Do you think the Sonic franchise would be universally accepted if it were to go into the direction set out by the SatAM cartoon (e.g. roboticization, Robotnik with demonic pitch-black eyes and a robotic arm, Sonic being part of the Freedom Fighter ragtag group) instead of the direction it took from the country of origin (e.g. Eggman being round and wears glasses, having colorful and surreal places)?

Well, let me ask you what you mean by that, because by 1993 Sonic the Hedgehog was a pretty big household name. Kids knew who he was, their parents knew who he was, and just in North America, he had two TV shows and a comic book. He was everywhere. That counts as "universally accepted" right?

And I suppose this is what you mean, right? Sonic was massively popular in the 1990's, when Sega of America changed so much about his identity to suit the region's tastes. And now, Sonic isn't as popular, so are the two data points related?

To me, this just feels like a broader version of "Robotnik was a better name than Eggman, because things were better when they called him Robotnik." And that has always been extremely circumstantial.

To my viewpoint, SatAM was extremely of its time. Cartoons were shifting in a certain direction -- typically the "Saturday Morning Cartoon" was something colorful and funny. There wasn't a lot of serious storytelling going on. It was stuff like Looney Tunes, but also things like G.I. Joe or Transformers, where they were more about action than meaningful plot.

That probably started to change around the time Fox debuted the X-Men cartoon in the 90's. This cartoon took stories from the comic books and (poorly) adapted them in to a Saturday Morning format. It was inscrutable and kids like me found it hard to follow, but my brother, who is 14 years older than me and was probably in his mid-to-late 20's, found it pretty fascinating. It broadened the format a little bit and soon the floodgates broken open.

Spider-man, Batman, Gargoyles, soon Saturday mornings were awash with darker, edgier, more serious cartoons for older kids. Even the Ninja Turtles, who were broken from the Transformers mold of colorful, action-based shows, was reworked to look darker and more serious. And right at the end of that first wave of shows was SatAM. Right place, right time, right vibe.

That... ended. Batman was eventually replaced with Batman & Robin, that was eventually supplanted with Superman Adventures, then the two shows were combined in to Batman & Superman Adventures, and every time it got retooled, the tone got lighter, and lighter, pushing back towards the old action shows of the 80's. Gargoyles went in the opposite direction, retooling itself in to "The Goliath Chronicles," becoming so self-serious it borderlined on a Saturday Morning soap opera. It lasted barely a whole season and most modern continuations of the Gargoyles mythos ignore it entirely. The "Red Sky" Ninja Turtles has more or less been treated the same, with extremely sparse home releases until it eventually landed on streaming a few years ago.

The Sonic comics kept the SatAM cast alive and relevant, yes. But obviously Batman comics stuck around, too. And Spider-man, X-men, and Ninja Turtles. That was the format a lot of these shows were trying to copy to begin with, so it makes sense that SatAM would transition to comics fairly painlessly.

To circle back around to how successful the games are or aren't, it's hard for me to cite this now because I always looked at the TSSZ article for it and now that's gone, but somewhere around 2010 or 2011, the Sonic franchise was actually listed as one of the most profitable entertainment franchises in the world that year, rubbing elbows with the likes of Pokemon and such. This was years after SatAM had fallen out of favor and the comics were starting to hit the skids because their availability was going down (this was a problem in the comics industry as a whole, not just for Sonic).

Meaning that, largely, the success of Sonic at that point was due to the games and 8 year old reruns of Sonic X. And it still landed in this top ten. I'd love to find this article, really I would, but it's impossible to google now thanks to so many other articles praising the Sonic movie for being the highest grossing video game movie of all time, mixed in with articles about how the Sonic fast food chain is dying and what happened to it.

At the very least, Sonic rates to make it on the Wikipedia list of "Highest Grossing Media Franchises." It rates high enough that it beats out Fortnite, Halo, Minecraft, My Little Pony, and Roblox.

Also, to back up a bit, consider: the Sonic movie did really well. And it wasn't Ken Penders' pitch for a SatAM movie, it was something wholly different.

And then consider the outrageous success of Sonic Mania. The most critically acclaimed Sonic game since 1994. Though sales figures aren't super clear, I'd estimate it's also probably the best selling Sonic game in the last decade and a half. There is nary a hint of the Freedom Fighters or "that Robotnik" in that game anywhere.

I love the Freedom Fighters. I love SatAM Robotnik. I'd love for them to come back in an official capacity. I'd love for the Archie comics to officially pick up right where they left off and keep going as if they never missed a beat. It burns me that Archie or Ken Penders or both forever tainted a lot of that stuff so badly that it's become an exclusion zone nobody wants to touch anymore. I've talked at length on this blog about how I think a character like Princess Sally was a perfect foil for Sonic and how they played off of each other extremely well. I want that back. I want Bunnie Rabbot back. I want Antoine back. I want Robotropolis back. And Snively. And Ixis Naugus.

But also, at some point, you have to look at the cold, hard truth: Sonic doesn't need those characters, it doesn't need that universe, and the SatAM version Sonic would not exist at all if it wasn't for the original Japanese Sonic first. SatAM was supplemental material to the main version of the thing people already liked. That's the entire reason something like Sonic Mania could achieve the success it did.

And that's all there really is to it.

Part 4

After breakfast, MJ and Archie went out to the nearest store to buy something for the baby. “It’s very nice of you to take me out to buy my little sister a present, but are you sure you want to spend on me?” Archie asked. “Of course, I would love to buy baby clothes for your mother, just to make it easier for her and your dad.” MJ said. “I’ve never got to go out for baby clothes or items ever since I’ve met Jason... And now I can; so I’m more than oblige to help you buy a baby gift.” MJ added while rubbing Archie’s back.

At the baby store, MJ was looking through some cute baby clothes, she was having a hard time choosing just one, so she thought of going for a value deal; where people can buy multiples for one price.

While MJ continues browsing, Archie was looking through baby toys, he wanted to give his baby sister something soft and cuddly, to keep her well secured. Then he spotted a pink bunny, he was sure that she will love it; especially if it’s nice and soft.

