you can get what you want or you can just get old by hyperlight (Bakugo gets hit by a quirk that sends him to a future where he messed up everything and lost himself to become the number one (and still never managed it). Kirishima in this word is a really badass hero that doesn’t give too fucks about rankings! He’s super mature and harder but gosh I’m in love.)

half in and half out of the light by gangnamstiles (Kirishima gets discharged from the army, but he’s got a lot of scars left from his time there, Bakugo’s a rock throught it all, and so are their friends. They were a band before adulting, and now they’re tryna put it back together. It’s really emotional and good)

Worth a Thousand Words by awareoftheconcept (Kirishima thinks Bakugo is dating Camie and jealousy ensues but their friendship is so sweet it don’t really matter, plus they make it in the end. Did i say the way their friendship is portrayed is everything? They just REALLY love each other. I love this fic with my whole heart)

Out of the Slipstream by Ashii Black (ashiiblack) (and AU where th boys are professional cyclists and this Bakugo’s really hot and also they soft with some jelly Bakugo, very good. E rated)

Burden of Proof by kytrin, Mslead (it’s murder mystery with magic and romance and a great relationship development! It’s really really good! Mind the rating tho!)

In the Dark of the Night by arxaris (Katsuki’s the emperor of rome and Kirishima’s a Gladiator that catches his eyes. It’s a sort of fwb that evolves into something more because these boys can’t resist each other. It’s sweet and hot, very good all around.)

From Fire and Ashes, Flourishing by Milligramme (Bakugo’s a volcano god and kirishima’s the priest that gets chosen to «worship» him. They fall in love, it’s very good)

nuclear seasons by qactus (The lifeguard AU we don’t deserve. It’s a slow burn and it’s so damn good. Rated E).

Nampō Roku, Book 6 (30, 31): Two Sketches of the Tsuri-dana.

30) A sketch of the small [tsuri-]dana¹. It is also known as the kuguri-dana [クヽリ棚]².

[The writing reads: hitotsu-mono ha bon kono ni tokoro yoshi (一ツ物ハ凡此二所ヨシ)³; sono hoka mi-awase oku-beshi (其外見合セ置ヘシ)⁴.]

31) The measurements for this naka-dana [中棚] were recorded previously⁵. Because it [crosses] both the yin and yang [it is hard to decide whether the shelf is wholly yin or wholly yang]. [Therefore,] the kane from below [on the mat] are used⁶.

[The writing reads: yō no hitotsu-mono (陽ノ一物)⁷; in no hitotsu-mono (陰ノ一物)⁸; (below) kore ha sukoshi katayorite ashii (コレハ少カタヨリテアシヽ)⁹; koto ni ya-bun tatami ni oite yoshi (コトニ夜分疊ニ置テヨシ)¹⁰.]

◎ Though they are formatted as five independent entries in the Enkaku-ji manuscript of the Nampō Roku, sections 27 to 31 are dealt with as a single unit by both Shibayama Fugen and Tanaka Senshō.

My rationale for breaking them into two parts was both spatial, and related to the nature of their content (since the illustrations are not associated with their text counterparts in the original, in any case).

The two sketches that are being considered here are related to entries 27 and 28, respectively.

This is the last entry to deal with aspects of the daime-kiri. The next will begin a series of entries devoted to descriptions of certain historically important (and, for the most part, already lost, by the time these essays were collected by Nambō Sōkei) utensils, usually accompanied by narrations of their (often secret) temae.

¹Ko-dana no zu [小棚ノ圖].

These, and the text in the following footnote, are the words that are written on the right side of the sketch. This phrase seems to be the title.

The first sketch is of Rikyū's original tsuri-dana (which measured 1-shaku 6-bu by 9-sun.

²Kuguri-dana to mo iu [クヽリ棚トモ云].

As in the previous post, “kuguri-dana” is given as an alternate name for this particular version of the tsuri-dana.

³Hitotsu-mono ha bon kono ni-sho yoshi [一ツ物ハ凡此二所ヨシ].

Bon [凡] means generally, on the whole, as a rule.

Kono ni-sho [此の二所] means “these two places.” The two spots marked by circles.

Yoshi [よし] means “(are) acceptable.”

The right-most of the two spots indicated is for a yin no hitotsu-mono.

The spot on the left is where a yang hitotsu-mono would be displayed.

⁴Sono hoka mi-awase oku-beshi [其外見合セ置ヘシ].

Sono hoka [其外] means “as for the rest...;” “as for the others....” In other words, other kinds of chaire (that is, chaire that are not worthy of being displayed as an hitotsu-mono).

Mi-awase [見合わせ] means something like “according to what looks best*.”

