Actor!Eren Yeager Headcanons

Pairing: Actor!Eren Yeager x MakeupArtist!Reader (AOT Live Action Show AU)

Genre: fluff

Type: headcanon/bulletpoint

A/N: I’ve never written for AOT before, but I love the idea of AOT characters as actors playing their characters and was super inspired by @nihaalart ‘s actor au fan art and how Eren is portrayed in them. I might make this multiple parts we’ll see :)

okay so like

Basically in this world AOT is a live action show instead of an anime

And the characters are actors who play the characters

Same names or at least the same first names for the sake of everything

Think of it as like the characters as actors were just so destined to play these roles that they were born with the same/nearly the same names

But aNYWAYS BACK TO THE STORY

Attack on Titan is a huge deal

Like I’m talking Marvel/Stranger Things/Squid Game big deal

It’s quite possibly THE MOST anticipated show every year or two a season comes out

And the biggest franchise at the moment

People love it A LOT

So naturally, as a makeup artist working on the final two seasons you were nervous as hell

You did both normal and Special Effects (wounds, mid transformation, gore, all that good stuff) makeup for the production

And you were terrified your first day bc you didn’t want to mess up and then have the director yell at you and then lose your job because this was a once in a lifetime opportunity

But once you got to set you quickly found that everyone was super chill and friendly

You made friends almost instantly with all sorts of people: catering, directors, assistants, other makeup artists, costume designers

You get the gist

But you WOULD NOT even DARE to approach the cast

They were like gods

Beautiful, scary, and untouchable

They had millions upon millions of dedicated followers (Mikasa, Eren, and Levi took the lead with over fifty million Instagram followers each)

And those followers could be very protective over them

Plus you’ve only ever seen them as the rage filled, vengeful fighters on the show

So yeah it’s kind of intimidating

But you had to talk to them eventually

So you mustered up all your courage and introduced yourself as the new makeup artist

Mikasa and Sasha were so welcoming and immediately asked you to put your number in their phones so you guys could hang out

You found out you were the exact same age as them so you clicked immediately

You all started chatting and they asked you to show them what you’ve done

So you showed a few pictures of different kinds of makeup

Including the test makeup for this season

End they were super impressed

Sasha was like, “Woah, you’re so talented!!! Whoever gets you is gonna be so lucky. No offense to you, Pablo, you do an amazing job” (Pablo was Sasha’s MUA and he just ignored her antics as he set up his equipment)

Mikasa was curious about who you had gotten assigned to

So you looked down at your roster with all the makeup info and found who you’d be primarily taking care of

“It looks like I’ve got Eren Yeager”

And both Mikasa and Sasha had the biggest shit eating grins on their faces after you had said that bc you were really cute and Eren was really single

Just a thought

And so they asked you if you’d met him yet and you said you hadn’t and probably wouldn’t until the next day when he came to set to shoot

Today you were just going to shadow some of the other MUAs to see how things worked

They nodded and gave each other a look before being called to their chairs to get their makeup done

The day went by pretty fast and you were surprised when it was over

Back in your trailer you tried to sleep early but your nerves were eating away at you

What if Eren was mean? What if he didn’t like you or your work? What if he was cold and didn’t talk to you or hated you so much you got fired and replaced?

Even if the rest of the cast was nice you couldn’t be sure he would be too

Especially since his character was so intense

These were the thoughts that plagued you as you shakily set up your equipment in front of a chair embroidered with Eren’s name on it

You were about to finish when you felt a tap on your shoulder

You turned around and were met with none other than Eren Yeager himself

And you felt your hands go numb

Because holy moly he was GORGEOUS

Tall with tanned skin and long brown hair pulled back in a messy bun that had no business being that attractive

His green hoodie that he had gotten from season one (complete with the Survey Corps Scout crest on the front) brought out the color of his eyes

Which you had to admit were the most brilliant color you’d ever seen

He smiled at you and introduced himself

And by god you thought your heart was gonna beat out of your chest

Because it seemed like there was a literal god in front of you

And if god was real and had favorites Eren Yeager was certainly one of them

But you shakily put your hand in his and shook it, introducing yourself as well

He smiled again and sat down in the chair, letting you get to work on his makeup

Being so close to him was kind of nerve wracking to be honest

You learned early on as a MUA that it was your job to make your client feel comfortable though, so you talked to him

You had also showered extra hard last night, brushed your teeth like five times, and sprayed on tons of body spray

You wanted to smell good oKAY

When you work in such close proximity to someone it can get hellish if you didn’t smell good

And Eren definitely noticed

Bc most of his other MUAs before hadn’t really cared

They’d been in the game so long they’d drink like five cups of coffee and have onions and anchovies for lunch and wake up twenty minutes before the call time but Eren didn’t wanna be mean or embarrass them so he would just hold his breath or breathe through his mouth if he could until they finished

So you were a very nice and welcome change

And he thought you were really pretty

Like REALLY REALLY pretty

You began talking to him bc you wanted to know his comfort level and personality so you could cater your work towards him for comfort

No other reasons you started talking to him

And you slowly realized that 1: Eren Yeager the actor was very different from Eren Yeager the character

He was fun and laidback and kind of flirty if you were being honest

And 2: Eren Yeager the actor was extremely easy to talk to

He didn’t try to hide anything

He was straightforward like his character, but not blunt or harsh

He was also super kind, you noticed

Always talked about his cast mates and directors with respect and fondness

Never put a bad word to anyone’s name

He was also kind of funny

Not even like he was a joker like Connie or Jean

He was just naturally a funny guy somehow

So you found yourself smiling and laughing most of the time you were doing his makeup

And you realized within the short time frame of meeting him that you really enjoyed his presence

(Ngl he realized this about you too)

Once you were finished you pulled away and gave him a mirror

Tbh he didn’t even look at his reflection he just looked at your concentrated face as you fixed his hair or blended something a bit more

And he thanked his lucky stars he was wearing makeup because you were so cute you were making him blush

Poor baby

“It looks great”

You looked down at him with a slight worried expression

“Are you sure? I can blend it more if you want. Maybe I should double check with the director-“

You began to walk away to get someone to check but Eren grabbed your wrist before you could

You turned around and found him looking at you with a soft gaze

His hand around your wrist was warm

It was kinda hard to concentrate

“(Y/N), I promise you, it looks amazing. You’re really talented.”

And you just stood there in shock because

THE Eren Yeager just complimented your work

*screaming inside*

You just kinda stared at him for a second before thanking him

And then you two stayed like that

Which should’ve been awkward but wasn’t

And then the director called everyone to get their costumes and stuff on

Eren snapped out of whatever trance he had been under and let go of your wrist

“Guess that’s my cue”

You nodded and he began to leave but you called after him

“Come back after you get your costume on so I can do some touch ups and fix your hair”

Eren smiled

With any other person he would’ve responded with some sarcastic or mischievous comment

But he just nodded and waved before jogging off

It wasn’t until he had left that you realized how fast your heart had been beating

It was a nice, cloudy day but you decided to stay at the apartment you shared with Jean to catch up on your favourite show. Surprisingly, he stayed home, too, and you thought you could bond over some [show title]. You thought it was going to be a fun, peaceful day with your roommate of almost four months and you thought wrong.

The two of you were splayed on the couch with the snacks now littered on the floor as you attempt to wrestle his grabby hands away from you. His right hand pulling on your ear and the other was pinching your cheek as he practically hovered on top of you. You had no idea why was Jean trying to claw your face off yet here he was, trying to claw your face off.

“Just let me set you up on a date with Marco already!”

“Is this what this is all about?!” You yanked a fistful of his mullet and successfully wrenched him away from you.

“If you don't date now, you're going to die alone.” He threatened as though that meant something to you.

“Jean, I'm nineteen.”

“Nineteen is old!”

“You're old!”

“How dare you, I'm only twenty!” He had the audacity to look offended when what he just said was completely contradicted what he just called your age.

“Well if you said nineteen is old, that only means you're older. A relic! Ancient! Fossil.” You retorted with a glare, crossing your arms in front of your chest.

“Okay, fine, whatever.” Jean huffed, mirroring your position on the couch. “Look, [Name], I promise Marco's a great guy. Maybe even greater than me, maybe, but that's not the point. I'm sure you two will hit it off. And if not, which I highly doubt, then at least you met my friend. Plus you fit his ideal type way too perfectly and he seems the kind of guy that you'll be into, you know? Soft, kind, understanding, mature, practically a saint! He's hella talented, too. And I forgot to mention that you're both from Jinae so that's a huge bonus! [Name], trust me, you'll be head over heels for him.”

You let Jean finish his mini monologue and/or persuasive speech as you positioned yourself more comfortably. You now had your elbow on the armrest and your legs propped up on the coffee table. Your head lies lazily on your hand as you side-eye him blankly.

“If you're so insistent that he's so amazing then why don't you date him instead?”

“Don't be ridiculous.” He grimaced, looking like a child that was forced to eat their vegetables. “You know I like—”

“Mikasa, I know.” You cut him off, snickering. “Everyone knows you like Mikasa. And I mean everyone.”

