About the Other/Cybertronian!TFP crew in Jack, Raf and MikoâŠ
What would their alt modes be like, do you think? Would they be more Autobot, Decepticon, or Predacon in nature? Also, what kind of shenanigans would each of them get into?
Personally, I do enjoy the thought that cyberized!humans would have a slant towards 'military' upgrades and beastial traits. Like a tribute to humanity's ties to the animal kingdom and their capacity for arms (tool usage lol). Think of it how a lot of civilian equipment, vehicles, fashion, and architecture, as well as groundbreaking discoveries, had a lot of roots from warfare or military applications.
Shoot, I'm thinking that Aligned verse cyber!humans could be considered throwbacks since the initial generations of early Cybertronians didn't have T-cogs!
I think it would be really fascinating to build on the Cybertronians' form of ableism (as seen with Bumblebee and Starscream with their stolen T-cogs) compared to a cyber!Agent Fowler -who was an Army Ranger-or a cyber!random human that lacks a weapon system and/or conventional armature. Plus, the massive culture clash between American views on social mobility versus Golden Age Functionist-held caste system.
(So much shenanigans there.)
Generally, my thoughts for their Cybertronian forms are consistent across the various Other aus with some tweaking on the plot and the world-building:
Jack has deep ties to blackbirds and corvids, so he's capable of flight. May have multi-forms as an ode to a fae heritage or something strange as a direct descendant to a Prime of Chaos upon a planet caging the Unmaker. Dark frame with a pale face. His (and his mother's) optics would be a grey-blue hue.
Miko is a War-Forged Seeker femme. A lot of is due my headcanons on Seekers (and their kin) and her yĆkai roots. War-Forged is what I'm specifically calling Elita One's frame-kith. Cybertronians used to bleed pink, so the bright pink armor is callback their Primal Age and their ancient roots. War-Forged are mecha with extreme combat-related programs that modern science as yet to come close to surpassing them.
As for Raf, he's a dragon. Not quite a Predacon, but it's definitely aligned. Or, weirdly enough, a satellite. I think it would be funny if he's similar to Soundwave in some ways there. The Autobots would need to deal with his data-cables. A dragon shape as it's a call his family's roots to being adventurers to Elsewhere, his dad being a dragon himself, and the old warning: "Here be dragons."

The 20th century without doubt was the century of globalization: especially after WWII and despite the geopolitical rivalry between the USA and the USSR, globalization increasingly took flight. Beyond its obvious repercussions on people, trade or politics, globalization also profoundly affected architecture. The question as to how also occupied Tom Avermaete and Michelangelo Sabatino, scholars and historians in Zurich and Chicago, ever since their involvement with the Global Architectural History Teaching Collaborative (GAHTC). The results of their research has recently been published by nai010 publishers in a handy and highly readable volume: âThe Global Turn - Six Architectural Journeys of Architecture and the City, 1945-1989â focuses on the Cold War period to explore the manifold ways in which architecture was informed by and has contributed to globalization. Since the authors are based in Europe and the US they address the topic from their respective perspectives but with the somewhat open-ended journeys establish a globally applicable framework. The six journeys deal with the tools and scenarios of collaboration, the heightened circulation of goods, the increased mobility post WWII, the circulation of knowledge, the complex construction process and the migration of construction labor. The authors supplement each of the journeys with concrete and lucid examples, e.g. the United Nations Headquarters as an early example of a collaboration between international architects or the CIAM Summer School as an international forum for exchange. The increased circulation of goods on the other hand entailed the rise of whole new building types, e.g. shopping malls and distribution centers like the Lijnbaan in Rotterdam or the Neckermann distribution center in Frankfurt/Main. At the same time trade fairs mushroomed and exhibition architecture became a hot topic.
The previous examples give an impression of Avermaete and Sabatinoâs approach to tracing globalizationâs impact on the architectural field. The six journeys provide application-oriented input for students and researchers to apply in their praxis and make this little book a great companion for further research!

A-Café (Update #25) - Community Discussion
Good morning everyone! I know it's been a while since I've posted, but I'm finally back with another community update. In the first part, I'll be giving a brief overview of where we're at in terms of project progress. Then, in the second half, we'll discuss a new development in app accessibility.
Without further ado, let's begin!
1) Where are we at in the project currently?
A similar question was asked in the A-Café discord recently, so I figured I'd include my response here as well:
Right now weâre reworking the design of A-CafĂ©, both visually and architecturally. The initial planning and design phase of the project wasnât done very thoroughly due to my inexperience, so now that Iâm jumping back into things I want to ensure we have a solid prototype for usability testing. For us that means weâve recently done/are doing a few things:
analyzing results from the old 2022 user survey (done)
discussing new ideas for features A-Café users might want, based on the 2022 user survey
reevaluating old ideas from the previous app design
making a new mock-up for usability testing
Once the mock-up is finished, I plan on doing internal testing first before asking for volunteer testers publicly (the process for which will be detailed in an upcoming community update).
2) Will A-Café be available for iOS and Android devices?