In other words, when arranging a more ordinary chaire on this tsuri-dana, it should be associated with its kane in the way that looks best. ___________ *The classical meaning is rather different from the idiomatic meaning common today (which is suspension or interruption).

⁵Kono naka-dana, sun-pō migi ni shirusu-gotoshi [此中棚、寸法右ニ記スコトシ].

Sun-pō migi ni shirusu-gotoshi [寸法右に記す如し]: sun-pō [寸法] means the measurements; migi ni shirusu gotoshi [右に記す如し] means “as described on the right.”

The reference is to entry 38 (in the previous post), where this tana is described as being 1-shaku 3-sun 7-bu wide, and 1-shaku deep.

Once again, this and the following two sentences constitute the text that is written along the right side of the sketch.

⁶In-yō tomo ni shita no kane wo tō-shite mochiiru nari [陰陽トモニ下ノカネヲトヲシテ用ル也].

In-yō tomo ni [陰陽共に] means (because it is) both yin and yang.

Shita no kane [下のカネ] is referring to the kane as distributed across the surface of the mat (within the kamae).

Tō-shite mochiiru [通して]: tō-shite [通して] means throughout, over the whole expanse, over the whole space; mochiiru [用いる] means to adopt, employ, utilize, apply, use, and so forth.

In other words, the kane from the mat beneath are raised up and superimposed on the shelf.

⁷Yō no hitotsu-mono [陽ノ一物].

“Yang hitotsu-mono.”

A yang hitotsu-mono is displayed on the first yang kane, as shown below.

⁸In no hitotsu-mono [陰ノ一物].

“Yin hitotsu-mono.”

A yin hitotsu-mono is displayed on the second yin kane, as above.

⁹Kore ha sukoshi katayorite ashii [コレハ少カタヨリテアシヽ].

“Deviating even a little from this is wrong.”

Katayorite [偏りて]: means deviation.

Ashii [悪しい] means bad, evil.

¹⁰Koto ni ya-bun tatami ni oite yoshi [コトニ夜分疊ニ置テヨシ].

“On certain occasions, at night, it might be best to place [the chaire] on the tatami.”

At night, objects arranged on the tana are usually in deep shadow*. Since this is potentially dangerous (the host could accidentally knock the chaire over, if he cannot see it clearly when attempting to lower it to the mat at the beginning of the temae), the host should be circumspect. __________ *Though this also depends on where the oil lamp has been placed. In the small room, a kake tō-dai [掛燈臺] was sometimes suspended from the hook in the middle of the back wall of the toko, from a hook temporarily nailed into the toko-bashira, or even from a hook nailed into the naka-bashira -- and depending on where its light fell, the host is encouraged to consider whether to place the chaire on the shelf, or on the mat.

The hook nailed into the toko-bashira (and commonly used for a kake-hanaire today) was originally only there when an oil lamp would be hung from it.

The Owlery Exchange Masterlist

This year, Game of Drarry started an anonymous pen pal exchange where we matched writers together to correspond as Harry and Draco, respectively. A curse from Voldemort regresses Harry to infancy. Snape must protect him while the Order tries to find a way to reverse the spell.

This isn’t exactly time travel, but I use every excuse I can to talk about this story because it was one of my firsts and still one of my favourites to this day. It’s an age-regression piece, so it’s time travel-esque because Harry’s a different age, maybe? It’s just so good and such a beautiful story between these two. Sorry, haha, I’ll get to the legitimate time travel ones after this, don’t worry.

A Place Between Sleep and Waking by r_grayjoy (28k+ words | complete)

More than a year after Voldemort’s defeat, Harry is still having nightmares about Snape’s death. When his dreams gradually begin to change, so do his perceptions. Ultimately, Harry discovers that when one lives in both the past and the future, it’s difficult to find one’s present.

This is a strange twist on ‘time travel’ as it begins with Harry travelling somewhere in his dreams and slowly becoming more corporal and such. It’s a fascinating, powerful, and beautiful love story between him and a younger, impressionable, and lonely Severus. I highly recommend it. One of my favs!

Now, this is a classic. At least, I think it is. This seems like such a famous one for me, and it’s well-deserved. It’s a very beautiful story (I’m probably going to say that for all of them). It’s a tad confusing, with the shifts in time and the back-and-forth, but it’s so worth it. Their love is so intense, and the physics of it is so intriguing. I read it all in one sitting, which is not something I usually do for a fic this long. Great, great read, a must in this community.

Okay, I’m really excited because I just found this in the depths of my bookmarked works, and I remembered just how good it was! This is another iffy one because it’s not technically time travel, but present-age Harry is communicating with a younger Severus, so it still counts to me. Give this one a chance for sure, because it’s so sweet. It’s very angsty, since it’s set just before and during the battle, so just be warned. Something to note with me, though, all of my recs will have a happy ending of some sort. I don’t like unsatisfying or sad ones.

