This might seem so stupid at first glance but I hope some people understand my point. I'm very emotional so I hope this sounds half coherent
Aventurine from Honkai Star Rail is so Jewish Israeli to me but it just so happens that god forbid you headcanon any character as Jewish in any fandom or try to explain why your headcanon for the coding makes sense. Let alone "the violent nationality of being Israeli" ugh I'm so mad at everyone. I know this might seem stupid but its just heartbreaking how even mentioning a character could POSSIBLY be Israeli would get to people to harass others.
One time, I saw a post where someone (a pro palestinian) was asking a genuine question if they could headcanon a character as israeli (though I wouldn't be surprised if they wanted to do that from a standpoint of having an irredeemable villain be israeli.)
It was promptly quote retweeted by a person being bewildered and a bunch of other pro Palestinians making jokes about (and I'm not putting words in their mouth) "would it be okay to headcanon a character as a rapist/a nazi/a slave owner?" and I just want to throw up. This doesn't happen with ANY other nationality. How is Israel the ONLY nation that if you're from there, or hell if a CHARACTER is from there, you're assumed to be a disgusting person? Seriously, do you get people harassing you in the comments for putting on ANY other flag on a fictional character?
The person who made the original post apologized profusely and was met with comments saying it's "too late" and "what they asked was unforgiveable". Give me a fucking break. These people are just cannibalizing themselves.
Ugh whatever the goyim cannot stop me Aventurine is very Jewish Israeli and guess what? That's a great thing and a headcanon that makes a lot of sense

When I was last on tumblr, it was ten years ago and one of the biggest faux pas you could commit was incorrect tagging.
It was Literally Colonialism to use a tag that was For Certain Oppressed Groups. The actually-autistic tag was created because allistics "took over" the autism tag, and this/other tags became heavily policed by users to make sure they remained a "safe space".
I remember seeing countless posts about how autistics would never be safe if we didn't have a bubble to protect us from interacting with allistics. The same went for tags about transliness and queerness. The going approach used militarized and hyperbolic language to characterize and other folks who weren't in the community: autistics (the group I had the most direct experience with) were attacked by allistic invaders who violated and conquered autistic tagging systems.
The "Literally Colonialism" isn't a joke. I saw plenty of suggestions that to even use a tag which was perceived as being "not yours" was colonization of ideas and thoughts. To be allistic, have an opinion on autism, and tag it as "autism" was held up as being exactly the same as the behavior of empires and nation-states.
Obviously, I don't entirely agree, and don't think this particular hyperbolization is helpful for advocacy or for dialogue. But I do find it interesting how, in the decade since I was last here, it seems to (mostly) still be true that you should only use certain tags if you have a particular identity...
... unless you're not Jewish, in which case feel free to use any and all Judaism-related tags and break the system's meager functionality for Jewish people.
As someone who is using Tumblr to connect to online Judaism, it's daunting to see how many posts under "judaism" are by non-Jews screeching about Israel. Seeing non-Jews openly talk about they tag their posts with gore, rape denial, Holocaust denial, October 7 denial, and other deliberately-triggering material with Jewish-themed tags specifically to make Jewish users of Tumblr feel unsafe. Reading them telling each other about how this is advocacy, this will absolutely win the war for Gazans, and how anybody who blocks them (in order to make sure the tags can actually work as intended) is a genocidal coward. Using that self-same militaristic language to describe their activities, only instead of criticizing, they're bragging.
It's, uh, kind of fucked up.
Imagine going to the actually-autistic tag and finding nothing but a wall of allistics claiming that they've victoriously conquered the tag from those inhuman monsters pretending to have problems when other Real People are the ones who are suffering. I think we would all intuitively understand that this would be Wrong. Even if there was some supposed outward justification for being mad at certain autistics, we would understand that holding all autistics everywhere responsible for it is wrong. That breaking a community's ability to talk to each other is wrong. That trying to trigger people and then telling them to commit suicide is wrong.
And we'd also understand, or come to, that the very action of going "This community I'm not part of doesn't deserve to have this tag, I'mma take it back, or at least ruin it so no one else can have it" is an expression of privilege. It is wrong, and it is immature, and it is cowardice.
These smug, self-involved, active attempts at causing harm make no sense at all if seen as advocacy; they help no one, advance no cause, stop no Zionists (whatever that means) from expressing themselves online.
They only make sense when seen as Jew-hate.

