a quiet light (a gentle support)

hi gang!! i got this ask a while ago and this has been simmering in my brain ever since. tonight i finally managed to write it down (@iheartdilfs1204 this is for u!!) sooo here's academy era viktor making a leg brace for reader that suffers from knee pain! gender neutral, 2k-ish words, no warnings. this is...sort of vague on all fronts, but, ya know, i'm always here for the chronically ill reader. bon appetit?

It's torture, that's what it is. Pure and simple. Viktor had opened his big stupid mouth before thinking, of course, which – sometimes worked to his benefit, and sometimes it didn't. He'd just wanted to help, and, truly, he’d meant it as nothing more than a friendly gesture of good will, but now you were in his lab, after hours, and it was quiet, and he wasn’t quite sure what to do with himself.

He’d offered to make you a leg brace before he fully even realized he was doing it. The understanding of what he’d just said had settled in like an afterthought, the ‘I could do that for you’ an instinctual response to your musings about how your knee tended to ache and you were maybe thinking of getting something to help. He’d only looked up from his notes when you went quiet, and – it’d been one of those moments again. A single shared heartbeat, an understanding between people who both crawled their way out from the Undercity to live among people who had no idea what it was like.

Viktor knows that while you’d mentioned the leg brace pretty casually, it was everything but; there was a great deal of pain you’d sludge through before paying someone to help, and, it was likely, even more before you’d admit to a weakness. While you hadn’t shared the more personal details of your situation to him, he was fairly sure he knew this, because it’s precisely what he would’ve done, and up in Piltover? A history like his gave a good perspective. You were colleagues, sure, maybe even friends, and he wasn’t arrogant enough to think he’d know what you were thinking most of the time, but…this he was fairly certain of. After all, he’d lived through the same problem. He’d been there. Except he hadn’t had help, then.

“They’d overcharge you for the materials anyway,” he’d continued, writing down something that would most likely end up being redundant later, “and the standard issue ones are never well-fitted.”

You’d shifted in your place. He’d looked up. Met your eyes, waited for another shared second to pass while you clearly assessed his offer.

“That’s probably true,” you’d sighed, then, “you’d do that?”

He’d shrugged. Returned to his notes. “If you want me to,” he’d answered, “I’ve got the experience. And I like to think my…current model is pretty sufficient.”

He’d gone through many versions, many iterations of his own mobility aids over the years. Not all of them had been particularly comfortable to wear, but he’d eventually worked out most of the kinks. And…he was pretty confident that he could make you something that was more comfortable than the cheaply made off-the shelf ones you would find in the very few shops that offered them.

“You’re sure?”

He’d looked at you again. “Yes,” he’d answered, and it’d settled to the bottom of his lungs like a promise; yes, he’d do this. Yes, he’d help. Yes, he’d do what he could to give you any possible support in this stupid high-strung city, because no matter what his position in the Academy was, it still felt like he was an outsider among them. And you were one too. And…sure, maybe he’d jumped at the chance to help a little too quickly, but it was an honest offer. Viktor wasn’t the most social of butterflies, he wasn’t very good at getting close to people, but…he wanted to help if he could. He liked you, and, yes, he would probably have helped any decent person that’d ask, but he also felt a certain quiet sort of solidarity with you. And, truth be told, he wouldn’t turn down an opportunity to spend more time with you, even if he was never really good at saying so.

So, here you are, in his lab after-hours. Shifting in your place like you’re not sure where to go from here. He’d asked you to come, and you had, he just…hadn’t thought much further than that.

He looks at you, and then at his desk, and then it truly strikes him that he does not have the space to be working with a person as a model base in here. But…you’re a trencher, like him. You’re not going to expect a five-star hotel, and for that, he is grateful. God knows he’d been in dingier establishments than this for his own tries at medical treatments.

“So,” he says, studying your posture, “joint pain? Muscle?” You hadn’t been very loud about the nature of your pain before, and he could understand why. It was hard, in the environment of the Academy, surrounded by shiny, polished Piltovians and their idealistic lives to admit that you had problems.

“Joint, mostly” you sigh, adjusting your posture again, and he nods.

“I can work with that,” he notes, “do you know your measurements?”

“Ah, no?” You answer, “do you know many people that know their leg circumference without checking?”

He shrugs, shoves a hand in his pocket. “You might have had a well-hidden passion for tailoring clothes.”

You breathe through a hum. “Sadly, I do not,” you sigh, “I parse a mean hole, but I don’t know my measurements, no.”

He shrugs again, and then, busies himself looking for a measuring tape.

"I don't usually-" he says, then does a vaguely circular hand gesture, "work with live subjects. Well, excluding myself and the occasional plant, but those-"

He shakes his head with a sigh. "Nevermind, that's irrelevant. How do you – want to do this?"

