Honestly yeah this is so true. My high school APES (AP environmental science for you non Americans although idk if other countries do it) teacher always tells us that we have solutions for the majority of the problems we are facing, it’s just the solutions aren’t yet profitable and/or we don’t have the infrastructure yet to implement them (h2 fuel for example). It was both uplifting and depressing because that means we will fix things, but only once we reach a point in which nobody can deny the impact humans have on the environment. Also we need to figure out nuclear fusion and how to get all the precious materials we need for these new technologies without exploiting people and we are good

#enviroment#i fucking love my apes teacher so much he’s such a good teacher#That class legitimately has changed my outlook on life and I’m like halfway done with it#science#Our only enemies are ourselves (but really the government)

Revali!

How does... how does this look! This was what I wore during my time in Lurelin with my human family. They were... unfortunately killed by a wandering Lynel. I must tell you this Revali, but Lynels aren't 'mindlessly' killing anything. When they kill or injure hylians, gerudo, ritos, zoras or gorons, they do it for FUN. I appreciate you ending my species. They killed those that taught me how to read, write, talk, cook, plant, and so many other things. As I mourned, the Lynel that slaughtered the ones who nutured me to who I am laughed in my face and told me I was a fool to love and care for Hylians. That Lynel told me that all life that wasn't a Lynel was nothing but dust under my hoof. I yearn for their deaths. If I die under yours or your mens wings, then so be it, I would be more than proud knowing at least you helped me defeat an enemy of yours and mine. I need your help. Once the Lynels are dead, and they hopefully don't ressurect, I will be more than happy than to give my soul for Rito training. Please accept my request. And don't feel bad about the blood of Lynels on your wings. They DESERVED their deaths.
Walk with me.
How much do you know of philosophy and ethical studys?
Once upon a time, in very ancient days now, Rito were considered 'savage beasts' to Hylians because they did not understand out ways. They hunted us, and so we began to hunt them back. Our two races were violent and cruel to one another, both beleiving the other was a race of unintelligent beasts killing our people for sport.
The truth is, we were all beasts. Those flightless apes killed our women and took our children to study like animals for fun. We would hunt them from the sky and play games shooting down their people - even families. That is what our people had been taught. It's what their parents did, what their grandparents did. They didn't know any better.
Now - much study has been done into Bokoblins. Horrid little beasts - but easy to capture. They do not breed, they have no families. The creatures spawn from Ganon's malice. They feel no complex emotions, no one is entirely certain whether they even have free will or thought. They eat one another, kill anything they see, and truely appear to live only to serve the demon king as mindless puppets.
Typically is no ethical worry about killing Bokoblins. They aren't people - they are barely creatures, mere figments of Ganon's wrath.
This was thought the same for all monsters - at least at first. Now days there is more study being done into Lizalflo - they seem to be capable of forging metal weaponry - something which requires skill and design - suggesting they could have some form of sentiance.
Then there's you. A Lynel that was raised by Hylians to be 'good'. To repress any violent urges, and to live a peaceful life amongst others. If you are capable of being re-conditioned - that suggests that all Lynel are capable of free will and congative thought. Perhaps they do kill for fun - but perhaps that is all they know. If other Lynel were raised in different enviroments, who's to say they also couldn't asimilate into a society? Suddenly - there is our ethical dilema.
We're no longer killing an animal. We're killing a person raised in a bad situation.
However - regardless of this ethical conundrum, I personally have no qualms about revenge murder for the killing of loved ones. Thus, if you take me to those who killed your Hylian kin then I shall gladly do my duties as a warrior to smite them.
Still, your presence here is something I must discus with the Princess regarding how we move forwards with Lynels as a whole. On the one wing, attempting to force them from a young age into more recognisable practises to our own is colonization which I shant stand for, however we simply cannot allow them to assult and kill innocent people either. We must research another way to find peace between us all.

