a/n: ohhhh first work hopefully it doesn't totally suck! these are gonna be really random for now (not relationships, just general headcanons) i am going to finish the requests i got months ago, depression has just been beating my ass lately :]
— drums his fingers on everything. whether it be nervous habit or just absent minded stim, he's drumming his fingers. on your leg, on a table, on a cup, on his bass, it doesn't matter.
— veeeeeery proud of his hat collection. it's also his go-to souvenir.
— prefers to date someone his own size so he can steal their clothes, esp if you're afab, you'll be looking at him on stage and yep those are tooootally your jeans.
— very familiar with your local nerd store (comics, collectibles, pokemon). the workers know him by name and tell him whats new in.
— aromantic spectrum, i'd say ace spec but... half of jersey, all of warped. but i totally see him as an avoidant attachment style. he's not the best at emotions whatsoever. he's kinda awkward.
— this boy cannot handle silences. there needs to be music going on or something lest he just say anything that comes to his mind to fill up space. you'd have to be reeeal close to have any comfortable silence. (the silence could 100% be comfy but he just feels so out of place in it)
— behaves like a cat or a lone wolf. he misses you while you're gone but to get some real affection out of him it's on his terms. like "hm. yes this is- GET OFF ME" when he's done (not really, there would be much more tact and he might not say something half the time.)
— can't for the life of him sit in a chair like a normal person / he sits like a queer. chairs you can move? he spun them around and is sitting on it that way. couch? sitting on the arm. against a wall? probably has his legs against the wall laying on his back or has his knees to his chest sitting up. single chair? legs over the side. etc. etc.
— dark humor, that's what she said, or "bleacher? i barely know her!" jokes.
— sometimes has a really hard time talking. if it's important he's gonna write it down and hand you the note, or recite the note. other times he just doesn't speak at all for like a good couple of hours just because he feels like he can't for whatever reason.
— prefers early 00s tech ten-fold. his phone is not past an iphone 6s, he still uses livejournal, myspace, and has an msn or aol email. he prefers his ds or gameboy or nintendo 64 to a switch.
— "how are you?" "oh, i'm fine." "you're listening to ok computer again, no you're not."

90s-inspired dialogue prompts
"Dude, did you hear? The new Nirvana album just dropped. We have to hit the record store before it sells out!"
"I swear, if I don’t beat this level in Mario, I’m throwing the controller across the room!"
"You've got mail! Wait, hold on, my dial-up is still connecting."
"Why would you spend $50 on a pager? Just call me on my landline, duh!"
"Have you seen the new episode of Friends? I need to talk about Ross and Rachel!"
"I'm telling you, AOL chat rooms are where it's at. You can meet people from anywhere!"
"Whatever. As if! Like I’m gonna wear that to the mall."
"Let’s meet up at Blockbuster later. I’m thinking about renting Clueless again."
"I just recorded that new song off the radio onto my mixtape. It's going to be on repeat all day."
"Mom said we could use the car, but we have to rewind the VHS before we return it!"
"No way. I heard they're working on something called a DVD. I don't get it. Why change VHS?"
"The Tamagotchi is dying again. I don't know how many times I can save this thing."
"I just got my first Walkman. CDs sound so much better than cassettes!"
"We should totally prank call that radio station and request Backstreet Boys for the hundredth time."
"Okay, I got a quarter—I'm gonna use the payphone and see if anyone wants to hang out."
"I'm recording TRL later. I can't miss that new Britney Spears music video."
"What do you mean you don’t have a MySpace account? It’s, like, the thing right now."
"If my parents pick up the phone while I’m online, it’s going to cut me off. Don’t call the house!"
"I just burned you a CD with all the best songs from the radio. You’re going to love it!"
"If this Y2K thing actually messes up our computers, I’m never trusting technology again."
Tumblr media
"Dude, you won’t believe what I just found at Blockbuster!"
"No way! Did they finally get 'The Matrix' in stock?"
"Why do you always hog the phone line? I’ve been waiting for my AOL dial-up for like, forever!"
"Chill out, I’m trying to finish this important call on my pager."
"Man, you’re dressed like you just walked out of a Nirvana concert."
"It’s called grunge, bro. You wouldn’t understand."
"I’m telling you, Tamagotchis are like, the future."
"Yeah, if the future is taking care of a digital pet all day."
"I just taped the season finale of ‘Friends,’ wanna come over and watch it?"
"As long as there’s pizza, I’m in. Could I be any more excited?"
"My Tamagotchi just died because I was too busy playing with my new Game Boy Color!"
"You need to get your priorities straight."
"Can you believe they canceled 'Saved by the Bell'? Zack and Kelly forever, man."
"Yeah, but the new season of 'Fresh Prince' is all that."
"I just bought a stack of CDs, now my Discman’s set for the road trip."
"As long as you don’t hit a bump and make it skip!"
"I got an email from this girl I met in a chatroom last night."
"Email? You should’ve just asked for her AIM screen name."
"I heard they're coming out with something called a DVD next year."
"Pfft, like that’ll replace my VHS collection."