He finds the measuring tape, and looks at it in his hand. Two options; either you measure yourself or he measures you. And, unfortunately, he was suspecting that the latter might be more accurate. You were wearing skin-tight trousers made from light material, which should help, at least, but...

“What do you need?” you ask, and that is not a question that is asked of him often.

It takes him a second to recover from it.

“Circumferences,” he answers, “range of motion. After that, it’s all fine-tuning.” He nods to himself, twirls the measuring tape in his fingers.

You shift your weight from one foot to the other again. “Alright,” you say, nodding, “and how do we get those?”

He explains, to the best of his abilities, that the circumferences of thigh, knee and leg were pretty straightforward, and that the range of motion was a bit more complicated. He’d need to know how much your leg naturally moved – without pain, if possible – and how much it should move to serve optimal functionality. Which…unfortunately, were not always the same thing. He’d need to see you in motion to do this, and to be able to measure the bend of your knees.

This is how you end up sitting on the edge of his desk, your legs hanging down, while he’s instructing you to lift or stop or stay still while trying to measure the angles and distances with gentle fingers. It was weird, working with something…alive and warm and not-him, but he tries to adapt a professional approach; asks specifying questions about your ailments to perfect the design.

Does the pain react to situational changes? Temperature, pressure? Weather?

The brace should be as light as possible, to not misalign your posture, or bother you more than what it was worth. Sleek enough that you could hide it under clothes if you wished. Robust enough to not have to worry about. Somewhat adjustable.

You are warm under his hands, and so close he can hear your breathing. In the small, slowly dimming space, it felt like even the dust had stopped moving in the moments between questions and answers, when it was just you and him and the silence.

It tugs at something at the back of his brain; how easy this moment flowed, even when he’d predicted it to be awkward. And maybe it was just him being a perpetual loner, but it was nice, one he got over the shock of–

Of touching someone like this, yes, but also…off approaching a near-medical situation with this level of gentleness.

He’d spent most of his life trying to fix his own problems for as cheap as possible, and he knew too-well what medical treatments could be like, even when paid for. Cold tools, cold attitudes, the people in charge seeing you as nothing more than a problem to get rid of as fast as possible – and he wanted this to be as far from that as possible, so he kept his shoulders relaxed, his voice soft, his fingers gentle. It was true that he didn’t often exercise as much care as he should when working on things for himself, but this? This he tried to handle as carefully as possible. If he could do anything to make you more comfortable, he would.

So he keeps his breathing steady. Keeps talking through the process to let you know what he’s doing and why. Keeps his touches lighter than probably actually necessary, erring on the side of caution. And he, very pointedly, compartmentalizes the part of him that was trying to supply thoughts of in what other kinds of situations he’d perhaps like to see you on his desk.

He didn’t want to be weird about it, so he pretends those thoughts aren’t there while he gently wraps the measuring tape over your thigh.

“Lift, please,” he exhales, without looking up, and you do, and Viktor can feel your muscles move under his fingers. But that’s just a professional observation. He’d keep his…unprofessional cravings under wraps, at least for now.

This was just another thing he was working on.

And if he’d do it well, it might just change your life for the better, and – personally, Viktor was of the opinion that you, and him, and everyone else from the Undercity had suffered enough already. He wanted to help.

So when he’s satisfied with his notes, he leans back with a sigh and a nod, and looks up at you. You’re already watching him, eyes curious. And he’s suddenly very aware of the rest of the room, quiet and creeping at the back of his mind as you wait for his next move. The air feels colder now that he’s not touching you anymore.

That’s probably good.

“This should be enough,” he says, waves a hand towards the scribblings on his notebook, “I’ll get it to you in, hm, a week?” He could probably do it faster, but he didn’t want to get your hopes up unless he couldn’t. He’d need to double-check the materials.

You just look at him for a moment, frozen in…something. Then, “Can I…do something for you in return?”

Ah. The age-old tradition of bargaining. “Hm,” he says, glancing at his notes again, “if you want,” he shrugs a little, “but I don’t think that’s necessary.”

He knows saying that isn’t going to change things. It’s clear in the way you’re looking at him; you’re going to do something for him in return, and it isn’t optional. Not that he’s objecting, he’s not…against spending more time with you, by all means, but he hopes he’d sounded sincere enough that you really don’t need to. He’d spend his time tinkering with something anyway, so it might as well be something that helps.

