Man that sure is a Situation where two 14 year olds push the limits of each other’s trauma responses until they both reach extreme breaking points. and then they deal with the aftermath basically all by themselves. Isn't that super awesome and totally not kinda fucked up at all.
#anyway i was thinking of the mob and teru fight. as usual. and i dont know how to voice my thoughts beyond. whatever i just drew#also ‘pushing the limits of each other’s trauma responses’ means both intentionally (teru) or unintentionally (mob). not to justify Someone#anyone else think about how one of teru's first lines is#“if i show these guys how big of a gap there is they'll be more restrained in the future”. cuz I do. whats his deal.#Mob psycho should have been about mob frolicking in a delightful field with various friends and family members#having a joyous time forever (no bad things happen)#mp100#added ID in alt text !!#mp100 fanart#my art

just read your line about reigen trying to convince teru that he Really Does Not have psychic powers, and im just pulling this out of my ass because it's fun to speculate (even if i havent read the actual fic (YET)) but to me it sounds like teru just Cannot believe that he's able to have respect for someone "less" powerful than him. im not sure if "believe" is the right word in that sentence. like, it simply does not make sense that reigen can be worthy of ANYONE'S respect- unless he was Powerful. unless there was a Reason to trust him, or put faith in him. reigen cannot be relatable as a person unless he's "proved" himself to be The Best Kind of person.
again, this is me just going off on a wild goose chase to catch the kind of person teru is in your fic based on one line from another character, but it's like. okay, so mob beat him up that one time. so mob has proved that the way He lives is also a Correct way to live as someone More Powerful than teru and therefore worthy of respect. so he decides to try and emulate mob and be The Good Guy. but it's a bit half assed. no one else "proves" themselves to teru the way mob did. he'll be "kind" the way he thinks mob would be, but it's like others arent really the same level of "person" to him, not the real kind of people that mob and teru are. im not sure if teru would use this terminology (i cant remember how hard he games) but it's like theyre all NPCs and he's finally decided to play the Good Route. and time passes and teru manages to slot a few other people in the Worthy of my Respect slot. including reigen. and then he actually manages to gain respect for reigen as a person, instead of as someone More Powerful. and thats not the first time it's happened, but it only makes sense, because reigen remains someone with power, so of Course teru is allowed to feel that way about him. so what does it mean if, after all this time, teru learns that reigen isnt actually psychic?
i apologize one more time because i still have no idea what your fic is about and i have no idea if this is even REMOTELY close to teru's mindset. i just think he's a really fun character to think about. i hope it's at least fun to see someone go off on a teru tangent, and im sorry if it isnt, or if im just so far off base with your own ideas about teru that it's embarrassing. i PROMISE i will read your fic soon 🙏
No spoilers on the fic (and that line is still a ways in the future, so tbh no one but me knows Teru's mindset during that particular conversation), but I do love me a Teru tangent so thanks for sending it!
Also I think "life is a video game and he's finally decided to do the Good Route" is a VERY interesting reading of Teru's character! Fits well with some of my ideas about how he (internally & self-consciously) interacts with The Narrative. That boy can fit so much genre-awareness in him and it does NOT help him even a little bit.
#conversations#mob talk#ughhhhh i need. to not be a slug.#and then i need to rewatch mob psycho and finish drafting this fic (and brassica heresy)#i want to talk about my ideas but i need. to actually write them first.

Late to posting this (my first draft got deleted and I lost motivation lol) but wow the new episode was amazing and I shed some tears Honestly I just wanna give a little love letter to Teruki's character because he's one of my favorites and I always just appreciated him being on screen as a support cause he's just an absolute sweet heart and seems like someone who seems like a pleasure to be around. And I wanna appreciate how far he's come cause this character conclusion was so good for him
One thing I always loved about him was his constant drive to genuinely want to improve himself as a person.
I think we all know him trying to humble himself after having such a heavy superiority complex is a big part of it. But I feel like we don’t remind ourselves enough that Teru’s superiority complex stemmed from trying to hide an inferiority complex. It’s not JUST a struggle about going over your head even if that’s apart of it. But it’s also a journey of discovering what it truly means to be equal with others. It’s a concept I really appreciate being explored here because it’s something I struggle with myself. And while his arc is subtle for a lot of the series. It’s definitely there.
This is why his dynamic with Mob is so important. How he feels about Mob throughout the series perfectly captures his character arc. Seeing him as a threat to his ego and life and needing to establish “the hierarchy” but then putting him on a pedestal and admiring him greatly and essentially labelling Mob as someone “Above him” There’s still a lot of little things in the series that adds up to him still viewing the world through this hierarchy he’s made in his head even if he’s trying to rid of it.
This moment was really great and you can see the horror in him as he truly has to take in what’s happening and the dangers with it. I adore that the way Teru finally sees Mob as an equal is also seeing him at a very low point in his life. He’s not above mistakes, and everyone has their bad days and things they want to hide about themselves.

Calling himself a common constantly is pretty blunt and perhaps harsh in some peoples eyes. But it means what it means, he’s not above or below anyone, he’s just like everyone else.
Also note I’ve been anime only for Mob Psycho since I’ve started watching in middle school though I have read a few chapters of the manga and plan to do a full read when the anime is done. But for this arc I’ve been reading the manga chapter right after the episode and I just wanted to talk about this line that was cut

(The last panel) I’m really sad about this change because it really says how much Mob hates himself and all it does is break my heart and make me reflect on how innocent all this started. He spent so much time trying to gain the courage to ask his crush out flowers and everything and he ended up with a near death experience and destroying everything around him and hurting his friend. I might make a seperate post talking about him in this episode or perhaps wait for the next to do so.But Teru refusing to hurt him and claiming his victory through saving the people around him is honestly so amazing so many ways. Not only is he easing the pain of his friend and making sure his worst fear doesn’t happen. But it truly speaks where his values now lie.
Originally a gang leader drunk on power and participating in fights because it was the biggest boost for his ego to someone who wants to whole heartedly help other people.
Those other psychic kids from the awakening lab in season one he took upon himself to train, he always tries to help take claw down, his absolute refusal to be brain washed and let that happen to the city, he always tries to help Mob out when he’s in trouble.
When Teru says “I win” he did. It’s an amazing victory for him because he accomplished his goal of protecting others and wants to make the world a better place and he’s become a true leader in the process.
I can’t help but think back to season 2’s Toichiro when thinking of Teru. The idea of being so drunk on power and dismissing the importance of others he expresses. Human connection is a very important theme in Mob Psycho and I think human connection is also very important to Teru’s arc for the reasons stated above

A while back my friend showed me some things in the fan book that didnt contain manga spoilers and I think the last line stuck with me because of this idea. It also took me back to that omake with him and Reigen of him having a fun summer after seeing them as boring.
I’m very very proud of him for not closing his heart off. He did a great job.

Messy thoughts...
It seems Nene really went through some kind of development on regard of sorting things out, huh?
Didn't you notice anything there, Nene?
...............
Indeed, Hanako.
All that repetition and you didn't notice a thing (up until you were told), Nene? It's just a name, even…….
What are we going to do with the very big deals, Nene?
It seems you've changed since then, from not being able to get to the fact that 2 are brothers or to notice they have the same 'surname'… we have this.
It's super impressive you managed to get all that on your own! You saw the seal on Sumire, you made a connection between it and all the other yorishiros, and concluded Sumire is one all by yourself! Nice!
But.... doesn't all this ring a bell, dear Nene? Isn't there someone else you know who has an "identical" seal to hers?
You could simply go through the same thinking process and get to this fact, right? or simply... "wait! there is someone else who has the exact same seal as her! No way! Tsukasa-kun is........"
There was no need for this to happen, dear Nene. You didn't need any kind of outside help to guess this, you could have guessed so easily by yourself without getting any hints from someone. You didn't need that at all.
Why Nene? Why? You didn't need any help to get to that fact, right? You didn't need anyone to draw a line between the other yorishrios and Tsukasa, you did that yourself before. You don't need anyone to tell you what a yorishiro is, you already knew, right?
There was no need to hear that again from someone, right? You even gave Mistsuba 2.0 a lesson about it...
For you to know about a yorishiro:
A) The yorishiro seal. B) Make a connection between the someone who has it and the other yorishiros you've dealt with to know it's indeed one. C) Whose yorishiro is it?
These are the facts you needed to know who Hanako's yorisiro is, right? The first 2 steps you did them before all by yourself, you can know Tsukasa is a yorishiro just like how you did with Sumire, as for c....
Given all that, you can know Tsukasa is Hanako's yorishro even while sleeping in your bed at night. There was absolutely no need for any help or lead or whatever.
Then why, Nene? Is it because you need someone to take the lead? You can do it by yourself. You don't need to be told.
It's similar to the Minamoto brothers, huh? Even after repeating their "surname" so much, you didn't drow a conncetion at all, until you were told they are brothers by Teru. After seening a lot of yorishiros, you managed to guess who Sumire is, but Tsuaksa who has a seal exactly like hers, didn't come to mind, even though the 2 are exactly the same case, until you were told by someone to figure it out? You got over the difficult part, yet, couldn't make that simple connection. Like, it's the easiest part. You pulled the line with Sumire and it's amazing, just take the last super simple step. You don't need any one to tell you to take it! You got the difficult part, what was left is the last very simple step, yet you needed someone to remind you of it? Please, Nene, I'm sure you can do all that, all by yourself. You're so capable, you can even get to all that thinking, without all that girl put you through, even by simply asking yourself at any time: "everyone of the 7 mysteries has their own yorishiro, I wonder what Hanako-kun's is?" I'm sure then you will get the same answer, all by yourself. Or even by replacing Tsukasa with Sumire, as in...
If things this simple will take you so long to guess, it's gonna be a problem with all the facts you will be getting later in the future.
Such as.......
So, um... you got to this because of some reasons, fine... so, he is a "fake".... but then......
Now...
"fake-kun" is Hanako's yorishiro.
................ You said ghost Tsuaksa is fake like... a day ago? Then a day later, this....... did you forget all about that "fake" thingy...? I hope not, and you just changed your mind and saw it deasn't make sense for him to be fake, especially with the evidences you had in mind when you got to the fact he is the yorishiro.
This.........
"That strange house" = Your old house
"The thing on the pizza" = That part of the supernatural
What Hanako got from all that was: "house?" and "pizza?".
And you totally forgot to say: "we met that little child there in that house, too" = little Tsuaksa
I get it, I get it. You were under so many emotions and you were saying things in a harry. I don't blame you, not at all.
But, after you calmed down and talked with Hanako up until Tsuaksa showed up, you were saying you wanted to stay with Hanako in the far shore forever. Let's pretend Tsukasa never showed up, what was going to happen? what plans did you have in mind, other than playing games and all? Did you want to talk to Hanako in detals about all that happned and all the things you knew since the very start of the story, as you wanted to stay there forever with him and nothing else really matters at that point? Maybe you had asking him about the promise he made to you in mind?
Let's forget about that, since things didn't go well. Now… such valuable information doesn't have to stay vague to Hanako like these…
Come on, Nene, if Hanako didn't ask, you were going to forget about all that happened with you in No.6's boundary?
You also didn't say anything other than that: "it was ok not to destroy the remaining yorishiro" and all the other things........ "she told me a lot of things". You should tell Hanako everything my dear, things will get better if you do.
The "house" "well" "pizza" "little Tsuaksa" "what really happened to sumire" "knowing Tsukasa is a yorishiro" "fake?" (I don't think it's that much of an issue, since it seems somewhere along the way, she knew this can't be true or at least I hope... that she didn't forget about it, since she saw ghost Tsukasa a little after mentioning the house where little him was and didn't say the ghost one is a fake or anything and when she went to Sumire she called him "Tsukasa-kun", same as when she said he is the yorishiro. So I think she doesn't see him as fake? I hope, I hope. And maybe also she can talk with Hanako about these things too... "the times she went back in time" "the key" even "the moon rock itself and the momories within it"..... There is a lot to talk about and discuss with Hanako, I think the last 2 are up to him... since he gave her a promise before...
And thinking more about that promise... what happened here is...
............ here too......
Hmm... what about that promise...? You're not going to fulfil it? ..........
Back to Nene...
You need to tell Hanako about these things, after all that happened, he deserves to know, right? I guess there was no time to talk, but at least you should have the thougth of "I should inform Hanako about these things, he needs to know" in mind. I want to see her tell him about these things in an upcoming chapter 'all by herself', "without any outside force leading her to", "all on her own" some time in the future, I will wait for it to happen, even if it meant I have to wait for 100 other chapters. If it didn't happen... or if things happened and Nene was then forced to talk... I will be really disappointed, because she can do that all by her own. Take the lead, Nene... just like you said here...
......... not only on romance, but on other things too, especially if they were related to the boy that you love.
And I have to say... at the start of the manga... things like this were so good of you to do... you were taking the lead, you were doing things by yourself and on your own!
And now... when you get to know a lot more about him... you're just forgetting about it? I know that's not the case, right?
Let me see you deep in thought about all these things, trying to come up with answers for your questions now that you know a lot more about Hanako, let me see you trying to talk with Hanako about what happned during the severance, once, twice and more...
Kinda reminds me of Aoi in here...
It took Aoi a long time and multiple tries to tell Nene about the picture album, yet, she didn't give up until she got what she wanted.
Don't stop chasing after what you want, and until you get all you want don't stop in place, Nene. I'm sure you're more than capable of sailing on your own, don't be stuck in place, move forward and fight to get answers, think a lot about all the facts you have now, try to discover more, keep moving and never stop in place! You don't need anyone to lead you on how to think or to know things you can know all by yourself. You can do what is right. I have faith in you. Don't let me down.
#Nene. go talk to Hanako about everything. please. just do it.#the promise... is it lost or not.. i wonder...#when are you going to tell her about everything.Amane? at this rate. Nene and us will become detectives before you do...#Tsukasaaaaaa help! I need to know more! please give Nene (and us) more hints or anything that will keep her going!!!#jibaku shounen hanako kun#toilet bound hanako kun#hanako kun#jshk#tbhk#jibaku shonen hanako kun#yashiro nene#yugi tsukasa#yugi amane

