists like me are disgusted at the sight of our life's work and our decades of progress being rolled back and obliterated seemingly overnight. Gen Z and Gen Alpha are just not having it and are rightly pissed off by what's shaping up to be a bleak future.

It's not going to be easy or quick, but I know there are enough good people among us to hold back the worst of the current moment, rebuke and reverse the legislative oppression and physical danger, restore full access to HRT and gender-affirming care, roll back the "abortion bounty" laws and support vulnerable individuals and families with assistance and relocation, claw back and secure the civil rights that have been stolen from us, and restore light to our country, our culture, our lives, and our future.

I'm engaged in this fight, and after nearly 40 years of activism I've never been more lit up with passion and determination than at this moment. This fight is winnable. You're needed now. Watch this space for opportunities where your presence, your effort, your voice is wanted and will be welcomed, and feel free to message me with your questions, ideas, activist resources needed or offered, organizations you know of that need support, general questions, strategic advice, and words of encouragement you wish to give or need to hear. Assassins as DSMP Characters

So i got really into this musical called "assassins" by steven soundheim, which is about 9 of the presidential assassinations (attemped and successful), and i was listening to "another national anthem" earlier today, and i got the random idea of it but with dsmp characters

It mostly started off from when I was listening to "the gun song" and thinking about SBI as the assassins there (Czolgosz as Techno, Booth as Phil, Guiteau as Wilbur, and Moore as Tommy). Then I was trying to think about the entire cast: that Czolgosz could really fit c!Techno, and then making the connection with Guiteau and c!Wilbur, Booth as c!Dream, the balladeer as c!Tommy, the proprietor as c!Ranboo or c!Phil (I leaned more toward c!Tommy), and then Byck as c!Ranboo

Keep in mind I haven't seen any recordings of the actual show, I just listened to the soundtrack and read about people's reactions to the show in comments and such. And also, it's been a while since I've consumed any primary sources for the dsmp, so I'm mostly going off memory (and I generally only watched Techno/Tommy's streams, though I did tune into others time to time)

I then fully fleshed out the whole sort of "cast" for "another national anthem":

Booth = Dream Zangara = Jack Czolgosz = Technoblade Hinckley = Sam Fromme = Karl Moore = Nihachu Guiteau = Wilbur Byck = Quackity Proprietor = Ranboo Balladeer = Tommy

For Booth and c!Dream, it was mostly cause they're both the most, like, "comically evil" of the bunch. I don't know exactly how to describe it but I'm sure everyone can get what I mean.

For Zangara and c!Jack, the whole sort of bitterness Zangara showed in "how i saved roosevelt" just reminds me alot of c!Jack's character, specifically the whole tommy anti plot that he had.

For Czolgosz and c!Techno, this was based on "the gun song" where Csolgosz' monologue about the workers strikes really similarly to c!Techno's anarchist opinions. I think in general communists and anarchists appear somewhat similarly to each other.

For Hinckley and c!Sam, Hinckley's whole bit in "unworthy of your love" just reminds me a lot about c!sam's "oh woe is me i do it for him"

For Fromme and c!Karl, I'm gonne be honest I don't remember why I made this connnection. In my notes I just wrote "karlnapity breakup." I feel like in general Hinckley and Fromme (and to a lesser extent Byck and Moore) don't really get much attention compared to the other assassins.

For Moore and c!Niki, same situation as with Fromme-Karl.

For Guiteau and c!Wilbur, it's because Guiteau is the most, like, manic!crazy of all of the assassins, which just reminds me alot of c!Wilbur. And just alot of beats from Guiteau's characterization feel VERY similarly to pogtopia!wilbur

For Byck and c!Quackity, I feel like Byck had alot of cynacism that feels very in line with c!Quackity's character

For the proprietor and c!Ranboo, I just feel like the proprietor is like sympathetic to the plights of the assassins, which to me felt very in line with c!Ranboo's whole "choose people not sides" bit he had going on. I was considering putting c!Dream here, considering he supplied people similarly to the proprietor in "everybody's got the right" but I thought that c!Dream would be better as Booth.

For the balladeer and c!Tommy, I just think that c!Tommy comes across as a stereotypical "oh but we must have hope no matter what!" shonen protagonist, and the balladeer just feels like a sort of antagonist to the assassins' cynical ideas, some people described him in "another national anthem" as if the embodiment of the American Dream (tm).

I figured out why yesterday felt anti-climactic to me.

