Me before the himym finale: stella was a major bitch to ted for leaving at the altar for her ex tony, moving to new york with tony when she refused to do so for ted, asked ted to get tony to take her back, and letting tony write that screenplay that made ted look bad
Me after the himym finale: i change my mind stella was right to do that to ted

There were only 2 acceptable endings for Robin in HIMYM.
1. She and Barney stay together because they are actually perfect for each other. They have similar values, they support each other, and they are an excellent laser tag duo.
2. Robin and Barney split up because as much as they love each other, their life goals are incompatible. Robin goes on to decide she prefers being single, and although she sometimes gets a little wistful about what might've been in her love life, she is enjoying the crap out of her life. She's an award-winning journalist who travels the world, meeting all sorts of interesting people and having so many adventures. When she's in NYC, she still spends time with her best friends- her family- enjoying their happiness while they enjoy hers.
Either of these endings would have been PERFECT for her. Instead, the writers decided to force Ted and Robin together, no matter how their ending splinters the story around them. Malvados...👿

"Toxic" chaotic bi4bi m/f couples doomed by the narrative that were baited and then pushed aside in favor of a mediocre boring hetero ship

Rewatching himym. Did you know that Barney who is the man sult of the group, took Ted with him so Ted would have fun? This man saw another dude coasting through life and waiting for something to happen so the dude's life could be fulfilling and said to himself I am gonna make his life better. Barney understands someone's deep down issues and tries to help. Yet Ted treats him like shit. Always your not my best friend and why do I hang out with you. Barney sees an awesome moment and goes it means less without friends. Did I also mention he knew all the taxi cab driver's names and treated them like members of the gang/his friends? So yes I believe Ted the unreliable narrator made Barney look worse so his kids would be okay with him perusing Barney's ex wife. Like Ted didn't deserve Robin or Tracy. Barney didn't deserve his treatment in the finale.

You know... I find it crazy that two series / sitcooms that are already similar in many ways, namely FRIENDS and How I Meet Your Mother, were also on the ship ! I wanted Rachel and Joey to end up together and Robin and Barney to end up together ! And instead I got Rachel and Ross and Robin and Ted ?! (Especially since Barney and Joey are both men who have never been in love before Robin and Rachel…) WTF SCREENPLAYS ?! The whole Ross and Rachel relationship is incredibly toxic and you focused your entire last season of HIMYM on Barney and Robin's marriage ! FOR WHAT ?! ESPECIALLY FOR COUPLES AS BAD AS ROSS & RACHEL, AND TED & ROBIN ! It's like Joey ended up with Dawson instead of Pacey, that makes no sense !

If Ross and Rachel went on that date in the pilot, he def would’ve pulled a Ted Mosby and said ‘I think I’m in love with you.’

look i know it's been years but the thing that really pisses me off abt the jane the virgin ending is that, like..... I get it. I get what you were trying to do. you had the main character trying to decide between the safe but boring thing (teaching/michael) and the exciting but risky thing (writing/rafael) yes narratively it makes sense i get it. Did you also need to make him treat her like shit tho? like what was the narrative purpose of your leading man being straight up garbage i don't understand

While Ted claims he wants to be like Marshall but he is actually more of a Barney. He likes to chase girls and brags about how many of them he has slept with. Think about how he chased after those college girls outside of McLaren's (creepy especially considering he was almost 31 at the time and later went on to become a college professor), dates his student, chases after Maggie right after she breaks up with her long term boyfriend and even steals Barney's phone where girls keep calling him. Also think about how many girls he dated or had something with. That is not a romantic looking for love, that's a serial dater who just enjoys the conquests and chase.
"in most of my stories, I am a starry eyed romantic but in this one I am just a jerk" I feel like he is a jerk in quite a few of them.

Hi :D
I feel like I already know this one, but what's your anti otp/notp
You'd be correct. I don't hate any ship as much as I hate Kataang and Maiko, so now that I've named the obvious ones, I'll give you a couple bonus.
I hate Rory and Jess from Gilmore Girls. I wasn't a fan of Rory and Dean, but Rory and Jess are almost at the same level of hate for me as Kataang (I know! Le gasp!) I don't like the trope of the guy who hates everyone except his love interest, and Jess is that taken to the extreme. He's rude to literally everyone Rory cares about, but because he's read the same books as her and he's kind of nice to her, she fell for him? Also, he's garbage to me forever after The Party Incident. Which is never brought up again. I know he "made good" in the revival series, but it's too late. Plus it's mad creepy that he hasn't moved on from her in almost 2 decades. Did he ever have any other romantic relationships after her?
Also on my NoTP list is Ted and Robin from HIMYM. This is an example of why you should be very careful when committing to an ending for a story you haven't finished writing yet. If Ted and Robin had happened in season 1 or 2, I'd have been on board(ish). It would have been the predictable choice, but it would've been fine. But then the show spent over a decade explaining why they don't work as a couple, and building up Tracy, who managed to deliver and deliver hard in just a few short episodes, only to force Ted and Robin back together. What's going to be different this time? Robin is still pretty young. Is she just done globetrotting? Is Ted going to give up his career to follow her? I know his kids are older, but they'll still need him around until they're at least half-way through college. Is he going to try to be there for them from Argentina or Japan or wherever Robin ends up? Is he going to be okay living abroad when they start their own families? The show ending on them felt like a waste of 10 years.
Send me more asks from the list!

I can forgive ted & even be an apologist for a lot of the awful shit he did even if I despite ted/robin as a romance with my whole heart because ted is a romantic at heart & his intentions are mostly good & sometimes people just aren’t meant to be etc but I can NEVER forgive him for making robin get rid of her dogs

Hot take: While Barney was a player, he was nowhere near as gross as Ted made him out to be. Ted just made stuff up about Barney because he's a bitter bitch and mad that Barney was more successful with women and that Robin chose him over Ted.
So true. Like how is the guy who flew to San Francisco to get Lilly becasue love is real and she found it, the man who slept with all of New York? I whole heartily agree anon!