This came up on my google discover page and it brought back so many memories. Ugh 😩 I remember phone numbers only being 7 digits. Having to use a pay phone in town as a kid to call mom and check in. Having to run inside as soon as the street light kicked on. The pain of having to buy a separate machine to rewind VHS tapes cause some VCR’s we had we so fucking slow. lol 😆 the sound of dial up and the “you’ve got mail” audio when u log on and have emails. I remember going through aol and they had so many different celebrities saying that famous line and u could change the setting to their voice like Amanda Bynes, Mandy Moore, and so many more. lol what good memories. I think the thing I miss the most is MTV actually playing music and good shows like Daria and Beavis and Butthead and I want beavis and butthead with all the music videos and episodes they’ve hidden.

I hate all manner of file and information transference in the modern era. Moving money? Pay apps. Bank mergers A nightmare.
Logging into "secure" government sites? Impossible. Wait on the phone 8 hours like you're at work with them. A nightmare.
Email to email document transfer? 2fa for each account through a working phone number. A nightmare.
Moving files to and from devices from you already own? Connect to the internet, Bluetooth functionality, privatized licensed files, so many fucking dongles. A nightmare.
I miss AOL. I miss landlines and fax printers that just fucking worked and had industries or whatever for their maintenance so life ran smoothly.
This is like 79 apps when I want 12 max on my phone, much smaller cords, but what feels so like so many more for different functions of the same core shit. This is all horseshit. I'm tired of it.
They are taking our freedoms of not having to think about this shit away. I'm joking, but I'm also dead serious.
Not to sound like a communist but the complete lack of streamlining of all this shit that is tangentially necessary to modern adult work life is insane.
Why do I need 2 kinds of USB cords to perform the same things on computers built within a decade of each other? In my opinion, no USB port on a computer should be a crime. And if your phone has a USB, it should come with both kinds of cord ends for the easiest file transfer in the modern era. The lack of versatility of any one electronic thing. That is intentional bullshit. It always has been, but today, it's feeling particularly absurd as I figure out why having two semi functional computers has me more stuck than when I just had the shitty one.

Out of Context WIPs
Rules: Pick a bunch of your WIPs and summarize them as badly as possible, then ask your followers to vote on which one they’d be most likely to read (or see as art ;)). Multiple/all/none options are completely optional.
Thanks for the tag, @izupie! I tag @icequeen-07 and @singingcookie. No pressure tho, I just thought this would be fun!
Also all these are zelink because I have the brain rot and it IS fatal.

I literally just got an email on my old AOL account telling me someone had added one of my fics from FanFiction.net to their favorites and oh, my god.
What a fucking blast from the past. I have quite literally not used FF since 2016, and looking over my account and seeing all the old fics I read and loved makes me so sad!!!!!!
I miss 2011-2018 fandom and internet culture. I actually miss all my fave Hetalia creators, writers and artists, like what a time that was. That can never be recaptured and it makes me emotional as hell.
Though I did notice some of my fave old pieces aren't on there anymore and that's tragic, shit lost to time.