It's because the characters felt entirely powerless the whole night.

The most choice I saw happen was a. Maxo threatening the nuke (he didn't get to detonate it), b. Phil & Fit saving others (not enough. they were both disappointed with how many they didn't save.) and c. the few who decided to stay behind (was it a choice? could they have made it?).

The story finale felt like it could've happened the same way without them. What's the point?

Seeing the reaction to TFC just is reminding me to warn you it will likely be worse for c!phil n c!techno (because people see dsmp and just want to tear into it /neg) so I'm just gonna remind everyone again that c!(name) means the character, and while it won't be insulting the real people who play them, people do associate c!techno with cc!techno's (content creator) legacy. So for anti-propaganda just be kinder on the c!techno side but on the c!phil side it should be ok (im used to seeing character slander for him cause people don't understand c!phil like I do)

+Quackity would be a sensual/cuddly high one. Gotta drop those defenses being the overly workaholic

+Schlatt tried and failed to introduce Q to weed. Mostly, because Schlatt was so sappy and sweet while high and he realized that and immediately reversed his entire policy and claimed "God fearing Catholic men don't smoke weed" before eating way too many edibles not five minutes later in an attempt to get rid of the evidence.

+Tommy and Tubbo witnessing this became firm on their anti drug (or honestly, just anti whatever the fuck Schlatt was on--he was just a poor autistic sheep man way too high)

+Wilbur introduced it to Quackity with 'evil' plans to get Q's defenses down and break into Las Nevada's, but Q had a genuine moment of sensitivity and vulnerability while high, that Wilbur immediately dropped the plans and instead consoled him

+"I'm always worried you'll leave me," Quackity says. "you're rotten for me. You make me worse, but at least you're here. Unless I'm in the mood to seance Schlatt or--Ha, I don't know. What I did to Slime was fucked up, huh....Bet you cannot relate. Did you ever think Tommy would turn out like this?"

Wilbur laughs. There isn't humor, only a dry creaking sound.

Forget everything you know about zombies. That they're supposed to be cold. Dead. Men who come back from the dead should be more obviously wrong. But he isn't. Other than the white streak, and darkening depression circles under his eyes, he's not a dead man. Like he should be. He's warm under Quackiy's cheek where it presses against his ratty coat.

"so are you. You're honest," Wilbur says. "scared."

"I'm not scared." Stubborn.

"you asked why I wouldn't leave..." Wilbur starts. Considers his words. Looks at his hands.

Too long passes.

"it's times ike this i remember you care. And you hurt for it. And I don't want to be the one to hurt you."

Those red-tinged brown eyes, more amber, more akin to the shiny backside of a beetle. Something that was a part of nature but off-putting all the same.

"but...you know me..places to be. People to see," Wilbur pushes himself up. A full rest passes.

And with the down beat on two he says, "You don't have to worry. Your secret is safe with me. That there's a human inside that corporate shell."

And there's another one in Wilbur too. Hiding in the shadow of Phil and Techno, on the other side of the same coin as Dream... A figure so clearly him. But so well concealed.

MORE CAT HYBRID WILBUR HEADCANNONS

When Wilbur was a kid he used to climb on the fridge and hiss at Phil whenever Phil tried to make him to something he didn’t want to do.

Wilbur has a tail giving him better balance then a human. He’s somehow managed to climb the needle several times. Quackity put one of those anti squirrel nets on the needle to stop him and Wilbur ate it.

The tip of Wilbur’s tail is white matching the white steak in his hair

Wilbur has in fact sat outside of Quackity’s window and yowled to get his attention.

Sam is scared of Wilbur because he’s a creeper hybrid and Wilbur is cat hybrid. Wilbur uses that to his advantage whenever he and Quackity are fighting. If Sam tries to step in Wilbur just meows. Sam mumbles an excuse and flees every time.

c!Wilbur used his beanie to hide his ears. Not because he was ashamed (even though hybrid discrimination is a thing) but because they where a dead giveaway to his emotions. His ears would flatten every time he was around someone he didn’t like which wasn’t very political useful.

Kitten Wilbur played with yarn all the time and there are many pictures of Wilbur as a toddler tangled up in a yarn ball.

Dream gave Wilbur a little smily face collar to wear when he brought him back to life as a “gift”

Wilbur used to use his claws to brush Quackity’s wings in Pogtopia. It was the only form that of physical contact Quackity could stand and something about the sharp claws relaxed him. Even felt a little familiar.