The one thing I want to know about ABOT is, how do you manage to keep the story flowing long after you've lost the fixation on it? I've tried to start up many of my own longer fictions and I always stall out. Is it a mindset or something more complicated like, letting the story change as you see it?
Ah, you know, that's a really good question.
Amazingly with ABoT, I haven't lost the fixation.
I'm not sure I could nail that down to a science. I definitely HAVE lost fixations on projects before. The first long-fic I did was an 80,000 word fic I wrote when I was 14. I wrote the first ~60k or so in the span of a few months from a strong fixation, then fell out of it, then sort of begrudgingly brought it to the finish line many-more-months later when I'd mostly lost interest, but wanted to see the story through.
Tourmaline, another ~80,000 word venture, I started and finished in a sprint of about 2 months. I was operating under a certain pressure like "I need to do this fast before everyone else (and I) lose interest."
ABoT was much harder to do that with, because ABoT, currently 320,000 words and growing, could not be written in a manic sprint. There was a period with ABoT where I definitely DID lose interest... When the updates in late 2017 slowed to a trickle, and stopped in 2018, I was dealing with a combination of things stopping me in my tracks. For one, the biggest was dealing with the targeted backlash to ABoT. It's hard to hold ground with a ton of people who've got nothing better to do than try and kick down your sandcastle. But ALSO I was dealing with a sort of combined "fear that if im not fast, people will lose interest" and "I can't keep going because I'm frustrated and I hate these characters now"
Like I absolutely hit a point in time where I'd TRY to write something, and I'd look at like some chunk of Reigen dialogue and be like "fuck you, shut up" just ACTIVELY frustrated with who these characters were. I remember taking up a little BNHA fanfiction project and being worried when I realized how much more excited I was about that, while ABoT felt like a haunting, joyless commitment. I'm convinced if I'd forced myself through that, the characters would have become like... flanderized, heartless imitations trying to grasp on to whatever made them interesting in the first place.
(side note: sometimes I feel that exact vibe from long-running series. Like I go "I see, you're frustrated and hate this now, author. I'm sorry.")
But I did pull out of that. And how exactly that happened is hard to say for sure, maybe a combination of things. I definitely spent pretty much all of 2018-2020 just, quietly sad about the ABoT plotlines I thought I'd never see through. I was still mulling them over in my head, still shaping them and giving love to them. I just thought I could straight up never return. So going "fuck it" and returning to it late 2020, with a lot of warm reception and 0 backlash definitely fueled me.
I also have the benefit of people actively being engaged and supportive. It's super motivating to get like, a long gushing ao3 email, or someone kicking in the doors of the ABoT discord with a long loving rant about their thoughts on what's going on in ABoT. I think they've given me a lot of confidence in tackling something that feels so huge. I eat fanart. Like if I could print it out and just eat it I would.
But if I think more about ABoT itself, I think the structure of the story helps a lot with keeping my engagement. The parallel storylines help keep me from getting bogged down in anyone situation, or vibe, or anything. The A Plot (Reigen and Mob) is frequently tonally opposite from the B Plot (Ritsu and Teru) so most chapters have some balance of content.
I have a whole bag worth of Moments that I've had planned for ages that I'm excited to finally, finally get to. As well as Moments that naturally get cooked up and refined as I'm writing, which leads to a nice mix of old content I'm excited for, and new content I'm innovating on. (Like, the end scene of chapter 40 was planned in October 2021, while the end scene of chapter 41 was planned in July 2017).
Also, I'm writing the characters for me. Sometimes I worry about favoritism showing, and "oh should I balance certain characters more" but actually that doesn't matter if I'm just writing the story I want. I've honed in on characters I'm deeply invested in, and deeply care about.
And the content, and the humor, is for me too. All the jokes in ABoT are there because they're something I found funny. That made me laugh to write. It's validating when I've got people who find them funny too! But even if not, well I laughed! I had fun! I thought of it in the shower and went "that's hilarious" and wrote it down so I won.
And I think another huge thing is like... I've stopped trying to give myself harsh deadlines in an "oh people are gonna lose interest if I don't belt this out!" kind of way. I published NOTHING for 3 years. The people who were gonna lose interest have lost interest already. It happened. It's done. It's in the past. All that matters now is putting out into the world what I have to share that I otherwise would never have made if I let that 3 year hiatus go on forever.
It still takes discipline to sit down and write when I'm like "mehhhhhh what if I just browse askReddit for 3 hours?" But the difference is in like, enacting some discipline, vs. forcing myself to slog through something I've heart-and-soul burnt out on, motivated only by the fear of burning up into irrelevance if I'm not doing a constant monkey-dance for an easily-distractable audience.
Like I take steps back from ABoT when it feels like I'm getting a little burnt out. I do other things. Some chapters are 2 weeks apart. Some are 6 weeks apart. What's most important for me is just adjusting the pace such that I'm working on it in a way that my heart is in.
If I had to REALLY boil it down: I think it's that ABoT is a story I love, with characters I love, with planned scenes that make me excited, whose ending feels so emotionally fulfilling, whose effort feels rewarding (especially in quarantine times), whose plot caters to my interests, whose timeline for completion doesn't feel daunting, and whose readers have been exceedingly kind with their interest, praise, investment, analysis, and love for what I've got going on.
I'm at peace with the demons I dealt with trying to get this story into being. It feels like a nice jog to the finish line now, with some hills and bumps and challenges, but I know I can keep up the jogging pace, so regardless of how far out the end ends up being, I'm confident I can job along to it.

Prince Amane Yugi, Teru, and Tsukasa x reader part two❣︎
THIS IS PART TWO TO THIS
Warnings: None
Requested by @curtainhearts
A/n: Yay I really liked writing this and thought it deserved a part two!! Thanks for requesting part two!
I feel like Hanako is fluffy and Tsukasa is a bit yandere…? I’M SORRY-
Anyways, enjoy and have a good day/night!
You sat in the front of your house, waiting. It was dark and you held a small candle that didn’t provide much light.
“Hellooooo! I could get kidnapped any second!” You pouted “Are you just going to watch?!”
You heard a light chuckle from the dark.
“Were you seriously just waiting for me to show up~?” A familiar voice said. You heard footsteps and slowly saw the prince with amber eyes becoming clear in view.
“Yeah I did! And were you just going to watch me all night!” You pointed at him, still sitting on the ground.
“Of course not… I just got here!” He cheekly smiled, offering you one of his hands which you accepted. It’s been a couple months since the boy saved you from the alleyway. Over time he began visiting you and you two became close.
You later learned that he had no interest in becoming king. This came as a shock to you. Anyone would kill for his throne and he wanted to give it away? He told you once before that his parents never wanted his younger twin on the throne for reasons he didn’t say. So he was quite stressed out. That’s all he told you. He isn’t the type of person to vent, but you could tell this was deeper than it seemed.
“You know a pretty girl like you shouldn’t be out at night~” He leaned closer to you which you blushed too.
“Yeah well I wanted to…” You whispered and he grinned.
“Alight…” His grip on your hand became tighter as his grin grew wider “I have a place I want to show you!”
“Really? Where?” You asked.
“It's a surprise~” He stuck his tongue out and you rolled your eyes. He started to run with you, hand in hand, staying at a pace you could keep up with.
“Amane! Where are we going?” You catched up to him.
“I said it’s a surprise!” He turned to you for a moment. You pouted at him stubbornly but gave up.
After a while of running you ended up in front of a wall.
“Where are we Amane?” You traced my hand along the wall feeling every carving in it.
“It’s the castle wall.” Amane said and your head quickly turned to look at him.
“T-THE CASTLE WALLS-?!” You screamed but stopped when you saw the smirk on his face “Why would you bring me here..?”
“I want to show you something inside the walls!” He put his head on the back of your head and pushed you into his chest. Before you could react, a small white orb with red in the middle circled you two. Before you knew it you were inside the castle garden. You looked around for the wisp but it was gone.
“How…?” You questioned.
“Cool right! This is the castle garden! Isn’t it beautiful?” He looked around. The dark cloud that was covering the moon faded away revealing a beautiful scene. You followed his gaze to see beautiful flowers lined up in place. The moon hit off the flowers giving it a small glow to it. A small pond made a calming sound as the water flowed through a small man made creek.
It was… gorgeous…
“It’s beautiful...” You turned to him.
“I thought you might like it here, I think it’s a beautiful place to look at the stars” He smiled, hugging you closer to him. He leaned on a tree with you in his arms. You blushed and leaned into his chest as you two looked at the stars. We sat there for a few minutes before he broke the silence.
“I want to tell you something y/n…” Amane said, his voice serious.
“What is it…?” You looked up at him.
“You have changed me in a big way… I am actually very excited to be king now because of you!” He smiled.
“Really?” You looked at him shocked.
“Yes really…”
“But you complained about being king often… why the change?” You turned so you were facing him. He smirked and placed a hand on your back, pulled you closer to him.
“I can’t wait to be king so I can change the rules in this kingdom so I can marry you!”
“Marry me…?” You looked up at him processing his words.
“Yes, I will make a king marrying a commoner legal, how does that sound~?”
Your cheeks instantly turned red.
“To marry me?! Why do you want to marry me..?!” Your cheeks only got warmer with every word you said.
“Because I love you”
Your e/c orbs shot up to his amber ones. He started to close the gap slightly as you felt his breath against your lips.
“May I..?” He asked, giving you a choice in the matter even though he was the prince. You nodded and he connected your lips with his. His lips were soft on yours. He slowly broke the kiss and looked at you.
“I love you y/n” He said a little above a whisper.
“I love you too Amane…”
“I’m glad…” He smiled.
The wind blew your h/c hair as you sighed. You leaned on your balcony rail and closed your eyes waiting. Ever since that day it was a normal routine for Teru to sneak out to see you. This tradition has been going on for around a couple months now and no one found out so far. You started to grow feelings for the boy but you couldn’t confess. I mean you are just a village girl, he’s supposed to marry a princess.
“Y/n!” Teru launched his red beads up to you. He climbed up and once he was inches away from your face you had a smug grin.
“You still never told me where these beads are from and what they are used for…” You said and he laughed.
“And like I tell you every time… magic”
“I don’t believe in magic!” You poked his cheek as he blushed slightly.
“Heehee, well I do…”
“Aw look, the prince believes in magic! So cute!” You continued to poke his cheek until he grabbed your hand.
“I think you are cuter~” He kissed the back of your hand and you blushed wildly.
He laughed and kept your hands interlocked with each other.
“You know I had a younger brother and sister, right?” He looked down at you.
“I do.” You smiled.
“One day I would love to introduce you to them!”
“Really?! Am I even allowed in the place?!”
“Of course… I would make sure you get in.”
“Omg that sounds so awesome! I can meet your siblings! You do talk about them a lot”
“Heehee, I do…” Teru rubbed the back of his neck. There was a brief moment of silence and you turned to Teru. He had a serious yet annoyed face as he looked down.
“Teru… what's wrong..?” You asked.
“Oh nothing, just stressed lately I guess.” Teru sighed and turned to you.
“Why?”
“My father wants me to marry a princess…” He trailed off.
“Oh.” You froze. Why… You knew you couldn’t necessarily marry him but you didn’t want to see him marry someone else.
“But I don’t want to marry any of the other princesses.” He looked into my eyes, “I want to marry you.” My cheeks turned bright red.
“M-ME?!” You asked.
“Yes. You are the first person to treat me as an actual person and not just a prince… y/n, will you please be my princess?”
“Woah woah woah! I can’t just marry you right now…”
“Oh right, don’t village people date first..?”
“Yeah…”
He nervously chuckled a bit.
“Princesses and princes don’t normally do the whole dating thing… most of us are set up with each other and if princes are lucky we get to choose a princess…”
“That sounds terrible…” I looked down.
“Y/n, will you date me?” He smiled.
“Yes!” You smiled happily blushing.
“And one day, with your consent of course, I will marry you.”
You smiled. Happiness filled you.
“Of course!”
You sighed as you opened the door of your small house. You placed your groceries on the table as you sighed from the long day. You heard a thud upstairs which made you look up.
Your blood went cold when you realized someone was in your house.
And it was from your bedroom.
You grabbed the small crossbow next to your table and slowly went upstairs. As you approached the door you loaded the weapon. As soon as you opened the door, amber eyes met yours.
“Heya Y/n! Cool weapon you got there!” Tsukasa smiled at you. Ever since that day in the alley, you saw him around town. But in your house… he has to leave.
You looked at him annoyed. “What the hell are you doing in my house?”
“I wanted to see you!” He slowly approached you even though you still had the crossbow in hand.
You sighed as you put the crossbow down.
“That’s good~” He kicked the weapon to the otherside of the room so you couldn’t get to it.
“So what do you want?” You scoffed.
“I wanted to see if you changed your mind!”
“Yugi… I already told you I’m not going to change my mind… I’m staying here.” You looked at him sadly. You didn’t just want to tell him no but you couldn’t just go with him.
“Come on y/n! You said that so many times... Just come with me!” He grabbed your hand and you backed away.
“Yugi I can’t just leave! I’m sorry but no.”
“No..?”
Before you could react further he pinned you to the wall.
“But I want you to say yes…” His bangs covered his eyes.
“I-I’m sorry Yugi… can you not..!” You slightly pushed him but he didn’t budge. He leaned in closer to you which made you blush a lot more. A smirk appeared and a giggle escaped his lips.
“I should be more gentle with the girls! Sorry!” He backed away. You started to make your way to the crossbow but stopped when a pair of arms went around your waist.
“Nooooo you don’t need that weapon~!” He pouted “I won’t hurt you~”
“Says the guy who broke into my house!” I looked down at him.
“Hehe sorry not sorry~!”
You rolled your eyes and leaned into his chest. He sat on your bed and you sat next to him.
“So will you come with me?” He leaned closer to you.
“No… why do you want me to come with you so bad anyways?” You turned to him.
“Because I love you!” He smiled. You blushed hard to which he smirked.
“I’m still not going with you ex-prince!”
“Can I stay here then~?” He whispered into my ear.
“Fine..! You can stay here but not for too long!”
“Yay!” He hugged you “I can sleep in y/n’s bed!”
“WAIT-”

