he is—or more accurately, was—rex lapis, after all. surely it wasn't uncommon for him to be seen as a fatherly figure? the people of liyue looked up to him as one when he was a god, so it isn't like it's a new experience for him or anything.

he's used to it, but that doesn't mean he feels any less endeared by people who deem him as such! it happens often, but he never ceases to feel a parental warmth when it does happen. perhaps it has something to do with his more... dragon-like instincts.

whatever the case may be, he isn't at all bothered by being seen in such a familial way. in fact, he's quite fond of it.

so, inevitably, he would naturally take on that kind of role over his own beloved son's yaksha's younger sibling figure.

...though, as good of a father figure as he is, i think he would be a little bit of a boring person for those not interested in his lengthy history rambles.

but assuming xiao's sibling is interested, for the sake of this post—

he's happy to tell them about anything they'd like to know. if they have questions about liyue's history or about the times when the other yakshas were alive, he's completely alright with telling them his tales... excluding the more violent and grotesque details, of course.

you may be pleased to know s04 is a great fan favourite, as is...most of the first five series 🥹 i have a ridiculous soft spot for s02, which is pretty tragic since it was so short. in the beginning, in general, the contestants didn't quite understand the full potential of the format, didn't realise all of the lateral thinking they could do, didn't try or want to push the rules — so there's something just so stupid about it, like they really just let alex push them around and laugh at them, and that was so funny. now, there are a lot more rules, certain elements can be tired, the writing team has to work hard so it's not formulaic, etc. still an amazing programme, in HUGE parts thanks to 1) alex and 2) their editor rachel (we stan!!!), but the wide-eyedness of the earliest series are unbeatable in some regards imo. that said, we've had some great recent series, 14 being the the most recent fan fave imo!

Bug Pronouns

So, as a non-native english speaker i wonder about certain rules that are connected directly to my interest - insects.

When i was taught english, the rules about animal pronouns were kinda outdated. Any animal should be referred to with an "it/its" pronoun. However being actually exposed to native speakers quickly proved otherwise - people like to humanize their pets and use more "human" pronouns. (Very valid btw) And any language is a creature of its own - it is constantly changing and evolving. So i wonder - how bug-lovers refer to bugs and why? What kind of flavour people give to a small thing they find cute or interesting when they refer to it? This is borderline a shitpost, i just think it would be fun to make this poll, please dont take it too seriously. But if you ever saw serious research on bug gender, send a link cuz it sounds interesting :D

There's actually 3 of them, with Sting being the eldest

And for some context, they're from an AU where PV's sentience is discovered before the sealing, and also they ruinite with Ghost shortly after.

She's extroverted, super energetic and likes to bite things (and people rip PK's ankles). First thing she did right out of the egg was to try and chew on PV's finger. She's also named after Hornet.

Spectre is her twin brother and the younger one out of the two. He's a shy, quiet kid and a bit of a drama queen. Literally came into this world screaming his head off. And you can probably guess correctly that he's named after Ghost. I find PV naming their kids after their siblings very cute.

Also, yeah he's a bee and should technically be a grub, but I got attached to this design and just justified it by saying since vessels go through hemimetabolous metamorphosis, they got that from their parent and just hatch looking like a miniature bee. Yeah, that does raise some eyebrows.

And the third one, Tally. They're 5 years younger than their siblings and look a lot more like a normal vessel and take a lot after PV appearance-wise. They're a quiet, sweet kid that prefers to do their own thing. Their nickname is "little tulip" thanks to their horns looking like flower buds. They're also the one kid I draw the lost of, for some reason

As for their parents-

They have three. (the bee is supposed to have wings btw I just consistently forget about giving the characters wings for whatever reason, it's the bane of my existence)

Petunia is a solitary bee that just ended up in Hallownest and settled down there after a pretty hard life. They're genderfluid, use any pronouns and work as a comedian (who has a personal love for puns). They met, started living with and got together with their other partner before they met PV. Also, I find it funny that they're with PV bc they're very much an anarchist, very critical of the monarchy and generally dislike the higher beings. Also also, they've been declared autistic by my bestie.

Lummis is the firefly, he was born in Hallownest, orphaned and then adopted into a family of menderbugs. Because of it he's sort of a mechanic (or the bug equivalent) by trade. He's also the token cis guy of the relationship (he/him). He's the reasonable one in the relationship that keeps the others in check but still goes along with whatever idiotic idea Petunia pulls because "somebody will have to talk the guards out of arresting us and it certainly won't be you and your big mouth". He's also Hegemol's godson because I head anon that guy as a menderbug and I thought it'd be funny if PV has a bunch of close calls getting catched by good ol' Hedge.