Wilbur and AntFrost hate each other.

Wilbur has curled into Technos cape, started purring loudly and fallen asleep more times then he will ever admit.

Fran the dog has chased Wilbur more then he will ever admit.

Wilbur loves warm milk and he and Eret used to stay up late and drink it together on the worst nights of the war.

I was focusing more on the QSMP, because the atmosphere of the DSMP fandom enviroment was so anti-shipping that it actively discouraged kinky or non-platonic reads of things! So situations that in another fandom I would go "huh" (two adults of a very close age assigning one of them as a parents and calling them "Papa" and "Daddy",) I did not react that way in DSMP fandom, and that's one of them. They said it was platonic, I'm happy to keep that lens in place. That is not the case for every enviroment and every relationship in the world, though.

Also like, two points. One, canon relationships are one thing, I'm more focusing on fandom responses, and how they take characters ooc and put them in different dynamics, or start expanding on canon dynamics and twisting them until they're a new thing, and how it takes on Certain Undertones that are not present in the canon.

Two: I am asking you to look into your heart. Do you truly think that people were and are quite the same way about the Puffy-Foolish relationship that they are about Phil-parental relationships. Did you see people talking about how Foolish just needed so much help and guidance and he'd just be lost without her but thank goodness Puffy was there to support him and calm his fears and make sure he sleeps peacefully and they just identify with Foolish so much. Did you see people absolutely furious that Puffy was not a note-perfect dad to Foolish and react perfectly to all his woes because othewise she's being a bad father and a bad influence and they deserve a perfect father figure in their media and she's Hurting Them by Hurting Foolish and they love the CC so they're so betrayed that he would treat them that way? Did you scroll past posts about wanting C or CC Puffy to be your Dad and take care of you and give you validation and support? Did you scroll past posts about how cute it would be if you were on the server and puffy (phil) gave you a bath and tucked you in?

Today I drew John Africa for today's theme.Which is MOVE Bombing.When members would greet each other they would say 'on the MOVE.' The MOVE organization spoke about racial and environmental injustice on street corners and protested in front of numerous organizations throughout the city of Philadelphia. And euring these protests members were more often than not arrested and jailed.In March on 1976. while seven MOVE members were returning home from jail, police were called to their residence claiming they were responding to a disturbance of peace complaint. A fight ensued and while MOVE member Janine was trying to protect her husband Phil from being beaten by police, she was GRABBED and THROWN to the ground while clutching her three-week-old baby, Life Africa, in her arms. Janine was stomped on by police until she was nearly unconscious and the baby didn't survive...and the worst part is no officer was ever charged with any crime (So apparently murder,assault and hate crime are not crimes when THEY did it? What the actual f@#k).MOVE members reorganized and moved to 6221 Osage Avenue in 1981. The house was a fortress, fortified with bunkers inside and on the roof. They continued to stage protests and broadcast their messages day and night by bullhorn from the rooftop bunker. Numerous complaints of disturbing the peace, unsafe living conditions, and child endangerment were filed against MOVE from neighbors and federal agencies. Several previous attempts at removal were met with violence by MOVE members. The city subsequently cut off water and power to the home and stopped picking up their trash, heightening tensions with the organization.On May 13, 1985, city officials sent police to serve arrest warrants, with orders to carry out by extreme force. Nearby local residents were told to evacuate but could return to their homes the following day. Nearly 500 officers in SWAT gear, backed by heavy artillery and an anti-tank machine gun, surrounded the block. A shot fired from inside the MOVE residence was met by a volley of over 10,000 rounds in 90 minutes all shot into the home.5 fire trucks pumped gallons of water through the basement (if you're wondering why they pumped water in there it's because the MOVE members were hiding there...WITH CHILDREN) and tear gas was thrown into the windows of the home. SWAT teams tried to blast holes in the walls of adjoining houses to gain entry. MOVE membersk were holding the children up in the air to avoid drowning in rising waters. The all-day standoff led to the city dropping a C-4 bomb on the rooftop of the home. The bunker did not fall, but the roof of the home was engulfed in flames. 65 neighborhood homes were destroyed and over 200 residents lost their homes.11 MOVE members, including John Africa and 5 children were killed. One adult, Ramona, and one child, Birdie (13 years old), survived the bombing but were severely burned. Ramona was convicted of conspiracy and jailed for seven years. She later sued the city and was awarded a $1.5 million settlement in 1996.Several articles, books, and two documentaries, The Bombing of Osage Avenue (1986) and Let the Fire Burn (2013), have been produced about the incident. In 2017, a historical marker was erected on the corner of Osage and Cobbs Creek Parkway, by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission. Plans for redevelopment by city officials and private companies have failed, and the destroyed homes remained boarded up.