“What do you want?” You ask, leaning closer with your hands on the edge of his desk, and that, again, is something he isn’t asked often. It’s not something he thinks about often; his life is too full of other priorities for his own wants to matter much. But this gets his brain going before he can stop it;

More, it supplies, more time with you. More of whatever this is. And it feels selfish, and he knows that, but…

He shrugs again. “Not much,” he answers, “just whatever you think is good.”

hello :> where did your inspiration for BatHB come from/start?

It actually came to me as a I was doing concept art for a dsmp space AU that was somewhat inspired by the Event Horizon fic series but with a cutesy anime/magical girl sci-fi aesthetic and humans are space orcs stuff.

I never planned on doing anything with the AU idea because I was only slightly into the dsmp, but the ideas I came up with for the Endermen inspired aliens became really fleshed out and interesting to me and I felt like I had to use it, especially the heterochromia as a reason for a lack or teleportation thing, and thus I first drew Butterscotch! I even have her first design ideas.

Originally the story was going to follow her and Danny as they did missions for the Captain, and there was even going to be a subplot where she had a crush on Danny, but that got scrapped. They even had a fun little team they would go on missions with, but I think if I were to do this plotline in a potential remake, it would remain just Butterscotch and Danny.

Danny wasn't always going to be Native American, or even have one eye, but I was inspired to make him by my dad's (who is an orientation an mobility specialist) two students, one of whom was ho chunk and they other only had one eye.

Here's some cursed short hair Danny before I looked up how Ho Chunk boys traditionally wear their hair.

The captain was different too, originally he was going to be more friendly and actually had a good relationship with while still having secret bad intentions with Butterscotch and being an evil warmongering mercenary. He used to try to hide it though. He also had a larger group of people who followed him, but eventually they got cut down to just Epsilon.

They used to look like this by the way.

Then of course there's milkshake, who only got a role in the story because my mom loved this one picture of her so much

The interesting thing about Milkshake is that I knew what her outfit should look pretty much right away, it was her fur patterns that kept changing.

And of course, there was Cowboy. Beta Cowboy was going to be sooooo edgy omg

He was like, going to be cold and aggressive and get into a lot more fights. I have concept art of him using a blaster, which is somehow the most anachronistic thing I can think of for him. His character designed has always been the same though, the art style just changes. He originally had much more of a vendetta against Captain and originally helped Milkshake find Butterscotch because it was the Captain who took Butterscotch, not because he wanted to help her and had been looking for revenge for pretty much years at that point. While I think having Milkshake and Cowboy have the same common goal would have been tighter in the long run, Cowboy's current characterization is my favorite version of him.

And then of course there's Cupcake,

Cupcake changed the least out of all the characters I think. Aside from butterscotch herself. (Even Danny used to be way more cheery) But originally she had a more diva-like personality where she would pretend she was a rising star rather than a prisoner to cope. Originally Cowboy and Milkshake were going to be stuck with her in the adrenaline trade and milkshake would have been forced to wear a blindfold and dress to perform with Cupcake

It goes even farther than that. I even have old Crucian art that showcases how different they were in the beta stages, but it would be too spoilery to explain that right now.

Hi! I’ve been trying to make an introductory post for my WoL, but when I tried doing so freeform it ended up overly long and full of rambling. I’ve searched for templates all over the internet, but the only ones I can find are in the general style of D&D character sheets that include irrelevant information about stats while not properly dedicating space to the actual character traits. I saw the format you used for your OCs, and it seems to be about what I’m looking for. Is there any chance you could provide a blank template along those lines for me and others who might have the same problem?

Funnily, while I keep them all similar, I didn't have a template before now. Also reminds me I need to do some updating and revision on my own OCs, it's been awhile and they can use a refresh for character and plot updates.

I recommend making static pages over posts; easier to track and edit. I am a stickler for organization, so keep my pinned post to the bare basics with links to the profiles and other pages, to keep from stretching the post to a mile long, in part, and to keep the info where it's easily read and relevant. Also because mobile app view won't show one's theme and links, and the pinned post is more likely to be seen and accessible than a sidebar or menu.

I have tutorials on how to set a custom theme (and access full blog features) as well as how to create those static blog pages. Tumblr may have made some updates since, but the gist is the same, and the Help pages have newer details if necessary.

I do urge keeping colors and format simple, accessible, and reader friendly, including screen reader friendly. A row of asterisks or tildes as a separator line are usually individually read out by screen readers, as is the code used to make those fancy hard-to-read gothic letters folks use for "aesthetics." In a lot of my profiles, I split sections with images of the character (which should also use alt text if we're trying to be kind and inclusive, and it's to the point of a profile page anyway).

I think I will put the intro and template here in the post under a cut, and then in a Reply Comment add a link to the Google Doc version, cuz of how Tumblr is about external links. An actual blank copy-pasta is on the GDoc, what's below has some thought processes for each section for guidance.