“I think I’ve found something for my sister.” Archie called out to MJ. She took a look at the bunny, it was soft and adorable. The price is a little high, but she decided to not say anything. “You’ve made a fantastic choice, sweetie... If you want, you can also buy your mom flowers; they’re on sale for half price.” MJ suggested. Archie smiled big by the idea, so he decided to pay for the flowers himself, since it’s the only thing he can afford.

As MJ was going to pay for the products, she was having trouble getting the right amount of change, so Archie decided to use his hypno-powers; like he did for Malon a while back as she was trying to buy a mother’s day present. So the cashier stared into Archie’s hypnotic eyes and made the cashier say what he wanted him to say. “Actually ma’am, you can just pay half the amount for the products, I’d be more than grateful to pay the rest.” The cashier said. “Seriously? Well... I don’t want to get you in trouble--” “it’s fine...” The cashier cut off. MJ shrugged and only paid half the amount for the products.

When the two of them got back to the cabin, Archie noticed his dad waiting for his son to return. “There’s my big boy!” Pennywise cheered. It was very unexpected, but he assumes that it’s because he was excited. “What you got there, son?” Pennywise asked. I bought my little sister a bunny. Archie showed the bunny to his dad. Malon awed from the background as Pennywise smiled at his son. “That’s very kind of you, son, but you didn’t have to do that.” Pennywise said. “I know... But I wanted to.” Archie replied. Then MJ came into the scene. “I also took the liberty to pick out baby outfits for your new daughter.” MJ said before she passed the gift bag to Pennywise. “Gee... Thanks M’s, I feel like I’m being showered with gifts.” Pennywise chuckled. Then he looked down at his son. “We better get going son, Jason and I packed your bags already.” Pennywise explained. 

Archie said his goodbyes to the Voorhees before he left with his dad to meet his mom and the new baby. “Mommy, when can I see the baby?” Malon asked her mom. “We’ll give the Grays a week or two, it’s a friendly thing to do; Archie’s mom will need lots of rest.” MJ explained. Malon accepted her mom’s answer, she just doesn’t understand why Star needed rest after getting her baby delivered by the stork; clearly she doesn’t understand the birds and the bees yet, which is good for now, since she’s still too young to understand or undertake.

Back at the Neibolt House, Aquarius was breastfeeding her baby while Cassandra fixes Papawise’s nose. “Is Aquarius always this violent?” Papawise asked. “She can be if it’s necessary; you have been making a lot of dirty jokes lately.” Cassandra answered. “You don’t seem to be offended though.” Papawise realized. “I’ve been hearing and seeing a lot of these jokes, back when I was in training at a Medical Training School, the guys love to make these jokes a lot with a silicone patient.” Cassandra explained. “A patient made out of silicone, I hope it doesn’t kick me in the nose.” Papawise chuckled. “If it did, then your nose wouldn’t be as bloody... Now hold still, I almost got it.” Cassandra said as she was relocating his nose. Papawise couldn’t stop staring at Cassandra’s face, sure she’s full human, but he can fix that if she’s interested. “So uh... If you’re ever free on Sundays, maybe we can--” Everything was interrupted when they heard the door opening. Pennywise and his son came back from a long walk from Camp Crystal Lake.

Cassandra was finished fixing Papawise’s nose, so Papawise can see his favorite little clown-boy. “Hiya Bucko: Big Brother Archie!” Papawise exclaimed as he gave Archie a playful punch. “Alright Papawise, I’m back now with my son, so you may as well head for home.” Pennywise said, as he finds that Papawise has overstayed his welcome. “I better get a move on anyway; let me know if you needed me to hunt for you...” Papawise said to Pennywise, before he looked down at Archie. “I’m going to enjoy going out hunting with you, son.” Papawise said before he left. Archie raised his eyebrow; what does he mean by ‘going out hunting’? He was going to ask his dad until he was being dragged towards his parent’s room. “You wait here son, I’ll go in first, just to see if your mom is ready to see you.” Pennywise said before he enters the room.

Archie waits patiently outside while he thinks about what his Papawise said about going out hunting with him. “Is being a big brother mean I have to do hard torture? Am I becoming a demon by force?...” Archie keeps thinking until he heard his dad coming out. “Your mom is ready to see you, are you ready to meet your sister?” Pennywise asked calmly. Archie looked up at his dad before he answered. “May I ask you something first?” Archie asked. Pennywise was surprised, he thought his son was anxious to see his new sister, of course he accepted his son’s request. “What’s up, son?” Pennywise asked after he sat down next to his son. “Dad... Why am I going out hunting with Papawise? is that what being a big brother is all about?” Archie asked. Pennywise made a calm smile before he answered. “Of course not, it’s only for at least a week or two until your mom is well rested; your mom won’t be able to do her daily routines like she used to, so she’s going to need my help with the baby. I just wanted to make sure you stay occupied and not feel left out.” Pennywise explained. Archie thought about what his dad said; it didn’t sound promising, but he didn’t want to argue, so he’s accepting this new temporary routine.

After the friendly conversation, Pennywise lets Archie in to meet his mom and his sister. “Hi Archie!” Aquarius greeted in a quiet tone. Archie smiled big with excitement, until he snapped out a little to give his mom flowers. “Hi mom, I bought you flowers...” Archie said before he places it on the side table. “Thank you sweetie, they’re beautiful... Are you ready to meet Kandy?” Aquarius asked with a calm smile. Archie nodded with a smile before he was gestured to get on the bed with her. 

Aquarius lifted the top of the burrito blanket to present the baby to her son. “This is Kandy Gumdrop Gray; your baby sister.” Aquarius introduced. Archie made a slow happy gasp. “She’s... She’s so small... She’s got such curly hair... like a clown.” Archie said. “Dad gave her the middle name ‘Gumdrop’ did he?” Archie asked with a smirk, before he faced his dad. “Yes... I must admit it’s adorable...” Aquarius answered with a little giggle. Archie approached to his baby sister. “Don’t worry Kandy... I won’t let anyone make fun of you for your name.” Archie whispered, which made Kandy giggle. “Would you like to hold her, sweetie?” Aquarius asked. “Can I?” Archie asked in shock. “Of course, son, you’re her big brother; you two should acquaint with each other...” Pennywise said, as he sat next to Archie to help him hold the baby.

