Imagine Camilo getting jealous when you start spending time with his family because you’re his best friend and he likes having you to himself...while having no idea you’re only doing it because you like him too.
Tumblr media
When your house had a fire The Madrigals were the first to offer to help. Party because they were the leaders of your town but also because you and Camilo were best friends. When you need a place to stay while your parents sorted everything out the Madrigals didn’t hesitate and so you temporarily moved into the famous Casita.
Camilo didn't like this for two reasons. 1. Being a part of a big family and a middle child it was hard to feel special but with you he felt like the most wonderful person in the world. You were so kind and positive, it always made him smile and he didn’t really want to share that with anyone else, he’d grown protective of you. 2. He had a pretty big crush on you which he was sure his family would sniff out the second they saw you together.
For these two reasons you never really hung out at Camilo’s, he’d always come to you instead but you were his best friend. When he heard the situation he didn’t even contemplate telling you no. He sorted it all with his family and helped you move in.
The Madrigals were very curious about you, they’d of course met you but they hadn’t been around you a lot so they were excited. So of course the second you sat down at the dinner table they all started grilling you, to find out more about you. Before promptly moving on to the more practical stuff. “Now we have one more thing to discuss” Abuela said “y/n’s accommodation”. Camilo paused “her accommodation? This is it!” he said gesturing to casita. Abuela nodded “yes but we haven’t chosen a room for her”. “Well she’ll be staying with me right?” Camilo asked, He thought it was a no-brainer but apparently not. "Y/n can’t stay with you! I know you're close but we don't want to encourage other things" his Abeula said and Camilo frowned "what do you think we do at hers every time I stay over?". His family all paused misinterpreting his meaning and Camilo rushed to explain he meant he stayed over in your every time he went over. "Yes well Isabela's room is big enough for two so y/n will stay with her. Your room is far too small" Abuela said dismissively and Camilo knew there was no arguing with her now. Camilo turned and looked at Isabela worried. His cousin could be horrible at the best of times, he was worried she'd be cruel to you. He tried to catch her eye but Isabela barely glanced at him and after dinner she rushed off with you before Camilo could say anything.
Your POV  You’d just finished the best meal of your life when Camilo’s cousin turned to you “so want me to show you to my room?”. You nodded “yes please” and Isabela led the way upstairs. "You don't have hay fever do you?" she asked turning to you. You shook your head "nope! I also have a really weak sense of smell". Isabela nodded "that's handy" and she pushed open her door. "Woah!" you cried "your room is beautiful". "Really?" she asked "I figured pink and flowers weren’t really your thing considering you’re constantly in dark colours". You smiled "hey I know I'm pretty monotone but I do love pink! It just doesn’t suit me as it does you. Regardless your room is lovely and the flowers...wow. do you have a favourite?". The easiest way to get into Isabela’s good book was to talk about flowers with her. Isabela nodded "It used to be roses but recently I've really been enjoying lillies". "Wow all good choices" you smiled and Isabela looked at you "what's your favourite?". You laughed "it sounds stupid but I really like cacti". Isabela laughed and you nodded "I know right! Crazy". "No I...come on” she said tugging you towards her window at the far side of the room. She threw back her curtains and smiled “ta-dah!”. On her window sill were a ton of baby cacti all potted neatly. "You have a whole cacti nursery!" you cried excited and Isabela smiled, pleased you got as excited as her over cacti. "I've only just started growing them but I'm still working out how to make them flower". You nodded "yeah cacti can be stubborn bastards, I was reading something about that the other day let me see if I can find it" and you dug into your boxes (that Luisa had very kindly brought up) to find a book. "I've read a lot of books on plants so I'm not sure if you'll have anything..." Isabela said frowning. "Ow it's not a book just my grandmother’s gardening notes, she was a great herbologist....here it is!". You read the passage before passing it to Isabela "have you tried altering the sodium levels in the soil?". Isabela flicked through the passage and shook her head "no I haven’t...and she’s given 3 other suggestions I’ve never even heard of, how did she learn all of this?". You shrugged "apparently it was her passion once all her kids were older and she was really good at it. One of those cases where she got into it late in life but still aced it. It's kind of reassuring knowing you don’t have to be perfect from a young age, you can always discover something new later". Isabela nodded "yeah that's a nice thought...can I borrow this? I want to see what else she worked out". You nodded "of course! I'm nowhere near as good as my grandmother but I do like gardening so if you want any help just let me know". Isabela smiled "I might take you up on that". She was beginning to like the sound of her new roommate.
The next morning   Camilo had hardly got any sleep last night and he waited anxiously for you at the top of the staircase. He hadn't heard any yelling from Isabela's room and Dolores said you’d been up talking till late but sounded happy. Camilo was nervous though and so he waited to see if you needed saving, he could always beg Mirabel or Dolores to share with you if his Abuela insisted on this stupid no sharing a room rule. Camilo was debating how to challenge her when Isabela's door opened and laughter escaped. Camilo frowned to see Isabela was the one beaming. You were telling a story that was apparently very amusing. "Morning Camilo" Isabela said when she saw him and you smiled "hey Camilo". "Hey...so how was being roommates?". "Great actually!" Isabela smiled "if only I could've had a sister like y/n, I've asked her to trade with Mirabel but she said no". "Because Mirabel is great and you know you love her really" you replied before spotting Camilo’s expression "are you okay?". He nodded "yeah I just remembered I left something in my room so I'll meet you downstairs". You both nodded and walked away leaving Camilo stunned. What on earth was going on? The bonding only continued. You and Camilo hung out all morning but come the afternoon he had chores so you stayed in the living room and did some school work. You were trying to solve a math equation when you heard the door go and Dolores rushed to get it. From the way she was laughing and how high her voice went you figured it was her boyfriend Mariano and he soon appeared proving you right. He said hello to you and you smiled back pleased Camilo’s sister was so happy however it wasn't meant to last. Pepa appeared not long after and told Dolores Mariano would have to go soon as she had to babysit Antonio. Apparently everyone would be out soon and Dolores was the only one free. Dolores tried arguing but Pepa wouldn’t budge and so Dolores sent Mariano away looking very sad. You noticed this and waited for Pepa to leave before going over. "Dolores can I speak to you for a moment?". She nodded "sure I'm stuck here after all". "I think I can help with that...see I'm planning on staying in all afternoon so what if I babysit Antonio for you?". Dolores paused "aww y/n I can’t ask you to do that! My mother would flip if she knew".'" I won't tell if you won’t" you smiled "I really don’t mind! I’ll be here anywhere so it seems cruel to make you miss out on a date with Mariano. I mean how often do you get time to just be with him?". Dolores nodded "good point...you're sure you don’t mind?". "Not a bit" you smiled "go, we'll be fine". Dolores grinned "thank you y/n you’re the best" and she hugged you before rushing out the door.
Camilo’s POV Camilo's day had been pretty good. He’d got his chores done early and so was making his way back home in a great mood. On his way he passed Dolores who told him "your best friend is amazing". Camilo of course knew this but wasn’t aware Dolores had such strong feelings for you. However before he could ask her what happened she’d passed him and so Camilo just carried on home.
