For the ancient Celts, the willow was a magical and mystical tree, as well as a feminine tree subject to the lunar rule, and was also thought to work subconsciously. The Celts believed that being near willow trees increased their spiritual powers and intuition, and as a result, the dreams they had were more realistic and detailed.

The wands used by the druids to ward off evil were made from the branches of the goat willow. The silvery hairs of the catkins hanging from this young male willow may have appeared to the ancients as if they were seeing magic as they were pollinated and transformed into a golden colour. The way the flowers spiralled open must have been astonishing. The source of art and creativity is still to be found in willow, and the thin, strong drawing charcoal used by artists is made from willow.

Willow has long been used in mourning rituals. Planting willow trees in cemeteries facilitated the passage of the souls of the dead, and the ancient Celts believed that the souls of the dead would enter and grow in young willow trees, and that the spirits would dwell in the trees intact.

The willow, which has a deep bond with water, tells you to cry with honesty if you are sad. If you are happy, you should rejoice from your heart. The willow teaches you that sometimes you need to leave reason and sense behind and weep to your heart's content.

古代ケルト人にとってヤナギは魔法や神秘の木であるとともに、月の支配を受ける女性の木でもあり、また、意識下に働きかけるとも考えられていた。ヤナギのそばにいると霊力や直感が高まり、その結果、見る夢はよりリアルに、詳細なものになるとケルト人は信じていた。男女を問わず、詩人や、音楽家や、司祭たちがヤナギの林にこもって瞑想をすれば、霊感が高まり、雑念から開放されると考えていた。こうしてケルト人は、聖なる林にこもって内なる世界に向き合い、木の頂から霊感を得ていた。

ドルイドたちが、魔除けに使っていた杖は、ヤマネコヤナギ (ﾊﾞｯｺﾔﾅｷﾞ) の枝からつくられた。この若い雄木に垂れ下がった尾状花序の銀色にひかる和毛が、受粉して黄金色に変身していく様は、古代人には魔法を見ているように見えたのかもしれない。螺旋模様を描きながら花が開いていく様子にも、驚かされたことだろう。ヤナギに芸術や創造性の源を見て取ることは今も変わらず、芸術家が使う細くて丈夫なデッサン用の炭はヤナギからつくられている。

ヤナギは昔から弔いの儀式にもよく使われる。墓地にヤナギを植えると死者の魂が通りやすくなると言い、古代ケルト人は、死者の魂は若いヤナギの木に入り、育っていくと信じ、霊がそのまま木に宿ると信じていた。

水と深い絆で結ばれているヤナギは、悲しいことがあれば素直に泣きなさい、嬉しいことがあれば、心から喜びなさいという。時には理性も分別もを捨てて、心ゆくまで泣くことも必要だと、ヤナギは教えてくれる。

The title "CA SANAR" has a both the Japanese meaning of "overlapping" and the Italian meaning of "healing".Hope you take a look at the fantastic and surreal works by 14 artists who have been pursuing analogue multiple exposures with film cameras in today's digital-dominated society. 第2回フィルム多重露光グループ展「CA SANAR2」⚡️

デジタルが主流の現代において、デジタル合成などの後処理を一切加えないフィルムカメラによる「多重露光」をテーマとしたグループ写真展に参加します。

主催の穂高さんの多重露光写真をロモグラフィーのサイトで発見して以来、その魅力的で摩訶不思議な世界に首っ丈になり、そしてそしていったい穂高さんはどうやって？？撮ってるんだろ？！っと。

今回、僕はフィルムカメラでサーファーを撮っていくうちに偶然にも（必然？！）勝手にコマが重なって多重になってしまった写真をきっかけに、あれ！まっ！これいい感じ〜っと、またこんなの撮りたい！っと そこから自分なりの方法で色々試しながら出来上がった（できてしまった）サーフ多重露光写真で参加します。

デジタルカメラでの多重露光なら、ファインダーや液晶画面で確かめながら、最終的なイメージも見えてくるのですが、フィルムカメラだと、僕の場合、現像ができあがるまで、一体どんな仕上がりになるのか全くわからないので、、予測もつかなコトを期待する！楽しさ、そんなフィルム多重露光写真に最高にハマっています。