When Aquarius hands the baby to Archie, he couldn’t help but smile at his baby sister. “Hi Kandy... I’m your big brother...” Archie said before he gently booped her nose. Kandy looked up at her big purple-haired brother as she was checking him out; she stick out her little tiny hand as she wanted to hold his finger. Archie stick out his finger towards her so she can hold it. “Whoa, she’s strong...” Archie said as he was amazed by her strength.

Cassandra then came in with her camera, she wanted to take a picture of the family of demon clowns. “Alright, say--” “SAY ‘FAT CHUBBIEEES’!” Pennywise exclaimed. It was harsh but they had a great laugh, which gave them the perfect smile, and a perfect family picture.

[Bonus]

It was evening, so it means it’s time for Archie to go to bed, as Pennywise tried to find his son, he senses that Archie was in the nursery. 

Archie was in the nursery, holding his baby sister close, Kandy was drifting off to sleep, thanks to Archie’s calm humming of a familiar tune that his mother hummed when he was a baby.

Pennywise smiled fondly before he quietly took a camera and took a picture. Then he quietly entered the room to meet his son. “Hiya son... What are you doing with your sister?” Pennywise asked quietly. “It’s bedtime, and Kandy was awake, so I’m rocking her to sleep.” Archie answered quietly. Pennywise looked over at his new daughter, seeing that she is indeed sleeping peacefully. “Somehow, I knew you’d be a fantastic big brother... I’m proud of you, son...” Pennywise said while gently rubbing his son’s head. “Thanks dad... I’ve learned that from the best.” Archie winked. Pennywise made a creepy giggle to his son’s response; his giggles actually made Kandy laugh in her sleep, which is adorable. “How about I put Kandy into her crib, while you get ready for bed?” Pennywise whispered before he carefully took Kandy out of his son’s arms. Archie kissed Kandy before he gets ready for bed. “Goodnight Kandy, I’ll see you in the morning.” Archie whispered. “Goodnight son.” Pennywise said to his son before he left the room.

Before Pennywise puts Kandy into her crib, he stares at her while smiling. “I will teach you how to be a murderous demon clown, just like your Daddywise...” Then he gave her multiple kisses before putting her into her crib. “Sweet dreams, my little gumdrop.” Pennywise whispers before he turns out the light to let his baby girl sleep. 

It was exhausting, even on a first night... But it was worth it; Aquarius gets the special treatment from her husband, Archie is happy with his baby sister, and Pennywise has another little bundle of joy in his life. Still... Nobody knows how Kandy will turn out; will she be more devious like her daddy? or will she be more like her mom and her big brother? 

No one knows until the next adventure story

Pitch Me your thing!

HELLO HELLO MY SUNBEAMS. For most every category, there was an impressive turn-out for pitches, so I thought we’d utilize the weirdness of this year’s GIFTENING to give something new a try. The popular vote winner for each category will happen on the first day, but on the second, the winner will be chosen from YOUR PITCHES. Mostly those pitches will be to me. The exception is in Miscellaneous, where you’ll be pitching to my family, because what I want to do and what is most entertaining isn’t necessarily the same thing.

So! How will we do this thing? GLAD YOU ASKED. I’ll link you to a form in a minute with space for one pitch. Once you fill it out, you’ll be asked if you want to do another. There’s no limit to the number of pitches you can send in! But remember that if you submit multiple entries for the same category, you’ll basically be competing against yourself.

NOW WE’VE GOT SOME RULES FOR DOING THIS (which I mostly stole from Holligay, because I have no creativity this year). Please read them carefully! I’ll toss pitches that break any of these, and I’d rather your hard work not go to waste.

//Depends on what you mean by “deserves better”. As you probably already know, both this blog and @of-honor-and-theives​ (which follows this blog’s canon) are canon-divergent and heavily headcanon-based. A lot of the Sonic muses I rp as were satAM/Archie Sonic characters and I think we all know how...weird the early Archie Comics were. In terms of the canon portrayal, I’d have to say that Julie, Dulcy, Saffron, Sally, and even Geoffrey all deserved to be portrayed better and while Sally was able to be portrayed much better later on, I had to take some creative liberties in terms of Julie, Dulcy, Saffron and Geoffrey (especially Saffron).

//Below the cut, I’ll explain who deserves better in terms of ic portrayal. Just a warning that there are dark themes ahead.

//As for who deserves better in terms of ic portrayal, I’d have to go with Marshalia Abadeer, my Adventure Time OC over at @thesecretsister​. While all of the character I play have had rough pasts (i.e. Marsha was bullied in Knothole, Bunnie was half-roboticized, Sally and Elias lost their father when he was banished into the Special Zone, Lillian over at @chicagohxart​ tried to kill herself twice, etc.), it’s still nothing compared to Marshalia’s story. Marshalia lost her mother and was separated from her older sister, Marceline, when she was 2. She has a scar that goes over her left eye that she gained that day, temperately blinding her in said eye. She doesn’t consciously remember this day (or her mother in general) as Marshalia’s (and Marceline’s) father, Hunson Abadeer, used a memory spell to wipe the memory clean. From that day, Hunson would become overprotective of her, which leads to a great deal of Marshalia’s frustrations. In addition, with Marceline missing, Marshalia had come to assume that she was to become Hunson’s heir. So, despite being so very young, began to teach herself. She read books, watched documentaries that made her almost unfazable by horror movies, she even began to practice magic after practically begging Hunson to teach her. And while she became very knowledgeable, the demons of her father’s dimension would whisper to themselves about her.

//The one thing Marshalia lacked was a chaotic evil nature. She liked cute things, animals, especially ponies and unicorns, and her favorite color was pink. It were these interests that earned her weird looks and there were times, Marshalia recalls, that even Hunson gave her a weird look. As much as she tried, she could never seem to escape her father’s looming shadow.

//The older Marshalia gets, the more frustrated she gets. Frustrated over being treated like a baby. Frustrated over being second best. Her frustration, jealousy, and resentment leads her to pushing everyone away, including both Marceline and Hunson, who did genuinely care about her. Her jealousy warps her mind until finally, she goes on the attack.

