Questions tag!
I'll do the tagging stuff up top!
Tagged by: @monstrousgourmandizingcats
Tagging, if they like: anyone who wants to, mutuals or followers lol
Are you named after anyone?: My first name no, my second is a Saint because that's a thing in my (parent's) culture I guess?
When was the last time you cried?: Depends on what you mean by crying and if tearing up counts. I'm a piss-baby and get easily emotional. I'm just gonna saw within the part month tho to be safe (within the past week if tearing up does count).
Do you have kids?: Lmao, does being an educator count? Because still no as I haven't been in an official teaching position in a few years and the trainings I've given have not been for children, but working adults.
Do you use sarcasm a lot?: Used to a lot more. It's hard to shake off, so ik more silly about my sarcasm to make sure it isn't being taken the wrong way.
What's the first thing you notice about people?: Idk, general appearance, cleanliness, professionalism (if at work), the way they speak (casual vs polite vs rude, any slang/accents). It depends on the context.
What's your eye color?: Black. I could day very dark brown, but they usually come across as black.
Scary movies or happy endings?: These aren't mutually exclusive. Neither, both. Depends.
Any special talents?: I'm very good at teaching/training/explaining. To the point that I consider it a skill to be cocky about.
Where were you born?: My home state. I'm not sharing that with the internet!
What are your hobbies?: Video games, drawing, and various needle crafts. I wish I could get into more paper crafts and sculpting. Not as much writing as I'd hope.
Have you any pets?: :< no...
What sports have you played?: Track and Field
How tall are you?: < 5'5"
Favorite subject in school?: Definitely Advance Geology and AP Enviro Sci (APES). Had a great lecturer/teacher and field trip for both.
Dream job?: Uh... maybe either Professor/Lecturer or just a post doc doing some sort of research idk.

PSA: use Reddit to find leaked AP exam resources
googling “sample ap physics c exams″: wow finally i found 3 leaked problems from the 2015 mc section only took me two hours to find
googling “ap physics c site:reddit.com”: free pdfs of everything within 5 minutes
---
shitpost aside, it’s actually a good resource and if there’s a bunch of current and past AP students on there willing to help each other out...if there’s a resource you can’t find, make a post and someone will likely try to help! It’s especially active now that it’s near May.

there's a scene in one of my wips where one character helps another character with their biology homework which is a problem because i haven't taken a biology class since middle school
#hannah.txt#i was 2 years ahead as a child so i took bio in 8th grade instead of 10th#and then i couldn't get into ap bio in high school so i took ap enviro instead#and then i was a humanities/arts major in college so i only had to take one gen ed science class and it was comp sci#so i've just managed to avoid it lol

[Honeydew]: So much of the island is unused land right now, and--sure, we’ve got to build on some of it, but we definitely have space to grow more than just what we can grow at the community garden. And if food’s a concern, why not start some farms sooner rather than later? --But there’s some things we should keep in mind when we do! Let’s not go down the industrial farming route. It’s terrible for the environment, and we don’t even have a reason to do it.
[Honeydew]: So here’s a few things I found out! First off, there’s no good reason to till soil, so let’s not do it. That goes for the garden, too. Second--this also goes for the garden--cover crops! Planting stuff like grass or clovers rather than leaving the soil plain will prevent erosion and keep the soil healthy. And we should plant multiple things in the same area. There’s a fancy word for that. Intercropping. ...I could go on, but it might be best to save it for when we’re really starting farms.
[Polo]: You’re in the BC, right?
[Honeydew]: Yeah?
[Polo]: Are you just trying to impress your bacheloret?
[Honeydew]: [blushes] No!!! I’m actually this passionate about this!

Day 10/100 - Thursday Evening
100 Days of Productivity Challenge
One feeling I despise, is the feeling of mediocrity.
It can creep in and ruin the best days, the calmest days, the normal good days that don’t make you want to crawl in a hole and cry. Anxiety that what you’re doing is mediocre or boring makes it really hard to be greatful for these type of days. Today was good.
Things I’m greatful for today:
Thomas being there for me always
Making cookies and watch the new to all the boys I’ve loved before movie with Natalie
Taking good notes in AP Enviro Sci
My study buddies
Films
Fashion
Anthropology
It was a good day.