I will never forgive goyim for taking the word for the group that was literally all about mass murdering 6 million jews in the most horrific genocide in history that wasn't even 100 year ago, and twisting the meaning to be "evil person that is so fascist and evil they're not human anymore" and then turn around and call Jews that.
the Nazi belief is literally that JEWS ARE SUBHUMAN. Jews literally CANNOT be Nazis unless they genuinely see their people and themselves as subhuman and deserving of death.

"“Military occupation,” he says, “is by definition temporary. The Fire Nation cannot take land, because the world was divided by the spirits, not by the nations. This is Earth Kingdom land, even if the village decided to share it and create a mixed village. The spirits saw fit that this land should belong to the people of Earth, not Fire. So our presence here can only be temporary, as a means of war. Do you understand the problem?”
Sergeant Kichiro is frowning, but he doesn’t seem angry. Zuko takes this as a win.
“You think we’ve set this outpost up as if we’re planning to stay, and you think that’s illegal?”
Zuko nods. “That’s part of your problem. That’s the structural issue.” He lifts a hand. “The other issue is… Sergeant, when one nation occupies the land of another in war, that first nation takes total responsibility for the people on the land that is being occupied.” The sergeant’s eyes grow a little wide. “They are, temporarily, our citizens. Not when it comes to our rights over them, but when it comes to our responsibilities. We are interfering with their ability to be homed, to be fed.”
“Are you being serious?” Sergeant Kichiro asks.
Zuko holds his head high. “If we are unable to take that responsibility, then we have no place in occupying a settled area for a military outpost.” The sergeant’s eyes appear to be unblinking as he watches Zuko. “Do you understand, Sergeant? The fact that the people for whom you are responsible do not think it appropriate to come to me with their complaints is concerning.” " - appalling that you could write this and still side with zionism. please stay educated and apply the empathy you have to the victims of the oct 7 attack to the people of palestine who have suffered and are suffering under israel’s enthusiastic tyranny for decades. you can apply reason to fiction so do it in real life.
You know, I usually don't bother posting antisemitic asks, because the one time I did that just led to a slew of new ones.
But this one really took my breath away with the sheer stupidity of it.
For a start, I've never ID'd as a Zionist or engaged with political discussions here. So either this is based entirely on the fact that I'm Jewish, or based on the fact that I knew a victim of Oct 7th and was upset by it. I'm not sure which is worse, anon.
But the thing that really blew me away is that you read that metaphor, saw a connection with the military occupation of Israel, and didn't think it might be deliberate.
Just... Wow. Either your distaste for Jews is so strong that it affects your cognition, or you're actually that poor at deciphering metaphor, even when you saw the connection itself. Yikes, anon. Whichever it is, I hope it improves for you.

Love enjoying my fandom experience and then seeing ‘boycott the Zionist freaks’.
See this it.
You can’t just say ‘I disagree’ it has to be more personal, more brutal, more ugly. It has to erase and destroy one’s character as a whole. They also don’t listen when we tell them we define what is or isn’t Zionism. It’s ours, not yours.
It’s not intelligent, it’s not well thought out, it’s not an honest critique of anything. If it is, they usually have a fraction of the truth. I still can’t believe people believe Jews controlled the media. If Jews controlled the media, you would have massive coverage of the IDF effort to evacuate people, massive coverage of the aid being driven in and the UN failing to distribute it properly, if Jews controlled the media, there would be a majority of voices calling for Hamas to surrender, calling for the Houthi’s to surrender, Iran would be at the human rights court not Israel. The average person on the street would know Jewish people are an ethnic religious tribe who originated in the middle least 3000 years ago and were kicked out and ethnically cleansed from like everywhere they went for safety.
The speed at which it goes from ‘this is wrong’ to ‘Jews are evil, as good citizens of the world it is our responsibility to destroy everything they are everything they touch, evil Zionist pigs’. Well it’s instant. And it’s shocking.
Do you get it now?