//As the Nightmare Princess, she attacks Hunson and engages him into a magic duel. Just as it seems as Hunson is going to win, Nightmare Princess launches one final attack, using Marshalia’s soul as it’s power source. Hunson destroyed the attack quickly, but at the same time, destroyed Marshalia’s soul. After seeing what he had done, he turned to the only thing he knew that could fix this: magic. Through the power of dark magic and demon sacrifices, Hunson made a new soul for Marshalia and brought her back. She woke up a few hours later and it didn’t take long for her to figure out what had happened.

//Too scared to face Hunson after that, she ran away. She left a note on her bed, telling Hunson not to come and find her, but Hunson sent out several imp servants to find her and bring her back. But Marshalia refuses to go back.

//Being on the run in the Land of Ooo isn’t easy, and after a few years of running, Marshalia learned how to hide. And it had worked for over 900 years. She lives in a small cottage in the middle of a deep and thick forest, with her only frequent company being a corpse she animated. And while she has managed to make a living selling potions and hexes, she still lives in constant fear of being found out and brought back to her father.

//At first glance, Marshalia appears to be someone who just hates everything. She can be mean-spirited, short-tempered, and dour. But she’s acts this way to shield herself from being hurt anymore than she already has. In reality, she is still that shy, sweet and curious little girl she once was, but is too scared to show others who she really is. On top of this, Marshalia is also very socially awkward, having been mostly sheltered as a child mixed in with the fact that she has Autism and has a hard time knowing how to talk to others and has a hard time expressing her own feelings in a healthy way. Add on the fact that Marshalia has powers that are tied heavily to her emotions, then you’ve got a socially awkward, emotional mess of a person.

//She tends to think about Hunson a lot, too. Even though she left him a goodbye note, she never properly said goodbye or even apologized, even though she wants to. She feels like she is a huge disappointment to him and just an embarrassment to the Abadeer family name. Deep down, Marshalia still kinda looks up to Hunson and Marceline but at the same time, she very much jealous of both of them. Their success always makes Marshalia feel insecure about herself and being compared to them just makes Marshalia’s blood boil.

//So yeah, Marshalia has issues.

Preference- Riverdale Core Four Animals

A/n: Because you all seem to like my first Riverdale Preference and I need to try to get my muse back for writing my series I figured I’d give you another one. This time however it’s just Fluff with your Core Four ft. Cheryl & Reggie. If you want me to expand further on any of these preferences and make it into a one-shot just comment which one you’d want to read more of.

Archie Andrews

You wanted a dog. Archie had Vegas but that was his dog, he’d had him since he was a kid. You couldn’t see him as anything but Archie’s dog. So you started looking at the pounds for rescue dogs some of the older ones since you’d never had anything other than a fish to take care of growing up so training a puppy was out of the questions your first go ahead. This was Riverdale though so Archie soon found out about your Saturday vists to the pound. He asked you why you were going and you told him honestly that you wanted a dog.

To say the least Archie didn’t like the idea but he couldn’t figure out a solution to the delema at hand. Your parents wouldn’t help you, heck they barely even took care of you on a good day. He knew Pop’s didn’t pay you enough to feed yourself, feed and dog, and save up for college. So naturally he asked Juggie for help. I was Jugs idea to have you practice with Vegas considering he was older and had everything he needed. Not to mention Archie would get more time with you. Jug even offered to have you take Hotdog for sleepovers once Archie thought you were ready.

It was probably a good thing you didn’t get your own dog right away you’d been horrible to start out.

Betty Cooper

Betty didn’t mind that you wanted a dog as long as you let her train it and stick to spoiling the lucky animal you picked. You were ecstatic when it came to your dog, Ivar, and spoiled him like you would your own child. Betty told you to have a firmer hand when it came to your boy. That was until you explained the dynamic to her. 

Betty was Alpha Mama she loved him, trained him, and in return he submitted and obeyed her because in the end she was in charge and he new that. 

You, on the other hand, were Beta Mama. You gave him wiggle room to test your boundries and enjoy his life to the greastest. That meant when you got cross about something he did you were scarier to that german shepard than Betty could ever be. (and he never did that thing again.)

Jughead Jones III

After college, once the two of you settled down you eventually approached the idea of a pet. Jughead didn’t like that idea, sure having Hotdog IV over for the occasional sleepover was fine. He was the Surpents’ dog, they all took care of him. What you were suggesting however was perminate.

So you being you found a way. The next time you asked you asked if you could foster.

1) There would be a constant rotation of dogs

2) They’d be in need of a home like a certain beanie-wearing teenage boy was

3) Hotdog would have friends to play with

After months of asking he finally gave up at let you get your foster animals. A choice he regrets every time you cry when one of the dogs has to go, but that was his loving fiance for you. A heart too big for her body able to love anyone, even this beanie-wearing college graduate.

Veronica Lodge

Honestly, Veronica couldn’t care less that you’d gotten an animal and she proved that when she finally noticed after 3 weeks that there was a bunny chilling on the bed. “You... got a bunny...” You nodded picking up your fluffy albino rabbit to place back in her cage. “Since when?”

“Weeks V.” Betts supplied for you setting up her stuff so you guys could study for your SATs.

“Oh well he’s cute... I guess.”

“Yes, Luna is adorable, and also female.” You replied walking downstairs to get some snack food for you girls to eat. Veronica likes to think it was the bunny that was the reason you both broke up. Everyone else, however, knew it was because of her lack of attention after opening her speakeasy. That’s why you got Luna so you’d have someone to hold when you got home.

Reggie Mantle

What his princess wanted, is what his princess got. Even if that was the ugliest mutt he’d ever seen. When he first saw it missing an eye with horrid burn scars on his left flank Reggie he wondered how you came to pick such a dog. You were sweet but this dog looked like it would kill you in your sleep.

Once you walked out from the kitchen the dog ran to you ready for pets tail swinging around wildly. You obliged with the biggest smile he’d ever seen. “Who’s my big, brave boy...” You said to the dog.