Camilo heard laughter as soon as he walked inside and he followed the noises upstairs. Camilo walked into his brother's room to find you dressed as a cheetah. Atleast that's what he thought the dots on your face were supposed to be. It was actually very very cute. You appeared to be playing some animal version of hide and seek and were “hunting” Antonio when you spotted him.  "Camilo!" you said jumping and you blushed "hi". "Nice tail" he smiled "so I'm guessing you got stuck babysitting and Antonio wanted to play rainforest?". You nodded "yup but it was actually quite fun! Antonio's room is awesome". Camilo nodded "I get lost every time I come here". You went to reply when a mini cheetah (Antonio) leapt at you "I found you!" he cried and you laughed cushioning him as you fell so he didn’t get hurt. "I was meant to be stalking you remember!". "Yeah but you got distracted by Camilo" he said giving his brother a pointed look as if Camilo was disturbing a very important meeting or something. You smirked looking to Camilo "you're right Camilo did distract me! How rude of him". "Hey I just came to see if you were okay". "Well we are, so go!" Antonio cried "I was to play with y/n and you always get to play with her". You smiled "that is true Camilo" still going along with this. "Well what if I joined in?" Camilo asked. Antonio shook his head "no y/n is better than you, you're too loud". You snorted at the look on Camilo’s face but soon stepped in. "How about we let him play to be nice? I can teach Camilo to do better". Antonio sighed "fine but he’s on your team" and he rushed away. "Teams?" Camilo asked "so who's on Antonio's side?". "The leopard" you replied "so you better do better this time" and with a smile you dragged Camilo off into the rainforest. Camilo could honestly say that was the most fun game of rainforest he’d ever played and his brother seemed to agree. He practically had to drag Antonio away from you and promised you’d all play again soon. You had a big smile on your face and Camilo shook his head "I think he likes you more than me". You laughed "no I'm just the fun friend who’s visiting. He definitely loves his cool older brother the most". Camilo blushed remembering how you always made him feel like this and he smiled "well regardless one thing is for sure". "Ow yeah and what's that?" you asked. "We make adorable cheetahs" Camilo replied wiping a dot on your cheek and you burst out laughing making him smile even more. Your POV
After living with the Madrigals you began to notice some things...like how Luisa did a LOT. Of course all the Madrigals pitched in when their gift would be useful but a gift like super-strength was pretty in-demand and so Luisa was called on a lot. While you were just waking up she was already downstairs, scoffing down a quick breakfast and getting on with her chores. While you were taking a shower and getting ready she’d already been into town and solved a few crises’. When you and Camilo walked through town you heard countless people calling for her or asking Abuela if Luisa could help them tomorrow. You began to feel bad at how overworked Luisa was so you decided to try and help her by taking atleast one thing off her list.
Every day the donkey man would lose his flock. You’d have thought after many repeats of this he’d have learnt to keep a closer eye on them or just get a more secure field but no, it was easier to rely on Luisa so he didn’t. You thought it would be nice if Luisa didn’t have to do this one thing every day, maybe she could use the twenty minutes to relax, read a book or even just sit down and have a meal. So you began watching the donkeys to learn their routine and you spotted something interesting.
Luisa’s POV
Luisa was on a roll. She’d helped rebuild the school, moved some trees around and had done all her family chores and it was only 2 o’clock! If she kept it up she might be able to get some light exercise in before dinner but she was getting too excited. She had to just keep making her way through her tasks and not get ahead of herself. Sometimes the same task could take considerably longer depending on the day so she’d learnt not to get too pumped about any possible free time she might have. So Luisa put a break to the edge of her mind and made her way towards the donkey fields. They shouldn’t have wandered too far so if she could just catch them as quickly as possible...when she froze.
Down the mountain pass was a line of donkeys but they weren’t going away from the farm but towards it. Luisa frowned, utterly confused before she saw a figure at the front. It was you and the donkeys were all following you. Luisa watched as you led them all back to the farm before closing the latch firmly. Luisa ran up to you very confused. "How did you do that?" she asked and you jumped "Ow hey Luisa! I thought I’d try and pitch in with the chores and noticed you do this every day so wanted to see if I could help”. Luisa smiled “that’s so kind of you but seriously how did you get them all to just follow you like that”. You smiled “with these!” and you pulled some carrots out of your bag. “I started watching the donkeys and I noticed something, they really like carrots! Every morning they’d see Mr Hernandez drive by with his produce with the carrots on the very top of the pile. They really like them so they follow him but get lost because their attention spans aren’t that great and then you’d find them and the same thing would happen the next day but it doesn’t have to be this way! If we get Hernandez to choose a different route or just keep them on the stables until he’s passed it should solve the problem...or we could just make the lock more secure". Luisa paused "I...yeah they all sound good. Which one is best?". You shrugged "well a secure pen means they'll never get out if anything else distracts them so I'd vote that one". Luisa nodded "okay secure the pen...well I could carry large stones and put them around d it or dig a moat". "Or we could just put actual locks on the door?" you asked "with this one all they need to do is nudge it and it opens". Luisa nodded "locks, locks are good". You smiled "great, okay I'll go grab some in town and get them fitted". Luisa frowned “do you need any help?”. You shook your head “no i’ll be right back! You just sit here, enjoy the sun and make sure they don’t get back out”.
Luisa nodded “just sit here and enjoy the sun” she repeated to herself “that should be easy enough...right?
When you got back ten minutes later you found Luisa re-arranging the pen so all the water tanks were in the shade. “Luisa!” you cried “I told you to relax”. She froze and dropped the tank suddenly making the donkeys jump. “Sorry!” she apologised to them “I tried relaxing I did, i’m just not good at it! I don’t get what I’m supposed to do”. You smiled “here i’ll show you” and led her to a nice shade part of the field. You brought a chair and eased her into it. You lifted up her feet and got her some water and a random book you found. “Here” you said and Luisa took it from you “okay now what? What should I do to relax?”. You smiled “you’re already doing it!”. “I am?” she asked surprised and you laughed “yep and on your first try too! You’re a natural”. Luisa paused “so I just get to sit here and read?”. You nodded “or nap, or sing, or eat whatever you’d like to do”. Luisa paused “hmm it might be nice to close my eyes and enjoy the sun for a bit. I hurt my back the other week and this feels nice”. You smiled “then go right ahead! I’ll get the lock fitted and let you know when it’s done. Until then you just sit here”. Luisa nodded “okay” and closed her eyes.
That night you and Luisa came home together and she would not stop singing your praises. You brushed off the compliments but all of his siblings and cousins agreed, joining in. Except for one of them.
Mirabel Despite being the same age Camilo and Mirabel weren’t that close. They used to be when they were kids but after Mirabel’s ceremony there had been a divide between them. It wasn’t a purposeful divide but one that existed all the same. It’d gotten worse as they got into their teen years and at school they barely interacted. So when Camilo and you set off to watch a school football match one afternoon he didn’t even think to ask Mirabel who was sitting quietly reading. You however did "hey isn’t Mirabel coming? Our whole class will be there". "Ow I’m not sure..." Camilo answered honestly and you smiled "well why don’t we ask her?" and before Camilo could protest you’d walked over. Camilo had been looking forward to some quality alone time with you at the football match but it was too late now. He saw as you charmed Mirabel and she asked anxiously if you were sure. She looked over to Camilo to check and he couldn’t let her down so he nodded giving her the thumbs up. Mirabel smiled and agreed, you returned arm in arm with her and took Camilo’s other arm "she said yes so now I get two wonderful Madrigals!". Both Mirabel and Camilo blushed but you didn’t notice. You were already leading them out the door.
You had a pleasant walk down to the football pitch and got some good seats not too close but not too far away. You had been a hit with all the Madrigals so far and Mirabel was no exception. Camilo watched as you chatted to Mirabel as if you were old friends and she was soon laughing and grinning widely...a little too widely. Camilo had seen Mirabel like this before and it was always around pretty girls she liked. Now Camilo thought you were very pretty so he was keenly watching the two of you and thought Mirabel was acting more and more suspicious until suddenly she did it! Her go-to flirt which was to compliment the girl while twirling her hair. Camilo completely understood Mirabel’s infatuation with you but he wasn’t going to lose you. Game on cousin he thought and began competing for your attention.