“Shut up!” He fumed, trying to shake the embarrassment off. “And don't distract me from the subject!”

“Dude, why are you so adamant that I go on a date with Marco? Can't the three of us just, I don't know, all meet up at a café or something? You only want me to meet him anyway.” You shrugged, not really meaning what you said.

“Well, as your best friend, I took the responsibility of not letting you grow old with just cats on some farmhouse in the mountains—”

“My best friend? Since when? I thought Sasha's my best friend?!”

“Since I stepped in this apartment, you heathen. And stop trying to change the topic!”

As you were about to fire something back, your phone rang. Both of your attention was caught by the ringing device on the table that your feet were placed in.

Love is calling...

“Wait, ‘Love’? Excuse me?” Jean stared incredulously at you.

Just to spite, you looked back at him straight in the eyes for emphasis as you slowly picked up the phone and answered the call.

“Hey, Marco.” You greeted the caller, still holding eye contact with the male in front of you. “Yeah, of course, baby... Hmm, nothing really. What about you?”

You couldn't help but smirk when Jean's mouth fell open in both surprise and possibly offence. His face was dumbfounded as he mouthed a ‘what the fuck?’ at you and you just raised an eyebrow at him.

“Just watching tv, actually. Didn't really felt like going out today— oh! And my roommate's here with me right now. Do you want to say hi to Jean?” Your smile widened. “Great! I'll put you on speaker, okay?”

You did just that, holding the phone between you and your still bewildered roommate.

“I— what the hell, man?! You and [Name] are already dating?!” Jean exclaimed on the phone while looking at you, snatching it from your grip.

“Hi, Jean! Yeah, we are. Sorry, I didn't get to introduce you two to each other sooner.” Marco laughed sheepishly on the other side. “Say, why don't the three of us meet up at a café this weekend? I miss [Name] already!”

WWE Royal Rumble 2021 - Initial Thoughts

I know I’m late, but employment is still a thing, and I had to prioritize that over an all-nighter, but it’s time for the Royal Rumble, one of the more exciting shows of WWE’s schedule, so let’s get on with it!

Spoilers for Royal Rumble, you have been Warned

I might not invest too much in kickoff matches but the Women’s Tag Match was not a good time

It was fine before the end, but who the hell decided that Charlotte should control 90% of the champions’ offense and have the hot tag!? Asuka is the RAW WOMEN’S CHAMPION, not Charlotte. After the tag Asuka literally had one spot and she was dead, completely taken out of the match for *checks notes* being thrown over the Announcer’s Table...you know that thing several wrestlers come back from easily.

The finish was just too much too, Ric distraction didn’t work, Lacey distraction didn’t work, Kirufuda Clutch didn’t work but then the brass knuckles did. Too much.

And why TF are we putting titles back on Nia!? We should’ve just given the titles to the Riotts, or the winner of the Women’s Dusty Classic. It also cuts me deep that Asuka and Shayna are treated this way, even as champion Asuka is a side character to Charlotte T_T

Main show though and I don’t like the package and interviews between entrances

Drew vs Goldberg was just...meaningless.

It was cringy enough that Cole had to spout drivel to make 60 year old Goldberg seem strong but to have Drew be ‘injured’ by a barricade spear - something much more tired wrestlers have and will get back up from in less time and continue a longer match - was daft. Also saying that Goldberg’s spear or jackhammer is the best move of all WWE is stupid, it was a WCW thing

Thank God Drew Won, but the post-match does remind you of the meaningless circumstances this feud came about. Suddenly Goldberg is okay with Drew’s same manners of respect

I mean, Carmella’s entrance and gear is cool, but do you think it eats at Corey a little that Carmella’s ‘behind the curtain’ bit is a tad...red light district?

Sasha’s promo didn’t hit for me unfortunately

Reginald didn’t deserve to be ejected for that! He caught Sasha and get beaten up for it

Jesus Carmella! Sasha got barely any of that dive

Screeching and faffing aside, Carmella got a good showing...I do hate quick tap outs in title matches though

Sami cuts a good promo, but his content wasn’t exactly the best. New Day are hardly the management’s faves, it’s taken this long for E to get a singles run, Fans literally had to Yes Movement their way into giving Kofi the world title.

New Day’s Brodie gear was good though

Bad Bunny as the ‘Biggest Latin Artist’? Is Cole for real? I didn’t even know who he was before today

If the song is about Booker T then why is he dancing around GI Bro?

Come on Book, you hang on the Sucka! That’d be like if the Rock just went ‘If ya smell what the Rock is cooking’ without the drags or pauses

Ric’s ‘with a tear in my eye’ promo was after the Rumble though...

It’s actually a sad stat that just over half of the Rumble winners win titles

No Morrison segment for the escape spot!? He did it as much as Kofi dammit!

Sorry Greatest Royal Rumble is not canon for me

This Stat Attack has taken far too long

I’m okay with Mike Rome but couldn’t a woman have announced the Women’s Rumble? Where’s Lillian at!?

NAOOOOOOOMIIIIIIIIIIIIII GIRL WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!?

That hair is amazing as well

I know you can’t say it, but we all remember that Benoit won the rumble in the first two as well

Was...Bianca wearing earrings on her entrance, she looked like she was taking them off

Billie actually had the right idea, can’t be in the match until you enter the ring, it’s clever stuff

That tank did not look like it was meant to turn that direction XD

It actually surprises me every time how tall Shotzi is, I always imagine her short

Billie no...not with Shayna

The piped boos are highly unrealistic to boo even a heel Toni Storm

Shotzi eliminated and then horrible singer Jillian comes in? Urrrrgh, Bad Singer Jillian was terrible

Wrestling wise she hasn’t missed a beat though

Billie’s surprisingly being a highlight here with actual narra-OHMYSHITITSVICTORIA

Gear was a bit meh but Victoria definitely can still go

Oh Peyton the purple looks good on you, and her Widow’s Peak was not bad at all

Ah, good for Santana, for a moment I thought it said Santina and got a very bad chill

Damn Liv, Speed Machine!

Ooof, the betrayal is real Billie

THIS IS MY BRUTALITY!

Somehow I’m genuinely upset by every elimination so far, good job!

Aaaaaand then they got rid of Victoria and brought on Charlotte to immediately take out Rhea -_-

That was a clever move from Bayley but damn Ruby landed hard

Are we seeing a Bayley/Peyton team? Or is she just eliminating the Riotts for revenge for Billie, but also Liv Nooooo!

Naomi’s chemistry with Bianca is really insane right now

Lana *reminded of her feud with Shayna and Nia* Also Lana *goes for Rhea*

That close call though with Rhea and Bianca was great, need more spots of two wrestlers about to be eliminated at the same time

The final bit of chain wrestling too was great, that’s what you need at the final part of a rumble, the mini-match

I had Rhea as my win prediction but am more than happy for Bianca, who was my second choice. Winning at No. 3 is great and her emotional promo just gets her more over. Bianca vs Sasha’s gonna be wild too

Overall the Women’s Rumble was good, most of the women got shine and there were a few mini stories too, do wish that more time was given to some women and that Sonya was in the rumble but the returns were good and most of the eliminations got me good

It was a decent rumble, in hindsight you could tell Edge was winning given how they put express focus on Michaels winning at number on in the stat attack, Edge being face in peril for the first 10 entrants and Cole reminding us how long Edge has been in there

I don’t at all hate the end result, though I do question whether it was the best choice in the long run. Edge had his rumble win returning from injury already and throwing more legends at Drew does imply a heavy lack of depth in the current roster. Edge didn’t really need the win, but I’m not disappointed in him winning

The Men’s Rumble itself wasn’t as good as the women’s I don’t think, a lot of favourites of mine were unceremoniously dumped out quickly, any layered storytelling didn’t get enough time and it did feel a little by the numbers, almost a microcosm of modern WWE booking

Overall it was still a decent PPV, happy with the winners of the rumbles and that’s mostly all we need from a Royal Rumble. The Road to Wrestlemania starts here

Since Broadway is shut down, I’m gonna reflect on the Broadway shows I’ve seen

Beetlejuice: Alex. Brightman. He’s amazing. I went in October so they handed out these cute pins. I was in the orchestra, so right by the stage. Ryan Breslin waved at me during the bows! Best performances go to Alex Brightman, Leslie Kritzer, and Dana Steingold. And Sandy tbh. Best character goes to Miss Argentina, Delia, and Otho. And Sandy. Best song goes to Home. Best part goes to the game show part, especially Otho.

Be More Chill: Honestly, this was probably my least favorite show. I don’t have much to say about it. Like...George Salazar was amazing. Will Roland was too. Besides that...eh? I also saw it before the cast recording came out, so I was disappointed by Pitiful Children. Best performance goes to George Salazar. Best character goes to Michael. Best song goes to Michael In The Bathroom. Best part goes to “Michael makes an entrance”.

