i'd like to request a combination flag of demiplatonic and aplspike with the colors of the purple/blue/green/pale yellow apl flag.
Tumblr media
Here it is, a combo flag of demiplatonic and aplatonicspike.
As for the flag design, both of the flags being combined didn't use any colors of the aplatonic flag, so it was almost like creating a new flag in a way.
I wasn't able to find the flag meaning for -spike orientations, but I guessed that the spike in the middle represented attraction, so I used yellow for platonic attraction there. The greyish stripe and background for spike flags I assume is no attraction, so I used purple, blue, and green there.
The white and grey from demi is for attraction and grey, since the cream stripe from aplatonic also represents that, I just replaced white with cream. The grey I kept at the bottom.
The black on the demi triangle also represents no attraction (like the 3 aplatonic colors), so maybe I could have done something where I combined those. But that part of the demi flag design is so iconic that I thought it'd be best just to keep it.
Okay, rambling over lol.

[ID: Two sets of 5 edits of Kris Dreemur from Deltarune, edited onto aplatonic flags. Kris is in their Dark World outfit in both sets, and they’re holding out a pink sword in the first set and defending with a pink shield in the second set. The flags are: Aplatonic, Yellow Aplatonic, Grey-Aplatonic, Yellow Aplatonic-spike, and the original Aplatonic-spike flag with grey stripes. END ID]

[ID: A flag with a thick light yellow stripe, a thin white stripe, and a thick yellow stripe, with a skinny pink diamond in the center. END ID]
I recently figured out I’m aplatonic-spike, so I wanted to take the a-spike flag redesigns by @i-love-my-trans-body and make one for aplatonic-spike.

Flag redesigns; All my -spike flags!
I wanted to put all the flags in one place, so here they are. I originally designed just the acespike, arospike, and aroacespike flags, but I wanted to complete the set of common attraction types. As for flag meanings...
The white stripe represents the absence of attraction. The other stripe colors specify attraction type, with the pale top stripe representing weak attraction, and the saturated bottom stripe representing strong attraction. The pink diamond represents the “spikes” of feelings themselves.
Definitions:
💜 Asexualspike (ace-spike): An orientation in which someone usually feels little to no sexual attraction, but occasionally has sudden, intense spikes of sexual attraction for a short amount of time.
💚 Aromanticspike (aro-spike): An orientation in which someone usually feels little to no romantic attraction, but occasionally has sudden, intense spikes of romantic attraction for a short amount of time.
💙 AromanticAsexualspike (aroace-spike): An orientation in which someone usually feels little to no romantic or sexual attraction, but occasionally has sudden, intense spikes of romantic or sexual attraction for a short amount of time.
💛 Aplatonicspike (apl-spike): An orientation in which someone usually feels little to no platonic attraction, but occasionally has sudden, intense spikes of platonic attraction for a short amount of time.
🧡 Asensualspike (asen-spike): An orientation in which someone usually feels little to no sensual attraction, but occasionally has sudden, intense spikes of sensual attraction for a short amount of time.
🩷 Anaestheticspike (anae-spike): An orientation in which someone usually feels little to no aesthetic attraction, but occasionally has sudden, intense spikes of aesthetic attraction for a short amount of time.
🩷💛 Aqueerplatonicspike (aqp-spike): An orientation in which someone usually feels little to no queerplatonic attraction, but occasionally has sudden, intense spikes of queerplatonic attraction for a short amount of time.
🩵 Analterousspike (analt-spike): An orientation in which someone usually feels little to no alterous attraction, but occasionally has sudden, intense spikes of alterous attraction for a short amount of time.