Welcome to fished-connections!
Have you ever had a really fun interaction with someone in a Webfishing lobby, then never found them again? Ever wanted to share socials with someone cool, only for them to hop off suddenly? Ever been too socially anxious to propose friendship outright?
fished-connections is for you!
How it works:
Send in an ask or email me at fishedconnections[at]aol[dot]com! Describe your interactions with the player you're looking to reconnect with in enough detail so they could recognize it as themselves if they saw it.
Note: including references to a username (e.g.: "your name started with an a", "you had a gibberish username", etc) is okay, but if you include someone's full username in your ask I'll repost it as text with the name censored out of respect for folks' privacy.
Some ideas for what to include: the time and day you were playing together, what age demographic the server was, the player's appearance (species, cosmetics, title, rod), things you talked about, any mail you sent each other, where on the map you hung out the most, etc.
Please also include a way that the person can indicate that they're actually who you hung out with! For example, ask them some specific detail about a conversation or ask them to describe you.
If you submit via email, add a way that someone could contact you (other social media, contact email, etc). If you send on anon, I'll assign you a title! If you think you're the missed connection of an anon, send me an ask or email saying so and I'll post your response!
Sample ask [fictional]:
"You were a blue dog with yellow boots and a baseball hat. You had a really cute username. I was a white cat with alien eyes and overalls. We were on an 18+ server last weekend after midnight CST and talked about fish recipes and music. We were hanging out by the lighthouse most of the time. Tell me the band you introduced me to so I know it's you."
Rules:
Don't be transphobic/homophobic/racist/etc, don't be suggestive in your ask if you're a minor or the missed connection could be a minor, that's all for now :3

it's 2001
i'm chatting with a stranger off of AOL instant messenger or MSN instant messenger
i'm making a website from scratch from either talk city, tripod, or angelfire :/
i'm giving random people my email address
i'm searching music thru yahoo and buying cd's from cdnow
if they want to see me in person, i either a) have to buy a webcam, or b) take pictures of myself with an actual camera and buy a separate scanner, link it to my heavy computer, and just hope that they like me
i really DON'T miss those days

When Mastodon Met Threads 🐘➕🧵🟰❓
It has started:
Mark Zuckerberg announced social network Threads will be starting its activity pub interoperability testing now. 🔗
I have been saying for a very long while now that ActivityPub as a protocol and within it Mastodon as the flagship app need to separate themselves from the fringe in order to gain more traction and usage.
Understand that ActivityPub itself is a protocol not unlike IMAP and HTTP under the W3C. Just like email doesn’t rely on any one server to transport mail traffic across the Internet, By using ActivityPub social media can enjoy the same freedom and transparency. I shouldn’t have to join every single social media and existence to get a complete picture of what everyone is up to… we actually had this about 20 something years ago when the then biggest part of the fledgling social media universe decided to use XMPP as a standard to federate their instant messenger networks. What that meant was my ICQ handle was able to contact all my friends on AOL instant messenger and MSN without having to do anything strange. Ironically it was Facebook that broke this paradigm when they took Facebook messenger behind closed doors in order to add all the functionality that it has now.
Tumblr media
OK, but you know Meta ain’t doin’ this outta the kindness of their hearts, right? 😒
It should not be forgotten that the reason why this is probably happening is because of the very strict policies that the European Union has imposed on how companies operate on the open Internet. It’s far easier for Mattar, the company that owns Facebook to create this new net work and design it from the start with open standards and then slowly bring everything over to it, rather than having to bolt on the same functionality to Facebook or Instagram as it stands now. While it may be seen as a self-serving move on their behalf, I personally welcome it because it means suddenly it might be one less thing to have to join and maintain in order to still be a part of the social media landscape.
Imagine a world where people on TikTok can communicate with people on YouTube and people on twitch. It might sound kind of strange at first but the same is already happening here in the #fediverse with Mastodon , PeerTube, and WordPress.
(Obligatory “how it works” link here.)
This integration is happening methodically and with a lot of advice from all stakeholders it appears; Threads users are going to get a window into the fediverse soon; as I type this, some accounts are getting read-only access. Evan Prodromou, one of the founding architects of the very underpinnings of ActivityPub  (@[email protected] and @[email protected]) has been able to talk to the team over at Meta in charge of this undertaking along with a host of others in the #indieweb realm. Believe me when I say, these discussions got into the weeds and no stone was left untouched according to most of the attendees. This is the part that makes me feel Meta is acting in good faith.
Tumblr media
Will everyone be OK with federation though?
It’s very easy to say “I’m not going to federate with Threads” or “I don’t want to associate with those Mastodon loons” (posts I won’t link to here, but use the appropriate search technique and you will find them in short order). The point is being missed insofar as the networks being interoperable if nothing else for the sake of creating a new standard and influencing the wider internet to “de-silo” all this content is a good thing and needs to be encouraged, not shunned.
As of this writing, there are no official timelines on when any of this will go into effect for us, but I have my educated guesses that it will coincide with the opening of Threads.net to EU signups and the move to be a federated network should keep regulators over there from breaking out the ban hammer. That’s supposed to be in a few days so we’ll see.
Stay tuned!