This a pretty modular template, that can be added to or subtracted from as needed. Move descriptive blocks around as they seem more or less relevant for your OC, substitute things that make sense over things that don’t; this is just a starting point!

I see these as broad strokes; a quick introduction and general overview of your character, meant to give an at-a-glance idea of who they are. It’s handy for other writers and artists, and even oneself for keeping track of some details. I recommend practicing succinct writing here; these blocks should each stay between 100-300 words or thereabouts. Use links to other pages and tags to point toward longer details and stories (and keep them handy for yourself!). It also makes it much easier when you want to revise things when characterization marches forward, or if you want to retcon something entirely.

But these are all just my opinions and ideas on how I approach OC profiles after making them in some form or another for about a quarter century. Make it as long or short as it needs to be, change it up, go nuts, I ain’t your mom, and so on 😉

Statistics: The basics; barebones, at-a-glance stat blocks, handy for quick reference. Can be added to or shortened as needed. If a stat starts to word wrap on a standard screen, trim it and move that extra detail to the “Description” paragraph below the list.

Race: (for FF14 fantasy possibilities) Nationality: (or Ethnicity, whatever works. Where are they from, as that helps shape them?) Height: (both feet/inches and centimeters are handy here) Eyes: Build: (I prefer this to weight, as that’s ridiculously variable depending on one’s build, which is more important visually anyway; are they broad, stocky, skinny, muscular, stringy, etc) Hair: (color, type, texture, preferred lengths and styling) Skin: (sometimes I fold scars into here, if there’s nothing too outstanding) Scars: Voice: (how do they sound?) Nameday: Age: (depends on your personal timeline for your OCs, but I recommend an age range over specifics; mid-20s, 25-35, late teens, a little over a century, etc. Less updating and fits with the handwaved time bubble anyway) Disciplines: (what are their main job[s]? The adventuring or professional skills they’ve learned?) Hobbies: Birthplace: Current Home: Occupation: (Their actual day job, different from or part of their disciplines?) Signature Items: (A particular weapon? A piece of jewelry? Always wear a specific coat?)

Description: A very short "immediate impressions" type description; what would someone "on the street" see when meeting/looking at your character on a typical day? Taking some of the info from the stats but then how you want those barebone facts to be seen; is the OC elegant, or rough? Expensive clothes or simple attire? Any particular smells, or sounds? I recommend around 100 words.

Biography: Very brief, general overview of the backstory that led them to the point where they become a story protagonist (adventurer, the WoL, or other roleplay archetype). Don't have to go into great detail, keep it short and simple; it's a blurb that sets up how they got here in broad strokes. I think my longest bio is around 300 words, and it probably shouldn’t go over that here.

To get more details, one can always link to specific stories, or to a tag. I have multiple OCs, so I might make my tags something like "Aeryn Backstory" or "Iyna Lore" or "Punchy History" or some combo thereof (I usually try to keep them consistent though for ease).

Persona: What face do they present to the world? How are they perceived by the public, acquaintances, coworkers, family, actual friends? Some of these answers will be the same, some may change depending on if and how they code switch in various social situations.

From there, what lies underneath the surface? What are some general internal attitudes, traits, feelings?

A hundred words for outward demeanor and another one hundred for innermost self ought to cover the general broad strokes.

Romance: If so inclined, details about the OC's relationship details; sexual and romantic orientations, relationship history, current situations, how they view and approach intimacy (or not!).

Links to relationship tags or stories or art can work well here, too.

Echo: Does the OC have an Echo at all? Is it a "typical" Echo, or do they have some special abilities, some things they're better at than others? How does it affect them, how do they feel about it?

This is another section that may be a free space section to remove or swap to something else relevant to the character.

Hobbies: The stuff outside of work and heroics. Ways they relax, special interests, side jobs, things they enjoy, and so on. This can be an expansion of the listing in the stat block, or you can cut out one or the other to avoid redundancy.

Companions: What’s their chocobo like, or do they have another favored mount? What pet(s) do they have? Are they practically a Disney Princess? Have a familiar? Do they prefer arcane entities? Technological constructs? Or do they eschew companions entirely?

How to find the OC in game: This is where I list things like realm and data center, and addresses for the FC house and personal house or apartment. Not necessary if you don't want folks to go looking.

Links: The links can be scattered through the post in relevant sections, or gathered together here. I tend to put my basic tag for the character, if I have an aesthetic tag for them, their story tags, any links to art references or other miscellaneous items I want easily found for myself and others. I often put this close to the top if a profile is longer and I want those links to be quick referenced.