【企画公募展】ぎゃらりぃ あと　夜花に踊る

この度、ぎゃらりぃ あと様にて2024/5/8(水)〜2024/5/12(日)の期間で行われるぎゃらりぃ あと様主催の企画公募展「夜花に踊る」に参加させていただきます！

「花」をテーマとした企画展で、メイン作品は作家さんが選んだ花1種をモチーフにした作品が並ぶ作品展になります。 なお、こちらの企画公募展、開催時間が夜16:00~21:00になってます！ご注意を！

今回は5月くらいに開花時期を迎えるお花を描きました。花の表現方法も全作品変えてるのでお楽しみに～

Group exhibition "Dancing in the Night Flowers"

I'm pleased to announce our participation in the group exhibition!

I'm pleased to announce that I'll participate in the group exhibition "Yoruhana ni Odoru (Dancing in the Night Flowers)" at Gallery Ato from 2024/5/8(Wed) to 2024/5/12(Sun)!

The main theme of the exhibition is "Flowers", and the main works will be based on the motif of a flower chosen by the artist. Please note that the exhibition will be held from 16:00 to 21: 00 in the evening! Please note that the exhibition will be held from 16:00 to 21:00 at night!

This time, I painted flowers that bloom in May. I have also changed the way to express flowers in all the works, so please look forward to it!

「わかった。では、屋上で」 “All right. Let’s go to the roof.”

根を携え、カイが広間から出ていった。 Kai left the hall, carrying his staff in hand.

ティルは椙を握り、その後を追った。 Gripping his own staff tightly, Tir followed him.

それからというもの、ティルはカイを相手に棒術の稽古に打ち込んだ。 From that moment on, Tir devoted himself to studying bōjutsu under Kai’s tutelage.

身体中があざだらけになり、手の皮もすりむけた。 His body was bruised all over, his hands blistered.

新たにティルはいくつかの奥義をカイから授かったが、それよりも今は、くたくたになって泥のように眠れればよかった。 Tir did learn a number of secret techniques anew from Kai, but he was simply glad to be so bone-weary exhausted that he collapsed into bed and slept like the dead.

ティルがそうして過ごしている間に、一人トラン湖を船で渡り、パーンが居城に帰ってきた。 While Tir spent his days training, Pahn crossed Toran Lake alone and made his way back to the castle.

皆に喜んで迎えられた。 His arrival was met with cheers.

ハーンは傷だらけだった。 Pahn was covered in cuts and wounds.

クレオに包帯でぐるぐる巻きにされ、ベッドに横たわったパーンは、テオとの一騎打ちを振り返って大きくため息をついた。 Cleo wrapped him in bandages. Laying in bed, Pahn sighed as he recounted his one-on-one battle with Teo.

「あの戦い、到底俺が勝ったとは思えません。もしかしたらテオ様は、俺のことを見逃してくれたのかも……」 “Didn’t think there was any way I was comin’ out of that fight alive. Lord Teo must have let me get away…”

父ならそうするだろうと、ティルは思った。 But Tir wasn’t so certain.

テオは全力でぶつかってこいと、ティルに言っているのだ。 After all, Teo had told Tir he would strike them with his full strength.

またそれから三日後、湖賊を訪ねたヤム・クーが一人の男を連れて城に戻ってきた。 Three days after Pahn came back, Yam Koo returned from his visit to the pirates with a guest in tow.

額に青の鉢巻を巻き、青い長羽織を着たその男は、湖賊の頭領アンジーと名乗った。 It was Anji, the leader of the lake pirates. He sported a blue headband and wore a long, azure haori coat.

もとはトラン湖の船商人だったが、帝国の横暴に耐えかね、仲間を集めて湖賊をはじめたという。 He said he had originally been a Lake Toran merchant but, unable to stand the violence of the Empire, had gathered together like-minded comrades. This was how the lake pirates started.

「いけすかねえ帝国のヤツらにひと泡吹かせてやりましょうぜ」 “Let’s blow those dirty Imperial bastards outta the water!”

P203 アンジーはそう言って解放軍への力を約束し、二千の兵を提供してくれた。 declared Anji, pledging two thousand of his men to the Liberation Army’s cause.

