"Saturdays by Twin Shadow (feat. HAIM)" is how I've mentally started every post I've made here on a Saturday for the past however many years that song's been out.

I decided I needed bath bombs so I set out to do that and only realized my error when I saw the traffic control person as soon as I turned into the mall. On the Saturday before Christmas. lol

My upstairs neighbor moved out a month ago so I no longer hear about their sex life through my ceiling. My next door neighbor moved out last week so I no longer have to wear my active noise cancelling earplugs to muffle their snoring. It’s quieter around here, but the hot water takes longer to find my tap in the morning.

Never did end up doing Christmas cards this year. I’ve got mixed feelings about that.

I want to do a bunch of dumb end of year data analysis things, but I have to pull a bunch of data to do it, and that’ll take me like a dozen minutes, and that's like a dozen minutes that I could spend not doing that thing. You see my dilemma. Stay tuned, I guess?

I’m the only one on my team not scheduled off on Monday and I think Tuesday next week (and, actually, most of the next 2 weeks). It’s easy enough to keep Teams active and my work email open while I tinker on side quests.

hi! research question I'd love your input on:

do you know how to generate size-of-fandom stats? I'm researching the Ghost fandom and while I know from the This Week in Tumblr posts about what their size is *now,* I'd like to try to compare it to past years, and be able to make statements like "x% of the fandom is reblogging explicit content."

I'm also looking for deeper info on how tumblr works if someone deactivates - do their notes vanish too?

It sounds like you want to gather Tumblr information only -- is that right? I don't have a lot of expertise with Tumblr data (I think I last gathered some over a decade ago), but it looks like their API still lets you retrieve posts with a certain tag and specify a timestamp, if you're willing to do a bit of programming. So you could, e.g., retrieve the last N posts of each month that use a particular fandom tag. And then you can compare those samples of posts to see how the content has changed over time. If you want to do that, there are libraries in Python and probably other languages that can make it easier to work with the Tumblr API.

I believe the posts retrieved this way don't include reblogs, so you'd also have to look at the post notes to get info about how many reblogs different types of posts are getting. As to your question of deactivated accounts within those notes, I'm not certain of the answer. I frequently see reblog chains where some accounts in the chain have deactivated, so those notes are not entirely gone. But I don't know if the replies/likes from deactivated accounts disappear from post notes. Anyone else know?

This is my aunt's cat, Apis! She has 2 kittens here because this is the only photo I have of her lol.

I am Swedish and Apa is Monkey and the -is suffix is kinda like adding an y at the end of a word to make it cute (doggy, Foxy, Kitty)

She has had like a billion litters of kits and is like 13 years old. Very kind and sweet, an inside/outside cat but is also really cool. Once we found a claw in my dog (who hates cats) nose because she bothered Apis. She cuddled my hand even though I was like right by her kits, so very trusting to humans.

Siltbrook, while nowadays prickly with most cats, is gentle as a feather with the clan's kits. Although she may not show it most of the time, she trusts all of her clanmates as if they were her family. She chose to stay in the nursery permanently after she had her second litter, as she figured it would be a lot more convenient for her. She's old enough to be an elder, but refused to retire, even when the leader gently encouraged her to take even just a little break from watching over the clan's kits. She says that she would 'sooner stick her head in a badger's den' than retire. Her favorite prey is newts!

not me finding out that fandom wikis do not have an api (which is like a specialised ui for programmers that a lot of websites have where you can more directly access resources off the website with programming tools, f.e. if one piece wiki had one, you could tell your coding languages like "hey get all the strawhat pirates' names and heights off their character pages and put them in my database here please" and it would be able to get that info off the wiki for you) so I will have to learn web scraping to get data off there for visualising ship stats project I have planned for my data analysis portfolio instead now smh

i would love some free bee facts

good morning Did you know there’s only 11-13 species of Honey Bee in the world? And the number changes depending on who you ask because some are not actually solidified yet as species? That’s not a lot of honey bee considering there’s an entire separate family for sweat bees (Halictidae) while honey bees just get lumped in with bumble bees and carpenter bees (Apidae)

the smallest honey bee in the world is Apis andreniformis and it looks like this

And the largest in the world is Apis laboriosa which looks like this

isn’t that awesome. For reference Apis mellifera (the honey bee most people are familiar with as it’s found nearly all over the world) is a medium sized honey bee that’s dwarfed by A. laboriosa and is quite a bit larger than A. andreniformis.

Armored Apis: The idea of them having a brain cell and 4 person yearning is fun, but what about the revelation that 3 people love them for who they are. The "Oh...ohhhhhh" moment as a writer such as myself likes to call it.

Pyrrha gets it when Jaune, Blake, and Yang let her just be normal on a day off from training and sponsor work.

Yang gets it when she gets texts from them supporting her and checking in when she's having near breakdown.

Jaune gets it after they tell him that they know he's a better leader than he thinks he is.

Blake gets hit the hardest with the revelation after seeing Jaune, Yang, and Pyrrha rise up to defend her from Adam.

It’s because they all react to their relationships similarly, but with their own twist based on their backgrounds. They all feel like they’re not good enough for the people they love, that they have to be MORE to be worthy of them