OOC: Any particular notes one wants to make about the character from a meta perspective. Can also be combined with the Links.

fuck yeah, sweet. looks solid overall— appreciate the detail. just a few things we’ll need to go over:

• double-check the ramp angles at the main entrance; i wanna make sure they’re installed within ADA compliancex otherwise we'll get hounded like dogs.

• with the sliding doors— are we talking redstone sensor thingies or push-button activation? if they glitch or malfunction, i don’t want guests getting stuck outside and stopping the flow of things, or worse, getting injured: the paperwork for stuff like that sucks.

• counter heights – reception, bar, and any frequently used counters need to be exactly 34 inches max for wheelchair users. no “eyeballing” it.

• lighting adjustments? we probably need adaptable lighting in the strip clubs or something for those who can't do flashing lights. i don't know.

• for the elevator buttons & signage, we're gunna aim for braille, clear contrast, and reachable heights (no higher than 48 inches).

i think that's all i've got. god. this is gunna take months, isn't it? at least it'll make us look better. anyways— i'll get in touch.

he has a deathly fear of nifty, as when he asked her to explain what "50 shades of gray" was after hearing a joke angel made, she proceeded to explain the entire trilogy in horrific graphic detail. he has never wanted to ask her a question again.

08 - oc’s: this is not oc friendly. i will only follow if we are friends & i will be wiling to rp then but i want to limit my interactions with oc’s because many people have crossed lines. i don’t want to stress about them. i apologize if you were looking forward to rping. will not ocxcc.

09 - i am but a cream-puff. i don’t like confrontation but if something is really bothering me, i will speak up. if i find that our conversation isn’t going anywhere, i will most likely hard block. i don’t like hard blocking but will use it as a last resort. i rather talk it out first, than lose someone that could be a friend.

10 - yu.me & ze.ki: i know it’s a hot topic. there is no getting around that these ships are canon. if you have a problem with it, i will tag it. i will be writing it but that does not mean i condone this in real life. i am able to separate it as such. i suggest you unfollow if you are still uncomfortable with it. we are all in charge of what makes us uncomfortable & i am okay with it. you do you but don’t cause drama.

Hey everyone, it’s the Leap Year, that means it Leaper’s birthday. So I did some art of them

That being said, I want to post a personal update on well… *gestures to all of tumblr*

By now I’m sure the news of Tumblr’s partnership with mid journey and other AI art making companies has already spread, it’s bad…really bad

I understand there’s the opt out toggle (which I have already opted out of) but that being said, it’s clear that it’s not even reliable and that the data of my art and posts may be taken anyway despite it. For all I know, all of my posts as far back as 2016 may have already been given to these companies and I wouldn’t know

I have tried so hard to avoid it, I have jumped ship from both twitter and instagram to avoid this issue, but now it just seems unavoidable.

I know there’s AI poisoning tools like glaze and nightshade, however the downloads only work on desktop computers and unfortunately for the time being I have only been able to use mobile devices to make and post my creations. And to use the mobile friendly version of these tools I have to be accepted into WebGlaze via DM’s by their social media staff themselves. And who knows if they will give me an invite, it’s been a few days since I contacted them and I have received no replies yet.

So with that being said, this may or may not be the last piece of art I post here on tumblr. I genuinely hope not, I hope I get access to these poisoning tools soonish. But my hope is practically non existent. The internet seems to be becoming harder and harder for small artists like me to exist in online spaces. And while I barely have an audience, I still don’t appreciate the idea that someone could be profit off mine or my other fellow artist’s stolen work while I can barely muster the courage to even open commissions (or for my friends who do have commissions open and they are barely getting any clients or the recognition they deserve)

I do plan on still being active here, even if it’s just reblogging or liking posts or answering asks, but when it comes to sharing art online I can say that I have to step away from a bit until I know I can post my art knowing it can be exploited without me knowing.

For now the only thing I can say is if you have a toy house account, you can find me and my art there if anyone l still wants to see what I make. And I still plan on participating in artfight this upcoming July as well. But until I get access to those poisoning tools or some miracle happens and AI art dies, I genuinely don’t see myself posting art here anymore.

I will pin a separate post with my toyhouse account on it if anyone wants to follow me over there. I will keep yall updated if circumstances change for any reason though.

But on one final note, if this is truly the end for me and I can’t get the resources, I do want to say thank you to everyone who supported this blog. Either it be my mutuals, my regular followers, or even people have simply liked some content from me. I would have never thought posting fanart of jacksepticeye and markiplier would lead me to meeting the people I have met through this site. Tumblr is what inspired me to make art in the first place, I just feel terrible that even watermarks can’t protect my creations anymore.