Petunia is the bio parent of Sting and Spectre and Lummis is the bio parent of Tally, though they don't really make that distinction and just all raise them together.

Watched the 60th Anniversary special episode tonight. Here are my thoughts! Spoiler heavy btw

The Meep is great. Flawless. I kinda predicted the twist (though none of the rest of my family did) but it was incredibly funny and great. The evil furby….

Trans rose trans rose! I knew she was trans but it being a plot detail and such a large part of the story wasn’t something I expected. Some of the language (particularly the pronoun part with the meep) was a little clunky and cringey imo but overall pretty good. Idk I feel like my bars are kinda lowered from rarely getting any trans rep but, it was all good except the pronoun bit and the “men can’t understand this” part at the end (that bit was so bad why)

Rose being called Rose is such. wow. I guess it makes sense because of metacrisis imprinting or whatever but, so cool! If I were her and found out the name I called myself was actually because the loser guy who gave my mum space powers that imprinted me to call myself the name of his ex gf, however, I would be kind annoyed LOL

Donna is perfect in every way and I am happy to see her back

New intro is pretty nice and I am liking the TARDIS. It’s interesting to see them taking inspiration from classic who. And the “WHOniverse” intro is interesting… RTD getting to do the massive MCU-like expanded universe like he wanted

The storyline was enjoyable but a bit basic, makes sense though since the focus is on the characters and introducing them, first episode of a new companion tend to be like this

It was kind of jarring at first ngl seeing David Tennant in a more HD and high-budget setting than what I usually associate with his Doctor, but I got used to it as the episode went on

EDIT: forgot to add this but… I don’t like the sonic screwdriver being so useful. As in, the holograms and force fields etc. Feels kinda lazy to me, I like the doctor to have more limited technology

Overall, high hopes for these specials and hope they’re received well, fingers crossed.

Okay so appearance wise, I'm 5'3, blue/grey eyes with half bleached (white blonde underneath, brown on top) shoulder length hair. I also wear glasses. She/her pronouns.

I'm a Scorpio and my personality type is ISTP. My love language is definitely quality time! I'm often quite shy when first meeting someone, but when I'm comfortable around them I essentially lose all shame and become the loudest in the room. I also started bookbinding as a hobby last year, which I find very relaxing.

arthur is 16, uses any pronouns (i typically use he/him but it's very whatever), and he's a funny little protagonist guy.

as of right now, i'm reworking his story for the 185375th time and will most likely update later :]

arthur used to live with his mom, but then she died, and he now lives with his sister, danika, in colorado. arthur didn't get along with his mom, and absolutely doesn't get along with danika, but they make it work by simply never going near each other if they can help it

arthur is a semi-famous tiktoker, known for fnaf cosplay and shitpost content. fnaf is his special interest. he has a wall in his room that she's made look like one of the fnaf 1 hallways. and also she has a picture of pinkypills william afton that she chews on when stressed.

she has a pet cockroach she named craigory. he's actually the god of eternity but It's Fine. she doesn't know that ofc.

gwen is their best friend (i'll post gwen in a bit, but that's a lot of stuff i do not want to type out atm). gwen and arthur are online friends, and have been for years. he has some irl friends. he hangs out with silas and rowan the most. silas is going to have his own post, idk about rowan tho :P rowan lives in the other half of the duplex arthur lives in, along with his legal guardian, leylo. arthur comes over all the time and pesters the shit out of leylo and rowan but they love him :] (leylo is getting her own post btw) (if i can remember to finish these oc posts)

arthur dresses like they are dressed in the above pic pretty often. they make all of their fancy clothes, but also have a lot of stuff they've bought from walmart and target that they like. i never draw xem in casual clothes but they are usually in much more casual clothes :P

xe keeps getting haunted because he loves shopping at antique stores and thrift stores and keeps looking at the most obviously haunted items and going "yeah i'll buy that." currently he is being haunted by a ghost that lives in a doll. he bought the doll because they saw it in a store window and couldn't get it out of their head. and kept having dreams about it. so they just bought it. and it keeps trying to haunt him but he keeps being nice to it (while obviously incredibly scared) so they've entered an uneasy friendly alliance.

