'Nu, Pogodi!'
[PC] [RUSSIA] [MAGAZINE] [2002]
"Nu, Pogodi! (Ну, погоди!, "Well, Just You Wait!" in English) is a Soviet (and now Russian) children's cartoon created by Soyuzmultfilm. It originally ran for sixteen episodes between 1969 and 1986, with an average of one short released every year or two. Further shorts have since been produced sporadically, including occasional commercial or PSA tie-ins. In classic Road Runner vs. Coyote fashion, it follows the adventures of Volk, a chain-smoking, alcohol-swilling lowlife wolf, who constantly chases after the youthful, athletic and intellectual hare Zayets through an urban environment. Despite its resemblance to a certain cat and mouse cartoon, the creators swear up and down that they had never seen a single Tom and Jerry cartoon when the series was in production (they claimed that their biggest western influence was post-World War II Walt Disney films). Most notable was the show's eclectic soundtrack, which included everything from old Russian folk songs to jazz rock to techno, which the animation is often synchronized with down to a frame. The show's popularity also spawned several video games, notably a Game & Watch clone reverse-engineered from the Mickey Mouse game, redrawing the LCD sprites of Mickey and Minnie with Volk and Zayets respectively. All 21 of the shorts are available on YouTube in varying capacities, including on the official Soyuzmultfilm channel. Despite its minimal dialogue, the show has an English dub by Filmexport Studios. A trailer for a 3D animated reboot, under the subtitle Kanikuly (Каникулы meaning "Holiday") was released on November 11th, 2021 from Soyuzmultfilm's YouTube channel, premiering its first episode a month later on December 17th. It features updated designs, targeting a much younger demographic. The first season will consist of 26 episodes each 7 minutes in length. It is currently in its second season. A 2014 poll named it the single most popular cartoon in all of Russia, beating out other regional hits like Masha and the Bear and Prostokvashino by a wide margin." ~TV Tropes

What if we had episodes on the other four coven heads who were never properly introduced; Vitimir, Osran, Mason, and Hettie Cutburn? Plus some other storylines, dynamics, and ideas I'd have liked to see.
What follows is a canon-compliant set of four scripts, each comprising a hypothetical episode of its own. These are set between O Titan, Where Art Thou and Clouds on the Horizon. Luz, Eda, and King find themselves on an usual road trip in the final days before the Day of Unity, helping the CATTs' and other people's objectives along the way; It begins and ends in Latissa.
I didn't just want to write fanfics; I wanted to draft hypothetical 'lost episodes', I wanted to play with the idea of the show getting four specials to introduce the remaining four coven heads, and elaborate on other ideas that didn't get to be explored. So I wrote scripts, and I designed them to feel as much like TOH episodes as possible.
I realized there are 'rules' to TOH episodes; If there are separate A and B-plots, they must be connected in some way. They usually stem from a common premise, diverging and eventually converging; Sometimes in the next episode, as seen into late Season 2B! These episodes want to convey ideas, themes, lessons, etc. And perhaps most importantly, Luz is the main character; She has to have some sort of presence and involvement. Labyrinth Runners stands out as the exception, and so I tried to maintain it as the one and only exception.
The original plan was to write out these scripts, and then keep cutting them down until I fit within the 22-minute format; Because these definitely go past that length, especially if you want these Lost Hoots to have a breathable pace. But I decided to just show all my ideas as is, because it's not as if these scripts will ever become actual episodes.
Perhaps in the future I'll do TV-length versions of these, but my point is: I already had a lot of respect and consideration for how difficult it must've been for the writers to fit in as much as possible, while operating by their standard rules, and still having the episodes themselves be good and not at a breakneck pace where it's more quantity than quality; That respect has grown even more. I haven't even taken into account when the cut to the commercial break happens!
Not only are these Lost Hoots meant to fit into canon, but they even have titles and codes meant to fit into Season 2's hidden message! These are by no means hidden, but it's a fun treat to consider; What if I made these episodes in such a way that if they were produced, a new viewer wouldn't be able to tell the difference unless a veteran explained it to them? I wanted these episodes to feel seamless; They cap off prior ideas, while leading into future, canon events, who in turn feel like the payoff to the setup within these hypothetical Lost Hoots.
With all that in mind, I thank anyone who clicks on this, and I hope you enjoy!

Thomas was running late. First day of a new job, and he should have been on his way ten minutes ago, especially with the road conditions as they were.