Americans, rb and put in the tags what’s the weirdest thing a teacher made you use as a hall pass. I’ll go first: AP Enviro Sci teacher had a 1ft tall dinosaur model with “hall pass” sharpied on it. My AP Lit teacher had a piece of a broken particle board shelf with “hall pass” sharpied on it. Honorable mentions to the multiple teachers who used a yard stick.
#pls respond I’m so curious lmfao#nothing like getting to the bathroom and trying to figure out what tf to do with a giant plastic dinosaur while you pee

What are good AP classes to take? Which ones did you like and dislike
Oh gosh. English APs tend to be easier for me. AP Calc and AP Physics are really hard. I hear AP Chem and AP Macroeconomics are hard too. Comp Sci I don’t think is too bad and AP Enviro is pretty good too. Any History or Social Studies AP is kind of middle of the road for me
#it depends a lot on what your school offers and how the teachers are#but this is what I can say going my experiences and the experiences of other people I know#ask#anon ask#anon#good luck nonny!!

Depending on which Ap classes you're already taking, it's doable . I know someone doing both AP calc and stat and theyre doing great but they also have very little free time. But classes psych and enviro involve a lot of the same stuff as stats so it would make the class a tad bit easier
thanks for the insight! i took psych first semester and we def did some stats stuff, and environmental science is the other one i'm self studying, so maybe if there's some overlap that would be a good plan. i'm still considering it- i'm in calc bc, physics, and comp sci a so i'm a little apprehensive about adding the workload for another stem ap but i'm dropping ap spanish to take a free hour so i will technically have more time next semester. we'll see! any other insight + resources about ap stats would be awesome to hear!

Core in Review: Frontiers of Science
De jure: A one-semester class that consists of a 2.5-hour lecture once a week and a two-hour discussion section once a week (of approximately 20 people). Goes through four 3-week “units:” brain and behavior (psych), physics (physics), biodiversity (bio), and earth sciences (enviro). Paper homework every week, about 5 pages, 3 sheets.
De facto: Fro Sci is better known as Faux Sci because that’s basically what it teaches. A very light skimming of basic sciences that might as well be fake. Honestly maybe the worst class I ever took. No that’s a lie. But it’s close. If you took APs in any of the above units, you’ll already know all of the material. If you didn’t, you’ll mostly be fine, except for physics. I never took any physics in high school and that subject ended me. Although some of my friends in the same boat said they did fine in frosci. So it depends. The homework is busywork, and getting the motivation to stay awake during a two-hour discussion section is hard.
Getting the motivation to even go to lecture is harder, because attendance isn’t mandatory for lecture. I maybe went to six lectures the whole semester. Which is a lot. The lecturers aren’t terribly great. We do have Brian Greene for physics, and he’s great. But the others? Not so much. It’s very hard to stay awake during lectures, as they start at 10:30 AM. Also all of the lectures are recorded as podcasts and can be found online, so if you don’t mind taking time out of your own life to review it later, you don’t have to go to lecture at all.
Frosci requires you to buy something called an iClicker, which is basically a small remote that is used for interactive powerpoints. If you’ve ever used Kahoot, it’s basically that but with an actual thing you have to buy in order to select an answer, you can’t do it on your phone (and it’s a lot less lit in general). Which is the biggest waste of money I’ve ever heard. Luckily I got one for free from my discussion instructor, and I think you can do the same. Theoretically it’s used to take attendance, but you can just give your iclicker to someone else and they’ll do your answers for you. So much bullshit.
Tips for acing the class:
Go to lecture if only because it fucking sucks taking another two hours to listen to the podcast or review the slides. Which you’ll have to do eventually.
Take other homework to lecture. I don’t usually recommend multitasking because it doesn’t actually work but in this case it works well enough. You learn enough just by being there, and 2.5 hours is a lot for homework time.
Try to avoid buying an iClicker at full price, or at all.
Keep track of everything that’s due. Not only do you have paper homework in this class, you also have to submit discussion questions online (Piazza) and complete problems on something called Smart Sparrow, and depending on your instructor, they could all be due at different times during the week. Be careful not to miss any because they make up a majority of your participation grade.
If you need help understanding something, which is fair because this class is the most convoluted class ever even though it could be extremely simple, there’s something called Fro Sci Ambassadors which are basically kids who willingly volunteer to take their own time to tutor other students. So if you’re uncomfortable with talking to a grad TA the Ambassadors are going to be your go-to.