“I thought I was,” Reggie said hand over his heart faking hurt. You stood opening your arms to hug him and he moved about one step towards you before that beast growled in protest. “Great.” He needs the dog's approval, but at least he’d know you had a very intimidating guard dog to protect you while he wasn’t there.

Cheryl Blossom

Cheryl didn’t mind the fact that you wanted an animal in the house. She drove you straight to the breeder she knew in Greendale to pick out the fluffy baby you wanted to take home. You choose a beautiful black kitten bright green eyes Cheryl said reminded her of Jason’s. Pleased with your choice she paid and you were on your way. 

However, Cheryl regretted getting you that demon spawn from hell because it wouldn’t leave you alone! It was your baby and you cuddled it everywhere until Cheryl got it it’s own Blossom red throne that she could place (more like shove) that fur ball in order to get her cuddles and love from you.

No matter you love your two needy girls.

Unbreakable by Fireflight - I just love the spirit of this song! Like, religious undertones aside, it’s all about a girl fighting off her fears and demons to make herself unstoppable. It screams “Bunnie” to me.

21st Century Girl by Willow Smith - It’s a strange one but I think it may be because I saw an AMV of Bunnie with this song many years ago? And since then I kind of associate it with a young Bunnie deciding to accept her cybernetic parts and rock the world. (Post-Reboot continuity)

do you have anything to say about the au where fred becomes a famous musician because i would like to hear it

i have many things to say!!! not a coherent timeline so much as lots of snapshots but i have many feelings!!! 

1. he leaves riverdale!! i dont remember if fred said anything in the flashback about there being a good music scene in riverdale (which... yeah right fred) but there is simply no way you can become a world famous musician without leaving your extremely small town so im thinking post grad he plays in a bunch of the small bars and stuff where the fredheads played in high school and everyone thinks they have promise but he realizes he’s going to have to head to the big city if he wants to make it so he packs up all his stuff and drives off into his very uncertain future with his guitar :’) a brave boy 

2. i vibe with fp still joining the army and meeting fred again later or possibly also being part of freds band still and moving with him. either or. the band keeps changing but fp always sticks around. freds the standout act though and its clear he has something special... he gets a lot of good feedback and eventually auditions for a record label and gets an agent and a deal and all the good stuff, just him, not the band, but they still get to be part of the recording process. also he possibly changes the bands name at some point?? it becomes fred andrews and the ___ (idk what yet but ill get back to you) cuz no one in the city thinks the fredheads is funny.... rude. 

3. i don’t think he’d ever change his name, but maybe he goes by freddie a lot more? and he definitely inherits a dope rock n roll nickname/moniker at some point but idk what i havent thought that far ahead. his sound is like... very john cougar, definitely bruce inspired, a lil kurt cobain. does that make sense to anyone but me? doesn’t matter. he writes a lot of songs about love but also about small town life, his relationship with his parents, oh and a lot of gay subtext. but keep it subtext. for now... his songwriting is very wholesome apple pie but also anti establishment so he appeals to a wide range. 

4. he definitely gets a springsteen themed tattoo. mayb 2. and pierces the heck out of his ears. stickers all over his blue guitar... FUCK THE DRAFT pins on his studded denim vest... nevertheless he starts off as a hearthrob. the general public gets one glimpse of his big chocolate eyes and then the teen magazines are all after him.... he doesn’t let fame influence him though and he’s very mature and sweet in interviews. 

5. his look starts heavy bruce inspired but eventually it comes into more of his own. he wears bruce tshirts onstage all the time :”) hes def worn flannel onstage. at first hes scared to wear makeup but then he starts busting out the eyeliner and then when he gets brave with that its not unusual for him to incorporate some glitter... 

6. hes very lovely with female fans and very friendly with male fans and his agent is always wanting to arrange relationships with actresses or whatnot for PR... but he doesnt actually date a whole lot. young fred definitely flirts around and has some VERY close male “friends” he goes to clubs with but he rarely has time for anything long term and its mostly just brief relationships and hookups. you can’t take the slut outta the boy tho.... he’s always lovin someone somehow. 

7. at first he’s terrified of associating himself with the lgbt+ community because he just knows hes gonna get outed and he’s not ready for that yet... but he refuses to deny rumours because he doesn’t want to disparage them either. eventually he gets more comfortable in his skin and starts speaking out for gay rights and incorporates some rainbow stickers onto his guitar :’) he gets by somehow the same way he did in high school where he’s kinda flamboyant but everyone’s so charmed by him that straight people think he’s straight. whatever works. 

8. his mom and dad come to almost all of his shows!!! 

9. he’s a BIG philanthropist and he’s always speaking out for social causes and writing special songs for charity. 

10. hes very private about his pill addiction and he’s a functioning addict for awhile when he’s popping pills to deal with stage injuries and to keep him wired for shows. eventually he goes through rehab but its kept VERY hush hush. fps there for him the whole time... and his parents. he’s also dealing with depression behind the facade but he’s overall happy during the day to day bc he’s doing what he loves. 

11. he still wants kids really bad and he meets mary (she’s his lawyer?) somehow when hes in his mid-late 20s and everyones shocked when they start dating and get married. they have archie and fred takes some time off to be a dad... but he’s still writing lots of songs and he dotes on his baby like crazy. when archie’s older and he’s touring artie and bunny watch him (artie never died cuz i say so.. but fine if he is dead then just bunny) 

12. he and mary get an amicable divorce when archie’s 10 or 12... and he finally realizes that fp’s been right in front of him all this time (he’s still in freds band!!) and they finally start dating and fall in love!! fp has his own demons but they help each other through and fred starts inviting him out onto the stage to sing with him and they write songs together :’) he finally comes out publicly because he and fp want to be public with their relationship :’)’ ‘ ‘ ‘

13. he absolutely meets bruce springsteen and bruce comes to one of his shows and he makes the whole audience sing happy birthday to bruce.. and at some benefit concert or something he gets to share the stage with him and hes the happiest man in the whole world the end

Ever had that weird feeling when you’re sitting (or peeing) and suddenly it’s like you’re losing everything? (I mean, ok, you’re losing your pee, lol). Everything just becomes too much, and you either prepare to cry, (bonus points if you curl up in a fetal position, ‘cause on the toilet seat that's practically gymnastics) or grab a bag of popcorn, your midnight bathroom snack, not caring that you’re going bonkers (I respect that, you da hood). Except for the buttered popcorn, nothing about it is fun, yet it’s happened to every single one of us.