The Book of Mormon: I saw this with my mom... Awkward. Especially Joseph Smith American Moses. But it was absolutely hilarious! I loved every second of it. My mom did too. And she didn’t yell at me after! I also found it hilarious that there’s a church across from the theatre. Also, the theatre was the most gorgeous one I’ve been to. Best performance goes to Stephen Ashfield and whoever played Jesus. Best character goes to Elder McKinley. Best song goes to Turn It Off (the vests, man). Best part is a tie, Spooky Mormon Hell Dream (not the best song because I liked the staging more than the actual song) and literally every line Jesus has.

The Cher Show: This was my first one that I still remember well. I also saw Stephanie J. Block without knowing who she was, so... That was fun. Anyway, I thought the show was amazing, especially the choreography and the costumes. Best performance goes to Teal Wicks. Best character goes to Sonny Bono. Best song goes to I Got You Babe, Just Like Jesse James, and If I Could Turn Back Time (I know... It’s a lot). Best part goes to the classic Sonny line, “Stupid tree.”

Dear Evan Hansen: Underwhelming finale. Besides that, it was amazing. The most emotions I’ve felt in a single show. I also accidentally made Alex Boniello break character... I don’t know how, all I did was look at him. And the lady next to me pulled a banana out during intermission... It was weird. Anyway! Best performance goes to Michael Lee Brown. Best character goes to Connor and Jared. Best song goes to You Will Be Found and So Big / So Small. Best part goes to that dance in Sincerely, Me... You know the one.

Hadestown: Magical. Worth the price. Best show experience I’ve ever had. Right before the show, we found out that Andre DeShields was out, and Anthony Chatmon II would be making his Hermes debut. And he killed it. I had no idea it was his debut until I saw it on his Instagram, and I never would’ve guessed. Best performance goes to Reeve Carney and Anthony Chatmon II. Best character goes to Eurydice and Persephone. Best song goes to Wait For Me. Best part goes to the swingy lamps.

Little Shop of Horrors: Also worth the price. Sadly, no Christian Borle. But Chris Dwan was absolutely amazing. Literally the only issue I had with this was Orin never riding out on a motorcycle... Just kidding. Kind of. This show technically shouldn’t be on the list since it was off-Broadway, but...it counts. Anyway, the finale... a bit weird. But it was good. Best performance goes to Gideon Glick for sure. Best character goes to Seymour (Audrey is usually my favorite). Best song goes to Suddenly Seymour and Ya Never Know. Best part goes to Gideon Glick’s dancing. He’s adorable.

Oklahoma!: I knew nothing about this show going in and had extremely low expectations, but it blew me away. Sadly, no Ali Stroker. However, I loved Sasha Hutchings’s performance. And Damon Daunno... Wow. He’s so talented. I also loved everything about Poor Jud Is Dead (Pore Jud Is Daid). Patrick Vaill was perfect. Will Brill was hilarious. Best performance...this is a lot...Patrick Vaill, Will Brill, and Damon Daunno. Best characters, Ado Annie, Ali Hakim, and Aunt Eller. Best songs, Can’t Say No, Pore Jud Is Daid, and It’s a Scandal! It’s a Outrage! Best part is the wedding scene and Pore Jud Is Dead (miles around!)

The Prom: I begged to go to this show. Partially for Anthony Norman, I’m not gonna lie. Fun fact: I saw Patrick Page going into the Walter Kerr while waiting to go inside! Okay, so, Beth Leavel was spectacular. The choreography was amazing (especially the male ensemble). The costumes were also very nice. Best performance goes to Beth Leavel. Best character goes to Barry and Trent. Best song goes to Unruly Heart. Best part goes to all the promposals in You Happened, as well as the male ensemble’s dancing.

Q: What is your coffee order?

Black with simple syrup for when I feel dead, otherwise Americano, two shots of hot milk and one sugar.

Q: What is the coolest thing you’ve ever done?

Survived cancer (once)

Swam with whales in the Atlantic

Hiked the Arctic Tundra

Had dinner with Olympic gold medalist Caster Semenya

Had one of my fanfics picked up by Penguin Random House to be published into a novel.

Q: Who has been your biggest mentor?

Career wise? My mother, she’s a trauma surgeon, works 18 hour days and has 5 kids, in my eyes, she’s God.

For writing? Stephen King even though he doesn’t mentor me lol.

Q: What has been your most memorable writing project?

It’s a toss up between It’s all fun and games, until you catch feelings and Tear in my heart. It’s all fun and games it what really put me on the map as a tumblr writer and Tear in my heart is the story that got picked up to be made into a novel. Both of them are my heart and soul because I poured so much of myself into every chapter.

Q: What does your writing path look like, from the earliest days until now?

I started writing in middle school, most of the time it was my English teacher named Sasha (who till today I credit my creativity too because she helped me so much) who encouraged me to take up creative writing to help me speak better English, as it’s not my first language.

I would write short stories on anything and everything (Mostly Jonas Brother fanficion lmao) and that became Goosebumps fanficiton etc.

I stopped writing for a while even though in high-school I tried to outline a novel a few times but failed at doing so because I had other things like boyfriends at getting engaged at 18 on my mind lol.

I only got into Marvel Fanfiction I think in 2016, I dabbled in reading a few chapters of this and that, mainly Steve Rogers and when I was finally comfortable with it, I posted my first sorta canonically correct fic titled Nothing like home. which is just hot garbage lol

But over time I guess I got better.

Q: What is your favorite part about writing?

Getting feedback from my Beta.

Q: What does a typical day look like for you?

Wake up at 5AM, go to the gym work out for 45 minutes and convince myself I am getting skinny,

Eat breakfast and tell myself I’m fat,

Go to my boring finance job where I get yelled at and cry behind my desk twice a day, work work, work,

Some day’s treatment where I convince myself my hair isn’t thinning and I look fabulous, this never works.

Then lunch, drink a healthy smoothie,

Work again, see clients, move money around, pretend I am Billionaire Tony Stark and I am so cool (jk im not),

See my therapist, talk about how I don’t want to kill myself just bc I’m sick.

Go home, make dinner, annoy my roommate, sit down and write for a few hours, publish some average fanfiction and hope people like it.

Go to sleep and repeat this hum-drum process again for another 40 years.

Q: What does your writing process look like?

I have the following steps when I write:

Get an idea, jot it down. write out the ending or the outline for the ending. So I have a vision of where I am going with this.

Bounce these ideas around with my beta and make a moodboard, those always help me figure out my plot.

Figure out who my characters are going to be eg. Happy Steve? Sad Steve? Angsty? Fluffy? My inspiration depends a LOT on where the idea comes from.

Once i have my characters, I write down who dies, who lives, who ends up sad, happy, what changes their characters will go through and most importantly, how am I getting to the ending I see in sigh.

I write and write and write then bug my beta to make sure the idea is fine, no plot holes etc and I take it from there. Usually the editing process deletes half of the fic but yeah.

And that’s my process haha. it’s hot garbage.

Q: What’s the best advice you’ve gotten?

"You might as well say fuck it and do it anyway because if you die, you die” - My mother

Q: What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned?

It doesn’t hurt to be kind to someone, even if they are shitty to you. One nice word to a stranger can change anyone’s life, your’s included.

Q: What advice would you give someone who wants to start writing?

Don’t stress it too much, don’t over think what you are writing. Just put your idea onto that document/paper. If you feel like it’s not good enough let someone else be the judge of that, hence the idea of a beta.

If you don’t get feedback immediately, don’t be discouraged. it doesn’t mean your work isn’t good enough it just means you haven’t found your audience.

Lastly, If you want to start writing, three things to remember. 1. Don’t get into your own head and discourage yourself. 2. Every idea is great, you just have to find your audience. 3. Creativity starts with an idea.

-grace: shes so ditzy and funny but she’s also super smart. she’s an acting major, she gets under estimated a lot. she’s gorgeous and an amazing singer so i’ve heard. she’s straight.

-maddye: i became closer w her this year at camp than we were last year but now we’re good friends. she is super pretty, she’s straight, she’s thicc af. she’s an acting major.

-kenz: she quit tp for masters classes (bitch) but i fucking love her anyway. she is so funny and SO thicc. she’s bisexual and she is very talented and amazing. she was a vocal major.

-lauren: i didn’t like her last year but she matured a lot and i LOVE her now. she’s straight (but questioning). she is very nice and super funny and relatable.

-evan: we don’t see each other as much this year as we did last year and i miss him. he’s now a vocal major but he was in acting major last year. i don’t know his sexuality but i think he identifies with straight.

-sasha: she had to quit tp but she’s one of the funniest people i’ve ever met. she’s bisexual and she was an acting major. she has a presence like no other person could ever have.

-chrissy: she had to quit because her mom forced her, but she is so fucking funny and relatable and she’s so fun to talk to. she’s bisexual and she was an acting major too.

