Everyone's been having a good laugh at this screenshot of Liko refusing to use Pokeballs, but to actually get serious for a moment, man does it feel good to see stuff like this again. Journeys was practically allergic to giving any Pokemon besides Pikachu and Goh's designated shouldermon screentime. Ash and Goh's teams nearly always stayed in their Pokeballs unless directly relevant to the plot, and Team Rocket didn't even have any Pokemon to begin with (Morpeko was fine for a while and then the writers forgot it existed). Horizons is actually showcasing its characters' Pokemon again and I'm so glad for it! Hatenna has done relatively little in the few episodes since Liko caught it, but the fact that it's just been hanging out there in her hood already makes it feel like a well-established member of the team. Wattrel's been more on-and-off, but we've still seen it often enough that its presence is felt. And of course, that's not to mention that the Brave Asagi itself basically feels like a mini Cerise Park, where we get to see all its various Pokemon denizens hanging around the ship and going about their duties. Even though it's clear this is one of the more character-focused series, it's no longer coming at the cost of the non-human characters and I am so glad to see it.

I think my favorite thing about horizons so far is just that they solved the general story problem of “how do we keep the main character in the dark about x y and z” by shrugging and saying “Friede Didn’t Fucking Tell Her”

ik it's been pointed a ton that ash is way more physically affectionate with goh in journeys and he goes back to visit people a lot more often than he did compared to previous series which i think is such a nice development after sun and moon.. like ok i rewatched the final s/m episodes so many times and cried but the little details of ash going quiet when mao asks lilie if she will come back after finding her father, and kaki pointing out that ash's journey won't just be for the vacation.. when professor burnet and kukui hug him goodbye ash doesn't lift his arms to hug them back and idk. i just love these little details. i think alola taught him more to be more openly affectionate with his loved ones

For some reason I’m thinking about what programming language anipoke characters would use…

I think Goh would know C++ from his parents, which is helpful for making programs to help detect Mew.

Sophocles seems like he’d use Python (idk why, that just seems funny to me).

Clemont probably knows multiple languages that are good for robotics, like C++, Python, Java, etc. (I don’t really know anything about robotics, but that��s what Google says lol)

And Max probably wants to make apps. so he learned JavaScript thinking it was the same as Java, oops.

I've been liking Pokémon Horizons lately, the plot's been simple at times and Liko's inner monologue can get annoying, but in the recent episode with Nemona and Brassius I can't help but feel sad that Ash's journey never went to Paldea

Imagine the content we would've had with James interacting with Brassius

And Nemona is Ash's perfect rival, she's literally grabbing Roy by the jacket trying to get him to battle her.

Okay so story time, but it’s like a really short story so it’s not really much of a story at all, I am wasting way too much time with this opening sentence jfc. ANYWAYS months back I saw what Looker looks like in Pokémon generations via the images on mudae (a discord gacha bot thing) so I was like oh wow that is not Looker what did they do to him he looks awful, I therefore had no interest in watching generations. But today I watched a video about Pokémon anime spinoffs and so I decided to finally check it out