Severus Snape wasn’t supposed to die. Neither was Harry Potter.

Oh my god, this one. This is absolutely incredible. One of the best. It’s such a unique and imaginative story, and their love is so precious. You can literally feel it with every word, it’s so obvious that they cherish each other. The story itself, like, aside from the romance is also fascinating. There’s a very cool mystery that has a lot of twists and turns to figure out, and the story is written so whenever you think you have the answer, you’re just as mistaken as the characters themselves. Fabulous read.

Escaping the Paradox by Meri (35k+ words | complete)

After Harry is thrown back in time to 1971, he has several choices to make.

This is another brilliant piece. It’s quintessential Snarry time travel. I always have a soft spot for younger Severus and Older Harry, it’s just such a strange and fun dynamic. And trust me, this Severus is still the same ol’ Sev. It’s so full of humour, canon story references, and sweet love. It’s a very satisfying read, I have nothing bad to say about it.

Despite their arguing, Harry can’t help but find himself drawn to Snape. If Harry and Snape can get over their past and learn to be just a little selfish, their relationship may stand a chance.

This. This. THIS. God, this one has such a special place in my heart. These four chapters ripped my soft little heart apart. It was so good. The boys really struggle in this one, but the more intensely they fight, the more intensely they love. They are meant for each other in every way here, and it’s leaves you with such a good feeling. Couldn’t recommend this more, it’s, well…perfect.

Things are going poorly for the side of the light, and in a last-ditch effort to fulfill his destiny, Harry goes back in time to try again.

This is one I’ve admittedly only read through once. I really need to read it again and experience this delightful story once more. This was is definitely fluffier than the others. The ending, oh, it makes me just melt. The boys are absolute fools in love, and it’s just too good. I love this story, and it looks a lot longer than it is. Nineteen chapters went by in an instant for me.

Leave it to Harry Potter to interfere with every aspect of Severus Snape’s life–and death.

This is completely not at all as morbid as it might sound! It’s not exactly time travel, but Severus and Harry both died and are in an Eden-esque setting, which is good enough for me. This one is way happier than a lot of this lot, despite its summary. It’s actually quite fun, and Death (yes, Death is a character) is absolutely hysterical. This fic is worth the read just for him, if I’m honest. It’s all good, but I love a smutty, comedic fic that doesn’t take itself so seriously. Not cracky, though, just funny.

Back In Time by Snarry5evr (26k+ words | complete)

After Nagini’s attack Severus wakes to find himself in an impossible future. Married to The Boy Who Lived, Severus sets out to discover a way to keep himself from making the same mistake twice, because surely no sane version of Severus Snape would EVER fall in love with the arrogant brat.

Another hidden gem I had forgotten about until just now. This one was always so intriguing! The slightly confusing angst still tugs at my heartstrings on the beginning, but seriously, the love story here is so beautiful. Severus relearning just why he fell in love with Harry Potter is just… There’s nothing better. Very, very touching story.

Luv, I really have to thank you for this ask because it’s reminding me of so many lovely stories I haven’t read in ages! This one is definitely a strange one, but in a good way. Like the summary states, it’s canon-compliant Snarry. Stuff like that just butters my eggroll, it really does. The writing is absolutely incredible, and I can’t dany that I’m so, so, so in love with this love story. It’s some good slow-burn, and it’s worth every second of reading and waiting.

This is a new one in my collection, so again, I’ve only read it once. However, it was fan-tas-tic. Literally, I couldn’t stop reading. I was so fascinated by Harry’s grief and mourning process. Every character was so developed and so well-written, I loved every second of it. Bittersweet, but very hopeful ending as well, which is all I need. As long as they’re together, anything is possible for these two lovebirds.

And finally, one of my most beloved, most cherished, most reread fanfictions ever…

Waiting to Divide by emynn (22k+ words | complete)

Harry always thought soul mates were the domain of overly-soppy romantics. What he didn’t realise was that they were very real, very dangerous, and very inconvenient…especially when your soul mate is the very dead Severus Snape. Fortunately, with the help of his friends and a Time Portal, he’s able to get past that pesky obstacle…and finds his life completely changed.

I’m not going to go super in depth about this one because you’ll never shut me up if I do that. Let me just say: read this one. If you read nothing else on this list, please, please read this one. It is so worth it. Soulmates and time travel? Ugh, it’s so good. Their love is so powerful and so beautiful, I cannot get enough of the two of them. It also follows the canon storyline (obviously, from the ‘very dead Severus Snape’ line), so the angst is strong in the one. But stick with it, it’s such a satisfying read.