I am THE BIGGEST Simp for Hanako and Akane (male). Could I please request a headcanon if what kind if yanderes they'd be?? I'm actually very curious about that
Yeees!!! Dear god, if you know me irl or have talked to me for more than an hour, then you'd know that Hanako could literally stab me and i would bow down to him like the god he is- thank you so much for this request anon
Hanako-Kun The Bathroom Ghost, Wonder No. 7
He's the type of yandere to be really possessive and over protective. A little delusional too.
He'll be absolutely positive that you love him, but also worry about Tsukasa taking you away from him.
Hell let you have a small bit of freedom, you still do need to do class! But he'll always keep an eye on you, whether it's him, sitting in class with you and telling you how much he loves you, or his hakujodai hovering over your shoulder
Can and will use his past against you if need be.
"Hanako, I think I want to break up with you. You're really clingy and overprotective." You say to the apparition.
"Y/N... Please don't leave me, don't be like everyone else.. I don't want to be all alone again." He forces out crocodile tears, sniffing and over all putting on a show of tears to guilt trip you into staying with him.
If for some reason you get kidnapped and try to escape, he'll use isolation as a form of punishment. He'll give you food and water once a day (enough for the full day dw) but that's it. He won't talk to you, he won't look at you, just walk I with the food and water and leave.
He'll only stop once you're basically begging for him to even look at you.
Hanako mostly does it because ha can't stand the thought of hurting you in the slightest.
As soon as you met Tsukasa, Hanako became even more protective.
He was so worried that you would like Tsukasa more than him and leave him for his twin.
He'll do anything to keep his twin away from you, even make up lies to paint his brother in a bad light.
He'll also be a very emotional yandere.
He'll come crying to you, sobbing that he loves you and that he'd do anything for you if he believes that you don't like him
He keeps a tight grip on you and everything you do, everyone you talk to. Everything has to be okayed by him
He's not going to punish by hurting you if you step out of line. No no no. It just means that you're not used to everything yet and that he just needs to give you more time
The only time he would hurt you is by accident. And he would hate himself for it. He'd think that he's becoming his brother and that he's a horrible person and keep his distance from you until you come to him
Over all he's probably exactly what you may expect from him being a yandere.
Akane Aoi, The Time Keeper

Now, if you've read the manga, you know that he already gives off slight yandere vibes.
He's a very clingy, obsessive and delusional yandere
He easily convinced himself early on into your friendship that you loved him as much as he loves you
Nothing, absolutely nothing can shatter that delusion.
You're flirting with someone else? Oh you! You just want to make him jealous. You kiss someone else? He has a hard time explaining that to himself but maybe you're just really close friends with them.
There's one line that you absolutely cannot cross though, and that's saying that you don't like him/you hate him.
He'll snap and kidnap you. Keeping you in his basement and eventually his room once you learn to behave.
He's really not one for punishments. His main ones are locking you in the basement then the room is a little too cold to be bearable while you can only wear one of his t-shirts and shorts and isolating you, only making any contact when giving you food and something to drink.
Once he kidnaps you and people notice that you're missing, he'll fake the sadness and torment that he really would be going through if he didn't know where you were.
Akane is a beautiful liar, fooling everyone.
Everyone except Teru Minamoto.
Teru knew what was going on from the start, but don't worry, he won't say anything. Not to the public at least.
He'll make off handed remarks to Akane about small things he notices
"I wonder where Y/N is. Maybe they're hiding away in someone's basement, away from the public eye." Teru says as his blue eyes scan over some papers in his hands.
Akane stops, his pen coming to a halt on his homework as he looks up at Teru. "Why would it matter to you? You weren't very close to them." The clock keeper says, slight venom lacing his voice.
Teru chuckles, keeping his eyes on the papers in front of him. "Oh I know. But I also know that you were very close to them. It makes me wonder. Why weren't you freaking out when they first disappeared, why did it take all of your class talking about it for you to notice? Seems like you're hiding something." Teru smirks softly as he looks up from his papers, scanning Akane's face.
Akane sighs, setting his pen down. "I really can't hide anything from you, huh, Minamoto?"
After that, he's a lot more cautious about his actions, not wanting anyone else to find out.
Akane is also one to try to give you as much affection as you can take without breaking down.
He'll come home from school and go straight to you, begging you for attention.
He'll do basically anything for your touch, make you food, let you walk around the house, and maybe even let you message one of your friends for a short time just for you to play with his hair.
Of course the messaging is heavily monitored. He wouldn't want his darling spilling any secrets, would he?
He really doesn't like hurting you. He will if he must, but it won't be anything permanently scarring or damaging.
Maybe grabbing your wrist a bit too harshly or tightening his grip on your shoulder but other than that he doesn't hurt you on purpose.
Sometimes, he'll just gaze at you lovingly, an absolutely lovestruck look in his eyes as he watches your movements.
He just wants a normal relationship with you.
Well, as normal as it can get with Stockholm Syndrome and obsessive traits.

Thank u for showing interest in this guys /gen @agendercryptidlev @doublebubbletriplethreat @evilsciencedotcom
ok its a little. long so i'll put it in a read more
Evidence #1: The series literally starts off with him mocking a romantic couple and not taking them that seriously as his clients and also he was constantly just making fun of their aesthetic appeal (their. their looks). It's clear that he doesn't see their relationship seriously.
Evidence #2: Although not all aromantic people are aplatonic, Reigen seems to be aplatonic in a way that he doesn't actively seek for platonic relationships and bonds with others out of genuine "wanting to know someone else more and be friends with them" and instead is more focused on his own work. Even his mentor-student relationship with Mob started out with Mob being the one to actively seek someone to help him with controlling his powers better. Reigen doesn't go around looking for people to befriend, but instead he just kind of knows Mob's friends Through Mob. Even Serizawa who he recruited was mainly cuz Serizawa protected him first. This is literally a big part of the Seperation Arc, Reigen was always way too focused on becoming someone great that he rarely paid attention to other people as potential friends unless the relationship has some kind of potential benefit for him. This doesn't mean he doesn't care about his relationships with others of course, he /really/ does, but his genuine kindness is usually still at least partially motivated by wanting to be somebody (who can help and inspire others).
Tl;dr: I don't think he's a loser for all his friends technically being middle schoolers it's just easier to have some kind of friendship with others if you have a mutual close friend to help it all work out ( a.k.a Mob) Also like its. Okay to not have friends. Sometimes you just wanna vibe with all these teenagers that you can be a mentor figure/good adult figure for them. Just some weird bastard uncle or older sibling / dad whatever
Evidence #3: His lack of experience in navigating romantic relationships. He's pretty sure the last time he dated was like, way back in high school or something right? (im not sure on this either tbh) And he really didn't seem interested when his mom talked abt setting him up with someone (which is not always a sign that someone is aromantic but really I don't think Reigen has thought about marriage, like, ever. Unless it's for tax benefits.)
Evidence #4: His go to relationship/confessing advice being something simple like "just communicate your feelings well" or "play hard to get" like he's not even trying to sound like an expert 😭😭 also when Mob was asking his advice on this matter he literally just read off of google and if that isn't one of the biggest aro moods I don't know what is.
Evidence #5: He has never been shown really "flirting" with anyone. If he has to play up his charisma when talking to clients well then so be it. He's really casual and professional about it too (by it I'm saying sensual massages or whatever the fuck he does....)
Evidence #6: Too busy thinking about how to get money to think about spending them all on dates with women or men or something
Evidence #7: This one is also what started the ace Reigen headcanons but the line "Is having a crush always related to sex? I don't really wanna talk to you about it." (Based Reigen btw)
Evidence #8: Honestly most of these "evidence" is just my own read of him and like. my own interpretation of course but. theres just something so Aro about a generally popular guy in his 30s not having a partner or a romantic relationship and he seems fulfilled and like, satisfied with that. I'm sure he really doesn't care about getting married. He's got Mob, Serizawa, Dimple, Tome, Teru, Ritsu (albeit reluctantly), he's got his emotional support friends/co-workers/people who genuinely care about him and look up to him because of his genuine kindness and pretty solid advice. He's got it all. Just some normal guy surrounded by espers and one evil spirit and also someone very similar to him personality wise (as some kind of daughter figure). It's neat.
Also I thought abt Ekuserirei QPR but at the same time I have a hard time visualizing Reigen in like. an Actual committed relationship with other people. I'm just kinda here man. But also Ekuserirei is genuinely such a fun dynamic so. yeah
Anyway thats my big brain thoughts on Reigen Aromanticism. all hcs are valid and if you disagree with me you can just, do whatever you want just not argue on my post thats just basic human decency ok thats all <3 💚💚 thank u for reading this far and have a good day everyone!! :]

#mp100#reigen tag#idk if this counts as meta analysis but . i just like thinking abt it#reigen arataka#mob psycho 100#reigen rambles#this is still just my interpretation/hcs. obvi