He really didn't have time to be standing in the apartment carpark watching one of his new neighbours walking to his car hand-in-hand with a toddler; no matter how tall and attractive the neighbour or how cute the fluffy tutu and pink puffer jacket combination on the toddler.

nothing but surrender- reference post
Information and references from my Hannibal/Will forcemasc fic, nothing but surrender. mostly for my own collection
Our couple
Hannibal
Will
non-passing
(post-haircut and more t)
My visual references for Will and Hannibal's opera suits, respectively
Cultural/intellectual references
A little Wittgenstein
The Wile E. Coyote/Road Runner in psychoanalysis lecture is based on one I caught by this scholar
The Dracula erasure mentioned at Mix
Der Zauberberg, or The Magic Mountain, is a 1924 modernist masterpiece by Thomas Mann (best known by the gays for writing Death in Venice). I stole a bunch of Will's little speech about his mother from it
A big influence on my Hannibal perspective is In A Lonely Place by Dorothy B. Hughes, a noir about toxic masculinity from the POV of the killer
The prostate orgasm porn channel that Hannibal makes Will watch lmaooo
Will mentions checking out the MoMA PS1 Art Book Fair (archive) and Hannibal talks about a signing of Original Plumbing
Hannibal and Will's debate in Ch 7 is mostly informed by Feminism Against Cisness and the essay Hannibal cites, Is the Rectum a Grave?
The short ribs recipe that Hannibal makes in Ch 8 is from Start Here by Sohla El-Waylly (couldn't find it online but it's excellent, use a lot of anchovy and whatever meat you want (; )
This is not a book or anything, but some of Will's dialogue in Ch 8 was inspired by this post I saw on that t4t app by a user named onthehill: “I want to be with him. I want to be him. I want him to hold me. I want to have a body like his. I want him to love me. I think I could be loved if I was him. I want, want, want.”
Steve Reich's "Come Out" and the story
Hannibal's Cape house, in my mind (might be a bonus chapter at some point)
Shea Stadium was a diy venue in Bushwick
Will references Met performances of Aida, which famously include horses as well as a section titled "the Dance of the Moorish Slaves". He would, indeed, hate it.
David Bowie's Peter and the Wolf
Ch 11 opera references: Victoria de los Angeles's Mélisande , and the 2012 version of Pelléas et Mélisande that I watched as inspiration.
Huberd's Shoe Grease (favorite among bootblacks) and a podcast I listened to about bootblacking
the Marc Chagall murals at the Met
Symbolism (in poetry)
The Rite of Spring
I'm not telling you what the sex party is that the boys go to because I haven't gone in a long time and I've exaggerated its friendliness but let's just say it's named after this movie
Much of Will and Hannibal's conversation about stoneness in Ch 14 comes from the gorgeous lesbian history book Boots of Leather, Slippers of Gold

Cyberchase Character Discussion (for your local Cyberchase trivia quiz) - #3: Jackie
Here we go again. I've made this style of post about Inez and Matt, and now it's Jackie's turn.
#3: Jackie
Let's start with her bio from "Meet the Cybersquad". Again, this almost 25 years old now, so who knows how much of it is still canon.
So, we get our introduction to Jackie. She's smart, funny, has a plan, and is over-the-top. Yeah, that's accurate so far.
For some reason, this page was not in her original bio when they released it in 2001. They went back and added this page later in 2002. This is the only bio that I have seen that had content added like this. This page lets us know that her favorite color is yellow, and she loves tofu burgers. I don't know if the show has confirmed that she is a vegetarian or vegan. She is shown to care about animals, so I wouldn't be surprised if she was canonically a vegetarian.
Her favorite book is one that I hadn't heard about until now: "Walk Two Moons" by Sharon Creech. In this story, the 13 year old protagonist, Salamanca (Sal) Hiddle, goes on a cross-country road-trip to visit her mother. There are themes of coming to term with loss and building new relationships. It makes me wonder if, at some point in development, the show-runners might have been interested in giving Jackie a tragic loss similar loss to Sal. I haven't seen the later seasons where they bring in the kid's families, but I don't believe they have gone that route so far.
For her favorite music, we get two bands: Destiny's Child and NSYNC. These are very much a product of the time. Destiny's Child actually disbanded in 2006, as the members went off to do solo work. NSYNC disbanded in 2002, and then reunited in 2023. Well, we know that Jackie loves her R&B and Pop music, so I'm sure she found other bands to follow since then.