While this isn’t a permanent goodbye, all I can do is say good night to my art sharing for the time being. Thank you all again, and to my fellow creators I’m sorry you all are also burdened with fighting this fight against AI and I hope we eventually gain victory on it down the road. Nothing will replace those who genuinely pour their heart and soul into art. No matter how good of a computer can mimic it

What is this blog?

This blog is an imagines/scenarios/positivity blog for Toby Fox’s game, “Undertale!” Here you can submit & request imagines/scenarios for specific Undertale characters, or any sort of positivity about the game that you’d like to share. (Sorry, no Deltarune scenarios, just Undertale!)

I see you allow Submissions! What sort of stuff can I submit?

Feel free to submit your fanart, fanfiction, personal headcanons, or anything positive having to do with Undertale! Nothing NSFW, please.

Also feel free to tag us, if you can’t get to the Submit box. Just use the tag #underimagines to show us your creations!

Do you do/accept NSFW headcanons/imagines?

No. Any & all NSFW requests are deleted on sight. This blog is (for the most part) family-friendly!

Do you do scenarios/imagines for ships?

We do indeed! We will do Human/Monster, Human/Human, & Monster/Monster ships for either characters or Reader/Etc (though this may be dependent on the Mod who takes the request). The type of ships we do varies with the characters. All Reader-Inserts are Gender-Neutral unless specified otherwise.

Mod Mellow will do scenarios involving adult versions of Chara, Frisk, Flowey, Asriel Dreemurr, & Monster Kid, based on the results of this poll that they took concerning the matter. All answers pertaining to this situation will be tagged with “Adulttale” for those who would rather blacklist it.

indie + private + low-med activity SHADOW THE HEDGEHOG from the sonic franchise. mostly pulls from game-verse (mostly SA2) with inspiration from archie, IDW, sonic x, and my own headcanons. penned by ren. all muns must be 18+.

i work full-time, blog is low-med activity and sometimes spottier than that. i've been into sonic for a looong time so even if i'm inactive for a while i'll probably inevitably return!

(cont.) i work from home and am most active on my blog during my workday M-F. i don't tend to be active in evenings or weekends. i do not have tumblr mobile!

private blog, which means i am mutuals-only, and i am pretty selective with who i follow. i will only write with people who are 18+. minors are welcome to follow but i will not interact with you.

darker topics feature on this blog but i am uncomfortable interacting with people who write things like incest, shipping adults with children, graphic depictions of sexual assault (which is different from writing a character who is traumatized from being assaulted or simply mentioning it), etc. i am an adult and am comfortable with dark topics but it's easy to tell when people are romanticizing/condoning this stuff instead of approaching it with the nuance these topics deserve. don't be weird. extensive and detailed discussion of dieting, exercise for 'body goals', body dysmorphia and 'fixing' it through exercise, food shaming, also bothers me. i can handle the occasional discussion of these topics and themes but not if it's prevalent.

generally shadow will treat each character in a thread like they’re “his” version of a character unless a character is very divergent in ways that would make it hard to do so (i.e. interacting with a sonic who is only from the OVA canon).

this shadow has no movie influences! i’m up to write with movie portrayals of the cast but i have no desire to write movie shadow myself so i'll just use a crossover verse.

i like duplicates a lot, i just may be a bit nervous to approach first!

i prefer longer, more literate replies. a crack thread here and there is fine, whatever, but i like to write stuff that actually goes somewhere 95% of the time!

shipping is multiship with a heavy emphasis on chemistry; shadow is not someone who is easy to ship with.

as far as nsfw content goes, i’m not comfortable seeing people write smut with the sonic cast (humans are ok though). please tag this accordingly or do it on sideblogs. this includes extensive ic jokes (the occasional one-off is fine) or extensive allusions to nsfw themes. other nsfw content like violence, drinking, drug use, horror, psychological trauma, etc. is fine and doesn't bother me.

i use "cw tag" trigger guidelines. i do not tag specific triggers that come up in shadow's backstory and lore so please keep in mind that things like child death, terminal illness, military themes, medical paraphernalia and imagery, etc. feature extensively on this blog. if any of these topics bug you, this is probably not the blog for you anyway.

i use small text + 75x75 icons in my replies with the occasional bold and italic font for emphasis. if you don’t use small text i won’t either.