Hi! Could I request Twogami and Chef boy (separately) with a s/o who notices that they're insecure about their bodies so the reader showers them in compliments?
Y e s more love for these plush-size fellas!
..........
Twogami
Impostor looked at themselves in the mirror, deciding to disguise as you. Since you’ve never seen them in this form, they figured there was no harm in showing you first before heading to class.
Though, for some reason, they found themselves lingering in front of the mirror longer than usual. And as the seconds passed, Impostor could only stare, frowning slightly as they wondered if you’d be okay with this.
Would they accidentally offend you with their large size?
Time and time again, you’ve reassured them you didn’t care. And usually they didn’t care what anyone else said either. Though...every now and then, they still have doubts about themselves.
‘Why impersonate them, now? Look at you, you’re just an insult to how lovely [y/n]’s body truly is-’
“Hey Imp? What’s...you okay?”
“H-Huh? Oh...yes..” Impostor turned around, hugging themselves and looking down at the floor to avoid your gaze. “I..I just..”
“You doubting yourself again, huh?” You sighed, approaching them with a smile as you wrapped your arms around them. “C’mon, how many times have I told you? Being bigger isn’t a bad thing, it makes you softer and more huggable.” With a chuckle you rested your head on their plush shoulder.
They found themselves smiling as they returned the hug. “You..don’t think it’s a disgrace to-?”
“Not one bit. But don’t think you have to go to class as me..be whoever you’re most comfortable with.” After a few moments, you pulled out of the hug and you kissed their cheek, making them blush. “I’ll wait outside, okay?”
They nodded in understanding, and you headed out their dorm room, waiting a few minutes in the hallway before hearing the door click. Impostor walked out disguised as Byakuya.
“Long time, no see Twogami.” You chuckled.
They couldn’t help but smile a bit at the nickname as they took your hand. “Yes, well..let’s be on our way, shall we?”
.........
Teruteru
“How’s my sweet chef doing?”
“Ahah..f-fine as ever..but um...I’m a bit sweaty so..m-maybe it’s best to wait till I change outta dis uniform, yeah?”
You blinked in confusion as Teruteru removed your arms from his body. Usually he didn’t mind if you hugged him while he was cooking. Though given how his accent slipped, you figured something was wrong to make him suddenly reject your hug.
“But you don’t feel sweaty at all.”
“......”
“Teru-?”
“How do ya find anything appealing about my body?” He slowly turned to look up at you, tears welling in his eyes. “I-I know I ain’t got the best body in town but..I-I try to make up for it in other ways, right? Maybe..Saionji was right about me bein’ a fat, greasy, pig-”
“Okay, first of all anything Hiyoko says is plain wrong. And second..why are “pigs” used as an insulting term when some are actually really cute?”
“..wh-wha...??” The chef gawked slightly, though he blushed as you both hands on either side of his face, kissing his round cheeks. “[Y/n]..I’m t-tryna cook here but you’re makin’ me...feel things, y’know~”
“Well, I want you to feel anything but sad and insecure.” You reassured. “Because I love you exactly the way you are and I wouldn’t change a thing about you, sugar pie.”
With a small whimper, he broke down into tears and hugged you tightly. "G-Ghh..an’ here I-I was comin’ up with a smooth pickup line..” He managed to smile as he nuzzled into your chest. “But thank you, darlin’. I..I needed to hear that badly..”

It’s not easy hiding the fact that you can see supernaturals from your boyfriend.
Who is literally an exorcist.
When you both started dating, you agreed that no secrets would be hidden between you two, but if Teru knew that you could see supernaturals... things would get complicated very quickly.
Every time you passed the bathroom and saw Hanako in there while other people were around, you turned a blind eye.
Every time the Mokke try to give you a sweet from the classroom window sill, you averted your gaze.
It pained you to ignore the supernaturals that you have seen all of your life, but you simply just couldn’t risk how Teru would react if he knew that you interacted with them. You were very aware about Teru’s opinions on ghosts and supernaturals, especially about Hanako-kun.
Right now, you were walking with your boyfriend to your next class, chatting.
“Are we still down for getting lunch after school?” you asked curiously.
You could tell that he was already almost drooling at the thought of trying out the new cafe in town. “For sure. You know where to find me once school is out, right?”
Poking him in the arm affectionately, you said, “Under the tree in front of the school. We meet there every day, dummy.”
“I know, I know. I’ll meet you there as soon as I can, and then we can taste test their pastries.” He smiled at you. You let out a little ‘yess!’ as you linked pinkies with him.
Standing on your tippy toes, you pressed a tiny kiss to his cheek. “I’ll be waiting! Go ace the test that you were talking about!” you cheered.
Teru laughed and watched your form turn the corner, a fond look in his eyes.
He made a mental note to be quick while he got rid of that pesky ghost Hanako.
- - -
As you stood under the tree in front of the school, you worriedly glanced at your phone.
‘He’s already fifteen minutes late.. that’s longer then last time.’
You pondered on whether or not you should send him a quick text, your finger hovering over the send button.
you: hey, everything alright? those pastries aren’t going to eat themselves 😳👀
Sent.
‘Maybe he was just finishing up his test?’
But that didn’t make sense to you either. Your boyfriend was a straight-A student, who somehow always turned in his assignments first while getting perfect scores almost every time.
You couldn’t help the nagging feeling in the back of your mind, that... the supernaturals had something to do with his absence.
With your mind made up, you hurriedly placed your phone back in your pocket and made your way back into the school.
Peeking into all of his classes, you found that they were all empty, with the students and teachers having already packed their things up. The only exception was Tsuchigomori-sensei, who only quirked an eyebrow at you as you quickly stammered an apology for disturbing him.
The only place left to go was.. the rooftop.
As you climbed the stairs leading to the very top of the building, you could feel energy growing in the air, similar to electricity.
‘Shit, he couldn’t be--!’
Your hand flew to the rooftop door handle, revealing the very scene that you had dreaded the most.
“Teru!” You tried to yell over the crackling of lightning. But he couldn’t hear you with his back turned to you; all of his attention was on Hanako, who was currently speared to the ground by your boyfriend’s sword.
Even from a distance, Hanako’s struggling screams still rang in your ears, shattering your heart.
You couldn’t let him do this. You couldn’t let him harm a ghost just for being a ghost, who hasn’t caused any harm to the students.
“You supernaturals are all the same. Even if you promise not to hurt anyone, who says that your rumors won’t change? What will you do when you finally end up killing another person? It’s my job to stop that from happening--”
Tears welled into your eyes as you ran forward, wrapping your arms around him from behind.
“Teru, you need to stop this!” you begged.
For a moment, the lightning stopped and Teru tensed up.
“[Name]? What are you doing here?!” He whipped around to face you, shock written all over his face.
His eyes darted from you to the supernatural he had pinned to the ground. “Wait. You can see him?”
You looked away. “...We can talk about that later. But right now, can you please let go of him?”
“You know I can’t do that, [Name].” He said softly. “It’s for your own safety.”
Taking a deep breath to collect yourself, you said “Wait, Hanako hasn’t harmed anyone,” Teru opened his mouth to respond to that, but you continued. “Let’s talk about this somewhere else, and after that, you can decide if you still want to go through with exorcising him, okay?”
Your boyfriend took one look at Hanako’s puppy-dog eyes that screamed “please?”, then back at you, and sighed.
“Fine. But you have a lot of explaining to do, too.”
“...I know.” you confessed.
Teru took your hand and led you back to the doors to the stairs, before shooting Hanako one last cold glare, to which Hanako only closed his eyes and sighed with relief.
You both went your separate ways once you exited the building, an unspoken feeling left hanging in the air.
- - -
Your day ended with a blur, and Teru still hadn’t contacted you all night. By the time morning rolled around, you were beginning to think that your relationship with him had ended before you heard the doorbell ring.
It was still fairly early, and you were only dressed in a big t-shirt and some sleep shorts, but you answered the door nonetheless, only to find Teru standing there with a box in his hands.
“Umm.. May I come in?” He asked hesitantly.
You were (secretly) really happy to see him standing on your front porch, knowing that the tension between you guys could finally be settled.
As you invited him in, he sat down on a stool at your counter while you stood on the other side, leaning on the kitchen cabinets.
Teru nudged the box in your direction with his hand and looked away sheepishly with a blush on his face. “Here, I uh.. got these for you.”
You curiously opened the box to find...
“Pastries?”
His blue eyes looked up to meet your gaze and he gave you a gentle smile. “Yeah, I remembered that we were supposed to go try the new cafe together yesterday, so I thought that you might want to share these since... things got in the way.”
The corners of your lips quirked up as you took one of the pastries. “Thank you, Teru. That was really considerate of you.”
“And I also hoped that we could talk about what happened yesterday..” He trailed off.
You sighed, taking a bite of the pastry before beginning. “Yeah, I’ll start. I’ve been able to see supernaturals since the beginning. I didn’t tell you because, well.. I knew what you thought of them, and I didn’t want to put anything at risk.”
Continuing, you said, “I know that you come from a long line of exorcists, and I really didn’t want to interfere with your work, but some of the supernaturals, like Hanako, haven’t done anything to harm anyone. He’s even protected your little brother and Nene when they’ve been in trouble.”
Teru also took one of the pastries and munched on it, absorbing your words.
He noted, “Before I came here to talk to you, I also had a small conversation with my brother about that. Kou insisted that he would keep Hanako in check, as long as he didn’t hurt any of the students. And if it came down to that, then he agreed to exorcise him.”
He took a deep breath. “What I’m trying to say is that I’m giving both Kou and Hanako a chance to prove that Hanako is a safe supernatural. And if they fail, well.. then I’ll take care of it.”
“Teru,” You began with a smile tugging at your lips. “You don’t know how much I appreciate you doing that for us. I’m sorry for interfering in the first place.”
He gave you that familiar warm smile that made your heart skip a beat. “And I’m sorry too. From now on, no more secrets, okay?” Teru questioned.
“Definitely. No more secrets.”
Your boyfriend held his arms open for you and you rolled your eyes affectionately before letting yourself be held by him, both of you humming in satisfaction.
“Wanna go grab some breakfast in town to make up for yesterday?” He asked you, his voice slightly muffled.
“...is that even a question?”