そして自分は、部下の怪力男カナック、鎖鎌の使い手レオナルドと共にソニアの砦を攻めると言って湖賊の砦へと戻っていった。 Before returning to the pirate stronghold, he explained how he would attack Sonya’s fortress alongside his crew; Kanak, a fearsomely strong man, and Leonardo, who wielded a sickle and chain.

そして二十日が経過し、フリックたちが戻ってきた。 After twenty days, Flik and the others returned.

彼らは六百本の火炎槍を、秘密工場の主モース、そのお手伝いの女格闘家ロニー・ベルと共に、無事に居城まで運んできた。 Together with Mose, the head of the secret factory, and his assistant Ronnie Bell, who was a female martial artist, they came bearing six hundred fire spears and safely transported them to the castle.

ティルの根を一回り太くしたような長い銀の柄。 The spears were long and silver, one size larger than Tir’s staff.

その尻には紋章片が入っているのか、小さな球体が取り付けられている。 There was a small globe on one end, apparently embedded with a rune fragment.

柄の中程には仕掛けを作動させるスイッチがついていて、先端には炎を吹き出す小さな口が開いていた。 The shaft of the spear contained a switch. When flipped, flames would spew out of a small opening in the tip of the spear.

フリックが言うには、火炎槍はずっと使えるわけでなく、紋章片の力が尽きたところで効力を失うということだった。 According to Flik, this ability was limited. Once the rune fragment’s power was used up, the spears would no longer be able to shoot flames.

彼らは火炎槍を運んだだけでなく、北方から新たな有志で連れてきた。 In addition to the fire spears, they also brought new volunteers with them from the north.

キーロフの街からは洗濯上手のセイラ、カードゲームが得意な遊び人のジョルジュ、料理人のレスター、音楽好きの少女メロディ、タイ・ホーの顔見知りの船商人のクン・トーが参戦した。 These new recruits included Sarah, an expert laundress from the town of Kirov. Georges, whose skill lay in card games. Lester the chef. Melodye, a young woman who loved music, as well as Kun To, an acquaintance of Tai Ho and fellow sailor.

荒廃したカレッカの町からはマッシュの叔父に当たる軍師レオン・シルバーバーグ、農夫のブラックマンが参加し、秘密工場のモース、ロニー・ベルもそのまま合流した。 From the ruins of Kalekka came the renowned tactician Leon Silverberg, who also happened to be Mathiu’s uncle, and Blackman, a farmer. They were joined by Mose and Ronnie Bell from the secret factory.

山賊のケスラーとルドン、そして忍びのカゲという男も、秘密工場で仲間になった。 At the factory, they also befriended the bandits Kessler and Ledon as well as the ninja Kage.

しかもキーロフの街の船商人クン・トーは、腕に覚えのある船乗り二千を解放軍に合流させた。 Moreover, the sailor Kun To of Kirov brought with him two thousand men and women skilled with ships and added their numbers to the Liberation Army’s ranks.

Hodges 「If I must die」

1. パレスチナに関心を持ったきっかけ、そしてどうあなたは変わったか

ここ数年、入管問題についての活動に参加していたので、パレスチナについて知る機会はいくらでもあったはずなんです。なのに知ろうとしなかった。本当に遅すぎだし、まだ浅いかもしれないけど、ようやく知るに至りました。そしてパレスチナを通してアメリカや日本や世界の偽善を今さら思い知りました。

I have been participating in activities about immigration issues for the past few years, so I should have had plenty of opportunities to learn about Palestine. And yet I didn't try to know. It is really too late, and maybe I am still shallow, but I finally came to know. And through Palestine, I now realize the hypocrisy of America, Japan, and the world.

2. 「If I must die」の説明、制作エピソード

※2023年12月にイスラエル軍の空爆により殺されたパレスチナの詩人、大学教授、リファアト・アル＝アリイールさんの詩「If I must die」に曲を付けて歌う動きが世界中であります。Hodgesさんのこの作品もそのひとつ。

ウクライナ侵略が始まったとき、信じていた世界が崩壊してしまって音楽が作れなくなりました。作ってきた自分の作品もゴミ同然に思えました。何を歌えばいいのかゼロから考える必要がありました。ようやく一歩踏み出したところでガザの大虐殺が始まりました。ずっと好きだったアーティストの曲すらもはや嘘臭くてゴミ同然で、聴きたいと思える歌も歌おうと思える歌もなくなってしまいました。ならばこれからみんなで作っていけばいいんじゃないか、そのための私なりの第一歩がこのトラックです。

*There is a movement around the world to sing a song to the poem “If I must die” by Rifaat al-Aliyl, a Palestinian poet and university professor who was killed by an Israeli air strike in December 2023. Here is one of them.