Humans are hard to include in worlds filled by anthros (Sonic aestetic analysis)
Aestetic... a word I like.
This kinda work. Both of them have about same cartoonish proportions, similar head size, similar hands and feet size. The human girl has a thicker body and is bigger, but humans are tricky to include in a world with anthros.
The fact is, since we are humans, the specie is particularly familiar with us. What we are is written in our DNA. If you ask to a blind person to draw a fellow human, the drawing will turn out correct, the very same a person with normal sight woyld do.
So is tricky to avoid the uncanny valley and keeping them recognizable as humans. Humans are also rather large overall compared to hedgehogs and other beasts as specie. In fact we are included in the great apes group. Alongside the gorillas we are the also the tallest so pretty much big animals (but we are also slim).

Actual hedgehogs are as big as human hand, or so. Sonic doesn't need to be this small. Just more balanced.
Humans are always been a presence in Sonic world. Eggman is the most well known. And he has large hands and feet, like Sonic and the other. But his proportions are quite realistic and I think he should look bigger because actually, his head is smaller than Sonic's and the other...

In this scene from Sonic X it works well. Eggman's human features are exaggerated (like the typical human long nose compared to the flat noses of the other apes), and his head is about as large as Sonic's, making him fit the enviroment.
Those are very a little bit awkward. When I complain that the size are awkward is because of Eggman's small head.

This is no-no! She just doesn't match in the universe. Like, she belong somewhere else. Small hands and feet, anime proportions, vintage Italian style doll face...

Back in the '80s I saw some that were even closer to what Maria looks like. There were even drawings of girls who just looked like Maria around, some hanged on walls in my granparents home, I just can't find them not even online (the last time I saw them I was 16).

(Shadow likes those pictures...)
Surprisling Mario fits greatly despite being part of a completely different universe.
With modern style...

And even with SatAM style

Both in Sonic and Mario, humans tend to have small eyes.
Roundish head, large hands and feet, noodle limbs just like the beasts... Eggman obioulsy has small eyes. I figure them being about roundish, like Mario's.

Now, we see some human eyes there. A western aestetic just look better within Sonic world (the aestetic is pretty much western overall, being based on rubber hose style). Maybe hands and feet size could be more balanced...

I don't like Eggman having Majin Bu style eyes like in SatAM and AoStH. I've read somewhere he has regular human eyes. There (Archie) he looks as if he is possessed by an entity, so I wonder, Sonic should try to save him at this point? I imagine is to show that Eggman is a psychopath, but it doesn't do the job. The shape and size of the eyes is fine.

This is a joke... 'never mix styles' I was told 'Characters should look like they're part of the same universe!'...
Even Eggman was changed to have a realistic look, and it sucked.
Elise should be with Cloud Strife and Sephirot, not with Sonic, if we are talking about the style.
Outside Sonic series...
Top Cat
A human and six cats. They fit perfectly in their universe. Like Sonic, the cats are bigger than real cat, still smaller than humans. Heads look perfectly in proportions.
Now, here we are in the opposite territory. The feline is bigger than a human. In fact he is a puma.
Just to show how well human and anthro blend togheter in Hanna&Barbera works. In addition they also have actual four legged beasts, like Scooby Doo.

In Japan antros are rare, yet it can still work it the style is consistent. In Dragon Ball and Dr Slump we have plenty of anthro characters who blend well with humans. And there are also actual four legged beasts.
Some Japanese anthros