Pizza and Wine
synposis : in which Teru finds out that he isn't even on your radar. Maybe he should be content with what he's already got. Maybe he can live with just being friends. based on a prompt from this post.
pairing : terushima yuuji x reader
WC : 1371
The pouring rain was a constant rush of sound behind Terushima. The old yellow sweatshirt he wore was soaked through, and his black joggers were in the same sorry state. By far the worst thing though was the wet socks. The squelch he felt with every step he'd taken made him want to crawl out of his skin.
The things I do for a friend in need, Terushima thought to himself. Ultimately he didn't really give a damn about the wet clothes. He was more concerned about you and your emotional state.
You'd been more or less ignoring his texts since yesterday. And he'd only bothered calling twice, but you immediately rejected those calls. Normally he would have let you be. After all, maybe you were just busy.
But call it a gut feeling, intuition about a close friend, or the fact the tone of your texts had changed -- Teru felt that he should go check on you regardless of your disinterest in speaking to him.
And that's why he now stood on your doorstep, box of pizza in one hand, bottle of wine in the other. Terushima kicked on your door again.
"I didn't get drenched walking to your apartment for you to say no to pizza," Terushima called through the closed door. "I have wine too."
Teru waited a beat longer before saying, "C'mon, I know you're sad so let me in, _____."
Just when Terushima was about to resign himself to eating pizza alone on the concrete floor, your door opened.
Well he was certainly right to have been worried. Even with the poor outdoor lighting Terushima could tell your eyes were red and puffy.
"Bro...you look like shit." Tact was certainly not Teru's strong suit. "Nothing a little food and wine can't help though."
You moved out of the way, and Teru strolled into your apartment. The place may as well have been Teru's second home. He was over to often that you'd given him a drawer for his spare clothes and toiletries. You'd reasoned it would be better then having to find him a ride home if both of you were drunk, not to mention most days he came over he'd be there until at least 3am.
The two of you met in college during your first semester, and for the past five years you hadn't left each others' sides. Most people often weren't convinced that you and Teru were only friends though. Which, understandable to a certain extent. Both you and Teru realized that people weren't convinced two people could be so close and not be dating. The intimacy you guys shared rivaled a handful of the relationships you'd witnessed in college.
That's not to say the idea of dating you had never crossed Teru's mind. Over the years, Teru had found himself wondering what it'd be like to date you. He imagined it wouldn't be a whole lot different than what you had now. Really the only difference he could think of was that he'd be able to kiss you. And kissing you certainly wasn't any sort of con in his book.
"Go get changed." Your voice carried the exhaustion he could lining your shoulders. "I'll get the food and stuff ready."
"Thanks," Teru said, ruffling your hair.
After drying off and changing, Terushima met you in the kitchen, a towel around his neck. You'd gotten glasses for the wine and had already started munching on a slice of pizza.
"So what happened?" Teru asked. He hopped onto the counter and you turned to face him. God, how much had you been crying? Face masks were definitely in your shared future.
"Always right for the throat with you."
"Well it's gonna suck talking about it no matter what, right?" When you didn't say anything Teru conceded. "But I guess I can let you get a glass or two of wine in your system first."
And for the next couple hours Teru did what he did best: he distracted you. He talked about his friends and a couple wild nights, he updated you on his family, and told you about some new clients he'd gotten this week. He got you talking about a new show you were both excited for and the newest chapter for a manga you both read. He'd even managed to get you to laugh a couple times.
At some point while reminiscing about college, you ended up doing face masks, and now you found yourself sat in front of the television. You were planted between Teru's legs on the floor as he combed through your hair and played with it.
As the conversation lulled and the movie continued on screen, Teru spoke up, his voice a little more gentle than usual. "So you wanna tell me what happened now?"
A beat, and then, "Maya broke up with me."
The pause of Teru's hand in your hair was the only form of shock he showed. Not because he expected it, but because he knew you didn't like people getting too riled up on your behalf. It drew too much attention to what you were feeling. "She say why?" he asked.
"Found someone up where she is," you said. The life had started fading out of you again. "Guess she got tired of the long distance thing."
Teru clenched his jaw. For the five years he'd known you, you'd dated Maya for four of them. Hell, things had always been going so well between you two that Teru assumed you and Maya would just get married. Even you had mentioned the possibility of marriage to Teru before.
"When'd things start going bad?" Teru asked.
"Couple months after she moved," you said. "Video calls just weren't cutting it anymore. I mean, why settle for that when you find someone you could be happy with that's also in the same city? At least that's what she said on the phone."
You let out a sigh, your body sagging. "I don't blame her though," you whispered. "I understand where she was coming from. Honestly....I hadn't been dong too well with the long distance thing either. But I'm still sad, you know? And frustrated. Like, so much time and effort is just gone now. Plus she at least has someone new. Meanwhile I'm just alone." You let your head fall to Teru's knee.
Though he could tell how taxing the conversation was on you, Teru was thankful to see that it seemed to be helping you. Getting your thoughts out of your head helped you work through things. It's something he'd noticed over the last few years. It helped you to slowly work your way back to yourself. And even though he knew you had a ways to go with properly healing, you were at least taking a step.
"Well, I may not be new but you still got me so you aren't actually alone." Teru grinned.
"I meant romantically, dumbass. Romantically I'm alone."
The grin faded from Teru's face. "I can be romantic."
"Teru, I love you, but you kinda suck at relationships," you said, turning to look at him. "You get spooked any time you think someone might be into you and then either distance yourself or completely ghost them."
Teru was quiet. You weren't wrong; he did get scared at the idea of being in a relationship. It wasn't a characteristic he often consciously thought about, but yeah...you were right. The idea of being emotionally intimate with people freaked him out when he knew that romantic feelings were involved. But...you already knew so much about him. You two had bared pieces of your souls to one another on multiple occasions. You knew more about him then anyone else probably did and you accepted every part of him. If it were you...well he didn't think he'd be as scared. If it were you he'd be willing to give it a shot.
But it seems for you that wasn't even an option.
His voice was full of faked nonchalance as he said, "Well, If you ever change your mind you know where to find me."
"Sure," you chuckled as you turned back to face the TV. "I'll keep it in mind."

Miya twins fight.
Who wins the first bout of the tourney?
I know, I've disappeared for awhile. And I truly am sorry, but life gets in the way, right? And that issue from summer 2020 has persisted and made life mostly...not worth appreciating. But I decided if I can push past the pain on the daily to do things I dont like, I can find a little bit of time throughout the month to do something I do also. Thus my decision to start writing for this once more came to fruition and I am able to present this chapter update. I don't think chapter 12 will be done until end of next month, but I think monthly updates should be agreeable as its better than nothing...
As Always, questions, comments, concerns, ideas and such are always welcome! Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy.