“Hey y/n remember that time a few weeks ago when that dog ran onto the pitch and scored a goal?” Camilo called. You immediately turned to him with a big smile on your face. “Yeah that was the best match of the season!”. Mirabel grinned “I bet! What kind of dog was it?”. “Ahh you just had to be there” Camilo replied before you could respond and Mirabel frowned “what?”. “We also got those nachos that night, remember y/n?”. You nodded “yeah they were really good! I hope they’re here tonight”. “Ow you like nachos? I make the best nachos! My mom taught me the recipe and it’s amazing” Mirabel smiled. You turned to her excited “no way! You so have to teach me that recipe or you know just make it for me sometimes” you joked and Camilo almost gasped when you winked at her. “Hey Mirabel remember that time you gave everyone food poisoning because you forgot to cook the chicken properly?”. Mirabel paused and her smile dropped “that was like two years ago!”. “Yeah but remember how funny it was?” Camilo asked “the vomiting and the way your mom didn’t let you near the kitchen for months afterwards? Good times”. Mirabel frowned “well remember the time you pulled a prank on my dad and broke his leg?”. “What!” you cried spinning to Camilo who blushed “it wasn’t that bad...”. “It was in a cast for months!” Mirabel cried and you frowned “what happened?”. “It was an accident” Camilo tried but Mirabel cut him off “so my dad was coming upstairs when Camilo gets the idea to scare him. He hid and when my dad reached the top he transformed into a huge Abuela and yelled “”Agustin!””. Of course my dad screams and fell right down the stairs”. You winced “ouch that must’ve hurt”. Mirabel nodded “it did, even my mom couldn’t heal him fully. This happened only last year, didn’t Camilo tell you?”. Camilo glared “why didn’t you tell Y/n about the great food poisoning incident before offering her food?” Camilo shot back. Mirabel shook her head “so what anytime we discuss food I have to bring up that once I didn’t cook something properly? What kind of logic is that?”. “Good logic!” Camilo replied and Mirabel raised an eyebrow “are you sure?”.
"Okay!” you said suddenly standing up “I’m gonna go grab another drink, does anyone want anything?” you asked. Camilo and Mirabel answered at the same time “no!” before they realised and glared at one another. You stood up “okay, I'll be back in a sec” and you disappeared. The two Madrigals watched you walk away, big smiles until you disappeared. "What are you doing?" Mirabel asked turning to Camilo who raised an eyebrow "me? I’m not the one who hasn’t taken their eyes off y/n for the past hour". Mirabel blushed "I have no idea what you mean". "You like her!" Camilo cried and Mirabel went even redder "well I...y/n’s pretty amazing okay! Why did you never set the two of us? Way to hold out on a cousin". "Because I want y/n to be just my friend, nobody else’s" Camilo said before he could help it "I don’t want her dating someone else or hanging out with my family I want her all to myself and I know that's selfish but I..." when he realised Mirabel was laughing "what's so funny?". Mirabel smirked "we must have a genetic vulnerability to y/n because you’re doing the same thing as me! You like y/n too!" Camilo blushed "I...she’s my best friend". "Yeah who you want all to yourself all the time...that's just a bit too friendly Camilo". "Shut up" Camilo blushed as Mirabel laughed more "no wonder you were so mad at me flirting with her! How didn’t I see this before? You’re practically in love with her! Well don’t worry I'll bow out but you definitely owe me" Mirabel said and with a last laugh she left the game leaving the two of you alone like Camilo always planned but now he was a lot more nervous.
Of course the second the words left Mirabel’s mouth he knew they were true. The way he felt around you, how he couldn’t help but smile when he saw you, his desire to keep you totally for himself all pointed to the same thing, he’d just ignored it for so long because he was scared. What if you didn’t like him? Camilo was jolted out of his thoughts as you appeared "hey, where did Mirabel go?". "Ow she remembered she was supposed to do something important for Abuela so she rushed home". You frowned "aww that’s a shame" and Camilo couldn’t help but feel a little jealous. "Yeah guess you're stuck with me" he said smiling but you picked up on his tone and knew it wasn’t a joke. "I'm never stuck with you Camilo, you're my best friend. Why wouldn’t I want to spend time with you?". Camilo shrugged "just ignore me sorry I've just been...feeling a little insecure this week that’s all". You frowned and scooched closer "do you want to talk about? The thing that’s making you feel insecure?". Camilo paused and before he could help it he was blurting it out "I like you". As soon as the words left his mouth Camilo was horrified and his eyes widened in terror “I have to go!” he declared.
He just ran for it. Panic seized him and he chose the flight response. However you weren’t letting him off that easily. You followed him and quickly caught up to him “Camilo! You can just take off after saying something like that”. Camilo sighed “I know i’m sorry...I just really didn’t want to do this”. “Do what?” you asked and he sighed “this, wondering what you’re gonna say...it honestly more nervewracking than my gift ceremony”. You frowned “well I’m sorry you feel so stressed but you know you can tell me anything and you don’t have to be scared of my reaction right? I’ll always be here for you Camilo, nothing can ruin our friendship”.
That one word told Camilo all he needed to know. You just wanted to be friends. He tried not to let the disappointment show on his face and nodded “thanks y/n...that’s reassuring”. You could tell he was still upset so you carried on quickly. “Now can you expand on what you said earlier because I like you too Camilo and if you meant it in the way I’m hoping you did then I’d love to date you”. Camilo started “pardon?”. You chuckled “I like you Camilo Madrigal and have for a while, was it really not obvious? Why do you think I was trying so hard with your family? I wanted them to like me! I know how close you are with them so I figured if they didn’t like me that would blow any chance I had with you”. Camilo laughed at the irony “this whole week I’ve been stressed because I thought you liked my family better than me”. You smiled “really? When the whole time I was doing it precisely because I like you”. Camilo blushed “wow I’m an idiot”. “No you’re not” you said taking his hand “I didn’t realise how you felt or that I’d been leaving you out. I’m sorry”. Camilo shook his head “it’s not your fault, I was being overprotective and sensitive...you really like me?”. You laughed “of course I do! Now how about we ditch this sports thing and go hang out just the two of us? No other family members in sight”. Camilo blushed “that sounds perfect” and he offered you his arm. Together you walked away into the bright afternoon.

Hello, are you still accepting applications? If you keep accepting, you can do one in which the Madrigal x reader family, who is the daughter of Pepa or Juliet, goes to Nevermore Academy.
(I'm going to make these headcanons, but a little more storyish. Also this is going to be platonic.)
Platonic! Yandere Madrigal family with Pepa's daughter being a student of nevermore academy
Tumblr media
(I'm sorry, I wasn't sure how to word the title lmao.)
Tw: Platonic yandere, platonic yandere family, stalking?, Unhealthy obsession, yandere themes.
You never really saw the point of going to Nevermore, you were never seen as a outcast to others, more of a blessing. But that's not how your mother and father and the rest of the family saw it.
You always felt you were out of place at the school, even though it was meant for outcasts. But you weren't one of these people, you weren't a outcast at all. It actually hurt you a little when your family decided to send you here.
You were the only one in the entire family who went here, why? Did your family just not care about you?
Oh but they did care, but just not in a way that you would see. They also protected you without you even knowing, they sent your own brother, Camilo everyday to shapeshift into a student and keep a close gaze on you.
Camilo would tell them what he saw, making sure to tell them of any possible threats that could of harmed you.
You were safe under their watch without even knowing it, and they wanted it to stay that way...

Forever
Yandere Madrigal family x reader
Tumblr media
Your eyes slowly started open, then you saw the whole Madrigal family, before you. "Wait w-what's-" "no need to worry Amor" Julieta cut you off. "B-but-" then you had once again been cut off but, by Isabela this time. "No but's darling you're are ours now" you then asked " what if someone comes to finds me?" "we'll deal with that when that happens mi Vida" Camilo replied. You started to struggle a bit until you realized the restraints were too tight. "It's no use doll, you can't leave us" Dolores stated possessively. You gulped in fear, scared of what they were going to do.
Once they left the room you decided to escape, reaching to your back pocket, pulling out your pocket knife. And then, just barley being able to cut through the ropes. Once you hacked your way through the ropes, you opened the window attempting to climb out but saw the height.
You swallowed all your fear and then jumped, pain shot through your legs. But, you ignored it. You heard the distance calls of the Madrigal family follow, it only made you run faster. But you, tripped and then sprained your ankle. You tried to drag yourself away but, had gotten picked up by strong arms, being Luisa's.
