Naruto growing up to be a shitty father isn't actually out of character? Suffering from extreme neglect doesn't immediately make someone good at parenting, and it's impossible to break the cycle of abuse without questioning your caretaker's decisions, and Naruto's own coping mechanisms prevent him from doing that. The Third Hokage was one of the few people that didn't hate him as a child, so Naruto idolizes him and ignores how he also dumped him in an apartment and left him to fend for himself. If he doesn't acknowledge that this was wrong, how is he supposed to learn that children should be taken care for, that he should spend time with them and go to Himawari's birthday party? His father transformed him into a living WMD when he was a baby, and Naruto is angry at him for awhile until he's convinced that it was for The Greater Good of Konoha and his anger gets repressed again. So, how is he supposed to learn that he should priorize Boruto's life above the village? Not to mention that Naruto always related to others using his own experiences, and his children lived completely different lives than him. Naruto was an orphan and a pariah living with a low income, while Boruto and Himawari had parents and an extrended family, never lacked for anything and had a high social status because their mom is a Hyuuga heiress and their dad is the Hokage and saved humanity, so it's not surprising he has problems relating to his children.

Naruto always reduced Sasuke's actions, feelings and word's down to loneliness and friendship. >Sasuke was lonely because his family was slaughtered>His family was slaughtered because of the village>The village did that because it's corrupt. Naruto almost hand waves those things away to reduce them to simplistic terms, because he can't relate to how important family is to Sasuke. Sometimes the way Naruto talks about the role his family/clan has in Sasukes life is almost like they are a hindrance to Naruto personally. If only they were not in the way then Naruto can have his prize Sasuke, and they can all skip along back to Konoha where Naruto would feel validated by Sasuke.

Lol. The fact that Naruto is equating being an Uchiha with being a Kyyubi tells you everything about how dumb and self-centered Naruto is.

I think the reason why Naruto fans get so passionate and upset about the series is because of how real it can be. Naruto isn’t about paragon heroes outdoing dastardly villains. It’s about human beings fighting tooth and nail to survive in a world surrounded by death. It’s about broken systems made and perpetuated by broken people.
The Hyuga clan isn’t just antagonistic or pretentious, they practice slavery.
The Uchiha clan weren’t just killed by some raging psychopath, they were systematically massacred.
Itachi isn’t just cruel to Sasuke because he’s a bad brother, he’s cruel because he’d been told time and time again that you can only survive by being cruel and he wants nothing more than for Sasuke to survive.
Nagato isn’t trying to take over the world just for the sake of power, he’s trying to take over the world because it beat him down to the point of believing that the only chance at peace there is is the world being forced into compliance through fear.
Iruka isn’t hard on Naruto just because he’s a strict teacher, he’s hard on Naruto because he knows from experience how unforgiving the world is towards orphans.
Kakashi isn’t just some silly and slightly lazy teacher, he’s a contract killer still grieving his loved ones and struggling to do better without knowing how he’s supposed to.
Sakura isn’t just a fangirl, she’s a normal girl in a very dangerous and abnormal world constantly being made to choose between what she’s supposed to do and what she feels.
Sasuke isn’t just some edgelord, he’s a survivor who lost everything then gets repeatedly told that he has to choose between keeping what he’s gained and doing better than his brother.
Naruto isn’t just trying to be the best Hokage there ever was, he’s trying to prove his worth to a society that abandoned him just for existing and, in a way, confirm his worth to himself.
The Naruto story is about humans trying to force themselves into the role of weapons because that’s what they were told they had to be. It’s a story where everyone is a perpetrator but no one is trying to do wrong. It’s a story where everyone is a victim but no one is a perfect victim.
The world and the characters aren’t simple and trying to simplify them only takes away from them. So of course we get passionate about showing off all the reasons why they shouldn’t be simplified and all of the ways they’re complicated. Of course we get upset when we see others simplifying them or selling certain aspects of their characters short. Of course we get upset when the series itself simplifies them. Of course we get upset when the series chooses to abandon them. Because it not only feels like the characters are giving up, it feels like the series is betraying anyone who chose to get invested in its complexities.

aside from the fact that everyone can't figure out the depth of naruto and sasuke's bond, it's genuinely so funny that on the surface, they know just how much those boys influence each other because kakashi openly says that naruto's driving force is sasuke then obito says that naruto was meant to be the pawn to test sasuke. it even came to the point that all you need to do is say their name and the other one would fucking react. orochimaru perfected that tactic and triggered feral naruto. they might not understand that bond but they know how it works on surface level. and they take advantage of it.

people who see sakura’s way of loving sasuke the same way they see naruto’s way of loving sasuke clearly haven’t read the manga.
how can you sit trough dozen of chapters of naruto doing everything he can to keep sasuke alive, constantly worrying about his safety, and being the only one who actually tries to understand him…
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
… and put him on the same level as sakura, who during the entirety of the story never bothered to try to understand sasuke’s motivation because she only cared about her own feelings?? she was literally ready to kill him because she considers him to be a criminal—

You are the Hokage. You see this 5yr old orphan crying. Do you:
A) Give him proper housing, food, enough money to live comfortably and a proper caregiver
B) Teach him how to do his taxes properly (he always gets it wrong!!! so annoying!)
C) Give him 20£ a month and make him rely on the kindness of some random villager (it will be hard to find one who doesn’t hate his guts!). Alternatively, watch him eat spoiled food and 99p pot noodles
Commission me or buy my art on Ko-fi ☕️

anyways lets talk about the actual real problem with boruto aka the massive retcon and plothole that is the heterosexual marriages.
in the original manga its already established that iruka + itachi serve as the platonic foundation of sasunaru: the imperfection of these important bonds highlight the necessity of both boys to each other. iruka tries to accept despite inhumanity and inability to contribute to strength. itachi emphasizes weakness and dehumanizes, but accepts regardless. this is the key significance in the confessions: they make explicit reference to unconditional observation of strength and humanity to each other. these imperfect platonic foundations serve as the lifeline that allows for further "perfect" love to be explored and understood.
so it doesnt make sense that in boruto with 0 explanation whatsoever (this is even accounting for the light novels), sasunaru becomes the "platform" for the relationship for the suddenly more important relationships with the wives. why? if you have an exclusively perfect relationship, youre not gonna look for another. moreover, ideas like "you acknowledged me more than anyone else" and "i cant lose you" and "you alone make me feel less alone" and "only you make my life worth living, only you bring me light" and "you are my prayer and my hope for the future" are randomly attributed to women who were explicitly told the opposite. in those same light novels, sasunaru becomes a relationship exclusively of conflict/desire for space and distance, but in the boruto manga they cant stay away from each other while scorning their wives.
total actual clusterfuck, the character assassination of sasuke and naruto by that point is entirely secondary and becomes borderline understandable when you consider key values and themes are totally abandoned to give way to these couplings.

95% of Sasuke and Naruto's relationship is Naruto trying to impose his will on Sasuke under the guise of 'understanding'' and '’loneliness''.

I am very curious, Naruto. What did your predecessors teach you about what to do after making a mistake? What did they teach you to do after learning your village committed genocide, for example?