Chapter 11: Round 1A
You and Suga approached the stadium set up for the first round of the tournament, large crowds of Camelot’s citizens overtaking the grounds and standing around the tents put up for the fighters to use before and between bouts.
“Oi! Sugawara!” You’d heard called, both your friend and you turned to the person calling for his attention. “I was just sent to find you two. Kuroo wants you up in the space he’d prepared for Yuurei so you can enjoy watching the show as much as the residents of Camelot. Follow me if you will.”
Suga nodded before motioning for you to follow the attendant’s lead first. Both of you taking in the sights along your path.
The small flags and banners flying in the sky, attached to sticks or just held by the people attending the tournament, hearing the screams of excitement as passerbys tried to get into the stands--for what you presumed were attempts to get good positions to watch the fights that were about to begin--it was a lot to take in.
“Is it generally this crazy come tournament times?” Suga yell-asked the man weaving your pair through the throngs of civilians.
He smiled back at your companion before answering with his own scream, “Nah, we just haven’t had all the knights of Camelot fight in the same tournament in a long stretch, so this is a pretty big occasion for its citizens.”
You waved to Suga as you sent your question to his mind so he could ask for you.
“Ah, the Red Knight wants to know what the different flags are for, that everyone has!” He screamed just as your trio broke through the group still pushing for entry into the stands.
Futakuchi laughed as he pointed out the tents littered around the ground and then back to the flags, “Basically it’s who the citizen’s are rooting for to win.”
“Really?” Suga asked in disbelief, mirroring your expression despite him not being able to see your face.
“Yea, see. Different knights have those they prefer to work with, so the first time we’d had a tournament like this Kuroo set up groups for the people to pick and choose who they wanted to cheer on by their colors. And, to all our surprise the citizens got really into it.”
Futakuchi laughed, still leading your pair around to your destination. “Some are alone, like Teru’s, all his fans carry the mostly yellow flag and he gets the yellow tent. But others are one unit, so the people cheer for everyone, like Yamagata, Ushijima, Semi, and Satori. See their tent, the flags used to cheer for them are also purple and white.”
You laughed to yourself before nudging Suga to get his attention, then thrusted your chin towards Futakuchi to show you wanted to know who he had as cheerleaders, if any.
“Ha!” He cackled out, shocking the brunet leading you and making him face your friend questionably, “Does anyone cheer for you? Which color flag represents your fans?”
“Wow, rude. To think I went to all the trouble to make sure you two would be represented with flags and fans as well.” He tsk’d back teasingly in return, “Just so you know, I am grouped with Aone, so all the white with dark teal flags and banners represent our fans.”
Suga nodded, playing impressed at the statement, “Aone’s fans sure are nice to cheer for the King’s servant alongside him.”
“Yea, they are---oh shut up! You have no room to talk since none of Camelot’s citizens have even seen you fight!” It was funny that the other magician had initially taken Suga’s words as a compliment, only to realize he was still teasing and you appreciated that the pair could be so friendly with one another after only having met a week ago.
He stormed off and you followed once again. Only this time checking the other colored groups and trying to connect which colors indicated which knights.
Seeing the orange and black flags, you pieced together that those probably indicated people wanting to cheer for Daichi or Asahi as you’d watched them head into that tent. You’d seen Bokuto leave the tri-colored tent and assume that meant his fans were the ones carrying the black-yellow-and-white flags. You saw half white and half black flags but couldn’t think who that would mean since you hadn’t seen a similar tent around the grounds.
“Oh-!” Suga gasped out, backing up from accidentally ramming into a group of citizens running across the field to try a different entrance into the stands.
“Apologies Sir knight!” One of the men turned and yelled back, the white and turquoise flags sticking out of his pockets waving behind him as he ran further ahead. His friend stopped to give a more formal apology, “Sorry for running into you sir. We are in a rush to get inside before they close the gates for the first fight. Please forgive us.”
Suga smiled sweetly at the young man, thankful that he’d kept his helmet off after getting into his borrowed gear for the fight. “No problem, really. But can you tell me who your flags mean you’ll be cheering for?”
The boy’s eyes shined brightly as he explained their choice to win was the knight Iwaizumi, “He is one of the strongest knights of Camelot’s courts and definitely one of the most strategic fighters. He’ll for sure place top four if he somehow doesn’t win!”
“Oi!” Futakuchi yelled, hearing the praise for the knight. “Don’t you know you are speaking to Iwaizumi’s opponents for the day? Don’t go around spewing nonsense!”
The boy laughed, stuck his tongue out at the King’s servant and ran to catch up with his friend.
“Well, let’s hurry.” Futakuchi said to you and Suga, “Kid’s right that they will close the gates to the stands before the first fights begin. And they should be closing them in a few moments now.”
Finally arriving at the gate you needed to enter, you noted the giant black and red banner. Running the few steps to tap on his shoulder, you pulled Futakuchi’s attention from just leading you straight under the fabric lined passage.
“Oh, yea. I guess color wise, we told the citizens that red would mean our guests or Kuroo. Since he normally has a monopoly on the red flags and banners we just thought it’d be easier to group your pair with him. If you fight, someone will make an announcement to say not to use the colored gear.”
You bowed your head in thanks for the explanation and thought back to the half black and half white flags, which you hypothesized to mean the twins Atsumu and Osamu after having figured out everyone else’s fans’ colors.
“Well, here we are. You can watch the rounds you aren’t fighting in from there,” Futakuchi smiled at your pair. “This is the royal’s private viewing box, so there is a bit of a buffer between the seats and the crowd of citizens in the rest of the stands. And it splits the grounds so you should be able to see both fights easily.”
“Are you not staying?” Suga asked.
Futakuchi smiled before answering, “No, I have to get some things together between fights, and make sure Kuroo’s gear is all well and good before my own bout. You both enjoy though!”
With that, the attendant left down the passageway you’d just come. You shrugged to Suga before pushing back the curtain and stepping into the space you could view the fights from.
_____________________________
“Ah, welcome welcome!” King Kuroo called, seeing you come in the mostly enclosed space, “I have seats for both of you. Thanks for joining me!”
You nodded to be polite as you took one of the seats he wasn’t standing in front of. Suga took the seat on his other side and the King sat down again.
He waved his hand in the air and in the corner of your vision you watched the guards leave the space. “I am probably as excited about this as the citizens are. It’s been a good while since everyone fought in the same showcase, let alone fight one another so explicitly. And having our guests as prime competitors doesn’t hurt the excitement levels at all. How are you two feeling? Thrilled as well I hope.”
You shook your head despite the wide grin on your face, not wanting to give in to his animated-ness, but Suga just laughed and said, “Despite his reaction the Red Knight is just as delighted by all this fanfare. We look forward to the fights, both watching and participating. Thank you for your inclusion, your Majesty.”
Kuroo waved away Suga’s mannerisms and clapped his hands together before shouting for the citizens to calm themselves, “AAAAAHH-TEEEEN-TIOOON!”
After a short stretch of time where the people quieted one another down, he smiled at everyone in the stands, watched as their hands clutched around flags and banners that supported the knights they loved, and grew even more excited at what laid out before him. The twins stood just a few feet apart on one side, facing the king in full armor, one having a black box painted on his gear while the other had a white box painted on his. You couldn’t tell which twin was which with their helmets on, but you were excited to watch them fight. The other side saw two knights, also with blocks painted on their backs, one having a plain yellow box and the other purple with a white stripe crossing from one corner to the other. Using Futakuchi’s explanation from before you knew the knight with the yellow block had to be Terushima and having memorized the fighting line-up, the other had to be Satori. Another fight you should have your eyes on. You smiled to yourself, agreeing with Futakuchi that these two would be very entertaining.
“Let me just say, thank you! Camelot, your knights fight for their honor. Cheer for the winners, cheer for a good fight. Cheer for those you believe in as these are the men always putting their lives on the lines to protect your livelihood!” The screams across the makeshift stadium made you sense the amount of love and support the citizens felt towards the knights and Kuroo as their King. He held his hand up and waited for the crowd to quiet down once more before continuing. “Today we will also see our guests from the Red Knight Order fight our beloved Knights of Camelot! Be sure to wish them luck against our men!” The cheers carried across once more and Kuroo laughed at his own antagonizing words. “Then, last thing! Today’s bouts will be the first and second rounds. Tomorrow we will see the final three rounds that will determine the overall victor!” Another pause for cheers to circle the crowds, and Kuroo grinned from ear to ear before finally shouting out, “LET THE TOURNAMENT BEGIN! Fighters...START!”
As soon as the king shouted, one of the twins shortened the distance with the other and swung his shield, pushing his opposers’ sword out of the way as he moved to strike.
The attacked knight blocked the flying blade with his own shield before swinging his blade around to attack the headpiece of his opponent. Making a clean hit against the helmet before the knight could push his arm away with their shield.
The black marked knight spun with his sword out as he used the weight behind his shield wielding appendage to force the white marked knight to protect against the larger chunk rather than the thin blade, taking the hit from the sword against his back as the current attacker continued his spin.
Stepping onto his back foot, the white marked knight lifted his toe from the grounds and momentarily tripped the black marked knight, hitting his helmet with the shield as his opponent stopped himself from falling face first into the dirt from, and tried to protect himself from the pressure while getting up.
Standing up straight, the black marked knight pushed his arms out against those of the other and made a clear path for a strong kick into his twin’s abdomen. After getting kicked, the night steadied his footing and swung his blade at his brother. The force behind the swing was strong as the black marked knight barely deflected it with his shield, the audible thunk could be heard despite the screaming crowd.
The back and forth continued between the pair and you felt your vision get pulled to the fight opposite. Between Terushima, marked in yellow and Satori, marked in the purple and white.
You were shocked to realize that both knights carried two swords rather than a sword and shield. As Terushima swung one sword down from above his head, Satori crossed his blades to catch the attack’s force. Spinning out from the exchange and hitting away the opposite blade Terushima had swung at his side.
Satori swiped at the shoulder of his opponent with one blade only to be blocked, then maneuvered to swing his other sword at the greaves of his opponent, probably in hopes to get Terushima to fall to his knees in way of protection, but the yellow marked knight side stepped and half spun to catch the balde with his own and force it into the ground.
Watching the two fight, you felt like you were watching an elegant dance. The pair played off one another with ease, obviously it wasn’t their first time facing off against one another. You waved to catch Suga’s attention but realized quickly that your friend was entranced watching the pair you’d just pulled your eyes from.
“It’s hard to pick who to watch, isn’t it?” Kuroo asked you, seeing you wave to your companion. All you could do was nod as you brought your sight back to the twins’ fight.
The black marked knight had just rolled to avoid the downward swing of the white marked knight’s blade, and you realized he must have fallen over while you were watching the other pair.
“Sugawara is watching Teru and Satori, perhaps you should watch the twins and you both can compare notes later.” Kuroo leaned in and whispered to you, probably to be heard over the shouts of the audience, but it still caught you off guard. You held your thumbs up to indicate you’d heard him but kept your helmet facing the twins’ fight so as to not feel embarrassed from having someone other than Suga be so close to you, even if it was only for a moment.
The black marked knight stood once more and threw his shield out of reach, this made you realize that the white marked knight no longer had his shield either and you wondered if throwing the shield aside was meant to say they would fight in the same manner.
The white marked knight seemed to get angry by this action and rushed the black marked knight. Blade swinging in cross cuts and varying angles as he tried to overwhelm his opponent who was now only dodging and shielding with his own blade.
You blinked and suddenly the attacker was on the defensive as the black marked knight was striking just as fiercely as he’d defended against. The sparks flying from the connecting metals washed around the pair as if a shining rain was falling around them. It was beautiful to watch, even if it was a different beauty than a fight that resembled a dance.
The bout continued, and with a harsh swing up along his chest plate, the white marked knight swiped away the helmet around his brother’s head, showing everyone who was whom in the fight.
Osamu shook his head out after getting his helmet knocked off before adjusting his footing and holding his blade with both hands, ready once more for an attack from his brother.
Atsumu rushed his twin, blade just below his navel as steady hands held it ready to swing in either a straight or upward trajectory. Turning his back to let his pauldron catch the attack, Osamu bent down in a half squat. Realizing too late to resist the caging, Atsumu could only feel as his brother wrapped his arm under his leading foot and over his swinging arm as he was lifted into the air before being released and flung to the ground.
He coughed against the dirt as he swiped his gloves at his helmet to get the obstructing metal out of the way of his airways.
Osamu however, just righted his footing, and stood ready to attack or defined with his lone sword once more.
The blonde twin seemed to growl through his clenched teeth as he staggered to stand again, dragging his sword to use as a prop-up, before readying himself.
You felt eyes on you and glanced at Osamu again, watching as he smiled to Kuroo before loosening the grip on his sword’s hilt, even as his twin screamed out and rushed him. You felt yourself stand and grip the edge of the private viewing box you were in, as you watched the gray haired twin turn a serious face back towards his opponent but not take a stronger hold against his blade.
Atsumu swung in an x pattern over and over again, and watched as the sword in Osamu’s hands began to falter until he parried around it, knocked his twin back onto the hard ground with a shove, and held the tip of his blade against his opponent's neck. “Do you concede, Samu?” The blonde asked teasingly, believing he’d won the bout.
Osamu just smiled as he pushed the blade away from his collar, “Yea yea Atsu, good job.” The blonde twin laughed before standing and holding out a hand to help his brother up as well. Both men waved in appreciation to those who’d cheered for them, but then Osamu stepped back to allow his brother to accept more praise as the winner.
You shook your head in disbelief as you returned to your seat.
“Hard to believe, isn’t it?” Kuroo asked you, but you just looked at him, pushing for further information. “Osamu always lets Atsumu win these things because he doesn’t care about the fanfare or being called the strongest. He just wanted to fight alongside his brother and help him achieve his dreams. I’ve never actually seen him fight to his fullest extent against his twin.”
It really was hard to believe, but thinking upon it further you felt you kind of understood. Looking at Suga’s smiling face as he watched the other fight that still continued, you knew he’d probably thrown more than a few fights during your training sessions to encourage your own working towards your goal. You appreciated your cousin even more from that thought, but only moved your attention to the fight that was still going.
Terushima’s blade crossed parallel to one another and the ground against Satori’s breast plate, forcing him to take a few steps back to protect his arm from getting caught by the attack. Satori spun, both arms outstretched as his blades extended his reach and they twisted, pulling dirt up from the tip sending the earth into the sky as his turning angled the blades opposite one another, in a move to try and kick up the dirt as cover, though light as it would be.
Both fighters stood, they seemed to catch their breaths as the dust around them began to settle. After his short pause, Satori went on the attack and swung his blades against Terushima’s helmet, the defender just a bit too slow in reacting to place his blades between his opponent and his protective gear. He turned his swords to sit against his shoulders as he steadied his upper body and kneed then kicked Satori away from him, causing the purple marked knight to retreat a few steps and attempt to stop himself from doubling over. He went on the attack again but moved too quickly, as he started falling from tripping over a protruding rock, Terushima kneeled down and swung the falling knight over his shoulder, making him land on his backside and crossing his own blades over his opponent’s neck. Trapping Satori against the earth unless he wanted to risk the blades cutting the chainmail against his collar.
Satori tapped out against the blades crossed above his neck, giving the victory to Terushima who jumped and yelped in his excitement before removing his blades and helping his friend to a standing position.
“Good fight Satori, but you lost again!” You heard the tease despite the blonde still sporting his helmet.
Satori ripped his own protective gear from his head before tsk’ing in response, “We’ll see how long this sudden winning streak lasts you, Teru. Just wait and see.” Moving to leave the grounds in front of the onlookers, Satori grumbled to himself about how he really did not want to deal with the new recruits after all. Terushima followed his friend out of the main arena, but laughed at his expense. Sending out teasing comments to antagonize him further. The pair disappeared down the tunnel of the exit and you finally turned to the King and Suga beside you.
“Well that was entrancing!” Suga exclaimed excitedly, “I’m sad I couldn’t tear my eyes from them, I wish I could have seen the twins’ fight also!”
Kuroo laughed before saying that he understood what your friend meant, “I told the knight to watch their fight solely because we both recognized you were already pretty attached to watching those two face off against one another.”
You smiled behind your helmet but nodded in agreement with the King’s statement.
“Well didn’t you two become chummy while I was distracted.” Suga teased you point blank, “Maybe I should cheer for Asahi during your match. We are childhood friends after all.”
Rolling your eyes, you held up an L sign with your hand, indicating your feelings towards his tease which caused your friend to laugh and Camelot’s King to mumble in confusion not knowing what was going on between your pair.
“Fine fine, I’ll keep my mouth shut for your fight. But do try and take it easy on him.” Suga caved to you, laughing out against your motions.
“Take it easy? Hells no!” The King shouted, facing you with a grin and a hint of mischief dancing in his vision, “I want you to beat that late comer like he is fresh cow manure. It’s his punishment anyways.”
It took all your concentration to not laugh out at Kuroo’s words, but you just nodded before exiting the partitioned area and moving to enter the main arena from the tunnel the prior fighters had just left through.

I’m doing my entry about the third week super late, but here I am anyway.
I randomized it based on novel 10, that’s what I got when I made the post, and got a 7.
Dun dun dun, I got the chapter when Conrart pushed Yuuri into the sea! xD I just read a couple of lines and I was like man what a chapter hahahah. This is the one with the big misunderstanding xD
Novel 10 - Chapter 7 - Live commenting
Yuuri’s so calm when he’s in the water, but he was scared of the sea when he was on the ship just moments ago, it’s noticeable his connection with this element. Until Jozak tries to save him, almost ripping his arm off with a rope, and then he breathes and chokes with water, making him a mess when he’s back on the deck. He later admits he was scared to death, but still, it’s a nice mental picture of a really calm scene of him underwater when everything outside is a mess.
Here I found a small detail I didn’t remember. Yuuri first says the sea is super calm underwater and very dark, but at the moment when Jozak pulls him up he talks about two forces, the one upwards and a whirlpool. We all know that Conrart tried to push him to send him back to the other world, but I always had the impression it was not going to work anyways, but it seems it was working actually. If there was a whirlpool then it means the traveling was starting and Jozak interrupted it extracting Yuuri just at the right second. Even if Yuuri calls it “the force of nature” and never thinks about traveling between worlds, all the details are there to make conclusions. Yuuri’s really convinced he was safer at the deck of the ship, but I’ll give this one completely to Conrart, pretty nice idea to send him away from danger but it was the worst way of doing it. Even so, if he would say to Yuuri “go back, it’s safer” he wouldn’t listen, so I get where he comes from just pushing the kid and be done with it.
Jozak here says Yuuri’s usual handsome image is ruined because he’s throwing up water by the mouth and nose, and he complains he’s not handsome to begin with. I really like how casual is everyone in the other world about Yuuri being so good looking xD
Yuuri only jumps into conclusions about Conrart in his mind, but the moment he mentions he was alone with him when he fell Jozak goes berserk and threatens him with death. He’s surprised he ended in this position because we know Jozak knows Conrart since forever. But after reading all the info about these two, I can understand why he’s acting like this, they were close, but Cornart never let him be that close. Every time I’ve read a flashback about their friendship, there’s always a barrier between them set by Conrart. And he ends up acting like guilty of the charge of muder when he's only silently accepting he pushed him, but with no explanations there’s no other end for this than Yuuri thinking he tried to kill him.
Things are so emotional, aw. Yuuri remembers every time Conrart saved him in the past, and his final sacrifice when everyone thought he was dead. I know they’re in a mess of a situation, but with all that info if you do 2+2 you should suspect there’s something else going on. But Yuuri just rips the maseki from his neck and throws it to the floor for extra drama. I love this hahahah. And Saralegui enter smiling without a care in the world XD
Saralegui is asking for the maseki and Yuuri has the time to talk how good he looks fixing his hair hahahahaa.
I just love soooo much how everyone tries to check about suspicious things given to Yuuri. In this case Jozak is all girly asking to see the pink ring Saralegui gives to Yuuri for the trade of jewels. There was also that other time Wolfram even smelled a cloak Saralegui gave him to check if something was off, but I don’t think Yuuri understood what Wolf was doing comparing it with this time when he totally gets Jozak acting. He’s learning or he was just distracted with teru teru Wolf xD
Yuuri is awesome in this chapter, he’s always careful about what he says and what not in front of Sara. When Jozak confronts Conrart again with the knife if he tries to get close, Yuuri has to middle like before, but he can’t say anything too personal.
Interesting bit here, I’ll paste a quote:
“My arm hurts, if only Wolfram or Gisela were here now~”
“Can’t you heal it yourself? Young Master, isn’t your maryoku really strong?”
“I heard it was dangerous to use maryoku on human lands, and we’re approaching the country of the shinzoku no less! Murata and Wolf keep telling me again and again ‘don’t push yourself’, I’m sick and tired of hearing it.”
“Is that so~ Well, that’s inconvenient, huh~”
So, I understand from this that you can use healing maryoku on yourself. I think we discussed this in the blog, and I can’t remember anyone using majutsu to heal themselves so I always doubted if you could do it or now. I’ll update my headcanon and say, yes you can.
Aw the ending of this chapter is so sweet. Jozak is waiting to see if Yuuri will cry or not, and he’s following his excuse of the pain he feels in his arm and all, but they both know what hurts is not that T_T
It was an awesome chapter I got! I’m very happy I re-read this.