"Look at you, you hurt yourself. You need to be more careful!" Luisa scolded you, she then quickly brang you back to the family. Everyone then quickly hugged you, Julieta then gave you some of her food. Making your ankle heal, Luisa then put you down. Suddenly you felt tired and a bit drowsy, you then fell to the ground, your world fading to black. The Madrigal family only smiling. You were theirs now, forever

i just rewatched encanto, and i can't stop thinking about a world where bruno had himself a lil gf/wife, and she was the only one who didn't think his gift was evil. and they had kids (maybe like twins or sum), and when he disappeared, she stayed in la casita, and everyone kinda pittied her. and la familia was like, "bruno really didn't love his family. especially if he abandoned her" or some shit. and like, he left right as his kids were getting their gifts, but like, watched it through the walls or something. or he left after they got them. but then his wife is just so sad cause he left, and she has no idea where he is (she lowkey thinks he's dead but doesn't wanna come to that sort of realization). and when mirabel asks her about bruno, she's just kinda like "tu tio bruna was the kindest person i ever met. and his gift was truly a gift... no one else could see that." and then mirabel is like,"But 'we dont talk about bruno'.' El Castillo de Encanto: Que Tú Eres Mi Destino
The Castle of the Enchantment: That You Are My Destiny
Each new gift given by the miraculous candle was meant to strengthen the community, strengthen the El Castillo de Encanto. To make the royal Madrigal family proud.
You work as a personal servant within the Royal Madrigal's family castle, but after the fall of the Castillo and rebirth of the miracle, your work plans change. Time to make the missing triplet feel at home once again.
The dictionary of my spanglish and bad timeline: - El Castillo de Encanto the casita in this version. - Reader is technically 22 years old. - I'm using a mix of a magical democratic monarchy and traditional Spanish, Colombian, and a dash of Downton Abbey
Chapter ambience: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLWbKf4YcAA
Fifty years ago, a newly widowed mother received a miracle. Pushed out of her home after the birth of her three children by the violent conflict of the Colombian civil war, she and her husband were forced to flee in hopes of finding a new home. Even as many joined them, they could not escape the dangers of warfare. The wife watched as her newly fathered husband was lost to the violence of war. But, even in their darkest moment, Alma Madrigal was given a miracle.
The candle she held became a magical flame that could never go out, and glowed brightly in that dark night. It blessed Alma Madrigal with a refuge in which to live. The magic made towering green, protective mountains over her and her people. It was a place of wonder, an enchantment. The miracle grew, creating a castle for her and her family to live in, El Castillo de Encanto. Their house, the castle itself, came alive to shelter them.
When her children came of age, the miracle blessed them with magic too. Passing down to them a magical gift to match the magical candle Queen Alma Madrigal was bestowed. And when their children came of age, that magic was passed through each generation. Together, the royal family's gifts have made the Encanto, truly, a paradise.
Each new gift given by the miraculous candle was meant to strengthen the community, strengthen the El Castillo de Encanto. To make the royal Madrigal family proud.
Each gift given to the Madrigal’s was just as special as they were.
~~~
When you wake up you do so to the sound of a ringing bell, loud and clanging to purposefully alert the women and men around you. You jump up so fast being so startled and smack your forehead on the wooden panel of the bunk above you. With a small hiss and rubbing your forehead, you stumble out of bed, grabbing at the clothes under your bed frame. The woman above you does too. Everyone around is scrambling to get their royal garb on, whispering in excitement.
Today we move back into El Castillo de Encanto! The Castle!
You had to admit how relieved you were. It was so cramped in this temporary arrangement the servants of the Madrigal family found themselves in while the magic was still weak. This was usually where the nuns from the church would stay.
Truly, a humble celibate life they live… You think to yourself as you use a silvery, shiny ribbon to quickly tie your hair into a low ponytail.
Ten years ago, the village of Encanto fretted over the state of the magic blessing when Mirabel Madrigal did not receive a gift like the rest of her family. Not even 24 hours later, one of the royal magical triplets in the second generation known as “Bruno, la maldición del destino” by most of the town, disappeared.
You were only 12 when this all happened, working alongside your parents as an apprentice of servitude. When you were 13, you were working alone without your parents anymore. You weren’t sure why they passed away so young.
You loved your parents. The Columbian political unrest was too much, most nights they could see the smoke billowing from other towns around them being lit aflame. When your mother got pregnant with you they had a hard decision to make, stay with their friends and family and be in their home, or leave to ensure the safety of their future daughter- you. They thought and thought until your mother was incredibly far along in her pregnancy and the smoke got closer and closer, until they could see orange in the village nearby. The flames licked upwards, burning the homes of innocent families. So, with nothing but a bag with a blanket and a mysterious letter that didn’t have a return address with directions, they set out to find the mysterious Encanto.
You still had that letter. You had practically memorized what it had written on it. In shiny golden metallic font, it stated, “The Encanto, home for anyone looking for refuge or a miracle. Follow the butterflies. Climb the forested mountain. It is waiting for you.” They did. Somehow, they told you, they found it. It was almost like being lost and blinking and suddenly realizing where you’re going. They walked by the butterflies they saw. They took the nights in the cover of the jungle forests. They hiked up mountains.
They actually saw the castle, and almost as if it was meant to be, your mother went into labor. You remembered sitting there and listening to this story as a child with wonder coursing through your veins. The magical royal family was alerted to them as newcomers, and they took pity on your mother and father. You were born inside the castle, brought into the world by none other than her Majesty Juileta Madrigal. The Madrigals favored your parents' perseverance and love for you as their daughter. They were personally assigned to be paid and housed as servants of the Madrigal family.
Which, in the Encanto, was a very good job many of the villagers would be envious of.
Your mother became Juileta’s personal servant. Your father, Bruno’s. You would remember how your mom would come back to the servants quarters with a smile on her face and a treat for you. Your father… Typically would come back looking worried and flop on his bed for a minute before winding down and being his usual self.
When you were 5 that was when the apprenticeship started happening. Nothing really like backbreaking work, the servants usually never had to do that. You followed in your parents footsteps and worked to be a personal servant. The Madrigals had servants for everything. Teachers, babysitters, clothes, cooking, training- anything! A passion could easily be followed. Like your mother and father, from a young age you really liked order. You liked cleaning, putting things in place, choosing outfits and hairstyles or decorating rooms to be more cozy.
When Mirabel came of age for her gift, and the ceremony was a disaster as she didn’t even get a gift, your mother and father seemed both distraught. Then, Bruno disappeared. Your father suddenly and immediately declined. He wouldn’t get up for his servant job from his bunk. He only spoke to you and your mother. You couldn’t even think of how many times he whispered “you know I love you, right?” to you and your mother every night. You knew he blamed himself for Bruno disappearing, perhaps. Maybe he thought he should’ve done a better job? You didn’t know. You were too young to know.
Your mother passed first, however. You remember her waking up really early that day and whispering “I love you mi luna” to your dad, kissing his cheek before leaving. You don’t know exactly what happened. You think maybe a stroke. But your mother passed while working, and it was so quick Juileta couldn’t get to her in time to heal her.
When your father heard the news he was devastated. He held you that night. When you woke up to get breakfast you came back to him cold, and lifeless, still in his bunk. You knew he died of a broken heart.
You wished to have a love like your parents. A marriage like them. But ever since they passed you have focused on working and being the most reliable servant in the Castillo. Because of that, at the ripe young age of 13 you were assigned to La Riena Alma’s biggest mess.
Mirabel Madrigal.
Her Queen Alma Madrigal found the gift-less grandchild to be a pain, invisible, not as special as the rest of the magical family. When she saw how hard you worked even at your age and everything that had happened she grew content with making you the girls permanent personal servant.
You didn’t complain.
By then she was 7. And Mirabel was the kindest, funniest, little girl you had ever met. You practically raised her. You studied with her after her educational servant would let her out for the day, you bathed her and made sure her hair was shiny, you cleaned her glasses and taught her how to step on every stone in the Castillo without putting a foot on a crack.