I actually have covered this one before but it's literally my arch nemesis so I'll go over it again just rq bullet list format

this take is borne of two things: 1. Misunderstanding emeralds (esp Techno) as "static" and 2. Misunderstanding c!Ranboo's concessions mechanism

Okay the first thing that has to be addressed is that this is not an out of nowhere take necessarily right yk antistrawman principle strongest ver etc. Like Ranboo HAS been intimidated into doing shit by Techno before and there's two points where that's most prevalent and relevant

1. The armor interaction. This is pretty unambiguous. However notable here also is that these terms are extremely clear and straightforward they are a bit arbitrary re time and such but Ranboo does not have to maneuver hidden threats the terms of the threat are extremely upfront. Now this is not necessarily smth that makes this interaction good but it is smth that is extremely clearly communicated. This is not a Complicated Eggshells Routine there is no veiling of when the other shoe drops it is extremely straightforward physical threat and navigating it is not convoluted. Again tbc this isn't good straight out but it IS a clear communication that does end up laying groundwork for later development

2. The actual Syndicate stream. This is the key thing here okay. I will try to keep this concise

RANBOO DID CANONICALLY COME ALONG BECAUSE HE WAS AFRAID THAT THE THREATENING NOTE TO TBBO WAS RELATED TO THE SYNDICATE, AND HE WANTED TO KEEP TUBBO SAFE. Ppl aren't strictly making this up they are taking off their blinders for a second to see Ranboo make his classic maneuver wherein he complies with a threatening force to try to get in on and influence it perhaps away from threatening him and his (to varying success). Ranboo IS being careful here and he IS ultimately complying in making this decision

HOWEVER important things here also include: 1. Technoblade, who is currently actively making an effort to check his behavior and mien to not be coercive, himself actively backs off from the dark alleyway bit when he realizes it might be/is genuinely intimidating. 2. Ranboo is confident enough to test the waters not once but twice in major ways pointing out explicitly the anti coercion clause (the scene . Means a lot to me) and also to say that he can advise because he knows how to not be violent (he never does bc the Syndicate doesn't do anything and also Ranboo is full of shit)

These don't necessarily change the fact that his ultimate decision is that maneuver I mention b4 BUT the thing is ppl constantly miss that Ranboo overtunes on this. He's careful and he's still not gotten proof they won't fuck Tbbo up which he actively doesn't want... so he does the thing that he does with EVERYTHING he does this with NLM the whole time he does this with Tubbo he does this with Wilbur he arguably did this with Tmmy and it can be inferred he's done this w/ Dream THIS IS A THING RANBOO DOES THIS IS HOW HE LIVES. AND IT'S NOT GOOD

WHICH IS WHY IT IS GOOD WHEN AT THE END OF THE STREAM WHEN THE SYNDICATE HASN'T FUCKED TUBBO UP AND HAS KEPT UP ITS WRITTEN MISSION RANBOO TALKS TO PHIL ABOUT HIS REMAINING APPREHENSION AND IS EXPLICITLY REASSURED THAT THIS IS NOT AN OBLIGATION OR EXPECTATION OF LOYALTY. AT THIS POINT RANBOO HAS HAD HIS CONCERNS ASSUAGED BOTH IRT TUBBO AND IRT THR SYNDICATE'S IDEOLOGY!!! THIS IS THE ARC OF THAT STREAM!!!!! THINGS CHANGE

MUCH LIKE HOW THE PEERPRESSURE ARC IS ABOUT . TJOSE THINGS CHANGING. Techno at Multiple Points explicitly works to tell AND show Ranboo that not only is Ranboo not genuinely obligated to him or Phil or the Syndicate or the commune but also that Ranboo's safety and agency is smth Techno Will Take Steps To Defend. Like .

AND WE ARE NOTTTTT FORGETTING PROMISEDUO. Ranboo has not at ALL expressed a significant fear of Philza because their first significant interaction was Phil getting him out of lava and they have remained amicable since!!! Phil minds his own business and respects Ranboo and Ranboo RESPONDS TO THIS!