Her favorite movie is Shrek, which only came out in 2001. Matt and Inez have definitely sent her all the memes that have come out about that movie since then. Her pet peeves are bugs and anything messy. Yeah, that still tracks. She has a "Wheaton Terrier" named Brandy. I don't know if the spelling has changed over the years, or if they just made a spelling mistake in her bio, but I have only seen it spelled as "Wheaten".
Jackie also gets a bio from Nelvana, which is pretty cool. I've only been able to find surviving archives of bios for her and Matt. They have sections for Inez, Dr. Marbles, Motherboard, The Hacker, Buzz, and Delete. However, all of those are left empty in the surviving archives of the pages. I don't know if bios were completed for those other characters.
We get emphasis on the point of Jackie being organized. We also get more insight into how she solves problems. She uses diagrams, charts, and graphs among other things. She also touched on her tendency to use initials as shorthand for things. I remember the Blue Bunny Place (B.B.P) from "Of All The Luck". Was she hip in 2002? Is she still hip now? I'm not qualified to say.
We also get an introduction to Jackie through the official prequel web comic, "How It All Started: Episode 3". We see Jackie making her own skirt out of strips of fabric. I assume it is for cheer-leading.
Narration: Meanwhile, on Earth, three kids who don't know each other are about to have the adventure of their lives.
Jackie: I gotta organize this stuff
Narration: meet Jackie, who has her own sense of style...
Narration: And her own way of doing things!
Here's Jackie's Official Cyberchase Trading Card.
When they picked her favorite line as "Make room! I gotta pace!", they probably picked her most iconic line. She loves video games, piano, and foreign languages, which is great. We do get to see her play an unnamed videogame during Season 1 Episode 25 "A Battle of Equals". The hero "San Man" is trying to save the environment by stopping the villains that are trying to pollute it. One villain is called Johnny Grime. There are number riddles, and they are the same sort of riddles that the kids solve during the episode.
I don't think we ever see her playing piano or speaking a second language on the show. Quick question: What are those shoes that she wears? Inez has a pair or blue boots. Matt has a pair of red and white sneakers. Jackie's shoes are a little harder to place. They are purple, and they have considerable heels. Were these meant to be high-tops? I don't know that I've seen high-tops with heels in that size before.
The big thing that people remember Jackie for are her dramatic outbursts. And her most iconic one is probably from Season 3 Episode 4 "A Piece of the Action". You can tell that someone in the animation department had fun with this one.
Here's a transcript.
Jackie: Great! Now we'll never get into Hacker's control center. And if we can't get in there we can't stop Hacker. And if we can't stop Hacker, he'll erase Motherboard's memory with the magnetite! Cyberspace is doomed! Doomed I tell you! Doo-hoo-hoo-hoomed!
Matt: And the award for best dramatic outburst of today goes to Jackie!
Jackie: Matt!
What else can I say about Jackie. Well, she has an amazing tolerance for cold weather. Even in Arctic Cybersites, she still made do with the same short skirt.
Anyway, here's the prototype for Jackie. She had a completely different hairstyle and outfit. She was also called Julie. Again, I consider her current design an upgrade from the prototype.
And here's the Who's Who document on her.
We get more discussion on Jackie being a gymnast and artist. She loves Instant Messaging. I guess that would have been AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) at the time.

Plymouth GTX Concept (1 of 1)
This is the only 1972 Plymouth GTX you’re ever likely to see because it’s the only one that was made. And it wasn’t made by Plymouth, it was made by Gary and Pam Beineke using formerly top secret images from the Chrysler archives. The Plymouth GTX is a muscle car that was produced by the Plymouth division of Chrysler Corporation from 1967 to 1971. It was introduced as a high-performance version of the popular Plymouth Belvedere and was marketed as a “gentleman’s muscle car” with good performance, but with a more luxurious interior and smoother ride than some of its more hard-edged counterparts. When it was introduced the GTX was available in two-door hardtop and convertible body styles and was powered by a 440 cubic inch V8 engine that produced 375 horsepower. It also featured heavy-duty suspension, power brakes, and a floor-mounted four-speed manual transmission as standard equipment. In 1968, the GTX received a facelift and a new optional engine – the legendary 426 cubic inch Hemi V8 that produced 425 horsepower. The Hemi was claimed to be the most powerful engine available in any American production car at the time, and it gave the GTX serious street cred among muscle car enthusiasts.Over the next few years, the GTX continued to evolve with various engine and styling updates. In 1969, the car received a new front-end design and a new optional engine – the 440 Six Pack, which featured three two-barrel carburetors and produced 390 horsepower. In 1970, the GTX received a completely new body style and a revised engine lineup that included the 440 Six Pack and the 426 Hemi, which was now rated at 425 horsepower.