It broke your heart to see how badly Mirabel wanted to help the family even without a magical blessing like her siblings and cousins. You would go into town with her sometimes and watch the villagers practically ignore her. You hated it. But you tried everything in your power to make sure that Mirabel was happy, gift or no gift. She was special to you. A soul sister.
When you turned 18, because of how well you handled Mirabel, her majesty Queen Madrigal named you head of servants. Honored, and feeling privileged, you worked even harder. But despite everything you did it felt like the family tension with Mirabel and the hush hush about “ese desgraciado Bruno diablo” grew more and more.
Until the magic completely failed.
When Isabela Madrigal had a very unsuccessful, chaotic proposal from the village favored Guzman family son, Riena Alma ordered you to take all the servants away to a temporary housing arrangement at the church. She made sure to scream about how the magic is strong and the candle will never burn out.
It did.
The Castillo literally crumbled to the ground. Turned into a pile of rubble with barely known remnants of what was once a glorious castle. Mirabel disappeared. Horrified you spent hours with the Madrigals searching for her in this devastated state. The magic was gone, the blessing was no more, and it would seem only a miracle could fix the internal damage within the familia Madrigal and the hope of the villagers.
Thankfully. She did come back. On horseback, with her Abuela Alma and a figure no one ever expected to return.
Bruno.
Reunited with her family, Mirabel single handedly encouraged the entire Encanto to hope in miracles again. A month of hard work from everyone made the Castillo be rebuilt in the same glory it was before. And when Mirabel added the final touch of a doorknob, the miracle became restored. The bright golden lights and sparkles and swirls of colors that made their way up through the stone of the Castillo and rooted themselves in the ground under the whole village's feet was a sight to only behold in a state of awed wonder.
It was a day of celebration. You took Mirabel’s hands and danced with her in celebration, cheering, saying “I knew you could do it! You are so much more special than you realize!!” The new miracle bestowed another blessing on the land, one that united everyone in communication and a desire to be better and let go of the biases of the past and make a better future.
You blinked rapidly from your thoughts when your bunk mate called for you over her shoulder, “Hey! Líder sin miedo, c’mon! You’re going to be late moving into your ‘elite servant’ room!”
You laugh and sprint towards her and outside of the cramped sleeping quarters, “As long as I get top bunk this time!!!
~~~
Your joke earlier was meant as a joke and when you got to the castle everything went even more smoothly. Luckily, you did not need a bunk mate. Upon uniting with their respective Madrigal family members, each servant was either on the giving or receiving end of a magical hug.
Mirabel threw herself at you and you at her, both of you embracing in a fit of giggles, dancing from side to side in the tight hug. When the girl pulls away she pushes her glasses up her face and smiles at you as if she was still the humble, giftless girl she was before and not the restoration of a miracle.
Her humbleness still made her excitedly help you get settled into your quarters. They were nice. You had a room alone to yourself, with a queen sized bed and your own personal bathroom, bookcase, desk, wardrobe, and drawers. Mirabel didn’t shut up the whole time she helped you get moved in, excitedly talking about the magic and then moving on to the most surprising topic to most of the other servants.
Her tío Bruno.
She excitedly explained to you how he was “weird, but not like, weird weird like more like just kinda nutty weird not like super evil weird.” Which honestly made you chuckle a little.
“So master Bruno is awkward?”
“Yeah!” Mirabel lit up, still talking like a madman, which you loved. You really did like it when someone was excited to talk about something. It was sweet how passionate they would get. And you loved Mirabel, and so each nod and hum you gave in reply to her rambling was entirely genuine.
She explained how short Bruno was. How he lived in the abandoned dungeon and the walls of the Castillo, with his only friends being the rats in there. She even explained his embarrassing habit of using them to make his own little personal plays so he would be entertained all cooped up in there.
You giggled, only drawing on what your father’s experience was with him. He explained Bruno was always well meaning but prone to being really unlucky himself. He always tried to convince you as a young girl that Bruno wasn’t as scary as everyone made him seem.
Standing at 5’3, being 50 years old, and looking so skinny for his age- yup. You believed him and Mirabel well over the village folk and Camilo’s shallow seven foot interpretation of his uncle.
Mirabel went on to explain how much he loved the Encanto, the Madrigal monarchy itself, and each and every one of the family members. How he aided her in seeing the future to help save the miracle. She made sure to put a lot of emphasis on how he seemed to be the only adult she had ever met (“aside from present company, of course,” she made sure to add, winking at you) who treated her with respect. Like he understood her wishes and desires and demands and even if he was scared he knew what was for the best despite the wishes of the f amily to remain “fine”. After her emotional banter about him she got more into his appearance.
By then you were following behind her with your back straight, clasped hands held at your belly button height, resuming the perfect personal servant posture as you did before the collapse. Your tied up hair billowed behind you as you kept a strong, certain stride. You wanted to make sure you kept working that hard and pouring everything you had into this job even if the family seemed more lax. You were the Head of Servitude, after all.
“He has this crazy slouch. You know, like the kind you see little gárgolas standing in. Oh! And he always rings his hands or waves them around- real expressive with them, ya know?” Mirabel walked, talking to you over her shoulder, “He is all gangly like he doesn’t know where to put his limbs sometimes. You know what I mean- like a growing adolescente. He seems to not understand where to place his feet.” Mirabel walked the memorized path to her room, not stopping a moment during all of this, “When the castle was rebuilt he immediately went to bed. He wasn’t awake this morning if you didn’t see- in fact I bet he’s still in bed, durmiendo todo el dia, jeez, what an old man. Well I guess it’s not that big of a deal, he doesn’t really like using his gift anyways.”
When she stopped in front of her door she turned to you, a smile still on her happy little face. You chuckled, and spoke, “What a glowing review for your regio uncle.”
“I know right!” Mirabel giggled and moved her hips and legs so her brightly colored skirt swung back and forth. You stepped up next to her with a soft smile, making her turn towards her bedroom door and reach for the handle, “Now it’s your turn to help me move in!” She gave you a sly smile, knowing you would love this detail, “I need a lot of help decorating.”
Your eyes lit up in happiness, your face not revealing it in its entirety but a small smile did form on your lips.
You grabbed the door knob with her, “What are we waiting for then?!”
Mirabel laughed.
~~
The next week went on with the Madrigal family settling back into the Castillo with as much grace and understanding under the new miracle Mirabel had created. Unfortunately, because Mirabel was the creator of this miracle you found yourself not her personal servant as often anymore. It meant you had to resume the extra duties of head of servitude (which, admittedly, were not as fun as goofing around with Mirabel all day).
You usually wake her up most days. It meant a good morning routine and a great way to start off the day as she would sing while you fixed her hair and tended to her curls. Her eyes would scrunch behind her glasses as you scolded her for being such a “wiggly worm” and “oruga tonta”.
So often her Majesty the Queen Alma Madrigal would come into Mirabel’s room in the morning. You would have to take a step back as your mistress would run up to her abuela and kiss her cheek and ask her how she slept. It was clear that they had repaired their relationship and were eagerly growing it as the days went on.
“Might I borrow the room, miss?” Reina Alma had asked of you on the first morning back in the saddle.
You bowed, “Yes your su Majestad,” You kept your head down in proper etiquette with your hands placed together at your midsection, walking past the queen with kindness.
You were anxious. Mirabel was whisked away more and more by her grandmother, and while you were so excited for her you knew what it meant. Less time with you! What you saw as your little sister was finally growing up and it pained you a little. You didn’t know why. You practically felt like her second mom. You watched her grow from lost in the world to understanding her place.
Perhaps you wished to continue to have that life guidance for her. It gave you a lot of meaning.
When Mirabel was advising her grandmother, you busied yourself with the other tasks demanded of your head of servitude job. That included but was not limited to meal preparations, cleaning, making beds, washing laundry, explaining to Camilo that he has to understand that he cannot go into the female servants quarters even if he was “technically a female servant right now”, and finding meaningless ways to make even more spaces within the Castillo aesthetically appealing.