I had been following an aro whom I didn't know was aplatonic, and when they answered this ask I related to a lot of what they said. Mainly, the part about never intiating a friendship yourself, and only ever being befriended by other people. That realization is what kick-started my questioning.
To me, being aplatonic means having little to no platonic attraction, as well as having a disconnect when it comes to forming and maintaining friendships. I'm also a loveless aro, so this overlaps in experiencing little to no platonic love.
Personally, I'm grey-aplatonic. I have felt platonic attraction before, but only ever for two people.
I use the AplatonicSpike / AplSpike label, because even when those rare platonic feelings hit me, they tend to not last too long. Similar to the AroSpike and AceSpike labels, AplSpike describes an aplatonic person who usually doesn't experience platonic attraction, but they'll have spikes of experiencing it before dropping back down to no attraction. Which is exactly how all my past experiences with platonic attraction have worked.
I oftentimes see a lot of aros and allos alike gushing and yearning over their friendships. And I don't relate to that. I feel just as disconnected as when I see alloromantics gushing over their romantic relationships.
Just like how I'm aro-ace and don't understand romantic or sexual attraction, I also don't really understand platonic attraction. Even being grey-apl and experiencing it a few times, I'm still not sure how different my rare experiences with it compare to alloplatonics.
I think of platonic relationships on a more logical mindset than I do emotional. The concept of platonic attraction seems too nebulous compared to what I tend to feel. I don't feel any inherent "power of love and friendship" feelings towards them. I just think, "hey this person is nice and supportive and we get along and have shared interests and both like to infodump to each other, so because of that we're friends."
Yet at the same time, having felt platonic attraction before, I kind of know what its like to have a sudden emotional attraction / affection for someone. At that time, it wasn't based on much logic. One was being drawn to a classmate in a "this person seems so cool I wanna befriend them and talk to them so bad!!!" way and the other was for a friend where I suddenly felt "omg I love them so much!!!" They were pretty strange feelings for me that came out of nowhere, as someone who turned out to be AplSpike.
To be honest, I'm not even entirely sure if what I felt was platonic attraction. Sometimes I have doubts whether platonic attraction is even a real thing. And other times I think, what else could it be if it wasn't platonic attraction? I had imposter syndrome about being aplatonic for a while, but then I realized: even if i'm wrong about understanding platonic attraction, I still think I'm aplspec. Because no matter where the "level" of average platonic attraction is, I don't think I reach it.
I also tend to have time blindness when it comes to my friendships, which seems to be a pretty common aplatonic experience. It doesn't really bother me when my friends stop talking or seeing me for a time. I'd be perfectly fine picking our friendship back up again like no time passed, be it a week or month or even year later. They'll tend to have an emotional "I miss you so much!!!" reaction, whereas mine tends to be "i miss you" in more of a "i wish we could have hung out" way instead of actually emotionally missing them, if that makes sense?
I guess what I want alloplatonic people to know is that... emotions are complicated. I feel like aplatonic people, loveless people, and low empathy people all have very similar experiences and struggles, when it comes to being judged for feelings that they simply don't feel. Just because someone may not love platonically, or at all, or have little to no empathy, that doesn't mean they are heartless or evil or don't care about you. They just experience emotions differently, and usually its a struggle to navigate society when people respond in different emotional ways from you. I'm aplatonic and loveless (in a 'i feel no tertiary attractions' way) and I'm pretty sure I'm low empathy as well. I really don't Get a lot of people's emotional responses, and they don't seem to understand mine either.
I've dealt a lot with feeling like I'm a bad person for not being as emotional about or in-tune with friendships as others seem to. Morality and friendship tend to go hand-in-hand in society and definitely has affected me.
I'm honestly pretty nervous for my friends to find out I'm aplatonic. I've mentioned aplatonic and loveless people to them before and they seemed understanding and receptive, but its kind of another thing for them to realize that I don't "love" them. I appreciate them for so many things and I care about their well-being, but I don't "love" them. I have a hard time wrapping my head around what it even means, what people actually feel when they give declarations of love, be it romantic or platonic or familial.
Aplatonic people, share your stories! I want to know how you realized you were apl, what apl means to you, and things you want alloplatonic people to know!!

I use 3 aplatonic spectrum labels, all in different ways and for different aspects of my identity:
I think aplatonic-spike accurately describes how i experience my rare moments of platonic attraction. It comes spiking out of no where, only to later die down and disappear again.
Meanwhile i feel that grey-platonic accurately describes how often i experience platonic attraction. As an identity, grey means “little or rare attraction”, and is sometimes considered “a-spec with (an) exception(s)”. I have only experienced platonic attraction a few times and only to a few people.
And then i use aplatonic as an umbrella term to say that i am not allo-platonic. i do not experience platonic attraction to people often, and i do not relate to allo-platonic experiences or views on relationships, and i feel quite alienated and othered by allo-platonic people. In aplatonic spaces, i find community and kinship and i relate to tons of aplatonic experiences.

I saw a post you made about being aplatonic-spike and was wondering if that was a term you came up with? I haven't seen any other blogs talking about it before
No, I didn’t coin it. I actually first heard about it here earlier this year, and the term clicked with how i experienced my grey-aplatonicism.
The post says it was coined anonymously, and I’m pretty sure it was taken from the a-spec roots like Aro-spike and Ace-spike.
It looks like there’s several ways to spell it (aplatonic-spike, apl-spike, aplatoni-spike, platoni-spike) but I can’t find any other posts in any of those tags...
But I’m open to questions if you have any and want to ask me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

[ID: The first image in the ask is the aplatonic-spike pride flag, that has one thick light yellow stripe, one thin white stripe, and one thick medium yellow stripe, with a pink diamond overlayed over the flag. The second image in the ask is the ficto-platonic flag, that has stripes that are black / grey / yellow / grey / black, and a pink circle with a black outline overlayed over the flag.
Both images in the post body are digital art of an apple, that is colored to be the aplatonic-spike and ficto-platonic pride flags, respectfully. In both images, the background is light pink, there's four dark pink sparkles above the apple, and the apple has a single green leaf attached to its stem. End ID]