Death Note: The Glorious Manga Ending (And the anime that failed to deliver)
Well, this is certainly something a tad different from my usual affairs. Yes, I'm delighted to bear the news that I am taking a break from writing sub-par fanfiction and selling weapons to Middle Eastern terrorists in order to follow something a little less creative, but more immediately interesting to me in my current time of writing. I mean, hell, there's probably a 60% chance that no one will ever read this, since I'll likely drop it halfway through and go back to my black market dealings. But, in that small 40% chance that I do get this out the door, or indeed any further than this very sentence before I forget about it for all eternity, then I want to have a little discussion, a fun little analysis. And of course, I'm going to analyse everyone's favourite slice of life fluff comedy, Death Note. Specifically the ending and how I think the manga surpasses the anime in many, many ways.
If you haven't yet read or watched Death Note, then you won't be reading this anyway, so it would be rather pointless at best and an insult to your intelligence at worst to give a recap of how the series works. If you must have a layman's explanation, big murder book gets dropped into the human world, shenanigans ensue. There, now go watch or read it for yourself. Preferably read, as I am about to discuss. The manga is far better, entirely because of the second half. It's no secret that the Death Note anime handled the second half poorly. Content was cut, elements were skipped, scenes were changed entirely and Near, my favourite character from the manga, was done so dirty that he generally ranks as many people's least favourite, for some understandable reasons and others that I consider rather weak. But the main part of the second half aside, I want to talk about the final showdown, the confrontation in the Yellow Box warehouse, and how I feel the anime adaptation butchered a near-perfect ending for the sake of either time, or budget, or maybe to appease Light fangirls (because that definitely has a factor in why I don't like the anime's ending as much.)
So, to recap, most of the confrontation at the warehouse between the SPK and Kira plays out very much the same. Mikami writes the names down, Light reveals himself, the notebook is revealed to be a fake and Yagami has his famous mental breakdown, followed by one of the most powerful lines in the series:

(Note: I condensed the speech to fit neatly into two boxes)
I love this speech. I think it's one of the best in the series, for reasons that very much tie into why the ending in the manga works better. I want you all to think for a moment; I've seen a lot of people say Death Note is a series that doesn't take sides on the conflict. No, that is bullshit. In the early series, maybe, but from the moment Light Yagami killed Naomi Misora, and arguably even earlier than that with Raye Pembre, he was consistently portrayed as being more and more callous, more evil, more of a scumbag. Let's look over what he did, especially in the later stages of the series.
He:
Murdered the FBI agents tailing him.
Only expressed regret over Utika's death because it may negatively affect Kira's reputation.
Watched with no emotion as his father died and indeed, encouraged him to use the Death Note moments before he died.
Mocked Matsuda for mourning his father's death.
Manipulated two seperate women into doing his bidding (albeit, one was unintentional) and killed one himself, with plans to kill the other had he not been killed.
Instigated a riot in New York with the intent of killing Near and the SPK.
Killed FBI agents who were tailing him.
Only cared about Utika's death because it compromised Kira's strong public image and not because he was actually a good man.
Manipulated two seperate women into falling for him (albeit one was accidental) and promptly killed off one with no hesitation, with plans of killing the other had he not met his end first.
Watched emotionless as his own father died and even tried to get him to use the Death Note in his last moments.
Mocked Matsuda for mourning the death of his father and used it in a last ditch effort to distract the detective and escape.
Staged a riot with the intent of killing Near and the rest of the SPK.
And these are just some of them. By the end of Death Note, Light was not a good person. I personally never agreed with him, but he went from a disillusioned kid with a minor saviour complex to A full-blown, sadistic, perverted image of what he used to be, utterly unfeeling and cold-hearted, with a major God complex, a complete lunatic. As Near said, a mass murderer and nothing more. After everything Yagami's done over the course of the series, it was just too satisfying to read this for the first time, and I will concede, the anime did a great job adapting it. I feel a lot of Light fangirls agreed with him because his ideals sounded good on paper, but in reality, they're completely childish and self-serving. I am not one to moral grandstand, I believe those who take any excuse to give lectures about morality are annoying and often hypocritical scum, but my point here is that this is not a man any reasonable person could agree with if he were a real person. So, this teardown of his ego was perfect.
Now, the first big difference is the ultimate fate of Teru Mikami. In the anime, he kills himself in the warehouse, in a scene that makes me laugh every time due to the comically large quantities of blood spewing from him. He dies defending Kira's ideals, believing in his God. Or, if you choose to interpret it another way, he has accepted that Light is not God, and he has nothing else to live for. Either way, the anime lacks a key scene, after Light is shot by Matsuda and begging for help:

This is extremely important, as it continues what Near did with his speech and sets in motion the following trend for what is to come. Light is humiliated, his second most faithful pawn has turned against him, called him scum, seen him for what he truly is, and worse still, he's done it in front of everyone else. Teru Mikami has denounced his God, and this is just the stepping stone for the humiliation Kira is about to suffer. Also, it's worth noting that just before Mikami denounces Kira, there's a scene of Light crawling on the ground, bleeding, calling out for Misa and Takada to help him, seeming to have gone totally delusional, forgetting that Takada was already dead. This may have been excluded from the anime, or it may have been the fault of the subs I was using. It still serves as a vital part of the theme that the final few chapters hammer in, over and over again, that being the complete and total humiliation of Light Yagami. And the worst for our criminal-killing protagonist is still to come.
Finally, we reach the fate of the original Kira, the end of Light Yagami. In the anime, he uses Mikami's suicide as a distraction to escape, wherein he runs off, seeing visions of his past self, and dies out in the middle of a staircase, from a heart attack delivered by Ryuuk, calmly and quietly. This is all very nice and emotional, we see for a moment, Light contemplates what he became and wondering how it could have ended differently, and him dying in the middle of the staircase, as many people have stated before, is oh so very symbolic of how he finds himself unable to reach Heaven or Hell. However, this does not hold a candle to the manga.
This is what Light is like upon his death there:

Yeah, there's no real doubting it, he's going out like a complete bitch. Like the anime was thoughtful and silent, with an underlying sombre soundtrack, in this the once great Kira is reduced to a blubbering mess, throwing a tantrum because he refuses to accept his time is up. It was made very clear to him at the beginning that he was to die at Ryuuk's hand one day and now that it's here, he can't take it. He tries to cheat death, the one thing no human nor Shinigami can do. I mean, just look at the panels. He's a mess. A privileged, pampered brat who isn't getting his way. That is why I consider the Death Note manga ending to be superior to the anime in almost every way. While the anime gives us symbolism and a sense of calm, the manga goes all the way in tearing down this character, who has been a piece of human garbage for years at this point. I find it so satisfying to watch him get what he deserves, not only the death but the shame.
Light's own hubris and mental instability stole from him the honourable death he received in the anime. And that is everything I believe he needed, far more than the mere reality check he was given in the anime.
Phew, damn this was a ride and a half to write. I always appreciate feedback, if anyone wants to share their own thoughts on the ending. Please do feel free to do so, and I'll hopefully be back soon with your regularly scheduled shitty fanfics.

Spoon.2Di April 2019 - Character Designer Kameda & Director Tachikawa’s MP100 Interviews + Design & Episode Notes
Here’s Character Designer Kameda & Director Tachikawa’s interviews from Spoon.2Di April 2019 - contains some notes on certain episodes from season 2 & some extra character design notes. Very short and sweet; includes comparisons made between Reigen & Spike, and entirely new Mogami design notes.
INTERVIEW Character Designer Kameda Yoshimichi
Kameda is asked what was a challenge for him with Mob Psycho 100 II. “I suppose I wanted to make sure the art didn’t change from how it is in season 1. [...] I’ve seen it in other anime; when a second season or so on gets produced, the art changes... the atmosphere shifts a little from how it is in the manga. You end up with a work that’s meant to be a sequel, but looks and feels like something else entirely.”
He’s asked about any events that happened during production that left an impression on him. “Fujisawa-san who covered storyboard production for episode 3, Haku-kun [Go Hakuyu] who did storyboard production & was the animation director for episode 5, Nakamura-kun who was animation director for part B of episode 10, Tsuchigami-kun who did storyboard production for episode 11… they gave us episodes that have plenty of highlights, but also brought on board pretty much all the key animators!”
He's asked what part of Mob Psycho 100 has stayed in his heart, and the reason. “At the end of S2E7, Mob-kun says, ‘Shishou, happy birthday.’ When I watched that part, I was on the verge of tears. To be congratulated on your birthday by the person you wanted to hear it from the most… I’m so glad. Good for you, Reigen!!”
He’s asked to give a message to readers. “At last, we’ve reached the end of season 2!!! Sad, isn’t it! I’m sad too! We’re all sad! I don’t want it to end, but for the time being, the anime is reaching its final episode! Please enjoy it right up to the end!!! However, the manga is still continuing through the spin-off - the world of Mob Psycho 100 continues to expand! If you continue to give us your support, perhaps we’ll be able to continue the anime!! I patiently await that day!!”

MOGAMI KEIJI - DESIGN POINT
"Mogami was the first character I designed for this season. He appears in one cut in season 1 - I think as a result of that I didn't really struggle with him, despite only drawing him once. His suit has the same texture as it has in the manga, giving him a special feeling, but his existence is somewhat of a sad one. So I was careful in making sure he didn’t appear too lively.”
SERIZAWA KATSUYA - DESIGN POINT
"With a hanten on top and jinbei below, I gave Serizawa clothes that'd pretty much completely hide the silhouette of his body. I'll be glad if you're able to understand that he doesn't enjoying fighting just by looking at his clothes. I already knew that Serizawa was popular with manga readers, but I was shocked to find out that this unpolished, fluffy-haired version of him is popular too. How unexpected (laughs)."
SUZUKI TOUICHIROU - DESIGN POINT
As written in the design booklets albeit a little more casually

STORY PLAYBACK
MOGAMI KEIJI ARC - EPISODES 4 & 5
Tachikawa’s comment: “Mogami is depicted as a character meant to contrast Mob. The critical thing that differs between them is the kindness of the people around them. We paid attention to stuff like his lines and how we portrayed him. We struggled with balancing the amount of serious stuff there is… it was difficult.”
Kameda’s comment: “Go Hakuyu-kun, who covered storyboard production for episode 5, included a lot of his own original settings. I tried to not disturb him too much, lol. He let me help out a little in the bit where we see Teru, Ritsu-kun, Reigen etc.”
WHITEY ARC - EPISODES 6 & 7
Tachikawa’s comment: “Reigen’s expressions. We adopted the use of a spinning camera many times in episode 7 in order to show Reigen’s face. Count them if you’d like; the final one transcends time and space (laughs).”
Kameda’s comment: “Due in part to me being animation director for episode 7 I have a big emotional attachment to it. I paid more attention to facial expressions than movements. It’s an episode in which Reigen & Mob-kun’s relationship develops, so it’s a part I’ve wanted to animate ever since I read the manga. Tachikawa-san was also very enthusiastic when we looked at the scenario & storyboards - I didn’t want to lose to that enthusiasm!”
CLAW ARC - EPISODES 9-12
Tachikawa’s comment: “Depicting the Ultimate Five and Suzuki was difficult. We aimed to show off what makes each of them charming in the space of time we had. At any rate there’s plenty of characters, and of those characters plenty of them are loved, so the whole process of figuring out just what we should do left an impression on me (laughs).”
Kameda’s comment: “I was the animation director for episode 12, but the scene in which Reigen and Suzuki face off was done by Cowboy Bebop’s character designer Kawamoto-san. Because of that, when Reigen is holding up the gun he looks like Spike - super nice! I left that as it is. The only thing I made altercations to was Mob-kun’s beaten up form, lol.”