Yes! In fact, the first downloadable version of A-Café may no longer be so device-specific.
What do I mean by that? Well, in the beginning, the plan for A-Café was to make two different versions of the same app (iOS and Android). I initially chose to do this because device-specific apps are made with that device's unique hardware/software in mind--thus, they have the potential to provide a fully optimized user experience.
However, I've since realized that focusing on device-specific development too soon may not be the right choice for our project.
Yes, top-notch app performance would be a big bonus. But by purely focusing on iOS and Android devices for the initial launch, we'd be limiting our audience testing to specific mobile-users only. Laptop and desktop users for example, would have to wait until a different version of the app was released (which is not ideal in terms of accessibility).
Therefore, I've recently decided to explore Progressive Web App development instead.
[What is a Progressive Web App?]
A Progressive Web App (or PWA) is "a type of web app that can operate both as a web page and mobile app on any device" (alokai.com)
Much like a regular mobile app, a PWA can be found through the internet and added to your phone's home screen as a clickable icon. They can also have the ability to work offline and use device-specific features such as push-notifications.
Additionally, due to being web-based applications, PWAs can be accessed by nearly any device with a web browser. That means regardless of whether you have an iOS or Android device, you'd be able to access the same app from the same codebase.
In the end, a PWA version of A-Café should look and act similarly to an iOS/Android app, while also being accessible to various devices. And, due to having only one codebase, development of PWAs tends to be faster and be more cost-effective than making different versions of the same app.
To be clear, I haven't abandoned the idea of device-specific development entirely. We could launch iOS/Android versions of A-Café in the future if demand or revenue end up being high enough. But as of right now, I don't believe doing so is wise.
[What Does this Mean for me as a User?]
In terms of app installation and user experience, not much should hopefully change. I'd like to have A-Café available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
There will also be the option of searching for A-Café via your device's web browser, and then installing it on your home screen (iOS devices can only do so using Safari). We will likely rely on this method until we can comfortably ensure user access to A-Café on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Society needs to do a few things to help unhoused people. Firstly, and obviously, those who want to be housed in houses and apartments should be able to get them. Cities should create and enforce rent reduction policies on landlords who let apartments and homes sit vacant - and if they sit vacant too long, the city takes control of the property. Most Airbnbs have to go. Apartments and homes that are foreclosed or owned by banks need to be given to the city to be used for low income or free housing. House selling agencies like Zillow etc who have unsold properties just sitting around should be forced to lower the prices of those homes until someone buys them, and if they are still vacant after a certain amount of time, they too go to the city to manage. You wanna get angry? Google the number of foreclosed homes in your town or city, then Google the estimated homeless population in your area.
But.
I also think society needs to get easier for people who don't have and don't want a permanent house or apartment?? Cities and towns need to ease restrictions on "tiny homes", trailers, campers, mobile homes, live-in-vans, and things like that. They need to provide safe, dry areas for people who want to camp. They need to provide clean places to bathe and shower and clean your clothes. They need to provide water and electricity and plumbing to these places. Because of how job applications work right now, those camps need to have a real address that the people living there can use.
Oh yeah - and of course, hostile architecture needs to be banned WHILE mandating that public spaces must have a minimum mandatory amount of seating.

Milo's intro
Alright friends! This is probably scene #2 of the first draft, taking place right after Octavius's intro.

Milo doesnât belong here.Â
Sinclair Tower is a steel and marble high-rise where gods of industry shake hands on multimillion pound foreign investments or sign contracts that control the flow of data on the internet. Or... something.Â
Miloâs not actually sure what any of these companies do. If you ask him, all their names just sound like gourmet corporate word salad - Crescendo Consulting, ATRIUM Insights, FocusFortune - and that only further convinces him that his presence is a ginormous mistake.Â
Heâd sent in his application on a whim, for godâs sake. A shoot-for-the-stars kind of thing. He didnât expect a call back. When the unfamiliar voice had identified itself as personal assistant to Octavius Sinclair, heâd nearly spit his drink.Â
That same voice rings out across the intimidating lounge of steel and light.