(cont.) i will not write with people who use super fancy formatting, what bothers me the most is fancy/non screen reader friendly fonts and excessive amounts of spacing between words. font colors (i use tumblr dark mode) and font size changes can be hard for me too.

i don't follow people who post excessive amounts of ooc negativity. even if it's under a cut, tagged as tbd, etc.. an occasional vent is fine of course, we are all human, but please be reasonable.

a pet peeve of mine is sending asks or doing starters or liking starter calls and only getting 1 or 2 replies into them before it gets dropped in favor of another new thread or ask that gets about 1 or 2 replies on it before it gets dropped. i try to limit the amount of threads i have going with someone (soft limit of 3-4) and i will probably stop sending asks or liking starter calls to try and encourage replies on our already-existing threads at a certain point.

if we are mutuals for a while and you are fairly active on the dash and we can't seem to get any interactions going i will sb or hb after a certain point under the assumption that we aren't going to be able to write together. i prefer a sb but i know some people prefer a hb. if i sb you feel free to reach out; i probably just assumed we weren't able to get any writing going, it's not personal. i'm not follow for follow. if i follow you, i want to interact.

shadow the hedgehog 2005 is not canon to my portrayal of shadow. shadow has not met black doom. he is still part-black arms. gerald retrieved the DNA when he traveled to mobius, seeking help from the tech of the ancient echidnas and babylonians. when he returned to the ARK he infused shadow with this DNA. he called the DNA strand “black arms” due to its appearance

in the instance of idw canon threads/muses/etc., my shadow was not zombotted.

shadow's age is pretty partner headcanon dependent but i default to about 23. ages in this series are pretty much up in limbo at this point so who cares really

outside of that i’m pretty wishy washy with what’s canon and not canon just like SEGA and actual canon is idk it’s hedgehogs let’s have some fun. i don’t really use verse tags because this stuff constantly changes (see rules 4 and 5)

A returning MOSTLY post-canon Ryuko Matoi. Est. 2014. A traveling vagabond and a fighter on a mission. (Or a delinquent school girl, if that's more your style.)

You are highly encouraged to go on the desktop version and read all of this in detail, however here's a brief rundown for mobile users, for the sake of convenience:

Muse: Ryuko Matoi from Kill la Kill, post-canon AU (other verses available, see below). 25 y.o., traveling Life-Fiber hunter (which gives her reasons to meet all kinds of characters).

Mun: Is very much of age, been roleplaying in various ways for like 15 years and then some.

Rules (in short):

No sexual NSFW here.

Anything goes, from one-liners to novel, from crack to crossovers to angst and blood. (apart from point one in this list.)

Don't overthink it, just shoot me an ask or tag me. Or message me. I'm very chill.

If you want other verse than the default post-canon, pls specify when interacting. Otherwise she will react within those parameters. To canon muses as well, she'll assume you're 8 years older or (if gone during the plot) a trick of some kind.

Sometimes I accidentally write too much 'cause I got too into it. Don't feel like you have to match me. And do tell me if it gets overwhelming.

Godmodding: if you godmod or powerplay me, you give me the right to do it right back. My muse's abilities are powerful and specific enough for that within the basic canon. You've been warned.

Abilities:

Fast regeneration, super-strength and durability, but not infinite, she can die. Life-Fiber absorption (makes her stronger). Can harden her hands into claws, if need be, but it takes some effort. Can potentially drink blood at a crisis dying point, but would rather not to.

Bonus canon abilities are reserved to be used in case of exceptional crisis (see: godmodding/powermodding or pre-planned over-the-top threads).

Important headcanons:

Aroace (there's plenty an explanation on desktop). (This doesn't mean no shipping. Just a certain kind of shipping.)

While traveling crashes at friends' places chaotically when available. Especially likes to enter Satsuki's home through a window, 'cause it's fun to friendly bicker.

Talks to Senketsu out of habit, after one too many Life-Fibers absorbed she can actually hear him talking back.

Got her scissor blades back, since what else do you fight LF with. At some point had to absorb them too, which now lets her harden her hands into claws... but not for long. It's tiring.

Is down for not traveling alone sometimes, as long as you can handle yourself. Or if you are Mako.

WILL freak out if meeting Ragyo, Nui or Junketsu!Ryuko. (Can use this for angst.)

Verses:

Verse 1: Life-Fiber hunter Years after the finale, there's a sudden resurgence of Life-Fibers all over the globe due to power-hungry people going into willing contact with them. As the only creature on Earth still capable of going toe-to-toe with them (and not quite managing the "normal" life anyway), Ryuko steps up. Now travels around searching for the things and fighting them. 25 y.o.

Verse 2: OG anime Ryuko Matoi is a transfer student at Honnouji Academy trying to find out who killed her dad. You know the drill. (Mun can attempt doubling for Senketsu if need be.) 17 y.o.

Verse 2.5: Pre-canon Ryuko Matoi is a punk-ass student who can't make a friend to save her life and fights everyone on account of chronically not fitting in. Walking trouble. 14-16 y.o.