Searching, Waiting, Looking -Ch02- (Trixya) - Pichitinha

A/N: it took me 84 years but I’m back with a second chapter. This is as cliche as the first one, a little bit longer and overall gay. It’s also on AO3 and I’m here on tumblr as @pichitinha

Chapter 2 - We’re all patiently impatient

Trixie makes absolutely sure that she’ll be at least fifteen minutes early to their agreed coffee meeting because the first time she’d met Katya had been the first time she’d been late to anything in ages and she already hates that that’s the first impression she caused. Granted, Katya hardly looks like the type of person that would hold it against her, but that was a fluke, it’s not who she is, and it’s important for her that Katya knows that. So she’ll be her usual Trixie early, ready for anything with her entire schedule planned out for her - both in her brain and in her little planning book where her whole life is stored, really - and wait for Katya if she has to. She doesn’t mind waiting, she’s used to it, but she wants Katya to know what kind of professional - what kind of person - she is.

As she’s crossing the street to the little café they agreed to meet at, though, she can see Katya turning the corner and arriving at the same time. Maybe she also likes to be early to everything. That’s a quality Trixie loves in people, especially those she has to work with, so she hopes it’s true. Katya looks serene, a bit lost in her thoughts, and it tugs a smile to Trixie’s face.

“Katya, hey!” She waves as she’s crossing once she and Katya are close enough that she doesn’t have to shout. Her outfit today is more tasteful - well, it’s less horrific, more normal and fitting for an afternoon out in a coffee shop, but the pattern is still troublesome and Trixie’s really curious as to how she always makes her looks work when they’re actually are super ugly. Maybe she’s just really naturally pretty.

“Oh, hey! You’re early.” Katya hugs her quickly, more of a squeeze with one arm than an embrace, and Trixie can faintly gather the smell of her shampoo, something light and breezy that she can’t really place but that makes Trixie think of dandelions flying in slow motion and that somehow matches the way Katya’s hair dances in the light wind that’s hitting them on the sidewalk. It’s poetic, almost, and it widens her smile a little.

“I usually am, yesterday was a complete rare event, I swear.” Trixie feels the need to explain herself, for some reason she really wants Katya to be assured of her personal qualities.

Katya merely raises both her hands as if in surrender. “Hey, I’m not the time police. It’s fine. Let’s go in, I really need a coffee.”

They find an empty square table at the back of the café where the light isn’t great - which explains why most of the students in the place are crowded at the tables at the entrance where the sun is peeking through the window - but it’s quiet and there’s space to spread sheets on the surface and it’s not on the way to anything so there shouldn’t be people walking by. Katya orders a black coffee, Trixie sticks with a tea, and soon they’re seated in silence and Trixie wonders where the hell one starts planning a wedding.

(She’d googled it, of course, for hours the previous night. She’s still lost, though. She has no idea what she’s doing. But she’s doing it anyway.)

“So,” Katya looks just as lost as she is, but she’s still very joyful. “How about we play a bit at our actual jobs of pressing a button in a camera and throwing flowers around in a room before we dive into, you know, planning an entire wedding from beginning to end with zero experience?” She places both her elbows at the table as she speaks, rests her head on her hands and opens a very large but clearly dry smile as she finishes her sentence, and Trixie can’t help the laugh - or rather scream, as her friends have complained she does - that escapes her throat. She looks very cute like that, younger somehow with the two pigtails she has adorning her face, and Trixie can see in the hollows of her cheeks the coat of foundation she’s wearing.

“Yeah, ok, that’d be good.” She smiles and settles comfortably into her chair. Katya is as easy to talk to as Sasha had mentioned. “I do more than throw flowers around a room though, sometimes there are ribbons.”

“Oh my, how could I forget the ribbons!”

They laugh together and both start digging papers and photos out of their portfolio bags. They turn to each other, each with a huge stack of things at hand, and both giggle again.

“You go,” Trixie offers, settles her things on the empty chair next to her and watches as Katya spreads a few simple wedding pictures on the table.

Trixie’s barely glanced at them but her jaw drops immediately.

“Ok, so these are some weddings I did where the theme was like fall, which is kinda boring if you ask me, but anyway. So each was with a different decorator and idea, of course, but this is a type of photo I always like to get with the couple no matter what type of wedding it is and I think it translates well, no matter what’s going on around them. What do you think?”

Katya has her eyes on the photos as she speaks, her eyes fidgeting over them as if she is nervous, but now as she asks Trixie the question she can feel her eyes on her, questioning. She doesn’t look at them, though, can’t tear her own eyes away from the raw emotion that’s displayed on the photographs on the table. The scenery is different for all of them, the colors matching in the pastel and hazel fall setting but different in every other aspect, and the poses each couple is in also differs - there’s a man and a woman locked on an embrace, their faces almost touching but their eyes closed, expression serene, and there’s one with two men, one hugging the other from behind with his head buried on his neck, their eyes also closed and happy little smiles, and the others all follow the embrace and eyes closed pattern, but in different ways, different expressions, different everything.

Except for the feeling. Trixie isn’t sure how she does that - how she gets the couple to portray exactly what she has in mind, even - but she feels pure and unadulterated contentment when looking at each and every one of them. She feels calm, in peace, and a little bit in love herself - with what she doesn’t know, but she feels it.

Sasha wasn’t lying when she praised Katya’s work. She has no words.

“I… these are phenomenal, Katya. Like, truly magnificent.”

“Oh, please.” Katya waves her hand, makes light of the situation, but a quick glance is enough for Trixie to notice the faint blush on her cheeks. It’s adorable, really.

“I’m serious, there’s so much emotion in these. How do you do that?”

Katya shrugs sheepishly, lets her fingers roam the pictures as if she’s reminiscing.. “I don’t know. I just… that’s why I became a photographer, you know? It was never about photographing something but rather what that photograph would mean. Does that make sense?”

Weirdly, it makes all the sense in the world to Trixie. That’s why she never sold herself as a wedding decorator per se but ended up doing those almost exclusively. She doesn’t know the couples, doesn’t follow their lives afterwards to know if it worked of if they got divorced the week after, but there’s just something when she’s decorating a room for a wedding, when she knows that the day will be important, even if briefly, even if only then, that the people in there will be at their happiest for a couple of hours at least, it just severely beats down decorating a room for a company fifteen year anniversary.

“It does.” Trixie sighs. “It really does.”

They spend another half hour looking over Katya’s pictures, Trixie’s intent on analyzing every single one carefully resulting in several minutes spent in every set of new photos that Katya displays. Trixie can’t help it, really, she’s beyond amazed with Katya’s talent. And she doesn’t seem bothered, on contrary, seems flattered and even a bit embarrassed at Trixie’s clear awe when looking at the pictures. She keeps pointing out details, describing what feelings she gets from each, and every time Katya seems a bit surprised at how well Trixie reads what she meant to show. Trixie’s proud of herself, if she’s honest.

“We make a great pair,” Katya mentions lightly at yet another one of Trixie’s observations, this time on the last set of photos she has to show, and Trixie feels the corners of her lips tugging into a grin before she can even process it. The words sound nice.

“I’m not saying we don’t, but your pictures are so clear. You’re really talented, anyone would get what your goals are.”

Katya shakes her head, but doesn’t let her smile disappear completely. She looks so pleased and Trixie’s a little pleased with her own self for it. “You’d be surprised.”

Trixie can’t picture anyone looking at what she just looked and not being completely awestruck. Katya’s talent is clear in every colors she uses and to think that people might not see that is mindblowing. “Some people are really dumb.”

“Ugh, stop with the complimenting already, it’s gross!” Katya swats Trixie’s hands away as she jokes, her eyes shining as she gathers her things to put them back in her bag. Trixie laughs at the cute grump face she makes and moves to get her own pictures. Katya seems absurdly interested. “Yes, show me your talents now.”

“Before you see anything you should know that I have unfortunately never had a photographer that could capture my ideas as I wanted them to be captured so don’t judge me too hard.”

Trixie isn’t usually shy about her work - she’s a good decorator and she knows it - but now that it’s her time to share her work her brain is haunting her with everything Katya just showed her - beautiful, amazing works of art -, and it’s hard not to feel overwhelmed.

Katya merely looks at her like she’s grown an extra head. “Uh, I’m a photographer? I’ll be able to tell that the photographer did a bad job, don’t worry.”

Trixie’s heart swells with her plain confidence that whatever she sees will be the photographer’s fault, and Trixie hopes briefly that she’s right, that none of the photos she brought - although chosen very carefully to share her talent - have any of her mediocre decorations, where the time was too little, or the theme too strict, or the couple too unhelping.

Trixie starts with her outdoor wedding photos, knows it’s a bit irrelevant given Shea and Sasha actually have a closed hall, but she loves them and their simplicity and the fact that her decorations have to match the existing nature; and she really wants Katya to see what she’s capable of - what she knows she’s capable of. After what she’s seen of Katya’s work, she wants her to think she’s a worthy partner. She knows she is, she just needs to prove it.

Katya grabs the first one off the table and puts it weirdly close to her face, her eyes squinting and roaming through the entirety of the picture, searching. Trixie is oddly uncomfortable, loves the wedding she’s currently scrutinizing and really hopes she doesn’t hate it because if she does, Trixie doesn’t think she’ll have anything else better to save herself.

“That was such a poor choice of lightning for this photo. They totally missed how a color gradient could have formed with the flowers and the sunset in the back.”