âMilo McKenzie?â
He jumps from his seat like itâs caught fire. âHi, yes, thatâs me.â
âJulian Keats. Please, follow me.â
He follows this well-groomed and neatly dressed human down a glass-walled corridor overlooking a dizzying array of unnecessarily complicated architecture. It feels crafted to disorient, although itâs probably just his anxiety. Julian ushers him into his clear box of an office that offers a full view of the bustling floor on three sides and the cityscape on the fourth. The din of businesspeople dies as the door shuts.Â
âRight,â Julian begins as Milo takes a seat across from him at his tidy desk. âCongratulations on having passed the screening process. Iâll give you a brief orientation, youâll sign some forms for our records, and then youâll be clear to meet with Mr. Sinclair.âÂ
âSounds like a plan,â he chirps, cringing at himself instantaneously. Heâs a nerd, an overeager loser, a timid nobody-
âThe basics,â Julian states over his rolling ticker-tape of admonitions. âThis shouldnât be anything new to you if you read the materials, but here goes. No electronics whatsoever go past the elevator, including and especially mobile phones. A typical session with Mr. Sinclair can last anywhere from one to four hours, unless interrupted by your safe word. Heâll use any combination of whips, handcuffs, ropes, paddles, clamps, spreader bars, dildos, plugs, vibrators and/or his personal business ties and belts. Anything outside that, heâll show you and get your color before he uses it. He may want to fuck you, he may not. He may or may not let you come.â
Milo is overheating like an overtaxed laptop at this procedural recitation of things he did, in fact, already know. He's not new to scene - in fact, he had to provide references to prove it - but heâs never sat down with a business person in the middle of a bustling office space to talk about butt plugs.Â
Moreover, they're talking about Octavius Sinclair. He's like, the hottest man alive. He's famous and rich and a philanthropist and an icon. And he may fuck Milo, or he may not; he may or may not let Milo come.
Fuck!
âYeah, thatâs,â he says, reminding himself no one walking by can actually hear them in here. âThatâs all great.â
âAnd I see... only hard limit is knives.â
âYeah, thatâs it. No knives.â
âWhat about blades in general? Razors, swords?â
Swords? âI... guess you can put blades in general there.â
Julian scratches out his original answer and jots the new one down in impeccable script.
"And, do remind me what it is you're to call him, and what you're not."
Finally, a chance to prove his preparedness! âSir," Milo answers confidently. "Nothing but sir. Not his name, master, or daddy."
"And your safe word is?"
"Red, or âsafe wordâ. Yellow means ease up or slow down. Green is good, and if I can't speak, I'll shake my head no and say uh uh uh."
Julian ticks boxes as he speaks. "That's great," he replies without a shred of enthusiasm. "I'm gonna need your signature here, here and here."
Just as he slides several forms across the desk, Miloâs phone buzzes in his pocket.Â
He ignores it, for now. Another minute or two wonât hurt.
âThis one states you donât have any allergies or significant medical conditions. This one says you havenât had any unprotected sex since your last negative STD screening. And this one, please make sure to read it all the way through. This is the confidentiality agreement, which Mr. Sinclair will sign as well. â
The phone buzzes again. Shit. âIâm so sorry,â he says, âI have to take a call.â
Julian Keats stares at him, clearly more used to being the interrupter than the interrupted. He manages to inject an impressive amount of displeasure in a simple businesslike Ah, of course before Miloâs off searching for an enclave with some semblance of privacy.
He finds it in one of the flagrantly incongruous beanbag chairs in a corner where the view gives him vertigo. He sits facing away from the city dials back.Â
âMilo.â His sisterâs voice, thick with terror. âIâm in trouble. I need help. I need you to come get me.â
He presses his fingertips against his eyelids. She sounds awful, and it hurts. âOkay, sweetie. Iâll be there soon, but in the mean time, can you tell me a couple things you can see right now?â
âIâm not crazy,â she whispers; frantic, like sheâs hiding from someone.Â
âI know youâre not. I know. I just want you to describe a couple things you can see for me. Please.â
He sits with her for a moment while she talks, shakily, of things in her hospital room. The patterns of the curtains, the phrases scrawled by nurses on the dry erase board. The worn plastic case of CDs sheâs had with her since she was admitted - Fiona Apple, Garbage, the Cranberries.
He doesnât say goodbye until she sounds a bit calmer, and heâs going to have to cancel his afternoon appointment to go her straightaway after this, but she should be fine until he gets there. The staff know her well enough by now to know when she's close to hurting herself, or somebody else.
He feels like crying, but even if it were a fine time for such a thing, his body wouldnât actually do it.
So he goes back in and finishes signing all the forms. Julianâs clipped confirmation goes a bit past his ears.Â
âAlright, all sorted," he states, and Milo can almost see him itching to move onto the multitude of more pressing matters Milo's sure he's got. "Your appointment is at 10 pm. Arrive at the club at least 15 minutes before that and present this to security. Theyâll scan the card and put you into the elevator to the penthouse. Once youâre there, just knock.â
âWait, sorry, 10 pm tonight?â
âYes, obviously. The confirmation file for todayâs appointment said as much. Is that going to be a problem for you?â
Oh, Jesus. âNo,â he hurries to confirm. âNo, not at all, that works for me, itâs just... wow, I didnât think itâd happen that fast.â
God, he thought heâd get a haircut, maybe lose a kilo, but he supposes not.Â
No, heâll be walking into that room on the fifty-bajillionth floor of this very tower exactly how he is now, and letting a hot, filthy rich titan of business do whatever the hell he wants to him, within his own predefined limits. The guy the press calls the king of London, either because of how much he owns or the way he carries himself. Actually, Miloâs quite certain itâs a combination of both. And thatâs...
Well, itâs bloody fucking fantastic is what it is. As heâs leaving the building, he looks around and, seeing no one paying much mind to him whatsoever, pumps his fist into the air in front of him. Just a little bit.