Verse 3: Cyberpunk AU (2077/Edgerunners inspired) Basically the canonical events, but slightly aged up and converted for the setting. A high-class corpo school, a loner nomad with a dead father, a corpo-bitch who experimented on hooking her own children up to Blackwall. Life-Fibers are rogue AIs, goku uniforms are implants, Senketsu is a friendly AI and Ryuko doesn't know that she's a digital construct of a dead teenaged stuffed in a highly chipped body. She's also trying not to think too hard about living at the house of an unethical ripperdoc. 18 y.o.

You can call me Bibis, I’m 26 years old and roleplaying has been one of my hobbies for over ten years, I’ve been a part of the Bleach fandom for about that same amount of time too. However, I still haven’t finished reading the manga (I’m always working and when I finally have some free time I have no energy to do anything guys, help). Shipping can be super fun, but only if there is chemistry. So there has to be a lot of plotting and our characters need to interact a few times for me to consider shipping them!! Instant shipping / pre-established romantic relationships are not really my cup of tea. I won’t write romantic ships with minors, btw, please don’t insist.

My main verse is set when Ichigo is around 18 years old and finishing up high school!! But if you wanna interact with older Ichigo, or have a plotting idea that would work best with the older version of him, do let me know!! Like I said before, I truly love plotting, so don’t be afraid to throw your ideas at me, I’ll most likely be just as excited as you are to discuss them.

Since I’m well over the age of 18, you might see NSFW themes (such as violence, drugs, sex) on this blog from time to time. I have no triggers and I may be a little forgetful when tagging that sort of thing. Please if you see anything that’s triggering to you that you believe I didn’t properly tag, send me a message and I’ll fix it right away. I want this to be a safe and fun enviroment not only for me but for my writing partners as well!!

So, OFMD is my all time favorite show and I am in love with every single character and have been wanting to try and join the fandom as Stede Bonnet, but I am SO nervous. Only because you, and several others, are just so incredible and I am intimidated but ahhh, I want to do badly write as my pirate princess. Any advice? Or just go for it? I’ve been writing for years, but graphics/theme making are not my forte.

Hey, friend!! Thanks for the kind words!!

I would just GO for it, with the understanding that there's a learning curve to the "rp etiquette" of Tumblr (and some users, as is the way with social media, will be more forgiving and flexible with "mistakes" than others). I would introduce yourself, as you have done here, to people who seem fun and chill, and express your interest in interacting with them IC. 1) Tell them you would be writing Stede. 2) Read their rules page (usually there is a pinned post at the top of a writer's blog offering a mobile-friendly link to their rules, which is basically how they prefer to interact with other writers, how often, in what format, what the writer's or "mun's" triggers are, etc) and tell them that you have: this seems to be a real sign of good faith around here. 3) Collect a small list of people (maybe 4 or 5) to start with, and follow them. If your rp blog is a "sideblog" to a main account, also let them know that, so that when a non-rp blog (you) follows them, they know who the heck it is! I cannot underscore enough how important it is to find people with whom you jive ooc, as yourselves. It simply will not be fun if you don't. So take your time with this part! 4) Make your blog. Customize your theme as much or little as you like, but a good rule of thumb is to at least make an "About the Muse" page (muse's story), a "Rules" (do's and don't's of interacting with you) page, and a "Verses" (discrete story timelines, usually grouped by how much you adhere to canon or by romantic "ships") page. Your muse is a "canon" muse: that is, a muse that already exists in the official fandom universe. 5) If you don't have it already, GET XKIT REWRITTEN (a browser extension that lets you alter Tumblr's increasingly perplexing and user-unfriendly interface, lol. There are versions for both Chrome and Firefox. 6) Start writing. You rp on Tumblr by reblogging a person's IC (in-character) post to your blog, and adding a text reply. They then reblog you. And so on and so forth. Here is where you consult their rules page to know things like: are they okay if I trim posts? Are they okay with me dm'ing them to ask for replies? What's the most courteous way to use tags in order to easily find past writing or filter my blog? How explicit can writing with this partner get re violence or s*xual themes? Etc. Everyone is different.

Re making your blog fancy: You do NOT need to be well-versed in Photoshop, themes and coding in order to run a blog. A lot of people now rp on Tumblr Mobile, where theme graphics don't show up anyway. Those who still use graphics vary, but most of us really don't care if our writing partners use them as long as we can continue to do so.

However, if you're still anxious, I've got a couple graphics and rpg sources right off the bat that can help you tremendously:

i think the near-extinction of people making fun, deep and/or unique interactive text-based browser games, projects and stories is catastrophic to the internet. i'm talking pre-itch.io era, nothing against it.

there are a lot of fun ones listed here and here but for the most part, they were made years ago and are now a dying breed. i get why. there's no money in it. factoring in the cost of web hosting and servers, it probably costs money. it's just sad that it's a dying art form.