To cut short this intro, here’s how NOT to lose your shit. It’s time to take complete ownership of your life (someone cue the dramatic music, I don’t have a stereo. #BROKE-AF).

Someone amazing once said “your brain is your most valuable tool.” That's true. Once you learn how to control your mind, you will start to see that we, being the dumb idiots that we are, over-complicate the simplest of things. You’re not losing your shit (but finish that popcorn anyway). Your mind just convinced you that you are. My wise friend once said that it’s either you directing your mind or it’s the other way around. Show your mind who’s boss and conquer it. Here’s how:

Don’t make excuses. Not only does it piss off Miss Honey and your dog (your dog has better things to eat, my dude), but it robs you of the opportunity to learn from your mistakes. As I always say, life is not a report card. It's never perfect, and it’s the little flaws that push you to aim higher. In the end, life is just growth as a human being (or as a basic hoe, like me). Here’s an example of taking full responsibility for your actions:

 Action: You didn’t submit your essay on time.

 Normal response:  “I didn’t know about the essay.”

                               “My dog ate up my entire computer.”

                               “I was saving the world from zombies.”

Conqueror talk: “I didn’t get in my essay, for that no excuse is valid. I have learned from this and you can expect better next time.”

Miss Honey will be pleased.

I’m a firm believer that emotions hinder productivity. Now, don’t get me wrong, emotions are great. There are many things to shed tears on. Tris from Divergent died. Trump became President. You just got friend-zoned. It’s great to have emotions in cases like these. But when it comes down to getting work done, it’s better to have a firm control over them.

Imagine trying to finish that crappy essay 3 mins before your deadline when Sophia from book club comes up all like “Did you hear what Archie just said to me? He’s such a jerk.” That’s torture. Honestly, it's a miracle we get team assignments done because there is always that one friend who’s either crying over an ex or dying over how cute puppies are.

When working, choose productivity over pride. The reason being, it not only affects your quality of work by distracting you but also makes you the 90 year old grannie shouting from behind in the supermarket line. People legit fly away in the other direction when they see you.

But of course, in other cases, go ahead and release the waterworks. I’m still crying over Mufasa’s death anyway.

(I’m about to get deep, wearing that diving suit, alright). Conquering is hard. There’ll be days when you’ll feel like doing anything but that boring report Miss Honey assigned. Like, who cares whether the Nile or the Amazon is longer?

However, the mindset of a conqueror is so strong that the little demon called procrastination doesn’t stand a chance. You’ll see us partying the whole weekend because we already slayed ‘em rivers and hunted down those fishies Friday. Wanna join in? Here are some aspects of the conqueror mindset: 

Procrastination isn’t allowed. We understand that procrastination not only wastes precious time but basically means partying on a guilty mind. We would rather be that person drinking all them shots than be Abby sitting in the corner, worrying about her calc HW.

Discipline. Every conqueror knows that things need to be done at the right time (and in the right way, of course). Playing slither.io is great, but if you’re hooked for 7 hours and your poor report on rivers has turned into a dust bunny, then mate, you are not conquering. Get up and get the job done already.

Time management. It’s 11:58 pm. Your report (lol, get a grip mate) has finally been wiped of all that dust, and you’re settling to start on it. You open the first page of the assignment and have a mini heart attack. It says: Due by 12 am, xx Feb ‘18). To become a conqueror, hence, you must learn to travel back in time. JK. To become a conqueror, it’s important to value time because it's priceless. A year from now, those hours you spent eating all that snake kill in slither.io won't mean shit, but if you grind, if you choose to work hard, then every single moment will be memorable and pay off.

So, how do you do it? Ok, grab your notebook, grab your cauldron, and jot down. Let’s see what we got here... ‘Add a horn of bicorn’ and just a little bit of -what’s that- salamander blood?” *Potion explodes* Um, sorry for that mess. *Waves wand to clean*

Point is, there’s no secret spell to becoming disciplined and focused. Put down that wand, please. I’ll explain.

If you truly want to take control of your life, you must know your why. Why do you want to? Maybe you’re sick of procrastinating and letting yourself down? Maybe you're tired of being a couch potato and want to get that ass to the gym? Maybe Abby wants to drink them tequila shots too? Because unless you really want it, you won’t get it. It’s important to know your why and let it lead you into battle as your motivation.

In short, you have to be a superhero (I choose to be Superwoman!) and learn to conquer your life before you save Kim from the fire. Your life is truly valuable, and here's a secret: If you want to get results you have never gotten before, you're going to have to do things you've never done before. Everyone gets the same 24 hours in a day, the same opportunities, and the same chances to follow their dreams. They just make different choices. If you choose to re-watch F.R.I.E.N.D.S. for the 58th time while balancing chips in one hand and popcorn in the other, our world will lose one of its heroes.

But if you do decide to put on that superhero cape, I’m with you. Kim, hang on. We’re coming for you.

Unorganized Archie Sonic ramblings

I’m perplexed by the existence of Ash the Mongoose. In a comic that already was filled to the brim, damn near BURSTING with characters, Karl Bollers decides that he needs to make ANOTHER character solely to formally close the Sonic/Mina/Sally love triangle......that he already closed 11 issues prior by having Mina herself admit that Sonic didn’t like her in that way....and then almost dying but I digress.  That’s all Ash was there for, to block Sonic from Mina. He had no other role outside of being “Mina’s boyfriend”, no personality outside of that, nothing. He was an average joe type, which is an interesting idea in a world like Sonic’s, but nothing much is really DONE with it.  He just...EXISTS, and it’s so weird too because he’s even like that in the fandom wherein Mina herself is shipped with all sorts of characters, from the semi-canon ones in Sonic and Tails to characters like Shadow, Honey, and even Nack, but NEVER Ash.  Most fics I’ve seen that even reference Ash tend to demonize him or make him look like a total dick a la Sally in Sonamy fics and Fiona in anti-Fiona fics.  It’s just weird man

Speaking of weird, has anyone ever brought up the fact that Sonic Forces kind of used the “Sonic disappears for a long period of time thanks to villains, things go to shit, then he comes back to fix it”  thing from the pre-reboot when Sonic disappeared into space because of the Xorda? And the fucked thing is that both of them bring up the fact that when Sonic was gone, Eggman took over 99.9% of the world (The exact same number in both). Honestly, I can’t tell which one was done “better” because both honestly really fucking sucked in execution.