Given a lot of people are playing around the whole "Jews should shut up" card, I need to tell you a little story about why you should be on the watch for antisemitic discourse, whether you are Jew or not, and why also some of you need to start looking at things in their entirety, not just through one specific angle.
(I want to go back to making my dumb little Ségurant posts but this story kept hanging over my head so I just need to get it out of my chest, maybe as a way for people to open their eyes about this)
If you were here some times ago you will recall I made a post about the recent boom of antisemitic behavior, posts and speeches on Tumblr after the attack of the Hamas on Israel (an attack some people claim never existed and was completely made up, just like 9/11, but that's another trash pile to get rid of later). My post wasn't even about the Israel-Hamas situation, but about simply "Wow, there's a LOT of antisemitism on this website, and many people use the Israel-Palestine situation as an excuse to say the dumbest shit". Which is no surprise because Tumblr always had a massive trend towards the worst side of what, using the French political spectrum, I'd refer to as "the left" - and one of the worst of the extreme-left is of course antisemitism (which is precisely what proves that extreme-left and extreme-right are basically the same thing, but that's yet again another subject)
So I made this post pointing out "Wow, there's a lot of antisemitism here". And it got quite popular - of course because of all the current events, etc, etc... And somebody came to me directly to react to my post. And this person said, basically, "You know, it is not because you had some negative experiences about yourself that you should blow things out of proportions. It is not because you dislike what you see people write about your kind that it means there's antisemitism on this website. Stop making a mountain out of a mouse."
Which is when I realized I got the person in blatant antisemitic behavior. Because there's one easy trick to get antisemitic people, and that you don't even need to "activate" consciously - let them believe you're Jewish, or let them assume you are Jewish, and see what they say. Because surprise surprise... I'm not Jewish. I just happened to see a lot of antisemitic stuff, and say I was really shocked by this. And this random person came in and assumed I was Jew... Aka they played the archetype of "The Whiney Jew". Because I complained about antisemitism, they assumed I must be Jew because in their mind only Jewish people will complain about antisemitism, because all-non Jewish MUST certainly see the "truth" of how Jewish folks are just self-victimizing. (And down this line, the person did not say this, but I know some who did, we get down the path of stuff such as "Oh yeah, the holocaust did not exist, everybody knows the Jews made it all up").
Anyway this person thought I was Jewish, and so tried to gaslight me. By assuming I had some personal antisemitic attacks, and by making me believe I was projecting my personal experience onto a whole website, and that I was just victimizing myself. Having been gaslit for a very long time on other subjects, I immediately recognized the move - and it was even easier to see what they were doing since I never had any personal antisemitic experience in my life since I am NOT JEWISH.
I easily cut off their deal by pointing out I was not Jewish. And what the person did (I later learned they were very into Orthodox Christianity, even making their whole blog about it) was what we in French call "noyer le poisson" - drown the fish. Take a side-subject or a detail in my speech, and make the discussion all about it to try to smother the thing that made them look bad. In this case they accused me of lying about not being into devil-worship (because if you notice I have a Black Butler icon, and a Goya painting on my blog). For them it was proof that I was either a "witch" or into "devil-worship" and when I said no they insisted I was lying... But if I had defended myself about this, it would have completely derailed the conversation and THAT is what they wanted. Because they wanted me to stop talking about how, when they believed I was Jew, they tried to gaslight me into believing the antisemitic boom of Tumblr was all in my head.
I did not gave them this pleasure. But this little story of me and this person actually completely encapsulates so many other interactions I had or posts I saw or discussions I "heard" on this website. People who just come in to either try to pretend antisemitism does not exist, either start changing the topic of a talk every time antisemitism is brought up.
Everybody knows that the antisemitic depiction of the Jew is the "greedy, hooked-nose, manipulator who secretly controls the media and politics", right? But everybody seems to forget that there are many, many vicious and vile caricatures of Jewish people made by the hydra of antisemitism, an hydra that keeps changing head depending on the era, the country or the political leaning. And so there are many, even contradictory, antisemitic depictions of the Jews. The "whiney, complaining, victimizing" Jew is another antisemitic cliche that people claiming things such as "The Holocaust did not happen" or "The attack of Hamas did not happen" are gleefully using.
I already was disgusted by what I had seen on Tumblr before (I even considered quitting the website) - but having this person try to target me simply woke up by natural bitterness and misanthropy and desire to burn down all those nasty perverse brutes. So this is why I will be very active and vocal about every time I see antisemitic behavior.
So again, if you have antisemitic beliefs, please get the fuck off my blog. If you believe Jewish people have no right being in your country - whatever country it is - go fuck yourself and leave. If you support the Hamas while turning a blind eye to their openly antisemitic and genocidal agenda, go fuck yourself. If you support the Hamas while KNOWING their openly antisemitic and genocidal agenda, I won't say what I think should happen to you. If you support those dangerous organizations that want to "Give back France to French people" - and thus hunt down anyone that is not a White Catholic, go fuck yourself. If you are one of those neo-Nazis who think the Holocaust should continue, go fuck yourself. If you are one of those negationists who claim the Holocaust never happened, go fuck yourself. If you are one of those extreme-leftists who believe the Jews are like the Asians an "elite" or one of the "privileged" minorities, so priviliged they do not deserve to be ranked among other victims of oppression, go fuck yourself.
And you see how long and varied this "go fuck yourself" list is? That's the point I want to make. Antisemitism isn't about "Good people against antisemitism" versus "Antisemitic people". It is about "We have to face tons of various forms and types of antisemitism coming from all sides at once". Antisemitism lies in the extremes, but in the extremes of what? Of everything. Of Christianity, of Islam, of the left, of the right, of many nationalisms... A few years ago, "Everybody wants to kill the Jews" was a comedy-line, a joke referencing the historical persecution of the Jewish people - but now? Now that's literaly the news. It is happening on social media, in Europe, in America, in the Arabian world. And even though I'm not Jew I can't even escape it myself - it is everywhere on the news, be it TV or newspaper ; it is everywhere on the Internet (I do not even check the tags that could bring out the most antisemitic part of this website because I am not ready to quit Tumblr yet) ; it is even IN THE GRAFFITIES INSIDE THE TOILETS OF MY UNIVERSITY! I can't take a fucking piss without having antisemitic words pop up, written with scissors or markers on the wooden door of the toilets...