arthur's dad is the god of trickery (gods work very differently in my world, but i don't want to get into that rn) and he has two half-brothers: milo and max. technically, danika is also his half-sister, but it's easier to just say sister). anyway, arthur's dad doesn't know arthur exists until he's like 14 and keeps using shady methods to get to know him. like, having employees of his pick arthur up from school (or try to. arthur doesn't go because, yknow, stranger danger). or sending vague threats to people who hurt arthur. he wants to be a good dad, but he's a mob boss at heart and cannot change that. milo and max get along with arthur fairly well. max is also leylo's ex, so when she learns that they're related she feels Very Weird about it for a bit.

ummmm what else. arthur's hobbies are decorating his room, sewing, making tiktoks, shopping, and archiving things. OH arthur buys old tapes and such from garage sales and posts them to youtube so ppl can find their family videos and such. and sometimes they're funny. and sometimes they're haunted. they are very often haunted.

I teach dance to mostly elementary-age kids, which is a lot of fun! Personally, my favorites are more traditional styles like ballet and tap, but I’m also really into dance involving some kind of apparatus, so like “manipulation disciplines” (baton twirling, hooping, and the apparatus handling element of rhythmic gymnastics) and aerial (silks, lyra, sling, trapeze, etc). And I LOVE using 60s/70s rock music for choreo (and sometimes new wave); a lot of teachers will only use “kids music” for their classes, but I always find that kids really enjoy older music/rock music/the beatles especially.

Omg I was obsessed with Elton John as a kid after he was on the bob the builder Christmas special 👀 like we have so many home videos of me performing crocodile rock in the living room lmao. so Elton John holds such a special place in my heart 🩵 also do you have any Led Zeppelin recs?? I enjoy their music whenever I hear it on the radio, but I don’t really know where to start to properly get into them! Also I’m sooooo jealous you got to see Queen + AL live!!!!! I’m sure it was amazing!!!! Sadly they did not come anywhere near my city on the rhapsody tour

okay you’re getting like a proper essay on the monkees because it’s a complicated situation. Micky likes to say they’re a fake band that became a real band. basically the creators of the show wanted to make an American version of the hard day’s night movie but in tv format. so they held auditions for the show and ended up casting 2 guys who were more musicians (mike & peter) and 2 guys who were more actors (micky & davy, although davy was a broadway performer and could definitely sing and do percussion, but had basically no experience in rock/pop music). so obviously they’re not like a “real band” bc they’re assembled so artificially. they assign micky to be the drummer even though he has no drumming experience whatsoever. Davy is actually a proficient drummer, but the showrunners want him to be their front man (even though he only ends up singing maybe half of the songs, but I digress) and they think he’s too short to be behind the drum kit. they also don’t allow the guys to play any of the instruments on the songs, just the vocals. Mike gets a clause in his contract that a couple of his original songs will be recorded, but it’s still session musicians. but the songs are catchy and the show is funny, and they become fairly popular :) if you’ve watched big time rush, the monkees show has a really similar vibe!! the four of them are essentially playing caricatured versions of themselves, with their own names, except they make Peter play the dumb one and he quietly resents this.

Part 2: The Trouble Begins

So the monkees are a fake band in a tv show, right? That seems to be the case until the showrunners start releasing albums of their music, taking the monkees on tour (they had to teach micky to drum for this), and, crucially, insisting to the public that the monkees actually do play their own music. and then forcing the guys to lie about it too (not to mention the frankly abusive conditions the monkees were being forced to work in). eventually the guys start telling the world how they’re not allowed to play their instruments, and instead of being sympathetic to their plight, everyone suddenly HATES the monkees for being a fraud. and legitimately some of that stigma continues to this day

Part 3: Total Control

While all that drama is going down, Mike and Peter decide that they actually want to make their own music, and micky and Davy get on board pretty soon. so the four of them start fighting to get creative control over the band. in one altercation over this in a hotel room, Mike famously punches a hole in a wall and says “that could’ve been your face, motherfucker” to the showrunner. so eventually they get creative control over the band and put out 4 albums really quickly! the tv show flops after season 2 because they’ve been outed as frauds and also because they were being more themselves than they were in season 1. they make a movie that flops horribly. Peter leaves the band. Mike leaves the band. Micky and Davy try desperately to keep it alive but after a little bit Davy becomes too much of a bitch and micky is having too much of a quarter-life crisis. none of them are basically ever taken seriously as performers again. Was it a real band? Was it a tv show? You decide!