Katya moves to show her, places her finger on the middle of the frame where the intersection between the flowers and the sky is, but Trixie doesn’t look, she doesn’t have to. She had placed those flowers there strategically, had known that the sun setting in the back would create the perfect colors to follow the line of the flowers if taken from the right angle from the ground at the beginning of the carpet. She’d told the photographer that, several times, up until the point he had outright told her he went to school for this and she didn’t. He never did take the picture she wanted, never immortalized the image she envisioned, and the crappy photo she took on her personal phone is the only proof she has of that.

Now Katya’s pointing that out, after maybe staring at the picture for thirty seconds, and she seems sad at the missed opportunity. Trixie’s heart aches for a moment, because that’s a particular event she’s never really forgotten, was never able to replicate again, and she’s part sad by the confirmation that what she wanted was indeed possible, but mostly happy because Katya gets it. She wasn’t there, she didn’t see it, but she gets it.

“Trixie?” Katya asks with arched eyebrows and Trixie notices she’s been staring at her the whole time, mouth probably agape.

“Sorry, I just- hold on.” She takes her phone out of her pocket and frantically looks for the picture she took that day. She had an older phone, then, but she’s saved it through all the months and always has it in her gallery. “Bare in mind that I am not a photographer and this was taken with an old iPhone, ok?”

Katya nods even though she seems lost, and takes Trixie’s phone.

“Oh!” Katya stares at the phone for several long seconds, and then the right side of her lips tugs into a cute side smile, content. Trixie’s heart soars. “Yeah, that’s exactly what I mean. That was wicked smart, Trixie.”

Trixie can feel herself blushing, readjusts a bit on her chair as she feels warmth spreading all over her face and chest in pride. She never realized how much she wanted to be recognized for that feature that’d been gone unnoticed. “Thanks. I’ll never forgive the photographer for not capturing it.”

Katya nods in agreement, eyes still on the crappy picture on her phone. “It truly is a shame. Maybe next time you do something like this you can invite me to take pictures?”

“Yes!” Trixie finds herself nodding before Katya has even finished speaking, her reply perhaps more enthusiastic than necessary. “I think you’re right, we make a great pair.”

Katya finally gives her back the phone, stares at her again like her entire focus and attention are on Trixie and she can practically feel the weight of it. “We do.”

“Ok, so that’s basically it, right?” Katya asks staring up and down the page on her notepad where she and Trixie made a list of everything they have to do for the wedding - well, everything they think they have to do. They looked at several websites and discussed each item to see its real relevance and added a few of their own - are there oddly specific photography and decoration items? Yes - and currently they have an entire written page consisting of no less than seventy-four items.

“Basically,” Trixie snorts. “Yeah, I guess that’s basically it.”

Katya smiles and gives a little laugh, puts down the notebook with a sigh as she leans back on her chair and stretches. Trixie can see a tiny part of her stomach, then, and it’s lighter than her arms but tanner than her face and it’s fully toned. She averts her gaze when Katya speaks again, “So where do we start?”

“By moving to Mexico and pretending we never agreed to any of this?”

Katya’s laugh is loud this time and it fills the entire room and it is undeniably adorable. Trixie can’t help but smile in return. “Good plan,” Katya replies when she manages to stop, leans on the table still completely focused on Trixie. She hasn’t stopped smiling yet. Trixie wouldn’t ever stop smiling if she had her teeth, she thinks.

“I don’t know, there are definitely lots of things to do and we don’t even know the date they’ll get yet. Which, of course, is number one on the list. We don’t have a lot to work on right now.”

“Let’s discuss the couple then, maybe we’ll get some ideas. Tell me about you and Shea, how long have you known each other?”

Trixie feels her smile dropping for a second before she puts it right back on. She loves Shea, she’s been her best friend for years, but she doesn’t like discussing their friendship, especially with someone she just met, no matter how fast and easily they hit it off, even if they’re someone who knows and loves Shea as well.

“I met Shea back when we both still lived in Chicago. When I decided to move there from Milwaukee my friend Kim told me she had a spare room that she and her roommate needed to rent, so there I went. Her roommate was Shea and we became friends very fast. The three of us were inseparable.”

Katya raises her eyebrows, seems weary. “What happened to the third friend?”

“Oh, she’s fine. She still lives in Chicago so we don’t see each other all that much. But we talk everyday, I’m sure she’ll be the maid of honor.”

Trixie stops talking then, feels like she’s given pretty much all of the important details - what else could she say? Katya is still looking at her like she expects more though, and there’s a few uncomfortable silent seconds where neither says anything and both look uncertain.

But Katya recovers quickly, clears her throat and takes it upon herself to share. “So, I’m Russian.”

“Oh?” Trixie isn’t sure where she’s going with this, but she’s glad for the change of subject.

“Yeah. I mean, technically. I was born there but my parents moved to Boston soon after that. But anyway, I met Sasha in Russian 101 in college.”

“Why would you take Russian? Why would Sasha take Russian?”

“She didn’t, she was the TA. I did because I figured it would be an easy A. It was, but that’s neither here nor there.” She makes a dismissive motion with her hand and Trixie laughs at her sly grin.

“You cheated, you mean.”

“They never said a fluent person couldn’t take the entire language curriculum. French and Russian awarded me with an honors degree, thank you very much.”

“Cheating,” Trixie insists.

“Loophole,” Katya replies, a giggly sound marking her sentence. Trixie giggles with her. “But, anyway, we’ve been friends ever since.”

“Was she stupid smart at school, too?” Trixie asks, has always wondered what Sasha was like in college. If she was anything like she pictures, effortlessly good at everything and often praised, Trixie thinks she would have been impossibly jealous had they studied together.

“I don’t think Sasha knows how to be anything other than stupid smart, honestly.”

Trixie chuckles, nods for lack of what to do. “Yeah, I figured.”

There are a few seconds of silence in which they each finish their now cold beverages and Katya takes the opportunity to change her expression to completely serious for the first time.

“Do you… hm, do you like Sasha? Like as a partner for your best friend?”

Trixie feels her jaw dropping instantly, sits up straighter at the shock of the words - or rather her tone. She sounds convinced the answer is actually no. Granted, Trixie has several unresolved personal issues that may or may not have a side effect on how she thinks of Sasha sometimes, but at the end of the day Sasha has been a constant presence in her life for the past three years and she’s been a really good friend and a perfect match for Shea. Trixie genuinely loves her and she really hopes that she doesn’t give off the wrong vibe.

“Oh my god, yes! I adore her. Did she say something? Does she think I don’t?”

“No, no, no! Sorry, Sasha likes you a lot. You just made a face, just now. I thought… I misinterpreted, sorry.”

“Oh.” Trixie doesn’t know how to explain it. She can’t find the proper words when she herself isn’t sure yet of why she sometimes feels the way she does. So she takes the easy road. “Single’s jealousy, I guess.”

“A wedding decorator who wants to get married? Groundbreaking.”

Trixie scream laughs again, swats Katya’s arm lightly. “Shut up!”

“So, is she mad as a hatter or what?”

Trixie and Shea are seated as comfortably as it’s possible on Shea’s ridiculously old couch, the one she’s been saying for over a year she was going to replace and now she won’t because she and Sasha will buy a new one when they move in together after the wedding. They each have a box of chinese food and they are halfway through them when Shea asks about her meeting with Katya.

“She most definitely is. We actually hit it off pretty well.”

“You did?” She raises her eyebrows, seems surprised at that.

“Yeah? Why? I wouldn’t peg her as someone difficult.”

“Oh, she isn’t. I’m surprised by you.”

Trixie kicks her on the shin as she scream laughs. “You bitch!”

Shea laughs out loud, throws her head back for good measure, and Trixie cuckles to herself. She wonders briefly how it’ll be between them once Shea gets married. She wonders if the next however many months they’ll have before the wedding will be like a countdown of last moments like this. The thought leaves a lump on her throat and she tries really hard to force it down with her wine.

“I’m kidding, I’m glad you hit it off. She’s a good friend to have, she’s the most selfless person you’ll ever meet and I’m marrying Sasha.”

“Wow. Is it a Russian thing? It doesn’t sound Russian. She’s as selfless as a Russian. Nah.”

Shea smiles mischievously and places her empty container on the table, picks up her glass of wine. “Wow, you already know she’s Russian? It took me three months.”

Trixie rolls her eyes, is not surprised at all by Shea’s comment and has no doubt about where she’s going: there’s nothing Shea likes more than trying to set Trixie up. Anyone, anytime, anywhere.

“We were discussing how we met you guys. Because we’re planning your wedding. We’re business partners.”

“Sounds kinky.”

Trixie gets up then, fake exasperation. “Oh my god.”

“Sorry, sorry, I’m joking!” Shea laughs and moves to grab Trixie’s arm, pulls her back to sit on the couch. “She’s a catch though, if you’re interested. And she’s gay.”

“Much better than last time when you tried to set me up with your straight coworker, I’ll give you that.”

“She’s not straight, she’s pressured by society’s heteronormativity and she’ll realize that soon enough, give it a year!”

Trixie rolls her eyes. “You’re impossible.”