I don't think most of you realize the mental and emotional bandwidth it takes for the average Jew to go on social media and decide if the people you follow who are posting falsehoods and borderline blood libel are stupid, naive, or just plain evil. I'm hovering around "two strikes and you're out" at this point.

Every Antisemitism callout post is like:
Some facts about antisemitism in general and/or antisemitic incidents
Explaining why it's bad
The notes:
Jewish people sharing in relief they're not being gaslit for a change
A few decent Goys are surprised antisemitism is still a thing
Someone fully misinterpreting the post and being mad about it
A Goy going 'so true bestie! Antisemitism IS horrible it's just the Zionists who destroy and control and genocide. Important to not get confused :)'
From The River To The Sea spamming
A nazi. Fully mask off and self identified as such, chilling there shouting slurs

Did we really just spend the last few months seeing people scream about bloodthirsty Jews Zionists who crave mass murder and genocide and steal Palestinian babies and eat the skins of corpses which they also steal?
Because now I see every single Jewish person I know on Tumblr spending all day begging people not to kill themselves while the pro-Palis are drawing fanart of self-immolation.
Do you want death cults? Because that's how you get death cults.

Well, I came online after the festive period and have seen where the tides are on Tumblr about the massacres in Israel, so...
I will keep this page open for fanart/"new chapter" posts only and won't be engaging otherwise. I will only post asks if they are fanart (I can respond to questions about fics on ao3).
Private messaging will stay open, but if we are not friends who would otherwise talk about things like this, then please do not send me anything about Israel, Zionism, or antisemitism. I will not respond and I will block you.
אבל ישראלים, זה בסדר, אנחנו יכולים לדבר על ישראל. אני רק לא רוצה לשמוע מאף אחד אחר. אני מקווה שאתה בטוח. הלב שלי שבור.