Also can we talk about how Sonic just....fucked off to space for 5 or so issues? Because that happened. He almost died, got warped to the other side of the universe, almost lost his ship in a foot race, met E.V.E again, fought Fleetway Super Sonic, met these weird ant aliens, and just all sorts of shit.  And these issues could be argued to be more interesting that most of the shit that happened between #75 and #125 because a lot of THAT shit was just either meandering or stupid drama shit that went nowhere interesting (And also that Tails clone thing seriously WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT THAT CAME OUTTA FUCKING NOWHERE). And you could argue it was better than a lot of what came after because 134-159 is unarguably the WORST part of the comic’s history. With exception of RTAI and the one ghostwritten by Jon Gray, pretty much every single story in that era is absolute fucking GARBAGE with some of the worst ideas ever conceived of in the comics.

Remember fucking Kodos? I always thought he had a pretty okay design but was just boring as fucking sin and was only there to die in issue 100 and chase the Sword of Plot I mean Acorn (That was a dumb thing too what the fuck was that anyways?)

You know, I really wish one of these days Ian would just tell us what the fuck Maw’s deal was, because for all the fan content and shit he’s gotten, he realy has very little in the way of actual character and shit which is a shame , because he had a lot of potential that was sadly never capitalized on. Kind of like Cassia and Clove but they had more character to begin with and I REALLY WISH THEY GOT SOME CLOSURE GODDAMMIT

You know, I wonder how Bunnie felt that not only was she from the Sol Dimension, but that her parents died in battle like Antoine’s probably did (They never specified how they died I think), and definitetly against the thing her and Blaze fought.  I wonder where they were going to go with that and I’m pissed it was cut short because like the other arc of Bunnie’s that didn’t concern Antoine, it was REALLY GODDAMN INTERESTING AND NEVER GOT TO GO ANYWHERE.

Oh yeah, Uncle Beau was fucking cool as hell and a really unique idea. One of the FFs relatives being an Egg Boss/Grandmaster isn’t the most original concept, but having him actually be a decent person caught in a bad situation is a really interesting take on it, and gives Bunnie more of a reason to try and help him than “He’s family”, especially since it’s implied her and Beau were really close. More lost potential I suppose.

One last thing, isn’t it interesting how the only Chaotix in the pre-reboot to not really GET a backstory iirc was Vector? We don’t know who his parents are other than that he was “raised” in the same place Barby was (I think) and that he has SOME ties to Downunda that never got explained.  He just....IS and it’s so jarring to me in a comic where EVERYONE had their own families and societies and secret backstories and what have you that Vector was just....Vector.

Sonic/Equestria Girls Au Information and Lore

It's finally time to show you all something that I've had in my head for years and I promised myself that this year I would introduce it, AND TODAY IS THAT DAY. This crossover isn't like any other story where "sonic and his friends travel to the world of equestria girls because eggman messed up the timeline or mephiles miraculously came back and sent them there on a magic portal thingie for revenge" Nope, this is vastly different. Before I begin, I'd like to clarify that this takes place in a hybrid universe where the IDW/archie comics/games take place. I love the archie characters too much to NOT let them be a part of it. Basically, it's the IDW/game verse but with archie characters in them, along with a few events that happened and some cities that are in the old comics (i.e Knothole, Meropis etc.). Another note is that some of my ocs, and their species, are in this au as well! The species is called Novians.

Here's a list of the Archie characters: Sally Acorn and her family (Elias, Max etc.) Uncle Chuck (I'm a bit unsure if I want to add Sonic's parents since I'm still figuring things out) Scourge the hedgehog Fiona Fox The Freedom Fighters (Bunnie, Nicole, Antoine etc.) Mina Mongoose Shard the Metal Sonic Razor The Shark Coral the Betta Pearly the Manta Ray Honey the Cat Nack and his gang Hope Kintobor Rob O' the Hedge Some of the Echidna clan (which is honestly a huge maybe because I want Knuckles to have at least SOME of his people alive) Snively Robotnik (Also a huge maybe) ..and that's it so far! I'll update the list if I forgot a character. Some of the character's backstories are a mix of what Archie had and what the post-genesis wave had for them. For example, during the war with Eggman, King Max sent his wife Alicia and their son Elias to Angel Island to escape to safety when Sally was a baby. When they crash landed, and were presumed dead, Max groomed Sally to be the next heir for the Acorn kingdom until her father was banished in The Special Zone years later, he came back though. Alicia and Elias came back the same way they did in the Archie comics. Another thing to know is that some of my ocs, and their species, are in this au as well! The species is called Novians, they coexist with the equestrians. My OC's that exist in this au Isis Minorel Pacifica Catrine Jackson Somber and a few more that I haven't introduced yet! Jack and Isis are not energy vampires in this au but they still have their powers. NOW ONTO THE PLOT!! ~__________________________~ Basic Information: In this au, the Mane 7 are all sisters and Celestia is their mother, Isis is their adopted sister and Derpy is their first cousin, making her Luna's daughter. Celestia is queen of the equestrian humans, while Luna and Cadence are her royal advisors. Jack's father, Fredrick Somber is the monarch for all of the Novian species, he has a good friendship with Celestia. They reside in the kingdom of Equestria on Mobius, while the Seaquestrians live in the deep blue ocean not too far from where the kingdoms reside. They aren't from Mobius originally, they come from their own separate planet but it became uninhabitable. The equestrians are on peaceful terms with most of the species on the planet, especially the Mobians, and do whatever they can to help. Equestrian Human Species Info: Equestrian humans look the same in the original EG movie but the difference is that they have abilities based on their pony counterparts. Pegasi-based Equestrian humans can summon their wings at will, just like how Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy did in the first movie and so on. Magic-based (AKA unicorns) Equestrian humans can use their magical abilities to lift things or use them as a weapon for self defense, they DO NOT have horns. Earth-based Equestrian humans are just like regular humans but with a slight enhance of strength. Alicorn-based is just magic and pegasi mixed together. The Mane 7 and the Elements of Harmony: The Elements of Harmony were assigned to the 7 princesses at birth, much different to how the elements were assigned to their previous users. There are seven elements: Honesty Kindness Magic Laughter Loyalty Generosity Forgiveness There used to be six, but their late father had unleashed the element because of his forgiving nature and heart. Isis doesn't have an element but is still considered very powerful. ALL of the Mane 7's abilities in this au are the same powers they have in the fourth movie and mini series, the only difference is that they don’t transform unless they use their elements. They do have different transformation designs throughout the story, like how Sailor Moon does. I wanted Sunset's element to be forgiveness because she started out as an arrogant and cruel person when she was introduced. After her defeat, she had worked so hard to not only become a better person, but to also receive forgiveness from the people around her, including herself. Sunset is the literal reason why this au exists and I love her for that. An important fact about Sunset is that she has pyrokinetic powers in this au, which she inherited from her mother. It is dubbed, The Royal Flame. Pyrokinetic Abilities - Can control ANY kind of fire - Can breathe in fire - Can control her body temperature in cold weather - Her fire won't burn people she trusts, unless she commands it too - If she gets wet her powers won't work for a little while - When angry or frustrated, her body gets super hot - If she becomes emotionally unstable, she turns into her she-demon form, it happened once Mane 7 Ages and Birthdays (From oldest to youngest) (These birthdays are not canon to MLP, I made them up)