INTERVIEW Director Tachikawa Yuzuru
Interviewer mentions that in a previous interview with Spoon.2di, Tachikawa said that Mob Psycho 100 is a welcoming work so there’s stuff left that they can challenge. He’s asked to revisit that statement now that S2 is ending. “Season 2 contained things that we avoided in season 1, like a certain level of seriousness and realism.”
His previous comment of Mob’s growth and Reigen’s uchizura [more hidden, private self] being highlights is brought up, and he’s asked his thoughts again. “Reigen coming face to face with the problem that plagues his uchizura - ‘who am I’ - and trying to move forward ... depicting that touched me. Mob’s ‘people can change’ is a phrase Mob would’ve internalised from Reigen’s words. As a result, much like Reigen saved Mob, Mob has saved Reigen. I think they’re a great combo. ‘Be a good person - that’s all!!’ has become a famous saying!!!”
He’s asked about any events that happened during production that left an impression on him. There were moments when, depending on the scene, they’d use 20 cuts - ie. the equivalent to one episode of a TV show. He also mentions the amazing work of the young animators who joined them for season 2, and the degree of freedom that Mob Psycho 100 offers.
He’s asked about the performance of the voice actors, and anyone whose performance left an impression on him. “In particular, Dimple when he possessed Gouda was so cool. That performance had me shivering (laughs).”

Finally, he’s asked to give a message to readers. “We’re approaching the final episode. Of course, pay mind to the end of the story, but I find Mob’s growth in particular to be something moving. Please be sure to enjoy the final episode in real time. I’m very happy for all the support we’ve been given! And please continue to support Mob Psycho 100!!!”

GO READ CICADA SUMMER
@spades-queen
So I wanted to write down my thoughts about Cicada Summer. Which oh gosh if you love Hanako at all please just go read this. You won't regret it! I PROMISE YOU!
I’ll put this under read more now cause I don’t want to spoil anything for anyone . So just know spoilers are under the read more.
I feel I should say this just beforehand though these are just my personal thoughts and i’m not really good at holding back my emotions. If I love something I let you REALLY know I love something and cry over the simplest details if they mean something to me. I may not have interpreted everything in the way you wanted them to be interpreted as the writer OR I might have thought a character was an OC or like that cause I am not fully caught up on the manga (I’m on ch 61 as of rn) and fair warning my grammar is horrible sometimes and my key pad keeps freezing so apologies for that in advance. Ok with that out of the way please allow me to gush :,))
This took me forever to put into words and I scrapped this twice but I think I’m just gonna go with it this time. This is a jumbled mess but my thoughts just can’t stay in a straight line today for some reason. So we’re just gonna run with this. I mean this in the nicest possible way when I say THIS FIC IS BREAKING MY HEART! I love it! I love it I love it! But the PAIN I feel and the immersion when reading these chapters is like I’m also there wandering adrift with Amane at night. Feeling the crushing weight of everything and so so empty. (Probably doesn’t help I was up till 5 am reading this the other night)
But the way you write completely does that for me!! TSUCHIGOMORI again I mean this with all the love but GOSH I CAN’T! The torment you are making him feel! (Secretly slow claps 👏🏻 in the background) Yes I love the pain. I love the genuine emotion from all this! But I won’t deny my eyes were watering. Really watering I can’t remember the exact scenes but at times there was this big lump in my throat.
I have to confess how much I love canon. I know I know it’s not something most people love. But I do I really am strange I just love more then anything either deleted scenes to canon or something that could basically be canon. I know that’s a dangerous line to tread and I’m not saying I don’t love AU’s but I just have a special place in my heart for origins and deleted scenes. The problem with most of those though is they are so out of character.. or there’s just this one particular thing that bothers me. I’m really not trying to over gush.. but really I can’t see anything that seems off (And I’m using a telescope) Your characterization is SO GOOD! Not only the characterization but the characters actions don’t seem out of character either! You really really know how to get into the minds and view points!
Particular scenes like When Tsuchigomori is talking to that kid in class who “lost” his jacket and trying to break up their argument over the ghost discussion. It’s such a not important example but it’s so true to tsuchigomori! Even scenes like that I see them in a film strip play out in my mind. His expressions and attitude about even that small exchange. That’s when you know your writing it top tier for even scenes like that.
Another example is when Amane first spots what he thinks is a white weird looking cat and meets Yako. The way you write her.., sorry I just could go on it’s brilliant!
(Ok I’m staying more focused now)I also wanted to bring up the level of significant detail. Well personally I think these are significant details cause they are a few things I latched onto and wanted to expand on this ...
I’m just gonna list them. Like I said this is a bit jumbled but it’s the best way I can get my genuine thoughts out about this.
1- There’s this scene in actual canon that makes me have a similar feeling about the timing in how you write so I’m just gonna talk about that first. It’s the scene in the Book Stacks Arc when Nene and Kou have to tell Tsuchigomori their secrets and then they think Hanako should have to as well.
“Oh my you want to hear secrets about me? “ “No thanks but I do appreciate the offer. I know more then enough.”
I won’t go on a tangent about this but this detail destroys my soul and when you go back and re read or re watch the anime after it’s only then that it does! Cause then you know! It’s the timing of it!
The way you use timing in your fic going back to the origin story’s (not just Amane’s but the interactions with all the other people and supernaturals around him) like when Amane first meets Yako and then in my mind I think forward to when he goes
“Hey number 2. It’s been a while. Do you remember me?” .... “So you guys are ... friends?” “She’s a wonder. I’m a wonder. Sometimes it’s assumed.”
We don’t know much about Hanako’s origin. Actually we know practically nothing about Hanako’s origin. We know more about Yugi Amanes backstory then Hanako’s origin of how he came to be Hanako and THAT is really saying something. (Gosh I so hope soon will get to know some more about both) But the way you wrote the introduction with Amane and Yako before Hanako was even a Wonder... I can’t describe it but it’s that kinda detail that makes me feel a slight similar feeling to the “You want to hear secrets about me?” example if I go back now and watch the Missaki stairs episode.
It’s because of your word choices and timing (it’s seamless) It’s just the story telling itself with those details..I hope that makes some sense? I can’t think of words. Obviously you know I’m not a writer cause I’m not good at this but it was something that was a significant detail for me.
Second-Your original character of Nakamura. How her sweet and pure personality and inquisitive helpful nature wanted her to try and see if she could see over that mountain that was Amanes guarded wall and how she just kept trying until that was completely taken away from her with his death. I really like her and I have this suspision it was an intentional parallel to Nene In a very natural subtle way (that’s just what I interpreted) to think now thinking forward how Hanako gravitated to Nene’s personality cause a part of It might have slightly reminded him of a could have been friend he never took the opportunity to let even slightly in and regretted that. Even worse with that reminder and seeing Nene at first glance and knowing she was just gonna die. You really REALLY know how to bring on the hints and detail driven Angst!
Third. I have to bring up Tsuchigomori’s and Yako’s dynamic. It always took on a most light hearted feel with these two who are basically stuck with each other for eternity. And they may or may not at times slightly reminded me of a very old (we’re talking ancient) married couple. Your dynamic and internal thought monologue from both their povs about each other were solid gold 👌🏻.
Forth Emi and Shuuya THE TENSION IN MY BODY WHEN EMI... AHHH! And then he ran into Nakamura LITERALLY INTO HER BODY! Jumping out the window and then the scene outside .:. Ahh I get chills. Chills. Then Tsuchigomori protecting his student .. his surrogate son ok I’m fine. I’m fine. :,( Anyway .. yea that was so good! 😭 The scenes were so fast pace it was shock and awe I was feeling mostly and then when it calmed down with Tsuchigomori and Amane just being there together that’s when my chest got tight again. But I’m so intrigued about Emi. I mean I know she’s established and important but how you are gonna continue to write her is what I’m so curios about. We know so little about her.
The exchange between Amane and Emi after when he seeks her out and tells her one day she will be a great exorcist and the hesitation she mulls over in her mind. Not understanding this supernatural at all. Brings me back to Kou and his conflicting emotions towards Hanako when they first met and the parallels just make me so emotional!
I will also confess I’m not completely caught up on the manga I have around 7 more chapters to go as I’m on chapter 61 right now. So unless they said Teru and Kous grandmothers first name in those chapters I’m gonna assume you chose it.
Same goes for the first clock keeper Shuuya I don’t know what to make of him as of right now and haven’t gotten to the part in the manga I think you said in your authors note that he was briefly introduced in? But again I love what you did with this! He was such a fun and contrasting character to the newest clock keeper.
Introducing this character and what Amanes first response was to him. Someone else who could see him! How that made him feel. Really makes me think of his response to Akane now and Hanako just hoping that that he can have another friend and someone to interact with and even though Akane um.. let’s go with dislikes him he doesn’t care cause it’s someone else that he can actually interact with.
The flashbacks with Tsukasa. Oh boy. Oh boy. Gosh I have no idea what to make of Tsukasa in general like it pains me so much cause I hate his actions but I feel SO SO BAD FOR HIM! Something made him the way he was! I love your flashback scenes so much! I love seeing that human small child side to him. It’s just so so sad :,( Wait how old were they in the flashback scene of the festival? Does the one in 1964 when Nene traveled back still exist in the canon of this story?
And also speaking of Tsukasa (I know this one you can’t answer cause this might be a plot point) but why couldn’t Tsuchigomori find his book? That’s what I am dying to know.
I could go on so much more about Amane and Tsuchigomori but it’s so hard for me to put into words for all the chapters so far. My next review will be more focused on just the latest chapter so this is a bit of a mess. You really understand this dynamic and it’s a dynamic that personally means so so much to me. What changed everything for me when I first got into Hanako was the Bookstacks arc. That changed everything for me. Knowing who this boy of Yugi Amane was and the dynamic we got to see with the only person who knew who he was when he was human! (I really hope they dive more into that and we see more Tsuchigomori telling us about that) Some of these themes and concepts hit me so personally and my heart breaks for Yugi so much.
I probably missed a lot but I really feel like this is just such a mess even though these are all my genuine thoughts im sure more will pop back into my head later.
Lastly if you wouldn't be opposed I may try to make something for it creatively. You know how certain fics have their own fan art and such ...
I wish there were so many actual visual fan arts made of this story for more visualization! If only I had talent. ( I may possibly try my hand at one but I have only drawn one piece of art ever)
These are just the scenes off the top my head Tsuchigomori next to Amane on the staircase as he cries when he first realizes he’s a spirit
Amane sitting in his own desk next to Nakamura watching her sleep
Amane and Emi looking right up at the ghost of the moon in the daylight before Amane disappears from her sight
Tsuchigomori bandaging Amane yet again in the nurses office. Telling him he will eventually fade away he’s not attached to anything here anymore he’s just a drift.
Amane looking at himself in the bathroom mirror not recognizing himself gritting the phantom pain in his abdomen as looks to see it’s physically rotting away (that’s a bit darker of one😅 but I love it)
Amane telling Tsuchigomori as they watch the lanterns he’s not going anywhere again when Tsuchigomori tells him “maybe now would be the best time to cross”
Ok .. I made myself cry again but these scenes stick out to me so much. You should have fan art for them cause they are just that good! :,)
I hope in someway if you do read this you somewhat like my thoughts on this even if they are jumbled. I had to gush about this but also maybe I latched onto a detail that isn’t really brought up or something. That’s another reason I wanted to share my thoughts with you.
Really your writing is such a privilege! I feel so lucky to come across something like this and to be captivated by it and (breaking down at 5 am over it) Thank you again for sharing this creation It’s inspiring creatively and I feel very grateful ❤️
#thank you again for sharing this piece of art its so amazing and so heartbreaking#can't wait to see whats in store!#this may have took me over 2 hours to type out .. i just my brain is gone today#im kinda very tried#again apologies about all the grammar mistakes i just had to get this all out