There were a few times in that week you would reorganize a room just for the heck of it to give you some purpose, and Castillo’s tiles and walls would shift, rattling and making a satisfying domino effect, pushing the furniture back into its proper places. This was often accompanied by a sigh, because you knew Castillo could tell you weren’t doing it for your job, but rather, for your own fulfillment.
It was getting boring. You loved your job, but it seemed without purpose. Mirabel was growing up and doing what she was born to do- be the real miracle.
You found yourself often going back to Julieta or Agustin during this time to assist them- Agustin because he was always clumsy and needed help with something, Julieta because you could never shake the feeling that she felt like “mom”. About halfway through the week, an interesting conversation happened in the kitchen.
“Agustin appreciates the attention you’ve been giving him despite the fact he already has three personal servants to keep him out of trouble,” Julieta smiled at you, her down turned brown eyes warm as you mixed dough, her hands busy kneading it.
A lot of servants helped her cook, and they all bustled around with ingredients and bowls and utensils of all kinds. The smell in the kitchen was amazing, absolutely estupendo.
“Of course la dama, anything to help the amazing Madrigals,” You replied, smiling at her work. What a unique gift. All she needed to do was lay her hands on the food at some point or another in the process and have it possess that healing power.
“You might need to get used to it,” Daniela, a kitchen maid, skidded past, only a few years older than you. She put a bowl into the oven, using the fireplace poker to make sure the heat stayed consistent on the food, “I’ve heard Mirabel and her Majesty Reina Alma are getting close. Almost like she is her heiress.”
You paused, shooting her a glance as Julieta chuckled and shook her head a little, “Mamá still has some kick in her and Mirabel is still only a child, una adolescente, she’s just 15. That won’t be happening soon.” She looked down, and you noticed despite her words she had a giant, proud, motherly smile on her face for her daughter. Always in her corner, just like you.
“Still,” María, the second kitchen maid and Julieta’s own personal servant, butted in, “Soon to become a royal advisor I’m sure of it.” The older woman set a cutting board down and began to carefully chop up some fresh cilantro, “Perhaps even her own personal asesora real, considering all the advice she's giving Her Reina already,” María sounded more logical, as if stating the simple facts. She glanced up to look between you and Julieta.
“Probably due to be on the royal court this week alone,” Daniela chirped, ever the dramatic gossiper.
“I’d hope,” You burst, finally speaking up. You beat the liquids and powder in the bowl in front of you with much unbridled vigor that it became mixed as one within seconds, touching the rim and coating one of your thumbs with the batter, “After all these years pushing her to the wayside they finally recognize her talent- oh no! No longer a pequeña oruga, eating up resources and an unpleasant sight. But no, now she's a una hermosa mariposa, glowing with a new miracle… As if she wasn’t already and wasn’t that always!”
The kitchen completely stills. Both maids and her majesty Juileta all stare at you and the paused image of your aggressively beaten batter and downcast gaze.
You take your hands off the bowl, lower your head so your scalp is visible to the royal Madrigal in the room, bowing with your hands clutched at your midsection, “I beg your pardon mi señora, I don’t know what got into me.”
Julieta gives you a small, sympathetic look. She nodded to her two other maids, and both resumed their duties as if not being bothered at all. She turned to you, putting a gentle, caring hand on your tense shoulder, “My dear, levanta la cabeza,” she put a hand under your chin and tilted it up to meet her eyes, “Let’s have a moment, shall we? To the pantry, let’s go.”
Julieta led you with a hand on your back in the most mothering way you could imagine, whispering, “Danos un momento, ladies,” to her maids as she took you into the pantry closet, closing the door behind her.
The smell of spices, fresh herbs, and dried meats and proteins hit your nose the moment you were inside. You turned to her majesty, scrambling, “I’m so sorry. I feel she is slipping away from me-”
“Shh! Shh…” Julieta gently calmed you, rubbing soothing circles on your back, “Honey, I would know how you’re feeling. I’m her mother. Mirabel deserves this, yes, but it feels so whip-lashed for sure.. One moment she comes crying to your side and now she is the heart of the Encanto, what keeps the magic breathing and alive..” she gazed proudly at nothing in particular, before blinking rapidly and looking back at you. “But I know you, and I know this is more than that.”
You sigh softly, “I just… if she moves on, gets all this power and fulfillment… mine will go. What will I do as my job? Will I ever be happy in my job again?” You shrug then turn your head to the side, not meeting Juileta’s gaze, “Would I have to resign as head of servitude? Leave my job?”
“Gracious mija! Calm down…” Julieta frantically grabbed one of your hands, making your head turn back to her.
She gave a worried look, lips pursed and one corner pushed up. Her warm chocolate colored eyes gazed at you for a moment, making sure you were calm and adding extra comfort by being warm and assuring, before she continued to speak, “We all love you here in the Castillo.” She squeezed your hand softly, “If you were to leave I’m sure the other servants and half of the Madrigal’s ourselves would riot-“
This caused you to laugh a little, making Julieta’s smile grow a little bigger. She went on, “You were destined for this, I held you in my hands as an adorable bebita right here in the walls of the El Castillo de Encanto, and you love it! Why leave?”
“Because I don’t know what’s going to happen and I feel out of control,” you breathed, rushing it out as you gazed at Julieta genuinely. Your brows were furrowed so tight in fear of the admittance and the vulnerability you were in at that moment. You knew your forehead wrinkles probably look ridiculous looking back on it.
Julieta stared at you a moment, her eyes almost looking confused before they lit with a spark of understanding, “Ah…” She brought you in for a hug, “Oh mija… do not carry that on your shoulders… you were a little girl… there was no way you could control anything…”
You knew she was talking about your mom and dad.
“You think… that’s where this started?”
“Yes bebita,” she pulled away from the hug with a small smile, “It was how your mother and father coped too. When they were stressed they ran to control.. rules and order. Sí, I think that’s it for you. You like to feel in control because you felt so out of control when that happened. I’m letting you know right now you can relax, honey. The Madrigal’s and Mí Sobregoneta Familia will always take care of you. Come, come, let’s finish cooking dinner-“
You nodded, trying to lean into her words. It made sense in your head but your stomach felt uneasy still. However, logically you knew her majesty was right. Julieta could read you as if you were one of her own daughters.
By the time dinner had been served your rapidly beating heart had quieted and your mind was at a little bit more ease.
However, your boredom and lack of personal servitude would soon come to a screeching halt.
~~
“I now announce you as his majesty Bruno Madrigal’s personal servant.”
Queen Alma Madrigal was smiling with her chin up, crown glistening, and back straight with each of her hands placed together in front of her.
You looked similar. A perfect straight back with knees slightly bent in a bow and knuckles white from gripping your hands together at your middle. However, you didn’t have a smile. You knew your eyes were big and face drained of color.
That morning started out how it usually did. How it always did. Waking Mirabel up and singing with her as you gently put oils into her curly hair. You decided to brush it back and keep the top of her hair in a cute little ponytail. The sun was warm, and her giggles were sweet, and she had no malicious intentions in her eyes behind those green glasses while she excitedly exclaimed she had a surprise for you.
When Reina Alma entered the room you bowed as you usually did, not a wrinkle in your skirt nor a stutter in your posture.  However, it was when they both opened their mouths and had you rise from your bow that things got very very off schedule.
More so, completely flipped around.
And now her majesty Queen Alma Madrigal has assigned you a whole new job after the one you had exclusively been in since you were a teenager.
“Oh geez please don’t look like that!” Mirabel walked over to you and grabbed your upper arms, making you look at her. She gave her usual dorky smile, “This is literally perfect for you!”
“Mí mijo,” Alma stepped forwards, whispering as she took a more casual stance with you- something so surprising since the Queen really, really cared about her royalty and the whole strict regime that went with it, “He’s… Struggling. He is always late to family dinner. He’s not getting up on time. He’s too nervous to use his gift and to go out into town. We have tried what we can to convince him, and he…” she stopped, swallowing, looking at her granddaughter.