Zecora x Uncle Chuck?? and many more I have yet to introduce~ ~~~~~~~~~ History: Before they arrived on Mobius, the Equestrian humans weren't just one of Mobius' "inhabitants" and Equestria wasn't just a series of kingdoms. Oh no, it was once an entire planet bursting with life. The Equestrian race and the other inhabitants of the planet, Novians, coexisted together in peaceful tranquility. Throughout the years the two species would adapt and expand, turning villages into towns, towns to cities, cities to kingdoms. With the Novians vast knowledge of elements  and alternative fuel, and the Equestrians intelligent and superb skills in magic, it seemed that it would be perfect... but like all harmonious times, the destructive flames of war will soon come when unexpected and burn it all to the ground. There was another species among the Equestrians, Novians and Seaquestrians. They were the Centaurs. The Centaur race currently has a very rocky relationship with most of the other races from Equestria, the reason why is because of one single Centaur, Tirek. Many years ago, when he was just an organizer at a scroll store, Tirek had a huge dislike towards the Equestrian race, he hated them because the Centaurs didn't have much land nor much help at all. He thought they were selfish and greedy, hogging all the land for themselves and not leaving any for his people. He studied the arts of Dark Magic along with his brother Scorpan who also shared the same disdain for them as he did,  Once Tirek mastered it he had a battle to the death with the Centauran leader with him being the victor, after he disposed of him he took it upon himself to become the new leader of the Centaurs and wage war on the Equestrians and every other race that dared go against him. The Centaur War was the most brutal war ever, countless soldiers were killed, innocents were slaughtered, and kingdoms had fallen.Scorpan, now seeing the consequences of all of this tried reasoning with him. Feeling betrayed, Tirek murdered him out of anger and continued with his plans. For many, many years the Equestrians and Novians had fought long and hard but it seemed that they had reached a stalemate, they started to lose hope. It wasn''t until Galactus Centauri, a vigilante from the Crystal Empire had stepped in to help. Without knowing it, his kind heart and forgiving nature had revealed the lost element of harmony, Forgiveness. With the power of the 7th element, Galactus, Celestia and the other elements of Harmony had forced the Centaurs into submission. Most of them gave up and surrendered to the Equestrians, but not Tirek. Tirek, along with his minions and followers had disappeared. After they left for the time being, Galactus and Celestia married and had seven beautiful girls which would later on be eight when they adopt a 5 year old Novian orphan named Isis. Things seem to slowly get better for the Equestrians.....until Zecora had a horrifying vision. She had quickly told the king and queen that the planet was slowly dying and forming dangerous volcano's everywhere, the reason being all of the magic Tirek took during the war. She stated that in approximately 7 months the planet would become nothing more than a volcanic wasteland. With no time to lose they informed every citizen and species on Equestria that they will be evacuating the planet. Every spaceship was filled with Equestrians, Novians, the animals that were saved, and even some Centaurs. Galactus thought it would be okay, that they would finally be free from the war, and Tirek. Until he heard that his daughters Pinkie Pie and Sunset Shimmer were kidnapped by the centaur warlord. Galactus and a few soldiers went on a rescue mission to save them, unbeknownst to them that the volcano's were coming toward to where they were. In the end, Galactus, Sunset and Pinkie were the only ones who escaped Tirek. When they had reached their home castle the ships had already left because it turns out that planet's core was ready to burst early. After confronting, and defeating, Tirek once again in the castle, the three had reached to a magic teleportation chamber. There was another chamber on the ship that could teleport them back, but it required a lot of magic to do so. Galactus was heavily injured from his battle with Tirek, he didn't have time to heal because a volcano had formed under the castle and would burst any second. He had to act quick, he only had enough magic to teleport two people. So with every last bit of his magic and energy he teleported a heartbroken Sunset Shimmer and Pinkie Pie back on the ship, leaving him to die as soon as they were gone. Equestria had mourned for it's lost king and their lost home, but soon they would find a new home, with new allies and new foes as well. They would rebuild, adapt, expand and help those in need, just like they did all those years ago.... ANNNND THAT'S MY AU FOLKS!! I HOPE TO DRAW IT REAL SOON! I didn't go into full detail on the history part because I want to keep some things secret for now ;3 I really hope you love it as much as I do!! I poured my heart and soul into this au, it's one of the best creations I've ever made ;v; it felt so good to pour out all of this after keeping it to myself for so many years, especially the ships TwT Feel free to ask questions and tell me what you think! ^O^/