Sadly by the early-1970s it became clear that the muscle car era was coming to an end, and by 1971, rising insurance rates and tightening emissions regulations had taken their toll on the high-performance car market in the United States.
For 1972 the GTX name was relegated to what was essentially only an option package, called the Road Runner GTX. Any Road Runner that was ordered with the 440 V8 received Road Runner GTX badging, and this continued until the model was phased out in 1974, in the dark shadows of the 1973 Oil Crisis.
There were rumors of a potential comeback for the GTX in the late 1990s however a production car never materialized.
The car you see here is the only one of its kind in the world, it’s a 1972 Plymouth GTX but as mentioned further up, it wasn’t actually built by the Chrysler Corporation. Each year the husband and wife team of Gary and Pam Beineke build one car. And not just any car, but a car that previously existed only in the Chrysler archives. They find original drawings and images of planned models that never made it into production, and then they painstakingly build the car themselves. Interestingly this work isn’t their full time job. Gary is an attorney and a registered contractor, and Pam is a registered nurse who works in the operating room. They call the series of cars that they have built “What If’s” – and they do it all on nights and weekends while holding down full time jobs.
The couple first came across the planned 1972 Plymouth GTX when looking over the uncovered archive items discovered by Steve Juliano. This car was designed by John Herlitz and it was far from just a stying exercise, multiple full scale models were made and it did seem for a time as though it would be the successor to the 1971 Plymouth GTX.
Sadly it was not to be. The perfect storm of increasing emissions restrictions and crash safety regulation combined with soaring insurance premiums on muscle cars resulted in demand dropping significantly by the early 1970s.By the time of the 1973 Oil Crisis, with its sky high gasoline prices, automakers were already focusing on smaller and more fuel efficient vehicles. The GTX name did live on for a short time, as part of the aforementioned Road Runner GTX package on 440 V8 equipped cars, but it was killed off as a free standing model after 1971.
Gary and Pam Beineke took it upon themselves to right this wrong. They sourced a 1971 Road Runner and set to work creating the car that Herlitz had designed all those years ago in the late 1960s. They poured over the images of the long destroyed models, and they were able to discuss their work with Herlitz her offered them guidance on what the production ’72 GTX would have looked like.

What is Friends at the Table?
Game Mastered by Austin Walker (he/him), black American Marxist, writer, and former academic and vampire, Friends at the Table is an actual play podcast about critical worldbuilding, smart characterization, and fun interaction between good friends.
The show features original music, a largely marginalized cast, and . They don't take sponsorships and so are free to explore the stories they wish, supported only by patrons at friendsatthetable.cash.
Every episode has transcripts (compensated work, not free fan labour.)
Were to start?
If you like sci-fi; start with COUNTER/Weight or PARTIZAN.
If you like fantasy; start with Marielda or Autumn in Hieron (the audio quality is bad until episode 5, I recommend coming back after you're invested in the show. There are recap episodes for Autumn in Hieron here and here).
If you like dark or southern gothic fantasy or horror; start with Sangfielle, a stand-alone season.
If you like... movies; Season 1 of the Patreon-only series Bluff City was released publically, but is confusing to access, you can find it reuploaded here.
If you like chill video game streams; they stream on Twitch with archives on YouTube, and another cast member is part of the historic YouTube channel; RunButton.
I, the blog runner, suggest starting with PARTIZAN and returning to COUNTER/Weight then Twilight Mirage, PARTIZAN is a very strong season and I feel its an excellent entry to the show and cast, even if you aren't big on sci-fi.
What's the order of the seasons?
Divine Cycle: COUNTER/Weight -> Twilight Mirage -> The Road to PARTIZAN -> PARTIZAN -> The Road to PALISADE -> PALISADE
Seasons of Hieron: Autumn in Hieron -> Marielda -> Winter in Hieron -> Spring in Hieron
🇵🇸 Free Palestine! This blog is ran by a fan!