The bright butterfly continued for her royal family member, “He refuses a personal servant. I think he’s just shy. Maybe embarrassed. And probably really scared.” She smiled at you softly, pushing up her glasses and continuing, “He really needs some order and routine right now.”
Okay, now she was clearly trying to cater to you.
Queen Alma stepped forward and stooped down a little to your eye level so you could see her scalp, placing her royal, magical hand on your shoulder and it made you feel so humbled. However, she herself humbled instead, looking into your eyes and meekly begging, “You did such a wonderful job making sure Mirabel grew up, despite my best efforts, knowing she was good enough and could be happy.” You relished a little bit in how the Queen openly admitted her faults when it came to Mirabel, and you relished even more in the small, soft, warm smile the two shared after her words. “You are so talented and wonderful at what you do. You clearly care for the El Castillo de Encanto, the magic itself, and our family. Extend your helping hand to me, once again, but allow me to ask for the betterment this time,” Alma moved to stand up straight, putting her hand under your chin with her fingers curled in so only the knuckle of her pointer finger gently nudged your chin upwards too, “Mí Brunito needs you. I believe your magic touch-“ her lips curled in a small smile making you smile too- “will break him out of his shell and let him relax in his new life. I want more than anything to let my son know he is valued by the Encanto, by our blessing, by our family, and more so, to be proud of himself the way I am now so much more proud of him.”
You let out a sigh exclusively from your nose, shutting your eyes for a moment.
Everything made sense. You had to let go of Mirabel. She is grown up now. You were being put in a position where you were needed most.
You thought of your dad. How he used to take care of Bruno. How he implored people to be kinder, how he saw his master and friends true nature and how it deeply distressed him when nobody would see it too.
You thought of what happened when Bruno disappeared.
You opened your eyes. You wanted to fulfill the legacy set before you by two people just as loving and passionate as you were.
You have a small nod, looking between both of the Madrigals, “I would be honored to take his majesty Bruno Madrigal as my master.”
Both of them smiled. Soon, there were four arms wrapped around you in a hug.
In the distance you heard the faint noise of sand in the wind.
Fair warning, future chapters will have smut. 18+ I will tag it when it's appropriate Correct me on any spellings, bad grammar, and ESPECIALLY on poor translation. Thoughts? Feelings? If you have none: what kind of royal would *you* be?

Hi! May I request a reader who is apart of the madrigals, but they are adopted? Reader doesn't feel like apart of the family but the madrigals reassure them that family isn't defined by blood
Found Family
Note: This request is so cute, I hope you like it💕
Pairs: Madrigals x Adopted!Reader
Platonic!
Genre: Fluff and a bit of angst.
Tumblr media
You are pathetic.
Worthless.
You don’t fit in.
You’ll never fit in.
Don’t you dare call yourself a Madrigal.
The voices in your head wouldn’t stop, no matter how hard you try.
You always try to distract yourself from the voices, like doing embroidery or or playing the guitar.
But it’s no use, it kept going and going.
Days tuned to weeks and weeks tuned to months, the voices still wouldn’t stop.
It was breakfast, you and your "family" were eating. Of course, as usual, Camilo went overboard.
"If you are going to have all that, you better eat all of it." Félix warned his oldest son.
"Yeah yeah, don’t worry pops, I won’t waste a single one." Camilo reassured his father.
You however, were staring at your food.
"{Name}, why aren’t you eating? Is everything alright?" Your foster mom Julieta asked.
All eyes of the Madrigals were on you, some in confusion, concern and worry.
"Huh? Oh, sorry. I was in my own world." You told them, but in reality you were just trying to shut the voices up.
They don’t care about you
You aren’t a Madrigal
You don’t have their blood
They are better off without you
However one Madrigal was not convinced.
You guessed it, our main character in the movie.
The infamous Mirabel Madrigal.
And she was going to find out what bothered you.
Later in the afternoon, Mirabel went to the nursery where you and her slept.
Since you don’t have a gift, you were put in the nursery.
Mirabel knocked on the door.
"Guess who!~" She singsonged, you clearly know who it was.
You the chuckle "Perhaps a fifteen-year-old girl named Mirabel Madrigal?"
The third daughter of the second oldest of the Madrigal triplets burst into the room pointing fingers at you with a smile.
"You guessed it!"
"What’s this about?" You questioned.
"Well, a little birdie told me that something was bothering, and seriously one of Antonio’s birds told him and he told me."
"So what’s bothering you hermana?" Mirabel asked.
"I just- I don’t feel like I belong in this family, out there in the pueblo are so many people that are dreaming to be part of the famous Madrigals, I feel really left out because we don’t share the same blood." You admitted and Mirabel had a look of sympathy.
"{Name}, that’s not true. Sure that people in the community wish that they shared the same blood as us, but you belong in this family. Same blood or not you are still family."
You felt the tears kicking in and you immediately hugged Mirabel, which she gladly returned.
"Isa told us that we should have a girls night in her room, wanna join?" She asked.
"Of course" You felt better already when Mirabel cheered you up.
But what was the best thing?
The voices finally stopped.

mirabel chuckled when she watched you flop down on her bed. casita using its floorboards to make sure you landed only on the soft parts.
" tough day ? "
" hhHhn- "
" I'll take that as a yes , " she sat down next to you , holding a small box in her lap , unnoticed by you since your face was deep in her comforter.
she rested a hand on your lower back , rubbing softly , " I know i can't magically make you feel better like my mom , and i cant read your mind , but I'm here to talk whenever you need "
you turned to see her smile , loving eyes creased to match , " thank you , I appreciate it , "
she leant over , wiping a stray tear of appreciation you hadn't known had fallen , " I made you something , "
she slowly held out the box , moving it as if it were a train before setting it down on your tummy , tickling you on accident
you laughed , sitting up properly to unwrap the box , pulling out a small sewn animal , your favorite animal to be exact , hand sewn with a few decorative patches , your favorite colors adorned with a collar
" they're adorable !! I don't have anything for you though , "
" no worries ! spend the day relaxing with me and we can call it even -? " punctuated with an eyebrow raise
" it's a trade offer I'm willing to accept "
she laughed in victory , leaping gently to lay on you , squishing your cheeks together
she pressed a peck to your cheek , laughing into it " ill try and cheer you up , okay ? "

Stay (Yandere Madrigals x reader)
Tumblr media
Tw: Drugging, kidnapping, unhealthy obsession, yandere themes.
"Come on mi vida, stay the night!" Camilo begged, "no sorry, I can't. My parents will be worried if i don't come home." You replied dragging your coat onto your back.
Julieta then chimed in, "at least a warm meal before you leave?" One meal couldn't hurt, right?
Little did you know the Madrigal family had a plan, a plan that would make you stay forever with them.
"we're glad you could stay a little while longer (y/n)." Alma said. You gave the woman a soft smile, "I'm glad I could señora Alma." You replied thanking her.
"Thank you señora Julieta, the food was delicious!" You told her, "You're quite welcome dear."
You then walked towards the kitchen to take your dish out, but Mirabel quickly stopping you. "I'll take that out for you (n/n)!" She said softly yanking the bowel out of you hands, scurrying off to the kitchen. You would thank her later, you thought.
You walked over to the door, turning around to face the family. Before you opened the entrance. "Thank you for your hospitality, all of you."
"You're welcome." The Madrigal family all replied
You turned back to the door, suddenly feeling slightly drowsy. Your whole world spinned, black dots then filled your vision. The next thing you knew, you were asleep.
Isabela's vines then wrapped around you, holding your limp body.
You stayed with them now, and you could do nothing about it.

“Camilo, stand straight,”
“Ay,” Camilo groaned, but did as told. “I’m standing straight.”
“Five years. For five years I’ve been telling you this,” Y/N said, putting up five fingers. He looked at her palm, nodding.