A pink bedazzled Juicy Couture Sidekick II. Mike was so impressed by Bria’s phone. She got it at the launch party in 2004. It had a web browser, email, AOL instant messenger, a camera, texting, phone calls, and a speaker. He wanted to see how her camera worked, so she took a picture of him. His phone didn’t have a way to get picture messages, so she had to show him what it looked like. Her phone was configured in French, so only she could use it.
Yes, it was the same kind as her sister’s. She had her phone number changed to prevent it from being hacked. Her new number was given to those whom she trusted. Paris also had her number changed, as did a lot of her contacts. Bria found out that they both had ADHD. Did she ever sincerely apologize? Yes, she did. She had the suspicion that she was forced to do so. They talked about how much what she said hurt.
They didn’t have a choice to be sisters because they had the same father, but they had a choice to be friends. She decided to have a friendly relationship, even though it would take a lot of time before they could ever be friends. Paris had no choice but to accept that.
Mike and Bria were in the bathtub together. It was huge! They could move around and not worry about getting water on the floor. They had gone out to dinner together and were caught by the paparazzi walking back to his car. Of course, they had to photograph them. The flashing of their cameras lit up the darkness. It made it almost impossible to see. He had to get them to move because he didn’t want to risk running over anyone. They did move, but they didn’t stop taking pictures.
Not until they drove away. It was frustrating but there was nothing they could do about it. Getting angry was what they wanted. They wanted to poke the lion until it attacked. That’s what sold tabloids. She put her hand on his arm and asked if he was okay. Yes, he was. At a red light, he took her hand into his and kissed it. When they got back to her place, it was forgotten about.
He wanted to spend as much time with her as possible. The band was going back into the studio in about a year. They wanted to do something different than their first two albums, so they were throwing around ideas. Nothing was concrete yet, though they were hoping to work with Rick Rubin. He was a Grammy Award-winning producer, who worked with just about everyone starting in 1980s hip hop and rap music. But he also worked with Johnny Cash.
Brad was going to see if he would be interested in working with them. Their past two albums cemented them as a nu-metal band. Everything they worked for was finally coming together! After starting their label, Machine Shop Records, Bria invested twenty percent in their business. They appreciated it because they were not expecting anything from her.
She believed in them as a band and they owed so much to her. In return, they gave her thirty percent of their earnings. Donn helped draw up paperwork to make it official. They wanted more artists on their label, besides just Linkin Park. Brad was their A&R guy, so he was looking for new talent around LA. She would become a billionaire before she was fifty. Maybe even forty. Rob was continually watching the stock market for her.
Mike pulled her into his lap. He then came in between her legs. The water made it easy for her to move on him. He kissed her before kissing her neck. She moaned in satisfaction. This was what they were missing. Being with each other. If he could, he would have never broken up with her. Phoenix was a great boyfriend, but it wasn’t love. She was love.
Everything about her made him want her more. He saw it the first time he met her. 1998. He played that moment over and over in his head, like a movie. She was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. He had gone back and told Joe about her. Joe teased him for being in love with a girl he didn’t even know. What was so great about her? When he met her, he finally understood why he had been so giddy. She turned heads when she walked into a room.
She had a magnetic personality that made people want to be around her. He thought for sure she had a boyfriend. But, no. She didn’t. For the first time, he met a girl who could match his friends in sarcasm and humor. She wasn’t afraid of fart jokes or other immature humor. He remembered when he brought her home for Christmas dinner.
She talked to his family like she had known them for years. Even when he found out about her wealth, she never looked down upon him. She was the definition of perfection. He lost her because he thought he wanted to experiment with his sexuality. Phoenix never knew how much he regretted hurting her. He couldn’t bring himself to tell him, but he never should have broken up with her. As he finished inside of her, he sighed in relief.
She kissed him before swimming off his lap. He needed that.
“I know we haven’t talked about this, but I need to be honest with you. I am so incredibly in love with you. I never should have broken up with you. I thought I wanted what was in front of me, but I didn’t. I wanted you. I knew I loved you when I saw you. That’s corny, but it’s true. You were the most beautiful woman I’ve seen. You are the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen. I don’t want to lose you again. Will you give me another chance?”
“Yes. You are adorable and I love you!” He laughed. “I love you too.”
She got his hair wet with water. It was black and gorgeous! Her long hair was already soaking wet. He kissed her again. When the water started getting cold, they drained it before getting out. They wrapped themselves with towels. Once they opened the door, they saw Tiny waiting for them angered. Humans, you missed dinner! We’re starving to death!
You can’t reason with a cat, so don’t even try. He laughed. She dried herself off, got dressed, and then went down to the kitchen to feed her two impatient cats. He came down a few minutes later. Yes, they were demanding. They had no sense of time. When they wanted something, they wanted it meow! Would she get another kitten? She was thinking about it, even though she didn’t know what breed she wanted. It didn’t matter, as long the breed was good with other cats.
She used her phone to take pictures of the cats eating. Her phone was going to be full of her cats because they were so cute! He laughed. She had a text message from Chester. He also had a camera phone, so he sent her a picture of himself lifting his shirt to show his abs in the mirror.
Oh my god. My best friend is a stud! Fucking 10 out of 10! You’ll be in the next issue of fucking Playgirl! – Bria
Mike laughed at the text. She also had text messages from Rob, Brad, Joe, and Phoenix. They were mostly inside jokes and goofing around, as they always did. He could visualize Chester laughing his ass off. After putting her phone away, they went out to the living room to play with the cats. Garfield came over and sat on her lap. He took her phone and took a picture. That’s adorable! He laughed.