When the invasion of Ukraine started, the world I believed in collapsed and I couldn't make music anymore. My own work, which I had been creating, seemed like garbage. I had to start from scratch to figure out what to sing. When I finally took the first step forward, the Gaza genocide began. Even the songs of the artists I had always loved were now so fake and trashy that there were no more songs I wanted to listen to or sing. So why don't I all make our my songs from now on, and this track is my first step toward that end.

3. 聞いてくれた人へのメッセージ

このトラックはバケツとタンバリンと声だけで構成されていて、普段耳にしている音楽からすれば常識外れかもしれません。でもその常識、必要ですか？　ガザの大虐殺を機に、それまで当たり前だったことを疑うことから私は始めようと思います。

This track consists only of a bucket, a tambourine, and a voice, which may seem out of the ordinary from the music we usually hear. But is that common sense necessary?　I would like to start by questioning what had been taken for granted in the wake of the Gaza genocide.

Ayami Suzuki works actively in Tokyo, through performances and recordings using her own voice. And this is a rare work in which the subjectivity and artificiality of her voice is suppressed. The sounds you hear here are not intentionally or consciously constructed, but have a unique texture that makes them seem as if they are just there, or approaching you from afar. Furthermore, there is a story-like element that runs through the four songs, and by listening to the album as a whole, you will be able to experience the stoic world of this work.

鈴木彩文は主に自身の声をもちいたパフォーマンスや録音作品の制作をつうじて、東京を拠点に精力的に活動している。本作は彼女の声の主体性や作為性が抑えられた珍しい作品となっている。 ここで聴くことのできる音は意図的、意識的に作り上げられていくような形となっておらず、��だそこにある、または遠くからこちらへ向かってくるかのような特異性をもっている。さらには、4曲でひと続きとなるストーリー的な要素が存在しており、とおして作品を聴くことによってそのストイックな世界を体感することができるだろう。

Ayami Suzuki (鈴木彩文)

Ayami Suzuki is a Tokyo-based musician, artist and improviser. Her practice revolves around creating ambient soundscapes that incorporate her folk influences in a synthesis of songwriting and improvisation. Since returning to Tokyo in 2019 after several years of studies in Ireland and the UK, she has become an active performer, collaborator and solo artist. The world of the Estonians’ ancestors - Proto-Estonian mythology

The world of the Estonians’ ancestors is believed to have turned around a pillar or a tree, to which the skies were nailed with the North Star. The Milky Way (Linnutee or Birds' Way in Estonian) was a branch of the World tree (Ilmapuu) or the way by which birds moved (and took the souls of the deceased to the other world). These myths were based on animistic beliefs.

Some traces of the oldest authentic myths may have survived in runic songs. There is a song about the birth of the world – a bird lays three eggs and starts to lay out the nestlings – one becomes Sun, one becomes Moon and one becomes the Earth. Other Finnic peoples also have myths according to which the world has emerged from an egg.

It has been suggested by ethnologist and former president Lennart Meri and among others, that a Kaali meteorite crater which passed dramatically over populated regions and landed on the island of Saaremaa around 3,000 - 4,000 years ago was a cataclysmic event that may have influenced the mythology of Estonia and neighboring countries, especially those from whose vantage point a "sun" seemed to set in the east.

There are surviving stories about Kaali crater in Finnish mythology (Description of indigenous paganism by Finns who always believed in spirit beliefs). 

In the Karelian-Finnish folk epic, the Kalevala, cantos (songs) 47, 48 and 49 can be interpreted as descriptions of the impact, the resulting tsunami and devastating forest fires. It has also been suggested that the Virumaa-born Oeselian god Tharapita is a reflection of the meteorite that entered the atmosphere somewhere near the suggested "birthplace" of the god and landed in Oesel.