Okay, well…oops. I didn’t mean to go super crazy here, but I just got inspired and wanted to give you (and anybody seeing this) lots of options. My Bridesmaids Proposal ♡

I cannot tell you how excited I am to write this blog post! I feel like i’m reliving the day all over again. When Alexander and I got engaged I got obsessed with the idea of a Bridesmaid Proposal. I spent hours on Google trying to get inspo from what other brides-to-be had done for theirs and I really wanted to create something very personal for each girl and make it into an actual event, one they couldn’t forget.

With two months out I messaged each girl individually so they didn’t know the others were going to be there and asked her to keep brunch time free on Sunday the 10th September, which also happened to be 6 months until the wedding date. The only girl who raised her suspicions with me was Lucy who constantly hounded me asking what we were doing, if I was going to ask her to be my Maid of Honour and what would we be eating for “brunch” because I can’t cook…brutal! It’s not like me to plan something so far in advance as I’m such a last minute Larry so I don’t blame her for the grilling.

I reached out to my friend Chrystal from Carnival Creations and pitched my Bridesmaid Proposal idea. Straight away our creative minds exploded and we got planning. She sorted out all the styling and I organised the gift boxes for the girls.

THE GIFTS

I found a small business on Instagram called Partie Co who make personalised boxes for special occasions. I ordered the white medium gift box with the magnetic and ribbon closure and that was a perfect size to fit all the gifts inside. You need to allow between 2-4 weeks for your order to arrive, mine arrived rather quickly though. At Spotlight I found pink shredded tissue paper which I used as the base for each box and needed 1 bag per box.

Next I did a call out to find a local business who could make ROSE GOLD custom labels. I received many recommendations for The Gifting Collective so I had the lovely Hannah make 4x candles that had “Will You Be My Bridesmaid/Maid of Honour” and 4x mini bottles of rosé with “Bride Tribe” written on them. You can also choose from several different flavour scents for the candles so I sneakily found out what flavours my girls like most and ordered vanilla/caramel and peony.

The next gift was a custom rose gold necklace from Melodee Design who specialise in Bespoke Handmade Jewellery. They each have their own initial on the flat disc with a heart added behind it. I also own one so I thought it would be special if we all had a piece that was matching. The necklaces arrive in a little pink bag but I bought tiny white gift boxes from David Jones to put them into so it really looked like a proposal. The mini bow on top of the boxes were purchased from Spotlight and are taped double sided for easy stick.

The final gift was the hardest to get because the website was constantly out of stock! I even signed up for the alert when it was restocked but never received it. Just by luck I got in quick and ordered 4x Pale Pink Tassel Keyrings from The Daily Edited. Each keyring had the girls initials on them and an emoji that represented something personal from our friendship. These arrived EXTREMELY quickly! Like, two days later quickly! I loved the gift box they arrived in and you can also choose a gift card to put with it.

THE PROPOSAL

I was nervous AF! I thought I was going to vomit and had the shakes so bad. I was so scared that the girls would say no. I had been imagining this day for MONTHS and wanted everything to go perfectly.

As each girl started arriving at my house they were all wondering why the others were there as well. They could all see how nervous I was…so nervous I made them all scull a glass of champagne with me. I then told them that I had heard about a really special event that was coming up and thought it would be nice if we could all go together, but I didn’t want them knowing where we were going so I handed them a blind fold and told them our ride had arrived.

Carnival Creations had put together the most incredible setting in my backyard. I lead the girls to the grazing table and told them to remove their blind folds. The sound of their squeals then turned to shock, followed by tears and “OH MY GOD!” being the only words that they could manage to say. It was exactly the reactions I was hoping for and that moment will be with me forever. I mean...these photos speak for themselves.... (and someone needs to award Jaleesa with an Academy Award already!!!!)

Watching the girls open their gifts was like Christmas morning. They all read their cards first which had “Will you be my bridesmaid/Maid of Honour?” written inside with a polaroid photo of us, as soon as they all read that they each jumped up again and screamed their heads off. Through tears, I asked “soooo….is that a yes?” - THEY ALL SAID YES!!!

I know it’s not always about the gifts and the fancy things, but I hadn’t seen anything like this be done before and they all joked about how I don’t do things in halves. I really wanted to celebrate them and the friendship that we share. The whole entire set up was like a dream!

Each of the girls are so special to Alex and I and are such a significant part of our story. There is no way in the world that I could walk the most important runway of my life and not have them by my side.

With a very special mention to Jana from Billie and Peaches who photographed the priceless moment so last minute. Unfortunately Alexander has been bedridden but Jana saved the day with only 24 hours notice and had the photos back to me the very next day. I had so much fun planning this for my girls and it was really special watching them all bond with one another and create new friendships. They are all such strong, smart and beautiful women who I am so lucky to have in my life. The next 6 months are going to be one hell of a ride and I can’t wait to share this with my tribe!