She didn’t know what to expect, but what he did next was not it. Camilo placed his own palm against hers and interlocked their fingers. Bringing their joined hands higher, he placed a tender kiss on the back of her palm. She bit the inside of her cheek at this action. If there was one thing to always expect from Camilo, it was him being unexpectedly cute.
“Dork,” she muttered, untangling her fingers from his grasp.
She placed her elbow back on her knee and rested her chin on her palm. Staring ahead, she tapped her fingers against her cheeks.
Camilo stood beside her, not feeling like joining his girlfriend on the stone wall. “You okay?”
“Yeah,” she responded, but her eyes remained on the setting sun. Like she wasn’t exactly listening. Camilo’s eyebrows scrunched. Turning his whole body towards her, he took a step forward. Now vis-a-vis and blocking the view, Y/N had to look up at him.
“Mi vida, you’re spacing out,” he deadpanned.
“I’m just taking in the view,”
“This isn’t the first time,”
Y/N straightened. Her hands fell down onto her lap, her torso was now perpendicular to the ground. That way, they could see eye to eye. But did they?
“I’m fine, Camilo,” she said.
“I hope so,” he sighed. “Because if you weren’t that would mean you’re not telling me something I should know.”
She tensed at the seriousness that overcame both his features and voice. This was the less common side of Camilo Madrigal. The one he reserved for scolding his loved ones for not taking care of themselves. Serious Camilo was someone she got to meet a lot these past few months, actually.
Instead of responding, she reached down and gently took his wrist. Sliding her hand into his own, she brought it up. She placed it on her lap. With a sigh and a nod, she started playing with his palm, his fingers. Caressing his smooth skin, delicately touching his rough from all the work fingertips. She couldn’t help but notice how quickly the tension left him and soon his hand went limp. Free for her to play with.
“You care a lot,” she said quietly. “But you don’t need to worry about me. I’m fine. I’m happy actually.”
By closing his fingers on her own, he stopped her little game. “You are?”
“Very.” she smiled.
“Mhm,” he hummed, stepping closer and moving to hold her other hand. “Why? What’s causing you to be so happy?”
A soft laugh escaped Y/N’s throat. “I know you know. You just want to hear me say it.”
“Maybe.” he let go of her hands. His own made their way to her waist. His fingers rubbed up and down her sides, dancing across her skin. “Come on, say it.”
“Dios, it’s you.” she rolled her eyes. “There. Ego boosted enough?”
He shook his head, before staring deep into her eyes and placing his forehead against hers. “I’m gonna need a name. Who did you say makes you happy?”
She pressed her lips tightly as a smile spread across her face. “Camilo.” she responded after having a mental debate with herself about whether she should or not.
“Oh? Who’s that? There are a lot of Camilo’s in this world. You’re gonna have to be more specific-“
“Madrigal, jeez. It’s Camilo Madrigal,” she laughed, cutting him off.
“Camilo Madrigal? What about him?” he kissed her cheek.
“You’re insufferable, I can’t believe you,”
“That sounds like a you problem.” he kissed her other cheek. “What about him?” he repeated his question.
“Camilo Madrigal makes me happy,” she gave in.
He pulled away unconvinced. Raising his brow and pursing his lips, he stared at her. Y/N groaned.
“Camilo Madrigal makes me very happy, the happiest actually,”
“And?”
“And I love him very much,” she said, wrapping her arms around his neck. She pulled him back to her. “I love him more than anything.”
“That’s my girl,” he whispered before kissing her deeply.

Mirabel’s twin x Madrigal sisters head cannons!
Authors note: Sorry for not posting in a bit! But Im back and happy to write, so send requests on your way! I’ll make a separate post with rules later. Anyways, enjoy!
Reader is the older twin, and they have the ability to create bubbles
Isabela
Tumblr media
You didn’t dislike Isabela the way Mirabel does, but you and Isabela aren’t best friends either, especially because of the way she treats Mirabel.
One day, she find you outside of the Casita, in tears.
She becomes concerned, and asks what is going on
You tell her that you’re naturally a bubbly person, and since happiness is usually associated with bubbles, you’re expected to be the happy, out going one,
You also tell her you feel pressured by Abuela, you don’t exactly have a certain service to the village, but you do keep the kids entertained. Abuela constantly tells you that you need to make an effort to serve the village and to quit messing around. She makes you feel like your gift is useless
Isabela understands your pressure of having to be happy and bubbly all the time, and reassures you that your gift is useful! She also ends up telling you about her pressures and problems. You realize how similar you two are, and helps you two grow closer to one another!
She makes you flower crowns, and sometimes you two have sleepovers in each other’s rooms
Luisa
Tumblr media
Worried about her 24/7
You notice that all she does is work
You urge her to take a break, but she smiles at you and reassures you she's fine
You help Luisa out whenever you can, trying to ease her load a little bit
She pushes you away, saying she's got this, she fine, etc, but you're just as stubborn as her
Helping Luisa nearly everyday because it's the only time you feel like your gift is useful
When she gets nervous about the magic fading, you and Mirabel try to get her to open up
She does, and you and your twin give her a huge hug, which she returns, crushing you two
You become protective of your older sister, trying to force her to relax
"But he said he needs help with the donkeys-" "Luisa I said TAKE IT EASY"
Mirabel
Tumblr media
Even though you both are twins, you were got a gift, and she didn't
The night she didn't get her gift, you comforted her, and refused to stay in your new room, wanting to stay with Mirabel
You didn't use your gift for a while after that
You two are close, you are rarely seen without each other
You always tell her she's special just the way she is, and shouldn't let anyone else think otherwise
You stick up for her when Abuela makes her feel left out, but unlike Juileta you're a little more aggressive
"Mirabel! I don't know what your doing, but stop it!" "Abuela, quit being so hard on Mira!"
You always know when Mirabel feels sad
You tell Mirabel that she is exactly what the family needs

Rest now (Yandere Madrigal family x writing fatigued! reader)
Tumblr media
(sorry for not uploading lately, I just haven't been that sure on what to write, also thank you to @thefieryphoenix for requesting once again!)
The passing couple of days you had only been writing, you were exhausted. But you couldn't stop, you needed to finish this book.
The Madrigal family watched worryingly, as you walked down the stairs. They knew how you had been denying your self care, they really wanted to help you but you would hiss, every time they tried. "Are you ok, mi Amor?" Camilo asked, his voice filled with concern "Yes I'm fine, I already told you that!" You replied, snapping at him. They could tell how you hadn't been getting any sleep at all. Ugh, how those purple bags drooped under your eyes.
All they wanted was for you to take care of yourself, and be in good health. But you didn't want to, you were only focused on your writing and that was it, maybe getting some food or a drink every once in a while as well. You went into the kitchen, quickly grabbing a cup of water. Then returning to your room.
You continued scribbling on your page, (I don't know what they used to write back then, so don't come for me) jotting down your story, like you already had been for the past hours of the day.
Some time had passed, now it was dinner. You did feed yourself and drink, but you never cleaned your self or slept. You felt all the Madrigals stares on you, but you didn't care what they thought, they didn't know how much this meant to you. After you had finished our dinner, you climbed out of your chair, then walking back to your room.
But, you never made it, because you suddenly felt dizzy. You felt, tired. Did Julieta drug the food? Unfortunately for you she had. Your body made a loud thump as you fell onto the floor.
Your eyes slowly opened, your vision was slightly blurry, and you felt dazed. You then heard whispers of the Madrigal family follow. "W-what, where am I?! Let me go!" You demanded, while also thrashing in the ropes, "sorry Amor, but we can't do that." Pepa replied calmly. "Y-you don't understand! I n-need to finish this book!" "stop worrying about that book doll, you need rest" Dolores told you. "N-n-no! No rest! I need to finish it!" you screamed, "you are staying here Estimada/Estimado, whether you like it or not" Julieta said coldly. You gulped.
Suddenly, Julieta came over to you, and shoved a arepa in your mouth. Forcing you to chew. "Rest now" Julieta told you gently, you eyes slowly started to shut, making your world turn black.
(make sure you take care of yourself no matter what!)