How Do I Fix AOL mail disappeared Problem?
I understand your concern about missing emails in your AOL Mail. If you're experiencing issues with AOL old email disappeared, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:
Check Spam/Junk Folder: Sometimes, emails can end up in the spam or junk folder by mistake. Make sure to check these folders regularly to see if your missing emails are there. If you find them there, mark them as "Not Spam" or move them to your inbox.
Filters and Rules: Check if you have set up any filters or rules that may be directing incoming emails to specific folders or labels. Adjust or delete any rules that might be causing emails to be missed.
Storage Limit: AOL Mail has a storage limit, so if your mailbox is full, you may not receive new emails. Delete unnecessary emails or archive them to free up space.
Blocked Senders: Ensure that you haven't accidentally blocked the email addresses of senders whose emails you're missing. Go to your settings and review your blocked senders list.
Email Forwarding: If you have set up email forwarding, ensure that it is configured correctly. Emails might be getting forwarded to another address, and that's why you're not seeing them in your AOL inbox.
Check Other Folders: AOL Mail may automatically categorize emails into folders like "Social," "Promotions," or "Updates." Check these folders to see if your missing emails are there.
Check on Multiple Devices: If you access your AOL Mail on multiple devices (e.g., computer, smartphone, tablet), make sure that the issue is consistent across all devices. This will help you determine if the problem is specific to one device or platform.
AOL Server Status: Occasionally, AOL may experience server issues that can affect email delivery. Check the AOL Server Status page or their official social media accounts for any known outages or service disruptions.
Clear Browser Cache: If you're accessing AOL Mail through a web browser, try clearing your browser's cache and cookies. Sometimes, cached data can cause display issues.
Contact AOL Support: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it's a good idea to reach out to AOL Mail support for further assistance. They can provide specific guidance and investigate the problem if it's related to their servers or systems.
Remember to keep your AOL Mail account secure and avoid sharing your password with anyone. Additionally, regularly updating your password is a good practice to maintain account security.