In your alien abduction au, you said the boys would be surprised to find out humans eat three meals a day plus snacks, could it be because of our warm blood? That's why, irl, mammals and birds eat more than reptiles and amphibians, because we need more energy to maintain our body temperature, and you said Sun and Moon are kinda of like an amphian species, and that's why they dont eat so much?
This also brings some quirks, because warm blooded beings comes with some kind of way to protect themselves from temperature shifts around them (to maintain their internal heat stable), like fur, feathers and fat, your boys know fur and maybe feathers too but, some species have their own little ways to do it too, like a dogs breathing, but humans, we almost completely lost our fur, that's because we sweat. Do you think sweat and/or oily skin would be strange for them? You said their skin isn't humid like one of an amphian is, but they still use of external enviroment modifications to make themselves confortable, your fic shows it, so would they get weirded out by the strange salty water we produce to lower our temperature? Or the oil to keep our skin from cracking, even in dry places? Im pretty sure humans are the only species to sweat on earth, not sure though, so would that be like, a new thing they've never seen before? Or just rare? Would we shivering from cold get the same reaction?
Sorry it's long, but ever sinse you said they are like amphibians i've been thinking about how sensitive they are, not saying they are fragile thought, dinossaurs were a thing here and we still have crocodiles and aligators, and your boys are big, strong, have claws and teeth, the whole thing, im speaking more of how they are dependent on the external enviroment. Amphibians and reptiles live mostly in hot and humid places because it's easy to regulate themselves like this, but even the ones adapted to harsher ambiances, if they change places they will die. So imagine they are going to a colder planet, im not talking about freezing cold, just 5 or 10°C (50° fahrenheit), we can survive without clothes there, but they need a whole suit to warm them up, because even if a jacket would keep most of the cold out, they dont have internal heat, so they would still freeze at some point.
I think im overthinking. I like your au 👉👈
Welcome to speculative biology, where the fun is the other thinking lol
I do imagine they're cold blooded, yeah. Maybe not in exactly the same way earth animals are (I gotta dig in and do some biology research before I can say anything about their biology for sure-). But the habitable places of their planet largely don't get cold enough to freeze, so there wasn't much evolutionary pressure to evolve adaptations for keeping yourself warm, and then once they evolved to make tools they just... never went to the cold dry parts of the planet. Why bother? But again I am planning to do a masterpost with their definitive biology one of these days that has actual like, scientific explanations
They'd probably be grossed out by sweat yeah, even if theyve seen it before. Other species do sweat, tho, even on earth! Hippos and horses and other apes. Even cats and dogs sweat a little bit on their paws, it's just not their primary method of cooling down. I'd imagine shivering isn't that unusual though, but still probably kinda weird to the boys.
But yeah they don't do too well in the cold. I don't imagine they've ever seen snow in person. The main thing is that they aren't a one to one with any earth animal because their evolutionary line and pressures were so different. So I really gotta do some research before I say anything too definitive here lol because who knows where I'll end up

Tree Creeper from Primeval
This is a Reimagined take on the Tree Creeper trying to make it more unique, and i gave it a fun scientific name Simiaraptor Sylvaticus !
The Simiaraptor is an undiscovered maniraptorian dinosaur and its a new lineage of parave a unique group of paravian dinosaur that look similar to dromaeosaurs but evolved an aboreal life style similar to monkeys and even went as far as to convergently evolve an ape like apparence having longer arms for better reach in climbing and more flexible hands to climb well and also interacting with stuff, they even use their claws to kill prey aswell as their teeth, a very odd thing about this unique group of parave is that they posseses an opposable thumb with claws giving them four fingers unlike all paraves that have 3 fingers suggesting through out evolution there ancestors had polydactyly which they were born with a 4th digit that is their clawed thumb and it seems to have a benefit for them in better climbing and interactions so they now naturally continue to evolve their thumbs to become more useful, they also weirdly have a long and flexible tail unlike their parave relatives who have stiff tails, they uses their tails to wrap around tree branches and even uses them to strangle their prey to death, they are very social creatures and tend to be more friendly towards their kind whilst typically hunting alone they do form in a group to take down larger prey that dwells in the forest they live in, males and females bond for life and even raise their youngs until adulthood, Males have more patterns around their scales and feathers then the females and they are also larger than the females, these Paravian dinosaurs are quite a unique group and there could potentionally be more relatives in other enviroment!
Thats about it for the little info on my reimagined Tree Creeper!
As for my thoughts on the creature himself in primeval i ironically love him alot, yeah its just an anthropomorphic scaly raptor but i cant help but love how it looks in the show and they looked badass and it became my n°1 favorite fictional creature of primeval with second being the Future Predator and Future Burrowing insect in third, back when i first saw it as a child it reminded me of the Dinosauroids by Dale A Russell and also the Lizard from Marvel lol, i also enjoyed the episode where the Tree Creeper got introduced it was very fun to watch and to this i still enjoy watching it Primeval will forever be a great part of my childhood!
you can leave your thoughts on my Reimagined Tree Creeper down here i would really appreciate it ^w^!