“Ok,ok!” She surrenders with a motion of her arms, light smile on her lips. “Tell me about my wedding then. Did you plan it all already? Can we do it this Saturday?”

“Yep, in fact we have already reserved the dumpster down the street.”

“Oh, that sounds lovely. How-” Shea stops talking when her phone lights up on the coffee table, Sasha’s name and photo on the screen. “Uh, sorry.”

Trixie dismisses her. “Go ahead.”

Shea gets up to answer the phone on the other room and Trixie takes these few minutes to breathe. She finishes her wine, makes the last sip turn to three as she stares at the apartment that Shea’s lived in since she moved to California a few months after Trixie. It’s familiar to her, like in sitcoms where it’s always the apartment of one of the friends that becomes the point. Kim always stays there when she’s visiting and so does Trannika even if she visits less. Pearl is there constantly and she always has Violet with her and no one is sure why they go to Shea’s place when it’s the furthest and not the biggest, but it’s their thing now, she guesses.

She doesn’t want to be that friend, the best friend in the Bridesmaids movie that gets jealous and bitter and ruins everything because she can’t get a hold of her emotions, but it’s hard when it feels like the last solid thing she’s managed to maintain is going to fall apart. Shea’s friendship is the one thing she managed to keep after all the turmoils in her life - leaving her family in Wisconsin, leaving her friends in Chicago, leaving a string of relationships that she wasn’t able to save everywhere she went. All her friends are married or in a relationship or some even happily single and Trixie still struggles with the ghosts of all her past girlfriends haunting her. She’s not old but she is getting older, and she hates the feeling that she’s stuck while everyone else passes her by. While life passes her by.

She gets up from the couch and grabs all the boxes and dishes to clean the place a little bit, tries to ground herself to the reality of the now and to convince herself that she’s overreacting and things will be fine. Kim lives almost on the other side of the country and their friendship is still one of the strongest bonds Trixie has. She’ll be fine with Shea having a wife. A wife that Trixie knows and likes and is friends with.

Shea is happy and that’s all that matters. It is.

“So Katya thinks you’re ‘one of the most talented people I’ve ever met’, quote, and seems very infatuated by you, says Sasha.” Shea says when she enters the kitchen and finds Trixie pouring herself some more wine, leaving just enough on the bottle for Shea to get half a glass.

“Sasha did not say that.”

“Ok, that’s my interpretation of what Sasha said.”

Trixie rolls her eyes. “You can’t expect me to date every single person you’ve ever met, Shea.”

“I wouldn’t keep trying if you dated one! You’ve been single for like five hundred years, Trixie, you gotta get out there!”

“It’s been like less than a year.”

“Potato, potahto. But anyway, she seemed really impressed with your work, Sasha says she’s looking forward to working with you.”

There’s still some sort of innuendo in Shea’s voice, but Trixie ignores it in lieu of the compliment, smiles despite herself. She can’t help the giddy feeling in her chest at the praise. She loves what she does and she loved Katya’s work and she doesn’t necessarily need validation but she loves that she got it, especially from her. “Me too! Her photos were mindblowing, she’s amazing. Your wedding’s gonna be, like, the best wedding ever made.”

Shea smiles back, seems happy at the prospect, but then she sighs a little. “I know that you’ll be the best decorator in the seven realms and that my wedding is gonna be the most beautiful in all of the lands, but I’m still sad you won’t be my maid of honor.”

Trixie sips on her wine at that, tries to find the right words to reply.

She’s sad too. But it’s better this way.

“You’ll forget about that as soon as you see how magnificent the hall will look.”

“I can’t wait. We’ve decided on a date, by the way. It’ll be in six months.”

“Oh.” Trixie’s not sure how to respond. Six months isn’t that close but she kind of thought they might wait for another year or so. “Already?”

“I know it’s a bit tight for the planning, but you know we don’t want anything too big, right? We’ll make it work, don’t worry.”

Trixie nods, smiles a bit as she pours a tiny bit more wine. The planning. Right. That’s why she’s surprised, because the closer it is the less time she has to plan.

“Of course we will, I’m amazing at what I do.”

“You are a conceited little country gal, that’s what you are.”

Trixie shrugs and grins into her glass. Her insecurities be damned, she’ll focus on the now. “Maybe.”

I hope everyone had their box of tissues ready! This past week was Most Memorable Year Week, which always brings some tears as the stars share important events in their lives. And how did it go for them?

Find out!

Nancy and Val: Why send her home, America? She’s done nothing but improve and entertain. Her rumba in honor of her family was gorgeous and I think she should’ve been on for at least a couple more weeks. It hasn’t escaped my notice that the first three people all voted off have been women--and a talented female competitor ended up in the bottom two this week. I don’t want to play the sex card but it’s getting a bit glaring here.

Juan Pablo and Cheryl: They got the first perfect score of the season--yes, even a ten from Len--and this samba certainly deserved it. We know the samba can be the hardest dance for the stars to learn but he handled it like a pro. Everything was well done. But my concern about him from last week still holds--he may have nowhere else to go, allowing others to surpass him.

Evanna and Keo: We all knew she was going to talk about being cast as Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter movies, right? And I also knew about her battle with an eating disorder as well as J.K. Rowling writing her letters, so I figured that would get mentioned. We’ve seen some other performances to Hedwig’s Theme (AKA the Harry Potter music) but this was gorgeous. It was as if Evanna stepped back into Luna’s skin and was dancing around the Great Hall. Bravo!

Milo and Witney: Of course he picked this year. It really is a good year for him and he said it best--he feels as if his life is really starting to begin. His jive with Witney AKA Whittles was a celebration of that. Milo certainly had the energy for it and though he has to watch his form a bit, he continues to grow as the competition goes on.

Tinashe and Brandon: One, how adorable and supportive are her parents? Two, why the heck were they in the bottom two? Her cha-cha last week was amazing and she followed it up with a gorgeous rumba to her own song. She might need to work on her hips a bit more but otherwise, she just needs to keep rocking on and Brandon needs to keep choreographing kickass routines for her. And America needs to vote for her!

Alexis and Alan: I teared up during her package as she talked about losing her mother. Contemporary suits her well as she has the grace of a dancer and ballet training. She looked almost like a professional as she and Alan danced around the floor, easily wrapping her body around his as she executed his choreography and each lift. She also put in the emotion needed, no doubt helped by the fact that all the stars were allowed to watch their package before dancing. Her sorrow came through and touched everyone.

DeMarcus and Lindsay: His tango was amazing and I loved Bruno’s quip about hoping Lindsay was insured because she was getting tossed around in that routine! DeMarcus caught her easily and had good grips on her, but any one of those tricks could’ve gone wrong. They did seem to have a misstep going back into hold after one of the lifts but they quickly got back in sync. It was sweet to end the routine with his children.

Mary Lou and Sasha: Of course Mary Lou chose when she won the gold medal...but she also finally revealed she had done it after having knee surgery only six weeks earlier. Damn, that’s impressive. Just as impressive as her waltz. She was a bit too focused on it and looked a lot more natural at the end when she hit the final gymnastic pose, most likely relieved once the dance was over. She needs to relax a bit more and trust herself--she’s got it.

Bobby and Sharna: His story was touching as well--struggling to rise above his circumstances and becoming the first person in his family to graduate high school. For the first time, we saw him control his energy and channel it into the dance. Like Alexis, contemporary suited him well as it gave him a bit more free range. This was his best dance and hopefully he can remember how he controlled his energy when he returns to more traditional dances.

John and Emma: His movements might need to be more refined and he might need to work on technique more but he can certainly put emotion into the dance. He and Emma work well together and I can’t wait to see who their trio partner is and what they do.

Joe and Jenna: Okay, look--is he genuinely a nice guy? Yes. Is he cute? Yes. Is he improving? Slowly but yes. Should he still be here? No. He’s trying and I appreciate it. It does look like he’s having fun but it’s starting to get a little silly that he’s safe when someone like Tinashe ends up in the bottom two. As I said earlier, I don’t want to play the sex card...but it does make me wonder if people are only voting for him because they have a crush on him. If so, do you really want to see more talented people keep going home just so you can stare at someone who may reach their level by the finale? Personally, my answer is no but I can’t make that call for anyone else.

Anyway, the remaining contestants will be dancing in trios tomorrow. They will be joined by guests that include past contestants, so it should be fun! I can’t wait to see it.

I’ll just go over all the details of the Reunion and Grand Finale here.

Spoilers, absolutely. This is about Rupaul's Drag Race S10, by the way. So I want to just cover a few things first.

Sasha looked sickening.

Shannel, Nina Flowers and Ongina all looked great.

*Bebe also looked pretty good but I’ve seen her recently in AS3 so.

There aren’t many season 10 queens who didn’t look good. Even then, it’s not the makeup or anything. Some of the outfits are just bland or don’t fit.

Top 4 all show up looking great.

As far as the lip syncs. Eh. Janet Jackson isn’t a favorite for me, and I feel like these weren’t as rewatchable as Sasha’s or basically anything Latrice Royale or Coco Montrese ever got their hands on.