Estonian mythology is a complex of myths belonging to Estonian folk heritage and literary mythology, and the systematic documentation of Estonian folklore had only began in the 19th century. 

Therefore, information on Proto-Estonian mythology before the conquest of the Northern Crusades, Christianisation and incorporation into the European world and during the medieval era, is only scattered in historical chronicles, travellers' accounts and in ecclesiastical registers.

It can be difficult to tell how much of Estonian mythology as we know it today was actually constructed in the 19th and early 20th century. Friedrich Robert Fehlmann, one of the compilers of the Estonian national epic, Kalevipoeg in the introduction to Esthnische Sagen (Estonian Legends), states.

"However, since Pietism has started to penetrate deep into the life of the people...singing folk songs and telling legends have become forbidden for the people; moreover, the last survivals of pagan deities are being destroyed and there is no chance for historical research."

エストニア人の祖先の世界 〜 原始エストニア神話

エストニア人の祖先の世界は、柱または木の周りを回っていたと信じられており、その柱には北極星とともに天空が釘付けにされていた。天の川（エストニア語ではリヌーテーまたは鳥の道）は世界樹（イルマプー）の枝であり、鳥が移動する（そして亡くなった人の魂をあの世に連れて行く）道であった。これらの神話はアニミズム的な信仰に基づいていた。

最古の本物の神話の痕跡が、ルーン文字の歌詞の中に残っているかもしれない。ある鳥が3つの卵を産み、雛を産み始める。ひとつは太陽になり、ひとつは月になり、ひとつは地球になる、という世界の誕生の歌がある。他にはフィン族にも、世界が卵から生まれたという神話がある。

3,000～4,000年前に人口密集地域の上空を劇的に通過し、サーレマー島に落下したカーリ隕石 (ｶｰﾘ･ｸﾚｰﾀｰ) は、エストニアや近隣諸国、特に「太陽」が東に沈むように見えた国々の神話に影響を与えた可能性がある、と民族学者で元大統領のレンナルト・メリらによって示唆されている。

フィンランド神話 (精霊信仰を常に信仰していたフィン族による原始宗教的な伝説) にカーリ隕石に関する物語が残っている。カレリア・フィンランドの民俗叙事詩『カレワラ』の第47、48、49カント (聖歌) は、その衝撃と、その結果生じた津波、壊滅的な森林火災についての記述であると解釈できる。また、ヴィルマア生まれのオイセルの神タラピタは、この神の「出生地」とされる場所の近くで大気圏に突入し、オイセルに落下した隕石の反映であるとも言われている。

エストニア神話は、エストニアの民間伝承と文学的神話に属する神話の複合体であり、エストニアの民間伝承の体系的な記録が始まったのは19世紀になってからである。そのため、北方十字軍の征服、キリスト教化、ヨーロッパ世界への併合以前、そして中世のエストニア神話の原型に関する情報は、歴史年代記、旅行者の記録、教会の記録に散見されるのみである。

今日私たちが知っているエストニア神話のどれだけが、19世紀から20世紀初頭にかけて実際に構築されたものなのかを見分けるのは難しい。エストニアの民族叙事詩『カレヴィポエグ』の編纂者の一人であるフリードリヒ・ロベルト・フェールマンは、『エストニア伝説』の序文で次のように述べている。

“しかし、敬虔主義が人々の生活に深く浸透し始めて以来......民謡を歌い、伝説を語ることは、人々にとって禁忌となった； さらに、異教の神々の最後の生き残りは破壊されつつあり、歴史研究のチャンスはない。"

オーストラリアの友人が行っていて知った『Babieclub 』というパーティーコレクティブ。日本のホステスクラブを改装して作られたというメルボルンのクラブ。ポップでキラキラした空間に装飾され、そこにはそれぞれ思い思いの好きな格好で踊る人々。

アニメのコスプレ、ロリータ、フェアリー、ギャル、着ぐるみ、、日本のサブカルチャーの影響を感じるものからパンクやゴスファッションなど様々。

と書かれ、毎回テーマや世界観などが設定されている。日常から離れ非現実的な空間で自分を解放する場を作っているパーティー。「安全な空間であること」「誰でも受け入れる」ということが前提として挙げておりステートメントがアーティストや観客の中で共有されている。

