Are we just going to ignore the fact that tv writers in the last 10 or so years have figured out that they can continue to pander to homophobes and simultaneously get queer rep brownie points by never showing any actual queer content at all, having a character in 52 different m/f relationships, never once alluding to them being into same sex stuff… and then just giving a one sentence easily-edited-out vague confirmation of them being bisexual?

this is a g*yl*r comment that kinda makes sense out of context - and, trust, they’re not my vice but some of the tayvis people are ABSOLUTELY going buckwild over gender in very depressing ways all the time - but the behavior in question is that travis (a professional football player) was watching football on his phone at the US open and some commenter was like “i can’t believe both taylor and i have to put up with this 😂”…. i feel like this is a pretty harmless thing to joke about putting up with and that while it’s possible said commenter is with some guy who emotionally neglects her to hide in his mancave during football season “putting up with” your partner’s little Things (which again in this case is not actually travis’s hobby it’s his literal job) is a gender neutral concept. for example my partner has to put up with me talking about the g*yl*r quotes i don’t bother to post here

Hywel is inspired by a mix of my issues with stories with nonhuman protagonist/about nonhumans becoming human AND vet posts ive seen warning people about the dangers of anthropomorphisizing animals. Its fine to joke about your pets doing things out of spite or other human emotions, it does put you at risk of not being able to read their body language correctly. Cats dont cry out of sadness, a cat crying, with actual tears streaming down its face, is a sign of a medical issue. A dog smiling isn't doing it bc its happy, it means its nervous. Not being able to spot these is bad, and sometimes even dangerous, for you and the animal.

If you never get past Hywel's human appearance and treat him like one its like getting a reactive dog, doing zero research or training, and then taking it to a dog park. If Hywel mauls someone in town then its on you.

honestly, i'll just say this: if you think she has "no lore" and she's just "literally shallow", there are three possibilities:

you have never listened to her voice lines files outside of the cutscenes (and even then... there's so much that you can gather and unpack, so... it really ties directly into the next point i believe)

you have never learned to look into the implications and context and analyze a character with a critical and complex approach

you just hold her to a much higher fucking standards than a lot of other characters in this game and i really wonder why (i don't)