Raide! Genderfluid, any pronouns

Raide is a Twili, which is a species from twilight princess, but ive changed em up a bit to be more interesting in my opinion.

Raide is 17, and is a passionate artist with a lot of skills. she can sew, she can draw, he can paint, he can play violin and cello and flute, they can write, they can just do a lot.

they were born to two royal guards, and he loves his mothers deeply, even if she isnt following in their footsteps. she is currently dating her boyfriend, Calen, and loves him very very dearly.

Calen! Trans Man, He/Him.

Calen, despite sharing almost every physical trait of one, is not a twili. he is actually a living doll, built by his mother and father after they were unable to have kids. his father spent years crafting him out of strong wood, before casting a spell to give him life. he is, for all intents and purposes, a regular twili, the only difference being the type of ears he has, and the fact that he has to take special elixirs to keep himself functioning.

Calen is also 17, and is a travelling merchant. he gathers supplies and travels the half-light kingdoms in order to sell his goods, which range from potions, to dyes, to fabrics and tools. he always comes back home though, in favor of restocking his wares and seeing his family.

The Twins, Kalt and Vang! Kalt, Nonbinary, He/They. Vang, Trans Woman, She/Her.

The twins are 16, and are the prince and princess of one of the Half-Light kingdoms. which one? uhhh get back to me on that lmao. these two arent quite as fleshed out as the other two because the other two were recycled OC's that i already loved, so they tend to get more attention from me...

Kalt doesnt really have anything special going on. hes just a little guy who cares about his friends.

Vang however, was born with the ability to see small glimpses of the past or present. she doesnt control them, and she doesnt really like them either, but theres nothing she can do about it. she was born a few minutes before Kalt and she will absolutely make fun of him for it.

Both of them are friends with Calen and Raide.

this is hobic. hes entirely based on a stupid joke my family makes. instead of saying homophobic we sometimes say Home Of Hobic, which led to the joke that Hobic is a gay wizard with a Homophobic Home. The home of hobic is homophobic. get it. yeah. theres not much to him yet but he exists. he's probably in his mid 20's.

Trance! gender? whos that? any pronouns

trance is just. a lynx without eyes. why? i thought it would be cool. i was correct btw. Trance is basically just a mascot type deal at this point but you can still ask about it.

Zeverin! He/Him, usually..

this is zeverin, or zev for short. hes a changeling rouge from my first dnd campaign. he's a little stupid but he has the spirit. the owl mask on his head is a special item he got on his journey, specifically because he was the only character without dark vision, which the goggles help with. he can and will attempt to persuade and or seduce his way out of situations if he can, just because he thinks its funny. he also can and will stab people.

he tried to steal soap from a store once. just for fun. he got caught though, and then kicked out, and then almost killed for it before his teammate used her incredible charm to get the shopowner to calm the fuck down.

this drawing shows him as he prefers to look, but he can change his appearance whenever. his "true" form is completely void of color, a blank slate, as it is for all changelings.

Falling Stars on Cloudy Nights, or Stars for short (FSoCN) any pronouns work!

Stars is an iterator OC from the game rainworld. again, not really fleshed out much, but shes an iterator with an interest in art and the sky. she is the sibling iterator to my actual siblings iterator oc, but thats not my job to talk about lol. Stars is just kind of here, but again, feel free to ask about him, maybe itll help give him some personality!

Glowstick!! He/Him

Glowstick is a.. scavenger.. slugcat... thing.. from rainworld! He was made up when i messed with spearmasters colors and the dress my slugcat mod and accidentally gave spearmaster Bright Green spears. His title is The Chemist, based on the fact that he has weird chemicals in his tail that allow him to make glowing spears whenever.

he has good relationships with the scavengers and his iterator, stars. he is a little bloodthirsty, and will sometimes go out for cycles at a time just to go hunt lizards or vultures, but he always comes home.

Squid Jr! he/him

this is Squid Jr. he was made because i messed around with the beastmaster mod and ended up making a monk slugpup, which we promptly named "squad jr" after his family, The Squad, who is really just a hoard of playable Monk slugcats that i summon when me and my sibling feel like messing around and or i die in the game and want to be funny by helping using The Squad.

Squid Jr was renamed after one of my mutuals was saddened by the fact he was not, in fact, named Squid Jr.