初めて行ったパーティーでも疎外感を感じず音楽を楽しめた経験もあれば、音楽を楽しみに遊びに行ったはずがアウェイな雰囲気と誰かの不快な言動に嫌な思いをして帰った経験もある。ただでさえ生きにくい世の中で必死に生きているのに、好きな音楽を共有しているときくらい好きなように邪魔されず楽しみたい、好きなものへの愛に溢れて優しい空間であってほしい。と普段から思っていたからこそ、そういうイベントがあることに希望を感じた。

Lu Xun's "New Story": Criticizing Chinese Civilization(The Problems of the Dam): Essay

The collection of works in the title is a wonderful response between the artist himself and his works, as Lu Xun(魯迅), who was concerned about the future of China, was trying to sound a warning to the Chinese people. Although he was fully aware of the greatness of Chinese civilization, he wrote things that disparaged that civilization. The works included are 8 stories in total, including a ``reasonable new interpretation'' of Lao Tzu’s Departing episode, and are rich in variety, so you won't get tired of reading them.

The most interesting story among these stories is that when King Yu(禹), one of the three emperors Yao, Shun, and Yu, was desperately trying to control floods, scholars and officials connected to the central government What this means is seen as nothing more than an event in the world of Chinese characters, and the story depicts people having meaningless discussions about whether Yu actually meant an insect, and doing nothing about the problem. Eventually, the mud-covered Yus returned and despised and mocked those in the center.

Importantly, Yu succeeded in controlling floods by letting water flow without building dams. Modern China's Three Gorges Dam is only a recipe for disaster. Suicidal behavior of the Chinese people. They must read the classics properly. (Here,” The book:書経”)

Lu Xun's internal motivation for writing this story was that at the time, the system for discovering officials called the Imperial Examination had become meaningless, and the story of how a student taking the Imperial Examination who could only understand Chinese characters was now meaningless to even children. It seems that Lu Xun, who witnessed the pitiful situation where he gave a lecture on Chinese characters, wrote out his anger (though he did not know whom he was addressing) on a manuscript paper. In the case of Yu's tales, without making fun of the main character, he depicts a highly probable figure of Yu and instead criticizes Chinese civilization by pointing out the scholars and officials who have become a group of incompetents bound by Chinese characters.

魯迅の『故事新編』：中国文明をこき下ろす

表題の作品集は、中国の行く末を憂いた魯迅(ろじん)が、中国人への警鐘を鳴らす意味で、作家自身と作品が見事に呼応したものです。中国文明の素晴らしさを十分知った上で、その文明を貶めることを書くのです。収録されている作品は、老子出関の逸話の「妥当な新解釈」のお話などなど、全８話、ヴァラエティに富んでいて、読んでいて飽きません。

これらのお話のなかでも興味深いのは、堯・舜・禹（三帝）のひとり禹（う）王が、必死に治水の事業をしていた際に、中央政府に繋がる学者・役人たちが禹とはなにか、漢字の世界の出来事としてしか見られず、禹とは虫のことだったかなどと無意味な議論をしていて、なにもしない有様が描かれます。そのうち、泥まみれの禹たちが帰還し、彼ら中央のものどもを軽蔑しあざ笑う・・・こんな話でした。ちなみに、Yu、ダムを作らず、水を流すことで、治水に成功した。現代中国の三峡ダムは、災害を招くだけだ。中国民族の自殺行為。彼らは古典はちゃんと読まなくてはだめだ。

魯迅がこの話を書いた内的動機としては、当時、科挙という役人発掘制度が無意味になり、漢字のことしかよく解らぬ科挙受験生のなれの果てが、子供たちに、いまや無意味になった漢字の講釈を垂れるという情けない実情を目にした魯迅が「憤り」（だれに対してかは解らぬながら）を原稿用紙に書きつづった有様が目のあたりに見えるようです。禹の説話の場合、主人公を茶化さずに有り得た蓋然性の高い禹の姿を書ききり、むしろ漢字に縛られ、無能集団と化した学者や役人を槍玉に挙げることによって、中国文明の批判にしたのでしょう。