They all showed up gimmicky, of course, because Sasha won that way and the other queens didn’t really have many stops to pull out.

Asia probably had the most creative and yet lackluster reveal. Yes, there were real butterflies. It was an idea. She tried. Nasty probably isn’t the right song for it.

Kameron just had a piece of fabric over a one peice and yeah, I guess I didn’t love or hate it. Just bleh.

Aquaria’s wasn’t my favorite. It was like a nude homage to Vivacious (can we get her on All Stars, by the way?) or Miss Fame. I guess it wasn’t....so bad. She probably could have avoided looking like a fucking burrito, though.

Eureka probably had the most typical yet crowd-pleasing gag. Wig under wig. Big ugly Grimmace fur suit over a pretty nice red thing? Then a body suit. Eureka kills for someone her size, by the way. Kicking and splitting and doing whatever she was doing. I’m amazed.

So Asia is the only one eliminated because yeah. I mean, I guess in the end it should have been Aquaria v. Kameron, but Ru seems to have this thing for Eureka that I kind of admire because nah, I don’t hate her, either. I think she gets shit just like Ginger Minj did and I also think she’s funny and fucking capable of entertaining a crowd so fuck every last one of you hating bitches. Bring it to my inbox.

**ALSO JUST REMEMBERED YUHUA WAS STUN.**

In the end, Aquaria wins because she’s not only talented, but also the safe bet here. We don’t even want to remember how shook we all were when Shea Coulee didn’t win.

Also, I fully believe Ru could have picked Eureka, but she’s so wildly unpopular with fans. Kameron would have been unpopular due to her streak on the show.

Anyway, Aquaria wins and the version of me who posted the last thing I tagged as “RPDR” is very proud... because I was scared after I picked Shea to win in the beginning of S9 and she didn’t.

ALSO. I like how they changed the Miss C. voting to be by the queens. No more fan favorite, huh? I think we would have all voted Monet in, anyway though.

So now I want to explain the finale and the reunion. The reunion was filmed AFTER the Finale. This explains why The Vixen is so happy again (this did this last season, too which probably explains why Shea was so fucking done with it all.) I wish they would just play the reunion the way it’s filmed (after the finale) because I want to hear the thoughts on the winner. I guess in retrospect, it also makes sense why Asia is so snappy with Ru and why Aquaria is just shutting the fuck up over there.

I’m here to give Alexa credit once more for making me give a shit about the Fiend. I do like his entrance, especially without a live crowd.

What a visual... them standing together hand in hand.

I love that they kept the monitors set on the graphics for this segment. No offense to the audience, but seeing them would’ve ruined this.

Amazing transition from Fiend and Alexa to the next segment/match. Major points.

Still a vicious elimination to Lacey by Natalya.

I intend to take this title match as seriously as wwe has - not within a football field of giving a shit. I know how this entire angle ends anyway (preemptive welcome back, Queen) but let’s watch it through. See how this face turn worked out for Lana.

Asuka really is insanely fast, I’ll give her that.

Great rollup attempt by Lana (shades of Nattie/Alexa), great counter by Asuka into the Asuka Lock, and great job to Lana for grabbing the ropes. Points.

I’m sure this is all rehearsed, but Lana obviously puts in the work. Do I think she’ll ever be a singles champion? Absolutely not, but at least she isn’t complacent.

Is it the tables? Is that what led to Lana turning face?

This was good for Asuka. This was good booking. She didn’t look like a chump giving Lana offense, and she looked both strong and smart post-match. Solid.

By that logic, ShaNia owns NXT’s division as well. Just saying.

Really wish they’d nix the “Mandy” intro.

Watching her handle Charlotte and Piper is so impressive. Beast.

“Gone against Bianca Belair and Shayna Baszler,” so got squashed by Bianca and Shayna lmao. Hey, everyone’s got a role I guess. I remember when Alexa was enhancement talent that did a 450 splash and blew glitter all over the stage.

I don’t understand how Ember was wiped out after doing a mere roll off the ropes. It seems like a work since Jessi didn’t react and continued on as if she scored some offense (she didn’t) but that was a nasty landing on Ember’s lower back. Weird.

“You done messed up now,” Ember exclaims, after flipping off a fucking snapmare. I liked her better when she had no personality and just wrestled amazingly.

Is Ember a heel now? She’s acting like a heel. Why is she doing submissions? Why is she talking so much trash? Why is she so arrogant? Not a fan.

A springboard back elbow drop? Intriguing, Jessi. Intriguing. Points.

Jessi was too quick for Ember’s (now slow) setup into her codebreaker out of the corner. I’m gonna watch Charlotte vs Ember from 2019 after this, Ember was a lot quicker and cleaner - also cuz I miss Charlotte.

Yeahhh Ember used Jessi’s hair to pull her head back so she could do a crossface. She’s either a garbage babyface, or a heel.

Welp Dakota just turned babyface. Jeeze she be looking fine too. 10 points.

Dakota should be mad. She bumps like a motherfucker for every person she faces, and she made Ember’s botchy moves look amazing. Sucks she had such a stinker against Io, but there’s no way Ember should be rated higher than Dakota rn.

Interesting to note that Dakota came out on her own, as opposed to bringing - or even sending - Raquel.

Man I really like Nina’s theme song.

After seeing last week’s fucking wrist lock marathon, this aggression is such a breath of fresh air. Not really much of a match, as it a brawl... but that’s perfectly fine lol.

Ahh Nina’s a runner? Interesting, I wouldn’t have guessed that.

Not a fan of Amale’s boots with her gear. Pressing stuff, I know.

Lol thought Nina was about to do a dis-arm-her. Man, I miss Becky.

Nina is a bit awkward with her transitions, I’m noticing.

Beautiful landing of the back body drop by Nina. Practically a swan dive.

Amale did such a lackadaisical pin attempt, and then could barely muster the strength to kick out of one. Ma’am isn’t the worst, but with as green as she is, she should be limited to 3 min sprints.

Seems to be a popular complaint I have with UK, they get gassed insanely easy. wwe needs to build a pc over there or something.

Final Act is a really weak finisher, but considering the speed, I will give points for the way Nina holds her opponent’s neck forward. We like to see performers protecting their partners from getting whiplash.

Love Nina’s voice. Love her whole shtick tbh.

Tbf Bayley, Sasha’s name kind of is bigger than your title, cuz she’s kept herself as an A+ superstar for like 4 years without holding gold. That deserves respect and recognition. That’s a woman keeping solely her name relevant without even being champion. Now in all fairness, I think all 4 of the horsewomen are up to that standing now, but let’s give credit where it’s due.

Sasha deserves to be champion in a meta sense, this is a fact, but man her character is so unlikeable. Like Bayley is a coward and an absolute tool but she still comes off as more genuine. A face turn for Bayley will be so easy. Not asking y’all to rush it wwe, but I’m just saying.

“Just give me the title back and we’ll talk about it,” Bayley says, as if she won’t grab that shit and bolt out of the arena.

Oh that was such a good set up to the spot with Bayley caught upright in the chair. I saw that screenshot months ago, but watching it be set up makes it so much better.

Ma’am I feel like being physically forced and coerced into signing a contract automatically makes it null and void, but hey this is your universe, what do I know.

Vicious - Bayley falling over with a fucking chair wrapped around her neck. Whew what a bump.

“Go help her Cole” LMFAO legit the last person in the company that would come to Bayley’s aid. Good line, Corey. That was a great promo and segment. Mega points.

Hell in a Cell:

Kind of a weak video package for this feud, ngl. They didn’t bother with the Raw women’s championship, didn’t bother with 2019, Raw 2016/2017, nxt... Closest we got were a couple 2 second clips/screenshots.

By definition, this feud has to be one of the biggest disappointments in recent memory. It had the potential to blow Becky/Charlotte out of the water, and didn’t even enter the same stratosphere. Shame. This is a perfectly fine feud in a vacuum... until you remember it’s fucking Sasha and Bayley. Okay I’ll stop beating a dead horse.

If Sasha were a real babyface, she’d drop that awful Snoop remix.

Sasha looks amazing. Love the contrast of Sasha wearing white and Bayley wearing black. Gonna miss Bayley’s old gear though.

Love Bayley spray painting 1-0 on the chair, since we all obsessed over Sasha’s shitty record ahead of this match lmao.

This feud just never picked up that mountain of tension Becky and Charlotte had at Evolution I’M SORRY.

Why can’t everyone do a headscissors takedown as fast as Sasha can.

Such an innovative way of utilizing a table and the cell to deliver a meteora. POINTS FOR SASHA *applause*

So I like the concept of Sasha rolling under the table and pushing it up into Bayley, but the landing of the table near Sasha’s head made me uneasy. I like the concept of Sasha rotating her body on the apron before jumping straight into a meteora against the cell, but the way she landed against the LED was awkward. The ideas are there though.

Cool watching Sasha jump from the apron to scale the cell, then back to the apron, then jumping over Bayley onto the floor. She’s like a rabbit. I’m underselling this tbh, like 95% of the women in the company can’t do the things Sasha can do.