My villain origin story has got to be 2016, when with 2 months before my 18th birthday and being eligible to vote, I watched with sinking feelings the lead up to the election, the misogyny, disinformation, puerile twisted selfishness and knowing that we would not have our first woman President.
And then having that confirmed, and knowing a month and a half before finally no longer being a minor, being condescended to with my (justifiable!) anger at having been failed by the adults in the country. I said that this would lead to the fall of Roe, amongst other civil rights, potentially gutting the EPA, and other regulations.
“He wouldn’t try to do that!! That’s not his concern.”
No, but it is the “concern” of the people who voted for him, and the people who he will appoint to the courts.
When I argued with people who didn’t vote for Hillary (my Bernie Bro AP Enviro teacher, my libertarian neighbor) I was berated by my parents, and patronized all around with statements like “it will all work out. And look at it this way, the next four years, you’ll have a spectacle.” Or “I’ll give him two weeks, tops.”
Meanwhile, you had the culture of flagrant sexism and racism (some upticks in antisemitic incidents at school! Even more sexual harassment Yayyy!) making life hell.
Last year, it was Roe being overturned. Yesterday, it’s okay to discriminate against lgbtq people on the grounds of “religious freedom,” (and in addition to harming us it WILL ripple out) and student loan debt relief. The day before it was affirmative action, that great leveler of the playing field.
We will see the consequences of this for years, just as we did with Ronald Reagan’s fucking bullshit.
People, I’m sorry, but we need to vote. Don’t stop there, of course, but you CANNOT throw away your votes, not for president not for congresspeople or senators not for local and state elected officials. Enough of this false equivalence bs.
If it helps, think of voting as harm reduction. It may not be your “ideal,” candidate (lmao like that’s possible) but fuck it, at least minimize the fall out.
I came of age seeing these consequences. And knowing what would come, and having it deliver. And I hate being right about it. It’s not rocket science.

Questions tag!
I'll do the tagging stuff up top!
Tagged by: @monstrousgourmandizingcats
Tagging, if they like: anyone who wants to, mutuals or followers lol
Are you named after anyone?: My first name no, my second is a Saint because that's a thing in my (parent's) culture I guess?
When was the last time you cried?: Depends on what you mean by crying and if tearing up counts. I'm a piss-baby and get easily emotional. I'm just gonna saw within the part month tho to be safe (within the past week if tearing up does count).
Do you have kids?: Lmao, does being an educator count? Because still no as I haven't been in an official teaching position in a few years and the trainings I've given have not been for children, but working adults.
Do you use sarcasm a lot?: Used to a lot more. It's hard to shake off, so ik more silly about my sarcasm to make sure it isn't being taken the wrong way.
What's the first thing you notice about people?: Idk, general appearance, cleanliness, professionalism (if at work), the way they speak (casual vs polite vs rude, any slang/accents). It depends on the context.
What's your eye color?: Black. I could day very dark brown, but they usually come across as black.
Scary movies or happy endings?: These aren't mutually exclusive. Neither, both. Depends.
Any special talents?: I'm very good at teaching/training/explaining. To the point that I consider it a skill to be cocky about.
Where were you born?: My home state. I'm not sharing that with the internet!
What are your hobbies?: Video games, drawing, and various needle crafts. I wish I could get into more paper crafts and sculpting. Not as much writing as I'd hope.
Have you any pets?: :< no...
What sports have you played?: Track and Field
How tall are you?: < 5'5"
Favorite subject in school?: Definitely Advance Geology and AP Enviro Sci (APES). Had a great lecturer/teacher and field trip for both.
Dream job?: Uh... maybe either Professor/Lecturer or just a post doc doing some sort of research idk.