OOF at Bayley being dropkicked into the steps. What a landing.

At this point, I don’t even want to see a women’s hiac match unless Sasha’s in it, or at the very least has a hand in producing it. Ugh she’d be an amazing match producer, whew.

Ugly landing through the kendo stick onto the steps by Sasha. That’s a spot that would’ve received an audible gasp from a live crowd.

Positive on Bayley’s botched kendo stick/tape spot: lends credence to how inexperienced Bayley is with handling weapons in kf, and Bayley did a great job vocally improvising - probably earned herself points backstage. A negative: what a disaster of a spot lmfao. Should’ve had it already created and ready to go beneath the ring, or used a broomstick/crutch for the spot instead. Having people handle tape mid match is stupid. Wasn’t Bayley’s fault, but the crowd would’ve shit all over that lesbireal.

If you’re a specified Sasha fan, you’ll probably deem this the greatest match of Sasha’s career, cuz my god did she look amazing in it (and she actually won) but if you’re not, I’ll tell you, they did not do a good job making Bayley shine at the end of her historic reign imo.

Sasha bout to have a breakdown. Good acting.

This match lacks cohesion. Very spotty, but most of the spots are fucking incredible, so it gets a pass.

I like the ladder on the chairs.

Sasha jumping off the set up ladder to do a meteora in the corner was nice. Sasha using a fucking Bayley to Belly onto the ladder was beautiful.

Sasha looking like she wants to cry. Man she’s amazing.

BEAUTIFUL counter out of the Bayley to Belly by Sasha; dropped Bayley into the chair to set up her Bank Statement inside the chair.

Mega points for that single chair being the center of their entire feud, as the rivalry began and ended with that chair. Bravo there.

That’s it, Bayley’s reign is finally over. This match’s review was hella long, but deservedly so. Extremely happy for Sasha. Took her 4 years on the MR giving people banger after banger before wwe trusted her with a legitimate title reign, but we’ve finally made it.

Highlight(s): Both sunset flips by Bayley & Sasha against the chair & cell, respectively

Dirtybird Campout West Coast 2019: Redefining Renegade Stages & Double Down On The Fun [Event Review]

Dirtybird Campout West returned to Modesto Reservoir Campgrounds in California last weekend from October 4th through October 6th. Founded by Dirtybird Records in 2015 and now in its 6th edition, Head Counselor Claude led his fearless flock over some bumps during the early arrival and marched them through a weekend filled with insanely good music, ridiculously silly/fun games, and a ton of debauchery I blush to even think about. Before the festival, Your EDM teamed up with Dirtybird to give one camper an unforgettable campout memory with VNSSA and much to my delight Dirtybird had me out to join in the grownup summer camp fun as well.

This was not my first Dirtybird Campout West and it definitely won’t be my last. Every year gets better and better, and somehow every year my campout bucket list of things I missed just keeps getting longer and longer. This year I crossed off checking out a live drag show, screen printing, and bingo. And added lap dance for your life, speed dating, and Claude’s new game show “How Long Can It Last.” One experience I will never forget wasn’t a scheduled event but should become one. Dirtybird Storytime. Which was basically just a group of us talking behind the bass lodge stage on Saturday right before the Perkomaniacs but should be moved to a campfire with all of camp to listen while making s’mores. Just a suggestion. While there wasn’t a campfire involved, I did get to sit backstage with Claude VonStroke, a bunch of the label’s artists, and a handful of my fellow campers as Counselor Claude told the story of the Dirtybird Campout festival, how he started as a DJ, and the history of Dirtybird’s very first event at Golden Gate park that had a total of eight people in attendance.**

Claude also shared some of his favorite Campout memories from years past such as a bingo game that led to a 3-way tie for a double-sided dildo with Claude marking how deep they could take it in their throat to determine the winner. Let’s just say Campout will teach everyone new talents they may or may not have already known they had. For anyone who is even thinking of making next year your first, I’ll let Claude VonStroke sell you on getting those tickets the second they drop.

I would say just get involved in everything that is available. The music is amazing. And then there is all this other stuff. You can listen to music for three days straight or you could take a break for one hour and just go do something silly. Which is what I like to do. I’m only good at one game. The water balloon toss. Baby hands. One of the key things is that even if you’re really bad at stuff you should still like try to showcase it. Like on the bad on the silly stages and stuff like. You’re bad at sports just do the games if you’re really bad at comedy still go up there everyone will laugh anyway.

After that epic story from Claude during the press event, I knew I couldn’t miss out on playing bingo. So after the family set on Sunday, I rallied my crew and texted those who weren’t with me and forced them all to go to bingo with me. While I definitely did not get anywhere close to winning and might have gotten more ink on my friend’s faces than my cards, I unquestionably recommend playing bingo at campout if you attend next year. If you have bad bingo luck as I do it’s still a blast and if you have better luck or less ADD you can win some really cool shiz! There was a really nice jacket from Claude’s closet that the host suggested but Claude would not confirm came from Snoop Dogg. And the grand prize was VIB ticket with parking for next year’s campout! Other random Campout highlights included getting a t-shirt screen printed by Sasha Robotti himself on Saturday and then floating on the lake after waiting in the screen printing line for about an hour in the sun. And that’s not even talking about all the amazing sets I heard over the weekend.

The lineup included a solid mix of Dirtybird favorites, drum & bass legends, hip hop sets, and new faces to Campout. Sasha got the techno rocking early in the day and made clacking momentarily festival acceptable even though outside of his new clack song I still firmly stand behind my own personal saying that clack is whack. Black V Neck rocked both the Bird House stage (which I missed) and the campgrounds (which I definitely did not miss but more on that later). Sherelle threw down an incredible drum and bass set with insane dancers (or maybe they were just her friends) popping and locking on the bass lodge stage. And I can’t leave out the Ardy Party parade, where Ardalan previewed his upcoming album Mr. Good which was played by so many artists during their sets such as Claude VonStroke, Justin Martin, and Walker and Royce who got his new song “Lifted” on everyone’s minds and facebook posts requesting for the songs ID. Mr. Good is set to come out on November 2nd and I look forward to posting more details when I share my Campout interview with Ardalan as well.

With only two stages that were relatively close together, I was impressed by the lack of sound bleed and thought that meant there wouldn’t be much conflict on the lineup. I didn’t account for all the other stages that definitely did not exist in the campgrounds and ended up missing quite a few sets because I was lost in the music back at camp. One set I missed, in particular, was Jhene Aiko’s 30 min R&B set. Pre-fest, I was really looking forward to seeing that set in particular because it was the first R&B set that I knew of being at Campout. Unfortunately, between the OG player’s club lineup going on at the Birdhouse at the same time and headliners playing undisclosed renegade sets back at camp, I totally forgot she was even there if I’m completely honest. Watching the videos that have been posted since I got home, I’m not mad that I missed her performance. I love her music, but the vibes I got from the videos I saw were completely different from Dirtybird. There were no friends (or birdies) with her on stage and it was very much her just singing to the crowd instead of playing with them – -if that makes sense? One of the things I love about campout is the idea of inclusiveness and there not being a barrier between the artists and the campers. I love that Dirtybird has slowly been branching out and booking artists outside their label and friends and I hope they continue doing so. But at the same time, when they do, Dirtybird needs to makes sure those artists know what they are signing up for and are willing to embrace the Campout concept by hosting a game and really getting down with the campers. Or maybe even host their own renegade.

Now I know Dirtybird already has a lot of different events in their umbrella but I’m going to double down (see what I did there campers) and say: I want a Dirtybird Renegades tour! And I want it to include the Martin Brother’s Drum & Bass set that got shut down. Because we all deserve more than an hour of that magic. While there were several renegades that get honorable mentions from me: Camp Claw’d VonStroke Sharky Sea Snacks, Brickhouse which hosted Justin Jay’s Fantastic Voyages crew, Freddy Rules with the aforementioned shortened Martin Bros set, Camp Pho keeping everyone fed with both Pho and tunes from Omnom, and of course the renegade in the bathrooms that absolutely did not happen for the VIPee and VIPooers. But hands down the best renegade, in my opinion, was: Camp Double Down! Thanks to some detective work on my part that would make the Olsen Twins proud (aka I got on Facebook) I got their full lineup before dinner time. Hosted by Zereticz And Kirros (Kaleidoscope), Scotty Wolf (Rock Bottom Records), Tadros And Zendlo (Cosmic Cactus), managed by Andy Kim and Tadros (and inspired by their friend Terry) the artists rocking the Double Down Dome were: Sage Armstrong, Justin Jay, Morelia, Wyatt Marshall, Steve Darko, John Summit, Black V Neck, Steady Rock, Luke Andy, Zendlo, Franklyn Watts, El Monk, Foolie, Jazzyuk, Luxo, Posse Sauce, Tadros, Kirros, Almost Famous, Minimize, Pillowtalk, Sirkea, Jaksan, Kivi, Nautilus, Muckmouth, Sammy D. (who happens to be one of the 8 people who attended the very first Dirtybird BBQ), and Zereticz. I salute you all!
